- 0:04My name is Victor Ferman. Some call me the Voice. I've always been
- 0:10fascinated with human nature, spirituality, science, and the crossroads at which they
- 0:16meet. Join me now and we will explore these topics and so much more
- 0:21with fascinating guests, authors and experts who will guide us to destination unlimited.
- 0:32Is there a profound and astonishing alignment between the ancient gnostic teachings and the modern
- 0:39science of quantum physics and philosophy. My guest this week on Destination Unlimited,
- 0:46the renowned linguist, historian, and spiritual philosopher Peter Canova, had a series
- 0:52of life changing spiritual experiences that put him on the path of studying and writing
- 0:58about spirituality and consciousness. He's the author of the twenty five times award winning
- 1:04First Souls trilogy and has contributed to the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
- 1:11His website is Peter Kanova dot com, and he joins me this week
- 1:15to share his path and the latest book, Quantum Spirituality, Science, Gnostic
- 1:21Mysticism, and Connecting with Source Consciousness. Please join me in welcoming to Destination
- 1:29Unlimited, Peter Kenova. Welcome Peter, Victor, how are you. Good
- 1:33to be with you. Good to be with you too, sir so Peter,
- 1:36please share with us your path and the life changing experiences that led to
- 1:41your exploration of and writing on spirituality and consciousness. Yeah. Well, when
- 1:49I was in my twenties, quite to my surprise, I found out that
- 1:53I was a very accurate medical intuitive. All people had to do was give
- 1:57me a name, age, and address at any anywhere in the world,
- 2:00and I could pretty accurately diagnose any medical, physical issues, or even psychological
- 2:07issues that people were having. And when I managed to push aside the disbelief
- 2:15and let my rational mind recede in all this, it opened up the floodgates
- 2:21for information that was coming from other dimensions. Would I would have experienced,
- 2:30I would experience things like psychometry, remote viewing, premonitions, and it just
- 2:39really I started to realize in essence that there was a whole another world out
- 2:45there, a whole unseen world. And I felt like a person who had
- 2:49maybe been in front of a radio tuning it for a long time. But
- 2:53finally I hit that one frequency, I hit that one station. I realized
- 2:55it was always there, always broadcasting, you know, twenty four seven.
- 3:00But I had to attune to it. Unfortunately I did. And you know,
- 3:05people come to this path by different ways. Some of it is a
- 3:08little bit more calculated in studious some people kind of fall into it spontaneously.
- 3:13With me, it was probably more of the spontaneous thing, but actually a
- 3:15little bit of both. So at that point I started to well, because
- 3:21I'm a Caffricorn and I'm still very practical person, I wanted to understand the
- 3:25nuts and bolts behind what I was experiencing and how these things would be possible.
- 3:30So I started studying ancient spiritual traditions consciousness, and that eventually led me
- 3:37to quantum physics because they really focus on pretty much the same thing, which
- 3:42is light, matter, and energy and consciousness. That comes down to all
- 3:46those things, whether you're looking at it from a quantum scientific standpoint or whether
- 3:50you're looking at it for a spiritual standpoint. So all those streams kind of
- 3:53converged in my research, and that was what the basis became of my recent
- 4:00Amazon best selling book, Quantum Spirituality. And as a fellow Capricorn, I
- 4:04totally understand I've had the benefit of being a Capricorn on the cusp of Aquarius
- 4:11so the aquarian side of me also takes effect when I start doing this type
- 4:15of work. And my fascination has always been with the crossroads of science and
- 4:18spirituality. So I have total understanding of what you're talking about. Before we
- 4:23discuss your latest book, Quantum Spirituality, please tell us about your multi award
- 4:28winning first Soul's trilogy, with titles including Pope Anna, Lisa, the Thirteenth
- 4:33Disciple, and the Light of Distant Suns. What inspired this amazing trilogy and
- 4:39please tell us a little about each one in the series. Yeah, sure,
- 4:43thank you for asking. Well, when I had these experiences and I
- 4:49started studying and I started understanding things, I realized that I had been through
- 4:56a life changing experience that propelled my life, I think in a better direction.
- 5:00Uh. I was and still am, an international businessman, but I
- 5:04largely changed the course of my direction to pursue these studies and write books,
- 5:11kind of turn the reins of the company more over to my brother for day
- 5:15to day operations, and I, you know, I kind of stepped back,
- 5:17took a big hitt and income and and you know, became became a
- 5:23writer, and I wanted to share what I had learned my experiences and what
- 5:29I had learned in order to try and help other people raise their own levels
- 5:34of consciousness to be able to have extraordinary experiences with higher consciousness. So at
- 5:40that point I had two ways to go. I could write another sort of
- 5:44um uh, you know, more academic book or self help book, which
- 5:47is kind of what quantum spirituality turned out to be. And I'll explain that
- 5:50later. But what I really felt was a lot of people were doing that,
- 5:56and I wanted to do something with an entertaining vehicle, something that people
- 6:02would internalize by identifying with characters in the book. And these characters, really
- 6:10we're kind of archetypical concepts of what I had been through. And so I
- 6:18wrote a book. I wrote a series called the First Souls Trilogy, and
- 6:23it's about the first souls to incarnate into materiality, the first spirit consciousness to
- 6:27incarnate into materiality. And it traces the lives of these cardinal souls over different
- 6:33epics of history, usually at junctures when humanity is either going to propel itself
- 6:38forward or take a major step backwards. They sort of they sort of appear.
- 6:43And the first book is called Pope and a Lisa. It's about an
- 6:46African nun who becomes the first female pope at a time where in An America
- 6:48and Iran are about to go into a nuclear war, and she is inserted
- 6:54right into the middle of all these geo political machinations and m oil and uh,
- 7:00there's a big question throughout the whole book of well, what is she?
