- 1:47Speaker 6: Let's freaking go. Jake, Matt, Jacob and Taytay here with you.
- 1:54Speaker 5: What a weekend it was. Boys left no doubt.
- 1:57Speaker 6: We'll break it all down, but LS thank you National
- 2:01Speaker 6: champions for.
- 2:02Speaker 5: The eighth time, two times in the last three years.
- 2:07Speaker 7: Feels pretty darn good. As a huge baseball fan, known
- 2:10Speaker 7: baseball fan, what an incredible weekend. Huh good lord? We
- 2:16Speaker 7: were locked in, Flynt family, locked in.
- 2:18Speaker 2: You see the.
- 2:19Speaker 7: Jersey, the new purchase, the new purchase, the whole team,
- 2:23Speaker 7: the whole team, Flynn rocking new.
- 2:26Speaker 2: LSU baseball jersey.
- 2:27Speaker 7: So excited? Are you kidding me? LSU fans. What a
- 2:31Speaker 7: spoiled bunch. We are wonderfully spoiled.
- 2:35Speaker 6: Yeah, and I love it we are, And gosh, it
- 2:38Speaker 6: was so good. It was so good to watch them
- 2:41Speaker 6: play the way they did in Omahall.
- 2:43Speaker 5: They leave no doubt.
- 2:44Speaker 6: They sweep Coastal Carolina and again we'll cover it. We
- 2:48Speaker 6: got as Taylor told you, Chris player Todd Walker dev
- 2:52Speaker 6: who was locked in as well. What a way it
- 2:57Speaker 6: played out. Yes, some electricity early in the game. And
- 3:04Speaker 6: again all of this is things that we will get to.
- 3:06Speaker 6: But just off the top, congratulations to Jay Johnson the
- 3:12Speaker 6: entire twenty twenty five LSU team. Jay is one of
- 3:16Speaker 6: our absolute favorites. He is a grinder. He is somebody
- 3:21Speaker 6: that leaves no stone unturned. He is going to make
- 3:24Speaker 6: sure every single thing is covered. What a run for him,
- 3:28Speaker 6: just personally as a head coach. You said it two
- 3:31Speaker 6: of the last three years, you are national champions. And
- 3:34Speaker 6: if you do that in today's college baseball with how
- 3:38Speaker 6: many programs truly care, how many programs have a desire
- 3:43Speaker 6: to be great? Right, It's no longer like the seventies
- 3:46Speaker 6: and eighties and when USC is winning championships because nobody
- 3:49Speaker 6: else really cares. This is the height of college baseball.
- 3:54Speaker 6: It's why you see all these stadiums getting bigger, It's
- 3:57Speaker 6: why you see all these games on TV and right
- 4:00Speaker 6: now and the hardest time, in my opinion, ever to
- 4:02Speaker 6: do it.
- 4:04Speaker 5: You are dominating college baseball. Went into it last.
- 4:06Speaker 7: Three Yeah, and the time of like just college sports
- 4:09Speaker 7: in general, and how hard it is to navigate the
- 4:13Speaker 7: nil world, the transfer world, just roster management, and the
- 4:18Speaker 7: way he's been able to do it, to come in
- 4:20Speaker 7: like this two of the last three years, we're sitting
- 4:23Speaker 7: on top and to start what everyone's talking about SEC
- 4:27Speaker 7: SEC SEC baseball, which is the greatest conference in college baseball.
- 4:31Speaker 7: To start the year out preseason one, and to finish
- 4:34Speaker 7: it out, prove all those people right, all those preseason
- 4:38Speaker 7: voters are prove them right, win the National cham It's
- 4:41Speaker 7: just a testament to what j. Johnson has done. But
- 4:46Speaker 7: the coach, he is the man, he is the leader
- 4:48Speaker 7: he is to do that, to manage that roster in
- 4:52Speaker 7: the off season, to bring in the pieces that you needed,
- 4:55Speaker 7: that you said after last year, hey, hey we're missing this.
- 4:58Speaker 7: Whether it's a whether it's a talent, whether it the mindset,
- 5:00Speaker 7: whatever it is for him to be able to all
- 5:05Speaker 7: the games that he played, all the buttons that he
- 5:08Speaker 7: pushed were right, and LSU fans, we are lucky to
- 5:13Speaker 7: have that man, the greatest coach in college baseball. And
- 5:17Speaker 7: if there's anybody out there that wants to argue that,
- 5:21Speaker 7: or deny that or think anything different, they're just dumb.
- 5:27Speaker 6: And we'll get to the situation yesterday with Coastal and
- 5:30Speaker 6: their coach getting kicked out of the game, and I'll
- 5:31Speaker 6: go around the room and I'll get everybody's thoughts on that.
- 5:34Speaker 6: But one of the things that I want to make
- 5:37Speaker 6: sure that we get done, and I think I can
- 5:38Speaker 6: speak for everybody here, is don't get it twisted. LSU
- 5:42Speaker 6: didn't win a national championship because Coastal's coach got kicked
- 5:45Speaker 6: out of the game. So you see a lot of
- 5:49Speaker 6: that on social media, right well, I mean the coach didn't. Okay,
- 5:54Speaker 6: LSU wins the national championship because LSU didn't have two
- 5:59Speaker 6: eras in yesterday's game. They didn't have an error in
- 6:02Speaker 6: the first game. You know who did. Coastal LSU won
- 6:05Speaker 6: a national championship because they know how to hit with
- 6:07Speaker 6: runners in scoring position. You know who doesn't. Coastal LSU
- 6:11Speaker 6: won because their starters went deep in the game and dominated.
- 6:14Speaker 5: You know who's did not.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Coastal LSU used three pitchers in the championship series. That's
- 6:22Speaker 6: why they won a national championship, not because the coach
- 6:25Speaker 6: came out and argued balls and.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Strikes and real quick.
- 6:30Speaker 6: I don't want to see anybody get tossed that quick.
- 6:33Speaker 6: But it happened, and it does, and we'll break it down.
- 6:36Speaker 6: We'll play the video, we'll play the audio, all of that.
- 6:39Speaker 6: It didn't matter if Joe Tory was out there coach
- 6:43Speaker 6: in Coastal Carolina. They weren't going to win this series.
- 6:48Speaker 6: LSU did everything you had to do. And for you
- 6:51Speaker 6: young guys, Joe Tory Yankees had some success. LSU did
- 6:56Speaker 6: everything they had to do to go win a national championship.
- 7:00Speaker 6: They came up with every timely hit. They came up
- 7:03Speaker 6: with every pitch that you had to make. They came
- 7:06Speaker 6: up with every play that you had to make in
- 7:10Speaker 6: the field. Again, a championship series against a team that
- 7:14Speaker 6: had not won or sorry, had not lost in twenty
- 7:17Speaker 6: six straight games, and you use three pitchers the entire
- 7:21Speaker 6: time LSU dominated.
- 7:25Speaker 5: The score line might not even tell the full story.
- 7:27Speaker 6: Every time that something had to happen, it happened because
- 7:31Speaker 6: LSU made it happen.
