- 0:00Speaker 1: Fly from Midtown Manhattan. Here comes the Mark Simone Show
- 0:05Speaker 1: on seven to ten.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Wr Hey, it's a Thursday. We got a lot to
- 0:11Speaker 2: get to, big, big, big deal in the peace deal
- 0:14Speaker 2: in the Mideast. We'll get to that, the Nobel Prize,
- 0:18Speaker 2: We'll get to the Yankees, We'll get to the stock market.
- 0:22Speaker 2: We'll get to the New Jersey debate. Last night, people
- 0:24Speaker 2: think Mikey Cheryl has seen some real trouble in the
- 0:28Speaker 2: internal polls. She seemed to change her tone and change
- 0:32Speaker 2: a lot of stuff for last night's debate. And the
- 0:35Speaker 2: same thing for Cuomo. He's getting desperate. There was a
- 0:38Speaker 2: major shocking flip flop from Cuomo. We'll get to that
- 0:43Speaker 2: coming up. And well, let's start with Israel the Middle East.
- 0:48Speaker 2: The peace deal looks like it's done. It looks like
- 0:52Speaker 2: it'll get signed over the weekend. President Trump planning to
- 0:56Speaker 2: go to Egypt to sign this bill.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I may go there sometime towards the end of the week,
- 1:04Speaker 3: maybe on Sunday actually, and we'll see. But there's a
- 1:09Speaker 3: very good chance to Negotiations are going along very well.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It looks like it's done. Hamas will release the hostages.
- 1:18Speaker 2: They'll start with the living hostages, believed to be about twenty.
- 1:22Speaker 2: They'll release them immediately. They'll release the remaining hostages, the
- 1:26Speaker 2: bodies of the other hostages. Israel's going to give up
- 1:29Speaker 2: something like nineteen hundred prisoners. All right, that's not great,
- 1:32Speaker 2: but you got to do that. The deal looks pretty good.
- 1:36Speaker 2: President Trump. Tomorrow's Friday, he goes to get his annual
- 1:39Speaker 2: physical Walter Reed Medical Center, and then after that is
- 1:43Speaker 2: expected to head to the Middle East Saturday or Sunday.
- 1:48Speaker 2: It's an amazing accomplishment. It's certainly worthy of a Nobel Prize.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Even in Gaza. Even in Gaza they're cheering him on
- 1:55Speaker 2: the streets of Gaza and screaming Nobel Prize for Trump
- 2:00Speaker 2: can't get it because the Nobel Prize is a totally
- 2:02Speaker 2: corrupt award. It's the most slanted partisan, a left wing
- 2:07Speaker 2: liberal award. If you look at the list of who
- 2:10Speaker 2: was denied a Nobel Prize, it's amazing, from Gandhi to
- 2:14Speaker 2: all sorts of people. But if you go to the
- 2:16Speaker 2: Nobel Prize for literature, some of the greatest figures in
- 2:21Speaker 2: literature were denied the Nobel Prize, from Mark Twain to Tolstoy,
- 2:24Speaker 2: to It's an endless list, and it was always because
- 2:27Speaker 2: they weren't they weren't liberal enough, they didn't like their politics.
- 2:32Speaker 2: It's the most political award in the world, and the
- 2:35Speaker 2: most fascinating thing about it is to this day the
- 2:38Speaker 2: Nobel Prize has this incredible reputation, totally undeserved. It's just
- 2:44Speaker 2: a wacky partisan award, yet they still have this prestige
- 2:49Speaker 2: the Nobel Prize. You know, the worst economist in the
- 2:54Speaker 2: history of the world was Paul Krugman the New York Times,
- 2:57Speaker 2: that bug eyed weirdo who got everything wrong. Every prediction, forecast,
- 3:02Speaker 2: everything he ever wrote turned out to be totally wrong.
- 3:05Speaker 2: He has the Nobel Prize for economics. So you remember
- 3:08Speaker 2: when they were trying to go after Trump and they
- 3:10Speaker 2: put out a letter from this signed by thirteen Nobel
- 3:14Speaker 2: Prize winners. Well, right there, you knew it was a
- 3:17Speaker 2: slanted partisan the word. Yet somehow, you know, a lot
- 3:21Speaker 2: of people's minds, it has this prestigious reputation. So the
- 3:24Speaker 2: Nobel Prize comes out tomorrow. There's no chance of Trump
- 3:27Speaker 2: getting it because he's not left wing wacko. Also, I
- 3:32Speaker 2: would assume it's coming out tomorrow. This was decided long ago.
