Hello our loyal listeners and viewers if you are here on YouTube we are the Pop Culture Junkies here to bring you the news reviews and attitudes of everything involving pop culture. I am Shauna and what is your name?
• 0:40
Olivia. Hello, Olivia. I miss you even though I was just waiting. I just saw you 20 minutes ago. We drove here together. That's true. But I do every night when I go to sleep.
• 0:51
And you're not laying next to me. That's sweet. That's kind of good. Insert Hillary Duff, audio. You shouldn't use gay as an insult. Saying something is so gay is like saying I'm so girl wearing a skirt is a top.
• 1:08
I knew you'd be able to wear a skirt. Right right. I met gay in a beautiful way though by the way.
• 1:16
Yeah. Good. Good. The only way. The only way that gay can be used. So we are here to talk about something near and dear to pop culture unfortunately.
• 1:28
I don't know if near and dear but ever persistent omnipresent pop culture. Yeah. Or like a parasite. I'm some might say I'm Shana. I'd actually never seen keeping up with the car.
• 1:45
I had not. So we aren't actually obsessed with them but no family gets mentioned here in pop culture junkie more than the Kardashians.
• 1:56
The family their spouses their exes their children. They get a lot of airtime for a show we hardly ever admit to watching.
• 2:03
So let's explore why the Kardashians are famous for being famous quote unquote and why they dominate pop culture the way that they do.
• 2:13
So I will say that as a high schooler like growing up when they first started on E. I was introduced to Kim Kardashian as a closet organizer for Paris Holtz.
• 2:29
Right. And she also worked with Brandy for a bit of time. She released a movie with Rage A too right. Well she.
• 2:38
A private film. Yeah. Yeah. They had come out together. Yeah. The loving film their love making.
• 2:45
And so that's how she was kind of like introduced and the world knows her. She keeps getting.
• 2:52
And she's been a little bit more than a couple of times. So I'm a little bit more than a couple of times.
• 3:08
And so Kim Kardashian and Rage A's tape is quote released which was obviously Christian.
• 3:24
So we're going to get into the theories of what it is but we saw Kim Kardashian became publicly and widely known for being in a sex tape with Rage A.
• 3:35
She kind of became like a sexual icon which is funny because I mean to her credit that's not what she's known for anymore.
• 3:41
I mean I don't want to reduce a woman down to she was in a sex tape but I do think the sex tape was very calculated by the family.
• 3:49
Well that'll be a part of the controversy exactly. And Sean had never really seen the early episodes of it.
• 3:57
I never in my life watched an episode of this show. Okay. Now I can say I know I can't I can't think that anymore. It was kind of a bragging point.
• 4:06
I've never seen an episode of keeping up with the car. She does for you guys. I'm not like the other. She gave up being like the other roles.
• 4:14
I don't know for you dear dear viewers what do you call them in the beginning of your gentle viewers. I was channeling Andrew from Buffy.
• 4:22
Oh lady whistle down which I think is channeling Andrew from Buffy. Okay.
• 4:26
He's doing that thing where he's like oh you think Julian.
• 4:29
Hello, gentle, gentle viewers is channeling Buffy. Yes Julie. Everything comes back to Buffy the vampire slayer in the end. Everything. Okay.
• 4:39
We'll break that down in a future episode too. That everything comes back to. Okay. Back to the squirrel. So I probably watched up until the Chris Humphries.
• 4:49
Debock a little which is where you get the iconic like I lost my diving earring and Courtney just says like.
• 4:56
People are dying people are dying. And there was this perfect kind of this goes back to my theory of reality TV shouldn't get more than three seasons.
• 5:06
Because after that 20 bugging season after that it's too insane. It's too planned when it first was started with Ryan C. Cross as a producer.
• 5:16
Like Chris Jenner Kim or the whole family didn't have as much control.
• 5:20
Also I'm going to note that we're going to be referring to Caitlin as Caitlin Jenner throughout this episode.
• 5:25
No matter what her name was when these first episodes that we're going to talk about come out.
• 5:30
Yes Caitlin. Yes. Yes. They seemed a lot more like everybody in the show from what I saw seemed a little more down to earth but not much.
• 5:39
Honestly the whole. They're still living in Calabasas. Oh my God. Okay. So real fast. This show came out in 2007.
• 5:47
It was on E like you said created by Ryan C. C. Christ which I had totally forgot about.
• 5:52
Really created this show. He's also like a nipotent individual. She's a man. Why is he still there? Why is he around?
• 6:03
It initially centered around Kim and her sisters Courtney and Chloe their brother Rob and their half sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner and their parents Chris and Caitlin Jenner.
• 6:14
The series ran for 20 goddamn seasons becoming one of the longest running reality television series in the United States.
• 6:23
I didn't realize that either but I guess it makes sense. I can't think of anything else besides survivor maybe.
• 6:29
  Yeah. It's on 20 seasons. Yeah. I don't know.
• 6:32
Now I think it's much more of a scripted show. I feel like after like the fourth or fifth season.
• 6:38
It was no longer reality. It was like very like produced. Yeah. But whatever. But I think those early seasons were so interesting.
• 6:47
So we went back and we watched the first two episodes. We watched the first two episodes and then we went to the pool and had white claws instead which was probably the superior choice.
• 6:57
We have a few notes that we wrote down from our first few episodes. Okay. And this again is the first two episodes ever aired of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
• 7:09
The first note that I put down is quote wow body shaving.