- 7:33Speaker 7: Yeah, the three pitchers to me is like such stunning.
- 7:38Speaker 7: It's not even stab it's just like a fact that
- 7:40Speaker 7: it like that was an incredible performance by those boys
- 7:44Speaker 7: to go out there and have such nasty stuff and
- 7:48Speaker 7: to shut down a team like you said, that had
- 7:49Speaker 7: won twenty six in a row, that had dominated their
- 7:52Speaker 7: half of the bracket leading.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Up to this championship series.
- 7:55Speaker 7: But what's to me what was so impressive about this
- 7:58Speaker 7: this team not only the townland and the pitching and
- 8:01Speaker 7: the defense, but the mindset, the competitiveness, the the grip
- 8:06Speaker 7: that everybody showed. Guys that had been struggling throughout this
- 8:13Speaker 7: College World Series. There's times that got struggled but showed
- 8:16Speaker 7: up when it mattered. You talk about earlier, you know,
- 8:20Speaker 7: Jerry Jones striking out five times versus Arkansas, then coming
- 8:23Speaker 7: up huge. We don't get to this point without him
- 8:26Speaker 7: coming up and we.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Have headphones employed. There my bad. Last night.
- 8:31Speaker 7: Dickinson singles and comes around, has a great sacrifice. But
- 8:35Speaker 7: Stanfield he gets a gets a single to the left field.
- 8:39Speaker 7: Uh braswell, who didn't hit great, but he played his
- 8:41Speaker 7: ass off at third base.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Oh my god, that guy.
- 8:44Speaker 6: Anybody he got to hit though, there we go. I
- 8:47Speaker 6: didn't want him to go over. He did get a hit.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Hell a sacrifice bunt too, he did.
- 8:51Speaker 6: He did what he had to do in certain moments,
- 8:54Speaker 6: and I'm just so glad he got a hit. So
- 8:56Speaker 6: he'll have that forever. He got a hit in the
- 8:58Speaker 6: College World Series, but I got the defense in general.
- 9:01Speaker 7: God lsu Olempics, left side of the infield, good luck
- 9:04Speaker 7: kitting it there. It was incredible. Yeah, those guys. And
- 9:07Speaker 7: then then of course you got been dominant all year.
- 9:11Speaker 7: Ethan Fry struggled this whole College World Series. Came up
- 9:14Speaker 7: huge yesterday he did. He ripped one. I mean, impossible
- 9:19Speaker 7: to judge that thing. One hundred and fourteen off the bat.
- 9:23Speaker 6: I know that was one hundred and fourteen off the bat.
- 9:25Speaker 6: In the home run Coastal it was ninety three off
- 9:27Speaker 6: the bat, was it really?
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:28Speaker 6: Just the I mean, credit to you. He got it
- 9:30Speaker 6: up in that win, a little back spin on it.
- 9:32Speaker 6: It just kept going and going and going. It's funny
- 9:34Speaker 6: like Curry, I thought he had like a beat on
- 9:36Speaker 6: the whole time. He's like, I've had a room that
- 9:40Speaker 6: I got to go make a play.
- 9:41Speaker 2: That wind was whipped in.
- 9:43Speaker 6: Yesterday again, like in the broadcast, hated like that's the
- 9:45Speaker 6: one place you could have hit the baseball where you
- 9:47Speaker 6: would probably got it out of the stadium and been
- 9:49Speaker 6: aided by the wind. Right all right, Jacob Tatee, I
- 9:53Speaker 6: know obviously LSU people behind the glass here as well.
- 9:57Speaker 5: You gotta have thoughts.
- 10:00Speaker 1: So we're watching the game yesterday, right, and everyone's, like
- 10:03Speaker 1: you mentioned, everyone's going to talk about, oh well, Kevin
- 10:05Speaker 1: Chanhal got thrown out of the game, whatever, Who cares.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I'm looking at early in the fourth inning, and you know,
- 10:10Speaker 1: Victoria's watching the game next to me, She's like, why
- 10:13Speaker 1: is the pitcher stopping the game. I'm like, well, his
- 10:15Speaker 1: headset's messed up. To me, that was the turning point
- 10:18Speaker 1: of the game. And you may look at say, okay, well,
- 10:20Speaker 1: he's used to getting the headset like the call in
- 10:22Speaker 1: his ear. Now he's looking at it written down on
- 10:25Speaker 1: the watch, like what's the big deal? To me, it
- 10:27Speaker 1: changes everything because you're used to having that voice in
- 10:30Speaker 1: your head.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Now you don't have it.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And I had wrote it down because I was like,
- 10:33Speaker 1: let me, let me watch the next four batters. After
- 10:37Speaker 1: he took the headset off, walk single to left center,
- 10:41Speaker 1: hit by pitch single to left center, he was pulled
- 10:44Speaker 1: and that was the four run inning that LSU gave up.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I mean to me, that was the turning point.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And again you could say, okay, well he should be
- 10:52Speaker 1: able to overcome that I understand that. But when you
- 10:54Speaker 1: hear a voice talking to you, walking you through what's
- 10:56Speaker 1: going on, and you don't have it anymore, and all
- 10:59Speaker 1: you hear is the crowd, like that changes everything. And
- 11:01Speaker 1: like to me, I'm telling Victoria, I'm like, he's stolen
- 11:04Speaker 1: because he doesn't know what to do, Like he's out
- 11:06Speaker 1: of his rhythm.
- 11:06Speaker 5: He can't believe it was he was off his mark
- 11:09Speaker 5: the entire game.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Well, the first inning he's calling out George got.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Into his head real quick about stealing.
- 11:16Speaker 6: You know, his signs out of his grip, out of
- 11:18Speaker 6: his glove, which is basically signs stealing, is completely.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Right in front of you.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Probably couldn't see the signs inside your glove, like calm down, Morrison.
- 11:28Speaker 1: But no, like to your point, he was he was
- 11:30Speaker 1: rattled to star. But when that happened right at the
- 11:32Speaker 1: beginning of the fourth inning, like that's when you kind
- 11:34Speaker 1: of knew, like okay, like if LSU can can hold
- 11:37Speaker 1: onto this thing, they got this in the bag. Because
- 11:39Speaker 1: that was the shortest outing of the year, that was
- 11:41Speaker 1: the most runs he had given up too. Like you
- 11:44Speaker 1: chased him out of that game early in the fourth inning.
- 11:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I'd like to get in a little bit to
- 11:48Speaker 7: the mindset of that at some point today of you know,
- 11:51Speaker 7: I agreed, I agree with the one hundred percent. To me,
- 11:55Speaker 7: his communications and device going down in the way he
- 11:58Speaker 7: handled that is a bigger deal than.
- 12:03Speaker 2: An equal of a big.
- 12:05Speaker 7: Deal like as a coach getting thrown out like yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 7: and at that point the head coach probably would have
- 12:10Speaker 7: really helped that situation like kind of calm it down
- 12:13Speaker 7: and cool it down like that. When you have a thrower,
- 12:17Speaker 7: it's all about it's about rhythm and getting into the zone.
