- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey everyone, welcome to another episode they almost say this podcast. Today,
- 0:09Speaker 2: I am joined by April from The Golden Bachelor. She's
- 0:11Speaker 2: wearing some pretty Cinderella heels and like so much bling.
- 0:15Speaker 2: You are sparkling head to toe. You are a glam girl.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Yes I am.
- 0:20Speaker 4: I originally am part fairy and part nymph, and I
- 0:25Speaker 4: have the same first house in my astrology as Marilyn Monroe.
- 0:30Speaker 3: So that explains a bunch.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Oh, this fairy and nymph mean.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Like, well, a fairy is magical, but she is kind
- 0:37Speaker 4: of oh well, should I say she can be controversial,
- 0:43Speaker 4: and she can kind of be spunky. I'm my nickname
- 0:47Speaker 4: is Spitfire. And then a nymph, of course, is a seductress.
- 0:52Speaker 4: So you have the fairy essence, which is magical and
- 0:56Speaker 4: elusive and sometimes contrary. She has a bad temper, and
- 1:02Speaker 4: then the nymph energy, which every man loves. You would
- 1:07Speaker 4: know me if you saw me.
- 1:10Speaker 2: And we have lots of confidence too, Yes exactly.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I mean, is there any other kind April? Let's be honest.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Is Gary your type?
- 1:20Speaker 3: Let's be honest? Hell no, what is your type? My type?
- 1:29Speaker 4: Right now? Is I am looking for a retired player.
- 1:36Speaker 4: In other words, he was a player, such a player
- 1:39Speaker 4: he wrote the book, but he's not playing anymore except
- 1:43Speaker 4: with me. I want someone who's gonna play, play hard,
- 1:48Speaker 4: but only with me, because a normal player will play
- 1:51Speaker 4: with everybody, and as a fairy, I cannot handle that, Okay,
- 1:56Speaker 4: And I will tell any man I'm in love with honey,
- 2:00Speaker 4: I will never ever hurt you unless I have to.
- 2:05Speaker 2: All Right, this man sounds really hard to find.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Well, yeah, because then it comes with, you know, being enterprising,
- 2:12Speaker 4: which is a polite PC word for having money.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Wait, so he has to have money and also have
- 2:19Speaker 2: this alert of being a total player, but.
- 2:21Speaker 3: A settled down one.
- 2:22Speaker 4: I don't know good players that don't have money, do you.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I honestly, I can't players have money. You can't play,
- 2:32Speaker 2: not in a retired athlete.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that would be good. Yeah, I mean as long.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Actually it is an aura. I'm gonna get serious. I
- 2:41Speaker 4: have a lot of energy. I'm very powerful. So I'm
- 2:44Speaker 4: like a powerful man that can control me. And you know,
- 2:48Speaker 4: like when I walk into the room and he looks
- 2:50Speaker 4: at me, I.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Just you know, like fifty shades stuff. Well, how many
- 2:56Speaker 3: shades have I gotten through. I don't know yet, but
- 3:00Speaker 3: you know.
- 3:02Speaker 4: That's another conversation. I think that's an after midnight show.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Okay, we'll finish your thought there.
- 3:10Speaker 4: So no, Actually, I do believe I have fallen in
- 3:14Speaker 4: love with people who have the same kind of frequency,
- 3:17Speaker 4: the same energy level. Someone who likes to play I
- 3:21Speaker 4: call it zinging and zanging, someone who is carefree, someone
- 3:25Speaker 4: also who has a good heart, and someone who can
- 3:28Speaker 4: see through my bullshit and still love me and know
- 3:32Speaker 4: how to control me like pipe down, Princess or you know,
- 3:35Speaker 4: or I'm watching you, you know. And I like to behave,
- 3:40Speaker 4: you know, but I need someone strong so that I
- 3:44Speaker 4: want to behave.
- 3:45Speaker 3: So why did you stick around?
