- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to the Armchair GM Sports Network.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Welcome into another edition of the Ohl and sixty podcast
- 1:03Speaker 2: with Colin Ward.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'm Reice Domani.
- 1:05Speaker 2: We've got BC behind the clouds running the show technically,
- 1:09Speaker 2: and it's an underwhelming Round Number two is in the books.
- 1:16Speaker 2: It was not what I expected, and not what Colin expected,
- 1:21Speaker 2: and not what BC expected, and not what a lot
- 1:26Speaker 2: of people expected.
- 1:30Speaker 3: That was the least.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Competitive second round I have, at least I can remember.
- 1:36Speaker 2: And that's not a knock at anyone like That's not
- 1:39Speaker 2: to say they weren't close games, but five games is
- 1:44Speaker 2: the longest series in Round two. Yeah, that that kind
- 1:48Speaker 2: of came out of left field. That was, okay, did
- 1:53Speaker 2: not expect that when wardy.
- 1:54Speaker 4: No, No, that was that was something that I mean,
- 1:56Speaker 4: especially with FLYNT going I AM against No. One sound
- 2:01Speaker 4: and round one and then laying a goose egg against
- 2:05Speaker 4: windsor getting sweat four straight. I mean, I didn't expect that,
- 2:08Speaker 4: to be honest, when they were down three to zero
- 2:10Speaker 4: and I watched that game four great having John Paul
- 2:13Speaker 4: Morosi on the call by that was pretty cool in Flint. Yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 4: he's doing great work with the US Hockey there and
- 2:19Speaker 4: whatever he does in the state of Michigan. He's done
- 2:21Speaker 4: a great job in hockey with the USA program and
- 2:24Speaker 4: now with the Ohl two in the States. But I
- 2:27Speaker 4: thought that we were gonna have like the reverse sweep
- 2:29Speaker 4: situations when it was three to zero, because how good
- 2:31Speaker 4: Flint kind of looked at times in that first period
- 2:34Speaker 4: in the elimination game against Windsor. I thought they looked
- 2:36Speaker 4: really good and then obviously not enough. But I thought, well,
- 2:40Speaker 4: we might get some reverse sweeps here. Obviously not Sue
- 2:43Speaker 4: over Kitchener. Kitchener's gonna out coach to Saint Marie any
- 2:46Speaker 4: day of the week. Any day it ends with why
- 2:48Speaker 4: Kitchener's gonna out coach Sue. I don't know why I
- 2:51Speaker 4: picked picked Sue, so Josh Brown our town. I apologize.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I know, Bannon, I've been hearing it from Josh Brown
- 3:00Speaker 4: about my pick class round, but I apologize. But uh,
- 3:04Speaker 4: I was dumb on me. But you know the coaching
- 3:07Speaker 4: thing was gonna happen Sue.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I've got a few thoughts on Sue and
- 3:11Speaker 2: why they lost the way they did that was not
- 3:14Speaker 2: good whatsoever?
- 3:16Speaker 4: Then, I mean Ottawa like they got out classed, like
- 3:21Speaker 4: to be fair, to be fair.
- 3:22Speaker 2: First period of game three, we texted back and forth
- 3:25Speaker 2: to each other like, wow, this one might be quick.
- 3:28Speaker 2: We didn't expand then they came back and won that game.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But the way game three started, we're like, okay, well,
- 3:33Speaker 2: Parry's going up three nothing.
- 3:34Speaker 4: And then game four, how close were they to overtime?
- 3:37Speaker 4: I literally fu away an empty net. Spencer bows on
- 3:39Speaker 4: the back door. I don't know that Nathan McKinnon did.
- 3:42Speaker 4: And that might have been worse than Nathan McKinnon because
- 3:44Speaker 4: he literally shout it out the far side. Yeah, I'm
- 3:47Speaker 4: thinking man herrabics so far out of position to where
- 3:51Speaker 4: if that even hits him, he has no chance. On
- 3:54Speaker 4: top of the park, the angle's going right in the net.
- 3:57Speaker 4: I don't know how he missed the net on that.
- 3:58Speaker 4: And obviously it's easy for me to say I probably
- 4:00Speaker 4: would have whiffed on the shot at tenth and fell
- 4:02Speaker 4: right on my face and all six thousand fans there
- 4:04Speaker 4: would have laughed at me. But I just think that
- 4:08Speaker 4: it's it was very I you're very close, Like if
- 4:13Speaker 4: you're a Ottawa you're thinking, well, the way end that game,
- 4:15Speaker 4: Barry takes a couple of penalties late we're talking about
- 4:19Speaker 4: a game six back in Ottawa easily if a couple,
- 4:22Speaker 4: if it's a game of inches, So maybe Ottawa was
- 4:24Speaker 4: a little closer North Bay. North Bay never really got
- 4:27Speaker 4: a jump. I don't know if it's the Bulldogs playing
- 4:29Speaker 4: good or if it's And the Bulldogs did look better
- 4:32Speaker 4: in that round than they did in round one, which
- 4:34Speaker 4: is a good thing for Branford, but I think the
- 4:36Speaker 4: North Bay I thought with them, I didn't I didn't
- 4:39Speaker 4: see the adjustments. Game one, they got locked and then
- 4:44Speaker 4: each game got a little better. We talked about it
- 4:46Speaker 4: after Game Tweries said they had to make the change
- 4:48Speaker 4: to MacIver. Mackiver was great, not that Listen wasn't, but
- 4:51Speaker 4: mckiv was great in the series. And to be honest,
- 4:55Speaker 4: North Bay, you look at their playoff run. You have
- 4:57Speaker 4: to have a lot of luck to be good. But
- 5:00Speaker 4: I just think that when you look at the when
- 5:03Speaker 4: you look at the luck they got, right, macaivre takes
- 5:05Speaker 4: a dumb penalty in overtime against Peterborough. You could kind
- 5:09Speaker 4: of see that coming in a way what they got
- 5:11Speaker 4: in the second round. But crazy, crazy second round. I
- 5:14Speaker 4: don't know, like like you say, I don't remember a
- 5:17Speaker 4: time where it was like that, Like, like I said,
- 5:19Speaker 4: I was getting ready for the twenty nineteen Reverse Weeks
- 5:21Speaker 4: or twenty eighteen No nineteen Reverse sweeteen. Yep, I was
- 5:25Speaker 4: waiting for the reverse suites. Yeah, in the series, I
- 5:28Speaker 4: was just waiting for something to happen. I was still
- 5:29Speaker 4: excited about it. And yeah, just a dud.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Well we'll get to everything a little bit
- 5:35Speaker 2: in a little bit more detail as the as the
- 5:37Speaker 2: show rolls on in segment number two. But we've got
- 5:41Speaker 2: we've got some headlines to get to from this, from
- 5:45Speaker 2: this last round, and that's outside of the postseason for
- 5:49Speaker 2: the most part, or for all part, I should say, so,
- 5:53Speaker 2: of course we're gonna run through those headlines. It includes
- 5:56Speaker 2: the goaltender of the Year was crowned, the coach of
- 5:59Speaker 2: the Year was crowned, Rookie of the Year was crowned.
- 6:02Speaker 2: You know, we're gonna get into the players selected for
- 6:05Speaker 2: the U eight teams. Ausha has got a new assistant coach.
- 6:08Speaker 2: We'll get to that NHL Central Scouting release the final
- 6:12Speaker 2: rankings and uh and we'll touch on that as well
- 6:15Speaker 2: before we do get to round number two, and and
- 6:18Speaker 2: the teams that were eliminated and off to ken kon
- 6:20Speaker 2: to uh to join the round one.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Losers.
- 6:25Speaker 2: That sounds really bad losers, but I mean they lost,
- 6:28Speaker 2: so there's no better way to put it. Colin Ward's
- 6:31Speaker 2: already got the bucket hat on, he's got the mug going.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I love it, love it. And then of course we
- 6:37Speaker 2: look ahead to the conference finals, which the press conferences
- 6:42Speaker 2: were held for the Branford Bulldogs and Barry Colts on Monday,
- 6:46Speaker 2: so Colin word will sort of recap everything and by
- 6:50Speaker 2: the time you are listening to this, you can watch
- 6:52Speaker 2: those press conferences on the arm Chair GM Sports Networks
- 6:56Speaker 2: YouTube page, which which if you're watching us on that.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Thank you and I'm sorry for looking really bad.
- 7:02Speaker 4: My playoff beard's getting along getting long.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Man, I had to shave. I couldn't keep going so long. Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 2: like I could not survive as a player. Like my beard,
- 7:13Speaker 2: the way it grows, like some dudes said I looked
- 7:16Speaker 2: amish when I was in school because it keeps growing down.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I hope I don't get suspended.
- 7:21Speaker 2: It like grows down my neck and it just it
- 7:23Speaker 2: looks bad and it's itchy and like, yeah, the hockey
- 7:27Speaker 2: helmet strap rubs on it.
- 7:28Speaker 3: It's it's not good.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I was telling Liza, I want to get the
- 7:33Speaker 4: gesture men and touch it up because the patches on
- 7:36Speaker 4: this you got coming through. No, No, I want to
- 7:39Speaker 4: get like the like. I want to accelerate it, so
- 7:42Speaker 4: yours a little stronger. Oh, I got you beard beard oil.
- 7:46Speaker 4: I guess like beard accelerator. Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah, my luck is.
- 7:50Speaker 4: My luck is I'll go on Amazon and buy one
- 7:52Speaker 4: and it'll turn it like pink and purple or something crazy,
- 7:55Speaker 4: look like a peacock. But uh, that's my lock. That'd
- 8:00Speaker 4: be unbelievable. Shot up to the arena and I got like.
- 8:04Speaker 2: By like Captain Terry's beard grower or something, I don't know,
- 8:08Speaker 2: something like that. Shout out to two and a half men.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Starting with the headlines, this isn't new. The n are
- 8:15Speaker 2: Ice Dogs and general manager Frank Evla have mutually agreed
- 8:20Speaker 2: to part ways, effective immediately, so the searches on for
- 8:24Speaker 2: a new UH general manager in Saint Catharine's. The news
- 8:29Speaker 2: comes following Evela's desire to pursue other professional opportunities. Both
- 8:35Speaker 2: both parties agreed that stepping away was the best course
- 8:37Speaker 2: of action. Again, if you're watching this on YouTube, you
- 8:40Speaker 2: can you can see the full statement. If you want
- 8:42Speaker 2: to read the very brief article on the Ice Dog's website,
- 8:46Speaker 2: you can go and do that as well. Transition has
- 8:49Speaker 2: been made with the full awareness of the Ontario Hockey League,
- 8:52Speaker 2: which I'm not surprised with that kind of the way
- 8:57Speaker 2: things were handled last off season. So the search is
- 9:01Speaker 2: on for a new general manager. Excuse me, yeah, Colin,
- 9:10Speaker 2: we're down the same road as we were a year ago.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I ready, yeah, go ahead.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I'm a little speechless because I'm out of things to
- 9:21Speaker 2: say about this whole kerfuffle and bleep show that's at
- 9:26Speaker 2: the Meridian Center, So go ahead, calling.
- 9:29Speaker 4: All right, Ice Dogs fans, you ready, it's us Teres
- 9:33Speaker 4: myself BC in the clouds. We're with you right now.
- 9:37Speaker 4: It's that time of the year again. It's that time
- 9:40Speaker 4: of the year again. Get your popcorn ready? Yeah, I Brandon,
- 9:44Speaker 4: I hope you clean that up. By the way, I
- 9:46Speaker 4: hope you got that cleaned up last week or last episode.
- 9:48Speaker 4: I hope you got that cleaned up with the popcorn. Incredible, incredible, Yeah,
- 9:54Speaker 4: that was unbelievable talent. But I are we surprised every year.
- 9:59Speaker 4: It's a new thing. Every year. It's a new thing.
