- 2:14Keri Croft: We are open to it.
- 2:15Keri Croft: We are very open.
- 2:16Keri Croft: Those are all good letters, too.
- 2:18Keri Croft: The V is a really good letter.
- 2:19Keri Croft: W I love.
- 2:20Keri Croft: H C.
- 2:20Keri Croft: I think I could totally see a strong ackey.
- 2:23Keri Croft: All right.
- 2:23Keri Croft: I like it.
- 2:24Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 2:24Keri Croft: So who wants to go?
- 2:25Keri Croft: Who wants to tell the story about how this little precious like passion project was hatched?
- 2:31Keri Croft: Well, I feel like it started.
- 2:32Keri Croft: Are you looking at me?
- 2:33Keri Croft: Because I feel like it started with the city.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Well, we had like this.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it did.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: It did.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:36Keri Croft: I think it's good for you to, yeah.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: Because I yeah.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: So when I was 44, so it'll be 18 years ago in December.
- 2:44Keri Croft: I would have put you 46.
- 2:46Keri Croft: Get out of here.
- 2:47Keri Croft: You're kidding me.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: 62.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: Are you Yeah, I know.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: What the fuck?
- 2:53Keri Croft: What the fuck?
- 2:53Keri Croft: First of all, your skin.
- 2:55Keri Croft: Not to derail, but I just need to derail.
- 2:58Keri Croft: We need to grow flowers where they're.
- 3:00Keri Croft: What is your skin?
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: Is it genetics?
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: Uh no, not.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: I mean a tiny.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: My mom's 95, and I mean she looks 95.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: Let's just be honest.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: But wait, that's gonna be on don't say, well, she'll never hear that.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: I mean she doesn't.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: When you're 95, what's your mom's name?
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Norma.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Norma?
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Norma.
- 3:15Keri Croft: I don't give a shit at this point.
- 3:17Keri Croft: I know.
- 3:18Keri Croft: I don't even need to know Norma to know.
- 3:20Keri Croft: I mean that Norma's not gonna be.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Norma probably would give a shit if I'm being honest.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Norma will.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: Norma.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: But I use a last.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: Can I say this?
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: I use a lastin.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: I don't do like filler botoxy stuff.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: I have, but I think it makes me look weird.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: But I've had two necklifts.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'll just be honest.
- 3:37Keri Croft: Oh, I need to know about this because the necklift is like on my trajectory.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: I've had two.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: I had one at 51.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: And then I had one at 58.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Did you never have another one?
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: I friggin' love.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Oh my God.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: You woke up and you were like.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: And she did great with them.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, like you did really good.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: So you didn't do any of this other stuff.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: I haven't done anything.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: I haven't done anything.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: I did, I did two, because I had like a next shelf.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: I really did.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: I had like a like a turtly kind of a thing.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: And so I went.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: So the breast surgeon.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, I mean, okay, I'm just saying I'm not.
- 4:06Keri Croft: Well, wait, are are you like, why would you hold anything back?
- 4:08Keri Croft: I'm not.
- 4:09Keri Croft: I'm not.
- 4:09Keri Croft: Let's get it.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: So Tim Trees, shout out to Tim Trees at Caps.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: He did my reconstruction after my mastectomy when I was 44.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: And then I went back in after everything was done.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: And I was like, I I feel like I wanted, I wanted Kaibella.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Do you remember Kai Bella?
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: So I was like, I gotta have this.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: And he said, girl, it's really not gonna do much.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: But if you really want something, get this.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: It's um called a max facelift.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: And I literally, I mean, I know we don't know each other well yet, but this old track, I was like, I'll do it right.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: I yeah, I'll do it.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: And I really did.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: I called you and I was like, I'm gonna do this.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: And I wanted to do it like right then.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: And he was like, okay, hold on.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Uh, how about Tuesday?
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: This is like Thursday.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: I was like, yep, let's do it.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: So I was going to pick up a couch at Trove.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: I had our old pickup truck.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: I called my husband, and I'm like, hey, on uh Tuesday I'm having this necklift thing.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: And he was like, What?
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: I did that, and then I had another one like seven years later.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: I'll never do it.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: I don't need another one, but it I needed one again.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: But I don't like Botox and I don't like filler stuff.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: I played pickleball Monday with somebody who had lip filler and she uploaded those and she looked ridiculous.
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: And I wanted to pull her aside and say.
- 5:14Keri Croft: Well, now she's gonna know.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: I was just gonna think Oh my gosh.
- 5:18Keri Croft: Yes.
- 5:18Keri Croft: Whoever you were at pickleball, you look like shit.
- 5:21Keri Croft: Just so you know.
- 5:22Keri Croft: Maybe you're wondering.
- 5:23Keri Croft: You're very beautiful in real life.
- 5:27Keri Croft: Good thing nobody listens to the Carrie Crom show when you'd be fucked.
- 5:31Keri Croft: Um to be like, wait, why am I kicked out of pickleball?
- 5:33Keri Croft: It's my favorite thing too.
- 5:35Keri Croft: Nobody's gonna love a pickleball today.
- 5:36Keri Croft: Nobody's talking to me today.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, I mean, it was like okay, so oh, sorry.
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: So bad.
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: I'm so flustered now.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Okay, anyway, so um so this podcast talking about a long time.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: This podcast pickleball corn.
- 5:59Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 6:00Keri Croft: Wow, I am a pot right now.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: I'm feeling little monster.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: From me feeling like, look at me with my great skin to feeling hot and just wanted to call back in the back.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: Damn you and Carrie Croft.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: I gave you a compliment and opened you up, and then you say damn you, Carrie Croft.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Keep talking, Amy.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: This is fun.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Anyway, you look amazing.