- 7:04What does she really represent? Is she somebody who is kind of like
- 7:09another um demagogue who's really gonna lead the world order to ruin? Or is
- 7:15she somebody who really is going to help humanity? Um? Uh take a
- 7:20you know, take a leap in consciousness. So throughout much of the book,
- 7:24a lot of people are really questioning, you know what, what exactly
- 7:27is she? Who exactly is she? And um, it's a it's a
- 7:30very exciting geopolitical, spiritual thriller. Uh. It won ten national and international
- 7:35book awards, and the trilogy itself has won twenty five or twenty six i
- 7:40think national International Book awards, including Best Book Series, and the second book
- 7:46is called The Thirteenth Disciple. Uh. You know, I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 7:49have to do some mild spoilers here, uh, in order to explain to
- 7:55the audience but essentially uh the the the main characters in the first book appear
- 8:03in all three books, but in different incarnations. So the second book,
- 8:07and it was written kind of in reverse order like Star Wars, and the
- 8:11second book goes back to Biblical times around the time of the Christ and the
- 8:15characters that were revolving around the particularly Mary Magdalen, and they are reincarnations of
- 8:22the characters in the first book. And the second book deals with a crucial
- 8:28period in human history when a great revelation was being introduced by the Christ,
- 8:33but then it was also being warped and co opted by powerful forces, particularly
- 8:37you know, the Orthodox Catholic Church at the time, and it deals a
- 8:41lot with the sacred feminine and the fact that the early leadership of the Church
- 8:46was most definitely mystical and most definitely female, and it shows how that shifted
- 8:50over time and how that whole feminine mystical principle was suppressed along with the female
- 8:58leaders of the church kind of being eradicated, erased out of a rased out
- 9:01of history. And then the final book, The Light of the Light of
- 9:07Distant Suns. A lot of people are a little taken aback by that book
- 9:11because it's it's a radical difference from the first two books, which more or
- 9:16less deal in real historical time. The Light of Distant Suns is the origin
- 9:22story of when the souls first came into Earth and they founded this high technical
- 9:28civilization, kind of like an Atlantean type of civilization, and they became divided
- 9:33because many of them were still young enough to remember their spiritual origins, but
- 9:41those others were now falling under the spell of materiality and starting to identify reality
- 9:48with the boundaries of their skin rather than recognizing the higher dimensions from which they
- 9:50came. And it ends up in a kind of a vicious civil war that
- 9:56ultimately destroys this civilization. Yet that civiliza becomes the seeds of civilizations that we
- 10:03know, like the Egyptians and the Greeks. So, you know, it's
- 10:07a very comprehensive book, dealing right from the creation, you know, all
- 10:11the way up to modern times. And people find the different genres in the
- 10:15book, but the connections between those genres very fascinating. And we're going to
- 10:18touch a little bit more on the suppression of a feminine wisdom a little later
- 10:24in the podcast, but right now, what inspired your latest book Quantum Spirituality,
- 10:30science, Gnostic mysticism, and connecting with Source Consciousness. Yeah. Well,
- 10:37as I mentioned, I didn't want to start off my writing career writing
- 10:41a nonfiction book like Quantum Spirituality. I wanted to write something that would be
- 10:46more entertainment oriented, and I was aiming to get the largest audience possible,
- 10:50which I think is easier to do with a novel. And incidentally, I'm
- 10:54working right now on getting Pope and a Lisa into a TV series. I
- 10:58have a partner who was a former executive at HBO, and we're in discussions
- 11:03with various groups about getting it into a TV series because I wanted to reach
- 11:07a wider audience. But Quantum Spirituality is basically the forty years of research that
- 11:13went into the making of the fictional trilogy. It's it's all everything that I've
- 11:16found out, everything that I've experienced, everything that I've learned about both ancient
- 11:22mystical traditions and quantum science. And I think I was perhaps the first person
- 11:30to ever observe very distinct and direct parallels between the revelations of the ancient Gnostic
- 11:37masters, and we can if your audience needs to know who Gnostics are we
- 11:41can go into that. But the Gnostics were they predated Christianity, but they
- 11:46were They became the first Christians. They were the foundation of the mystical Christian
- 11:50Church. And their writings were so incredibly scientific and precise, allowing for the
- 11:56fact that they didn't have technology and technological terms in those days, but if
- 12:03you look at their writings, I noticed that they predicted almost every major theory
- 12:07of modern quantum physics, such as the Big Bang, parallel universes, and
- 12:09the God particle. And in the book, I go into detail about you
- 12:13know, those connections, and it's really fascinating because you know, Victor.
- 12:16Ultimately, what I'm trying to do is inspire people. The biggest impediment to
- 12:22human existence is fear. We don't know why we're here, we don't know
- 12:24what our purpose is, and we don't know where we're going, and it
- 12:26causes a tremendous amount of fear and it really sets us back, and it
- 12:31makes us susceptible to all kinds of outside control mechanisms that you try to tell
- 12:37us what we should be and how we should think of what we should do.
- 12:41And I'm trying to get people to become their own profits to have their
- 12:45own direct experience with higher consciousness, just the way the Gnostics did. And
- 12:50the quantum spirituality is essentially a roadmap, and like any roadmap, you have
- 12:56to have at least two coordinates, you know, north south, latitude,
- 12:58longitude or whatever. And the two coordinates that I use are quantum physics and
- 13:03ancient mystical wisdom, because if you used either one or the other, you
- 13:07know, you could sort of sit there with a little bit of skepticism.
