- 0:39Speaker 1: to have Roger Jorns here. Welcome Roger.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, thank you so much, David. That's really awesome,
- 0:44Speaker 2: the intro and everything.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that. I have a long ways to go,
- 0:49Speaker 3: so that's super awesome. I love that. That's super great.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Oh well, I'm super excited to have you here. Roger
- 0:54Speaker 1: and I have a lot of crossovers you guys are
- 0:56Speaker 1: gonna see in this episode. And we met. Gosh, it's
- 1:01Speaker 1: been I think we met early part of this year
- 1:04Speaker 1: through Success Champions Network. Rogers one of the leaders in
- 1:08Speaker 1: one of our chapters that we were in that group
- 1:10Speaker 1: called National Selection, and Roger and I started talking and
- 1:15Speaker 1: connecting there and then I realized Okay, he's he's a
- 1:17Speaker 1: founder of Reanimation Design, which is we're going to get
- 1:20Speaker 1: into websites and how we can use those as a
- 1:22Speaker 1: tool to help transform our businesses to be more effective
- 1:26Speaker 1: right in communicating our message. And of course you know,
- 1:30Speaker 1: Roger and I are huge fans of Star Wars and
- 1:32Speaker 1: other things that you might hear some geekdom coming out
- 1:36Speaker 1: through this podcast as well. So Roger, let's let's you know,
- 1:41Speaker 1: welcome the force here. I'm glad to have you, and
- 1:44Speaker 1: I love for you to share a little bit about
- 1:47Speaker 1: your background because when we have guests coming on here,
- 1:49Speaker 1: you know, some people may know them, other people haven't
- 1:51Speaker 1: heard them before. And I love to have your bit
- 1:54Speaker 1: of your origin story, where you came from and now
- 1:58Speaker 1: your passion and I love your past. By the way,
- 2:00Speaker 1: because you're posting on LinkedIn, you're sharing ways that people
- 2:03Speaker 1: can help improve their websites and improve their messaging out there.
- 2:06Speaker 1: But talk about your journey to Reanimation Design where you're
- 2:09Speaker 1: at now.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you. I appreciate that.
- 2:11Speaker 2: David. Again, I'm super excited to be here. Well, let's
- 2:15Speaker 2: see here, I was born at a young age and
- 2:19Speaker 2: starting all the way back there. Yeah, oh man be
- 2:25Speaker 2: here forever. Yes, talking about that, And then when I
- 2:27Speaker 2: was ten, I looked at Sally No, you know, and
- 2:31Speaker 2: then the last thing I remember is that I punched them.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I will say though, in high school, I do remember
- 2:35Speaker 2: one story specifically, like I was in football for one season,
- 2:37Speaker 2: and I just remember one time like I was like,
- 2:39Speaker 2: oh hey, it awful right, like literally still the same hype,
- 2:43Speaker 2: but like fifty pounds lighter. And I just remember the
- 2:46Speaker 2: last thing like, oh hey, look the holes open and
- 2:49Speaker 2: I'm running through it as a defensive lineman. I no
- 2:51Speaker 2: idea or linebacker and I'm running through and the last
- 2:54Speaker 2: thing I remember is just seeing the running back coming
- 2:56Speaker 2: at me. And then the next thing I remember, I
- 2:58Speaker 2: was like, why am I on side of the field. Oh,
- 3:01Speaker 2: it's because I don't hit me so hard I passed out.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I got knocked out. So anyway, that has nothing to
- 3:07Speaker 2: do with anything, so I apologize. But anyway, yeah, no,
- 3:11Speaker 2: I you know, I've always found website designed to be interesting.
- 3:14Speaker 3: And when I first like was like, oh maybe I
- 3:17Speaker 3: could you know, think about doing this.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I was actually getting my degree in theology and I
- 3:22Speaker 2: got my I got my U my bachelor's and my
- 3:25Speaker 2: master's in theology, and if you want to know how
- 3:27Speaker 2: to stop a conversation or make it super awkward is hey,
- 3:30Speaker 2: so what's your degree in theology.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Oh okay.
- 3:36Speaker 2: So you know when people when I had, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 2: thought about web design, people were like, well, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 2: if you want to do web design, look this is
- 3:43Speaker 2: this is way back in like way back like two
- 3:45Speaker 2: thousand and eight or something like that. They were like, well,
- 3:47Speaker 2: you can do graphic design, or you can do software development.
- 3:51Speaker 3: And I said, cool, I don't want to do any
- 3:52Speaker 3: of those because.
- 3:53Speaker 2: That's not at all what I want, you know, So
- 3:57Speaker 2: just kind of continued doing, you know, I had a
- 3:59Speaker 2: couple of different job and always kind of watching how
- 4:02Speaker 2: web design had kind of had kind of developed. So
- 4:06Speaker 2: really it was in twenty eighteen I was like, you
- 4:08Speaker 2: know what, I'm just going to go ahead and I'm
- 4:09Speaker 2: just going to kind of figure out how to do
- 4:11Speaker 2: web design. And so, you know, YouTube at that point
- 4:13Speaker 2: had started really become a place where you could kind
- 4:16Speaker 2: of self taught, you know, and so I took a
- 4:18Speaker 2: couple of online courses. But what really kind of stuck
- 4:21Speaker 2: out to me is that I always told my wife
- 4:23Speaker 2: it's you know, really websign is not that hard. I'm
- 4:25Speaker 2: just moving boxes across the screen, but I'm trying to
- 4:28Speaker 2: figure out how to make them stay right. And so
- 4:31Speaker 2: then it became a point of Okay, well why am
- 4:33Speaker 2: I putting the boxes, you know, in this order? Why
- 4:36Speaker 2: am I putting this heading? Why am I putting this?
- 4:38Speaker 2: And so then it was like, oh, okay, cool, Well
- 4:40Speaker 2: you can tell a story through the website, you know,
- 4:43Speaker 2: marketing came into that. You know, you're telling a story,
- 4:46Speaker 2: You're helping people feel something, and there's a structure to it.
- 4:49Speaker 2: You're not just randomly putting things all over the place.
- 4:52Speaker 3: And so that was.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Really something that I wanted to help share with people
- 4:56Speaker 2: because a lot of times, you know, businesses are like,
- 4:58Speaker 2: well we just got to get something out there.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You know.
- 5:00Speaker 2: When I first started, I was like, well, I want
- 5:03Speaker 2: to know what you do. And I think that was
- 5:05Speaker 2: something that kind of drew me into that. It's like, WHOA,
- 5:08Speaker 2: that is really cool. I didn't know you did that.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Your website doesn't say that, you know, and it's like,
- 5:12Speaker 2: how can we help bring that out? And that was
- 5:15Speaker 2: really something that I found super interesting, just the whole
- 5:19Speaker 2: marketing aspect of it. Telling a story. I love stories obviously,
- 5:23Speaker 2: you know, we love stories. You know, you want to
- 5:25Speaker 2: hear a good story, and people people gravitate towards that.
- 5:28Speaker 2: And so I think it's just a really cool aspect
- 5:32Speaker 2: of it. And that's something that I tried to help
- 5:34Speaker 2: people kind of think through when we're designing websites and
- 5:37Speaker 2: when we're thinking through their marketing, when we're thinking through
- 5:39Speaker 2: how are you showing up online?
