- 1:10Speaker 1: this your most rewarding season ever with FanDuel. And we
- 1:14Speaker 1: are going to get straight into it. The Dallas Cowboys
- 1:19Speaker 1: versus the Green Bay Packers. Where do I even start?
- 1:23Speaker 1: I could start with the officiating, how horrible it is
- 1:26Speaker 1: with the Dallas Cowboys, how bad they look on offense.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I just think, in general... like the Dallas Cowboys, they
- 1:36Speaker 1: got completely outcoached. They got completely outplayed. Jonathan Gannon, the
- 1:42Speaker 1: defensive coordinator for the Packers, ran laps around Shoddy all
- 1:47Speaker 1: night long. Jerry Jones, like, look, I hate to say
- 1:53Speaker 1: this because it is the players on the football field,
- 1:56Speaker 1: but we got to get something going. Like we, this is,
- 2:00Speaker 1: this is such a bad look On the owner, Shadi,
- 2:04Speaker 1: the last two weeks, the Bucs, the offense, you've scored
- 2:07Speaker 1: 16 points versus Tampa Bay. You score seven points. Sorry,
- 2:12Speaker 1: you score like two touchdowns tonight. Like, I don't understand
- 2:18Speaker 1: what has happened to this offense. Average 30.5 points per
- 2:23Speaker 1: game through week four. Shadi, your record as a head
- 2:28Speaker 1: coach is 9-13-1. I don't know what the fix is
- 2:31Speaker 1: in Dallas. Like, I don't know. Let's talk about the
- 2:36Speaker 1: defense first for Dallas. That's what I want to talk to.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Dallas brought in Mike Pettin to help the defense. And honestly,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I thought they played pretty well tonight. Three sacks, an
- 2:47Speaker 1: interception tonight. Dee Winters got his first interception of the season.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And boy, I thought it was a pick six. That
- 2:52Speaker 1: would have really, really helped them. Dallas only had five
- 2:56Speaker 1: sacks heading into tonight. I thought the defensive line played
- 2:59Speaker 1: really well. I thought Christian Parker actually called pressures when
- 3:02Speaker 1: they needed. Here's my thing about the defense, though. When
- 3:08Speaker 1: you are calling pressures, I hate when teams go like
- 3:12Speaker 1: three deep, three under, meaning there's three deep safeties or sorry,
- 3:16Speaker 1: there's a deep safety. There's two corners and then three
- 3:18Speaker 1: guys underneath. I think it's the worst coverage in the world.
- 3:20Speaker 1: It's called a zone pressure. And because Green Bay was
- 3:23Speaker 1: in such condensed formations, they had to continually zone pressure
- 3:27Speaker 1: or they when they did it, it became zone instead
- 3:29Speaker 1: of a man pressure. And there are Packers running scot-free
- 3:34Speaker 1: open all night long. The Packers, I think, were 9
- 3:36Speaker 1: of 10 on third down. Dallas is over 50% conversion rate,
- 3:42Speaker 1: allowing it. They're the worst in the NFL. And they
- 3:46Speaker 1: just couldn't stop. Jordan Love, they played well enough, but
- 3:51Speaker 1: not good enough. And I just think when your offense
- 3:55Speaker 1: is playing as bad right now as the Cowboys' offense are,
- 4:01Speaker 1: Like you, you can't, Dak, like I broke you down
- 4:04Speaker 1: on the breakdown. We did a bunch of different things.
- 4:07Speaker 1: This is supposed to be the greatest offense of all time.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But you had like two interceptions. You really should have
- 4:14Speaker 1: had a third interception, but it's the worst. I don't
- 4:16Speaker 1: know if you guys saw that. It's the absolute worst
- 4:19Speaker 1: roughing the passer call I've ever seen in my entire life.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And then Booker, the offensive line, the unnecessary roughness call.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I just think in general, this team's just so undisciplined. Seedy,
- 4:30Speaker 1: George Pickens, you have all the guys in the world. Ferguson,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and you just can't get it done. It looks to me,
- 4:37Speaker 1: we're going to talk about the chess match between Jonathan Gannon,
- 4:40Speaker 1: because Jonathan Gannon consistently for the Packers brought pressure, and
- 4:44Speaker 1: Dak could not figure it out. I think Dak is
- 4:47Speaker 1: one of the blasts of the dying breeds who is
- 4:49Speaker 1: actually a pocket passer, can go through his progressions, can
- 4:52Speaker 1: understand where pressure is coming from, all these things, and
- 4:55Speaker 1: it just was not happening at all with it. I just,
- 5:00Speaker 1: it was impressive to watch how much they pressured because
- 5:04Speaker 1: when Dak could get away, nothing was open. It's the
- 5:08Speaker 1: complete opposite of what I just said, what that Green
- 5:12Speaker 1: Bay defense, or sorry, what that Dallas defense was doing
- 5:14Speaker 1: because when you're zone pressuring, you're just, you're leaving guys
- 5:17Speaker 1: wide open. So I just, I really struggle with the
- 5:20Speaker 1: fact on how the Dallas Cowboys are playing because I
- 5:24Speaker 1: came into this season with so much hope, with so
- 5:27Speaker 1: much enthusiasm, anticipation. I know Kent, who helps produce this show,
- 5:33Speaker 1: he's in Dallas Cowboys. It's just, at some point, it
- 5:37Speaker 1: just goes without saying that there needs to be some
- 5:40Speaker 1: major changes. I also thought this was just like a
- 5:43Speaker 1: really weird game. Multiple weird calls and an interception. There's
- 5:46Speaker 1: an incomplete mix-up. And this is fully based on the officiating.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Is it an interception? Is it incomplete? It's Pickens. Oh,
- 5:56Speaker 1: it's Jersey. And they... reversed a call that they said
- 5:59Speaker 1: on the field. It was just really weird. A horrible
- 6:01Speaker 1: taunting penalty. A roughing the pass, like multiple roughing the passers.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I just hate when an official group tries to take
- 6:10Speaker 1: over the game. Just let those boys play. That's what happened.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Also slipping. Like a lot of people are like, well,
- 6:15Speaker 1: why is he sleeping? That grass, a lot of people
- 6:18Speaker 1: don't understand this. That grass in Green Bay, especially at night,
- 6:22Speaker 1: it gets a little slick. It gets a little cold.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It's a synthetic grass. So it's a little bit of turf.
- 6:26Speaker 1: interweaved with actual real grass. So it is actually good.
- 6:29Speaker 1: They also have heaters underneath that. So if it were
- 6:32Speaker 1: to snow, it didn't obviously, but in the, so in general,
- 6:36Speaker 1: it's just as much slipper slippery surface. And when we
- 6:39Speaker 1: used to play up there, Sean Payton was always the case.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Like if you look at the bottom of a cleat,
- 6:42Speaker 1: obviously I don't have a cleat, but there there's these
- 6:45Speaker 1: things called seven studs and they're different links. So there's
- 6:49Speaker 1: a quarter inch, there's a half inch and a three
- 6:51Speaker 1: quarter inch. And I'm telling you, Sean Payton would be
- 6:53Speaker 1: on us. And especially the receivers when you're running, You
- 6:56Speaker 1: need to be in screw-ons half an inch. And so
- 7:01Speaker 1: I just thought that was sloppy. It just looked sloppy overall.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Let's get to the Green Bay side of things. I
- 7:08Speaker 1: thought that a couple things. One, Jordan Love is my
- 7:12Speaker 1: dark horse MVP candidate. There's no doubt about it. The
- 7:15Speaker 1: way he's been playing the last two games, the way
- 7:17Speaker 1: he's been throwing the football down the field from the
- 7:19Speaker 1: Bears game to this Dallas game has been unbelievable. The decision-making–
- 7:24Speaker 1: understanding where to go with the football when Dallas would
- 7:28Speaker 1: bring pressure. I mean, look, I think he was, according
- 7:31Speaker 1: to next gen stats, he was pressured on 48% of
- 7:33Speaker 1: his dropbacks. Now he did get sacked three times by
- 7:35Speaker 1: the Cowboys, but the way he would like invite the
- 7:39Speaker 1: pressure to him and he would drift back and he
- 7:42Speaker 1: would throw these like arching overarching throws. I mean, I
- 7:45Speaker 1: thought it was, I thought it was really, really good.
