- 0:01In the Life Divine SRI aurobindo describes the Sevenfold
- 0:06ignorance which limits the human being.
- 0:10We live in a world about which we know very little and we lack
- 0:13a complete understanding of the significance of Our Lives.
- 0:18The meaning of existence or the processes of time as a result we
- 0:24act, as if we are separate beings living in a separate
- 0:27existence. And we React to what we do, not
- 0:30know or what we imagined or what we perceive to be a threat to
- 0:36that individual existence with fear.
- 0:40The basis of the fear reaction can be seen in the consciousness
- 0:43of the animal. And as shown in the secret life
- 0:47of plants even in a very rudimentary way.
- 0:50And the plant in these cases, the perception of a vibration of
- 0:55threat, whether from a predator or some Danger from outside
- 1:01brings forth, the reaction, we can see this in operation very
- 1:06clearly in the relation between a predator and its prey The prey
- 1:11knows, it is going to become food for the predator and begins
- 1:14to shake and exhibit all the symptoms of fear.
- 1:19These very basic reactions carry over into the human being, but
- 1:23they become accentuated through the process of our attempt to
- 1:27extrapolate in our Ignorance by imagining what may happen, What
- 1:33could happen and what implications that has This
- 1:38occurs not only in a true physical threat, but in
- 1:42virtually every circumstance of human interaction in the world.
- 1:48given the pervasive nature of fear in human existence, it is
- 1:52important to understand how to deal with it so that we can not
- 1:56only function in our lives, but use the opportunity to grow and
- 2:01master this reaction SRI aurobindo in his book, The
- 2:05Mother devotes a chapter to the question.
- 2:09He States, quote to walk through life, armored against all fear,
- 2:14Peril and disaster. Only two things are needed to
- 2:18that go always together the grace of the Divine mother and
- 2:23on your side and Interstate made up of Faith, sincerity and
- 2:29surrender and quote He explains these in depth.
- 2:34As the chapter continues, the issue here is the shift from the
- 2:39ego Centric view point to one that is divine Centric for a
- 2:44seeker of spiritual realization. This is the ultimate solution to
- 2:49fear, as long as we remain rooted in the ego and the body
- 2:53life, mine complex. We take personally any threats
- 2:58to our existence or our well-being.
- 3:01Fear can be paralyzing emotion and for those not yet fully
- 3:06devoted to the yogic sadhna. It must still be addressed one
- 3:11way or another. The mother observes quote fear
- 3:17is a phenomenon of unconsciousness.
- 3:19It is a kind of Anguish that comes from ignorance.
- 3:23One does not know the nature of a certain thing does not know
- 3:27its effect or what will happen. Does not know the consequences
- 3:31of Tax one does not know so many things and the ignorant brings
- 3:37fear when fears, what one does not know.
- 3:42Take a child. If it is brought before someone,
- 3:44it does not know. I'm not speaking of a child with
- 3:48an awakened inner Consciousness. I'm speaking of an ordinary
- 3:51child. You bring it before, someone it
- 3:54does not know. Its first movement will always
- 3:56be one of fear. Only very rare children.
- 4:01And they have another Consciousness are very bold.
- 4:05It may also be a mixture of apprehension.
- 4:07A kind of instinct. When one instinctively feels
- 4:11that something is dangerous and hasn't the means to remedy it.
- 4:16When one does not know what to do to protect himself from it,
- 4:20then he is afraid. There are I believe, countless
- 4:24reasons for fear but it is a movement of unconsciousness.
- 4:28In every case, That which knows has no fear that which is
- 4:35perfectly awake, which is fully conscious and which nose has no
- 4:41fear. It is always something dark.
- 4:44That is afraid. One of the great remedies for
- 4:48conquering, fear is to face boldly.
- 4:50What one fears you are put face-to-face with the danger,
- 4:54you fear and you fear it, no longer the fear disappears from
- 4:59the yogic point of view. The point of view of discipline,
- 5:04this is the cure recommended in the ancient initiations,
- 5:08especially in Egypt in order to practice occultism.
- 5:13As I was telling you last time it was necessary.
- 5:16Ready to abolish, the fear of death completely.
- 5:19Well, one of the practices of those days was to lay the
- 5:23neophyte in a sarcophagus and leave him in there for a few
- 5:27days as though he were dead. Naturally he was not left to
- 5:32die. Neither of hunger nor
- 5:35Suffocation but still he remained lying there as though
- 5:39he were dead. It seems that cures you of all
- 5:43fear. When fear comes, if one succeeds
- 5:47in putting upon it Consciousness, knowledge Force
- 5:52light when can cure it all together.
- 5:56End quote, reference SRI aurobindo and the mother living
- 6:01within the yoga approached, a psychological health and growth,
- 6:05disturbances of the vital fear ages, 50 to 53.