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yeah? No, I think it's so powerful, you know. And
- 5:44Speaker 1: it's it's funny you say, you know that you said
- 5:46Speaker 1: earlier that the theology degree, but you know, I come
- 5:49Speaker 1: from faith as well as a Christian, had that background.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And if you've any, you spent any whether you're a
- 5:53Speaker 1: Christian or not, if you read the Bible, there are
- 5:55Speaker 1: tons of stories, amazing stories and right and and and
- 6:01Speaker 1: I think those that have been able to translate stories
- 6:04Speaker 1: well or we remember them when we see where stories aren't.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You could take the same exact story and then put
- 6:11Speaker 1: it in different formats book format, on on a movie
- 6:15Speaker 1: right or other ways. Music, And it's some of it's
- 6:19Speaker 1: very memorable and you're like, oh my gosh. And other
- 6:21Speaker 1: times it's like it's forgettable. It's like what was that.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Again, Yeah, yeah, yeah, one hundred percent.
- 6:26Speaker 2: And you know, and even and even with that aspect
- 6:28Speaker 2: of story, it's you know, before you know, now we
- 6:33Speaker 2: can write stuff down or type stuff down, doesn't matter, right,
- 6:36Speaker 2: But before, right, you know, there was always that where
- 6:39Speaker 2: people would you know, tell stories to each other. And
- 6:41Speaker 2: you have these ways of people that that would you know,
- 6:44Speaker 2: that would tell the stories to each other. But that's
- 6:46Speaker 2: how history and how things got passed along. And so
- 6:50Speaker 2: I think that there's always just that innate underlying like yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 2: we've kind of were made for story, right, Like we
- 6:58Speaker 2: resonate with those stories. And I think that that's super important.
- 7:02Speaker 2: And that's why I think also why I was why
- 7:06Speaker 2: I resonated with that, you know, of coming from a
- 7:09Speaker 2: background of I love to read, right, I still read
- 7:12Speaker 2: my comics, oh you know, I still read my fantasy,
- 7:15Speaker 2: my my sci fi and all that, you know, and
- 7:17Speaker 2: I get wrapped up into a good story. And just
- 7:19Speaker 2: like you were saying, coming from a faith background, you know,
- 7:21Speaker 2: and also when you see you know, the stories, that
- 7:24Speaker 2: is telling the story right throughout it. And so I
- 7:27Speaker 2: think that we all kind of resonate with all sorts
- 7:30Speaker 2: of stories, and that's why I mean you look at
- 7:31Speaker 2: what now the Marvel Universe, you know on screen. I mean,
- 7:35Speaker 2: you know, it's because it's telling the story and people
- 7:37Speaker 2: want to see how everything connects. And I think that
- 7:40Speaker 2: that also plays into a business for their online presence
- 7:43Speaker 2: as well. And so you know, they want to see
- 7:44Speaker 2: how things, you know, connect and all that well.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And I mean, I'm old enough on fifty one, Roger.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I remember when back in the day, people said, why
- 7:53Speaker 1: do I even need a website? You know who website.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I remember a colleague of my going to even churches
- 8:01Speaker 1: and saying, hey, I think you need a website, Like
- 8:02Speaker 1: we don't need a website. You know. It's just so
- 8:04Speaker 1: funny to think about that. In a way, it's a
- 8:06Speaker 1: way of reaching people. And like you said, to your point,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I see kind of I love to get your perspective.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Sometimes I see something that's just very I don't say basic,
- 8:16Speaker 1: but it's just very like information, but it's there's no
- 8:19Speaker 1: real story. It's just it's just information or and or
- 8:25Speaker 1: they're trying to tell a story. But there is so
- 8:27Speaker 1: much stuff. It's like, yes, I can't I can't make
- 8:31Speaker 1: heads or tails of all of this stuff. I'm confused.
- 8:34Speaker 1: You're losing quote unquote losing the reader, if you will,
- 8:37Speaker 1: and whether they're like I'm just gonna go somewhere else.
- 8:39Speaker 1: It's just too too much. So can you talk a
- 8:41Speaker 1: little bit about the journey of you know, creating a website,
- 8:45Speaker 1: maybe a little bit of like you know, from getting
- 8:47Speaker 1: that story and maybe you know, don't make it overly complicated.
- 8:50Speaker 1: In fact, you helped me recently and we can get
- 8:52Speaker 1: into a little bit about my my side hustle, feel
- 8:55Speaker 1: with my life side collectibles one, but talk a little
- 8:57Speaker 1: bit about, like, you know, the journey of like taking
- 9:02Speaker 1: the story, like you said, from the from the from
- 9:05Speaker 1: the client.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, And I'm not the first one to
- 9:09Speaker 2: say this. You know, if you confuse them, you lose them,
- 9:12Speaker 2: that sort of thing. And really, and again I'm not
- 9:15Speaker 2: like the first one to say this, And you know,
- 9:17Speaker 2: I always say, really, your website is doing one thing.
- 9:21Speaker 2: It's answering three questions. And those those three questions are
- 9:25Speaker 2: what do you do, why should people care and helping
- 9:28Speaker 2: them think they're okay? What are the benefits of working
- 9:30Speaker 2: with you? Not the features? What are the benefits of
- 9:32Speaker 2: working with you? And what are those results that you've
- 9:34Speaker 2: gotten sometimes it's and or usually it's you know, it's
- 9:37Speaker 2: both and but then also most importantly, Okay, so how
- 9:41Speaker 2: do we continue the conversation or you know, how do
- 9:43Speaker 2: we like, how do I get into contact with you?
- 9:46Speaker 2: And I tell them what do you do? Why they
- 9:48Speaker 2: should care? And how do they get in contact with you?
- 9:50Speaker 2: And your website just continually expands on that you're you're
- 9:54Speaker 2: solving a problem. You think of stories, you think of
- 9:57Speaker 2: Star Wars, right, Luke has to overcome this obstacle, you know,
- 10:01Speaker 2: Lord of the Rings. You know, Frodo has to do
- 10:03Speaker 2: this thing. Right, Well, whatever story that that you're thinking of,
- 10:06Speaker 2: there's always a problem, and it's you're helping them solve
- 10:09Speaker 2: that problem and helping them kind of think through that
- 10:11Speaker 2: idea of what that problem is. And you know, and
- 10:14Speaker 2: sometimes it's the problem is you know, you just you
- 10:18Speaker 2: got to let them know that you're there, right, because
- 10:20Speaker 2: they don't know that you're there, and so when they
- 10:22Speaker 2: get there, you want to let them lean into that
- 10:24Speaker 2: conversation of like, Okay, well, why should I care about
- 10:27Speaker 2: what you're doing? And I think that that's really cool?
- 10:31Speaker 2: Just like you said, you know, sometimes there's so much there, right,
- 10:35Speaker 2: it's like wanting to write a paragraph about you know, well, no,
- 10:38Speaker 2: just like a couple of sentences, like right, quick sentence.