- 12:19Speaker 7: It's just like a quarterback plane, like when you talk
- 12:22Speaker 7: about the zone, getting in that spot where all you
- 12:25Speaker 7: see is is is the defense. All you see is
- 12:27Speaker 7: this and that. Well the pictures, it's the same thing.
- 12:30Speaker 7: Like when you're getting a rhythm and feeling it, you
- 12:32Speaker 7: got to flow with that momentum. And that was a
- 12:34Speaker 7: momentum killer, an absolute momentum killer, having those communications go down.
- 12:38Speaker 7: And I couldn't think of anything worse if I'm a
- 12:40Speaker 7: starting pitcher in a national championship then having that happen.
- 12:45Speaker 7: But you could also tell that they hadn't worked on
- 12:47Speaker 7: what we're gonna do, what's the backup plan? Yeah, because
- 12:49Speaker 7: you're working on. Like you in football, you have the
- 12:52Speaker 7: you have the speaker and the quarterback and the Mike
- 12:54Speaker 7: linebacker's helmet. You work all the time on what happens
- 12:58Speaker 7: if that communication device goes down. We can't be one
- 13:00Speaker 7: hundred percent relying on it. We have to be able
- 13:02Speaker 7: to function without this, right, Yeah, you got to be
- 13:04Speaker 7: able to handle every situation. They promise you that.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Jay Johnson has every situation ready to go, but so
- 13:10Speaker 6: do his assistance. And hey, let's not act like Coastal
- 13:13Speaker 6: Carolina's head coach had to leave the premises.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Right, he's in the locker room. He was texting, Hey, say,
- 13:19Speaker 5: but hey, what do we do here? You want to pinchhit?
- 13:23Speaker 5: Got it all right?
- 13:24Speaker 6: Let's not act like he like he couldn't give them information.
- 13:27Speaker 7: He definitely had the old cellular device out, I mean
- 13:30Speaker 7: texting a little bit.
- 13:31Speaker 6: Look, things happen, they do, Okay, how do you deal
- 13:35Speaker 6: with things when they happen? Now, that delay could have
- 13:38Speaker 6: been something that LSU could have been like, oh man,
- 13:41Speaker 6: we were in a rhythm. Now we're at a rhythm.
- 13:42Speaker 6: And no, they didn't care. They went out there and
- 13:45Speaker 6: they handle business. You know, they didn't allow a delay
- 13:48Speaker 6: because of a PitchCom to get them off what their
- 13:51Speaker 6: game plan was. LSU was ready for every situation. That
- 13:55Speaker 6: was the most impressive thing to me. It didn't matter what,
- 13:58Speaker 6: it didn't matter who was called upon. To your point earlier, Matt,
- 14:01Speaker 6: they made it happen when it had to happen every
- 14:04Speaker 6: single time in this postseason.
- 14:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I think I think for me, the two, I
- 14:10Speaker 8: mean it's pretty obvious, but Iensen and Anderson, you know,
- 14:15Speaker 8: Anderson probably maybe maybe the best best game for an
- 14:18Speaker 8: LSU pitcher in the College World Series ever.
- 14:20Speaker 2: But but it for for me, it.
- 14:23Speaker 8: Was they were able to still go out there and
- 14:27Speaker 8: pitch so well even when they didn't have maybe their
- 14:29Speaker 8: best stuff. I mean, Anderson's stuff was still good. He
- 14:32Speaker 8: had he still had you know, ten strikeouts, but Ainstin
- 14:35Speaker 8: gave up seven hits and six and a third and
- 14:37Speaker 8: he still got nine strikeouts.
- 14:39Speaker 5: He still got through.
- 14:40Speaker 8: He he had traffic almost every inning, but he still
- 14:43Speaker 8: managed to limit the damage for the most part and
- 14:46Speaker 8: still had a really good game. And Anderson with five walks,
- 14:49Speaker 8: which was which was really uncharacteristic.
- 14:51Speaker 2: But both those.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Guys still showed up.
- 14:53Speaker 8: And you you you hold Coastal Carolina to three runs
- 14:56Speaker 8: in two games, which uh, you know, LSU didn't have
- 14:59Speaker 8: to do on offense in either the games. I mean
- 15:01Speaker 8: they had ten hits in this one. But still I
- 15:04Speaker 8: think that for me that was that was the really
- 15:08Speaker 8: the thing that stood out to me the most.
- 15:11Speaker 6: No, it's actually a good point because they did not
- 15:13Speaker 6: have you know, what we have seen all season long
- 15:16Speaker 6: as far as maybe the cleanest stuff, right, and maybe
- 15:19Speaker 6: the quickest innings, but still found a way to dominate.
- 15:23Speaker 6: Like even Kate Anderson he almost doubled his highest walk
- 15:26Speaker 6: total out of the year, right, I mean he has
- 15:29Speaker 6: five threes, the highest, but he still found a way
- 15:32Speaker 6: to grind through it and go the complete game distance
- 15:37Speaker 6: in the College World Series final, and Coastal's runs came
- 15:42Speaker 6: on home runs, which it hadn't hit any home runs
- 15:44Speaker 6: to that point. So like, you know, sure the home
- 15:47Speaker 6: runs still count, but you took Coastal out of what
- 15:50Speaker 6: they do. Like Coastal is all about, like manufacturing runs
- 15:54Speaker 6: and finding a way and button guys over and hitting
- 15:56Speaker 6: it the other way and going long and in bat
- 15:58Speaker 6: to get your pitch count up.
- 16:00Speaker 5: They are pesky, and you didn't allow them to be pesky.
- 16:03Speaker 7: You know, it all goes back to it all goes
- 16:05Speaker 7: back to pitching and defense, right they. I don't remember
- 16:09Speaker 7: who it was, either Ronaldo last week or Ben McDonald.
- 16:13Speaker 7: We asked a question like, what's the What changes the
- 16:16Speaker 7: mindset of a pitcher when you have a really good
- 16:18Speaker 7: defense behind you, right, you don't always have to be
- 16:22Speaker 7: focused on on striking.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Guys out, making them with make them get it in play. Right.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:27Speaker 7: Now, I think with Asin yesterday, it looked like, I mean,
- 16:29Speaker 7: it looked like to me he had great stuff. He
- 16:31Speaker 7: gave up some hiss, but it really did, especially on
- 16:34Speaker 7: the home right. It really just looked like, you know,
- 16:36Speaker 7: he has that great breaking ball. Man, it's got so
- 16:38Speaker 7: much job. It looks like they just guessed right a
- 16:39Speaker 7: couple of times on the pitches, but they did get
- 16:42Speaker 7: a hit.
- 16:43Speaker 6: Then he'd come back and his breaking ball was definitely
- 16:47Speaker 6: on par yesterday for sure.
- 16:48Speaker 7: Yeah, for sure, it just looked like they made the
- 16:50Speaker 7: right guess. They picked the pitch they you know, based
- 16:52Speaker 7: on the count or whatever. Maybe they were still in signals,
- 16:55Speaker 7: who knows, But now it's it's just the mindset and
- 17:01Speaker 7: even k I mean, they we have to make some
- 17:03Speaker 7: good defensive I like after.