• 7:14
Like episode one that Chris is telling Chloe to lose weight literally within the first five minutes of this show.
• 7:24
She's like you're just a little bigger than the other girls like it was. But we look fine.
• 7:32
It was wild to see it. So these early archetypes of characters who are being presented within the first five to 10 minutes.
• 7:41
The entire show are still the like stereo types. It is great. It's great. Yeah. Like to this day.
• 7:51
It is still they fit those exact archetypes. And absolutely. I don't think people actually exist within those.
• 7:58
So it's difficult people to look at that. But then you have like Kim who's the narcissist and like once attention.
• 8:06
Canvas the narcissist. I think that Chloe is the insecure quote unquote fat daughter which is so absurd.
• 8:14
But the funny one. Yeah. And then Courtney is more of the like oh she's in a loving relationship.
• 8:20
Yeah. Even though Scott is cheating like episode one of this show.
• 8:25
They really just hung Scott out to dry. The only thing I know about Scott dissing is I've learned against my will.
• 8:32
And it's that he has children with Courtney Kardashian. Yes. That is actually she's on her.
• 8:37
And that is all I know about you don't you don't remember the iconic him shoving money and a waiter's throat.
• 8:44
No, but that doesn't surprise me.
• 8:47
She's not like happens on keeping up with the Kardashians like live where he's like you're my peasant and shoves money into this man.
• 8:54
So fucking yeah. No, it's a wild it's it's it's it's it's crazy. Yeah. So crazy like if so.
• 9:02
So cool. The actual thing that happened he would be sued so hard.
• 9:06
Well, maybe I don't know. I don't know this. Everything just seems so.
• 9:10
You're so funny to hire lawyer to do that. I guess everything seems so contrived like in episode two they hire a babysitter to like babysit Kendall and Kylie.
• 9:22
And she shows up in like a bikini top and doesn't understand why that a Chris is like this is so not okay.
• 9:32
I can't believe our babysitters wearing a bikini top.
• 9:36
I need to have a talk with her and then Caitlin's just like I don't see what the problem is.
• 9:43
And then when she fires her she's like I don't think you can be our babysitter anymore and the babysitter's like.
• 9:50
Okay, damn. That was so very early.
• 9:56
It was so dire actor to just produce instant drama for Bella.
• 10:02
It was pretty dumb and then Kylie is dancing on a pole.
• 10:06
Yeah, for early episodes and she is seven right.
• 10:10
  I broke down 11. But I mean.
• 10:13
Still she's really she has to be holding.
• 10:16
I'm really child blind like you tell me that it's a newborn or it's 12 and I'd be like yeah.
• 10:24
I have something like I'll meet my friends kids and be like do they need a booster see like Shauna he's 14.
• 10:32
  I don't know.
• 10:34
I don't know what the use should his pants and my Tesla like to be fair you still do that.
• 10:40
I still should my dad say my dad's love that's fair. But it's my car I can put for I want.
• 10:48
Yeah, no child blindness is really serious condition.
• 10:56
Does it need you to like Chibis first?
• 11:00
Anyway, she was doing video dancing on a pole.
• 11:04
It was just all very inappropriate.
• 11:06
  I don't know. I hated every second.
• 11:08
It was wild to see like how sexualized they were as very young children.
• 11:14
And like why is there a stripper pole in the house that didn't make a lot of sense to me.
• 11:20
Why are the producers like yeah, yeah, you know, be funny but Kylie on the pole.
• 11:24
  Yeah, like really young child.
• 11:26
  The baby on the pole.
• 11:28
She's in the fucking like 10th or 5th grade.
• 11:32
To be fair, this is like in the girls next door era of ease.
• 11:38
The girls next door were at least 18 and older.
• 11:42
I would assume and hope and pray.
• 11:44
Yes, but like the characters on the show.
• 11:46
  Yes, yes.
• 11:48
  Yeah, exactly.
• 11:50
So early on like we mentioned Ryan C. Cress kind of had this.
• 11:54
It was one of his first producing opportunities.
• 11:56
And the family dynamics really made them explode into mega fame early on.
• 12:04
  So from 2007 to 2011.
• 12:08
I kind of remember in those early times like Kim does playboy.
• 12:12
Yeah. And that's where there's even a baby.
• 12:14
There's even a baby on sweetie.
• 12:16
  I do.
• 12:18
To give them credit, it was obviously pretty scripted.
• 12:22
But it's like the hills almost.
• 12:26
They did have a compelling storyline.
• 12:28
They talk about going on the Tyra Bank show.
• 12:32
And being really concerned about her asking about the tape.
• 12:36
But it's like the producers like ask Kim how she feels about the tape.
• 12:40
They can't not even talk about the tape.
• 12:42
Like you said, there is a consistent storyline throughout the season that I'm sure it's riveting.
• 12:50
Yep. And then ultimately there became this idea that the more the better.
• 12:56
And in 2011 to 2015, he did a variety of spin-offs.
• 13:02
Oh my god, quickly ramble off each of these spin-offs.
• 13:06
  Yes. Okay.
• 13:07
  Courtney and Chloe take Miami.
• 13:08
Courtney and Kim take New York.
• 13:10
  Chloe and the Mar.
• 13:12
  Robin China.
• 13:13
  I am Kate.
• 13:14
  Life of Kylie.
• 13:16
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:20
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:24
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:26
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:28
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:30
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:32
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:34
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:36
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:38
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:40
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:42
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:44
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:46
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:48
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:50
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:52
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:54
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:56
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 13:58
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 14:00
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 14:02
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 14:04
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 14:06
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 14:08
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 14:10
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 14:12
And then we have a couple of stories about the tape.
