super bike, all that fun stuff, because it's one of the things

that I we haven't really talked about as much as I would like.

Just the preparation and stuff like that.

You know, it's a lot to it. You hear Bobby Shakes, Who

hasn't been been on a bike in four years is is, you know,

unheard of and he gonna have to change that.

So we have to get him some tires, get him some pearly tires

or something, you know. So let's talk.

We'll start with TJ on this because Shakes is not at the

track. Like, you know, what's the

preparation like for you? You know, we got Loudon in a

couple of weeks, the first weekend in, in May essentially.

You know, you've been at this town for a little bit, man.

So like, you know, you must have a routine by now of of what you

know, but what you need to get done.

And let's just talk about that, that actually what you get done

because sometimes we have a lot of things that we need to get

done, but that that schedule don't allow it.

So you know, you've been at this for a little while.

So what's your game plan when you go into the track, TJ?

Well, you know, first I'll just make sure my my bike's running.

All the wires, you know, and bolts are all attacked and I

kind of wait to the last minute to do the oil change.

So that's like the one of the things I got to do still.

But other than that from from when the rounds end last year, I

usually keep everything in basically a corner in in my

basement. So once I pull that out, I just

make sure, you know, I got everything that I can think of,

you know, power strips, extension cords, typically you

can't have enough of anything. There's always someone that can

possibly help you if you need something.

But try to check my toolbox, make sure I got enough tools and

stuff like that, and just, you know, make sure we got these

stands and all that good stuff. But yeah, just getting

everything in order, knowing your orders or operation, what

you need as the day goes on, you know, so get your coolers and

all that good stuff ready and, and stuff like that.

So that's kind of like my basic preparation.

Yeah, I mean, you know, everyone's a little bit

different and, you know, there's people that, you know, they wait

till day one and they start stripping down everything and

doing everything they need to do.

I'm kind of in the middle because I don't really wrench on

my bike that much. So I try to get like the bike

stuff, bike maintenance stuff done that I'm not going to do.

I try to get it done sooner than later just because I know

towards the beginning of the season there's a lot of people

that wait to get their bike done.

So you know, it, it, it, you just get, you can get shuffled

to be like, oh, your bike might be ready the weekend or the week

of the race weekend. And I don't, and I've done that

a couple of times and I don't like that because it's like, I

have to get my bike back and, and know what I'm doing and, and

go over and, and go over it and stuff like that.

So for me, I, I, I, I, I'm kind of in the middle, middle of the

pack like when it comes to that. As far as getting the getting,

getting maintenance done, but then there's also your gear, you

gear. Make sure your gear is good

before you know, go through your gloves, make sure you got like

your gloves are going to make it through another season or at the

Because you can have gloves for 3-4 years.

Never go down, never anything. But they still wear out because

you're just putting them on every day or if you or not every

day, but every race weekend. And if you're, and especially if

I've found that I've had gloves tear in the past just from just

just wear and tear, you know what I'm saying?

So it's good to go through your equipment to see what that's

about and just make sure you're good there.

You know, go through your, go through your trailer, whatever

trailer you're using to, to tow the bike, you know what I'm

You got to go through the vehicle, make sure the vehicle

The funny thing is that my trailer is the open trailer, so

one of the wires came loose so I actually had to rewire the not

rewire the whole trailer, but I actually had to do some

maintenance on it because I wasn't able to use it because it

wasn't producing any light. So I got that out of the way.

One big bike maintenance is that I did last year was the the

forts in the rear shock. So that I completed last year.

I didn't ride as much last year, so it's still in good shape.

So I went through sewer bike services, Tim, so that that was

done. So I didn't really have to tear

down the bike ranch or anything major.

So that part is good to go. Yeah, no, you know, trailer

tires, brakes, if you got brakes on a trailer, if you got any

type of custom work done, check that stuff to make sure that's

If you have subscriptions to transponders or if you got, you

know, if you're with, with some of these club racers, club

racer, club race, race and racing organization, you need to

be a member of a AMA. So make sure your AMA

subscription is up. Because, you know, even though

the tech is a lot better to me, you have to track the, these

days as far as like everything is more electronic than paper,

want to be dealing with trying to, you know, renew a

bike in, because for me, like I'm on a small bike and this and

the classes are getting smaller and fewer.

So it's not like, you know, Once Upon a time I had a lot more

classes I could throw my bike in than I do today.

So it's always good to make sure you look at the rule book before

you, you know, at this point it's the racing season.

So you already have a bike, but you don't want to have a bike

and then, you know, it's, it only qualifies for like one or

two classes or whatever the case may, because you might want to

be going doing, you know, four or five races a weekend versus

just two races a weekend and stuff like that, or racing upper

class. And you know, your bike is not

at the level of some of these other bikes, but you at least

you still get to race. I mean, you know, if you're

really fast, that's not a that's not a big deal.

But if you're, if you're a middle of the pack kind of rider

and you're on a less horsepower bike, you're going to notice

So I think those are some of the things to, to be ready for.

And from that date you got, you got up to four or five years to

bought older helmets not realizing they were older.

I bought a helmet on a deal, was a deal because of the leftover.

So it's kind of like, you know, sometimes you see deals out

offer warranty on canopies. So you might want to look at a