- 3:36Speaker 2: They're not picking the winner tonight. So it comes out tonight.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Tomorrow will be the announcement. It means absolutely nothing. It's
- 3:42Speaker 2: the silliest towards but the Israel peace Deal unbelievable. And
- 3:48Speaker 2: you know when you talk about the art of the deal,
- 3:50Speaker 2: and sometimes Democrats will say, well, where's the great negotiator? Well,
- 3:53Speaker 2: here it was, Here it was, and there's nobody savvier
- 3:57Speaker 2: at this stuff, and Benjamin Netanyahu gets somehow Trump got
- 4:01Speaker 2: leverage over net and Yahoo and strategically carefully over the
- 4:06Speaker 2: last few weeks and months, somehow it kind of boxed
- 4:08Speaker 2: him in a little, so he went along with this.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Sometimes it's just luck in some of these deals. But
- 4:14Speaker 2: even Democrats looking at this privately saying this was all skill,
- 4:17Speaker 2: not luck, And a lot of credit goes to Jared Kushner,
- 4:23Speaker 2: normally useless when it comes to the White House, but here,
- 4:26Speaker 2: this is what he was meant to do. This is
- 4:28Speaker 2: where he excelled. Steve Whitkoff the same, and Trump pointing
- 4:31Speaker 2: out Mike Huckabee was a big, big part of this process.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Hu could be the ambassador to Israel. You wouldn't think
- 4:39Speaker 2: he would be so Israel savvy, but he's spent a
- 4:42Speaker 2: lot of time there over the years. It's something that
- 4:45Speaker 2: means a lot to him. So he was great at this.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So that will that will happen most likely over the
- 4:51Speaker 2: weekend hostages. First release of the release of all the
- 4:53Speaker 2: living hostages expected on Monday. So you got this fat
- 4:59Speaker 2: slob governor of the Illinois Pritzker, This Ralph Cramdon looking guy,
- 5:05Speaker 2: huffing and puffing. What it's all about? Really, he wants
- 5:08Speaker 2: to be a twenty twenty eight candidate. He has no
- 5:10Speaker 2: shot at all because he has no personality, nothing, nothing
- 5:17Speaker 2: interesting about him. He's kind of a troll like to
- 5:20Speaker 2: look at. So he's got no shot at all, especially
- 5:24Speaker 2: against a Gavin Newsom or other slick, smart candidates with personality.
- 5:28Speaker 2: He's got no shot at all. But he's trying to
- 5:30Speaker 2: get there, and he thinks by being the biggest Trump
- 5:34Speaker 2: fighter in the world. He's a little nutty when he
- 5:36Speaker 2: gets into Trump fighting. Remember the convention. He got up
- 5:40Speaker 2: there and he said he opened with and he got
- 5:42Speaker 2: huge applause. He said he's going to talk about Trump.
- 5:45Speaker 2: He said, time out of here from a real billionaire,
- 5:48Speaker 2: and the audience applauded, implying Trump's not a real billionaire. Well,
- 5:53Speaker 2: at the time, Pritzker worth about one billion, Trump worth
- 5:55Speaker 2: about seven billions. I don't know what the hell he's
- 5:57Speaker 2: talking about. And then here he is yesterday. But he
- 6:01Speaker 2: just doesn't want He wants to keep that crime in Chicago.
- 6:05Speaker 2: There's a lot of killing. It's a killing field. Thirty
- 6:07Speaker 2: five forty people shot every weekend in Chicago. He wants
- 6:12Speaker 2: to keep it that way. He's demented, literally unhinged.
- 6:16Speaker 4: And this is somebody who's so insecure that he lashes out.
- 6:20Speaker 5: Pretending that he can come arrest people for no reason
- 6:23Speaker 5: at all.
- 6:24Speaker 2: He can't.
- 6:25Speaker 6: He isn't going to do it.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Taco Trump always chickens out. It's back to taco. I
- 6:31Speaker 2: think I think that's kind of been proven wrong. Now
- 6:35Speaker 2: Pritzker keeps arguing, you cannot send troops national Guard or military.
- 6:41Speaker 2: You can't send troops into an American city state. The
- 6:44Speaker 2: federal government can never do that. And if they do that,
- 6:47Speaker 2: it's the worst violation of the cont it's the total
- 6:50Speaker 2: end of democracy. You cannot do that. Well, of course
- 6:54Speaker 2: you can, and it's been done before in riots in
- 6:57Speaker 2: all sorts of situations. Nineteen sixty seven, Ryot Johnson said,
- 7:01Speaker 2: troops into cities done all the time. I'll give you
- 7:04Speaker 2: the best example was John F. Kennedy. Back then, it
- 7:08Speaker 2: was horrible, horrible segregation, and black students couldn't go to
- 7:12Speaker 2: college in Mississippi and Georgia and Atlanta. You remember of
- 7:15Speaker 2: those governors, those awful governors, Lester Maddocks and George Wallace
- 7:20Speaker 2: and others who would stand in the doorway of the
- 7:23Speaker 2: school blocking it so black kids couldn't attend college. Well,
- 7:27Speaker 2: Kennedy sent troops in lots and lots and lots of
- 7:30Speaker 2: troops to integrate those colleges. It was a big deal
- 7:34Speaker 2: in nineteen sixty one, sixty two, massive amounts of troops
- 7:39Speaker 2: sent in. Now, of course it was Kennedy. He's a Democrat,
- 7:42Speaker 2: so there was nothing but applause. And he was a hero.
- 7:44Speaker 2: And these same Democrats told you this is the most heroic,
- 7:47Speaker 2: wonderful thing any president's ever done. But now, if the
- 7:50Speaker 2: president sends in troops, it's the end of our democracy.
