- 1:10Speaker 1: j Busby his book Iron in the Blood on the
- 1:13Speaker 1: Alabama Auburn rivalry.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Uh all of that the first.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Say, I didn't warn you. Remember you have to have
- 1:25Speaker 1: your Friday's careless football.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Thanks Kim Gurney that you're a deadline. We're a funny
- 1:40Speaker 3: out there.
- 1:42Speaker 4: We've got some game.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Public station on Ohio State, Ian, the Miami can Alabama
- 1:56Speaker 3: State for those are the games?
- 2:07Speaker 1: Are you already knew that we are getting down to
- 2:39Speaker 1: the wire and we have got several people scrambling to
- 2:43Speaker 1: get their name engraved on the cop So good luck
- 2:49Speaker 1: to you. I'm saying good luck. I'm looking at football
- 2:58Speaker 1: games like tomorrow night, Thursday, Thanksgiving. Remember we've talked about
- 3:05Speaker 1: this many times, but I have to talk about it still.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Thanksgiving was made for college football, not the NFL before
- 3:13Speaker 1: they took over. There's one Thanksgiving game tomorrow evening. That's
- 3:18Speaker 1: Navy and Memphis. It's big game American Conference, Navy and Memphis.
- 3:24Speaker 3: That's it.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Ahem in Texas should be playing tomorrow night. Just say
- 3:31Speaker 1: egg Bowl is Friday morning eleven AM Utah and Kansas
- 3:38Speaker 1: I when Nebraska. Those are eleven AM games. Georgia Georgia
- 3:45Speaker 1: Tech is a two thirty game on Friday. Let's see
- 3:54Speaker 1: Indiana produced Friday night of course most of you probably
- 3:59Speaker 1: won't be watching, that's my guess. We have full coverage
- 4:03Speaker 1: of course here on the Zone, beginning with our pregame
- 4:07Speaker 1: coverage all the way to postgame with Dusty and Louie
- 4:10Speaker 1: taking your phone calls after the game. And then Saturday,
- 4:17Speaker 1: another huge day Ohio State and Michigan, Texas, Tech, West Virginia,
- 4:23Speaker 1: Miami and pitt Houston and Baylor, Old Southwest Conference Kentucky
- 4:31Speaker 1: and Louisville Clemson in South Carolina. Remember when that used
- 4:35Speaker 1: to be a rivalry. So lots of games this weekend,
- 4:43Speaker 1: starting tomorrow evening Navy and Memphis. I don't know how
- 4:48Speaker 1: that happened. I'm not sure how all of that came about.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Not crazy about it. We will not be having shows
- 4:59Speaker 1: tomorrow or for We will be back on Monday. The
- 5:02Speaker 1: Writers Roundtable will be with us Monday. We will have
- 5:05Speaker 1: postgame react from the game Friday night. And looks like
- 5:13Speaker 1: weather's going to be good football weather way it's supposed
- 5:17Speaker 1: to be, so that's good. I don't think there'll be
- 5:20Speaker 1: any excuses from that standpoint. It'll be Uh, it's gonna
- 5:25Speaker 1: be very interesting. Not exactly sure what to expect, but
- 5:32Speaker 1: Aggie's Slight Favorites on the road. The last time they
- 5:36Speaker 1: were in Austin, that was fifteen years ago, and Cyrus
- 5:42Speaker 1: Gray ran wild over two hundred yards, So that's the
- 5:48Speaker 1: last time that happened.
- 5:51Speaker 3: In Austin the last.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And I have a checked lately. Last I checked four
- 5:58Speaker 1: hundred and something dollars was was a get in price.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I don't know if that will go up or go
- 6:03Speaker 1: down right before kickoff, So we'll see what happens with that.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And I had let me let me look real quick
- 6:13Speaker 1: because I think I have get a guest next week
- 6:22Speaker 1: that I need to mention. I'm sure of that. I
- 6:27Speaker 1: think next week is Mark Shaw. I have had him
- 6:31Speaker 1: on several times. He is the author of Abuse of Power,
- 6:39Speaker 1: connecting Robert Kennedy's assassination with the murders of JFK and
- 6:44Speaker 1: Dorothy Kilgallen, exposing who was responsible and why Sir Ann
- 6:48Speaker 1: Sir Ann deserves a new trial. Mark Shaw will join me.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I watched It's two hours I'll never get back on
- 6:58Speaker 1: Monday night. Who Killed JFK? I don't even think it
- 7:03Speaker 1: was a documentary by ABC News. I mean, I'll give
- 7:07Speaker 1: you an example. They had some guy I've never heard of.
- 7:10Speaker 1: He was an influencer talking about the assassination. Then they
- 7:16Speaker 1: had a guy who was a graphic artist who had
- 7:22Speaker 1: studied the assassination, you know, for sixty years, and he
- 7:30Speaker 1: was the guy that they used, mostly because he's convinced
- 7:35Speaker 1: that Oswald acted alone. They had a couple of ABC
- 7:40Speaker 1: News correspondents talking who weren't born yet when the assassination
- 7:46Speaker 1: took place.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I mean, it was.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I can't tell you how disappointing it was, I tweeted
- 7:54Speaker 1: out at the time. We've known for a while that journalism,
- 7:58Speaker 1: especially on the national level, is dead. This was just
- 8:04Speaker 1: it was terrible, and no conclude you know, nothing new
- 8:10Speaker 1: whatsoever under the sun.
- 8:13Speaker 5: I you know, I just.
- 8:16Speaker 3: I don't even know why they did it. I gotta
- 8:18Speaker 3: be honest with you.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I'm not sure exactly the whole purpose and point of
- 8:25Speaker 1: this two hour show. Like I said, I'll never get
- 8:28Speaker 1: that back. It was highly disappointing. You can watch it
- 8:32Speaker 1: if you want to, but you know, just all I'll
- 8:36Speaker 1: say is be be warned. Not not the best. Okay,
- 8:43Speaker 1: enough of that. Kurt Bowles is going to join me
- 8:46Speaker 1: coming up after the final lap. Brought to you by
- 8:51Speaker 1: nco Insurance.

- 9:25Speaker 7: Catherine Legg Lao Castronevez just a couple of drivers from
- 9:29Speaker 7: outside of the world of NASCAR that are now driving
- 9:34Speaker 7: because of NASCAR's approval process being loosened. Joey Logano and
- 9:39Speaker 7: other NASCAR stars, including this guy, Kyle Busch, have some
- 9:43Speaker 7: words on NASCAR's whole approval process these days.
- 9:47Speaker 8: I don't have a great answer. I feel like I've
- 9:50Speaker 8: questioned the approval process for a long long time, being
- 9:54Speaker 8: an owner in the truck series and seeing some young
- 9:57Speaker 8: drivers get opportunities at different tracks. Is my drivers that
- 10:01Speaker 8: I was trying to get them opportunities at some of
- 10:02Speaker 8: those same tracks getting denied, So I was very confused,
- 10:07Speaker 8: and probably I'm even more confused now on how it
- 10:09Speaker 8: all works. So I think it's broken. I think there's
- 10:14Speaker 8: a lot of work that could be done to make
- 10:15Speaker 8: it better. I also do feel as though it shouldn't
- 10:20Speaker 8: be suit and Ties making the decisions always. Certainly there
- 10:24Speaker 8: can be some that need to be involved, but I
- 10:26Speaker 8: do feel like there needs to be fire suits involved
- 10:29Speaker 8: in some of those decision making processes on those that
- 10:32Speaker 8: need to be approved or not approved for various activities.
- 10:37Speaker 8: And I'll even go so far to say too that
- 10:39Speaker 8: I feel the same way on driver penalties the Austin
- 10:44Speaker 8: Syndric deal. I don't think suit and Ties should be
- 10:46Speaker 8: making that. I think you should get penalized by your peers.
- 10:49Speaker 9: You are on the final app.