- 7:48Speaker 1: He was 11 of 17 actually for 159 yards and
- 7:51Speaker 1: a touchdown while under pressure. You still can't get anything
- 7:55Speaker 1: going with the run game, but it doesn't matter necessarily
- 7:58Speaker 1: right now while Love is balling. And Love has, I think,
- 8:02Speaker 1: two receivers who are going to be with him a
- 8:04Speaker 1: really long time. I've just been extremely impressed with Matthew Golden.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Matthew Golden is the first Packers receiver to record 100
- 8:11Speaker 1: yards or more receiving in back-to-back weeks since Devontae Adams
- 8:17Speaker 1: in week 16 and 17 in 2021. That's how long
- 8:20Speaker 1: it's been. He was the first round pick, I believe,
- 8:23Speaker 1: for the Packers had a not so great year last year.
- 8:28Speaker 1: He also dropped two touchdowns. Like if you watch them
- 8:32Speaker 1: and you go through it and you're like, man, this
- 8:34Speaker 1: could have been a lot worse, dropped a nice, easy
- 8:36Speaker 1: go ball. Like it was, it was just like, we
- 8:40Speaker 1: call it presence down the chimney from Santa bro. Like
- 8:43Speaker 1: if you're, if you're throwing it and you're back there,
- 8:45Speaker 1: it's just like, Hey, it just right in your hands.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Boom drop. That was bad. Christian Watson dropped one too,
- 8:50Speaker 1: but I love the way Jordan loves playing. I love
- 8:51Speaker 1: the way this team's playing. Um, more importantly, that defense, if, if,
- 8:55Speaker 1: if they can continue to bring pressure with Jonathan Gannon,
- 9:00Speaker 1: but also be able to cover at the same time.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I just, I can't say enough about the Packers defensive
- 9:07Speaker 1: game plan, Jonathan Gannon. I'm usually a very much, um,
- 9:10Speaker 1: astute offensive guy, but seeing what they were doing, both
- 9:13Speaker 1: sides trying to bring pressure, a lot of different pressures.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It was a, it was a cat and mouse game
- 9:19Speaker 1: with Dak and him all game long. Um, Main takeaway
- 9:24Speaker 1: from this game, Packers are 4-2. Cowboys, just they're struggling.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I don't want to say their season is over, but
- 9:33Speaker 1: the way the offense is trending down, the defense actually
- 9:36Speaker 1: played better. But I like this Packers team a lot.
- 9:39Speaker 1: The NFC North, everyone's over 500. This is a very
- 9:42Speaker 1: difficult division. The Lions are rolling. The Bears are obviously
- 9:46Speaker 1: playing well. The Vikings are undefeated. So I like the
- 9:49Speaker 1: fact that the Packers are continuing to win. I like
- 9:52Speaker 1: what LaFleur is doing offensively. Keep Jonathan Gannon going. And
- 9:55Speaker 1: this is going to be a very, very much surprise.
- 10:00Speaker 1: team down the stretch in these Green Bay Packers. All right,
- 10:03Speaker 1: let's get into the next game. Chargers, Chiefs at Arrowhead.
- 10:07Speaker 1: The Chargers scored a grand total of six points. The
- 10:12Speaker 1: Chiefs scored 22. The funny thing about this game, When
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm watching it, it was probably the most boring game
- 10:19Speaker 1: of the entire slate, but I couldn't take my eyes
- 10:22Speaker 1: away from it because I was just waiting for the
- 10:24Speaker 1: moment for Justin Herbert to take the next step, for
- 10:27Speaker 1: Mike McDaniels to take the next step offensively, and they
- 10:32Speaker 1: looked bad. Usually I start the show and we start
- 10:35Speaker 1: this Chiefs talk about Patrick Holmes. The defense, to me,
- 10:39Speaker 1: is what stands out. Without a doubt, Chiefs finally– and
- 10:44Speaker 1: here's the crazy thing about it. The Chiefs are 5-0.
- 10:46Speaker 1: And if you just go and you look at their schedule,
- 10:49Speaker 1: Seahawks next week will be a tough one, although the
- 10:52Speaker 1: Seahawks are not the same team. Broncos having offensive troubles.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Then you've got Jets, Falcons, Cardinals. There's a realistic chance
- 11:00Speaker 1: that the Chiefs have not even been playing their best football,
- 11:03Speaker 1: and they could be 10-0. Right now they're 5-0. Seahawks
- 11:06Speaker 1: are going to be tough. You've got to go to Seattle.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And I just want to say that to preface. The
- 11:11Speaker 1: Chiefs offensively, they're not even remotely where they're at. Sometimes
- 11:14Speaker 1: coming off a bye week, It's a little bit different.
- 11:16Speaker 1: You have to get in there. You self-scout what you
- 11:20Speaker 1: do well, what you don't do well. How do we
- 11:23Speaker 1: figure their offense out better? How do we figure out teams'
- 11:26Speaker 1: defenses better? What do teams think about us? And here's
- 11:30Speaker 1: one thing that I know for a fact that Andy
- 11:34Speaker 1: Reid self-scouted himself on and said, we need to do
- 11:37Speaker 1: way more of this. It's Kenneth Walker. Kenneth Walker, completely unreal.
- 11:42Speaker 1: 128 yards, two touchdowns. I think the biggest thing that
- 11:47Speaker 1: you're just seeing and watching is this Kenneth Walker cat.
- 11:51Speaker 1: First of all, how bad that the Seattle Seahawks miss
- 11:53Speaker 1: him because the Seahawks cannot run the football whatsoever. That's
- 11:55Speaker 1: why they're losing football games. But more importantly, how Andy
- 11:58Speaker 1: Reid is using him. A lot more under center, a
- 12:01Speaker 1: lot more play action. The biggest thing for me is
- 12:03Speaker 1: Mahomes doesn't have to put the team on the bat.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Mahomes still went 23 of 30, 272 yards, no touchdowns.
- 12:09Speaker 1: That really, really bad. This game could have been worse.
- 12:12Speaker 1: It could have been 30, 29 to 6. That bad
- 12:16Speaker 1: red zone touchdown. He was drifting back, drifting back, trying
- 12:18Speaker 1: to do that Mahomes stuff. Didn't like it. Ended up
- 12:21Speaker 1: doing that. But how good is that? You can throw
- 12:24Speaker 1: a red zone interception. And look, I understand the Chargers.
- 12:27Speaker 1: They're 0-6. But you can throw a red zone interception
- 12:30Speaker 1: and figure it out. So, like, it's really a three-headed
- 12:33Speaker 1: monster now for the Chiefs. This is the most complete
- 12:36Speaker 1: they've looked. They still haven't figured it out. But you
- 12:38Speaker 1: have Patrick Mahomes, who can easily still be Patrick Mahomes
- 12:41Speaker 1: when he needs to be. You have Kenneth Walker. who
- 12:45Speaker 1: is probably the most valuable player on that team. Not probably.
- 12:48Speaker 1: He is the most valuable player on that team. And
- 12:50Speaker 1: then you have Spaggs in that defense. They only allowed
- 12:53Speaker 1: 230 total yards. How about this, though? The Chiefs got
- 12:56Speaker 1: their first sack since week one. The Chiefs had four
- 13:01Speaker 1: sacks all season, and they finally had four in this
- 13:04Speaker 1: game alone. So they're getting back on it. Spaggs was
- 13:07Speaker 1: no longer just saying, hey, we're not going to sit back.
- 13:08Speaker 1: We're going to bring double edge pressure. We're going to
- 13:10Speaker 1: bring this and that. So that's the chief side of things.
