- 0:23Speaker 1: Hi, this is Hank Hendergraf, president of the Christian Research
- 0:25Speaker 1: Institute and host of the Hank Unplugged podcast. As some
- 0:29Speaker 1: of you may know, I'm doing a series on Sharia law.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And the reason I'm doing this series is that Sharia
- 0:38Speaker 1: law seems to be in the news today. For example,
- 0:44Speaker 1: in my last podcast, I referenced Abdul El-Sayed. He, of course,
- 0:50Speaker 1: the Democratic nominee for the 2026 U.S. Senate in the
- 0:55Speaker 1: state of Michigan. And I mentioned him because he is
- 0:59Speaker 1: a man who is remarkably proud of what I would
- 1:03Speaker 1: call the horror Sharia law. He is someone who has
- 1:10Speaker 1: even had the temerity to favorably compare Sharia law with
- 1:16Speaker 1: Christian canon law as though, well, they're six of one
- 1:22Speaker 1: and half a dozen of the other. My goal in
- 1:26Speaker 1: this particular podcast is different from the last podcast. My
- 1:32Speaker 1: goal in the last podcast was to provide an overview
- 1:35Speaker 1: on the horrors of Sharia law. And so in context,
- 1:40Speaker 1: in the last podcast, I mentioned former President Barack Obama,
- 1:44Speaker 1: who claims that as a student of history, he is
- 1:49Speaker 1: in a very unique position to understand what he calls
- 1:55Speaker 1: civilization's debt to Islam. And so with soaring rhetoric. He
- 2:02Speaker 1: articulated the progress that the world has experienced during Islam's
- 2:07Speaker 1: 14 centuries, and he notes that throughout history Islam has
- 2:12Speaker 1: demonstrated through words and deeds the possibility of religious tolerance
- 2:18Speaker 1: and racial equality. And yet myriads worldwide who daily experience
- 2:25Speaker 1: Sharia law firsthand hardly share Obama's enthusiasm. And that is
- 2:34Speaker 1: particularly the case with women. This podcast is devoted to
- 2:42Speaker 1: that singular subject. The fact that no group is more
- 2:49Speaker 1: harmed by Sharia law than our women. As a defender
- 2:55Speaker 1: of Sharia law, people like Abdul El-Sayed understand that fact
- 3:02Speaker 1: better than most. They understand in particular clarity the reality
- 3:11Speaker 1: that Muslim women who complain about the inequities of Sharia
- 3:16Speaker 1: law have suffered untold consequences. Because plainly put, Sharia law
- 3:28Speaker 1: subjugates women in virtually every dimension of their lives. Now,
- 3:37Speaker 1: let me make a contrast. I always say contrast is
- 3:40Speaker 1: the conduit to clarity. And by way of contrast, about
- 3:44Speaker 1: 100 years ago, we had another president, Theodore Roosevelt, who
- 3:50Speaker 1: spoke of the profundity of biblical ethics without which he
- 3:57Speaker 1: said we would lose all the standards by which we
- 4:00Speaker 1: now judge both public and private morals. What a contrast
- 4:06Speaker 1: with men like Abdul and Obama, who not only disagree,
- 4:14Speaker 1: but who demonstrate remarkable disdain for the Christian Bible. Let
- 4:21Speaker 1: me give you an example. In his book, The Audacity
- 4:25Speaker 1: of Hope, Barack Obama goes as far as to assert
- 4:29Speaker 1: that Leviticus suggests slavery is all right. And then he
- 4:36Speaker 1: says Deuteronomy suggests stoning your child if he strays from
- 4:41Speaker 1: the faith. Of course, the implication of his assertions are
- 4:47Speaker 1: very hard to mistake. The implication is quite plainly that
- 4:54Speaker 1: the Bible is littered with unthinkable error, that no God
- 5:00Speaker 1: worthy of worship would proclaim slavery to be okay, and
- 5:04Speaker 1: that no parent, at least no parent in his right mind,
- 5:09Speaker 1: would stone a child who strays away from the faith.
- 5:14Speaker 1: What is particularly striking is that someone who prides himself
- 5:21Speaker 1: on his historical acumen could be so deficient in apprehending
- 5:28Speaker 1: the main and plain meaning of the biblical text. Because
- 5:32Speaker 1: as should be sufficiently evident to anyone reading the biblical text,
- 5:38Speaker 1: the Bible nowhere extols the virtues of slavery. Quite to
- 5:45Speaker 1: the contrary. The Bible roundly denounces slavery as sin. In fact,
- 5:53Speaker 1: the New Testament goes so far as to put slave
- 5:56Speaker 1: traders in the same category as murderers, adulterers, as perverts,
- 6:06Speaker 1: as liars. And in the Old Testament, slavery was only
- 6:13Speaker 1: sanctioned due to economic reality, never racial or sexual prejudice.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And therefore, while Scripture certainly recognizes the reality of slavery,
- 6:26Speaker 1: it never promotes the practice of slavery. In fact, as
- 6:31Speaker 1: Barack Obama well knows, it was the application of biblical
- 6:36Speaker 1: principles that ultimately led to the overthrow of slavery, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: that both in ancient Israel as well as in the
- 6:45Speaker 1: United States of America. And therefore, to suggest that the
- 6:49Speaker 1: Bible teaches parents to stone a child who strays from
- 6:53Speaker 1: the faith is a disturbing mischaracterization of the books of
- 6:59Speaker 1: the Bible, particularly the book of Deuteronomy. And as even
- 7:04Speaker 1: the most cursory perusal of context makes plain, the male
- 7:09Speaker 1: in question in the biblical text is not a child,
- 7:12Speaker 1: and that person is morally culpable of extravagantly wicked behavior.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Behavior that threatens the health and safety of the entire community.