• 14:12
So a binge body too is also just such a disgusting like plot for a television show.
• 14:18
  Like yeah.
• 14:18
You feel like you have to become, I don't know, like I get that sentiment
• 14:24
like after you get dumped in your hearts broken.
• 14:26
Like I'm going to improve myself and do all these things
• 14:28
and make him wish he didn't leave me.
• 14:30
  But like I don't know.
• 14:32
It's just the way that we'll talk about later that they have shifted cultural body dynamics
• 14:38
and like trends and put up all this created this pressure that like,
• 14:44
especially young girls feel like they have to move on too.
• 14:46
Like that whole show is just, all of their show is really.
• 14:48
Yeah, I think it's difficult because like early on like you just see Chloe get politely so much.
• 14:56
So I do, I think she probably has had the most cosmetic work done.
• 15:04
And she's had the most body dysmortial.
• 15:08
She was so beautiful like before she touched herself and like it's just sad like to see like
• 15:12
  from the first episode.
• 15:14
Yeah, them having it trying to exist in this world and trying to fit into that.
• 15:18
And it is that their fault is that societal.
• 15:22
  Is that a person's.
• 15:24
  Yeah, I mean, on excellent.
• 15:26
Probably because she's the one who's pressuring Chloe from that first episode of like
• 15:32
your body doesn't look the same as Kim's or Courtney's or Courtney's and you need to do something about it.
• 15:38
And it's just right off the bat like changing the cultural landscape.
• 15:42
And then Chloe ran with it and like edits her pictures to hell and as so much.
• 15:48
And you know what, I'm not going to talk shit about cosmetic procedures.
• 15:52
Yeah, I get Botox twice a year like whatever. Do what feels good for you.
• 15:56
But like their pressure that they've put on like young girls with the editing of their pictures too.
• 16:05
That's not even what they look like.
• 16:07
  Yes, yeah, I don't know. It's insane.
• 16:10
Yeah, I look to like Kylie who probably doesn't really like have a lot of memories before television.
• 16:18
Yeah, maybe like four or five years.
• 16:20
Yeah, where you're like, oh, I have like a normal life. But to be that exposed like that young like I couldn't even imagine going through
• 16:28
puberty like that with like cameras on you and you already have a mother who's like outwardly body criticized.
• 16:34
Yeah, I could be very wrong on these facts.
• 16:38
But allegedly there are rumors that she allowed Kylie to get a both a boob job.
• 16:44
And then now it has been confirmed that she got filler under the age of 18.
• 16:49
I was going to say didn't she admit that she had her boob job like really?
• 16:52
Yeah, like before her breasts were probably done developing.
• 16:55
These things, I mean, it's like it's just like a very interesting family.
• 17:06
What is really interesting, I think is Rob Kardashian is a big part of the early seasons storylines.
• 17:14
Who's dating Adrian Bylon at this time the Cheetah girl.
• 17:19
  Cheetah girl.
• 17:21
  Cheetah girl.
• 17:24
  Cheetah girl.
• 17:26
  Yeah.
• 17:28
  Cheetah girl.
• 17:30
  Cheetah sisters.
• 17:32
Yeah, I love her so much.
• 17:34
  And real value.
• 17:35
  Yeah, very underrated band.
• 17:37
Also, I also had written a mind.
• 17:44
I know it's it's the girl from three little women.
• 17:47
I didn't write out three LW.
• 17:51
  I just said.
• 17:52
I just got together and she had milk.
• 17:53
Can you imagine if there's a spin-off show in its rock Kardashian just living on the prairie just showed.
• 17:57
Honestly, women on the prairie house.
• 18:00
It is sad because they break up like happens.
• 18:03
It's kind of like the first break up.
• 18:05
  Yeah.
• 18:06
And I think it really did like mess him up.
• 18:09
And then you know, he ends up going on with Black Tynon.
• 18:13
  That's a mess.
• 18:14
But he's really a gender have his own show too.
• 18:17
Brody Jenner had a separate show.
• 18:19
  I think he's also on the e-nives.
• 18:21
But he was on the hills, but he also had it was like princes of Calabacis or something.
• 18:28
  Something really takes away.
• 18:30
And it was with Spencer Pratt.
• 18:32
And then he was on the hill.
• 18:35
And then he was on the hill.
• 18:38
And then he was on the hill.
• 18:40
And then he was on the hill.
• 18:42
And then he was on the hill.
• 18:43
And then he was on the hill.

And then he was on the hill.

  Chloe has good American.
• 20:29
  Chloe has good American.
• 20:29
  Chloe has good American.
• 20:30
  Chloe has good American.
• 20:31
I do own a pair of good American jeans.
• 20:32
I do own a pair of good American jeans.
• 20:33
I do own a pair of good American.
• 20:34
I do own a pair of good American jeans.
• 20:35
  Oh, I love good American.
• 20:36
  I love good American.
• 20:37
I really hard not to support any Kardashian products
• 20:38
I really hard not to support any Kardashian products
• 20:39
because I just don't want to.
• 20:40
I don't know if you all that fervor
• 20:42
  and they have enough money.
• 20:43
  Yes.
• 20:44
  But yes.
• 20:45
  But yes.
• 20:46
  But yes.
• 20:47
  But yes.
• 20:48
  But yes.
• 20:49
But look so good in those good American jeans.