- 10:53Speaker 10: At Bank of America, we asked our teammates what makes

- 12:02Speaker 14: Brian, Welcome to the College Football Report with Kirk Bowles
- 12:06Speaker 14: of the Houston Chronicle and your host Chip Howard. The
- 12:10Speaker 14: College Football Report is brought to you by Brassis Homecare
- 12:14Speaker 14: and Tegler Chevrolet, Well.
- 12:19Speaker 1: The Player's Fund Center phone line with the columnists for
- 12:22Speaker 1: the Houston Chronicle Kirk Bulls, Is there any truth to
- 12:25Speaker 1: the rumor Kirk that if Arch beats Texas A and
- 12:28Speaker 1: M on Friday Night, he will be the leading Heisman
- 12:32Speaker 1: candidate Again, wo.
- 12:35Speaker 15: There you go, just kind of rub and salt the moon.
- 12:38Speaker 15: So it depends if you consider five games. The answer
- 12:42Speaker 15: probably yes, he probably would be the favor. But you know,
- 12:46Speaker 15: the Heisman people, they kind of prefer you look at
- 12:48Speaker 15: the whole season, So I think I think we'll hold
- 12:51Speaker 15: off on any legitimate Heisman talk to twenty six.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Okay, well, I'm kind of stumped right now. It's ut
- 13:00Speaker 1: as wide open as it can get, don't you think?
- 13:03Speaker 15: Yeah it is. You know, there's always a September favorite
- 13:06Speaker 15: and then that person fades. It's neavor to be you know,
- 13:10Speaker 15: heard from again. But this one is kind of The
- 13:13Speaker 15: quarterback play has been so good. You know, I can
- 13:16Speaker 15: make a case for probably eight quarterbacks to win the Heisman.
- 13:20Speaker 15: You know, none of them named dars Manning. Yeah, you know,
- 13:23Speaker 15: and I think most people put Mendoza at the top
- 13:26Speaker 15: of the list, but I think Marcel Reid's got a chance.
- 13:30Speaker 15: I think Diego Povey has got a chance. I think
- 13:33Speaker 15: Gunnar Stockton probably got a distant chance, as is Ty Simpson.
- 13:37Speaker 15: But you know, you got Dante Moore at Oregon Julian
- 13:41Speaker 15: saying what is he like? Eighty percent completion guys. So
- 13:45Speaker 15: it's been a banner year for quarterbacks not named Manning
- 13:49Speaker 15: Messmira Clublic.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, my man, my man haydes King through a pick
- 13:54Speaker 1: six Saturday and took his name out of the running.
- 13:57Speaker 15: That didn't help. That didn't help. That's a you know,
- 14:00Speaker 15: a running quarterback like him, And yeah, it's a certain
- 14:03Speaker 15: San Diego. You know, you got to be able to
- 14:05Speaker 15: avoid those, especially late in November. So who would you
- 14:08Speaker 15: vote for?
- 14:09Speaker 3: I don't know yet, I really don't.
- 14:11Speaker 14: I know.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Diego has moved up my list the last four weeks.
- 14:15Speaker 3: He's been terrific.
- 14:16Speaker 15: He is in you know, he's got a chance against
- 14:18Speaker 15: Tennessee absolutely, you know, lead them to ten and two
- 14:22Speaker 15: and maybe end of the playoffs. So yeah, I always
- 14:26Speaker 15: hate it when people, yeah, already voted. Yeah, what do
- 14:28Speaker 15: you mean had two games lest Yeah, exactly, two of
- 14:32Speaker 15: the biggest games of the year. Probably, Yeah, the heighth candidates.
- 14:36Speaker 15: So yeah, I think it's pretty wide open and somebody
- 14:40Speaker 15: could win it with you know, a dramatic finish year
- 14:43Speaker 15: at the end, you know, And I don't know if
- 14:45Speaker 15: there's anybody else. I think we're pretty clear we're not
- 14:48Speaker 15: going to have a running back, you know, unless Jeremiah
- 14:52Speaker 15: Loves sneaks in there.
- 14:53Speaker 3: So you don't you don't think he'll make the top three?
- 14:57Speaker 15: Who's that?
- 14:58Speaker 8: Love?
- 15:00Speaker 15: Probably not? I think he could. And you know, as
- 15:05Speaker 15: far as the northern candidates, if you will, they might.
- 15:09Speaker 15: They might knock each other out, yeah, you know, like
- 15:11Speaker 15: Jeremia Love and Julian saying yeah Mendoza, you know, yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 15: and you never know, and then you throw Dotte Moore
- 15:20Speaker 15: for a big ten. You know, everybody's siphon off some
- 15:24Speaker 15: votes for the others. So a lot of people might
- 15:26Speaker 15: just be waiting on these these last two games. So yeah,
- 15:29Speaker 15: to answer your question, I do think it's wide open.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Okay, So Friday night at d k R Texas Royal
- 15:38Speaker 1: Memorial Stadium, what uh what kind of game.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Do you envision?
- 15:43Speaker 15: Craziness? You know, I think it's crazy. Uh, but you know,
- 15:48Speaker 15: last year, I don't know did that go as we
- 15:51Speaker 15: thought A and hm not scoring an offensive touchdown, you know,
- 15:56Speaker 15: the whole game, and you know, getting the pick six
- 15:59Speaker 15: from quinn Ers so and that was when the Texas
- 16:02Speaker 15: defense was stout. Yeah, and they've been miserable the last
- 16:08Speaker 15: four games. So and it's almost unrecognizable. From the first
- 16:13Speaker 15: day of the season back on August thirtieth, they go
- 16:16Speaker 15: up two hundred and three yards total to Ohio State
- 16:21Speaker 15: on the road. Ohio State scores on a forty yard
- 16:24Speaker 15: bomb and they have one other drive forty five yards
- 16:29Speaker 15: and there were twenty five yards in penalties against Texas
- 16:33Speaker 15: and that was it the whole day. And it's it's
- 16:36Speaker 15: such a weird year. You go back to the Georgia
- 16:38Speaker 15: thing where Texas gets crushed on the scoreboard and it's
- 16:41Speaker 15: fourteen to ten in the fourth quarter. You know, give
- 16:46Speaker 15: Georgia scores twenty one. Vanderbilt games over. Texas looked the
- 16:50Speaker 15: best of the year the first three cords against Mandy.
- 16:53Speaker 15: Then they scored twenty one. So it's I don't know
- 16:57Speaker 15: if I can make rhyme or reason. I's start on Monday,
- 17:01Speaker 15: I said he went from dominant defense an awful offense
- 17:05Speaker 15: that they just flipped. Yeah, you know, and I asked him,
- 17:09Speaker 15: have you figured this team out? And of course he said, well,
- 17:12Speaker 15: we find a variety of ways to win the game.
- 17:14Speaker 15: But that's not always a good thing to be that
- 17:18Speaker 15: versus old resilient, because that means you've been behind the lot. Oh.
- 17:22Speaker 15: I don't know what to expect totally.
- 17:25Speaker 1: You know, it seems that since Michael taff went out,
- 17:28Speaker 1: the secondary's been lost, and he hasn't been real good
- 17:32Speaker 1: since he's come out from the injury.
- 17:34Speaker 15: No, he's been terrible too. And the way it starts
- 17:38Speaker 15: put it about the defense is that we're chasing plays.
- 17:42Speaker 3: You know, they're chasing them all over the field.
- 17:45Speaker 15: Yeah, they're they're chasing them from behind, is what they're doing. Uh,
- 17:50Speaker 15: And they're just not making plays. I don't know if
- 17:52Speaker 15: they're trying to. And this defense, the secondary has been shredded.
- 17:57Speaker 15: They play that soft zone defense, no press coverage, no
- 18:01Speaker 15: man the man coverage, and good quarterbacks in this league
- 18:05Speaker 15: just pick them apart, like like Diego and Gunner. And
- 18:08Speaker 15: I think Marcel Reed will do the same thing. I mean,
- 18:12Speaker 15: I don't know be to the level that we've seen,
- 18:14Speaker 15: you know lately in November, but you know, the average
- 18:18Speaker 15: giving up thirty five points the last four games. And
- 18:21Speaker 15: and you can say, well, playing good teams in Georgia,
- 18:25Speaker 15: in Vanderbilt, in an Arkansas offense, it's damn good. It's
- 18:30Speaker 15: their defense. It sucks, but you know, they face good
- 18:35Speaker 15: teams and good offenses, and that might be. I don't
- 18:39Speaker 15: know if that's an edge for Texas, but it's a factor.