- 7:28Speaker 1: And thus for former President Barack Obama to claim the
- 7:32Speaker 1: moral high ground over the Bible is the height of duplicity.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Particularly in that he has personally sanctioned the systematic slaughter
- 7:44Speaker 1: of innocent children in the second and third trimester of
- 7:48Speaker 1: fetal development. Children. children who clearly deserve protection rather than
- 7:56Speaker 1: capital punishment. And what is particularly troubling is that men
- 8:04Speaker 1: like Obama, as well as the aforementioned Democratic Senate candidate,
- 8:10Speaker 1: Abdul El-Sayed, as well as many others who support them,
- 8:15Speaker 1: they all seem hell-bent on lauding Sharia as the most
- 8:19Speaker 1: wonderful system of not only law and light, but life itself.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And that despite the reality that quite literally no one
- 8:29Speaker 1: is more harmed by Sharia than our women. Women who
- 8:34Speaker 1: according to Sharia are valued as less than half a man.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And men who according to Sharia are afforded the right
- 8:43Speaker 1: to beat their wives. the right of practicing polygamy, and
- 8:51Speaker 1: the fact that from the perspective of Sharia, a woman
- 8:55Speaker 1: is considered naked if any part of her body is
- 8:59Speaker 1: visible except, of course, for face and hands. Obama and Al-Sayed,
- 9:08Speaker 1: they know all of this and more. And despite that fact,
- 9:13Speaker 1: they laud Sharia and continue to denigrate Holy Scripture. They know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: for example, that in Surah 4, Allah via Gabriel tells
- 9:26Speaker 1: Muhammad that Muslim men may marry women of your choice, two, three,
- 9:33Speaker 1: or four. Whereas in Surah 33, Allah provides Muhammad with
- 9:41Speaker 1: divine sanction to marry any believing woman who dedicates her
- 9:45Speaker 1: soul to the prophet if the prophet wishes to wed her.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And contrary to Sharia apologists such as Abdul El-Sayed, the
- 9:59Speaker 1: very decrees of Allah enshrine inequality. Unlike men who can
- 10:07Speaker 1: have up to four wives, Allah does not afford women
- 10:10Speaker 1: the option to marry men of your choice, two, three,
- 10:13Speaker 1: or four. Moreover, while Allah allows a husband to beat
- 10:18Speaker 1: his wife, There's no Quranic provision for a wife to
- 10:23Speaker 1: beat her husband, nor can she initiate divorce. Only men
- 10:29Speaker 1: can do that, and that with relative ease. Plainly put,
- 10:37Speaker 1: there is no equality for women sorrowfully shackled by Sharia.
- 10:44Speaker 1: There's so much more that I could say, but I
- 10:45Speaker 1: think for now I'm gonna leave it at that. In
- 10:50Speaker 1: my next podcast, I propose to continue this series on
- 10:55Speaker 1: Sharia by delineating the Sharia perspective on war. This, I think,
- 11:01Speaker 1: is particularly relevant in light of the war in Iran. Also,
- 11:07Speaker 1: in essence, the world according to Sharia, and it's important
- 11:12Speaker 1: for people to know this, has been divided into two domains.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Into the house of Islam on the one hand, and
- 11:20Speaker 1: the house of war on the other hand. In other words,
- 11:22Speaker 1: those who are already living under Sharia and those who
- 11:26Speaker 1: are predestined to Sharia subjugation. And that, by the way,
- 11:33Speaker 1: is not radical Islam. It is just plain run of
- 11:39Speaker 1: the mill Islam. There's so much more that could be said, obviously,
- 11:46Speaker 1: about the way that Islam shackles women, the way that
- 11:52Speaker 1: Islam subjugates women. But obviously in a podcast, it's hard
- 11:59Speaker 1: to get to every single point or even see the
- 12:03Speaker 1: illustrations that underscore the point. I document all of that
- 12:08Speaker 1: in my book, Muslim, what you need to know about
- 12:11Speaker 1: the world's fastest growing religion. It's not the largest religion.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Christianity is still the largest religion, but it is the
- 12:18Speaker 1: fastest growing growing religion in the world. And it is
- 12:23Speaker 1: growing in myriad ways. One of the ways in which
- 12:27Speaker 1: it is growing is migration without assimilation. In my last podcast,
- 12:33Speaker 1: I described that as has been described by others, a
- 12:37Speaker 1: python swallowing its prey with a long and slow digestion.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I think this is one of the most critical issues
- 12:45Speaker 1: that we as Christians face People in general need to
- 12:50Speaker 1: wrap their minds around because Western civilization is in for
- 12:58Speaker 1: a wicked surprise if people do not wake up and
- 13:02Speaker 1: smell the coffee. Thanks for tuning in to this edition
- 13:05Speaker 1: of the Hank Unplugged podcast. I look forward to seeing
- 13:07Speaker 1: you next time with more of the podcast. Do remember,
