- 0:54Speaker 1: I'm wearing an Army West Point lacrosse shirt Welcoming Navy
- 0:57Speaker 1: man Luke Arkins to the show.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Hello, sir, hi Greg, it's good to talk to you.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I assume I'm your favorite Navy guy and I rank.
- 1:05Speaker 2: One of one.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yes, you are one of one, maybe guy.
- 1:08Speaker 3: One of one? Yeah and one maybe guys?
- 1:10Speaker 1: Would you like No, I've served with great Navy guys.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Just begrudgingly want to admit that, but yes, no, thank you, sir. Okay, So,
- 1:19Speaker 1: mister Mariner, tell us why analytically speaking, the Mariners are
- 1:22Speaker 1: suddenly in first place after a couple months in slumber.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Well, one thing they've done just over. Let's if you
- 1:28Speaker 3: go back to the Royals. This beginning of the Royal Series,
- 1:32Speaker 3: they were they're swinging this rate. Therewith rate on pitches
- 1:37Speaker 3: in the strike zone was around twenty percent, and since
- 1:42Speaker 3: then it's down to seventeen. It doesn't sound like a
- 1:44Speaker 3: big jump, but it's it's a lot closer to the
- 1:47Speaker 3: league average, which is about sixteen percent. The other thing
- 1:51Speaker 3: they've been doing, it's swinging more often at the first pitch.
- 1:55Speaker 3: They were around twenty seven percent since the Royals before
- 1:58Speaker 3: the Royal Series, and it's jumped to thirty four percent,
- 2:02Speaker 3: which is better than the league average.
- 2:03Speaker 2: So that's two things they're.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Doing right there.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Certainly, and you look at Colt Emerson's providing a better
- 2:09Speaker 3: defensive third base, and certainly he's provided some excitement along
- 2:14Speaker 3: the way. Julio has haven't had a great May. That
- 2:17Speaker 3: certainly helps quite a bit. It looks like Cole Young's
- 2:20Speaker 3: bat is starting to heat back up. He had kind
- 2:22Speaker 3: of a rough May. And so you take all those
- 2:25Speaker 3: things and other little pieces and parts, and you also
- 2:28Speaker 3: play a couple of teams that frankly are not that good.
- 2:32Speaker 3: That certainly helps too, helps you get right. And so
- 2:35Speaker 3: that's that's kind of what I'm seeing.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I just made the assertion last hour that Cold Young
- 2:41Speaker 1: is the best all around Mariners player defensively, situational hitting,
- 2:46Speaker 1: base running. What are the numbers? What are the analytics
- 2:49Speaker 1: tell you? Am I far off on that loop.
- 2:53Speaker 3: All round value? He's right there with Randy Rose arena.
- 2:57Speaker 3: If you go by war the Baseball Reference version, would
- 3:03Speaker 3: I tend to lean towards Julio. Although Julio's defense has
- 3:07Speaker 3: not been as good as it has in previous years,
- 3:12Speaker 3: Cole Young does all the things you just said. You
- 3:14Speaker 3: have a situational hitting and that the defense he's does
- 3:17Speaker 3: that extremely well. But Julio is still the better run producer,
- 3:20Speaker 3: the bigger threat on the basis, and just the more power.
- 3:27Speaker 2: But they're both great player. It's a good problem.
- 3:28Speaker 3: It's a good debate to have, isn't it, to say, Hey,
- 3:30Speaker 3: who's the better round player? And you have several players
- 3:33Speaker 3: you can debate about instead of just saying, oh, yeah,
- 3:35Speaker 3: this guy is the guy because there's nobody else that's
- 3:37Speaker 3: doing it. And so I just I look at Cole
- 3:41Speaker 3: Young as just a great, solid, all round player. And
- 3:47Speaker 3: the other thing about him is I didn't realize that
- 3:49Speaker 3: until I was looking for some numbers for this show.
- 3:51Speaker 3: He has played more innings in the field than anybody
- 3:54Speaker 3: in baseball this year. In the top five, it's like him,
- 3:59Speaker 3: Rani Rose and Julio Rodriguez and of course Marcus Syrian
- 4:02Speaker 3: who we saw last night for the Mats, And so
- 4:06Speaker 3: that's pretty significant in itself.
- 4:07Speaker 2: The guy posts he's.
- 4:09Speaker 3: In every game, every inning, just like Randy has been
- 4:11Speaker 3: and Julio, and so that is a significant thing that's
- 4:16Speaker 3: going on there.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I can't think of a second basement in baseball better.
- 4:20Speaker 1: My son, after the game winning hit by Young us
- 4:22Speaker 1: night said that's the best second basement in baseball right there.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess you could. I think about that for
- 4:30Speaker 2: a minute. I really thought of him that way.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Offensively, I don't know that he is but all around player.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he's in the conversation.
- 4:40Speaker 4: So, how concerned Luke should Mariner fans be about back
- 4:45Speaker 4: spasms becoming maybe a reoccurring issue for Naylor given how
- 4:49Speaker 4: vital he's been to the lineup since last year?
- 4:55Speaker 3: Well, Chris, sure, if it's a long term issue or
- 4:58Speaker 3: it's something that leads to an aisles, it will be
- 5:00Speaker 3: interesting to see how the Marin is still at hole.
- 5:04Speaker 3: They're not exactly deep at the position. I don't know
- 5:07Speaker 3: that what they would do. Frankly, if you know, it's
- 5:12Speaker 3: kind of hard to imagine Patrick Wisdom playing full time
- 5:16Speaker 3: at first base. I guess you could use Luke Railey
- 5:18Speaker 3: over there.
- 5:19Speaker 2: But it's his bad is a big deal.
- 5:21Speaker 3: His energy is a big deal, and certainly losing him
- 5:24Speaker 3: for any period of time, just like cal Rawley will,
- 5:28Speaker 3: would be a big deal.
- 5:30Speaker 1: It looked like he got injured on the home run swing.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Perhaps, Yeah, I think so, if I'm not mistaken. I
- 5:35Speaker 4: don't want to guess on it, but do you view
- 5:37Speaker 4: this seven game, which has been nice. I mean, I'm
- 5:40Speaker 4: sure marinor fans are teasing just now hearing about it
- 5:43Speaker 4: and watching these games. But is it evidence that this
- 5:46Speaker 4: team has become perhaps a legitimate playoff caliber team or
- 5:50Speaker 4: are there still issues or weaknesses that could potentially resurface
- 5:55Speaker 4: over the next let's say two months or so.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Well, I view, even when they were not playing well,
- 6:02Speaker 3: I still thought they were a class of the division
- 6:05Speaker 3: and that they were a solid postseason contender.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I would say health is.
