- 0:01Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Gavin Williams, another tremendous outing. He goes seven innings today,
- 0:16Speaker 2: made 94 pitches, gave up one run, only three hits,
- 0:21Speaker 2: struck out four, walked two, hit a batter. He got
- 0:24Speaker 2: better as the game went on, retired the last 19
- 0:28Speaker 2: men he faced. Tim Herron to Jacob Young. First pitch wide.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Ball one. Hunter Gattis warming in the Cleveland pen. The left-hander.
- 0:42Speaker 3: He's ready. And the 1-0 pitch. In there. Tim Herron.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Appearance number 23.
- 0:48Speaker 4: 2-12 ERA.
- 0:49Speaker 3: 13 strikeouts. 12 walks in 17 innings.
- 0:53Speaker 5: The pitch.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Swung on, this is hit high in the air.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Medium deep left toward the line to run it down
- 1:05Speaker 2: Angel Martinez. And to bring up the leadoff man, James Wood,
- 1:10Speaker 2: left on left. Walk, double, and then Angel Martinez robbed
- 1:17Speaker 2: him of an extra base hit in left field his
- 1:20Speaker 2: last time.
- 1:21Speaker 3: James Wood, this series.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Eight, four, 11. Now the pitch down and away, ball one.
- 1:38Speaker 2: He is some kind of impressive.
- 1:44Speaker 3: 972 OPS. The pitch, waved out through that slider right
- 1:51Speaker 3: by him. One ball, one strike.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Well, the Guardians and PNC Bank go to bat for
- 1:56Speaker 2: small business. PNC Bank honors six local businesses.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Making a difference. That pitch painted the outer edge. One ball,
- 2:05Speaker 3: two strikes.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Gavin Williams in line to win his American League leading
- 2:12Speaker 2: eighth game at Cleveland's. Bullpen does its usual stellar job.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Pitch down and away. Two and two. Cleveland overall in
- 2:26Speaker 2: Major League Baseball. Seventh out of 30 teams an earned
- 2:31Speaker 2: run average. The 2-2. Swing and a foul to the
- 2:36Speaker 2: upper deck behind the plate. We'll do it again at 2-2.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Outfield shaded the other way toward left deep.
- 2:52Speaker 3: The pitch.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Strike three called. Paralyzing curveball. James Wood. Out number two,
- 3:02Speaker 2: and that'll bring up Luis Garcia. He's 0-3. Manager Steven
- 3:09Speaker 2: Vogt said this morning in his office that with tomorrow
- 3:15Speaker 2: being an off day, and now Andres Chaparro will pinch
- 3:20Speaker 2: hit for Luis Garcia, a right-handed batter. Heron's pitch, and
- 3:27Speaker 2: it's outside. voter was saying, I need to get all
- 3:32Speaker 2: my late-inning guys in the ballgame. Like Heron, like Gattis,
- 3:37Speaker 2: like Smith, the pitch, and a swing and a miss
- 3:41Speaker 2: trying to hold up one and one. If you want
- 3:45Speaker 2: to call it a silver lining, if you're going to
- 3:48Speaker 2: get beat by getting battered Monday and Tuesday night, those
- 3:52Speaker 2: back-end guys got a couple of nights off. That pitch
- 3:57Speaker 2: down low, 2-1, but with an off day tomorrow, the
- 4:01Speaker 2: old adage of a bullpen, they're either getting too much
- 4:03Speaker 2: work or not enough. There never seems to be that
- 4:05Speaker 2: happy medium, so you really would like all of them
- 4:10Speaker 2: to get into the game. Now the 2-1, swung on,
- 4:15Speaker 2: skied in the air to left, down the line, drifting foul,
- 4:19Speaker 2: out of play, and a 2-2.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Count on Chaparro.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Andres Chaparro. We saw him last night get a big
- 4:28Speaker 2: two-run hit late to Kenna. Removed all doubt.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Two down, nobody on. Cleveland up two in the eighth.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Now the 2-2.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Swing and a miss! Tried to hold up, went around.
- 4:58Speaker 2: What an ending for Tim Herron. He dominated Washington here
- 5:02Speaker 2: in the eighth, and Cleveland stays up 3-1.
- 5:05Speaker 6: Our yoga instructor challenged us to find inner peace. I
- 5:10Speaker 6: found it faster than anyone. After four seconds, I stood
- 5:13Speaker 6: up and screamed, I found Nirvana!
- 5:14Speaker 2: I win!
- 5:16Speaker 3: They asked me to leave.
- 5:17Speaker 6: I guess they don't respect winning.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Bet365 does, though.
- 5:21Speaker 6: New customers get $ 200 in bonus bets just for betting $ 10.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Namaste, losers. Bet365.
- 5:29Speaker 7: Winning is everything.

- 5:32Speaker 3: 21 plus only.
- 5:33Speaker 6: Must be physically located in Ohio.
- 5:34Speaker 9: TNC Supply.
- 5:35Speaker 3: In-app only.
- 5:36Speaker 10: Progressive No Sports brings people together. But you gotta feel
- 5:39Speaker 10: bad for people who don't even get it. Some people
- 5:41Speaker 10: will never know what it's like to see their favorite
- 5:43Speaker 10: team's hopes decided by a ping pong ball to draft
- 5:45Speaker 10: the next superstar.
- 5:47Speaker 11: Or not.
- 5:49Speaker 10: I mean, sure, it's silly for your happiness to hinge
- 5:51Speaker 10: on the success of a 20-year-old entry-level employee.
- 5:53Speaker 12: But you just can't help yourself. The stress is exhilarating.
- 5:56Speaker 10: Progressive can't bring people together like the draft, but we
- 5:59Speaker 10: can bring your home and auto insurance together with a bundle.
- 6:01Speaker 10: So switch and see if you could save hundreds. Progressive
- 6:03Speaker 10: Casualty Insurance Company affiliates and other insurers not available in
- 6:05Speaker 10: all states or situations.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Swung on, there's a high fly ball. Launched to right field.
- 6:11Speaker 3: A run, Jose Ramirez.
- 6:14Speaker 2: This is Jim Rosenhouse, and you are listening to the
- 6:18Speaker 2: Cleveland Clinic Guardians Radio Network.
- 6:22Speaker 13: Ford is here for those who build America.
- 6:27Speaker 14: Those who believe that giving everything we've got today will
- 6:30Speaker 14: pay off tomorrow.
- 6:32Speaker 13: Who will drive America forward for 250 years to come.
- 6:37Speaker 13: If that's who you are, you value what we value.
- 6:41Speaker 13: Now offering employee pricing. American value for American values. Go
- 6:47Speaker 13: to Ford.com or your local Ford dealer for more information.
- 6:52Speaker 8: News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Another Minneapolis native, Gus Varlin. Yeah, that's right.
- 7:07Speaker 2: He's Louie Varlin's brother. He's got a good fastball and
- 7:13Speaker 2: a good slider. Louie Varlin, whom the Twins traded to Toronto.
- 7:18Speaker 2: This is his bro.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Literally.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Gus Varlin, his brother. They both pitched at Concordia University.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Right-hander to Stephen Kwan down low.
- 7:29Speaker 11: Ball one.
- 7:30Speaker 3: It's a 3-1 ball game. Cleveland.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Has the lead in the eighth inning. Stephen Kwan is
- 7:37Speaker 2: one for three with a single.
- 7:40Speaker 3: The pitch.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Backed him off to play 2-0. Varlin, a. 398 ERA,
- 7:47Speaker 2: 22nd appearance. He also has four saves. Pretty much everybody
- 7:52Speaker 2: in that bullpen gets used at some point to save
- 7:55Speaker 2: a game.
- 7:57Speaker 3: The pitch.
- 7:58Speaker 2: And it's ripped foul down the right side. And a
- 8:03Speaker 2: 2-1 count. So far today, Stephen Kwan, one for three
- 8:09Speaker 2: with a single. But the two outs were both line
- 8:13Speaker 2: drive outs. Now the 2-1 delivery. Inside corner strike, 2-2.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Gus Farland. He's ready. Here it comes. And it's swung on.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Golfed in the air to medium deep center at best.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Young retires. Kwon one down. Cade Smith in the ninth
- 8:46Speaker 2: inning is going to face 3-4-5 in Lakeview Terra's lineup.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Austin Hedges 0-3. Done a great job behind the plate again.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Gavin Williams seven dominant innings. And then Tim Herron Might
- 9:04Speaker 2: be the best we've seen him throw this year, working
- 9:06Speaker 2: the eighth. Austin Hedges takes in tight, snapping his head
- 9:12Speaker 2: out of there. Ball one.
- 9:13Speaker 9: 19,559, 19,559.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Righty, righty encounter. Varlin's ready. Here it comes. A swing
- 9:27Speaker 2: and a line drive to left, but it hung up.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Reaching up to snag it is Lyle. Boy, Hedges is
- 9:33Speaker 2: a completely different hitter this year than in past seasons
- 9:38Speaker 2: here in Cleveland. Here's Brian Rocchio. 1-4-3 with a double.
- 9:44Speaker 2: He'll bat left-handed. Two down in the eighth with Cleveland
- 9:48Speaker 2: on top, 3-1.
- 9:48Speaker 3: 19,559 on this.
- 9:49Speaker 8: Pleasant Wednesday afternoon.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Here off the lakefront. That pitch in there. Strike on one.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Now the 0-1 delivery. Down in the dirt.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Ball one, strike one. Boston.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Coming to town this weekend, they interplayed at a 22-31.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Last in the East, they've lost four in a row.
- 10:28Speaker 3: They've had an awful year. The 1-1.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Swung on, socked high in the air. Fairly deep center,
- 10:36Speaker 2: but playable for Young. And Cleveland goes in order. Boy,
- 10:41Speaker 2: the Red Sox, they fired their manager, Alex Cora. You
- 10:44Speaker 2: wonder how much longer Craig Breslow has as the head
- 10:47Speaker 2: of the baseball operations because... The Red Sox ownership, they
- 10:53Speaker 2: fired their president of baseball ops probably more often than
- 10:58Speaker 2: people change socks. So you win a World Series, it
- 11:02Speaker 2: means your days are numbered in Boston. And boy, they
- 11:05Speaker 2: haven't gone through a year like this in a while.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Interesting to talk to their folks this weekend. In the meantime,
- 11:12Speaker 2: Kay Smith will try to continue his domination. 3-1 Cleveland,
- 11:16Speaker 2: ninth inning next.
- 11:20Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN, Youngstown.
- 11:28Speaker 2: First pitch strike from closer Cade Smith to Curtis Mead.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Ninth inning, 3-1 Cleveland. Righty-righty encounter. The pitch.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Fouled upstairs, 0-2. Mid-to-upper 90s. Fastball for Cade Smith. Slider split.
- 11:44Speaker 2: He has not had a blown save since mid-April. Since
- 11:48Speaker 2: that time... Cade Smith fires. Check swing foul to the right.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Still 0-2. 15 consecutive saves for Cade Smith since mid-April.
- 12:01Speaker 2: His earned run average since mid-April, 1.08.
- 12:07Speaker 3: The pitch. Outside by a whisker. 1-2. Cade Smith since
- 12:15Speaker 3: mid-April has given up two earned runs. The pitch. Inside
- 12:22Speaker 3: almost hit him. Somehow he skipped out of the way.
- 12:25Speaker 2: The other thing about the 15 straight saves.
- 12:32Speaker 3: 26 strikeouts. Two walks in that stretch. The pitch. Swing
- 12:38Speaker 3: and a liner. Left field. Base hit. Now the tying
- 12:41Speaker 3: run to the plate in C.J. Abrams.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Kane Smith leads Major League Baseball, 18 saves, 20 save opportunities.
- 12:51Speaker 2: 2-0 on the year, ERA 245. On the year, 37 strikeouts,
- 12:59Speaker 2: 5 walks in 25 innings. Abrams, 1 for 2, an
- 13:05Speaker 2: RBI double. The pitch, and it's down and in, splitter.
- 13:11Speaker 2: This is the most dangerous hitter Right now in the
- 13:15Speaker 2: ninth inning for Kate Smith. 12 homers, 47 RBI campaign.
- 13:22Speaker 2: He checks, takes outside. Again, borderline. And they count 2-0.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Smith doesn't waste any time. Here it comes. And a
- 13:36Speaker 2: swing and a chopper by the diving man. Sardo into right,
- 13:40Speaker 2: base hit. Motoring to third is Meade. And we haven't
- 13:44Speaker 2: seen this in a while. Nationals at the corners. Nobody
- 13:49Speaker 2: out against Kate Smith in the ninth.
- 13:52Speaker 3: 3-1 Cleveland.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Here's Dale and Lyle 0-3. See your Northern Ohio Toyota dealers.
- 14:03Speaker 2: The new Toyota Tacoma. More powerfully efficient. I-Force Max hybrid engine. Toyota,
- 14:10Speaker 2: let's go places. Down the set. Now the pitch. Outside,
- 14:16Speaker 2: ball one. Infield. Double play depth up the middle. Manzardo
- 14:24Speaker 2: holds the runner at third. Near the cut of the
- 14:27Speaker 2: grass at third is Schneeman. The next delivery. Fouled off
- 14:32Speaker 2: to the left. One ball, one strike. Kate Smith, last
- 14:37Speaker 2: pitch this weekend in Philly. Three days ago. 3-1 Cleveland,
- 14:48Speaker 2: but runners at the corners. Nobody out in the Washington 9th.
- 14:52Speaker 3: The pitch.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Checked on a split down and in. He didn't go.
- 14:56Speaker 2: And they count 2-1. Washington trying to sweep Cleveland, but
- 15:03Speaker 2: they'd have to have a stunning rally here in the
- 15:05Speaker 2: 9th for that to happen. The 2-1 pitch. Swung on,
- 15:11Speaker 2: hit in the air, medium deep left. This will get
- 15:13Speaker 2: a run home. Martinez will catch and throw to second.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Meade will tag and score. Abrams will stay at first.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Lyle with his 27th RBI on the sack fly. And
- 15:25Speaker 2: it's 3-2 Cleveland. One out, one on, ninth inning. And
- 15:31Speaker 2: now the batter will be Jose Tena. Three times a
- 15:37Speaker 2: ground out to first. Boston in town Friday night. Dollar Dogs, fireworks, tickets, CLEGuardians.com. Smith,
- 15:50Speaker 2: the pitch, runner goes, pitch outside, edges, at a second,
- 15:53Speaker 2: no chance. What a jump by Abrams. Tying run at second.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Eighth steal for Abrams. And this is when they count.
- 16:04Speaker 2: You're down a run in the ninth inning. If you're
- 16:08Speaker 2: out at second, game over. Now a base hit here
- 16:11Speaker 2: ties the game. Tenna awaits the 1-0. Here it comes.
- 16:18Speaker 2: He waves at it. 1-1 the count. Marathon's here to
- 16:23Speaker 2: keep you and your team fueled all summer long. Marathon
- 16:26Speaker 2: driven together. 3-2 Cleveland. Tying run at second.
- 16:32Speaker 11: One out.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Washington ninth. The pitch.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Down at the knees, a strike called. Tenna didn't think so,
- 16:39Speaker 2: but he didn't challenge. One ball, two strikes. The set,
- 16:52Speaker 2: the pitch. Fouled it, third base side. Washington has both
- 16:58Speaker 2: their challenges left. Cleveland has been out of challenges since
- 17:04Speaker 2: the first inning. Now the one-two delivery. Got him swinging
- 17:16Speaker 2: on a splitter. Actually foul-tipped it into the glove of Hedges.
- 17:21Speaker 2: That is out number two. What a job by Hedges.
- 17:29Speaker 2: So the last out for the Washington Nationals.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And it'll be..
- 17:39Speaker 2: Jorbeat Bibas, the left-handed hitting second baseman. Tying run at second.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Two down, ninth inning, 3-2 Cleveland. Bibas 0-2. Foul tips
- 17:54Speaker 2: at strike one. By the way, St. Louis Cardinal right-hander
- 18:04Speaker 2: Dustin May as a no-hitter through seven innings, Cardinals and Brewers.
- 18:10Speaker 3: 1-0 St. Louis.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Now the 0-1 pitch. Down and in. One ball, one strike.
- 18:24Speaker 2: 19,000 plus on their feet at the corner of Carnegie
- 18:27Speaker 2: and Ontario. The 1-1 delivery. Just a bit down and away.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Two balls and a strike. Not seeing sliders today. Obviously,
- 18:40Speaker 2: Kate Smith feels good about the fastball and the split.
- 18:50Speaker 2: He's ready. He fires. And he nicked the inside corner.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Now a challenge by Beavis. Well, you might as well.
- 18:58Speaker 2: You have two left. Can't take them back to our
- 19:03Speaker 2: nation's capital. He lost the challenge, but really no harm
- 19:09Speaker 2: in challenging. So now a 2-2 count with two outs.
- 19:13Speaker 3: 3-2 Cleveland, ninth inning. Cade Smith.
- 19:20Speaker 2: One strike away from a 16th consecutive save.
- 19:28Speaker 3: The Vancouver native is ready. Here it comes.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Strike three called.
- 19:35Speaker 15: Ball game.
- 19:37Speaker 2: He took a 99-mile-an-hour heater right down Euclid Avenue.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Cleveland salvages the finale 3-2.

- 21:57Speaker 2: that here today in a hurry. It was dominant pitching
- 22:00Speaker 2: by Gavin Williams, who got better as the game went on,
- 22:03Speaker 2: finished by retiring the last 13 consecutive Nationals. guardians had
- 22:09Speaker 2: one inning in which they had a three spot in

- 25:40Speaker 2: to Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland, where the Guardians were
- 25:44Speaker 2: winners today by a final score of 3-2 over the
- 25:47Speaker 2: Washington Nationals. Jim Rosenhouse back with you. It is Guardians wrap-up.
- 25:53Speaker 2: We'll have the highlights and manager Steven Vogt coming your
- 25:56Speaker 2: way shortly. But first, a look at the out-of-town scoreboard
- 26:00Speaker 2: and limited action highlights. This afternoon in the major leagues,
- 26:04Speaker 2: a dandy game going in Milwaukee. Dustin May of the
- 26:08Speaker 2: Cardinals had a no-hitter into the seventh, but Garrett Mitchell
- 26:12Speaker 2: broke it up with a double, and the Cardinals still
- 26:15Speaker 2: lead that game by a score of 1-0 in the
- 26:17Speaker 2: bottom half of the eighth inning. Two of the top
- 26:19Speaker 2: clubs in the National League Central having at it in
- 26:23Speaker 2: Milwaukee in a matinee. Another day game up in Toronto.
- 26:27Speaker 2: The Blue Jays lead the Marlins 2-1 at the Rogers Center.
- 26:30Speaker 2: That game in the bottom half of the seventh inning.
- 26:33Speaker 2: The Giants and Diamondbacks are underway out in San Francisco,
- 26:38Speaker 2: as are the Mariners in athletics in Sacramento. That game's
- 26:41Speaker 2: actually in the top half of the third inning. Seattle
- 26:44Speaker 2: leads it by a score of 3-0 on Rob Refsnyder's
- 26:48Speaker 2: three-run home run. Rest of the action later on or
- 26:51Speaker 2: tonight right here. The one final in Major League Baseball.
- 26:56Speaker 2: The Guardians defeated the Nationals by a final score of 3-2.
- 27:00Speaker 2: And we will have our Honda Drive-It-Home Game Summary coming
- 27:04Speaker 2: your way after this.
- 27:05Speaker 8: P.com.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Guardians a winner today here at home by a final
- 27:14Speaker 2: score of 3-2. They salvaged the finale of this three-game
- 27:18Speaker 2: series against Washington. Time for our Honda Drive-It-Home Game Summary.
- 27:23Speaker 2: And once again, Washington took a lead in this one,
- 27:26Speaker 2: but not a large lead. That's been the issue the
- 27:29Speaker 2: last couple of nights. Gavin Williams was on the mound
- 27:31Speaker 2: today for the Guardians, and in the third inning, James
- 27:35Speaker 2: Wood led off the inning with a double. What a
- 27:37Speaker 2: series he had. He finished with eight hits in the
- 27:40Speaker 2: three games, including a couple of home runs, and he
- 27:42Speaker 2: was driven in with the game's first run by C.J. Abrams,
- 27:46Speaker 2: who doubled with two outs to make it 1-0 Washington.
- 27:49Speaker 2: and it stayed that way until the bottom half of
- 27:52Speaker 2: the fifth inning. That's when the Guardians sent nine men
- 27:55Speaker 2: to the plate and scored three times to take the lead.
- 27:59Speaker 2: The inning started with Austin Hedges reaching on an error
- 28:02Speaker 2: by third baseman Curtis Meade. Then after one was out,
- 28:06Speaker 2: Travis Buzana doubled to put runners at second and third,
- 28:09Speaker 2: and Jose Ramirez tied it with a sack fly to center,
- 28:13Speaker 2: plating Austin Hedges from third and tying the game at one.
- 28:16Speaker 2: After a pitching change, Chase DeLauder stepped to the plate.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Chase DeLauder will step in. He's lined to right and
- 28:23Speaker 2: flied to center. Swung the bat well today. Will he
- 28:26Speaker 2: get something to show for it now as he swings?
- 28:28Speaker 2: Lines it to left. Sinking fast. Base hit.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Rounding third. Heading for home. Bazana.
- 28:34Speaker 2: The throw. He's in. Standing up. And the rookies come through.
- 28:40Speaker 2: DeLauder with a go-ahead RBI. Single 2-1 Cleveland. The next batter,
- 28:47Speaker 2: Kyle Manzardo, singled, and then Angel Martinez stepped in in
- 28:52Speaker 2: a key spot. Here's the pitch, and it's swung on, line,
- 28:55Speaker 2: shallow center, and it gets down for a base hit.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Scoring is DeLauder, up to second. Manzardo, RBI single for
- 29:06Speaker 2: Angel Martinez.
- 29:07Speaker 3: 3-1, Guardians.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Well, that proved to be a huge run, as the
- 29:13Speaker 2: Nationals would say, Nick Cade-Smith for a run in the
- 29:17Speaker 2: ninth inning on a sack fly from Dalen Lyle, but
- 29:20Speaker 2: it was not enough as Smith slammed the door with
- 29:24Speaker 2: a strikeout of Jose Tena, and then Jorby Bibas was
- 29:28Speaker 2: at the plate with Smith trying to end it. Cade-Smith,
- 29:32Speaker 2: one strike away from a 16th consecutive save.
- 29:38Speaker 3: The Vancouver native is ready.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Here it comes strike three called ball game he took
- 29:47Speaker 2: a 99 mile an hour heater right down euclid avenue
- 29:52Speaker 2: cleveland salvages the finale three to two So a good
- 29:58Speaker 2: finish for the Guardians as they salvage the finale of
- 30:00Speaker 2: the series. 3-2 the final score. Three runs, ten hits,
- 30:05Speaker 2: no errors. And the Guardians leave nine men on base.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Two runs, five hits, one error. Five men left for Washington.
- 30:12Speaker 2: The winning pitcher, Gavin Williams, now 8-3 with seven strong
- 30:16Speaker 2: innings of one-run, three-hit baseball. He retired the last 19
- 30:21Speaker 2: batters he faced. Tim Herron with a hold. Cade Smith
- 30:25Speaker 2: with his Major League best. 19th save. Miles Michaelis took
- 30:29Speaker 2: the loss, falling to 1-4. Time of today's game, 2 hours,
- 30:33Speaker 2: 22 minutes, and the paid crowd here at Progressive Field, 19,559.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Stay tuned.
- 30:37Speaker 2: We'll have manager Steven Vogt next.

- 32:47Speaker 2: Welcome back to Guardians Wrap-Up. Jim Rosenhouse back with you
- 32:50Speaker 2: at Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland, where the Guardians win
- 32:53Speaker 2: it today by a final score of 3-2, excelling in
- 32:57Speaker 2: a lot of areas. Let's hear about it from manager
- 32:59Speaker 2: Steven Vogt.
- 33:01Speaker 25: You make a gap in the day in how he
- 33:03Speaker 25: was able to kind of lock in after first two innings.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 33:05Speaker 26: I mean, they made him throw a ton of pitches
- 33:08Speaker 26: there early and did what he had to do and
- 33:10Speaker 26: had three quick innings there in the middle. I thought
- 33:13Speaker 26: he got sharper as the day went. I thought his
- 33:15Speaker 26: stuff got better. but we needed those quick innings and, um, he,
- 33:20Speaker 26: he was outstanding.
- 33:22Speaker 25: It's a weird thing in baseball, but when he got
- 33:24Speaker 25: those quick innings, you can't even see the guys getting
- 33:27Speaker 25: back in the dugout. How much do you think that
- 33:28Speaker 25: helped the offense kind of click?
- 33:29Speaker 9: I mean, that's everything. The longer we're out in the field,
- 33:34Speaker 9: the less energy we have when we come back in.
- 33:36Speaker 26: I mean, that's, that's baseball. You know, we joke, there's
- 33:38Speaker 26: no time of possession, but we talk about it all
- 33:40Speaker 26: the time.
