- 0:01When we try to define consciousness, we tend to do it
- 0:04from an individual standpoint, our own state of awareness.
- 0:09From a broader perspective, however, we can see that
- 0:12consciousness exceeds both in scope and power, that of the
- 0:17individual status. Western science is moving toward
- 0:21a view that will eventually agree with the insights of the
- 0:24ancient grishes and sages, as it has definitively determined that
- 0:30matter is a form of energy and in fact maintains immense energy
- 0:35potential locked up in the concentrated form that we call
- 0:38matter. The definition set forth by
- 0:41Einstein, E equals MC squared, describes the amount of energy
- 0:47in matter as being the mass of the matter times the speed of
- 0:52light squared, an enormous number.
- 0:56Now scientists on the cutting edge of theoretical science are
- 1:00beginning to recognize that energy itself is a form of
- 1:04consciousness. They have not yet developed a
- 1:07formula for the conversion of energy into pure consciousness,
- 1:12but maybe we can start with C equals EC squared as a first
- 1:18step, recognizing that the inherent level of consciousness
- 1:22contained within any quantum of energy is an immense number.
- 1:28It is of course not possible to contain consciousness within a
- 1:33specific formula of this type, but we need to at least
- 1:37recognize that it encompasses the creation of energy and
- 1:41matter without itself being limited.
- 1:46Turning then to the implications of this approach for any
- 1:49individual life, it is clear that enormous powers of
- 1:53consciousness lie contained, latent, embedded within our
- 1:58physical body and our vital energetic being.
- 2:02Liberation of even a small amount of this latent
- 2:06consciousness can have a transformative effect, just as
- 2:10the liberation of energy from matter represents a powerful
- 2:15force in its own right. Doctor de Lal writes quote.
- 2:22The term power is often used to mean force of influence,
- 2:26political, financial or social. Such external power is to be
- 2:31distinguished from the powers within spoken of in this book,
- 2:35consisting of abilities, capacities or faculties which
- 2:41are inherent in the human constitution, though more or
- 2:44less dormant or undeveloped. According to the Vedantic view,
- 2:50the fundamental reality constituting the human being as
- 2:54well as the universe is Chit or consciousness.
- 2:59All energy, dynamism or power comes from consciousness.
- 3:05For as Sri Aurobindo states quote, absolute consciousness is
- 3:11in its nature absolute power. The nature of chit is Shakti
- 3:16force. End Quote, Doctor Delal
- 3:21continues. Therefore chit is called also
- 3:24chit Shakti, consciousness, force.
- 3:28Thus the different forms of consciousness, physical, vital,
- 3:34mental, subliminal, subconscious and superconscious are different
- 3:40formulations of powers of consciousness.
- 3:43In our ordinary state of consciousness we identify
- 3:46ourselves with our separate individual self, called the ego,
- 3:51and seek power for the aggrandizement of the ego.
- 3:55But from a deeper point of view, all the endeavours of the ego
- 4:00are motivated unconsciously by the urge to discover one's true
- 4:05self and its powers of consciousness.