- 10:01Speaker 4: It's nice that the league signed off on it. It's
- 10:03Speaker 4: nice that London signed off on it as well. I
- 10:07Speaker 4: can't believe it. No pun intended, but stop making trades
- 10:11Speaker 4: with London and I'll stop making the jokes. But I
- 10:14Speaker 4: I can't believe it. I honestly, I can believe it.
- 10:18Speaker 4: But every time, you know what they are. The Niagara
- 10:22Speaker 4: Ice Dogs are like in the office when you see
- 10:24Speaker 4: that gift where they have the zero days without crap,
- 10:29Speaker 4: that's the Ice Dog, zero days without failure. We got
- 10:33Speaker 4: back to zero. Like we all know who the future
- 10:36Speaker 4: GM is gonna be. We all know who it's gonna be.
- 10:39Speaker 4: It's the first name starts with an E. I think
- 10:43Speaker 4: it's crazy. I honestly, I think it's absolutely crazy. I
- 10:47Speaker 4: don't think Evola's moves and all of his moves he
- 10:49Speaker 4: made were great moves this last season. But when you
- 10:52Speaker 4: see a move like this, it's hey, we see who's
- 10:55Speaker 4: around the organization throughout this season. Yeah, I can't see
- 11:00Speaker 4: this move coming in the capacity of the who the
- 11:05Speaker 4: future is. The rumors about the scouting staff, like if
- 11:09Speaker 4: oh my, if that's true too, if that's true too?
- 11:11Speaker 4: About the emails man like that, like put them in
- 11:17Speaker 4: a game in Cornwall. Like, at least Brampton, like everyone
- 11:20Speaker 4: picks on Brampton, at least Brampton has no crap in
- 11:23Speaker 4: the front office. Like I cannot believe. I cannot believe.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Every single season, every single season. And this is the
- 11:32Speaker 4: pattern how it goes. This is the pattern, how the
- 11:34Speaker 4: crap goes. Ready, one, we're gonna fire your GM. We're
- 11:38Speaker 4: gonna fire a coach. Obviously, if anyone thinks Bart is
- 11:40Speaker 4: gonna be around, like, come.
- 11:41Speaker 2: On, he got hired from and again, from our understanding,
- 11:45Speaker 2: it was a one year deal for Chris Bart, so
- 11:47Speaker 2: he has to sign a new contract with the Ice Dogs.
- 11:51Speaker 4: There's a lot of convincing there. He's got all the
- 11:53Speaker 4: leverage in the game. Hey, I thought he had a
- 11:54Speaker 4: decent year other than playing the same system and dumping
- 11:56Speaker 4: Chase all the time. But other than that, other than that,
- 12:00Speaker 4: he wasn't horrible. At least he was competitive with him,
- 12:03Speaker 4: like he let the guys play. But it's this pattern
- 12:08Speaker 4: every single time. It's a pattern of crap. We're gonna
- 12:11Speaker 4: hire a new GM. Hey, we fired the GM. Here
- 12:14Speaker 4: comes a new GM. Hey, this guy's got a plan.
- 12:16Speaker 4: This guy's got a plan. We're gonna hire a new coach. Yep,
- 12:19Speaker 4: you'll be gone at Christmas time. Next thing, you know,
- 12:22Speaker 4: we're gonna go trade eleven draft picks this offseason, like
- 12:25Speaker 4: we've saw how many offseasons ago. We're gonna do that. Oh,
- 12:29Speaker 4: we're not gonna rebuild. We think we have a quality
- 12:31Speaker 4: hockey team here. What then end of the season of
- 12:36Speaker 4: next year, you lose ten games in a row, you
- 12:37Speaker 4: have your ten game losing streak after Christmas, we know
- 12:40Speaker 4: how January collapse goes in Niagress story. Ice Dogs fans,
- 12:44Speaker 4: I'm trying to speak for you guys right now. I'm
- 12:46Speaker 4: speaking for the fans, and I think that it's a joke.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Like for ten game losing streak, trade your captain, trade
- 12:57Speaker 4: your captain in November, yep, get the ten messages out,
- 13:01Speaker 4: and then yep, then you have the ten game losing streak.
- 13:04Speaker 4: And then you complain that there's no leadership in the room.
- 13:06Speaker 4: But you trade your captain for a for a bucket
- 13:08Speaker 4: of bucks and you have no leaders Now, then you
- 13:11Speaker 4: get in, you have your ten game losing streak, You
- 13:13Speaker 4: somehow are in fourth place at Christmas time. Then you
- 13:16Speaker 4: end up finishing seventh or eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Does anyone see this pattern? You get bounced four or
- 13:23Speaker 4: five games in the first round, Fire a GM, fire
- 13:26Speaker 4: the coach, it's all back again, the same pattern. But
- 13:28Speaker 4: there's zero accountability and it's a problem. It's never gonna change.
- 13:33Speaker 4: It's not gonna change. And like I say, Frankie Vola's
- 13:38Speaker 4: moves weren't the greatest moves, but he made quality moves.
- 13:41Speaker 4: At the same time, as a general manager, you're not
- 13:43Speaker 4: gonna be one hundred percent on every single trade you make.
- 13:46Speaker 4: It's not gonna happen. And how do we even know
- 13:48Speaker 4: how his draft was? It's only one year. I thought
- 13:51Speaker 4: Ryer Sedgar had a really good season. I thought getting
- 13:54Speaker 4: your Malenko here with all the stuff you had to
- 13:56Speaker 4: go through, you know, like I think, yeah.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Who knew if Charlie Robertson was gonna be back. He
- 14:03Speaker 2: had a hell of a year. Charlie Robertson here man.
- 14:06Speaker 4: And honestly keeping Patterson the way he did at the
- 14:09Speaker 4: deadline when it sounded like he was gone, like Patterson
- 14:13Speaker 4: was their best player in the playoffs. Like I don't know,
- 14:18Speaker 4: I don't know how it can get better at this
- 14:21Speaker 4: rate with a GM change. That's all my opinion because
- 14:24Speaker 4: I think that, like I say, if you're changing the
- 14:28Speaker 4: general manager, you're changing the coach of the one year
- 14:31Speaker 4: left man. This is an interesting They better not, They
- 14:35Speaker 4: better not, They better announce a coaching extension because if
- 14:38Speaker 4: so man. Other than being the London Knights farm team,
- 14:44Speaker 4: there's nothing, there's nothing like I. I cannot believe it.
- 14:49Speaker 4: I cannot believe it. It's such a good fan base.
- 14:52Speaker 4: It's such a good fan base. And every single year,
- 14:56Speaker 4: every single year, it's the same crap. Trade a player
- 14:59Speaker 4: to London, trade to captain, fire a GM, fire a coach,
- 15:05Speaker 4: bring them all back. It's all gonna be good. Another thing,
- 15:08Speaker 4: like every year, it's the same thing. They gotta pick
- 15:11Speaker 4: a plan here. They gotta pick a plan in place
- 15:14Speaker 4: and stick with it. If it's fifty feet a crap
- 15:18Speaker 4: or if it somehow goes up to forty feet of crap,
- 15:21Speaker 4: because that's how below they are right now, we'll see.
- 15:24Speaker 4: But they gotta they gotta make a decision here and
- 15:28Speaker 4: stick with it. There is no rebuild there, There is
- 15:30Speaker 4: no rebuild with the amount of picks they give up.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Like yeah, we're gonna rebuild. Then a year later we're
- 15:34Speaker 4: a contender. What Like I'm at a loss their words.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Like I said, the only things I can get out
- 15:42Speaker 4: of my mouth is when's the next trade to London.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Other than that, I don't have a like I can't
- 15:46Speaker 4: even talk about it. Man. It bugs me. Like I
- 15:48Speaker 4: feel bad for the fans. It's such a good fan base,
- 15:51Speaker 4: but hey, you gotta give them something to cheer about.
- 15:53Speaker 4: When you see that building with two thousand people in
- 15:55Speaker 4: the arena every game, it looks empty, Like you gotta
- 15:59Speaker 4: give them some to cheer about. Like, it's not the
- 16:01Speaker 4: fans' faults. I don't blame them at all. Like, I'm
- 16:05Speaker 4: sure the league. You can say it's in the it's
- 16:07Speaker 4: in collaboration with the league. I'm sure they can say
- 16:11Speaker 4: all that in their press release, whatever they have going
- 16:13Speaker 4: on there in the office. Congratulations. I don't know, make
- 16:16Speaker 4: a TikTok about it. I don't care. But at the
- 16:19Speaker 4: same time, at the same time, I you gotta be
- 16:23Speaker 4: there for the fans. You got to actually give a
- 16:26Speaker 4: crap for the fans, actually show it for the fans,
- 16:29Speaker 4: because I'm tired of this crap. This is all individually.
- 16:32Speaker 4: People are paying their hard earned money right now a
- 16:34Speaker 4: gas at a dollar sixty to go watch them play,
- 16:37Speaker 4: and they're not giving them any hope. So you got
- 16:39Speaker 4: to You gotta be there for the fans. Gotta be
- 16:41Speaker 4: there for the fans. And I hope that they have
- 16:43Speaker 4: accountability with this, not just a press release that they
- 16:45Speaker 4: did in five minutes. Whatever, post it on TikTok, whatever,
- 16:49Speaker 4: posting on your social media. Feel good about yourself, Go
- 16:52Speaker 4: to bed at night, have a plan, come out, say
- 16:55Speaker 4: the plan, be vocal about it, be positive about it.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Show that you have confidence in yourself, because right now
- 17:01Speaker 4: they have zero confidence in the world it themselves. And
- 17:04Speaker 4: we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. I don't
- 17:06Speaker 4: think anything pauses is gonna happen under this, I really don't.
- 17:08Speaker 4: I think it's just another pattern. We talk in September
- 17:11Speaker 4: and they'll be like, hey, you know, they're gonna make
- 17:13Speaker 4: the playoffs this year, They're gonna finish, They're gonna have
- 17:15Speaker 4: a chance in the division. No they're not. No, they're not.
- 17:18Speaker 4: They never will, and they're they remind me. They remind
- 17:22Speaker 4: me a lot right now. The Toronto Mapleifs of the
- 17:24Speaker 4: Ohl every year it's their year and it never is.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Have a plan, show us, show us a plan. More importantly,
- 17:31Speaker 4: show the fans a plan. Go to war for the fans.
- 17:35Speaker 4: The fans are the ones that support you every single night.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Give an effort for them. Man.
- 17:41Speaker 2: All right, you just hope AI doesn't creep into the
- 17:44Speaker 2: end of the front office like the Toronto Maple leafs.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Oh yeah, well that's what it's gonna be. That's what
- 17:50Speaker 4: it's gonna be. Now, like, oh, oh gosh, here we go.
- 17:53Speaker 4: I you know what, not clean up every single thing
- 17:56Speaker 4: in that place. They gotta clean up everything. Bring a
- 17:58Speaker 4: big vacuum industrial let's clean it up.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Get the shot back out.
- 18:03Speaker 4: Yeah, iist dogs. You got our numbers again.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Frank Evila no longer the general manager of the Niagera
- 18:09Speaker 2: Ice Dogs, as he was only there for one season.
- 18:13Speaker 2: All right, let's get to some awards, a little bit
- 18:16Speaker 2: more positive news out of the Ontario Hockey League this week,
- 18:20Speaker 2: and we're gonna start in the nation's capital with the
- 18:22Speaker 2: Goaltender of the Year. It is Writer feder Off taking
- 18:26Speaker 2: that honor home as he was just spectacular, which makes
- 18:30Speaker 2: your question why he wasn't a nominee for Rookie of
- 18:32Speaker 2: the Year. If he's Goaltender of the Year but not
- 18:34Speaker 2: Rookie of the Year nominated, then okay, yeah, Caleberhult, your
- 18:39Speaker 2: Klipoff for sure deserving to be nominated. Kind of think
- 18:43Speaker 2: feder Off should have been in that conversation too, but
- 18:47Speaker 2: which he was. But yeah, why do we have two?
