- 0:00Chapter 12 from Hosea. Dear God, please be with us as
- 0:04we read through this chapter and give us wisdom and insight in
- 0:08Jesus name, Amen. Ephraim feeds on the wind.
- 0:13He pursues the east wind all day and multiplies lies and
- 0:18violence. When I read through this I
- 0:22thought about Ephraim feeds on the wind.
- 0:24Now the Study Bible has commentary on it, and it does
- 0:29makes sense what the study Bible says, but I also wonder
- 0:33sometimes when we read these things, if we have the
- 0:36translations right, because Ephraim feeds on the wind.
- 0:41The wind in Hebrew is Rua, which can mean air, and it can also
- 0:45mean the Spirit. So a lot of these things are
- 0:50metaphors like Ephraim feeds on the wind or Ephraim feeds on the
- 0:55Spirit. And I don't, you know, it's not
- 0:58God's Spirit because this is like idolatry that Ephraim's got
- 1:03become wrapped up in. And I also think it's
- 1:07interesting and it's speculation to bring this up, but if you
- 1:15take a, you know, you trace Ephraim back where Ephraim came
- 1:20from. Now Ephraim is a tribe of
- 1:22people, but if you trace it, trace it back to the beginning.
- 1:27We go all the way back to Joseph, who was a son, one of
- 1:33the 12 tribes. And then Joseph had two sons,
- 1:38Ephraim and Manasseh, Joseph's wife, the mother of the two
- 1:43sons, was the daughter of Potiphar of the city of On.
- 1:52The city of On is also called Heliopolis and it is in Egypt.
- 1:59And Joseph had he was at that time, he was like second in
- 2:09command to the Pharaoh and he ended up saving his the rest of
- 2:15the family in a famine. I mean, it goes into a long
- 2:20story, but if we trace it back to Joseph, he was one of the
- 2:26original 12 sons that created the tribes.
- 2:32Now on his father's deathbed, he then gave so Jacob, who was
- 2:39changed his God changed his name to Israel.
- 2:43So on Jacob or Israel's deathbed, he gave the
- 2:48inheritance of Joseph to his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh.
- 2:54And so they kind of took the place of Joseph for some reason,
- 2:58and I don't really understand why.
- 3:01I probably will have to read that again to find out why.
- 3:04But Ephraim in the in this part of Hosea is really the one.
- 3:12I mean, it just, it says Ephraim so often.
- 3:14I mean, there's a lot of like, I don't know if anger's not the
- 3:19right word, but a lot of disappointment maybe in what
- 3:23Ephraim does. And it says Ephraim feeds on the
- 3:25wind. He pursues the east wind all day
- 3:27and multiplies lies and violence.
- 3:32He made makes a treaty with Assyria and sends olive oil to
- 3:39Egypt. Now, is this a spiritual thing?
- 3:42Is it more of a spiritual implication or I think it also
- 3:48has has a basis in reality as well.
- 3:51So it's he sends olive oil to Egypt.
- 3:54Well, it's kind of interesting because his mother was from
- 3:57Egypt. So you could see how the tribe,
- 4:00you know, like there would be that familiality, that familial
- 4:04status, I guess with some of the people of Egypt, there's there's
- 4:08ancestry there. There's a connection there to
- 4:10the people of Ephraim it as there is to the people of
- 4:13Manasseh, because they were brothers and they were born from
- 4:16an Egyptian mother and the the her father who was the priest of
- 4:23on it wasn't a God fearing priest.
- 4:26He worshipped so I think Asura astronaut.
- 4:33I forgot I forgot her name now Anyway, the mom, she her father,
- 4:39who was the priest of an or Heliopolis.
- 4:41They they worshipped the sun God RA and he was supposedly the
- 4:47creator. So it's like a demonic entity is
- 4:51what I, what I draw from other parts of the Bible that all of
- 4:57these like false gods are actually, you know, other
- 5:02entities that are claiming to be God and deceiving people.