• 20:49
So one thing I will, like a plot, Chloe on,
• 20:51
is if you want to carry good American,
• 20:53
so you can't just put like larger sizes online only.
• 20:58
You have to carry them in store.
• 21:00
  I like that.
• 21:01
So I think what she's done there is great.
• 21:04
  I don't own anything skims.
• 21:06
But a lot of people really love it.
• 21:09
  She is kind of greenwashing.
• 21:11
It's not the best like sustainability practice.
• 21:13
Do you remember when she first announced skims?
• 21:16
She was going to name it Kim Mono.
• 21:19
  Yeah.
• 21:20
And they were when it was like,
• 21:21
  "No, you're actually appropriative."
• 21:24
  Yes.
• 21:25
  Absolutely.
• 21:26
I think skims isn't much better named them Kim Mono.
• 21:29
Like, girl, you cannot put a trademark on kimono.
• 21:33
  Yeah.
• 21:34
And just, that's not her heritage.
• 21:37
  That is not her name.
• 21:39
  But my name.
• 21:40
  My name.
• 21:41
  Yes.
• 21:42
  No, sure.
• 21:43
They did have some continued success, I guess, throughout 2015 to 2021.
• 21:47
Keeping up the Kardashians had significant viewership.
• 21:50
But then this is when kind of the controversy started coming out kind of that we touched on earlier.
• 21:55
A lot of like the body shaming and difficulties and the pressures that they're putting on.
• 21:59
And then just editing their picks and lying and like just being inauthentic and like terrible business practices.
• 22:06
And Kanye West certainly didn't help their brand and the slightest being a, you know, Nazi.
• 22:12
So I took all this period where everyone started taking a lot of Xanax because the Kardashian.
• 22:19
  Kardashian, Tyler.
• 22:21
  Okay.
• 22:22
  Okay.
• 22:23
  Sounds like that.
• 22:24
Is that what you sound like when you do sad when you're a valley girl?
• 22:30
  The vote golf.
• 22:31
  Yeah.
• 22:32
Like, I think this one they all got on the same prescriptions.
• 22:36
And they're notorious like just shaking a salad.
• 22:40
  Oh my god.
• 22:41
I wish we could remember that girl's name.
• 22:44
  She's so funny on TikTok.
• 22:46
  No, good Bowman.
• 22:47
  It's the guy.
• 22:48
No, there's this girl and she has like the post hits on the nails whenever she's going to blow.
• 22:51
She's always like an opus solo.
• 22:53
  Yeah.
• 22:54
Like what she's, this is that's it's fall off in her head.
• 22:58
  Yes.
• 22:59
  I can't remember her name.
• 23:00
You have croutons in your salad.
• 23:02
It must be a cheat day.
• 23:04
  Yeah.
• 23:05
The fact that the cultural lexicon is starting to pick up on, oh, they all have disordered eating patterns.
• 23:11
  Yeah.
• 23:12
  They're promoting unrealistic bodies standards.
• 23:14
  Okay.
• 23:15
We're all starting to realize that.
• 23:17
I think, you know, like people are saying like pop culture is vapid and like, why do you care about it?
• 23:22
I think I do think it speaks to a larger conversation about where we are as like a society.
• 23:30
  Yeah.
• 23:31
And I think that, you know, they are symbols of it, but they also exist within it.
• 23:38
  Yeah.
• 23:39
I mean, I don't think any, you know, billionaire is a good person.
• 23:43
  No, ultimately.
• 23:44
I'm even as a plaza tailor swiss.
• 23:48
  I know.
• 23:49
You know, but just people with that much money, like how can you, you know, profit off of?
• 23:54
  I do love those memes.
• 23:55
So it's like Taylor Swift getting a glass of water in the middle of the night.
• 23:57
It's just like an airplane crash.
• 23:58
  Yeah.
• 23:59
  Yeah.
• 24:00
  Yeah.
• 24:01
  Right.
• 24:02
Now, I understand and I agree.
• 24:03
It's like they are a product of pop culture.
• 24:05
I hate it when people say, oh, pop culture is vapid.
• 24:08
  Yeah.
• 24:09
They're products of just like world we live in the band.
• 24:11
And there are so many different facets of pop culture that we can't just, when people
• 24:16
think of pop culture, they might think of the Kardashians, but there's so many other layers.
• 24:20
I mean, people who listen to this podcast, probably, I don't know, there's probably a good
• 24:25
chunk that are the Kardashian fans.
• 24:27
  Yeah.
• 24:28
And then there's a good chunk who are Marvel and anime fans.
• 24:29
It's like all of that is pop culture.
• 24:31
  It's in the lexicon.
• 24:32
  Yeah.
• 24:33
But the Kardashians are just on every newspaper, newspaper, stand every news, paper,
• 24:39
  band.
• 24:40
And every tablite stand when you go to the grocery store to give it a name.
• 24:46
  All of them.
• 24:47
  Shana's old time, everybody.
• 24:48
Yeah, but that's too many words.
• 24:50
  We got it.
• 24:51
We got a name and like, it's got to be something Paul.
• 24:53
  Yeah.
• 24:54
  Is it a guy?
• 24:55
  Yeah, I don't know.
• 24:56
  Hey, hey, come on.
• 24:57
  I always pay for things.
• 24:58
  Yeah.
• 24:59
  Yeah.
• 25:00
It's not like a little manly.
• 25:01
  Thank you.
• 25:02
I do have a deep voice.
• 25:03
  Thank you for reminding me.