- 6:11Speaker 3: An issue to to keep an eye on. Certainly cal Raley,
- 6:15Speaker 3: Brendan Donovan. Of course, now we're talking about Naylor or
- 6:18Speaker 3: anybody else like that is something we'll just have to
- 6:21Speaker 3: keep an eye on. And the same thing with the bullpen,
- 6:24Speaker 3: of course. But I you know, as we get closer
- 6:28Speaker 3: to trade deadline, we'll see where the holes are, and
- 6:30Speaker 3: of course we know Jerry Depot will do something about
- 6:33Speaker 3: whatever holes need to be addressed, whether it's in the
- 6:37Speaker 3: bullpen or somewhere in the field. You think at the
- 6:39Speaker 3: moment that they don't need to necessarily make a big
- 6:41Speaker 3: splash like they've done in the past, like last.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Year, or they picked up.
- 6:47Speaker 3: They picked up.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Oh God, who do they?
- 6:52Speaker 2: I just forgot.
- 6:54Speaker 3: They picked up Josh Naylor and and and Gino Suarez
- 6:58Speaker 3: last year and in the past they picked up Randy
- 7:01Speaker 3: orros Arena steal up another year and so, but.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I think it's coming here.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I think we're looking maybe more as far as just
- 7:09Speaker 3: small pieces to fill in supplemental pieces unless somebody goes
- 7:13Speaker 3: down an injury. But I feel pretty good about the mess,
- 7:15Speaker 3: particularly with the rotation. The rotation is so solid right now.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Of course with the six man and the piggy back,
- 7:22Speaker 3: and that causes a lot of acts, but that is
- 7:25Speaker 3: their superpower, is the starting rotation.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Okay, you brought it up, the p word, the piggyback.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Is it going to continue? In your mind? You've got
- 7:33Speaker 1: the sixteen games in seventh seventeen day stretch coming up here.
- 7:38Speaker 1: There's talk now there's gonna be a six man rotation. Statistically,
- 7:42Speaker 1: analytically player how they feel about it? Castillo has chafed
- 7:47Speaker 1: a little bit and Bryce Miller has chased a little bit.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Is this sustainable? I mean, I guess as long as
- 7:53Speaker 1: six healthy pitchers are throwing sub three eras, you just
- 7:55Speaker 1: keep doing it. Huh.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I believe so I been kind of vocal on Twitter
- 8:02Speaker 3: that I felt like the Manners didn't communicate it very well.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Let's let's look back.
- 8:07Speaker 3: You know when they when Miller was not far from
- 8:10Speaker 3: coming back, we all were wondering, Uh, certainly it was
- 8:14Speaker 3: a hot topic on your station, as what are they
- 8:16Speaker 3: going to do? Are they going to move Castillo to
- 8:19Speaker 3: the bullpen? They're going to go six man rotation? And
- 8:21Speaker 3: they went this direction, and so they had plenty of
- 8:24Speaker 3: time to come up with the plan. It just doesn't
- 8:26Speaker 3: seem like they messaged it very well to their own people.
- 8:30Speaker 3: And so I think that is why you saw the
- 8:32Speaker 3: public frustration from Castillo and Miller, is because I don't
- 8:37Speaker 3: think they had a clear idea on what what to
- 8:40Speaker 3: expect going in. It doesn't mean they have to like
- 8:43Speaker 3: the plan, but you want to get to a point
- 8:45Speaker 3: where they accept the plan. I think you understand understand that, Greg,
- 8:49Speaker 3: just from your time and services communicating the plan right,
- 8:53Speaker 3: it's I think it's a leadership communication thing. It's like, Okay,
- 8:57Speaker 3: somebody came up with this good idea, all right, now
- 9:00Speaker 3: goes down to the manager, I assume, and the pitching
- 9:02Speaker 3: coach or whom or whomever is liaison with the with
- 9:05Speaker 3: the players, how is it being communicated? And this is
- 9:09Speaker 3: even the guys in the bullpend, the believers. Did they
- 9:11Speaker 3: understand what's gonna happen when this is going on? This
- 9:15Speaker 3: like Munio's that first time through with what was expected
- 9:18Speaker 3: from Munios in that situation. And if there's not a
- 9:21Speaker 3: clear understanding of the the for the manager, if he
- 9:24Speaker 3: doesn't clearly understand the idea that's been pushed down from
- 9:29Speaker 3: the front office, can he adequately handled the game situations
- 9:34Speaker 3: when they change on a dime? And so we don't
- 9:37Speaker 3: know all the answers to that, but it's clearly communications
- 9:40Speaker 3: was an issue with that. As far as for performance,
- 9:42Speaker 3: there have been they have been great. Their top five
- 9:45Speaker 3: rotation since they went to this and over the last
- 9:49Speaker 3: two weeks they're arguably the best rotation in baseball. So
- 9:52Speaker 3: it's hard to argue with results when that's in place.
- 9:56Speaker 3: And at some point I assume the manager, the manager,
- 9:59Speaker 3: the management believes that somebody is going to have an injury,
- 10:02Speaker 3: he's gonna fall out for a few turns or something
- 10:05Speaker 3: like that.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I mean, look at everybody.
- 10:07Speaker 3: In the rotation, like other than Castillo, everybody else missed
- 10:12Speaker 3: time last.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Year, right, exactly, that's what they're counting on course, almost counting. Yeah,
- 10:17Speaker 1: you're right, commanders right, well, yeah, it's inevitable. It seemed
- 10:22Speaker 1: commander's intent. That's what we used to be told all
- 10:24Speaker 1: the time in the military. You have to be able
- 10:26Speaker 1: to convey your commander's intent. You have a first time
- 10:30Speaker 1: manager getting pushed upon him. He doesn't have experience communicating or,
- 10:34Speaker 1: to Luke's point, dealing with it in the middle of
- 10:36Speaker 1: the game when it situations change. Yeah, that was a
- 10:40Speaker 1: failure of leadership from the top for sure, Luke Arkins
- 10:43Speaker 1: Mariners can sickly your newsletter. Former Navy officer and Mariner's
- 10:47Speaker 1: analyst joining us here on the Beacon Plumbing hotline. Okay,
- 10:50Speaker 1: when Brendan Donovan comes back, We're not sure when that's
- 10:52Speaker 1: going to be, but when it is, what do you
- 10:54Speaker 1: do in the infield?
- 10:55Speaker 2: Luke, that's a tough question, you know.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Uh.
