0:00
[upbeat music] Hey, welcome everybody.
0:18
Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 96 here. 96. 96. 96. That's like- 69 the other way. Yeah, right. Right. [laughs] A dyslexic 69. So what's happening?
0:35
Chilly out there today. That it has been, and blustery. Mm. Blustery, blustery, blustery. Uh, snowed a little bit last couple of days. Yeah. Little dustings here and there. Yeah, enough to a slight accumulate.
0:51
Little winter wonderland action. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Yeah, a little unexpected. [laughs] There you, there you go. Hi. It's me. Tony, Tony likes talking down to the microphone. Hi. Now he's talking into it. Mic check.
1:03
There we go. Mic check. Usually do the mic check before we start the show. [laughs] I always need a check. I'll put my neck up. Right, right. So, uh, yeah, yep, yep. Been, uh, getting some stuff done in the shop. Mm-hmm.
1:19
Playing, uh, Electric Bike Builder again. And fast Electric Bike Builder at that. Yeah, I don't know. Can we talk about how fast these things go or- Well, I mean- They're...
1:28
[laughs] Because they're hand-built, there isn't really a requirement to be a Class A, B, or C to my knowledge. Aha. Well, this is a good thing. And, you know, in Milwaukee, it's...
1:39
You s- you more often see the, um, like lawnmower powered bikes- Yeah, yeah... going at insane speeds. Yeah, very illegal. Very annoying besides. And also nobody ever gets pulled over on them and- No, no...
1:53
I don't know that there's a lot of policing in our fair city anymore. Yeah. We just got a whole bunch more money for there to be more of them. Nice. Nice, baby.
2:02
No, it's actually a, it's kind of a fiasco, but we're not gonna talk about politics on this one. Yeah. Well, we can say- It's not a show about politics... we can say welcome to Joe, though, hey? Riding with Biden.
2:12
[laughs] Hey.
2:14
Gotta find my aviators and- Dave Lunds posted a funny video he sent me of, um, him putting a Bike Milwaukee sticker over the sticker on the back of Dina's car that said, "My dog is smarter than the president."
2:30
[laughs] The former president now. The f- Well, that's the for- yeah. Or as Molly's referring to him as the disgraced [laughs] former president. [laughs] Well, I'm, I'm kinda curious what's gonna happen to the man.
2:42
Mm-hmm. Well, he said he- I, I think- He said he will return in some form. Yeah, pres- That was a little haunting. I don't know... like as a cyborg or...? [laughs] El- something elemental. I don't know. Yeah.
2:52
I've been watching the extended Lord of the Rings, so I'm- Right... my, my head is deep, deep, deep in their man, so. [laughs] Yeah. Is this, is this the, uh, the full trilogy or just the- Yep. Okay. Yep. All right.
3:03
Yeah. Was that on the hobo? No, I got it from the library. Ah. And chewing through all of the supplemental documentaries. Nice. I mean, it's a lot. Lots of content. Lots o' content.
3:15
Some of it's a little redundant, but all the same, it's enjoyable. Well, as, as popular as the books are, he really didn't write that many books. You're right, right, right.
3:24
You know, and I've probably rid- I've probably read each one, I don't know, at least a half a dozen times. Oh, yeah, I'm trying to reread The Hobbit. I don't know why it, it's like... I don't know.
3:35
At least, at least Elijah Wood's not in the book. Right. [laughs] Ooh. [laughs] Yeah, they took some... Oh, Sam, oh. Oh, Sam. They're leaving out the most important character. I want to hear more about Sam.
3:47
[laughs] Oh, they were so in love with each other. Oh, man. [laughs] When they're all jumping up and down on the bed and, oh man, I haven't gotten to that weird scene yet. That was one of the 15 endings. I know.
4:01
I'm not quite there yet. No Tom Bombadil in, in the original ones. Is he in the extended? No, no. Mm. But they address the omission of that, I do believe, yes. Too hard to make the s- scenery or what?
4:15
[laughs] Something along those lines where it slowed action down or slowed... I don't know. They were- I don't know... they, they had a good company line going for it. Right on. I've been watching Snowpiercer on HBO Max.