- 18:42Speaker 15: I just you know, A and M scheduled, you play
- 18:44Speaker 15: the schedule before you that's the cliche. But then our
- 18:49Speaker 15: reward teams like A and M in Texas for Playton
- 18:52Speaker 15: Notre Dame in Ohio state Texas, you know.
- 18:56Speaker 3: But apparently apparently is not doing that.
- 19:01Speaker 15: I don't know what the CFP committees do, and I
- 19:04Speaker 15: really don't, you know. I mean, you look at Alabama.
- 19:07Speaker 15: If they lose to Auburn this weekend, they're not only
- 19:11Speaker 15: not in Atlanta for the championship game, they probably out
- 19:13Speaker 15: of the playoffs with three losses. Yeah, yeah, couldn't nonsense
- 19:18Speaker 15: to go Florida State loss. Yeah, that's like the Texas
- 19:21Speaker 15: Florida losts made no sense. So you know, it's been
- 19:25Speaker 15: a weird year. It's gonna been devoid of the big
- 19:28Speaker 15: up since they were kind of more early than late.
- 19:31Speaker 15: Just think like, oh, I don't know it. I don't
- 19:36Speaker 15: know how to pick.
- 19:37Speaker 5: This team either.
- 19:38Speaker 15: Are they A M is clearly the better team.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yes, and they're.
- 19:42Speaker 15: Playing better and have more momentum and probably have more
- 19:46Speaker 15: of state because they've never won the SEC, they haven't
- 19:49Speaker 15: been in the CFP, and they're going to be anyway.
- 19:53Speaker 15: But you know, you want to have momentum going in.
- 19:56Speaker 15: And I don't know does Elko want to buy or not?
- 19:59Speaker 1: You know, you know he was asked about that a
- 20:02Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago. I don't remember exactly the answer,
- 20:08Speaker 1: but but coaches are pretty much going to say the
- 20:11Speaker 1: same thing. Hey, we wouldn't win the championship, you know,
- 20:14Speaker 1: if we have a chance, and.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Uh, you know.
- 20:19Speaker 1: We've talked about that would be better to sit out
- 20:22Speaker 1: and have a buy and not play that game, you know,
- 20:24Speaker 1: especially especially if it's Georgia that's ends up playing in
- 20:28Speaker 1: that game.
- 20:29Speaker 3: You don't want any part of them.
- 20:31Speaker 15: No, you don't get beat up either, Yeah, really exactly.
- 20:34Speaker 15: And if if A and M were to lose Friday
- 20:37Speaker 15: night and don't go to Atlanta, you know they're still
- 20:42Speaker 15: getting in, yes, and then they'll probably be they might
- 20:46Speaker 15: be fifth or six in the.
- 20:48Speaker 3: C and host a home game, and they might host.
- 20:52Speaker 15: The Group of five. It could be A and M
- 20:54Speaker 15: hosted North Texas or too late, yeah, are hosted Texas. Yeah,
- 21:00Speaker 15: that's a possibility. You know, it really is so strange things.
- 21:07Speaker 3: So who are you picking?
- 21:10Speaker 16: You were go do this.
- 21:15Speaker 15: I'm going to pick A M by field goal?
- 21:17Speaker 3: Okay, you got I got A and M by ten
- 21:22Speaker 3: about ten?
- 21:22Speaker 15: Yeah, okay, what's your factor? Your swing factor?
- 21:28Speaker 1: You've already mentioned the fact that A and M has
- 21:30Speaker 1: been better, clearly better all year, and uh, their their offense.
- 21:35Speaker 1: There hasn't been anybody really slowed them down in conference play.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I mean, you know, they're they're scoring between thirty five
- 21:43Speaker 1: and forty points a game, and the way Texas has
- 21:48Speaker 1: played defensively, I don't see them holding them down. So
- 21:52Speaker 1: I'm looking at a game like thirty seven to twenty seven.
- 21:56Speaker 15: Okay, I've got more like thirty five seven, thirty five,
- 22:02Speaker 15: thirty two. If I'm going to go with the field goals, Okay.
- 22:06Speaker 15: I hope it's a good game. I hope it lives
- 22:07Speaker 15: up to the building. It's a good game befitting the rivalry.
- 22:11Speaker 1: We will continue with Kirk Bowles after this for Tagler,
- 22:14Speaker 1: Chevrolet and Brasis.

- 23:17Speaker 1: Kirk Bowls joins us normally on Fridays, but we've got
- 23:21Speaker 1: Thanksgiving coming up and a short week. He'll be back
- 23:23Speaker 1: next week, Kirk. I could have put so many of
- 23:26Speaker 1: these rivalry games, and we just don't have time, you know,
- 23:30Speaker 1: to talk about all of them. So I just kind
- 23:33Speaker 1: of picked a few of them.
- 23:34Speaker 14: One.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I'm's Ohio State Michigan and was the Michigan won three
- 23:39Speaker 1: years in a row?
- 23:40Speaker 3: Is that right?
- 23:41Speaker 15: It's four four years in a row. Yeah, And remember
- 23:46Speaker 15: how crazy this sport is. They wanted to fire Ryan
- 23:49Speaker 15: days absolutely after Thanksgiving, and then a month later they're
- 23:53Speaker 15: celebrating an actual championship. Ye, that's the craziness. We haven't
- 23:57Speaker 15: seen yet this year. It'll guess it'll happen in the playoffs.
- 24:01Speaker 15: But I just don't think Michigan's that good, you know.
- 24:04Speaker 15: I think Bryce worked Underwood has been okay.
- 24:07Speaker 3: I don't think they were that good last year.
- 24:10Speaker 15: No, they were also last year. I mean Textans went
- 24:14Speaker 15: to Michigan had drugged, Yeah, and that was just a
- 24:18Speaker 15: terrible Michigan off. They could not complete a pass. So
- 24:21Speaker 15: I don't know what is Jeremiah Smith and uh In Cardale,
- 24:26Speaker 15: which is that Yeah? Yeah? They sword to get Texas, right,
- 24:31Speaker 15: they've been bagged up.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Yeah they have. I expect to play tomorrow Saturday.
- 24:37Speaker 15: I just I just think Ohio State's gonna have too
- 24:40Speaker 15: much firepower for him this time. Okay, you know, and
- 24:43Speaker 15: so I would take Ohio State by ten points.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna take the buck Eyes as well. How
- 24:52Speaker 1: about Miami and.
- 24:54Speaker 15: Pitt boy is the ACC has screwed up a conference
- 24:59Speaker 15: as there?
- 25:00Speaker 1: Hey, those same Mustangs are sitting there on the CUSP
- 25:03Speaker 1: for the second year in a row.
- 25:05Speaker 15: Yeah, they're right there. And after losing the Bayer and
- 25:08Speaker 15: TCU and Wake Forest, they've kind of been a forgotten team.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I tell you what, they're playing pretty good football right now.
- 25:17Speaker 15: Yeah, they really are. I mean beat the kind of
- 25:20Speaker 15: a hobble Louisville team whose quarterback was out. But you know,
- 25:25Speaker 15: I'm gonna go with even though Pitt beat Georgia Tech,
- 25:29Speaker 15: you know, they got crushed by Notre Dame, and I
- 25:31Speaker 15: know they're hosting Miami, but I think the Hurricanes have
- 25:35Speaker 15: just quietly built their case. They've now won three and
- 25:38Speaker 15: three games in a row, all by seventeen points or more.