- 13:13Speaker 1: The Chargers is really interesting to me because they are defeated. Yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 1: not undefeated. They are defeated. 0-6, I believe, or 0-whatever
- 13:24Speaker 1: they are. How in the world have they not won
- 13:27Speaker 1: a game? Well, I'll tell you this. The offense is
- 13:29Speaker 1: not good enough. They don't have any offensive playmakers that
- 13:33Speaker 1: run game. non-existent. Justin Herbert is their leading rusher. Chargers
- 13:37Speaker 1: had back-to-back 11 win seasons, and now they're 0-6. And look,
- 13:42Speaker 1: we beat our head around it over here, and we say, hey,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Mike McDaniels, you're this, you're that. Not so much. There
- 13:52Speaker 1: has to be a change. And I don't know what
- 13:56Speaker 1: it is. I don't think you're going to bench Herbert.
- 14:00Speaker 1: It'd be really interesting to see what Jim Harbaugh does.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Jim Harbaugh's never... been 0-6 in his entire career. I mean,
- 14:05Speaker 1: it's just Herbert, 22 of 37, 204 yards. Sure, the
- 14:09Speaker 1: 22 of 37 looks good, but he's just dinking and dunking.
- 14:12Speaker 1: He had that one big play on a scramble on
- 14:14Speaker 1: third down that made it look a lot better than
- 14:16Speaker 1: it is. How about this for stats on the season?
- 14:19Speaker 1: Herbert's five touchdowns, eight interceptions. I just feel like Spaggs
- 14:24Speaker 1: has Herbert's number, and it's just getting really bad. I
- 14:28Speaker 1: live about 100 miles away from their facility, but it's,
- 14:33Speaker 1: it's really bad. All right, let's move on to the
- 14:35Speaker 1: next game on the slate. Might've been my favorite game
- 14:38Speaker 1: because that's right. Caleb Williams is back. The bears 31,
- 14:44Speaker 1: the Falcons 23, um, a little bit about this game.
- 14:47Speaker 1: It was 31 to seven at one point and the
- 14:51Speaker 1: bears almost gave it away. But the story of the day,
- 14:54Speaker 1: make no doubt about it is the Caleb Williams returning
- 14:59Speaker 1: from his hamstring injury. injury. I think that was the
- 15:04Speaker 1: one thing that I saw is Caleb looked great the
- 15:06Speaker 1: entire day. His first touchdown was insane to me. I mean,
- 15:09Speaker 1: it is vintage Caleb Williams. The offense looks way, way different.
- 15:16Speaker 1: How about the hook and ladder on the first drive?
- 15:18Speaker 1: I mean, they came out with a reckless abandon, and
- 15:21Speaker 1: this is what this Bears team can be. Look, they
- 15:24Speaker 1: made it through the stretch of the The Caleb Williams
- 15:28Speaker 1: memes where he's grabbing his hamstring and he's pumping the crowd.
- 15:30Speaker 1: He thought he was done. What is it? Three or
- 15:33Speaker 1: four weeks and he's back. And it looks like he
- 15:35Speaker 1: didn't miss a beat. He just brings such a different
- 15:38Speaker 1: dynamic to this team. And I think the biggest thing
- 15:41Speaker 1: for me is like, yeah, hey, Tyson Bajet, you did
- 15:44Speaker 1: a nice job. Case Keenum, you did a really nice job.
- 15:48Speaker 1: But the way he's able to escape pressure, it really
- 15:51Speaker 1: changes how the Falcons or anyone can play you offensively,
- 15:56Speaker 1: because there's always a chance you have to cover longer
- 15:59Speaker 1: than you want. Sometimes, like, I'm not a betting guy,
- 16:04Speaker 1: but I would have bet, like, the under in points
- 16:06Speaker 1: because it's absolutely Caleb Williams coming back. You know, is
- 16:11Speaker 1: he going to be himself? He didn't really scramble a lot,
- 16:13Speaker 1: but he escaped. A lot of times those injuries, you know,
- 16:17Speaker 1: can keep going. And for me, it just wasn't even–
- 16:21Speaker 1: um an option I mean he he just he looked
- 16:24Speaker 1: like he did when he took uh got the injury
- 16:27Speaker 1: here's interesting to me there was a play uh it
- 16:30Speaker 1: was third and six with two minutes and 45 seconds
- 16:34Speaker 1: left and Caleb Williams used his cadence on that drive
- 16:38Speaker 1: like on third and six gets under center they know
- 16:41Speaker 1: they have to do it he goes through like hard
- 16:43Speaker 1: count you know, dummy audibles, whatever you're doing, and gets
- 16:48Speaker 1: them to jump, gets the third and one, and they
- 16:50Speaker 1: continue and they are able to run out the clock.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I thought that was awesome. Like a lot of people
- 16:56Speaker 1: are just talking about, Hey, here's the stats. Here's this,
- 16:58Speaker 1: here's that as a quarterback growing, especially in Ben Johnson's offense,
- 17:02Speaker 1: you have to be able to do it all. You
- 17:04Speaker 1: have to be able to figure out a way to
- 17:07Speaker 1: be play under center and to continue to grow the
- 17:10Speaker 1: play action game. And if you remember coming out of
- 17:12Speaker 1: college in USC and Oklahoma, like Caleb played all shotgun.
- 17:16Speaker 1: That's all he did. He played all shotgun. So just
- 17:20Speaker 1: the growth in the mindset and you, you hear them
- 17:23Speaker 1: in the media, everything about it. It's just, it's just
- 17:26Speaker 1: really good. I did think that they, the bears sort
- 17:29Speaker 1: of took their, their foot off the gas in the
- 17:31Speaker 1: second half. The bears fumbled with seven minutes left, just sloppy.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I don't feel like it should have ever been um,
- 17:38Speaker 1: close this game, but I did love the, the, the
- 17:41Speaker 1: play calling with Ben Johnson really makes defenses one dimensional. Um,
- 17:45Speaker 1: and then on defense, I mean, well, first of all,
- 17:48Speaker 1: let's talk about the 12 penalties. The 12 penalty is
- 17:50Speaker 1: not great, but the defense me played great. Dennis Allen, uh,
- 17:54Speaker 1: got his guy back Kyler Gore, and we'll talk about
- 17:56Speaker 1: him a little later in the show, but the first
- 17:57Speaker 1: time he's played all year long and he gave Dennis
- 18:00Speaker 1: Allen's defense, such a spark, like a huge sack fumble, um,
- 18:04Speaker 1: by Kyler in the fourth quarter, three sacks in his debut, uh,
- 18:08Speaker 1: The Bears overall looked really, really good. How about the
- 18:13Speaker 1: Caleb Williams-Coulson leveling connection? All it took was a couple
- 18:16Speaker 1: weeks out to understand, hey, we got one of the
- 18:17Speaker 1: best tight ends in the game. They were able to
- 18:19Speaker 1: get him going. Here's what's cool about Caleb is that, hey,
- 18:24Speaker 1: he finished 19-22, 197 yards in just the first half.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And I do think they took their foot off the
- 18:29Speaker 1: pedal like I was mentioning. He finished 30-36, very, very efficient,
- 18:33Speaker 1: 305 yards. DeAndre Swift had two rushing touchdowns. And from
- 18:37Speaker 1: the Bears– perspective, they got it rolling. Falcon's perspective, not
- 18:44Speaker 1: so much. Look, I understand that they were able to
- 18:46Speaker 1: get two big wins with Michael Pinnock's, but when you're
- 18:49Speaker 1: watching the game, like Bijan Robinson only rushed the ball
- 18:52Speaker 1: nine times. He touched the ball 11 times. They were
- 18:54Speaker 1: down big early, but the way they played and the
- 18:58Speaker 1: way Michael Pinnock's played in the second half, I feel
- 19:01Speaker 1: like that's the way they should go. Atlanta muffed a
- 19:04Speaker 1: pump before half. It really hurt them. Also the fumble
- 19:06Speaker 1: in their own territory. And then the ensuing kickoff, Zachariah Brandts,
- 19:10Speaker 1: two fumbles on special teams. Not great, but as horrible
- 19:13Speaker 1: as they started, they almost came back and surprised the Bears.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I thought it was good. I feel like Michael Penix
- 19:20Speaker 1: is the guy there. When you have Kyle Pitts with
- 19:23Speaker 1: two fourth-quarter touchdowns, Bijan Robinson, not as much use. But
- 19:28Speaker 1: then you have Drake London on that two-point conversion. Bijan
- 19:32Speaker 1: Robinson is really good. You have to use him. You
- 19:35Speaker 1: can't just be one-dimensional in this league, but you have
- 19:38Speaker 1: to give credit to the Bears and their entire defensive
- 19:42Speaker 1: performance other than the fourth quarter because it was really,
- 19:44Speaker 1: really good. And here's the thing. You're going to look
- 19:47Speaker 1: at this and you're going to be like, oh, the Falcons,
- 19:49Speaker 1: we're back. Yeah, it's awesome. It's this and it's that.
