- 1:37Speaker 2: Your beer looks great. Just does the carpet match the drapes?
- 1:41Speaker 2: That's what everybody wants to know.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It's very I'm oscillating between guy in a cult and
- 1:47Speaker 1: guy you wouldn't want to be your wife's yoga teacher.
- 1:50Speaker 1: That's where that's I have entered into the era where
- 1:53Speaker 1: I am wearing one of these women's headbands like a
- 1:56Speaker 1: European soccer player. And it's not You would not like
- 2:00Speaker 1: the version of me that exists right now. Absolutely not.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Well I'll tell you, I'll tell you who who would
- 2:06Speaker 2: love that? The what's your mascot's name?
- 2:08Speaker 3: The Viking?
- 2:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna get fired from my show, Victor, Victor, the Victor,
- 2:13Speaker 1: the Viking. Yeah, I knew he.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Was a Viking.
- 2:16Speaker 1: By the way.
- 2:16Speaker 2: That would be this would be the end of the podcast,
- 2:18Speaker 2: was like, what's the who's your what's the mascot for you?
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:21Speaker 2: But you know It's like, there's you know, the Clippers have,
- 2:26Speaker 2: Like what Paulie the Parrot or Peter the Plan.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I don't know, it doesn't matter.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It's something that has nothing to do with clipping.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, they should move to Seattle anyway.
- 2:34Speaker 2: But but there's uh who's the Raiders have? What's what's
- 2:39Speaker 2: his deal? Is it just uh Bo Jackson's Bow and
- 2:41Speaker 2: arrow store?
- 2:42Speaker 1: What's the only one I remember is the Chargers mascot,
- 2:46Speaker 1: which is Bolt, who's a lightning bolt that when you
- 2:49Speaker 1: take his glasses off, looks like he's been huffing dried
- 2:52Speaker 1: up red bull.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Like it's who has done that?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yeah? He's a wild He's a wild looking dude. Man,
- 2:59Speaker 1: I'm you joined the show. I know I'm a I'm
- 3:03Speaker 1: a die hard Vikings fan, but I'm also a huge
- 3:07Speaker 1: NBA guy and I see the Sonics hat on you,
- 3:10Speaker 1: and it's hard. I'm going to come back to that
- 3:12Speaker 1: because I will derail an entire football show talking about
- 3:15Speaker 1: Sean Campen, the tragedy that your city doesn't have a team.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah, let's talk about my parents' divorce first.
- 3:20Speaker 2: You want to really just build up to the extreme
- 3:23Speaker 2: sadness that has filled the late two thousands.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Of my life.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm a Diard Seattle sports fan, you know,
- 3:30Speaker 2: speaking of football, and just you know, I know that's
- 3:32Speaker 2: what we're here to discuss. But in the matchup between
- 3:35Speaker 2: my Hawks and your Vikes on Sunday, which is a
- 3:39Speaker 2: way bigger game for us.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Than it is for you guys, I don't.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I mean, I know you guys are trying to secure
- 3:43Speaker 2: home field, but you know we are trying to not
- 3:46Speaker 2: blow the division and and not slipping as a wild
- 3:50Speaker 2: card again, which doesn't we just that's not our route.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I guess it was our route the first Super Bowl year.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Oh wait, no, it wasn't.
- 3:56Speaker 2: We had home field advantage there, so you you always
- 3:59Speaker 2: want to the fans are the twelves as we call
- 4:03Speaker 2: him are are definitely a factor. But I was just
- 4:06Speaker 2: up in Seattle last week for the Green Bay game.
- 4:08Speaker 2: You know, John Schneider, our GM is a good buddy
- 4:10Speaker 2: of mine, and he saw a video of me roasting
- 4:14Speaker 2: the Steelers last August. They had hit me up because
- 4:18Speaker 2: I was doing shows at the Improv out there, and
- 4:20Speaker 2: they're like, do you want to come in a day early?
- 4:21Speaker 2: We have our rookie talent show and we'd love you
- 4:23Speaker 2: to host it. So I got all these roast jokes.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I thought that was just me be the rookies. It's
- 4:27Speaker 2: the whole squad. Tomlin's in there, Russ and Fields are
- 4:30Speaker 2: front row. I had one Russ joke and Russ laughed,
- 4:33Speaker 2: and I was like.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Russ laughed, We're fine. And every time I do a
- 4:36Speaker 3: joke that people grown dad, I'd be like, Russ liked it.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I don't know what to tell you guys. But so
- 4:42Speaker 2: then Schneider was like, you got to do that for
- 4:44Speaker 2: the Hawks. So I went up there and did it
- 4:46Speaker 2: Saturday morning, which is a great time for comedy, like
- 4:49Speaker 2: eight forty five, after their quick morning meeting.
- 4:52Speaker 3: And it was awesome though.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Man, I had had a great moment with DK, and
- 4:56Speaker 2: it was my first time meeting Mike McDonald and he's
- 4:58Speaker 2: just a stud and and and had been following me
- 5:01Speaker 2: for a bit, so he's a comedy guy. And I
- 5:02Speaker 2: go DKs here, everyone goes, oh, go to his birthday, K,
- 5:06Speaker 2: what do you want for your birthday?
- 5:07Speaker 3: He goes, No more jokes out of your.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Ass, and everybody's like oh, and I go, well, strap up, bitch.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I got twenty logged.
- 5:12Speaker 2: And loaded and then we just kind of went down
- 5:14Speaker 2: the line on most of the players, but they were
- 5:16Speaker 2: all like great sports about it. I'm probably gonna post
- 5:18Speaker 2: some clips to that and the next week or so,
- 5:20Speaker 2: depending on if we win Sunday and can ride some momentum.
- 5:24Speaker 3: But yeah, dude, diehard.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Hot is that? Like? So we had Al Madrigal was
- 5:28Speaker 1: on earlier this year, and you know, he's like lifelong Niners,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and so he did something similar for the Niners and
- 5:34Speaker 1: they liked it so much that they had him come
- 5:37Speaker 1: and roast. This is the craziest thing I've ever heard.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Al roasted the NFL owners at Super Bowl Week, which
- 5:44Speaker 1: is I can't imagine a worst job in his Like you,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I'd rather host, and I'd liked rather host for like
- 5:50Speaker 1: an execution than roast owners of an NFL team. But
- 5:55Speaker 1: like when you got to do that, Like, was that surreal?
- 5:59Speaker 1: Was there any Like? It's such a unique environment when
- 6:03Speaker 1: you cross I've found this like when you take comedy
- 6:06Speaker 1: into sports, sometimes it's incredible, and sometimes you realize how
- 6:11Speaker 1: seriously the sports world takes itself and there's kind of
- 6:16Speaker 1: it's all kind of dictated by the vibe up top.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So I assume Schneider and all the people in Seattle
- 6:21Speaker 1: are really great.
- 6:22Speaker 3: They really set the tone for sure.