4:26
Right on. I haven't jumped into that, uh- It, what it sort of looked like a graphic novel kind of a thing- Mm-hmm... brought to life. It has a little, I don't know, art nouveau look to it. It's not bad. Yeah.
4:38
I, I- I started watching the movie and then started watching some of the series. Jennifer Connelly's in it. She's- Well, that's- Aight... that's, yeah. Aight. Aight. That's what's drawing me mostly. [laughs] No.
4:52
[laughs] So yeah, we did some, we did do some bike stuff this week. We did. We did. Uh, we got, I think we have some pictures of the electric shark. Electric shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo.
5:04
Electric shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo. I'm just so glad that, that, that- It is a riot... that earworm has never been able to, like, catch root. I'm- No. We'll keep beating on it till it does. [laughs] Oh.
5:14
[laughs] No, no, no, no, no. 4:00 in the morning, you go- Electric Andy... "No, no, no, no, no, no"... no. Yeah, you'd have to supplant one for another, and I don't see that happening. Yeah, uh, no.
5:24
[laughs] We do have, we do have some pictures of the electric shark that I posted to the books of face. Um, it is frankly one of the most fun [laughs] bikes I've ever ridden. It's just goofy. Yeah.
5:36
And I was, I sent Greg a text message because I took it for a test ride Sunday afternoon, and my, my Monday morning meeting, my boss happens to mention, he's like, "Were you out riding that [laughs] bike you were talking about the other night?"
5:50
[laughs] I'm like, "Yeah." He's like, "Did you turn onto Humboldt?" I'm like, "Many times." He's like, "You were going very fast." I'm like, "Yes. Yes, I was." [laughs] Well, I hit 30.0 on it. I did 28.9 Nice.
6:06
It goes uphill like a rocket. It can... I did 18 and a half miles an hour uphill. I've never done that in my life- [laughs]... other than in a car. [laughs] And then it was a struggle sometimes.
6:17
Then I'm worry- then I'm worrying about the car. [laughs] Yeah. 'Cause it's honking in there. No, it is a, the, it w- it's stable, it corners like a banshee. Um, it's so comfortable it's crazy, and you look cool.
6:32
Look cool. You look really... People that- No, you look cool... know bikes and see you on it, they're like, "What in the hell is that guy riding?" Whatever it is.
6:39
When I was coming down Humboldt, uh, going basically the speed of the cars, the guy was in the car next to me, looking over at me, kinda grinning and nodding his head. I'm like- [laughs]... "Yep. That's right, buddy."
6:51
So, uh, the designer of it, John Schlick, my partner in Schlick Cycles- Yeah... is actually gonna come down- Friday, right?... Friday, and, and take the E version for the first ride. Um, and then
7:03
some- the first week of February, we're heading out to Wyatt Cycles, Wyatt Bicycles, to talk to Wyatt about producing the new version of the frame. Made in the USA, goodness. Yeah.
7:15
These were Waterford built, the ones that we currently have. Is that right? Yes. Oh. That was quite the operation to get those guys to make this, 'cause they're pretty much conventional double diamond guys. Yeah.
7:27
They're like, "What the hell's that thing?" Yeah. "I got to just put it together like this, weld it like this, and get out door." I, I kinda like Richard's, um, his philosophy of having workers there.
7:39
Uh, I don't think anybody that's on the production floor is a cyclist at all. Really? They're, they're- They're welders...
7:45
they're tradesmen or craftspeople that do their job well, and they get the job done, and then they're out of there.
7:50
They're not obsessive bike people who would probably waste a bunch of time obsessing over every little detail. Good point. Yeah. So, um, Waterford Precision down there in Waterford, Wisconsin.
8:01
They make some beautiful bikes, they do. Oh, yes. They do that. Very expensive paint jobs. If you ever wanna get your bike refinished, it's not a bad place. Yeah. I've heard that.
8:13
Speaking of which, uh, David Wage has posted a very sexy Waterford that was apparently a 50-year-old special anniversary edition.
8:21
And I explained to him the fact that steel bikes are not built to last 50 years, and he should just set that aside of the curb and send me his address. [laughs] Yes, sir. You'd, uh... Was he restoring it?