- 19:52Speaker 1: The Falcons had 120 yards of offense with 11 minutes
- 19:55Speaker 1: left in the fourth quarter. And yes, they came back.
- 19:58Speaker 1: And yes, they ended up scoring 23 points against the Bears.
- 20:02Speaker 1: But this was a game that was not pretty from
- 20:04Speaker 1: the start. But once again, just hitting the Bears perspective,
- 20:07Speaker 1: They got to keep it rolling. It's impressive. Atlanta's not
- 20:11Speaker 1: out of it. The NFC South is very wide open.
- 20:13Speaker 1: The Panthers keep winning. The Saints won. Just one of
- 20:17Speaker 1: the more fun games to watch specifically from that Caleb
- 20:20Speaker 1: Williams perspective. All right, guys, let's take a quick break.
- 20:23Speaker 1: We'll be right back. This football season, whether you're buying tickets,
- 20:26Speaker 1: booking travel, or shopping for team gear, protect your pocket
- 20:29Speaker 1: with Visa. Tapping to pay without checking which card? Not
- 20:33Speaker 1: a pro move. Tapping to pay with Visa? That's a
- 20:36Speaker 1: pro move. Visa runs more than 500 security checks to
- 20:39Speaker 1: help identify fraud before transactions are approved, so you can
- 20:43Speaker 1: focus your defensive strategy on other things, like defending your
- 20:47Speaker 1: executive decision to order pineapple anchovy pizza for the whole
- 20:50Speaker 1: watch party. That might not be a pro move, but
- 20:53Speaker 1: paying with Visa is. Visa, the most trusted way to
- 20:56Speaker 1: pay for football fans everywhere. All right, guys, we are
- 21:00Speaker 1: back here on the first read, and we're gonna get
- 21:03Speaker 1: into one of the more interesting games and better games,
- 21:06Speaker 1: in my opinion, of the day. And that is the
- 21:08Speaker 1: bills Raiders Buffalo bills end up holding on 33 to 30.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I thought both quarterbacks played really well. I thought the bills,
- 21:19Speaker 1: obviously in my opinion, the better team. And how about,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I mean, we, we can't talk enough about it. How
- 21:25Speaker 1: about Josh Allen? Look, I called the Monday night football
- 21:27Speaker 1: game versus the Rams and going into the third or
- 21:31Speaker 1: fourth quarter of that game, he didn't have many completions.
- 21:34Speaker 1: The game went into overtime. It was his first overtime win.
- 21:37Speaker 1: There could be a massive, massive hangover. A lot of
- 21:40Speaker 1: people don't understand or know that they stayed out on
- 21:43Speaker 1: the West coast because they were in LA. They stayed,
- 21:46Speaker 1: they went to Las Vegas. A lot of things can happen.
- 21:49Speaker 1: It's a really long road trip, but you're heading back
- 21:51Speaker 1: to Buffalo. Um, and you are five and one. Like,
- 21:56Speaker 1: I think that's the ultimate thing that you take away
- 21:57Speaker 1: is they're five and one. If you go back, because
- 22:00Speaker 1: we've covered a lot of the Bills in this show,
- 22:01Speaker 1: if you go back to the first two games of
- 22:03Speaker 1: the year, Josh Allen, nine total touchdowns, and then there
- 22:06Speaker 1: was a week or two that they were not so great.
- 22:09Speaker 1: And honestly, he didn't play awesome in the L.A. Rams
- 22:12Speaker 1: game until the fourth quarter in overtime and then sort
- 22:14Speaker 1: of took it over. From the jump in this game,
- 22:17Speaker 1: he took over. Josh Allen has tied Jim Kelly. How
- 22:20Speaker 1: about this? For the most passing touchdowns for the Bill,
- 22:23Speaker 1: that Jim Kelly team that went to, I think, four
- 22:25Speaker 1: straight AFC Championship games, couldn't get it done. A lot
- 22:29Speaker 1: of crazy stuff here. CJ Gardner-Johnson got ejected for spitting
- 22:32Speaker 1: at Bowers. I mean, it's just he had a horrible
- 22:36Speaker 1: roughing penalty last week or a personal foul, whatever. Just
- 22:41Speaker 1: always with him. The Bills, how about this, though? Under
- 22:45Speaker 1: Josh Allen this year, under Pete Carmichael, offensive coordinator, under
- 22:49Speaker 1: Joe Brady, who is the head coach who's overseeing that,
- 22:51Speaker 1: the Bills are 4-1 in one possession games this season.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I think that's the biggest thing is that when you
- 22:57Speaker 1: look at their stat sheet And I'm doing it right now.
- 23:00Speaker 1: 23 first downs, zero turnovers, only eight penalties for 77 yards,
- 23:04Speaker 1: but zero turnovers. That's the biggest thing is when Josh
- 23:07Speaker 1: Allen is playing efficient like this. He was 23 of 33, 255,
- 23:13Speaker 1: two touchdowns, only carried the football five times for one yard.
- 23:19Speaker 1: But when they're efficient like that, man, and they're able
- 23:21Speaker 1: to run James Cook, rush for 95 yards and a touchdown.
- 23:25Speaker 1: He was also their second leading receiver. So you get
- 23:27Speaker 1: James Cook putting up 150 piece. I mean, he's as
- 23:30Speaker 1: valuable to a team as Kenneth Walker is to Patrick Mahomes.
- 23:37Speaker 1: And we don't talk enough about it because James Cook
- 23:39Speaker 1: has just continually done this. But we need to start
- 23:41Speaker 1: saying that about James Cook because James Cook is a
- 23:45Speaker 1: legitimate backup. Also, how about Keon Coleman having a massive
- 23:49Speaker 1: bounce-back year, becoming one of the more trusted targets for
- 23:54Speaker 1: Josh Allen? And from the Bills' side of things, there
- 23:57Speaker 1: was a couple play calls by Joe Brady to really
- 24:00Speaker 1: ice the game that we haven't seen a lot of it.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I know for a fact the Bills are under center 56%
- 24:07Speaker 1: of the time this year. It was up from 28%
- 24:10Speaker 1: of the time under center in 2023. So just a
- 24:16Speaker 1: three-year turn of events. I think Pete Carmichael coming over
- 24:19Speaker 1: from the Saints scheme, I think that's playing a massive
- 24:21Speaker 1: deal to it. But you're like, Chase, what does that
- 24:24Speaker 1: do from under center? Well, obviously you can pass or run.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I think it hides pass a lot more. I think
- 24:32Speaker 1: it allows the offensive lineman to come off better. I
- 24:35Speaker 1: think it allows for running backs on certain angles in
- 24:39Speaker 1: the run game. I also think that when you're turning
- 24:41Speaker 1: your back to the defense and you're faking the ball
- 24:44Speaker 1: left and right, the DBs and the linebackers, the second
- 24:47Speaker 1: level of defense, have a really difficult time seeing where
- 24:50Speaker 1: the football is. Josh Allen and Joe Brady has done
- 24:54Speaker 1: that to a really, really good level. um, area of
- 24:58Speaker 1: the game this year. And I think it's really changed
- 25:00Speaker 1: who they are. I think you got to continue to
- 25:03Speaker 1: keep James Cook going. I think you got to continue
- 25:05Speaker 1: to get, um, Josh Allen going. The only time he
- 25:08Speaker 1: gets in trouble is when he tries to do too much.