- 18:49Speaker 4: Though? I can't even like four. Coach of the year
- 18:52Speaker 4: they had like six and the guy that won it
- 18:53Speaker 4: got second place on the season. But I can't. But
- 18:56Speaker 4: Rookie of the Year we only we're not going there.
- 18:59Speaker 4: Rookie of the Year we only got Like it's crazy,
- 19:02Speaker 4: like GM, we only have two of the year, Like
- 19:04Speaker 4: I can't believe there's only Yeah, I agree, one hundred percent.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Rookie of the Year we only got two, but GM,
- 19:10Speaker 4: there's only two coaches like six.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Like I can't believe that.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 2: So is the Jim Rutherford Trophy winner as voted upon
- 19:20Speaker 2: by the league's general managers. He was twenty nine to
- 19:23Speaker 2: nine to two and one, setting a new franchise record
- 19:26Speaker 2: with a two oh seven goals against average and then
- 19:28Speaker 2: a league best nine to twenty three save percentage six shutouts,
- 19:33Speaker 2: is a new Ohl record most by a rookie goaltender
- 19:37Speaker 2: in a single season as well. So and you can
- 19:41Speaker 2: read the article, it's on the Ohl website. But he
- 19:43Speaker 2: gives a lot of credit to the to the coaching staff,
- 19:45Speaker 2: especially Andrew Mercer, the goaltending coach for the Ottawa sixty sevens.
- 19:50Speaker 2: And you know what, give credit where credit's due. Andrew
- 19:52Speaker 2: Mercer had had Ryder Federoff, who had never played in
- 19:56Speaker 2: this league. We didn't really know what he was going
- 19:57Speaker 2: to be in the Ontario Hockey League as a seventeen
- 20:00Speaker 2: year old. Usually expect those guys to grow into being
- 20:04Speaker 2: a number one.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Over the years.
- 20:06Speaker 2: But he came in and immediately had an impact on
- 20:09Speaker 2: the sixty sevens.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 20:10Speaker 2: You look at Jaden Nelson and we knew that he
- 20:13Speaker 2: was gonna have an opportunity to be opportunity to be
- 20:15Speaker 2: the number one, but we didn't really know if he
- 20:17Speaker 2: was going to be. And we know they split time
- 20:20Speaker 2: in the crease this season. But feder Off really really good. Yeah,
- 20:27Speaker 2: just to watch him play, he was he was one
- 20:32Speaker 2: of the best. Actually, he was the best, I should
- 20:35Speaker 2: say this year in the Ontario Hockey League.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Oh, he was incredible. I'm looking at the numbers right
- 20:38Speaker 4: now on the Media Access site for seventeen year old
- 20:43Speaker 4: goaltenders in the OHL. Obviously first in shutouts to top
- 20:47Speaker 4: fifteen games, which is incredible if you go in the
- 20:49Speaker 4: top fifteen games, to play forty one games like that
- 20:51Speaker 4: at seventeen years old is incredible for his age to
- 20:56Speaker 4: be able to have the resume he had throughout the
- 20:58Speaker 4: season speaks for itself. He was great and honestly, you
- 21:01Speaker 4: look at their postseason, he kept them in a lot
- 21:03Speaker 4: of games. I know I mentioned they were that close
- 21:05Speaker 4: to playing in a game six, but let's be honest.
- 21:08Speaker 4: The only reason why they were that close in those
- 21:10Speaker 4: situations you got to ride a feder Off making saves
- 21:13Speaker 4: on his head. He was incredible. What a season, What
- 21:18Speaker 4: a season he had. I mean, he got better throughout
- 21:21Speaker 4: the season, and I think the biggest thing is kept
- 21:23Speaker 4: thinking like, hey, seventeen years old, can this last? Can
- 21:27Speaker 4: can this keep going? Can the train keep moving here?
- 21:30Speaker 4: And it and always did, it always did keep moving.
- 21:33Speaker 4: And I think that's the one thing about Ryder Federoff,
- 21:35Speaker 4: which incredible. I think he's gonna be a high drafted
- 21:37Speaker 4: goaltender in the in the national hockey they get this
- 21:39Speaker 4: upcoming draft for how good he's been, without a doubt.
- 21:42Speaker 4: I mean six foot, he moves a lot like Dustin Wolf,
- 21:46Speaker 4: which is a great camp which is a great comp
- 21:48Speaker 4: for him, because I think that's kind of you know, hey,
- 21:51Speaker 4: six foot goaltenders can still be legit in national hockey
- 21:55Speaker 4: and be really good players in the NHL when you
- 21:58Speaker 4: look at guys like Dustin Wolf, Right, So I think
- 22:00Speaker 4: think that, right I feder Off has absolutely every opportunity
- 22:02Speaker 4: to play pro and be a National Hockey leaguer with
- 22:05Speaker 4: how Giddy's luck this season.
- 22:07Speaker 2: He is the second sixty sevens goaltender to earn this award,
- 22:10Speaker 2: and for the first time since Craig Hillier did it
- 22:13Speaker 2: thirty years ago in ninety five and ninety six, also
- 22:17Speaker 2: the first American born goaltender to win it since twenty
- 22:19Speaker 2: thirteen to fourteen when Alex Nadelkovich of the Plymouth Whalers
- 22:23Speaker 2: took home that award. So congratulations to him, and we're
- 22:27Speaker 2: going to stay in the nation's capital because his bench
- 22:31Speaker 2: boss was named Coach of the Year, Dave Cameron, taking
- 22:35Speaker 2: home that honor. The yeah again, voted by the league's
- 22:40Speaker 2: general managers. You know, look into the power rankings what
- 22:44Speaker 2: you will. I will say that I had the sixty
- 22:47Speaker 2: sevens on the outside not being a part of the postseason.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I was proven wrong. I am very pleased to admit it.
- 22:54Speaker 2: You don't like to predict the team is going to
- 22:56Speaker 2: be really bad, that they're going to not make the
- 22:58Speaker 2: playoffs immediately out of the hop out of ten teams,
- 23:01Speaker 2: two teams aren't gonna make it in each conference, and
- 23:04Speaker 2: I had picked Outawa and I was clearly wrong. So
- 23:07Speaker 2: Dave Cameron obviously a lot of coaches are this way,
- 23:11Speaker 2: but the recognition is a reflection of the group we have.
- 23:15Speaker 2: And that's a quote from Dave Cameron in the article
- 23:16Speaker 2: on the Ohl website one hundred point season forty seven,
- 23:21Speaker 2: fifteen three and three. They did flirt with the division
- 23:25Speaker 2: title for a little bit throughout Christmas in January before
- 23:29Speaker 2: the Bulldogs did eventually pull away. But Dave Cameron gets
- 23:33Speaker 2: his team to the second round in the postseason after
- 23:36Speaker 2: a sweep of the of the Kingston Frontenacs and then
- 23:38Speaker 2: falling in five games to the Barry Colts in the
- 23:43Speaker 2: second round. But again for a team that was predicted
- 23:46Speaker 2: to miss the playoffs and make the second round and
- 23:48Speaker 2: get one hundred point season, I would say it's still
- 23:50Speaker 2: pretty impressive. And again I was wrong and I will
- 23:53Speaker 2: I'll take that. So Rookie of the Year. Now we
- 24:00Speaker 2: are going to Saganaw and I know we had the
- 24:03Speaker 2: discussion a little bit of go Caleb Mount ultra Nikita Klepov,
- 24:06Speaker 2: where the uh the two nominees kind of felt like
- 24:10Speaker 2: writer Federoff should have been a part of this conversation
- 24:12Speaker 2: as well, But it really is hard to argue with
- 24:15Speaker 2: with Nikita Klepov's season with the with the Saganaw Spirit
- 24:19Speaker 2: again another league voted on by the league's general managers.
- 24:25Speaker 3: And I think what's.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Pretty sweet is that for the first time since two
- 24:28Speaker 2: thousand and seven when Patrick Kine claimed the honor the
- 24:34Speaker 2: OHO Rookie of the Year, it's also the league's top scorer.
- 24:37Speaker 2: And that's that's a pretty pretty big name to be
- 24:39Speaker 2: associated with if you're in Nikita Klepov and ninety seven points,
- 24:44Speaker 2: thirty seven of those were goals. And again this and
- 24:47Speaker 2: this is no knocket at the Saganaw Spirit whatsoever. That's
- 24:51Speaker 2: an eighth place hockey club, right, you might not expect
- 24:53Speaker 2: the league's leading score to be on the eighth place team.
- 24:56Speaker 2: But you know, he just found a way to sit
- 24:59Speaker 2: out himself or a Banoff had a had a hell of
- 25:01Speaker 2: a year. But Klepoff sort of stood on his own
- 25:05Speaker 2: in Saganaw. And you look at some of the young
- 25:07Speaker 2: talented players that Saganaw has had over the years, Clepoffs
- 25:11Speaker 2: now in that conversation with the mesays with the profeties, Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 2: just what what a season? That was really really fun
- 25:21Speaker 2: to watch this this young man play.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Yeah, you know he's got that wow factor, that's for sure.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Nikia Kleppoff does. I mean he when you watch him play,
- 25:29Speaker 4: he has that ability to take over a game. That's
- 25:31Speaker 4: why I was shocked he never that they never got
- 25:33Speaker 4: a game against the Rangers. I thought for sure in
- 25:35Speaker 4: the first would steal a game just because of the
- 25:37Speaker 4: ability of him. Man, it felt like you saw that
- 25:40Speaker 4: raspe there and clip off with that. He has that pop.
- 25:43Speaker 4: You know, Like there's some guys that you watch in
- 25:45Speaker 4: warm ups it's like, oh, they can dangle around and
- 25:47Speaker 4: warm up so like really getting in the game, it's
- 25:49Speaker 4: like who is that? You don't notice them? Nikida Klepoff
- 25:52Speaker 4: isn't one of those guys. He's one of those guys.
- 25:53Speaker 4: He comes out on the ice and warm up, you
- 25:54Speaker 4: notice them. You notice in three out of full sixty.
- 25:58Speaker 4: And that's against good teams too. Like, that's as quality
- 26:00Speaker 4: teams too.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Like.
- 26:01Speaker 4: The fact of the matter is he had he had
- 26:03Speaker 4: a heck of a postseason. Still five points in four
- 26:06Speaker 4: games against a red hot Rangers team. I think that
- 26:09Speaker 4: it just speaks for itself for how good his postseason was.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Out of that regular season. I mean, Nikkia Kluppoff was
- 26:15Speaker 4: incredible throughout the whole season. His ability with the pack
- 26:19Speaker 4: without the puk, no matter where he plays in the game,
- 26:22Speaker 4: he's always good. You know what you're gonna get from
- 26:24Speaker 4: Nikita Clapoff, He's great.
- 26:27Speaker 2: To the U eighteens, eight Oitcelers will be a part
- 26:30Speaker 2: of the U eighteen Men's World Championship squad taking place
- 26:36Speaker 2: in Slovakia from April twenty second to May second. Obviously
- 26:41Speaker 2: there can be additions as as the playoffs go along
- 26:45Speaker 2: and continue, the fact that the tournament's starting this week,
- 26:49Speaker 2: I doubt that will happen.
- 26:51Speaker 4: It could yead of like that, but.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Very very slim chance, I would say. But representing the
- 26:58Speaker 2: Ontario Hockey League goal to under Gavin Betts. Heck of
- 27:01Speaker 2: a year for him on defense. Yeah, yeah, I'm really
- 27:06Speaker 2: pumped for that. Yeah, Gavin Betts earned that for sure
- 27:08Speaker 2: for sure. Lucas Ambrosio, the Ariatters, Carter Hicks of the
- 27:12Speaker 2: Brampton Steelheads, Caleb Mitchell from the London Knights, and then
- 27:15Speaker 2: up front Alessandro Diorio or the Sarnia Sting.
