It's still welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition to the Surreal Day Show
0:20
EPISOD number six nineties free for May twenty fifth, twenty twenty three. This
0:26
is your Memorial Day Weekend three wrestling and pay per View Predictions and preview and
0:34
Prediction special edition of SRTEL where we preview in predict the kind of champions Ay
0:40
ww nov in the nineteenth Bottle Brown all on this week session of the show.
0:45
I am one half of the program. I am Jeff Peck joined every
0:49
single week with my coast one only doctor Trey Franklin. Doctor Trey. I
0:52
didn't know what to call this weekend when it comes to wrestling, my friend,
0:55
So you just decide that you're going to go through a lot of words
0:58
at it and hopefully something stuck. Is that, Yeah, like Memorial Day
1:02
three peat Extravaganza, pay per view LoveFest. I don't know, it's weird.
1:07
It's a lot. Yeah, there's a lot of stuff going on this
1:10
weeginning. It simply Memorial Days usually not a big wrestling weekend because people are
1:15
out traveling and people are out visiting family. So anyw and wwe just said,
1:21
hey, guys, through it where does it throw over three wrestling shows
1:23
at you? Hopefully you don't leave your house. So let's get this out
1:26
of the way. How um, because you do a wrestling podcast, Like,
1:30
how frustrated are you with having a look at three wrestling shows this weekend?
1:34
A Memorial Day weekend. Because I gotta be honest, I am,
1:38
Oh yeah. And for me with my with my job, like we run
1:42
events on weekends, and so I have a Hot Air Jubilee event I'm working
1:49
at this weekend. I have a Lake show I'm working at this weekend,
1:53
and then still trying to cramend time for wrestling and his look. I'm also
1:57
a chubby guy from the South. At some point I gotta get on the
1:59
grill and cook some food for my family. So it's it's completely stressful.
2:02
The upside is I'm on the East Coast right now recording the show. I'm
2:07
actually sitting outside on my dad's porch, just out of the elements. It's
2:13
a beautiful day. So this is like, you know, a Memorial Day
2:15
weekend kickoff. At least for me, I get to talk about wrestling.
2:20
I get to talk about Also, don't forget I got to recap wrestling Conforce
2:23
two at the end of the show. Yeah, this is uh, this
2:25
is strange because I gotta be honest, right, Memorial Day weekend is a
2:30
very busy weekend. I know, aw double or nothing has always happened Amorial
2:35
Day weekend, Right, it's the fourth time. So for those that are
2:37
being like, oh well, well this is this is not anything new.
2:42
It isn't a sense of having three shows w WE going back to back.
2:46
I want to say w WE did a show maybe last year in Saudi Arabia
2:51
around this time. I'm may be completely wrong on that. I just I
2:53
just feel like this has happened before. But I mean, of all weekends
2:58
here, at least in the United States, this is a big weekend that
3:00
is the unofficial kickoff to summer. Like Doctor Drey said, families, friends,
3:05
they're gathering together, they're having barbecues, they're outside, they're grilling.
3:08
They're not inside their home at one o'clock on a Saturday afternoon watching a wrestling
3:15
show. They're not home maybe late on a Sunday night at eight o'clock to
3:21
watch a wrestling show. I thought this was a very peculiar move by at
3:27
least a week to do this because it's been AW Double or Nothing weekend,
3:30
and I get it. AW likes to do these shows on Memorial Day weekend,
3:35
Labor Day weekend, and even in my same gripe when it comes to
3:38
all Out in September, doctor, it's like, why would you choose a
3:44
holiday weekend, especially ones where most people aren't home or outside to book these
3:51
shows. It's it's a little bit of a headscratcher, to be honest with
3:53
you. Yeah, Sometimes, like with AW, when you do a show
3:57
in Vegas, I think they're banking on the attendance more than the pay per
4:00
view draw because in Vegas, if you're in Vegas on a World Day weekend,
4:03
like you're just looking for something to do, that's not going to get
4:06
you arrested. So hey, I can go check out Double or Nothing,
4:10
and you know, I can have some fun watch the guy, like watch
4:13
some big, sweaty men fight while wearing their underwear. The WWE aspect of
4:17
it is peculiar because doing this show in Saudi also is kind of not about
4:23
the live gate or not about the pay per view audience, because you're running
4:27
it at one o'clock in the afternoon, So it's it's more about the in
4:31
you know, the in arena crowd than anything else, and trying to capitalize
4:35
on that good Saudi money they're drawing in for So maybe in reality, this
4:41
isn't about the at home fans. It's about the people that are actually gonna
4:44
be there in the building this weekend. I suppose it is. I suppose
4:48
it is. I don't know. This is justum strange, but nonetheless,
4:51
we got three shows to cover. We'll pre and predict it all for you
4:56
on this week's This Chell, get you ready for the weekend, and then
4:59
tune in next week when it's like, Okay, did were they able to
5:01
watch ten hours of wrestling over a two day span on a Memorial Day weekend
5:08
and also do it with all the other wrestling stuff going on? So stay
5:12
tuned for that on next week's sessition The Pot Doctor Try. Let's start with
5:15
the first show here at w Knight of Champions previewing predictions this Saturday from the
5:18
Jetta Superdome in Jedda, Saudi Arabia. We'll start with the first match here,
5:24
Becky Lydge taken on Tris Stratus. I'll give my prediction here first.
5:29
I like Tris Stratus winning this one. I think if if they're going to
5:31
continue this feud moving forward, which is the word on the street that this
5:34
feud is not a one and done, then Trish needs to get a victory
5:38
here to make the baby face want to come back and get a victory.