- 6:24Speaker 2: They were like the team is also young and loose,
- 6:27Speaker 2: and it was you know, Friday was a day we
- 6:29Speaker 2: considered doing, but they were still in gom as far
- 6:31Speaker 2: as like beat the Packers, and Saturday it was more like,
- 6:34Speaker 2: you know, a light morning walkthrough and then this meeting,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and it was day before and they had most of
- 6:38Speaker 2: the day off the chill, so it was just more conducive.
- 6:41Speaker 3: To for me to be up there slinging jokes.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I also, you know, energy plays a big part of it,
- 6:47Speaker 2: like the way you get into it. I mean, I
- 6:49Speaker 2: can't imagine roasting the owners in general, but like you know,
- 6:53Speaker 2: I like to really get them to have some idea
- 6:57Speaker 2: of who I am before I start doing that, and
- 7:00Speaker 2: build some rapport before you start.
- 7:02Speaker 3: That's just my comfort level with any sort of ROW situation.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I gotta you know, kind of break the room up
- 7:07Speaker 2: first before I just get up there and have it.
- 7:10Speaker 3: There'd be a separation, you know, just break the fourth wall.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Really, but they were all good sports man and yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 2: I don't know, man, it was I was nervous as
- 7:18Speaker 2: hell because they're my team.
- 7:19Speaker 3: The Steelers one I wasn't really nervous for because I
- 7:21Speaker 3: was like, yeah, they don't like me.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Who gives a But I wanted so badly for these
- 7:25Speaker 2: guys to, you know, not to like end up best
- 7:27Speaker 2: friends with them.
- 7:28Speaker 1: But like you can say, you want the like it's
- 7:30Speaker 1: a weird I like you when you get in it's
- 7:33Speaker 1: something weird no matter what you've done. When you're near
- 7:36Speaker 1: one of your favorite teams from when you're a kid,
- 7:39Speaker 1: you just don't want to look like a doufist man.
- 7:41Speaker 1: You don't want you want to have them at least
- 7:42Speaker 1: be like what's up man? When they see you next time.
- 7:46Speaker 3: It's uh, yeah, for sure.
- 7:47Speaker 1: It's a weird amount of like self pressure totally.
- 7:50Speaker 2: And you know, Schneider did a good job set me up,
- 7:53Speaker 2: and also he he was so pumped forward that it
- 7:56Speaker 2: didn't really make me feel nervous about what was happening.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't know.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's definitely one of those things where you go you
- 8:05Speaker 2: have to just like prepare, you know.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I was.
- 8:08Speaker 2: When I can tell that I'm nervous for something, it's
- 8:10Speaker 2: because I'm not as prepared as I should be or
- 8:12Speaker 2: want to be. So I definitely lost sleep for a
- 8:14Speaker 2: few nights, staying up, just reorganizing jokes, rewriting stuff, you know,
- 8:18Speaker 2: memorizing a lot more than I had planned on, because
- 8:21Speaker 2: I didn't want to just be reading from a paper
- 8:24Speaker 2: and even just the way into it, I thought about,
- 8:27Speaker 2: you know, doing it as doctor Phill this time, but
- 8:28Speaker 2: that might be a next time thing, but or even
- 8:32Speaker 2: like an old coach, you know, doing some character.
- 8:35Speaker 3: But it was cool just to do it as my
- 8:36Speaker 3: as myself.
- 8:37Speaker 2: And you know, that's there is such a tough thing
- 8:40Speaker 2: with you see it on the SP's all the time
- 8:42Speaker 2: when they cut to athletes. You know, athletes are still people.
- 8:45Speaker 2: They have a sense of humor like everybody, but you're right,
- 8:47Speaker 2: there is a level of seriousness that they just they're
- 8:51Speaker 2: in such like you know, go mode and kill mode
- 8:54Speaker 2: all the time that like you have to catch them
- 8:56Speaker 2: in these moments when they do have their guard down
- 8:58Speaker 2: a little bit to be able to laugh at not
- 9:00Speaker 2: only life but themselves. And uh and some guys just can't.
- 9:03Speaker 2: But like again, it's always the same thing. Why I
- 9:06Speaker 2: never try to point my finger at a crowd and
- 9:08Speaker 2: be like it's you know, it's it's what a crowd.
- 9:11Speaker 3: It's like dude, they're there, you know, so they want
- 9:14Speaker 3: to laugh.
- 9:14Speaker 2: And even in a situation like that, even though they're
- 9:16Speaker 2: not coming out to it's like, you know, the meeting
- 9:18Speaker 2: was the meeting, and I was a surprise.
- 9:20Speaker 3: They didn't know that I was going to be there.
- 9:21Speaker 2: But you got to just you know, be prepped, trust
- 9:23Speaker 2: yourself and just you know, throw hail Mary's on first
- 9:27Speaker 2: down because like you uh, there's it's it's go bigger,
- 9:30Speaker 2: go home with that stuff because you'd rather, like you know,
- 9:33Speaker 2: have them not like what you think is funny, yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 2: but like not go all the way. And then and
- 9:39Speaker 2: then they be like, dude, this guy didn't even go
- 9:41Speaker 2: for it. Like more often than not, I realized in
- 9:43Speaker 2: these situations they want you to do that and they're
- 9:45Speaker 2: bummed if you didn't because they're like, oh, I thought.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I thought we were getting the real guy here.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, totally. I mean even when the when.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Hugson and and Uh and Donald and a handful of
- 9:56Speaker 2: your guys's Lineman's and Johnny Muttin and everybody came out
- 9:59Speaker 2: to h my shows at act me like, you know,
- 10:01Speaker 2: I was hitting the bikes for a little bit too,
- 10:03Speaker 2: and making fun of Donald and.
- 10:04Speaker 3: And and they were all loved it.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And it was like, yeah, I wasn't gonna not like
- 10:08Speaker 2: I wasn't gonna give them a shout out that they
- 10:10Speaker 2: were there and you know, put them on blast, but like,
- 10:13Speaker 2: just let them know that I knew that, you know
- 10:14Speaker 2: that I was pumped that they were there.
- 10:15Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I think you know, you said something
- 10:18Speaker 1: really interesting. I think the difference between the celebrity that
- 10:22Speaker 1: is an athlete and the celebrity that is an actor,
- 10:25Speaker 1: you know, a community, these other things, like it's such
- 10:27Speaker 1: a definable good versus bad where like you're in a movie,
- 10:32Speaker 1: right and or somebody comes to see Doctor Phil live.
- 10:35Speaker 1: There's no points, there's no like somebody can have an
- 10:37Speaker 1: opinion one way or another, but you can't definitively say
- 10:41Speaker 1: somebody sucks or is amazing. And sports is so defined
- 10:45Speaker 1: by a win and a loss and a score. Yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 1: but it's probably a lot harder to not take stuff
- 10:51Speaker 1: about you seriously when you can't argue back, like you
- 10:54Speaker 1: just don't like my art, bro.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's a great point.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, we we definitely, we definitely have a
- 11:03Speaker 3: I guess.
- 11:03Speaker 2: An easier you know, once you can swallow that it's
- 11:07Speaker 2: all subjective pill it's a healthier way to live.
- 11:09Speaker 3: But you're right, like sports, it's just like stats.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Like wins, money kind of dictates, it dictates how how
- 11:17Speaker 2: successful you are. Right everybody reacts now every yeah and
- 11:19Speaker 2: what job you get and what job you don't get?
