Latest / Urantia Radio / JOEL GARBON - WHAT IT'S LIKE TO TALK URANTIA TO A NATIONAL AUDIENCE
Transcript
- 0:01All right, well, we have Joel Garvin on the program.
- 0:03Joel's been on the show, I think this four or five times.
- 0:06We talked about UFOs and its relationship to the Urantia book
- 0:10and all things about that. And Joel, if you're familiar, is
- 0:15a is an engineer by trade and lives on the West Coast.
- 0:18And he was recently on a national program called Coast to
- 0:22Coast. Now, being in radio for as long
- 0:25as I've been, Coast to Coast is the number one radio program on
- 0:29the air across America. It's on like 1000 radio
- 0:32stations. It's on shortwave.
- 0:34It's used to be hosted by a guy by the name of Hard Bell who
- 0:37sort of set things in motion. So on that show, they talk a lot
- 0:42about the supernatural. They talk about ghosts, they
- 0:45talk about the paranormal. And this week, they talked to
- 0:48Joel Garban, your Rancher Book reader, about the Center for
- 0:52Unity and what's going on. And Joel, step in here.
- 0:55What was it like to be on knowing you're being being heard
- 0:58by 8 million people? Well, hey, Jim, Great, great,
- 1:03great to be back on. With you, yeah.
- 1:05Yeah, I, yeah, it was, it was a wonderful opportunity to be back
- 1:10on the Coast to Coast AM program.
- 1:14You know, I, I had been on that show twice before, but it was on
- 1:19the topic of breakthrough energy technologies, which was
- 1:23something that I was heavily involved in.
- 1:27And the last time I was on that program was about 8 years ago.
- 1:30So, you know, when I, when I got involved with the Center for
- 1:34Unity about a year ago or so, one of the things that I had
- 1:38committed to the group was, was this idea that I think I can get
- 1:44on the Coast to Coast radio show and, and, you know, basically
- 1:50try to get more exposure for the Center for Unity projects.
- 1:55And I was getting a little bit worried that that, that, that,
- 2:01that it may not happen. And so I was getting a little
- 2:05despondent about that. But then all of a sudden I got a
- 2:08call from the producers of the program and they said, Hey, you
- 2:14want to come on coast? And I said, yeah.
- 2:16And I, and here's what I want to talk about.
- 2:19And I, I proposed the topic of ETS and religion and, and they
- 2:26accepted that. And of course that allowed me to
- 2:32to dovetail in the topic of the Urantia book.
- 2:36And then of course the Center for Unity projects as auxiliary
- 2:41to that. So we had we had a really great
- 2:442 hour interview between the host, George Nori and myself.
- 2:50It included call in audience members.
- 2:55There were several folks who who called in with questions and
- 2:58that was, that was a lot of fun. And I'll tell you the, the
- 3:03Purdue or the, the host of the program, George Nori, he, he
- 3:07just continuously asked questions about the Urantia book
- 3:12through that full 2 hour interview.
- 3:14It really was remarkable. So we had a chance to to do a
- 3:19real deep dive on a number of the topics that, you know,
- 3:23anyone who reads the book would be familiar with.
- 3:26And it just totally blew away my expectations for how much we
- 3:34would be able to go into depth about it.
- 3:37And I got to make a good strong plug for the Center for Unity
- 3:42and the Discover Jesus project and the Jesus Chatbot project.
- 3:48And apparently the Rick Lyon at the Center for Unity, he had
- 3:55been closely monitoring the metrics as far as the website
- 3:59traffic for CFU. And then, you know, Discover
- 4:04Jesus website and they, they took a real bump, a real bump up
- 4:11in the traffic, which is exactly what we were hoping to get.
- 4:17And so I, I do feel really good about that, just really happy.
- 4:22I kind of feel a bit a bit vindicated.
- 4:26You know. That, you know, I kind of put,
- 4:29put this commitment out there and that now it's been fulfilled
- 4:33and I'm just so grateful that, that it's worked out.
- 4:37And there were some really cool things that happened that I have
- 4:43to, to definitely credit, you know, the, the spiritual forces
- 4:50that are working with us on this.