- 7:53Speaker 2: It's a crime, it's a but again, the incredible hypocrisy
- 7:59Speaker 2: democrats are famous for. So hey, they had that mayoral
- 8:04Speaker 2: forum yesterday at the New York Athletic Club, the beautiful,
- 8:08Speaker 2: prestigious New York Athletic Club, one of the city's finest
- 8:11Speaker 2: private clubs. And it was private. But we're starting to
- 8:15Speaker 2: see some of the video and we're starting to hear
- 8:17Speaker 2: from some of the people that weren't there. And it
- 8:21Speaker 2: was all business leaders. All these business leaders, a lot
- 8:25Speaker 2: of them basically said, when it came to Mom Donnie,
- 8:28Speaker 2: it was a lot of double talk. It was dancing
- 8:31Speaker 2: around the questions, skated through generalities. One person said, went
- 8:37Speaker 2: out of his way to slam President Trump over and
- 8:39Speaker 2: over again. Other attendees said, listen, he had tremendous energy
- 8:43Speaker 2: and youth, but nothing of substance. There was no substance,
- 8:47Speaker 2: and it didn't make us feel like he could do
- 8:49Speaker 2: the job. Curtis, they liked, They said he In some
- 8:56Speaker 2: cases there were surprise he had such detailed knowledges of
- 8:59Speaker 2: economic He's been working with great, great economic team Larry
- 9:03Speaker 2: Kudlow and others advising him. They said, yeah, he was.
- 9:11Speaker 2: There was a lot of clarity on how he would
- 9:12Speaker 2: deal with crime and all that. So they like Curtis.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Now when it comes to Cuomo, now, this crowd was
- 9:19Speaker 2: a lot of Democrats, and it wasn't so much what
- 9:22Speaker 2: Cuomo was saying, but a number of people in the
- 9:25Speaker 2: crowd said they were quite surprised, quite shocked. They hadn't
- 9:30Speaker 2: seen him speak in person in a long long time.
- 9:33Speaker 2: They said, there was a little shocked. He looked very old,
- 9:35Speaker 2: he lacked energy. Here's one said, I hadn't seen him
- 9:38Speaker 2: in a while, and I was quite disturbed by it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Another attendee found Cuomo living in the past, seemed to
- 9:45Speaker 2: be more focused on things in the past than talking
- 9:48Speaker 2: about the future. Other comments, here's this Catherine Wilde, she
- 9:52Speaker 2: warns this business partnership. She's a real wacko. She's praising
- 9:56Speaker 2: a Zora and Mamdani. I rest my case, total whacka
- 10:02Speaker 2: Mamdonnie's positions have become more substantive and realistic. No need
- 10:09Speaker 2: to read the rest of her statement. She's a nutty character. Uh,
- 10:14Speaker 2: Andrew Cuomo shocked everybody with a major flip flop. Years ago.
- 10:18Speaker 2: You remember about was it five six years ago? There
- 10:22Speaker 2: was this whole thing about closing Rikers Island. Rikers Island
- 10:26Speaker 2: is the big prison that's on an island. It's Rikers Island.
- 10:30Speaker 2: It's the perfect place for a prison. It's on an island.
- 10:33Speaker 2: You're gonna have a more secure location. And it's a
- 10:36Speaker 2: very big island. There's enormous space there. Rikers Island is
- 10:39Speaker 2: a number of buildings. You couldn't ask for a better
- 10:42Speaker 2: set up for a prison. Lots of buildings, there's room
- 10:44Speaker 2: to build more buildings, all sorts of stuff. All of
- 10:47Speaker 2: a sudden, there was a proposal to close down Rikers Island. Well,
- 10:52Speaker 2: what are you gonna do for a prison? Well, they'll
- 10:53Speaker 2: build five other prisons. They'll build one in each borough,
- 10:57Speaker 2: which didn't seem to make any sense. It would make
- 10:59Speaker 2: more sense they have one big central prison. And why
- 11:02Speaker 2: would you put a prison into each neighborhood in different boroughs?
- 11:07Speaker 2: Who in Queen's wants the prison in their neighborhood? Why
- 11:10Speaker 2: would anybody in the Bronx want a prison in their neighborhood.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Why would it? Was a ridiculous idea. Where did it
- 11:17Speaker 2: come from? By the way, Cuomo, this is what he
- 11:21Speaker 2: was talking about yesterday. He says, we got to stop
- 11:23Speaker 2: this plan to close Rikers Island. It's crazy to close
- 11:27Speaker 2: Rikers Island. It's wacko. Why would you do it? We
- 11:30Speaker 2: must stop this plan. Well, here's the problem. It was
- 11:33Speaker 2: his plan. He's the one that proposed it. He's the
- 11:37Speaker 2: one that started it. So a lot of people think
- 11:39Speaker 2: he saw some internal polling that was frightening him, that
- 11:44Speaker 2: he's got absolutely no shot with Democrats. Democrats just don't
- 11:48Speaker 2: like him. That's how he got wiped out in the primary.
- 11:51Speaker 2: So they think he's trying now to appeal to moderates, independents, Republicans.
- 11:56Speaker 2: But here's the guy who was the guy that came
- 11:59Speaker 2: up with this plan to close Rikers Island. Now he's
- 12:03Speaker 2: against it.
- 12:03Speaker 7: We should rebuild new, state of the art jails on
- 12:07Speaker 7: Rikers Island, provide free bus service, and use those existing
- 12:13Speaker 7: sites for housing and commercial development.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody said that all along. You're the one that
- 12:18Speaker 2: wanted to close it.