- 10:41Speaker 2: You don't have to tell them everything. I always say,
- 10:43Speaker 2: is that just enough that they're like oh huh, and
- 10:47Speaker 2: then they lean into that conversation, or on a website,
- 10:49Speaker 2: they scroll down, right, yeah, by leaning into that conversation,
- 10:53Speaker 2: so they're like, oh, that's that's interesting, Okay, cool, I
- 10:55Speaker 2: want to know more about that sort of thing. So
- 10:58Speaker 2: a lot of times it's really just you know, it's
- 11:00Speaker 2: a blog, right, and it's like, well, you need to
- 11:03Speaker 2: be quick, right, everything is quick now, so we need
- 11:06Speaker 2: to you know, capture their attention and help them say
- 11:10Speaker 2: like immediately okay, yes, yes or no, you're you can't
- 11:14Speaker 2: solve my problem?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Right yeah? Yeah, they're like okay, that that's yeah. I
- 11:22Speaker 1: think that's such a so so important that you're saying, Roger,
- 11:25Speaker 1: it's it's it's simple, but you're like, you know, but
- 11:28Speaker 1: you're saying like, hey, remember this, you guys. It is
- 11:33Speaker 1: so important that you know you think through what you're
- 11:36Speaker 1: trying to convey, you know, And I know for me,
- 11:41Speaker 1: your help on the website was was huge with my
- 11:44Speaker 1: my light cyc collectible so I wouldn't get stuck, right yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 1: and like, okay, how can I how can I simplify that?
- 11:53Speaker 1: And you were able to do that. It was really
- 11:54Speaker 1: great to have your help on that. You know, so
- 11:56Speaker 1: anybody wants to go check it out. You guys have
- 11:58Speaker 1: to go look up light CYC Collectibles not. Roger helped
- 12:01Speaker 1: me on getting that all set up and making sure
- 12:03Speaker 1: that it looked good. It was simple and got the
- 12:06Speaker 1: story and you know, and I feel like sometimes people
- 12:09Speaker 1: make it much more complicated it needs to be, and
- 12:13Speaker 1: having you like you said, Okay, it's just these simple
- 12:16Speaker 1: things of here's the story I'm trying to convey. And
- 12:19Speaker 1: that's why I love about Success Champions Network. You work
- 12:22Speaker 1: with other marketing folks, branding experts to and you work
- 12:24Speaker 1: synergistically of like what's the what's the what's that vision
- 12:28Speaker 1: that you're trying to create? And that's what I love
- 12:30Speaker 1: having people like you on this podcast, Roger, so that
- 12:32Speaker 1: we can say, you know, there's somebody else. I know.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I don't have to be an expert in all things.
- 12:39Speaker 1: You know. When I reached out to you, I said, look,
- 12:41Speaker 1: I know WordPress, I know some of these things, but
- 12:43Speaker 1: you know, I'm not doing this all the time like
- 12:45Speaker 1: you are, and you have a different perspective and and
- 12:47Speaker 1: you know what's working and not working, and you know
- 12:49Speaker 1: how to adjust these things. And it's not I guess
- 12:52Speaker 1: part of it too, Rogers, Right, it's not set it
- 12:54Speaker 1: and forget it. There's different things that are evolving out
- 12:56Speaker 1: there as far as how we need to set these up.
- 12:59Speaker 1: How are how are they being whatever? You know, you
- 13:01Speaker 1: know the terms se O, the AI, all that stuff.
- 13:04Speaker 1: How is it being set up so that it's properly
- 13:07Speaker 1: being you know, found right.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah, you know, I think
- 13:12Speaker 2: it's important that people do kind of stay ahead of that.
- 13:15Speaker 2: But you know, it's also just part of that, like
- 13:18Speaker 2: where you want it also to just be It needs
- 13:19Speaker 2: to be visually appealing, you know, it needs to look good,
- 13:23Speaker 2: it needs to.
- 13:26Speaker 3: You need to kind of change. Obviously.
- 13:27Speaker 2: The big thing right now is people are talking about
- 13:30Speaker 2: you know, AI, se O, all that sort of stuff,
- 13:32Speaker 2: you know, all that generative stuff and so like, and
- 13:35Speaker 2: they're really really trying to push GEO, which I am
- 13:38Speaker 2: not a fan of. I just say AI and se
- 13:40Speaker 2: O or s c O and AI. Although I will
- 13:42Speaker 2: say I had started telling people like a year ago, well,
- 13:46Speaker 2: SEO stands for Search engine optimization. But I told people like, well, really,
- 13:50Speaker 2: SEO stands for people are searching everywhere online. And I
- 13:54Speaker 2: started to say that and then I realized, oh, I
- 13:56Speaker 2: should go get the domain for this, and somebody already
- 13:58Speaker 2: took it, and I was like, DH should copyright of that. Yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 2: but that's what I still tell people. You know, people
- 14:04Speaker 2: are searching everywhere online. You don't necessarily have to be everywhere, right,
- 14:07Speaker 2: you find where you're going to be, but then you
- 14:08Speaker 2: still but you show up there, and it's important to
- 14:11Speaker 2: stay on top of that, you know, and even with
- 14:14Speaker 2: AI and s c O, you need to stay on
- 14:16Speaker 2: top of that and the changing things and making sure
- 14:19Speaker 2: that it's simple, like, you know, even okay, so I'm
- 14:22Speaker 2: a retail store, where can people find me?
- 14:24Speaker 1: Right?
- 14:24Speaker 2: They don't want to have to go, you know, to
- 14:26Speaker 2: three different pages to figure out where you're at, what
- 14:28Speaker 2: time am I open? All that sort of stuff. You know,
- 14:30Speaker 2: it's still telling that story. It's giving that people that information,
- 14:33Speaker 2: you know, that that's important to them when they need it.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Absolutely. Well, I got a question for you on that,
- 14:38Speaker 1: because we have a lot not honestly we don't have
- 14:40Speaker 1: as much retail folks on this podcast, although it is
- 14:42Speaker 1: not generally speaking, we have more folks in the professional
- 14:46Speaker 1: services realm Rogers. So, to tell a story, if you're
- 14:49Speaker 1: a professional services, engineering, a legal, you know, whatever the
- 14:54Speaker 1: case might be, right, I'm just going to put that
- 14:56Speaker 1: broad umbrella of professional service. You can narrow it down,
- 14:59Speaker 1: but to tell story effectively, what would you say would
- 15:02Speaker 1: be kind of the minimum that you would want to
- 15:04Speaker 1: have on a website? I mean, obviously there's a homepage,
- 15:07Speaker 1: but what is there other pages? Or do do we
- 15:09Speaker 1: create you know, I'd love to get your thoughts on it.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Do we create a standalone you know, funnel or landing pages?
- 15:14Speaker 1: It's clear for certain things, server service services, what do
- 15:18Speaker 1: you see right now, Roger? As far as what's the minimum?
- 15:21Speaker 1: And then of course you could always add more, But
- 15:23Speaker 1: like if you did not, you know nothing else, what
- 15:24Speaker 1: would you say to tell the story of your company?
- 15:26Speaker 1: What would you say? How would you segment that out?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so if you're going like so, if you're moving
- 15:31Speaker 2: from a landing page, you're wanting to tell all those
- 15:33Speaker 2: different elements. So like your services, you're about tell them
- 15:37Speaker 2: how easy it is to work with you, right, you know,
- 15:39Speaker 2: the story brand frameworkers is very popular, you know, so
- 15:42Speaker 2: tell them how easy it is to work with you,
- 15:43Speaker 2: tell them all those different things, right, And so I
- 15:45Speaker 2: always say you want to have a minimum of four
- 15:48Speaker 2: to five pages. You want to have a homepage, you
- 15:51Speaker 2: want to have an about page, you want to have
- 15:53Speaker 2: a contact page, and then you want to have your
- 15:54Speaker 2: services page.