- 13:09I mean, we have a lot of spiritual books out there and they say
- 13:13a lot of things, and you kind of have to take that on faith.
- 13:16You know, there's no way they really prove it. You kind of
- 13:18have to take them on faith. But when you have these two bookends of
- 13:22science and spirituality essentially saying the same thing, just coming in through different doors
- 13:28where they're smoke, there's fire, And I'm trying to inspire people to say,
- 13:31hey, there is something out there and it's something worth pursuing, something
- 13:35that you really need to look at, and here, let me give you
- 13:39some tools and give you some background to help you on that journey. Absolutely,
- 13:46we'll talk a little bit more about the ancient Gnostics a little bit later,
- 13:48but right now, let's offer our listeners who may not be familiar with
- 13:52some of the terms we'll be discussing, let's give them a few definitions.
- 13:56Let's start with quantum physics and the famous block tests and quantum non locality.
- 14:03Yeah. Well, quantum physics essentially started right around your nineteen hundred with a
- 14:09brilliant German physicist named Max Planck who was studying the properties of light. And
- 14:15what he found was that light is not emitted continuously, as most people believe,
- 14:20but it is emitted in discrete packets of information, discrete packets that he
- 14:24called quanta. And so the quanta of light is essentially where we got the
- 14:31terminology for quantum physics. So in its essence, quantum physics really is the
- 14:37study of light energy and the double Slit experiment. The notoriety or the famous
- 14:46thing about the double slit slit experiment was that it showed that what we think
- 14:54of as particles, or we think of a solid world, is not solid
- 14:58at all. At the very fundamental level of reality, there's no such things
- 15:03as particles. Now, Max Plank said this as much. He had a
- 15:07quote, and I'm going to paraphrase if I should probably have this memorized by
- 15:11heart. But Max Plank essentially said, I can assure you there's no such
- 15:15thing as matter. What there is is an intelligent force that brings atoms and
- 15:20molecules to a vibration that allows them to appear solid. Now this isn't from
- 15:24Swami Ramaalama Dingdong. This is this is from Max Planck, who is the
- 15:28father of modern quantum physics. So the double slid experiment essentially proved what Max
- 15:33Plank said back in the year nineteen hundred, which is that at the very
- 15:37fundamental levels of reality, what exists are not particles but waves of energy.
- 15:43Light waves of energy. Okay, so the universe really is more like an
- 15:48energy field than it is anything else. And quantum entanglement. I think you
- 15:54mentioned quantum entanglement. Was that the end of turnin Yes, quan quantum non
- 15:58locality, which is essentially the same thing as quantum entanglement. But quantum no
- 16:03locality is that they observed that particles that would be the equivalent of light thousands
- 16:10millions of light years apart will react simultaneously, are connected in some manner,
- 16:18and will react simultaneously. So let's say there's a victor on Earth and we
- 16:21pinch him, and the victor up in Mars says out at the same time,
- 16:23how does that happen? Okay, there's no They're not connected by a
- 16:27two tin cans and a string, or by five or optics. There's something
- 16:33else going on here. So this really again reinforce the idea that existence seems
- 16:41to occur within a field, within a quantum or energetic field of light energy,
- 16:48and the reason why these particles are able to communicate, the reason why
- 16:52humans are able to community kate telepathically. And incidentally, we have a number
- 16:56of experiments, some of which I cited in the book that shows these tell
- 17:00epathic connections amongst humans. My own experience with being a medical intuitive is an
- 17:07example of this. That we are connected in this energy matrix, and that
- 17:11under the proper circumstances, we can essentially communicate with other parts of that matrix.
- 17:18So we're part of We're actually parts of a whole, and the separation
- 17:22between us is really a matter of appearance rather than the matter of reality.
- 17:26Because all these experiments at quantum non locality are all indicating that we kind of
- 17:32live in a holographic matrix in effect, and that we're all connected. Ultimately,
- 17:34we're all a unity, and the source of that unity is an intelligent
- 17:40light energy that permeates all creation. I had a personal experience of this in
- 17:45nineteen seventy five. I don't know if you want to call it remote viewing
- 17:48or something else or I was stationed in Korea nineteen seventy five, six thousand
- 17:53miles away from New York, which was my home. And one morning in
- 17:56Korea, I woke up and I said, there's something wrong my mother.
- 18:00And I had no evidence of this other than this sense that there was something
- 18:03wrong with my mother. I picked up the phone, I started calling.
- 18:07I got her. My sister picked up the extension phone in those days we
- 18:11had extension phone simultaneously, and I said, Mom, what's wrong? And
- 18:15my sister said, oh my god, how did he find out? And
- 18:18it turned out that she was scheduled from major surgery the next day. And
- 18:22immediately I told her, Mom, the surgery will be a complete success.
- 18:26You'll be home recovering quickly, and you're going to be just fine. And
- 18:29that was reassuring to her, and sure enough, that's exactly what transpired.
- 18:33So how did I know this, where did that information come from? My
- 18:36mother? My mother, my own mother, had a similar experience with my
- 18:38younger brother, and she said, one day something seriously wrong with him.
- 18:45And it turns out that he was in the hospital and he was diagnosed with
- 18:51a rare, rare illness, a rare fever, and he almost died.
- 18:56He was, you know, in the possible for quite a while. And
- 19:02she had the same you know, premonition. And my mother really is not
- 19:06a person who necessarily is you know, prone to even believing such things.
- 19:11But yeah, we're it's all an example of what I said. We're all
- 19:15connected. And you know, there's certain factors that allow us to realize these
- 19:22connections and realize our connections to a higher consciousness. And certainly emotion is one
- 19:29very very big factor, desire and emotion, and when we are inspired,
- 19:37which means in spirit, when we are inspired by emotion or strong feelings and
- 19:41things like that, we often become very receptive to making these connections and communications.