- 27:18Speaker 4: J c.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Lemieux from the Sudbury Wolves, who despite only playing four
- 27:22Speaker 2: games in this postseason, I thought Lemiu was really really good.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Yea Yakawaisika the Guelf Storm and then Dima Jilkin, teammate
- 27:29Speaker 2: of Nikita Klepov's And you know again, it's kind of
- 27:33Speaker 2: like the World Championships call. And and not to say it
- 27:35Speaker 2: gets swept under the rug by any means, but World
- 27:38Speaker 2: Championships on the NHL playoffs are going on. There's a
- 27:41Speaker 2: lot of people more focused on the NHL playoffs, whereas
- 27:44Speaker 2: you might run into the situation here with the U
- 27:47Speaker 2: eight teams at the same time as the OHL Conference
- 27:49Speaker 2: Finals and and OHL Championship series. But if your team's
- 27:53Speaker 2: not in it, I encourage you to watch this hockey
- 27:57Speaker 2: and and especially if you are a fan of any
- 28:00Speaker 2: of the teams that I just mentioned players from, it's
- 28:03Speaker 2: definitely worth it to watch that and sort of see
- 28:06Speaker 2: obviously you got to look at the guys this year,
- 28:08Speaker 2: but to see them on the international stage is sort
- 28:10Speaker 2: of another level of talent for these guys.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Oh, without doubt. I mean, I'm excited to see Gavin
- 28:16Speaker 4: Betts playing that. I thought he had a really good
- 28:17Speaker 4: year in Kingston when he got opportunity. I thought they
- 28:20Speaker 4: had a really good They had a really underrated duo
- 28:22Speaker 4: there in Kingston. Uh the Ooro and uh Lemieu jac
- 28:26Speaker 4: Lemieu are two guys and I'm excited to watch play.
- 28:29Speaker 4: I think the Oorio it's an opportunity to get out
- 28:31Speaker 4: of the crap that Sarnia was. And wow, I am
- 28:33Speaker 4: moody today. I am moody today, But I think that
- 28:37Speaker 4: it's an opportunity to get out of what Sarnia was. Right,
- 28:39Speaker 4: they didn't really help them. So I think that in
- 28:42Speaker 4: this opportunity here you get to play with on a
- 28:45Speaker 4: talented team represent your country. I think that's really cool.
- 28:48Speaker 4: And for Ja c Lemieux, I mean, like you mentioned Hees,
- 28:50Speaker 4: he went over to Sudbury and he was incredible from
- 28:52Speaker 4: the winterspid fires. I thought that that deal is gonna
- 28:55Speaker 4: work out just great for both sides. I think, honestly,
- 28:57Speaker 4: you make difference final for the moves that wins. You're made.
- 29:00Speaker 4: You make the conference final, Okay, that's a success. You
- 29:03Speaker 4: give yourself a chance in the final four. It's tough
- 29:06Speaker 4: to make the final four. It's tough to get eliade
- 29:08Speaker 4: eight when you look at the when you look at
- 29:11Speaker 4: what the playoffs have been this year. Right, So I
- 29:13Speaker 4: think that for those two guys j c Lemieux Diorio,
- 29:17Speaker 4: I think they're gonna have massive tournaments. I'm really excited
- 29:19Speaker 4: to see what they can do. I mean, jac Lemu
- 29:21Speaker 4: is probably gonna play that checking role, but I think
- 29:23Speaker 4: he's gonna be really getting that role because that's what
- 29:25Speaker 4: he did. Pretty good at it. Yeah, it'd be pretty
- 29:27Speaker 4: good at it. The first round he went out against Jelachenko,
- 29:30Speaker 4: Jacob Bryant, Marik Vanacker, all first round picks in the NHL.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Yeah, pre day good.
- 29:34Speaker 4: So I think that's exciting for him. I think that's
- 29:36Speaker 4: a really good opportunity for him at the U eighteens.
- 29:38Speaker 3: I agree absolutely.
- 29:40Speaker 2: And then finally before we hit the breake and look
- 29:42Speaker 2: at the Ohl postseason seventy six. OHL is included on
- 29:46Speaker 2: the NHL Central Scoutings Final Draft rankings for the twenty
- 29:50Speaker 2: twenty six NHL Entry Draft. Of course, those big names
- 29:54Speaker 2: right near the top, Chase Reid at number two, Killbuhultra
- 29:57Speaker 2: number six, ni kid to Klepov at number eight, in
- 30:00Speaker 2: Belchez at nine.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Those are your.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Four guys in the top ten belchez Nevotney Ragowski, rider
- 30:08Speaker 2: Cali a part of this Ryan roebrick at twenty eight,
- 30:12Speaker 2: Vladravetsky at forty seven. You look at Pierce Bowie at
- 30:15Speaker 2: fifty six.
- 30:16Speaker 4: Colin.
- 30:17Speaker 2: We can talk all we want about guys right at
- 30:19Speaker 2: the top. Chase Reid gonna be a top five pick, Malhultra,
- 30:22Speaker 2: I think he's gonna be a top five pick. I
- 30:24Speaker 2: don't think he's at six clip off top ten. Belchez
- 30:29Speaker 2: is on the fence. I think we'll see, depending on
- 30:32Speaker 2: who picks there, what they where they want to go.
- 30:36Speaker 2: If there's somebody outside of let's say the top twenty five,
- 30:40Speaker 2: CALLI being the twenty fifth Rankskate Ragowski's twenty one, Novotny
- 30:44Speaker 2: is fourteen. I can't wait to see that guy.
- 30:47Speaker 3: At the next level.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Adam Navotney, Oh my god, if there's a little bit
- 30:51Speaker 2: of a sleeper pick for you, call and and and
- 30:53Speaker 2: for anyone out there looking to see who potentially their
- 30:57Speaker 2: team could draft, who would be someone that you would
- 31:00Speaker 2: make the case for.
- 31:01Speaker 4: I really like Thomas Vandenberg and Audiball, but I want
- 31:04Speaker 4: to go at twenty five with Ryder Cally. I think
- 31:06Speaker 4: Ryder Cally is going to be an incredible hockey player.
- 31:08Speaker 4: I think Ryder Calli is going to be a pro
- 31:10Speaker 4: hockey player. And it's one of those guys in North
- 31:12Speaker 4: Bay when you see when you saw Brazo there back
- 31:15Speaker 4: in the day, and when you see some of these
- 31:17Speaker 4: guys there, they get points and they transition into the
- 31:19Speaker 4: pro game and they become really good pros. Obviously, Calli
- 31:21Speaker 4: doesn't have the size of Brazoh but when you look
- 31:24Speaker 4: at Cali, you look at the most underrated point streak
- 31:26Speaker 4: in the nh or in the Entil Hockey League this year, right,
- 31:29Speaker 4: he had a multi game point streak to wind out
- 31:31Speaker 4: the regular season. Like he did everything that he does.
- 31:36Speaker 4: I mean, he's so good with the precision there. Like
- 31:39Speaker 4: I really think writer Calli the game he plays under
- 31:41Speaker 4: the system, under the Ryan Hulahan system. It's amazing what
- 31:45Speaker 4: happens when you have a system and what they do
- 31:48Speaker 4: there in North Bay. They do incredible work. And I
- 31:50Speaker 4: think that Ryder Calli is going to be a really
- 31:53Speaker 4: good pro hockey player for years to come. I'm really
- 31:57Speaker 4: excited to see what he can do.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Of course, I've totally forgot to mention the goaltenders listed
- 32:03Speaker 2: on this On this list right a feeder Off Ohl
- 32:07Speaker 2: goaltender of the Year.
- 32:08Speaker 3: He's listed at eleven.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Zach Jovanovsky expected to be the guy in Gwelph next
- 32:12Speaker 2: year for the Memorial Cup, unless of trade takes place.
- 32:16Speaker 2: We'll see what George Burnett is cooking up. Step On
- 32:19Speaker 2: Shurigin from the saganaw Spirit number thirteen, Minshak fifteen, Vladyslavia
- 32:25Speaker 2: Malanko from the Ice Dogs at number seventeen, and then
- 32:28Speaker 2: you can look at Gavin Betts, who we just talked
- 32:30Speaker 2: about at number twenty four, Ben Herebik at thirty one,
- 32:35Speaker 2: and Jason Schabel at thirty six. Shovel backup in kitchener
- 32:40Speaker 2: to Christian Kersh. But that is a ton of talent
- 32:45Speaker 2: right there, and I can't wait. I think that's I
- 32:48Speaker 2: think it's I've seen a lot of people like I
- 32:51Speaker 2: shouldn't say complaining because that's not it at all. But
- 32:53Speaker 2: there's a been a few people like, oh, you know,
- 32:56Speaker 2: it'd be awesome if the OHL Draft was around. You know,
- 32:58Speaker 2: there's four teams in the play playoff still goal and
- 33:01Speaker 2: be nice to have the draft going on right now
- 33:03Speaker 2: to have something to talk about and look forward to.
- 33:06Speaker 2: But I think again, moving it to June, moving it
- 33:09Speaker 2: in person, that's in June. Yeah, it's it's draft season,
- 33:13Speaker 2: it's in person.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I mean, it's just gonna lead into the uh, the
- 33:18Speaker 2: NHL Draft in Buffalo, which make the trip if you can.
- 33:23Speaker 2: I went to the last one that was in Buffalo,
- 33:25Speaker 2: that was the Austin Matthews Draft. It has not led
- 33:28Speaker 2: to a Stanley Cup. Are we surprised? Not really Matthews
- 33:32Speaker 2: hell of a player, but weird organization run by ai
- 33:36Speaker 2: H it didn't work.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, you know what's nice about the June draft.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Come June, Come June. Everything's like, oh I miss HL hockey. Well, hey,
- 33:46Speaker 4: here's an actually great point.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Come to point.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Another Another thing I wanted to add was do you
- 33:51Speaker 4: think Ryder Federoff gets a draft bump with the goaltender
- 33:54Speaker 4: of the year. I think, like because sometimes you see it,
- 33:57Speaker 4: sometimes you don't like, like, you know, like McNiven getting it,
- 34:01Speaker 4: Like how like, I.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Think so again it does.
- 34:07Speaker 2: It's the sixth it's the six foot factor. He's not
- 34:10Speaker 2: that thing for six three that that's the only thing.
- 34:12Speaker 2: And and again it shouldn't hold him back. I really
- 34:15Speaker 2: don't expect him to. However, that's where you drop a
- 34:19Speaker 2: few picks, is guy. GMS are not fans of drafting
- 34:23Speaker 2: goaltenders who are six feet tall, which is weird. But
- 34:27Speaker 2: I don't know what happened to the Darren Pangs of
- 34:29Speaker 2: the world, Like come on that good?
- 34:32Speaker 4: Yeah right? I yeah, I like. Well that's why I
- 34:35Speaker 4: like watching Wolf in Calgary reminds me so much a
- 34:37Speaker 4: fedter Off. I mean, the way they move, they're athletic
- 34:39Speaker 4: in the net. They really don't have a style. They're
- 34:41Speaker 4: kind of just in position, very athletic move as well,
- 34:45Speaker 4: Like I I really think that there's an opportunity here,
- 34:47Speaker 4: Like I hope that there's a bump in the draft
- 34:50Speaker 4: rankings due to that too as well with the hopefully
- 34:53Speaker 4: teams have him higher on the board because it'd be
- 34:55Speaker 4: cool to see fed Off go in the top three rounds,
- 34:58Speaker 4: because he's deserving of that.