- 15:56Speaker 3: And with that you then are.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Able to kind of hit the kind of the main
- 16:00Speaker 2: things because you're also thinking about okay, well se o,
- 16:03Speaker 2: You're you're thinking about like, how are people going to
- 16:05Speaker 2: find me? Because actually, and it's still largely true today,
- 16:09Speaker 2: the about page is usually one of the top two,
- 16:13Speaker 2: sometimes the top three depending on uh pages that are
- 16:16Speaker 2: still you know, visited because people want to see, okay,
- 16:19Speaker 2: well who is behind this? Like who you know, who
- 16:21Speaker 2: is this person that I'm talking to or not talking to? Right,
- 16:24Speaker 2: and so that that's really really important. So then you're
- 16:28Speaker 2: able to again continue to tell that story of what
- 16:32Speaker 2: do you do? Why should people care? So what's the
- 16:36Speaker 2: problem you solve? What are the benefits of working with you?
- 16:38Speaker 2: What are you know, what are the results that sort
- 16:39Speaker 2: of thing? And then how do they get in contact
- 16:41Speaker 2: with you? That and and then obviously you know, have
- 16:44Speaker 2: that contact page in your services page. I always say,
- 16:46Speaker 2: if you're gonna have the fifth page, that's like a
- 16:48Speaker 2: flex page, that's like a kind of do what you
- 16:50Speaker 2: want page. So if you have maybe a specific service
- 16:54Speaker 2: that you're really maybe you have four services, but really
- 16:57Speaker 2: this is your main service to kind of get everybody in,
- 16:59Speaker 2: if you will, that you have a separate page just
- 17:02Speaker 2: for that, or you know, contractors or some maybe you're
- 17:06Speaker 2: a creative or something like that, and you have maybe
- 17:09Speaker 2: a portfolio or like a gallery page that sort of thing,
- 17:12Speaker 2: so that people can see outside of whatever your services,
- 17:15Speaker 2: they can kind of see okay, oh wow, you know
- 17:17Speaker 2: they can do all these sort of things. So that's
- 17:20Speaker 2: usually the minimum basic home about contact services, and then
- 17:25Speaker 2: like whatever you want sort of page or flex page,
- 17:28Speaker 2: if you will. So that's really the minimum once you
- 17:30Speaker 2: get past the landed page.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Got it well? Related to those I've heard different things.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I'd love your thoughts on this for folks. What about
- 17:38Speaker 1: the role of in telling the story Roger, What about
- 17:42Speaker 1: the role of case studies or testimonials or what other
- 17:46Speaker 1: people say about you. Okay, there's one thing about time
- 17:48Speaker 1: talking about myself, right, and there's all our speak, but
- 17:52Speaker 1: what about what other people say about you?
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so that flex page can definitely be used as
- 17:57Speaker 2: a case study. That's absolutely fantastic. Some people want to
- 18:03Speaker 2: kind of just have like a testimonials page, like where
- 18:05Speaker 2: it's just blocks of testimonials. That's fine, but it's better
- 18:09Speaker 2: to have if you can have a couple down, you know,
- 18:12Speaker 2: kind of below to be honest with you, something that
- 18:16Speaker 2: I and I talked about this and I some people
- 18:18Speaker 2: call it different things. I like the CTA booster if
- 18:22Speaker 2: you can take something that somebody said about you and
- 18:25Speaker 2: put it near a call to action. So if you're
- 18:28Speaker 2: like sign up for this book or download this thing,
- 18:31Speaker 2: or you know, you know, get this trial or something
- 18:35Speaker 2: like that, right, put a CTA booster. You know, it's
- 18:40Speaker 2: a quote from David, right, like Roger really helped me
- 18:43Speaker 2: do this thing, or you know, David really helped bring
- 18:46Speaker 2: clarity to my business. Right, sign up now, that sort
- 18:49Speaker 2: of thing, and you're able to put that right there,
- 18:50Speaker 2: that actually kind of boosts that that CTA. But having
- 18:54Speaker 2: an actual case study, especially if it fits within your business. Hey,
- 18:57Speaker 2: I was able to take them from point A to
- 18:59Speaker 2: point be and this is what they learned along the way,
- 19:02Speaker 2: and oh, by the way, look at what they have
- 19:03Speaker 2: to say for it themselves. That sort of thing. That's
- 19:06Speaker 2: really great. So if you can combine what you did
- 19:09Speaker 2: and then also in their own words, have them tell
- 19:11Speaker 2: you what you did, but then give you like a review,
- 19:13Speaker 2: give you like, hey, this is how David, this is
- 19:15Speaker 2: how so and so helped me, you know, grow my business,
- 19:18Speaker 2: help me gain clarity, whatever that is. That that's an
- 19:21Speaker 2: excellent flex page, you know, because people want to see,
- 19:23Speaker 2: Like I said, people go to the about page because
- 19:25Speaker 2: they want to know is this.
- 19:26Speaker 3: A real person? And then they want to see what
- 19:28Speaker 3: have they done?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Oh wow, okay they've done all these things, you know,
- 19:31Speaker 2: and that's really cool to see that somebody else talking
- 19:35Speaker 2: about what you did.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely, one other thing I have to follow up
- 19:42Speaker 1: as you're pulling those things together. I had another episode
- 19:46Speaker 1: on the podcast podcast recently, and we're talking about your
- 19:48Speaker 1: digital assets and making sure that those are all organized
- 19:52Speaker 1: and put in the right places, whether it be video pictures,
- 19:55Speaker 1: what not, I mean, whatever that might be quotes, you know,
- 20:00Speaker 1: so that you can be successful, right Rogers, that you
- 20:02Speaker 1: want to make sure that this stuff is vetted correct, Right,
- 20:07Speaker 1: you're using the most updated stuff. What are the things
- 20:10Speaker 1: that business owners can do or be more proactive about
- 20:13Speaker 1: in preparing, especially if they're going to come work with
- 20:15Speaker 1: somebody like you, Roger, which are the things that they
- 20:17Speaker 1: should be looking for to make it smoother.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's actually that's actually great because when I first started,
- 20:24Speaker 2: it was like some businesses, maybe I didn't really know
- 20:27Speaker 2: what certain things were, and I'd be like, hey, could
- 20:29Speaker 2: you I have you put all these pictures in this folder?
- 20:32Speaker 2: Can you tell me what this is? You know, because
- 20:34Speaker 2: you have three different services and I'm like, I'm not
- 20:36Speaker 2: really sure what they are. So I definitely started doing that. Yeah,
- 20:39Speaker 2: one hundred percent if you can, and it works on
- 20:41Speaker 2: a whole bunch of different levels. So if you can
- 20:44Speaker 2: say this is what this picture is, and you don't
- 20:46Speaker 2: want to have like a long sentence, right, it's just
- 20:49Speaker 2: David talking to client laptop or something like that. Right, Okay, cool, awesome.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Now I know that it's this specific service, right, or
- 20:58Speaker 2: you know you're doing specific thing, then you're able to
- 21:01Speaker 2: then kind of organize that and say, okay, this is
- 21:03Speaker 2: part of this service. But then you're able to put
- 21:05Speaker 2: like for seo alt text for it so that you know,
- 21:08Speaker 2: screen readers can see it and.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Google will pick that up.