8:34
Uh, yeah, I think it's a full re- It's, you gotta look at his Facebook pa- It's stunning. Of course, it's stunning. It's Dave posted it on his Facebook page. It's like, his bikes are drool-worthy. Yeah.
8:44
I'm afraid to own one, 'cause I'd, like, never let it out of my sight. You don't win the Hand-Built Bike Show without being a- Many times... yeah, without being a, a very competent builder and sculptor.
8:55
Almost, I'd say just sculpting- Yeah... of the lugs and whatnot. You know, it, it... He is definitely, I would term him artiste. Artiste. He is incredible. And a super nice guy, too. Yeah, he's a great guy, too.
9:05
And he's a great guy. A great guy there, that guy is. Uh, next up on the electrification situation is the, uh, that long tail- Schlick Cycles-... cargo bike over there... one-of-a-kind Schlick Cycles cargo bike.
9:17
One-of-a-kind cargo bike. Long tail, a la sort of, kinda sorta extra cycle- Cycleish... of the old days. Yeah. Yet, it can have on there the fat tires, folks. It's got the fat tires on it. And dual pannier mounts- Yep...
9:31
on each side. [laughs] Yep. Yep. Not just dual mounts, 'cause that would just be one on each. Yeah, that's just like a regular one. No, there's a- But yeah... you can put four dang old pannier bags on there.
9:40
Uh, we did that one, geez- A long-... you know, that's been when? 2013, I believe. Is that right? It was well before the fat Big Dummy came out. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Big Fat Dummy came out.
9:51
Way, way, way, way, years and years before that. To be fair. It's one. To be fair. To be fair. I did see on the very first, I think, um, uh, Pugsley Worlds in Decorah,
10:04
uh, one of the racers had taken his Big Dummy and modified it to put fat bike tires on it. Well, there was- And I thought that was a really great idea. There was a guy in- And that was in, like, 2012 maybe or something.
10:15
There was a guy in Madison, too, that built from, I think it was Banjo Bikes. True that. Who had built a cargo, fat cargo. And then it was for sale for, it, it was very used, but it was for sale for, like, $800.
10:28
And I thought long and hard, I'm like, "I could restore that." Wow. That'd be a- I mean, US steel... that would be a bargain. Yeah. I dare say this one isn't gonna be quite that inexpensive.
10:38
No, and it's in beautiful condition. It was a camera bike for the 24 Once. Yeah. It, it just, it hasn't really been used all that much.
10:46
And the nicest thing about it is people hear you coming with those incredibly loud Hope hubs on it. [laughs] Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, the 24 Race bike had Hope hubs on it, too. I know.
10:55
And you, you kinda sneak up on people, and then you coast behind them, and it's like... And it's like they get the hell out of the way right away. [laughs] Yeah.
11:03
Hey, everybody out there in fat bike land, I'm still looking for a pair of, uh, Black Floyds to refurbish the 24 Bike and put it back into its original condition. Yeah, that would be gorgeous.
11:15
Got some Black Floyds, let us know, info@everydaycycles.com. I, uh, I got- Especially if you have four, because we're [laughs] gonna wear another two out, 'cause they're just so much fun to ride on.
11:21
Well, I can put the worn out ones on there just for effect. It'll be like, you know, an, an Indy car with, with worn tires on it that you can't really drive anymore. Mm-hmm.
11:32
Somebody really needs to come out with a smooth fat bike tire again. Right. And like we said before, it's f- fat slick. Thick slick, man. Thick slick. Thick slick fat. Fat. Thick fat slick.
11:44
That's thick- Fat thick slick... slick. [laughs] What? Excuse me. [laughs] So I have a pair of, uh- I, there was a, there was a Bronk invocation there for a second. [laughs] Yeah. That was.
11:58
Speaking of, uh, uh, big and black, I have, uh, some very worn out, um, Schwalbe- What's their big fat tire called? Oh, what is that thing called? Whatever. It's, they're worn out.
12:12
I'm thinking about shaving all the lugs off the thing and, and making those slicks- Make your own... 'cause they roll really well. There you go. Um,
12:19
but that would be a lot more work than finding a set of black Flykes [laughs] Or two... for which the bike was actually made. Right. So, if you have 'em, let me know. That would be awesome. Thanks.