- 4:53I mean, I'll, I'll just use the word Holy Spirit because that's
- 4:55the way I, I just tend to speak about, you know, the, the spirit
- 5:00sponsor. So whatever whatever the the
- 5:04subfolder was or the sub person, it's it originally would be
- 5:07either through the Divine Mother or through Michael himself.
- 5:12So yeah, we're all bases are covered, right, You know?
- 5:15Yeah, exactly. So, so some of some of the cool,
- 5:19some of the cool things that really happened was, you know,
- 5:23Rick Lyon from CFU, you know, as I was kind of lamenting that
- 5:29this, this, this opportunity to be on a program came much later
- 5:34than what I'd earlier, earlier hoped.
- 5:37And he said, he said, no, Joel, actually the timing is really
- 5:40good because now the bandwidth of the website had been
- 5:45increased to be able to handle much more traffic.
- 5:49And as you know, Jim, when, when you are on a major program and
- 5:54all of a sudden a bunch of people suddenly check out a
- 5:56website, they can crash the website if you get too traffic
- 6:01at once. But now the bandwidth had been
- 6:03increased for the CFU website and and the other project
- 6:09websites. So they were able to handle that
- 6:11increase traffic easily. The other thing was that the
- 6:17amount of content that's now on the the Discover Jesus website
- 6:22is way, way more than it was just even a few months ago.
- 6:27So there's a lot more things for, for people to see on that
- 6:31one. And now also there been about
- 6:3550,000 questions submitted to the Ask Jesus chatbot.
- 6:40So to be able to even say that on the, the interview gives it a
- 6:45lot of credibility. So, so from Rick's standpoint,
- 6:49the timing was much, much better now.
- 6:51So, so that, that was great. Then the other thing that was
- 6:55just an amazing, call it a coincidence if you will, but I,
- 6:59I, I think it's more than a coincidence.
- 7:02The, the guest on the, the coast program right before me and the
- 7:09way they, they do it, they have two different segments.
- 7:11They have, they have a first half guest and then the
- 7:15second-half guest. I was the second-half guest and
- 7:19and so that was a 2 hour time slot from midnight till 2:00 AM.
- 7:24The 1st guest in the the 10:00 PM to midnight was a very, very
- 7:32well known UFO researcher named Richard Dolan.
- 7:37And Dolan has a very strong following and the coast to coast
- 7:41listening audience really, really likes him.
- 7:45They really respect him. And so having Richard Dolan on
- 7:49that first segment definitely increased the listenership for
- 7:54that particular night. And so, so that of course, would
- 7:57carry over into my own segment because he, he's, he's, you
- 8:01know, really, I mean, he's, he's a celebrity basically and
- 8:08definitely contributed. And, and Richard and I also know
- 8:12each other and are, are definitely, you know, on a
- 8:15friendly basis. And right at the end of his
- 8:18interview, he made a very generous and, and nice
- 8:23compliment to me and my work. And that was just a beautiful
- 8:32Segway and a real boost, you know, going into, you know, my
- 8:37segment of the show. So it could not have been more
- 8:42beautifully orchestrated. And I, you know what?
- 8:46And I really appreciate that, you know, the folks on the
- 8:49program, including the producers, the webmasters, and
- 8:52the host himself, George Nori, the opportunity they gave us.
- 8:57But I am absolutely sure that, you know, the, the, the Holy
- 9:01Spirit was, you know, very much in tune with what was going on
- 9:07and was helping to orchestrate things so that we got maximum
- 9:12leverage out of the opportunity. So I I just really feel on a
- 9:16high right now. Good job, Yeah.
- 9:19About this and I'm really grateful that that you were
- 9:23having me on the program right now to talk to, you know, your
- 9:28audience and, and just let him know, hey, this was a really
- 9:31cool thing that happened and gave increased exposure to
- 9:35something that we all believe is quite important.
- 9:38Well, I am glad that you let me know because being the fan I am
- 9:42of you and your work and your research, and you know, I'm a
- 9:45big advocate that we need to be talking about this book in a
- 9:49more open fashion. Because it just happened that I
- 9:52was reading today that some of the feedback from the Kansas
- 9:56City study session that went on just a couple weeks ago in July
- 10:01in Kansas City. And there were a lot of notable
- 10:03Urantia book readers there, some generational and someone had
- 10:07asked, you know, how are the 1st 70 years of the revelation
- 10:10going? And surprisingly, or maybe not
- 10:13surprisingly, a lot of people said, you know, we could have
- 10:15done a better job. We have.