- 5:06So they are teamed up in my mind with Satan.
- 5:09Maybe they are Satan who Satan can take on.
- 5:13You know, Satan can appear as an Angel of light as something
- 5:17good, but he's really darkness and he wanted to be worshipped.
- 5:21So when God allowed him authority to some degree over
- 5:25the earth for a period of time, it seems like he really took
- 5:29advantage of that and is making people worship him like Baal and
- 5:34all of these other things. In fact, what they worshipped in
- 5:39in I guess what they worshipped in Assyria was Asher, Ishtar,
- 5:45Inanna, Marduk. These are all different gods
- 5:48that they worshipped. And I just speculate and wonder
- 5:53if the Book of Enoch is true. And these watchers who were
- 5:58supposed to look over mankind, but then decided to do their own
- 6:03thing rather than listen to God. And they taught humans different
- 6:09things they were supposed to do. Their fallen angels, they're
- 6:11being punished for that, you know, did they, did they teach
- 6:15angels that they were gods? You know, I mean, did they teach
- 6:18people that they were gods? Did these angels, these fallen
- 6:22angels? Again, that's just speculation,
- 6:25but there was some some interaction with heavenly angels
- 6:31that were disobedient to God and human beings.
- 6:34And we can go back to Genesis. I think it's chapter 6 where it
- 6:37talks about them actually having relations, like sexual relations
- 6:42and their offspring were called Nephilim.
- 6:44And those were the giants of the old of the old days, like one
- 6:47that talks about David fighting the giant Goliath.
- 6:51I mean, these were people that were I think like 13 feet tall
- 6:56like that and they had like there was some deformities about
- 7:00him, like they had multiple more fingers or this one, that
- 7:03Goliath that he was in a battle with had more fingers than
- 7:08normal or something. I think that was noted in the
- 7:11Bible. But anyway, these were like
- 7:13literal things that happened. It wasn't just a story.
- 7:16This was actually an anomaly because they weren't really
- 7:21fully human. They were part angelic being.
- 7:24And the Bible does say that it's not just a made-up story.
- 7:28It's it's found in Genesis 6. So I wonder if you know, the
- 7:34spiritual realm, we just don't fully understand and it's
- 7:37invisible. We don't see these things taking
- 7:40place. But however, angels can also
- 7:42appear. So there's like spirits and then
- 7:46there's angels who can appear like human beings.
- 7:49They aren't like what we see depicted.
- 7:53Angels are mostly when I see them in the Bible, they are
- 7:57meant they are male. They are not female and they
- 8:00don't have wings necessarily, I guess unless you're talking
- 8:03about cherubim. I think those are a type of
- 8:05Angel that have wings. But often it talks about these
- 8:10people. I mean, they just look like
- 8:12people and, and, and I think it's the book of Hebrews, but
- 8:16I'm not sure where it says to essentially be kind to strangers
- 8:21or show hospitality to strangers.
- 8:23Because in doing so, you may have actually entertained an
- 8:27Angel and didn't even know that you did.
- 8:29So angels can appear like human beings and of course, the way
- 8:35they're drawn or illustrated, it always shows them like we'd
- 8:39really know what an Angel was because it had wings and it was
- 8:42all, you know, it looked like a female and it was in this like
- 8:45Romanesque looking, you know, dress thing.
- 8:48That's not what the Bible describes at all.
- 8:51And and so anyway, there's there's a lot of mystery that is
- 8:58about the spiritual realm. But the weird thing that I see
- 9:02is that these certain land areas do seem to be controlled to some
- 9:08degree by spiritual entities. And when the Bible says we
- 9:12wrestle not, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but
- 9:16against the principalities of the spiritual realms and the
- 9:21darkness. And I don't know, I need to
- 9:23memorize that verse, but essentially it, it sounds like
- 9:27there's certain principalities are divided up lands that are
- 9:31governed by different authorities.