- 19:47And obviously your mother, you know, it's it's pretty obvious that your
- 19:49emotional connection there absolutely Why do you think that material science has rejected often out
- 19:56of hand some of the experiences we're talking about. It's very interesting that science
- 20:04pretty much gutted Orthodox religion, and in turn they created their own form of
- 20:11orthodoxy. So they became anti religion, and in effect they completely abandon any
- 20:19notion of God or spirituality in their pursuits. And the scientific method basically says,
- 20:26if it ain't visible and testable, it ain't real. And that was
- 20:30a very convenient way to ignore what I call the big bottom of the iceberg,
- 20:37because all they were doing was studying the tip of the iceberg. You
- 20:40know, what's what can be measured by instruments, what they can see and
- 20:42things, which which is such a fraction of what reality is. So they
- 20:45decided to concentrate on a fraction of what reality was, and they became very
- 20:51orthodox about it. They became sort of the new priests of their age.
- 20:53And anybody that tried to deal with what they call in science the hard problem,
- 20:59which is the role of consciousness. Um, you know, became outcasts.
- 21:03They were they they were shunned, they were castigated. Many people lost
- 21:07their jobs. UM. I think Ben Stein did a great documentary about ten
- 21:12or fifteen years ago about um, you know, academics who dared to venture
- 21:17into um or you know, let's say, beyond the strictures of scientific materialism,
- 21:22and how they were, you know, losing jobs and being castigated in
- 21:25the scientific community. So um it became the province of of a materialistic worldview
- 21:33that they felt that they had to reinforce. And I cite examples in the
- 21:36books by famous scientists, even though Bell winning scientists that basically indicate that for
- 21:41them, um, if they're not really being very scientific, it's more this
- 21:45this materiality, this commitment to the fact that you know, we can't we
- 21:51you know, there's no no spirit, no explanation of a higher power or
- 21:55higher consciousness. It's a it's a it's an ideological point with them, and
- 22:00it overrides even scientific evidence that is in front of their noses. Now this
- 22:04is changing, okay, because kind of liking it to the exploration of the
- 22:10West in American history. So those pioneers in the West, which I would
- 22:15equate to modern quantum physicists, they were making the new discoveries, okay,
- 22:19but it took a while for those discoveries and for what was happening out there
- 22:25to reach the settled areas back east and eventually unify and transform you know this
- 22:30continent. So we're now kind of on that cusp where what I call the
- 22:37new science that's being fueled by discoveries in the quantum field are really, in
- 22:42essence changing our whole view of what reality is and running counter to the scientific
- 22:49materialist of you. But it hasn't been absorbed yet by those scientists in the
- 22:55hinder land, so you know, many of them are still committed to scientific
- 22:57materialism. If you want to summarize it in a nutshell, what scientific materialism
- 23:03says is life is the great accident. Somehow inorganic matter became organic and they've
- 23:07never been able to explain how that happened. And then you know, you
- 23:12have these unitary organisms that kept bumping together until they formed more complex structures and
- 23:19so forth that eventually led to um, you know, human beings and consciousness.
- 23:23So essentially it was a bottom up process for them, an accident,
- 23:27a bottom up process that they can't explain. The view that is starting to
- 23:33be grasped by a growing minority of scientists is that no life is a top
- 23:42down process where it's starting with an intelligent directives that use light energy as its
- 23:52vehicle of expression, and that it essentially limited its way, worked its way
- 24:00or projected its way down into lower forms, which would ultimately be the physical,
- 24:07which would be the lowest form of spiritual expression, because as human beings,
- 24:11we're really you know, spirits seeking a human experience. So the lowest
- 24:18form of expression for this spiritual energy would be materiality. And if you take
- 24:25the the that version, almost all the paradoxes that you find in science and
- 24:32quantum science and everything go away, Whereas if you take the other viewpoint,
- 24:37they run into all kinds of infinities and issues that they can't really explain,
- 24:41and they just try and shove it under the rug. My guest is Peter
- 24:45Canova. His book is entitled Quantum Spirituality, Science, Gnostic Mysticism and Connecting
- 24:52with Source Consciousness. Peter, please tell our listeners where it can get your
- 24:56book and find out more about you and your work. Yeah, probably the
- 25:00best place to go is Petercanova dot com. That's pe t RCA novia dot
- 25:07com. There's a lot of information in there. There's a number of important
- 25:11videos to look at. You can also access the First Souls Trilogy site.
- 25:15I do have a second site, Pope and Lisa dot com. That's Pope
- 25:19Amna Lisa dot com. You can either go there directly or you can get
- 25:26there a little bit more roundabout way through my Peter Kanova website. But if
- 25:30you go to either of those two places, you know you're going to get
- 25:33a good background on the body of work that I've done. And we'll be

- 26:11conscious lifestyle. Back on Destination Unlimited. My guest this week Peter Canova his
- 26:25book Quantum Spirituality, Science, Gnostic Mysticism and Connecting with Source Consciousness. Getting
- 26:33back to definitions, and we sort of touched on this before. What is
- 26:37gnosticism. Yeah, Well, the word gnosis means to know in Greek,
- 26:44and the gnostics were those who knew what did they know. The Gnostics were
- 26:51kind of a fairly far flung group, but really they centered in the ancient
- 26:56Greek city of Alexandria, Egypt, which was the intellectual capital of the Western
- 27:00world at that time, more so than Athens, more so than Rome.