- 25:44Speaker 15: You know, I know SNU and I guess Virginia they're
- 25:47Speaker 15: kind of the front runner. Yeah, but get in with
- 25:50Speaker 15: a win. And I lost by SMU Virginia. But Miami's
- 25:54Speaker 15: ninety two and they're three and oh I think they
- 25:57Speaker 15: got three wins over ranked teams. So I'm gonna go
- 25:59Speaker 15: with Hurricanes of this one.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I'm going to go with the Pitt Panthers thisgo. This
- 26:04Speaker 1: is just the kind of game that Mario seems to
- 26:07Speaker 1: lose quite a bit. Plus it's November and he doesn't
- 26:10Speaker 1: win much in November.
- 26:12Speaker 15: Oh, he doesn't. That's not his favorite month.
- 26:15Speaker 3: I just I don't trust him.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I mean, if you're gonna ask me what's the most
- 26:19Speaker 1: talented team, I don't think there's any question about it.
- 26:22Speaker 3: But I just don't trust him.
- 26:25Speaker 15: I'm right there with you. But I just I don't
- 26:27Speaker 15: trust Pitt either.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I get that, I get that. Yeah, this Egg
- 26:33Speaker 3: Bowl is going to be something, isn't it.
- 26:37Speaker 15: It's going to get ratings, Oh my gosh. And if
- 26:40Speaker 15: they really want to get ratings, thank Kipen said, I'm
- 26:43Speaker 15: going to announce it.
- 26:44Speaker 3: It's the start of the fourth or at halftime or
- 26:47Speaker 3: at half time, you know.
- 26:49Speaker 15: And I just think he's done such a disservice to
- 26:52Speaker 15: the old miss program to put him through this kind
- 26:56Speaker 15: of stress and have them, you know, celebrating, you know,
- 27:01Speaker 15: guaranteed almost yeah CFP spot. And then this wonder if
- 27:06Speaker 15: the coach is going to be there even for the playoffs, right,
- 27:09Speaker 15: if he chooses to go, And who knows that Lane
- 27:11Speaker 15: Kiffin even knows what he's going to do.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sure he does.
- 27:15Speaker 15: I kind of think maybe he's staying because it would
- 27:18Speaker 15: be so cruel to just you know, make old miss
- 27:22Speaker 15: sucker like they have for the last month. I just
- 27:24Speaker 15: can't enjoy this season. So, uh, you know, I don't know.
- 27:30Speaker 15: It's the whole nation written for Mississippi State, probably not me.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I'm rooting for the fighting Lane Kiffin, So I don't
- 27:39Speaker 1: I don't know what he's gonna do. Good luck figuring
- 27:41Speaker 1: out what he's gonna do. I know he enjoys the attention.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Uh he has. He has milked it for everything that's worth.
- 27:48Speaker 15: So that's what he does. I get that. It's that
- 27:52Speaker 15: Mississippi State, is it not?
- 27:53Speaker 3: Yeah it is? Oh yeah, this this is not going
- 27:55Speaker 3: to be an easy game.
- 27:57Speaker 15: No, I'll take Mississippi State in this woman because they
- 28:00Speaker 15: can score some points.
- 28:01Speaker 1: They can score you bet, I've been back and forth
- 28:04Speaker 1: on this game. You know, you just don't know how
- 28:07Speaker 1: the Rebels are going to react to all of this stuff.
- 28:10Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean there's just more focus on the coach
- 28:14Speaker 15: and there is Ole Miss team. That's another service to
- 28:17Speaker 15: this Rebels team. My way talking about the team, there
- 28:20Speaker 15: were things about Lane.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Yep.
- 28:22Speaker 15: I just think it's very selfish for in the handles.
- 28:25Speaker 15: That's one reason I'm taking the Bulldogs.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to take Old Miss. I don't have
- 28:32Speaker 1: a reason. Ole Miss has just been better. And you know,
- 28:38Speaker 1: if if anybody can tell the players, hey, you guys,
- 28:45Speaker 1: just go out and win this game and then we'll
- 28:47Speaker 1: deal with everything else.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Maybe maybe Lane can do that. I don't know.
- 28:51Speaker 15: I think Mississippi State, May and m are the only
- 28:54Speaker 15: two teams that have gotten decidedly better. Probably Oklahoma too
- 28:59Speaker 15: in the league. Yeah, yeah, everybody else is just status quo.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Or Oklahoma has been a shocker.
- 29:06Speaker 15: They have stunned me and they're winning with half half
- 29:09Speaker 15: the ball. Yeah, but that's been enough.
- 29:12Speaker 3: A lot of time defense and special teams exactly. All right,
- 29:17Speaker 3: it's gonna be a weekend.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Kirk and I will be back next week before the
- 29:23Speaker 1: conference championship games and everything that's going on. We'll see
- 29:28Speaker 1: what happens. Kirk Bowles joins us on normally Fridays, brought

- 32:27Speaker 14: Jicklespeakles and that Peoples.
- 32:31Speaker 20: Joined Hip Powered Evenings forty six on his own.
- 32:34Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sitting here, Welcome out to Chris Wednesday.
- 32:38Speaker 3: We're gonna talk a little laggy hoops.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Coming up in the second hour, we're gonna hear from
- 32:42Speaker 1: Tony Catalina, Trev Alberts, and Jay Busby, whose book Iron
- 32:48Speaker 1: in the Blood is all about the Alabama Auburn rivalry.
- 32:51Speaker 3: You want to stay tuned for that. First, we want to.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Listen to defensive back Will Lee as he and his
- 32:58Speaker 1: teammates get ready for Friday, which.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Just kind of the feeling going into this one with
- 33:05Speaker 4: what what what all is that stake?
- 33:07Speaker 21: You know, this one we've been waiting for, you know,
- 33:09Speaker 21: since you know, SEC media Day. All the guys we've
- 33:12Speaker 21: been talking about it, you know, the questions and came up,
- 33:14Speaker 21: and it's finally here. So we're working hard to prepare
- 33:16Speaker 21: for it and we're really excited about this one.
- 33:19Speaker 22: What do you think about Texas passing game after night as.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Y'all watched it, Yeah, it's real.
- 33:25Speaker 21: They got a real nice scheme. You know, head coach
- 33:28Speaker 21: do a good job of getting the receivers open and
- 33:30Speaker 21: doing a lot of motions to get them free and
- 33:32Speaker 21: undisguised the defense. So we just got to stay in
- 33:34Speaker 21: our disguise and hopefully everything plays out perfect for us.
- 33:39Speaker 23: Pretty lessons if you learned from the game last season
- 33:41Speaker 23: and puting the build up into that game, and what
- 33:45Speaker 23: if you guys kind.
- 33:45Speaker 15: Of follow.
- 33:48Speaker 21: Oh yeah, we really just got to lean on each other,
- 33:50Speaker 21: you know what I'm saying, play four quarters worth of football,
- 33:51Speaker 21: you know, like, just not make this game such a
- 33:54Speaker 21: big special game. You know, play how we don't play
- 33:55Speaker 21: it the rest of the games, and we're gonna be
- 33:57Speaker 21: just fine.
- 33:57Speaker 4: You said you want to keep.
- 33:58Speaker 15: It the same.
- 33:59Speaker 4: But do you feel like there's a bit of intensity
- 34:00Speaker 4: that pranked up this sleep?
- 34:02Speaker 21: Yeah, this week is always intensity when we play these guys.
- 34:04Speaker 21: You know, it's really important to us to come out
- 34:06Speaker 21: and win this game. But we just got to stay
- 34:08Speaker 21: level minded and just play this game how we don't
- 34:10Speaker 21: play to every other game. We're gonna be just fine.
- 34:11Speaker 3: You feel like there's a little more beating and doubt
- 34:13Speaker 3: y'all played in the year.
- 34:15Speaker 5: Yeah, of course, Like it's all the history.
- 34:16Speaker 21: Like me being a guy from Saint Louis, I don't
- 34:18Speaker 21: know too much about it, but just with the guys
- 34:20Speaker 21: from Texas talk about and that, the guys that played here,
- 34:22Speaker 21: the coaches that played here. It's real big history with
- 34:24Speaker 21: this game. So you got to attack it with all,
- 34:26Speaker 21: with all your heart, you know, and just give it
- 34:28Speaker 21: your all. But at the same time, you got to
- 34:30Speaker 21: stay level minded and just know what comes ahead.
