Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Duval, daily, presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by Brass Tax Coffee.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Delugo.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: It is Thursday, July 9th, and your Jacksonville Jaguars had the worst off season of all time.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: According to Matt O'Cotta of NFL.com, he didn't actually say the worst off season of all time, but he did give them a straight-up F for their off season grade.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: And F, and now Matt O'Cotta, he does NFL and fantasy content.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: NFL.com.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: We referenced this yesterday.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think I accidentally said it was CBS, but, you know,
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: mistakes happen.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about exactly why Maddo covers NFL and fantasy.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: For NFL.com, gave the Jaguars an F here.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.

- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: D you you you you VAL.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: Jimjag.com.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: You can get a hat like the one I'm wearing right now, bunch of other good hats up on the site.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: So Jaguars and F stand out moves, allowing running back to have a CT and line back or down.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: And Lloyd hit for agency.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I will give O'Connor some credit.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: At least he did not put Greg News some in that bit, because I've seen that.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen people saying, oh, losing Greg News on this is
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Who's replacing Greg Newsom in the starting lineup?
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so good for Matt O'Cotta for not putting Greg Newsom up there.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I'm sorry to Greg Newsom, like it just wasn't a good fit here.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's that bad of a player.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: And anybody, when you're comping him to Travis Hunter unless he's like one of these top-flight corners in the league, yeah, it's just not a good comp.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Other standout moves extending defensive end tray while Walker tied in Britain's strange, resigning corner-backed Monterey.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Brown, Matt O'Cotta writes,
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: no offense to James Ladsdon and company, but this offseason hasn't been great.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's lost multiple key starters in for agency and added very little to compensate.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so if you had your head under a rock or whatever, you've been not paying attention, the Jaguar's let Travisetean go.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Travisetean, while not being an efficient running back, was a very good receiving back out of the backfield and a very good back in past protection last year.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was his best season in both of those regards.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Do I think that there might be some correlation or even causation of Travis ETN executing at a higher level in past pro and in the receiving game with a new coaching staff being there, b being in a contract year?
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, absolutely do.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I was an advocate for keeping Travis E.T.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: and in a reasonable deal, but he actually got more on the open market than I expected.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so who is replacing Travis E.T.M?
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, let's not say they did very little to replace these starters and for agency, not even reference the fact that the Jack Wars did go out and sign a running back.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Running back who is one of the most efficient in terms of success rate, who breaks tackles, who picks up first downs in your friendly high rate, who, when running the ball last year with the Washington Commanders, faced some of the heaviest boxes in the NFL and still had that extremely high success rate.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Rodriguez.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: who, by the way, played four Liam Cohen at Kentucky.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like, let's not pretend the Jack Wars didn't add a more efficient runner who maybe fits what they're looking to do on offense a little bit better this year, who actually breaks tackles, brings physicality and let's not pretend.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't draft basal tootin and Lee Quint Allen last year knowing that Travis E.T.N.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: was probably gonna be gone after a contract year.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like saying they lost multiple keys, chart is in for agency and out of very little comes again.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, the Jack Wars brought in at linebacker or a Devon, again, they knew Devon Lloyd was in a contract year.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: They brought in multiple linebackers via the draft and undrafted for agency last year.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: They have foie Luke and like he's your starting middle linebacker and
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: They got to watch Vintrell Miller all last off season and Vintrell Miller was in a competition with Devon Lloyd even into week one of the 2026 regular season.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Vintrell Miller, when Devon Lloyd got hurt last year, played very, very well.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: There is no reason to believe that the Jack Wars felt that linebacker was a need even when Devon Lloyd departed.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: If they felt it was a need, they would do something about it.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a need.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: Venture on Miller is a good player.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: Who is, by the way, going into a contract season?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: That usually leads to an up-tick in production, that usually leads to career years.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: So, I feel strongly that the allowing to key starters in for agency to leave and adding very little compensate is a miscalculation by someone who just does not know the roster all that well.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Their biggest moves, excuse me, were pure maintenance, extending former number one pick, drive on walker after a three and a half sex season.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: Reupping strange, you put up 46 catches, 540 receiving yards and three touchdowns and 12 games and 25 and resigning round.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, obviously extending former number one pick, drive on walker, and then, italicizing after a three and a half sex season,
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: You're throwing shade out tray of home walker who battled through a broken hand and a knee injury last year to actually get out on the field and play and help his team be the number one run defense and football and be a top 10 defense in the NFL by the end of the year.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, yeah, that's the guy you're talking about only a three and a half sex season.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: When he was healthy in 2024, what did he do?
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: double digit sack when he was healthy in 2023 what did he do double digit sacks like sorry about that this is crap it's not good it this is not good analysis it lacks any sort of context
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: Then came the draft.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville's class took home Genaro Felicia.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know who that is.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Second lowest overall grade and was frequently criticized for drastic reaches in a failure to address primary needs like linebacker until the latter rounds.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't feel linebacker was a need.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly, do you think that James Gladstone and Liam Cohen maybe know the roster a little bit better than you do?
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: maybe?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: After the last few months, the Jaguars are under serious pressure when it comes to their division title defense with other ASC South teams making strides this offseason.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, who exactly outside of the Texan's major strides?
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Who?
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm waiting.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: The titans, I mean, yeah, I think they got a little better, but like, they're, they're, they're, I, I confidently can say they are not ready.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: I do not believe that they are ready.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: The colds didn't get better.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they had a decent draft, but they also didn't have a first round pick like the Jaguars.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see, we will see, I think the Jaguars are still the best team in the FC South.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to be better, not by record, but by the I test and by the ability to compete at the highest level in January and hopefully in the February, but certainly in January.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I just think that when you talk about losing multiple key starters and not talking about what you're compensating and look, it's not like they just lost multiple key starters.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: They basically traded them.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: In essence, it's the same thing.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: You traded Devon Lloyd for a projected fourth round pick.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Travis ETN for a projected fifth round pick.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: And oh, by the way, Greg Newson, who we didn't talk about here,
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: you're projected to get a six-round pickback for that.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: So like, it's not as if this team building strategy is completely insane and you're just losing these guys for nothing.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's three draft picks.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's three draft picks.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I believe strongly in Ventral Miller.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: I believe strongly in the Jaguar's plan at running back and with their run game this year.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: And to not mention the fact that Travis Hunter
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: To not mention the fact that Trayvon Walker was playing through injury, air calm stead, playing through injury, to not mention the fact that BTJ might be back in a big way, Parker Washington's breakout.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: It is what it is.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: I know you've only got two paragraphs here, but like the dig at Trayvon Walker for playing through a hand injury and a knee injury and only have three and a half sacks is just laughable in my opinion.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that's where I'm at with this one.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think, and let me know in the comment section below, if you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe, y'all have a good one.