- 17:04Speaker 5: The game, Cade's being interviewed.
- 17:06Speaker 6: He's like, you know, my defense played behind me, and
- 17:08Speaker 6: you know, thankful for them because I didn't strike a
- 17:10Speaker 6: lot of guys out today.
- 17:11Speaker 5: But he was he meant it like he meant every
- 17:13Speaker 5: word of it. I'm like, we got ten like he
- 17:16Speaker 5: got ten?
- 17:17Speaker 6: Right, we had double digit strikeouts in the Cultural Series finalit.
- 17:22Speaker 6: He's like, how do you get lost strikeouts today?
- 17:23Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, that's only a little over one per inting.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Like, all right, you got you got double digit.
- 17:30Speaker 6: There's there's a lot of people that are out there pitching,
- 17:33Speaker 6: you know, and people making money.
- 17:35Speaker 5: They don't have many of those ten strikeout games.
- 17:37Speaker 7: And I'd like to talk about this. It's at some
- 17:38Speaker 7: point today I asked Taylor about it. But like when
- 17:41Speaker 7: we came in this morning, I said, man, I'm watching
- 17:43Speaker 7: Kate Anderson pitch and he's like, his stats are great,
- 17:47Speaker 7: his stuff is great, and I'm looking at him like.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Man, what makes this guy so good?
- 17:53Speaker 7: He's not like a dominating like Presdent, like a big
- 17:56Speaker 7: guy doesn't have the one hundred mile an hour like
- 17:59Speaker 7: when you watch a couple years ago, you watch Paul Skins,
- 18:01Speaker 7: like you just it jumped out of them. Yeah, it
- 18:03Speaker 7: jumped out of the TV screen. Like what makes him
- 18:06Speaker 7: so good? Chase Shortes kind of has that a little
- 18:08Speaker 7: bit too, like you get it, but like what makes
- 18:10Speaker 7: Kane Anderson so good and so tough to hit? I'd
- 18:13Speaker 7: like to I'd like to jump into that a little
- 18:14Speaker 7: bit because I can't. It's kind of like an open discussion.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I don't really know what it is.
- 18:18Speaker 6: Yeah, but he has maybe played himself into being the
- 18:22Speaker 6: top overall pick. He has certainly played himself into being
- 18:25Speaker 6: a top ten Garrett Like that's guaranteed. I'd put a
- 18:30Speaker 6: lot of money, a lot of doll hairs on top
- 18:32Speaker 6: five pick. I mean, he has done himself a great
- 18:37Speaker 6: service here in this season to just continue to elevate,
- 18:40Speaker 6: continue to be the guy that you were hoping he
- 18:43Speaker 6: could be, and then some and look, so many performances
- 18:47Speaker 6: to talk about, so many different branches on this tree.
- 18:51Speaker 6: Will break down all the coaching injections and what happened
- 18:55Speaker 6: and also Lshu's coach showing great restraint in game number one,
- 19:00Speaker 6: and that's how you would like to see that situation handle.
- 19:03Speaker 6: Because Jay Johnson got to continue to coach the game
- 19:06Speaker 6: and the next game, even though he really wanted to
- 19:09Speaker 6: go ask a question to the umpire.
- 19:12Speaker 5: So look, stay locked in.
- 19:14Speaker 6: I promise we are going to cover every single angle
- 19:17Speaker 6: of LSU's eighth national championship, and we'll do it right
- 19:21Speaker 6: here on OTB Off the bench, all right, go to
- 19:25Speaker 6: go Tommy's dot Com, g e a Ux, Tommy's dot Com,
- 19:29Speaker 6: Tommy's Windows, Doors and Sighting. Now we've been telling you
- 19:33Speaker 6: over the last couple of weeks, hang the banners. They
- 19:36Speaker 6: win awards every single year, but one of the ones
- 19:39Speaker 6: they won this year, twenty twenty five in the Advocate
- 19:42Speaker 6: best Windows in the city. Right, there's a lot of
- 19:46Speaker 6: companies that do that here in Baton Rouge.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Right.
- 19:49Speaker 6: Look, there's some good companies, but Tommy's the best.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:54Speaker 6: That's why you continue to stack awards. It's because of
- 19:57Speaker 6: customer service. It's because of the quality of work. It's
- 20:00Speaker 6: because you're talking about over thirty years of experience for
- 20:03Speaker 6: Tommy and the team. Go to the website where you
- 20:06Speaker 6: will clearly see the difference. Go Tommies dot com.
- 20:09Speaker 7: If you're working on your house, building a new house, renovating,
- 20:11Speaker 7: whatever it is, call the company, like Jake said, has
- 20:14Speaker 7: the awards. It works with integrity. They're dependable, they're professional.
- 20:19Speaker 7: The most important part when you're building something you want
- 20:21Speaker 7: to get back in your house. You want them to
- 20:22Speaker 7: be efficient. Go to Tommy's the check out what they
- 20:24Speaker 7: can do for you. Go Tommies dot com two two five,
- 20:27Speaker 7: two five oh eight eight eight.
- 20:30Speaker 3: From Players to Legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown LSU football
- 20:34Speaker 3: like only champions can.
- 20:59Speaker 4: All.
- 20:59Speaker 6: Right, welcome back, it is oh TB and let's go
- 21:03Speaker 6: ahead and get this thing started.
- 21:07Speaker 3: It's time to get to work. Courtesy of go Flow

- 21:48Speaker 6: go see them over a go flow iv SPA.

- 22:07Speaker 7: Go hydrate baby.
- 22:08Speaker 2: All right.
- 22:09Speaker 6: So, one of my favorite things about this team in
- 22:14Speaker 6: the way that they were all kind of put together.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:17Speaker 6: You might not have as many superstars as you had
- 22:20Speaker 6: in twenty twenty three.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Like twenty twenty three that was like a rare combination
- 22:25Speaker 5: of stars.
- 22:26Speaker 6: Okay, you had the number one and number two picks
- 22:28Speaker 6: Paul Skeens and Dylan Cruz, but you also had a
- 22:31Speaker 6: guy like Tommy Tanks Tommy White, who had a nickname
- 22:35Speaker 6: where you said Tommy Tanks and the entire country knew
- 22:37Speaker 6: who you were talking about. And like we could go
- 22:39Speaker 6: down a list of the stars that were on that team.
- 22:42Speaker 6: This seems a little bit different now. They got guys
- 22:45Speaker 6: Steven Milam, Derek Uriel, Kad Anderson that.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Have star potential are going to play baseball for a
- 22:53Speaker 5: long time.
- 22:54Speaker 6: But like that twenty three team, I mean, everybody in
- 22:56Speaker 6: college baseball when you said a last name, when you
- 22:59Speaker 6: you could even probably say, Paul Della. They knew exactly
- 23:02Speaker 6: who you were talking about. I love that this team
- 23:04Speaker 6: was different than that team, and I love that you
- 23:07Speaker 6: you had pieces Ethan Fry. It never looked like Eighthan
- 23:11Speaker 6: Fry was gonna play here. He had injuries, you know,
- 23:15Speaker 6: had some tough times here and there, but he sticks
- 23:18Speaker 6: with it. He didn't take his ball and go home. No,
- 23:21Speaker 6: he wants to play for LSU. Grew up in Louisiana,
- 23:24Speaker 6: so he stays. He doesn't play, you know, for multiple years.