- 6:19Keri Croft: I cannot believe you're 62, even though 62 is the new, like what, 45?
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: I hope so.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Your lips to God's ears.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: You look amazing.
- 6:26Keri Croft: So let's go back to how you started this amazing collective.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: So I get I'm I have a completely different career.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: I'm a health economist.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: That's what my work was in.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: And I worked for Abbott, I ran a global group, I adjunct faculty at OSU.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: Three kids felt like I was killing it.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: And then I got diagnosed with breast cancer at 44 and completely fell apart.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: Emotionally, physically, oh physically, I did fine.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: Physically, I did totally fine.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: I had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction, Timtrees.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Timtrees again.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: Um, and felt great.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Felt totally great physically, emotionally, completely fell apart.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: My surgeon was Larry Lilly, and I saw him for about a year, and then a year after I had the surgery and I was in for a follow-up, he he all of a sudden she walks in.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: And she, and I'm really sad at this point.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: I did not look good.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: I probably looked closer to 62 then than I do now.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: I was super duper sad.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: And she walks in and she's super duper cute, and she's got these little feet and these little clicky shoes, and and she clicks her way in the office, like clickety click, click, and she's like, hi, I'm Jody.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: And I'm Dr.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: Lily's physician assistant, and I'm gonna be doing your exam today.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: And I was like laying on the table watching her walk around the table, and I'm like, Oh, no, thank you.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: No, thank you.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: And she said, and she's doing the exam, she's like, You look great.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: How are you doing?
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: Whoop, how are you doing?
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: And I said, Well, uh, I'm not that great.
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: And she was like, Okay, well, do you want me to, you know, do you want Dr.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: Lily to follow up?
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, Yes.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: And then this is the part of the story that I always say, and then we fell in love.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: You wrote that.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: I did write that.
- 7:55SPEAKER_02: I did, I wrote we fell in love.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: I want you to see what I wrote.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: Because it really was.
- 8:01SPEAKER_02: I, yes, and so nobody, and I mean this, nobody saw me, understood me, um, cared about me.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: Gosh, this will make me get choked up as much as she did.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: And so we became friends, and um, for 15 years, we kind of dreamt about making a practice like this.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: I did not think I was gonna cry after I was like, Oh no, you cry.
- 8:20Keri Croft: I make everyone cry.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: I know, I feel like I'm going to do it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: I didn't think I was going to be able to do that.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: But I want to, I wanna, I wanna interject.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: I want to say, like, this is this is how we tell our story, and it is.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: This is, it's, it's, it's such a special story for us.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: But the other part that we don't talk about is when I walked in that room, I was afraid.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: Like I was just started in seeing breast cancer patients.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: So, like, I didn't know what I was doing.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: I was thrown in this room where nobody knew I was walking into this room and I wasn't the doctor.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: I wasn't, you know, I didn't feel like I had the experience.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: I didn't feel like, you know, did I deserve to be there?
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Was I gonna do a good job?
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: And so I feel like really deeper than you know, the story that we always tell is that we both met each other in a place of fear.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: And we both gave each other- You never said that.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: But I feel I we both gave each other um I was scared to death a safe space to feel it.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: A safe space to feel it.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: And then you gave me confidence by believing in the job I was doing for you, and I gave you confidence in you know, like what you were doing and in the space that you were you were working through.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: But there was something really powerful about that that wasn't by accident and and wasn't planned, and but was really special.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: So I feel like we don't really talk about that part right now.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: We've never talked about that.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: But that's that's I mean, I had no idea, right?
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I was so jealous is not the right word, but I I saw how much you loved what you were doing and how much you cared, and I was envious of that because I had lost that.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: I my grandma died when I was 11 um from breast cancer, uh, and she lived with us the last year, and that was my biggest fear.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: And my kids were kindergarten, sixth grade, and eighth grade.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: Fun story about so I have two girls and a boy in the middle.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: Fun fun story about the boy.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: I was worried that the kids that this was impacting the kids, and and you know, and one day as Nick's shoving a brownie in his mouth, he's like, Why do people keep bringing us brownies?
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: Like he was absolutely clueless.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, truly.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: Everybody loves a good casserole.
- 10:12Keri Croft: Something goes wrong.
- 10:13Keri Croft: You go to your doorstep, you're like, damn, casserole alley.
- 10:17Keri Croft: That's how we help each other.
- 10:18Keri Croft: Casserole I need.
- 10:20Keri Croft: And I always carbonate together, right?
- 10:22Keri Croft: Yes.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: And I would think I want to be bringing the casserole.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: I don't want to be there on the receiving end of the casserole.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: So I I couldn't find a therapist that understood.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: And I had really well-meaning therapists that just said the stupidest things to me.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh, and I don't even remember their name.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: So this is not a good idea.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: This is a whole other bird.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: Mass appealed.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm talking about her now, I lover.
- 10:47Keri Croft: We're not gonna dial it and we're gonna be canceled the minute I'll be leaving this whole website store on the outside waiting for like you've done fucked up.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: I mean, I really feel like I should shut up and I'm not getting it.
- 11:03Keri Croft: No, it's amazing.
- 11:04Keri Croft: You're right though, about the therapist.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: I just felt like it was.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: I had one, I always say this just because it's for shock value, but it's true.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: I had one that looked at me and said, and I'm sad and weepy.
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: I my uniform at that time was a pair of Uggs, a J.
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: Crew puffer coat, and a gap like sweater, and I just and cords, and I just wore it on repeat, and I looked so I was so sad.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: And um, she looked at me and she said, I I wish you could like, can you just like stop thinking about your breasts?
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: And if you do think about them, just know and picture them that they're in an incinerator at Riverside.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, Well, I can't stop thinking about that now.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: What?