5:40
So I'm gonna go with Trish Stratus. Yeah, because to me, not
5:44
only is this the kick off the summer, so also the road of SummerSlam,
5:46
and if you want to get this view to SummerSlam, you gotta have
5:49
a little bit of back and forth. So I'm with you. I'm taking
5:53
Trish and her new Heel, new Rediscovered Eel persona winning by some chicanery to
6:00
get the way of Rebecca Lynch on this show, so we both got true
6:04
Stratus. Next match here is for the w SmackDown Women's Championship. Ria Ripley
6:11
defends against Natalia Doctor Trey. What say you? So the raw people are
6:15
wrestling for the SmackDown Women's Championship in Saudi Arabia. I'm going with Riya.
6:20
This is kind of like we see this when they start these dominant runs.
6:25
They build up some folks to look like credible challengers, but on paper really
6:30
like I really camera the last time to Italia won a singles match, you
6:34
know, before this few kind of kicked off. So I'm gonna say Ria
6:38
because they just really to me, haven't built rebuilt Italia's credibility by this point.
6:43
Yeah, I've got Rita Ripley in this one as well. I think
6:46
the build for this has been very weak. Granted we have not seen the
6:49
taped edition of SmackDown that's supposed to air tomorrow night to see if it gets
6:54
further along, and I did not read any SmackDown spoilers. I know there's
6:58
been like these backstage vignettes, and I think Nataia came to the aid of
7:02
someone recently on SmackDown to kind of further this. But it's been a very
7:06
weak build and ri has been very dominant. So, like Doctor Trey's point,
7:11
Natalia hasn't had much screen time or singles victory. So I'm taking Riha
7:15
Ripley in this one that takes us to the next match for the w W
7:17
Raw Woman's Championship, Bianca Belair Defense against Osca. This one is a tough
7:24
one to call, but I'm going to go with Osca to win the Raw
7:27
Woman's Championship to end Bianca Belair's historic over one year plus rain. Reason being
7:34
is if Osca doesn't win the win the championship, now it's like, then
7:40
what do you do with her at this point forward? I think she's a
7:42
very strong competitor. This is not a throwaway opponent for Bianca Belair. She
7:46
needs the victory. So I'm gonna take Osca getting the w over Bianca.
7:50
Doctor Trey. See, this one's hard for me because of what we've already
7:55
picked. So I've already picked two quote unquote heels in Saudi Arabia, Bianca's
8:03
a huge straw over there, like they really really like her. So I'm
8:05
gonna pick Bianca retaining just because I feel like they have to have one of
8:09
their top baby faced females get a win, and Bianca's the most logical choice
8:16
out of the three options there. Next match, here's for the Intercontinental Championship
8:20
as Gunther defense against Mustafa Ali. Doctor Trey will start with you see,
8:24
if this is this is Man's store, it'd be a whole different ball game
8:26
for me. Oh yeah, definitely. So I think this is kind of
8:33
the Riha Zelina match we saw from you know, backlash next last month where
8:37
Mustafa is gonna get a huge pop. But in the end, I think
8:39
Gunther retained just because he's just more physically dominant, and I think we're setting
8:45
up for eventually Gunther and Riddle here in the next month or so, So
8:50
I'll take Gunther retaining. I like Hume taking Gunther to retain. They've definitely
8:54
been pushing the tea leaves for Riddle to be feuding with Gunther here soon.
9:01
Mustaf Ali getting this match being that it is in Saudi Arabia. I'm a
9:05
big Mustaf Ali fan. I've not enjoyed the like Ali positive or whatever positive
9:13
Ali gimmick that he's been doing lately, and he's kind of shed that character
9:20
some over the last week or two preparing for this match and gone back to
9:24
just the normal Mustaf Ali heading into it. He's a very talented wrestler.
9:30
I think he is someone that has deserved an opportunity to be in this title
9:35
picture before and hasn't had those shots given to him. I think that this
9:41
match has the capability of really stealing the show. I expect a great performance
9:46
out of Mustafa Ali, a typical performance from Gunther. I'm really looking forward
9:50
to this match, and I hope it puts mustaf Ali on the map.
9:52
So with that said, even in a loss, I think mustaf Ali will
9:58
be putting on a great show. But I'm going to take con th to
10:01
retain the Intercondinal Championship and then that takes us to the undisputed WWE Tag Team
10:05
Championship match. Kevin Owens and Sammy Zane defend against Roman Rains and Solo Socoa.
10:11
This is a tough one to call, being that Roman Rains is in
10:13
this match. The stuff that's going on with Roman and Solo and the USOS
10:20
is very intriguing. That looks to be the next layer of this bloodline storyline.
10:26
We had that little subtle bump of Roman into Solo this past Friday on
10:31
SmackDown when he was exiting the ringing of the USOS attacked Kevin Owens and Sammy
10:33
Zaine and Romans was upset with them for doing that was not part of the
10:37
plan that Roman had in place, and Solo did not take that well.
10:41
I think that gets furthered this coming Saturday in Night of Champions and I think
10:46
that's what leads to Kevin Owens and Sammy Usine retaining. I don't know if
10:52
Romans costs Solo the match or if Solo actually attacks Roman. I can't see
10:56
that yet, but it's interesting what's bubbling up right now with the bloodline.
11:01
Roman reigns and Solo Sukoa and I think that this could be the final end
11:07
of this Kevin Owens Sammy Zane bloodline storyline, ending at Night of Champions.
11:11
So I'm gonna take Kevin Owens and Sammy Zane. And I also want to
11:13
make an interesting point here, Kevin Owens and Sammy Zane making the trek to
11:18
Saudi Arabia. Sammy Zane Syrian descent, is going there because of the recent
11:24
peaceful relations between Saudi Arabia and Syria. So interesting that those two are making
11:30
the trip. With that said, kaow and Sammy retain Doctor Trey. Yeah.
11:33
By the way, I love that. The story I read is that
11:35
since Sammy decided he was going, Kevin goes Okay, I'll go. Yeah.
11:39
That's the reason why Kevin like openly wasn't going too. Yeah. It's
11:43
like Kevin's not going to Sammy's not going, Okay, Sammy's going, Okay,
11:46
I'll go. I just love that like that. That does show like
11:48
that friendship, Like, look, I got my boys back. If he
11:50
decides he wants to go, because of all the history, I'll go.