- 10:17We've sort of dragged our feet a little bit in some ways of
- 10:21publicly talking about the book and in creating awareness.
- 10:25I think somebody made the point it might have been Mark Wood or
- 10:27maybe it was maybe even been most Eagle.
- 10:31But someone had made the comment that, you know, it was shrouded
- 10:35during the early years pre publication, the whole group of
- 10:39400 or so people that were part of the, the, the, you know, the
- 10:42people that reviewed the book, you know, there was such an air
- 10:45of secrecy. There was an air of secrecy
- 10:48around it. You had to sign an oath.
- 10:50And so it was kind of hard to to go from total secrecy about the
- 10:54Urantia book to now it's published.
- 10:57Now it's time to herald the new revelation.
- 11:00And I think we're now kind of getting some momentum with the
- 11:03CFU and what the great work that they're doing and all of the
- 11:07people out there, the quality of the work now that people are
- 11:10writing about, it's just it's starting to to take a it's
- 11:14starting to solidify, You know, in many ways.
- 11:18You going on Nori is a big deal because, you know, obviously the
- 11:23midwayers and the Seraphs of, of destiny, they work with, with,
- 11:27with us and, and, you know, if they're coordinating things
- 11:31behind the scenes. So let's just say that the
- 11:34people who needed to hear probably heard it and we may
- 11:39have touched some people. There's a lot of lonely people
- 11:42out there, man, you and I both know, I think they're hungry.
- 11:46They're hungry for something that will give them some meaning
- 11:50in their life. And I think a lot of people
- 11:53through the Urantia book will rediscover the teachings of
- 11:57Jesus. And it's almost like I get the
- 11:59sense that people want the Jesus without the luggage.
- 12:02You know, they want the, you know, they want the Jesus
- 12:05without the church. That's what it seems like to me
- 12:07because the church now has become so intertwined in the
- 12:11culture as they talk about. And what is it, paper one O 9 or
- 12:14one O 7, the social problems of religion.
- 12:17But it is true, we could do more.
- 12:19And I think if they're celebrities that read the
- 12:21Urantia book, they should talk about it.
- 12:24You know, if you're why not? Why not?
- 12:27I mean, you hear Madonna talking about being part of whatever
- 12:30she's a part of and all these other weird, You know, we might
- 12:33as well join the fray and introduce the word urantia to
- 12:40the lexicon. And and that could be a healthy
- 12:42first step and, and, and take whatever we get.
- 12:45But the days of moving about in secret, I don't think that's
- 12:49what the Melchizedek missionaries did, or the Sethite
- 12:51priests, or or even the the apostles of Jesus.
- 12:55They didn't go around whispering the Gospel.
- 12:59You know right You. Want to hear something really
- 13:01cool? Yeah, you're, you're you're
- 13:04exactly right. I mean, they were called
- 13:06evangelists, right? You know Jesus was training
- 13:09evangelists, not not, you know, ascetics.
- 13:15Yeah, exactly. Yeah, you know, but here's the
- 13:18thing. And then this is the most
- 13:20amazing thing. And and it's one of the reasons
- 13:21we've had Yuan. I think that the reason that we
- 13:25have not had contact with ET life is because they look at us
- 13:30and they know that we are really backward.
- 13:32And the thing about the Urantia book is it declares that Jesus
- 13:36is not only the creator Son of man, son of God, of our world,
- 13:41but he's the son of man and son of God for all the world's.
- 13:45That's a big expansion on a theme.
- 13:49And and most people would be like, what you mean?
- 13:52If I go to planet Pleiades, they're going to know about
- 13:55Jesus, say they'll know about Michael, they'll know about us.
- 13:59If they're an advanced society, they're probably going to know
- 14:01about us. You know, we, we know that we've
- 14:04been severed because of the quarantine.
- 14:07So we don't get that extra space broadcast that we would normally
- 14:12be entitled to. And we're thousands of years
- 14:14away from that, but we got to get going.
- 14:16I mean, we're So what did they say?