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: I was horrified.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: I went to the car and rocked and sucked my thumb for about 10 minutes before I started driving away.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: So, um, anyway, so Jody was different.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: So we became friends and we started to dream about this.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: And we literally would like hold hands and pray over, like, please, Lord, this is what we're supposed to do.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, in the middle of La Chateau Lane.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: And then we would take everything as a sign.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: We'd show up with the same notebook and we'd be like, oh my gosh, it's a sign.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: Everything was a sign.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: And we literally would talk for an hour and a half about everything but what we wanted to do.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: And then the last few minutes we'd be like, oh my gosh, we need to figure out how we're gonna do this.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: So fast forward, I ended up retiring from Abbott and I went back to school to be a therapist.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: So this is also kind of a funny story.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: So I had a boss at Abbott that I loved.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: I'd been at Abbott forever, and I was in Chicago.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: I lived here, but I was going back and forth.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: And um, I went to Northwestern to uh another mass.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: So this will be a second master's.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: So I have um a master's in medical education, a PhD in health economics, but the master's in clinical counseling from Northwestern.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: So I didn't tell anybody but my boss and somebody from HR that I was basically working full-time and doing this program.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: And so at my retirement party at Abbott, they had they had like, so what are you what are you gonna do now?
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: And you're gonna golf and do this.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: And I was like, surprise, I'm gonna be a therapist psych.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: I'm graduating tomorrow from Northwestern.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: And everybody's like, What?
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: And so I did that, which was super fun.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: I was the second oldest.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Joan, this is a good one.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Joan.
- 13:10Keri Croft: You need to start teen some people.
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: I mean Joan, she was the oldest.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: She, Joan, Joan.
- 13:16Keri Croft: Um Joan, she's she's gonna be.
- 13:18Keri Croft: Joan, you are the one right now.
- 13:19Keri Croft: Yes, yes.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: You Joan, but she needs you, Joan.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: Joan, you gotta get away, get away from that sharp, severe bob you got going on because that wasn't doing you any favors.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: Oh no, here's the bigger.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: I'm just saying it.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: I Joan, you need to know.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: I would say this to your face if you were here.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, it was like But the Bob is like really in.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, but hers is called a cunty bob.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Do you hear me?
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: I do, but hers was like a mean, like was it like kind of like the dumb and dumber?
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: Like it was no, she had a she didn't have a bang, but it was like a severe.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: But like the bang severe, like the bob down here lower.
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 13:52Keri Croft: Well, Joan's gonna be a big thing.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Joan, I mean you're you're going really good there.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: And then you just crashed to burn it.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: So that's enough about me.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: So I become a therapist, I find enliven.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Brock.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: That's a good one.
- 14:04Keri Croft: She's like, okay.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: He is nervous, Brock, because his shot-outs aren't going well.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: No, yours is gonna stay good.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: And so I cold called the office and um, because I like the way the building looked, and I figured out the owner.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: What?
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: I'm so ballsy.
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: And I figured out the Oni from the website, and I went in and I acted like I'd use a bathroom so I could see the office, because every office has a vibe.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, vibe.
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: And um, and I interviewed, and I think he was sitting there like, wait, so you're 55 years old, you're a new therapist, you have this whole other career, and you want to work for me.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, Yeah, you got it.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: He was like, All right.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: And as he was leaving, he said, if you ever have a business, you've had all these things that you've done, if you've ever had a business idea, like I'm kind of into that stuff, just let me know.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: And I said, as a matter of fact, I have.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: So, and then I swear I'm gonna shut off because I feel like I'm talking so more.
- 14:55Keri Croft: Well, we have I I do have a question for you.
- 14:56Keri Croft: Okay, so last thing though, because this is kind of funny.
- 14:59Keri Croft: Well, that's that's coming, but not.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: She's got super tiny feet, her feet are half the size of mine.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: We decide, we try to get Jody and Brock to meet, and we set it all up, and we meet at Global Gallery in Clintonville for coffee, and we meet, and Brock is like, Yeah, I mean, you guys feel like we're like, we want to work with women, women, women that have had breast cancer, but other things, and it's since expanded, and we'll tell you more about that.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: And um, and he said, Yeah, I mean, let's just keep talking.
- 15:23SPEAKER_02: This feels like a good thing.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: And that was March 20th, 2020.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: What?
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: And we came out and the world shut down.
- 15:29Keri Croft: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:30Keri Croft: Amazing.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: And so a whole year went by until we ever even met again.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: But Jody was still in the hospital and I was scared to death of COVID.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: So we would meet and we'd roll down our windows because I didn't want to get near her because I knew she was full of COVID, even though she wasn't.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: And we would talk over the window.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: That was fine.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she was like, okay, nut job.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: You want me to stay on the passenger side and roll down my window, or can I stay on the driver's side?
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: And so we would talk over the so anyway.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: So then um, so that's how it started.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: That was, and we've had the practice going for about three years.
- 15:59Keri Croft: Draw so draw it in though.
- 16:00Keri Croft: So if someone's listening, they're still couch carry.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: Are you saying I'm way off on a tangent?
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: Because that hurt.
- 16:06Keri Croft: No, no, no.
- 16:07Keri Croft: I'm saying for your common listener, yeah, right now, they're probably like, oh, cool, this sounds all great.
- 16:13Keri Croft: Who's your ideal per?
- 16:14Keri Croft: Like, who would be walking through your doors?
- 16:16Keri Croft: What would they experience?
- 16:17Keri Croft: And like what's this is a great idea.
- 16:18Keri Croft: Yeah, go get right in.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: So what we really try to hit, there are there are gaps in care, right?