- 11:00Speaker 3: You know, one thing is I just thinking about this
- 11:02Speaker 3: this morning. They're so left handed. You look around, like,
- 11:07Speaker 3: who's the who's the right handed hitting infield? I guess
- 11:09Speaker 3: Patrick Wisdom, I'm trying to think who else that might
- 11:12Speaker 3: be there. Uh, I guess maybe it's like the sixth man,
- 11:16Speaker 3: you're you're maybe you're banking on somebody being hurt. Perhaps, Uh,
- 11:21Speaker 3: what we'll see is like I think with the Donovan,
- 11:25Speaker 3: they're going to manage his workload. Perhaps he d h
- 11:28Speaker 3: is a little bit more.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Uh.
- 11:30Speaker 3: You know, this injury that he's dealing with is really
- 11:33Speaker 3: started last year. He had surgery in the offseason, and
- 11:36Speaker 3: he came back and he was gangbusters in the beginning,
- 11:39Speaker 3: but then he started having issues. And I think they're
- 11:42Speaker 3: going to be guarded and the way they bring him
- 11:44Speaker 3: back and how they roll them out, because the goal
- 11:46Speaker 3: is to have him or whatever whatever one hundred percent
- 11:51Speaker 3: looks like for any player at the end of the
- 11:53Speaker 3: season when they when they're rolling into the postseason. Clearly
- 11:56Speaker 3: they need him to get to the postseason, but they
- 11:58Speaker 3: want the best version of him when they get there.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I think you're right about that.
- 12:04Speaker 3: That's a that's a pretty vague reflection there. I guess
- 12:07Speaker 3: that no exactly what they're going to do for sure. No,
- 12:10Speaker 3: I don't think cold Emerson's going back down right he
- 12:13Speaker 3: just falls on his face, which I don't think is
- 12:15Speaker 3: going to happen. I think he's going to struggle, but
- 12:17Speaker 3: I don't think he's gonna collapse either.
- 12:20Speaker 1: No, and you'd be messing with the psyche of a
- 12:22Speaker 1: guy who just gave ninety five million dollars to guaranteed
- 12:24Speaker 1: if you send him back to Tacoma at this point,
- 12:26Speaker 1: God Chris.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Of the Mariners top four starters Logan, Brian, George Kirby,
- 12:32Speaker 4: and Emerson Hancock, which one do you think has the
- 12:35Speaker 4: best combination stockout ability and underlying metrics to potentially sustain
- 12:40Speaker 4: the legitimate al Cy young campaign over these next three?
- 12:45Speaker 1: For me, yeah, let's just raise the flag right now.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Emerson Hancock for Cy young Man and to eight he's.
- 12:51Speaker 2: In the conversation.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I would also, but I would metrically, I would
- 12:56Speaker 3: go with.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Brian Lou Okay, he's just.
- 13:01Speaker 3: The lack of contact and or hard contact and also
- 13:05Speaker 3: strike out, and I would say Hancock is Emerson Hancock
- 13:09Speaker 3: has done a fabulous job of reinventing himself to a degree.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I posted something on Twitter last night talking about his
- 13:17Speaker 3: strikeout rate when he had, when he had when he
- 13:22Speaker 3: gets to two strikes. So in twenty twenty four, it's
- 13:24Speaker 3: like twenty eight percent. Last year it was thirty three
- 13:28Speaker 3: and a half. Now it's forty eight, which is eight
- 13:31Speaker 3: percent or excuse me, six percent better than the league average.
- 13:34Speaker 3: So initially when he came up, he had a hard
- 13:36Speaker 3: time getting strike three. He did get the strike too,
- 13:39Speaker 3: but he just couldn't get strike three. And now he's
- 13:43Speaker 3: he's phenomenal at it, and you can look at his
- 13:45Speaker 3: four seam fastball, it's outstanding. And so he's done a
- 13:49Speaker 3: lot of great things. But I would still go with
- 13:51Speaker 3: wu just because of his all round skill sets and
- 13:57Speaker 3: the history of doing it. But again, he has had
- 14:01Speaker 3: his challenges with injuries, and that's you know, I'm not
- 14:03Speaker 3: wishing that on anybody, but that has been a challenge
- 14:05Speaker 3: for for Brian lou who I like.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I said, I think he's their best picture. I said
- 14:09Speaker 2: that last year too, before the start of the season.
- 14:12Speaker 1: All right, where the storm clouds Luke, what's the possibility
- 14:15Speaker 1: of reigning on this first place parade? Or is the
- 14:18Speaker 1: Als just so bad that no rain could stop this trade?
- 14:23Speaker 3: Well, I wouldn't sleep on the Rangers just because they're
- 14:27Speaker 3: their pitching staff that their run prevention for the season
- 14:31Speaker 3: is on par with the Marriagers, but their offense sputters,
- 14:35Speaker 3: their defense has some relaxes, and they play in a
- 14:39Speaker 3: They play in a pitcher's park too, which is so
- 14:42Speaker 3: weird to think about. When you look at the Rangers,
- 14:44Speaker 3: you always think of Peririe, Texas. It's like a you know,
- 14:46Speaker 3: but this ballpark sort of plays like a like a
- 14:50Speaker 3: like a pitcher's park.
- 14:52Speaker 2: You know.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Before the season, I said that I had never been
- 14:57Speaker 3: so low or hadn't been on so low on the
- 14:59Speaker 3: ass throws in a long time. And we saw how
- 15:03Speaker 3: they just the wheels came off in the first month
- 15:05Speaker 3: of the season. But they are starting to rebuild a
- 15:08Speaker 3: pitching south and if they have offense, so I wouldn't
- 15:12Speaker 3: discount them, although I think they will continue to sputter
- 15:16Speaker 3: because of age, but don't sleep on them.
- 15:19Speaker 2: As far as they age. They just don't have a
- 15:21Speaker 2: pitching They just don't.
- 15:23Speaker 3: They're gonna hit, and I would say just back to
- 15:27Speaker 3: the marriage for a second.
- 15:29Speaker 2: They the way the managed shut down that.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Offense in that Hooters Park last week is impressive and
- 15:36Speaker 3: shouldn't be overlooked.
- 15:37Speaker 2: That is a big deal.
- 15:38Speaker 3: That is how you set yourself apart from another team
- 15:42Speaker 3: that has a better offense overall?
- 15:45Speaker 2: Is that lay because it'd be easy.
- 15:47Speaker 3: To go into that park and they had a bad
- 15:49Speaker 3: couple of games and say, oh, that's the ballpark. But
- 15:52Speaker 3: they the marriage started to staff particularly did such a
- 15:55Speaker 3: great job that you have to you have to pat
- 15:59Speaker 3: him on the back of that and acknowledge.