- 14:18We're a, we're a full epic behind in terms of our spiritual
- 14:22and intellectual growth. And I think the Arantia book is
- 14:25going to prepare us for the shock when we finally do get to
- 14:29that point where we discover that there's not only life, but
- 14:33there's abundant life. What?
- 14:35What? Do you?
- 14:36Well, yeah, Yeah, Jim. So we have right now in our
- 14:43midst intense interest in activity even at the
- 14:46congressional level in the United States, looking at this
- 14:49whole topic of UFOs, ET visitations, all of this.
- 14:55I mean, this is a very important moment as far as bringing this
- 15:01topic into the mainstream. You know what, what does the
- 15:06have to say about why there even is celestial interest in this
- 15:11planet? I mean they name a couple of
- 15:13them actually I think. I think they named three
- 15:16different reasons. You know, 1 is that we are a
- 15:19life modification sphere, you know, a decimal planet, one
- 15:24where there are new forms of life that are here and they
- 15:28don't exist anywhere else. So that's one reason why they're
- 15:31there is interest in our planet from other extraterrestrial
- 15:35cultures. The other key reason is that
- 15:39Jesus chose this for his 7th bestow.
- 15:43He chose our beleaguered little, you know, double handicapped
- 15:48world to be the one where he came and basically revealed
- 15:54himself to the human order of being.
- 15:57And, you know, that translates to to the whole universe of, you
- 16:04know, nearly 4 million planets to this point in the universe of
- 16:10of Nebadon. And so they're like, wow, you
- 16:13know, he chose to go to that little blue-green sphere there.
- 16:18You know, let's go check that out.
- 16:20And then a third reason they say is that there's an Archangel
- 16:26headquarters here on our planet, which apparently is, is quite
- 16:31unusual. And at that, that draws extra
- 16:35interest. So anyway, the, the, you know,
- 16:38they use the term student visitors to describe, you know,
- 16:43human beings from other planets who, who have the sophistication
- 16:48and the ability to travel, you know, from world to world,
- 16:54basically doing, you know, research or observation or
- 16:58other, other forms of, of study and, you know, probably various
- 17:02kinds. And they've been coming here for
- 17:04a long time, and for good reason.
- 17:07Well, you know, if we've got celestial visitors coming here
- 17:12to understand more about our planet, well, how about if, if
- 17:17the native inhabitants of our world start to learn a little
- 17:22bit more about our planet and its history, its origin, its
- 17:27destiny, the time seems to be really ripe.
- 17:32So I, I think we're in a very, very leveraged moment right now.
- 17:37And it, it's exciting. I think it's really exciting.
- 17:40I think it's exciting too. And, and it's warranted too,
- 17:42because we see society seemingly coming apart at the at the
- 17:48seams. You know, it seems like the
- 17:49fabric of society, everything's being questioned.
- 17:52But the Urantia book very clearly says, you know, we're
- 17:55out of the safe harbors and now we're on the rough seas and, and
- 17:59much is going to be decided. But more things are happening
- 18:02now in this generation and in the following generations that
- 18:06have happened in the entirety of human history.
- 18:08So these aren't exciting times, depending on your perspective.
- 18:12And yeah. And only good, I think, could
- 18:14come now from trying to expose people to at least the truths of
- 18:19the Urantia book that will widen the scope and not make them feel
- 18:22so helpless as if there's no meaning to the universe.
- 18:26Because that's the sad part. There are a lot of people, a lot
- 18:28of young people today that's like, I don't know what to
- 18:31believe in anymore. And yes, and that's where we can
- 18:34come in and make a big difference because we're not a
- 18:36religion. You know, people don't always
- 18:39try to, you know, they, they take preconceived notions and
- 18:42they apply them to you and they say, oh, you're just another
- 18:45religion. No, there's, there's no church,
- 18:47you know, there's no priest. It's just the book and what you
- 18:51get from it and how it can change your perspective on your
- 18:54life and the life of people around you and it it will make
- 18:59you a better person. And you'll want to be a better
- 19:01person once you realize what the universal plan of ascension is
- 19:05really all about. So.
- 19:08Yeah, that is such a key point, Jim, and I'm glad that that you
- 19:11do, you know, remind your audience of that, that that hey,
- 19:16these are teachings. This is information.
