- 0:05Speaker 1: My name is Paul Barren. Welcome back in the tech path.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Let's get started. I do want to thank our sponsor,
- 0:10Speaker 1: and that is I Trust Capital, which by the way,
- 0:13Speaker 1: you can also get gold and silver over there on
- 0:16Speaker 1: your CRYPTOIRA as well as ethereum, so all that can
- 0:19Speaker 1: be managed over on I Trust Capital. We are nearing
- 0:22Speaker 1: the deadline for your twenty twenty four IRA contribution. This
- 0:25Speaker 1: might be a good one for you guys. All right,
- 0:28Speaker 1: so today I want to kind of break this down
- 0:29Speaker 1: on gold, ethereum, and really kind of the overall value
- 0:33Speaker 1: of the dollar. And it gets interesting here because there's
- 0:35Speaker 1: a couple of things that I want you to pay
- 0:37Speaker 1: attention to. Gold price is officially surge above thirty one
- 0:39Speaker 1: to fifty, this again continuing to climb. Gold has been
- 0:42Speaker 1: on a tear all year long, and of course Peter
- 0:44Speaker 1: Schiff has been just chastising the bitcoin community and his
- 0:49Speaker 1: nay statement right, here's false narrative. Bitcoin is digital goal
- 0:52Speaker 1: is being exposed, Growth is slowing, inflation is rising as
- 0:56Speaker 1: stagflation fears are starting to spread, and his basis is
- 0:59Speaker 1: on tear. Tariff uncertainty is adding to the pressure on
- 1:02Speaker 1: financial markets. And then of course gold hits its all
- 1:05Speaker 1: time record high and bitcoin struggling to maintain above eighty k. Now,
- 1:10Speaker 1: if you look at that, it appears that Peter Schiff
- 1:12Speaker 1: might have a point. All right, So I want to
- 1:14Speaker 1: show a chart here, and this goes back to March tenth,
- 1:18Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, and you guys will remember Silicon Valley
- 1:20Speaker 1: National Bank. That was the big explosion that happened in
- 1:24Speaker 1: the crypto community, and many people looked at that and said, well,
- 1:28Speaker 1: bitcoin is the safe haven escape here, and in reality
- 1:32Speaker 1: what happened was this is really just bitcoin people and
- 1:36Speaker 1: crypto people moving to bitcoin, not necessarily going into long
- 1:42Speaker 1: term store of value. And I think that's the point
- 1:45Speaker 1: that we're making, is that gold actually in this particular case,
- 1:49Speaker 1: especially in these times of uncertainty, might be the safe haven. Now,
- 1:52Speaker 1: how is it connected to ethereum is the question I
- 1:55Speaker 1: want to go further into this. Why gold is outshining
- 1:57Speaker 1: bitcoin as the safe haven? This, of course is going
- 2:00Speaker 1: against the tariff chaos. Right now, look at the comparison
- 2:04Speaker 1: on this chart. Let me kind of zoom in on
- 2:06Speaker 1: that for you guys right there, because what they're looking
- 2:08Speaker 1: at this is based on a bunch of financial advisors
- 2:11Speaker 1: that basically survey and say what they think would perform
- 2:14Speaker 1: better if we continue to see this full blown trade
- 2:16Speaker 1: war occur. Gold became one of the top selections, and
- 2:21Speaker 1: of course you see the thirty year treasury commodities and
- 2:23Speaker 1: then T bills, etc. But Bitcoin falling down really down
- 2:27Speaker 1: to what is that number six position right now at
- 2:29Speaker 1: three percent of that particular survey of financial advisors. So
- 2:34Speaker 1: that's the people that are telling the biggest asset managers
- 2:37Speaker 1: and private capital in the world where to go when
- 2:41Speaker 1: we start to see this uncertainty. Okay, so I want
- 2:43Speaker 1: to jump to this portion of the article. In this
- 2:46Speaker 1: same section, Gold's no longer just a hedge against inflation.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It's being treated as a hedge against everything. Geopolitical rests,
- 2:53Speaker 1: de globalization, which we've talked about before, fiscal dysfunction, which
- 2:57Speaker 1: is the deficit, which what we're facing right now, and
- 3:00Speaker 1: now weaponized trades. So all of these things are aligned.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Very interesting. I think my friend Andy Schechner would say,
- 3:06Speaker 1: this is exactly the point of where gold's value could
- 3:09Speaker 1: be going. But if you look at tokenized commodities, what
- 3:13Speaker 1: is connected to tokenized gold, Well, it's ethereum. Look at
- 3:16Speaker 1: the growth of what we've seen just on tokenized commodities,
- 3:20Speaker 1: all based on Ethereum. Another thing that I want to