11:54
If he's not going, I'm not going. So I love that friendship will
11:58
level of it team as well. But yeah, like you said, the
12:00
match itself is a pretty interesting dynamic because like, I'm with you, I'm
12:03
taking Kevin and Sammy to retain just because would you end, for one,
12:07
when you end the USO's title reign, you gotta get a little bit of
12:13
longevity out of it. It doesn't have to be as long as that as
12:16
the USO's run was, but you need a little bit of time to kind
12:18
of not only give Sammy and Kevin credibility but also Land credence to the run
12:24
of the USOS. So like about how it comes to shake out is interesting
12:28
me because in a sense, Roman has made Solo the USO's keeper, even
12:33
though he's the little brother to Jimmy and Jay and so now Solo, who's
12:37
always been the little brothers, Now like do I go with my cousin who's
12:41
the tribal achieve? Do I go with my brothers? I love that dynamic
12:45
to it because it really does. Anybody's got a big family knows how that
12:48
shakes out. So I'm taking Kevin as Sammy, I think the USO's getting
12:52
involved in that costs Solo and Roman the match, and then we see Roman
12:56
breaks Solo later on for allowing his brothers the your fear so Sammy and Kevin
13:01
for the way, and also just because they're making the trips their first time
13:03
the side of the radio. Next match, here's Cody Rhodes versus Brock Lesner,
13:07
which has been a pretty decent build over the last couple of weeks.
13:09
Heading and a night of champions h Doctor Turil. Let's start with you,
13:13
Cody or Brock. I'm taking Brock because of the you know, the rib
13:18
injury, the broken armage. I mean, they're they're basically denting up Cody
13:22
Rhods so that way, when Brock beats them, it doesn't hurt Cody Rhodes,
13:26
but they're taking the law. So I will tell you, Brock,
13:30
I do think and I didn't get your thoughts on this earlier, the whole
13:33
triple H Cody Rhodes exchange at the end of the raw, What did you
13:37
think about that? I'm going to take Brock Lesner as well, so both
13:41
taking Brock of course, the across the board. I think that was giving
13:45
some love to Cody Rhodes there with Triple H. So Cody wasn't listening to
13:50
any WI officials we all know, or at least it's been promoted decently well,
13:56
the Cody Roades's favorite wrestler's triple H. Here's Triple H coming out there
14:00
and saying you don't have to do that and all this stuff, and Cody
14:05
basically said, no, I'm going to do it. I thought the end
14:09
to Raw was very well done. I thought it was great acting by both
14:15
guys and added to the credence of it a little bit more. I think
14:18
the layer to this entire thing of him being potentially afraid of taking on Brock
14:22
and not wanting to admit it. Having the believed broken arm from Brock,
14:28
all the beatdowns he's been getting and coming back up again and fighting back and
14:33
smarting Brock at Broco at backlash, it's making me wonder, like, what's
14:37
the payoff here? So we figured Brock wins is the payoff that Brock kind
14:41
of gives him a little bit of a rub at the end of this Doctor
14:46
Trey where maybe Cody gets the third victory, whether it be at Money in
14:48
the Bank or SummerSlam, and Brock like shakes his hand something we haven't seen
14:54
and shows him some respect. I don't know if that's playing into it,
14:58
but I've enjoyed this few For a feud that started off on a really bad
15:01
foot the night after WrestleMania, this has been very well done. Yeah,
15:07
I've also enjoyed the build up. I thought it was kind of It's weird
15:11
when you're watching that segment because I'm like, this is kind of them also
15:15
also shutting up the internet marks about the whole like well, Triple Chi and
15:18
Cody really haven't, you know, talked about the whole Throne incident, you
15:22
know, And it's like, all right, look that was also their way
15:24
of kind of bearing that thing, if anybody remembers. Brock Lesser also broke
15:30
Triple H's arm storyline wise with a comeral loss, so it makes sense also
15:33
when trip La is talking to Cody about that, like I know what this
15:37
is that, I'm like, oh, yeah, Brock Brookes Triple Lagos are
15:41
and leading into a match as well. So I love the layers on it
15:43
as well, so this has been, like you said, for a few
15:46
that started on arguably the worst raw after WrestleMania, in the history of this
15:50
company. That was the one thing that kind of came out of that show
15:54
and for them to actually build up a decent, you know, feud and
15:58
making it enjoyable enough for everybody to want to watch, like that's that's great,
16:02
And like you said, I'm interesting, like what the actual payoffs going
16:06
to be. I don't know if I can everythe brock Lesner shaking Cody's hand,
16:08
but at least the nod or something to give, yeah, you know,
16:14
the hot tips something like that. But that's also we talked about,
16:18
like this is really showing Cody having to overcome obstacles to get back in the
16:22
hunt for a world title. He's now like you're seeing him physically beaten up.
16:26
Mentally, he's been beaten up. This is him starting to overcome those
16:30
obstacles that real true like top baby phases need to have in order to build
16:33
that credibility. Remember Kurt Angle recently saying on his podcast that he felt like
16:38
brock Lesar should be using his star power right now to creating more stars.
16:41
And this was written around the time with Bobby Lashly. I would argue that
16:47
that did not happen with Bobby Lashly, but maybe the Suffer scene with Cody
16:49
Rhodes is making Cody Rhodes elevated based on this feud. So it should be
16:55
an interesting one night of champions Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesner. Both of us
16:57
taken Brock to get the victory, and then that takes us to the tournament
17:00
final for the inaugural w W World Away Championship as Seth Freaking Rollins takes on
17:06
AJ Styles. I'm going to take Seth Freaking Rollins in this one, Doctor
17:08
Trey because he is a Raw superstar. The title is supposed to be saying
17:12
on Raw, AJ is on SmackDown. I think that would be really weird
17:18
if they put the Raw title on a SmackDown star, which has kind of
17:22
been my gribe throughout the entire tournament. I think this match has gonna be
17:25
a lot of fun. It's Seth's time to be a world champion. His
17:27
vignettes lately, his interview vignettes with Corey Graves has kind of been shining him
17:33
in a brighter light than AJ Styles, even though they had a very good
17:37
video package this past week's edition of of Raw. I think the focus has
17:41
been Rollins leading the charge and being the facilitator of change with what you would
17:47
say during the Roman Reigns era of championship title reigns. So I'm taking Seth
17:52
freaking Rollins to get the victory and become the new World away Champion. Yeah.