- 16:01Speaker 1: That they stopped Nick Kurtz's streaker reaching base forty eight
- 16:04Speaker 1: consecutive games, which I mean that was like up in
- 16:07Speaker 1: athletics history, going back to Kansas City and Philadelphia A's
- 16:11Speaker 1: last week. So you can, Dan, you bring up a
- 16:16Speaker 1: good point about Brennan Donovan Luke. And now when Cayl
- 16:20Speaker 1: Rawley comes back, do you bring him back up to
- 16:23Speaker 1: the number two spot and Juli were down to three?
- 16:25Speaker 1: How about batting order when they get the lineup back
- 16:27Speaker 1: the hole.
- 16:29Speaker 3: You know, I'm not a big batting order guy, but
- 16:31Speaker 3: I will say I didn't understand like the timing last
- 16:36Speaker 3: year when they moved him up. When they moved cal
- 16:39Speaker 3: Rawley up to number two, didn't make sense to me
- 16:42Speaker 3: because he was so hot so early. But they waited
- 16:45Speaker 3: quite a while. And I you know, conspiracy guy that
- 16:48Speaker 3: I am, sometimes it's like, oh, they moved him up
- 16:51Speaker 3: to number two because they really wanted to get that
- 16:53Speaker 3: home run record. So if he's up, hitting early in
- 16:56Speaker 3: the order, he gets more shots at home runs.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And it did work out, he.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Did hit the home runs. I would think he's better
- 17:03Speaker 3: suited to be a little lower in the lineup, you know,
- 17:05Speaker 3: number four, number five, somewhere in there. I wouldn't mess
- 17:08Speaker 3: with Julio for sure. I like Naylor in the four
- 17:12Speaker 3: three four spot. Uh, Randy's doing very well. I mean,
- 17:17Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 17:17Speaker 2: You want to mess with good things.
- 17:19Speaker 3: And you know, if you put Cal in five or four,
- 17:23Speaker 3: you can push the other, you know, Randy down or
- 17:26Speaker 3: Cal the five, and then you can push Cole Young
- 17:29Speaker 3: down a little get lower, which is probably a good
- 17:31Speaker 3: thing too.

- 20:49Speaker 1: music means it's time for you to be a part
- 20:50Speaker 1: of the show. On the Tacoma Dodge text line four nine,
- 20:53Speaker 1: four or five.
- 20:54Speaker 4: One from Marcus out of the two O six, I
- 20:58Speaker 4: didn't even realize boy was gone until I realized, oh
- 21:03Speaker 4: we did lose him.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Yeah, they didn't realize he was on the team. There's
- 21:08Speaker 1: a lot of text about the mid nineties Sonics. We
- 21:12Speaker 1: replaying that today is the thirtieth anniversary of them winning
- 21:15Speaker 1: Game seven of the Western Conference Finals over Carl Malone
- 21:17Speaker 1: and the Jazz on June the second, nineteen ninety six.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I got him into the NBA Finals against Michael Jordan's
- 21:23Speaker 1: Bulls and Key Arena just off the hook four to five.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Early to mid nineties Sonics teams are my favorite of
- 21:30Speaker 1: all time. My dad took me to playoff games in
- 21:33Speaker 1: each one of those runs. Priceless memories they were there
- 21:38Speaker 1: was the building was so loud. There's a text in
- 21:41Speaker 1: here about this. I'm trying to find it for you.
- 21:44Speaker 4: From Andy out the two o six A key word
- 21:48Speaker 4: from Greg question mark, my day is complete? Yeah, how
- 21:52Speaker 4: long is this contest? I'm not gonna tell you, Greg
- 21:55Speaker 4: A long time. I'm not gonna tell you. You're just gonna
- 21:57Speaker 4: You're just gonna have to, you know, see a paper
- 21:59Speaker 4: every day for a while and we'll go from there.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Chris always reminds me, He points at that, how I'm talking, Hey, keyword? Yeah. Now,
- 22:08Speaker 1: we have a two hundred and fifty thousand dollars giveaway
- 22:11Speaker 1: USA giveaway twenty five hundred dollars each time we mention it.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Eight am, eleven AM, two pm five pm for a
- 22:19Speaker 1: nationwide keyword to enter at ninety three KJR home this hour.
- 22:22Speaker 1: The word is America. One of my Navy friends said,
- 22:26Speaker 1: I better spell America for my army buddies. We know
- 22:30Speaker 1: a little shot there right amy r K. He's I
- 22:35Speaker 1: messed up? He's OK? Or whatever? Am I see? Yes?
- 22:43Speaker 1: I just proved the Navy man's point there or Navy
- 22:45Speaker 1: woman's point. Enter America at our website right now this
- 22:49Speaker 1: hour for your chance to win twenty five hundred dollars.
- 22:52Speaker 1: I could use that. Yeah. The two six said that
- 22:56Speaker 1: ninety six Sonic season was literally like having forty one
- 22:59Speaker 1: home Seahawks games in the same season. Every home game
- 23:03Speaker 1: was must watch TV watch parties all times of the week.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That's true. We used to have people come over to
- 23:08Speaker 1: our bachelor Lieutenant Pat and the house we rented on
- 23:11Speaker 1: Dashpoint Way and Federal Away when I was a lieutenant
- 23:15Speaker 1: at Fort Lewis. I told you we had season tickets
- 23:17Speaker 1: the year they were at the Tacomadome, the year the
- 23:19Speaker 1: KI Arena was getting renovated. That was the year before
- 23:23Speaker 1: they went to the NBA Finals. That was Key Arena's
- 23:25Speaker 1: first year. If I'm not mistaken, might be wrong about that,
- 23:28Speaker 1: might be second year. I thought it was ninety five?
- 23:31Speaker 1: Was when there Maybe ninety four, but ninety five they
- 23:33Speaker 1: were in the Tacomadome for a year. We'll have to
- 23:37Speaker 1: do some googling on that nine to seven ones that
- 23:39Speaker 1: I went to games during those years. Still to this
- 23:41Speaker 1: day the loudest stadium I've ever been to. Barkley still
- 23:44Speaker 1: talks about how loud it was here. Let me tell
- 23:46Speaker 1: you so it was loud. I could barely hear about
- 23:48Speaker 1: soft thiek pretty good Chris from the two six.