- 23:29Speaker 6: He gets his opportunity and he's hitting second for this
- 23:32Speaker 6: team at the end of the year and gets three
- 23:34Speaker 6: hits when it matters the most. You look at a
- 23:39Speaker 6: Luis Hernandez coming from Indiana State, Right, he ain't coming
- 23:43Speaker 6: from Tennessee, He ain't coming from Mississippi State.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Right.
- 23:48Speaker 6: He worked his way through the mid major ranks to
- 23:51Speaker 6: get to LSU. Daniel Dickinson, right, didn't have a scholarship
- 23:56Speaker 6: out of high school. Right, doesn't have a lot of options.
- 23:59Speaker 6: Walks on, ends up at Utah Valley and then finds
- 24:03Speaker 6: his way to LSU. The standard of college baseball and
- 24:08Speaker 6: as your starting second baseman plays incredible lights out defense
- 24:12Speaker 6: the entire year, handles the bat incredibly well, and oh yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 6: finishes it with a broken bone in his hand and
- 24:20Speaker 6: nobody knows because he didn't care.
- 24:21Speaker 5: He just wanted to go win.
- 24:23Speaker 6: Like we could go over five six other guys on
- 24:27Speaker 6: the team that have a very similar story to those guys.
- 24:31Speaker 6: And look, there's nothing wrong with winning it the way
- 24:33Speaker 6: twenty three did with all the Stars, because we've seen
- 24:36Speaker 6: teams that have been dream teams air quotes and hadn't
- 24:39Speaker 6: won anything. That team finished it. That's impressive in its
- 24:41Speaker 6: own right. But also this team got a little bit
- 24:45Speaker 6: of my favorite tagline, too gritty to be pretty. All
- 24:48Speaker 6: they cared about was when the situation was in front
- 24:52Speaker 6: of them that they found a way. And it wasn't
- 24:54Speaker 6: always pretty, but it always got done.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I can tell you. I just.
- 24:59Speaker 7: I'm thankful for you right now because you just taught
- 25:01Speaker 7: me a few things about this team. Didn't know where
- 25:03Speaker 7: these guys came from.
- 25:04Speaker 2: It is. It's wildly impressive. Right, Hey, what are you
- 25:07Speaker 2: laughing at? Taylor? Relax over there?
- 25:10Speaker 5: Hey, Hey, okay, but just so.
- 25:11Speaker 7: Right though, Like you don't win eight national championships by
- 25:15Speaker 7: doing it just one way, and like you. If you're
- 25:18Speaker 7: gonna get like sensitive and annoyed about me, like just
- 25:21Speaker 7: talking about how great J is all day, you might
- 25:24Speaker 7: as well tune off now because that's just the testament
- 25:26Speaker 7: to how good he is is. There's not one way.
- 25:29Speaker 7: It's not like his way or the highway. Let me
- 25:33Speaker 7: figure out where the needs are. I mean, he walked
- 25:36Speaker 7: into like a gold mine with like you said in
- 25:38Speaker 7: twenty twenty three, I mean, that's just talent, talent, talent,
- 25:42Speaker 7: and like, yeah, you take it. It's like twenty nineteen
- 25:45Speaker 7: LSU football, right, yeah, yeah, you take that talent, you
- 25:48Speaker 7: don't apologize for it, and you go out there and
- 25:49Speaker 7: do what you're supposed to do. But guess what, I
- 25:52Speaker 7: can also win without those number one and two picks
- 25:56Speaker 7: in the draft, right right, We're gonna do it the
- 25:57Speaker 7: right way. Like I said, the things he did in
- 25:59Speaker 7: the offseason to bring those guys in to not just
- 26:02Speaker 7: look at like the top guys.
- 26:03Speaker 2: From Tennessee or Vanderbilt for what, Lake Forest wherever.
- 26:07Speaker 7: It is like, let's go look and find a guy
- 26:09Speaker 7: that fits with what we do, fills in need, and
- 26:15Speaker 7: every button that he pushed, every move that he made,
- 26:18Speaker 7: proved to be right and this team. If you're a
- 26:19Speaker 7: golfer out there, you kind of know, like the term
- 26:22Speaker 7: at ham and egg means a little bit. It's when
- 26:26Speaker 7: you're on a team and if one guy struggling the.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Other guy, the other guy steps up and makes a shot.
- 26:31Speaker 7: And then a couple holes later that that guy struggling
- 26:34Speaker 7: the other guy makes a shot. That's what this team
- 26:36Speaker 7: was is there's not at one point. I mean they
- 26:39Speaker 7: won eight straight games to win the National championship since
- 26:43Speaker 7: they lost the game two versus Little Rock. Yeah, they
- 26:45Speaker 7: won eight straight games. So and it wasn't just one
- 26:48Speaker 7: guy that was dominant, dominant, dominant, dominant, like, they all
- 26:51Speaker 7: found a way to step up and make a big hit,
- 26:54Speaker 7: make a big defensive.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Play, make a pitch, whatever.
- 26:56Speaker 7: It was a full complete from top to bottom, one
- 27:00Speaker 7: through nine. DH's coming in in the sixth City and
- 27:03Speaker 7: getting a big hit, Jake Brown like. It was everything
- 27:07Speaker 7: that you that you want, everything that is right about sports,
- 27:12Speaker 7: everything that is good about sports and college baseball and
- 27:15Speaker 7: college sports in general. A team coming together that wasn't
- 27:19Speaker 7: together three hundred and sixty five days ago, and under
- 27:25Speaker 7: the leadership of Jay Johnson, just finding a way to
- 27:28Speaker 7: be gritty to be winners and now put a ring
- 27:32Speaker 7: on it.
- 27:34Speaker 6: And also somebody I left out there that I want
- 27:36Speaker 6: to for sure highlight Chris Stanfield. He did come from
- 27:42Speaker 6: the big program, but I remember when he came out
- 27:45Speaker 6: of the portal. I remember doing shows me and Toe
- 27:47Speaker 6: you wat sitting here like okay, okay, well all right.
- 27:50Speaker 6: It was like that's it, all right, because you know,
- 27:52Speaker 6: the numbers weren't gonna blow you away, but ls, you
- 27:56Speaker 6: probably don't win a national championship if they don't have
- 27:59Speaker 6: that kind of hit there at the bottom of the lineup.
- 28:01Speaker 6: All season long, you never felt like, oh man, here
- 28:04Speaker 6: comes seven eight nine, Here comes seven eight nine in
- 28:06Speaker 6: the line up, go ahead and turn it over because
- 28:09Speaker 6: you had a double lead off. You had somebody that
- 28:11Speaker 6: handled the bat incredibly well. For a long portion of
- 28:14Speaker 6: the SEC season. He had the best batting average in
- 28:16Speaker 6: conference play, and when you needed him the most, yesterday,
- 28:21Speaker 6: he came up with the hit that kind of put
- 28:23Speaker 6: everything away, that gave l s U the ultimate faith
- 28:27Speaker 6: and took all the win out of Coastal.