- 11:21Speaker 3: And I mean, let me ask.
- 11:24Speaker 2: You this, uh Sam, when I was in UH Minnesota
- 11:28Speaker 2: in September, and you know, he was maybe two games
- 11:31Speaker 2: that you guys were maybe three and oh or or
- 11:33Speaker 2: four to oh, and you were definitely rolling.
- 11:37Speaker 3: And but it was so early that he was like,
- 11:39Speaker 3: you know, look.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I you know, we we we we love it here
- 11:42Speaker 2: and you know, we we don't know. Everyone's telling me
- 11:45Speaker 2: to brave for the winner, and we don't know what
- 11:47Speaker 2: we're getting ourselves into.
- 11:48Speaker 3: But but he's like, you know, it's great, We're clicking.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Jefferson's one of the best, you know, guys I've ever
- 11:53Speaker 2: played with, and kept saying how he got his PhD
- 11:55Speaker 2: in football at San fran and just really, you know,
- 11:58Speaker 2: grew up and matured and learned that.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Like because I.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Was like, I keep hearing this on uh in the media,
- 12:03Speaker 2: but like when you hear from a source and he's like, well, dude,
- 12:05Speaker 2: I just like got to a place was like, oh,
- 12:06Speaker 2: I don't have to like force things, and like it's
- 12:09Speaker 2: okay to like eat the ball or throw it away
- 12:11Speaker 2: and like get it on the next one. He's like,
- 12:13Speaker 2: but everybody, you feel so much pressure to like make
- 12:16Speaker 2: something happen on every play. And he's like, once I
- 12:18Speaker 2: kind of like subscribe to that. It's kind of calmed
- 12:20Speaker 2: him down. And and and you know, obviously like faith
- 12:24Speaker 2: and trust to be able to sit in the pocket
- 12:25Speaker 2: like that goes a long way. But he was like, uh, yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 2: we'll see. He's like, I gotta keep balling out and
- 12:30Speaker 2: they got to want to like keep me. So I
- 12:32Speaker 2: can't imagine the conversation over there is anything but how
- 12:37Speaker 2: much and how long? Because like and you know, it's
- 12:39Speaker 2: not like you have to get rid of McCarthy, but
- 12:41Speaker 2: unless you want to trade him to my Seahawks, but
- 12:43Speaker 2: like you definitely like I can't. If you guys didn't
- 12:48Speaker 2: resign Sam, I would I would. I think I would
- 12:50Speaker 2: think the fan base would be like, what the are
- 12:53Speaker 2: we doing?
- 12:53Speaker 3: What?
- 12:54Speaker 4: What?
- 12:54Speaker 3: What's the move here?
- 12:55Speaker 1: It's really interesting because I mean he has an outrageous
- 13:00Speaker 1: universal like approval rating here and as he should, and
- 13:03Speaker 1: it's been so so fun to watch him play. I remember,
- 13:07Speaker 1: you know you're talking September. I remember being at camp
- 13:11Speaker 1: this summer, and this is before it's open to the public,
- 13:13Speaker 1: before it's open to really media. They're just going through stuff.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And you know, I've been lucky enough to be there
- 13:19Speaker 1: a lot, and this is this is no slight on
- 13:22Speaker 1: anybody or even any commentary on anything. His presence was
- 13:28Speaker 1: one of, Oh, this is just a dude. This is
- 13:30Speaker 1: just a dude who, like I'm I mean, unassuming in
- 13:33Speaker 1: the best way, right confident, but just like you could
- 13:38Speaker 1: he'd walk he could walk by you in a hallway
- 13:40Speaker 1: with a couple of players and it wouldn't like switch
- 13:43Speaker 1: the room, you know what I'm saying. He was just there.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You could you could tell he came in really excited
- 13:49Speaker 1: off of San Francisco to be in a situation with
- 13:52Speaker 1: koc Here. It's almost amazing to think it's the same
- 13:56Speaker 1: a similar offense as the last couple of years, because
- 13:59Speaker 1: when you see this dude's arm and the way like
- 14:01Speaker 1: when he's really feeling it, like I don't know how
- 14:04Speaker 1: many guys make that throw, and so to have it
- 14:06Speaker 1: be that, dude, compared to the Chase, you know, the
- 14:09Speaker 1: feeling ghost guy from New York, it's as somebody who
- 14:13Speaker 1: loves a comeback and like a vindication story. Dude, it's
- 14:17Speaker 1: so cool. I can't imagine there's a guy in the NFL.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And I'm biased, but that that has a better root
- 14:23Speaker 1: for him factor.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, yeah he. I mean he also just is doubted.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I mean I tried to get him to go to
- 14:29Speaker 2: the show on that Friday night before you guys were
- 14:32Speaker 2: in Green Bay and and and he was like, dude,
- 14:35Speaker 2: I gotta be asleep by nine because we got this
- 14:37Speaker 2: in the morning. And I was just like, dude, get
- 14:39Speaker 2: after it, man. I mean, he just was like, I'm down.
- 14:42Speaker 2: He was showing us plays and he read a few
- 14:46Speaker 2: and they made no sense. I mean, he read one
- 14:48Speaker 2: play that he would read in the huddle and it
- 14:50Speaker 2: was like, you know, you know QX five, you know
- 14:54Speaker 2: q it on, you know Panera times five, you know
- 14:59Speaker 2: you know Baron Trump, you know bar Mitzvah sidekick Break.
- 15:03Speaker 2: And I was like, dude, there's no way I could
- 15:06Speaker 2: remember any of that. And he said it's so articulately
- 15:09Speaker 2: and casually and I was like, man, this like, but
- 15:12Speaker 2: I guess it's like, you know, it's a comedy. Like
- 15:14Speaker 2: he's probably like, how do you memorize your jokes? How
- 15:16Speaker 2: do you write an act, how do you whatever? But
- 15:19Speaker 2: and I said this the other day. I did these
- 15:21Speaker 2: two shows in San Jose at the Improv and I'd
- 15:24Speaker 2: found this picture of when I first headlined there when
- 15:26Speaker 2: I was two years in in two thousand and nine,
- 15:28Speaker 2: and you know, barely sold any tickets, and now went
- 15:31Speaker 2: back fifteen years later and sold out two shows on
- 15:32Speaker 2: a Wednesdays, you know, a thousand peeps. And it was
- 15:35Speaker 2: cool to kind of have that contrast. And and I
- 15:39Speaker 2: just kind of put in the caps. I was like, dude,
- 15:40Speaker 2: it happens. When it happens, just don't stop. And a
- 15:43Speaker 2: buddy hit me up and was like, dude, this is
- 15:44Speaker 2: my new favorite quote. And I was like, yeah, I
- 15:47Speaker 2: didn't want to get too sentimental or douchey with the post,
- 15:49Speaker 2: but I didn't want to comment.
- 15:50Speaker 3: I'm like, you know, it's on that kind of a
- 15:54Speaker 3: look back.