- 33:41Speaker 9: Um, it's, it's big. And, uh, we've seen that in
- 33:44Speaker 9: the series, right.
- 33:45Speaker 26: And, uh, gavin was phenomenal getting us back in quickly
- 33:48Speaker 26: keep the momentum going on offense.
- 33:52Speaker 27: This is another sign of his maturity odor that that
- 33:56Speaker 27: gavin can kind of overcome some real bumpiness like that
- 34:00Speaker 27: early on and settle.
- 34:01Speaker 26: In yeah i mean gavin gavin made a bunch of
- 34:04Speaker 26: in-season adjustments last year and now he's making in-game adjustments
- 34:08Speaker 26: i mean that's the progression of a of a big
- 34:11Speaker 26: league pitcher of a big league player. You have to
- 34:13Speaker 26: be able to make in-game adjustments at bat to a
- 34:15Speaker 26: bat pitch to pitch.
- 34:17Speaker 9: Um, and we're seeing that growth from Gavin and being
- 34:19Speaker 9: able to repeat and execute.
- 34:21Speaker 3: And, uh, he was phenomenal.
- 34:23Speaker 25: Two young guys that just woke up. You've been around
- 34:25Speaker 25: baseball a long time. Neither one of them seems like
- 34:27Speaker 25: a rookie. What stands out to you about how they
- 34:29Speaker 25: carry themselves?
- 34:30Speaker 9: They're confident. Um, they know that they know they belong
- 34:33Speaker 9: in the big leagues.
- 34:34Speaker 26: You know, we talk all the time about our guys,
- 34:36Speaker 26: you know, when you get here, you're happy and you
- 34:38Speaker 26: got to figure out how to stay.
- 34:40Speaker 9: And then you, it clicks. I know I'm a big leaguer.
- 34:42Speaker 26: And from day one, both Travis and Chase, when they
- 34:45Speaker 26: walked through the door, they know they're big leaguers and
- 34:48Speaker 26: they're playing like it.
- 34:48Speaker 28: How are you going to spend your off day?
- 34:52Speaker 9: I'm going home actually.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:54Speaker 9: Fly home for a day. What do you think of
- 34:56Speaker 9: how the guys got through this stretch? Yeah. Um, 26
- 35:02Speaker 9: games in 27 days and, uh, 13 in a row again.
- 35:07Speaker 9: And to come out of it, nine and four.
- 35:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:10Speaker 9: That's pretty good. I think anybody would take that or
- 35:13Speaker 9: whatever our record was.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 35:15Speaker 26: But I just couldn't be more proud of them. I mean,
- 35:17Speaker 26: I thought they played excellent. They showed up. They were
- 35:20Speaker 26: ready to play. They didn't let two tough nights get
- 35:24Speaker 26: them down. You can't have mood swings in this game.
- 35:27Speaker 26: You've got to be consistent. And the guys were phenomenal.
- 35:29Speaker 26: They worked their backsides off, had a tough weather road trip,
- 35:34Speaker 26: get some really good teams, and we played well.
- 35:38Speaker 9: We don't see much of James Wood.
- 35:40Speaker 11: I'm just curious.
- 35:40Speaker 27: You may be happy he's not in the AL Central.
- 35:43Speaker 27: What are your general impressions of him? What stands out to.
- 35:45Speaker 11: You about him?
- 35:47Speaker 26: I think there's a lot. The number one is the
- 35:50Speaker 26: at-bat quality. He does not look fooled. He is on
- 35:53Speaker 26: every pitch. He's just so calm. I think that's really
- 35:57Speaker 26: what stands out about him. It just looks like he's
- 36:00Speaker 26: in the box. What are you going to throw? Then
- 36:04Speaker 26: it just explodes and He made a nice catch in
- 36:07Speaker 26: the outfield. He's just a really good baseball player, and
- 36:10Speaker 26: he's been good for a couple years now. This isn't new,
- 36:14Speaker 26: but it's good for the game to have guys like that,
- 36:17Speaker 26: and I'm not upset that they're getting on a flight today.
- 36:22Speaker 2: And a little bonus coverage for you on our wrap-up
- 36:24Speaker 2: show today. Also down in the media room, Chatting about
- 36:28Speaker 2: today's win, they were key in the fifth inning in
- 36:31Speaker 2: the rally that won it for the Guardians, Travis Bozzana
- 36:34Speaker 2: and Chase DeLauder, two outstanding rookies.
- 36:38Speaker 25: Chase, what impresses you about Travis' at-bats when you get
- 36:40Speaker 25: to watch him up close?
- 36:42Speaker 29: Extremely consistent. I mean, whether he's swinging it out or not,
- 36:45Speaker 29: I mean, you can't tell, right? Like, he shows up
- 36:48Speaker 29: every day, has competitive at-bats, works the box, like, doesn't
- 36:52Speaker 29: swing at balls, hits the strikes hard.
- 36:54Speaker 9: I mean, what more can you ask for? Conversely, Travis,
- 36:57Speaker 9: just whether it was maybe watching Chase playoffs last year
- 37:01Speaker 9: or early this season, like what have you been able
- 37:04Speaker 9: to take away from following what he's done up here?
- 37:07Speaker 30: Yeah, we, we got to know each other a little
- 37:09Speaker 30: better throughout the off season and in January a little bit, um,
- 37:12Speaker 30: working together.
- 37:13Speaker 9: And, uh, I mean, it's different.
- 37:16Speaker 30: He's, uh, yeah, I've seen him do some pretty incredible
- 37:21Speaker 30: things and obviously we've all seen that, but, um, yeah,
- 37:25Speaker 30: he's going to be great for a long time. And
- 37:27Speaker 30: Chase is one of the most skilled and athletic and
- 37:31Speaker 30: powerful baseball players I've ever seen.
- 37:34Speaker 25: Travis, um, I was just talking to you out there
- 37:36Speaker 25: and I didn't want to bring up missing that home run,
- 37:38Speaker 25: but you got a guy as.
- 37:40Speaker 9: Tall as James Wood.
- 37:41Speaker 25: Like it didn't even look like he jumped, but did
- 37:42Speaker 25: you think you got, got it enough to get it
- 37:44Speaker 25: out of here?
- 37:45Speaker 8: I flushed it.
- 37:46Speaker 30: I hit, looking back, I hit a little higher than
- 37:49Speaker 30: I would have liked to optimize it, you know, but, um, Yeah, he, like,
- 37:57Speaker 30: I mean, wingspan and, yeah, made a really great play.
- 38:01Speaker 8: So he's an.
- 38:03Speaker 9: Extremely good player.
- 38:03Speaker 30: And the kind of control of his at-bats and defense
- 38:09Speaker 30: with the size and power is quite impressive.
- 38:13Speaker 31: Chase, were you sitting slider when they brought Lovelady in there?
- 38:17Speaker 9: Not necessarily.
- 38:18Speaker 29: I mean, just like I've been getting in deep counts quick,
- 38:22Speaker 29: you know, unintentionally. So just trying to get something out
- 38:25Speaker 29: of the plate early and, you know, just, just get
- 38:27Speaker 29: it out there. And, uh, you know, thankfully I found some,
- 38:29Speaker 29: found some green.
- 38:30Speaker 3: You had a couple of holes this, this series, just,
- 38:33Speaker 3: you know, pin them on the does, but hadn't had.
- 38:34Speaker 32: A lot to show for it was nice to hear.
- 38:35Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 38:36Speaker 9: Absolutely.
- 38:37Speaker 7: Okay.
- 38:39Speaker 31: What's, what allowed you to kind of carry the same
- 38:41Speaker 31: approach to the leadoff spot and get some results?
- 38:45Speaker 7: Nothing.
- 38:45Speaker 9: Just trying to stick with a good process. I'll kind
- 38:49Speaker 9: of hop on it.
- 38:50Speaker 30: Hopefully all year long is that, I swing at good pitches.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I'm on time.
- 38:55Speaker 30: My preparation for the game is good. The hits, the x-rays, hits,
- 39:00Speaker 30: the walks, those things will come. There might be some waves,
- 39:03Speaker 30: but I've just been on the process and I'm comfortable
- 39:06Speaker 30: leading off.
- 39:07Speaker 9: Travis, you kind of got things going in that fifth inning.
- 39:09Speaker 32: How did you like the way that everyone kind of
- 39:11Speaker 32: followed suit and kept things going to get that advantage going?
- 39:14Speaker 30: Yeah, there was actually a really good energy in the
- 39:16Speaker 30: dugout kind of right before that offensive inning.
- 39:19Speaker 8: The staff was up.
- 39:21Speaker 30: The players, like, like we picked up our energy and
- 39:25Speaker 30: so to to get it rolling then um put together
- 39:29Speaker 30: what we might have put together seven all right good
- 39:31Speaker 30: at bats in a row or something that inning so
- 39:34Speaker 30: that's what it's all about we just gotta find a
- 39:36Speaker 30: way to do that as often as possible um and
- 39:39Speaker 30: convert when we got runners in scoring.
- 39:40Speaker 31: Position you do something or say something to bring that
- 39:43Speaker 31: energy up it's just.
- 39:44Speaker 30: Like you get a zero like i think gab got
- 39:47Speaker 30: a quick zero there And that is, like, as much as, yeah,
- 39:52Speaker 30: the momentum shift, you could kind of feel it. It
- 39:55Speaker 30: might have been a six-pitch, I'm guessing, inning, something like that.
- 39:59Speaker 30: And everyone ran in, and it's like, hey, now we go. Like,
- 40:01Speaker 30: that was our cue. Obviously, you want to do it
- 40:04Speaker 30: every inning, but, like, you could feel it, and we
- 40:07Speaker 30: took advantage of that.
- 40:08Speaker 31: I think I've got the one running across, too, but
- 40:11Speaker 31: what's it like playing behind Cade Smith right now?
- 40:13Speaker 9: And he's been blocked out.
- 40:14Speaker 19: Yeah, man.
- 40:16Speaker 29: Feels automatic, right? Like, you know, of course we, we
- 40:19Speaker 29: trust our defense to have his back and, you know,
- 40:21Speaker 29: but man, just, you know, watch, I've seen him from
- 40:23Speaker 29: the dugout, seen him from the field. It's, I mean,
- 40:26Speaker 29: that stuff is tough to hit, you know, whether you're,
- 40:28Speaker 29: you're hot or not. I mean, you know, he's got
- 40:30Speaker 29: electric stuff and, you know, that's something you come into
- 40:33Speaker 29: the ninth and you, you feel pretty good about.
- 40:36Speaker 31: Chase, Travis mentioned that process at the plate when you
- 40:39Speaker 31: were hitting the ball in the nose and the results
- 40:40Speaker 31: aren't coming. Just what is that like For you as
- 40:42Speaker 31: a young player, continue to work through it when you
- 40:45Speaker 31: need to stick to it, and the results are going
- 40:48Speaker 31: to come.
- 40:49Speaker 29: That's it right there. It's definitely frustrating. Anyone who says
- 40:53Speaker 29: it's not is lying. I think the big one there
- 40:57Speaker 29: is not to go chasing and find it. That's something
- 41:00Speaker 29: I've fallen into a little bit. Just show up in
- 41:03Speaker 29: the box every day, same approach, prepare the same way,
- 41:06Speaker 29: and good things can happen.
- 41:09Speaker 2: So there you go, a nice win for the Guardians
- 41:11Speaker 2: to wrap up the series. The homestand continues on Friday night,
- 41:15Speaker 2: but this series complete and a stretch of 13 straight
- 41:19Speaker 2: games and 13 days for the Guardians comes to an
- 41:22Speaker 2: end with a welcome off day tomorrow, and the Guardians
- 41:24Speaker 2: will head into the off day 33-25 on the season
- 41:29Speaker 2: and at the very least maintain a three-and-a-half game advantage
- 41:32Speaker 2: over the Chicago White Sox in the American League's Central Division.
- 41:37Speaker 2: The Nationals head home. As they complete a stretch of
- 41:39Speaker 2: 16 straight games, they are 29-28 on the year and
- 41:44Speaker 2: remain in second place in the National League East. Day
- 41:49Speaker 2: off tomorrow for the Guardians. They welcome the Red Sox
- 41:52Speaker 2: to town on Friday night. A 7-10 start with Slade
- 41:56Speaker 2: Ciccone on the mound for Cleveland. We'll have it for
- 41:59Speaker 2: you starting with the warm-up show at 635.
- 42:01Speaker 7: Until then..
- 42:03Speaker 2: For Brian Motze at Command Center, and of course, Tom Hamilton,
- 42:07Speaker 2: this is Jim Rosenhouse reminding you the final score from
- 42:10Speaker 2: Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland, the Cleveland Guardians 3, the
- 42:15Speaker 2: Washington Nationals 2. Have a great night, everyone.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Well, Heidi Ho, 4 o'clock, NewsRadio 570, WDQE on Youngstown, Ohio.
- 42:24Speaker 3: And we're on verb on this Wednesday, May 27th, almost
- 42:27Speaker 3: see into May already, boys and girls. We are sitting
- 42:30Speaker 3: with 78 degrees, and we'll be with you right up
- 42:32Speaker 3: until 7 o'clock this afternoon. So keep that in mind.
- 42:36Speaker 3: And Guardians with an afternoon game and a victory today.
- 42:39Speaker 3: That is the good news, 330-729-9977. We'll get you on
- 42:44Speaker 3: board between now and 7 o'clock tonight, 330-729-9977. We'll get
- 42:50Speaker 3: you with us on NewsRadio 570 WKN. So keep all
- 42:53Speaker 3: of that in mind as we go along here today.
- 42:58Speaker 3: So what's on your minds? You want to run it
- 43:00Speaker 3: up the flagpole, see if anybody salutes? We'd be more
- 43:02Speaker 3: than happy to hear what you have to say about that.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Election board told rent is less at bottom dollar building,
- 43:09Speaker 3: or so they say. I don't quite get this whole
- 43:11Speaker 3: process on why we're even talking rent as opposed to ownership.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Very interesting article in today's Vindicator from Skolnick, who writes
- 43:24Speaker 3: this article. And I'll get into all of this as
- 43:28Speaker 3: the program goes on, so stay tuned for that. Let's see,
- 43:31Speaker 3: what else do I have for you? This is what is...
- 43:36Speaker 3: Really frustrating to me. It was a front page of
- 43:39Speaker 3: the Trib over the weekend. A data center tax break
- 43:43Speaker 3: carries hefty price. Just listen to this, all right? This
- 43:47Speaker 3: is one of those things I want to just start
- 43:49Speaker 3: by bringing this to your attention, all right? And listen
- 43:52Speaker 3: to this article from the Trib. Ohio's biggest tax break
- 43:55Speaker 3: for data centers. It's more expensive than one's thoughts. A
- 44:00Speaker 3: lot more expensive. Now, this is my problem with DeWine
- 44:04Speaker 3: and what is taking place here. And I want you
- 44:07Speaker 3: all to make note of this and remember this. In 2024,
- 44:11Speaker 3: the state sales tax exemption for data centers cost Ohio
- 44:15Speaker 3: about $ 555 million in revenue. four times more than the
- 44:25Speaker 3: State Department of Taxation forecasted. So can you tell me why,
- 44:29Speaker 3: under God's green earth, would we give any type of
- 44:32Speaker 3: tax breaks to these data centers? In 2025, it cost
- 44:36Speaker 3: a whopping $ 1. 6 billion. So in 2024, data centers got
- 44:41Speaker 3: a sales tax exemption and the states lost $ 555 million.
- 44:44Speaker 3: In 2025... It cost $ 1. 6 billion, 11 times more than
- 44:53Speaker 3: the original estimate of $ 136 million. And that's to say
- 44:58Speaker 3: nothing about the local sales taxes. Another $ 166. 8 million is
- 45:04Speaker 3: lost revenue in 2024. So the local community loses revenue.
- 45:10Speaker 3: The state loses revenue. Why do these data centers have
- 45:15Speaker 3: a sales tax exemption? The tax department's forecast of the
- 45:19Speaker 3: size of the controversial tax exemption shared with the public
- 45:22Speaker 3: amount to jarring low balls of the actual figure, even
- 45:26Speaker 3: when accounting for the imprecise nature of budget forecasting and
- 45:30Speaker 3: a massive savings realized as the exemption to Ohio's 5.75%
- 45:34Speaker 3: statewide sales tax. So listen to this. This is all
- 45:37Speaker 3: I want you to know as a resident of Ohio.
- 45:40Speaker 3: So these data centers don't pay sales tax on the
- 45:43Speaker 3: materials that they buy to build it. But if you
- 45:47Speaker 3: go buy any materials to add onto your garage, you,
- 45:50Speaker 3: Joe Bagadonis, have to pay sales tax on it. But
- 45:55Speaker 3: these data centers do not. And a massive savings realized
- 46:01Speaker 3: as an exemption to Ohio's statewide sales tax, 5.75%, flowed
- 46:06Speaker 3: to some of the biggest companies on the planet, like Meta, Facebook, Alphabets,
- 46:11Speaker 3: which is Google, and Amazon, all of which is recently
- 46:14Speaker 3: built or building arena-sized data center warehouses here. In 2024,
- 46:20Speaker 3: the sales tax exemption cost Ohio $ 554. 9 million. One year later,
- 46:27Speaker 3: that snowballed to $ 1. 5 billion. Can you imagine this? I mean,
- 46:40Speaker 3: why do they even have this? Why is this even done?
- 46:45Speaker 3: Who approved this? A DeWine spokesperson agreed to look over
- 46:51Speaker 3: the new data from the Department of Taxation but declined
- 46:54Speaker 3: further comment. Well, why did they decline it? You know, DeWine,
- 46:57Speaker 3: why don't you explain this? How is this right and
- 47:02Speaker 3: how is this fair to any citizen of Ohio that's
- 47:06Speaker 3: paying sales tax on anything that, any service or anything
- 47:10Speaker 3: that they buy? House Speaker Matt Huffman, a Republican, has
- 47:15Speaker 3: said he would like to muster the three-fifths vote required
- 47:19Speaker 3: to override DeWine's veto, but has indicated he lacks the
- 47:24Speaker 3: political support. So let me get this straight. Ohio's two-year
- 47:31Speaker 3: operating budget and in the most recent budget legislation, lawmakers
- 47:35Speaker 3: voted to end the data center tax breaks to help
- 47:39Speaker 3: finance another round of income tax cuts. Governor Mike DeWine
- 47:44Speaker 3: vetoed the proposal saying, insisting that tax exemption is needed
- 47:49Speaker 3: to lure data center developers to the state. This is bullcrap.
- 47:57Speaker 3: This is absolute bullcrap. This is absolute bullcrap by Mike DeWine.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Just ridiculous. So this should be overridden. Republican lawmakers established
- 48:25Speaker 3: a tax exemption in the early 2010s to lure technology
- 48:30Speaker 3: companies to Ohio. The error predates the modern hyperscale and
- 48:37Speaker 3: electric intensive data centers. So why wouldn't you change that?
- 48:44Speaker 3: For facilities that cost $ 100 million or more to build,
- 48:47Speaker 3: the exemption allows developers to waive up to 100% of
- 48:51Speaker 3: Ohio's 5.75% sales tax for up to 15 years. And
- 48:57Speaker 3: it can apply capital-intensive private natural gas plants some developers
- 49:01Speaker 3: are building to fuel their operations. Use of the exemption
- 49:04Speaker 3: started in 2016 at a modest $ 4. 4 million scope. I'm
- 49:11Speaker 3: telling you, this craps on every citizen in the state
- 49:14Speaker 3: of Ohio and every property tax owner as well. Ohio
- 49:22Speaker 3: Chamber of Commerce estimates data centers have received $ 2. 5 billion
- 49:26Speaker 3: in public subsidies, including local property tax abatements. between 2017
- 49:33Speaker 3: and 2024. The same report states they've contributed $ 3. 7 billion
- 49:39Speaker 3: towards Ohio's GDP if you include direct and indirect inputs.
- 49:44Speaker 3: While lawmakers haven't, over in DeWine's veto of the data
- 49:48Speaker 3: center tax break, they have responded to the political pressure
- 49:51Speaker 3: in part by forming a special legislative committee broadly focused
- 49:55Speaker 3: on data centers. Representative Adam Holmes of Muskingum County Republican
- 50:00Speaker 3: and chair of the committee said he didn't have any
- 50:02Speaker 3: immediate knowledge on how or why the Ohio Department of
- 50:05Speaker 3: Taxation numbers were so far off. Kent Smith, he's a
- 50:11Speaker 3: senator on a Cowboy County Democrat, said the new figures
- 50:14Speaker 3: from the tax department means the data center tax exemption
- 50:17Speaker 3: is one of the most lucrative in the state. Why
- 50:23Speaker 3: are they getting any? You can't get a property tax break.
- 50:29Speaker 3: You can't get a property tax break. And data centers
- 50:35Speaker 3: and DeWine, this is insanity. You're on the air.
- 50:41Speaker 19: Oh, put your belly aching. I think that we should be...
- 50:44Speaker 19: We should have to pay for them, Ron. We should
- 50:46Speaker 19: dig deep in our pockets. I think I have some
- 50:49Speaker 19: change rolling around in my pockets. I think we should
- 50:50Speaker 19: give it to the data centers because they're in such need.
- 50:53Speaker 19: That is interesting because that's what I was going to
- 50:56Speaker 19: call you about today. That, you know, it's interesting that
- 51:01Speaker 19: they get... It's... It's mind-boggling. It actually is mind-boggling that
- 51:08Speaker 19: they're going to get those breaks. And then he says
- 51:10Speaker 19: he uses it as excuses that, well, we need to
- 51:12Speaker 19: draw the business into our state. We're losing money.
- 51:17Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. I'll say it again. They need us more
- 51:21Speaker 3: than we need them. They need our weather. They need
- 51:24Speaker 3: our infrastructure as far as our transmission lines. That is
- 51:29Speaker 3: utter bullcrap. That is absolute bullcrap. And it's just, it
- 51:35Speaker 3: is absolutely wrong. The data centers get a sales break.
- 51:38Speaker 3: I go back. If you add on to your garage,
- 51:41Speaker 3: you have to pay the sales tax for all the
- 51:43Speaker 3: materials you buy. The citizen. But these data centers, and
- 51:46Speaker 3: you know how big they are, they don't pay any
- 51:49Speaker 3: sales tax on any of it. And this is my
- 51:53Speaker 3: problem with DeWine. And anyone who supports this, this should
- 51:58Speaker 3: have never happened. And they say, well, this happened back
- 52:00Speaker 3: in 2016. It should have been modified before the data
- 52:03Speaker 3: centers came around. But they've done nothing. They continue to
- 52:06Speaker 3: let this happen. At the same time, they raise your
- 52:09Speaker 3: property taxes. This is insanity. Exactly.
- 52:13Speaker 19: In 2016, as time goes on, you have to reevaluate things.
- 52:17Speaker 19: You can't just say you implement something and then, oh,
- 52:20Speaker 19: 10 years later, go, well, this is what's happening. This
- 52:23Speaker 19: is the reason why it's a trickle-down effect. I always
- 52:25Speaker 19: call it a spiderweb effect. It's like, you know, one
- 52:29Speaker 19: thing happens, and it just, you know, it's, I mean,
- 52:33Speaker 19: I'm getting more and more I think I'm walking around
- 52:41Speaker 19: in a different reality, Ron.
- 52:42Speaker 11: I really think that, you know, because everything.
- 52:45Speaker 19: Up is down, left is right, hot is cold, you know,
- 52:48Speaker 19: good is bad. It's just really, and this is just
- 52:51Speaker 19: an example of that. And it's, you know, that's the
- 52:55Speaker 19: reason why I was.
- 52:55Speaker 15: Going to call you.
- 52:56Speaker 19: That's really why we're thinking the same way, but it was,
- 52:58Speaker 19: it's offensive. And then, you know, then you feel impotent.
- 53:02Speaker 19: You feel, you know, that you can't, you know, maybe
- 53:05Speaker 19: that's an odd word, but it is. You feel that
- 53:09Speaker 19: your hands are tied or that you feel that, you know,
- 53:11Speaker 19: you're just a small person.
- 53:12Speaker 11: You can't do anything.
- 53:13Speaker 19: And it's, quite frankly, it's, you know... I'm again, you
- 53:20Speaker 19: lost the words, but you know.
- 53:22Speaker 3: You know why you're at a loss of words? Because
- 53:24Speaker 3: I don't give a damn if you're a Republican or Democrat.
- 53:27Speaker 3: As a citizen of Ohio, this is ridiculous. And this
- 53:31Speaker 3: is crapping on each and every one of you. I
- 53:33Speaker 3: don't understand DeWine at all. Remember when they put the
- 53:37Speaker 3: marijuana centers in local communities? And the local community was
- 53:41Speaker 3: to get a portion of the tax on those marijuana
- 53:46Speaker 3: centers if you put a dispensary in your community. And
- 53:50Speaker 3: right off the bat, they tried to screw the local
- 53:52Speaker 3: community out of that money that they had coming back
- 53:56Speaker 3: to the local community. And right off the bat, the
- 53:59Speaker 3: state wanted to keep all of it, which was so wrong.