- 28:28Speaker 7: Sales kind of let me, let me just let me
- 28:31Speaker 7: paint a picture on that real quick, yes yesterday. So
- 28:35Speaker 7: we go to the little uh I can't remember what
- 28:39Speaker 7: it's called. It's a little LSU spirit shop. We wanted
- 28:41Speaker 7: to get some in Perkins Row. Anybody, anybody Perkins R
- 28:48Speaker 7: right down the corner, right there on the corner across
- 28:50Speaker 7: the move.
- 28:51Speaker 2: We'll think of it. We'll get there anyway.
- 28:52Speaker 5: We go there to buy something alumni.
- 28:54Speaker 7: Hallumn look at c T e O TV baby three.
- 29:00Speaker 7: We go to find some LSU jerseys, LSU swag, whatever
- 29:04Speaker 7: it is. Everyone's just fired up. We're we're just feeling
- 29:07Speaker 7: it right filling the championship. And they have these on
- 29:10Speaker 7: it baseball cards. So they's on it baseball cards and
- 29:14Speaker 7: this feature in the LSU baseball team. Okay, so you
- 29:17Speaker 7: know we're into cards. Obviously, we've talked about it many times.
- 29:21Speaker 5: And might be something we dabble in.
- 29:22Speaker 2: So I'm like, all right, look, huck, let's get one.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Let's get a packet.
- 29:25Speaker 7: See what we have, because like, if there's a celebration
- 29:27Speaker 7: this week, maybe you can take him, maybe we can
- 29:28Speaker 7: get an autograph something like that on one of these cards.
- 29:30Speaker 2: It'd be cool.
- 29:30Speaker 7: It'd be really cool, cool event for him and the
- 29:35Speaker 7: very nice girl that was working there.
- 29:38Speaker 2: She says, Hey, what player are you looking for? She's
- 29:39Speaker 2: got a binder of all the players.
- 29:41Speaker 7: Yeah, and he's like, I want Kate Anderson, I want Stanfield. Yeah,
- 29:46Speaker 7: because he because he had he had met Stanfield real briefly.
- 29:49Speaker 7: We brought some we were bringing some my high to
- 29:51Speaker 7: like during the super Regionals on that hot day, like
- 29:53Speaker 7: a little emergency run, and he met him. So he's
- 29:55Speaker 7: like he's a fan now. And the lady, the girl
- 29:58Speaker 7: that was working there, she was like, look flipping there.
- 29:59Speaker 7: She's like, I don't think Stanfield's printed. Like, they didn't
- 30:02Speaker 7: make the Stanfield card, right, So we got these two cards,
- 30:05Speaker 7: but like look just to your point, yeah, they didn't
- 30:08Speaker 7: make they made it off all the players on the team.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I don't think that. Now she might have been wrong.
- 30:13Speaker 7: Obviously we didn't pull it and we couldn't find it
- 30:16Speaker 7: in like the list of the people that.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Were putting in. If you can't find it, it's probably
- 30:20Speaker 5: not there.
- 30:21Speaker 6: You're pretty good at finding those cards checklists.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 30:28Speaker 7: That's the end of my point, right there is like
- 30:31Speaker 7: the guy that comes up is before the season when
- 30:33Speaker 7: they printed these things.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Yeah, they had no clue.
- 30:35Speaker 6: Yeah, and to what his standard had been, he had
- 30:38Speaker 6: been struggling a little bit at the plate. And again
- 30:41Speaker 6: it was one hit yesterday, but it was the hit.
- 30:43Speaker 6: It drives in two runs. He scores himself. And it's
- 30:47Speaker 6: just another story on this team of guys that just
- 30:51Speaker 6: found a way to LSU. And credit to Jay Johnson
- 30:53Speaker 6: and the staff for and I understand that Daniel Digginson
- 30:58Speaker 6: was highly rated in the transfer portal, Luis Hernandez was
- 31:01Speaker 6: highly rated, but still like their path to get to LSU.
- 31:05Speaker 6: And look, when you're going from Utah Valley to LSU
- 31:09Speaker 6: and the SEC, right, that doesn't always translate, right. We
- 31:14Speaker 6: talk about in football all the time, like you're a
- 31:16Speaker 6: quarterback that dominated the G five level and then you
- 31:18Speaker 6: go to a Big ten school and it's like where'd
- 31:20Speaker 6: that guy go?
- 31:22Speaker 5: Right, It's not easy. It's a different game.
- 31:25Speaker 6: There might have been a pitcher, one pitcher maybe two
- 31:27Speaker 6: at Utah Valley that has the same like SEC stuff
- 31:32Speaker 6: that you see every pitcher, starter, reliever does not matter.
- 31:35Speaker 6: So you still have to get that done. And again
- 31:38Speaker 6: finding out he did it with a broken bone in
- 31:40Speaker 6: his hand. I already loved the kid. I mean all
- 31:44Speaker 6: the swag Ferry Bond's ear ring, you're gonna wear that
- 31:47Speaker 6: you better pull it off. He does, Taylor, don't give
- 31:49Speaker 6: me that look. Don't give me that look. You ain't
- 31:52Speaker 6: going out there with a broken hand.
- 31:54Speaker 5: I'm not going out there. Well, he did it, and
- 31:57Speaker 5: back then you're.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Probably not even showing it up to work.
- 31:59Speaker 6: But a nah, I can't type today. Well he went
- 32:03Speaker 6: out there and turned a double play to finish the season.
- 32:05Speaker 6: Bo take that and his dang earing.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Well to your point about Dickinson, I mean Matt were
- 32:11Speaker 1: talking before the show, and Matt's like, you know, like
- 32:13Speaker 1: all the players I dove into, he's like Dickets. That's
- 32:15Speaker 1: kind of the guy I know the least about. And
- 32:17Speaker 1: I'm like, it's because he's so consistent. Right, Like you
- 32:20Speaker 1: may say, okay, he's not coming up with the walk
- 32:22Speaker 1: off HiT's like Jerry Jones. But I mean, this is
- 32:24Speaker 1: a guy that's bad at what three hundred and three
- 32:27Speaker 1: twenty like covered in there the entire season. He went
- 32:30Speaker 1: from the two hole, he went to the seven hole.
- 32:32Speaker 1: He was good regardless of where he was, like dicketson
- 32:35Speaker 1: an underrated piece on this team.
- 32:37Speaker 7: I mean, it's nice for me to say I actually
- 32:40Speaker 7: said that. He's a guy I can't remember his name
- 32:42Speaker 7: he's hat the one guy just good.
- 32:45Speaker 2: I got it.
- 32:46Speaker 6: It's like literally the like it's double d it's super easy.
- 32:51Speaker 2: What super hard? I guess.
- 32:53Speaker 5: I know we got to.