- 9:34Even Daniel in his, one of his one of the chapters of the book
- 9:40of Daniel, he said that this Angel comes to, I think it's the
- 9:43Angel Michael comes to him and says word was sent to you right
- 9:48away. But I was held up by Persia and
- 9:53that nobody is fighting for Israel essentially except for
- 9:57Michael. Michael is their Angel, is their
- 10:01Archangel. I don't know their Angel who
- 10:03supports them, but he's like in the spiritual realm battle with
- 10:07these other entities. And Persia was named.
- 10:10And so Persia is modern day Iran.
- 10:13And we think about Israel and Iran relations, you know, and
- 10:17it's Michael and the the spiritual entity over Persia.
- 10:23So it seems like there are these like God gives authority, he is
- 10:28very orderly. It seems like he does have some
- 10:32spiritual principalities that are in control over certain
- 10:38areas for a period of time. And, and God appoints leaders
- 10:42and he takes them away and sometimes he uses them for
- 10:47discipline on his children, to discipline the those he loves so
- 10:52that they turn in repentance and they don't stray from him.
- 10:55However, he doesn't force them to do that because everybody
- 10:59still has free will and can choose what they ever whatever
- 11:03they want to choose. So God, and that's what you
- 11:07would have to do with love. You can't force somebody to love
- 11:10you. So God can't force us to love
- 11:12him. It has to be our own choice to
- 11:14do that. So here's what the study Bible
- 11:17says about. How did Ephraim feed on the
- 11:19wind? Hosea was using imagery to point
- 11:22to illusion, emptiness, or something without a purpose.
- 11:26The. The reference to east wind has
- 11:28two meanings #1A desert wind of very little value, and two, an
- 11:33allusion to Israel's desire to petition Assyria rather than God
- 11:38for help. Instead of feeding on her
- 11:40covenant with the Lord, Israel turned away and fed on a
- 11:44covenant with the Syria and Egypt, a decision that was
- 11:49doomed to fail and would lead to punishment, especially because
- 11:55they were worshipping other entities, not gods.
- 12:01OK, the Lord has a charge to bring against Judah.
- 12:05So now they're talking about the tribe of Judah.
- 12:07He will punish Jacob. Now Jacob is really like both of
- 12:11the tribes according to his. When I say both of the tribes I
- 12:15mean both of the kingdoms North and South Kingdom according to
- 12:18his ways and repay him according to his deeds.
- 12:22In the womb he grasped his brother's heel.
- 12:26Now this is actually referring to Jacob.
- 12:29So in the womb he grasped his brother's heel.
- 12:31That was Esau and as a man he struggled with God, He struggled
- 12:37with the Angel and overcame him. So that was on this.
- 12:43He did have a that's when his name was changed to Israel.
- 12:49Jacob met some and I guess messenger of God and wrestled
- 12:56with him and he, his like hip was injured as a result of that.
- 13:04But he wouldn't let go until he was blessed and then his name
- 13:10became Israel at that point. That's when his name became
- 13:13Israel. And I didn't look up to see
- 13:16where there was. That has to be in Genesis.
- 13:19So and then it says he wept and begged for his favor.
- 13:23That's what I was just talking about.
- 13:24He found him at Bethel and talked with him there.
- 13:29The Lord God Almighty, the Lord is his name.
- 13:33So I wondered, when did Jacob, you know, meet God there?
- 13:37And so that's also where that Angel comes into play.
- 13:41Like, is it an Angel? Is it actually Jesus?
- 13:46I don't, I don't know because sometimes Jesus is referred to
- 13:50as the Angel of God, but he's not the Angel.
- 13:54I don't know. It's just like the the
- 13:56messenger. I guess the way it that has to
- 13:58do with the translations. The messenger, messenger of God.