• 25:04
  You're so open.
• 25:05
I wouldn't tease my whole life for anything.
• 25:06
So let's break down some of these controversies that the Kardashians.
• 25:17
And when we say the Kardashians, we lump the genders in their shoes.
• 25:20
  Yeah.
• 25:21
  The first one is authenticity.
• 25:49
And I'm not sure if you're going to say it.
• 25:59
I'm not sure if you're going to say it.
• 26:03
I'm not sure if you're going to say it.

• 29:13
I'm promoting all of those products.
• 29:15
They did not get their bodies by drinking diarrhea.
• 29:18
They got it through plastic surgery.
• 29:20
I'm sure that they go to the gym sometimes.
• 29:22
They do work out a lot.
• 29:23
They're very orthorexic on top of having whatever other bodily issues.
• 29:29
But then they show videos of him working out.
• 29:31
She's got a three pounder and she's like, "I work out so hard."
• 29:35
  It's very disordered and orthorexic.
• 29:39
They're not paid money for those bodies.
• 29:42
Absolutely paid money for those bodies.
• 29:44
  Absolutely.
• 29:45
I think there's so many things.
• 29:47
You look at Kendall Jenner with the Pepsi commercial and the Black Lives Matter movement.
• 29:53
  She sold her ACM promotion.
• 29:55
  She sold it.
• 29:56
  She did.
• 29:57
I love when the boys made fun of that Kendall commercial though.
• 30:00
It had a good Pepsi to the con.
• 30:02
She didn't really learn with the promotion of A1A.
• 30:06
  I think Kylie...
• 30:07
I was still releasing like stolen designs of other people and her newest venture of Kylie.
• 30:16
But ultimately it is interesting to see that a plotline to see it in 2017 is still the exact
• 30:25
stereotype and tropes and who they are today.
• 30:27
100% the way we see them.
• 30:29
It's funny that you were talking about all that because that leads into the number two controversy
• 30:33
  which is cultural appropriation.
• 30:35
The members of the Kardashian Jenner family have faced accusations of cultural appropriation
• 30:40
particularly Kim's use of hair styles and clothing associated with other cultures.
• 30:45
These women appropriate black culture like no other.
• 30:49
  Ariana Grande, love of.
• 30:51
  Absolutely.
• 30:52
Ariana Grande and Kylie and Kendall are white women which is insane.
• 30:58
Like Kim and Courtney and Chloe are Armenian.
• 31:03
Chloe or I can't even get their stupid names.
• 31:06
  Right, Kylie.
• 31:07
Why don't there so many girls?
• 31:09
White people wearing corn rows and makeup styles.
• 31:14
It's actually like damaging to your hair to do those styles.
• 31:17
Yeah, as a white person with fine hair.
• 31:22
But they are so trying to feed off of what is...
• 31:26
And I mean to the button injections and lip injections.
• 31:30
  Oh, the BB all.
• 31:33
  Made the BB all popular.
• 31:35
  Exactly.
• 31:36
Trying to present themselves is anything other than white which is what they are but then not giving a single hair about the actual...
• 31:43
Like things that people of color go through especially black people.
• 31:47
Like they were not there during the Black Lives Matters movement.
• 31:50
As much as they love dating Black men and getting BBs like they did not give a single fuck about the Black Lives Matters movement.
• 31:57
Yeah, they've made very insensitive comments Chloe particularly about almost like fetish sizing.
• 32:04
  Black men.
• 32:05
  Black men.
• 32:06
  Yeah.
• 32:07
So I think we could go on and on and on about the harsh ways that the Kardashians have impacted society.
• 32:14
  Oh my god.
• 32:15
I think ultimately the debate is like are they a part...
• 32:19
Are they the faults at fault or are they just existing and profiting in a way?
• 32:24
They're at fault and also profiting off of what they have built.
• 32:28
Like are they just smarter than us because they found a way to make millions of dollars off of it with like...
• 32:33
Do you think you could do what they do if you lived without shame?
• 32:37
I lived just out shame and I was wealthy because like they started this show with a lot of money.
• 32:45
They didn't just start it like...
• 32:47
Shawna and Olivia have a podcast.
• 32:49
And then like if I released a sex tape tomorrow no one would care.
• 32:54
At least 25 people would care.
• 32:57
  My donors.
• 32:58
  My friends would care.
• 32:59
  My friends would care.
• 33:01
  My fight in laws.
• 33:03
  My husband.
• 33:04
Like but you know what I mean.
• 33:05
  Yes.
• 33:06
You and I wouldn't be shot and to start them.
• 33:08
These people already I mean like Caitlin Jenner is a gold star Olympian.
• 33:14
They didn't have a very famous friend who murdered their other very famous friend.
• 33:20
  You know.
• 33:21
We're making an OJ reference here.
• 33:23
  Okay.
• 33:24
  I thought so.
• 33:25
  Did you see me first?
• 33:26
  I can go.
• 33:27
I sort of like the math.
• 33:29
  She's thinking.
• 33:30
  Yeah.
• 33:31
  Okay.
• 33:32
  Okay.
• 33:33
  Okay Simpson.
• 33:34
Literally daddy Kardashian is the OJ Simpson lawyer.
• 33:36
  They were already wealthy people.
• 33:38
She already had an end with Paris Hilton when she made the show.
• 33:41
So sure if I had if I was an insanely rich person in Calabas.
• 33:46
  I could do this shit.
• 33:48
  Yeah.
• 33:49
Especially like you said if I existed without shame.