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: So there are gaps in care as far as mental health.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: There is gaps in care of time.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Like, we don't talk about time that that people get with providers.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Like it's just too short.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: We and as providers, we don't choose that.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: Like when we're in these different systems, we get 15 minutes to see a patient.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: And when you have 15 minutes to see a patient, you start finding yourself having the same conversation over and over again because there's no follow-up in between, right?
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: So it's like these are the things you need to do, and we'll see you back in six months or a year.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: And you come back and basically have that same conversation because there's been nothing, no resources for that person in between time to really help guide him to make those changes.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: So we wanted to create that the space where we could help through like those gaps, where we can say, what is your family physician recommending?
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: What is your GYN recommending?
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Where are you mental health-wise?
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Because as a medical provider, we can get you to a certain space, which is great.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: But if mental health isn't where it should be, then then how good are we?
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: And vice versa.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: So both of those go hand in hand, and it's really been like the medical side has gotten a lot of that attention, and the mental health kind of falls under that or behind that.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: And it's so valuable as a medical provider to have the information from the mental health provider.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's just as valuable to me and how to and how to help.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: So we wanted to provide that space.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Now, you know, we can like order labs medications, and but we want to work to like work in that space with their providers that they already have.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: So we're not taking the place of a family physician or a GYN, but but medicine is changing where that landscape is different.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: So if you talk about hormone replacement therapy, think of all the places you can get it.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: There's so many different ways of getting it.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: And so so it's uh it's trying to pull all those pieces together for someone.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: So when they do see their family physician, they feel like there's a good foundation there as far as what do I need to talk about and where am I with things?
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: Are there things that maybe haven't been ordered, not because it's been ignored, but because they just don't have time to do it?
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: So then we can come in and say, hey, have you had this test ordered?
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: You know, here's why we'd recommend it.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: And I can kind of fill in those gaps.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: So um basically it's women from or anyone who identifies as female.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: Um, it's at any age.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: Um I say any age, it's probably more like 20 and older.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: And then it's it's postpartum depression, it's um hormone imbalance, like you know, perimenopause, menopause.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: It's sometimes just having a place to say, hey, I've seen my GYN and my family physician, and these are things we're talking about, but I still am feeling this way.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: What are some, you know, what are some ideas you have?
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: And so sometimes it's just having a provider sit in front of you to give you time to process through where you are.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: And and it's been really amazing as far as like we didn't plan to um create this in a way that it builds community in the way that it actually has.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Um, you start to realize people just just want to have a community to feel like they can come into a space.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: We cared very much about not feeling like a doctor's office.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: No, we want you to feel like you're coming into a friend's apartment, your apartment.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Like we want this to feel as much as your space as it is ours.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: And so we worked really hard to create that of atmosphere.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: We want it to be accessible, so we accept insurance, which changes a business model.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: Insurance, accepting insurance isn't easy.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: Um, we do sacrifice a lot in doing that, but we really wanted to, you know, sometimes if you don't accept insurance, then it's hard for anyone to think that they can assess those um resources.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: And so I think people don't accept insurance and do a great job doing that.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: I don't think there's a right or wrong way to do that.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: But I do feel like for us in our niche was to say, hey, we accept insurance.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: And we wanted to make it a space where there is no wrong answer.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: There's you can be afraid.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: You can come and have a history of breast cancer and say, what about hormone replacement therapy?
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: And not feel guilty for asking about it, but be able to have a real conversation about it and feel comfortable asking any questions.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: Again, back to where, like how we kind of connected through like being afraid together and then providing a safe space for each other.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: That's what we wanted to provide.

- 21:35SPEAKER_02: And there's this thing called post-traumatic growth.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: We talk a lot about post-traumatic distress, but post-traumatic growth is finding a purpose for the thing that scared you the most and or or that was traumatic, however you define trauma.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: And that's really what we we both found a purpose for that.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: I I found a huge purpose for that.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: I I've never I've never worked harder, more hours for less money, frankly, because I left a a corporate.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Situation that you did too, right?
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: You know, it's you're working hard, like we're hawking it.
- 22:04SPEAKER_02: But I've never felt better about what I'm doing, more fulfilled, having more fun.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, we have fun.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: Like we genuinely have fun.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: We genuinely love each other.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: And we love Karen.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: And I we have a great group of therapists that are we're bringing them along.
- 22:19SPEAKER_02: Like, hey, come on, dream.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: You know, do you want to work with this population because you're a new mom and you, you know, you had struggles after pregnancy?
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: Please find those people.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: And a lot of people for me have a fear of recurrence or a lot of health anxiety, and they're not quite sure where to go with that.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: And they they feel a lot of shame that, you know, they finished their treatment, they rang the bell after chemo, their whole family is moved on.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Everyone, and I always do, you know, say that like you you're busy doing all the stuff of treatment, whatever the whatever the condition is.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: Whatever we have people with lots of different chronic illnesses and and post cancers and active cancers, and you're doing all the stuff, it stops, you stop, and then you're like, uh oh, I feel really anxious and I can't focus again, and I I I'm scared and I'm, you know, so tired and so wound up or whatever it is.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: Nobody tells you that.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: Nobody told me that.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: Nobody said when you heal from your surgery, when your reconstruction is complete, when you finish your tamoxifen, when you do all that, you're gonna feel like shit.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: And I wish somebody would have.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: I always say if we didn't have this going on, I would literally set up, you know, Lucy, the doctor is in outside of the James and the Spielman and the Bing and say, Hey, did you just get diagnosed and you're gonna go through all this stuff?
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: Let me normalize what's gonna happen to you later.
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: And sometimes that's all it is.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: It's just saying, and I'm obviously I'm super open about everything.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: Very there's nothing I won't.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: So when people say, Can I ask you something?