17:56
As much as I love AJ and I'm as glads the AJ back Hans,
18:00
it's kind of funny watching Aja have to wrestle all the time and Seth
18:03
gets then yet treatment. But then again, Seth Rollins is out filming Captain,
18:08
you know, the new Captain American movies. But not only is he
18:11
a raw superstar, not only is he probably the face of your company,
18:12
but he's becoming a movie star as well. So once again, if you're
18:17
gonna put your title on phone buddy, hey, the media exposure he's going
18:22
to get when this movie comes out, it is going to help your brand
18:25
as well. So it is a SmackDown person challenging for a raw title.
18:30
So it's not crazy because we see this in two other title matches on this
18:33
show, but it sets time. I would love to see AJ b one
18:40
of the next challengers for Roman. Here as the fallout from this, but
18:44
you know, right now it's time for Seth to ascend to the thrones of
18:48
to speak. Let's carry over to Sunday night. Now, this Sunday from
18:52
the Songa Center in Lowe, Massachusetts will be NXT Battle Round. Let's look
18:56
at the first match here, Doctor Trey for the NXT Tag Team Championship,
19:00
Gallas Defense against the Creed Brothers. Doctor Trey, let's start with you.
19:03
Who do you like in this one to walk out as NXC Tag Team Champions.
19:07
As much as I love the run of Gallas, I'm taking the Creeds.
19:10
I just think it's their time to kind of regain that tag team title.
19:15
I've become like You've hooked me more on the Creeds than anybody else,
19:19
and I think it's their time. So I'll take the Creepos getting the way
19:23
to become the new NXC Tag Team Champions. I really want to pick the
19:26
Creeds. I am a huge fan of the Creeds. I love what they're
19:30
doing now in an NX team, but I just feel like Gallas is retaining
19:36
this one. It's it's like how I feel where I've been completely wrong about
19:40
the Wesley title right when it comes to previewing predictions, and we'll see if
19:42
I'm wrong again later on in the show. So I'm gonna be taking Gallas
19:48
to win this match and retain the NXC Tag Team Championship, all right,
19:53
Doctor Trey. Next match here is the Last man Standing match Eliot dragging Off
19:59
taken on die They've had a pretty decent building few thus far, very enjoyable
20:03
on NXC television. Sometimes a little bit too weird for my liking, but
20:07
enjoyable. Nonetheless, I'm gonna go with Elia dragging Off getting the victory here.
20:11
I think the former NXC UK champion could use nice singles win, so
20:14
I'm taking Elia. This one's hard on me because I don't know about you,
20:18
but I have heard the rumors about him potentially joining Imperium, and if
20:22
that's the case, I think I'm gonna go a die Jack in this one
20:25
because die Jack really hasn't had a big win either, so I think both
20:27
these guys could use the win. I'm just gonna take die Jack because I
20:30
think they might move dragging Off up to Raw to pair them with Imperiod.
20:34
Next match here is for the NXC North American Championship. It's a triple threat
20:40
match as Wesley defense against Tyler Bate and Joe Gacy. Doctor Trey, Who
20:44
do you liking this one? This is more because I hate taking against west
20:48
Lee, but if anybody on this roster needs a big win, it's Joe
20:53
Gacy. So I think I'm gonna lean Gaycy on this one just because Lee's
20:59
had a great run. But I mean, you have the Rocks daughter in
21:03
your faction, the diet tried to leave the company, we got to kind
21:07
of create some harmonies. So I think I'm gonna take Joe Gaycy. You
21:10
know, I have been completely over on this Wesley North American Championship run.
21:15
I have not predicted any of his matches correct at all. I've always felt
21:19
like he's going to be dropping the championship, and I think he drops the
21:23
championship again. I'm going to take Joe Gaycy. Just like Doctor Trey.
21:27
I think this feeds into a storyline with Tyler Bate, and I'm going to
21:32
take Joe Gaysey as the new North American Champion. I do want to say
21:37
on last week's show, I mentioned some of my favorite champions right now are
21:40
gunther Over on Raw Orange Cassie in a w I think Wesley falls into that
21:47
same category for me right now, Doctor Trey, he has been a really
21:49
fun and enjoyable North American champion thus far. Yeah, and the great thing
21:55
about it this is, you know, is it your plates guy. This
21:57
is one of the guys that you're When he was running an XT, he
22:00
brought him and Zach wentz over and you know from TNA. Unfortunately, Zach
22:04
you know, had some issues and they let him go. But to see
22:07
west Lee grow from me, you know, they had him kind of you
22:11
know, pigeonholed a tag team guy to having a really strong North American title
22:15
run. Both well for his future in the company. Also, next match
22:18
here is a British Round rules match for the NXC Heritage Cup as No m
22:23
Dar defense against Dragon Lee. Again, I can't imagine they put Dragon Lee
22:27
in a match to lose. The Noam Dark character is very entertaining, fun
22:32
to watch. Really enjoyed the stuff when he went over at nxc UK.