- 27:03Um. They enjoyed the confluence of many different spiritual traditions, from the Hindu
- 27:11to the Persian to Egyptian Hermeticism, to Jewish Cabbalism and Hellenistic philosophy. All
- 27:18these, all these streams of spiritual wisdom flowed through Alexandria, and the Gnostics
- 27:26essentially were the recipients of those. They kind of synthesize that. And in
- 27:30truth, um, all major religions of the world had a common core.
- 27:36We call it the perennial philosophy today, but they had certain common you know,
- 27:40principles in common and over you know, the millennia, they would be
- 27:44differentiated some because of cultural factors, but um still there was a unified core
- 27:49there and the Gnostics basically, the Gnostic masters were almost like um, you
- 27:56know, like shamans, and shamans are people who essentially cross into other dimensions
- 28:00and bring information back in order to help people or to heal people in this
- 28:04particular vibration, and that's exactly what the Gnostics did. So the Gnostics basically
- 28:11were voyagers into the realms of higher consciousness, and they brought back incredible information
- 28:17about the creation and about the operation of not just our physical world, but
- 28:22the operation of other parallel dimensions. And that's probably why I zero a Gnostics
- 28:29more than anybody else, because the clarity and the analogs to modern science were
- 28:34so vivid that I hadn't found that in any other spiritual traditions before. So
- 28:40the Gnostics were they predated Christianity, but they became the first Christians because they
- 28:47recognized when Jesus of Nasmith came that he was teaching a nastic spiritual message.
- 28:52And I go into the book about the background of why I say that we
- 28:55have very strong evidence in the Bible and in the writings of the early Church
- 28:59fathers that has most definitely had a mystical inner teaching, and that only a
- 29:03few people were privy to that uh and then to the multitudes he taught in
- 29:07parables because they believed that by and large the masses would not be able to
- 29:14grasp these mystical truths. Uh, you know, on their face. It
- 29:18really took an adept to spend some time to understand this. And so there
- 29:23really were two churches back then. There was the church that had the inner
- 29:26mystical wisdom and innermistical tradition which would which you know, were the Gnostic Christians.
- 29:32And then there was the outer church, which was more or less the
- 29:36churches that we have today, the Catholic, Orthodox Protestant churches. Um you
- 29:41know, I will collectively just call them Orthodox, and they were very heavily
- 29:45influenced by the Roman Empire and by agendas of various power groups competing within the
- 29:52Roman Empire that really warped the teachings, the original Christian teachings, so um
- 29:59you know. On Fortunately, the Nastics were suppressed right up through the Middle
- 30:03Ages. Of the last remaining organized Gnostic church were the Cathars in France,
- 30:08and they were victims of the Albigensian Crusade, which was the only crusade and
- 30:14initiated against other Christians, and the Albigensians, who were the basically state religion
- 30:22in southern France, were eradicated. It was only until nineteen forty five that
- 30:27we really started to get a real window onto what the Gnostics were about,
- 30:33because some Egyptian peasants that were rummaging around cliffside caves looking for manure came across
- 30:40these earthenware jars, and when they broke them open, there were these papyrus
- 30:44texts that spilled out, and these were suppressed Gnostic texts that were hidden away
- 30:48in these caves. And for the first time, well not for the first
- 30:52time, but largely for the first time, we had a glimpse into the
- 30:57Gnostics from their own own words. Prior to that, the bulk of what
- 31:02we knew about the Gnostics came from the writings of their opponents, the early
- 31:07Church fathers. So it was a big discovery in nineteen forty five and it
- 31:12opened up, I think, a whole new vista of understanding Western spirituality.
- 31:18We touched upon this in the first segment. What were some of the other
- 31:22teachings of the Gnostic mystics. Well, they for one thing, I think
- 31:29the most the most important thing, and one of the reasons why the Orthodox
- 31:33Church feared and despised them so much, was that they didn't need a church
- 31:41or priests in order to commune with a higher source. Essentially, they felt
- 31:48that every person had the spark of the divine in them and was able to
- 31:53access that. And you know, they certainly had people that would help them
- 32:00along the way. They have what we're called fosters or enlightened ones, you
- 32:06know, who would help them along the way, but they never served the
- 32:07role of priests or intercessors between any individual person and higher consciousness. And you
- 32:16know, the vision, the creation vision of the two branches of Christianity kind
- 32:24of sums the whole thing up. In the Orthodox version of creation, we
- 32:29were like these kind of little clay dolls that God breathed life into and put
- 32:35us down here in this insane asylum, bouncing around trying to figure out what
- 32:37to do, and we angered God and we were forever trying to get back
- 32:42into his uh, you know, good graces. So you know, the
- 32:46whole concept of original sin. And essentially that picture sets tells us that wait
- 32:53a minute, God and humans are two separate things. Humans are creations of
- 32:59God. They're separate. The Gnostics said, no, nope, that's not
- 33:02the way it is. God did not create anything. God emanated things,
- 33:07and emanation means that you project your own essence. So the Gnostics said,
- 33:14that all spirit consciousness, including that spirit consciousness embodied in material form, was
- 33:19a projection of the very essence of the Source itself, now albeit in deluded
- 33:24forms. Okay, limitation of consciousness was important because without limitation of consciousness,
- 33:30there could be no concept of individuality, there could be no individual experience because
- 33:35if you know, if you didn't have a limited concept of consciousness, you
- 33:40would be the same thing as the Source itself, and you'd just be,
- 33:43you know, reabsorbed back into the Source. So even though that there was
- 33:47a limitation of vibration, a conscious vibration, for these projected souls, they
- 33:52were still part of God's very essence. It's kind of like picture a mountain
- 33:58stream, right, and part of it flows downhill and the mountain, and
- 34:04as it flows down it picks up various pollutants and dirt and everything else.