- 3:47Speaker 4: Well, I had really not dated since my significant other passed.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Away, a player, and I really.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Wanted the experience of dating, and I thought, I'm gonna
- 4:01Speaker 4: really go out on the edge here and give this
- 4:04Speaker 4: a try. So Actually, you know, my family was happy
- 4:08Speaker 4: I didn't like Gary, because had I liked this guy,
- 4:13Speaker 4: this show would have.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Been way different.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I mean, the producers are probably hoping you would really
- 4:19Speaker 2: like him.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yeah, they probably were, because I would go crazy. I mean,
- 4:23Speaker 4: if I will, if I'm in love, I lose my mind,
- 4:28Speaker 4: everything that I have.
- 4:29Speaker 3: But that's the true case.
- 4:30Speaker 4: When you fall in love, the frontal area of your
- 4:34Speaker 4: brain no longer works for like I no, no, twelve yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 4: two years, twenty four to thirty two months, And so
- 4:42Speaker 4: that happens to me as well. So I would have
- 4:46Speaker 4: been like jumping over those girls. It would have got ugly.
- 4:50Speaker 2: If the Golden Bachelor in Paradise happens. What celebrity man
- 4:55Speaker 2: would be your player? The player of your dreams down
- 4:57Speaker 2: that beach?
- 4:58Speaker 3: Okay, Michael Keaton.
- 5:02Speaker 4: He is hot, he's older, he doesn't and he could.
- 5:06Speaker 3: He could control me.
- 5:07Speaker 4: And he's funny as and I'm funnyish, so we could
- 5:12Speaker 4: out funny each other, out other things each other. I
- 5:17Speaker 4: was like thinking of other f things funny. He could
- 5:21Speaker 4: control me. I could have fun with him. I could
- 5:26Speaker 4: tease him.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Is he married? I'm not sure Google Google or Easton.
- 5:33Speaker 3: He probably is. I think he is, but somebody like that,
- 5:38Speaker 3: Oh no, he's single. Holy jemollis, Oh Michael, this is
- 5:44Speaker 3: this is her call out to Michael. Yeah, oh my god.
- 5:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 2: All right, well, April, you have to fill us in
- 6:00Speaker 2: on the Frankie Valley drama. Okay, I do love him.
- 6:04Speaker 2: The lead singer of the Four Seasons. You apparently had quite.
- 6:08Speaker 3: A love affair with Sherry.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Shit.
- 6:10Speaker 3: You know what.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Two years ago he released because It's not just Me.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Everyone thinks I'm crazy. I'm just Two years ago he
- 6:20Speaker 4: released a jazz song.
- 6:22Speaker 3: It was his song.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Because he's not a writer. He created. He created a
- 6:26Speaker 4: jazz album, and one of the songs he could have
- 6:29Speaker 4: picked anyone it was I'll remember April Now.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I wrote a.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Book about him a few years before, so I wrote,
- 6:40Speaker 4: he sang and I think that kind.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Of book about him?
- 6:44Speaker 4: All about him, yes, all about well, it was about
- 6:47Speaker 4: my experience with him. I was from a traumatic childhood,
- 6:52Speaker 4: like most of the people in the world, and when
- 6:56Speaker 4: you are from trauma, you find something to make life
- 7:00Speaker 4: feel safe. Some people, they also have different viewpoints on life,
- 7:06Speaker 4: but they will find something that will make them feel secure.
- 7:10Speaker 4: So when my mom and stepfather are beating the crap
- 7:13Speaker 4: out of each other, I would run to my little
- 7:14Speaker 4: canopy bedroom and I would put on them my little
- 7:17Speaker 4: record player, Big Girls Don't Cry. And anyhow, we'll make
- 7:24Speaker 4: a long story short. My aunt won tickets to a
- 7:27Speaker 4: concert of his. I got to see him, and after that,
- 7:35Speaker 4: him and I just had a connection and I would
- 7:37Speaker 4: go to see him, would pick me up off the stage.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I would get a.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Little velvet suit like him, a banner that said Frankie
- 7:43Speaker 4: a little hat. And I also believe in reincarnation. I
- 7:47Speaker 4: also believe that we plan our lives. I also believe
- 7:50Speaker 4: that there's no mistakes, there's a synchronicity. I think there
- 7:53Speaker 4: was something between Frankie and I from past lives. I
- 7:56Speaker 4: don't believe we were ever to be together in this life,
- 8:00Speaker 4: but we had a relationship on and off for years
- 8:06Speaker 4: and years and years and years and years.