- 3:23Speaker 1: hit on right here. Remember we had the Tman's guy
- 3:26Speaker 1: on not just last week, go back and check that
- 3:28Speaker 1: video out. He talked about tokenizing gold and that it
- 3:30Speaker 1: was going to be launching. We were trying to figure
- 3:32Speaker 1: out which chain and what they were going to launch on,
- 3:35Speaker 1: and in fact what they ended up doing was launching
- 3:37Speaker 1: on Ethereum. So Timan's now available over on the Ethereum
- 3:42Speaker 1: network where we're going to see tokenized gold. All this
- 3:44Speaker 1: again good value for tokenized gold overall. Other things I
- 3:49Speaker 1: want to hit on whatever happened to the gold audit
- 3:51Speaker 1: at Fort Knox. This is a big factor that Elon's
- 3:54Speaker 1: been kind of talking about, and also Trump has been
- 3:57Speaker 1: talking about. And there is a certain amount I don't
- 4:00Speaker 1: know the term exactly, but there is a certain amount
- 4:02Speaker 1: of gold. We'll call it vaporware, so to speak. It's
- 4:05Speaker 1: not really there in the world. And this includes other banks,
- 4:09Speaker 1: central banks, all sorts of digital asset holders, and people
- 4:13Speaker 1: are starting to get a little concerned about that because
- 4:14Speaker 1: it could value gold up. And this is something that
- 4:17Speaker 1: Scheckner has talked about before. But I want to go
- 4:19Speaker 1: to this clip real quick, because this is Elon talking
- 4:22Speaker 1: about the audit. Take a look.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Oh oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah right, oh yeah yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I think it would be awesome to live stream for knots.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I mean that would be really fun. You know, hopefully
- 4:35Speaker 2: it looks really cool, you know, open the doors, like,
- 4:39Speaker 2: is there is that really gold? Let's check?
- 4:45Speaker 1: This guy is getting home my nerves a little bit.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So the point he is made, I think the point
- 4:50Speaker 1: that everybody's making is that you can't nonchalantly just say
- 4:53Speaker 1: things like that because there are and could be severe
- 4:57Speaker 1: impacts on the market if there was any DBA now.
- 5:00Speaker 1: It could also be severe impact on the markets upward
- 5:03Speaker 1: if in fact people start to understand the value of
- 5:06Speaker 1: where gold could be going. All right, So I want
- 5:08Speaker 1: to go to this next clip because this is a
- 5:10Speaker 1: bunch of gold bugs that essentially are panicked because of
- 5:14Speaker 1: the potential here around tokenized audits. So it could create
- 5:17Speaker 1: a big rush on gold. Take a look.
- 5:20Speaker 3: This is why I'm kind of bullish on just owning
- 5:22Speaker 3: any of gold space things right now, because if they
- 5:26Speaker 3: go and audit Fort Knox and all the gold's there,
- 5:30Speaker 3: like is gold going to sell off. No, no, but
- 5:34Speaker 3: if they do go to Fort Knox an audit and
- 5:37Speaker 3: they're like, there's only like ten percent is supposed to
- 5:40Speaker 3: be here, physical gold is going to go, you would
- 5:42Speaker 3: super boling.
- 5:43Speaker 4: The tokenization sort of already started with like digitization and
- 5:46Speaker 4: digital trading. So you've got these ETFs, the I Shares
- 5:49Speaker 4: Gold Trust, but every year they have to pay fees
- 5:52Speaker 4: on that goal that they keep in the vault, and
- 5:54Speaker 4: they pay those fees by making new shares of the
- 5:56Speaker 4: stock and so that sort of like dilutes the ownership.
- 6:00Speaker 4: So actually only ninety seven percent of the shares of
- 6:02Speaker 4: the GLD are backed by actual gold. And this is
- 6:06Speaker 4: something interesting that I learned from talking to an executive
- 6:09Speaker 4: at I want to say, she's at NUMONT. Ten percent
- 6:12Speaker 4: of the gold in vaults around the world is, as
- 6:14Speaker 4: she put it, spurious.
- 6:17Speaker 5: So it's fake.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I onant of guys for you guys to remember
- 6:21Speaker 1: we did We've done several videos on this, the concept
- 6:24Speaker 1: of bricks and what it's going to look like if
- 6:26Speaker 1: we see a reserve system within the Bricks nations, and
- 6:29Speaker 1: one thing that they've been trying to do for quite
- 6:32Speaker 1: some time. Part of this was built on the idea
- 6:34Speaker 1: that bitcoin could be used in terms of transfer cross
- 6:38Speaker 1: border payments, and this is where they have basically abandoned this.