22:36
The Heritage Cup matches are a lot of fun. I enjoyed them in a
22:38
nxc UK as well, and I'm happy that they've been carried over to the
22:41
US version. Of NXT. But in this one, I am taking Dragon
22:45
Lee to win the NXC Heridage Cup, Doctor Trey, See if we did
22:49
send me one of those shoals where you smoke me and gained like four or
22:52
five wins over me, Because I'm gonna take no m Dar because, like
22:56
you said, he's very entertaining. The Heritage Cup rules are a little bit
23:00
different and I can see Noam Dar getting awarded the title on a technicality where
23:03
it doesn't hurt Dragon Lee. So I'll take noam Dar retaining because plus you
23:07
get the whole Nathan Frasier aspect that ties into it as well. So I'll
23:11
just take noam Dar just out of sheer curiosity to see what they're doing with
23:17
Dragon Lee. If that's the case, they go. Next match here is
23:21
the tournament final for the vacant NXE Women's Championship. A little bit of a
23:26
surprise here with Lear Valkyria being in this finals. I'm happy for her to
23:29
get this opportunity. She'll be taken on Tiffany Stratton to crown the next NXE
23:33
Women's champion, Doctor Trey. Who do you like in this one? Oh?
23:37
Yeah? The Leria of Valcourrie being in the finals is kind of surprising
23:41
to me. This is always like Tiffany Stratton's tournament to lose. So I'm
23:45
gonna take Tiffany Stratton because I just I see that her being, you know,
23:48
in that mold of what they did with Mandy Rose, where they've bellish
23:52
Charlotte in the past. This is a formula for success, So I will
23:56
take Tiffy Stratton to win. I like you, I'm taking Tiffany's Stratton as
24:00
well. I had felt like she was a little bit too green with her
24:04
matches recently, and then I watched that match with Roxann Perez and I thought
24:07
it was one of, if not her best match that I've seen her performance
24:11
in her very short career in NXT. This is the same vein Doctor Trey
24:18
for me, as like a natural athlete that can put it together in the
24:22
ring. It reminds me a lot of watching Charlotte Flair in the early days
24:26
of NXT, Bianca Belair in the early days of NXT. I feel like
24:30
Tiffany Stratton fits that mold and her character is very good as well. Do
24:33
you see the lineage there of Tiffany Stratton to be comparable to the NXC days
24:37
of Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair as well. Because the one thing, and
24:41
this is something that I don't want to say average, is footwork and placement
24:45
in the ring, being in the right spot to take a move or be
24:49
able to deliver a move. That part she has down naturally. It is
24:52
kind of her issues already been kind of like putting the match together in the
24:57
psychology of she's doing the ring, but from a natural athlete perspective and watching
25:03
what she's doing. Yeah, it's very reminiscent of Charlotte's first few matches until
25:07
she figured out what wrestling was, Bianca her first few matches before she figured
25:11
out how to put a match together. It's it's very reminiscent of that.
25:14
And like I said a second ago, like this, like this is those
25:17
natural things they look for now. That's why they're doing the NI or the
25:19
NX or was it next in line? They're nil deals because they're looking for
25:25
natural athletes that they can teach wrestling too, as opposed to finding wrestlers,
25:30
and they have to break batt has to mold into the WWE scope. Next
25:34
match, here's the main event for the NXC championship is Carmelo Hayes returns to
25:37
his hometown home state of Massachusetts to defend against Broun Breaker, Doctor Trey.
25:44
Who do you like in this one? So, Jim, do you remember
25:47
the last time a title belt trains in Lower Massachusetts? Was it Samoa Joe
25:51
or Finnbellerbell on a not a live show? It was a house show of
25:56
all things. So, m I don't think we get that here. I
26:00
do. I think Carmelo retains over a braun Breaker, but I'm still confused.
26:06
They did this baby phase heel double turn thing and it just kind of
26:10
came out of nowhere. But hey, both guys are kind of taking too
26:12
like ducks to water. I saw somebody go, what if Trick turns on
26:18
Carmelo and the size of Braun I'm like, that would just be weird.
26:19
I just couldn't see those two guys meshing well. But I'll take Carmelo retaining
26:25
right now because I do think braun Break will be on the main roster by
26:29
summers Lam. Yeah. I had a tough time picking this one because it
26:33
was like, well, they're gonna put bron Breaker up on the main roster.
26:34
They should have done it during the draft. Of course, as you
26:37
just said, they could do it at anytime. It is w they control
26:40
their own rules, because it's like, Okay, well, if bron takes
26:44
the loss here, what do you do with Broun Breaker next? And I
26:47
don't know, his characters have been a lot more edgy since turning heel on
26:52
the NXT brand. It just kind of feels like, in a normal path
26:56
that Braun would win this match, win the championship, and this few we
27:00
continue and they'll carry it on for the summer months in NXT and and maybe
27:03
maybe it sets Brawn up for a run in the main roster after Survivor Series
27:07
or the Royal Rum. But what have you. But like Doctor Trey,
27:11
I'm gonna stick with my guns here. I'm gonna go with Carmelo Hayes.
27:15
So I'm gonna take Carmelo Hayes to retain. It's it's a tough call because
27:18
it's like, Okay, what do they do with Braun Breaker next? But
27:22
I've got Carmelo Hayes retain the NAC championship as well. And that also now
27:26
carries us over to the final Sunday night show from the T Mobile Arena.
27:32
In Paradise, Nevada. I saw that on Wikipedo. I was like,
27:34
Paradise Nevada. I never heard of that before. But it's a town in
27:37
Las Vegas or next to Las Vegas. So I thought this was in Las
27:41
Vegas. But it's Paradise. It's Paradise Nevada. Doctor Trey did not know
27:45
that existed. I do not know my geography of the Cinciti area. But
27:49
here we are aw or nothing preview and predicting this show. Now, let's
27:55
start with probably one of the matches I am most forward to all weekend long
28:02
w E n X t A w Adam Cole versus Chris Jericho in a unsanctioned
28:07
match with Sabu as the special guest enforcer. Sabu is back on wrestling television.
28:14
It was interesting surprise this past Wednesday night. With that said, really
28:18
looking forward to this match. The feud has been good. This is a
28:22
dream match. I've got Adam Cole to defeat Chris Jericho and carry this momentum
28:27
onto an eventual AW World Championship match. Doctor Trey, what say you?
