- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, Yeah, what it is the innovative radio feature that
- 0:04Speaker 1: we invented kind of gave birth to talk radio because
- 0:08Speaker 1: of us, unfortunately.
- 0:09Speaker 2: And I mean it's a dialogue. You talked to us
- 0:11Speaker 2: and we talked to you. You can ask us questions.
- 0:14Speaker 2: We'll listen to your problems, We'll we'll take your criticisms.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm sure there's just you're just dying to find out
- 0:20Speaker 2: about what what Nick's all about? Wait? What's all about
- 0:24Speaker 2: with me? This is this is a perfect opportunity for
- 0:28Speaker 2: other members of Nick Ball's maxing community. Yes, yeah, who
- 0:31Speaker 2: would to join in.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Step up Balls maxing community.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Anything you want to chat about, this is your chance
- 0:37Speaker 2: to do it. Hello.

- 0:43Speaker 1: is here?
- 0:44Speaker 4: Hello?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Hello, Yeah, what ye?
- 0:47Speaker 5: Good morning guys.
- 0:48Speaker 6: I was wondering what doctor who you liked better, David
- 0:51Speaker 6: Tennant or Matt Smith.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Well, you know they're the two I'm most familiar with, certainly. Yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 2: I don't you know, I don't know.
- 1:02Speaker 4: You're not giving me a Capaldi choice. You're not giving
- 1:05Speaker 4: me that choice.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Peter Capaldi was Okay, I haven't gotten to that. On
- 1:10Speaker 2: the hill.
- 1:12Speaker 4: If you're if you're making me pick between between those two.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Matt Smith, Yeah, me too. I think too. Because David Tennant,
- 1:18Speaker 2: although I like, I've liked him in other things as
- 1:21Speaker 2: Doctor Who, his mouth was always open? Have you did
- 1:24Speaker 2: you notice ever knows that ever? It's one of those
- 1:26Speaker 2: kind of actors who who is always like I can't
- 1:30Speaker 2: do it because when he's not talking, his mouth still
- 1:32Speaker 2: stays open. He's a mouth breather. I guess he's always going.
- 1:35Speaker 2: He's always going. Uh.
- 1:39Speaker 7: Yeah, I haven't watched Doctor Who, so I couldn't tell you.
- 1:41Speaker 7: In fact, I don't like what is the perfect entry
- 1:45Speaker 7: point for Doctor Who.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I don't know. It's since the sixties.
- 1:48Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it's like the recent stuff. Should I
- 1:50Speaker 7: check out the old stuff if I wanted to watch it?
- 1:52Speaker 4: Don't bother the old stuff.
- 1:53Speaker 2: There's a you know the old stuff. The the robots,
- 1:57Speaker 2: the Daleks, Yeah they were there were cardboard boxes with
- 2:02Speaker 2: Christmas tree lights on them.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Essentially.
- 2:05Speaker 5: Uh.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I start with uh, probably David Tennant, Okay, I guess,
- 2:10Speaker 4: and then work your way up.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I just know the cartoon guy is like the most
- 2:13Speaker 3: evil dude ever.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Which is the one that Alex Kingston was in. She
- 2:19Speaker 2: was She's great with the hairy Oh she was a
- 2:22Speaker 2: bird song or whatever her name was, River River Song,
- 2:25Speaker 2: River Song she was? Yeah?
- 2:28Speaker 4: Was she with the man Smith?
- 2:30Speaker 2: I think so, and I like her a lot.
- 2:33Speaker 4: There's just this is a series that's been going since
- 2:37Speaker 4: since like nineteen sixty, I mean it's been around forever.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Yeah, what's going on in the background?
- 2:42Speaker 6: There's Aye, Yeah, I work airport?
- 2:47Speaker 2: Oh? Okay?
- 2:48Speaker 5: Hello?
- 2:48Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 2:49Speaker 2: What all right? Jane, we'll we'll we'll see you. Thank you, Zane,
- 2:53Speaker 2: Thank you, Zane. All right, go to Nathan. Hello, Yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 2: what Nathan? Where are you calling from?
- 3:00Speaker 6: Currently in West Valley City?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Do you work at an airport as well?
- 3:04Speaker 6: It doesn't sound like it. I don't think so.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I thought I heard some sound in the background. Uh so,
- 3:09Speaker 2: what what's your what do you what do you got?
- 3:11Speaker 2: What do you want to talk about?