- 25:09Speaker 1: And on this touchdown throw that makes him just unbelievable
- 25:14Speaker 1: and makes him so good to where he's, he's scrambling around,
- 25:16Speaker 1: he breaks a tackle and all of a sudden he
- 25:18Speaker 1: pitches the football. Like I felt like it was like
- 25:20Speaker 1: 20 yards on a pitch to a wide open touchdown.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I mean, the pitch touchdown, that's the biggest thing. And
- 25:25Speaker 1: we already said, um, no turnovers for the bills. The
- 25:29Speaker 1: bills look like, in my opinion, one of the favorites
- 25:32Speaker 1: for the AFC. How about the Raiders though? The Raiders are,
- 25:36Speaker 1: the Raiders are not dying. I mean, this is not
- 25:38Speaker 1: an easy team. Go to three and three on the
- 25:40Speaker 1: year Raiders tied it with 23. This is how close
- 25:43Speaker 1: this game was. Raiders tied it at 23 with eight
- 25:46Speaker 1: minutes left. And you can't say enough for Kirk cousins.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I do a top six quarterback on, um, My channel
- 25:52Speaker 1: on YouTube channel, it'll be out tomorrow. It's the breakdown.
- 25:56Speaker 1: We break down multiple different teams. We do, excuse me, quarterbacks.
- 26:01Speaker 1: We go in depth on everything. We also do a
- 26:04Speaker 1: top six quarterback list every week. Kirk Cousins has not
- 26:07Speaker 1: made that list. Kirk Cousins will make this list. Spoiler,
- 26:11Speaker 1: this week, we're already trying to figure out where he
- 26:13Speaker 1: slots in. But he's playing such high level football. However,
- 26:18Speaker 1: like if they keep losing, And the broadcast and Nance
- 26:24Speaker 1: and JJ were all over it. You got a guy
- 26:26Speaker 1: by the name of Fernando Mendoza just sort of sitting,
- 26:29Speaker 1: waiting in the wings. He played last week in some
- 26:32Speaker 1: mop-up duty. I think the interception to Dorian Williams in
- 26:35Speaker 1: the third quarter really hurt him. An ensuing drive. Josh
- 26:38Speaker 1: did wild things. You just got to start putting it
- 26:41Speaker 1: out there and understanding, hey, when is the time right?
- 26:46Speaker 1: Not right now. They're 3-3. I don't think they're going
- 26:47Speaker 1: to win the division today. but you have to figure
- 26:50Speaker 1: it out on the timing. If you look at their
- 26:54Speaker 1: slate of games coming up, it's not easy. They have
- 26:56Speaker 1: quite a stretch of games, but it'll be interesting if
- 26:59Speaker 1: they drop one, maybe two more. I think it's time
- 27:04Speaker 1: you go to the rookie. Kirk Cousins was brought in.
- 27:07Speaker 1: The thought of them not trying to make the playoffs
- 27:10Speaker 1: or trying to make the playoffs probably obsolete. So when
- 27:15Speaker 1: you have that, And I've said this about Fernando. I
- 27:18Speaker 1: think Kirk Cousins right now for sure is the better quarterback.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I think he's added a few more years to his career.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I think Clint could be actually doing amazing things with him.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I say this with a grain of salt, though. Fernando
- 27:27Speaker 1: Mendoza has to play. You drafted him number one overall
- 27:31Speaker 1: to play. He has to play. The only way to
- 27:35Speaker 1: gain experience is guess what, guys? Guess what? You got
- 27:38Speaker 1: to go out there and play football. If you play
- 27:41Speaker 1: football at a high level, you can't get this in practice.
- 27:43Speaker 1: He's not getting any one reps with the practice. He's
- 27:45Speaker 1: running scout team. So today... You're like, Chase, what does
- 27:48Speaker 1: that mean? Today, he was Josh Allen. In this whole
- 27:51Speaker 1: week leading up to practice, he was Josh Allen. He
- 27:53Speaker 1: was the Bills quarterback because he's the two offense going
- 27:56Speaker 1: against the one defense giving him looks. Would be really
- 27:59Speaker 1: interested to see if they start to give him more
- 28:01Speaker 1: reps in practice because Kirk took a beating today. I
- 28:04Speaker 1: just think that's the overall look on this Raiders team.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And also the other thing is, where's Ashton Genting? We
- 28:13Speaker 1: got to get him going, guys. 10 carries. 22 yards.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I know he had some catches. I think he touched
- 28:19Speaker 1: the ball 15 total times. It just has not been.
- 28:22Speaker 1: He scored his touchdown. I get that. But it just
- 28:25Speaker 1: has not been good whatsoever for the Raiders. So the
- 28:28Speaker 1: question is, Raiders, when are you going to play Fernando Badoza?
- 28:31Speaker 1: And Bills, you just got to keep on rolling. All right,
- 28:34Speaker 1: another sneaky, I wouldn't say sneaky good game, but the
- 28:38Speaker 1: Ravens versus the Browns. Oh, made me want to claw
- 28:42Speaker 1: my eyes out. But this was a massive battle in
- 28:46Speaker 1: the AFC North. The Browns. The Browns are in first
- 28:50Speaker 1: place at 4-2 in the AFC North. They beat the
- 28:54Speaker 1: Ravens 13-10. For the first, I don't know, 50 minutes
- 28:58Speaker 1: of this game, I was like, what is happening? Because
- 29:01Speaker 1: Snoop Huntley plays. Lamar Jackson doesn't play. Deshaun Watson is
- 29:04Speaker 1: just okay. They go back and forth. The biggest thing
- 29:08Speaker 1: here is Lamar Jackson is out. I mean, Lamar... I mean,
- 29:12Speaker 1: Stoop Huntley... Here's this. Stoop Huntley had the Ravens up
- 29:18Speaker 1: 10 to nothing with four minutes left in the first quarter.
- 29:20Speaker 1: You know how many more points they scored after 10
- 29:23Speaker 1: minutes ago? Zero. There's none. There's zero. Such an ugly
- 29:29Speaker 1: game early. Very much a wild ending. But the Ravens
- 29:33Speaker 1: and Stoop Huntley, I mean, it's... You can only go
- 29:36Speaker 1: so much with them. Here's the thing about Lamar. The Ravens,
- 29:39Speaker 1: I think, are really good. good this year. Jesse Minter's
- 29:41Speaker 1: got them rolling. Declan Doyle, offensively, you've got to get
- 29:43Speaker 1: them ready. Like, you've got to get Lamar Jackson out there.
- 29:46Speaker 1: It seems like every step of the way, it's just
- 29:50Speaker 1: one of those things where it's just hurting and you're
- 29:52Speaker 1: trying to get right and you're trying to do all this.
- 29:56Speaker 1: And that's the thing. When you don't have your quarterback...
- 29:59Speaker 1: It's really hard to run your offense. I think Snoop's
- 30:01Speaker 1: done a nice job. He's filled in admirably. But I
- 30:04Speaker 1: liked how they were aggressive from the start. They go
- 30:07Speaker 1: for it on that fourth down, that fourth down throw
- 30:09Speaker 1: for a touchdown by Snoop, and then absolutely nothing. So
- 30:11Speaker 1: you've got to give credit to the Browns defensively for
- 30:14Speaker 1: really stepping up. Here's the other thing of the day.
- 30:17Speaker 1: If your backup quarterback is out and you have Derrick Henry,
- 30:20Speaker 1: 17 carries for only 58 yards, that's what we're getting defensively.
- 30:27Speaker 1: With Derek Henry, when your backup is in, like Ravens
- 30:31Speaker 1: need Lamar back bad. I think they're actually a good team.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I don't think we can know how good they are
- 30:36Speaker 1: until Lamar Jackson is 100%. Let's go to the Browns
- 30:40Speaker 1: side of things. Let's start on defense. I think they
- 30:43Speaker 1: did a hell of a job mixing up coverage for
- 30:45Speaker 1: the backup quarterback on defense. Spessinger was an absolute nightmare,
- 30:49Speaker 1: forced a fumble, multiple tackles. And you can go one
- 30:53Speaker 1: of two ways. I know I said, hey, you got
- 30:55Speaker 1: to get Derrick Henry going, but how about the defense? Understanding, hey,
- 30:59Speaker 1: after the first two drives where we gave up 10 points,
- 31:02Speaker 1: pitching a shutout. And there were some massive plays on
- 31:05Speaker 1: third down from Snoop Huntley, and they just continued to fight,
- 31:08Speaker 1: continued to get going. You know they're going to run
- 31:10Speaker 1: it with Lamar out. They just loaded the box and said,
- 31:13Speaker 1: Snoops ain't going to beat us outside. There ain't no
- 31:15Speaker 1: way that's going to happen. So love their defense. How about, though,
- 31:21Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson? A lot of people wrote him off. Browns
- 31:29Speaker 1: fans were booing him. Everyone thought this was it. And
- 31:33Speaker 1: what does Deshaun Watson do? I don't know. Four. That's good. One, two, three, four.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Four game-winning drives this year. And honestly, it hasn't looked
- 31:44Speaker 1: good through most of those games. He's played efficient. He's
- 31:49Speaker 1: protected the football well. But when he needs to make
- 31:52Speaker 1: plays on the game-winning drives, whatever it is, he doesn't.