28:32
Adam Cole versus Chris Jericho. I've gone back and forth on this one.
28:37
A little bit, just because when you have you know, a last man
28:40
standing falls count anywhere, you know, any of those kind of matches where
28:44
other people can get involved, it does kind of maybe want to lean towards
28:49
the guy that has a stable. Adding Sabu to the megs, plus you
28:52
have the Roderick Strong and in Lord knows, you could have Kyle O'Reilly pop
28:57
up. You know, you never know, So I'm with you. I'm
29:00
taking Adam Cole as well, because I do think at some point we get
29:03
to Cole and m JF or something like that for the for the world title.
29:07
So I'll take Adam Cole getting the victory over Chris Jericho. Is there
29:10
a table spot involving Sabu um that or a barbier spot? It might be
29:18
one of the two. I'm not sure. There will probably be a table
29:21
spot. I just don't know if it'll be Sabo going through it. Yeah,
29:23
yeah, it's he threw the chair. He threw the chair on Wednesday
29:26
night. So were you surprised that they went with Sabu here? I mean,
29:30
he's a wrestling legend, but he's like an underground wrestling legend. He's
29:37
a legend, and this like the AW fans know who Sabo is, Like,
29:41
that's he got a good pop when he came out. I mean that
29:42
showed the crowd knew who he was. I was surprised because there's no real
29:47
tie to either guy, like Sabu and Jericho didn't have a ton of ECW
29:52
matches and Adam Cole and Sabo maybe have passed at a convention, but they
29:56
have never wrestled. I just didn't know what the tie in was where it
30:00
made sense to feature him in this role. Yeah, it's in using When
30:03
they were like and he lives in Vegas, I'm like, man, is
30:06
it Bobby Fish? I thought Bobby Fish was from Vegas and it wasn't.
30:08
It was Sabo. I was like, okay, wow, this is what
30:11
we're doing. Next match, here is Ethan Page and the Guns taken on
30:15
the Hardies and Hook in a six man tag team match. If the Hardies
30:18
and Hook when Matt Hardy will own Ethan Page's contract. This match was changed
30:22
on AW Rampage, so spoiler alert for those that are tuning into AW Rampage,
30:26
which does not have a set time or date to be aired right now
30:30
due to the NHL and NBA playoffs. I thought that was funny. On
30:33
Wednesday's Dynamite where it's like and tune in this weekend, aw Rampage did not
30:37
promote any matches for Rampage as well, but I guess during the tapings it
30:41
was revealed that Brother's aka Isaiah Cassidy has a injury, which is a damn
30:47
shame because I do enjoy meet some private party and Hook will be taking his
30:51
place, Doctor Trey. Let's start with you here, who do you like
30:55
in this six man tag team match? Well, since Hook is involved,
30:57
I don't bet against Hook, so I will take the Hardy's and Hook getting
31:02
the win because otherwise this would be Hook's first loss. I don't even think
31:06
he's lost in a tag match yet, no he is not. And like
31:08
you, I am taking the Hardies in Hook because you don't have a stipulation
31:12
like this for not to be to utilize on television. It's like, all
31:17
right, this isn't a case where Ethan Page if he wins, he owns
31:19
Matt Hardy's contract again. And if Matt Hardy wins, he owns Ethan Pages.
31:25
It's just Ethan Pages. So I felt like they kind of tipped their
31:26
hand there with the result in this one. Next match, here's for the
31:30
AWTBS Championship, as Jade Cargill takes on Tie of Valkyrie. This is actually
31:36
a real tough one at all because Tie of Valkyrie is a formidable foe for
31:40
Jade Cargill, who as much grief as we've given her ring performances over the
31:45
years, I felt like she is starting to really improve in the ring.
31:49
Man, I really want to pick Tia, but I'm gonna stick with Jade
31:52
Cargill retaining AWTBS Championship. Doctor Trey, Yeah, once you get on a
31:57
streak like this, it's hard to pick against the Street. And this,
32:01
you know, physically is maybe you know, Jay Cargo's most formidable above because
32:06
you know, Tie of maybe not as tall, but physically matches up with
32:08
her very well. But just like Oscar's Street heading into WrestleMania a few years
32:14
ago, Gold, I don't pick against the Street until the streak ends,
32:16
So right now I'm taking Jay to retain as well. Next match, here
32:22
is the Blackpool Combat Club Brian Tannerson, John Moxley, Claudio Castagnolian Wheeler.
32:25
You to take it on the Elite of Kenny Omega match Jackson, Nick Jackson
32:30
and the reuniting Hangman Adam Page in a anarchy in the Arena match. Doctor
32:35
Trey, who do you like in this one? Well, you Hangman back
32:37
with the Elite. You're putting them in a anything goes kind of match where
32:42
they file over the arena against the group of villainous folk right now, which
32:46
I didn't realize they were villainous until the Likes just a few weeks ago.
32:51
I'm taking the Elite because you don't get Hangman and Kenny back together to make
32:54
them lose. Though Hangman and the Elite get the win, I just really
32:58
feel bad for the Dark Order because I feel like they got left of the
33:00
altar. They certainly did again by the way, like they're just a real
33:04
big punching bag for aw creative. I like you Doctor Trey and picking the
33:08
Elite as well. You don't reunite Kenny, the Young Bucks and Hangman Page
33:12
to lose in their first match together, So I'm taking the Elite as well.
33:16
I will add to what you said, they're the Blackpool Combat Club being
33:20
villainous, being heels. I don't know if I necessarily agree with that move.
33:23
I felt like they could continue what they're doing being badasses and have been
33:28
baby faces. I don't think fans want to boom Moxley specifically, and Brian
33:34
Danielson in this role, he just seems like he's having a lot of fun,
33:37
like cracking jokes and smiling like Danielson has sometimes the worst poker face in
33:42
professional wrestling when he's cracking a joke like a an inside joke and can't cover
33:47
it up. But nonetheless, I expect this match to be a ton of
33:51
fun as the elite I have. So does Doctor Trey defeating Blackpool Combat Club,
33:55
and that takes us to the next matcher for the AW Women's World Championship,
33:59
Jamie Hayter defends against Tony Storm. This is a tough one to call.