- 12:19Speaker 7: Let's make a major start by stopping a major debacle,
- 12:24Speaker 7: which is the new jail construction to replace Rikers Island.
- 12:28Speaker 8: The writing is on the wall.
- 12:30Speaker 7: It promises to be New York City's big Ditch. It
- 12:34Speaker 7: is already years late, big is over budget and obsolete.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Geez talking about how horrible it is. It's his plan,
- 12:43Speaker 2: it was his idea, it's his plan. He's the one
- 12:45Speaker 2: that did it. It's an incredible flip flop. Now I
- 12:49Speaker 2: should point out there's another factor to this, because you say, well,
- 12:53Speaker 2: what if you got the big prison and you don't
- 12:55Speaker 2: need the other five, and it's on an island, no
- 12:57Speaker 2: place more secure, why would you ever want to close it?
- 13:01Speaker 2: Why would you ever want to move it? Well, a
- 13:03Speaker 2: lot of people think the real reason is there were
- 13:07Speaker 2: big developers that wanted that island. They wanted to build condos,
- 13:11Speaker 2: They want to put casinos, want they had all kinds
- 13:14Speaker 2: of plans and they were making massive donations to politicians
- 13:19Speaker 2: to get Rikers Island turned over to them because it's
- 13:23Speaker 2: the only major island around Manhattan that has a nice,
- 13:27Speaker 2: big bridge. You could drive right to it, you know,
- 13:30Speaker 2: Governor's Island. When they took the military base away. They
- 13:33Speaker 2: tried to sell Governor's Island to developers, condos, apartment but
- 13:37Speaker 2: nobody wanted it because you can't drive there, you'd have
- 13:40Speaker 2: to take a ferry. They tried to sell it to
- 13:42Speaker 2: a casino operators, MGM Grand and others all turned it down.
- 13:47Speaker 2: They can't have high rollers taking a ferry. They wanted
- 13:50Speaker 2: it didn't have a bridge. Rikers Onland the only island
- 13:53Speaker 2: with a bridge, and it's big, and it's kind of bridge.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So that's the real reason a lot of people think Cuomo,
- 13:58Speaker 2: de Blasio and the rest, we're all trying to come
- 14:01Speaker 2: up with this island to hand it over to developers.
- 14:03Speaker 2: But big, big, big flip flop for Cuomo. Here's Mom
- 14:08Speaker 2: Donnie on all of this.
- 14:09Speaker 6: Andrew Cuomo's proposal to take that which is broken, that
- 14:16Speaker 6: which is morally bankrupt, that which is a stain on
- 14:23Speaker 6: our city, and to keep it open. It's a betrayal
- 14:29Speaker 6: not only of the law as it stands today, but
- 14:32Speaker 6: also of what New Yorkers actually want.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Now you'll notice Mom Donnie, who was always a very
- 14:37Speaker 2: fast talker. Mom Donny always talked a mile a minute.
- 14:39Speaker 2: You notice Mom Donny is now talking slow. Now Cuomo
- 14:46Speaker 2: always does that, But Coloma's not that bright. Mom Donnie's
- 14:48Speaker 2: very sharp. Why is he's suddenly talking so slow. People
- 14:51Speaker 2: think he's getting very nervous in the last four weeks,
- 14:54Speaker 2: very worried about making a flub or saying the wrong thing.
- 14:56Speaker 2: He's being very careful when he speaks. It's New York City,
- 15:00Speaker 2: and New York City's famous for nayoral races, where the
- 15:03Speaker 2: whole thing can turn around in the last four or
- 15:05Speaker 2: five weeks. It's happened before. Here's Curtis on all this.
- 15:08Speaker 5: In twenty nineteen, he has a press conference, we must
- 15:11Speaker 5: close RK his island. Two weeks ago he once again
- 15:14Speaker 5: reiterated it should have been closed a long time ago.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Where would he have put the inmates back then? You
- 15:20Speaker 5: can't trust Cuomo. He's the flip flop guy.
- 15:24Speaker 2: He is quite a flip flopper, and you gotta give
- 15:27Speaker 2: him credit the gall of this guy. I got pathological huts,
- 15:31Speaker 2: but just flip flop on this thing. Anyway, We'll get
- 15:34Speaker 2: to the New Jersey governor's race. They had the final
- 15:36Speaker 2: debate last night. We got a lot to get to
- 15:39Speaker 2: coming up. We'll take some calls. Next eight hundred three
- 15:42Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten. Is the number eight hundred
- 15:46Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Give WR A bri said on the iHeartRadio app to
- 15:53Speaker 1: hear Mark Simone and all the WR hosts in an instead.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Now back to the Mark Simon show on.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Hey, let's take the calls. Let's go to Bob and
- 16:04Speaker 2: New Rochelle. Bob, how you doing, eh?
- 16:08Speaker 9: I think I'm putting into a cross.
- 16:09Speaker 8: Or your old men.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Sorry to hear that.
- 16:12Speaker 9: Yeah, I got to take the Cross Bronx every morning
- 16:14Speaker 9: from New Rochelle and it's an absolute nightmare.