• 33:51
  Yeah.
• 33:52
  Fill me up.
• 33:53
  Yeah.
• 33:54
Like with money and fake boobs and I think what they do they have found.
• 33:59
I will say they've cracked the code right.
• 34:01
  Yeah.
• 34:02
  Of.
• 34:04
They all got BBLs and then BBLs exploded.
• 34:07
Did you also notice what happened maybe two years ago?
• 34:09
  They reduced their BBLs.
• 34:11
  Kim became very thin again.
• 34:13
  Chloe is so thin.
• 34:15
  Yeah.
• 34:16
And then all of a sudden there's articles that are like heroin.
• 34:19
  She goes back.
• 34:20
  Yeah.
• 34:21
San is and ozampic ozampic get on semi-gluteide.
• 34:24
I think those two like I'm not saying that the Kardashians are 100% to blame for body
• 34:33
  to smore for yet.
• 34:34
But I don't think they're doing anything to help.
• 34:36
  Yeah.
• 34:37
To be fair in like season one they had like a trim spa ad so.
• 34:41
  Yeah.
• 34:42
I think it's interesting because we made them so famous.
• 34:47
  We did make them famous.
• 34:49
It's society as a whole watched these people.
• 34:51
  I need more of that.
• 34:53
  I need 15 spin-offs right now.
• 34:56
  I wonder what happened.
• 34:57
  They went to Miami.
• 34:58
  Oh my god.
• 34:59
There was also Hamptons one in there which was both of Scott's parents had just died.
• 35:05
And they filmed them in the Hamptons just losing his mind in the middle of like addiction.
• 35:13
Like these people like Chris Chenner is just like.
• 35:16
  Like you just like.
• 35:17
  Yeah.
• 35:18
They're awful people like Chris Chenner is an evil evil mastermind.
• 35:22
The devil works hard but Chris Chenner works harder.
• 35:25
  She earned it.
• 35:26
  She earned it.
• 35:27
And you know now Ranger insists that Kim and Chris were both very involved in the sale
• 35:35
of the tape just to you know tie the loop on the introduction.
• 35:39
  Yeah that's right.
• 35:40
  That is very alleged.
• 35:41
  Ranger has his feelings.
• 35:43
You know there are some documents where Kim made millions off of it at the end of the
• 35:50
  day.
• 35:51
Is it before or after we don't know.
• 35:55
I think she needed something that was going to push her away from being just Paris Hilton's
• 36:00
  closet lady.
• 36:02
And being like let's get the people talking all press is good press.
• 36:07
And I think that kind of boils it down to it too.
• 36:09
  All press is good press.
• 36:10
  Yeah.
• 36:11
Even when I've watched promos for the Kardashians which is their new show on Hulu just called
• 36:17
the Kardashians which is I have a tin foil hat moment.
• 36:21
I don't think anyone actually watches it and Hulu is pretending people are.
• 36:26
So that you actually don't show please let us.
• 36:29
  Yeah.
• 36:30
  Pop off.
• 36:31
  I don't know.
• 36:34
  I don't know.
• 36:35
  I don't know.
• 36:36
  I mean maybe I don't hang out.
• 36:37
Unless I got a step there's bought no way.
• 36:39
  No way.
• 36:40
  Absolutely.
• 36:41
But I saw some commercial work highly it was like I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:47
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:49
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:50
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:51
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:52
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:53
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:54
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:55
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:56
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:57
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:58
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 36:59
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:00
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:01
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:02
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:03
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:04
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:05
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:06
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:07
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:08
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:09
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:10
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:11
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:12
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:13
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:14
I'm not going to be a little bit more.
• 37:15
I will hold space for the fact that she grew up and like you said, she went through puberty on this show and she has so much stress coming at her.
• 37:23
But at the same time, you lived in normal, you lived like a very sheltered life.
• 37:28
There are other gender children like Caitlin has other children who are not famous in the slightest who just live their lives.
• 37:36
And the way that Kylie is.
• 37:39
  Kylie is.
• 37:40
  Caitlin as well.
• 37:41
  Well, we all fucking hate.
• 37:42
  She's a transgender transphobic.
• 37:47
  Yeah.
• 37:48
  It's a paradox and it's a paradox and it's a young back.
• 37:52
  Like, fuck Caitlin.
• 37:53
  But like I don't know.
• 37:56
I think that Kylie, she can cry her crocodile tears at the end of the day.
• 38:00
Nobody is forcing her to edit her pictures.
• 38:02
  Yes.
• 38:03
No one is forcing her to say, I didn't have any work done.
• 38:06
  When girl, we have eyeballs.
• 38:08
  Yeah.
• 38:09
The gas light is just like suspended off.
• 38:13
  Breath, rip it off.
• 38:14
  Just go full scale.
• 38:15
  Here's everything I've had.
• 38:16
Especially because they trickle it out every few years.
• 38:19
They're like, yeah, I had lip injections.
• 38:21
We're like, so you just said you're a liar.
• 38:23
  We know.
• 38:24
  I have some plants.
• 38:25
  Yeah.
• 38:26
  We know.
• 38:27
You didn't look like that before.
• 38:30
  Yeah.
• 38:31
  Anyway.
• 38:32
But to recommend to our listeners something that is not as growing as keeping up with the Kardashians.
• 38:38
Let's talk about things that we actually are enjoying right now.
• 38:41
And if you are watching the Kardashians, please for love of God.
• 38:44
  Tell us.