- 6:42Speaker 1: If you look further into the article, it says taking
- 6:44Speaker 1: into account digital technologies and digital financial assets, this is
- 6:49Speaker 1: the thing that they're going after from a settlement side
- 6:52Speaker 1: of things, which means we're seeing more of this go
- 6:54Speaker 1: on to the Ethereum network.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Now.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I want to also show you a comparison right here
- 6:59Speaker 1: on gold and the annual Central Bank net purchases. So
- 7:02Speaker 1: this is continuing to climb, and this is going to
- 7:07Speaker 1: start to put I think, more and more digital assets,
- 7:10Speaker 1: especially on the Ethereum network. When it comes to commodities
- 7:14Speaker 1: such as gold. All of this is going to be climbing.
- 7:16Speaker 1: So if you're playing into this, you've got to look
- 7:18Speaker 1: at what some of the big players are doing. One
- 7:21Speaker 1: of them, largest bank in Russia right now, is tokenizing
- 7:24Speaker 1: its gold as a digital asset. If you go further
- 7:27Speaker 1: into the article, right here says their blockchain solution was
- 7:30Speaker 1: originally based on hyperlegic fabric and then however, it plans
- 7:34Speaker 1: to open up a range of participants to new include
- 7:36Speaker 1: consumers and then at the end it's announced that the
- 7:39Speaker 1: blockchain is now compatible with Ethereum. Also, when you go
- 7:42Speaker 1: over to Switzerland, the largest over there in terms of
- 7:45Speaker 1: a banking giant, they've also been experimenting with blockchain. So
- 7:48Speaker 1: they came in and said, now that UBS has completed
- 7:52Speaker 1: a proof of concept for its UBS key for gold,
- 7:55Speaker 1: this is offering Ethereum Layer two network on Zksinc. This
- 7:59Speaker 1: is the point that it gets it's into because Swiss
- 8:01Speaker 1: clients now could purchase direct a direct claim to physical
- 8:05Speaker 1: gold and token is securities. So this again are tokenized
- 8:09Speaker 1: assets on commodities like this. This is just mel gold
- 8:12Speaker 1: branded a small percentage in turn of that. But if
- 8:14Speaker 1: you add it to lending polls and you go into
- 8:17Speaker 1: adding USDC in there some stable coin things get pretty interesting.
- 8:21Speaker 1: In around eight percent in terms of yields. Now, I
- 8:24Speaker 1: want to go over to a clip because this will
- 8:25Speaker 1: get into where do yields come from from traditional banks
- 8:29Speaker 1: and how do they treat them. Take a look, where
- 8:32Speaker 1: does this yield come from?
- 8:33Speaker 3: Because doesn't gold just sit there?
- 8:35Speaker 5: Yes, it does, but it doesn't have to. Banks love
- 8:39Speaker 5: goals as a collateral. It's the number one choice for
- 8:43Speaker 5: banks when you put down collateral and then you borrow
- 8:46Speaker 5: or take out a loan. If we put to say
- 8:49Speaker 5: one thousand dollars worth of gold or a million or
- 8:51Speaker 5: ten million, you can take out eighty five percent or
- 8:54Speaker 5: up to eighty five percent of the value of that
- 8:57Speaker 5: gold that you've put down, well, and we would take
- 8:59Speaker 5: it out in fiat. What's considered to be the most
- 9:02Speaker 5: less risky, low risk would be, for example, three months
- 9:06Speaker 5: rolling US Treasury bills. I think it's now four point five.
- 9:10Speaker 5: That's dropping a little bit. The cost of the loan
- 9:12Speaker 5: is also incredibly cheap. It's between one and one and
- 9:14Speaker 5: a half percent. So even if we're playing with short
- 9:17Speaker 5: term te bails that don't pay out a lot, still
- 9:21Speaker 5: leaves something for us to earn. But importantly, the tokenholder
- 9:26Speaker 5: then gets a share and we pay that share out.
- 9:30Speaker 1: So when you look at that clip and the potential
- 9:32Speaker 1: here for institutions to dive into DeFi, well, ethereum is
- 9:37Speaker 1: the route, and obviously the opportunity here is to leverage
- 9:41Speaker 1: a lot of those assets into DeFi themselves. So again
- 9:44Speaker 1: better gains on yields within a DeFi ecosystem. All right,
- 9:48Speaker 1: So you look at a clip here, This is Larry
- 9:50Speaker 1: Fink and this concerns me a little bit because he
- 9:53Speaker 1: has been very bullish on the economy and the growth
- 9:56Speaker 1: and the opportunities, and I fear that he is losing
- 9:59Speaker 1: hope in the economy as it is. Take a look.
- 10:02Speaker 6: I've received a lot of calls. I received a call
- 10:04Speaker 6: from a pretty famous actor. Should I sell? I mean,
- 10:07Speaker 6: I get all this stuff. Oh my god, things are
- 10:09Speaker 6: coming in and I just go make a movie. We
- 10:12Speaker 6: had that wealth effect, and now in the last six weeks,
- 10:16Speaker 6: we've had, you know, a real reversal in psychology, and
- 10:21Speaker 6: I think this is going to take some time until
- 10:23Speaker 6: we have a better understanding where the economy is going,
- 10:27Speaker 6: a better understanding of the policies that the current administration
- 10:30Speaker 6: is going to be building out. I don't want to
- 10:32Speaker 6: be you know this, this is not webcast, is it? Guys?