- 3:13Speaker 6: So the other day you were talking about people knocking
- 3:15Speaker 6: on your door selling stuff, and I thought I'd tell
- 3:17Speaker 6: you something that my friend's daughter did. She was about
- 3:22Speaker 6: ten or twelve at the time, and somebody came to
- 3:24Speaker 6: the door to sell something. She opens the door, points
- 3:28Speaker 6: at him, yells stranger, stranger, stranger, and then slams the
- 3:32Speaker 6: door in their face.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Oh maybe that's fine, maybe that's the approach better.
- 3:37Speaker 6: So so, first of all, there is a door doorbell
- 3:40Speaker 6: camera footage of this, so I know this actually happened.
- 3:43Speaker 6: So then she saw which way they were working in
- 3:45Speaker 6: the neighborhood and went to her friend's house and got
- 3:49Speaker 6: the same guys in like fifteen minutes.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Again, So I think probably this person, this door to
- 3:58Speaker 2: door salesperson is probably finished. Would never go door to
- 4:03Speaker 2: door again, Well, that would be the hope. Yeah, I
- 4:05Speaker 2: would throw me. But I don't know. Have you ever
- 4:09Speaker 2: bought anything from a door to door salesperson?
- 4:13Speaker 8: No?
- 4:13Speaker 6: And I always tell them I'm not going to And
- 4:15Speaker 6: sometimes I'll be like, well, give me a card and
- 4:16Speaker 6: they're like, I don't have that. I'm like, well that's
- 4:18Speaker 6: a poor sales strategy. You don't have any information. So
- 4:21Speaker 6: when I start getting spiders and need an exterminator, yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 6: I don't have your information.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, Well listen, don't you need Don't you need
- 4:28Speaker 2: to have your address numbers spray painted with a stencil
- 4:31Speaker 2: on your curb out in front of your house.
- 4:33Speaker 6: Come on, come on, everybody's got GPS.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Come on. So I did once many years ago. By
- 4:42Speaker 2: this this young woman came around and she was selling.
- 4:45Speaker 2: What she said to me would is the was the
- 4:47Speaker 2: most remarkable cleaner bottle of liquid cleaner. It would clean anything.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah. And you could use it on dishes, or
- 4:57Speaker 2: you could use it on you know, dirty walls. You
- 5:00Speaker 2: could use it on And I don't know she I
- 5:03Speaker 2: think it was thirty bucks or something. Wasn't cheap and
- 5:08Speaker 2: did it do it? She can No, she convinced me.
- 5:11Speaker 2: And it wasn't that it was. I mean, it wasn't.
- 5:13Speaker 2: It wasn't just water, you know, or but it wasn't
- 5:16Speaker 2: anything particularly amazing.
- 5:18Speaker 7: I'd be more interested if it was more Salespeople like
- 5:20Speaker 7: that these days, because it's all solar.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Used to be a low it's all solar.
- 5:24Speaker 7: Like the one guy approached my house asking if I
- 5:26Speaker 7: wanted solar and I was like, no, I'm good. And
- 5:29Speaker 7: he's like, are you the owner of the property, And
- 5:31Speaker 7: I go yeah, and he goes, well, I had an
- 5:33Speaker 7: order out here to do some solar paneling today.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Your neighbors are getting this done, and I could give
- 5:38Speaker 2: you all a better deal.
- 5:39Speaker 7: And and he kind of gave the impression like he
- 5:43Speaker 7: was he confused me with somebody else. And then I
- 5:46Speaker 7: was like, no, I think he got the wrong property.
- 5:48Speaker 7: He's like, oh, well do you need solar panels though?
- 5:51Speaker 7: And I was like, so this is a sales pitch.
- 5:53Speaker 7: This is you got the wrong house.
- 5:55Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 7: We used to buy Tamala's growing up from a door
- 5:59Speaker 7: to door salesman.
- 6:02Speaker 4: I bet they were good.
- 6:03Speaker 2: They were awesome. That was the only door to door salesperson.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I think it was twenty five years ago. I bought
- 6:10Speaker 1: something from a door to door person. Yeah, that was
- 6:12Speaker 1: the last time I did. It was a broom ooh oh,
- 6:16Speaker 1: because I could see it, I could hold it in
- 6:18Speaker 1: my hand, and it was a good cause that they
- 6:20Speaker 1: were selling it for.