- 14:02So anyway, in Genesis chapter 28, verses 10 through 22, Jacob
- 14:09has a dream of a stairway and God reaffirms his covenant with
- 14:14Israel at that point. So that's where it talks about
- 14:18he found him at Bethel. That's where it happened.
- 14:20That's where he had that dream. He set his head down on a rock
- 14:23and then had the stream and saw angels ascending and descending
- 14:26on the stairway that was going into heaven.
- 14:30So then going back to Scripture. But you must return to your God,
- 14:35maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always.
- 14:42So scripture often tells us to wait for God.
- 14:47And we as human beings tend to be impatient and we want what we
- 14:53want as soon as we can get it. We are not patient.
- 14:57We want it now, even as as little kids we're really bad.
- 15:00And I guess over time we, we get a little bit more patient.
- 15:04But that's a really hard thing to wait on God, especially when
- 15:07you feel like you've been waiting a long time and it's not
- 15:11happening. But the Bible does tell us to
- 15:15wait on God, and it also gives us examples of bad things that
- 15:20happen when we don't wait on God.
- 15:23One of those things was Sarah, who God told her the Angel, and
- 15:29it might have been even Jesus actually, who was there because
- 15:34it was the Lord and two angels that were present before that
- 15:37came to visit to look at Sodom and Gomorrah and see if it was
- 15:40as bad as it was. And during that time, Abraham
- 15:45and Sarai were there and he shared with her that within a
- 15:50year's time, I think it was within a year's time.
- 15:56Now I'm getting a little bit confused on the details, but he
- 16:02had at one time told them they were going to have a child.
- 16:07And I think Sarah might have been like 90 or eventually when
- 16:13she did have a child and she didn't believe him.
- 16:16And because it had taken so long, she had offered her, her
- 16:23assistant Hagar to and, and thought, OK, God's taken a long
- 16:28time. Maybe it wasn't meant.
- 16:29Maybe Abraham, you know, he's supposed to have these
- 16:32descendants as numerous as the stars.
- 16:35Then perhaps maybe I need to have a substitute to, you know,
- 16:40get the babies coming. And, you know, that's just
- 16:44really strange that she would think that.
- 16:46And maybe there was some spiritual influence there, too,
- 16:50where she wasn't going to wait on God.
- 16:52And so then she offered her servant Hagar, who slept with
- 16:57Abraham and had a child. And that child was Ishmael.
- 17:01And actually, that is what has been causing all of this turmoil
- 17:05in the Middle East because there is a, you know, there is a
- 17:11struggle with Ishmael being quote, the first born, but that
- 17:15wasn't God's intention. That was human beings taking
- 17:20things into their own hands. And it does in the Bible.
- 17:23It clears it up later because the blessing was given to
- 17:27Abraham's descendants. And then if you search in the
- 17:30Bible, it specifically says that it was given to Isaac and not to
- 17:38Ishmael. However, Ishmael was going to be
- 17:41made a mighty warrior, but he was going to live in hostility
- 17:46to his brother all the time. So there there is that that
- 17:53hostility that continues between Ishmael and Isaac and the
- 17:59descendants of them. So I mean this, if you want to
- 18:05know everything about what's going on in the Middle East,
- 18:07just study the Old Testament and you'll see why.
- 18:11And this is perpetuated forever. It really has.
- 18:15Since this is never ended, we will not have peace in the
- 18:19Middle East until Jesus returns. There's going to be a fake
- 18:23peace, but it's just not because the Bible prophecies that there
- 18:26is going to be a fake peace. People will think they are is
- 18:31safe in safety and security and then will come sudden
- 18:37destruction. So that's what Bible prophecy
- 18:40tells us and people will think that it's going to happen.
- 18:44But again, let's get back to waiting on God because that
- 18:47applies to us today, that we should wait on God.
- 18:51Wait for your God always. And in fact, if somebody has
- 18:54done wrong to you, God says the vengeance is mine.
- 18:59We don't need to provide vengeance on anybody else.