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: Absolutely, please ask me.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: And then I try to, you know, give my perspective because nobody gave me hope except Jody.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: I swear to god, nobody.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: And even the surgeon that she worked with, I felt ridiculous still feeling scared.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: And the oncologist, I I they were great.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: They were great, but I felt ridiculous that I didn't like I couldn't just get over that I had a good diagnosis and I was gonna be okay.
- 24:07Keri Croft: Well, I think here's the way I see it.
- 24:09Keri Croft: I think that like it's been a long time coming for these.
- 24:12Keri Croft: I don't can I call you supplemental or you're a layer of someone's health care because when the oncologist is laser focused, like they may not have the best bedside manner, they may not be focused on the you after you're treating.
- 24:26Keri Croft: They are so focused on getting you better, and that's where they should be focused.
- 24:30Keri Croft: And so you can't be great at all things.
- 24:33Keri Croft: And so it's surprising to me that it's taken us this long, you know, in the world to be like, oh, wait a minute, because doctors are just human beings, they're not, you know, the end all be all.
- 24:42Keri Croft: They all are doing their best at what they have and they're very good and deep at at their thing.
- 24:46Keri Croft: Right.
- 24:47Keri Croft: So to have you as this like foundation to be able to cover all these other bases, and then they can be really good at what they're doing, which is killing the tumor or getting it out of the bed.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: That's exactly how we look at it.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and we do.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Like, like we care very much that the pro I mean, we we're lucky here, we have great providers.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: I learned so much from my time with the with the breast surgeons and and the other APPs that I worked with, and um medical oncologists, like I have so much respect for that.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: And I recognize the time that don't have, and you're right, like when you're so focused on you know, I gotta save this life, I gotta save this life, you know, that's that that that takes time and energy.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: And then yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:25Keri Croft: Have you have do you feel like so I say that, but at the same time, I can also see a resistance from the medical world?
- 25:32Keri Croft: Because I've seen a resistance from the traditional OBGYN to for people who are doing like HRT.
- 25:37Keri Croft: Like it's kind of like the sandbox kind of thing.
- 25:39Keri Croft: It all comes down to like kids playing together.
- 25:41Keri Croft: Um, do you feel an apprehension or is there like a a groove that you've found like that you've gotten into with?
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: I think it's important to like like it's nice that we're coming into this with a reputation, right?
- 25:52Keri Croft: So so a lot of the people that we're Jody's reputation is stellar.
- 25:56Keri Croft: Thank God, because if you take the average of the two of you, no, she better be a triple A bronze.
- 26:03Keri Croft: It's it's a breaking down the meaning.
- 26:05Keri Croft: We're wearing the party down in some riff rap, like dragging down the means.
- 26:11Keri Croft: I mean, this one.
- 26:13Keri Croft: You guys are a strong B minus together.
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: Thank God.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: I'm just drag- it's so easy to drag it down.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: It's not even that hard.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: We need that.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: Not even that hard.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: Listen, gentlemen C not showing off, not falling behind.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: That's what we're doing here.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: That's what we're doing.
- 26:30SPEAKER_02: No, I'm getting it.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: No, but I mean, if you think I mean a good reputation is just caring and it's like going the extra mile and it's paying attention like to data, you know, like it's not just like like jumping on a bandwagon to say, hey, this is great, like it's gonna solve all these problems.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: It's you know, so that's a repute, you know, like that's what that is.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: And so I think if you're going into it that way, then I think you do get have the respect from other providing, you know, other providers.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: Now, uh, there are probably times at first when someone says they see us, there, you know, there's probably all those other visions going through, like, what really is this?
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: And and I think that's the other reason why accepting insurance was really important for us.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Because it gives us some validity and that space too.
- 27:06Keri Croft: I was thinking the same thing when you said that.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 27:09Keri Croft: Because we want you to think because I mean, in the defense of these OBGYNs and the traditional medical space, there's a lot of, I mean, it's trendy right now.
- 27:19Keri Croft: Like menopause, perimenopause is trendy.
- 27:21Keri Croft: It's hot.
- 27:22Keri Croft: Which is great because I'd rather have that for us than like shame and not talking.
- 27:28Keri Croft: That being said, that attracts probably a lot of people who maybe shouldn't or don't have people's best interests.
- 27:35Keri Croft: So I think by you guys, first of all, taking insurance, why wouldn't you?
- 27:38Keri Croft: Right.
- 27:39Keri Croft: Right.
- 27:39Keri Croft: And why wouldn't your your purpose and intent be to make it accessible for that woman who needs it as opposed to not?
- 27:46Keri Croft: And so I think you just taking that extra step and doing that says a lot.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: And it and we had the opportunity to do it, right?
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: So if I was on my own and trying to to still provide the same kind of care, I couldn't accept insurance on my own, make any money at it at all.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: You know, so there is that kind of fine line too, is as females, I don't think it's fair to be judged for trying to make money in what you do, right?
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: But yet you still want to have, you know, validity in what you're doing as far as like we do accept it.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: You know, so there is it is kind of, I mean, we have you know, I respect that we have our own little niche, we're able to do it, and we're thankful that we can.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, we are but there are you know, not everybody can, and I get that too.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:25Keri Croft: Let me ask a question, because you did write about this about being judged for making money.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:29Keri Croft: So let's give it away from this for a minute and into that broader conversation.
- 28:34Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 28:34Keri Croft: Because I I might have this community now called Build that I launched in June, and it's just been so great.
- 28:40Keri Croft: Same labor of love, passion project.
- 28:42Keri Croft: It's been in my head for like two years, yeah, or if not longer.
- 28:45Keri Croft: And so now finally having this group of women that are having conversations and you know, whatever.