- 10:37Speaker 6: You know, I would not be surprised to see elevated
- 10:40Speaker 6: inflation over the next five months. I would not be
- 10:42Speaker 6: surprised to see And across every CI talked to, we're
- 10:45Speaker 6: starting to talk about are more fearful economy going on
- 10:50Speaker 6: right now? The question is going to follow another eight
- 10:53Speaker 6: percent from here, and that's a possibility. It's a buying
- 10:58Speaker 6: opportunity every time. When you think about all the people
- 11:02Speaker 6: who panicked during COVID, those who invested during the height
- 11:06Speaker 6: of fear were the biggest beneficiaries of that market setback.
- 11:11Speaker 1: He goes into a report that Blackrock puts out and
- 11:15Speaker 1: they focus in on the federal debt held by the public.
- 11:18Speaker 1: He says, US doesn't get it's dead under control. If
- 11:20Speaker 1: defits keep alloting, America risks losing its position as digital
- 11:24Speaker 1: ass two digital assets like bitcoin. Now he talks about
- 11:28Speaker 1: that further in here, says, to be clear, I'm obviously
- 11:31Speaker 1: not anti digital assets, so he's saying far from it.
- 11:35Speaker 1: If you look into the next section, and what he's
- 11:37Speaker 1: talking about here is tokenization, and this is something that
- 11:41Speaker 1: Larry Fink talks about often. Blackrock is already starting to
- 11:44Speaker 1: show their hand that their belief in tokenization and if
- 11:48Speaker 1: that is going to be a factor in the growth
- 11:50Speaker 1: of this economy that occurs, and it looks like it's
- 11:53Speaker 1: going to ethereum will be one of the key platforms
- 11:56Speaker 1: that it will grow on. All Right, So when you
- 11:58Speaker 1: look at the current situation of the dominance of the
- 12:01Speaker 1: US dollar, then you have to kind of consider out
- 12:03Speaker 1: what's happening within the stable coin market. This, of course
- 12:05Speaker 1: is the Stable Act going in the Committee this week.
- 12:08Speaker 1: If it's favorable, the bill goes to the House for
- 12:10Speaker 1: further consideration, and most likely this could combine with the
- 12:13Speaker 1: Genius Act and that will be the one that helps
- 12:16Speaker 1: this get through the Senate. Senate of course pass their
- 12:19Speaker 1: version of the Genius Act three weeks ago. Next step
- 12:22Speaker 1: will be an eventual Senate vote. All of this still
- 12:25Speaker 1: very positive. All this has to be done before August,
- 12:29Speaker 1: so think about that. Then you have Circle, who is
- 12:31Speaker 1: an issuer of USDC, who's hired JP Morgan and City
- 12:35Speaker 1: for its long way to IPO. So it's likely that
- 12:38Speaker 1: we're going to see something active in terms of stable
- 12:40Speaker 1: coins within JP Morgan and City Bank going forward. So
- 12:44Speaker 1: when you look at a lot of what's happening on
- 12:45Speaker 1: the regulatory front, and you consider kind of the situation
- 12:49Speaker 1: that is playing out right now around token iss gold
- 12:52Speaker 1: and also stable coins becoming a huge catalyst within the market,
- 12:57Speaker 1: all of that is based on the Ethereum ecosystem. Ethereum
- 13:01Speaker 1: also has reached possibly its bottom. If you look at
- 13:04Speaker 1: this chart right here, we are nearing it, and right
- 13:07Speaker 1: now is a kind of a point of no return
- 13:09Speaker 1: right now. So we're watching Ethereum very very closely as
- 13:12Speaker 1: we get into this next cycle, even with these tariff
- 13:15Speaker 1: wars potentially on the looming front. Also, don't forget Ethereum
- 13:20Speaker 1: has a huge upgrade happening. This is a whole stack
- 13:23Speaker 1: of EIP processes that are coming through. This is what
- 13:26Speaker 1: they call the Pectrum Mainenet. This is going to be
- 13:28Speaker 1: launching on the thirtieth of April, so it's the largest
- 13:31Speaker 1: upgrade of Ethereum in terms of included EIPs. So this
- 13:36Speaker 1: is a big deal I think going forward. Now the
- 13:38Speaker 1: question is does people really understand what it means and
- 13:41Speaker 1: will they take advantage of it? And do we see
- 13:43Speaker 1: if eth continue to move up, if we continue to
- 13:46Speaker 1: see gold hedging up, So let me know when the