- 15:55Speaker 2: And Sam is a great example of that, where it's like, dude,
- 15:58Speaker 2: the system that he was in the last few years
- 16:01Speaker 2: in different spots were just like there's so many factors,
- 16:03Speaker 2: especially in sports too, that need to like line up
- 16:06Speaker 2: for you to be successful, and like you can control
- 16:09Speaker 2: what you can control, but there's just so many other
- 16:12Speaker 2: outlying variables and it's just awesome that you guys have
- 16:17Speaker 2: so many, you know, every positions covered.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Your fan base is wild.
- 16:21Speaker 2: You're like foaming at the mouth, you know, for for
- 16:25Speaker 2: something great, just so you can forget about Blair Walsh
- 16:27Speaker 2: and like you just like eat something. Yeah, I mean
- 16:31Speaker 2: that you want to talk about Seahawks Viking matchup.
- 16:34Speaker 3: I was in Saint Louis at a bar.
- 16:36Speaker 2: And h and when and I was like, oh, dude,
- 16:38Speaker 2: well this you know, this isn't our year man, Like
- 16:41Speaker 2: you know, I think that was twenty fifteen, right, So
- 16:43Speaker 2: after our Super Bowl loss, we were going back and
- 16:45Speaker 2: I was like we were a wild card and then
- 16:48Speaker 2: uh Man and then we signed him the next year,
- 16:51Speaker 2: which is like going to a strip club and the
- 16:54Speaker 2: stripper gives you ganarrhea and herpies and you go back
- 16:56Speaker 2: the next night and you're like, I think I'm in
- 16:58Speaker 2: love with you.
- 16:58Speaker 3: It's like, what do you do?
- 17:02Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, the Seahawks are are looking good. We need
- 17:06Speaker 2: this w Sunday. I didn't realize how much I was
- 17:10Speaker 2: into football until most fans looked at this year as like,
- 17:14Speaker 2: all right, we're hitting the reset button.
- 17:16Speaker 3: We already rebuild mode, and just like Pete Carroll's.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Done every year, we just find a way to stay
- 17:21Speaker 2: competitive and stay active and be like, you know, a disruptor,
- 17:25Speaker 2: and winning four in a row is huge. Losing last
- 17:29Speaker 2: week sucked, clearly, but this is the rebound game and
- 17:35Speaker 2: I do not want it to come down to ram
- 17:37Speaker 2: Seahawks in LA because McVeigh scares me. I think he's on.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I think he likes you four locos in the shower
- 17:45Speaker 2: before he goes out. He definitely looks like a kid
- 17:48Speaker 2: that like cheated at at at Twister. He definitely was
- 17:51Speaker 2: a kid that held the gun up to the TV
- 17:53Speaker 2: when he played duck Hunt and then bragged about how many.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Bathes he got. He also looks like he charges you
- 17:58Speaker 3: money to eat candy at his house.
- 18:00Speaker 2: He also looks like he like I don't know, he
- 18:03Speaker 2: looks like a strip club DJ and grand theft auto.
- 18:06Speaker 2: He just he's got a I don't know, like his beard.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I don't like his bulgy eyes. He's he looks like
- 18:11Speaker 2: a karate dojo that brags about setting the record for
- 18:14Speaker 2: most boards broken in a grocery.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Store parking lot.
- 18:17Speaker 2: He just everything about Sean McVay sucks, and I hope
- 18:19Speaker 2: the Rams fall apart. Now that being said, I do
- 18:22Speaker 2: root for your Vikings, not only because Darnold's a homeboy
- 18:25Speaker 2: mine homeboy.
- 18:26Speaker 3: That's the first time I've said that.
- 18:27Speaker 1: No, I think that really that really worked.
- 18:30Speaker 3: I want want to say home meet or that's my boy,
- 18:32Speaker 3: and I said homeboy.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Homeboy actually probably would have worked better than both those.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I actually felt like it landed, all right.
- 18:37Speaker 2: It's all, it's all. It's you know, you got to
- 18:39Speaker 2: say stuff like you mean. It gotta have conviction. You
- 18:41Speaker 2: act like you've been there before. You know, like, I'm
- 18:43Speaker 2: sure the first time you went to a Vikes game,
- 18:45Speaker 2: you know, you weren't as comfy as you are now, right,
- 18:47Speaker 2: people weren't as familiar with you.
- 18:48Speaker 3: You're walking in, They're like, dude, Dahmer has a brother, Right.
- 18:51Speaker 1: There's zero percent they still don't want me in there.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I'm convinced.
- 18:54Speaker 3: What is have you?
- 18:56Speaker 2: What's your I guess favorite Viking experience? That again, you
- 19:01Speaker 2: have a flashback to each time.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I've told this on this show before, but I've never
- 19:07Speaker 1: told it to you. So they we got to I
- 19:10Speaker 1: was on the sidelines for a game, and I didn't
- 19:12Speaker 1: grow up going to games man. We grew up rural.
- 19:14Speaker 1: We didn't travel to the cities, we didn't go to anything.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So this is I'm like, gee, golly, pa, like big
- 19:20Speaker 1: old wow. So and it's the Brett Favre and uh,
- 19:26Speaker 1: he's like backing up as he's doing warm ups. And
- 19:28Speaker 1: we were with somebody who was important in the organization
- 19:31Speaker 1: and a family member who knew that somebody whatever, whatever, whatever,
- 19:34Speaker 1: and we got introduced to Farv and I just sure,
- 19:40Speaker 1: I just said the word gun slinger to him, and
- 19:42Speaker 1: that's it. The only thing I said to him. Should
- 19:45Speaker 1: have been banned from the Twin Cities at that point. Hey,
- 19:47Speaker 1: there's a there's a straggly sociopath saying the word gun
- 19:51Speaker 1: slinger to our most important player. You want to get him,
- 19:54Speaker 1: you want to put him in Wisconsin for a month.
- 19:56Speaker 1: So yeah, that's probably my roughest moment.
- 19:59Speaker 3: You can't Bret Farv. The guy is rock solid.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I think he's you know, he's done more, you know,
- 20:09Speaker 2: for he's done more for the game of football and uh, yeah, dude,
- 20:14Speaker 2: what a gun?
- 20:15Speaker 3: Gunslinger was the right term?
- 20:16Speaker 1: Doing it was the right term. It just didn't land well.
- 20:18Speaker 1: It was the right term. I just didn't where you
- 20:21Speaker 1: just said homeboy, You're like, this is a word I use.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I said it like somebody whispered it in my ear
- 20:26Speaker 1: and told me it was the right thing to say
- 20:28Speaker 1: to him.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Let's go. You know, I met your, I met your
- 20:33Speaker 3: is a PA announcer.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I believe in Paul Allen.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Is that his name?
- 20:37Speaker 1: Yep?
- 20:38Speaker 3: Voice of Voice of God yep.
- 20:40Speaker 1: And coolest voice in the league yep.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Yeah dude, he Uh.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I was doing this podcast with Mark Sanchez, uh, Fox
- 20:49Speaker 2: analyst former Jets, Eagles Brogos QB.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Mark and I both went to ask see like Sam
- 20:55Speaker 3: and uh.