- 19:03We don't need to do that. That is just wait on God, pray
- 19:07about it, wait on God. And if we don't, things don't go
- 19:12well typically. And look at the turmoil that
- 19:16it's caused in this world. Look at all the wars, all the
- 19:19conflicts that have been caused because of Ishmael and Isaac.
- 19:25That's all that's that's the rooted the root of all of what's
- 19:29happening in Israel can be traced back to that.
- 19:34There is that that conflict, the disagreement by there.
- 19:38But if the Word of God is studied, it's very clear where
- 19:44God said it was to Isaac, and then it was passed on from Isaac
- 19:51to his descendants. And it's Jacob.
- 19:55You know, Jacob received the blessing, and Jacob was named
- 20:01Israel. So it's Israel who received the
- 20:03blessing in accordance with the Bible that was written thousands
- 20:07of years ago. OK, so let's go back to the
- 20:12scripture. The merchant uses dishonest
- 20:15scales and loves to defraud. Ephraim boast.
- 20:18I am very rich. I have become wealthy with all
- 20:21my wealth. They will not find in me any
- 20:24inequity or sin. I have been I have been the Lord
- 20:29your God ever since you came out of Egypt.
- 20:33So this is talking about, you know, Ephraim, that you know,
- 20:37God has been when they came out of Egypt, they came out of
- 20:41slavery and he was the Lord their God at that point.
- 20:48I will make you live in tents again as in the days of your
- 20:53appointed festivals. So when I read that, I was
- 20:56thinking, I wonder if this is what he they're talking about.
- 20:59I mean, it could have a different meaning.
- 21:00But what about Sukkot like Earth Feast or the Festival of
- 21:04Tabernacles? That's when the Israelites, you
- 21:07know, camp out in tent structures or they have like
- 21:11different structures that they use to commemorate this time
- 21:16period when they were wandering around in the wilderness for 40
- 21:19days and nights. And God provided them before
- 21:23they reached the promised Land, and they were in that land for
- 21:2840 years because they kept disobeying God.
- 21:33So it was kind of like a testing period, a training period when
- 21:36God was trying to reach them, when he was trying to do
- 21:39something with them. And, and I think that's
- 21:42something else that we should remember is that when our
- 21:46delayed blessings happen, it's probably because we are not
- 21:50ready for them, that God needs to do more work within us.
- 21:55So when we are not getting what we want, then that means there's
- 21:59something else that has to happen before that occurs.
- 22:02Because God is a good God and he's a good giver and he wants
- 22:07to bless, He wants to give us things.
- 22:11But sometimes maybe we are not ready for those things.
- 22:14And God needs to do some work in us.
- 22:16The Holy Spirit needs to do some work in us, or the Holy Spirit
- 22:19needs to do some work elsewhere. And so that's why there is a
- 22:23delay. OK, going back to Scripture
- 22:27again, let's see. So we talked about I will make
- 22:31you live in tents again, as in the days of your appointed
- 22:34festivals, I spoke to the prophets, gave them many visions
- 22:39and told parables through them. So throughout this time, God,
- 22:45throughout all of the Bible, God uses visions and prophecy and
- 22:50dreams for in communicating with various people.
- 22:56And usually when this happens, there is a common message.
- 23:00And the common message is turn to God, turn away from sin, turn
- 23:05to God. You see that repeated over and
- 23:07over and there's usually warnings and then there's also
- 23:11encouragement of blessings that will current come if you do what
- 23:16God wants you to do, that there's a promise of goodness if
- 23:21you can turn to God, if you can repent.
- 23:26So is Gilead wicked? It's people are worthless.
- 23:29Do they sacrifice bulls and gilgal?
- 23:32Their altars will be like piles of stone on a plowed field.
- 23:37Jacob fled to the country of Arum.
- 23:40Aram is also a Syria. Like I'm not a Syria, it's a
- 23:45part of Syria. And Assyria is also a part of
- 23:50Syria or some part of Turkey too.