- 8:08Speaker 3: After this concert, after his concert, Like, how old were
- 8:11Speaker 3: you then? I probably well, I.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Mean I fell in love with him at six because
- 8:15Speaker 4: I painted Ken's head black.
- 8:20Speaker 3: He had black hair because he was Frankie. No.
- 8:23Speaker 4: But you know, I started to sleep with him when
- 8:26Speaker 4: I was sixteen, so and he was the same age
- 8:29Speaker 4: as my mother. But when somebody, when you're in trauma,
- 8:34Speaker 4: and somebody becomes your safe place. Even still now, if
- 8:39Speaker 4: you are abused by somebody, and I'm a therapist, the
- 8:44Speaker 4: child will still want to be with who they were
- 8:46Speaker 4: abused by because that's their parent. Also, there's two rules
- 8:51Speaker 4: of thumb. When you're abused, you either have the idea
- 8:54Speaker 4: that the world is an unsafe place or that you
- 8:57Speaker 4: are not good enough.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Between all of that, it's a mess. It's a mess.
- 9:02Speaker 3: But there was.
- 9:03Speaker 4: But that being said, there was something between him and
- 9:06Speaker 4: I that was very odd. I don't I'm not from
- 9:11Speaker 4: New York, I'm not from New Jersey. I'm not a
- 9:13Speaker 4: Jersey girl. I'm not an LA girl. My family's doesn't
- 9:16Speaker 4: in the music business, and from Ohio on a farm,
- 9:20Speaker 4: and we met and it just happened. So it wasn't
- 9:24Speaker 4: on and off again. Now this was before there were
- 9:27Speaker 4: computers and there was no Google. You couldn't find out
- 9:30Speaker 4: who was married or where they were or anything. So
- 9:33Speaker 4: it just it just naturally organically evolved. And I you know,
- 9:40Speaker 4: he's my first love and also a lot of the
- 9:43Speaker 4: things that I am today I owe to him because
- 9:45Speaker 4: he was like a father image to me. Always go
- 9:48Speaker 4: to college, don't sleep around, stand tall, be beautiful, keep
- 9:53Speaker 4: yourself up, be a lady. And no matter what he
- 9:56Speaker 4: did with me when he was around me, and maybe
- 10:00Speaker 4: he did other things like drug sex, rock and roll,
- 10:03Speaker 4: never around me.
- 10:06Speaker 3: So it is a.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Very very interesting relationship, and I have no regrets.
- 10:12Speaker 3: He's part of my story. How did you feel about
- 10:15Speaker 3: the book coming out? He was furious.
- 10:17Speaker 4: He still hates me for that, and I I will apologize.
- 10:24Speaker 4: I would really like to speak with him, and I will.
- 10:27Speaker 4: I will say it right here. I April, your little April.
- 10:33Speaker 4: I'm very, very sorry that I ever published our private life.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I did it at a.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Time when I was young and immature, and I wanted
- 10:44Speaker 4: his attention, and I did it the wrong way and
- 10:47Speaker 4: I should have never put that out, and that really
- 10:51Speaker 4: ruined our relationship.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I don't think he ever spoke to me after that.
- 10:54Speaker 2: And when was that.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Years and years ago on other clu with other fairies,
- 11:02Speaker 4: when I was young and flitting around.