- 32:54Speaker 6: Carve out some some space for names in that brainy years.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I got the rest of them. Don't look at me
- 33:02Speaker 2: like that, dude.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Just because it comes to your head doesn't mean you
- 33:05Speaker 5: have to say it either. You can keep that one.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I need to.
- 33:09Speaker 7: Filter the old noggin every now. Fans in the huddle, Taylor,
- 33:12Speaker 7: he says, how frustrated do you get.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Every time I sit here and I moved the mic?
- 33:16Speaker 1: Well, that's what I mentioned, Like I think he maybe
- 33:18Speaker 1: thinks I'm an audio. It was like I'm worried about
- 33:20Speaker 1: the cameras. It was like, you do move a lot,
- 33:22Speaker 1: so I'm having to adjust the camera a lot. I
- 33:23Speaker 1: don't care about the mic. That's that's That's the Beck's Department.
- 33:26Speaker 6: Are the best part is when Matt's getting really into
- 33:28Speaker 6: a point and he's.
- 33:28Speaker 7: Like he does do that, which I think, can we
- 33:32Speaker 7: get a padded table? This triangle table is kind of
- 33:36Speaker 7: noisy when every time I move the mic.
- 33:41Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, I can hear it too, So listeners, when
- 33:44Speaker 6: we come back we will break down the injections. We'll
- 33:48Speaker 6: break down what happened there in the first inning in
- 33:51Speaker 6: yesterday's game. I know there's a lot of thoughts a
- 33:54Speaker 6: lot of people out there, certainly if you were not
- 33:56Speaker 6: hoping that LSU won the game, that you know, maybe
- 34:00Speaker 6: talked about how much it actually impacted the game when
- 34:03Speaker 6: the guy was still calling the shots.
- 34:05Speaker 5: It didn't matter.
- 34:06Speaker 6: Like I said earlier, Joe Toy, even my guy Bobby
- 34:09Speaker 6: Cox could have been managing the game, it would not
- 34:11Speaker 6: have mattered. And we'll break it all down when we
- 34:13Speaker 6: come back here on OTV. Off the bench, all right,
- 34:17Speaker 6: go to trash rangers dot com. Trash rangers dot com

- 35:27Speaker 3: This is Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, Matt
- 35:30Speaker 3: and Rouges go to for all things Louisiana Sports.
- 35:42Speaker 9: All right, welcome back gain OTB here on this Monday morning,
- 35:48Speaker 9: continuing to celebrate LSU's eighth national championship as they take
- 35:53Speaker 9: down Coastal Carolina to a que There for Coastal against LSU.
- 35:59Speaker 6: LSU pushes all all the right buttons makes every single
- 36:01Speaker 6: play the batter's box on the mound on the field. Truly,
- 36:07Speaker 6: truly an impressive run from LSU after losing, you know,
- 36:11Speaker 6: in the regional game six to Little Rock. In fact,
- 36:17Speaker 6: it's the only postseason game I went to. But there
- 36:24Speaker 6: was a lot of people thought, maybe, okay, well, I mean,
- 36:25Speaker 6: you're losing a little roy It just shows how hot
- 36:27Speaker 6: that Little Rock team got. I mean, they were putting
- 36:29Speaker 6: up football scores against everybody else in the regional.
- 36:32Speaker 5: But they put their head down, they go to work,
- 36:33Speaker 5: they finish it.
- 36:35Speaker 2: So those little as almost beat us.
- 36:37Speaker 6: They were scrappy, a little bunch, scrappy, a little bunch there.
- 36:41Speaker 5: You have more problems with Little Rock than you did Arkansas.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. It faced Arkansas.
- 36:46Speaker 6: So here is one of the things that's certainly going
- 36:50Speaker 6: to be talked about for the next couple of days.
- 36:52Speaker 6: Coastal Carolina's head coach getting tossed first base coach getting
- 36:56Speaker 6: tossed out of the game yesterday in the bottom of
- 36:59Speaker 6: the first.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Dye game started in the SEC. He gave up a
- 37:03Speaker 4: total of tenor and runs and struck out seventy five.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Alexander Off rode out and we're good, no good, and.
- 37:13Speaker 10: That's what you're thinking right there, Rabie. Pick a breaking
- 37:16Speaker 10: ball count and be aggressive. And that's exactly what Alexander
- 37:21Speaker 10: does right here. Not the best of jumps, but if
- 37:23Speaker 10: you're picking a breaking ball, you've got a little bore margin,
- 37:26Speaker 10: and Alexander steals that one easy on a throw inside
- 37:30Speaker 10: the back.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Well, with ians in about every count is potentially a
- 37:33Speaker 5: breaking ball count.
- 37:34Speaker 6: He throws that curveball the slider roughly fifty percent of
- 37:37Speaker 6: the time.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Oh my goodness. He chose Kevin Schnall out of the game.
- 37:50Speaker 6: Wow.
- 37:51Speaker 4: In the bottom of the first inning, the home played
- 37:53Speaker 4: umpire throws Kevin Schnall out of this game, and down
- 37:57Speaker 4: goes an umpire who had come to the middle of face.
- 38:08Speaker 4: I believe, guys, this had to do what happened at
- 38:11Speaker 4: the end of the top of the first with the
- 38:13Speaker 4: third base coach for LSU. This seemed to stem from
- 38:17Speaker 4: the first base coach. And then Schnall remarkably gets thrown
- 38:22Speaker 4: out of the game a College World Series Game two
- 38:25Speaker 4: in the bottom of the first time.
- 38:31Speaker 10: Well, and I didn't even see that building, guys, Like
- 38:33Speaker 10: It's one pitch and next thing you know, Schnall's out
- 38:35Speaker 10: out of the door.
- 38:37Speaker 2: All right.
- 38:38Speaker 6: So that was how it all played out, and it
- 38:41Speaker 6: was Coastal's first base coach that started to question balls
- 38:46Speaker 6: and strikes and the umpire right, he's like basically, hey,
- 38:50Speaker 6: come get your boy right. He got settled down, he's
- 38:53Speaker 6: got a warning. And then that's when schnaw came out
- 38:57Speaker 6: for what for what? And you can tell the I
- 39:00Speaker 6: was telling him the entire time, go back to the dugout,
- 39:02Speaker 6: go back to that.
- 39:03Speaker 5: Now.
- 39:03Speaker 6: Was it too quick for me in that scenario that situation, Yes,
- 39:08Speaker 6: it was like I just I don't I don't want
- 39:12Speaker 6: to see it happen in that game. Now, in a
- 39:14Speaker 6: regular season game, that was like everything that you can't
- 39:19Speaker 6: do to an umpire to stay into the game. The
- 39:23Speaker 6: initial questioning okay, and then you're going towards him. He
- 39:27Speaker 6: tells you to get back three or four times, you don't.
- 39:29Speaker 6: And then once you say, because you've missed three, that's
- 39:33Speaker 6: questioning balls and strikes. That's going to get you wrung
- 39:35Speaker 6: every single time. Again for me, I don't want to
- 39:39Speaker 6: see it happen. Certainly in a national championship game. That's
- 39:42Speaker 6: what the umpire saw. That's what the umpire called him for.