- 34:07So by the time it gets down to the bottom, it's kind of muddy,
- 34:09but it's still part of the same stream. It's still that mountain,
- 34:14that mountain lake. It's still part of that stream of consciousness, albeit in
- 34:17a deluded form. And that's how the Gnostics essentially viewed humanity. So it's
- 34:22a much higher station that they ascribed to humanity than what orthodox chris Ganity said.
- 34:29Orthodox Christianity tells us that, you know, we're these sinners and we
- 34:31ticked off God. Now we're forever trying to get back into his good graces.
- 34:35The Gnostics said, Nah, it's really a matter of remembrance. We
- 34:37just have to remember the source that we came from, and because we're connected
- 34:42to that source. So you can see right away the huge philosophical difference in
- 34:46terms of what it means to be a human being between these two points of
- 34:50view, because in the Gnostic point of view, and the way I sum
- 34:52it up is that we are the fingers of God touching the face of this
- 34:57world, and our purpose is to spiritualize the material and bring the experience of
- 35:00the material back to spirit. Okay, so that spirit can experience every form
- 35:06of existence in all its fullness, including even material experience. Because how does
- 35:12something that spiritual energy experience materiality? So you know, it assigns a much
- 35:17higher role to human purpose. And how are these expressed in the secret teachings
- 35:22of Jesus. Well, I mean, I think this is exactly what Jesus
- 35:28was teaching. Remember, the early Christianity was not called Christianity. It wasn't
- 35:32called that for some time after the death of Christ. That was a term
- 35:37I think that first was used in whereas an Antioch or Damascus, the local
- 35:42population used to describe the follows of Christ, but it was called the Way.
- 35:46Now that's a very interesting term that the early Christians call themselves the Way,
- 35:52because the Way it doesn't much sound like a religion, does it.
- 35:53What it really sounds like is it's a spiritual path. And that's exactly what
- 36:00Jesus was teaching. He was teaching a nastic spiritual path. He was teaching
- 36:04enlightenment and trying to essentially get people to understand the higher workings of universal creation
- 36:14and what exactly the source was, and how the Source manifested itself through different
- 36:19realms of creation or different universes of creation, and that we are sort of
- 36:23like the bottom line of that process, but we're we're part of it,
- 36:28we're interconnected with it. And that's essentially, you know, overall, what
- 36:31he would have been teaching his followers or his students back then. So you
- 36:37know, it was the Orthodox Christianity that started to put enter the more supernatural
- 36:43features in and you know, kind of focus on the supernatural features like the
- 36:46resurrection and things like that. I mean, the Gnostics really tended to look
- 36:51at that more symbolically than they did literally. So anyway, that was some
- 36:58of the differences. And that's what I think this would have been, you
- 37:00know, part of the teachings back then. What is the nature of consciousness?
- 37:07Well, consciousness first and foremost is energy. But it's a type of
- 37:10energy. It's an intelligent energy. It's it Intelligence means that there is intent
- 37:16and there is direction. That those are hall marks of intelligence. Okay,
- 37:22and it's clear that the supreme consciousness had an intent in a direction because we
- 37:27see you know, the manifold wonder of creation. That didn't just happen by
- 37:31accident, you know, that was that was that was you know, intentional.
- 37:37Um. Now, I don't want to get into I can get into
- 37:39some realms that are a little complicated here by saying that, Um, you
- 37:44know, the the spirits uh kind of went off on their own and you
- 37:50know sort of maybe uh warped. Um, you know, parts of existence
- 37:57that weren't maybe originally intended from the soul. Course that's a whole different discussion,
- 38:01which would take a long period of time. But clearly there is intention
- 38:05and there is intelligence behind it, and light energy is the vehicle by which
- 38:08that intention and intelligence is carried out. So you can think of light energy
- 38:15essentially is almost like a cosmic DNA. It gives form and it gives shape
- 38:20to all the multiplicity and variety that we see in the universe. But it
- 38:24all stems back to light energy vibrating at different frequencies. And as you shared
- 38:32earlier, matter really is a form of energy. Yeah, that's well established.
- 38:38That's not even that pretty much not even a theory anymore. I mean,
- 38:45starting from Mock's plank, that's exactly what he was saying. The double
- 38:49slid experiment, many other things show that. Then you have Einstein's equals mc
- 38:52square, which is probably maybe the most clear example that you know, energy
- 38:55equals mass times of loss a light square. What essentially he's saying is that
- 39:00matter and energy are interchangeable. Matter derives from and resolves back into energy.
- 39:05So which is the basis for um, you know, the nuclear reaction,
- 39:08the nuclear bomb. Uh, it's it's the you know, splitting of the
- 39:13atom and releasing it back into the energy. It's it's it's energetic state and
- 39:16that release of energy is what causes that tremendous force. So I mean even
- 39:21within any individual molecular atom, there's a tremendous amount of intelligent, creative force
- 39:27that is inherent in those in those minute particles. But um, yeah,
- 39:34that's that's what clearly matter and energy are. This are the same thing.
- 39:39And you know there are there are all forms of matter that where there's visible
- 39:44matter, but then there's matter we don't see. It's called dark matter,
- 39:47and there's probably other forms of etheric matter, finer matter that is vibrating at
- 39:52a higher frequency. Um, it's probably a you know, a grading system
- 39:58on down from pure spiritual energy to various states of matter and then into matter
- 40:04and solid form like we are down here. It's it's all a matter of
- 40:07vibrational frequency. And what is it the second law of thermodynamics. Energy can
- 40:13neither be created nor destroyed, but changes from form to form. Yeah,
- 40:17yeah, that's right. Is our quote unquote reality a cosmic holographic movie.