- 28:49Keri Croft: The thing that just got brought up was around how much you charge, being nervous to charge, oh, but it only takes me this much time.
- 28:55Keri Croft: So we've had this whole conversation.
- 28:57Keri Croft: So, what are your thoughts around that?
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: Like, I see it like like in like especially in the hormone space, you know, like it there's something so special about women lifting up lifting up women, you know, like there, like there's a special energy about that.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: And breast cancer is such a great example of that.
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: It's a it's a palpable energy that you get from that.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: And it's disappointing when um there's judgment, whether it's I mean, you can take it back to if you stay home with your kids or work with your, you know, like there's there's so many little spaces of those of that judgment.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: And and you find it in this space too.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: And so it is hard to kind of like how do you stay genuine in the care that you're trying to provide and not be judged for how do you make money in it?
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: You know, how do you and and why are we not celebrated for finding a business model where you can do both?
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: Like, why is it that you have to kind of second guess yourself and some of those decisions when I don't think everybody does second guess themselves, you know, not to make it a a a woman man, you know.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: But but at the same time, we're judged a little differently as business women to be successful or to make hard decisions or to make the decisions that make money, then all of a sudden, you know, there's something about that that you're judged for.
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: So it is kind of an interesting, it's it's been interesting kind of learning the business side of things.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: We this is new for us, and and and we just kind of dig in, you know, try to try to learn as we go.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: And so it's been interesting.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: I'm probably more of an observer, like kind of taking in all the information, looking at how other people are doing it.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: And Amy's our yes person that, you know, it's in front of her, yes, we're doing it.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: And it takes both of us.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: Remember the necklip story?
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it takes both of us.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: Like it, like I would still be, I always say I'd still be in the basement working out how many ways this wasn't gonna work.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: And a spreadsheet.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Like, yes, like and and I'm not spreadsheet, but I'm more of how are other gonna how the how are other people gonna judge what I'm doing?
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: Clearly, and and I have more anatomy.
- 30:36Keri Croft: Yeah, so that probably goes deep, yeah, like way beyond business for you.
- 30:39Keri Croft: Yes, yeah.
- 30:40Keri Croft: Because I'm saying charge, honey.
- 30:41Keri Croft: Yeah, like and this is my the conversations I've been having is like, wait, why are why are we not charging?
- 30:47Keri Croft: Right.
- 30:48Keri Croft: The way you position yourself is everything.
- 30:50Keri Croft: So whether it's you walking into a room at a dinner party, yeah, the way you position yourself in a business meeting, that's everything.
- 30:56Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 30:57Keri Croft: And so why would I position myself as less than and say, oh, I'm only gonna charge you$300 because it's like, hell no.
- 31:03Keri Croft: Right.
- 31:04Keri Croft: I'm gonna charge this because this is what I'm worth, and then be willing to walk away.
- 31:08Keri Croft: Right.
- 31:08Keri Croft: Because Ann, when you get older, when you get more season, when you get the business under your belt and you sell it and you realize what do we do right?
- 31:14Keri Croft: What do we do wrong?
- 31:15Keri Croft: The one thing I would tell any entrepreneur before starting anything today is pick your ideal.
- 31:21Keri Croft: Like, who do you want to work with and understand that like they need you as much as you need them.
- 31:26Keri Croft: Don't go out into the world like, oh, I want everyone to love me.
- 31:29Keri Croft: And just be very discerning around your ideal client.
- 31:32Keri Croft: Serve that person over and over again and charge for it because you are gonna find yourself in you're just gonna back yourself into a business where you don't even like half the people.
- 31:42Keri Croft: But but it's but it's you don't think that way when you start.
- 31:45Keri Croft: I mean, when we first started, I I mean, oh my gosh, going back to you know, the first days of SOS, oh man.
- 31:51Keri Croft: I mean, the path you can only imagine me 12 years ago, 13 years ago, just the energy, the but like the the need and the desire for everyone to love it.
- 32:00Keri Croft: You know, it's exhausting.
- 32:01Keri Croft: It's dangerous.
- 32:01Keri Croft: It's exhausting.
- 32:02Keri Croft: It's dangerous.
- 32:03Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 32:03Keri Croft: Now we were very successful.
- 32:04Keri Croft: Right.
- 32:04Keri Croft: It worked very well.
- 32:05Keri Croft: Um and there are some great things about it.
- 32:07Keri Croft: And now that I look at that and I analyze it, the way that I do it today with build, I would rather 20 women who align on on every, you know, you have to align 110%, but like for the most part, and and have this beautiful sort of mosaic.
- 32:22Keri Croft: I'd rather 20 of those.
- 32:24Keri Croft: That is than 2,000 of like, what the fuck is even happening?
- 32:29Keri Croft: Because I can give more and and be in my zone and really help, you know.
- 32:33Keri Croft: But I think that's also like when you turn it around to say, how am I really adding value to those people?
- 32:37Keri Croft: Like, not what are you giving me?
- 32:39Keri Croft: Right, right.
- 32:39Keri Croft: You know, like because that doesn't, that's a very diluted, that doesn't last.
- 32:43Keri Croft: Like, what what can you give me?
- 32:44Keri Croft: Like it's like, what can I really do to differentiate or to add value to each one of those women's lives?
- 32:48Keri Croft: And it's it's different for every woman.
- 32:50Keri Croft: Right, right, right.
- 32:51Keri Croft: So charge, honey.
- 32:53Keri Croft: Charge.
- 32:54Keri Croft: And if you have a problem, charge and call me.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 32:58Keri Croft: Because after I get done with you, you're gonna be like, okay, I'm gonna charge.
- 33:02Keri Croft: We're charging.
- 33:03Keri Croft: We're charging.
- 33:04Keri Croft: The shit ain't you the shit you're doing, ain't easy.