- 54:02Speaker 3: And my trustees in Austintown and folks went down and
- 54:07Speaker 3: kind of fought that as well as state representatives and
- 54:10Speaker 3: everything to say, you can't change the game and say
- 54:13Speaker 3: we get to keep all the money in a local
- 54:15Speaker 3: community just to get any of it. What the hell
- 54:17Speaker 3: is up with DeWine and this stuff? This guy is
- 54:20Speaker 3: off his rocker.
- 54:23Speaker 19: All of them, and again, what you've taught me over
- 54:26Speaker 19: here recently, or you've enlightened me about, is that not
- 54:29Speaker 19: only was I always complaining about the Republicans, and it's
- 54:32Speaker 19: my side, too. It's just as guilty that the Democrats are,
- 54:36Speaker 19: just because you wear a D or an R, all
- 54:39Speaker 19: of them are just as guilty as the next one.
- 54:42Speaker 19: And it's, you know, my dad always told me, too,
- 54:47Speaker 19: sometimes a revolt or a revolution is.
- 54:50Speaker 3: A good thing.
- 54:51Speaker 19: You know, when you apply to certain things, you don't
- 54:55Speaker 19: want to be. But it's always a good thing that sometimes,
- 54:57Speaker 19: you know, you shake the boat up or rock the
- 55:01Speaker 19: boat a little bit.
- 55:02Speaker 3: It's a double standard is what it is. It is
- 55:05Speaker 3: an absolute double standard. And I will be so happy
- 55:08Speaker 3: to see DeWine go away and get away from this.
- 55:12Speaker 3: There is absolutely no reason. And this legislature, Democrats and Republicans,
- 55:18Speaker 3: all should vote to override and end this immediately. And
- 55:22Speaker 3: cancel it. Totally cancel it. There shouldn't be any grandfathering
- 55:26Speaker 3: in on this at all. This is absolutely pissing on
- 55:30Speaker 3: every citizen in the state of Ohio to say you
- 55:33Speaker 3: as an individual pay this sales tax and so these
- 55:37Speaker 3: data centers do not. And I don't care if it's
- 55:39Speaker 3: Republicans or Democrats. This is flat out wrong.
- 55:43Speaker 19: They get enough tax breaks. All those major companies get
- 55:47Speaker 19: tax breaks. They don't need enough. Listen, I want you
- 55:49Speaker 19: to take on some other calls.
- 55:50Speaker 3: It was a late day.
- 55:51Speaker 19: Listen, Pete, listen, thanks for, you know, stopping your feet there,
- 55:54Speaker 19: my friend.
- 55:55Speaker 3: Thank you. It's J.J. the liberal. You're on the air.
- 55:59Speaker 5: Well.
- 56:00Speaker 11: I couldn't believe it.
- 56:03Speaker 3: It's Dick from Dayton. You couldn't believe what? The Cavaliers
- 56:08Speaker 3: got humiliated. Humiliated. I mean, it was painful for me.
- 56:13Speaker 3: They lost like by 40 points, but I'm going to
- 56:15Speaker 3: tell you something. That New York team was excellent. I mean, boy,
- 56:19Speaker 3: they were just, it was like a whole different league
- 56:23Speaker 3: as far as their abilities and shooting. I mean, hey,
- 56:27Speaker 3: glad the Cavs made it as far as they did. But, boy,
- 56:30Speaker 3: did they get an ass whooping.
- 56:32Speaker 33: Were you surprised they kept that coach?
- 56:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that's all right with me. I mean, I'm not
- 56:37Speaker 3: one that says, oh, you've got to get rid of
- 56:38Speaker 3: the coach after that. I mean, this idea that you
- 56:42Speaker 3: fire the coach, I'm not for that. They were just outplayed.
- 56:47Speaker 3: How do I put this? It was a better team.
- 56:50Speaker 3: I don't care who was coaching the Cavs. They would
- 56:52Speaker 3: have lost. It was just that better. It was just
- 56:55Speaker 3: a better team.
- 56:56Speaker 7: Yeah, and the Guardians won.
- 56:57Speaker 11: That's a step ahead, isn't it?
- 56:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just glad to see the Guardians beat
- 57:01Speaker 3: Tito down there with the Reds. That made me happy.
- 57:04Speaker 11: Yeah, well, have a good day, buddy.
- 57:05Speaker 3: It's Dick from Dayton. You're on the air.
- 57:09Speaker 4: Ron.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Emmanuel.
- 57:12Speaker 11: I've been knowing you for a long time.
- 57:14Speaker 3: And you're a lucky man. You're a lucky man because
- 57:16Speaker 3: of that.
- 57:17Speaker 11: I'm blessed, right?
- 57:18Speaker 33: Because by knowing you, I get the intellect from your
- 57:23Speaker 33: better half through you.
- 57:25Speaker 8: So I can't.
- 57:29Speaker 3: Well, you dirty rat.
- 57:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:32Speaker 33: I love you so much.
- 57:34Speaker 11: Right.
- 57:35Speaker 33: That I can't.
- 57:37Speaker 11: Well, let me be honest with you. Right.
- 57:40Speaker 33: You're not really telling the truth and you and JJ
- 57:45Speaker 33: just don't get it. I hear you talk about, you
- 57:50Speaker 33: don't understand what's going on.
- 57:52Speaker 22: Right.
- 57:53Speaker 33: And you don't care.
- 57:55Speaker 3: No, I don't approve. I understand what's going on. I
- 57:57Speaker 3: don't approve of it.
- 57:59Speaker 33: Well, you say you don't care if it's a Democrat
- 58:04Speaker 33: or Republican. You just don't like this, right?
- 58:08Speaker 3: I do not believe, as a citizen of Ohio, that
- 58:12Speaker 3: a data center should get a sales tax break at all.
- 58:16Speaker 3: And I believe it should be repealed. 100 to zero
- 58:22Speaker 3: or whatever the number is, I don't believe that there
- 58:25Speaker 3: should be anyone in the legislature, Democrat or Republican, opposed
- 58:29Speaker 3: to repealing this, period.
- 58:31Speaker 33: Well, Ron, I totally agree with what you and JJ said,
- 58:38Speaker 33: but it doesn't matter, Ron, because that same mouth that
- 58:44Speaker 33: you just said, that intelligent phrase about not having these
- 58:48Speaker 33: data centers right, It's the same mouth that says, well,
- 58:52Speaker 33: I don't care what they do.
- 58:54Speaker 11: I'm not voting Democrat.
- 58:56Speaker 33: All these people we talk about are Republicans, whether it's
- 59:01Speaker 33: in the Statehouse, whether it's in the Senate, whether it's
- 59:05Speaker 33: in the House of Representatives, whether it's in the White House.
- 59:10Speaker 33: But with all these things, I listened last week about
- 59:13Speaker 33: all the things that you guys are upset about, right?
- 59:16Speaker 33: But what's still going to happen when we go in
- 59:18Speaker 33: there and vote? I'm going to vote D, and you're going.
- 59:22Speaker 11: To vote R.
- 59:22Speaker 34: Oh, you're damn right.
- 59:24Speaker 3: You are absolutely right. I will not vote for the
- 59:27Speaker 3: wacky Democrat social agenda. I will never vote for Amy Acton.
- 59:32Speaker 11: I understand, but listen to what I'm saying, Ron.
- 59:34Speaker 3: But then again, if it makes you happy.
- 59:37Speaker 33: Listen, if I'm a Republican politician, I know one thing,
- 59:43Speaker 33: that people like you, They talk about the crazy Democrats.
- 59:47Speaker 33: No matter what they do, you're going to vote for them.
- 59:49Speaker 33: Whether it's the data centers, whether it's the Epstein files,
- 59:54Speaker 33: whether it's a war we shouldn't be in, you're still
- 59:56Speaker 33: going to support those guys.
- 59:58Speaker 11: That's why they do what they do.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Mark my words. See, I can guarantee you this. I
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: will not be voting for Mike DeWine.
- 1:00:10Speaker 33: You voted for him before.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Yeah, but you see, he's not going to be in
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: a ballot. It's going to be Ramaswamy. I will be
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: voting for Vaidya. You voted for him before. Yes. And
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: DeWine has been a..
- 1:00:21Speaker 11: They got voted in. You have a super majority down there.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: DeWine has been a huge disappointment. He's been a disappointment
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: when it comes to the Somalian fraud. I mean, this
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: state isn't any better than Minnesota when it comes to
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: Tampon Tim and the fraud that's been going on. And
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: I do think the Republicans... You get a chance to
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: own that, whether that's the attorney general, whether that's the
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: secretary of state or the auditor, I should say, or
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: the attorney general or the governor. They own that fraud
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: by not being cognizant on dealing with it. And I
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: also say to you that I'm opposed to DeWine with
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: this deal that we have to do these sales tax
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: breaks to lure these senators to Ohio. Now, do I
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: think anything the Democrats stand for is better? Just because
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: I can't stand those things about DeWine doesn't mean I
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: would ever vote for Amy Acton, who I think is
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: just couldn't take it as the state's doctor and had
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: to quit. And I wouldn't vote for her or the
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: progressive agenda ever.
- 1:01:28Speaker 33: Okay, so, but you would vote for someone who's running
- 1:01:30Speaker 33: for Senate that took money from Wexner and voted to..
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 1:01:34Speaker 11: You could find that about the Epstein House. You would
- 1:01:36Speaker 11: vote for that, right?
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Absolutely. Under no circumstances will I vote for Sherrod Brown
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: that had believed in the open border, that believed in
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: all the crazy progressive stance of Joe Biden. He supported
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: everything Joe Biden did, and under no circumstances would I
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: ever vote for Sherrod Brown. That's 100% correct.
- 1:01:56Speaker 33: I've got one more last question. The last question is this.
- 1:01:59Speaker 33: So if I'm a Republican politician, I can do what
- 1:02:03Speaker 33: I want to do. Because you guys aren't going to
- 1:02:05Speaker 33: vote Democrat.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: So if you're a Democrat politician, you can pretty well
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: go do all the crazy stuff that Sherrod Brown did,
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: and you would still vote for him. Is that correct?
- 1:02:16Speaker 11: I've got one thing to say, Ron.
- 1:02:17Speaker 22: Yes.
- 1:02:19Speaker 33: I called your show. I called your show way back
- 1:02:22Speaker 33: and told you I supported Jeb Bush.
- 1:02:24Speaker 11: Y'all laughed at me.
- 1:02:25Speaker 33: I called your show and told you I went to
- 1:02:28Speaker 33: a Trump rally and I like Trump. I called your show,
- 1:02:32Speaker 33: told you that I like Biden. I called your show,
- 1:02:36Speaker 33: told you I didn't like Hillary Clinton, right? And I
- 1:02:38Speaker 33: called your show and told you I like Obama. So
- 1:02:41Speaker 33: how is it being just voting straight Democrat and you
- 1:02:44Speaker 33: guys are voting straight Republican?
- 1:02:46Speaker 11: There's a difference between us and you, Ron.
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: Yes, you vote for crazy.
- 1:02:51Speaker 11: Love you, man.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Thank you. You're on air.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: Ron.
- 1:02:56Speaker 17: Yes.
- 1:02:58Speaker 15: I am so proud of you. You have come full
- 1:03:01Speaker 15: circle on this data center. I am very proud of you.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: Well, thanks. Now I'm going to sit a little higher
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: in my chair. Why is it when she calls, folks,
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: I kind of cower a little bit?
- 1:03:13Speaker 15: I am proud of you. I'm telling you about attaboy.
- 1:03:19Speaker 15: You get a good job because, you know, some of
- 1:03:23Speaker 15: us have been trying to tell you, hence, this isn't
- 1:03:26Speaker 15: all what it's cracked up to be. And your last caller, Manuel?
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: He did make a good point.
- 1:03:32Speaker 15: Now, you know I'm strong conservative.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: Stand by, stand by.
- 1:03:36Speaker 35: I will vote for Vivek.
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: Stand by. It's the boss lady. We'll come back with
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: her right after this.
- 1:03:42Speaker 8: I heart radio.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: All right, back with the boss lady. But I am so...
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: I brought this up before, but now the numbers are
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: out with it on a sales tax. Does it make
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: sense to you, I don't care if you're Democrat or Republican,
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: that any data center should get a sales tax break, period?
- 1:04:03Speaker 15: No, but I will tell you, and you know how
- 1:04:05Speaker 15: staunch conservative I am, I vote Republican down the line.
- 1:04:10Speaker 15: And it's painful for me this time, and I'm only
- 1:04:12Speaker 15: doing it Because Amy Acton, there is zero way in
- 1:04:17Speaker 15: hell I can vote for Amy Acton.
- 1:04:19Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:04:19Speaker 15: But I am not that happy with the Beck and
- 1:04:23Speaker 15: all his ideas as it relates to AI and these
- 1:04:27Speaker 15: data centers. And your last caller was largely right. I mean, Democrats,
- 1:04:33Speaker 15: while they're smaller in number right now at the Ohio
- 1:04:36Speaker 15: State House, they're pushing bills that are way more strict
- 1:04:41Speaker 15: against data centers. They want zero exemptions for them. They
- 1:04:49Speaker 15: are the ones taking really the bull by the horn
- 1:04:51Speaker 15: and really trying to protect the homeowner or the taxpayer,
- 1:04:57Speaker 15: I should say. If you look and do some research,
- 1:05:02Speaker 15: you're going to see that the Democrats are pushing harder
- 1:05:05Speaker 15: than the Republicans are on this issue. And that's unfortunate.
- 1:05:10Speaker 15: I don't know.
- 1:05:12Speaker 36: If I want you to do my faith here.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: I want you to make sure I'm going to give
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: you a tip. OK.
- 1:05:19Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: Let's see. I'm going to have I'm going to have hopefully,
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: hopefully an interview at 530 with. someone that might have
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: some breaking news on this. I'm just telling you that, okay?
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: So make sure you stay tuned. I mean, it's... All right. Ken,
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: let me just vent this to you. And then you
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: take off. I mean, deep down as a citizen of Ohio,
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: and I think you fall into this, I am just
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: pissed about this because I have to pay sales tax
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: on every service and everything that I buy. And these
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: data centers that build these huge facilities don't have to
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: pay sales tax on all of this stuff that they're buying.
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: This is such a two-tier system. It literally craps on
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: every Ohio citizen is all I'm saying. They need us
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: more than we need them. They should be paying these taxes.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: We should have a bonanza as a result of this, right?
- 1:06:15Speaker 15: 1,000%, 1,000%. And that's, I think, why everybody's so frustrated.
- 1:06:21Speaker 15: All we hear is they can't do anything for the taxpayer.
- 1:06:23Speaker 15: They can't do anything for the homeowner. We know Republicans,
- 1:06:26Speaker 15: they aren't going to do anything regarding income tax.
- 1:06:30Speaker 35: They want property tax relief, but no abolishment. And we
- 1:06:34Speaker 35: see all these other decisions being made, and we sit
- 1:06:36Speaker 35: in here.
- 1:06:37Speaker 15: And ask ourselves, why? Why can't you do more? There
- 1:06:39Speaker 15: is plenty of money out there. You just don't want
- 1:06:41Speaker 15: to give it back to us. You would rather give
- 1:06:43Speaker 15: it somewhere else. And that's frustrating for people. I mean,
- 1:06:47Speaker 15: it's just frustrating. It's mind-blowing. Especially in this, you know,
- 1:06:52Speaker 15: it's tough right now out there. And I will say this,
- 1:06:56Speaker 15: you know, everybody keeps saying in the next five years
- 1:06:59Speaker 15: we're going to lose like percentage of our jobs. In
- 1:07:01Speaker 15: the next five years after that, you're going to have
- 1:07:03Speaker 15: robots doing jobs and all of this. I feel like
- 1:07:06Speaker 15: we're cutting off our nose to spite our own damn
- 1:07:08Speaker 15: face here. And so what does this look like?
- 1:07:12Speaker 35: You know, I was just telling somebody else the other day.
- 1:07:14Speaker 35: I mean, I grew up and my parents said, you know,
- 1:07:17Speaker 35: you got.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: To go to school.
- 1:07:17Speaker 11: You got to go to college.
- 1:07:18Speaker 15: You got to graduate. You got to use your brain, brain, brain, brain. Well,
- 1:07:23Speaker 15: we're about to go 360 here. You don't need my
- 1:07:27Speaker 15: brain power here and soon. They don't need my brain
- 1:07:29Speaker 15: soon because they're.
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: Going to have..
- 1:07:31Speaker 15: Computers and AI, tech EPP, all these technology is going
- 1:07:36Speaker 15: to be the brain.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: We're going to go back to what our parents drove
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: us away from, which was because, you know, manufacturing dried
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: up and went overseas, right? So everybody had to do
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: a shift in this country. Now we need you to
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: be intellectual, smart, think, strategy.
- 1:07:54Speaker 15: Well, I feel like we're going to go right back
- 1:07:56Speaker 15: to industry.
- 1:07:59Speaker 8: WKBN.
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: 4.33 in the afternoon. It's Wednesday, May 27th, 77 degrees.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: Ron Verp. All right, boss lady, just bear with me here.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: When you graduated high school, you went to college, true?
- 1:08:11Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: What college? Youngstown State?
- 1:08:14Speaker 15: I went to Youngstown State, yep.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: What did you study?
- 1:08:19Speaker 15: I actually studied nothing that I actually do. I'm in business,
- 1:08:22Speaker 15: and I have a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: A Bachelor of Science?
- 1:08:29Speaker 15: In biology.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: Was it hard?
- 1:08:33Speaker 15: No.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:08:35Speaker 7: No.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: So you thought a Bachelor of Science in biology was easy?
- 1:08:41Speaker 15: Oh, that was a minor. Yes, it was easy.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: All right. So you graduated college, and you got a
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: college degree that has nothing to do with what you
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: ended up doing.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: No.
- 1:08:52Speaker 11: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:08:53Speaker 15: Exactly right. Yeah, I don't do anything that has anything
- 1:08:55Speaker 15: to do with my college degree.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: So what was the point of going to college?
- 1:09:00Speaker 15: Well, most companies, especially back then, wanted the degree to
- 1:09:05Speaker 15: prove that you have the ability to learn, be disciplined,
- 1:09:08Speaker 15: show up on time, persevere, right? Do all those things.
- 1:09:12Speaker 15: And I just started working in management and then..
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: So when you got out of college, you didn't get
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: a job that had anything to do with your degree?
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Did you just go into... I had a girlfriend who was.
- 1:09:26Speaker 15: Working at a company and I went there temporarily as
- 1:09:30Speaker 15: I was trying to figure out what I.
- 1:09:32Speaker 11: Was going to do.
- 1:09:33Speaker 15: And then I was asked to move into a leadership role.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: And so you moved into the leadership roles... Basically, you're
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: talking you went from employee to management.
- 1:09:48Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: And that's how you've achieved what you've achieved today, correct?
- 1:09:56Speaker 15: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Did you feel that you've gone further than you ever
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: dreamed as far as..
- 1:10:02Speaker 15: Oh, yeah. My husband and I laugh about it all
- 1:10:05Speaker 15: the time. My husband's like, did you ever in your
- 1:10:08Speaker 15: lifetime think you would be making this kind of... No, never.
- 1:10:11Speaker 32: No.
- 1:10:13Speaker 8: Why do you, why do you think I'm aggressive?
- 1:10:16Speaker 15: I'm a go getter. I hustle. I never miss work.
- 1:10:19Speaker 15: I'm always on time. I always try to add value.
- 1:10:22Speaker 15: I'm always thinking outside the box.
- 1:10:23Speaker 36: I mean, if you do all those things and you've
- 1:10:25Speaker 36: got a little.
- 1:10:26Speaker 15: Oomph to you, you can do that. It's not hard.
- 1:10:29Speaker 15: It's not hard to do that. You just got to
- 1:10:32Speaker 15: have some, got to have some get up and go.
- 1:10:35Speaker 15: You know what I mean?
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: Was it, was it difficult to hire good people and
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: fire bad people?
- 1:10:42Speaker 15: Oh, it's very easy to fire bad people. Hiring good
- 1:10:45Speaker 15: people is hard. But if you hire somebody good, where
- 1:10:50Speaker 15: I grew up in the organization that I grew up,
- 1:10:52Speaker 15: which set the foundation for my growth, always said you
- 1:10:55Speaker 15: never let them go, no matter what. If you have
- 1:10:57Speaker 15: a great employee, you never let them go, ever.
- 1:11:00Speaker 36: You just don't let them go.
- 1:11:01Speaker 15: Make sure you treat them well and you reward them highly.
- 1:11:05Speaker 15: So if that means that I can only give out
- 1:11:07Speaker 15: $ 100, 000 in pay increases, Uh, some people are going to
- 1:11:14Speaker 15: get let go. Some people are going to get maybe,
- 1:11:17Speaker 15: you know, very little. Some people are going to get much,
- 1:11:21Speaker 15: much larger ones to make sure that I retain them.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: And so when you sit back, I mean, from an
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: income standpoint, you've said, wow, this is beyond my wildest dreams.
- 1:11:35Speaker 15: Yeah. Beyond what I thought for sure, especially.
- 1:11:37Speaker 19: With a four year degree.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: But you've worried, but you, At the same time, you say,
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: I worked hard and I've earned where I am today.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: And now, based on all of that. Are you personally
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: then concerned about what the future has in store?
- 1:11:52Speaker 15: I'm extremely concerned. All the kids sitting in college classrooms
- 1:11:55Speaker 15: right now, I'm extremely worried for them. I'm listening to
- 1:12:00Speaker 15: this now. I'm kind of like waking up to this.
- 1:12:02Speaker 15: I started talking to you about it last week, but
- 1:12:05Speaker 15: I've been thinking about it every day and doing more research.
- 1:12:08Speaker 15: When I hear Elon Musk.
- 1:12:10Speaker 36: Too, I would say he's brilliant.
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:12Speaker 15: I mean, I think most people would say, yeah, he
- 1:12:14Speaker 15: is saying in the next five years, all these jobs
- 1:12:19Speaker 15: that are anything that has to do with office work, analysis, coding,
- 1:12:25Speaker 15: customer service, design, any administrative tasks. I mean, anything that
- 1:12:29Speaker 15: is analytical can be done on a computer. Half of
- 1:12:33Speaker 15: those jobs are going to be gone and it's going
- 1:12:36Speaker 15: to disrupt the workforce. That's going to happen phase one.
- 1:12:39Speaker 15: Phase two is, okay, so.
- 1:12:41Speaker 36: Now those jobs are gone because we.
- 1:12:42Speaker 15: Have systems and tools that can do all of that.
- 1:12:45Speaker 15: They can do it faster, more efficiently. The people who
- 1:12:51Speaker 15: will be last to be disrupted or displaced will be
- 1:12:53Speaker 15: the plumbing, electrical people, the construction people, people who work
- 1:12:59Speaker 15: with their hands, anybody mechanical. The trades are going to
- 1:13:02Speaker 15: now become more... important than anybody that uses their brain. Now,
- 1:13:07Speaker 15: you're going to have the higher echelon who have to
- 1:13:10Speaker 15: make decisions with the data. So the data is going
- 1:13:12Speaker 15: to come in really, really fast. It's going to give
- 1:13:14Speaker 15: you an output, and then you have to make the
- 1:13:16Speaker 15: human side of the decision. So the leadership, you're going
- 1:13:19Speaker 15: to have a reduction. It won't be crazy, as crazy
- 1:13:23Speaker 15: as the worker, the office worker, the analytics, the guys
- 1:13:26Speaker 15: who sit there and do coding all day, people who
- 1:13:29Speaker 15: answer phones or do customer service. Those jobs are going
- 1:13:31Speaker 15: to be slacked. Now, hopefully, they can work with their hands.
- 1:13:36Speaker 15: But working with your hands doesn't have you safe for
- 1:13:38Speaker 15: long because they're building robots right now that virtually can
- 1:13:41Speaker 15: do anything. They can do surgery. They can put an
- 1:13:44Speaker 15: engine in a car. They can do electrical, mechanical, plumbing work.
- 1:13:48Speaker 15: They can do all these things. We are literally walking
- 1:13:51Speaker 15: a very slippery slope. And I understand this whole theory
- 1:13:55Speaker 15: of the US has to get there first because it's
- 1:13:58Speaker 15: a race against other countries. If we're not first, we're last,
- 1:14:01Speaker 15: Ricky Bobby.
- 1:14:01Speaker 36: I get all that to some degree.
- 1:14:06Speaker 15: What's next? And this is where I go towards a very,
- 1:14:09Speaker 15: I don't know, but to me, it looks like a
- 1:14:12Speaker 15: walk towards socialism. So if we don't have any money anymore,
- 1:14:15Speaker 15: there's not any jobs anymore. And I've heard Elon Musk
- 1:14:18Speaker 15: say this several times, and you can go and look
- 1:14:21Speaker 15: it up. Or he says, we won't need jobs. We
- 1:14:24Speaker 15: won't need money. We will have everything. How do you
- 1:14:28Speaker 15: get there? So we won't need jobs. We won't need money.