- 40:27Well it certainly seems so. The double split experiment essentially and non locality essentially
- 40:34showed us that there's a matrix that is an unseen matrix out there that is
- 40:38connecting life, and many of the most brilliant theoretical physicists has said that the
- 40:45appearance of physical matter is kind of like a blip in the energy field.
- 40:50So if you think you think of leting, giving example, you think of
- 40:58an ocean, and sometimes and I've seen this happen in Florida, a water
- 41:04spout, which is kind of like a water water borne tornado can develop out
- 41:08of that smooth water. And you see, you can see it as a
- 41:15physical entity. You can see the water spout, but really it's part of
- 41:19that still water that is below it. It's like a blemish on the smooth
- 41:23surface of the water. Essentially, many physicists as saying that's what material life
- 41:29is. Where like a blemish in the smooth surface of this underlying of this
- 41:34underlying energy field. Where like a you know, like a blip in the
- 41:37underlying energy field. So energy has a lot to do with it. And
- 41:47what happened that's very interesting that leads us to even further believe that we live
- 41:54in a holographic movie. Comes with a study of black holes of all things.
- 42:00So when science has started to study black holes, they they started to
- 42:05realize that the information and incidentally information. Again, as I told you,
- 42:09information is a critical part of of all these forces because information, essentially is
- 42:16that intelligent light energy or that intent in operation. That's information is kind of
- 42:22like the DNA that gives um, you know, the algorithms that give shape
- 42:28to all the various forms of matter. So what they found out was that
- 42:32the information that makes up a black hole does not reside within the black hole
- 42:37itself. It resides outside the black hole on the surface horizon. Now,
- 42:44I know that's a little difficult to grasp, so let me try and give
- 42:45a more understandable analogy here. Let's say you have a bucket, and inside
- 42:52the bucket is our universe. And our universe does have boundaries. Okay,
- 42:55just like a black hole has defined boundaries, our universe has boundaries. So
- 43:00let's say our entire universe, US Earth, you know, all the galaxies
- 43:05and everything are inside this cosmic bucket. Now, you would think that the
- 43:08information that makes up our universe is inside the bucket. All the activity,
- 43:14the comings and goings, the planets and everything else. All that information.
- 43:16You think that that's inside the bucket. But it's not. It's on the
- 43:20outside of the bucket. It's on the skin of the bucket. It's in
- 43:22two dimensions, and it's projected inward to the appearance of three dimensions. This
- 43:27is exactly what they found in the study of black holes. So so essentially,
- 43:31when you combine this with you know, all the speculations about you know,
- 43:37nonlocality and how all these all these, you know, everything is connected
- 43:40in this energy matrix, and then all of a sudden, you see that
- 43:44We'll wait a minute, um, it appears that our whole universe, our
- 43:49whole world, is a projection from another source or another dimension of existence.
- 43:54And this is exactly what the gnostics we're saying that, and and and actually
- 43:59mystics in general are saying that. You know, we live in an illusion.
- 44:00We live in a projected illusion. It's a construct, an energetic mind
- 44:06construct in the mind of a higher pollow. It sounds pretty abstract, but
- 44:12you know, all of a sudden, you have some pretty powerful information in
- 44:15the form of these black hole studies that are telling us, you know,
- 44:17what our world really does seem to be operating like a holographic movie. My

- 45:15My guests this week Peter Canova, his book Quantum Spirituality, Science, Gnostic
- 45:21Mysticism, and Connecting with Source Consciousness. Peter, how does the work of
- 45:25Carl Jung reflect some of what we've been discussing well? In so many ways?
- 45:31Carl Jung when he first read the Gnostic text, he said, you
- 45:37know, these people basically describe my work before I did it. And he
- 45:45was himself what I would call a spontaneous Gnostic. He had many vivid dreams
- 45:51and experiences that were certainly you would say of Gnostic revelations. And you know,
- 46:00there's so many parallels that it's just hard to to cite all of them,
- 46:04but for instance, you know, one example would be his notion of
- 46:08archetypes. Archetypes were something that Plato also talked about. Young further defined and
- 46:15he said, archetypes are these ideals that that seem to control human existence.
- 46:23Now they can be both of a positive and negative variety, but um,
- 46:29you know, he's the human psyche essentially is motivated at deepest levels and operates
- 46:36through these archetypes. And the Gnostics described these archetypes. They said that the
- 46:40spirit, the original spirits that were projected from the Source, which in their
- 46:46totality with the Source constituted with the Gnostics viewed as the heavenly dimension. The
- 46:52first projected spirits of high high intelligence were given interesting names. They were called
- 46:59love, wisdom, justice, mercy. Essentially, they were ideals in the
- 47:02mind of God, even though they were separate spiritual or individual vibrations from the
- 47:09source that projected them. They were projected ideals or directive forces from the mind
- 47:17or the mind of the Source. And Young identified these same archetypes as being
- 47:28motivators for human existence in present and every human culture. So certainly that was
- 47:36one thing that he described that was exactly in keeping with the whole Gnostic idea
- 47:42of the archetypes, which they called eons incidentally aeo ns, which meant eternities
- 47:47in Greek. You can call them eternal ideas, eternal feelings, eternal ideas,
- 47:52and Young identified these as very much embedded in the human psyche. There
- 48:00were many other instances, you know. Young described the unconscious as as the
- 48:07source of um, where things were unformed, things were in potential, and
- 48:14the Gnostics essentially described chaos as being in the same way. There was a
- 48:19zone that that had that stayed outside of the organized m mind of the source
- 48:25on purpose because it was given potential to be random chance, so that everything
- 48:30wasn't just a locked destiny or a locked uniformity. And the Gnostics identified this
- 48:35as chaos, and essentially Young talked about the same force, you know,
- 48:37residing with the human unconscious. So there are many many things that you could
- 48:42draw parallels between Young and the Nastics. Those are just a couple. What
- 48:45is the feminine path to higher consciousness? The mystics of ancient times, and
- 48:53I'm not just talking about the Gnostics, almost all of them identified the fact
- 48:58that the source is a polarity um. It it's they described it as a
- 49:04male and female polarity, a yin and yang polarity. And even though the
- 49:08source is won, it operated in its and it's um effort to project existence
- 49:16outside of itself. Because if you're if you're the source of everything, it's
- 49:22a static existence. Okay, if you're everything you it's it's static because you
- 49:27can't compare yourself to anything else. There's nothing else to contrast you with.