- 19:20These are not, this is not a church.
- 19:23This is not a cult. This is this is not dogma or
- 19:29anything doctrinal, anything like that.
- 19:32This, this is information and wisdom teachings in a book that
- 19:39are meant to uplift all of humanity, no matter your
- 19:43background, whether it's your, your this culture or of this
- 19:47profession or or of this ethnicity or this religion.
- 19:52It's meant to uplift everybody. And, and I'm glad that you you
- 19:57do regularly remind your listeners of that.
- 20:01I tried to do that, you know, on the the coast to coast
- 20:04appearance as well to. And I know that the audience
- 20:08there, I think a lot of it is, is Christian leaning, which, you
- 20:14know, that's great, but also a lot of it is not.
- 20:18And I wanted them to understand that, hey, this is for
- 20:22everybody. This is for everybody.
- 20:25And you know, if you just take a look at it, especially the the
- 20:30teachings of Jesus, which can be applied to to everybody's life
- 20:35and can uplift them and help them develop a personal
- 20:39relationship with the creator and, and everyone could benefit
- 20:45from that indefinitely. The emphasis was put on how
- 20:50challenged our youth are at this moment and with the the cultural
- 20:56pressures that are on them. And many of those cultural
- 21:01pressures are inverted and some of them even perverted.
- 21:08And it is it is putting a world of hurt on our young people.
- 21:12And so I started out the program with a deep concern about the
- 21:19the the unprecedented rates of depression and anxiety and
- 21:25feelings of hopelessness and lack of meaning and purpose in
- 21:28the lives of young people. And that we want to address what
- 21:35you know, I've called the God sized hole in the heart that
- 21:39these young people are experiencing.
- 21:41We want to help correct that. And the Urantia book provides
- 21:46what what we all recognize as the best the best remedy for
- 21:52this. If they come to become familiar
- 21:55with the life and teachings of Jesus, as it's presented in the
- 21:59Urantia book on awful lot of these young people are going to
- 22:03feel a revert, a resurgence of hope and and they're going to
- 22:08have a renewal of purpose and meaning.
- 22:12And it's it's time we're ready. In fact, this is the time we
- 22:16can't wait around anymore for this.
- 22:20And Jim, I got to tell you something that's funny is this
- 22:24weekend, I guess, as I was kind of getting ready for for the
- 22:28interview, just the thought came to me of, you know, I'm going to
- 22:32go get have some little business cards printed up that have the
- 22:38that have the websites of the discoverjesus.com and then the
- 22:45website for ask Jesus chat bot. And just going to have those
- 22:51those just shown prominently on a little business card and over
- 22:54the top of it was just going to be a little byline that says
- 22:58inspiring youth and young adults.
- 23:02And so I just went out and just printed it gone, printed it up
- 23:06at the local OfficeMax, got a box of 250 of them.
- 23:10And then yesterday, on the heels of having finished that Coast to
- 23:16Coast interview the night before, I went out to a place to
- 23:19get breakfast and there were several tables full of, of young
- 23:24adults there. And I gave, I gave those cards,
- 23:28which is a little brief, you know, brief question and a brief
- 23:34request. And it, and it simply went like
- 23:37this. I said, I said hi.
- 23:39You know, I'm working with some people who are, who are very
- 23:44concerned about why young people are feeling so turned off by the
- 23:52life and teachings of Jesus as it's currently being presented
- 23:57to them. We would like your feedback on a
- 24:02couple of projects that we're working on.
- 24:04Here are the websites. Would you please just take two
- 24:07minutes to check them out at your convenience and give us
- 24:11feedback? Thank you.
- 24:13And and just did that to a couple of these small groups of
- 24:17young people and they're like, yeah, sure.
- 24:20And that's it. It was, it was like a maybe a
- 24:22one minute interaction. So wasn't obtrusive, wasn't
- 24:28preachy, nothing, and just gave them the business card and and
- 24:33in a way and and we can do things as simple as that.
- 24:38That can can be an intriguing little introduction and simple
- 24:47request. And then just let it go where
- 24:50it's gonna go. Yeah.
- 24:51And I think because all of these, all of these young people
- 24:54are already have their, their smartphone in their hand, if not
- 24:59right there next to them with within that 2 minutes, they
- 25:03already can check it out and, and be like, oh, wow, either
- 25:07either like, huh, wow, that's kind of neat.