- 11:07Speaker 2: April, we just have to go get to your Michael
- 11:09Speaker 2: Keaton now.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Oh I love Michael ket Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Now he would make me forget Frankie Valley's name, okay,
- 11:18Speaker 4: or someone similar.
- 11:20Speaker 3: I would like to move out to La too.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I would move for someone I fell in love with,
- 11:26Speaker 4: because love is so hard.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I think it does too. Yeah, I really like it.
- 11:32Speaker 4: I love the people here. I love all of you.
- 11:35Speaker 4: When I land here, I feel at home.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel that I get that I just feel.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Like I'm in my groove and I love all of you.
- 11:43Speaker 4: I mean I get sad when I leave.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I really do I understand this.
- 11:47Speaker 2: He really found like a place of belonging in the Bachelor.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean I never even watched The Bachelor.
- 11:56Speaker 4: I didn't even know what Bachelor nation was. When they
- 11:58Speaker 4: kept saying, say Bachelor, I'm like, what the hell am
- 12:02Speaker 4: I saying?
- 12:03Speaker 3: What is this specilor nation? Is it a nation?
- 12:07Speaker 5: You know?
- 12:08Speaker 3: Like, sometimes I'm really smart, but sometimes I have no
- 12:10Speaker 3: common sense.
- 12:12Speaker 2: You're a therapist.
- 12:13Speaker 4: But I find that endearing about me because that then
- 12:17Speaker 4: men know I actually need them to survive.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Okay, wait, so you're a therapist. I want you to
- 12:24Speaker 2: do something for fun. Okay, can you therapies for therapy?
- 12:28Speaker 3: Yeah? I don't think that I'm sort of.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Teresa and Gary's relationship why they're together.
- 12:37Speaker 4: I think that everybody has a type. I think that
- 12:42Speaker 4: in our mind it is like a little basket of
- 12:45Speaker 4: what like I do I have a little check off.
- 12:48Speaker 4: I think Gary had a check off, and I think
- 12:52Speaker 4: Teresa hit most of those buttons. I also think Gary,
- 12:58Speaker 4: at his age it's an easier life, wants someone who
- 13:02Speaker 4: is going to be maybe quiet, maybe a subservient maybe.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Now.
- 13:10Speaker 4: I think there are women that would have done that
- 13:12Speaker 4: for him had he put himself out more. But he
- 13:18Speaker 4: found someone who did that for him right away. Remember
- 13:22Speaker 4: this whole bachelor thing is not an organic situation. Everybody
- 13:26Speaker 4: is coming nervous, they're playing a game.
- 13:29Speaker 3: It's it's very awkward.
- 13:31Speaker 4: But I think there probably are women out there that
- 13:35Speaker 4: don't aren't like Teresa. But I think Teresa hit every button,
- 13:39Speaker 4: and I think it works for them. She's a little
- 13:42Speaker 4: passive and you could tell she adores him, like, you know,
- 13:45Speaker 4: she looks in his eyes like, oh.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Gary, I'll make dinner for you every night. Oh I
- 13:51Speaker 3: can't buy that.
- 13:52Speaker 6: That's okay, I don't need anything I have you. You know,
- 13:58Speaker 6: you want to play pickleball the rest of your okay,
- 14:01Speaker 6: you know, and and and that's great. And also I
- 14:04Speaker 6: think he's a different generation. I, on the other hand,
- 14:08Speaker 6: I'm not from that generation.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Mentally, are you not?
- 14:15Speaker 2: I was looking it's the age difference, not much.
- 14:16Speaker 3: No no no no no no no no no no. VERI
- 14:19Speaker 3: is our ageless. Actually, we we live much longer. Don't
- 14:23Speaker 3: kid yourself. Okay, you will know us when you see us,
- 14:28Speaker 3: you are what the character. We are so appreciated being here.
- 14:33Speaker 4: This is why I had a radio show that was
- 14:35Speaker 4: very successful.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I'm not surprised. Until next time, guys, I've been Ashley.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Bye bye.