34:06
I really want to pick Jamie Hayter to retain, but I think the
34:09
outcast I've been beat up so much and falling behind that it's best for them
34:16
to finally get one over here and maybe add into Britt Baker going for the
34:21
AW Women's World Championship, and we don't know how serious Jamie Hayter's appeared to
34:25
be legit injury is, so I'm going to take Tony Storm to win the
34:30
aw Women's World Championship and maybe set up towards all in all out her women
34:36
winning the aw W Women's World Championship back from Tony Storm and maybe setting up
34:39
Adam Cole to win an aw World Championship. And that's the image that closes
34:44
out a show. And then maybe Adam coill propose a seward no pressure Adam
34:47
at all. With that said, Doctor Trey, your thoughts, I gotta
34:51
propose a lot of mine. I'm just used there a lot at me.
34:53
I'm still trying to fig out if Tony Storm is the right person from the
34:57
outcast to be in this position, Like to me, like, don't you
35:00
wouldn't you rather have Soreya in this spot. But that being said, with
35:05
you know Adam Cole having the match with Jericho earlier, you may not see
35:08
Britt Baker able to back up Jamie Hayter, which leads me to believe that
35:13
Tony Storm too will get the win and win the women's title. So I'm
35:15
going Tony Storm, didn't we kind of get the Adam Cole Britt Baker thing
35:20
with the Owen Heart Tournament. We did, and then when Adam Cole returned
35:23
as well. We've gotten that several times. Maybe Tony CON's like, I
35:27
think he's proposing to ur tonight, so this is how I'm going to do
35:29
it, and then nothing happens. Yeah, he just keeps giving him opportunities
35:31
to pop the question, and Adam Cole's like, no, no, good,
35:34
what are you talking about now? No, no, give me the
35:36
title, Give me the title. Next match, here's Orange Cassie defending the
35:39
aw International Championship in a twenty one man blackjack battle Royal. We don't know
35:45
many of the names for this, So Doctor Treit, who do you like
35:49
in this one? Orange Cassie versus the Field? Yes, yeah, basically,
35:54
um yeah, this one. It's tricky because I'm like, I mean,
35:58
obviously, with this these kind of setups, they could actually take the
36:00
belt off Orange without him losing. So I think I'll take the field.
36:06
I don't have a pick or who in the field does it? Well,
36:08
wait a minute for our predictions. You're taking twenty guys. Any one of
36:15
the twenty guys is doctor Trace predictions taking twenty guys? That sounds that's the
36:21
title of this episode. By the way, what a in my sex tape?
36:23
I know? Um yeah, I'm trying to think like because I don't
36:27
know who all is in it. I believe like members of QTV have announced,
36:30
which is a shitty creative thing anyway. So like Powerhouse Hobbs Aaron Solo,
36:37
I will because with the with Collision starting up and Hobbes is supposed to
36:40
be on Collision, I will take Powerhouse Hobbs capturing the international title because they
36:46
got to start building him back up if he's gonna be a focal point of
36:49
that new Saturday show. So there we go. I picked one of my
36:52
twenty guys, I'll pick Powerhouse Hobs. I'm gonna take Orange Cassidy to retain.
36:55
I would prefer to see Orange Cassidy a one on one match again,
37:00
really find his match is extremely enjoyable. One of my favorite champions to watch
37:04
on television right now has run as International Champion. Has been a lot of
37:08
fun as well when some of the best stuff creatively the AW is doing a
37:12
match with Kyle Fletcher from Aussie Open, who's just recently as on AW was
37:16
great on Wednesday night. I would again I would prefer one on one match,
37:22
but this if there's any champion that to defend in a Battle Royal.
37:24
It's Orange freaking Cassidy, so I expect this match to be highly entertaining,
37:28
and I've got Orange Cassidy retaining. Next match, here's for the AWT and
37:32
T Championship, which I believe is in a ladder match, is it not,
37:37
Doctor try So the letter match stipulation has me thrown for a curve here
37:44
a little bit. I would want to pick Wardlow, but to help with
37:49
the heel persona of Christian Cage, I think now is the time to put
37:52
a champion on him. You've got Lucasaurus out there. Somehow Lucasaurus leads Christian
37:57
Cage to victory. So I've got Christian Cage winning the AWT and T Championship.
38:04
Yeah see, I'm with you on this one. I think I think
38:06
Christian gets to win. I think lucas Sours helps. We might get the
38:08
little h the piggyback spot where you know, like Christian Cage is down all
38:14
the ladder like he's out of breath, and then Luca's hours comes up beneath
38:16
him and lifts him up onto his shoulders to carry him to the top,
38:20
so Christian can take down the belt once again. If you lose in a
38:22
ladder match, it doesn't really hurt you. So if that's the case,
38:25
doesn't really hurt Wardlow. So I'll take Cage getting to win. Next match.
38:30
Here's for the AW World Tag Team Championship with Mark Briscoe as the special
38:35
guest referee FTR defense against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Another good creative feud.
38:39
Thus far from the creative team in a W doctor try. Let's start
38:44
with you. Who do you like to leave as World Tag Team Champions?