- 20:55Speaker 2: We interviewed Sam on the podcast That's how I became
- 20:58Speaker 2: homeboys with him years ago, and Mark and I went
- 21:02Speaker 2: to do the show.
- 21:03Speaker 3: At the Super Bowl and the Pro Bowl.
- 21:05Speaker 2: We had on Jason Kelce pre uh late night talk
- 21:07Speaker 2: show and fandom and and just you know, Miles Teller
- 21:11Speaker 2: before Top Gun and just we're hitting everybody. It was
- 21:13Speaker 2: gonna be a great thing. And then Showtime Sports eventually
- 21:16Speaker 2: was like you know, we don't want any comedy.
- 21:17Speaker 3: We just want the x's and nose, which just sucked
- 21:19Speaker 3: the fun out of it.
- 21:20Speaker 1: That's something that aged poorly as a decision. By the way,
- 21:23Speaker 1: bro we we we did.
- 21:24Speaker 2: We would make bets every week and one of them
- 21:26Speaker 2: I got to get had to get my chest waxed
- 21:28Speaker 2: in Orlando at the Pro Bowl, and it was just
- 21:30Speaker 2: it was just fun, man and Marks such a silly
- 21:33Speaker 2: uh goof but like just with an amazing football IQ
- 21:37Speaker 2: and so and so we were down in Orlando and
- 21:42Speaker 2: I met Paul at a bar and he made a
- 21:44Speaker 2: video for me for Nick Swartzon, who's a Minnesota boy
- 21:46Speaker 2: and he likes and uh dude, he just I remember
- 21:50Speaker 2: being so in awe because I'm gonna be a baseball
- 21:52Speaker 2: broadcast when I was a kid, and and so just
- 21:55Speaker 2: to hear people with like voices like that. And then
- 21:57Speaker 2: he did a bunch of like calls and stuff and
- 21:59Speaker 2: and and I should hit them up because you know,
- 22:02Speaker 2: this was I don't know if this was twenty six seventeen,
- 22:07Speaker 2: maybe twenty eighteen, and so like, definitely, you guys have
- 22:10Speaker 2: been competitive forever, but that was definitely the Cousins era.
- 22:14Speaker 1: But as it was starting, Yeah, I.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Mean, is there a is there something with the fans
- 22:20Speaker 2: where you know, I always ask people this when you
- 22:24Speaker 2: get close and don't make it, would.
- 22:26Speaker 3: You rather that? Or like not even have that?
- 22:29Speaker 2: Because like for the Niners, it's like, dude, they've lost
- 22:32Speaker 2: what three out of the last six Super Bowls or whatever,
- 22:35Speaker 2: and it's like, would you rather get there.
- 22:38Speaker 3: And have that happen or not even get there?
- 22:40Speaker 2: And as a fan, like for the Seahawks, we've gone
- 22:42Speaker 2: I think we went ten years in a row to
- 22:44Speaker 2: the playoffs with Russ after the Super Bowls and it
- 22:47Speaker 2: was awesome because every Sunday mattered, And that's all I
- 22:49Speaker 2: asked for as a fan, is like to be in
- 22:52Speaker 2: a place to where like you can watch the games
- 22:54Speaker 2: and actually get a little emotionally invested, which is tricky
- 22:58Speaker 2: for fans. I remember and the Seahawks won the first
- 23:00Speaker 2: Super Bowl in twenty thirteen, and I went with my
- 23:03Speaker 2: boy Brad Williams, who's a dire Broncos fan.
- 23:05Speaker 3: He's also a Dwarf, and.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Were sitting there and it was like fifteen nothing and
- 23:09Speaker 2: then Percy Harvin ran back to kick off to start
- 23:11Speaker 2: the second half. Brad looks down I take a picture
- 23:13Speaker 2: he was about to cry, and he goes, you might
- 23:15Speaker 2: not want to post that. If a Dwarf cries at
- 23:17Speaker 2: the super Bowl and it's public, it's seven years bad luck.
- 23:19Speaker 3: And I was like, so.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Funny, And I forgot how emotionally invested you get into
- 23:24Speaker 2: your team as a fan to where I was like
- 23:27Speaker 2: accepting partial responsibility.
- 23:28Speaker 3: People were like, dude, congrats in the super Bowl, congrats.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I had no problem accepting partial like response, I was like, dude,
- 23:34Speaker 2: thank you. In those fifteen beers, I had a half
- 23:36Speaker 2: I think gave Marshawn the extra boost he needed. But
- 23:39Speaker 2: you guys probably have that same delusion where you're like,
- 23:42Speaker 2: we are a reason the team stays consistent.
- 23:47Speaker 3: But I also think that there's a lot of truth
- 23:50Speaker 3: to that. You know.
- 23:50Speaker 1: To go back to your original question, which would I
- 23:52Speaker 1: rather have? I think I'd rather be close because I'm
- 23:55Speaker 1: like you, I like to be invested in something you know,
- 23:58Speaker 1: because otherwise you get apathetic. But I also think the
- 24:02Speaker 1: secondary answer to that, which is something that you have,
- 24:04Speaker 1: it's something that I have. It's not something that you know.
- 24:09Speaker 1: It's something I lost. We didn't have with the North Stars,
- 24:11Speaker 1: and you didn't have with the Sonics. Is ownership that
- 24:15Speaker 1: cares about the community and winning. Yeah right, that's all
- 24:18Speaker 1: that sports is. And so I think more than getting close,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I think having like an ownership group that actually is
- 24:27Speaker 1: invested in winning a title and building in the community
- 24:30Speaker 1: in a way. Because you hear that with the Seahawks,
- 24:32Speaker 1: people like to go be a part of that organization.
- 24:34Speaker 1: They really like the way people talk about the Vikings organization.
- 24:38Speaker 1: That to me is the big deal and the thing
- 24:42Speaker 1: that allows you to reinvest because you're like, well, at
- 24:45Speaker 1: some point, at some point, it has to work out.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Now you here's my question back to you, because you
- 24:53Speaker 1: won that Super Bowl and then all of a sudden,
- 24:55Speaker 1: it's like you guys entered into this almost new era.
- 24:57Speaker 1: We're like, well, they're kind of just one of the
- 25:00Speaker 1: franchises that they might have to rebuild, but they'll be back.
- 25:03Speaker 1: You're just expected to be there. I mean, where were
- 25:06Speaker 1: you at before that in that same regard, because it
- 25:09Speaker 1: was just years of misery with one hassleback miss like
- 25:13Speaker 1: you were us with less of a long history before
- 25:17Speaker 1: that Super Bowl.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you you know, when you don't have
- 25:23Speaker 2: a winning history. That super Bowl in twenty five against
- 25:28Speaker 2: the Steelers. That was clearly rigged for Jerome Bettis to
- 25:32Speaker 2: walk off into the sunset. And even my Steeler fans
- 25:35Speaker 2: know that and will admit it slightly, But I mean
- 25:39Speaker 2: that was nobody cared about the Seahawks. We were small
- 25:42Speaker 2: markets still our small market team, but it's the one
- 25:45Speaker 2: sport where we have made more of a.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Splash in the zeitgeist, but at least for the Northwest.