- 21:11Speaker 2: But yeah, if you have like multiple services, I've definitely
- 21:14Speaker 2: tried to start to have my clients say, okay, you
- 21:18Speaker 2: have service A, B, and C, can you please label
- 21:22Speaker 2: the images that you have? So, hey, here they're cleaning carpet. Here,
- 21:26Speaker 2: they're cleaning a van. Here it's cleaning you know, an office,
- 21:30Speaker 2: you know, squarehouse or something like that. It's just totally
- 21:33Speaker 2: made up example. Right right now, I know what it
- 21:35Speaker 2: is because now instead of me being like, cool, I
- 21:38Speaker 2: got fifty pictures and I don't know which one is
- 21:40Speaker 2: which because I know your business, but I think that
- 21:44Speaker 2: this could go here, but it may be over here,
- 21:46Speaker 2: like you know, that sort of thing. And so that
- 21:48Speaker 2: helps bring the clarity not just to me but also
- 21:51Speaker 2: to people that are seeing it, but then ultimately to
- 21:53Speaker 2: Google because Google.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Will read that as well. And so it's like a
- 21:57Speaker 3: threefold thing that you know, people people know what it is.
- 21:59Speaker 2: I know it it is, and then Google will ultimately
- 22:01Speaker 2: know what it is so that it can show it
- 22:03Speaker 2: to the right people because having that organization is very key.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I would say I've heard and maybe you've
- 22:10Speaker 1: experience I'm sure you've experienced this. But somebody says, well,
- 22:12Speaker 1: let's just go grab a picture or something from the Internet,
- 22:15Speaker 1: and they don't realize that that is, you know, copyrighted
- 22:18Speaker 1: or something, and now that they get and so, yeah,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I think as a web designer, you're looking out for
- 22:23Speaker 1: those things, right, So we're not using things that are
- 22:25Speaker 1: the right the wrong stuff. We don't want to be
- 22:27Speaker 1: get a you know, a legal letter saying hey, you
- 22:31Speaker 1: got to take this down or you've infringed upon our
- 22:33Speaker 1: you know, you know, intellectual property, right.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, And in you know, there's obviously watermarks
- 22:41Speaker 2: and stuff. And I always tell people try to get
- 22:44Speaker 2: if you can, right. And sometimes that's a business is
- 22:46Speaker 2: starting out, or you know, they don't have the opportunity
- 22:49Speaker 2: to take a picture, right, or or maybe there's some
- 22:51Speaker 2: confidentiality so they can't necessarily take you know, pictures and
- 22:54Speaker 2: all that. But yeah, one hundred percent, I'm like, there's
- 22:58Speaker 2: you know, you either you either need to pay for it,
- 23:00Speaker 2: you need to take it yourself or you know, professionally
- 23:03Speaker 2: or whatever, or you need to get it from a
- 23:04Speaker 2: copyright free place.
- 23:06Speaker 3: And there's a few places that I'll do that.
- 23:08Speaker 2: But the issue with that is that, like I've been
- 23:10Speaker 2: looking at some websites and I'm like, oh, that person
- 23:13Speaker 2: gave me that one, and I know where that's from,
- 23:15Speaker 2: you know, from this copyright free place, and so four
- 23:18Speaker 2: other businesses may be able to use that same thing,
- 23:21Speaker 2: and true people people may not know that, you know,
- 23:25Speaker 2: but because I pay attention to certain things, and because
- 23:27Speaker 2: I'm always looking at websites and I could kind of
- 23:30Speaker 2: see certain things, and I may look at it a
- 23:32Speaker 2: little differently than other people. But some people may be
- 23:35Speaker 2: like always just on this website, and I'll run another
- 23:38Speaker 2: website and they both have the same images and all that, so,
- 23:42Speaker 2: you know.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Right, So people could use a template, but then you
- 23:46Speaker 1: get I mean, templates are good. They help you a
- 23:49Speaker 1: good clip to speak quickly, right, but you still have
- 23:52Speaker 1: to make it your own.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, one hundred percent.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 3: I can't just be like, well I'm going to do
- 23:56Speaker 3: this template. Cool.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You know, if you're going to do a template, that's
- 23:59Speaker 2: totally fine. And you know, I use templates sometimes, but
- 24:02Speaker 2: it's still taking the It's it's like, well, we're gonna
- 24:05Speaker 2: move all this stuff around, and also I need your stuff.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I'm not gonna use you know whatever or anything like that,
- 24:12Speaker 2: and it maybe okay for right now, we're gonna launch
- 24:14Speaker 2: the website and then you're gonna give me this stuff. Cool, awesome,
- 24:17Speaker 2: But you want them to because that's part of the storytelling.
- 24:21Speaker 2: You want them to see you. You want them to
- 24:23Speaker 2: see who you are and your employees, if you have
- 24:26Speaker 2: any in your place of work, right, all that sort
- 24:29Speaker 2: of stuff you want them to do. You want them
- 24:31Speaker 2: to connect with you and all that. So, yeah, so
- 24:33Speaker 2: being mindful of stock images because people can tell when
- 24:37Speaker 2: they're stock images and you know, hot take, but you know,
- 24:40Speaker 2: using AI images, you need to be very careful with
- 24:43Speaker 2: that for multiple reasons. But one is because and obviously
- 24:46Speaker 2: if your business is built on AI like imagery, I'm
- 24:49Speaker 2: not talking about that, but like I've been to a
- 24:52Speaker 2: couple of websites where I'm like, well, that's very clearly AI,
- 24:56Speaker 2: mainly because the person has five hands or five it's
- 25:00Speaker 2: like five fingers. It's gibberish, right, their tie starts up
- 25:04Speaker 2: here and like it ends up over like on the bottom,
- 25:07Speaker 2: you know, and it's just why is there two sons?
- 25:09Speaker 2: This isn't tattooy, you know. Yeah, yeah, you gotta you
- 25:12Speaker 2: got to really pay attention to AI imagery, you know,
- 25:15Speaker 2: and really make sure that you're paying attention to that,
- 25:17Speaker 2: because it could come out a little wonky.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well, I mean, I think I think people
- 25:21Speaker 1: realize if you don't, AI doesn't think for you. It
- 25:24Speaker 1: just takes them prompt and so whatever you're telling it
- 25:28Speaker 1: to do. I'm here in California. If I said I
- 25:30Speaker 1: was going down to the river, most if I told
- 25:34Speaker 1: somebody like that lived here, like I know Roger, you
- 25:35Speaker 1: live down you would say that's probably the river. But
- 25:38Speaker 1: if I put down in the AI what river? It
- 25:40Speaker 1: doesn't know where I am in the world. Yeah, there's
- 25:43Speaker 1: no condition. Yeah where what river are we going to do?
- 25:49Speaker 1: It takes whatever you you and then like you said,
- 25:51Speaker 1: it puts it out there. So be be careful that.