- 31:56Speaker 1: We'd love to see that early in the game. They're
- 31:59Speaker 1: trying to fill it out. They're trying to figure out
- 32:01Speaker 1: what this offense needs to be. Those two rookie receivers,
- 32:03Speaker 1: Casey Concepcion, Boston, excellent. They have a really good young core.
- 32:07Speaker 1: But that dagger throw on that third down with about
- 32:10Speaker 1: 45 seconds left in the game where you're attacking the
- 32:13Speaker 1: middle of the football field, it's trips. They motion over.
- 32:16Speaker 1: They end up running mesh just in case they got manned.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Heck of a play call. right? And you have a
- 32:22Speaker 1: dagger route, which is an 18 to 22 yard speed
- 32:24Speaker 1: cut in a lot of those linebackers for the Ravens.
- 32:28Speaker 1: They bit up on the mesh cause it was third
- 32:30Speaker 1: and seven, third and eight, I believe maybe third and six.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I don't know. Um, and they bite it up and
- 32:34Speaker 1: he throws in rhythm and a little bit of a
- 32:36Speaker 1: crowded pocket on a dagger catch and run. I mean,
- 32:40Speaker 1: that's the thing that people don't understand about two minute
- 32:42Speaker 1: drills as quarterbacks. You don't have to Throw, like, the
- 32:45Speaker 1: game away. Just take what they give you on that drive. Take, take, take.
- 32:49Speaker 1: As soon as you do, you put that little filet mignon,
- 32:52Speaker 1: as Andy Reid used to say, that bait for those
- 32:54Speaker 1: linebackers to come up and you freaking forward dagger. It
- 32:58Speaker 1: was awesome. It is wild to me that the Browns
- 33:00Speaker 1: are 4-2. They're in first place. Nice job by Smites
- 33:04Speaker 1: coming back and making that game winner after a miss.
- 33:06Speaker 1: I think he had made, what, 24? 24? 24 straight
- 33:11Speaker 1: field goals before the miss with 340 left. I thought
- 33:13Speaker 1: that was going to ice it. He just said, hey,
- 33:15Speaker 1: you know what? Let's go out there. Don't love that
- 33:17Speaker 1: Deshaun was sacked five times. Numbers ain't going to wow you.
- 33:21Speaker 1: 16 of 26, 164 yards. But they just keep finding
- 33:24Speaker 1: ways to win. My biggest takeaway on that game, the
- 33:26Speaker 1: Ravens need Lamar back now. All right, let's get into
- 33:31Speaker 1: my favorite block of the day. That's right. Who's trending up?
- 33:35Speaker 1: Who's trending down? We're going to have three. Teams, players,
- 33:40Speaker 1: maybe you get an owner in there. I don't know
- 33:43Speaker 1: who are trending up, which means, hey, they're doing a
- 33:44Speaker 1: really nice job. And then three that are trending way
- 33:47Speaker 1: down in the downs. I mean, you just got to
- 33:49Speaker 1: see this because it's unbelievable. Let's get to my first
- 33:53Speaker 1: trending up. And this is a guy by the name
- 33:56Speaker 1: of Travis Hunter. Where have you been? Where have you been?
- 34:00Speaker 1: And I think it's Liam Cohn, what he's able to do.
- 34:04Speaker 1: He needs to use him more on offense. Like he
- 34:06Speaker 1: needs to use them more on offense. Look, I understand Jacksonville.
- 34:09Speaker 1: They ended up losing a tight one to Houston and
- 34:11Speaker 1: Houston has their season on, on, you know, hearts. It's just,
- 34:16Speaker 1: it's crazy on like, anyway, Travis Hunter for me, four catches,
- 34:22Speaker 1: four targets, 59 yards, a touchdown average, almost 15 yards
- 34:26Speaker 1: of catch. It's not just how they're using him or sorry.
- 34:30Speaker 1: It's not just like where they're using it. It's how
- 34:32Speaker 1: they're using him. A lot of option routes. They're getting
- 34:34Speaker 1: him in a lot on third down to run these
- 34:38Speaker 1: like choice routes. He just looks really smooth. He looks
- 34:42Speaker 1: way more comfortable when they drafted Travis Hunter. This is
- 34:45Speaker 1: the Travis Hunter that they wanted because guess what? You
- 34:47Speaker 1: go and you catch your touchdown very next drive interception
- 34:51Speaker 1: in the red zone on CJ Stroud. I mean, like,
- 34:55Speaker 1: It's a two-way player, and I think that's the biggest
- 34:58Speaker 1: thing for me is figuring that out. He caught his
- 35:00Speaker 1: only pass target last week versus Philadelphia. I feel like
- 35:03Speaker 1: the offense is gaining more trust in him, specifically Trevor Lawrence,
- 35:08Speaker 1: but I feel like he's gaining more trust in the offense.
- 35:12Speaker 1: And this is what I've always said. What's one way
- 35:16Speaker 1: you can impact the game? And that's playing defense. I
- 35:19Speaker 1: think if you have a shutdown corner and he played
- 35:21Speaker 1: really well, but you've got to get him 15 to
- 35:24Speaker 1: 20 snaps on offense. It completely changes that offense. I
- 35:27Speaker 1: thought Trevor Lawrence played really well. Again, a brutal heartbreaking loss.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Houston has their season on life support. As we mentioned,
- 35:35Speaker 1: it is, it is quite the, quite the season they're having,
- 35:38Speaker 1: but Travis Hunter, like, let's go more of him, more
- 35:40Speaker 1: of him. All right, let's move to a guy who everyone,
- 35:46Speaker 1: including myself, probably wrote off JJ McCarthy for the giants.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Like I understand they lost. But you go down there
- 35:54Speaker 1: against the Saints and you bring them back. You're their
- 35:56Speaker 1: leading rusher and you're their leading thrower. You led a
- 36:01Speaker 1: two-minute drive that could have won it. You ended up
- 36:04Speaker 1: 11 of 21, 243 yards, one touchdown, one interception, one sack,
- 36:08Speaker 1: 90 passer rating. I don't think you guys understand how
- 36:10Speaker 1: difficult it is as a backup quarterback to come off
- 36:13Speaker 1: the bench and to figure out how in the world
- 36:16Speaker 1: we're going to go win this game. Because Jameis Winston
- 36:18Speaker 1: got all the reps. And JJ's probably on the side.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Figuring it out. Hey, I need to do this. I
- 36:24Speaker 1: need to do that. He's walking through it. Here's the J.J.
- 36:27Speaker 1: McCarthy that can be. It's on tape. You threw for
- 36:32Speaker 1: 243 yards in the fourth quarter alone in this Matt
- 36:36Speaker 1: Nagy offense. I think he gives you a higher upside.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I think he's quarterback one right now. If I'm being
- 36:41Speaker 1: completely honest with you, the Giants not too far behind
- 36:44Speaker 1: in the NFC East. I would absolutely ride with him.
- 36:46Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see what he does in this
- 36:48Speaker 1: Matt Nagy offense with a whole week of prep. I
- 36:52Speaker 1: would imagine that you don't just bench Jameis and almost
- 36:55Speaker 1: come back to beat the Saints, which, you know, the
- 36:58Speaker 1: Saints got on a little bit of a roll. I
- 37:00Speaker 1: think he's the guy. Jameis was 2-0-1. That's right. That tie, remember,
- 37:05Speaker 1: that was awful because the commanders didn't know how to
- 37:08Speaker 1: stop the club. But after how JJ played, I really
- 37:11Speaker 1: do believe he's the guy. There's a lot of upside.