- 35:00Speaker 2: All right, let's hit the brake. When we come back,
- 35:03Speaker 2: we will take a look at round number two the
- 35:06Speaker 2: teams who are eliminated, and then round number three the
- 35:09Speaker 2: conference finals get underway this week. We'll chat about that
- 35:13Speaker 2: next here on the Ohl and sixty podcast.

- 37:23Speaker 2: I'm Reice Domani. Of course, BC is always behind the
- 37:25Speaker 2: scenes for us on the show. Thank you so much
- 37:29Speaker 2: for tuning in, whether you're watching us on the Armchair
- 37:30Speaker 2: GM Sports Networks YouTube page or if you're listening on
- 37:33Speaker 2: your favorite podcast platform. We hope you've liked the playoffs
- 37:37Speaker 2: to this point. Unfortunately a lot of the matchups have
- 37:41Speaker 2: ended very quickly. But if the conference finals are the same,
- 37:46Speaker 2: well then I'm going to be speechless. I don't expect
- 37:49Speaker 2: them to be, but I would be pretty speechless if
- 37:51Speaker 2: they were. So we're going to get into looking back
- 37:55Speaker 2: at round number two first before we preview the conference finals,
- 37:57Speaker 2: and we are going to start in the West Conference.
- 38:01Speaker 2: It was a five game series between the Kitchen Rangers
- 38:04Speaker 2: and the Sue Saint Marie Greyhounds, number one seed going
- 38:06Speaker 2: up against the number five seed, Kitchener winning the series
- 38:10Speaker 2: four games to one. They win Game one three to one.
- 38:13Speaker 2: They win Game two eight five, They win Game three
- 38:16Speaker 2: in Sue Saint Marie four to three. They lose Game four.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Sue Saint Marie takes that one four to two thanks
- 38:23Speaker 2: to four third period goals by the Greyhounds, and then
- 38:26Speaker 2: it was a dominant five to one victory for the
- 38:29Speaker 2: Kitchen Arrangers in game number five to close it out.
- 38:31Speaker 2: And you know, I'll bring up this point first. If
- 38:34Speaker 2: there was a delay in the schedule because Sue Saint
- 38:35Speaker 2: Marie didn't agree with back to backs on home ice,
- 38:38Speaker 2: and they were the only series with a back to back, Yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 2: let's do a back to back and with travel, Like, really,
- 38:45Speaker 2: come on, that's dumb. But I mean, kitchen really wasn't
- 38:50Speaker 2: kitchener wasn't shivering. That was weird, weird comment. I know
- 38:54Speaker 2: they get that one, but they won five, won the
- 38:58Speaker 2: next game, so that quote did in age. Well, should
- 39:01Speaker 2: send it to like that? What's that ex account that
- 39:04Speaker 2: is like images that precede the actual outcome or something
- 39:09Speaker 2: that I don't know, something like that. I mean, maybe
- 39:13Speaker 2: we'll bring up Otto's tweet from December. But for me,
- 39:19Speaker 2: for me, in this one, I thought Sue was terrible
- 39:22Speaker 2: in their own end. I did not think there was
- 39:24Speaker 2: as much support for Carter George's as there should have been.
- 39:27Speaker 2: And that's not to say Carter George needs extra support
- 39:30Speaker 2: from his club he's a very very good goaltender.
- 39:35Speaker 4: Can't you can't have.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Invisible defenseman in your own zone, like I thought, he
- 39:41Speaker 2: got hung out to dry way too often in this series.
- 39:45Speaker 2: And this is not on him by any means. This
- 39:47Speaker 2: is not on Carter George. I thought the defensive zone
- 39:49Speaker 2: coverage was terrible for the Suit Saint Mary Greyhounds in
- 39:52Speaker 2: this in this series, and Kitchener took full advantage of it,
- 39:56Speaker 2: specifically in in games two and five, with an eight
- 40:00Speaker 2: five winning Game two and then a five to one
- 40:02Speaker 2: winning Game three.
- 40:03Speaker 4: And back in game two.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Oh god, what a debacle that was. You've got thoughts
- 40:09Speaker 2: on that. But uh and and again we're gonna do
- 40:11Speaker 2: it like we did last last episode. We're gonna focus
- 40:13Speaker 2: more on the sus Saint Marie Greyhounds in this one
- 40:15Speaker 2: than the Kitchener Rangers because we are going to look
- 40:17Speaker 2: ahead to Kitchener and and uh and wins are coming up.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Colin Ward's got the bucket hat on because the Greyhounds
- 40:22Speaker 2: are headed to can Kuhn. Hey, the flight was already.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Won warm from the Kitchener and like home Kitchener, so
- 40:35Speaker 4: why not head south?
- 40:36Speaker 5: Now?
- 40:37Speaker 2: I guess kitchen was already South but uh yeah, they're
- 40:41Speaker 2: They're headed to can Kun now, Colin, And I mean,
- 40:44Speaker 2: what what do you take away from the Greyhounds this season?
- 40:46Speaker 2: They spent a fair amount to uh to go all
- 40:49Speaker 2: in and it ends in five games and round number two.
- 40:52Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what, I I know I took I
- 40:56Speaker 4: know I took Sue last round night. And I mentioned
- 40:59Speaker 4: this in my message to Josh Brown beat ready for
- 41:02Speaker 4: the Rangers, and my brain was telling me logically speaking
- 41:08Speaker 4: was saying Kitchener's gonna win this, but my heart was
- 41:12Speaker 4: telling me Sue. And my heart was way wrong because
- 41:16Speaker 4: you know what, they like you mentioned, give up. They
- 41:19Speaker 4: made it too hard on Carter George. Defensively, they weren't
- 41:22Speaker 4: good enough for sure, and it's all hands on decks,
- 41:25Speaker 4: but they just got out class in the series. They
- 41:27Speaker 4: weren't deep enough. I mean, the Ranger defense had the
- 41:29Speaker 4: answer for everything. Dylan Edwards literally owns the Sue Greyhounds
- 41:33Speaker 4: right now. He was so good. That might be the
- 41:37Speaker 4: best trade. Don't even get me started with the GMS
- 41:39Speaker 4: of the year, but that might be the best trade
- 41:42Speaker 4: of the of the Interial Hockey League season. That might
- 41:44Speaker 4: be the best trade of the Ohl season. Just when
- 41:46Speaker 4: you see that that deal for the Rangers, I mean,
- 41:49Speaker 4: how good he's been for them, like incredible. I mean,
- 41:52Speaker 4: can't play Mike McKenzie not in the Coach of the
- 41:54Speaker 4: Year candidate or GM of the Year candidate. I think
- 41:58Speaker 4: that is crazy to me. So yeah, I think that.
- 42:02Speaker 4: I think the Rangers though, like, yeah, they outclassed the Greyhounds.
- 42:05Speaker 4: I think, hey, pick a plan for next year, and
- 42:08Speaker 4: I think that they definitely need a lot of a
- 42:10Speaker 4: lot of change ups in ensue with the Greyhounds.
- 42:14Speaker 3: For sure.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Are they in a are they in a similar spot
- 42:16Speaker 2: his own sound in Sarnia?
- 42:17Speaker 4: What's pretty Martin? What's pretty Martin status? I think that
- 42:20Speaker 4: that tells me if they are or not. But I'm
- 42:22Speaker 4: telling you right now if I.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Don't know, I mean, I mean coaching in front office wise,
- 42:27Speaker 2: not necessarily player personally.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Well, they're coaching communications horrible. They don't they don't feel
- 42:32Speaker 4: comfortable in their system clearly. I mean, if you gotta
- 42:35Speaker 4: yelling screen throughout the whole game in Game five of
- 42:39Speaker 4: the playoffs, so the second round, you obviously don't have
- 42:42Speaker 4: confidence in your players in playing in the system. I've
- 42:45Speaker 4: never I've never saw a coach in hockey. I've never
- 42:48Speaker 4: saw a coach in hockey in game five in a
- 42:51Speaker 4: playoff run have least amount of confidence in his players
- 42:55Speaker 4: in the system. Clearly there's no confidence. If you have
- 42:57Speaker 4: to yell in direct orders at every single second, every
- 43:02Speaker 4: single shift, you clearly don't have confidence in your system.
- 43:05Speaker 4: And you speak to a lot of good coaches around
- 43:08Speaker 4: the OHL, that's number one, that's number one, right. You
- 43:12Speaker 4: put your systems in place in training camp. You have
- 43:14Speaker 4: confidence in your systems. Why would you have to yell?
- 43:17Speaker 4: Why would you have to panic like that on the bench?
- 43:20Speaker 4: Game two made me upset because there's a time out late.
- 43:24Speaker 4: Why put the goalie at the blue line? Just pull
- 43:26Speaker 4: them for the ozone draw? You clearly don't have confidence
- 43:28Speaker 4: in your best player, your captain taking the face off
- 43:31Speaker 4: and Brady Martin help him out with the winger win
- 43:34Speaker 4: get the puck back to the point. How many times
- 43:36Speaker 4: do we see that happen? And literally Game two was
- 43:40Speaker 4: the same day as with as Branford won in double
- 43:44Speaker 4: overtime against North Bay and it was a load of
- 43:46Speaker 4: high play your check O'Brien to banak tie game to
- 43:50Speaker 4: force overtime for the Bulldogs. It literally, it's common sense
- 43:54Speaker 4: when you pull the goaltender. And I watched that. I
- 43:57Speaker 4: watched that time out, and I'm thinking, this is the
- 43:59Speaker 4: superrad Hounds to a tee, this is what we've saw
- 44:02Speaker 4: for the last how many years. Like they call a timeout,
- 44:05Speaker 4: assistant coach is drying up a face off play I
- 44:07Speaker 4: would imagine runs the power play. Okay, he has the
- 44:11Speaker 4: instruction board for the timeout. Ten seconds left on the clock.
- 44:14Speaker 4: In the time out, you see head coach there all
- 44:17Speaker 4: of a sudden barking orders out. That's in one year
- 44:20Speaker 4: out the other. Like I say, there's only one coach
- 44:23Speaker 4: I watched in the league like that who I don't
- 44:26Speaker 4: think has intro I don't think has confidence in their system,
- 44:29Speaker 4: in the way they play the game. And that's them
- 44:31Speaker 4: and I could be wrong, but they never win. So
- 44:36Speaker 4: it's easy to say from can Kun but tough one
- 44:39Speaker 4: for the Greyhounds. But they have a lot of they
- 44:40Speaker 4: have a lot of improvements to make in house in
- 44:43Speaker 4: order to make their roster a better quality roster. And
- 44:47Speaker 4: like I said, they were a good team. They got
- 44:48Speaker 4: a lot of luck this year for sure, but this
- 44:51Speaker 4: is what they were. This is what the Greyhounds were
- 44:53Speaker 4: a second round, second round team. They beat the London Knights. Aye. Congratulations,
- 44:57Speaker 4: that's your Jay Ross this year. The rest is history.
- 45:01Speaker 4: I wish I wouldn't have picked him. Sorry, Kitchener, can't
- 45:04Speaker 4: wait for my next round pick.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Sue Greyhounds next victim off to can Kun.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I guess you're not really a victim if you're going
- 45:12Speaker 2: to Mexico. It's pretty pretty awesome, but uh Sussaint Marie
- 45:15Speaker 2: headed south for the summer. Next up in the Western
- 45:20Speaker 2: Conference in All West Division matchup between the Windsor Spitfires
- 45:23Speaker 2: and Flint Firebirds. It was a clean sweep for the
- 45:26Speaker 2: Windsor spit Fires. They win game one four to two,
- 45:29Speaker 2: they win Game two six to five, they win Game
- 45:32Speaker 2: three two to one, and then they win it in
- 45:34Speaker 2: game four by a score of five to three. A
- 45:39Speaker 2: lot of theories out there colling on Flint. Was it
- 45:44Speaker 2: too easy against No One? Sound that they got into
- 45:46Speaker 2: bad habits? Was Windsor just a mile better once the
- 45:52Speaker 2: playoffs started compared to the regular season where it was
- 45:56Speaker 2: a fight to the finish for that division. You know,
- 46:00Speaker 2: did like I said, did they run into a hot
- 46:03Speaker 2: spit Fire team?