- 1:14:31Speaker 15: What do we get, rations? Are we all in huts
- 1:14:34Speaker 15: one day? Do I get food rations? We all wear
- 1:14:36Speaker 15: the same clothes.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: But isn't it like a circle? The economy's a circle.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: In other words, you need this guy to do whatever
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: he does. to hire the plumber or hire the construction guy.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: It takes people. We're all tied together in many ways.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: People forget that. I mean, you can be great with
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: your hands, but if you don't have a market that's
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: building homes or remodeling homes. because they don't have the
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: jobs or the disposable income to do so, then you
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: don't have work either. Follow me? I mean, obviously, there's
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: necessities like getting your roof redone and that kind of stuff.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: I get it. But you don't have to remodel a
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: bathroom or the kitchen or any of that kind of
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: jazz if you don't have the disposable income.
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: So..
- 1:15:23Speaker 15: I don't know that there is no income and there's universal,
- 1:15:26Speaker 15: some sort of universal system. I just don't know where
- 1:15:29Speaker 15: I'm at. The point of all this is, is I
- 1:15:30Speaker 15: just don't know where it's all going. And anybody sitting
- 1:15:33Speaker 15: in a classroom right now going to college, like I
- 1:15:35Speaker 15: very much.
- 1:15:36Speaker 11: Fear for them.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: So are you concerned about your own financial future?
- 1:15:43Speaker 15: I mean, you're not, I don't, because I'm, you know,
- 1:15:46Speaker 15: I'm 53. I'll, you know, 10 years from now, squeak
- 1:15:49Speaker 15: through till retirement. Um, I think I'll be one of
- 1:15:56Speaker 15: the last to squeak through this. But I don't even
- 1:16:02Speaker 15: know what that means. Because what does that even mean?
- 1:16:04Speaker 15: I don't know.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: I don't even know.
- 1:16:06Speaker 15: What will the dollar be worth by then?
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: How many children do you have?
- 1:16:13Speaker 8: Two.
- 1:16:14Speaker 15: Well, one will be working with his hands.
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: What advice did you give?
- 1:16:17Speaker 15: Physical therapy.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: Okay. So what advice did you give to your two children?
- 1:16:22Speaker 15: Well, my oldest son, who's very, very, very smart, I
- 1:16:26Speaker 15: told him to lean towards regulation, energy regulation, because all
- 1:16:34Speaker 15: of this expansion, no matter which way we go, is
- 1:16:38Speaker 15: going to depend on energy, whether that's electric, nuclear, whatever.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: So what kind of job, what do you tell him
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: to go do or study or what's he doing?
- 1:16:50Speaker 15: Well, he's already graduated. He's kind of in the same spot.
- 1:16:55Speaker 36: He's already graduated.
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: Does he have a job?
- 1:17:00Speaker 15: Yeah, he has a job. He does financial crime analyst.
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: Financial what?
- 1:17:08Speaker 15: Crime.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: Oh, financial crime.
- 1:17:11Speaker 15: Analyst. Easily displaced with a computer very soon.
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:17:17Speaker 8: So, so I mean, any analyst.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Is his job secure.
- 1:17:20Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:17:21Speaker 15: I mean, today it is, but I mean, I'm, I'm,
- 1:17:25Speaker 15: you know, I, I don't wait. I, I plan ahead.
- 1:17:29Speaker 15: I mean, as much as I can, I plan ahead.
- 1:17:31Speaker 15: I'm telling him, you know, there's, you need to become
- 1:17:34Speaker 15: an expert in energy and power. And he's so stupid,
- 1:17:39Speaker 15: smart at picking. I mean, there's nothing he can't learn.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: Obviously it's, he takes after his father.
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:17:45Speaker 15: Well, actually, my husband's probably way more intelligent than I am.
- 1:17:50Speaker 36: I'm aggressive.
- 1:17:51Speaker 8: I'm assertive.
- 1:17:52Speaker 15: All right.
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: So then the other one's a physical therapist. Because in
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: all seriousness, if I had a daughter, let's say, that
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: was graduating high school or in college, I would be
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: telling them to become a nurse. I would be telling
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: them go into health care because there's such a huge shortage,
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: still a demand, and it still will take people. And
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: you can make a good living. I mean, I would highly,
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: my wife is a nurse, but I would highly recommend.
- 1:18:29Speaker 7: I agree.
- 1:18:30Speaker 15: I think anything in the medical field right now is safe.
- 1:18:34Speaker 15: Right now. But there will certainly be a reduction. You're
- 1:18:37Speaker 15: not going to need all these texts. You'll need a
- 1:18:40Speaker 15: physical person who walks you into the room to get
- 1:18:44Speaker 15: a whatever.
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: I think you're always going.
- 1:18:48Speaker 15: To need somebody to read it. You won't need all
- 1:18:50Speaker 15: the little readers. You might need one person who oversees
- 1:18:53Speaker 15: the reading of it. Maybe that's the thing.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: You're always going to need a nurse and a bedpan
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: and whatever. I mean, I think I'm just trying to
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: say I still say despite AI and like they say,
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: a lot of these jobs will disappear. We shall see.
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: We shall see in a short period of time. We're
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: talking between now and the next three, within the next
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: three years, that they're talking about so many of these
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: jobs disappearing. We shall see. And who knows what jobs
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: will come as a result of it, too. I don't know. But..
- 1:19:27Speaker 15: Yeah, I would say health care is one of the
- 1:19:30Speaker 15: safer ones for sure. I mean, I would say attorneys,
- 1:19:33Speaker 15: hell no.
- 1:19:34Speaker 11: No.
- 1:19:34Speaker 15: I mean, I could probably go online right now and say,
- 1:19:37Speaker 15: here's what I did. Here's what I didn't do. Here's
- 1:19:39Speaker 15: my scenario. Cite case law and tell me how to
- 1:19:42Speaker 15: defend myself.
- 1:19:43Speaker 36: I guarantee I could get a, and then have three.
- 1:19:46Speaker 15: Different AI tools fight against each other to tell me
- 1:19:49Speaker 15: the best probable outcome.
- 1:19:50Speaker 36: I probably could do that right now and not need
- 1:19:53Speaker 36: a lawyer.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: I'm perfectly okay.
- 1:19:56Speaker 15: I mean, there's so many of these industries that are
- 1:19:58Speaker 15: going to be displaced. It's not even funny.
- 1:20:00Speaker 8: I think medical is probably the way.
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: The world still, some jobs get eliminated. You're always going
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: to need an ambulance guy. You're always going to need
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: a paramedic. You're always going to need a fireman. You're
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: always going to need some cop to show up.
- 1:20:12Speaker 15: You're not always going to need a cop, and you're
- 1:20:14Speaker 15: not always going to need a fireman, Ron. You're either
- 1:20:16Speaker 15: trying to do the military or robots.
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: No, robots aren't going to cover all that. You're never
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: going to take people out of the equation. I don't
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: agree with that. There will always be... Well, we shall
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: see what happens.
- 1:20:35Speaker 15: I guess we'll see. We'll be dead, probably. But, I mean,
- 1:20:37Speaker 15: who knows? Probably transportation won't look the same.
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: I might be because I'm older than you, but you'll
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: probably still be around to see this. But who knows?
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: If we're talking within the next three years, hopefully we'll
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: both be around to watch.
- 1:20:53Speaker 15: Oh, three years. I think, yeah, everybody's safe. I think
- 1:20:56Speaker 15: it's the next 10 that are really become, I don't
- 1:20:58Speaker 15: know what happened here.
- 1:21:00Speaker 36: And it's like Pandora's box.
- 1:21:02Speaker 15: We've opened it and there's no stopping it back at
- 1:21:05Speaker 15: this point.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: I would be curious to see what, what happens here,
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: but I am going to, well, stay tuned at five 30.
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: So you and I are on the same page. I mean,
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: just so I get a clear understanding you are as
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: disappointed in Democrats and Republicans as Anybody in the state
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: that said, and DeWine, who I can't, just the longer
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: he goes, I just can't stand the guy.
- 1:21:32Speaker 15: Oh, I agree.
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: And with this tax abatement to data centers as far
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: as sales tax goes, so damn stupid. It cost us
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: so much money. Think of all the money that we've
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: lost that we could have put towards our schools and
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: lowered our property tax burden. Just think of that.
- 1:21:47Speaker 15: A thousand percent. It's a thousand percent. You're right. You're
- 1:21:50Speaker 15: spot on. And that's why people are frustrated. And then
- 1:21:54Speaker 15: last week when you were talking about whatever state that
- 1:21:56Speaker 15: was that told the people, like, you're going to have
- 1:21:59Speaker 15: to find another energy source because you're not going to
- 1:22:01Speaker 15: have electricity. I think we're just moving too fast. We're
- 1:22:04Speaker 15: making these very big, grandiose decisions that, one, are not
- 1:22:08Speaker 15: putting the taxpayer in a better position. They're putting them
- 1:22:11Speaker 15: in a worse position. And then you're putting stress on
- 1:22:14Speaker 15: the system. Why are we rushing like that? We're making
- 1:22:17Speaker 15: rush decisions. We're moving really fast.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: I was doing some research And let me just move
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: from the state to the federal government. You want to
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: know what's really troubling to me, boss lady? And maybe
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: all of you should know this. There are 375 million
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: barrels of oil in our strategic oil reserve. That's how
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: much we have when they're full, 375 million. And China
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: has over a billion, all right, a billion barrels of
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: oil in their strategic petroleum reserve. We are taking oil
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: out of our strategic oil reserve. And putting it, selling
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: it on the market for less than it costs. You
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: follow me? In other words, what is taking place right
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: now is to keep oil prices where they are and
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: to keep oil prices low. We are rating the Strategic
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: Oil Reserve. We just released 17 million barrels the other day.
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: And we're selling them at a lower price than the
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: market price. You follow me? To keep oil prices low.
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: To drive oil prices down. So the oil market is
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: being manipulated right now with strategic oil reserves both in
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: China and in the United States to bring these prices down.
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: And the problem is the supply of oil is being depleted.
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: You follow me? The reserves are coming further down both
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: here and in China. And so... the amount of available
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: oil is declining to manipulate. Well, some of these analysts
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: are saying that it's not going to leave us in
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: a good place because oil prices could soar because they're
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: being manipulated now because you're going to be running out
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: of this oil, oil that you're manipulating the market with.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: Plus you have, uh, the cutbacks as a result of
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: the straight. And if that escalates that you could see
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: oil prices spike even more. And even though there's conversation
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: and Dalio and these, some of these economists are saying
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: that they're thinking you could see a six rate of
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: inflation at 6% in the second quarter, 6% rate of inflation.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: I mean, this is, I mean, this is how, when
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: people are talking about Trump and this, this whole war
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: going on with Iran, uh, And I still say Netanyahu
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: and Israel was behind him getting involved in this. The
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: economy is going in the right direction. He could very
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: well be destroying this economy with high inflation, potential interest
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: rate increases, and oil costs going up. With no end
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: in sight. And what do they say? The insanity is
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: doing the same thing again, expecting different results. So let's
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: go bomb the hell out of them some more after
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: we've already done that and think we're going to get
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: different results. And the concern is if they take action
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: to start nailing oil production in places, we could have
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: a major economic situation that's that's. some people in the
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: know say is pending. Let's put it that way. It's fair.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: That's something to be concerned about as well. I lay
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: that on your plate. Okay.
- 1:25:46Speaker 33: All right.
- 1:25:47Speaker 35: Well, let's see what he has to say.
- 1:25:49Speaker 15: Let him know if whoever's calling in at five 30,
- 1:25:52Speaker 15: Ohio is number six in the country for the amount
- 1:25:55Speaker 15: of data centers.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Yeah. All right. I'll try to get you the latest update.
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: I promise. All right. Thank you. News radio five 70.
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: Don't you can be in a run for here tonight
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: till seven. I mean, this is just stuff I just
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: want you to know. I mean, it's, did you know that?
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: 375 million barrels in our strategic oil reserve, 1 billion
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: in China. And they're being tapped into to manipulate oil
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: prices down. Biden did it. So there's really kind of an,
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: the price is being manipulated by that oil So what
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: happens when you stop drawing on that and the prices
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: go back to the markets? This whole thing is really,
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: it's a mess. I just want you to hear this,
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: and I can't get it all on. This is from CNBC.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: The guy's name is Jeff Curry. He's an oil market analyst.
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: And I just want you to hear what he has
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: to say. Please pay attention to this for a minute.
- 1:27:02Speaker 37: A peace deal with Iran that would reopen the Strait
- 1:27:05Speaker 37: of Hormuz.
- 1:27:05Speaker 31: A bit of mixed messaging, although on Sunday, but still
- 1:27:09Speaker 31: oil prices are lower.
- 1:27:10Speaker 27: This morning on the back of this news.
- 1:27:12Speaker 34: So walk me through how you are digesting this news
- 1:27:16Speaker 34: and where does crude go from here?
- 1:27:18Speaker 38: Well, I just want to start with one observation. Five
- 1:27:21Speaker 38: deal announcements, zero closes over the whole period since the
- 1:27:25Speaker 38: war has begun.
- 1:27:27Speaker 9: That's a pattern.
- 1:27:28Speaker 38: And I think the key pattern is sell.
- 1:27:31Speaker 9: The tweet, buy the molecule.
- 1:27:34Speaker 38: And I just want to emphasize when we look at Iran,
- 1:27:38Speaker 38: I think it was a Middle East senior official once
- 1:27:40Speaker 38: told me, he goes, never negotiate with an Iranian.
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: The minute you.
- 1:27:44Speaker 38: Think you won, that's exactly when you know you probably lost.
- 1:27:47Speaker 38: And their negotiating position at this point has never been
- 1:27:51Speaker 38: stronger than In the last 47 years, when we look at,
- 1:27:55Speaker 38: I like to point out, every day that goes by,
- 1:27:58Speaker 38: Iran's negotiating leverage compounds.
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: Why?
- 1:28:01Speaker 38: Because inventories of oil and inventories continue to drop. Last
- 1:28:05Speaker 38: week alone, you dropped inventories by 17 million barrels. And
- 1:28:09Speaker 38: so I like to say, as the clock ticks on,
- 1:28:11Speaker 38: the situation for Iran, they're leveraging power compounds, while for
- 1:28:15Speaker 38: the West, it decreases.
- 1:28:18Speaker 29: You told my colleagues.
- 1:28:19Speaker 8: In London last week that oil shortage.
- 1:28:22Speaker 38: Could hit bottom within weeks.
- 1:28:25Speaker 8: Do you see this happening in the US too?
- 1:28:27Speaker 29: And do we have a clear timeframe for oil hitting
- 1:28:31Speaker 29: a tank bottom, as you said?
- 1:28:33Speaker 38: Well, I think, first of all, when I say tank bottoms,
- 1:28:35Speaker 38: people look at it and go, there's 8 billion barrels
- 1:28:38Speaker 38: of oil out there. The reality is the vast majority
- 1:28:42Speaker 38: of that oil is pipe-filled, system-filled.
- 1:28:44Speaker 9: You don't have access to it.
- 1:28:46Speaker 38: So you can only go to a certain level we
- 1:28:47Speaker 38: call minimum operating levels. And in the case of Asia,
- 1:28:53Speaker 38: you're there. I mean, we've seen explosive prices.
- 1:28:56Speaker 9: You know, jet.
- 1:28:57Speaker 38: Fuel has come down, but diesel has now gone up
- 1:29:00Speaker 38: above jet fuel. So the problem here in Singapore continues.
- 1:29:03Speaker 38: It just moved from jet to diesel. The next one
- 1:29:06Speaker 38: would be Europe. We expect Europe to start to have problems.
- 1:29:11Speaker 38: After this bank holiday, as we get into the summer
- 1:29:14Speaker 38: driving season, one thing about Europe, all of the inventories
- 1:29:18Speaker 38: that are drying out of the United States, out of
- 1:29:20Speaker 38: the US SPR, are being exported into Europe.
- 1:29:23Speaker 9: So the Europeans think.
- 1:29:24Speaker 38: They have no problem because they're getting all of this
- 1:29:27Speaker 38: oil being imported from the United States. But that can't
- 1:29:29Speaker 38: continue on because we move over to the US, you
- 1:29:32Speaker 38: start to get into problems sometime in July. I would say, Asia,
- 1:29:37Speaker 38: you're there. Europe, give it about another month and look
- 1:29:40Speaker 38: for July being a problem in the US.
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: In the US.
- 1:29:43Speaker 29: President Trump is considering suspending the federal gasoline tax.
- 1:29:48Speaker 39: It doesn't sound good to me.
- 1:29:49Speaker 8: Based on what you just said.
- 1:29:52Speaker 38: That doesn't solve any of the problems. The only way
- 1:29:55Speaker 38: you solve this problem is increase the availability of molecules.
- 1:29:59Speaker 38: And they've done that through the SPR. But we look
- 1:30:02Speaker 38: at oil prices. Ever since they made the announcement, we
- 1:30:05Speaker 38: see prices trending up. And I like to point in
- 1:30:08Speaker 38: vehicles that you can invest in like the BCOM Commodity
- 1:30:11Speaker 38: Index for oil or like the USO or BNO. They've
- 1:30:15Speaker 38: all just continued to go higher and higher, which is
- 1:30:17Speaker 38: telling that you have an underlying problem here. So I
- 1:30:21Speaker 38: like to point out is we can come up with
- 1:30:23Speaker 38: these different types of policy announcements that try to solve it.
- 1:30:27Speaker 38: But the only thing that's gonna solve it is more
- 1:30:29Speaker 38: molecules and ultimately, The real thing is open the straits.
- 1:30:33Speaker 38: But that's still, even if you announced it tomorrow, six
- 1:30:36Speaker 38: more months before you really solve the problem.
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: All right, now I'll play you the rest of that
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: maybe after the break, okay? So keep that in mind.
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: I'll try to do that, all right, for you. That's
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: from CNBC. I mean, we're the guys talking about this
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: kind of stuff. But it's stuff I want you to know.
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: I mean, these are like from these analysts that follow
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: this kind of stuff no more than we do.
- 1:31:07Speaker 8: From ABC News.
- 1:31:08Speaker 39: I'm Lindsay Davis, anchor of Prime, streaming weeknights on ABC
- 1:31:12Speaker 39: News Live. A standoff between the U.S. and Iran continues.
- 1:31:16Speaker 39: Iranian state media claims Iran sent a memo to the U.S.
- 1:31:19Speaker 39: stating Iran will continue to control the Strait of Hormuz.
- 1:31:22Speaker 39: President Trump says Iran is negotiating on fumes but expressed
- 1:31:25Speaker 39: optimism over a deal. ABC's Ian Panels in Israel with reaction.
- 1:31:29Speaker 40: The White House, the Trump administration keep voicing optimism that
- 1:31:32Speaker 40: a deal is close at hand. But if you actually
- 1:31:35Speaker 40: look at the facts on the ground, over the last
- 1:31:37Speaker 40: few days, we've seen U.S. strikes in Iran, Iran vowing
- 1:31:40Speaker 40: to retaliate, an increase in Israeli strikes in Lebanon, the
- 1:31:44Speaker 40: Iranian-backed proxy group Hezbollah firing back here in Israel.
- 1:31:48Speaker 39: The CDC is stepping up screening procedures for Ebola at
- 1:31:51Speaker 39: key airports where travelers arrive from Central Africa. ABC's Faith
- 1:31:54Speaker 39: Abubay is at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International.
- 1:31:58Speaker 22: An internal email obtained by ABC News shows acting CDC
- 1:32:01Speaker 22: Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya urging employees to volunteer to screen
- 1:32:06Speaker 22: Americans returning from Ebola hot zones for possible signs of
- 1:32:10Speaker 22: the virus.
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: The U.S. is one of several.
- 1:32:13Speaker 22: Countries tightening travel restrictions amid the rapidly growing outbreak.
- 1:32:18Speaker 39: It comes as the U.S. is preparing to host the
- 1:32:20Speaker 39: World Cup games next month with criticism building over ticket prices.
- 1:32:23Speaker 39: Now two state prosecutors have launched an investigation into FIFA's
- 1:32:26Speaker 39: ticketing practices.
- 1:32:27Speaker 41: Investigating whether fans were misled about the locations of the
- 1:32:31Speaker 41: seats they were buying, New York Attorney General Letitia James
- 1:32:34Speaker 41: and New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport. They also want
- 1:32:37Speaker 41: to know whether FIFA's public statements about tickets inflated prices
- 1:32:41Speaker 41: for the eight matches at MetLife Stadium. Fans have reported
- 1:32:44Speaker 41: they were misled about where their seats would be.
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: ABC's Chuck Sievertson.
- 1:32:48Speaker 39: New York Knicks fans are celebrating the team's trip to
- 1:32:50Speaker 39: the finals, but ticket prices for the championship games are
- 1:32:53Speaker 39: soaring into the thousands. The Knicks still waiting to see
- 1:32:56Speaker 39: who they'll face. The San Antonio Spurs lead the Oklahoma
- 1:33:00Speaker 39: City Thunder 3-2 in the series. Game 6 is tomorrow.
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: You're listening to ABC News.
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: Hot.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: Back to it. News Radio 570.
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: WDQ.
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: Yann Aron. So I go back to... Let's see.
- 1:33:12Speaker 22: This..
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: This guy said the analyst Jeff Curry's was being interviewed
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: on CNBC. And I just want you to hear another
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: portion of this. So he's talking about, you got, you're
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: going to get oil bottoms. Basically we're depleting a lot
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: of our strategic, uh, oil reserves to keep prices artificially low.
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: And so whether that's the U S or China and
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: this kind of stuff, and it's, uh, it's not, it's
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: not a good deposition to be in. And then he's, uh,
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: I just want to play this part where he's talking,
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: I think, about minerals. I just want to play you
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: this so I can get back to your phone calls.
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: Just stuff I want you to know. Wait a second.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: I think I screwed that up a little bit. Let
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: me try that again. Let me try to. All right.
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: Let me see. I got to get back to this
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: where I need to go with this guy and talk about. Well,
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: I'll get to it. I'm having some Internet issues, obviously. Okay,
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: let's see here. All right, well, it's not going to function.
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: I'll get it to you later. All right, you're on
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: the air.
- 1:34:26Speaker 7: Ron, good afternoon, sir.
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: Yes, sir.
- 1:34:29Speaker 7: I think ultimately, and I'm not sure I might have
- 1:34:32Speaker 7: even sent you something about that CNBC thing yesterday, but
- 1:34:35Speaker 7: the problem is you haven't had oil coming out of
- 1:34:38Speaker 7: the strait. That's 20% of the world's supply. So if
- 1:34:40Speaker 7: you're One of every five gallons since pretty much, what,
- 1:34:44Speaker 7: the middle of March hasn't left the Gulf. Not quite that,
- 1:34:48Speaker 7: because I think Saudi Arabia and UAE are getting some
- 1:34:51Speaker 7: out through pipelines to go into the Red Sea. But
- 1:34:55Speaker 7: oil was so low before because there was actually overproduction
- 1:34:58Speaker 7: in the world. There were hundreds of millions of barrels
- 1:35:01Speaker 7: or tens of millions of barrels sitting on tankers on
- 1:35:04Speaker 7: the ocean floating, waiting to be bought. That's all gone.
- 1:35:07Speaker 7: The strategic petroleum reserves in a lot of these countries, Europe,
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: the U.S., China, are being drawn down. And once again,
- 1:35:15Speaker 7: if you remember back in 2022, it was Joe Biden
- 1:35:19Speaker 7: who drew down about half of the strategic petroleum reserve
- 1:35:22Speaker 7: or more just to lower prices. There was no reason
- 1:35:26Speaker 7: to do it other than he was trying to position
- 1:35:28Speaker 7: himself for re-election. So another... Positive side effect of having
- 1:35:34Speaker 7: Joe Biden as president is now we're less prepared than
- 1:35:36Speaker 7: we should be.
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: Well, and Trump's doing the same thing now, too.
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: Well, yeah, but now you have a reason to. The
- 1:35:44Speaker 7: Strategic Petroleum Reserve wasn't put there to just keep prices
- 1:35:47Speaker 7: low because demand was high or what have you.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: See, I don't buy that you have a reason to.
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: It's really put there for military purposes, to be blunt
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: with you. That's the purpose of it. It's not there
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: to manipulate prices or, boy, now you really need to
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: do it. He's using it to manipulate prices and keep
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: them low as well. What this guy is saying on
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: CNBC is these prices are artificially manipulated. They're not, and it's...
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: Basically saying, what, July, the crap's going to hit the
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: fan in the United States. I mean, I've always mispronounced
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: the name Dalio, the financial guy, Schiff. There's four of
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: them that are talking about 6% inflation in the second quarter. 6% inflation.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: I mean, when you take a look at what's coming,
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: at what some of these people... coming from an energy,
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: the cost of energy, the inflation that's coming as a
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: result of it. It's a disaster.
- 1:36:52Speaker 7: Well, I think it's the old, you know, you break it,
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: you bought it. I think Colin Powell told Bush that
- 1:36:56Speaker 7: in 2003 when he went into Iraq, and that didn't
- 1:37:00Speaker 7: turn out so well. And I think Trump went in
- 1:37:04Speaker 7: with this, maybe with rose-colored glasses on, and this war
- 1:37:08Speaker 7: didn't turn out nearly to be as easy as what
- 1:37:10Speaker 7: he thought it would be.