12:32
Hey, you know I have another hobby besides bikes. If you've ever been over to the- Please, there are ladies present. [laughs] If you've ever been over to the Nut Factory, you'll have noticed all the- Why-...
12:42
RC airplanes in there... there's- I fly ones with no power called, uh- Yeah... sailplanes or slope soaring, which would use the- Oh...
12:50
wind just like a bird Up in the wind Beautiful In my beautiful No thermals for me, baby My beautiful balloon But here's, here's a cool thing.
12:57
Just recently, a, a guy I know in California just set the, the new dynamic soaring speed record 548 miles an hour. Get the hell out of dodge With no motor. I didn't know if that was a typo or- No, it's not.
13:09
[laughs] You guys saw it. There's a link- I mean, I'm, I'm really, I'm, I'm pretty ignorant on this, but- Have you seen this thing traveling at that speed?
13:14
Well, there's a link, there's a link to the video, so you have to watch it to see how it works, but it's a, it's a phenomenon that was discovered- [sings]... not that long ago that birds use- Phenomenon...
13:23
that extract energy out of wind coming over a peak of a hill. Using natural- So, you do a, you basically do an oval or a, a circle lap, so you can kinda keep your eye on it. Huh.
13:33
I've, I've never been able to do more than 200 miles an hour, but 548 is crazy fast. [laughs] Yeah, I'd think so. The planes are insane. They're just- I mean, my bike only goes that fast- Wonder bikes...
13:43
once in a while I mean, in a dive straight down, in the old days, Austrians in thin air were able to go, like, 240 miles an hour or something. That was just gravity driven. Yeah And that's it.
13:55
I mean, terminal velocity at whatever altitude they were at, but this actually generates energy from the wind and the hill interacting with each other. Very cool. At least to me.
14:07
I don't know, probably think it's dumb, but I don't really care. It's my- Sounds like you could harness-... my other hobby, damn it.
14:12
Sounds like you could harness that and make a little energy out of it with a couple of nice turbines. Yeah, you sh- you would think, wouldn't you? I mean, if it, if it's continual-
14:19
Get it on a- Kinda like I, I- Get it on a string and just go... we're, we're going on a tangent here, but you, regarding renewable energy, I just don't understand why we don't do more, um, tidal.
14:31
'Cause tidal work is always, it's consistent, timed consistency, and you can be constantly generating power through a turbine. You need some sort of fjord or somewhere where the tide actually has quite a bit of change.
14:44
Yeah. I mean, there's- No tide on Lake Michigan, unfortunately. No. I'm, I'm talking, you know, Mont Saint-Michel in Paris, or in France, I mean, the tide is predictable by the minute, and I mean, it's, it's heavy.
14:57
It's, it's Quicksand Island. They put prisoners on there because when the tide's out, you ain't getting off the island.
15:03
Like, I think you could do some turbine action there and, I don't know, I, I'm, I'm not, I can't be the first person to think of this. I'm sure there's a reason it doesn't happen.
15:09
No, I think they've done it in Denmark or somewhere. There are, there are some out there, but- Yeah, for sure. The tide is high and so am I. [laughs] I smoke marijuana and I don't know why.
15:20
Um- I remember that from grade school There was some good, um- [laughs]
15:26
There was, uh, s- some good, speaking of changing of the guard this week, uh, some good shows on WMSN Wednesday regarding the changing of the guard and some great songs poking at, you know, the change. The change.
15:43
Like, you know- Your time has already come No one, no one mentioned anything- That's what I'm singing, dude... but they definitely, like, threw in songs like, "Well, I wouldn't normally play this, but boop."
15:53
It was awesome. [laughs] Yeah, for real. Yep. Squid had some stuff today. Squid did some great stuff today. Squid, man. We should try to get her on the show, even if she doesn't do anything with bikes or anything.
16:03
She's just fun. She'd m- make this show's personality-wise, you mean, 'cause- There you go... yeah, she's great John McCain's daughter, folks. I don't know if that's public knowledge. It is now. [laughs] I'm sure it is.