- 37:13Speaker 1: I think not a lot of accuracy in this game,
- 37:17Speaker 1: But if you can give him a small package of plays,
- 37:20Speaker 1: and if he doesn't think, that's why I think him
- 37:22Speaker 1: coming in, he didn't think. I've done it before too.
- 37:25Speaker 1: On the bench, coming into a game, and all of
- 37:28Speaker 1: a sudden you're just, you're just reacting. You're in that
- 37:31Speaker 1: flow state. That's what he was in. Layering throws like
- 37:34Speaker 1: Brock Purdy does. Showing good zip on comeback routes. Running
- 37:38Speaker 1: the offense. Changing plays. Doing all this. Got to get
- 37:40Speaker 1: Cam Scadaboo involved. But J.J. McCarthy, in my opinion, QB1
- 37:44Speaker 1: for the New York Giants. All right, let's get to...
- 37:47Speaker 1: The very next topic, the Titans. They've been trending down
- 37:51Speaker 1: like every week. They get their first win trending up.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Let's go. Titans win 26-20 over the Colts in Indy.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Road win. Very difficult to do. First win of 2026.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Now they're 1-5 on the season. How about this, though?
- 38:05Speaker 1: When they trailed 13-0 at half, I was like, there
- 38:09Speaker 1: ain't no way, man. You're about to go 0-6. You're
- 38:12Speaker 1: about to do all this stuff. I thought that it
- 38:15Speaker 1: was great because it was their 500th win of the season.
- 38:17Speaker 1: It also helps tremendously if you get a defensive and
- 38:22Speaker 1: special teams performance like this. Titans had a blocked punt
- 38:24Speaker 1: return for a touchdown. Anytime you can block a punt
- 38:27Speaker 1: or block a kick or score on special teams, your
- 38:30Speaker 1: win percentage goes up to like 85%. Sean Payton did
- 38:32Speaker 1: a study one time and he ran back like 20 years.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Anytime you get like this special teams touchdown, this play,
- 38:39Speaker 1: this whatever, it goes off. It is unbelievable. Jeffrey Simmons,
- 38:43Speaker 1: an absolute beast too. Like career day, two sacks, forced fumble,
- 38:46Speaker 1: fumble recovery. Jermaine Johnson, two sacks. Joey Sly went four
- 38:50Speaker 1: for four. The offense, Kim Ward still looks abysmal. I'm
- 38:53Speaker 1: going to be honest with you. They're not on trending down.
- 38:55Speaker 1: We're trending up. We're positive here. This is a positive show. Anyway,
- 38:59Speaker 1: you got one. Just got to stack your chips to
- 39:03Speaker 1: get to. Let's get to what some people are calling
- 39:05Speaker 1: the best part of the show, trending down. We talked
- 39:08Speaker 1: about them. Stefanski and the Falcons. Bijan touched the ball.
- 39:13Speaker 1: 11 times. If you want to win the football game,
- 39:17Speaker 1: let B. John run. I think Michael Penix has done
- 39:20Speaker 1: a really nice job, but you can't go in and
- 39:23Speaker 1: give 31 points and you're losing 31-7 and just expect
- 39:27Speaker 1: Michael Penix Jr. to come back and to roll. There
- 39:31Speaker 1: has to be a better offensive plan. There has to
- 39:33Speaker 1: be a better defensive plan. He needs to be the
- 39:34Speaker 1: focal point of this offense. He needs to have 20 touches.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Defense just got absolutely torched. The Falcons had a top
- 39:42Speaker 1: five rush defense They only allowed 98 yards in their
- 39:46Speaker 1: 26-pass defense. Yeah, that's right. Gave up over 300 yards,
- 39:50Speaker 1: and quite honestly, a lot of that came in the
- 39:51Speaker 1: first half. So it's a winnable division. You can get
- 39:55Speaker 1: back on trending up next week, Falcons fans. You can
- 39:57Speaker 1: do it. However, they are absolutely trending down. That's right, Kent.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Go ahead and just put up the next team. Oh,
- 40:05Speaker 1: my gosh. Philadelphia Eagles. Dude, let me... Nick Sirianni is
- 40:13Speaker 1: on trending down again. The Philadelphia Eagles are on trending
- 40:16Speaker 1: down again. Four straight losses. Tanner McKee started for quarterback
- 40:22Speaker 1: at the injured. Jalen Hurts, which we're going to get into.
- 40:24Speaker 1: They lose at home to Carolina. Bryce Young thought he
- 40:26Speaker 1: played pretty well. Chubba Hubbard gave up 120 yards or had,
- 40:30Speaker 1: excuse me, had 120 yards on the ground. Here's my
- 40:35Speaker 1: issue with the offense. You have a backup quarterback. You
- 40:37Speaker 1: want to let them spin it. The game gets out
- 40:39Speaker 1: of hand. You have 35 rushing yards. I get it.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Saquon didn't play for the second straight week. He had
- 40:45Speaker 1: a lot of injuries. I feel like you're just absolutely
- 40:47Speaker 1: decimated by injury. Nolan Smith leaves with a concussion. Jordan
- 40:49Speaker 1: Davis leaves with an ankle injury. Philadelphia, he punted eight times.
- 40:53Speaker 1: They lost the time. I mean, it was an overall,
- 40:56Speaker 1: like the boos that are raining down right now. Like,
- 41:00Speaker 1: first of all, Jalen Hurts, obviously like blood clot. And
- 41:04Speaker 1: I hope he gets better. I've seen some stupid ass
- 41:06Speaker 1: takes on if they're hiding him or if they're, dude,
- 41:09Speaker 1: he has a blood clot. Let me just say like,
- 41:12Speaker 1: get better because that thing is really serious. And I've
- 41:14Speaker 1: said this all along, like getting to the football side
- 41:17Speaker 1: of things, because that's sort of my job, is that
- 41:20Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts this year was a massive litmus test offensively.
- 41:26Speaker 1: And the games he's played have not looked good. It's
- 41:31Speaker 1: just going to be such an interesting dynamic this offseason
- 41:35Speaker 1: in Philly. I'm not saying they're going to trade him.
- 41:38Speaker 1: I'm not saying he's not going to be their quarterback.
- 41:40Speaker 1: but it will be interesting knowing how aggressive and wanting
- 41:47Speaker 1: to always be making moves at Howie Roseman is. It's
- 41:52Speaker 1: going to be really interesting storyline, in my opinion, to
- 41:55Speaker 1: watch and to follow what happens. How do they handle it?
- 42:01Speaker 1: Is Nick Sirianni, does Nick Sirianni have enough job security?
- 42:05Speaker 1: I know Klump is watching this thing. Shut up, Chase. Um,
- 42:09Speaker 1: But does he have enough job security to make it
- 42:11Speaker 1: through a five or six win season? If you're Jalen Hurts,
- 42:14Speaker 1: do you even want to come back? Lane Johnson retiring,
- 42:18Speaker 1: you're losing guys left and right. You're just, it's not
- 42:20Speaker 1: a great season. And you know how Philly fans are
- 42:23Speaker 1: with their team. They're not going to love it. That's
- 42:26Speaker 1: enough for that topic. Let's go to the topic number three,
- 42:29Speaker 1: trending down number three, the Rams. Oh, I covered their
- 42:34Speaker 1: Monday night football game versus the Bills. They lost in overtime.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Now they lose 18-16 to the Cardinals. A 2-4 start.
- 42:41Speaker 1: You lose to the 1-4 Cardinals at home. Quite honestly,
- 42:45Speaker 1: right down the road from SoFi, they probably had more
- 42:49Speaker 1: fans than you. We never get Rams fans. We never
- 42:53Speaker 1: get Chargers fans at SoFi. They're also 1-3 at home.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Sean McVay admitted to bad coaching last week for Buffalo.