• 38:45
I want to know if it's something you enjoy or if you watch it.
• 38:48
  Yeah.
• 38:49
  Or what you hate watching.
• 38:50
  Yeah.
• 38:51
Like, is it a hate watch?
• 38:52
  Is it a genuine joy?
• 38:53
  Yeah.
• 38:54
  Give us the tea.
• 38:55
  Yes.
• 38:56
But real fast, what are you watching that you really like?
• 38:57
Or what have you watched recently that you would recommend?
• 38:58
So last week I talked about the Netflix Scott Peter son.
• 39:02
  Oh, yeah.
• 39:03
  It's on my cue.
• 39:04
So the peacock one was interesting.
• 39:07
  I mean, I still think he's guilty.
• 39:09
  Oh, yeah.
• 39:10
Unfortunately, the prosecution did commit what is called a Brady violation, which is not turning
• 39:17
over evidence that could benefit the defendant in their trial.
• 39:23
And so because of the prosecution and the police acting that way, their innocence project
• 39:30
is using a part of their grant to do DNA testing on a part of a crime that happened
• 39:37
across the street, which is their counter argument.
• 39:40
  This is currently going on.
• 39:42
  Yes.
• 39:43
So that's kind of what the peacock documentary is about.
• 39:46
I think when you look at Scott Peterson, like, there's just something about him.
• 39:50
Like I still don't trust him.
• 39:52
But I do believe that everyone, especially someone on death row deserves the every right
• 39:58
  type of fair trial.
• 39:59
  Oh, yeah.
• 40:00
If somebody is going to be facing down the death sentence, I mean, we don't need to talk
• 40:04
about what we feel about the death sentence.
• 40:06
Like at least make sure 100% yes, yes, absolutely.
• 40:11
And so if there's DNA to test, he deserves that.
• 40:14
  I still think he's guilty.
• 40:15
But yeah, let them test the DNA.
• 40:17
So I think you, you could get away with listening to that blurb.
• 40:20
I don't think peacock should be glorified for one interviewing Scott Peterson and Casey
• 40:26
  Anthony.
• 40:27
  Oh, that's right.
• 40:28
  Did you watch that one?
• 40:29
  No, I don't know.
• 40:30
  I don't know.
• 40:31
I don't want to give her.
• 40:32
I watched a TikTok of someone surmising it for me.
• 40:34
So I didn't have if I had to watch that woman lie boldly to my face for two hours about murdering
• 40:40
  her.
• 40:41
  Yeah, absolutely blaming her dad.
• 40:44
  Yeah, crazy.
• 40:45
No, but so I don't think we should we're not I'm not popping the peacock one.
• 40:50
  Go watch the Netflix one.
• 40:52
Lacey's family is very involved in it.
• 40:54
And that's the one that they're supporting.
• 40:56
  So love Island is over.
• 40:58
I don't watch a lot of peacock right now.
• 41:00
Anyway, yeah, I'm using Jessica's thanks.
• 41:04
  Yeah, well don't cancel hers.
• 41:06
  It will cancel Jessica's.
• 41:07
She's in a long, I'm on day and be like, oh, yeah, yeah.
• 41:11
Something that I'm going to pop that I saw.
• 41:13
Okay, so this movie came out called trap and it's in night shaman on my husband.
• 41:20
If you ever use a spoil for you, but I will keep it.
• 41:23
  I will.
• 41:24
Oh, yeah, I won't spoil that thing.
• 41:25
But it's got 55% on Rotten Tomatoes.
• 41:28
It's technically rotten, but it's not one of those like it's a nice.
• 41:31
It's always going to be convoluted and stupid at the end.
• 41:37
Like that she will not spoil the shaman on twist.
• 41:40
  Shaman on the show.
• 41:41
  Shaman on twist.
• 41:42
Yeah, my husband has a personal thing dedicated in the night.
• 41:45
  He would do it.
• 41:47
  Twist.
• 41:48
If Andrew saw him night shaman on the street, he would kick his ass like on site for what
• 41:53
he did to Avatar the last air.
• 41:55
Oh, I can wear it for a shot for giving him his personal.
• 41:59
  It was a vicious farm.
• 42:02
So it was so bad, but so he won't see it.
• 42:05
I wanted to go see this movie because Josh Hartnitz.
• 42:09
I thought we were going to go see it.
• 42:11
  I am so sorry.
• 42:12
  I will watch it again.
• 42:13
  I liked it.
• 42:14
  I really liked this movie.
• 42:15
I saw it with my sister in law because Josh Hartnitz isn't it?
• 42:18
And I am here for the Josh Hartnitz.
• 42:20
  Oh, gee, crush.
• 42:21
Do you want to hear how I am?
• 42:23
  Olivia.
• 42:24
I don't know where we are.
• 42:36
  What's he been in?
• 42:37
  I've never seen any.
• 42:38
  Who's he?
• 42:39
  Well, she's uncultured.
• 42:40
  What do you mean?
• 42:41
  What do you mean?
• 42:42
  What do you mean?
• 42:43
  What do you mean?
• 42:44
But then halfway through the movie, she's like, okay, this guy is Zadi.
• 42:47
  Yeah.
• 42:48
  He's like, yeah, exactly.
• 42:50
He was like, him and the Virgin Z suicide.
• 42:53
  He's so handsome.
• 42:54
And this movie, he's so handsome.
• 42:56
And have you seen the previews for it?
• 42:57
  Yeah.
• 42:58
  Okay.
• 42:59
I'm not spilling from the previews.