- 23:51Speaker 4: I bet the twenty twenty six Rams flame out like
- 23:54Speaker 4: the was a good one. The twenty eleven Eagles dream team,
- 23:58Speaker 4: all the big acquisitions serve as a jinxa. That was
- 24:01Speaker 4: a That was a crazy year. Yeah, they got not
- 24:05Speaker 4: the cornerback awesome. I can not say his name, I
- 24:07Speaker 4: see his face. Not awesome, A thank you.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Nom me awesome on. I covered him. I covered him
- 24:11Speaker 1: when he's he was at Cow. I covered the Raiders
- 24:13Speaker 1: when they drafted Nomini Auso Wah who was terrible his
- 24:16Speaker 1: first couple years, couldn't eve get on the field. They
- 24:18Speaker 1: benched him. Ain't that being the highest paid cornerback in
- 24:20Speaker 1: the NFL. Yeah, that didn't work out too well that
- 24:24Speaker 1: whole season. Jason, two five three the South Sound got
- 24:28Speaker 1: the Rock to Dakomodome for at least a season in
- 24:31Speaker 1: the nineties. Got to see a couple of games that
- 24:32Speaker 1: you and I both did. Jason, I remember that two
- 24:35Speaker 1: five to three. Here's my sonic story. I got married
- 24:37Speaker 1: on June first, thirty years ago. Nice congratulations. Luckily for me,
- 24:42Speaker 1: I had the understanding wife and we postponed our honeymoon
- 24:46Speaker 1: until after the finals were over. My wife would not
- 24:48Speaker 1: have done that. Game seven against Utah was great. Are
- 24:52Speaker 1: two studs against theirs? Two studs? What a battle? If
- 24:55Speaker 1: I remember correctly, Sam Perkins had a lot of big
- 24:58Speaker 1: threes in that game and all season and a couple
- 25:00Speaker 1: of seasons Silky We called him silky smooth Sam Perkins Man,
- 25:04Speaker 1: That is an understanding spouse. Huh. Just delay your honeymoon
- 25:08Speaker 1: until a NBA series is over. And then what happened
- 25:11Speaker 1: when the final hit the delay it again? I don't
- 25:13Speaker 1: want to Yeah, that's tough. Good.
- 25:15Speaker 4: I got married when I got married because it was
- 25:16Speaker 4: the off season. It was March like no one. Unfortunately,
- 25:19Speaker 4: Gino got traded, so I had to work, but nonetheless
- 25:22Speaker 4: it wasn't Yeah it's I'm just gonna leave it at that.
- 25:26Speaker 1: That's an understanding spouse. Hopefully you're still married. Let's see.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Oh, here we go from the two O six Christopher
- 25:35Speaker 4: Kid question Mark born and raised in Seattle, O Day Wazoo,
- 25:39Speaker 4: biggest NBA supporter on air, Sonic stolen. When you were
- 25:43Speaker 4: a teenager and you have zero hatred for OKC? Were
- 25:48Speaker 4: you not a fan of the songs as a kid.
- 25:51Speaker 4: I was definitely a fan, but I was still under
- 25:53Speaker 4: I didn't even I was like, I just watched basketball.
- 25:55Speaker 1: I didn't understand it. I enjoyed it.
- 25:57Speaker 4: But as I got older, I realized, man, that was
- 26:00Speaker 4: something special that Seattle had here. And it's not that
- 26:03Speaker 4: I just dislike Okay, see, I guess I don't hate them.
- 26:05Speaker 4: I just I don't care. You know, they they moved on.
- 26:08Speaker 4: They did their thing. That's great. Now I can't wait
- 26:11Speaker 4: for a team to come back to Seattle so the
- 26:12Speaker 4: Sonics can do their thing and hopefully I can get
- 26:16Speaker 4: a championship out here before I you know, from ninety
- 26:19Speaker 4: that'd be cool. That's pretty nice. I think that you
- 26:21Speaker 4: suggest that.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's sixty two years from now.
- 26:24Speaker 4: I think that's a possibility, right, you know, shooting for
- 26:29Speaker 4: the Stars three to six out about that ninety six
- 26:33Speaker 4: Sonics Western Conference Game seven, Kiarina Shook.
- 26:36Speaker 1: That game was freaking amazing. It really was that the
- 26:41Speaker 1: whole environment, that whole season, but that series in particular,
- 26:44Speaker 1: the early round series Sacramento of the Spurs. Yeah, my
- 26:48Speaker 1: wife came out. We were living in the Bay Area
- 26:50Speaker 1: at the time, and she came out for a work
- 26:53Speaker 1: trip to the Seattle during the Spurs series, and I
- 26:57Speaker 1: believe that was the Western Conference semifinals, and they went
- 26:59Speaker 1: to a game and she said that nobody can believe
- 27:01Speaker 1: how loud it was the doctors in her group that
- 27:04Speaker 1: came up for some of the children's hospital here in
- 27:07Speaker 1: Seattle before we moved here. Now that must have been.
- 27:10Speaker 1: If it was before we moved here, that must have
- 27:12Speaker 1: been like ninety seven, ninety eight, after the Sonics had
- 27:15Speaker 1: already gone to the finals. So yes, just to reiterate,
- 27:19Speaker 1: this is a basketball town and when the basketball team
- 27:23Speaker 1: comes back, this will be a basketball town. Again, just
- 27:25Speaker 1: to reiterate. So whatever national people saying this isn't a
- 27:28Speaker 1: basketball town, I've never been here and don't know a
- 27:30Speaker 1: damn thing about Seattle.
- 27:32Speaker 4: This is interesting because we've had Luke on multiple times,
- 27:35Speaker 4: but today, for whatever reason, a couple people think that
- 27:39Speaker 4: your guest sounds like Greg Ball just putting on a
- 27:41Speaker 4: different voice.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I've never heard that one, Greg. Have you heard that.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I have that.
- 27:45Speaker 4: There's three or four people who have mentioned that. Yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 4: They're like, I think Greg's interviewing himself.
- 27:49Speaker 1: This is not Luke.
- 27:51Speaker 4: We haven't resorted to that yet. Yeah, hey, Chris, just
- 27:54Speaker 4: call this number. I'm going to ask myself a question
- 27:57Speaker 4: and then just give a different voice. What do you say.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Don't have any guest today. Shout out to Louke. Thanks
- 28:03Speaker 4: you for coming on, man. It's always fun talking man. Yes, sir,
- 28:06Speaker 4: even though I guess you guys have a little beef
- 28:08Speaker 4: between Navy and Army, so I'll stay out of that.
- 28:11Speaker 1: It's good nature. Until the second week of December.