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: Correct.
- 1:37:12Speaker 7: And, you know, none of the rest of the world,
- 1:37:15Speaker 7: it still baffles me that the Europeans were going to
- 1:37:18Speaker 7: be hurt by this more than anybody else other than
- 1:37:21Speaker 7: maybe Japan and South Korea. Nobody's lifting a finger to
- 1:37:27Speaker 7: try and solve this problem. It's just all on us.
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: I don't know that they will.
- 1:37:33Speaker 7: We've got plenty of oil in our country. What I
- 1:37:35Speaker 7: don't understand is why we're shipping all our oil over
- 1:37:37Speaker 7: to Europe.
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: Well, what they say is that the oil we have
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: is not conducive to our refineries.
- 1:37:45Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: I'm learning more about oil than I ever wanted to.
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: It's not conducive to our— No, I'm.
- 1:37:49Speaker 7: Talking about what's in the strategic petroleum.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I don't understand any of that, the global
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: market aspect of it. I don't know.
- 1:37:57Speaker 7: I just think, and I've said this before, I think
- 1:38:00Speaker 7: at times like this, you kind of have to put
- 1:38:02Speaker 7: the brakes on the global market from the United States
- 1:38:04Speaker 7: standpoint and just say, you know what, we're going to
- 1:38:06Speaker 7: stop exporting some of our hydrocarbons. That'll drive Frank from
- 1:38:11Speaker 7: Fort Lauderdale nuts.
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: Well, the part of, I don't know if it's in
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: that guy's discussion, but I've been doing so much of it,
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: is also you're dealing with some of these, not oil,
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: but chemicals that you need for copper and other type
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: of things that you can't get right now because of
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: of the straight being closed.
- 1:38:32Speaker 7: Helium for chip production. Helium, I guess, is used to
- 1:38:35Speaker 7: cool the chips when they're produced.
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: There's many things like that. I forget what's used in copper,
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: and it's not available. So you're going to see other
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: things out. You're going to see production come to a
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: standstill in places because they won't have the availability to
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: get the... things that they need.
- 1:38:54Speaker 7: What bothers me now is the Iranians are, I think,
- 1:38:58Speaker 7: unfortunately are playing Trump or he's just so desperate for
- 1:39:02Speaker 7: a deal that he's going to kind of take, he's
- 1:39:04Speaker 7: going to make a deal that he shouldn't make. I
- 1:39:07Speaker 7: think that's where, if you, it was what, was it
- 1:39:08Speaker 7: last week or the weekend before where Cruz and a
- 1:39:11Speaker 7: bunch of the other people are like, you know, you
- 1:39:12Speaker 7: started this thing. Don't take a deal just to end it.
- 1:39:15Speaker 7: Don't take a bad deal.
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: I don't think he will. I really don't think he will.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: And I think, and I think that's might be a mistake.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: I mean, hey, I'm rooting for the best, but you
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: understand these other countries aren't getting involved because they're saying
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: to Trump, you started this mess. You fix it. We
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: weren't for this from the beginning.
- 1:39:37Speaker 11: It's going to affect them in the end is probably
- 1:39:40Speaker 11: more than it will affect.
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:39:41Speaker 11: But like I said, we have enough oil.
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: I don't know about that. You hear about the global market.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: I don't buy any of that. Listen, I hope this
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: all works out. Let me start with that. But I
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: go back to say, this has gone on longer than
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: he thought it would go on, in my opinion. The
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: deals eminent doesn't, like that guy was saying, five times
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: you hear that, zero deals. And according to that analyst,
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: he says Iran's in a better position now than ever
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: because of where things are heading oil-wise. And stay the course,
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: destroy the American economy. Stay the course.
- 1:40:22Speaker 7: I'm a lot less worried about that long term than
- 1:40:25Speaker 7: I am what you and Boss Lady were talking about
- 1:40:27Speaker 7: because she hit the nail on the head. A lot
- 1:40:29Speaker 7: of this H-1B visa stuff that Vivek is pushing, he's
- 1:40:34Speaker 7: in trouble with that, I think. Like I said, I've got..
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: Then vote for Amy Acton, because that's just... I don't
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: care if it's a lesser of two evils. It's still
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: a lesser of two evils.
- 1:40:44Speaker 7: I've talked to them blue in the face to two
- 1:40:47Speaker 7: of my three kids, and they probably just won't vote
- 1:40:50Speaker 7: for governor, but they won't.
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: Vote for me. Well, then that is voting, because you
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: won't take a stand. Listen, all my life I've had
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: to vote for the lesser of two evils in many cases,
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: but it still is a lesser of two evils.
- 1:41:03Speaker 7: You and I are old-timers, and we understand that. When
- 1:41:05Speaker 7: you're in your 20s, you don't understand that.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: Well, no, I think they're capable of understanding it. I
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: just don't think that they get it. I don't think
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: they're stupid. I think that they just, I don't know why.
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: I just think it is stupid. I don't think they're stupid,
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: but it's ridiculous.
- 1:41:23Speaker 7: You look at a lot of these college graduations right
- 1:41:25Speaker 7: now where you've got speakers that are talking about the
- 1:41:27Speaker 7: future in AI and they're getting booed because these kids
- 1:41:31Speaker 7: that are graduating from college aren't stupid. They see all
- 1:41:33Speaker 7: the hard work, money, and effort and time that they've
- 1:41:35Speaker 7: invested in a college degree and basically going out the
- 1:41:39Speaker 7: window because they're gonna get replaced by robots artificial intelligence
- 1:41:43Speaker 7: and eight one b visa workers coming in from india
- 1:41:46Speaker 7: willing to undercut him for half the pay well so
- 1:41:53Speaker 7: i mean that's why they're not voting for that to
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: let me make is a hundred percent in on all
- 1:41:57Speaker 7: that stuff he's huge on data centers he's huge on
- 1:41:59Speaker 7: h one b's and i mean i like i said
- 1:42:02Speaker 7: i'm voting for him because i think i can't fathom
- 1:42:05Speaker 7: amy acton running the state of ohio you know, it
- 1:42:08Speaker 7: should be like Mondami. So I'll vote for him, but
- 1:42:11Speaker 7: I can understand how a younger person could say, I
- 1:42:13Speaker 7: just can't.
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: That's where you and I part company. I don't understand
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: it at all. It's, it's pretty simple to me, the
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: lesser of two evils. I mean, and I, I don't
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: necessarily think the fake is a horrible evil. I just,
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: I think he's got the, he would run Ohio much
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: better than she would period. And, and I mean, if
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: you can't see that, then I don't know. I don't
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: know what to say. Listen, I can sit here and
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: say DeWine is a disaster. I mean, the fraud, the
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: Somalian fraud, what's taking place in Ohio isn't any better
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: than Tampon Tim. And I sometimes wonder, is that why
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: the attorney general left and went to this Catholic charity
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: or whatever this organization is that he went to? Because
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: he realized the crap's going to be hitting the fan here?
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: Because people are going to say, well, where's the attorney general?
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: Where's the auditor? Where's the governor? Why weren't our elected
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: officials doing anything? The same questions we ask in Minnesota.
- 1:43:12Speaker 7: Well, I mean, just look what he's... Look what he's
- 1:43:14Speaker 7: line-item vetoed. All the things, all the property tax stuff
- 1:43:17Speaker 7: that Dave Thomas passed, some of which they were able
- 1:43:20Speaker 7: to get overridden, but not all of it. I don't think...
- 1:43:22Speaker 7: He just doesn't care about the average Ohio, and all
- 1:43:24Speaker 7: he cares about is these special interest groups, these Somalians and...
- 1:43:28Speaker 7: The Haitians down in Springfield and all that stuff. I
- 1:43:31Speaker 7: don't get it. I don't get how they're more important
- 1:43:33Speaker 7: than the taxpaying citizens of the state of Ohio.
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: Well, I go back to this. Why are data centers getting,
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: what is it, over a billion? So they don't pay
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: sales tax. You do. And it's over a billion dollars. It's, what,
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: a billion and a half dollars. It's just in one
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: year that the state lost in tax revenue from them
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: paying the same tax you have to pay.
- 1:43:58Speaker 7: Well, I'd like to see the permanent jobs that they have.
- 1:44:01Speaker 7: I bet if you add up all the data centers
- 1:44:02Speaker 7: in Ohio..
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 1:44:04Speaker 7: All the jobs that they create..
- 1:44:05Speaker 11: I don't care.
- 1:44:06Speaker 7: I bet it doesn't equal Wardstown. I bet it doesn't
- 1:44:08Speaker 7: equal the laws of Wardstown.
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: I could care less. I'm just saying about the tax aspect.
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: That's all that matters. It's not importantly.
- 1:44:15Speaker 7: Invested because you're not creating jobs. I don't even understand
- 1:44:19Speaker 7: why you really want them here because... They only produce
- 1:44:24Speaker 7: something like 30 or 40 jobs for every data center,
- 1:44:26Speaker 7: permanent jobs after the construction.
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: Well, they're going to go somewhere. I go back to
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: say this. You will use it. Everyone bitching about them
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: will use it. They're going to go somewhere, and if
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: they're somewhere in your grid of states, if your energy
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: costs are going to go up, they're still going to
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: go up, and you're not going to get any of
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: the benefits of the construction jobs, the real estate taxes,
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: or any of the jobs that are that are there
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: period but i view it more as that what it
- 1:44:57Speaker 3: can do for your community on a tax.
- 1:44:59Speaker 7: Basis i i just once again going to go back
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: to what you and boss lady were talking about you're
- 1:45:05Speaker 7: going to see so much job destruction over the next
- 1:45:08Speaker 7: five to ten years I know, like, a healthcare pharmacy
- 1:45:12Speaker 7: will be gone in 10 years. My job won't exist,
- 1:45:15Speaker 7: or the number of pharmacists you need will be one-tenth
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: of what's required today to do the same job.
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: Why is that?
- 1:45:22Speaker 7: It's just gone. Because the technology's improving to the point
- 1:45:25Speaker 7: you'll go to the doctor, the doctor will send the
- 1:45:28Speaker 7: script to a box, and the box will have it
- 1:45:29Speaker 7: on your front door by that night. You have some
- 1:45:32Speaker 7: drone or courier, somebody's going to put it there. You're
- 1:45:34Speaker 7: not going to need us. Already, when scripts come in,
- 1:45:38Speaker 7: they're electronically sent from the doctor's office to our pharmacy.
- 1:45:42Speaker 7: Fields are already pre-populated. It's already selected the right patient,
- 1:45:45Speaker 7: the right drug, the right doctor. I've been told by
- 1:45:48Speaker 7: the end of the year the right directions will be
- 1:45:50Speaker 7: in there. So we're just basically double-checking the AI to
- 1:45:53Speaker 7: make sure it's correct. It actually has gotten easier in
- 1:46:01Speaker 7: the last two years with AI to check prescriptions. The
- 1:46:04Speaker 7: error rates have gone down substantially. So it's not a
- 1:46:07Speaker 7: bad thing, but once again, you're going to have a
- 1:46:10Speaker 7: lot of job destruction from the technology. I'm surprised we
- 1:46:13Speaker 7: haven't cut hours, to be honest with you, because I
- 1:46:16Speaker 7: don't think we need as much help as we used
- 1:46:17Speaker 7: to have.
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: Well, we shall see about that, but DeWine is such
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: a disappointment in all of this.
- 1:46:23Speaker 7: Without a doubt.
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: Yeah, he's terrible.
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: Thank you. Appreciate it, Rich.
- 1:46:27Speaker 7: Take care, Ron.
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: All right, you're on air. Ronald. Ted the Conservative.
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: You just made my point. I was calling in to
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: be devil's advocate. And you just said that they're going somewhere, right?
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: They're going up. The world is evolving. We can't stop it.
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: I would rather have them in my area. I would
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: rather have them here than in Columbus.
- 1:46:54Speaker 36: Okay.
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: So let's talk. Let's look at the balance. You're upset
- 1:46:58Speaker 5: about a sales tax. That was a sales tax credit, right?
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: A sales tax waiver. A total waiver.
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: So in order to lose something, you have to have something.
- 1:47:13Speaker 11: So what did we lose.
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: By giving them the sales tax credit? We didn't lose anything.
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: They didn't come here.
- 1:47:21Speaker 5: They didn't build the facility. So you didn't lose money.
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: No, no. The state lost money, and I'm a member
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: of this state. The state lost.
- 1:47:31Speaker 11: Hear me out.
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: Hear me out. If they don't locate here, okay, they
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: don't come to Ohio. You don't have the facility. Let's
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: look at what they do pay. What do they pay?
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: What do data centers pay? They build them, right? There's construction.
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: There's land acquisition.
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: Stand by. Stand by.
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: Back in a minute. News Radio 570 WKBN. Youngstown's news, weather,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: and talk station. 570 WKBN.
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: Ron Furb, News Radio 570 WKBN. Where's Ted? Hello?
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: Ted?
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: Where did I have him?
- 1:48:06Speaker 22: Ted?
- 1:48:07Speaker 5: Hello?
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: Hello. You're not Ted.
- 1:48:20Speaker 19: Yes, I am.
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 1:48:22Speaker 7: Is this Ron?
- 1:48:23Speaker 11: Yes.
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: Ron, how you doing?
- 1:48:25Speaker 7: This is Ted.
- 1:48:25Speaker 11: First time caller.
- 1:48:27Speaker 3: Oh, Ted the conservative?
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: No.
- 1:48:30Speaker 5: The other Ted.
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: The other Ted?
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: Yes, Ted the conservative.
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: Listen, I mean, what was the point you were trying
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: to make?
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: Okay, so what type of revenue do data centers produce
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: for the state of Ohio? Do they pay property taxes?
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: In some cases, yes, and in some cases, no.
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: Okay, do they purchase energy?
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: In 2024, the state sales tax exemption for data centers
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: cost Ohio in 2024 $ 555 million in revenue. From four
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: times more than was forecasted in 2025, it cost a
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: whopping $ 1. 6 billion in sales tax revenue. So in two years,
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: we lost $ 2 billion in sales tax revenue. And I'm
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: looking here because in some places, they get a damn
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: property tax abatement. This is unreal.
- 1:49:29Speaker 5: I hear what you're saying, but I want you to
- 1:49:31Speaker 5: try to hear what I'm saying. If they didn't come here,
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: we would have not had that revenue anyway, right?
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: Correct.
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: So they used that to entice them to build that
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: facility here.
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: You don't need to do that. I go back to this.
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: Are other states vying for the same?
- 1:49:48Speaker 3: I don't care. You do not need to do. This
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: is the bull crap thing that they sell you on this. Well,
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: we got to do it to get them here. First
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: of all, a lot of areas don't want them. You
- 1:49:59Speaker 3: don't have to do this. I go back to say
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: we have the right weather. A data center is much
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: different than building a factory. You have to have the
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: right weather. You have to have the right transmission lines.
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: You have to have the right location. That's why they
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: want to be in Lordstown. There's certain areas that are
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: more primed than others. They're more apt, like, for example,
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: they're going to be in Virginia because it's close to
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: the government, Washington, D.C. I mean, so it's a prime location.
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: They're not crazy about the Sun Belt, although they have
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: to be there because of the air conditioning cost in
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: a Sun Belt versus here in our weather. And Lordstown's
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: a sweet spot because of the transmission lines that are there,
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: the high transmission lines you can use. A lot of
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: places where they rip down coal plants, prime location because
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: of the transmission, the power lines that are needed.
- 1:50:52Speaker 5: So what is the advantage of having a data center
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: in your community? Is there an advantage?
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: Yes. If a data center comes here, first, you offset
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: some of your property tax costs. No exemption. I'm against
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: any exemption. They pay property taxes and it lowers the
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: property tax on every homeowner because you shift a large
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: part of that burden to that company. Secondly, the construction
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: jobs that come from it, the sales tax that comes
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: from it, and the maintenance jobs that come from it.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: The constant heating and cooling issues.
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: I'm sure there's a lot of ancillary income for local
- 1:51:28Speaker 5: businesses also.
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: Yes. Stand by. Stand by. Back in a minute with
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: Ted the Conservative and more.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN. Now, Ron Verb on News Radio
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: 570 WKVN. All right.
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: Before I get back to any of the callers, I
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: want to go here for just a bit. I text
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: you to have you call in. It's State Rep Dave Thomas. Hi, Dave.
- 1:51:59Speaker 19: Hey, Ron.
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: All right, so I'm reading this article in a trib,
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: and I'm boiling here, all right? So I text you.
- 1:52:11Speaker 3: And it says here, Ohio's biggest tax break for data
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: centers is more expensive than one's thought. I'm not going
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: to get into all this. In 2024, data centers didn't
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: pay sales tax on all the stuff that they buy
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: to build these. That was $ 555 million. Then last year,
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: it was $ 1.
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: 6 billion.
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: So that's basically $ 2 billion in that these data centers
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: did not pay in state sales tax, $ 2 billion, as
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: I say on the air, for buying the materials to
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: build these data centers in Ohio. But if I add
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: on to my garage, as I like to say, I
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: got to pay that sales tax as a citizen of Ohio. Now,
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: then I go back and read, even there was some,
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: I'll find it in the article, some property tax abatements
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: on some of them, which just... It bothers me even more.
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: So they say, well, this sales tax abatement goes back
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: to 2016. And what is going on here, Dave? I mean,
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: why is this happening if we're a sweet spot for
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: data centers with the weather, with the transmission lines, and
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: they want to be here? Why is any of this
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: happening that screws the Ohio citizen? And what's being done
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: about it?
- 1:53:31Speaker 28: I 100% agree with you. I'm actually fuming even more.
- 1:53:37Speaker 28: You probably haven't seen what the governor just did. We
- 1:53:41Speaker 28: just got word of it just now. But to go back,
- 1:53:45Speaker 28: so this exemption exists. It's at the state level for
- 1:53:48Speaker 28: the sales tax. The legislature, we all voted to remove
- 1:53:53Speaker 28: this exemption to say sales tax half is being paid
- 1:53:56Speaker 28: fully by data centers moving forward. We did that in
- 1:54:00Speaker 28: the budget last year. You put that in, it passed.
- 1:54:04Speaker 28: Against the wishes of the labor unions and against the
- 1:54:07Speaker 28: wishes of the data.
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: Centers, it passed.
- 1:54:09Speaker 28: The governor then vetoed it. He vetoed that provision, which
- 1:54:14Speaker 28: removed the exemption, meaning that the sales tax exemption was
- 1:54:17Speaker 28: still in place. He vetoed it for several reasons, one
- 1:54:21Speaker 28: of which was that he said this is a small exemption.
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: Well, bullcrap.
- 1:54:26Speaker 11: Not costing that much.
- 1:54:27Speaker 8: Two billion.
- 1:54:28Speaker 7: I don't agree.
- 1:54:30Speaker 28: So here's the other reason why I'm fuming. I'm fuming
- 1:54:32Speaker 28: on a good number of reasons. But he vetoed because
- 1:54:35Speaker 28: he said it was small. That's number one. Number two,
- 1:54:38Speaker 28: he vetoed it because he said that we need them
- 1:54:41Speaker 28: in order to attract the data centers here.
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: Bullcrap. Bullcrap. Would you agree that that's total bullcrap?
- 1:54:48Speaker 11: Oh, completely.
- 1:54:49Speaker 28: And then three, he vetoed it because essentially this is
- 1:54:56Speaker 28: something that– uh, was, uh, uh, kind of given in
- 1:55:01Speaker 28: response or, or in the negotiation, like I said, with
- 1:55:04Speaker 28: some of our, our labor union.
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: Folks, I don't care. It's this is go ahead.
- 1:55:10Speaker 28: It's just, Oh, you're, you're, you're, you're speaking my language
- 1:55:14Speaker 28: right now. Um, so he vetoed it. Uh, the estimate
- 1:55:18Speaker 28: was about a $ 200 million loss of state tax revenue.
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: Totally wrong.
- 1:55:23Speaker 11: Yep.
- 1:55:24Speaker 28: Became back. Um, have been trying to get votes, whip votes,
- 1:55:28Speaker 28: to actually override that veto. We need 60 votes to override.
- 1:55:33Speaker 28: We have 65 Republicans.
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: Well, the Democrats should be for overriding it, too.
- 1:55:39Speaker 28: Actually, their minority leader came out strongly against overriding.
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: Oh, for the love of God.
- 1:55:45Speaker 28: No, we need this. This is a good exemption. So
- 1:55:49Speaker 28: we have not been able to get to those 60
- 1:55:51Speaker 28: votes to override. Now, Let's fast forward to last week.
- 1:55:58Speaker 28: Last week, the House and the Senate created a select
- 1:56:01Speaker 28: committee with the responsibility of drafting and having legislation ready
- 1:56:07Speaker 28: and passed by June 10th, which deals with a whole
- 1:56:10Speaker 28: host of issues with data centers. Things like electricity usage,
- 1:56:15Speaker 28: which we talked about, zoning, siting, noise, and one of
- 1:56:20Speaker 28: them is this tax issue. Now, today... the governor just
- 1:56:25Speaker 28: announced while we were, you messaged me and I was
- 1:56:28Speaker 28: in my caucus meeting while we were in caucus, we
- 1:56:31Speaker 28: found out that the governor is now putting essentially a
- 1:56:34Speaker 28: pause on the sales tax exemption for data centers because
- 1:56:40Speaker 28: of what came out last week. None of us were
- 1:56:44Speaker 28: aware of the actual cost and the amount that was
- 1:56:48Speaker 28: frankly hidden by the administration.
- 1:56:50Speaker 8: $ 2 billion.
- 1:56:51Speaker 31: Yes.
- 1:56:53Speaker 28: Until it was leaked to the news, we found out
- 1:56:55Speaker 28: the same way you did, by reading the newspaper and
- 1:56:59Speaker 28: by seeing it in the media, that the administration shared
- 1:57:02Speaker 28: it with them of how much it actually is costing
- 1:57:05Speaker 28: the taxpayers of Ohio, roughly $ 2 billion over that two-year cycle,
- 1:57:11Speaker 28: which is 10 times how much the administration told us
- 1:57:16Speaker 28: this would cost and what the exemption actually was.
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: So we are..
- 1:57:23Speaker 28: Not going to still likely be able to actually do
- 1:57:25Speaker 28: that override. What is likely going to happen in its place,
- 1:57:29Speaker 28: this bill that is going to be passed by June
- 1:57:32Speaker 28: 10th from the Select Committee on Data Centers, I've submitted
- 1:57:37Speaker 28: an amendment several years have as well to just completely
- 1:57:40Speaker 28: strip out that exemption. I think there's enough support as
- 1:57:43Speaker 28: a kind of package deal for there to be definitely
- 1:57:46Speaker 28: there's enough support over 50 votes just to take it out.
- 1:57:50Speaker 28: What's happened over the last week where no one knew,
- 1:57:53Speaker 28: and then it was released, and now he's essentially saying
- 1:57:56Speaker 28: he probably shouldn't have vetoed it, which is correct. This is,
- 1:58:00Speaker 28: first of all, I want to make sure.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: I understand this. So as a result of this... public
- 1:58:10Speaker 3: being informed that his decision screwed us out of $ 2 billion...
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: First time, I am really shocked by the Democrats because
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: the labor unions want it. The Democrats are forgiving big business,
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: this big tax break. I go back to say, I
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: got to pay the tax if I buy a lumbered
- 1:58:28Speaker 3: ad out of my garage and all the supplies. But
- 1:58:31Speaker 3: a data center, Facebook doesn't have to. Google doesn't have to.
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: These are companies that can easily afford it. Now, that alone...
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: is troubling to me. But we're talking $ 2 billion here
- 1:58:47Speaker 3: that could be money shifted back to the local government
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: fund or ease some of the burden on all of
- 1:58:54Speaker 3: us here. So the only reason you're saying he paused
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: this is because the public found out he screwed us
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: out of $ 2 billion. That's why he paused it. So
- 1:59:05Speaker 3: if it's paused, if that's okay with me, pause it
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: for the next whatever. Don't unpause it.
- 1:59:14Speaker 28: Yep, that's essentially what I'm hoping happens. He's positive. I'm
- 1:59:20Speaker 28: hoping that we codify that in the law to say, no,
- 1:59:23Speaker 28: these have to pay their full sales tax burden to
- 1:59:27Speaker 28: help offset. You know, $ 2 billion could have actually decreased
- 1:59:31Speaker 28: the income tax another half a percent statewide.
- 1:59:36Speaker 3: Or I always hear, we're not getting money back to
- 1:59:38Speaker 3: our local government fund. It could go back to our
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: local communities.
- 1:59:42Speaker 28: Whole handful of different things. And this is also, you know,
- 1:59:45Speaker 28: you and I have been talking a lot about data
- 1:59:47Speaker 28: centers can be very good if they're developed and help
- 1:59:50Speaker 28: offset costs to local communities. And we've been preaching that.