- 25:54Speaker 1: One of the other things you mentioned while you're talking
- 25:56Speaker 1: talking about it's it's for clients, but it was also
- 25:59Speaker 1: for for employees are potential. I would say employees, like
- 26:03Speaker 1: I think a lot of them are looking at their
- 26:04Speaker 1: website and saying, what are you about? What do you
- 26:07Speaker 1: what's your mission? What are your values? Is this somebody
- 26:11Speaker 1: that I align with? And I think and I think
- 26:14Speaker 1: thinking about that too, not just from a client perspective
- 26:17Speaker 1: call to action, but like the people that might come
- 26:20Speaker 1: to work for your company, right, Roger, we have to
- 26:22Speaker 1: think about that as well.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 26:25Speaker 2: I'm actually part of this organization that I volunteered for
- 26:28Speaker 2: and disrupt a chart, And one of the talks that
- 26:31Speaker 2: I talked about was like, what are you doing on
- 26:34Speaker 2: your website? Because it's like your company website maybe doing
- 26:36Speaker 2: this thing, but then when it comes to like the
- 26:39Speaker 2: HR portion, it's like nobody pays attention to it, and
- 26:42Speaker 2: it's like, well, your your you know, your website and
- 26:46Speaker 2: your your job ad is marketing, you know, and if
- 26:50Speaker 2: you're showing these generic images, if you're just showing these
- 26:53Speaker 2: confusing images, people are going to be like, well, they're
- 26:57Speaker 2: selling something, but I'm not really sure that's how it's
- 27:01Speaker 2: going to be, you know, and they want to see
- 27:04Speaker 2: and obviously, you know, you can't show everything. But there's
- 27:07Speaker 2: this one awesome example of this website where I was
- 27:10Speaker 2: they took a cue really from from the movies.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:13Speaker 2: They didn't just tell, they showed. You know, we always
- 27:15Speaker 2: talk about benefits, but they showed all the different benefits
- 27:19Speaker 2: that you were going to have, but people actually using
- 27:21Speaker 2: those benefits. So like they showed lodging and then they
- 27:24Speaker 2: showed them, you know, uh for company benefits like you know,
- 27:27Speaker 2: parties and food and all that sort of stuff, and
- 27:30Speaker 2: it's like, oh cool, Yeah they took the time to
- 27:32Speaker 2: do that instead of just listing out all the different
- 27:35Speaker 2: things that you know that that they give you. It's
- 27:38Speaker 2: oh cool, awesome. I can see myself in that image
- 27:42Speaker 2: doing that thing. Or that's not really a place I
- 27:45Speaker 2: want to work out because I'm not really you know,
- 27:47Speaker 2: into that, or that's not really what I'm looking for.
- 27:49Speaker 1: You know.
- 27:49Speaker 2: It's it's a both and sort of thing and attract
- 27:52Speaker 2: and it also you know, it attracts.
- 27:54Speaker 1: And propell right in a good way. Yeah, if you're
- 27:59Speaker 1: if you what's what's that saying? If you're everything to everybody,
- 28:03Speaker 1: you're nothing. You're basically nothing, right because it's like you
- 28:05Speaker 1: don't differentiate yourself. Yes, right, I got a question follow
- 28:11Speaker 1: up question for you. What are the common things that
- 28:13Speaker 1: you see when you go to a website, either you're
- 28:17Speaker 1: working on a website or one where you're like, man,
- 28:19Speaker 1: that is that's like I'll just use one like a
- 28:22Speaker 1: dead link, Like somebody is going to click on it.
- 28:24Speaker 1: It doesn't work, it doesn't take me, and there they're frustrated,
- 28:26Speaker 1: right or there? What are what are the things the
- 28:29Speaker 1: common things that you're seeing Roger Grant website. So because
- 28:32Speaker 1: it could have worked at one point, it's just somebody
- 28:33Speaker 1: moves something, they changed something and they didn't realize oh
- 28:37Speaker 1: you know that you see, Like so then again it
- 28:39Speaker 1: repels somebody, right if they this is they like, it
- 28:42Speaker 1: doesn't work, I'm leaving right, So what are the things
- 28:45Speaker 1: you see that kind of have people come to the
- 28:47Speaker 1: website bounce and they're like, they're not staying along. And
- 28:50Speaker 1: I feel like if you would have just stayed long enough,
- 28:51Speaker 1: there's actually really good cool stuff here, but you whatever,
- 28:54Speaker 1: it hit them and they left.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Yeah you know, well so so just like you said,
- 28:58Speaker 2: if you would have stayed longer, and it's like, well,
- 29:00Speaker 2: you have to do that at the top, right because
- 29:02Speaker 2: as soon as they get there, you have to let
- 29:04Speaker 2: them know what you do, why they should care, and
- 29:06Speaker 2: what they you know, what you want them to do
- 29:09Speaker 2: on the website. And so yeah, dead links are definitely
- 29:11Speaker 2: something that I see. I don't see that a ton
- 29:15Speaker 2: I don't. I don't see dead links a ton unless
- 29:17Speaker 2: you start getting like further into the website, you know,
- 29:20Speaker 2: because now all of a sudden, this like gigantic website.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 29:23Speaker 3: But to be completely honest with you, I do.
- 29:25Speaker 2: All I offer like free website check out right, I'll
- 29:28Speaker 2: give you a free five video, I'll do three things
- 29:31Speaker 2: that you can do on your website.
- 29:33Speaker 3: And to be completely honest with you, like ninety.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Five percent of the time, I don't even get past
- 29:37Speaker 2: like the actual opening, like the header image of the website,
- 29:41Speaker 2: because yeah, yeah, yeah, it's because like and then out
- 29:46Speaker 2: of those like seventy seven out of ten, seventy percent
- 29:48Speaker 2: of them, they don't have a call to action or
- 29:51Speaker 2: if it is, it's kind of vague it maybe learn more,
- 29:53Speaker 2: and it's like, well maybe maybe you're I don't know,
- 29:57Speaker 2: you're a contractor right or something like that, right, and
- 29:59Speaker 2: it's like it needs to be called now, right or
- 30:01Speaker 2: get a quote, not you know, learn more, or even worse,
- 30:04Speaker 2: they don't even have one. And I remember there was
- 30:06Speaker 2: this one website I was looking at and I was
- 30:09Speaker 2: like wow, like I got to the bottom of the
- 30:11Speaker 2: website and I said, wow, this is really good. And
- 30:13Speaker 2: I told them and I said, the problem is is
- 30:15Speaker 2: that your website is upside down.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Everything that you have.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Down here, you need to put it all up here
- 30:20Speaker 2: on the top and everything that you had down there,
- 30:22Speaker 2: just leave it down there, right Because like it was like, oh,
- 30:25Speaker 2: this is actually really cool stuff. You're offering this and
- 30:27Speaker 2: you have this and then you can call you these
- 30:29Speaker 2: are really great pictures and blah blah blah and all
- 30:31Speaker 2: that sort of stuff. But as I I was like,
- 30:34Speaker 2: you just you got to put all that stuff these
- 30:36Speaker 2: last three sections. You got to put that at the
- 30:37Speaker 2: top of the website, because I guarantee you people aren't
- 30:40Speaker 2: scrolling all the way down. I'm scrolling down because I'm
- 30:43Speaker 2: helping you and I'm looking at it with you, but
- 30:45Speaker 2: I can guarantee you people are not scrolling down, so
- 30:48Speaker 2: that those are those are definitely yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 2: So it's like you had a great website. You just
- 30:53Speaker 2: you know, you got to turn it around and you know,
- 30:56Speaker 2: put the bottom on the top and the put the
- 30:58Speaker 2: top on the bottom.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So you go, I love that well, and I loved that,
- 31:02Speaker 1: and I appreciate you offering that to our listeners. So
- 31:04Speaker 1: you guys heard that. If if if you want that,
- 31:06Speaker 1: you know, free assessment course certainly leave comments any comments
- 31:09Speaker 1: in the podcast here, We'll make sure Roger gets whether
- 31:12Speaker 1: it's on YouTube, LinkedIn, s Freaker, Spotify, Amazon Music, wherever,
- 31:16Speaker 1: wherever you guys find us and listening to us. If
- 31:18Speaker 1: you're listening to us, of course, come to YouTube you
- 31:20Speaker 1: want to see the video of us talking. I would
- 31:23Speaker 1: love you subscribing and follow along there. But and I'll
- 31:27Speaker 1: make sure we put the linked your website, Roger. And
- 31:30Speaker 1: of course we're connected on LinkedIn as well. And I
- 31:35Speaker 1: want to say, you know, I really appreciate that connection
- 31:38Speaker 1: with you, Roger, because ever from the get go, I
- 31:41Speaker 1: came into your National Collection group at the time, and
- 31:44Speaker 1: you were very welcoming. And I want to say that,
- 31:46Speaker 1: you know, the power of community and connection is really important.