- 34:33Speaker 5: As you've watched.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Film, have you seen their passing game change it all
- 34:37Speaker 4: a little bit all through the season.
- 34:38Speaker 21: Yeah, they do a good job of running the same
- 34:41Speaker 21: route concept, but they get to it differently. You know,
- 34:43Speaker 21: like you'll see a lot of the same routes, but
- 34:45Speaker 21: they get to them differently, you know, with the motions
- 34:47Speaker 21: and everything like that. But you know, it's it's a
- 34:49Speaker 21: real good job when they're offensive coordinator and they're guys
- 34:51Speaker 21: of you know, developing their offense to make it supposed
- 34:53Speaker 21: to plays.
- 34:54Speaker 5: What is your big six rankum on your favorite.
- 34:57Speaker 24: Place you had?
- 34:58Speaker 21: It's definitely my favorite plaid and had. You know, just
- 35:00Speaker 21: like a big game like that and the whole outcome
- 35:02Speaker 21: of how it ended like that sucks, but you know,
- 35:04Speaker 21: just living in that moment and being a part of it.
- 35:06Speaker 21: You know, that's a big moment for me for sure.
- 35:08Speaker 25: How much said that note, how much have you guys
- 35:10Speaker 25: been kind of emphasizing trying to get more turnovers here
- 35:13Speaker 25: these last.
- 35:13Speaker 21: Few weeks, you know, just doing what we're doing, you know,
- 35:15Speaker 21: emphasize more on punching the ball out and being more
- 35:18Speaker 21: disruptive on defense. But you know, we're just gonna keep
- 35:20Speaker 21: doing what we've been doing.
- 35:21Speaker 5: Is gonna come to us for sure.
- 35:22Speaker 22: Well, if you can speak for your whole team, how
- 35:26Speaker 22: much how how important is it for you guys to
- 35:30Speaker 22: to reach the SEC Championship game because you're already in
- 35:33Speaker 22: the playoff so you already got that one for sure.
- 35:37Speaker 21: Yeah, like coach Uko said, like every game from here
- 35:39Speaker 21: like it's a it's a championship, you know, So every
- 35:42Speaker 21: game here, you know, you want to win this one
- 35:44Speaker 21: so we can get to the SEC Championship and lock
- 35:46Speaker 21: that spot in and then you know, anything beyond that,
- 35:48Speaker 21: we don't get no more chances. So you got to
- 35:50Speaker 21: take every game like this Friday as important as it
- 35:53Speaker 21: is because it's a championship on the line. So that's
- 35:55Speaker 21: how we're looking at it.
- 35:56Speaker 5: What're gonna need to you to be a part of
- 35:58Speaker 5: the team that can take teeing them to their person
- 36:00Speaker 5: that pumps.
- 36:00Speaker 21: Championship since decades ago, it would be amazing, you know,
- 36:04Speaker 21: Like me personally, like my high school career got in
- 36:06Speaker 21: this short cause of COVID, so I never got to
- 36:08Speaker 21: experience a state championship or anything like that. And so
- 36:11Speaker 21: like being a part of the SEC championship for a
- 36:13Speaker 21: long time in recreating history here at Texas and then
- 36:15Speaker 21: would be amazing.
- 36:16Speaker 5: So you have a history of playing before. So how
- 36:19Speaker 5: long did it take you to decide you hated the
- 36:21Speaker 5: Long Horns.
- 36:22Speaker 21: It just it took me the first game I played
- 36:23Speaker 21: to make Kansas State, you know, if we were so
- 36:25Speaker 21: close and then that last play at the goal line
- 36:27Speaker 21: didn't for all and come our way. So ever since then,
- 36:30Speaker 21: you know, I had a little hate built up for him.
- 36:32Speaker 4: How do you balance the.
- 36:33Speaker 25: Emotion of you know, a rivalry game, but not not
- 36:36Speaker 25: playing emotional during the game.
- 36:38Speaker 21: You know, just our preparation, you know, how we prepared
- 36:41Speaker 21: during the week. That just keeps us balance, because we
- 36:43Speaker 21: know what we're finna do. We know what we're finna get,
- 36:45Speaker 21: so we're prepared for it. So we don't really got
- 36:47Speaker 21: to tie into all the little details, and we just
- 36:48Speaker 21: got to key into all the stuff that we know,
- 36:50Speaker 21: So all the little rivalries hit or chat, we're just
- 36:53Speaker 21: not gonna worry about it and do what we need
- 36:55Speaker 21: to do.
- 36:55Speaker 4: Do you feel like this team's good at checking its
- 36:57Speaker 4: emotions during the.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Game, Yeah, of course.
- 36:59Speaker 21: You know a lot of our guys, you know, we
- 37:00Speaker 21: really didn't bought into together and understood like what's bigger
- 37:03Speaker 21: ahead of us. You know, like all that little stuff
- 37:05Speaker 21: in the game at that moment could really cost us
- 37:07Speaker 21: in the end. So our whole goal is to play
- 37:08Speaker 21: four quarters and just worry about what we need to do.
- 37:11Speaker 5: You talked about.
- 37:13Speaker 18: Earlier about how like the mantra was finished to be
- 37:15Speaker 18: one final game in the regular season, everything is still obtainable,
- 37:18Speaker 18: and just what's that say about you guys?
- 37:19Speaker 5: Just effort this year and just the focus.
- 37:21Speaker 21: It's really just giving it our all, you know what
- 37:22Speaker 21: I'm saying, Like, we know what this game has in
- 37:25Speaker 21: front of us, and we know all the championships that's
- 37:28Speaker 21: ahead of us, So we really just got to focus
- 37:30Speaker 21: on this one, do what we need to do, and
- 37:31Speaker 21: then it's gonna fall in our hands.
- 37:33Speaker 5: Ahuys.
- 37:34Speaker 23: Armandre stepped up being a first time captain and focus team.
- 37:39Speaker 21: Uh yeah, you know, I've been knew he was a leader,
- 37:41Speaker 21: you know, since our little rivalry when he was at
- 37:42Speaker 21: Kansas and I was at Kansas State. So him being
- 37:45Speaker 21: on that old line and him leading those guys, always
- 37:47Speaker 21: knew he had it in him. And just how he
- 37:48Speaker 21: carries himself in the locker room is really big. You know,
- 37:51Speaker 21: like he's always loose. He's never that guy that's gonna
- 37:53Speaker 21: be uptight and just be uncomfortable. He's real comfortable and
- 37:56Speaker 21: makes everybody else comfortable. So like he's a great person
- 37:58Speaker 21: to have on your team.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Is it a little weird the first time you saw
- 38:01Speaker 4: him in this building realizing y'all were on the same side.
- 38:03Speaker 21: Now, No, I wasn't that weird, But I talked.
- 38:06Speaker 4: I talk about it every day.
- 38:07Speaker 21: You know what I'm saying that we beat him when
- 38:09Speaker 21: we played at Kansas State and he was at Kansas,
- 38:11Speaker 21: and I make sure he remembers it every time. So Nah,
- 38:13Speaker 21: it's not weird at all.
- 38:14Speaker 14: You know.
- 38:14Speaker 4: The fans like the chair, What does it do to
- 38:16Speaker 4: the locker room?
- 38:18Speaker 21: Oh it's amazing, you know, Like that chair has been
- 38:20Speaker 21: through a lot. We didn't have zip tides put on it.
- 38:22Speaker 21: I don't even know if it's the same chair. They
- 38:24Speaker 21: done taped it. Everything that chair been through a lot,
- 38:26Speaker 21: and just seeing a majat carried around it's a good
- 38:28Speaker 21: feeling and good excitement to the team.
- 38:30Speaker 1: How much conversation has there been for people like you
- 38:32Speaker 1: said not from Texas or weren't in this game last
- 38:34Speaker 1: year to kind of lock in and tell them the
- 38:36Speaker 1: importance of this one.