- 1:59:55Speaker 28: And I keep bringing up that we have to remove
- 1:59:57Speaker 28: this exemption. And same thing I'm asking local governments, don't
- 2:00:01Speaker 28: give them abatements, don't give them exemptions. But we at
- 2:00:04Speaker 28: the state level have been hypocritical because we've been giving exemptions.
- 2:00:08Speaker 28: And now we're actually seeing, even the day before this
- 2:00:11Speaker 28: was released, we... research looked up on Department of Taxation's website,
- 2:00:16Speaker 28: it was still estimated at $ 200 million.
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: What was that? Oh, the estimate's wrong. It's $ 2 billion.
- 2:00:24Speaker 15: Yes.
- 2:00:25Speaker 28: Now it's $ 2. 6 billion. $ 2 billion over two years, $ 1. 6
- 2:00:28Speaker 28: billion for this year. But the estimate that the governor
- 2:00:32Speaker 28: had and that was given to us at the legislature
- 2:00:34Speaker 28: is roughly $ 200 million for the loss of revenue.
- 2:00:38Speaker 7: All right.
- 2:00:39Speaker 3: So as a result of us finding out in belly aching,
- 2:00:45Speaker 3: he's paused. In other words, any data center that going
- 2:00:49Speaker 3: forward has to pay a sales tax, correct?
- 2:00:52Speaker 7: Correct.
- 2:00:53Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:00:54Speaker 3: And your legislation, you think you can get the votes
- 2:00:59Speaker 3: needed from the House and the Senate to totally do
- 2:01:05Speaker 3: away with this exemption if he would ever unpause it.
- 2:01:08Speaker 3: Is that correct? Correct.
- 2:01:11Speaker 28: The data center bill that's coming from the select committee,
- 2:01:14Speaker 28: we will definitely have the votes for. It's a matter
- 2:01:16Speaker 28: of what's in there. I'm pushing to have the full
- 2:01:18Speaker 28: removal of the exemption. I'm not sure how it's going
- 2:01:22Speaker 28: to actually get packaged and finalized. I'm not on the
- 2:01:25Speaker 28: select committee. But I think there's enough support to do that. So,
- 2:01:31Speaker 28: fingers crossed, hopefully we can just get it completely removed.
- 2:01:34Speaker 28: My guess is if it's not completely removed... there's some
- 2:01:37Speaker 28: type of kind of incentive thing where, Hey, you can.
- 2:01:40Speaker 3: Get, Oh no, it's got to go. It's no, I'm
- 2:01:44Speaker 3: not into compromising on this. It's, it's got to go.
- 2:01:48Speaker 3: You can't tell me how this is fair to any
- 2:01:50Speaker 3: citizen in Ohio or, or any local community that's getting
- 2:01:54Speaker 3: screwed under government fund period. I don't care if you're
- 2:01:57Speaker 3: a Democrat or Republican. I mean, this just, this reeks
- 2:02:01Speaker 3: of like that deal with house bill six. To me,
- 2:02:06Speaker 3: it's like, oh, this special thing carved out for these
- 2:02:08Speaker 3: data centers. Do you agree they want to be here?
- 2:02:11Speaker 3: We have the weather. We have the transmission lines. We're
- 2:02:15Speaker 3: not too hot. We're not too cold. We got the
- 2:02:16Speaker 3: right weather. We got the transmission lines. We're an ideal spot.
- 2:02:19Speaker 3: Would you agree?
- 2:02:21Speaker 11: We are perfect.
- 2:02:22Speaker 28: We are literally one of the best places.
- 2:02:24Speaker 3: So we don't have to give them any incentive on that.
- 2:02:26Speaker 3: Would you agree with that?
- 2:02:28Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:02:29Speaker 28: Absolutely.
- 2:02:30Speaker 3: Continue my cross-examining. I don't mean to make it sound.
- 2:02:34Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I'm not trying to try you here, but
- 2:02:38Speaker 3: I am, I guess.
- 2:02:40Speaker 19: You should be upset.
- 2:02:43Speaker 28: The folks who are listening right now should be upset
- 2:02:44Speaker 28: because this was hidden from us. This is something we've
- 2:02:47Speaker 28: been trying to do. And it's just another example of
- 2:02:51Speaker 28: the out-of-touchness that's been happening that we must get corrected now.
- 2:02:56Speaker 3: Right. I even thought I saw in here, this is
- 2:03:00Speaker 3: out of the trib, by the way, that I thought
- 2:03:05Speaker 3: I saw where some of them had gotten property tax abatement,
- 2:03:08Speaker 3: which just really gets me even more.
- 2:03:13Speaker 28: Each local community can decide kind of what that abatement
- 2:03:17Speaker 28: looks like.
- 2:03:17Speaker 7: If they give one, how much.
- 2:03:20Speaker 3: Well, I'm totally opposed to that.
- 2:03:22Speaker 11: Yes, I agree.
- 2:03:23Speaker 3: I mean, there's no reason to give a data center
- 2:03:27Speaker 3: a tax break, a property tax break either.
- 2:03:32Speaker 28: Yeah, because that's the perfect example of how one comes in.
- 2:03:35Speaker 28: They pay a good amount of taxes if they're fully taxed.
- 2:03:38Speaker 28: That amount of taxes helps lower your tax bill. It
- 2:03:41Speaker 28: helps offset.
- 2:03:43Speaker 7: It gives..
- 2:03:44Speaker 28: It gives actual breaks to people because it's the business paying,
- 2:03:47Speaker 28: not the individual.
- 2:03:48Speaker 3: Listen to this, State Rep. Dave Thomas. Republican lawmakers established
- 2:03:52Speaker 3: a tax exemption in the early 2010s to lure technology
- 2:03:56Speaker 3: companies to Ohio. The error predates the modern hyperscale of
- 2:04:00Speaker 3: electricity incentive data centers that facilitate the artificial intelligence. So
- 2:04:05Speaker 3: this goes back to 2010. Well, it's outdated, basically, and
- 2:04:09Speaker 3: that's why it should go. Use that in your argument.
- 2:04:13Speaker 3: I throw that to you for free.
- 2:04:15Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 2:04:15Speaker 28: I told this was like a pilot. It was like
- 2:04:18Speaker 28: a test case, and it just exploded. And even the
- 2:04:24Speaker 28: $ 200 million we thought was too much. That's why we
- 2:04:26Speaker 28: removed it.
- 2:04:26Speaker 3: So here's what I want you to do, Dave. Are
- 2:04:28Speaker 3: you ready? We're going to practice, okay? Are you ready?
- 2:04:33Speaker 3: We're going to practice mock trial. We're going to say
- 2:04:36Speaker 3: when these people, Republicans and Democrats, are giving you a
- 2:04:38Speaker 3: hard time, I want you to say, fellas, do you
- 2:04:41Speaker 3: think times have changed since 2010? Would you agree with that?
- 2:04:44Speaker 3: Then make them agree with it, okay, because times have
- 2:04:47Speaker 3: changed since 2010. Then do you think a tax exemption
- 2:04:51Speaker 3: put out in 2010 should be continuing today in 2026?
- 2:04:56Speaker 3: Make them commit to that and say, then we go
- 2:04:59Speaker 3: right into the data centers. There's nowhere that they can go,
- 2:05:02Speaker 3: you know what I mean? They'll be pleading guilty by
- 2:05:05Speaker 3: the time they're done.
- 2:05:07Speaker 28: Even this past year, I think.
- 2:05:11Speaker 3: I'm looking for the... Okay, are you ready for this?
- 2:05:18Speaker 3: A recent report from the Ohio Chamber of Commerce estimates...
- 2:05:22Speaker 3: data centers have received $ 2. 5 billion in public subsidies, including
- 2:05:27Speaker 3: local property tax abatements between 2017 and 2024. So I
- 2:05:33Speaker 3: know there's been what, in public subsidies. So including local,
- 2:05:42Speaker 3: the same report states that, the same report states they've
- 2:05:45Speaker 3: contributed $ 3. 7 billion towards Ohio's GDP if you include direct
- 2:05:50Speaker 3: and indirect inputs. Okay, great. But they would have done
- 2:05:53Speaker 3: it without any of this. Would you agree?
- 2:05:56Speaker 11: Yes.
- 2:05:57Speaker 28: Especially now. And that's part of the whole point. Like
- 2:06:00Speaker 28: you said, times have changed. We're now in a position
- 2:06:03Speaker 28: where we're a great place to be. We have the
- 2:06:06Speaker 28: infrastructure in place. We have the people now. Going back
- 2:06:10Speaker 28: to the labor union side, they are some of the
- 2:06:12Speaker 28: best at building them and the most kind of trained people.
- 2:06:16Speaker 28: So it's just another reason, you know, maybe that tax
- 2:06:19Speaker 28: credit was a good at one point.
- 2:06:22Speaker 3: In 2010, it might have been a good idea, but
- 2:06:24Speaker 3: it's 2026. Last time I checked, that was 16 years ago.
- 2:06:29Speaker 3: Times have changed. Would you agree?
- 2:06:32Speaker 28: Yeah, and times have changed even from 2025. When we
- 2:06:36Speaker 28: put this in the budget and it got vetoed, had
- 2:06:38Speaker 28: that happened today versus..
- 2:06:40Speaker 8: Radio 570, WKBN.
- 2:06:42Speaker 3: All right, Dave?
- 2:06:44Speaker 11: Yes, I'm still here, I think.
- 2:06:46Speaker 28: Although I'm a tab at Dave's, I'm walking by the
- 2:06:48Speaker 28: statehouse right now, and there's a drag queen protest happening
- 2:06:51Speaker 28: out front.
- 2:06:52Speaker 3: Oh, God. Oh, Jesus.
- 2:06:54Speaker 11: All right.
- 2:06:56Speaker 3: Here's a lady emailed me this, just a quick comment.
- 2:06:59Speaker 3: I don't know what you know. Ron, I thought I
- 2:07:01Speaker 3: heard this morning that Ohio Democrats are trying to up
- 2:07:04Speaker 3: taxes on people that make $ 500, 000 a year or more
- 2:07:07Speaker 3: so people can go to college for free. Will you
- 2:07:09Speaker 3: ask Dave about that? Have you heard anything about that?
- 2:07:12Speaker 28: Yes, that was a bill that was introduced just this
- 2:07:14Speaker 28: past week by two Democrats. It's considered a wealth tax,
- 2:07:18Speaker 28: and then they would give college away for free for
- 2:07:20Speaker 28: anyone in Ohio who wants it. Not happening, never going
- 2:07:25Speaker 28: to occur. The legislature is not increasing taxes on anybody.
- 2:07:29Speaker 28: But they're introducing a lot of bills right now just
- 2:07:32Speaker 28: for campaign purposes to be able to say, hey, I
- 2:07:35Speaker 28: have a bill that would do this, or I think
- 2:07:37Speaker 28: we should do this.
- 2:07:38Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:07:40Speaker 3: This whole fraud thing, though, I mean, this is blatant incompetence.
- 2:07:43Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sitting back as a citizen of Ohio
- 2:07:46Speaker 3: saying the tax break given here for the situation as
- 2:07:52Speaker 3: far as the sales tax is concerned with the data
- 2:07:55Speaker 3: centers is so frustrating. It's $ 2 billion, but the money
- 2:07:58Speaker 3: that was stolen by the Somalians. equally is frustrating in
- 2:08:01Speaker 3: how the DeWine administration has dealt with it. Do you
- 2:08:05Speaker 3: share my same frustration?
- 2:08:08Speaker 28: Me and the rest of the legislature on the Republican side, 100%.
- 2:08:11Speaker 28: If you have time, the Medicaid committee had a long
- 2:08:14Speaker 28: committee this morning from about 10.30 until about 2 p.m.
- 2:08:18Speaker 28: with Auditor Faber, with Attorney General, with a whole bunch
- 2:08:21Speaker 28: of different state organizations, talk about the fraud issue. And
- 2:08:24Speaker 28: that will be the basis of a reform bill that
- 2:08:27Speaker 28: we will pick up past by June 10th.
- 2:08:30Speaker 11: But it's funny.
- 2:08:30Speaker 28: One of the Democrats actually said, I don't think we
- 2:08:33Speaker 28: have a fraud issue here in Ohio. I think you're
- 2:08:36Speaker 28: overblowing all of this. So we're still combating even some
- 2:08:39Speaker 28: of that, which is just absolutely crazy.
- 2:08:41Speaker 7: All right.
- 2:08:43Speaker 3: Maybe tomorrow, if you've got time.
- 2:08:45Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 2:08:45Speaker 11: All right. Sounds good.
- 2:08:46Speaker 3: Thanks, Dave.
- 2:08:47Speaker 28: Thank you.
- 2:08:47Speaker 3: Appreciate it. State Rep. Dave Thomas, so the governor, because
- 2:08:50Speaker 3: of that bad news about the sales tax, has paused
- 2:08:53Speaker 3: all of that. Finally.
- 2:08:58Speaker 42: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. New concerns over stalled
- 2:09:03Speaker 42: talks between the U.S. and Iran. President Trump at a
- 2:09:06Speaker 42: cabinet meeting today says Iran wants to make a deal.
- 2:09:09Speaker 42: Iran state media, meantime, says Iranian leaders have sent a
- 2:09:12Speaker 42: memo to the U.S. that Iran would continue to patrol
- 2:09:15Speaker 42: the strait. ABC's Ian Pannell is in Israel and has
- 2:09:18Speaker 42: more on the sticking points.
- 2:09:19Speaker 40: The discussions that are ongoing right now is basically to
- 2:09:22Speaker 40: try and lift the siege of the Strait of Hormuz,
- 2:09:25Speaker 40: the restrictions put in place by Iran, and to allow
- 2:09:28Speaker 40: the U.S.
- 2:09:29Speaker 3: Naval blockade to be withdrawn.
- 2:09:31Speaker 40: What it doesn't resolve are the outstanding issues, the ones
- 2:09:34Speaker 40: that existed before, during the war, and throughout this ceasefire,
- 2:09:39Speaker 40: primarily Iran's nuclear program.
- 2:09:41Speaker 42: A 69-year-old Southern California man known for the display of
- 2:09:44Speaker 42: American flags and Make America Great Again memorabilia that he
- 2:09:48Speaker 42: kept in his front yard has died, authorities say, days
- 2:09:51Speaker 42: after being attacked and beaten outside his home last week.
- 2:09:54Speaker 42: Family members say Kerry George Sharon, as an Army veteran,
- 2:09:58Speaker 42: a defendant, 32-year-old Thomas Caleb Butler, served in the Navy
- 2:10:01Speaker 42: and police say was arrested. A motive remains unknown. In
- 2:10:05Speaker 42: Washington state, recovery efforts continue for paper mill employees missing
- 2:10:09Speaker 42: after a chemical tank rupture. in Longview, just south of Olympia.
- 2:10:13Speaker 42: Two others are confirmed dead. Nine are unaccounted for. Governor
- 2:10:17Speaker 42: Bob Ferguson says families and the community are in shock.
- 2:10:21Speaker 37: We're bracing ourselves for this being the deadliest industrial tragedy
- 2:10:26Speaker 37: in modern Washington state history. When you have a tragedy
- 2:10:29Speaker 37: of that scale, the impacts on individuals, on families, and
- 2:10:34Speaker 37: on communities is is profound.
- 2:10:36Speaker 42: The cause remains under investigation. The CDC has sent an
- 2:10:39Speaker 42: urgent request for its agency to recruit personnel to help
- 2:10:42Speaker 42: screen travelers coming from Central Africa for symptoms of Ebola.
- 2:10:46Speaker 42: Uganda has closed its border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- 2:10:50Speaker 42: A Google employee has been arrested over Google bets on
- 2:10:53Speaker 42: polymarket using confidential search information, authorities say. You're listening to
- 2:10:57Speaker 42: ABC News.
- 2:10:59Speaker 3: WKBN 605 News Radio 570 WKBN Wednesday, May 27th, 76 degrees.
- 2:11:06Speaker 3: callers be patients uh... i'm going to get to all
- 2:11:08Speaker 3: of you in just a minute g two going to
- 2:11:10Speaker 3: be with me till six thirty tonight as well correct
- 2:11:13Speaker 3: yes are you sure he seemed hesitant dot i.
- 2:11:18Speaker 11: Couldn't it's probably a little longer but i'm definitely until
- 2:11:20Speaker 11: six thirty and it just seems like there's just so
- 2:11:23Speaker 11: much to cover and it's astonishing that segment with dave
- 2:11:28Speaker 11: thomas that was fantastic because You know, here's a guy
- 2:11:32Speaker 11: that's actually getting on the radio and explaining what the
- 2:11:34Speaker 11: legislature is doing, where most of the time all you
- 2:11:35Speaker 11: get are, you know, odd talking points. That was extremely helpful.
- 2:11:40Speaker 11: And this revelation about this incredible problem with the data centers,
- 2:11:44Speaker 11: you know, there are industries that struggle to make economics
- 2:11:48Speaker 11: work for greenfield projects, and they need... sometimes some incentives.
- 2:11:53Speaker 11: And the best incentives, of course, are off-ramps to support
- 2:11:57Speaker 11: traffic for your trucks or maybe some rail service support,
- 2:12:00Speaker 11: something like that, right? Logistics, the things that are the
- 2:12:03Speaker 11: infrastructure that make it possible to build a new manufacturing
- 2:12:07Speaker 11: facility or whatnot. But more and more, we see ridiculously
- 2:12:11Speaker 11: unnecessary amounts going to companies that don't need them. I
- 2:12:14Speaker 11: would point immediately to the Intel Chips Act nonsense. We're
- 2:12:18Speaker 11: getting companies like Samsung, $ 6. 4 billion. Intel got... From the local, state,
- 2:12:23Speaker 11: and federal, like $ 4.
- 2:12:25Speaker 33: 4 billion?
- 2:12:27Speaker 11: And for what? So they could build new production capacity?
- 2:12:30Speaker 11: Now you've got this anthropic, it's worth $ 1. 4 trillion. And
- 2:12:35Speaker 11: this is a problem we're going to have to dig
- 2:12:37Speaker 11: into over the next couple of weeks. But this anthropic
- 2:12:40Speaker 11: valuation of $ 1. 4 trillion is based on nothing. They don't
- 2:12:43Speaker 11: have a revenue model that supports it. They don't have
- 2:12:45Speaker 11: a demand infrastructure, a demand level that supports it. The
- 2:12:50Speaker 11: only way that valuation works is if the entire economy
- 2:12:54Speaker 11: is repurposed and these people are holding the keys to
- 2:12:59Speaker 11: the limited access to AI. Now, you know that's not
- 2:13:03Speaker 11: going to be the case because AI is going to
- 2:13:05Speaker 11: be proliferated. And to your point about not needing..
- 2:13:09Speaker 5: Uh..
- 2:13:10Speaker 11: Incentives building these things anywhere they could find flat ground
- 2:13:14Speaker 11: they're using eminent domain to steal people's farms so the
- 2:13:18Speaker 11: trillion dollar companies and and the richest men in the
- 2:13:20Speaker 11: world can build these facilities and make more money and
- 2:13:24Speaker 11: they're taking away family farms that are hundreds of years
- 2:13:26Speaker 11: old and repurposing them as if this is in the
- 2:13:29Speaker 11: public good which is of course required when they use
- 2:13:33Speaker 11: eminent domain so they're chewing up farmland They then tune
- 2:13:37Speaker 11: up farmland for the power supply to get to these places.
- 2:13:39Speaker 11: Of course, they go to the rural areas because you've
- 2:13:41Speaker 11: got lower regulatory levels. You don't have the urban problem
- 2:13:45Speaker 11: with these corrupt governments in the cities. You don't have
- 2:13:47Speaker 11: to pay off the politicians with direct cash the way
- 2:13:50Speaker 11: you do in the big cities. And they don't have
- 2:13:53Speaker 11: the same level of fight. There just aren't enough people
- 2:13:55Speaker 11: to fight them. So they get these deals in and
- 2:13:57Speaker 11: get them done. And then the public finds out, and
- 2:14:00Speaker 11: they don't have any power because they don't have any numbers.
- 2:14:02Speaker 11: They don't have any organization or money. So this thing
- 2:14:06Speaker 11: has gone so far off the rails. Look, I use
- 2:14:09Speaker 11: AI every single day. So, yes, we're going to have AI.
- 2:14:13Speaker 11: But there has been no case put together that demonstrates
- 2:14:16Speaker 11: a need for the kind of build-out that we're going through.
- 2:14:19Speaker 11: And we're being told by people like Kevin O'Leary, we
- 2:14:21Speaker 11: have to bear the cost of this either through electric
- 2:14:24Speaker 11: and water costs or through that plus subscriptions through tax abatements.
- 2:14:29Speaker 11: Whatever way we have to bear it, we have to
- 2:14:31Speaker 11: bear it because him and his billionaire pals yet they
- 2:14:34Speaker 11: live for free on our backs. Now, that's insulting. Now,
- 2:14:38Speaker 11: the other problem with this AI, you know whose information
- 2:14:40Speaker 11: they're using? Everybody's. In other words, they're stealing our content
- 2:14:45Speaker 11: and data. If you make a post on a social
- 2:14:47Speaker 11: media platform, they're stealing that to use for themselves. If
- 2:14:50Speaker 11: you write a letter that goes online, if you send
- 2:14:53Speaker 11: an email, like in a place like Google, the surveillance system,
- 2:14:57Speaker 11: If you produce a book or a podcast or a
- 2:15:01Speaker 11: magazine article, anything you do, they take for free. Is
- 2:15:05Speaker 11: Anthropic going to pay you when they use the letter
- 2:15:08Speaker 11: to the editor that you wrote on Vindi.com? No, they're not.
- 2:15:14Speaker 11: So they're living off of us by sucking out our content.
- 2:15:16Speaker 11: They're taking our personal records, which for some reason our
- 2:15:19Speaker 11: government decided to put online. They're taking all of that.
- 2:15:24Speaker 11: And we get nothing back. Then we have to subsidize
- 2:15:27Speaker 11: it with tax abatements. Then we have to pay more
- 2:15:29Speaker 11: for water. Then we have to pay more for power.
- 2:15:31Speaker 11: Then we have to surrender our farmland, some of the
- 2:15:33Speaker 11: most fertile farmland in the world, so that these people
- 2:15:37Speaker 11: could put in centers that drive the most oppressive surveillance
- 2:15:41Speaker 11: system we can imagine. The average American, I don't think
- 2:15:45Speaker 11: we can understand the level of surveillance and oppression these
- 2:15:49Speaker 11: people are planning. You'd have to go listen to their
- 2:15:51Speaker 11: speeches at the World Economic Forum. Like the one a
- 2:15:54Speaker 11: few years ago when they said, listen, we think we
- 2:15:56Speaker 11: can get a bug to bite people and they'll be
- 2:15:58Speaker 11: allergic to red meat so we can get them to
- 2:15:59Speaker 11: stop eating red meat. Suddenly we got the lone star tick.
- 2:16:02Speaker 11: There's a direct correlation between what they say at Davos
- 2:16:05Speaker 11: and what happens in our lives. I'm telling you what
- 2:16:08Speaker 11: they're planning with these things is an oppressive surveillance state
- 2:16:12Speaker 11: of the kind that we've never imagined, maybe outside of
- 2:16:15Speaker 11: Fahrenheit 451 and and 1984, books like that. So I
- 2:16:22Speaker 11: think you're dead on, Target, when you say no subsidies.
- 2:16:25Speaker 11: In fact, I think if they're going to use your land, water,
- 2:16:27Speaker 11: and not only should they neutralize their impact on your cost,
- 2:16:30Speaker 11: they should be building their own power, not after they
- 2:16:33Speaker 11: need it, before they need it, and they should be
- 2:16:37Speaker 11: paying premiums. If you're going to go build in our town,
- 2:16:40Speaker 11: you should come up front with a cash deposit. Now,
- 2:16:42Speaker 11: there's one more point. Decommissioning. You know, when you go
- 2:16:47Speaker 11: out and build a mine, if you're going to build
- 2:16:48Speaker 11: a mine, you've got to have in place a remediation
- 2:16:51Speaker 11: plan that will restore that land to its natural condition
- 2:16:55Speaker 11: as best you can. It's obviously not going to return
- 2:16:57Speaker 11: a mountaintop to West Virginia, but it'll leave a flat
- 2:17:00Speaker 11: space that's been cleaned up and is planted and can
- 2:17:04Speaker 11: be green. These guys are building these things so fast.
- 2:17:09Speaker 11: Does anybody think that they're going to be used over
- 2:17:12Speaker 11: a 10-year period? They're going to build them, and they're
- 2:17:15Speaker 11: going to be outdated. There's an old thing called Moore's
- 2:17:17Speaker 11: Law they used to talk about all the time, how
- 2:17:19Speaker 11: computing power was growing exponentially. And so when you buy
- 2:17:23Speaker 11: a laptop, it's already outdated because the new chips are
- 2:17:26Speaker 11: already coming, right? So there's this constant drive for increased power,
- 2:17:29Speaker 11: increased performance, increased storage, increased capability. You think that's not
- 2:17:34Speaker 11: going to affect AI data centers? So they're building these
- 2:17:37Speaker 11: massive facilities... And in a few years, they may be empty,
- 2:17:42Speaker 11: rotting hulks, and they may have to go build another
- 2:17:44Speaker 11: new one, just like they replace their laptops every two years.