- 49:30So in an effort to create existence which is not just, which is not
- 49:36just being but experiencing, the Source projected out these other points of consciousness that
- 49:40we've spoken of, uh and um the UH. The The way it operated
- 49:49was that the source divided itself into a polarity which was male and female yin
- 49:54and yang. And the reason for this is that the the reaction between those
- 50:00polar opposites, between the male qualities and the female qualities, created the light,
- 50:06friction, motion heat in order to propel creation, just the way you
- 50:08know a battery operates. We have positive and negative cables in the battery and
- 50:13the interactions between those is essentially what creates light. And that's how the source
- 50:17created light energy the same same way, in essence, a battery would operate
- 50:22so the feminine side of the equation was really the intuitive wisdom side, and
- 50:32it was always described this way in all the ancient texts that the feminine principles
- 50:37of the feminine characteristics were always associated with wisdom and intuition. So intuition and
- 50:45wisdom are really the gateways to higher consciousness. You know, we won't really
- 50:51get far in our lives if we're completely or rational people and we only operate
- 50:55off of numbers and appearances and everything else. But this such a thing is
- 51:00instinct, and this such a thing is inspiration, and this such a thing
- 51:04as motivation and feeling, and those are all feminine characteristics, and those are
- 51:07pretty much the gateway to having higher experiences. Now both operate in unison,
- 51:15you can't. You want to have a balance between them. And in fact,
- 51:19Jung told us that the each each individual human being has the male and
- 51:25the female in them. He called it the anima and the animus, and
- 51:30that is the yin and yang, the male and female. We each have
- 51:32these polarities inside us, and that's even demonstrated in you know the fact that
- 51:37our brain has two hemispheres. We have a right brain and a left brain,
- 51:39each of them associated with various types of characteristics, but it's the feet.
- 51:44But I at least I feel that it's the female principle with the intuition,
- 51:49the feeling and so forth, that is kind of the gateway to having
- 51:52these experiences to higher consciousness. And you know, it's I used to liken
- 51:58it to a rocket. Rocket has two components. It has the guidance system
- 52:00and the fuel. Well, the female is the fuel, and if you
- 52:05don't have the fuel, you never get off the ground. The mail is
- 52:07the guidance system, and you can get off the ground, but if you
- 52:10don't have the guidance system, you kind of don't know where you're going.
- 52:13So they both need each other, you know, for a directed experience.
- 52:16Back to source consciousness. Recently, we've seen a reactionary, fear based effort
- 52:22to suppress the strides that women have achieved. Why do you think this is
- 52:25happening? I mean, I think, well, I think there's a I
- 52:36think there's a larger context here, and I have actually seen the opposite.
- 52:45I don't think the elements you're talking about, I don't see them as very
- 52:49prominent. If anything, I see much more of the feminine spirit being unleashed
- 52:53in the world right now, and women rising. If anything else, what
- 52:58I see more as being in jeopardy is our freedoms. I mean, we
- 53:02were in an error right now where people are trying to tell you what to
- 53:09think, how how how to you know what pronouns to use, what you
- 53:15know, what you should be saying and not saying in public and if you
- 53:17if you cross that line, they cancel you. Okay, That's what I'm
- 53:22more concerned about. I'm more concerned about the rise of this kind of a
- 53:27reactionary thought control because there's always people in this world. And this goes right
- 53:30back to the Nastics. The Gnostics had Um had identified a you know,
- 53:36dark side of a human existence, a dark side of the psyche, which
- 53:39they called the arcons. And the arcons were all were a control mechanism.
- 53:45They they invaded your mind in effect, uh and um, you know,
- 53:49try to control your thought and you know what you were doing, limit your
- 53:52freedom in essence in order to feed their own ends. And I see analogs
- 53:59of this happening in our society today. And the unfortunate thing is that these
- 54:05negative things all go in through positive banners. They're all saying, oh,
- 54:08well, you know we're being progressive, We're trying to do this and that,
- 54:10but it's not progress at all. If if if an essence, it's
- 54:14trying to you know, curtail your freedom to be a thinking individual. So,
- 54:17um, if anything, I see women on the rise, and I
- 54:21see that as a positive counter force to this, because I think, um,
- 54:24you know, the women's intuition ultimately can help us win out over these
- 54:31um uh, these forces and uh and these influences. And I see it
- 54:37more. You know, for instance, Mary Magdalen. Nobody when I started
- 54:40writing, nobody knew who Mary Magdalen was. Now there's an explosion of information
- 54:45and questions and you know, literature on Mary Magdalene and what she symbolized.
- 54:52So I see that as being very positive. My guest is Peter Canova,
- 54:55his latest book, Quantum Spirituality, Science, Gnostic Mysticism and Connecting with Source
