- 0:00Vox Liturgica: The Propers of the Day according to the Roman Missal before 1955. The Feast of Saint William, Abbot, June 25 in the year of our Lord 2026. In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost. Amen.
- 0:28The introit.
- 0:31Right reason is on the good man's lips. Well waited are all his counsels. The law of God rules in his heart. Allay thy impatience with the wicked. Envy not the lot of evildoers.
- 0:49Glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages. Amen. Right reason is on the good man's lips. Well weighted are all his counsels. The law of God rules in his heart.
- 1:18The collect, let us pray. May the intercession of blessed William the Abbott commend us to thee, we beseech thee, O Lord, so that what we cannot obtain by our own merits, we may attain through his patronage. A commemoration of the octave of Saint John the Baptist. O God, who has made this day honorable to us on account of the birth of blessed John. Grant to thy people the grace of spiritual joys and direct the minds of all the faithful into the way of eternal salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages.
- 2:18Amen. A lesson from the wisdom of Sirach. Well loved by God, well loved among men, a benediction rests upon his memory. The Lord gave him such honor as he gives to his holy ones, gave him renown by striking terror into his enemies, and then at his word abated the prodigies that had befallen them. He made him great in the eyes of kings, entrusted commandments to him in full view of the chosen people, made a revelation to him of the divine glory.
- 3:03The Lord set him apart, chosen out from the rest of mankind. So loyal he was and so gentle answered his prayer by taking him up in a cloud and there face to face imparting commandments to him, the law that gives life and wisdom. The gradual. Lord, with abundant blessings, thou hast met him on his way, hast set a jeweled crown upon his head. He prayed for life, and thou hast granted him life unfailing till the end of time.
- 3:52Alleluia. Alleluia. The just man shall flourish like the palm tree. He shall grow to greatness like the cedars of Lebanon. Alleluia.
- 4:08A continuation of the holy gospel according to Matthew. At that time Peter said to Jesus, and what of us who have forsaken all and followed thee, what is left for us? Jesus said to them, I promise you in the new birth when the son of man sits on the throne of his glory, you also shall sit there on 12 thrones. You who have followed me and shall be judges over the 12 tribes of Israel. And every man that has forsaken home or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name's sake shall receive his reward a hundredfold and obtain everlasting life.
- 5:13The offertory. Never a wish in his heart, O Lord, hast thou disappointed. Never a prayer on his lips denied. Thou hast set a jeweled crown on his head. The secret.
- 5:34May thy holy abbot William, we beseech thee, o Lord, obtain by his prayers that the sacrifice laid on thy holy altar may profit us unto salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. A commemoration of the Octave of Saint John the Baptist. We heap our gifts upon thine altars, O Lord, as we celebrate with due honor the nativity of him who prophesied the coming and made known the presence of the world savior. Jesus Christ, thy son, our Lord, who is god living and reigning with thee in the unity of the holy ghost through all ages of ages.
- 6:37Amen. The common preface, just it is indeed and fitting right in for our salvation that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, oh, holy Lord, father almighty, everlasting God. Through whom the angels praise thy majesty, the dominions worship it, the power stand in awe, the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. We entreat thee that thou command it be permitted us to join with them in confessing thee while we say with lowly praise. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts, the heavens and the earth are full of thy glory.
- 7:35Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord. Hosanna in the highest. The communion. He was a faithful and wise servant whom the Lord setteth over his family to give them their measure of wheat in due season.
- 8:06The post communion. Let us pray. May the pleading for us of blessed William the Abbot as well as the reception of thy sacrament protect us, O Lord, that we may both share in the glory of his works and receive the help of his intercession through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. A commemoration of the octave of Saint John the Baptist.
- 8:51Let thy church, o Lord, rejoice at the birth of blessed John the Baptist through whom she came to know the author of her own new birth, Jesus Christ, thy son, our lord, who is god, living and reigning with thee in the unity of the holy ghost through all ages of ages. Amen. In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. Saint William, pray for us.
- 9:34Saint John the Baptist, pray for us. Hi.