- 39:46Speaker 6: And then it, you know, turned into kind of a
- 39:48Speaker 6: circus there with the umpire tripping and it looking like
- 39:52Speaker 6: he got bumped at first and he didn't get bumped,
- 39:54Speaker 6: and so.
- 39:55Speaker 7: Uh and like watching the game too, it's because you
- 39:58Speaker 7: didn't You didn't have a clip or audio or we
- 40:01Speaker 7: had no idea was happening. So like the immediate reaction
- 40:04Speaker 7: obviously is like what is the imp doing? Like this
- 40:07Speaker 7: is in the ump show, is a little man center
- 40:09Speaker 7: whatever it is, Like, what is happening right now? And
- 40:12Speaker 7: then especially like you know, my wife and kids are like, hey,
- 40:15Speaker 7: what's happening to dad? You know, of course I didn't
- 40:16Speaker 7: know what's happening, but uh, I get it's what is
- 40:20Speaker 7: what's causing this? And then they explain it. The announcers
- 40:22Speaker 7: explain it. Whether this is right or wrong, whether this
- 40:25Speaker 7: is the rules, I don't know, but per the announcer
- 40:28Speaker 7: in the game, it's your issue to warning you cannot
- 40:31Speaker 7: come out of the dugout and argue a call no,
- 40:35Speaker 7: and if you continue to argue pro longer and then
- 40:37Speaker 7: you get two more.
- 40:37Speaker 6: Right, yeah, and if you question balls and strikes like that.
- 40:40Speaker 6: So the first base coach was questioning that that's what
- 40:43Speaker 6: he got the warning for and then Shanaw comes out
- 40:45Speaker 6: for what for what right? But the umpire of the
- 40:48Speaker 6: entire time saying go back in, go back in, go
- 40:50Speaker 6: back in, and he doesn't. Then when he says, because
- 40:54Speaker 6: you've missed three calls again, that's always going to get
- 40:57Speaker 6: you tossed out of a game.
- 40:58Speaker 5: Now, the situation being a National Championship game, I don't.
- 41:02Speaker 5: I don't like. I don't love to see it.
- 41:04Speaker 2: I don't is that cause for ejections, I get it, but.
- 41:10Speaker 5: I know you're a little new to baseball.
- 41:11Speaker 6: Umpires in baseball at and they think people paid to
- 41:15Speaker 6: see them.
- 41:15Speaker 2: It's about them. I get it.
- 41:17Speaker 7: But like a coach coming out and arguing for his
- 41:20Speaker 7: guys is kind of part of baseball, right, that's I.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Think telling him to go back and not only did
- 41:26Speaker 1: he go back, he came closer. But like to Jake's point,
- 41:29Speaker 1: like I don't like it in the National Championship, But
- 41:31Speaker 1: at the same time, the rules don't go out the
- 41:33Speaker 1: window because it's National Championships, like themps are gonna I
- 41:35Speaker 1: mean kind of.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Three or four one.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Yeah, like trying to get him back into the dug out.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I never defended all, but they're kind of in a
- 41:42Speaker 1: tough spot there, like what do you do?
- 41:44Speaker 6: And it was because I think when you keep coming
- 41:48Speaker 6: towards the umpire, that's gonna you know, that's gonna be
- 41:51Speaker 6: something that he notices. And then once you call out
- 41:53Speaker 6: how many pitches you think he's missed? Now, remember when
- 41:57Speaker 6: Daniel Dickinson got you know, hit by the baseball, They
- 42:01Speaker 6: said he leaned into it with his elbow, which, by
- 42:03Speaker 6: the way, like the broadcast was like.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Well, actually to the letter of the law.
- 42:06Speaker 6: It's like, but you didn't say that when the coach
- 42:10Speaker 6: got tossed. But that's neither here nor there. That's just
- 42:12Speaker 6: something I picked on. I'm like, well, you said in
- 42:15Speaker 6: that situation to the letter of law. But it's like,
- 42:17Speaker 6: but you didn't in the first one. So Jay Johnson
- 42:19Speaker 6: could have had every opportunity to be pretty mad. I
- 42:22Speaker 6: was pretty mad. Like it's ball four, Like, what do
- 42:24Speaker 6: you think he's trying to lean into? He's gonna get
- 42:26Speaker 6: on base either way. And you can see Jay on
- 42:28Speaker 6: the broadcast say, after they reviewed it, they called him out,
- 42:32Speaker 6: can I come ask a question? He says no, He goes,
- 42:34Speaker 6: just a question. I just want a question, He goes, no,
- 42:36Speaker 6: He goes okay, because he knew in that moment that
- 42:39Speaker 6: if he comes out and you argue a review, that's
- 42:43Speaker 6: probably gonna get you tossed. And he showed restraint not
- 42:45Speaker 6: coming out of the dugout, and Schnall wasn't able to
- 42:48Speaker 6: show the same restraint. So J Johnson knew the moment.
- 42:53Speaker 6: He knew that if he came out and argued, even
- 42:54Speaker 6: though it was a BS call to me, there's a
- 42:57Speaker 6: lot of people that agree with it. Whatever I didn't,
- 42:59Speaker 6: Jay didn't. He knew that he was probably gonna be
- 43:01Speaker 6: in trouble.
- 43:03Speaker 7: A little bit of uh, you know, been there, done
- 43:06Speaker 7: that situation, a little bit of maturity there coming out,
- 43:08Speaker 7: a little bit experience coming out. But for the Coastals coach,
- 43:13Speaker 7: you know, sometimes having all the muscles in all fun
- 43:15Speaker 7: and games, you start walking towards the ump, you little
- 43:18Speaker 7: look a little bit more aggressive. The argument could be
- 43:21Speaker 7: made that if he was a little bit more frail looking,
- 43:25Speaker 7: a little bit less intimidating looking, maybe he doesn't get
- 43:27Speaker 7: thrown out. But boy, when that face gets red, it
- 43:29Speaker 7: was vains start popping out the side of his temple.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Every coach and Coastal look the same everyone They did
- 43:36Speaker 5: the interro whatever.
- 43:37Speaker 6: I guarantee you their slow pitch softball team in the
- 43:40Speaker 6: off season hits tanks probably.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Fulling.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Then who's like the active head coach. I'm like, I
- 43:48Speaker 1: thought that was the first base until I figured out
- 43:50Speaker 1: he got ejected to I was.
- 43:52Speaker 2: It probably was just a different jersey. Flip this jersey on.
- 43:55Speaker 6: All right, all right, let's take our last break abo
- 43:58Speaker 6: hour number one, close it out.
- 44:00Speaker 5: When we come back.

- 44:22Speaker 6: old generator had to kick on for us.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Thank god you had it.
- 44:26Speaker 6: And now I will say I'm going to be truthful here.
- 44:29Speaker 6: It was after the game, But oh boy, if it
- 44:32Speaker 6: would have been during the game, and if I would
- 44:33Speaker 6: have missed five minutes of that game, I'd have been heated.

- 45:52Speaker 8: That was generic bead number five? Because we had one