• 43:00
  He's a murderer.
• 43:01
  Yeah.
• 43:02
They give that much away in the previews.
• 43:03
  Yeah.
• 43:04
I will say it's partially a commercial for Imnight Shyamalan's daughter singing career.
• 43:07
  Yeah.
• 43:08
  Because she plays.
• 43:09
Yeah, she plays the singer in the movie of this concert.
• 43:12
  Yeah.
• 43:13
He's bringing his like 12 year old daughter to like a pop show.
• 43:15
  Yeah.
• 43:16
  So she's a wonderful singer.
• 43:18
  She's great.
• 43:19
She had some bops in this movie.
• 43:20
I think they were just written for the movie.
• 43:22
But I was like, I might listen to the soundtrack.
• 43:24
  Yeah.
• 43:25
You kind of slap as the youth say, I will pop trap.
• 43:29
Am I saying run out to theaters and spend $15 to see it?
• 43:33
  No.
• 43:34
We saw it in Matt and E. It was like seven bucks.
• 43:35
  Wait for it to stream.
• 43:36
  I had a beloved.
• 43:37
  A lovely time.
• 43:38
  To close the sound.
• 43:39
What is your favorite Imnight Shyamalan movie?
• 43:43
I mean, I would have to say, um, what's the one where they put on the tin foil hats with
• 43:48
the alien and the walking phoenix?
• 43:51
  Science.
• 43:52
  Science.
• 43:53
  I like science.
• 43:54
  Oh, he did.
• 43:55
  Science.
• 43:56
  Oh, shit.
• 43:57
  That changes everything.
• 43:58
  Yeah.
• 43:59
  Science is my favorite one.
• 44:00
I was like devil and I'm terrified of all of it.
• 44:02
  I love devil so much.
• 44:03
  I love devil so much.
• 44:04
  Yeah.
• 44:05
I also really liked the happening.
• 44:07
  I love the happening.
• 44:09
  I just took closes out.
• 44:10
I have to show you this.
• 44:11
  I love the happening.
• 44:12
  I love the happening.
• 44:13
  I love the happening.
• 44:14
  I love the happening.
• 44:15
  I love it.
• 44:16
  I love it.
• 44:17
I want to do my happening impersonation.
• 44:18
  What?
• 44:19
  No.
• 44:20
  I don't care.
• 44:21
  Okay.
• 44:22
  Okay.
• 44:23
  Those beautiful things.
• 44:24
You've really been perfecting them for years.
• 44:26
I mean, saying that impersonation in our house for years, what?
• 44:30
  No.
• 44:31
  Okay.
• 44:32
So I go, I live in Texas at this time.
• 44:36
It's not really an important detail, but I felt it gave color.
• 44:39
  I liked it.
• 44:40
  So I'm in Texas.
• 44:41
  I have this time.
• 44:42
  I have this time.
• 44:43
  And I can't drive.
• 44:44
  I'm like that young.
• 44:45
  The shutter license taken away.
• 44:47
  No, I didn't have a license.
• 44:49
  That was a little baby.
• 44:50
So I think I was like 13, probably.
• 44:52
We can fact check the years.
• 44:53
  No, no, no, it's cool.
• 44:54
  We're all in with it.
• 44:55
  So I wanted to remember.
• 44:56
I'm in a car with one of my guy friends and we just left the happening and we're at
• 45:02
  this three way stop.
• 45:03
  And you're driving?
• 45:04
  No, they're driving.
• 45:05
  Okay.
• 45:06
So we're at this three way stop.
• 45:08
We're like about to go straight.
• 45:10
The people across from us about to go straight.
• 45:12
And then there's the other land that can either go left or go right in a day instead
• 45:19
of doing either of that just straight gun it into like this field.
• 45:26
And so literally you rolled the window.
• 45:28
  It's real slow.
• 45:29
  I was like, it's happening.
• 45:32
  It's happening.
• 45:33
Like literally they just like drove off into a ditch.
• 45:37
I was like, I'm probably fucking hammered.
• 45:39
  No, they get poising them.
• 45:41
  Literally.
• 45:42
And I was like, so it really felt like it was happening for me that day.
• 45:46
  It was happening.
• 45:47
Every Thursday Andrew goes and plays and drags both his friends and I watch a new disaster
• 45:53
  movie.
• 45:54
  Sometimes there's a fact that I know.
• 45:57
Every time I do I like I like disaster movies end of the world movies.
• 46:06
  I like things.
• 46:07
  I love those two.
• 46:08
But people are confined to a space and they can't leave.
• 46:11
Like, very busy or the one where they're on the top of the pole that they climbed up.
• 46:16
I love those are like the girl who's trapped in the shipping container.
• 46:21
  I love all this.
• 46:23
This Thursday when he goes to carts, I'm going to watch the happening.
• 46:25
  Oh, dude, I want to.
• 46:26
  I want to.
• 46:27
  It's so bad.
• 46:28
  It's so bad.
• 46:29
It's so bad that it's good.
• 46:31
But I'm not sure what that's like every movie.
• 46:33
I think the closest one that he had that was I'm like, oh, come on.
• 46:37
  The six.
• 46:38
  Yeah, it's exact.
• 46:39
So yeah, he's been riding that six cents and signs high for his entire career.
• 46:44
  Yeah.
• 46:45
  Yeah, he up and down.
• 46:46
  Yeah.
• 46:47
Let us know if you guys like him.
• 46:48
  Night Shyamalan.
• 46:49