- 43:01Speaker 1: They cut their starting kicker, Harrison Mevis, then kicker Blake
- 43:06Speaker 1: Groupie gets hurt with the lefty injury after cutting Harrison Mevis,
- 43:09Speaker 1: who was a Mizzou guy. He had no kicker, came
- 43:12Speaker 1: back in the fourth quarter. I understand. I thought kicked
- 43:15Speaker 1: a game winning field goal. But you go out and
- 43:18Speaker 1: you don't. How about this? You don't even allow a touchdown.
- 43:24Speaker 1: And you lose the game. The Rams lose to the Cardinals.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Chad Ryland went six for six on field goals. The
- 43:30Speaker 1: Rams are last place in the NFC West. Big pass
- 43:34Speaker 1: play at the end. It was a little bit crazy ending.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Big pass play. One of the last plays of the game.
- 43:42Speaker 1: And there was unnecessary roughness. That added 15 yards to
- 43:44Speaker 1: allow the Cardinals to get in field goal range. Going
- 43:46Speaker 1: to go ahead and put it out there. Don't think
- 43:48Speaker 1: that was unnecessary roughness. This is football. You hit. And
- 43:53Speaker 1: what's even more interesting to me is the Cardinals have
- 43:56Speaker 1: no idea who they're at. I thought they might have
- 43:58Speaker 1: played Carson Beck. Maybe that's the case. But how about this?
- 44:02Speaker 1: How about this stat for just the Rams and SoFi
- 44:04Speaker 1: and the Chargers and SoFi? The Cardinals are 2-0 in SoFi.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Good pull, Mitch. 2-0. The Cardinals are 2-0. You know
- 44:11Speaker 1: how many wins the Rams have in four games at SoFi?
- 44:15Speaker 1: They have one. You know how many Chargers wins are
- 44:18Speaker 1: at SoFi? Zero. So the Arizona Cardinals are 2-0. in
- 44:24Speaker 1: SoFi Stadium and the Rams and the Chargers combined have
- 44:27Speaker 1: one win at SoFi. That tells you all you need
- 44:31Speaker 1: to know about the Rams. All right, favorite part of
- 44:35Speaker 1: the show for me. We call it good ball. We
- 44:37Speaker 1: call it bad ball. This is quick and to the point.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Am I good ball winner? That's right. We are going defense. Chase,
- 44:42Speaker 1: you just went defense? Yeah, we went defense. Bears cornerback,
- 44:46Speaker 1: Kyler Gordon. How about this? First game of the season.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Returned from a calf injury. All you do in your
- 44:54Speaker 1: first game back from the season, four tackles, three sacks,
- 44:56Speaker 1: two forced fumbles. Huh? That's like a season storybook ending.
- 45:01Speaker 1: That's like a season stat line for a DB. I
- 45:05Speaker 1: will say I love how Dennis Allen used them, blitzing
- 45:08Speaker 1: left and right, figuring out, disguising, going from this look
- 45:13Speaker 1: to that look, helped Chicago win 31-23 on the road.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Bears defense ranks upper middle so far of the pack
- 45:21Speaker 1: and mainly all... Defensive categories. I think they're actually a
- 45:26Speaker 1: top 12 defense. Could be a top 10 defense. I
- 45:30Speaker 1: think adding Gordon could push them to elite defense. And
- 45:33Speaker 1: you have Caleb Williams back. You have all this back.
- 45:35Speaker 1: That's right. You know how hard it is on this
- 45:38Speaker 1: show to make a good ball winner a defender? That's right.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Kyler Gordon. He got it. And then go ahead and
- 45:47Speaker 1: put it up. Yep. Right there. Right there. That's Justin Herbert.
- 45:54Speaker 1: And honestly, you could put the entire Chargers team on here.
- 45:56Speaker 1: You could put Jim Harbaugh on here. You could put
- 45:57Speaker 1: Mike Adanos on there. But the quarterback gets way too
- 46:01Speaker 1: much credit when things go wrong and way too much
- 46:05Speaker 1: blame when things go wrong as well. Sorry, that should
- 46:08Speaker 1: have been right. But here's the deal. Justin Herbert, 22
- 46:11Speaker 1: of 37, 204 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception. Did not
- 46:16Speaker 1: look comfortable at all versus Chiefs team. Only has one
- 46:20Speaker 1: touchdown pass in every single game this season. And we
- 46:22Speaker 1: said it earlier, five touchdowns, eight interceptions. But more importantly,
- 46:27Speaker 1: the Chargers are not a bad team. Back-to-back 11-win seasons,
- 46:29Speaker 1: 12-win seasons. And the Chargers are now 0-6, completely outside
- 46:34Speaker 1: of the playoff picture. And I said this before, and
- 46:38Speaker 1: I'll say it again. I think that the Chargers, at times,
- 46:42Speaker 1: you've got a very difficult path ahead and you have
- 46:45Speaker 1: a very interesting offseason to figure out. what you're going
- 46:49Speaker 1: to do. All right, let's get to the two minute drill.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Two minute drill every week is where I'm just going
- 46:54Speaker 1: to go through some crazy stats. I'm just going to
- 46:57Speaker 1: tell you what's happening, what's on my mind, what's not.
- 46:59Speaker 1: It might be a minute and a half. It might
- 47:02Speaker 1: be three minutes, but we don't have a clock. It
- 47:04Speaker 1: doesn't really matter. Let's go. How about for other notes,
- 47:08Speaker 1: Steelers get it done in overtime. That was a dirty,
- 47:10Speaker 1: dirty game. Jeremy Bernard, 11 catches, 87 yards. DK Metcalf
- 47:14Speaker 1: had 11 catches, 93 yards. I mean, 22 catches between
- 47:17Speaker 1: those two receivers. Jeremy Bernard, to me, Jalen Ramsey, throw
- 47:21Speaker 1: it back a little bit. Ten tackles, four tackles were lost,
- 47:24Speaker 1: two sacks. They end up winning against the Bucs. Jalen Daniels, though,
- 47:29Speaker 1: showing some promise. He could be a guy that we're
- 47:31Speaker 1: going to talk to and talk about because I do
- 47:34Speaker 1: think it's Baker's team, but you don't see many undrafted
- 47:36Speaker 1: rookie quarterbacks look this good in their second or third start.
- 47:40Speaker 1: How about Drake May and the Patriots win a dirty
- 47:42Speaker 1: game against the Jets? A.J. Brown, Back healthy with the Patriots.
- 47:46Speaker 1: He was targeted a bunch. Struggling a little bit with
- 47:48Speaker 1: the chemistry with Drake May. That's obviously the case when
- 47:51Speaker 1: you haven't been out. Targeted 10 times. Only three catches,
- 47:54Speaker 1: 27 yards. A couple drops. It'll take him a chance
- 47:56Speaker 1: to get going. I think he completely changes that entire team.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Alvin Kamara, too. Just big Saints fan over here, right?
- 48:03Speaker 1: Played five years of my career there. Becomes one of
- 48:06Speaker 1: six players ever to have 5,000 rushing yards and 5,000
- 48:11Speaker 1: receiving yards. I remember when he came into the league.
- 48:13Speaker 1: And I got to throw him the rock on scout
- 48:16Speaker 1: team because they didn't know he was that good. I
- 48:17Speaker 1: think it was a third or fourth round pick. And
- 48:19Speaker 1: all of a sudden, he's sort of tearing it up.
- 48:21Speaker 1: And then he goes to the first team, obviously starter
- 48:24Speaker 1: in legend. He'll go down as a legend for the Saints.
- 48:28Speaker 1: And then we said it already, but the Rams lost
- 48:30Speaker 1: to the Cardinals without even allowing a touchdown. Chad Ryland,
- 48:33Speaker 1: I mean, you might get good ball next week. I
- 48:34Speaker 1: don't know. I don't give kickers good balls. Rams are
- 48:36Speaker 1: officially in last place in the AFC West. Guys, we
- 48:40Speaker 1: did it. We did the week six recap reaction. Make
- 48:42Speaker 1: sure you check out my breakdown show tomorrow on my
- 48:45Speaker 1: channel where we're choosing three quarterbacks and we're breaking down film.
- 48:48Speaker 1: We're also ranking my top six quarterbacks of the week.
- 48:51Speaker 1: See you guys later.