16:17
You know- It's public knowledge... yeah, we should try to get Crawford on the show. Oh, boy. Or Johnny Z. Or any of those fine DJs. Oh, we've already had four. Come on. We've had one DJ from WMSN. Is that it? So far.
16:34
Well, [bell rings] oh, that was a climb. That was a climb. Into that headwind. Oh, man. Top of the hill, folks. Made it to the top of the hill. Uh, today's Top of the Hill is brought to you by Revolution Brewing.
16:49
Revolution Tango. I, I didn't realize that they, so this is, we got the League of Heroes, uh- Hobby kit... hobby kit, but this is issue number 11 apparently. So they, they do different combinations of beers.
17:03
Uh, when they introduce a new one- Yeah... they'll throw a few old ones into this kit and- I like, I like that they're, that's becoming a lot more prevalent. Yeah. Not just like, "Uh, hmm, hmm.
17:14
The only way I can get, like, three beers is getting, you know, eight more that I don't want." [laughs] Yeah. Right, right.
17:21
[laughs] So this one has in it the, the new Valkyrie hero, which was, is a rye IPA, which was our first. We'd already- Delicious... tasted that one, which I really- And dispatched it quickly...
17:31
I have not dispatched mine quite, but it is coming. Uh, n- number two on the list is Jukebox Hero. No, we, did we go with Jukebox? No, Armadillo Hill- No. Uh, uh, Armadillo Hero... Armadillo Hero.
17:42
We're, we're, we're jumping up the, the ABV ladder as we go. So the Armadillo Hero is, uh, citrus and floral notes with a simple delicate malt bill. [laughs] What? A malt bill. Is that a nose or- I see you build.
17:58
Well, I guess- Malt bill that allows grapefruit, orange, and melon aromas to shine. Huh. Are you getting grapefruit and m- melon- melanoma aromas? [laughs] Uh, then Anti-Hero, which is one we've had before.
18:10
That's their most popular IPA. And then we'll top it off with Jukebox Hero Black IPA To knock, yes, to kneecap ourselves. A double dry hopped. [laughs] Well, that one's only at your 7.5.
18:23
That's a, that's a big beer according to Tim over there. That's a big beer. Yeah, that is a big beer. According to Tim over there back at Studio, too. Mm-hmm. I'm glad- So, yeah...
18:28
I, I'm g- very glad I ate light [laughs] today. Well, and this, and this worked well because- I was gonna say... so this 12-pack has three each of four different beers. Last time when we had Sam D.
18:39
here, we had, uh, one that had- Four... four each of three different beers. Of three different beers. So it worked out well- Oh, yeah. Yeah... for the- It did. That was really-... for the assembled group of people.
18:46
Yeah... if each wants to have one of each beer. I would be tempted to just drink all of this Valkyrie probably, but- It's, I'm, the Armadillo ain't bad at all. No, no. I'm, I'm, I'm quite the fan of this.
19:00
It's got some good flavors. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Revolution's in Chicago, folks, if you're wondering. Yeah, there, there- It's probably- Is it North Side, South Side? Don't know. Uh- Chicago's all one big-...
19:08
it's downtown-y area... downtown-y area... 'cause I looked them up. I was gonna go visit them last time I was in Chicago, and they were just... And this was a few years ago. They were just in the process of, um,
19:17
getting their tap room set up. So they were fairly new then. Some kind of a- I, I-... North-ish, Northwest-ish... do not know Chicago at all. I don't know the- I like Chicago quite a bit...
19:26
I know whether I'm on 294 or going through the- Yeah... the Loop. That's about it. Yeah. I like their s- Yeah, yeah. I wanna- Their Chinatown is fantastic. I mean, for, for, yeah, for, for it being so close- Yeah...
19:36
I haven't accessed it nearly as much as I should. These users kick ass. I think the way to go there is the train because- Absolutely... driving down there sucks. Absolutely take the train. Yeah. Yeah.
19:45
Train's a good way to go. Mm-hmm. Well, and then going to Aunt Mo's on the south, way south side. Like, equal ea- um, directly- The-... east would be Gary, Indiana. Gary, Indiana. Gary, Indiana.