- 16:16Speaker 10: I'm sure you know.
- 16:17Speaker 2: So people are the country who don't know what the
- 16:18Speaker 2: cross Bunks is.
- 16:19Speaker 9: It's stretching ninety five.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Where you're going, where you're going when you take the
- 16:22Speaker 2: Cross Bronx.
- 16:23Speaker 9: I gotta drive my wife to work. She fabricates metal
- 16:26Speaker 9: doors in the Bronx.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Why do you have to take the Cross Bronx. You
- 16:29Speaker 2: just go straight down.
- 16:32Speaker 9: Greet down aware she's right off the Cross Bronx. I
- 16:34Speaker 9: follow Waves and it sends me that way all the time.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, don't trust that Waves. I don't trust that waves
- 16:39Speaker 2: at all. You know that Waves is a little corrupt.
- 16:41Speaker 2: They can get paid off by sponsors advertisers to have
- 16:44Speaker 2: you drive by their business or their billboard. Don't trust
- 16:47Speaker 2: that one.
- 16:47Speaker 10: They're sending me down ninety five every day, so I
- 16:49Speaker 10: don't know who's getting paid off there.
- 16:50Speaker 9: But anyway, what I'm calling.
- 16:51Speaker 10: For that is is how they let people in the
- 16:54Speaker 10: lanes hanhandling.
- 16:56Speaker 9: Now, don't I don't sound heartless. You know, if you're
- 16:57Speaker 9: down on your luck, down your uck, it shouldn't be
- 16:59Speaker 9: in a highway in the middle of the lane.
- 17:00Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Well, actually, uh, they should make that an Olympic sport.
- 17:04Speaker 2: He's talking about on the Cross Bronx, which is a
- 17:06Speaker 2: major highway, there are these illegals standing right in the
- 17:09Speaker 2: middle of the highway, right in between the second and
- 17:11Speaker 2: third lane selling candy bars. And you're right, so much
- 17:15Speaker 2: taking for money. Yeah, but there's so much traffic on
- 17:17Speaker 2: the Cross Bronx. How did they get in there? To
- 17:19Speaker 2: get into that middle lane there, it's an amazing thing.
- 17:23Speaker 9: Slow and everybody's moving at two or three miles an hour.
- 17:25Speaker 8: They just probably walked between the cars.
- 17:27Speaker 2: It's still an amazing feat to watch. You're right, it's
- 17:29Speaker 2: totally out of control there that Crossbronx. A good point.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Thanks for calling. Let's go to Dave in Chicago. Dave,
- 17:35Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 17:37Speaker 9: Good morning, Mark. I'm doing very well. Thank you.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Mark.
- 17:40Speaker 9: I got home very late last night, about one o'clock
- 17:43Speaker 9: in the morning, and I turned on Larry cud Low
- 17:45Speaker 9: and I saw you and Joe Conca. What I'm a
- 17:49Speaker 9: little unclear about. I thought the discussion. I thought the
- 17:53Speaker 9: discussion was about Governor Kathy Hochel. Is he dropping in
- 17:57Speaker 9: the polls due to her endorse see Monday to at
- 18:01Speaker 9: least what's your stean?
- 18:03Speaker 2: Yes, she took a drop over her mom Donnie.
- 18:05Speaker 9: Endorsement and this continues. Does it look like Kathy Hochel
- 18:12Speaker 9: will absolutely lose because it took her a long time
- 18:16Speaker 9: to endorse Mondonna.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yes, it looks like Kathy Hockel's in big, big trouble.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Thanks Dave, Because, as I pointed out on the Larry
- 18:23Speaker 2: Cuddler yesterday, if she's five points ahead in those public
- 18:28Speaker 2: poles that are all rigged, it means she's really ten
- 18:30Speaker 2: points behind. They rig those poles by about eight to
- 18:33Speaker 2: ten points, So if she's only five points ahead, she's
- 18:35Speaker 2: probably really actually behind. Let's go to Jerry in New Jersey. Jerry,
- 18:39Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 18:41Speaker 6: Good morning?
- 18:42Speaker 10: Mark?
- 18:42Speaker 1: How are you?
- 18:43Speaker 2: Let me check good?
- 18:45Speaker 8: Good?
- 18:45Speaker 10: I think you're good. I don't know if it's a
- 18:49Speaker 10: scare tactic or not. At the air traffic controllers, however,
- 18:53Speaker 10: Trump should pull a Reagan if you don't show up fired,
- 18:58Speaker 10: bringing the military air trafficers, and that would end that
- 19:01Speaker 10: right there.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Well, that was a little different situation. That strike was
- 19:04Speaker 2: about money, and they went on they went on strike.
- 19:08Speaker 2: They all walked out at once, So that was the
- 19:10Speaker 2: reason for that. But this is not as scary. There's
- 19:13Speaker 2: a couple of airports operating now without controllers. But what
- 19:16Speaker 2: they don't want you to know if that has happened
- 19:18Speaker 2: in the past, and what it means is you simply
- 19:21Speaker 2: controlled from another tower at another nearby airport. It's not good,
- 19:24Speaker 2: but it's not as scary as they make it out
- 19:27Speaker 2: to be. And the other reason Reagan wanted to do
- 19:30Speaker 2: that he had just taken office, he had just become president,
- 19:34Speaker 2: and the air traffic controllers thought they could show him
- 19:37Speaker 2: and they all walked out, paralyzing the whole nation. Well,
- 19:40Speaker 2: he fired them all, brought in the military. It was
- 19:42Speaker 2: an incredibly, unbelievably bold move on the part of the president.