- 38:37Speaker 21: Oh, it's really about just being the togetherness as a team.
- 38:39Speaker 21: You know, like if you care about the man next
- 38:41Speaker 21: to you and he's from Texas and you care about
- 38:43Speaker 21: the history of the program, you know how big this
- 38:45Speaker 21: game is. So you know, everybody's tied in together as
- 38:47Speaker 21: a team and as a family, so everybody knows this
- 38:49Speaker 21: is a big one.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Is that the chairs starting to run out of space
- 38:52Speaker 4: and fell the stickers on you? Y'all got room for
- 38:54Speaker 4: one more?
- 38:54Speaker 21: Yeah, we definitely got room for one more. And I
- 38:56Speaker 21: know exactly where that spot's gonna be at.
- 38:58Speaker 23: So yeah, remember we talked about kind of the disrespect
- 39:02Speaker 23: y'all fell, about the Texas eight four jokes and all
- 39:06Speaker 23: the predictions that it kind of kept y'all at eight
- 39:09Speaker 23: wins or something help indicating as it fell to just
- 39:13Speaker 23: crush those expectations and kind of.
- 39:15Speaker 15: Prove a lot of people wrong this year.
- 39:17Speaker 21: Yeah, we're not shocked. You know, the guys here that's
- 39:18Speaker 21: been putting in the work since the summer and then
- 39:20Speaker 21: since the ending of last year. We all knew what
- 39:22Speaker 21: we was capable of doing. But now it's just like
- 39:25Speaker 21: that whole aspect of finishing, you know, like we're not
- 39:28Speaker 21: really thinking about being eleven and zero at this point.
- 39:30Speaker 21: We're just trying to be one to oh and we're
- 39:32Speaker 21: gonna be one to know Friday, and we're gonna get
- 39:34Speaker 21: it done. What is it about this team that you
- 39:36Speaker 21: guys have played so well on the road for the
- 39:37Speaker 21: most part, Uh, you know, just you know, like the togetherness.
- 39:40Speaker 21: You know, everybody stayed together and everybody's been, you know,
- 39:44Speaker 21: picking each other up. Nobody's been looking at one side
- 39:47Speaker 21: of the ball the other side the ball and blaming
- 39:48Speaker 21: each other. Everybody's picking each other up and we're leaning
- 39:50Speaker 21: on each other to make plays. So when you get
- 39:52Speaker 21: that in the locker room at halftime and stuff like that,
- 39:54Speaker 21: you shouldn't be surprised when we come out and execute well, So.
- 40:01Speaker 26: Was there a moment when you were like, oh, yeah.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I understand that what this Yeah.
- 40:05Speaker 21: Definitely like uh with coach Peterson, my dB coach, you know,
- 40:08Speaker 21: he really sat in the cornerback room where we played
- 40:11Speaker 21: him last year and broke down how important this game
- 40:13Speaker 21: is in the history behind it. So just playing in
- 40:16Speaker 21: it and hearing him talk about it really gave like
- 40:18Speaker 21: the passion of how good this game is and how
- 40:20Speaker 21: we need to execute and succeed on our end.
- 40:22Speaker 25: We were maybe some of the stories that he told
- 40:24Speaker 25: you about his time playing in the robbery it ain't now.
- 40:26Speaker 21: Uh really, we talked about it today. Really, just like
- 40:28Speaker 21: how he had a bitter taste in his mouth when
- 40:30Speaker 21: he was a GA here. I think it was twenty
- 40:33Speaker 21: eleven when Justin Tucker made the field goal. So like
- 40:36Speaker 21: he know, he told me about how he felt like
- 40:38Speaker 21: it was an iffy late hit call that led up
- 40:40Speaker 21: to the field goal and everything like that, and he
- 40:42Speaker 21: just like, ever since then he had a bitter taste
- 40:44Speaker 21: in his mouth. And then last year us not coming
- 40:46Speaker 21: out with the uh, you know, the win that we wanted.
- 40:48Speaker 21: So you know, ever since then, it's like I kind
- 40:50Speaker 21: of feel for him and I wanna bring this way
- 40:53Speaker 21: home for him.
- 40:53Speaker 9: Honestly, there any tmates.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Who've been extra vocal this week about what it beats to.
- 40:57Speaker 21: Time, Uh, Honestly, a lot of the guys here we're
- 40:59Speaker 21: just we're not really overdoing it, you know, We're just
- 41:01Speaker 21: taking it as another game and we got to do
- 41:02Speaker 21: what we're supposed to do and we're gonna get the
- 41:04Speaker 21: outcome we want. So a lot of guys it's just
- 41:06Speaker 21: really regular, like a regular practice. We're not overemphasizing anything.
- 41:09Speaker 21: We're just doing what we need to do and we're
- 41:11Speaker 21: gonna get the outcome.
- 41:13Speaker 23: How do you think Dalton has elevated this secondary and
- 41:16Speaker 23: what is leftic kind of just seems like he makes.
- 41:18Speaker 21: A big play every game though, Yeah, that's Dalton Brooks.
- 41:21Speaker 21: You know, I've never been shocked by it, Like it
- 41:22Speaker 21: happens every day of practice. And I just feel like
- 41:25Speaker 21: us being in this scheme second year is just he's
- 41:28Speaker 21: more comfortable and like he's seeing everything perfectly, like you know,
- 41:31Speaker 21: he's getting his reads right and then he's trusting it.
- 41:33Speaker 21: So that's all it really is, just being comfortable in
- 41:35Speaker 21: the scheme and trusting what you see. So and that's
- 41:37Speaker 21: how he comes down with plays and you know that's Dalton,
- 41:39Speaker 21: so that's nothing surprising to me.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Has he got a nick name yet?
- 41:44Speaker 21: Nah, they haven't gave Dalton nickname yet. He really a
- 41:46Speaker 21: quiet guy, honestly. So I'm gonna give him one after
- 41:49Speaker 21: we win this one Friday, I'm gonna give him one
- 41:51Speaker 21: for sure.
- 41:57Speaker 27: So you didn't see the trader other car fence and
- 42:04Speaker 27: now your vehicle needs bodywork, so you need Oscar and

- 42:29Speaker 28: Continue to gear up for the divisional showdown on the
- 42:32Speaker 28: road against the Colts this Sunday, Executive vice president and
- 42:35Speaker 28: general manager Nick Cassario spoke on the Texans All Access Show,
- 42:39Speaker 28: discussing the progress he's seen the team make over.
- 42:42Speaker 20: The last several weeks, as well as the outlook moving forward.
- 42:45Speaker 9: Think overall, you're just looking for your team. Whatever is
- 42:48Speaker 9: going on in that particular year for gradual improvement. At
- 42:52Speaker 9: the end of the year, you go back and you
- 42:53Speaker 9: kind of evaluate what are your strengths, what do your
- 42:55Speaker 9: weakness is, What do you have to improve? Is a
- 42:57Speaker 9: personnel related thing, is a scheme related thing, So all
- 43:00Speaker 9: those things go into the calculus.
- 43:03Speaker 20: As for the Texans injury updates, quarterbacks c J. Stroud
- 43:06Speaker 20: and safety jail In Peatree both remain in concussion protocol.
- 43:10Speaker 20: The hope remains for both players to be able to
- 43:12Speaker 20: go on Sunday against the Colts, but until the players
- 43:15Speaker 20: are able to pass the protocol, the status remains uncertain.
- 43:19Speaker 20: The Texans first official injury report will be released later
- 43:22Speaker 20: today with Houston Texans Report. I'm Jake Reepma.