- 31:51Speaker 1: And I think you know, having somebody that you can
- 31:53Speaker 1: talk to. I know Roger and I have had a
- 31:55Speaker 1: number of number of conversations and Roger, out of the
- 31:58Speaker 1: goodness has hard helped me look at the my LFE
- 32:00Speaker 1: Syde Collectibles page and help me improve that and give
- 32:03Speaker 1: me some great feedback. And I said, you know, that's
- 32:05Speaker 1: just who you are, Roger, and I appreciate that. And
- 32:08Speaker 1: I feel like that's if anybody gets a chance to
- 32:11Speaker 1: come visit SCN and come to a chapter, you get
- 32:13Speaker 1: to see Roger in his glory with all the other
- 32:16Speaker 1: members there coming to come to their mind. Talk a
- 32:18Speaker 1: little bit about just in business, how we how and
- 32:22Speaker 1: why we have about your journey of working with others
- 32:25Speaker 1: collaborative and not going on because I've worked with I've
- 32:27Speaker 1: talked with web folks before, particularly website folks, and they're
- 32:30Speaker 1: just a one man show. They don't talk with anybody else. Really,
- 32:33Speaker 1: it's just me and that's it. And talk about your
- 32:35Speaker 1: journey of like how you've been successful collaborating Roger.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Well when I first started, yeah, one hundred percent, I
- 32:41Speaker 2: was like, oh okay, it's just me, right, like everybody
- 32:45Speaker 2: else is competition sort of thing, right, Yeah, And then
- 32:47Speaker 2: I realized, well, like, oh okay, well actually I can't
- 32:50Speaker 2: do this alone.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Maybe I've gotten a few clients and I don't know
- 32:54Speaker 2: everything you know, and and they want and you know,
- 32:57Speaker 2: when I first started, yeah, i'll do email, mark me,
- 33:00Speaker 2: I'll do social media, I'll do this, I'll do that, right,
- 33:03Speaker 2: whatever you want me to do. And then I was
- 33:05Speaker 2: like I would do it. And I was just like
- 33:07Speaker 2: I really don't like doing you know, fill on the blank, right,
- 33:10Speaker 2: I was like, I really just like doing this, right,
- 33:12Speaker 2: And so really going through SEM going through networking, whether
- 33:16Speaker 2: in person or virtual, it's really helped me like realize like, oh,
- 33:19Speaker 2: you know what, instead of competing against everybody, I can
- 33:22Speaker 2: collaborate because you know what, I know this web designer
- 33:26Speaker 2: and they actually do e commerce. I don't do e commerce,
- 33:29Speaker 2: and I don't want to touch that with a ten
- 33:31Speaker 2: foot poll, right, and so they yeah, they can, they
- 33:34Speaker 2: can do that. Yes, I actually know somebody who can
- 33:36Speaker 2: help you with that, and they're much better at it
- 33:38Speaker 2: because that's what they focus on alternatively, right. You know
- 33:42Speaker 2: this web designer, they don't work with nonprofits because they
- 33:45Speaker 2: have other things that they're doing and awesome, cool, Well, hey,
- 33:47Speaker 2: I love working with nonprofits. So yeah, you know we're
- 33:49Speaker 2: able to collaborate or you know, talking with people in Google.
- 33:53Speaker 2: You know they do Google Ads. Well I don't do
- 33:55Speaker 2: Google Ads because I've seen I've seen that and that
- 33:57Speaker 2: is a.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Full time thing in and of itself.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Right, So now we're able to like, hey, form my
- 34:02Speaker 2: job as a Google Ads person for my job to
- 34:05Speaker 2: actually work for your business. Your website needs to be
- 34:08Speaker 2: better and it's not. And so I you know, I
- 34:11Speaker 2: know somebody cool, awesome, I know somebody who's in videography. Hey,
- 34:14Speaker 2: you need some help with your finances, some helping with
- 34:17Speaker 2: you know, thinking through like what's your business, what is
- 34:20Speaker 2: your mission?
- 34:21Speaker 3: What is your vision? How are you going to steward
- 34:23Speaker 3: your business? Right? Yeah, there you go, I know I
- 34:25Speaker 3: know somebody for that, right.
- 34:27Speaker 2: And and that's been really that that that's been really
- 34:29Speaker 2: fantastic to to really kind of think through, because you know,
- 34:33Speaker 2: as you're talking to people, it's like, oh, hey, yeah,
- 34:36Speaker 2: you know what, I know somebody that you should meet
- 34:38Speaker 2: because they do this thing and you might have a
- 34:40Speaker 2: good synergy with them, you might really connect. And and
- 34:43Speaker 2: that's been really fantastic because it really when I first started,
- 34:49Speaker 2: I kind of had this idea of, you know, I've
- 34:53Speaker 2: never really been in the corporate world or I've never
- 34:56Speaker 2: really done this thing, you know, and so I don't
- 34:59Speaker 2: know how I and do this. And so hearing other
- 35:01Speaker 2: business owners and maybe they had only been doing it
- 35:03Speaker 2: for like a couple of years, or maybe they've been
- 35:05Speaker 2: doing it for ten years, and it was really cool
- 35:07Speaker 2: to hear them and they'd be like, hey, you need
- 35:09Speaker 2: to meet this person, and I was like, oh really,
- 35:11Speaker 2: like why you know, like, oh, okay, cool, and then
- 35:13Speaker 2: we have a great conversation. And eventually it came to
- 35:16Speaker 2: that point where I was like, I don't know a
- 35:18Speaker 2: lot of people yet. I mean, I've started to meet
- 35:20Speaker 2: some people, but like, I want to connect you to somebody,
- 35:24Speaker 2: you know, because like man, and it was really cool.
- 35:26Speaker 2: And then as I continued going on and as I
- 35:28Speaker 2: would chat with people, Oh, hey, you're looking to meet
- 35:31Speaker 2: with the CTO, you're looking to meet with the social
- 35:34Speaker 2: media you know, fill in the blank, whatever it is
- 35:36Speaker 2: that you're looking to meet. Cool. I actually know somebody.
- 35:38Speaker 2: You should definitely meet them because they're fantastic. And then
- 35:40Speaker 2: it just kind of made you feel like, oh, that's cool.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I'm doing something outside of competing and you know, like
- 35:47Speaker 2: trying to get it all for myself, and it's like cool,
- 35:49Speaker 2: Like I'm actually contributing, you know, to hopefully somebody's success
- 35:54Speaker 2: and being able to do that. And so that's been
- 35:56Speaker 2: really awesome. And there's been a few people that I've
- 35:58Speaker 2: continually introduced you know too, or I get introductions from,
- 36:02Speaker 2: and that's just really awesome because it's like, oh wow, cool,
- 36:04Speaker 2: I can I can help somebody else, and I can
- 36:07Speaker 2: help them find somebody really cool. And having that collaborative
- 36:11Speaker 2: versus competitive spirit has really started to kind of shape
- 36:16Speaker 2: who I am and what I am because you know it,
- 36:20Speaker 2: we can be like you said, we can be a silo,
- 36:22Speaker 2: one man show, or we can realize, like, hey, you
- 36:24Speaker 2: know what, everybody's going through something different and somebody else's
- 36:28Speaker 2: strength may be my weakness and vice versa, and let's
- 36:30Speaker 2: work together. And you know what, Hey, now we've helped
- 36:33Speaker 2: this client and now they're better off too because we're
- 36:36Speaker 2: building our business by building their business, and we've also
- 36:39Speaker 2: helped them be able to help somebody else.