- 28:15Speaker 4: We will not be having him on at any point
- 28:17Speaker 4: in December. If they win the World Series, I will
- 28:19Speaker 4: be yes, we won't.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I will be with Jessman McIntyre in New York City
- 28:23Speaker 1: in the second week of December the Friday for our
- 28:26Speaker 1: annual Army Navy Broadcast brought to you by USAA ninety
- 28:30Speaker 1: three point three kJ RFM. We'll be back there doing that.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Believe me. That's one of the first questions I asked
- 28:36Speaker 1: when they talk about the year ahead. Am I going
- 28:39Speaker 1: to the Army Navy again? Okay, I'll do it whatever
- 28:41Speaker 1: you want to do.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Last one for me, because I know we got a
- 28:45Speaker 4: couple of guys on deck, either Anderson or the mayor
- 28:49Speaker 4: from the two o six. I was the manager of
- 28:51Speaker 4: Pagliachi Pizza on Queen Ann North, and there's nothing better
- 28:56Speaker 4: for business than drunk, happy Sonics fans shout out to you,
- 29:01Speaker 4: sir or man.
- 29:02Speaker 1: That's really cool. If I'm not mistaken, Pagliochi Pizza still
- 29:05Speaker 1: has Sasquatch on its pizza boxes, don't they. I maybe
- 29:10Speaker 1: the Squatch. I know you're talking mascot, and so do
- 29:14Speaker 1: they at least used to. Somebody informed me on the
- 29:17Speaker 1: text line about that I haven't had pegs in it
- 29:20Speaker 1: in a bit.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Maybe per request. Hey, I want the Sasquatch on my shirt.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Problem.
- 29:24Speaker 1: We could get Pagliochi Pizza to sponsor us, and that
- 29:27Speaker 1: I can Whatever they have that wouldn't be healthy?
- 29:30Speaker 4: Would pizza every every Friday?
- 29:33Speaker 2: Oh?
- 29:33Speaker 1: Here you go guys, enjoy. Yeah, Greg, and you're out
- 29:36Speaker 1: there listening. Pagliochi pizza.
- 29:37Speaker 4: We could use the pizza sunt I'm not mad at it.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Who doesn't like pizza. By the way, we have a
- 29:44Speaker 4: couple of irons in the fire about you.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Some of you asked Brad Adam and Daniel Kramer is
- 29:49Speaker 1: being weekly guests on our show. We're just trying to
- 29:51Speaker 1: line up the red tape and the coming. Yes, that
- 29:55Speaker 1: would be weekly, both of them to talk Mariners on
- 29:57Speaker 1: a weekly basis. So and we'll bring Luke Parkins back
- 30:01Speaker 1: of course too.
- 30:02Speaker 4: Four nine December.
- 30:03Speaker 1: No, not during the army in eighty time four to
- 30:05Speaker 1: two five, says My best memories of the Sonics were
- 30:08Speaker 1: the eighty six the one that read Aarbach said would
- 30:12Speaker 1: not win and would finish in last place. We end
- 30:14Speaker 1: up beating Dallas in the Western Conference but lost to La.
- 30:19Speaker 1: See these Sonics broots go way back. We're talking eighty
- 30:21Speaker 1: six now, of course, seventy nine they won it all
- 30:24Speaker 1: over the Bullets, Gus Williams and Dennis Johnson and the
- 30:30Speaker 1: father of the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs. Yeah,
- 30:34Speaker 1: they're don't the legacy of basketball not just pro basketball,
- 30:39Speaker 1: but obviously high school basketball, college basketball. Heck Edmondson. I
- 30:43Speaker 1: mean it goes deep and deep and deep. People forget
- 30:47Speaker 1: about because the Sonics aren't here, but those of us
- 30:49Speaker 1: who've been here do not forget about it. Anderson Hurst
- 30:53Speaker 1: and or Ian Ferness will join me to tell me
- 30:55Speaker 1: what's up with their show from twelve until three. That's
- 30:58Speaker 1: next on ninety three point three kJ RFM. Welcome back
- 31:15Speaker 1: to the Greg Belt Show with Christopher kitt in ninety
- 31:17Speaker 1: three point three kJ RFM, where I am joined by
- 31:19Speaker 1: the Mayor and Maple Valley wearing his Seattle Supersonic circa
- 31:23Speaker 1: nineteen seventy eight or nine logo, the City Skyline and
- 31:27Speaker 1: the half. This isn't the logo. There's a problem.
- 31:29Speaker 6: I know everyone's paying tribute to the ninety sixteen. They
- 31:31Speaker 6: didn't win it. This is this is it.
- 31:34Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be that.
- 31:36Speaker 6: It should be no red, none of that nonsense.
- 31:40Speaker 1: He did like the earth tones it with the Passion.
- 31:43Speaker 1: That's when they dropped Super from the name too. They're
- 31:45Speaker 1: just yeah, they went through all that.
- 31:47Speaker 6: I but yeah, yeah, I do find it. We boy,
- 31:51Speaker 6: we love that. We love that ninety six team. In
- 31:53Speaker 6: this town, don't we I'm okay with it. They wouldn't win.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I don't know. Those people think it's because they ran
- 32:01Speaker 1: into some guy named Michael Jordan.
- 32:03Speaker 6: Well everyone did. I mean, the Blazers ran into him
- 32:04Speaker 6: a couple of times, The Sonics ran into him. Carl
- 32:07Speaker 6: and John ran into him.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, twelve years.
- 32:11Speaker 6: Yeah, it was unfortunate. They couldn't keep the Nice six
- 32:14Speaker 6: team togein. I know that's the unfortunate thing.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Guys like Hersey Hawkins and I mean glue dudes, And.
- 32:19Speaker 6: I joke because I mean, I'm just so partial the
- 32:20Speaker 6: seventy nine team because I'm old and I remember that
- 32:22Speaker 6: team winning. But I mean the Nice six team. The
- 32:24Speaker 6: problem the Nice six team. I think the path to
- 32:28Speaker 6: get to the finals for those teams I just mentioned.
- 32:32Speaker 6: The Blazers were great, The Jazz were great, The Sonics
- 32:35Speaker 6: were great. There was a Phoenix mixed in there for
- 32:37Speaker 6: a while. The West was so flipping good. You get
- 32:42Speaker 6: there and you're like, yeah, like, you're okay, well, and meanwhile,
- 32:48Speaker 6: Chicago's just waltzing.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Through the East pind of nuts in the bullets.
- 32:51Speaker 6: That's fine, here we go. Mike's just kind of taking
- 32:54Speaker 6: a nap right. Let me wake me up when we
- 32:56Speaker 6: get to the finals. But yeah, so how are you
- 32:59Speaker 6: going on?