- 46:04Speaker 5: Like?
- 46:04Speaker 4: What?
- 46:05Speaker 2: What happened to the to the Flint fibers. Now, there
- 46:08Speaker 2: was no Kevin heet game three and at all in
- 46:11Speaker 2: Game four, but by that point Winsor was in full
- 46:15Speaker 2: control of that series.
- 46:17Speaker 3: So what do you make of this for Flint?
- 46:19Speaker 4: You know what, you look at the scores, right, four
- 46:20Speaker 4: to two, Game one, close, game six to five, Game two,
- 46:24Speaker 4: close as they can get two to one, Game three,
- 46:26Speaker 4: close as they can get, five to three, Game four.
- 46:28Speaker 4: Every game was close. I mean, you look, if you're
- 46:30Speaker 4: a Flint you look back at this. It's like in
- 46:32Speaker 4: well man, it's not really I know it's a sweet
- 46:34Speaker 4: but it's the closest sweep we could imagine. You know,
- 46:36Speaker 4: you have two one goal games. One goal games can
- 46:39Speaker 4: be huge in the playoffs, right, the Marginian pe air
- 46:41Speaker 4: is so slim when you get in the postseason. I
- 46:43Speaker 4: think for the Firebirds it's one of those things where
- 46:47Speaker 4: you peaked very high. They had a lot of high
- 46:49Speaker 4: stroughout this season. You peaked throughout the year in that
- 46:53Speaker 4: Owen Sound series. He looks really good. Obviously, you can't
- 46:56Speaker 4: get much lower than that, and then all of a
- 46:58Speaker 4: sudden you meet Winsor, who, let's be honest, had a
- 47:01Speaker 4: good series as well against gwelf Right and they were
- 47:04Speaker 4: just ready to go. I think this Windsor team was
- 47:06Speaker 4: a team that they had a better scouting report on Flynn.
- 47:10Speaker 4: And when you get into these situations about coaching having
- 47:13Speaker 4: guys ready right, we saw it last year in the
- 47:14Speaker 4: conference final in the East Right Barry wasn't ready. They
- 47:18Speaker 4: weren't prepared enough to beat the Oshawa Generals. That's why
- 47:20Speaker 4: they didn't show up in the series. And I think
- 47:22Speaker 4: that this is one of those for Flint where maybe
- 47:24Speaker 4: they just weren't ready enough. I thought their start in
- 47:27Speaker 4: Game four of their first period was really good. But
- 47:30Speaker 4: for Windsor to be able to stand tall and to
- 47:32Speaker 4: overcome adversity like that in playoff games speaks for itself.
- 47:36Speaker 4: And I mean I think it was Game two as well,
- 47:38Speaker 4: when they were down Windsor and they had that, Yeah,
- 47:40Speaker 4: they had the wild comeback. Like for Windsor to overcome
- 47:44Speaker 4: leads like that and to be able to come back
- 47:46Speaker 4: in games makes it. I mean, that's huge to overcome
- 47:50Speaker 4: the test of adversity like that in the postseason because
- 47:52Speaker 4: we all know, like this round against Kitchen, for them,
- 47:55Speaker 4: they're gonna be down, They're gonna be down in the series,
- 47:57Speaker 4: They're gonna be down in games. They're gonna have to
- 47:58Speaker 4: have an opportunity. They're gonna have to come back. And
- 48:01Speaker 4: I think that that's something for Windsor that is gonna
- 48:03Speaker 4: bode well with them for having this round against Flint.
- 48:06Speaker 4: And for Flint, I think you had your chance. I
- 48:08Speaker 4: think they had a really good team. Like you say,
- 48:11Speaker 4: you read the scores, Windsor was just better. Sometimes you
- 48:14Speaker 4: gotta tip your cap and I think that it's a
- 48:16Speaker 4: tough one for Flint for sure. But at the end
- 48:20Speaker 4: of the day, Windsor was just better. And I think
- 48:22Speaker 4: for Flint it's hard to it's a hard pill to swallow, right,
- 48:25Speaker 4: because what's your team next year? Right? Vacari played incredible
- 48:28Speaker 4: for them this year. He had the best year of hockey.
- 48:30Speaker 4: He's had the loose Kevin Hea for Game four and
- 48:33Speaker 4: in the third period of Game three.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Like those are eligible next year too.
- 48:38Speaker 4: Yeah, Like it's tough to see where Flint's gonna go.
- 48:41Speaker 4: I would imagine it's a rebuild, and that's the toughest
- 48:44Speaker 4: pill to swallow for them, right, to not get to
- 48:46Speaker 4: the conference final when I felt when it felt like
- 48:49Speaker 4: personally like I thought this was the year that you know,
- 48:51Speaker 4: they get the conference final, they get the chance to
- 48:53Speaker 4: be the team right got the ball in a round two.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and I mean last time they were really in
- 49:00Speaker 2: conversation twenty twenty two, it was the same team that
- 49:04Speaker 2: took them out, albeit a win seven games in twenty
- 49:06Speaker 2: twenty two. But there they're nemesis, the Windsor spit Fires.
- 49:11Speaker 2: There's always gonna be the rivalry between the Spirit and Firebirds.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong, but the Spitfires and Firebirds are
- 49:16Speaker 2: something to watch, you know, down down the road. Because
- 49:20Speaker 2: this is twice down the playoffs that Windsor has taken
- 49:22Speaker 2: out the Firebirds in years where it felt like Flint
- 49:25Speaker 2: could go to the to the finals. So Flint also
- 49:30Speaker 2: headed to can Kun. After getting swept by the Windsor
- 49:32Speaker 2: spit Fires four games to none, we head to the
- 49:36Speaker 2: Eastern Conference for the other sweep in round number two.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Game one to the Bulldogs eight to one, Game two
- 49:43Speaker 2: to the Bulldogs for to one, Game three to the
- 49:46Speaker 2: Bulldogs three to two in double overtime, and then a
- 49:49Speaker 2: five to three Bulldogs win in Game four thanks to
- 49:54Speaker 2: the flood flooding five to three, the Bulldogs win that
- 49:58Speaker 2: one to sweep the series. You know in Brantford and
- 50:03Speaker 2: and the Bulldogs obviously they're undefeated in the playoffs overall,
- 50:06Speaker 2: but they're the best team at home, uh in the
- 50:09Speaker 2: Ontario Hockey League. You know, in no parts of games
- 50:14Speaker 2: one and two did I think the Battalion had a chance.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I thought, that's how dominant Brantford was. And you can
- 50:21Speaker 2: look back at round number one against Sudbury where that
- 50:23Speaker 2: series was way closer than you thought it would be. Again,
- 50:26Speaker 2: it was a sweep, but you look at some of
- 50:28Speaker 2: the scores and how Sudbury played, You're like, you know what,
- 50:30Speaker 2: tip your cap. Sudbury played really hard and really well.
- 50:33Speaker 2: And then you look at these first two games expecting
- 50:36Speaker 2: it to be tighter and you're like, what, but that's
- 50:40Speaker 2: not North Bay like and and you're right, Game three, yeah,
- 50:43Speaker 2: I went to double overtime, bullocks a mile.
- 50:46Speaker 3: It wasn't even close.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Yeah, if the Bulldogs could get a save, I mean
- 50:50Speaker 4: yeah that so, I.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Mean, that's the one thing I'm gonna take away, Like
- 50:55Speaker 2: we didn't see North Bay in this series. I'm not
- 50:58Speaker 2: sure what the heck happened again, whether it's just preparation
- 51:01Speaker 2: heading into the series or I don't. I don't know
- 51:04Speaker 2: if Peterborough took that much out of them, but that
- 51:07Speaker 2: was not a typical North Bay.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Team.
- 51:11Speaker 2: And yeah, they had a couple of guys banged up.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Barts didn't play Game one, no, but I it just
- 51:19Speaker 2: it was far from what we expected by North Bay.
- 51:22Speaker 4: Yeah, you know for Barts when he battled through a
- 51:24Speaker 4: Petrie battle through the lower body, I mean, that's tough
- 51:28Speaker 4: for them. I mean those are two. I mean, Bartch
- 51:30Speaker 4: played in the rest of the games, but he wasn't himself.
- 51:32Speaker 4: And when you see the article after Game three and
- 51:35Speaker 4: you see the quote from Ryan Lilahan, kind of makes
- 51:37Speaker 4: perfect sense. We know the Bulldoyers are gonna have We
- 51:41Speaker 4: knew they were gonna have the puck. We knew they
- 51:43Speaker 4: were gonna own possession. We knew they were gonna outshoot us.
- 51:46Speaker 4: But we gotta limit their chances to the outside. Well,
- 51:49Speaker 4: the Bulldoye are one of those are one of the
- 51:50Speaker 4: only teams that you can say, Okay, we're gonna give
- 51:53Speaker 4: them the interior on the ice like the outside, but
- 51:58Speaker 4: you're gonna give Jacob Bryan open and seams than to
- 52:01Speaker 4: make those passes from the outside to the inside, and
- 52:04Speaker 4: there's nobody better than Jacobrien. The CZI is passing the
- 52:07Speaker 4: puck the way he does, nobody's better than the Entil
- 52:09Speaker 4: hockey get that, and I think that that's something there
- 52:12Speaker 4: where you can do that with the Bulldogs. For sure,
- 52:15Speaker 4: you want to take the front of the net away automatic,
- 52:18Speaker 4: but giving guys like Adam Bannock, Jacobrien, jet Lachenko who
- 52:21Speaker 4: had an excellent chance in Game four on the Jacobrien
- 52:24Speaker 4: goal with the deflection, Like you look at those types
- 52:28Speaker 4: of plays, like you can give him the outside, but
- 52:33Speaker 4: you look at the majority of the goals they got
- 52:34Speaker 4: scored on they started from the outside. It's one of
- 52:37Speaker 4: those things where the Bulldogs had had to answer for
- 52:39Speaker 4: everything North Bay did, and I thought North Bay maybe
- 52:42Speaker 4: they were. They got banged up in that Peterborough series
- 52:44Speaker 4: for sure, But Mike mckiver came in and played great.
- 52:47Speaker 4: I mean, he's the only reason why it wasn't a
- 52:49Speaker 4: blowout in game In Game three in the overtime, the
- 52:53Speaker 4: Bulldogs were that good and I thought North Bay gave
- 52:55Speaker 4: it They're all in Game four that just didn't. They
- 52:57Speaker 4: just couldn't match up with the Bulldogs. In my opinion,
- 52:59Speaker 4: this couldn't match up. And that's what it came down
- 53:02Speaker 4: to in the four game sweep.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Well, and it was a three it was a three
- 53:07Speaker 2: goal deficit. In Game four as well, Bulldogs went up
- 53:09Speaker 2: three nothing. You're think, okay, they're going to cruise to victory,
- 53:11Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden they comes back to
- 53:13Speaker 2: tie it. Bulldogs obviously got the got the next two,
- 53:17Speaker 2: including an empty netter, but yeah, that's another sweep. In
- 53:22Speaker 2: round number two, the Bulldogs take out the Battalion, who
- 53:25Speaker 2: head to ken Kuhn and for North Bay weather.
- 53:30Speaker 3: Yeah, give me some Mexico, give me some nice margarita's.
- 53:34Speaker 4: Yeah, that nice heat can get rid of the flood.
- 53:38Speaker 3: Flood.