- 25:51Speaker 2: But yeah, it was a weird time because you're such
- 25:55Speaker 2: a you're such a die hard fan, but you're also
- 25:59Speaker 2: so aware of like, we're just not there.
- 26:01Speaker 3: We have a lot of holes on the team.
- 26:03Speaker 2: And and then we get home Grin and Hasselback was
- 26:06Speaker 2: actually a gangster, and then sewn Sander wins MVP and
- 26:10Speaker 2: then gets on the Madden cover and then gets the
- 26:12Speaker 2: Madden curse, and then you know we had some you know,
- 26:14Speaker 2: great receivers and and then you.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Know it just it.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Uh.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Getting Marshawn was like a big deal. I don't think
- 26:25Speaker 2: it was like a huge signing, but it was a big.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It's like a back to the future timeline shift getting him.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, And honestly that happened under the Pete John regime.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Which you know, I went to USC one to five
- 26:39Speaker 2: for acting school, and Pete was our coach at that time.
- 26:42Speaker 3: There was a thirty for thirty called Trojan War.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Which is basically about that time at USC, which is
- 26:46Speaker 2: just insane.
- 26:48Speaker 3: And and so.
- 26:49Speaker 2: I felt like Pete was like almost like a secondary father,
- 26:51Speaker 2: and because my left when I was young.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Thanks for bringing it up.
- 26:54Speaker 2: I really felt like attached because he was with us
- 26:57Speaker 2: for seventeen fourteen and Seattle and then you know what
- 27:00Speaker 2: three or four in SC and it was just a
- 27:05Speaker 2: really unique thing to be attached to somebody like that
- 27:07Speaker 2: sports wise, where you have so much emotional attachment and investment.
- 27:12Speaker 2: And I was so pumped when he got there and
- 27:13Speaker 2: so bumped when he left. But he really, like, man,
- 27:17Speaker 2: it was so fun. I would I would listen to
- 27:19Speaker 2: I never listened to postgame conferences, but I'd watch Pete.
- 27:23Speaker 3: All the time because he had this really.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Powerful, commanding, calm way of talking and so smart, and
- 27:30Speaker 2: so he loved it so much and loved the guys,
- 27:32Speaker 2: and you know, ultimately it got to a point to
- 27:34Speaker 2: where I just don't think, you know, his what he
- 27:37Speaker 2: was doing was was resonating anymore, is what it sounded
- 27:40Speaker 2: like and people maybe weren't fighting to play for him
- 27:42Speaker 2: the way that they were when he first got there.
- 27:44Speaker 2: But man, did he I mean, you know, Schneider talks
- 27:48Speaker 2: about all the time. He's like he was just a
- 27:50Speaker 2: he changed the way that you know, everybody was looking
- 27:53Speaker 2: at the game and the whole culture and the practices
- 27:56Speaker 2: were on fire, and like people were you know getting
- 28:00Speaker 2: you know, just getting that defense, you know, grabbing a
- 28:03Speaker 2: lot of guys that had chips on their shoulders and
- 28:05Speaker 2: were you know, overlooked by so many teams, and then
- 28:10Speaker 2: just creating an environment where people could truly be themselves.
- 28:13Speaker 2: And I think Pete really shined like that, and almost
- 28:17Speaker 2: the same way Billy Bean with baseball and the whole
- 28:19Speaker 2: moneyball stuff kind of trickled down to other.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Teams participating in that outlook.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Pete was a real goat with that. But Seattle people
- 28:27Speaker 2: are now so you live and die. We also are
- 28:31Speaker 2: just you know, craving a super Bowl that will wash
- 28:37Speaker 2: away twenty fourteen, and that will that Every year that
- 28:42Speaker 2: goes by, we get a little bit more removed from
- 28:45Speaker 2: it emotionally and physically.
- 28:47Speaker 3: But wow, dude, I'll.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Never I'll never forget where I was when that happened,
- 28:56Speaker 2: or where I was when I was my coach. I
- 29:00Speaker 2: was a fact kid play basketball going to my coach
- 29:02Speaker 2: called me Krispy Kreme out George Jabar And I'll never
- 29:05Speaker 2: forget that either.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Two moments. Yeah, Pete Carroll, he's a Vikings alumni. We
- 29:12Speaker 1: love him here in Minnesota. And I think people you said,
- 29:15Speaker 1: you know, like his message wore out. I think it's
- 29:18Speaker 1: like kind of one of those things, like great bands,
- 29:20Speaker 1: you like, unless you are literally the band right or
- 29:23Speaker 1: the Rolling Stones or one of these things, is somehow
- 29:26Speaker 1: escape that thing that puts a cap on your time period.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Like I think it's almost weird if you make it
- 29:35Speaker 1: that long and you're relating to like how many coaches
- 29:38Speaker 1: in the history of the NFL can say they captured
- 29:41Speaker 1: a period of time with a generation of players and
- 29:45Speaker 1: did like because you guys didn't just win a Super Bowl.
- 29:47Speaker 1: And I think the travesty in that loss is that
- 29:51Speaker 1: had you And this is how I feel about the
- 29:52Speaker 1: ninety eight Vikings, Like, had they ninety eight Vikings one,
- 29:56Speaker 1: we're sitting here talking about them as one of probably
- 29:58Speaker 1: the greatest teams of the last fiffty years. Had you
- 30:01Speaker 1: guys won that second Super Bowl, the term legion of
- 30:04Speaker 1: boom would be sitting right next to eighty five bears.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And not that it's not really highly regarded, but it's
- 30:10Speaker 1: just histories, narratives are defined by these little twists and turns,
- 30:14Speaker 1: and so to have presided over that in a way
- 30:18Speaker 1: where he changed the culture built it. He and Schneider
- 30:21Speaker 1: all that. That's like, good lord, you did that. Of course,
- 30:24Speaker 1: I mean at some point you don't relate. That's kind
- 30:27Speaker 1: of that's I think it's almost unrealistic to do anything
- 30:29Speaker 1: other if you were that successful. It's like Phil Jackson
- 30:31Speaker 1: GMing in New York, like, of course you're gonna suck
- 30:34Speaker 1: at that.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Dude, right right, Yeah, it's it's a pretty rare thing,
- 30:39Speaker 2: I think, to be as successful in a sport in
- 30:43Speaker 2: one spot like he was.
- 30:45Speaker 3: And you know, true Testament a testament or testament A
- 30:49Speaker 3: true Testament?
- 30:50Speaker 1: Let's go, first Testament?
- 30:52Speaker 3: Why do I say? Why do I say a Testament?
- 30:54Speaker 1: The New Testament? The Old Testament?
- 30:56Speaker 2: But I sometimes they'll say it when I go, I
- 30:57Speaker 2: don't think I've said that for like fifteen years, so
- 31:00Speaker 2: my mouth doesn't even know what to do.
- 31:03Speaker 3: What's your favorite not to get all James lifted on you,
- 31:05Speaker 3: But what's your favorite word?
