- Lucas: Ciao and welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Today we're going to the park again — but this time, we're feeding the ducks. Lucas: That's right. A nice, relaxing activity. And it's a great chance to learn some new Italian phrases. Luna: I love ducks. They're so cute. So what's the first thing I'd say if I want to feed them? Lucas: You can say 'Vorrei dare da mangiare alle anatre.' That means 'I'd like to feed the ducks.' Luna: Vorrei dare da mangiare alle anatre. That's a mouthful. Vorrei dare da mangiare alle anatre. Lucas: Perfect. 'Vorrei' is 'I would like', 'dare da mangiare' is 'to feed', and 'alle anatre' means 'to the ducks'. Luna: So 'Vorrei dare da mangiare alle anatre.' Let me try again. Vorrei dare da mangiare alle anatre. Lucas: Exactly. Now, if you need to buy bread for the ducks, you might ask 'Quanto costa il pane per le anatre?' — 'How much is the bread for the ducks?' That's useful. So 'pane' is bread, 'per le anatre' is for the ducks. Lucas: Yes. 'Quanto costa' is 'how much does it cost', which you already know from our train station episode. Luna: Right. Quanto costa il pane per le anatre? I can see myself using that. Lucas: Good. Now imagine you're watching the ducks. You could say 'Le anatre sono simpatiche' — 'The ducks are nice.' Luna: Le anatre sono simpatiche. That's sweet. Anatre simpatiche. Lucas: Yes. 'Simpatico' means nice or likeable. So 'Le anatre sono simpatiche' — the ducks are nice. Luna: I like that. Le anatre sono simpatiche. Okay, what if I want to ask permission? Like 'Can I feed the ducks?' Lucas: You can say 'Posso dare da mangiare alle anatre?' 'Posso' means 'can I', so it's 'Can I feed the ducks?' Luna: Posso dare da mangiare alle anatre? That's really practical. So 'Posso dare da mangiare alle anatre?' Lucas: Exactly. And finally, while you're there, you might notice the pond. You could say 'Il lago è bellissimo' — 'The lake is beautiful.' Luna: Il lago è bellissimo. 'Bellissimo' means very beautiful, right? Like 'bello' but stronger. Lucas: Yes. 'Bellissimo' is an intensifier. So 'Il lago è bellissimo' — the lake is gorgeous. Luna: Il lago è bellissimo. I can imagine saying that while looking at a nice lake. Lucas: Let's do a quick recap. Lucas: And fifth: Il lago è bellissimo. Luna: Il lago è bellissimo. Lucas: Great. So now let's imagine a little scene. You're at a park in Italy. You see a sign that says 'Pane per anatre' — bread for ducks. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. So I'd say 'Vorrei dare da mangiare alle anatre.' Lucas: And then you'd ask 'Quanto costa il pane per le anatre?' Right. And then I'd buy some bread and feed them. Lucas: And while you do, you say 'Le anatre sono simpatiche.' And later, by the pond, 'Il lago è bellissimo.' Luna: That's a nice little story. I feel like I could actually do this now. Lucas: That's the goal. And you know, if episodes like this help you feel more confident in real situations, that's exactly what Fexingo is for. Luna: Totally. And if today was useful to you, the way these stay ad-free is listener support — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Yeah, it really helps us keep going. Every bit makes a difference. Luna: So let's practice one more time. I'll be the person at the park. Lucas: And I'll sell you the bread. 'Certo, costa due euro.' Luna: Quanto costa il pane per le anatre? Oh, you already answered. Let me try again... 'Quanto costa il pane per le anatre?' Lucas: 'Due euro.' And then you give the money and feed them. Luna: Le anatre sono simpatiche. And then I walk to the lake and say 'Il lago è bellissimo.' Lucas: Perfect. You've just had a full conversation at an Italian park. Luna: This is so much fun. I can't wait to use these phrases. Lucas: Practice them a few times, and they'll stick. Grazie for joining us today. Luna: And if you want to support us, you know the link. Practice these phrases till we chat again. Ciao! Lucas: Ciao!