- 33:00Speaker 1: Everything's good, busy June starts of June crazy. That was.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I think everyone's now realizing that this was not a
- 33:08Speaker 1: cracking story as much as was a sonic story.
- 33:10Speaker 6: They it just got caught in the wake. You know,
- 33:13Speaker 6: it's unfortunate that it broke yesterday on June first. The
- 33:18Speaker 6: NHL isn't the smartest.
- 33:20Speaker 1: League in the world. Were they doing it to try
- 33:22Speaker 1: to get it before the finals started? Yes, we're talking
- 33:25Speaker 1: about Melinda French game.
- 33:26Speaker 6: Giving it to ESPN. Yes, games are on ABC for
- 33:30Speaker 6: the finals. Yes, bat minhim Daily are talking today. Yes,
- 33:34Speaker 6: I understand all that. June first is always a big
- 33:38Speaker 6: day in the NFL. We didn't know Miles Garrett's gonna
- 33:40Speaker 6: get traded, but there was gonna be stuff going on
- 33:43Speaker 6: right first day after with the cap stuff and all that.
- 33:46Speaker 1: And eight minutes before Emily Kaplin's story posted about Melinda
- 33:51Speaker 1: French Games.
- 33:52Speaker 6: So it's unfortunate because yeah, I think I think what
- 33:54Speaker 6: got lost yesterday was what you just said.
- 33:58Speaker 1: This is.
- 34:00Speaker 6: A small part of it's the Kraken. The big part
- 34:02Speaker 6: of it is if you you were wondering about investors
- 34:06Speaker 6: for an NBA franchise to be paired up with Samantha Hallway.
- 34:09Speaker 6: Well were you don't have to wonder anymore.
- 34:11Speaker 1: And you know Adam Silver and the boys in the
- 34:14Speaker 1: NBA were aware of this. This isn't catching them by
- 34:16Speaker 1: surprise that Melinda.
- 34:18Speaker 6: My favorite thing is is the line of I don't
- 34:21Speaker 6: get myself in trouble. My favorite thing is pending NHL approval,
- 34:29Speaker 6: what are we going to improve?
- 34:30Speaker 1: Well, who are we that?
- 34:33Speaker 6: That's making an assumption that Gary Bettman and the NHL
- 34:38Speaker 6: haven't been aware for a while now that Melinda French
- 34:42Speaker 6: Gates is going to be involved with the Kraken and
- 34:45Speaker 6: at the same time down the street that the NBA
- 34:47Speaker 6: offices weren't aware of that either, right, really pending NHL approval.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Harry Bettman has been doing cartwheels when we heard the
- 34:55Speaker 6: name Gates involved with his league for the last however
- 34:58Speaker 6: a long he's known about it. And yeah, I mean,
- 35:00Speaker 6: hopefully Emily Tackles, she's on the broadcast. Hopefully shed bring
- 35:03Speaker 6: it up tonight, because I think that's what it is.
- 35:05Speaker 6: It's first of all, it's great to the crack and
- 35:07Speaker 6: get her involved. I like her what her comments were
- 35:10Speaker 6: about the about the you know, passionate sports fans in Seattle.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It's true.
- 35:14Speaker 6: The other part of it is like you have this
- 35:17Speaker 6: this powerful duel of women that could be running the
- 35:23Speaker 6: two winter teams in this city. Like I mean, I'm
- 35:27Speaker 6: guessing here, but Samantha Halloway is your you know, runs
- 35:33Speaker 6: and basically for all intents purpose owns the building, the
- 35:36Speaker 6: CPA and the Kraken, and she's a minority owner in
- 35:40Speaker 6: the new NBA franchise. The majority owner is Melinda French Gates,
- 35:46Speaker 6: who's also minority owned the Kraken. What I think about that, like,
- 35:49Speaker 6: how like that's a that's a powerful statement, and how
- 35:52Speaker 6: if you're a league you say no to that?
- 35:54Speaker 1: And well for the NBA, what would stop those two
- 35:57Speaker 1: powerful women from calling perhaps Mackenzie's right, yeah, and having
- 36:02Speaker 1: them join the team or the tea.
- 36:04Speaker 6: Or does Jody Allen want to get back into the
- 36:07Speaker 6: world of sports ownership in a small way too once
- 36:09Speaker 6: once the Seahawks sale goes through, or is she going
- 36:12Speaker 6: to be involved with that somehow?
- 36:14Speaker 1: M h.
- 36:14Speaker 6: I mean, I think all those things should be and
- 36:17Speaker 6: probably are on the table. I like the other thing
- 36:21Speaker 6: is is that knowing a little bit about Samantha Halloway
- 36:25Speaker 6: and just hearing more and more about Milinda french Case,
- 36:28Speaker 6: they're not people that want to absorb losing franchises. I
- 36:34Speaker 6: think the pressure to win is greater than it's ever
- 36:37Speaker 6: been out at CACI, and I think the pressure to
- 36:41Speaker 6: make that Sonics team when it does come back competitive
- 36:43Speaker 6: as soon as possible.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Will be there as well. And we've talked about him.
- 36:47Speaker 6: This isn't just an investment for them, Like if you
- 36:49Speaker 6: get the guy from London buying a team or whatever, whatever,
- 36:53Speaker 6: it's I bought an investment. The team's going to get
- 36:55Speaker 6: good if they aren't whatever. But here's at the end
- 36:57Speaker 6: of the day, what matters is that the appreciation about
- 36:59Speaker 6: it goes up, and that's I'm making my money and
- 37:01Speaker 6: all that. These these two are so invested in the
- 37:04Speaker 6: community that I think that that matters more in terms
- 37:08Speaker 6: of wins and losses and making sure the community is
- 37:10Speaker 6: proud of your franchise because of what they're accomplishing.
- 37:12Speaker 1: By the way, about the London guy, there is a
- 37:14Speaker 1: lot of talk that I'm hearing about the Seahawks sale
- 37:18Speaker 1: that there is a local buyer that everyone would be
- 37:22Speaker 1: very happy to find local within the city of Seattle
- 37:26Speaker 1: from but not necessarily living here at the moment.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Thank you, you could connect your own Donter. There is
- 37:32Speaker 6: a lot of talk greg the journalists not ready to
- 37:35Speaker 6: put the name out there just yet.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Supposition on my part.
- 37:38Speaker 6: I think it's pretty easy to figure out and to
- 37:40Speaker 6: do who that is. That would be huge, That.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Would be gigantic, and that would allay of a lot
- 37:45Speaker 1: of people's concerns about who the new owner is.
