Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: The liberal globalist order is on its brink and awakening a new conservative age.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Steve Turley, join me every day as we discover answers to today's toughest challenges and explore the re-bondalization of conservative civilization.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: This is Turley Talks.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: Iceland just delivered a gut punch to Brussels.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: The EU was suffered yet another humiliating defeat, but it wasn't just in a referendum.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: Hey gang, it's me, Dr. Steve, your Patriot Professor.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: And we're gonna see the latest political earthquake to rock the European continent.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: And we're gonna see precisely why the whole rotten EU project is starting to crumble right before our very eyes.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Iceland has been toying with the idea of becoming a full member of the EU for years now.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: They actually first applied to join back in 2009, but talks stalled and were suspended in 2013 over disputes like fishing rights with later Icelandic governments agreeing that any resumption required public approval via a referendum.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that is exactly what we saw this past.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: rising Arctic tensions, Trump's terror threats and Greenland ambitions, they've all combined to make Iceland's geopolitical position feel more urgent along with Iceland's rather high inflation and a volatile currency that was fueling economic arguments for the EU and possible euro adoption.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: So, the vote yesterday
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Frankly, it wasn't about joining the EU outright.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: It was a referendum on whether to just reopen accession talks, but it soon became something much more.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: It became a referendum on their national sovereignty.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: Now if you don't know, Iceland already gets a pretty sweet deal with Europe without being a full EU member.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: So through the European economic area, the EEA, they get access to the European market, they get all the benefits of what's called the shengen agreement that gives Icelanders passport-free travel all across the continent.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: So they're basically treated as a full member, but without any of the hassles that come from being a formal member, like immigrant refugee,
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: This vote was never Europe versus isolation like the globalist media wanted them to believe.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: It was, frankly, a simple question is giving up your sovereignty, particularly your fishing waters and your national identity.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: Is it worth it?
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: Do you really want your unique culture customs and traditions absorbed into a liberal, globalist, managerial order that will dictate to you how you can govern your nation?
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: So yesterday, Icelanders went to the polls and mass.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: It was an 83% turn out of registered voters, nearly a quarter of a million.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: And boy, did they make their voice
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: 53% of Icelanders told the EU to shove it, and I mean shove it, they didn't even want to enter into discussions on the very possibility of accession.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Again, that's what made this referendum such a slap in the face for the EU.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: They thought there would be,
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: very little opposition to just the resumption of talks.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's all this referendum was.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was just supposed to be a green light to just pick up where things ended to decade or so ago.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: But no, a majority of Icelanders didn't even want the issue of EU membership considered let along resumed talks.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's where it gets interesting because Brussels didn't just lose an economic argument.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: They actually lost an entire security pitch.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: See, the EU has been desperately trying to rebrand itself, not as a trade block anymore, but as a geopolitical actor.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: So the EU is trying to present themselves as a shield against Russia, you know, a hedge against instability against what they're calling an increasingly dangerous world in the light.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: Iceland looked at that pitch and they frankly laughed at it.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I still haven't already a member of NATO, but in fact, they're a founding member of NATO.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: And it already has a defense agreement with the United States.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Brussels had nothing to offer on security.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, zero.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: And Icelanders knew it.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: One EU policy analyst actually admitted it.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: He said the EU simply did not offer any unique security guarantees at all, zip-o-nata.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: They tried, instead, more or less scare,
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: a small island nation in the joining with talk of a possible Russian invasion or artic instability.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: And Icelanders were like, what the heck are you going to do about it?
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Seriously, what are you?
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: Europe going to do about any of that?
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: No one fears Europe, soft, secular Europe and its commitment to stale managerialism isn't a threat to anyone and we already got
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: security guarantees from the U.S. What do we need you for?
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: All the talk of light, too.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: This was another issue that came up.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like French President and Manuel Macron, there's been talk of Brussels building up its own European army.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: That actually made things a lot worse for those who wanted to join the EU because Icelanders were like,
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: you know, we don't want to be dragged into mandatory military service for some European super state that we never wanted to join in the first place, right?