- 31:07Speaker 1: Well, first of all, I think that is just a
- 31:09Speaker 1: testament to you, homeboy, and I think mine is juxtaposition.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I use that as though I know what it means,
- 31:16Speaker 1: and I use it all what it means. No, it'll
- 31:18Speaker 1: be in my divorce papers. She'd be like his. His
- 31:22Speaker 1: use of juxtaposition pushed me to this place.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's so funny. I'm a big I
- 31:28Speaker 3: like behoove.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Oh, behoove it behooves you love, behoof.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Love A good behoove. Yeah, behooves you.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Like it would behoove to use an a sentence
- 31:37Speaker 2: spelling be style, it would behoove. The Minnesota Vikings front
- 31:41Speaker 2: office to resign Sammy Darnold to a ten year, four
- 31:45Speaker 2: hundred mil contract.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna I want to ask you how this game goes.
- 31:48Speaker 1: But the last thing I wanted to say on that
- 31:50Speaker 1: is I love. I mean, for somebody who didn't see it,
- 31:54Speaker 1: give everybody your socials really quick. What's your Instagram?
- 31:56Speaker 3: Oh?
- 31:56Speaker 2: Yeah, at Adam Ray Comedy on Instagram, TikTok Twitter all that.
- 32:01Speaker 2: My website is Adam Ray Coomedy dot com where we
- 32:03Speaker 2: can find all my stand up dates, all the Doctor
- 32:05Speaker 2: Phil Live dates, which we have twenty cities in twenty
- 32:08Speaker 2: twenty five.
- 32:09Speaker 3: We are hitting Minnesota March second at the Orpheum.
- 32:11Speaker 2: That shows booked up and it's gonna be fire and
- 32:16Speaker 2: of course the Doctor Phil Live Netflix special Doctor Phil Unleashed.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Check that out on Netflix.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Also check out the Roast of twenty twenty four with Me,
- 32:25Speaker 2: Jeff Ross, Sam marril Mark Norman, miss Pat, Tim Dillon,
- 32:28Speaker 2: and Hanner Berner.
- 32:29Speaker 3: That drops December twenty seventh.
- 32:30Speaker 4: I'm plagers Joe Joe Biden on that I'm doing Joe Bideney,
- 32:34Speaker 4: Andy Imer f Hey, remember was he one of the
- 32:36Speaker 4: original Vikings. I knew those guys. I know those guy
- 32:39Speaker 4: was best friends with the guy from the State Farm,
- 32:41Speaker 4: Crise the Capitol one of this, Serena Willia whoop the
- 32:43Speaker 4: gold Birds and we're going up downs left right selects
- 32:46Speaker 4: start Biden twenty eight.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Come on, we're gonna make groceres cheaper.
- 32:53Speaker 2: So that comes out of December twenty seventh. It's like
- 32:54Speaker 2: a recap of twenty twenty four.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Basically.
- 32:56Speaker 1: The other reason people need to go to your Instagram
- 33:00Speaker 1: is cause your homeboy Sam Darnold literally is wearing an
- 33:05Speaker 1: Adam Ray as Doctor Phil hooded sweatshirt on his way
- 33:09Speaker 1: to the Monday night whiteout game against Chicago Bears. I know,
- 33:13Speaker 1: like you get to this point where your career grows,
- 33:15Speaker 1: you get to do these cool things Steelers, it's still
- 33:17Speaker 1: gotta be a weird moment, like because they just become
- 33:20Speaker 1: your friends and stuff. You're like, hey, the starting NFL quarterback,
- 33:23Speaker 1: who's you know, weren't it not for Josh Allen is
- 33:26Speaker 1: probably the in the MVP conversation right now just has
- 33:29Speaker 1: my silly comedy hooded sweatshirt on that hat. That's such
- 33:33Speaker 1: a cool thing when you think about who you were
- 33:35Speaker 1: as a kid and where you are now.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Totally.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I am such a sports fan and
- 33:40Speaker 2: such a you know, it is cool to be you know,
- 33:44Speaker 2: to meet people that you look up to, and yeah,
- 33:46Speaker 2: you're right, I don't even.
- 33:49Speaker 3: I know how you know, well revered Sam.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Is but yeah, he's he's just a busted guy, so
- 33:56Speaker 2: I don't, you know, it's like I joke with him
- 33:58Speaker 2: the way I joke with guys have known for twenty
- 34:00Speaker 2: years and and but but I.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Definitely, yeah, it's it's cool. But it's also he's a
- 34:06Speaker 3: big comedy fan, so it's like, you know, it's he.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Had been following me for a little bit when we
- 34:10Speaker 2: first met, and so for him too, he takes ownership
- 34:13Speaker 2: and seeing me kind of you know, have a cool
- 34:17Speaker 2: last couple of years and just you know, have things
- 34:19Speaker 2: kind of elevate in a more fun direction. And uh
- 34:24Speaker 2: and yeah and so and I'm you know, almost like
- 34:26Speaker 2: a supportive mom the way I messaged him sometimes.
- 34:29Speaker 3: After certain things that he does. And yeah, that was
- 34:32Speaker 3: a sweet shout out and he was looking like a snack,
- 34:34Speaker 3: so that didn't hurt.
- 34:35Speaker 2: You know, got to show the people of Minnesota that,
- 34:38Speaker 2: you know, Aaron Rodgers isn't the only you know, guy
- 34:42Speaker 2: out there that's that you know, looks like you could
- 34:44Speaker 2: be Brad Pitt's cousin. But yeah, it's it's awesome man,
- 34:49Speaker 2: and the doctor Phil Merch is so fun and people
- 34:51Speaker 2: really eat it fun. Trying to get Sammy to to
- 34:55Speaker 2: stick around hopefully and pop by that Orpheum show. But
- 34:58Speaker 2: he might be back in the OC at point. But
- 35:01Speaker 2: but who knows, if you guys take care of business,
- 35:03Speaker 2: he might just you know, he might.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Just they might just have to pave cement over him
- 35:08Speaker 1: and turn him into a statue.
- 35:09Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying, Dude, put the statue down now
- 35:12Speaker 2: and let him know how much you care. Like that,
- 35:14Speaker 2: there's something to be said about the statue before you retire,
- 35:17Speaker 2: right while you're playing. It really speaks volumes as far
- 35:20Speaker 2: as how much you are committed to this guy long term.
- 35:23Speaker 1: If this team ever wins, because you guys have the
- 35:26Speaker 1: statue of Lynch with the diving into the end zone backwards, right,
- 35:30Speaker 1: isn't that the statue is there somewhere in Seattle.
- 35:33Speaker 3: That I don't think we have. I don't think I've
- 35:35Speaker 3: seen any statues.
- 35:36Speaker 2: We've got a Griffy and Egar Martinez statue outside of
- 35:39Speaker 2: T Mobile Park.
- 35:41Speaker 1: If the Vikings ever win a Super Bowl, and if
- 35:44Speaker 1: there's any sort of defining moment in that Super Bowl run,
- 35:48Speaker 1: the amount of like, I think there'll be a city
- 35:50Speaker 1: council moving like we're gonna do a lot of statues.
- 35:54Speaker 1: We're just gonna, you know, it'll look like when they
- 35:56Speaker 1: dig up like those terra Cotta warriors and an ancient civilization.