- 37:47Speaker 6: If it was said person that you're alluding to, Melinda Frenchgates,
- 37:53Speaker 6: Samantha Holloway as our owners outside will take the marries
- 37:57Speaker 6: off the table for a second. They're fine, They're doing
- 37:58Speaker 6: their thing, and they keep winning, they lose again the show.
- 38:03Speaker 6: That would be a pretty powerful set of ownership and
- 38:06Speaker 6: what new owners actually say new ownership here, what leagues.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Would not want that they'd wind up to sign up
- 38:12Speaker 1: for that.
- 38:13Speaker 6: So I think, like yesterday with with her announcement, I mean,
- 38:16Speaker 6: it's how long have we Every time there's a franchise
- 38:19Speaker 6: for sale, you hear the name Gates, usually Bill Right,
- 38:23Speaker 6: Bezos and Gates, Bezos and Gates. Well, Mackenzie Scott or
- 38:27Speaker 6: Melinda Gates seem to be a lot more interested in
- 38:28Speaker 6: sports franchises. I don't know, McKenzie, but like that. You
- 38:31Speaker 6: want that level of person involved in your league, right right, So, yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 6: it was a good day yesterday in that regard, and
- 38:37Speaker 6: then kind of offset that so it's not so good
- 38:39Speaker 6: day if you're if you're the local NFL team.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Well, they make a move today with Derek Hall, and
- 38:44Speaker 1: that is a foundational player move and a culture move,
- 38:48Speaker 1: as I brought up earlier. But I'm sure you'll talk
- 38:50Speaker 1: a little bit about that today. What do you got
- 38:51Speaker 1: going today? We're gonna We're gonna.
- 38:53Speaker 6: Jump I'm gonna jump into the Russell Wilson rabbit hole
- 38:56Speaker 6: a little bit. I just I just want to get
- 38:59Speaker 6: the little feed back on how he's how he's perceived here.
- 39:03Speaker 6: I mean, listen, if we're being honest, he's done, like
- 39:08Speaker 6: the whole were, Oh maybe he'd come back, or he's done.
- 39:11Speaker 1: If he had an offer to play, he'd play this year,
- 39:13Speaker 1: he would play.
- 39:13Speaker 6: He took this job because and really I think for him,
- 39:17Speaker 6: he's done because he knows he's not going to be
- 39:19Speaker 6: a starter in the league.
- 39:20Speaker 1: That's not that recency bias getting away. He's one of
- 39:23Speaker 1: the best players in Seattle sports history. Yes, he has
- 39:25Speaker 1: a legacy here that should not be tarnished by what
- 39:27Speaker 1: happened after he left or how he left, in my opinion.
- 39:31Speaker 6: And that's and that's what I'm gonna ask today, because
- 39:32Speaker 6: I think I differ a little bit. I didn't like
- 39:36Speaker 6: how he left. I didn't like how I don't like.
- 39:39Speaker 6: I do know that this is probably the most forgiving
- 39:42Speaker 6: franchise in the history of all sports. I mean, listen,
- 39:44Speaker 6: Richard Sherman, welcome back with open arms, Marshawn Lynch, welcome
- 39:48Speaker 6: back in the Ring of honor. All all those things
- 39:53Speaker 6: should happen. But I'm kind of curious how he's perceived
- 39:55Speaker 6: by the fans. We we have a different perception because
- 39:58Speaker 6: we were around him all the time. I wonder what
- 40:01Speaker 6: the fans perceive. I think the Hall of Fame candidacy
- 40:04Speaker 6: is a really interesting debate too. I don't think he
- 40:06Speaker 6: is a Hall of Famer, and it has nothing to
- 40:08Speaker 6: do with what happened the last few years. It has
- 40:10Speaker 6: everything to do with what happened the previous years when
- 40:12Speaker 6: he was in his prime. The whole Pro Bowl thing
- 40:14Speaker 6: is a joke. He was an alternate. I think what
- 40:17Speaker 6: six of the eight times or something like that. So yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 6: so it's.
- 40:21Speaker 1: No all pro, no all pro. It's it's amazing that
- 40:24Speaker 1: if he throws the touchdown instead of the interception of
- 40:26Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler. He's a Hall of Famer.
- 40:28Speaker 6: And that's the key the one super Bowl And if
- 40:30Speaker 6: you look at the Hall of Fame list of quarterbacks,
- 40:32Speaker 6: Trent and the guys that are in, Yeah, the guys
- 40:37Speaker 6: that are in, most of them have multiple Yes, that's
- 40:40Speaker 6: true almost all, so Will kind of.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Is largely based on that.
- 40:45Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'm with you. He's one of the first
- 40:48Speaker 6: of all, they don't win a Super Bowl without the
- 40:50Speaker 6: period of a story like that's I'll they just don't.
- 40:53Speaker 6: And if you say, well, what if they have Tom
- 40:55Speaker 6: Brady will stop.
- 40:55Speaker 1: It and they wouldn't have gotten back to the second one. No, No,
- 40:58Speaker 1: he was great.
- 41:00Speaker 6: But there's a lot, there's a lot to on pack
- 41:02Speaker 6: with sure. So we're going to get to rus today
- 41:04Speaker 6: a little bit. Yeah, as we as we kind of
- 41:06Speaker 6: put a bow on the Russell Wilson NFL career. So yeah,
- 41:09Speaker 6: we'll do that and Mariner's talk and some other stuff.
- 41:11Speaker 6: Joe she In at one twenty and John Lund, who's
- 41:14Speaker 6: doing doing some filling work in Arizona and on Westwood
- 41:17Speaker 6: One on the National Network of course, the former studio
- 41:19Speaker 6: hosts for the forty nine ers. We'll talk a little
- 41:21Speaker 6: bit about Miles Garrett and whatever the hell's going on
- 41:22Speaker 6: with the with the Rams.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Yeah, the nighter is probably not a good day for them.
- 41:27Speaker 6: Yesterday either, No, no one had a good day in
- 41:29Speaker 6: the NFC West except for the Rams, so we'll talk
- 41:31Speaker 6: about that.
- 41:31Speaker 1: At least the Cardinals are fighting with Jacobe Brissett's that
- 41:34Speaker 1: makes sense, and fornesz Anderson hers. I'll be with you
- 41:37Speaker 1: from twelve until three, Greg Bell, the News Tribute and
- 41:39Speaker 1: Christopher thanks for listening. We'll do it again tomorrow on
- 41:42Speaker 1: ninety three point three k j RFM