- 19:46Speaker 2: The real reason he did that is he wanted to
- 19:49Speaker 2: show the Soviet Union at the time how tough he
- 19:54Speaker 2: could be in China, and they took that as a
- 19:56Speaker 2: warning that this guy doesn't bluff and you can't call
- 20:00Speaker 2: bluff and this guy is fearless. So that that's the
- 20:03Speaker 2: other reason he did that. Let's go to Vincent and Brooklyn.
- 20:06Speaker 8: Vincent, how you doing, Good morning, Mark, Mark, I'm okay, Mark,
- 20:10Speaker 8: The only one who could pull Kathy Hokal's chestnuts side
- 20:12Speaker 8: of the fire is Curtis Sleewer, because if Mondami gets
- 20:16Speaker 8: elected by next summer, she's going to be toasting the polls. Mark.
- 20:21Speaker 8: You're one hundred percent right about right, ass Island being
- 20:25Speaker 8: the only island that had as a bridge and it's
- 20:28Speaker 8: easy to get to. I had to go bail somebody
- 20:31Speaker 8: out there years ago, and me and this guy I
- 20:34Speaker 8: com mentioned his name, Me and Jimmy Motts. We got
- 20:37Speaker 8: in his sports car and we went to the parking
- 20:41Speaker 8: lot and uh, if you're going to go on the bus,
- 20:44Speaker 8: it's the free bus. It's the Department of Corrections. They
- 20:48Speaker 8: pat you down before you go on the bus to
- 20:50Speaker 8: make sure you're not bringing Contraband I waited in the
- 20:53Speaker 8: car on the sun deck and I got a sun
- 20:56Speaker 8: there and it was in the summer and you could
- 20:59Speaker 8: build the Plazi and Mario Cuomo because the book was
- 21:03Speaker 8: correctional facility not far about a mile away from my house,
- 21:08Speaker 8: they closed that and they're building co ops over there
- 21:13Speaker 8: and build the Blazzo at the time said oh, he
- 21:16Speaker 8: was also one of these. I'm going to close like
- 21:18Speaker 8: his island and every all the community groups in every
- 21:23Speaker 8: borough were up in arms because he said he was
- 21:26Speaker 8: gonna build, like you said, five five prisons.
- 21:31Speaker 2: The dumbest idea, and it was Clomo that was behind
- 21:33Speaker 2: it exactly. Now stop it. He's going to stop his
- 21:37Speaker 2: own idea.
- 21:38Speaker 8: And there's a co op there now. They're they're building
- 21:41Speaker 8: a high rise call up where the prison is. That's
- 21:44Speaker 8: why they really wanted it.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah, well, great call, Vincent, excellent point. Oh when we
- 21:49Speaker 2: come back, Steve Moore will be with us, the Great Economist.
- 21:53Speaker 2: We've got lots to talk to him about. Coming up
- 21:55Speaker 2: next on seven to ten w R Western of the Org.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Gear's more marksimone on seven tenor.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I'm stalling a little here, but it's the hunt for
- 22:12Speaker 2: Steve Moore. We're looking for him, the Great Economist. Man
- 22:16Speaker 2: is a genius, an absolute genius. But you know how
- 22:18Speaker 2: these geniuses are, sometimes it's hard to track them down.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I just saw him yesterday. We were on Cuddload together
- 22:24Speaker 2: yesterday and then we had a big dinner last night
- 22:27Speaker 2: honoring the greatest economist in the world. The greatest living
- 22:31Speaker 2: economist is doctor Art Laugher. He's the guy that invented
- 22:35Speaker 2: the Laugher curve, which is a basis. Wait a minute,
- 22:41Speaker 2: we have all the TVs on here, one on MSNBC,
- 22:45Speaker 2: one on CNN, and this one on Fox. And I'm
- 22:49Speaker 2: looking at the one on Fox, and the guest is
- 22:51Speaker 2: Steve Moore. It's live, so you know, normally we can't
- 22:59Speaker 2: find him. And I said, yeah, he'll turn up. We'll
- 23:01Speaker 2: get him in a couple of minutes. But there he is.
- 23:03Speaker 2: He's on with Bill Hemmer, who was at the dinner
- 23:05Speaker 2: last night with us. He's on with Bill Hemmer talking
- 23:09Speaker 2: about actually we should just play the audio. We'll have
- 23:12Speaker 2: Steve Moore that way. Can you bring it up? Bring
- 23:16Speaker 2: up Fox. Let's see what do you say, We'll look
- 23:19Speaker 2: for it. I think he was got a little mixed
- 23:22Speaker 2: up in his schedule. They we had this dinner honoring
- 23:25Speaker 2: Art Laugher fiftieth anniversary of the Laugher Curve, which is
- 23:29Speaker 2: how you determine the tax policy. In other words, when
- 23:31Speaker 2: you bring down the taxes, you increase the revenue if
- 23:34Speaker 2: you do it right. And it was people greatest economists
- 23:37Speaker 2: from all over the world flew in for this dinner.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Bill Hemmer was there and Steve Moore ran the dinner.