19:59
But it's, like, this whole, like... It, it, it's the, like, Irish town. That's pulmonary, isn't it? No, it's, like... Oh, well, I don't know. Like, off the top of my head, I... It was, like, something in Cicero. Okay.
20:13
Like, 120 s- I mean, it is way the hell down there. But it's funnier than hell, 'cause there's, like, one, like, kinda like, mini main street whatever, and all you see are Irish flags. [laughs] Nice. You know?
20:25
And I mean, it's like little Ire- Ire- Ire- Irish town. Yeah It's all, like, retired cops or active cops and firemen- Yeah... and all that. I mean, it just feeds the stereotype. But [laughs] it's, it's kinda fun.
20:38
I like it. Hey, you know, kinda switching back to vehicles-ish, but- Bicycles?...
20:45
you know, Saunders, that company that kinda started in Washington State that built the pretty low buck electric fat bike that had the, the case around the triangle-ish Right. Oh, yeah... yeah.
20:56
Yeah, that was a Kickstarter thing. Yeah. Have you seen their motorcycle? I have seen their motorcycle. I'm intrigued. It is pretty funky. 80 miles an hour, and it's hub drive.
21:07
[laughs] It's a hub motor that goes 80 miles an hour. Yeah. Curious about it. It's gonna be 5,000 bucks. Five grand.
21:14
That's, that price point's gonna draw some people into the two-wheel market that wouldn't normally be in the two-wheel market.
21:20
Well, y- w- you can, let's see, like a, a Honda Grom or something that's a little barely bigger than a mini bike, a 125, those are four grand. Yeah. So. Right. And they certainly don't go 80 miles an hour, either. Right.
21:32
Not without some massaging. I mean, this is, this is a highway-legal electric motorcycle, a highway- You think you can take it on the freeway, or? It says it's highway- Yeah... uh, highway-ready or something.
21:44
I can't remember the exact words it said, but- It's interesting 'cause normally you gotta be a 250 or above to go on the actual freeway, but how do you rate an electric? Do you go by kilowatts or something? Yeah.
21:55
Gigawatts. Probably not weight, 'cause you know- Oh, Marty. [laughs] You know it's gonna be heavy. Does it have a flux capacitor on it? Hmm. Uh, yeah, it looks- Probably 2.0... it looks interesting.
22:05
I mean- Eight, eight kilowatt nominal, 14 and a half kilowatt peak rear hub motor. Hmm. 4,000 watt hour battery. Well, 14 kilowatts would be, like, seven horsepower. Yeah. Give or take. I think there's around...
22:21
Or is it ki- I don't r- 2,000, I don't remember how that conversion goes, but I will know 'cause it- It, it's interesting because it's, uh, and I've, I've read a few things and watched a few things about it, but it, they kinda don't make it look like a regular motorcycle with a gas tank because they want people to have the realization that you don't need a fuel tank.
22:41
It, it's just, you know, they're, it, they're making an artistic move, and they're also trying to shift it away from having a big tank in the front of the vehicle is meant to be, like, for fuel.
22:50
And also a big-ass motor that's meant to make a lot of racket. Right. Cool racket. It just, so as, as- Cool, cool racket...
22:56
as big as, uh, combustion motors are, our, the company we use for almost all the electric stuff we do, except these mid-drives that we're doing on the bikes we talked about before, um, Grin up in Canada, ebikes.ca. A. A.
23:11
Um, they replaced a 180 kilo- This is incredible... so what is that? 360-pound diesel motor in a 25-foot sailboat with one of their hub motors and got it to work right off the bat.
23:27
Needs to do a little more, get a little more voltage to it, get the RPM up, but it, it's 30 pounds worth versus 360 pounds worth. [laughs] Right. So it, it's coming, folks. That, that electric stuff is coming.
23:41
It's coming. Either get on board or step aside, 'cause it's coming through. You're welcome to keep pedaling, though. Don't, don't get us wrong. Yeah, yeah.
23:52
And I'd say the one thing that surprised me about the mid-drives is that there's, when, when that motor's not running, there's no resistance. That's true. That, that free wheel, free wheels, as they say.