- 25:10And they might instantly start sharing it with their social
- 25:13network. That's the way.
- 25:14To do it. Or maybe they're like, well, I'm
- 25:16not really interested in looking this right now, but some of them
- 25:19definitely will go like, wow, I'm going to look, look at this
- 25:22more deeply and they're going to start sharing it.
- 25:25There's lots of ways we could do the outreach.
- 25:27There's no, there's never been a time where you can reach more
- 25:31people. I don't know if I've ever said
- 25:32this before, but it's a great quote that a guy mentioned.
- 25:37If for people who are familiar with Jordan Peterson, he says in
- 25:41your lifetime, you'll meet 1000 people and every one of the
- 25:45people that you meet, they'll also meet 1000 people each,
- 25:49which puts you one person away from influencing 1,000,000
- 25:54people. Wow, that's cool.
- 25:57And you and it's one of these simple little things that what
- 26:00you just did or yeah, that's that's the kind of, you know,
- 26:05just nudging people, letting them know it's there, you know,
- 26:09mentioning it, getting them familiar.
- 26:11Sometimes I'll do if there's something in the news like, you
- 26:14know this story where it talks about the part and the whole and
- 26:19it talks about the ramifications of, of sin and how everybody
- 26:24shares in the victories of like in a family, you share the
- 26:28victories that you're the members of the families, but you
- 26:31also share in the defeats. Yes.
- 26:35And that's an important lesson to learn because when we're all
- 26:38shocked by shootings and and the things that we see, we're all
- 26:43affected by it because we're all part of the same family.
- 26:45And none of that's going to go away until we work cooperatively
- 26:49as one family to restore the moral equilibrium that is out of
- 26:53whack. And we do that through our
- 26:56personal relationships and just getting the truth out there, the
- 26:59truth, the light of truth out there can have such a
- 27:02transforming effect. And you know that, I know that.
- 27:04We all know that. So.
- 27:06But Joel, you know, it's really great to catch up with you.
- 27:08And I'm so glad. And I know anybody who heard
- 27:12Joel Garvin on. And, you know, they play those
- 27:15as repeats often on the weekend or on Sunday night.
- 27:19So you're bound to get, if you got a lot of caller reaction,
- 27:23they'll know and they'll play that maybe a few times.
- 27:26So good. Good job on that one, you know.
- 27:28Yeah. Hey, Jim, if I could let so.
- 27:31So let me inform folks how they can definitely listen to that
- 27:37program on Coast to Coast, you know, and, and can do it
- 27:42directly and quickly If you go, if you go to
- 27:45thecoasttocoastam.com website and then they have what they
- 27:52call their Coast Insider. That's the name of their
- 27:57subscribers. And I, I think it's just $5 for
- 28:02a monthly subscription that allows you to listen to all of
- 28:08their archive programs, not just, it's not like 5 bucks for
- 28:11one program, it's 5 bucks for all of their archive programs.
- 28:16And so all you would need to do is, is to, is to subscribe there
- 28:21for a A1 month of, of 5 bucks and then go to the September 3
- 28:29episode with, you know, with, you know, my name, Joel Garban
- 28:34on there. And, and you'll be able to
- 28:36listen to it with no commercial interruptions.
- 28:40And of course, there's all kinds that and I would encourage you
- 28:42to listen to the, the Richard Dolan episode that was just
- 28:47prior to mine as well, because you'll see how it dovetailed in
- 28:51so beautifully, almost like, you know, it was seemed to be
- 28:55orchestrated and there's all kinds of other things you could
- 28:58listen to. So anyway that that's something
- 29:00that people may choose to to do if they want to listen to that 2
- 29:04hour interview. OK, sounds good.
- 29:07And you can also just Google coast to coast with George Nori
- 29:11and it's NOORE Nori. All right, Joel, good to catch
- 29:16up with you and I'm really happy that you were able to do that
- 29:18and we could share with our your Rancho book family.
- 29:21So thanks again for coming on the show.
- 29:23I appreciate it and God bless you and your family and we'll
- 29:26talk to you soon. Sounds good.
- 29:29Thank you, Jim.