- 23:45Speaker 2: But he's on right now on Fox. Listen to this.
- 23:49Speaker 11: Inflated rhetoric that keeps coming out of the Democrats. I'm
- 23:54Speaker 11: old enough to remember when we passed Obamacare. Remember that
- 23:58Speaker 11: in twenty ten, this is all our health care problems.
- 24:03Speaker 11: I remember it was called the Affordable Care Act. And
- 24:05Speaker 11: since then, the cost of healthcare has gone up and
- 24:08Speaker 11: up and up up.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Every year.
- 24:09Speaker 11: It's doubled in costs since we passed Obamacare. So the
- 24:13Speaker 11: same people who told us Obamacare was going to solve
- 24:15Speaker 11: all our health care problems are now saying, if we
- 24:17Speaker 11: don't pass these massive extensions of Obamacare, we're going to
- 24:21Speaker 11: we're going to have a real problems they were supposed
- 24:25Speaker 11: to be.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yeah, go ahead.
- 24:28Speaker 12: I mean, it doesn't sound like anyone at this point.
- 24:32Speaker 12: I mean, this could go maybe another week. There's this
- 24:34Speaker 12: talk about this No King's protest that's coming to DC
- 24:38Speaker 12: on the eighteenth. I believe don't know if they're going
- 24:40Speaker 12: to wait for that. They could, but it could continue
- 24:42Speaker 12: to drag on. What's interesting is that you know, we
- 24:44Speaker 12: know it's hitting federal workers, we know it's hitting area.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I think we got the idea, so you can't say
- 24:49Speaker 2: we didn't bring you Steve more. We just had an
- 24:51Speaker 2: interview with Steve Moore. You see, this is the thing,
- 24:54Speaker 2: if you're doing this in a million years, you'll have guests
- 24:56Speaker 2: that don't show up, and you got to fill the
- 24:59Speaker 2: tent the courtesy of Steve Moore to when he doesn't
- 25:03Speaker 2: show up, to go on TV with a live interview
- 25:06Speaker 2: and we can broadcast that. But you know, what he
- 25:07Speaker 2: was saying is just what I was going to ask
- 25:10Speaker 2: him about anyway. Which is a big part of the
- 25:14Speaker 2: shutdown is this healthcare stuff. And the big problem is
- 25:18Speaker 2: the cost of healthcare is going up like crazy. And
- 25:21Speaker 2: as he pointed out, when they passed Obamacare, nobody remembers this.
- 25:24Speaker 2: They call it Obamacare. The original name was the Affordable
- 25:28Speaker 2: Care Act, and that was the idea. And it turned out,
- 25:33Speaker 2: I know this is hard to believe. I don't mean
- 25:35Speaker 2: to Shakia, but it turned out that Obama lied about
- 25:38Speaker 2: the whole thing when he started it. You remember he
- 25:40Speaker 2: kept saying, if you like your doctor, you can keep
- 25:43Speaker 2: your doctor. If you like your plan, you can keep
- 25:45Speaker 2: your plan. Well, it turns out that was totally false,
- 25:48Speaker 2: and we now know it's come out since that he
- 25:52Speaker 2: knew it was false, that many people couldn't keep their doctor,
- 25:55Speaker 2: and many people couldn't keep their plan. And the other
- 25:58Speaker 2: problem was the name Affordable Care Act. It wasn't It
- 26:04Speaker 2: might start it off looking okay, but then the cost
- 26:07Speaker 2: quickly swored and got out of control. That's what a
- 26:09Speaker 2: lot of this fight is about right now.
- 26:12Speaker 9: Now.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Republicans do the same thing. Remember Bush used to be
- 26:15Speaker 2: famous for that. He'd have a bill that was going
- 26:17Speaker 2: to it was the Clean Skies Act, and then but
- 26:22Speaker 2: you had actually read it was to open a bunch
- 26:24Speaker 2: of coal plants, which but they just give it a
- 26:26Speaker 2: fancy name, a misleading name, the Clean Energy Act, which
- 26:29Speaker 2: it wasn't. So but Obama did that with the Affordable
- 26:33Speaker 2: Care Act. It was just the opposite. Prices are way
- 26:36Speaker 2: out of control and they're due to almost double in
- 26:39Speaker 2: the next year. That's one reason for the shutdown. Republicans
- 26:41Speaker 2: want to fix this, Democrats want to keep it. And
- 26:46Speaker 2: President Trump has been saying over and over, you got
- 26:48Speaker 2: to redo this health carelet it's got to be redone.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Of course, Democrats don't trust Trump to do it. So
- 26:53Speaker 2: that's what we're going to talk to Steve more about that.