24:03
My one, uh, problem with the mid-drives is when you're using an internally geared hub that's not made for that much torque. Right. Otherwise, it's- It, it might blow it up... it's a nice thing. It's in the right spot.
24:13
Weight's low. Yep. All that good stuff. We're doing a lot of hub conversions. The, the other problem is if the chain falls off, you're kinda screwed. Are you?
24:20
Well, and like a hub motor where the chain falls off, you can still get as long as your battery will get you. Oh, yeah. I suppose you could. That's true. Hmm, never thought about that. Yeah.
24:31
Well, we're doing hub motors just 'cause most of the bikes we're converting are, are, are, uh, internally geared Shimano hubs, which are not rated to take the beating of a good high torque mid-drive motor.
24:43
Mid-drive motor. That said, the new Shark design will have a, a, an eHub that is hu- uh, electric motor rated, and it will be a mid-drive. Also, we have a Rohloff lying around by the way. [laughs] Oh, geez.
24:57
Just guess what the next one we build is gonna be. A Rohloff. Very expensive. [laughs] But e-bike, uh, friendly. Yeah, they are. So. Oh, can you imagine what kind of... Oh, not even- It's gonna...
25:09
I think we- We can't talk about this now. We just- We might have to put it on the black bike because it's red hubs, and it would just look really cool on there. Pop. [laughs] Be so fast. Hey, store news.
25:20
If anybody's looking for club ride stuff, I'm getting that stuff the heck out of here at 30 to 40% off. Oh. There's a link in the show notes. See what we got. Mm-hmm. Got some stuff left. I know.
25:30
Got some nice shirts and stuff. I'm peeking over there. Some pants. Oh, those Revolution pants are nice. Mike should probably just take those. You get a pair of those, those asphalt gray Revolution pants.
25:40
I do not have a pair of those. Somebody does. I do, but they're very nice. Yeah. I'm, you know, you need to get rid of that funky club ride jacket back there, you let me know. [laughs] I kinda like that jacket.
25:53
It's very visible. I, as I say, wearing a club ride j- Oh, actually I have... No, that's a- That's a showers pass... this is a showers pass that's post-ride, yeah.
26:01
Um, you know, Club Ride decided to go consumer direct, so I don't have much use for 'em anymore in the store. It's just not a sustainable thing. Oh, right. We got, we got better stuff to do with the space on the wall.
26:11
So, you know, buy the stuff please. 30, 40% off. Don't worry about it. It's good stuff. It's got some shirts. Good stuff. It's got some pants. Got some stuff. Some gunk slingers. Club Ride.
26:22
Keep, keep supporting the company if you feel like it, but, uh, they're not supporting the IBD anymore, so there you go. And, uh, I don't know. Oh, hey, guess what? It's cold out again.
26:34
Talked about that earlier, which means hopefully Lake Winnebago might be freezing over. You know what? You make a good point. It could very well be freezing over. Considering it, what is it maximum depth there?
26:43
12 feet or something. Something like that. It's- Glorified swamp... it's a, it's a big ass lake that is not very deep, and it freezes pretty quickly. Like the Dead Marshes from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
26:53
That's the Butte des Morts over there. Lake Butte des Morts. Butte des Morts. Yep. Des Morts. It's on the other side of the bridge. What's the deepest lake in Wisconsin? Superior I guess is partially- Green...
27:02
in Wisconsin. Green. Ah. Big Cedar second. I lived on that lake. Oh. Yeah, I, Lake Superior doesn't count 'cause it's not entirely enclosed. Green Lake, nice lake. Got sturgeon down on the bottom of that lake. Really?
27:14
Oh, yeah. There are big sturgeon down there. You don't know what's down there. It's a beautiful lake. It's not Loch Ness, but it's deep. Yeah, it's a beautiful lake. No Nessie down there. It's just greenie.
27:23
It's expensive. Yeah, true that. If you wanna live on that lake, you better come with seven, eight, maybe nine digits to buy. Nine. Nine times three, six, nine. It's a lot. That's a lot of digits. That's a lot of digits.
27:36
So much nine. It's nine. Like 96. So much nine. Show number 96. So, uh- Oh... tomorrow is the reforestation race up there in, uh, the Snow Crown, second in the Snow Crown series. Oh. Oh, where is it?