- 2:17:49Speaker 11: So we need remediation or decommissioning provisions in every contract
- 2:17:55Speaker 11: for every data center. If you stop using it, the
- 2:17:58Speaker 11: building has to be raised and a lot returned to
- 2:18:02Speaker 11: its normal state. Now, why raised? I suspect that some
- 2:18:05Speaker 11: of these buildings are going to be so custom that
- 2:18:08Speaker 11: that you're not going to be able to repurpose the building.
- 2:18:10Speaker 11: You're not going to take out a data center and
- 2:18:11Speaker 11: put in a food warehouse or a manufacturing facility or
- 2:18:14Speaker 11: anything else. I suspect that some of these are going
- 2:18:17Speaker 11: to be so customized that that's not going to work.
- 2:18:19Speaker 11: And then the volume. There are buildings so many, we
- 2:18:23Speaker 11: don't expect them to need this much volume, space, land,
- 2:18:27Speaker 11: and computing power in 10 years, right? Just like we
- 2:18:30Speaker 11: shrunk our phones, we shrunk our laptops, we shrunk everything.
- 2:18:33Speaker 11: These things are going to get smaller. They're going to
- 2:18:35Speaker 11: demand less water. There's good new technology developments around cooling.
- 2:18:39Speaker 11: They're going to require less. They're going to get smaller.
- 2:18:41Speaker 11: And so we're going to end up with these hulks
- 2:18:43Speaker 11: across the country with nobody to take them out because
- 2:18:47Speaker 11: we don't know the structure. Yes, it might be anthropic
- 2:18:50Speaker 11: that's paying for it, but who are they buying the
- 2:18:53Speaker 11: service from? Is it a supply agreement? Is it direct owned?
- 2:18:57Speaker 11: Because if it's a supply agreement from an anthropic subsidiary
- 2:19:00Speaker 11: through a sort of what might call a ring fence,
- 2:19:02Speaker 11: like an isolating legal structure, into another entity that then
- 2:19:08Speaker 11: owns and operates it, all they have to do is
- 2:19:11Speaker 11: break that contract or let it turn out, and then
- 2:19:14Speaker 11: that facility is unfunded. So who's going to own it,
- 2:19:17Speaker 11: and what's the remediation plan? How will you decommission this
- 2:19:20Speaker 11: facility and return that land to its prior state? So
- 2:19:26Speaker 11: the story has changed from, hey, we're going to build
- 2:19:28Speaker 11: a couple of more data centers. Now it's, we're going
- 2:19:31Speaker 11: to pave the planet in data centers. And if you
- 2:19:34Speaker 11: ask a question, all I have to say is one
- 2:19:36Speaker 11: word to stop you.
- 2:19:38Speaker 5: China.
- 2:19:39Speaker 11: Now, they don't tell us why China's a threat or
- 2:19:41Speaker 11: how the two compare or where we are versus them
- 2:19:44Speaker 11: or how this is going to save us. Just China,
- 2:19:46Speaker 11: live in fear. So, you know, that's where I think
- 2:19:53Speaker 11: we've gone with these things. They're so big, so common,
- 2:19:55Speaker 11: they're happening so fast, so many places. These local governments
- 2:19:59Speaker 11: are completely unprepared to deal with this, and something has
- 2:20:03Speaker 11: to be done. So I'm glad that Dave Thomas says
- 2:20:05Speaker 11: that they're putting together a working group or whatever he
- 2:20:08Speaker 11: called it, and that they're going to propose legislation to
- 2:20:10Speaker 11: begin handling this. Because I'm telling you, your average township
- 2:20:13Speaker 11: supervisor is not prepared to deal with Anthropic and Microsoft
- 2:20:19Speaker 11: and power contracts. and all these complexities of building this
- 2:20:24Speaker 11: kind of system.
- 2:20:24Speaker 3: Well, they actually wanted to go around any local control.
- 2:20:28Speaker 3: As I was reading, the federal government wanted to supersede
- 2:20:32Speaker 3: your local zoning and any local regulation that you would have.
- 2:20:36Speaker 3: They wanted to basically take the local community totally out
- 2:20:40Speaker 3: of it.
- 2:20:41Speaker 11: Well, if they do that, then all the contributions and
- 2:20:44Speaker 11: all the payoffs would just go to Congress. They wouldn't
- 2:20:46Speaker 11: have to share it with your local officials.
- 2:20:49Speaker 3: No, but I'm saying they didn't want zoning. They didn't
- 2:20:52Speaker 3: want anything to interfere with it, which is just a
- 2:20:55Speaker 3: crock of crap. The local community, that's where you live.
- 2:21:00Speaker 3: That's the purpose of your local officials, your local zoning,
- 2:21:04Speaker 3: and what have you, and to try to take that
- 2:21:07Speaker 3: out of the mix for a data center or anything.
- 2:21:10Speaker 3: is just flat out wrong. I want to go back
- 2:21:15Speaker 3: and ask you about this. So, incidentally, the governor today,
- 2:21:19Speaker 3: as a result of it coming out, that because of
- 2:21:21Speaker 3: his lack of sales tax on data centers purchasing the
- 2:21:26Speaker 3: materials to build them has cost the state $ 2 billion
- 2:21:30Speaker 3: because that information has come public. And by God, we
- 2:21:34Speaker 3: make it public. What a coincidence. as we're bellyaching about
- 2:21:38Speaker 3: it this afternoon, he decides we're going to pause this program.
- 2:21:43Speaker 3: And justly so that he puts it on pause today
- 2:21:48Speaker 3: because the information's out there and we're bellyaching about it,
- 2:21:51Speaker 3: as we should be. And then Dave Thomas has championed
- 2:21:55Speaker 3: this so that it can't be unpaused, which I agree
- 2:21:59Speaker 3: with him there. But I want to go back to
- 2:22:02Speaker 3: use AI centers are going to happen today. And you're
- 2:22:06Speaker 3: saying you're concerned about the surveillance state that they will create.
- 2:22:13Speaker 3: Explain to people why you're concerned about what you think
- 2:22:18Speaker 3: they will bring.
- 2:22:20Speaker 11: So the whole purpose of these things is to compile
- 2:22:23Speaker 11: all the data on all of us, right? And whether
- 2:22:25Speaker 11: it be for commercial purposes or other purposes, it doesn't matter.
- 2:22:28Speaker 11: But if you ask Grok to go out and create
- 2:22:32Speaker 11: an image, it goes out and searches the Internet for
- 2:22:34Speaker 11: other images and then mimics those. And so they're constantly
- 2:22:39Speaker 11: tapping into our data. And What the goal here is
- 2:22:44Speaker 11: is that you will have a wearable device on your
- 2:22:46Speaker 11: arm that will transmit your health data in real time
- 2:22:49Speaker 11: to an AI data center. And it'll be not just
- 2:22:52Speaker 11: cataloging this. So HIPAA, gone. Because the billionaires that got
- 2:22:57Speaker 11: you to buy that stupid watch now own your health
- 2:23:00Speaker 11: care data. And from one of these surveillance watches like
- 2:23:03Speaker 11: an Apple Watch, they can tell your heart rate when
- 2:23:05Speaker 11: you're excited, when you're not, when you're moving, when you're sedentary.
- 2:23:08Speaker 11: And they measure and quantify all of that. they're going
- 2:23:11Speaker 11: to be able to build a profile on us that
- 2:23:13Speaker 11: is incredibly detailed. That's going to take a huge amount
- 2:23:16Speaker 11: of capacity. Then they can use that data to market
- 2:23:19Speaker 11: drugs to you, to recommend you go somewhere and buy something. Or,
- 2:23:25Speaker 11: in the case of another COVID, to turn to the
- 2:23:27Speaker 11: government and say, this person has a fever. So you
- 2:23:31Speaker 11: should go pick them up and put them in a camp. Now,
- 2:23:33Speaker 11: you'd think that's silly if you forgot that in Australia...
- 2:23:37Speaker 11: During the lockdowns, they were literally doing that. The Army
- 2:23:40Speaker 11: would come out and pick people up and take them
- 2:23:41Speaker 11: to camps if they were suspected of being infected, even
- 2:23:45Speaker 11: if they showed no symptoms. So, you know, hey, go.
- 2:23:49Speaker 19: Get this person.
- 2:23:50Speaker 11: They're showing some symptoms or we have some reason to believe.
- 2:23:53Speaker 11: They're going to listen. They want your car to listen
- 2:23:55Speaker 11: to every single word you say, monitor your eye movements
- 2:23:58Speaker 11: and your body functions, and surveil that and report it
- 2:24:02Speaker 11: back in real time. Now, you're going to have to
- 2:24:05Speaker 11: buy a car and pay for this technology, but that's
- 2:24:08Speaker 11: one of the reasons they got rid of Massey, because
- 2:24:11Speaker 11: he was fighting that. So, you know, the idea would
- 2:24:16Speaker 11: be that they monitor every element of your home, your car,
- 2:24:19Speaker 11: and your body. They're going to monitor every word you
- 2:24:22Speaker 11: utter and every word you type, every comment you make,
- 2:24:25Speaker 11: and they're going to know everything about you. Now, you
- 2:24:29Speaker 11: want to disagree with the government?
- 2:24:30Speaker 27: No.
- 2:24:30Speaker 11: You know how it works in China, man. You've got
- 2:24:32Speaker 11: to get a pass to move from one part of
- 2:24:34Speaker 11: a city to another. In many cases, you have to
- 2:24:37Speaker 11: have a pass to get on a bus, and you're
- 2:24:39Speaker 11: refused if you don't have the right social credit score.
- 2:24:42Speaker 11: All of the things that China's doing and India's doing
- 2:24:45Speaker 11: are what is envisioned for us. We will all have
- 2:24:48Speaker 11: a digital ID. All of our interactions with the government
- 2:24:50Speaker 11: will be based on that idea. And then all of
- 2:24:53Speaker 11: our interactions with everything will be based on that ID.
- 2:24:55Speaker 11: And we will be surveilled to a level we can't imagine.
- 2:24:58Speaker 11: You got some wrong thinking? Look what they tried to
- 2:25:01Speaker 11: do during the Biden administration. You think wrong? And you
- 2:25:05Speaker 11: can hear people now. They talk about anti-Semitism on Fox
- 2:25:08Speaker 11: News about every 15 minutes. You'd think it's all there
- 2:25:11Speaker 11: is going on in this country. There are people that
- 2:25:13Speaker 11: put in laws that say if you criticize Israel, you
- 2:25:15Speaker 11: should go to jail. In Canada, in England, in these
- 2:25:19Speaker 11: other countries, if you put up a post that's critical
- 2:25:22Speaker 11: of the government, you go to jail. I've diagnosed this
- 2:25:26Speaker 11: many times, but a guy in England complained that his
- 2:25:29Speaker 11: daughter was raped by a migrant. He got, I think,
- 2:25:35Speaker 11: two years in jail for that. So we're moving into
- 2:25:39Speaker 11: a state where we create this concept called hate speech,
- 2:25:43Speaker 11: and your speech is going to be monitored all the time.
- 2:25:46Speaker 11: And you will be serving time or be fined or
- 2:25:48Speaker 11: get a lower credit score if you're saying the wrong things.
- 2:25:51Speaker 11: That's what I'm talking about. The amount of computing power
- 2:25:54Speaker 11: they're building is not to make sure you have good
- 2:25:57Speaker 11: directions to get to your vacation rental. The kind of
- 2:26:01Speaker 11: capacity they're building is to surveil every aspect of your life.
- 2:26:05Speaker 3: Don't you think they're doing a lot of that currently?
- 2:26:07Speaker 3: I mean, with your cell phone, with anything you Google, with,
- 2:26:11Speaker 3: I mean, they know so much about you. I think
- 2:26:13Speaker 3: it would be alarming to people how much they know
- 2:26:16Speaker 3: about you, your age, medications you're on. I think they
- 2:26:22Speaker 3: know so much about you now. From a marketing standpoint,
- 2:26:26Speaker 3: it's unbelievable.
- 2:26:28Speaker 11: Yeah, but it's kind of, yes, that's true, but it's
- 2:26:30Speaker 11: somewhat in the early stages. So Google, for instance, queried
- 2:26:34Speaker 11: the U.S. government and used to write a FOIA request
- 2:26:38Speaker 11: to try to get all of our health care data.
- 2:26:40Speaker 11: And they said, you could take off the identifying information.
- 2:26:43Speaker 11: We just need to know what number of people in
- 2:26:46Speaker 11: what area, you know, like we just need the overall data.
- 2:26:49Speaker 11: We don't need the ID so you can respect HIPAA.
- 2:26:52Speaker 11: The reason Google could use just the information and not
- 2:26:54Speaker 11: the names is because they're tracking your location through Google Maps.
- 2:26:59Speaker 11: So they know if you go to an oncology center
- 2:27:01Speaker 11: four times in a certain number of weeks, you or
- 2:27:03Speaker 11: someone in your family is having cancer problems. So they said,
- 2:27:08Speaker 11: we can match up the data from the government with
- 2:27:10Speaker 11: our Google Maps data, and we'll know who they are,
- 2:27:13Speaker 11: and then we can start marketing to them.
- 2:27:14Speaker 3: Exactly right. We can hit them with a commercial because
- 2:27:18Speaker 3: we know they're going in Home Depot. We hit them
- 2:27:20Speaker 3: with a Lowe's commercial or something along those lines. Standby, G2,
- 2:27:24Speaker 3: NewsRadio 570, WKBN, and Ron Verbe with you until 7 tonight.
- 2:27:28Speaker 3: It's Wednesday, May 27th at 76 degrees. Ron Verbe from
- 2:27:31Speaker 3: the Kingdom of Mahoning. Stay tuned.
- 2:27:35Speaker 1: Today, News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 2:27:38Speaker 3: And Ron Verb back with G2. You mentioned something else
- 2:27:41Speaker 3: that I want to lay on you and get you
- 2:27:44Speaker 3: to elaborate a little bit more on. And it has
- 2:27:47Speaker 3: to do with, and I once was talking about a book,
- 2:27:50Speaker 3: the Lyme disease came from an area by a government biolab,
- 2:27:56Speaker 3: if you will, in New York. It was in islands, okay,
- 2:28:00Speaker 3: that's where they were working on ticks with Lyme disease.
- 2:28:05Speaker 3: You follow me?
- 2:28:06Speaker 11: From island, yeah.
- 2:28:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, and so, and they felt this was
- 2:28:10Speaker 3: safe because it was an island and the ticks couldn't
- 2:28:13Speaker 3: get off of there. They didn't anticipate the deer would
- 2:28:16Speaker 3: swim or the birds would fly and take the ticks elsewhere.
- 2:28:21Speaker 3: That's why it's called Lyme disease, because it's around, I think,
- 2:28:26Speaker 3: the areas Lyme, New York, or whatever it is. It's
- 2:28:29Speaker 3: named after that area.
- 2:28:31Speaker 11: I think it was called Plum Island, and of course
- 2:28:34Speaker 11: they denied this, but it was called Plum Island, and
- 2:28:37Speaker 11: it was being developed as a weapon because they thought...
- 2:28:40Speaker 11: onto a battlefield. We could take out the enemy without
- 2:28:43Speaker 11: having to get in and damage the infrastructure.
- 2:28:46Speaker 22: Right.
- 2:28:46Speaker 3: I mean, this is how moronic these people are. This
- 2:28:49Speaker 3: is how frightening these labs are, because we'll drop that
- 2:28:53Speaker 3: on the enemy, forgetting that, well, these bugs aren't going
- 2:28:57Speaker 3: to go away once they infect the enemy. They're just
- 2:29:00Speaker 3: going to multiply, and it's going to become a big problem.
- 2:29:02Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. So, That's the origins of Lyme
- 2:29:07Speaker 3: disease as well as, I believe, Rocky Mountain spotted fever
- 2:29:10Speaker 3: that created in a lab, these bio labs for these purposes,
- 2:29:16Speaker 3: and it got out. Just a quick answer. Do you
- 2:29:20Speaker 3: agree with that? Because I do.
- 2:29:22Speaker 11: Yeah, I think that's happened a lot, and I think
- 2:29:24Speaker 11: that's why we went from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency
- 2:29:29Speaker 11: or DITRA, which was decommissioning biolabs, to having biolabs all
- 2:29:34Speaker 11: over Ukraine and then all over the world doing this
- 2:29:37Speaker 11: kind of work to determine if these diseases could be
- 2:29:40Speaker 11: used as weapons. And then, of course, you've got the
- 2:29:43Speaker 11: Bill Gates and others doing things like genetically modifying mosquitoes
- 2:29:47Speaker 11: and this bizarre work that's going on, all of which
- 2:29:51Speaker 11: spells doom for us.
- 2:29:52Speaker 3: Right. So let's back up. So just talking about Rocky
- 2:29:56Speaker 3: Mountain spotted fever. And incidentally, you know, I had a
- 2:29:59Speaker 3: cousin who died from that, of Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
- 2:30:02Speaker 3: He got bit by a tick and died from Rocky
- 2:30:05Speaker 3: Mountain spotted fever. And we're hearing all about ticks and
- 2:30:10Speaker 3: Lyme disease in our community. But all of a sudden,
- 2:30:14Speaker 3: you had all these people, and I want you to
- 2:30:16Speaker 3: elaborate on this. Bill Gates talking about how we shouldn't
- 2:30:20Speaker 3: be eating meat and all this stuff. And lo and behold,
- 2:30:22Speaker 3: out of nowhere comes this new tick that if it
- 2:30:27Speaker 3: bites you, you'll never eat meat again. Just talk about that.
- 2:30:32Speaker 3: We were talking about Davos in this. I want you
- 2:30:34Speaker 3: to elaborate on that.
- 2:30:36Speaker 11: All right, so a member of the World Economic Forum
- 2:30:39Speaker 11: or a presenter at their Davos retreat a few years
- 2:30:42Speaker 11: ago sat and said, you know, again, climate, everything's about
- 2:30:46Speaker 11: CO2 because these people are still selling the idea that
- 2:30:48Speaker 11: CO2 is a problem. So CO2 is a problem. We
- 2:30:51Speaker 11: have to reduce that. Cattle create CO2. We would like
- 2:30:55Speaker 11: people to switch to lab-grown meats, which we can control,
- 2:30:58Speaker 11: then even, you know, what goes in their bodies entirely.
- 2:31:01Speaker 11: And so what we want to do is get them
- 2:31:03Speaker 11: to stop eating red meat. We could do that with
- 2:31:05Speaker 11: a disease. If we create a disease that makes them
- 2:31:07Speaker 11: allergic to red meat, they will stop eating it. And
- 2:31:10Speaker 11: a couple of years later, we've got Lone Star Tick
- 2:31:12Speaker 11: news all over the media talking about how if you
- 2:31:16Speaker 11: get bit, you will not any longer be able to
- 2:31:19Speaker 11: eat meat. And people are saying, yeah, I got it,
- 2:31:22Speaker 11: you know. So it's another problem that we didn't have
- 2:31:26Speaker 11: in 19, I don't know, and the incredible level of
- 2:31:36Speaker 11: other diseases that we're having that we just didn't have before.
- 2:31:40Speaker 11: And suddenly, we have them everywhere.
- 2:31:42Speaker 3: But here's Gates talking about, we've got to stop eating
- 2:31:44Speaker 3: meat and make manufactured meat. And if you get bit
- 2:31:47Speaker 3: by this tick, some people, they say, if you drive
- 2:31:49Speaker 3: by a Burger King and smell a burger's been cooked,
- 2:31:52Speaker 3: you get sick. You'll get ill. That's how much you
- 2:31:55Speaker 3: can't eat this. But out of nowhere, all of a sudden,
- 2:31:58Speaker 3: these people that are talking about making you a vegetarian,
- 2:32:01Speaker 3: this tick materializes. You can't tell me that that wasn't
- 2:32:05Speaker 3: made in a lab by these wackos for that purpose,
- 2:32:08Speaker 3: which is something we have to be concerned about in
- 2:32:11Speaker 3: our community now.
- 2:32:13Speaker 11: Absolutely. And these guys aren't done. You know, the the
- 2:32:17Speaker 11: contrails that are now chemtrails. I was going to send
- 2:32:19Speaker 11: you a text last night and say, hey, aren't that
- 2:32:21Speaker 11: a nice show? Because you were talking about chemtrails and
- 2:32:25Speaker 11: things like this.
- 2:32:27Speaker 3: Stand by.
- 2:32:27Speaker 11: We haven't had these problems before.
- 2:32:29Speaker 3: Stand by. All right. With G2, General Jameson, probably.
- 2:32:34Speaker 8: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 2:32:37Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:32:37Speaker 3: It's 634 News Radio 570 WKBN and Ron Furb back
- 2:32:40Speaker 3: to it. 76 degrees on this Wednesday evening with G2
- 2:32:45Speaker 3: on the other line. I mean, if you sit back
- 2:32:47Speaker 3: and think about some of the stuff that's going on,
- 2:32:49Speaker 3: we know where the origins of COVID. We know how
- 2:32:52Speaker 3: we were lied to about it. We know the cover
- 2:32:55Speaker 3: up that took place. We know that's. No one's been
- 2:32:57Speaker 3: held accountable from Fauci to China or anyone. We know
- 2:33:00Speaker 3: that people died as a result of it and died
- 2:33:03Speaker 3: alone without their family members there. We know the effects
- 2:33:06Speaker 3: of the shot and the cover-up that has taken place there.
- 2:33:09Speaker 3: It's sheer evil when it comes to those situations. And
- 2:33:13Speaker 3: we know about the lying of the biolabs in the Ukraine.
- 2:33:16Speaker 3: We sit back in a corrupt country. We say, why
- 2:33:18Speaker 3: would we ever fund a biolab in, of all places, China?
- 2:33:23Speaker 3: that can't stand us. Then we take a look at
- 2:33:25Speaker 3: this stuff going on with ticks, whether it's Lyme disease
- 2:33:29Speaker 3: or whether it's this, all of a sudden you get
- 2:33:31Speaker 3: bit and you hate meat. And you sit back and
- 2:33:34Speaker 3: you look at all of this and you think of
- 2:33:36Speaker 3: the evil that's out in the world that can change
- 2:33:39Speaker 3: your life and your health so damn quickly by just
- 2:33:45Speaker 3: these evil things Just these evil people. Then you talk
- 2:33:49Speaker 3: about the data centers and the good that comes from them,
- 2:33:53Speaker 3: but the evil that can come from them as far
- 2:33:56Speaker 3: as the surveillance states, digital currencies being able to track
- 2:34:00Speaker 3: you and turn off your money and know basically everything
- 2:34:04Speaker 3: about you. That's that's that's coming or the federal government,
- 2:34:09Speaker 3: as I mentioned, you trying to say we're going to
- 2:34:11Speaker 3: circumvent local governments when it comes to zoning and that's
- 2:34:14Speaker 3: in that type of stuff. All of this is so
- 2:34:16Speaker 3: troubling when you sit back. It's hard to imagine for
- 2:34:19Speaker 3: a lot of people to absorb all of this. And
- 2:34:22Speaker 3: it is Art Bell like, but it's but this is real.
- 2:34:27Speaker 3: We always dismiss things, conspiracy theory. Well, no, it's not
- 2:34:30Speaker 3: a conspiracy theory. We see the replacement theory going on
- 2:34:33Speaker 3: in not just the United States, but in these other countries.
- 2:34:36Speaker 3: As you said, you won't recognize Ireland. You won't recognize
- 2:34:40Speaker 3: these places because this global initiative of bringing all these
- 2:34:43Speaker 3: people into a country to basically change the entire makeup
- 2:34:47Speaker 3: of the country, correct?
- 2:34:49Speaker 11: Absolutely. It is exactly the same people that are saying
- 2:34:52Speaker 11: we have to reduce our population by 6 billion people
- 2:34:56Speaker 11: who are building the data centers and doing all this
- 2:34:58Speaker 11: lab research on mosquitoes. It's the same people. And the
- 2:35:03Speaker 11: point you're highlighting, I think, above all is that we
- 2:35:05Speaker 11: have to remember we are a world at war. And
- 2:35:08Speaker 11: I'm not talking about Iran, although I'd like to get
- 2:35:10Speaker 11: into that in more detail. I heard what you played earlier.
- 2:35:12Speaker 11: I'm not talking about Iran. I'm talking about the war
- 2:35:15Speaker 11: for the survival of Western civilization. This is the civilization
- 2:35:19Speaker 11: that ended slavery. This is the civilization that established property rights.
- 2:35:23Speaker 11: This is the civilization that allowed free people to be
- 2:35:26Speaker 11: prosperous and safe and secure. It's never happened before. And
- 2:35:31Speaker 11: they're trying everything they can try to tear it down.