- 26:55Speaker 2: The other thing I would ask him about the stock
- 26:57Speaker 2: market set another record yesterday, s and P five hundred
- 27:00Speaker 2: all time record, Nasdaq all time record. And you know,
- 27:04Speaker 2: we've been saying that all along. Every week for the
- 27:09Speaker 2: better like the past five or six weeks, the stock
- 27:11Speaker 2: market's been setting all kinds of records. So what that
- 27:14Speaker 2: means is the tariffs are not a problem. The tariffs
- 27:17Speaker 2: are not causing inflation, the tariffs are not hurt in
- 27:21Speaker 2: the economy. Wall Street has seen that that Wall Street
- 27:24Speaker 2: now accepts the fact that the tariffs are just fine,
- 27:27Speaker 2: doing no damage. And it caused the stock market set
- 27:32Speaker 2: all kinds of records. They've driven it up to the
- 27:34Speaker 2: highest level ever. And now you got the shutdown for
- 27:37Speaker 2: nine or ten days and we're setting new records with
- 27:41Speaker 2: the stock market during the shutdown, which means Wall Street
- 27:45Speaker 2: is just fine with the shutdown. So it's worked out.
- 27:50Speaker 2: It's worked out very well. Now the shutdown. You can't
- 27:53Speaker 2: continue this forever. It's got to be settled at some point.
- 27:55Speaker 2: How long could it go? Well, the longest shutdown ever
- 27:58Speaker 2: was thirty five days December twenty eighteen. I know you
- 28:02Speaker 2: don't remember it, nobody remembers, but it was thirty five days.
- 28:04Speaker 2: You can you can do that. So Steve Moore also
- 28:08Speaker 2: mentioned they're talking about a protest this weekend called the
- 28:10Speaker 2: No Kings. They're bringing that back. They're bringing that stupid
- 28:15Speaker 2: slogan back, No Kings. I guess that means Trump is
- 28:20Speaker 2: trying to be you know, that's the other thing you
- 28:22Speaker 2: hear that these Pritzkers say he's trying to seize power.
- 28:25Speaker 2: He's the president of the United States. There's no more
- 28:28Speaker 2: power to seize. You know, once you get to be president,
- 28:31Speaker 2: you're really not looking to seize much power anymore. That's like,
- 28:35Speaker 2: you know, Elon Musk is worth four hundred and eighty
- 28:38Speaker 2: billion dollars. They take youre trying to enrich himself. Once
- 28:41Speaker 2: you're over four hundred billion, You couldn't enrich yourself if
- 28:44Speaker 2: you tried. It's impossible, you know. Yeah, he's about to
- 28:50Speaker 2: hit five hundred billion. He'll be a trillionaire at some point.
- 28:55Speaker 2: You know, once you're above one hundred billion, you couldn't
- 28:57Speaker 2: spend it if you tried. You literally could not spend it.
- 29:00Speaker 2: It's impossible. You can't do it. It's impossible. You're earning like
- 29:06Speaker 2: ten billion a year just an interest. You can't spend it.
- 29:09Speaker 2: So you wouldn't be trying to enrich yourself anyway. We'll
- 29:12Speaker 2: get Steve Moore next week. He does show up, I'd
- 29:18Speaker 2: say ninety eight percent of the time. But hey, coming up,
- 29:22Speaker 2: we've got a lot to get to. In the next hour.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Jimmy Faylor will be with us. You know, he does
- 29:26Speaker 2: a great show every night nine to midnight. You got
- 29:29Speaker 2: to listen to it. It's funny, it's interesting, and of
- 29:31Speaker 2: course you got Buck and Clay right after this show.
- 29:34Speaker 2: They'll be on at noon today on seven to ten
- 29:36Speaker 2: wor mar.
- 29:39Speaker 12: Emo Show on seven ten wr.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Well, no more, No more Yankee season. It's over. It's over. Yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 2: it ended last night. It was not much of a
- 29:56Speaker 2: kind of a sad ending. A strikeout end of the game.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Here the one chop pitch game. Jeff hop then strikes
- 30:07Speaker 4: out Cody Ballancher and the Blue Jays have done it.
- 30:12Speaker 4: They have not taught the New York Yankees. They have
- 30:15Speaker 4: won their first playoff series since twenty sixteen, and they
- 30:20Speaker 4: are going to the American League Championship Series.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Now, that's the problem with baseball nowadays. You remember the
- 30:27Speaker 2: old days. You win the end of the seed, you win,
- 30:29Speaker 2: you win the Pennant that's the pennant. Now you go
- 30:31Speaker 2: to the World Series. Now, when you win these series,
- 30:34Speaker 2: it doesn't mean you're just not in the next one.
- 30:36Speaker 2: It's the al DS series, the ale BS series, the
- 30:39Speaker 2: al CS series. So you just keep winning and then
- 30:43Speaker 2: it's another you know, it used to be October fourth
- 30:46Speaker 2: you'd start the World Series. Now it's like the middle
- 30:48Speaker 2: of November. So the Yankees are done for the year.
- 30:51Speaker 2: You know, it's been sixteen years since the World Championship.
- 30:58Speaker 2: There's no there's no Georgetown anymore. It's not the same thing.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Remember how many World Championship? Remember any World Series rings?
- 31:05Speaker 2: There are sixteen years since the last one. Hey, we
- 31:10Speaker 2: got a lot to get to. Right after the news,
- 31:12Speaker 2: I'm here every day ten to noon, or if you want,
- 31:15Speaker 2: you can listen to any time you want, day or night.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Just get the podcast wherever you get your podcasts back
- 31:20Speaker 2: right after the news on seven to ten, Woir