- 36:41Speaker 3: And so it's been it's been really cool. It's been
- 36:43Speaker 3: a really awesome journey.
- 36:44Speaker 1: That's so great, Roger, And that's why I love to
- 36:46Speaker 1: have you on the podcast Your Day. I know we
- 36:48Speaker 1: could go longer. There's so much we could cover. Yeah,
- 36:52Speaker 1: we're going to do you guys, those of you that
- 36:54Speaker 1: want to hear a specific Star Wars podcast, we will.
- 36:59Speaker 1: We will glad they comply, but yes, we're going to
- 37:02Speaker 1: come back on that one. But no, I so appreciate that,
- 37:05Speaker 1: and that's the thought of again we're not doing this alone.
- 37:10Speaker 1: There's an abundance mindset. And I feel like when you
- 37:12Speaker 1: work with people that have an abundance mindset, knowing, hey,
- 37:15Speaker 1: there's yeah, you know what quote competitors out there, but
- 37:18Speaker 1: if it helps us all become better, we raise each
- 37:20Speaker 1: other up. I think that's the kind of people that
- 37:23Speaker 1: you want to work with. That's the people that you
- 37:24Speaker 1: want to bring into your organization. And I feel like, Roger,
- 37:27Speaker 1: I'm so good, grateful to have you here. Because if
- 37:29Speaker 1: people can get this dialed in, they can get their
- 37:31Speaker 1: website dialed in, and if they're not, if they're having
- 37:34Speaker 1: confusion and being challenges, what I see is it's it's
- 37:37Speaker 1: both twofold. It's like if they're confused and they're not
- 37:39Speaker 1: getting a dialed in the way they need it to be.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I look at the people rest of the people organization.
- 37:43Speaker 1: It is probably a little bit confusing inside the organization too.
- 37:46Speaker 1: What are the services off? What are we what are
- 37:48Speaker 1: we focusing on? Right, because it's just going to exude externally,
- 37:52Speaker 1: maybe they do understand a little bit more internally. But
- 37:54Speaker 1: still what I found is it will it will come
- 37:57Speaker 1: out at some point. So if you do this work
- 37:58Speaker 1: with Roger, and you're like getting clear on your story,
- 38:01Speaker 1: getting clear on your narrative and getting that out there.
- 38:05Speaker 1: It will benefit your people in the long run. And
- 38:09Speaker 1: that's why we have this synergy together, Like we're always
- 38:11Speaker 1: looking for, like how do we help each other. So
- 38:13Speaker 1: if I'm seeing a line that's struggling with the website
- 38:16Speaker 1: or not going and they've they've gone some iteration changes,
- 38:18Speaker 1: maybe leadership changes. Quite honestly, the direction the company has shifted. Well,
- 38:22Speaker 1: the company says we're doing this, this is how we're
- 38:24Speaker 1: doing things. And in fact, it was so funny, Roger,
- 38:28Speaker 1: I just talked with a friend of mine the other
- 38:29Speaker 1: day was working in this AI thing and this, and
- 38:31Speaker 1: on their website, I think it was on their their
- 38:33Speaker 1: website said hey, for questions, contact us via Skype. And
- 38:37Speaker 1: for the many of these that are no Skype is
- 38:39Speaker 1: no longer around of like a way to contact them
- 38:44Speaker 1: if they had a question your challenges. So technology is
- 38:47Speaker 1: saying shift and if you're not staying up and staying relevant,
- 38:50Speaker 1: it's like, again, I'm going to balance to somebody that
- 38:52Speaker 1: is relevant in today's age. And so having somebody like
- 38:56Speaker 1: you Roger come and look under the hood, so to
- 38:59Speaker 1: speak and you know, get that assessment. I think would
- 39:03Speaker 1: be great. Is there anything I want to you know,
- 39:05Speaker 1: as a reaping of the podcast? You know, the assessment
- 39:07Speaker 1: is definitely a great tool and we want people to
- 39:09Speaker 1: come and check that out. But is there anything else
- 39:11Speaker 1: that you would say, Hey, if you did nothing else,
- 39:14Speaker 1: if you're listening to this podcast, you're you're gonna you know,
- 39:17Speaker 1: move on to your next thing today that they should
- 39:19Speaker 1: they should do. The business owner of the individual that's
- 39:21Speaker 1: responsible for the website, well, what should they do? What's
- 39:24Speaker 1: the next action for them? Roger?
- 39:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say if you can, And it's hard
- 39:31Speaker 2: to because we're so close to our business, you know,
- 39:34Speaker 2: we're so close to what we do. When I first
- 39:37Speaker 2: asked people, well what is it that you do, it's
- 39:38Speaker 2: like a word vomit, right, and so there's all these
- 39:40Speaker 2: sort of stuff, and so if you can take yourself
- 39:44Speaker 2: out of that just for a moment and look at
- 39:47Speaker 2: your website and say, I know what I do, But
- 39:50Speaker 2: does Sally know what I do? Does David know what
- 39:54Speaker 2: I do?
- 39:54Speaker 3: Does so?
- 39:55Speaker 2: And so does somebody that I'm trying to, you know,
- 39:58Speaker 2: talk to, do they understand what I do? And honestly
- 40:02Speaker 2: take a few seconds. See if somebody that maybe is
- 40:05Speaker 2: not super familiar with your business or you know that
- 40:07Speaker 2: they just know it and just say hey. From just
- 40:09Speaker 2: this opening aspect of it, am I being vague? Or
- 40:12Speaker 2: am I trying to be clever? Am I confusing them?
- 40:15Speaker 2: Do people know what it is that I'm trying to do?
- 40:17Speaker 2: Because again, within that, like you know, they have three
- 40:21Speaker 2: seconds or something like that, right within that less than
- 40:23Speaker 2: five seconds, can people understand what I do, why they
- 40:28Speaker 2: should care, and how they can contact me? Because what
- 40:31Speaker 2: it comes down to is that, like I said earlier,
- 40:33Speaker 2: the bottom of your website is really nice, but the
- 40:35Speaker 2: top isn't. And if the top isn't, nobody is going
- 40:38Speaker 2: to get to the middle or the bottom of your website.
- 40:41Speaker 2: So and people tell what it is that you do
- 40:45Speaker 2: and why they should lean in or scroll down on
- 40:48Speaker 2: the website to continue that conversation with you, and that
- 40:52Speaker 2: would be I think the biggest thing that they need
- 40:54Speaker 2: to do. Am I being clear? Do people know what
- 40:57Speaker 2: I do? Do people know why they should care? And
- 41:00Speaker 2: do people know how to get in contact me and
- 41:01Speaker 2: further that conversation? That would be the big thing.
- 41:05Speaker 1: There You have it right there from Roger Jorns Reanimation Design. Roger,

- 41:48Speaker 1: force be with you. Thanks everybody,