- 33:06Keri Croft: You need to charge.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: Well, and and just I mean, Jodi went back, she has a a degree from University of Michigan then on sexual health and wellness.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: And you know, she's this we both continue to invest in ourselves to invest in this.
- 33:22SPEAKER_02: We found that women either after, you know, a surgical menopause or just a natural menopause, you know, the the whole the the sexual health and wellness piece is uh nobody ever asked me, hey, how how's sex for you after breast cancer or tamoxifen blocking your estrogen for six years?
- 33:42SPEAKER_02: Does it hurt?
- 33:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it feels like shards of glass.
- 33:44SPEAKER_02: It feels like a nail, you know, a board being planed is how that feels.
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: Again, I'm kind of forgetting.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: I'm like oh my god.
- 33:51Keri Croft: That's what women know.
- 33:52Keri Croft: Women need to hear that.
- 33:53Keri Croft: I mean, it's very hard to talk about.
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: Absolutely adore and love and have been with my husband forever.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: He's wonderful.
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: He was so wonderful during the whole process and kind and supportive and didn't care that I didn't have breast and all of that.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: So how lucky am I?
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: But I'm gonna butt come in, Dave.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: There's a big butt.
- 34:11SPEAKER_02: Sorry, Dave.
- 34:11SPEAKER_02: Listen, Dave, wait, ready.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: The hammer, the hammer is gonna come down.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: We can put this to you in the hot tub anytime, Dave.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: You never want to go okay, Dave.
- 34:22SPEAKER_02: But um, it hurt.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, and as some nobody, it was never talked about as there's these alternatives.
- 34:29SPEAKER_02: I had estrogen and progesterone positive, vitriple positive breast cancer.
- 34:34SPEAKER_02: So I couldn't take a systemic hormone replacement.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: I couldn't, and Jody would ask about that stuff, you know, and and I didn't feel uncomfortable talking about it.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: And I really feel comfortable talking about it now because I talk about it all the time.
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: You know, I always say it when I was in graduate school for this, there was a marriage and family tract and a sexual health and wellness track.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: And I thought, I said, I'm never gonna talk about sex.
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: And I did the the marriage and family.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: I talk about sex all day, every day.
- 35:01SPEAKER_02: Like someone needs to.
- 35:03SPEAKER_02: I, you know, when people come to me and say, you know, can I can I tell you I I just it hurts and I don't feel like doing it anymore.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: I'm like, me too, girl, me too.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: And there's something to do for that.
- 35:14Keri Croft: Are there support groups for men who whose what I I just had this thought.
- 35:18Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 35:19Keri Croft: Okay, because men don't talk.
- 35:20Keri Croft: Y'all are a bunch of like But women don't either.
- 35:23Keri Croft: Well, you know what I mean?
- 35:24Keri Croft: Like it's different.
- 35:24Keri Croft: Okay, well, if you give them the space, they will do.
- 35:29Keri Croft: But even if you like tee them up with like Bud Light and Like they're like, bruh, yeah.
- 35:35Keri Croft: And so, okay, I'm generalizing, but like I know there's something.
- 35:39Keri Croft: You know what?
- 35:39SPEAKER_02: I just got off the hot seat with that little ending of the.
- 35:42Keri Croft: Listen, I'll go all day, I'll die on the hill with the man's.
- 35:45Keri Croft: Okay.
- 35:46Keri Croft: I know there's some of you out there that are like, you know, getting deep talks with your bro.
- 35:50Keri Croft: Are there a support?
- 35:51Keri Croft: There should be a support group for men who have wives going through this because they're like we talk about their satire.
- 35:59Keri Croft: They're satire on TikTok and they're hilarious.
- 36:02Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 36:03Keri Croft: But like, should we like help y'all?
- 36:05Keri Croft: Because we we you we know you're going through it.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: We were at like a it was like a fair, it was like a health fair or something.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: You know how you do everything you can to get your name out.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, we we we we've done it all.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: And so you can slutten it out on the ass.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: So we were we were doing that and we were shocked at how many men came by and got our pamphlets because they were like, okay, our wives need this appropriate.
- 36:26SPEAKER_01: My husband will save it.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: He's like, yeah.
- 36:28Keri Croft: He'll be like, yeah, my God.
- 36:29Keri Croft: So the other day, I'm not shitting you.
- 36:31Keri Croft: So and this is the way that men, he's like, So are you like still going through that menopause?
- 36:36Keri Croft: That's their menopause.
- 36:37Keri Croft: Am I going through menopause?
- 36:39Keri Croft: But then the other day I had like the hot flat.
- 36:42Keri Croft: I have never had something like this before.
- 36:43Keri Croft: It was like, I think it was like a combination of low blood sugar and oh that's a bad one.
- 36:48Keri Croft: What does that happen?
- 36:49Keri Croft: Heck yeah.
- 36:50Keri Croft: I don't know what was going on with low blood sugar.
- 36:52Keri Croft: All of a sudden, I had when I say pellets of sweat, and so God love him.
- 36:56Keri Croft: He went in the freezer, he has this huge thing for his knee.
- 36:59Keri Croft: It's like this big ice thing.
- 37:01Keri Croft: He comes over and just like throws the whole thing on my back like a cape.
- 37:04Keri Croft: And I was like, Jesus, that feels good.
- 37:07unknown: Thank you.
- 37:08Keri Croft: But like he'll just ask, he's random.
- 37:10Keri Croft: But I mean, the men probably need a little, like, you know, like an AA, but for men, like you can get into a room, be like, Oh, my name is Dave.
- 37:17Keri Croft: And like it really hurts.
- 37:19Keri Croft: He doesn't want to have sex anymore.
- 37:20Keri Croft: And darling hurts.