- 23:52It was a much larger land area back in the time.
- 23:56But Jacob fled to the country of Aram, which is modern day Syria.
- 24:01Israel served to get a wife and to pay for her.
- 24:06He tended sheep. So as the custom was, he did
- 24:11this for Rachel. He actually worked for 14 years.
- 24:16He worked seven years to get Rachel, his wife.
- 24:19But then her father slipped in the the older daughter.
- 24:25And then he had to work another seven years to get Rachel.
- 24:30So Leah was slipped in first and then Rachel.
- 24:32I mean, talk about family drama. That was, you know, again, that
- 24:37wasn't God's will because God pointed out that Rachel was
- 24:41supposed to be his wife. And I think it was Rachel.
- 24:49I'm getting, I get these stories about Rachel and Rebecca mixed
- 24:52up all the time. I don't know if it's because
- 24:54they're ours. And then also Isaac and Israel.
- 24:58I do get their stories mixed up and and I think maybe I can't
- 25:05remember who was the one that had the those watering was at
- 25:10the, you know, watering at the watering hole.
- 25:14I think it was Isaac sent for his son Jacob to have a wife.
- 25:18So I think it's Jacob and Rebecca and or Rachel.
- 25:23Sorry, Rachel, I did it again. So Jacob and Rachel.
- 25:26So I, I believe Rachel was the one at the watering hole and a
- 25:30servant went out and he asked God to identify the woman who
- 25:37should be Jacob's wife by having her offer his camel water in
- 25:43addition to him because she was at the well.
- 25:46And that's what happened. So that's how the servant knew
- 25:50that Rachel was the one that God intended.
- 25:53So again, human beings kind of messed this all up.
- 25:57But God works with the things that people do.
- 26:00So it was intended that Jacob and Rachel would be married.
- 26:05God didn't intend multiple wives.
- 26:08But what happened was the father of Rachel, if I were Rachel, I'd
- 26:13probably be upset with the father also.
- 26:15But the father threw in Leah because she was the older one
- 26:18and she wasn't married yet. So she needed by custom I guess,
- 26:21to get married first. So then he's and then the father
- 26:24says, well, you, you can work another seven years and then you
- 26:26can have Rachel. So he ended up with two wives
- 26:31and but God still and poor Leah, she was just really unloved.
- 26:36Jacob really didn't love Leah. It it's really terrible in the
- 26:41Bible. You see it throughout, like when
- 26:43they're going out where somebody might be attacked, even he puts
- 26:46Leah before Rachel. Like if something happened to
- 26:50the first person in the front, it wouldn't happen.
- 26:52Like he was protecting Rachel. I mean, it's just, you see these
- 26:55little things and and Leah was very distraught about, you know,
- 26:59not being loved and but God yet he blessed her with many
- 27:05children, a lot of the tribes and one of the tribes of Leah's
- 27:10was Judah. And that's the tribe that Jesus
- 27:14eventually came from. So you can, he took God is so
- 27:18merciful and loving that he took the wife that Jacob had that he
- 27:23didn't even choose and God didn't even choose, but God
- 27:28heard her and he responded to her and he made her offspring
- 27:33significant. So that's why, you know, we just
- 27:37look at, I mean, I think it was because Aaliyah's, you know, he,
- 27:40he has empathy. God has empathy for people.
- 27:43He sees people when they're in hurting places and he does
- 27:46respond to that. But again, we just have to wait
- 27:49on God's time when things are happening like that, because God
- 27:53did bless Leah. Let's see, let's go back to.
- 28:00So anyway, Israel served to get a wife and he had to pay for and
- 28:03to pay for her. He tended sheep for Laban.
- 28:07The Lord used a prophet to bring Israel up from Egypt.
- 28:12So he used Moses to bring Israel up from Egypt by a prophet.