- 6:21Speaker 2: It was a school. And you know it is true.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And I think my mother bought this. She bought a
- 6:27Speaker 2: World book Encyclopedia Britannica from somebody who came door to
- 6:31Speaker 2: door selling encyclopedia and they would sell you, like on
- 6:36Speaker 2: the spot, sell you one and then sign you up
- 6:40Speaker 2: for a subscription that they would get it. Yeah, you
- 6:43Speaker 2: would get a you'd get a book every month or
- 6:45Speaker 2: every month, okay, something like that. Now there are a
- 6:49Speaker 2: solar Encyclopedias. Yeah, hello, yeah, what it's it's hello yeah
- 6:55Speaker 2: what But that doesn't really It doesn't really work unless
- 6:58Speaker 2: you call us and make a state or ask a question,
- 7:02Speaker 2: or want to engage in some sort of conversation with us.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I was thinking about door to door salespeople though. And
- 7:13Speaker 2: I remember when I was a kid, my mother used
- 7:17Speaker 2: to get a I think it was a weekly visit
- 7:19Speaker 2: from the Jewel Tea man. Jewel Tea, the Jewel Tea Company.
- 7:24Speaker 2: And he had a little he had a truck and
- 7:29Speaker 2: he wore a uniform and he had a basket, and
- 7:32Speaker 2: he would bring things in off of his truck, like
- 7:36Speaker 2: you know, cookies. And it started out. It looked it up.
- 7:40Speaker 2: It started out in eighteen ninety nine the Jewel Tea
- 7:43Speaker 2: Company as a door to door coffee and tea service.
- 7:47Speaker 2: The Jeweltea Company grew into a major innovative retailer that
- 7:51Speaker 2: eventually became the Jewel Osco grocery chain, famous for its
- 7:55Speaker 2: home service roots and Autumn Leaf brand premiums. Interesting hm
- 8:00Speaker 2: here in Utah. Yeah, I was up in Augen Wow.
- 8:03Speaker 2: They they and he'd come in with a little basket
- 8:07Speaker 2: and they sold coffee and tea, and then there would
- 8:10Speaker 2: be like dishes, kind of dishes. You could buy certain
- 8:14Speaker 2: kinds of dishes. I remember he had. They had really
- 8:16Speaker 2: good cookies that she would buy and he'd come in
- 8:19Speaker 2: and sit down at the kitchen table and say, here's
- 8:21Speaker 2: what I've got this week, and my mom would buy
- 8:24Speaker 2: some stuff.
- 8:25Speaker 4: All right, let's go to Garrett.
- 8:28Speaker 7: Hello.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah what Garrett?
- 8:30Speaker 8: Hello?
- 8:31Speaker 2: What's up?
- 8:33Speaker 8: Ah?
- 8:33Speaker 9: Here he got nobody to talk to.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Well, now we do, so let's get to it.
- 8:39Speaker 9: So I want to talk. I want to talk to
- 8:41Speaker 9: about Father's Day a little bit.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:43Speaker 9: So, so my dad is eighty eighty one and he
- 8:51Speaker 9: loves fishing. He's in good help for his age, loves outdoors, love. Yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 9: he doesn't hunt so much anymore. But I'm trying. I'm
- 9:03Speaker 9: trying to think of a good gift for him.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Her father's sake.
- 9:07Speaker 8: Got plenty of.
- 9:09Speaker 9: Yeah, he's got plenty of part like knives, pocket knives,
- 9:12Speaker 9: He's got all the fishing gear.
- 9:14Speaker 2: So yeah, does he does he? Does he like the vape? Yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 2: he's not a.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He's not a drinker, not a vapor not Okay, Well
- 9:24Speaker 1: you know what Dutch oven?
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:27Speaker 3: Kiss the cook apron could.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Be a Dutch oven maybe, yeah, nice Dutch oven? Yeah?
- 9:32Speaker 2: Does he cook outdoors? Does he like to cook? Outdoors.
- 9:36Speaker 9: Uh, he he makes me do it.
- 9:43Speaker 2: G gets something that you like, then yeah, and give
- 9:47Speaker 2: it to him, Give it to him and say, now
- 9:50Speaker 2: when you make me cook dad, I've got this this
- 9:52Speaker 2: and I'll use this. Look at the switch to that
- 9:54Speaker 2: I got for you. Yeah, so there. I mean, you know,
- 9:59Speaker 2: there's all lines of fishing gear that you could get,
- 10:02Speaker 2: just just look into looking at a look online.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Tackle box, tackle box, forward slash, grill combo.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Maybe he needs a creole. Does he have a preole.
