- 0:00SPEAKER_01: It's been a minute since I sat here.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: About a week or so?
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, about a week or so.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome back, you guys.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Everybody's the first day of school.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: It's here, yes.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, and I will tell you, I was down in Waverly on Saturday and it was like a whole street pep rally.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, that thing sounded so good.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: I was listening to your broadcast, going, I feel like I should drive down right now.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: It was so much fun.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And it really got me amped up for school.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: All the all the sports teams were there.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: And I mean from golf to volleyball to even like the little kid football teams.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: I don't remember what they call them.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: But small fry.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they called them something else.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Pre-reck or something.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: It was it was a name I was like, oh, okay, I never really heard that.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: But anyway, uh and and it just was the it was the setting of the tone.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And even yesterday, a girlfriend of mine, she's a teacher.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: She also has two kids, and she's like, What's everyone doing for their last day of summer?
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Because my kids and I are kind of like at the end of our rope of doing activities.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: You kind of use like a lot of times, maybe something you do on Labor Day, but then the rest of the time you're like, everybody relax.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Just relax, get some rest here.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Because you know what else happened?
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: What?
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Years ago, it was the big thing.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: You start prepping your kids for the get up schedule like a week ahead of time.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, my mom always did that.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: I don't feel like does anybody do that anymore?
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Or do you just like all crunch it into the Labor Day weekend?
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Like I know on Sunday night, I'm like, well, Gavin, you're gonna be in your bed laying down at 8 30 at night.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: I don't care what's going on.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: And what did he say?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Was he like he was actually okay with it?
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: I think he was even at the point where he was like, I'm tired.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Well, that and I I think just getting back to normal.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: When I go on vacation, I would I just want to get back to normal.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: So I think that their little bodies want that too.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: I I I would go with that.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: I would also say it's weird because this summer, for whatever reason, was a blink of an eye.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, I know.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: It was not there was like normally, and here's the other thing wasn't the hottest summer.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: If you think about it, I mean, I know technically summer's not over, but if you think about it, we had that one heat dome at the end of June.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: It was not unbearable the rest of the summer.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: I thought it was perfect.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Back to the whole like going to bed at a certain time, too.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: I think by the time right before summer uh ends, it just gets to a point where I'm like, okay, I know as a kid I'm gonna have to.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I like I cannot give my mom a bunch of crap.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: At first, you're kind of like, oh mom.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: I don't think most kids know that.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: I think the parents know that and wish the kids knew that.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: My mom was so strict that I was like, oh mom, and she's like, no, no, I don't want to hear any of it.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Like, get in that bed right now.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: And you listen to the kids playing outside because they're the ones not getting up on time tomorrow.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: That was what it was.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: It would be bright out.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: You could hear people outside.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: I'm like, why am I laying here?
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: I know, but and now we all wish we could be in bed by five.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Oh my God, yes.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I saw a neighbor the other day, and she it was like 5 45.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I was getting some some bonfire wood from her for the Labor Day weekend, and she was like, I'm already in my pajamas.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: At 5 45, I'm like, good, good for you.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Good for you.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Yes, good on you.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: We've got uh buses that are gonna be back today.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: This is gonna be a weird day because you've got a lot of stuff that you don't normally see or haven't seen for like three months.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, a lot more traffic this morning, that's for sure.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Buses.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Now I know in Pennsylvania you're going, yeah, this has been going on for a few weeks now.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: All right, for everybody else, though, that's happening.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: There'll be kids walking, school zones.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Remember the speed limits, and I promise you, the West Elmira cops already out.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: They're not even parked.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: I look every day to see, I'm like, somebody out already patrolling.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're there's they're already out.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: You know what was a precursor for me?
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Elmira college students.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: How many times now I have to stop in front of Elmyra College?
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Because they're walking?
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, I haven't done that in so many months.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: And then I've just noticed in the past week, and you see a lot more younger faces.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: So you know those are the freshmen who are just mosing around campus.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Getting acclimated.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: So that was a good uh I would say a little pre start to school was going through that Elmira College zone.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, kids to get ready.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: All right, on the way, uh, let's see here.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: We'll cover a a bunch of texts.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: We've got some big Nelly news, which is coming up this Friday.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: This Friday.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Well, all right, I guess we're on our way.