27:49
Up, up there Green Bay way, Sumico. Green Bay. Reforestation Camp.
27:53
If you're, if you're a person that likes stuff that's f- flat-ish, there's not a lot of elevation change, and has some double track for passing and some really nice single track for just grooving on, it's a really great place to ride.
28:06
Um, probably a decent place to race too, since there's enough double track to get past people. Yeah. It's not just a follow the leader kinda thing.
28:15
I, I recommend it if you, uh, feel like you're gonna be able to be socially safe and whatnot. Go ahead and check it out. Snowcrownseries.com or some such..com.
28:27
Uh, yeah, and then the Birkie's coming up there, but that's way later. Birkie. Yeah. And yeah, Justin Timberlake birthday. When's Justin Timberlake's birthday? Rest in peace. Oh, that's March 17th. Around the Birkie.
28:37
Rest in peace. Yep, yep, March 17th. Middle of the week, so there's gonna have to be- Is it this, this year? Yeah. Oh, okay. It's middle of the week this year, so there, like, in- Is there gonna be a memorial ride?...
28:47
in whatever March tradition of other things, it would be a week before. Justin Timberlake's not dead yet. He's totally dead, man. No. Oh, yeah. They fixed it? No, I think, yeah, I think that some calamity...
29:00
Maybe this will memorialize then. I don't know. Well, it'll, should be able to be fixed somehow. Oh, that looked pretty broke. [laughs] Well, just have a piece, I don't know, zip tied to another rig and [laughs] Maybe.
29:12
Well, it was old enough to drink. I think it's 24 or 5 years old. I think it's older than that. Some sort of GT from the olden times. Yeah, that's an, that's an old GT, man.
29:21
Yep, with the, with the extra cycle conversion on it. He can reuse the free rad though. Yeah. Well, that's the nice thing about- Oh... the bolt-on one is that you can reuse it. Oh, you can use it for everything.
29:31
It's not, it's not some- I've put that in, like, six bikes. I kinda miss mine. I, it was a whippy thing, but- Yeah, it, it was flexy... flexy. Flexible flyer. I still have two. Right on.
29:43
Well, uh, I think, uh, next week hopefully we're gonna have our buddy Dan that moved up to Anchorage from Milwaukee give us a shout. He said, uh, he should be able to call in,
29:56
and I don't know if we're gonna have Bill Fleming on, but he's works at Bill's shop up there in Anchorage. Anchorage. The Trek store that Bill runs up in Anchorage where they don't have any fat bikes.
30:04
You're anchoring down in Anchorage. Trek, uh, Trek pulled not totally the plug like, uh, Specialized did, but they're definitely pulling back on producing fat bikes. [phone notification] They rode the crest of the wave,
30:19
and then they bailed like some- Yeah... punk surfer man. Like some marketing person- Oh, Lord... who thinks only about dollars. By the way, Bill was one of the founders of 907 as well, so- Nice... he was there before.
30:36
I don't know. Hopefully Bill c- can keep that rolling. I think he sold it out actually, but fat bikes and Anchorage, uh, go together like, uh, bacon and ham. Mm. And Canadian bacon.
30:48
Like [laughs] Well, it's 'cause I made a bacon and ham and cheese sandwich today, so it was very good. That was before I had the- Those are made from pork bellies. Yeah. And pork bellies- [laughs]...
30:57
and a little bit of pork belly... you may know has some bacon. Bacon. Bacon. That you may find in a bacon and lettuce and tomato sandwich, Billy Ray. [laughs] All right, folks. Hopefully Dan gives us a shout next week.
31:12
We'll have something interesting to talk about- Dan... up Anchorage way. Yes, yeah. We'll talk to you next weekend. Face, oh, you are facing north.
31:17
Hey, if, you know, if you all wanna call too, you can always call 717-727-2453. That spells PIE. About 7:00 PM CST on Wednesdays. We'll, we'll possibly take your call if I actually see it. Just call. We'll talk.
31:29
No big whoop. Yes, we will. It'll be nice. Don't worry about it. We shall talk. Hey, next week, everybody. Bye.
31:36
[upbeat music]
