134: The "Alien Enemies" at Fort Oglethorpe, GA
On this episode of Common Mystics, Jen and Jill reveal a remarkable story about the "enemy aliens" imprisoned at Fort Oglethorpe, GA, during World War I.* After the U.S. entered the war, German civilians were detained without evidence, deemed too dangerous to remain free. Some were targeted because of their knowledge, intelligence, or influence. Despite the circumstances, the detainees formed a thriving community with a rich culture. Tragically, many faced grim outcomes.