- 46:05Speaker 5: Welcome back.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Glad to have you with us on this afternoon before Thanksgiving.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Coming up in the second hour, we're gonna hear a
- 46:12Speaker 1: little bit more from athletic director trev Alberts. Tony Catalina
- 46:17Speaker 1: is going to join me, and I'm going to be
- 46:18Speaker 1: joined by author J Busby and his book Iron in
- 46:21Speaker 1: the Blood on the Auburn Alabama rivalry last night at
- 46:26Speaker 1: Reed Arena. Kind of what you expected when you're playing
- 46:32Speaker 1: the statistically worst team in college basketball one twenty to
- 46:38Speaker 1: eighty four. Read Arena scoring record one two, three, four five,
- 46:46Speaker 1: Six Aggie players in double figures in that game. Took
- 46:52Speaker 1: thirty four threes, made fifty no attempted fifty free throws
- 47:00Speaker 1: forty two of fifty. That's pretty good when you think
- 47:04Speaker 1: about it. Mackenzie and Baco played extended minutes and had
- 47:09Speaker 1: nineteen points to lead all the scores. That was good
- 47:11Speaker 1: to see. Pop Isaacs was back in the game. Rashaun
- 47:18Speaker 1: Agy was not had a eye problem. So we're going
- 47:22Speaker 1: to hear from Bucky postgame, and then right after Bucky,
- 47:28Speaker 1: we're going to hear from McKenzie and Baco, and we're
- 47:32Speaker 1: also going to hear from Zach Clementz. He had a
- 47:35Speaker 1: good game with fifteen points, three out of four from threes.
- 47:37Speaker 1: So again, first Bucky postgame from last night, and then
- 47:44Speaker 1: mackenzie and Bacco and Zach Clementz and remember A and
- 47:48Speaker 1: M on the road. They played Florida State at four
- 47:52Speaker 1: o'clock Friday afternoon. A little warm up preview for you
- 47:56Speaker 1: for the football game.
- 48:00Speaker 26: Some positives in the game. I don't know what the
- 48:02Speaker 26: record is for getting the free throw line. We shot
- 48:03Speaker 26: fifty free throws. That's probably pretty good. Shot the ball good,
- 48:07Speaker 26: especially the second half from three sixteen to thirty four. Uh,
- 48:10Speaker 26: some of those things were great. We passed the ball
- 48:12Speaker 26: better the second half first half. You know, I think
- 48:14Speaker 26: it's pretty evident what we got going on. The guys
- 48:17Speaker 26: who had been able to player of practice with Mac
- 48:19Speaker 26: and Pop, we don't. We don't have the chemistry with
- 48:21Speaker 26: those guys on the floor yet. Not their fault, not
- 48:24Speaker 26: the team's fault, no one's fault. It's got to get
- 48:26Speaker 26: more experience with those guys out there, or just a chemistry.
- 48:28Speaker 26: Something's off, you know, he says, Pop, those that one
- 48:31Speaker 26: out of bounds, Mag didn't know all the plays getting
- 48:34Speaker 26: caught up and nobody's fault. That's just it's gonna take
- 48:39Speaker 26: time with those guys back in the mix, obviously talented players,
- 48:41Speaker 26: but we gotta we got to get them caught up
- 48:43Speaker 26: and the other players caught up playing with them, and
- 48:45Speaker 26: we got to do it in a short, short time frame.
- 48:47Speaker 26: So that was good for some turnovers. Not a lot
- 48:50Speaker 26: else to say, guys, So whatever you got, hit me
- 48:53Speaker 26: with it.
- 48:54Speaker 25: A couple of strong offensive performances these last couple of games.
- 48:57Speaker 25: Just how do you guys maybe keep that rolling as
- 48:59Speaker 25: you had play Florida State on Friday and step.
- 49:02Speaker 4: Up in competition.
- 49:03Speaker 26: Yeah, you know, I mean some of these baskets were
- 49:05Speaker 26: getting our good some some are not as real. I mean,
- 49:08Speaker 26: we're gonna have to continue to share the ball to
- 49:09Speaker 26: get good baskets. We're gonna play three really good teams
- 49:11Speaker 26: on defense where the covers is gonna be pretty tight.
- 49:14Speaker 26: We got to find out for these guys, I hadn't
- 49:16Speaker 26: been here to get them on the same page quick
- 49:18Speaker 26: because it's hard.
- 49:18Speaker 5: Because we it's hard.
- 49:20Speaker 26: We can't play call right now because not everybody knows
- 49:22Speaker 26: what's going on out of position, and it's pretty frustrating.
- 49:25Speaker 26: It'll be the first to tell you, and I wouldn't
- 49:27Speaker 26: say that, you know, be that coach. You know, in
- 49:28Speaker 26: a forty point win, I can say that pretty frustrating
- 49:31Speaker 26: because we're very limited with what we can do just
- 49:33Speaker 26: because of the reps. But we're gonna have to figure
- 49:35Speaker 26: some things out quickly because we're gonna have to be
- 49:36Speaker 26: able to run some stuff when we get down there.
- 49:39Speaker 4: Kindsey had an extended run. Just what would you see
- 49:41Speaker 4: for maybe his pain level that he had tonight and
- 49:43Speaker 4: just the way he played.
- 49:44Speaker 26: You know, anytime you sit out and you come back
- 49:47Speaker 26: and you're able to, you know, make all your free throws,
- 49:50Speaker 26: shoot fifty percent for three, five or nine from the field.
- 49:53Speaker 26: Scored it pretty well. Obviously, that's a great That's that's great.
- 49:58Speaker 26: He's you know, all about winning. He he's all about
- 50:00Speaker 26: wanting to be out there and help the team. Just
- 50:03Speaker 26: gotta get him caught up on what on everything's going
- 50:05Speaker 26: on and and good, like I said, don't mean to
- 50:09Speaker 26: be that broken record and get the other guys caught
- 50:11Speaker 26: up playing with him.
- 50:12Speaker 4: Yeah, how's Rashaan do? And I know you got taken
- 50:15Speaker 4: out of there pretty reach.
- 50:16Speaker 26: Yeah, he's fine, he'll be good next game. I'm hoping
- 50:19Speaker 26: that Roland will be back in good next game. We
- 50:21Speaker 26: need him. You could tell where our flows off with
- 50:22Speaker 26: Roland out of the game there too. You know, he's
- 50:24Speaker 26: a really good player, really good pass or Forrest got
- 50:27Speaker 26: the flu right now, so trying to recover from that.
- 50:29Speaker 26: Got it on Saturday, says he gets every year usually
- 50:32Speaker 26: five or six days, so hopefully he can come back
- 50:34Speaker 26: and be fresh versus really good Florida State team.
- 50:37Speaker 4: Marcus is plus thirty nine and Jakaria's plus thirty six.
- 50:40Speaker 4: What do you see from you to starting guards today?
- 50:42Speaker 26: Well, I destroyed these guys in practice, you know. I mean,
- 50:46Speaker 26: we knew in this game, even being shorthanded, it we
- 50:50Speaker 26: played reasonably well that the win loss was not going
- 50:54Speaker 26: to be in serious jeopardy. So I mean I really
- 50:57Speaker 26: worked him hard the past couple of days in practice,
- 50:59Speaker 26: and I mean we went really Sunday, so I knew
- 51:01Speaker 26: we wouldn't be totally fresh. But Marcus never gets tired.
- 51:05Speaker 26: You could tell the other guys were pretty dang tired
- 51:07Speaker 26: in the game from the start, and that I would
- 51:09Speaker 26: say so on me. But I was okay with that
- 51:11Speaker 26: because we had to get some our practice. But Marcus
- 51:13Speaker 26: practice is so hard that he was one of the
- 51:14Speaker 26: guys that had legs and he had energy and he
- 51:16Speaker 26: was fresh. And that's what I told him. Marcus may
- 51:17Speaker 26: make some mental mistakes, one thing I'm always gonna get
- 51:20Speaker 26: when I put marks in the game, I know he's
- 51:21Speaker 26: gonna give everything he's got and he's not gonna get tired,
- 51:24Speaker 26: What do.
- 51:24Speaker 4: You know about Florida State? And just how critical is
- 51:26Speaker 4: these decks?
- 51:27Speaker 25: Maybe a couple of weeks kind of looking long term
- 51:29Speaker 25: for where you guys hope together the rest.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Of the season.