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing rallies a proud independent nation against you faster than threatening to draft their songs for your globalist project.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: and that was really more or less the heart of the no campaign.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: They were arguing that voters couldn't know what specifically they were saying yes to since Iceland wouldn't know EU terms until deep into negotiations.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: The no-side channeled Iceland's long-standing EU skepticism.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: And fisheries, fears, were central to that skepticism, warnings that membership meant losing control over fishing quotas and opening Icelandic waters to foreign companies.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: These became the campaign's defining argument against this referendum side by many voters as they're deciding reason.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: But here's the part the legacy media doesn't want you connecting because Iceland's rejection isn't an isolated event.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a symptom of something much bigger, something that the bullies and Brussels are openly beginning to panic about, as a painfully realized, it's already too late.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: One of the most important things you can do for your home and your family is be prepared before an emergency ever happens, because when something goes wrong, when a fire starts, the last thing you want to be doing is scrambling for some complicated solution.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: In moments like that, you need something simple, fast, practical, and ready to go.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: And that's exactly what I want to tell you about the Sierra Modry Fire Blanket.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: Now, what I love about this is just how easy it is to use.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: You simply pull it out using
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: these straps and then you unfold it.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to unfold everything.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty big, but you get it and then you place it over the flames and that's it.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: No complicated instructions, no special training, right?
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: No pressure gauges to check, no chemicals, no maintenance and
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: no complicated operation.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's lightweight, easy to carry, and it's compact enough to keep close by without taking up a bunch of space, and that makes it especially valuable in the kitchen.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: We're so many household fires start, but it's not just for your kitchen, you can keep one in your
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: car, your RV, your camper, your boat, and your emergency kit next to the barbecue.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, it's one of those simple tools that gives you real peace of mind wherever life takes you.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: The Sierra Mondry Fire Blanket is made from 100% fiberglass fabric and it works by cutting off oxygen to the flames.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: No charging, no batteries, no waiting.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's always ready whenever you need it.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're looking for a simple,

- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: Ladies and gentlemen, Dad, it's a shame that the door is breaking on the independent United Kingdom.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: June 23rd, 2016, the night that sent a political earthquake throughout Europe, Brexit.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: More Brits voted to leave the EU than had ever voted in a previous UK election.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: Brexit was the first time in the history of the European project.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: when a member state chose to leave rather than join the first time a major globalist institution began to shrink rather than expand.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: And Brussels frankly never really recovered from that humiliation.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Now that's not to say that there aren't countries that want in.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: But have you seen the list?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: Albania?
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Bosnia, Moldova, what's left of Ukraine, right?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: Notice a pattern?
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Not a single wealthy stable, economically vibrant nation or that Switzerland ain't interested.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: Norway ain't in Mexico, certainly not the UK, none of them.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: Rich, independent, self-sufficient nations of Europe want nothing to do with the EU.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Norway's rejected EU membership in two separate referendums shows zero appetite to try again.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: And now Iceland, a wealthy, stable, high-functioning Nordic democracy with one of the best living standards on the planet.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: They just told Brussels to shove it for the second time in a decade.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: You see, this is the story nobody in the legacy media wants to tell you.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: The European Union used to be an aspirational club for wealthy, successful nations wanting to join.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's turning into a subsidy program for struggling economies, propped up by countries like Ukraine and Moldova who need the EU's money and protection, while the nations who could actually stand on their own to feed or running for the eggs that's a refusing to walk in.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not just Iceland.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: across the continent, populist and sovereignty movements are gaining ground, questioning Brussels authority over immigration, over energy policy, over fishing rights, over farming, the exact same issues that just sank Iceland's referendum.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: France has its own frexit voices, hungry and pollinists spent years locked in open conflict with Brussels over sovereignty and now even
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: just prove that when given the choice, free people will choose independence over integration.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: And so this is the bigger picture of what happened yesterday.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: The European Union sold itself for decades as the inevitable future and unstoppable march toward an ever closer union.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: But inevitability requires momentum, and right now the EU has none.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: It lost its second largest economy in Brexit.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's wealthiest potential members keep saying no.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's only growth is coming from countries that frankly need Brussels far more than Brussels needs them.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: Even the referendum itself exposed deep divide inside Iceland.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: So Reykjavik, the cosmopolitan capital, they voted to reopen talks, but almost every other region of the country voted no.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's the same, globalist versus people, you know, the globalist elite versus the everyday people split that we've seen play out and Brexit and the Trump elections and populist movements from Italy to Argentina, the political class wants integration and control while ordinary citizens want sovereignty and self-determination.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: So what happens now?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, for the moment the EU door is closed, Iceland still keeps its E.E.A.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: access.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: They keep their sheng and travel.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: They keep their NATO alliance, obviously, with the United States.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: And they keep their sovereignty.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: And their full control over their fishing and, you know, immigration policy and the like.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: Things will continue to go on as they have for Iceland.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: But for the EU, they lost more than just a vote.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: They lost their founding myth, a myth of an unstoppable European superstate absorbing the entire continent.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: That myth is officially dead, slain by a tiny island nation that's proven once again.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: National sovereignty is the true wave of the future, a sovereignty that will be chosen and defended every single time.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: Before you go, don't let the mainstream control your weekend mood.