- 36:00Speaker 1: That's what Minneapolis will look like when somebody finds our
- 36:02Speaker 1: city fifty thousand years from now. Yeah, yeah, just a
- 36:06Speaker 1: bunch of Sam Darnold's just with their you know, just
- 36:09Speaker 1: with their their helmet in their hand all over the place.
- 36:12Speaker 3: Dude.
- 36:13Speaker 2: It's also cool that, you know, Sam obviously you know,
- 36:16Speaker 2: looks like he's not old enough to be in the uh,
- 36:18Speaker 2: you know stadium without his parents, so that.
- 36:20Speaker 3: I think growing the beard was a sweet move on
- 36:22Speaker 3: his part.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Everyone moved made him look like he's on Yellowstone or
- 36:26Speaker 2: or place to poker with, you know, with uh some
- 36:29Speaker 2: you know, shady guys from you know, like like like
- 36:33Speaker 2: he's friand like when you have a beard like that
- 36:35Speaker 2: and you still got like, you know, you know, a young,
- 36:37Speaker 2: affable vibe to you. It's definitely like he reminds me
- 36:41Speaker 2: of some of those kids that used to hang outside
- 36:43Speaker 2: like the AMPM in high school. But Sam's got this
- 36:46Speaker 2: clean cut, you know, California vibe too that I think
- 36:49Speaker 2: everyone's vibing with. And there is a laid back style
- 36:52Speaker 2: to him as a person that definitely I see translating
- 36:55Speaker 2: on the field.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Absolutely, he's in go mode. You guys are are lucky.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Well give me, I hate to do this to you,
- 37:02Speaker 1: but give me a prediction for the weekend.
- 37:03Speaker 3: So I'm captain positive.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I'm super optimistic about this weekend, even though I know,
- 37:10Speaker 2: you know are the pressures.
- 37:13Speaker 3: I think more on us. You guys are rolling. Confidence
- 37:17Speaker 3: is high. You know.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Sam got me sideline passes the last time he was
- 37:23Speaker 2: in lumen Field at Seattle when he was with the
- 37:26Speaker 2: Panthers and they came in and took care of business
- 37:28Speaker 2: and then circle two years ago.
- 37:30Speaker 3: I brought my eight year old nephew at the time,
- 37:32Speaker 3: who've never been to.
- 37:33Speaker 2: A Hawks game. Football is his favorite sport. He is
- 37:35Speaker 2: a little psycho. He doesn't have all the updates on
- 37:37Speaker 2: his hard drive. His favorite move now is to smack
- 37:39Speaker 2: me when I go home and go like and subscribe
- 37:42Speaker 2: and then run out of the room. Well, he giggles
- 37:44Speaker 2: to himself, and I asked my front of my stepdad.
- 37:46Speaker 2: He is just like a little noodnick as my mom says,
- 37:49Speaker 2: full of spitting vinegar. And I take him to his
- 37:52Speaker 2: first Seahawks game. He's so pumped. We get a hotel
- 37:56Speaker 2: down to the stadium. He's like, this is the greatest
- 37:58Speaker 2: hotel I've ever stayed in my entire life. I'm like, yeah,
- 38:00Speaker 2: I mean it's you know, it's a looking to their
- 38:01Speaker 2: you know, they they have them everywhere. There's there's blood
- 38:04Speaker 2: on your pillow, by the way, And so he's like,
- 38:06Speaker 2: I went the bed closest to the window and he's
- 38:08Speaker 2: so pumped to go, oh to get a view of
- 38:10Speaker 2: the city. He's like, no, because if somebody breaks in
- 38:12Speaker 2: to kill us, they'll get you first. It's like all right,
- 38:14Speaker 2: and you know, and and then we go to the
- 38:16Speaker 2: game and we're on the sidelines. Sam comes over and says,
- 38:19Speaker 2: what up all this? And then rips the game. It
- 38:21Speaker 2: just takes takes us, you know, into h l territory.
- 38:26Speaker 2: And at one point my nephew runs away to try
- 38:28Speaker 2: to catch a punt. There were practice punts going on
- 38:30Speaker 2: in these and it helped mine and it bounces off
- 38:33Speaker 2: his little hands and I was like, dude, you can't
- 38:35Speaker 2: break away from me like that. He's like, it was
- 38:36Speaker 2: going to hit a girl that was standing on the sidelines.
- 38:38Speaker 2: I was like, dude, you're spitting game and trying to
- 38:40Speaker 2: grab a souvenir. Like we we go back to the
- 38:46Speaker 2: gift shop. He went a little blitz our mascot stuffed animal.
- 38:50Speaker 2: We're driving back home. I go, dude, this was a
- 38:51Speaker 2: great day. Man, He's like, it's the greatest day of
- 38:53Speaker 2: my whole life.
- 38:53Speaker 3: I'm glad him. He's like, dude, I mean I never
- 38:55Speaker 3: get to hang with you enough.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I hang with your sisters, your twin sisters more because
- 38:59Speaker 2: they're older and and you know, usually don't smack me
- 39:01Speaker 2: in as much. And they're just you know, a little,
- 39:05Speaker 2: a little just cleaner as far as the give and take.
- 39:08Speaker 2: And he goes, yeah, and thanks for getting me blitzed
- 39:11Speaker 2: the stuff the animal. I go, sure, I go, I
- 39:12Speaker 2: guess what, every time you look at it, you can
- 39:14Speaker 2: remind yourself of how great today was.
- 39:15Speaker 3: And then he goes, yeah, maybe I'll give it to
- 39:17Speaker 3: my kids someday. And I was like, dude, so sweet.
- 39:19Speaker 2: And then a beat goes by it and he goes,
- 39:21Speaker 2: or I'll just die with him in my hands, and
- 39:22Speaker 2: I was like, ess, so your dad is a rapper,
- 39:27Speaker 2: so this makes sense.
- 39:29Speaker 3: His dad. My brother in law's name is Dirte, which
- 39:32Speaker 3: is you know, yeah, you're that's.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Definitely when your sister comes over and is like, my god,
- 39:37Speaker 2: you guys, I'm I met someone special. The next one'
- 39:40Speaker 2: out of your mouth usually are I hope it's a
- 39:41Speaker 2: semi locally famous rapper named Dirte, and I hope he
- 39:44Speaker 2: talks about opening for DMX once all the time. He
- 39:48Speaker 2: is a great guy, a huge Hawks fan as well.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Dirte's prediction would be Seahawks twenty six, Vikings twenty one.
- 39:57Speaker 3: I am going to go. It's gonna be a defensive battle.
- 40:01Speaker 3: I'm gonna go Seahawks. Man. Sammy is just on fire too, man,
- 40:06Speaker 3: he's he is, like you said, gun slinging. I'm gonna go. See.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I think we're gonna put up more points than you
- 40:12Speaker 2: guys anticipate. I think Gino's gonna come back with a vengeance.
- 40:15Speaker 2: I'm going Seahawks thirty, Vikings twenty seven.
- 40:18Speaker 1: You're the king, dude. This means a lot. Thank you
- 40:19Speaker 1: for doing the show anytime. Baby.