- 10:16Speaker 9: Catching minnows and stuff?
- 10:18Speaker 2: No, No, it's just a it's just a wicker basket
- 10:21Speaker 2: kind of thing that you put your You put some
- 10:23Speaker 2: wet grass in there, and then when you catch your fish,
- 10:26Speaker 2: you gut them and put the put them in the creole. Hmmm.
- 10:30Speaker 9: Oh no, we just use stringers.
- 10:34Speaker 2: So what about what about seafood? Boil?
- 10:37Speaker 8: Kids?
- 10:37Speaker 2: Listen? We now we now have a bunch of other
- 10:39Speaker 2: people who want to talk to us. Sorry we weren't
- 10:42Speaker 2: very helpful.
- 10:45Speaker 9: Yeah, no problems.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Corey is here. Hell Hello, Corey, what's up?
- 10:53Speaker 8: Good morning. I'm just so excited for concerts this year.
- 10:57Speaker 8: He'll be block Party this weekend and the andha Ohana Fest.
- 11:01Speaker 8: Have you guys heard of Ohana Fest in California. Mm hmm, yeah,
- 11:06Speaker 8: Dana point. They just announced the lineup finally yesterday, and
- 11:11Speaker 8: so it's an Eddie Vedder curated festival.
- 11:15Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 8: So he usually headlines one of the nights, right, but
- 11:19Speaker 8: surprise of all surprises, Pearl Jam is going to headline
- 11:22Speaker 8: Sunday night.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Wow.
- 11:24Speaker 8: If you know anything about Pearl Jam recently, Matt Cameron
- 11:27Speaker 8: stepped out of the band last year, so they are
- 11:29Speaker 8: without a drummer.
- 11:31Speaker 2: So they're going to perform without drums. That's unusual.
- 11:34Speaker 8: No, well that's the thing. Did they find a guy?
- 11:37Speaker 8: Are they going to have a substitute? Are they going
- 11:40Speaker 8: to announce it tour?
- 11:41Speaker 9: Like?
- 11:43Speaker 2: I think they should just go drumless.
- 11:46Speaker 8: So we saw him actually in Oakland a few years back,
- 11:49Speaker 8: and Cameron had COVID and they had a guy feeling
- 11:53Speaker 8: for him that plays with some of the other guys
- 11:55Speaker 8: in another band, and it was so fun to watch.
- 11:58Speaker 8: He was having the time of his life.
- 12:00Speaker 2: It was cool.
- 12:01Speaker 8: It was really cool. But yeah, so fun festival fin
- 12:03Speaker 8: TEMs Dcat Yeah all right, he Courtney Barnett.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah I'm seeing here and they're.

- 13:07Speaker 2: people have no idea what that mean. Yeah, I was
- 13:09Speaker 2: gonna ask. I know what it is, but you need
- 13:12Speaker 2: to tell people what that is.
- 13:14Speaker 5: My god SONAMI is the National Alliance of Mental Illness.
- 13:20Speaker 8: They have pure support.

- 13:52Speaker 2: talk about ball maxing.
- 13:55Speaker 6: You guys are talking about ball mac and I just
- 13:57Speaker 6: watch the kids.
- 13:59Speaker 8: Uh. The original was I've Got Big Balls, that classic song,
- 14:04Speaker 8: and the cool kids are just catching up with the time.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Oh, that's probably what it is. Yeah, yeah, you you
- 14:10Speaker 2: were sort of a you were You're an old time
- 14:13Speaker 2: ball maxer.
- 14:14Speaker 9: O G.
- 14:16Speaker 7: I was doing it before before the kids do it
- 14:18Speaker 7: with damn, damn without saline.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I don't know how you did. They had saline back
- 14:25Speaker 2: when he was he was a ball maxer. Yeah, saline
- 14:28Speaker 2: isn't a new invention.
- 14:29Speaker 7: I know it's not a new invention, but it's it's
- 14:32Speaker 7: just being picked up by the balls maxing community.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Oh wait, I've misread this whole thing.
- 14:37Speaker 5: This is thank you.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I think I've misread this. This is ball waxing. Oh different,
- 14:43Speaker 2: and they do that with saline.
- 14:44Speaker 6: No oh