- 53:41Speaker 2: That's not to say there wasn't a flood. I saw
- 53:42Speaker 2: the photos, but there's an inside story to that that
- 53:47Speaker 2: we're not going to share. And finally, in round number two,
- 53:50Speaker 2: the Barry. Round number two concluded with the Barry Colts
- 53:56Speaker 2: taking down the Ottawa sixty seven's in five games, bear
- 54:00Speaker 2: winning game one four to two, winning Game two five
- 54:03Speaker 2: to three, Ottawa coming back in Game three to take
- 54:06Speaker 2: that one five to make the series two to one.
- 54:09Speaker 3: Game four.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Felt like it was going over time and then a
- 54:14Speaker 2: wide open four by six was missed and Barry hung
- 54:17Speaker 2: on for a three to win, and then was the
- 54:21Speaker 2: Colts with a four to one win. Yeah, that that
- 54:24Speaker 2: kind of felt like the nail in the coffin a
- 54:26Speaker 2: little bit there calling where and again, you can't go
- 54:29Speaker 2: down three nothing and expect to win every single time.
- 54:31Speaker 2: I think that's a bad recipe. To start down three
- 54:35Speaker 2: nothing and then try to start playing. Sounds like the
- 54:37Speaker 2: Detroit Red Wings in March. You get down there.
- 54:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah, there's that.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Yeah, But but to get down three nothing, I mean,
- 54:46Speaker 2: it was a tall hill to climb, regardless whether you're
- 54:48Speaker 2: tied it or not, if you're the sixty sevens in
- 54:51Speaker 2: game number four, But again, I just thought Barry was better.
- 54:57Speaker 5: You know.
- 54:58Speaker 2: The best way to put it is, I thought the
- 55:00Speaker 2: took a huge bite out of the Ottawa sixty sevens
- 55:02Speaker 2: in this one.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:05Speaker 2: I've got a few thoughts on some other things. I'm
- 55:09Speaker 2: not gonna not gonna get into that now. But the
- 55:14Speaker 2: Barry Colts were clearly the better team. I thought Autaw
- 55:16Speaker 2: was actually better in game number five in terms of
- 55:19Speaker 2: chances in possession, But yeah, the Colts overall were in
- 55:23Speaker 2: control of most of this series and that's what counts,
- 55:26Speaker 2: and that's what got Buried to a four games to
- 55:28Speaker 2: one series win.
- 55:29Speaker 4: Yeah, you know they were desperate autolat for sure in
- 55:31Speaker 4: Game five. I mean they had to be. I thought
- 55:33Speaker 4: the Game four was kind of and I know in
- 55:36Speaker 4: Ottawa you heard talks after the game about, well, the
- 55:39Speaker 4: way the end of the game, there's confidence, but at
- 55:40Speaker 4: the end of the day, you're going down to Barry
- 55:42Speaker 4: three to one with your backs up against the wall
- 55:44Speaker 4: on the road, that's a tough ask. And I think
- 55:47Speaker 4: that that honest, And like I said, it felt like
- 55:50Speaker 4: and I don't want to put pressure on the poor kid,
- 55:52Speaker 4: but it feels like when the net wide open like
- 55:55Speaker 4: that and you miss it. It's like we saw that
- 55:57Speaker 4: at the Olympics, and you know, something's just not meant
- 56:01Speaker 4: to be. And it's tough. Ottawa had a heck of
- 56:02Speaker 4: a season. It's really not a can kun shot for
- 56:08Speaker 4: Ottawa for what they've overcome this year, the fact that
- 56:11Speaker 4: they were in the division, they were first placed in
- 56:13Speaker 4: the East in December, Like, you know, like I thought that, like,
- 56:19Speaker 4: for what they've overcome, it just felt like that Game four,
- 56:23Speaker 4: if that felt like the series, you know, that felt
- 56:25Speaker 4: like the moment where if you score there and you're successful,
- 56:29Speaker 4: this is gonna be a series. You know, this is
- 56:30Speaker 4: going six to seven games. You got a chance. Yeah,
- 56:33Speaker 4: But then when it feels like if they score there,
- 56:35Speaker 4: they're winning and overtime, they can make that comeback like
- 56:38Speaker 4: that in Game four, they're winning and overtime and it
- 56:41Speaker 4: just wasn't meant to be And it sucks. It's a
- 56:43Speaker 4: tough one, but for Ottawa. But if any of these
- 56:45Speaker 4: teams that got eliminated in the second round, for Ottawa,
- 56:48Speaker 4: it's like, well, hey, this team's gonna be back next season.
- 56:50Speaker 4: I know right now there's no certainties and it's hard
- 56:52Speaker 4: to say, hey, this team's gonna be back next season,
- 56:55Speaker 4: but really there's no there's no certainty at all, Like
- 56:59Speaker 4: at this rate with the new landscape, I mean, golf
- 57:02Speaker 4: can host the Them Cup and finish seventh place next
- 57:04Speaker 4: year like there, I wouldn't be surprised by that.
- 57:06Speaker 2: Like it's hard as out of the playoffs now Cup hosts.
- 57:11Speaker 2: They just lost in round two. Yeah, like it's hard
- 57:14Speaker 2: to do so, Like at the.
- 57:15Speaker 4: End of the day, I think that like with Ottawa,
- 57:18Speaker 4: like you can you can hold your head high, thinking
- 57:21Speaker 4: about you overachieved this year, which they did, but there's
- 57:25Speaker 4: no guarantees going into next year, you know, like there's
- 57:29Speaker 4: no guarantees going the next season. I hope that they
- 57:33Speaker 4: can be competitive and I hope they can take a
- 57:34Speaker 4: step forward, but in all honesty and the new landscape
- 57:37Speaker 4: in the unknown, it's scary, like I don't know what
- 57:40Speaker 4: they could be. Like I feel like, yeah, I want
- 57:42Speaker 4: to give them the benefit of the doubt. They can
- 57:43Speaker 4: be really good. But what happens right at federovs committed
- 57:46Speaker 4: to Penn State, you know, they lose them.
- 57:50Speaker 3: Yep.
- 57:51Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised if they finished ninth, you know,
- 57:53Speaker 4: Like it's very interesting where Ottawa where they go from
- 57:57Speaker 4: this young team, young core for sure, to build with
- 58:01Speaker 4: and hopefully they can stick together for next season and
- 58:03Speaker 4: be a team that's to compete for an OHL championship,
- 58:06Speaker 4: because they had a heck of a season and they
- 58:08Speaker 4: were that close. They were an inch away from going
- 58:11Speaker 4: six games, and I truly believe possibly winning in six
- 58:14Speaker 4: seven games. No, no pun intended. If if the if
- 58:19Speaker 4: that goes in the net, and I hate to do that.
- 58:21Speaker 4: I hate to do that on the poor kid that's
- 58:22Speaker 4: so I'm not mentioning the name. I hate that for
- 58:26Speaker 4: them because I know all season you're gonna feel like crap.
- 58:28Speaker 4: Like I you know, it's it's like going up to
- 58:32Speaker 4: the plate and striking out on three pitches. It doesn't
- 58:34Speaker 4: keep you up all night because you sucked. You know,
- 58:36Speaker 4: like this is you know, you're sorry, Sorry, I had
- 58:42Speaker 4: to get something in the playoffs. It just feels like,
- 58:46Speaker 4: you know, I just for Ottawa, I I hope, and
- 58:50Speaker 4: I'm thinking about the person like I don't want to
- 58:53Speaker 4: make it sound like I'm blaming that's the series. Obviously
- 58:56Speaker 4: it wasn't the case. I mean, they took penalties late
- 58:58Speaker 4: in Game five, which was the end all be all
- 59:00Speaker 4: four of them. It was just too much to overcome.
- 59:02Speaker 4: But I feel like with Ottawa, I mean, out of
- 59:05Speaker 4: any of these teams, you gotta have you gotta keep
- 59:07Speaker 4: your head high because you're gonna have an opportunity next year.
- 59:09Speaker 4: You can keep the gang together.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Brandon just texted our group saying neat for my cough there.
- 59:16Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know what was neat. I
- 59:17Speaker 3: just did a cough. I'm not watching the.
- 59:19Speaker 4: Blue Jays this year. I'm just watching the Blue Jays
- 59:21Speaker 4: versus Yankees last season. He's in Triple A talking about
- 59:31Speaker 4: bad social media teams. Who whatever? The Triple A team
- 59:36Speaker 4: of the Yankees. Wow, I mean you open up a
- 59:40Speaker 4: can of wear and still talking about Volpi's home. Yeah,
- 59:43Speaker 4: he's home. Jeter Juniors in Triple A makes sense.
- 59:50Speaker 3: Domingz, That's worked out well.
- 59:52Speaker 4: He was the next Alex Rodriguez.
- 59:54Speaker 2: Oh wait, hey, rod fell off to the Western Cam
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: Difference Finals. The two teams that will fight for the
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Wayne Gretzky Trophy, the winsor spit Fires against the Kitchener Rangers.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: I think one thing that's awesome about this final four
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: is we've got all four division winners for the for
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: the conference finals. But Kitchener, of course, having home ice,
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: they will host Games one and two. They take place
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: April twenty fourth and April twenty six at the Kitchener
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Memorial Auditorium. Game three and four at the Waftku Center
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: in Windsor. That is April twenty seventh. So, as we
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: mentioned earlier, Game two and three are a back to back,
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: and then the twenty ninth will be Game four, and
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: then if necessary, May first is Game five. May third
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: is game six and May fourth Star Wars Day is
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: game number seven, and then Colin Ward's gonna be busy
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: the next day on Cinco de Mayo.
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: So but this week's yeah, I'm getting old. We were
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: getting all that you're getting old.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: We were gonna get to that.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: Getting old. I'm getting old.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: But yeah, you're kind of old.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: That's why I'm getting all emotional. That's why I'm getting
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: all moody today. I've been I've been pissy today, I've
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: been snarly. I'm doing the least Leon Dreich title there.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: Why why you you know what? Though this series wins
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: your kitchener, it's gonna be a battle, but there's a
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: battle off the ice in BC. You better have that
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: mic ready in the clouds because I hear you are
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: going to Windsor and you're trying some pizza. We better
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: get a pizza review on the next episode. Here better
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: we have to where is he? We need, have to
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: need like we need.
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: We'll have some sort of pizza content coming for sure.
- 1:01:52Speaker 7: By the way, our clip with Joey Costanzo about his
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: pizza is still getting comments on TikTok about people commenting
- 1:01:59Speaker 7: their face.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: Reach out, reach out to Joey, Hey, I know it's
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: the playoffs. I know it's hard in the schedule. But
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: if here's time, if he's got a half hour out
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: of his day, get a pizza review with him, get
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: a pizza review with him. That's the quality. It's a
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: it's a content.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Carpool do carpool pizza.
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: Hey, that's the content the pizza want, the people want,
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: the pizza people want, and not the content where we're
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: asking people behind the camera questions. No one cares about that.
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: We want to know about the pizza reviews and windsor PC.
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: You got potential there to really this could be the
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: control and effect. This could be to control and effect VCA,
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: the balls in your court.
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: I'll be on the scene for games three and four
- 1:02:50Speaker 7: in Windsor so I'll do my best.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: All right, all right, there we go, all right, there
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: we go out of this one calling.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: There's playoff history here between the Kitchen Rangers and Windsor
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: spit Fires, and that even goes back to the nine
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: ten Memorial Cups for the Windsor spit Fires. There was
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: a time that the Rangers were up three games to
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: none on their way to an OHL championship, and then
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Winsor had other ideas because they pulled off the reverse
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: sweep and won that series in seven games. But but
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: what are you looking forward to most out of out
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: of this series? Is it Costanzo and Kursh Is it
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: O'Reilly versus Green Tree?
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: What?
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: What are you? What are you looking for out of
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: this one?