- 28:19He cared for them. So God uses people who are
- 28:21willing, who are willing to submit to him, willing to obey
- 28:26God. God will use a person like that,
- 28:30and that's what he did with Moses.
- 28:31So he took a person. Now, Moses wasn't perfect
- 28:34because when Moses was in Egypt, he had an anger issue and he saw
- 28:38an Egyptian mistreating an Israelite and ended up killing
- 28:43the Egyptian. And then he fled because he knew
- 28:47what he had done. And but yet he is like one of
- 28:51the most famous people in the Bible.
- 28:53So we see that God uses regular people.
- 28:57Every person who is significant in the Bible had some really you
- 29:02God exposes or the Bible exposes their sinfulness.
- 29:06And yet he still uses these people.
- 29:09And Moses also said he couldn't talk very well.
- 29:12And God was like, well, I'll send Aaron with you and Aaron
- 29:15can talk for you. And then even with Jesus, he,
- 29:20his disciples, he said, don't worry about what you're going to
- 29:22say because the Holy Spirit will will give you the words to use.
- 29:27So God, this is an example, I think of grace, where the power
- 29:33of God in our weakness then comes forth when we are
- 29:39submitted to God, Like it's not by our power, but by God's
- 29:43power. When we are submitted, when we
- 29:46are obedient to Christ, when we are obedient to God, then he can
- 29:49use us. And then if we have weaknesses,
- 29:54his the Holy Spirit can provide in that sense in our weakness.
- 30:01So but Ephraim has aroused his bitter anger.
- 30:05His Lord will leave him on the guilt of his bloodshed and will
- 30:09repay him for his contempt. And that's the end of chapter
- 30:1512. And so I will just read.
- 30:18Let's see. I think why, OK, Why did Hosea
- 30:21use Jacob as an example? Jacob, later called Israel, was
- 30:26known for his deceit. He was the father of the 12
- 30:30tribes of Israel. Like their ancestor, the people
- 30:34of Hosea's day were deceitful, but Hosea wanted them to follow
- 30:38Jacob's example further. Jacob had searched for God and
- 30:42allowed God to transform him. So the transformation actually
- 30:47comes from the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, that who
- 30:51transforms. He had cleansed himself and his
- 30:54household of idol worship and had received God's blessings.
- 31:00So see, when we submit to God and God wants to bless us, but
- 31:06he's not going to bless us when we are in the middle of sin.
- 31:10He's, you know, he that's he doesn't want to encourage that.
- 31:14Now Satan, on the other hand, if we're sinning, he can make life
- 31:19kind of fun for a while, but it eventually leads to destruction
- 31:23because he's deceitful. He's going to make you think
- 31:26like you're getting all this stuff, but it'll all get taken
- 31:28away at some point. It will.
- 31:31So it never pays off. If it takes till Judgement Day,
- 31:37it won't be pretty because that's going to be an internal
- 31:39consequence rather than a loss here and now on the earth.
- 31:44So it's much better to receive a loss here on earth than to be
- 31:50eternally separated from God. So the time right now is, well,
- 31:54we have the opportunity is to turn to God.
- 31:57I mean, this is what God wants. He's what he's wanted throughout
- 32:00history. And with that does come
- 32:03blessings. So to read about Jacob, seven
- 32:06years of service to Laban as payment for his wife, Rachel C
- 32:10Genesis 29 versus 14 through 30. I think I explained a lot of
- 32:14that already, if I didn't confuse everybody.
- 32:17So how did Ephraim make God so angry?
- 32:20Ephraim indulged in the same idolatry as other tribes.
- 32:25So I'm going to end chapter 12 there.
- 32:27We only have two more chapters. I'd really like to finish this
- 32:30chapter and move on to the next prophet, but two more to go.
- 32:34So I hope you maybe follow this podcast.
- 32:37And I try to stay in the word every day and try not to make
- 32:43these two very long. Sometimes they do get long
- 32:45though. So come back the next time for
- 32:47Chapter 13.