- 51:31Speaker 26: I mean, you say it's every game's critical, you know that,
- 51:35Speaker 26: But we just got to put our best foot forward.
- 51:40Speaker 26: I mean, look, you got to be playing your best
- 51:42Speaker 26: basketball throughout the year. I you're gonna tell me we're
- 51:44Speaker 26: gonna be, but we want to win these games. I
- 51:46Speaker 26: don't want to say anything other than that. To do that,
- 51:48Speaker 26: we got to play good basketball. So what we got
- 51:49Speaker 26: to do is focus on playing good basketball. Now, if
- 51:52Speaker 26: you're gonna tell me, hey, are we gonna play our
- 51:53Speaker 26: best basketball the season when Ryland's been out sick, Mack
- 51:56Speaker 26: hadn't really practiced at all, Pop hasn't practiced in the
- 51:59Speaker 26: SEC and then we're goll throw all those guys in
- 52:02Speaker 26: the mixed, sprinkle it in and just we're playing great basketball.
- 52:06Speaker 26: This is not how basketball works. It's just not that
- 52:08Speaker 26: kind of game. So we're not gonna play our best
- 52:12Speaker 26: basketway the way critical games in terms of uh, because
- 52:15Speaker 26: they're you know, be great wins. But you know, we
- 52:19Speaker 26: got to be playing our best basketball, and there's some
- 52:21Speaker 26: things out of our control, but we got to do
- 52:23Speaker 26: with the things that are in our control as well
- 52:25Speaker 26: as possible.
- 52:26Speaker 9: Down there.
- 52:26Speaker 4: Yeah, fourteen guys played tonight sixty six bench points.
- 52:31Speaker 26: You learn anything about your de ton well, you know,
- 52:33Speaker 26: we had the deal, like I think you saw there
- 52:35Speaker 26: up about forty some points we could have. We knew
- 52:37Speaker 26: they're just put they're gonna put their head down there
- 52:38Speaker 26: and race it to the basket and make the Reughmaker call.
- 52:41Speaker 26: We knew they're gonna try to throw it deep and
- 52:43Speaker 26: just go nothing to lose. We could have the option
- 52:46Speaker 26: just bring pull everybody back and just kind of get
- 52:48Speaker 26: the game over with us in the two three zone,
- 52:50Speaker 26: and we kind of would have got the game over
- 52:51Speaker 26: with But and we're sitting on the side, we're talking
- 52:53Speaker 26: about it, like, you know what if we get an
- 52:55Speaker 26: injury or two and Chris needs to be in in
- 52:57Speaker 26: these spots, are are Jamie to be guarding somebody in
- 53:00Speaker 26: the full court because we're down. So we said, let's
- 53:04Speaker 26: just try to make the most of it and let's
- 53:06Speaker 26: keep doing what we do and we're gonna put them
- 53:07Speaker 26: in some uncomfortable spots and knowing it wasn't gonna probably
- 53:11Speaker 26: work out, but we kept doing what we did. What
- 53:14Speaker 26: we did so they hopefully were improving or the things
- 53:17Speaker 26: we made mistakes with. And you you play all those guys,
- 53:21Speaker 26: you're doing that. So if you do have an injury,
- 53:22Speaker 26: they got to stake in that they're comfortable they've done
- 53:24Speaker 26: it and they played how you played, and so hopefully
- 53:28Speaker 26: we're improving or the things we made mistakes with, and
- 53:31Speaker 26: you know, you play all those guys, you're doing that.
- 53:33Speaker 26: So if you do have an injury, they got a
- 53:34Speaker 26: stake in that they're comfortable they've done it, and they
- 53:36Speaker 26: played how you played, and so hopefully hopefully I'll pay
- 53:40Speaker 26: off at some point.
- 53:43Speaker 25: Got a little bit more of an extended run to night.
- 53:45Speaker 25: Just how are you feeling physically and just kind of
- 53:47Speaker 25: what was working for you on the court.
- 53:49Speaker 29: Yeah, I mean I feel good to be back up
- 53:50Speaker 29: there with my boys. Uh felt good, you know, first
- 53:54Speaker 29: real game back, you know, first game I had like
- 53:55Speaker 29: three minutes. So the getting back out there doing I
- 53:58Speaker 29: can to contribute to the team, it's what really mad.
- 54:04Speaker 5: Zack.
- 54:05Speaker 4: You guys have scored one hundred points in back to
- 54:06Speaker 4: back games.
- 54:07Speaker 25: Just what do you feel like is maybe clicking for
- 54:09Speaker 25: you guys right now. And how do y'all carry this forward?
- 54:12Speaker 25: Stepping up in competition on Friday against Florida State.
- 54:15Speaker 30: I mean it's a branding team. I think we're just
- 54:17Speaker 30: messing every day. I mean, we all put into work,
- 54:21Speaker 30: so I mean, just as the season goes on, we'll
- 54:23Speaker 30: just get better.
- 54:25Speaker 5: I don't know if you.
- 54:25Speaker 21: Guys are aware of those the most points I've scored
- 54:27Speaker 21: in ried arena, and you guys talk about how it's
- 54:30Speaker 21: just new mess.
- 54:31Speaker 4: If this is a discratching the surface, how dangerous can
- 54:33Speaker 4: you guys be?
- 54:34Speaker 29: Yeah, we can most definitely up it, you know, the
- 54:37Speaker 29: continuity and the flow of our offense, and then really
- 54:40Speaker 29: understand our press, our press defense. We gotta get better
- 54:42Speaker 29: at that and limiting how many points are opponents scored
- 54:46Speaker 29: to increase our offense hive buckets.
- 54:48Speaker 5: So, I mean it's early, but we got a lot
- 54:50Speaker 5: to learn. We gonna get there for sure.
- 54:54Speaker 25: You guys have a key stretch coming up with some
- 54:56Speaker 25: Power Conference opponents. Just how critical is maybe the next
- 55:00Speaker 25: or two for you guys kind of the long term
- 55:02Speaker 25: for what it could do the rest of the season.
- 55:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it's very critical. I mean It's it's very mental
- 55:07Speaker 5: right now.
- 55:07Speaker 29: You gotta stay locked in mentally and make sure we're
- 55:09Speaker 29: on our piece and cues a practice Uh happen to
- 55:12Speaker 29: leaders talking lead the right way, uh, and making sure
- 55:15Speaker 29: that we doing what we gotta do off the court,
- 55:17Speaker 29: get our bodies right and you know, on the court,
- 55:20Speaker 29: stay focused on our plays uh to os.
- 55:23Speaker 5: You know how many times we have.
- 55:24Speaker 29: We gotta clean that up and then make sure we
- 55:26Speaker 29: crashing and doing the right things and tangible that's gonna
- 55:29Speaker 29: lead us.
- 55:30Speaker 5: To the win on the church down the l uh down,
- 55:32Speaker 5: leading the road.
- 55:34Speaker 4: Take four for six from the field, four for five
- 55:36Speaker 4: from three point range.
- 55:37Speaker 5: How'd you feel today? What was kind of working where
- 55:40Speaker 5: you're there?
- 55:40Speaker 15: Uh?
- 55:41Speaker 5: It was good.
- 55:44Speaker 30: Yeah, it was just a good game. I mean, we're
- 55:46Speaker 30: all gonna have them. Uh, but it's you know, it
- 55:50Speaker 30: was my I had a good night, Mac had a
- 55:51Speaker 30: good night. A bunch of people had a good night.
- 55:53Speaker 30: So it's good to see. But yeah, and you know,
- 55:59Speaker 30: either do.
- 55:59Speaker 4: You guys know anything about Florida State yet at all?
- 56:03Speaker 4: What you mean, like, what do y'all know anything about
- 56:06Speaker 4: Florida State?
- 56:06Speaker 25: The team you're gonna be playing next Sorry, we're not
- 56:08Speaker 25: gonna get to talk to you before that came.
- 56:10Speaker 5: Yeah, you're going to get a que That's what the matter.