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: I think Windsor's playing a complete game. I think everyone
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: in the East talks about Branford, but I don't think
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: they talk about Windsor enough in the West. I mean,
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: I think with Windsor, they haven't lost a game yet.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: I don't think in the playoffs and nope, well yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: They swept twelth, so you know, you haven't lost a
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: game in the postseason yet you start off on the
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: road in Kitchener, which is crazy to think, right, Like,
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: you haven't lost a game in the playoffs and you
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: start off the conference final on the road, like, I
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: don't know how often that has happened, but not too often.
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: I think for the Windsor spit Fires to be able
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: to to have momentum coming into this series, I feel
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: like they would have it over Kitchener. And I know
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: that's crazy to say to me, think, well, why because
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: the way the Spitfires are playing right now, they're coming
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: over a team with Flint where Flinn. Let's be honest,
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: they were the favorites coming into that round. After what
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: they did Owen Sound. We got our answer on Owen Sound.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: They were just that bad. They quit and you look
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: at Windsor now when they go into Flint, they play
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: like the way they have they were a force. I mean,
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: Villaam's playing really good hockey right now, Barron's playing good hockey.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: Look at their additions. They made it the trade deadline.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: I mean, they're playing good hockey. But the Kitchener Rangers,
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: you know, the one thing about the Rangers that, in
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: my opinion, is if they are not successful in achieving
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: their dream of the j Ross mem Cup everything along
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: those lines. The one thing that I believe will haunt
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: the Kitchener Rangers is that ten minute laps they have
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: in a game. There's ten minutes in a game where
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: they just give up a couple of goals and it's like, well,
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: now we got a game.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: So what we saw in Game four in the third period, yes, essentially, yeah,
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: I mean yeah.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: Like there's always parts of games where it's like there's
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: a ten minute stretch where they give up goals. Game two,
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: they had that. Game two, they had that where soon
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: didn't look great and then they get a few goals
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: and it's like Brady Martin didn't even really do much
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: in the in the game, like, but they still found
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: a way sue That ability, in my opinion, is going
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: to be one of the most interesting spots for Kitchener
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: in the series. I think with Winsor, you take ten
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: minutes off in a game you're in trouble, you're in trouble,
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: and the balance scoring that Winsor has right now, you know,
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: I think you look at their three lines and then
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: four lines. I'll say you look at all four lines
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: right now in the matchup. I don't know who it favors.
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: I like Kitchener's D and I and that bit me
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: last round, So now I obviously got to stick with it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: But this is going to be This is gonna be
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: a seven game series, And I know I have been
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: wrong with the series so far, with how blowouts these
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: series have been, but I think this series has to
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: be one of those games where it has to go seven.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: It has to be one of those series where you
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: go seven for the league, and I think it will.
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: I think that Winsor is gonna find a way to
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: win games, and they're gonna lose games in this series.
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: I think Kitchener is gonna lose games in this series.
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: I think this These are the two best teams and
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: it's too tight of hockey to see a sweep in
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: this series. I do not see a world where this
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: is a sweep by any means. So for HL fans
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: listening to this, this isn't gonna be a sweep. This
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: is gonna be a series. I'm gonna take Kitchener. I'm
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: gonna take Kitchener in seven. Josh, I'm back Kitchener in
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: the sea. We need it, we need it.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know what it's The playoffs have been
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: a letdown and and don't get me wrong, we've seen
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: some dominant performances Flint and Round one. You know, Branford
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: winsor undefeated. Kitchener has been on a roll. Despite losing
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Game four to Sue Saint Marie, they're still, you know,
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: eight and one, so tough to look at that as
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: a bad thing. So no, I'm really excited for this one. Again,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: there's history there in the playoffs between the Spitfires and Rangers,
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: so expect both buildings to be packed. I believe both
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: hold about seven thousand kitcheners just over. I think Windsor's
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: just under. I could be wrong, but they're hovering around
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: that seven thousand marks. So I'm excited to see both
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: buildings fired up, and especially before the third period in Windsor.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: For don't stop believing, because that is awesome. I love
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: that they kept that all right to the Eastern Conference Finals.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: The two teams fighting for the Bobby Or Trophy, Barry
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: Colts and the Branford Bulldogs. Again, these are the two
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: division winners from the Eastern Conference. Game one April twenty
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: second in Brantford, Game two April twenty fourth in Brantford.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Then the series will shift to Barry April twenty six.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: This game three, April twenty eighth, is game four. I
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: look at games five, six, and seven. Game five is
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: April thirtieth, Game six is May second, and Game seven
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: would be on May fourth in Brantford, Colin we saw
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: these two teams meet in the past, albeit different groups.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: Don't get me wrong.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: In the twenty twenty three playoffs, Brant Clark was a
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: was a Barry cult at the time. Nick Lartis was
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: into his first season as a as a Bulldog. Different
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: stars now so Heil Panwar? Oh yeah, so Heel Panwar.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: Played for London, Flint, Peterborough and.
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: Hamilton history with Colin Ward. Hey, I am.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: You were a part of the media availability on on Monday.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: I had to work.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: What did you get out of that? And we're gonna start.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: We'll start with the Bulldogs. What did you get out
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: of that? J McKee, Jcobrien, We're a part of that.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: And again, if you would like to go watch that
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: media availability, you can watch it right here on the
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: Armchair GM Sports Networks YouTube page. But we'll start with
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: Branford and jmicke and Jacobrien.
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what this in Branford's case, they've had
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: a lot of energy in the postseason so far. You
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: really see that vibe switch here. Regular season, you saw
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: a lot of ups and downs. In the postseason. You
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: saw some dominant play so far to the Bulldogs and
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: you see something there, You see something I see something there,
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: like I see something there for the Rangers. You know,
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: it's just it's meant to be for those teams. And
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: when you see a team on the run, on a
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: run that's you get that vibe, you see it before
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: it comes. And I think that those two teams in
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: the league right now really stand out to me throughout
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: the season. And Branford, you really saw the energy at
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: the press conference. You really get I thought that maybe
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: there's nerves, but maybe just dialed in. I think Barry
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: had a lot of nerves as well. I mean bode
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: Way and h just and they're they're quiet, you know,
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: like not a lot to say, and and to be fair,
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: there isn't really a lot to say. It's a touchy subject.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: I find the pre series these press conferences to be
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: quite dry because coaches aren't tipping their cap, players aren't
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: tipping their cap. You get what you get and you
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: move on. You're not gonna pry for answers in the
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: press conference beforehand. You're just not gonna get them. And
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: I think that for both sides it was like that.
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: But I think for Branford there's been a lot of
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: energy throughout this is the playoffs so far. The depth
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: of the team. I mean, they have a third line
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: right now, Charlie Piquett, Gabe Farasca, youar pick on the
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: dogcast reached to be one of those valuable players in
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: the postseason for the Bulldogs, Gabe Forrasca and Luca Tesla,
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: who I think is playing the best hockey he's played
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: in the OHL so far in his career. And I
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: think that you look at a line like that is
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: your third line, it's hard to match up against. It's
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: hard to get three lines where your third line can
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: match up with that. The Parry Colts are two lines deep.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: That's what's gonna be the challenge for the Colts, the
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: two verse four lines there. But I feel, I feel
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: this is gonna be a series. I have Branford in
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: six games. I think it's gonna be a good series.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: And I think for the Bulldogs they trust the depth,
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: they trust the system, and they showcase that in the
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: press conference for Parry. For Parry, I mean their big
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: thing is penalties, and I mean on the flip side
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: for the Bulldogs it should be as well. But for Barry,
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: penalties penalties are a big thing for the Bowl. For Barry,
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: Let's be honest, their achilles heel is taking dumb penalties
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: they do. They do that too many times and it
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: starts up top. It starts with their leadership. Boduin. No,
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: but Ah just said, let's be honest. Yeah, you hear
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: Josh Sweetland, director of OHL Communications, say the question, he's
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: no story to spending time in the box. He's no,
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: he's no stranger like let like. It's no secret. It's
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: no secret. But the Barry Colts and their coaching staff,
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: from what I get from the press conference and essentially said, Okay,
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: we know we're gonna take penalties in the series. We
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: can't take dumb ones. Logically speaking, yet you would hope that.
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: But the way they play the game, the way Barry
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: plays the game, they're one of there. They're two different teams.
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: You know, they're when they're winning, they're really hard to
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: play against. It's all about the start of their game.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: It's all about how their first period goes, their first game,
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: their first game, and they're if they score the first
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: goal and they're feeling good, hey there they go, right.
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: But they're the team in the third period that if
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: they're down a couple of goals late, they're gonna run around,
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: they're gonna look for stuff. And it's no secret. It's
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: been no secret. It Honestly, I didn't think that Barry
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: Colts looked great against the Niger Ice Dogs in the
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: first round. I mean, let's not forget when they were
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: up like that and then they almost blew it then almost,
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: but it was closer than it should have been. There's
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: been games.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: An eight one game at one point finished nine to six.
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: Big time. Yeah, like you know, there's been games that
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: you know, you gotta have that step. And I think
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: for Barry, they're a heck of a team. It's gonna
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: be a really good series. They got every chance, they
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: got every chance to win the series. It's gonna be
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: a good series they got. I can see them winning
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: the series for sure. But it's gonna be And like
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: you say, we know Ben Wilma, we know Emil Heming,
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: we know Brad Gardner, colebod Went, and we know they're
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: gonna get the goals. We know they're gonna have chances.
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: Everyone in the ohl knows that those guys are superstars.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: They're really get We know Agison has a shot on
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: the power play. What a match up that's gonna be
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: Ben Danford on the penalty kill side with Kayshawn Agison
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: in the flank. What a matchup that is? On the
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: penalty kill for the Bulldogs, power play for the Colts.
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: But I feel like I.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: Feel like at the end of the day, it comes
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: between the years for the Barry Colts, Elias and Aitchison.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: That's what it comes down to. Sebeski as well. Can
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: you keep your head on your shoulders. If you play composed,
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: you're gonna have a chance to win the series. If
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: you don't, you run around Hey kayshawn Ahius and trade
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: off for Ryder Bolton. That's a huge win for the Bulldogs.
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: Jay McKee's taking that matchup all day. So if you're
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: the Barry Colts, you gotta keep the head on your shoulders.
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: You gotta stay composed through a seven game series. You're
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: gonna have to win a late one. If the Barry
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: Colts are gonna win the series, you're gonna have to
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: win in six seven games. You're gonna have to go
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: a long ways to have a chance. So the way
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: you do that is you keep your head on your shoulders.
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: You gotta play with composure and uh, if they can
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: do that, they'll be successful.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: Yeah, the Bulldogs throughout the playoffs so far eleven for
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: twenty five on the man advantage and that was including
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: it being nine for eighteen against the Sudbury Wolves. So
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: it'll be good. It'll be good. I'm really looking forward
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: to it. The final four are set. In the West,
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: it is Kitchener against Windsor. In the East it is
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: Brantford against Barry. Again, we will break for the entire
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: third round of the postseason and then we'll be back
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: to t up THEHL Championship series. Who's it gonna be Well,
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: we'll find out over the next couple of weeks. Colin Ward.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: It's gonna be fun. I'm really looking forward to this.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: And again, to this point a big game's been competitive. Sure,
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: but we got to see your series here. We gotta
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: see some length.
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: Six stixer and a seven would be pretty cool.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: That'd be huge.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: I also, I don't I don't like I don't like
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: how the series you're gonna have games on the same day.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: I don't like that. I wish it was every other day.
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: Let's get every night, every night for two weeks, we
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: get OHL hockey. Let's do it that way.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: Let's do it that way.
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: That'd be so much better than having games at the
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: same time, because now you're not gonna get the full
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: potential viewing experience of watching every team play. It's gonna
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: be every other I wish it was every other night
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: and said that at the same time. But Wednesday night,
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: all eyes on the Eastern Conference in Branford. What a
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: showdown that's gonna be.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: What a show TD Civic Center, seven o'clock, Barry Colts
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: and Branford Bulldogs. Everyone, Thank you so much for tuning