- 37:22Keri Croft: I need help, guys.
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: See, Dave, I'm telling you, and my kids are gonna probably hear this.
- 37:26Keri Croft: Kids are like, probably used to this.
- 37:29Keri Croft: They're desensitized.
- 37:31SPEAKER_02: I mean, um, so fun, not fun.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: Interesting stat that we use all the time.
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: But recently, in the last two years, a study came out that um when men are diagnosed with prostate or testicular cancer or anything that's gonna impact them and their sexual health, 86% of the times in the very first session that is mentioned.
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: Like, here's your treatment options, but this is how it's gonna impact single digit for women 86 versus six.
- 37:57SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: Nobody, you know, so we talk about that.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: And I do know some, I more people are talking about it for sure.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: So this is not, and I want to just second what Jody said, not to dig myself out of clearly a hole that I'm in right now, but um, but I had amazing doctors.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: I mean that.
- 38:15SPEAKER_02: And Jodi was an extension of a very, very, very good team.
- 38:20SPEAKER_02: She just met me.
- 38:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, clearly, I'm still here sitting here talking about it, but clearly there was something that was missing.
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: And again, it was more of a time thing, I think, for them than anything because I came in technically, medically, as a chip shot, and I became a really complicated dog leg left, and nobody knew quite what to do with me.
- 38:40SPEAKER_02: Little golf, shout out to golf.
- 38:41SPEAKER_02: I'm a golfer, shout out to that.
- 38:43Keri Croft: Now she's shouting out to everyone.
- 38:45Keri Croft: I know, like she's overdoing the to every human.
- 38:48Keri Croft: Now she's shout out to golf.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: She's hoping that may or may not go on.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: Tennis to Gerald, my golf partner.
- 38:56Keri Croft: I may not want shout out to the person in high school, maybe that they're watching.
- 39:00SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Mr.
- 39:01SPEAKER_01: Allhouse, RAP, RAP, Mr.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: Haldhouse.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: Male person.
- 39:06SPEAKER_01: There's probably a lot of people in your life that could give you a shout out.
- 39:08Keri Croft: In all seriousness, if someone watches this and doesn't, they're not intrigued to come see the two of you.
- 39:13Keri Croft: I don't know what you're I mean, this is like the best advertising ever for the two of you.
- 39:18Keri Croft: Because you're you're real and you can tell your intention, your your intentions are pure.
- 39:23Keri Croft: And I feel like you're gonna be you're really good at what you do, and so you're gonna help a lot of people.
- 39:27Keri Croft: Oh that is so nice.
- 39:29Keri Croft: Yeah, and just a little comic relief too.
- 39:32Keri Croft: Yeah, we it's important, right?
- 39:33SPEAKER_02: That's that's well, there's a thing in therapy called dosing, and it's I don't sit down with somebody and are like, tell me all the terrible things that happened, how terrible scared you are, and we talk for you know an hour about all that.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: We we dose it, right?
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: We get in, we pull back, take a breath, go back in.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: It it just works better, yeah.
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: You know, than just having it be so heavy the whole thing.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: I I'll tell you, I can't personally, I couldn't stand that in therapy.
- 39:59SPEAKER_02: Just feeling like it was like dun, and you go in and it's just this like really shout out to singing.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: Um I'm like, what else are we doing here?
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: This is great.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: I'm just gonna Okay, listen.
- 40:14SPEAKER_02: Wrap it up, Pete.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: Wrap it up.
- 40:16Keri Croft: Any last words on vibe and why someone should come see you?
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: Take it away.
- 40:21SPEAKER_02: Oh boy, you go because we're uh we're waiting for you.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: We really are.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: And we are opening a second location in Powell.
- 40:30SPEAKER_02: And and again, it's super intentional, right?
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: Everything about it is with you in mind.
- 40:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we want to start groups there and have that kind of a of an offering.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: The other thing we do is just, I mean, provide education, right?
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: So there's girls' night out, or there's different groups that like come to us and say, I had someone who's like, I'm gonna do my birthday and and have my friends over and and talk about sex or talk about you know, we'll create what what is it that you're gonna talk about?
- 40:56Keri Croft: So that means you're coming October 1st then.
- 40:58Keri Croft: We absolutely I mean I can't even wait.
- 41:00Keri Croft: Can we?
- 41:01Keri Croft: I don't want you saying this, and then all of a sudden you're like, oh, I have a no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 41:05Keri Croft: No.
- 41:06Keri Croft: IRL October 1st.
- 41:07Keri Croft: You guys need to be there.
- 41:08Keri Croft: We'll be there.
- 41:09Keri Croft: And I mean, so what a pool of like high, like it's like your demo.
- 41:13Keri Croft: So it's yes, please.
- 41:16Keri Croft: I love it.
- 41:16Keri Croft: Well, thank you, ladies, so much.
- 41:17Keri Croft: You've been an absolute delight.
- 41:19Keri Croft: Thank you.
- 41:21Keri Croft: So fun.
- 41:21Keri Croft: It was really cool.
- 41:23SPEAKER_02: I feel super cool just when I walk in the world.
- 41:25Keri Croft: Well, you are super cool.
- 41:26Keri Croft: I mean, I'm you are a lot of things, and cool is one of them.
- 41:29Keri Croft: Thank you.
- 41:29Keri Croft: That is shout out to being cool.
- 41:30SPEAKER_02: Shout out to being cool.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: And on that note, everybody, stay cool.
- 41:35Keri Croft: On that note, if you're still out there to follow on your girl, follow me on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, or wherever you get your podcast.
- 41:40Keri Croft: And until next time, go check out Vibe.
- 41:42Keri Croft: Come to the IRL on October 1st and keep moving, baby.