38:46
Yeah? This is kind of chicky because in my head, I don't know
38:50
if I can like Jeff Jarrett's like in his mid to late fifties. I
38:54
have a hard time picking a guy at that age rage to become a World
39:00
Tag Team Champion. But Jeff Jarrett's a freak of nature in a lot of
39:04
ways. But I think I'm gonna take FTR because like the way that the
39:08
Jarrett group's been kind of leading brisco astray, I think brisco kind of smartens
39:15
up this, you know, at the at the pay per view and realize
39:17
what they've been doing to them, and FTR ends up retaining m Yeah,
39:22
this is gonna be a Is it gonna be a fun one. Again,
39:25
I've really enjoyed the feud. It's difficult, but I thought this past Wednesday's
39:31
angle led me to think that FTR is retaining, so I'm gonna take FTR
39:37
to retain as well. The layer to this is if Jay Lethal is starting
39:42
to like feel bad about how they've kind of duped Mark brisco in this entire
39:46
process to help them get into this match and learn more about how to defeat
39:50
FTRUM. But again, like, I can't believe I'm enjoying a feud in
39:55
twenty twenty three that includes Jeff Jarrett in it. But I've said it many
39:59
times and I'll say it again. The guy is timeless, Like it looks
40:02
like it's two thousand and one, Jeff Jarrett. I mean, he is
40:06
just performing extremely well and while doing that with a legit office job in AW.
40:13
So it should be fund one FTR getting the victory. I'm happy Mark
40:15
Priscoe's getting some shine on double or nothing as well. And then that takes
40:20
us to the four way match for the AW World Championship. Doctor Try.
40:22
I don't know if you've heard about this, but it's a four pillars match.
40:25
It's MJF defending against Samacavara, Darby Allen, Jungle Boy, Jack Perry.
40:30
We've talked about this feud positively. We've talked about this feud negatively.
40:37
We've showcased why it's been good over the last several months from a storyline perspective.
40:42
We've showcased why it feels weird that some of the folks in this match
40:45
are in this one based on the way that they've been booked. Negatively,
40:49
it's a polarizing matchup. But with that said, I think MJF retains and
40:57
leaves as the aw World Champion. I've got MJF retaining, Doctor Try.
41:02
I was a little confused because when they said it's a four pillars match,
41:05
I was I thought the losers might get turned into Salt, Yeah, little
41:08
Sodom and Gomora Jog for you folks at home. Yeah, but yeah,
41:14
Like to me, like, are you also Difficus, Like do you hurt
41:19
your own brand by picking one of the four to win? You know you're
41:23
trying to if you're trying to build a company up based on these four gentlemen,
41:27
you know, can anybody actually truly win without hurt the others? I'm
41:31
still I'm with you, though, I'm taking MJF to retain because I think
41:34
the money matches to headline pay per views are still with MJF as opposed to
41:38
Darby, Jungle Boy and Sammy. So I'll take m JF because MJF Adam
41:44
Cole looks like a money match. You get to MJF, Kenny Omega.
41:46
These are all big time money matches. I don't think you can say the
41:51
same if you take mjf's name out of that and put into one of the
41:53
other three. So I will take MJF to retain as well, plus the
41:58
ability for him to come back on Dynamite the fall week and glows about how
42:00
he's the greatest of all the pillars that he is. Uh oh, what
42:05
are the He's the structural integrity beam of aw going forward. So there you
42:10
go, Like you take that one beam out, the whole high stalls down.
42:13
That's what I'm going with. We will recap or review Night of Champions,
42:16
NXT Battleground, AWW or nothing All on next week's edition to show on
42:21
June first for Everybody episode number six hundred ninety four before we close up shop.
42:27
I would be remiss Doctor Trey if I did not give our weekly Cmpunk
42:30
AW relationship update. UM. I feel like we should have some sort of
42:34
music underneath it, like that, like something like that, like old school
42:38
news bulletins. UM. So, the latest is that cmpunk has been in
42:43
contact with AW officials, that he is still planning to show up at AW
42:47
Collision, that all is well, and that the situation last week was reportedly
42:53
overblown. It was announced on Wednesday's Dynamite that AW Collision will be taking place
42:58
at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois for its debut episode. I don't
43:00
think that they make that move for June the seventeenth if cmpunk is not in
43:05
the fold. And then it was also lastly reported this morning Thursday morning,
43:08
according to Dave Meltzer for The Wrestling Observer, a seal has been resigned by
43:13
AW, but he will be working from home as part of the deal.
43:17
The report further state that stealing AW management came to agreement a few weeks ago.
43:22
So it seems all is well in the cmpunk AW world. And now
43:25
once double or nothing is in the rearview mirror, Doctor Trey, we will
43:29
be full steam ahead as to how they integrate one cmpunk back in the fold.
43:34
In all Elite Wrestling. Maybe they make some sort of announcement during double
43:37
or nothing. We've talked about some polarizing things main event matches like the Four
43:42
Pillars match. What could be more polarizing than the creative for cmpunk moving forward
43:46
and the reaction that he may be getting from fans. So that is the
43:50
weekly update, Doctor Trey. It appears that all is well in the world
43:53
of cmpunk in aw right now, I'm Sill's not a person Facebook official job.
44:00
I still says it's complicated, so true, that is true. And
44:04
then I'm also trying to figure out how I can get one of those cool
44:06
like aid W jobs where I work from home, he doesn't have to go
44:09
anywhere, Like that be fantastic. So uh, Kudo's day still forget a
44:14
job where he does have to leave his house, Like I love those jobs.
44:17
But yeah, to me, it's not gonna things like when Punk shows
44:22
up, all will be cut saying all will be forgiven. But then at
44:24
that point it's kind of like, all right, how can we out make
44:27
some money because that's the thing we've been harping on since this whole thing happened
44:31
what nine months ago, that at the end of the day if you can
44:36
just put aside your ego and your petty bullcrap see him punk versus Kenny Omega
44:40
is going to get a lot of pay per view buys when that match eventually
44:45
happened. So I guess now money does you know? Money does make happiness?
44:50
So yeah, yep, money does make happiness and controversy creates cash and
44:55
if all is well, the only people that really benefit from this is the
44:59
rest fans. So we'll see how it plays out creatively on television with an
45:02
eventual ceampunk aw return. Hopefully creatively business can be a right and that these
45:08
folks can work together because it would be the best four all elite wrestling and
45:13
a lot of eyes on the product and be very very good for the company
45:15
overall. And we'll keep an eye on that as things move forward here heading
45:21
into the month of June. So with that said, let's get a couple