- 2:35:33Speaker 11: And all across Western civilization, which I include Japan, I
- 2:35:35Speaker 11: include Australia, obviously, not in the West. I include New Zealand,
- 2:35:40Speaker 11: even South Korea. They're trying to tear that down everywhere
- 2:35:43Speaker 11: and replace it with this evil feudalist system where we
- 2:35:47Speaker 11: are nothing but peasants, nothing but, they call them eaters,
- 2:35:51Speaker 11: that are to be handled like cattle. And to be
- 2:35:55Speaker 11: a cult. They want the herd cult. Remember, Bill Gates
- 2:35:57Speaker 11: got thrown out of India at one point because he
- 2:36:00Speaker 11: ran a vaccine experiment that sterilized, I want to say
- 2:36:03Speaker 11: 500,000 girls, but people could check it out and make sure.
- 2:36:06Speaker 11: I don't know what, it's been a long time. But
- 2:36:09Speaker 11: he ran a a test calling it medicine, and they
- 2:36:13Speaker 11: had all these girls that were sterilized, couldn't reproduce.
- 2:36:18Speaker 3: As a side note, there was a person who was
- 2:36:21Speaker 3: expressing to me their daughter was having a difficult time
- 2:36:24Speaker 3: getting pregnant, and guess what one of the first questions
- 2:36:27Speaker 3: they were asked, the fertility people asked her.
- 2:36:32Speaker 11: Did you get the Fauci shot?
- 2:36:34Speaker 3: Exactly right.
- 2:36:35Speaker 19: Absolutely.
- 2:36:36Speaker 11: So this is real evil. What we're looking at here
- 2:36:40Speaker 11: is raw, exposed evil, darkness. And the only thing that
- 2:36:46Speaker 11: can stand up to it is the American people. It's
- 2:36:49Speaker 11: just us. And this propaganda problem, and it goes back
- 2:36:52Speaker 11: to that comment from the guy on CNBC about oil,
- 2:36:55Speaker 11: we are being bombarded with messages all the time that
- 2:36:58Speaker 11: are just nonsense. I've been paying close attention to what
- 2:37:01Speaker 11: some of the larger social media accounts are posting. It's
- 2:37:04Speaker 11: often just ridiculous on its face, but when you see
- 2:37:07Speaker 11: it from one, you see it from three or four
- 2:37:09Speaker 11: or five, and all of a sudden it's true. And
- 2:37:12Speaker 11: people aren't questioning some of that stuff, even though it
- 2:37:15Speaker 11: might not have any sourcing or explicit data in the post.
- 2:37:19Speaker 11: We're being bombarded constantly with propaganda from all sides on
- 2:37:23Speaker 11: all platforms. And it is a tremendous chore to try
- 2:37:27Speaker 11: to work through that and discern what's true and false
- 2:37:30Speaker 11: or what's reasonable and unreasonable and what i should be
- 2:37:32Speaker 11: doing and what i should be thinking that's why i
- 2:37:35Speaker 11: love this show because this is a place where we
- 2:37:37Speaker 11: can have these arguments it's fabulous but that's very rare
- 2:37:41Speaker 11: and so And so I think we have to keep
- 2:37:44Speaker 11: in mind that this is a war. Now, we can't
- 2:37:46Speaker 11: get filled with despair. You know, evil wins some days,
- 2:37:49Speaker 11: and other days evil loses. And we've had victories and defeats,
- 2:37:53Speaker 11: and we're going to have more victories and defeats, but
- 2:37:55Speaker 11: this war is not decided. It is up to us
- 2:37:58Speaker 11: to decide the outcome of this war. And another thing
- 2:38:01Speaker 11: that's happening, of course, is we are being divided. You know,
- 2:38:05Speaker 11: this thing about the boomers versus the Versus the Gen X.
- 2:38:09Speaker 11: You and I know that's real. We've talked about it
- 2:38:11Speaker 11: at length on this show. They're real intergenerational stresses. All right,
- 2:38:15Speaker 11: what about blacks versus white and Chinese versus Indian and
- 2:38:18Speaker 11: all that? Listen, we're being divided. There are real and
- 2:38:21Speaker 11: legitimate arguments that we have among various populations. Islamists versus Christians.
- 2:38:27Speaker 11: The Christians are being slaughtered all over the world, right?
- 2:38:29Speaker 11: So that's a real fight, and we have to recognize
- 2:38:32Speaker 11: real fights. But we also have to recognize when we're
- 2:38:35Speaker 11: being divided to weaken us, especially headed into these midterms.
- 2:38:40Speaker 11: So what I'm saying is we've got to really plant
- 2:38:42Speaker 11: our feet. We have to think clearly. We have to
- 2:38:44Speaker 11: argue with our friends about the important issues until we
- 2:38:47Speaker 11: get to what makes most sense. We have to tear
- 2:38:49Speaker 11: these things apart and listen and think them through. And
- 2:38:52Speaker 11: we can't accept what comes on TV, even if it's
- 2:38:55Speaker 11: from Fox. So it's a tremendously challenging time to be
- 2:39:01Speaker 11: a citizen, but we have to step up, because if
- 2:39:03Speaker 11: we don't, what we leave behind for our children is
- 2:39:06Speaker 11: going to be a disaster.
- 2:39:07Speaker 3: With G2 News Radio 570 WQE, I now want to
- 2:39:10Speaker 3: shift to the oil situation and the war situation. And
- 2:39:15Speaker 3: I was recording a Rockport Financial show earlier today, which
- 2:39:20Speaker 3: airs Monday night at 6. Interesting conversation I had there.
- 2:39:24Speaker 3: And we were talking about inflation, which we were looking
- 2:39:29Speaker 3: at second quarter, maybe 4%, maybe 6% inflation. Significant increase
- 2:39:36Speaker 3: in inflation. Anyway, that'll be Monday. But Dalio, and I'm
- 2:39:40Speaker 3: trying to think of some of the other... Peter Schiff
- 2:39:45Speaker 3: always is talking about an economic meltdown, so he's one
- 2:39:48Speaker 3: of them. But anyway, they're talking about basically an oil
- 2:39:54Speaker 3: shortage is going on. I listen to these people that
- 2:39:58Speaker 3: are in that industry. You follow me? I mean, I
- 2:40:01Speaker 3: don't follow the oil supply like they do, these analysts,
- 2:40:05Speaker 3: and saying, listen, this is a lot worse than anybody's
- 2:40:08Speaker 3: telling you because there's a shortage of oil going on
- 2:40:11Speaker 3: because how much is reduced? and depleting these oil reserves,
- 2:40:15Speaker 3: whether it's in China or here, getting the price down. Basically,
- 2:40:19Speaker 3: they're saying this whole damn thing is a mess that
- 2:40:23Speaker 3: he got us involved in, and it can become a
- 2:40:26Speaker 3: huge economic mess real quick around July.
- 2:40:29Speaker 11: So there are a few things. First of all, a
- 2:40:32Speaker 11: lot of these financial people are talking their book, right?
- 2:40:35Speaker 11: So when these guys get on and talk about how
- 2:40:37Speaker 11: bad a certain market is, And then a few days later,
- 2:40:39Speaker 11: they come back and say, boy, it's changed. It's all
- 2:40:41Speaker 11: turned around. I got new facts. Many times, because they've
- 2:40:44Speaker 11: shortened an industry, they want to cover their short, then
- 2:40:46Speaker 11: they want to go long. Bill Ackman made $ 2. 4 billion
- 2:40:52Speaker 11: in 24 hours appearing on CNBC.
- 2:40:54Speaker 3: But they're not all that way. Sometimes these are guys.
- 2:40:58Speaker 11: I'm laying the caution, right?
- 2:40:59Speaker 5: That's right.
- 2:41:00Speaker 11: They're not all like that. Now, on the oil industry specifically,
- 2:41:03Speaker 11: we have to remember that humans solve problems. This is
- 2:41:05Speaker 11: a problem that's 60 days old. So what are the solutions? Well,
- 2:41:08Speaker 11: we're seeing increased production from Russia, from the United States,
- 2:41:11Speaker 11: and from others, right? I'm not saying what they're saying
- 2:41:14Speaker 11: is invalid. I'm saying they're mitigating factors. Audi opens a pipeline,
- 2:41:17Speaker 11: 7 million barrels returned to the market. UAE increases production,
- 2:41:22Speaker 11: opens up a pipeline. I think that pipeline was 1.5
- 2:41:25Speaker 11: barrels a day, 1.5 million a day. I can't remember.
- 2:41:28Speaker 11: But we are seeing nations that are producers, like Brazil,
- 2:41:33Speaker 11: we see nations that are now at these higher prices,
- 2:41:35Speaker 11: even if they're inefficient, they're pumping more oil. So there's
- 2:41:37Speaker 11: a mitigating factor. Now, you've got these big reserves, like
- 2:41:42Speaker 11: the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve and the huge reserve that
- 2:41:45Speaker 11: China had. But remember, China was somewhere between 100 and
- 2:41:48Speaker 11: 120 days, right? But it takes about 30 days to
- 2:41:51Speaker 11: refill the pipeline. Let's just say 30. You could argue
- 2:41:54Speaker 11: 40 or whatever. Okay, let's say 30. That means they
- 2:41:57Speaker 11: basically go from 120, if you take the high end,
- 2:41:59Speaker 11: down to 90. And they burn through some of that
- 2:42:03Speaker 11: because they are wholly dependent upon imports. They only make
- 2:42:05Speaker 11: about 4 million barrels a day out of their own fields.
- 2:42:08Speaker 11: So that's a country that everybody's looking at and saying, man,
- 2:42:11Speaker 11: look how they're sitting pretty. The clock is ticking, and
- 2:42:15Speaker 11: I guarantee you they are in emergency mode up there
- 2:42:17Speaker 11: in China. Now, that's a good fact. Because Iran, this
- 2:42:22Speaker 11: comment that Iran is winning, I'm hearing it all day,
- 2:42:24Speaker 11: every day, Iran is winning, Iran is winning. No, they're not.
- 2:42:27Speaker 11: They've lost 16,000 military targets. They've got no ability to
- 2:42:33Speaker 11: export crude now, right, because of the blockade, unless Trump
- 2:42:36Speaker 11: has opened that, and I haven't seen notice that he has.
- 2:42:39Speaker 11: So they aren't shipping. They're losing $ 400 million to $ 500 million.
- 2:42:42Speaker 7: A day in revenue.
- 2:42:45Speaker 11: Their customer, China, needs pressure, right? So they're going to
- 2:42:49Speaker 11: China and saying, hey, what kind of support can we
- 2:42:51Speaker 11: get for you? Of course, China's going to play this
- 2:42:54Speaker 11: out for their own advantage. They're going to play the
- 2:42:56Speaker 11: Trump administration to try to get benefits to help out.
- 2:42:59Speaker 11: But in the end, Iran does not stand alone. Without China,
- 2:43:03Speaker 11: it's broken. I'm just saying there has not yet been
- 2:43:06Speaker 11: a culture created that doesn't depend on economic vitality. And
- 2:43:12Speaker 11: their economics are being really just hammered with this shutdown.
- 2:43:18Speaker 11: So it's not a one-sided fight. Our side has had
- 2:43:20Speaker 11: tremendous successes. Now, the timeline, well, we said when it started,
- 2:43:25Speaker 11: our timeline involves the midterms. The Iranians know that. But
- 2:43:28Speaker 11: their timeline involves maintaining control. And remember, this is a
- 2:43:33Speaker 11: highly fractured society, 60 percent roughly Persian and the rest,
- 2:43:37Speaker 11: you know, 10 percent Sunni and all the others we
- 2:43:38Speaker 11: talked about, Azerbaijani and all this. And so they are
- 2:43:41Speaker 11: not a cohesive singular group. Of course they've got radical
- 2:43:44Speaker 11: fundamentalist Islamists. They've also got very rich people who want
- 2:43:47Speaker 11: to make more money. So this isn't just a situation
- 2:43:53Speaker 11: where they could just stand on everybody's neck and say,
- 2:43:55Speaker 11: we're going to drive Iran into the dirt so that
- 2:43:58Speaker 11: we hurt the United States the most. They may try that.
- 2:44:01Speaker 11: Certainly the IRGC might be willing to do that. The
- 2:44:04Speaker 11: most radical of the fundamentalists would. But it's just not
- 2:44:07Speaker 11: so simple as the kind of platitudes that are being
- 2:44:09Speaker 11: pointed out there. Now, we don't know what's really going
- 2:44:11Speaker 11: on behind the scenes. This is a very hard situation
- 2:44:15Speaker 11: to track. Of course, Trump declares victory, I don't know,
- 2:44:17Speaker 11: every other day. That's what Trump does. And he's negotiating constantly.
- 2:44:22Speaker 11: In every word he utters, every post he posts. So
- 2:44:26Speaker 11: I just, I can't, I do not dismiss the problems.
- 2:44:30Speaker 11: I also do not accept that Iran is in the
- 2:44:32Speaker 11: catbird seat and somehow the West is not. Europe is
- 2:44:35Speaker 11: going to be under tremendous pressure. They are going to
- 2:44:37Speaker 11: have influence on Iran. China, influence on Iran. Russia's loving
- 2:44:41Speaker 11: it because they're making money on oil. And now they
- 2:44:43Speaker 11: can produce even more. So, but the pressure on Iran
- 2:44:47Speaker 11: is going to continue. The pressure on the United States
- 2:44:49Speaker 11: is going to continue to grow. We can't really predict
- 2:44:53Speaker 11: where it goes. And we're like, Eight weeks in?
- 2:44:55Speaker 5: About?
- 2:44:56Speaker 11: Roughly? Something like that? I can't remember now. Let's say
- 2:44:59Speaker 11: eight weeks. All right, so we're eight weeks in. This
- 2:45:02Speaker 11: thing is just extremely short. Trying to bring these people
- 2:45:07Speaker 11: to terms on the two big issues, reopening the Strait
- 2:45:11Speaker 11: and not being able to close it again, and getting
- 2:45:13Speaker 11: rid of the nuclear program, those are very critical issues
- 2:45:16Speaker 11: in Iran. And they're going to hold out with those
- 2:45:19Speaker 11: as long as they can. They're going to continue to
- 2:45:20Speaker 11: put proposals across. They call for hundreds of billions of
- 2:45:23Speaker 11: dollars in payments. In the end, we'll see where the
- 2:45:27Speaker 11: negotiations fall out. But at this point, we don't go
- 2:45:32Speaker 11: into forever war. One last point. You're hearing a lot
- 2:45:36Speaker 11: of pressure from Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham and the
- 2:45:38Speaker 11: others who are probably representing Israel's interests. You hear a
- 2:45:41Speaker 11: lot from Israel about how they want this regime changed.
- 2:45:45Speaker 11: We've talked extensively about what that requires. We looked at
- 2:45:48Speaker 11: Japan and Germany. We talked about the number of people
- 2:45:51Speaker 11: we'd have to kill. I went through that discussion with
- 2:45:54Speaker 11: a Lebanese Christian man a couple of days ago. He said, oh, no, no,
- 2:45:57Speaker 11: you're wrong. You're not going to have to kill 10%.
- 2:45:59Speaker 11: It's going to be 15. I said, okay, instead of
- 2:46:01Speaker 11: 9 million people, let's just say we kill 15 million people.
- 2:46:05Speaker 11: The West, the United States, whoever's involved in this, we
- 2:46:08Speaker 11: do not have the commitment to this war to do that.
- 2:46:11Speaker 11: We cannot... commit ground forces. We can't. We're not up
- 2:46:15Speaker 11: for it. We're up for the losses. The American people
- 2:46:18Speaker 11: aren't behind it. If Iran starts, say, taking out water supplies,
- 2:46:22Speaker 11: that's a direct attempt to kill people. If they start
- 2:46:25Speaker 11: taking out oil supplies, people will die. What I'm saying is,
- 2:46:29Speaker 11: Mark Levin, who's been calling for nuclear attacks in a
- 2:46:31Speaker 11: very subtle sort of no-I'm-not way, if Iran reacts too
- 2:46:36Speaker 11: terribly badly, we will not just go in. We will
- 2:46:38Speaker 11: do what we did to Japan. We will nuke them
- 2:46:41Speaker 11: before we go in. We will absolutely obliterate that nation
- 2:46:47Speaker 11: before we put boots on the ground. This is my guess.
- 2:46:51Speaker 11: I do not believe that Trump is going to be
- 2:46:53Speaker 11: coerced or induced into deploying ground forces while that nation
- 2:46:58Speaker 11: still has a wholly intact IRGC ground apparatus, like their
- 2:47:02Speaker 11: ground forces are really largely intact. We control their air.
- 2:47:06Speaker 11: We control their water. And yet we're told they're winning
- 2:47:09Speaker 11: every day. They're not winning. We haven't won. this is
- 2:47:12Speaker 11: a live action fight and we're in the middle of
- 2:47:14Speaker 11: it with a front-row seat. It's very hard to take
- 2:47:17Speaker 11: the American people through this kind of a journey. Some say,
- 2:47:19Speaker 11: don't panic. Yes, pay attention to oil. Yes, we need
- 2:47:22Speaker 11: better answers, like more coming out of Saudi and new
- 2:47:26Speaker 11: sources that come alive and increased production from Brazil, Petrobras.
- 2:47:31Speaker 11: It's a horribly inefficient company. They could be paying Exxon
- 2:47:35Speaker 11: people to come down there and fix their situation now.
- 2:47:38Speaker 11: There's a lot that can be done to increase oil supply.
- 2:47:42Speaker 11: And that doesn't mean that the 7 or 8 million
- 2:47:46Speaker 11: barrels that we're missing aren't missing. But I just don't
- 2:47:51Speaker 11: like these glib comments coming from these oil traders who
- 2:47:54Speaker 11: are using every tweet, every post, every comment to move
- 2:47:59Speaker 11: the market so they can make money. That's what bothers me,
- 2:48:03Speaker 11: is these guys go on CNBC and talk their book.
- 2:48:06Speaker 11: You know, oh, oil's going up. Oh, so you're long
- 2:48:08Speaker 11: oil and you need to sell at a premium? Okay, great.
- 2:48:12Speaker 11: It's more complicated than that.
- 2:48:14Speaker 3: I view it a little bit differently because I think
- 2:48:16Speaker 3: it's their– depending who you listen to, I think it's
- 2:48:19Speaker 3: their expertise, though. I think it's what they follow on
- 2:48:22Speaker 3: a regular basis. I mean, I would be fooling you
- 2:48:26Speaker 3: if I'm not sitting here out of concern saying, I
- 2:48:29Speaker 3: don't think it's going very well. You keep hearing about,
- 2:48:32Speaker 3: they're going to make a deal, they're going to make
- 2:48:33Speaker 3: a deal. Well, they're not making a deal. And they
- 2:48:36Speaker 3: could sit there and ride out another bombing campaign and perhaps–
- 2:48:40Speaker 3: They don't really care about some of the things that
- 2:48:43Speaker 3: you mentioned, and they'll just ride it out. And at
- 2:48:45Speaker 3: the same time, we here will suffer higher gas prices,
- 2:48:49Speaker 3: higher oil prices, higher inflation. And I don't think our
- 2:48:53Speaker 3: economy can tolerate that either. I just don't think people,
- 2:48:57Speaker 3: I don't think America's going to say, by God, I'm
- 2:49:00Speaker 3: glad we got into this. And this might have been
- 2:49:04Speaker 3: a mistake from the very beginning. And there might be
- 2:49:07Speaker 3: an answer to say, we've got to figure out how
- 2:49:10Speaker 3: to get out of this before we sink our economy here.
- 2:49:14Speaker 3: And everybody pays a dear price for it. And it
- 2:49:17Speaker 3: appears more going in that direction than not going in
- 2:49:20Speaker 3: that direction.
- 2:49:22Speaker 11: I don't think it's going more that way. I mean,
- 2:49:23Speaker 11: I think this is just going. I wish it wasn't happening.
- 2:49:26Speaker 11: I wish we hadn't started this. I wish Israel hadn't
- 2:49:29Speaker 11: started this, but they did, and we followed them. So
- 2:49:32Speaker 11: it is what it is. Remember, we have other options, right? Like,
- 2:49:36Speaker 11: we also have quite a formidable military capability. And the
- 2:49:41Speaker 11: tremendous pressure around the world to get this solved isn't
- 2:49:45Speaker 11: just focused on the United States. So Iran's going to
- 2:49:48Speaker 11: hold out as long as they can. We're going to
- 2:49:50Speaker 11: continue negotiating. Trump's going to keep declaring victory every other
- 2:49:53Speaker 11: day or so. And the traders are going to keep
- 2:49:56Speaker 11: manipulating the oil markets to make more money. Oil prices
- 2:49:58Speaker 11: will go up if this continues, no question, because China's
- 2:50:01Speaker 11: going to have to pay huge premiums in order to
- 2:50:05Speaker 11: get oil redirected to them away from Europe. They're going
- 2:50:08Speaker 11: to have to pay a huge number for that. Now,
- 2:50:10Speaker 11: at some point, the economics don't work for China. So,
- 2:50:13Speaker 11: I understand your point. I think you're being very reasonable.
- 2:50:17Speaker 11: I just think that the leverage isn't all on one side.
- 2:50:20Speaker 3: Stand by.
- 2:50:21Speaker 1: Back to wrap it up after this. 570 WKBN.
- 2:50:26Speaker 3: I just... I'm not optimistic. Let me put it that way.
- 2:50:31Speaker 3: I mean, I keep hearing a deal's near, a deal's near.
- 2:50:34Speaker 3: The deal doesn't materialize. And I'm just not optimistic as
- 2:50:39Speaker 3: this continues to go, to go on with no end
- 2:50:43Speaker 3: in sight as far as I'm concerned. And I'm definitely
- 2:50:47Speaker 3: concerned about inflation, increasing interest rates, energy costs, and how
- 2:50:52Speaker 3: much the public is going to put up with it.
- 2:50:56Speaker 3: And I don't think it's much longer.
- 2:50:58Speaker 11: Well, I understand your points.
- 2:51:00Speaker 3: They're valid.
- 2:51:01Speaker 11: I don't know what's happening. We don't know, but I'm
- 2:51:04Speaker 11: just saying, let's, You know, let's not surrender until the
- 2:51:07Speaker 11: battle's lost. And, you know, we'll see where it goes.
- 2:51:12Speaker 3: I don't know if you'd call it surrendering or not.
- 2:51:15Speaker 3: It's just I don't know if there's a good answer
- 2:51:21Speaker 3: to this. As you said, it's probably a mistake from
- 2:51:23Speaker 3: the very beginning.
- 2:51:25Speaker 11: Yeah, I think so. And the things I'm hearing online
- 2:51:27Speaker 11: are pretty much surrender. I mean, the rhetoric is just terrible.
- 2:51:33Speaker 3: You mean the United States?
- 2:51:34Speaker 16: Yes.
- 2:51:35Speaker 11: Yeah, you know, the globalists and the social media pundits
- 2:51:40Speaker 11: who are collecting checks, what they're putting out is just garbage.
- 2:51:45Speaker 3: But I don't sense it's going well either. You know
- 2:51:49Speaker 3: what I'm saying? I mean, I don't... I sense Quagmire
- 2:51:53Speaker 3: is what Richard Pharmacist uses, and I think that's a
- 2:51:55Speaker 3: fair assessment at this point.
- 2:51:58Speaker 5: Well, 16,000 targets destroyed, very limited losses, and..
- 2:52:07Speaker 3: But no surrender. No agreement.
- 2:52:11Speaker 11: It takes time. You're right.
- 2:52:14Speaker 5: I mean, I would expect one now anyway.
- 2:52:17Speaker 11: It's way too early.
- 2:52:17Speaker 3: Well, how much more time do you give it? Four months?
- 2:52:20Speaker 3: Three months? How much more as you get closer to
- 2:52:24Speaker 3: the midterms and everything else?
- 2:52:27Speaker 11: I don't think we can say. I mean, we don't
- 2:52:29Speaker 11: know what those pressure points are in, like, for example, China,
- 2:52:34Speaker 11: where they're looking for help. We don't know what the
- 2:52:36Speaker 11: pressure points are. We don't know how much pressure the
- 2:52:39Speaker 11: Chinese are feeling yet. This is one that takes a
- 2:52:43Speaker 11: lot of daily monitoring.
- 2:52:46Speaker 3: We shall see. There he is, the one, the only, G2.
- 2:52:49Speaker 3: Thank you, G2. Appreciate it.
- 2:52:51Speaker 11: You're welcome, Ron.
- 2:52:52Speaker 3: All right, G2 from the bunker, deep below the Earth's
- 2:52:56Speaker 3: crust in an undisclosed location, only General Johnson Jameson knows

- 2:53:40Speaker 32: President Trump meeting with his cabinet today, making it clear
- 2:53:42Speaker 32: he feels no urgency to end the war with Iran,
- 2:53:45Speaker 32: saying Iran wants very much to make a deal, but
- 2:53:47Speaker 32: he's not satisfied with what the Iranians are offering.
- 2:53:50Speaker 43: The primary urgency is that we can't let Iran have
- 2:53:54Speaker 43: a nuclear weapon. But at the same time, we have
- 2:53:57Speaker 43: a tremendous amount of oil, gas, coal. We have tremendous
