- 0:00Speaker 1: Up everyone and welcome to the Epstein Chronicles. Yesterday marked
- 0:06Speaker 1: day one of the Ghislaine Maxwell trial and I have
- 0:10Speaker 1: to tell you I was caught a bit off guard.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting Larry Big Dog Vesoski to be put
- 0:19Speaker 1: on the stand right away like that. I figured there
- 0:22Speaker 1: would be some opening statements from both sides and then
- 0:25Speaker 1: we'd get into the meat and the potatoes a little
- 0:27Speaker 1: bit of the meat on the bone in the coming days.
- 0:32Speaker 1: But they got right to it yesterday. And Larry Vysotsky
- 0:37Speaker 1: is a major cog within the Epstein realm. He was
- 0:42Speaker 1: Epstein's pilot. He was flying all of these people all
- 0:47Speaker 1: over the world. And obviously, according to him, he'll tell
- 0:51Speaker 1: you that he didn't know who was on all of
- 0:54Speaker 1: those flights, especially the domestic ones. But You have to
- 0:59Speaker 1: think that the government believes that he has something to
- 1:02Speaker 1: add if they're calling him as their first witness. And
- 1:06Speaker 1: it also makes me wonder if he cuts some kind
- 1:09Speaker 1: of deal with the government. Now, again, there's zero evidence
- 1:15Speaker 1: that Larry Vesosky was ever going to be indicted or
- 1:19Speaker 1: anything like that. But it's pretty interesting that he's working
- 1:23Speaker 1: with the government here. I mean, we're talking about a
- 1:27Speaker 1: guy that Jeffrey Epstein gave a plot of land to
- 1:30Speaker 1: right over there in his own ranch down in Stanley.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And when I went down there to New Mexico, it
- 1:39Speaker 1: is almost hard to explain just how vast this property
- 1:43Speaker 1: is and just how desolate this property is. Jeffrey Epstein
- 1:50Speaker 1: set up a nice little home away from home down
- 1:53Speaker 1: there at Zorro Ranch and And the things he was
- 1:57Speaker 1: doing down there were very secretive, right? It wasn't something
- 2:00Speaker 1: that was well publicized. There was a reason he chose
- 2:04Speaker 1: that spot in New Mexico. I mean, obviously, one of
- 2:08Speaker 1: the reasons is the age of consent there. But there
- 2:11Speaker 1: were other reasons why Jeffrey Epstein chose New Mexico. And
- 2:17Speaker 1: the fact that he was able to get away with
- 2:21Speaker 1: the things he was able to get away with in
- 2:24Speaker 1: New Mexico... is just mind-boggling to me. But the point is,
- 2:29Speaker 1: you don't give somebody a big fat chunk of land
- 2:32Speaker 1: in a place that you're hoping to keep relatively private,
- 2:36Speaker 1: or at the very least under a shroud of secrecy,
- 2:40Speaker 1: a piece of land there, if you don't trust them.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So my question is, what enticed him to offer up
- 2:47Speaker 1: information for the government? Now again, I don't have any
- 2:53Speaker 1: a lead saying that he had a proffer agreement or
- 2:56Speaker 1: he was in any jeopardy of being indicted. But I
- 2:59Speaker 1: just find it interesting that he is talking with the
- 3:02Speaker 1: government now and not only just talking with the government, obviously,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but taking the stand as a government witness. Usually that
- 3:10Speaker 1: kind of thing doesn't just happen organically, right? The government is,
- 3:16Speaker 1: you know, they find ways to get people to do
- 3:19Speaker 1: what they want them to do. especially if you have
- 3:22Speaker 1: something that might be criminal hanging over your head. They
- 3:25Speaker 1: will definitely leverage that. They'll use it in their favor
- 3:29Speaker 1: and they'll get you moving in a direction that they
- 3:32Speaker 1: want you to move in. So the Larry Vesosky on
- 3:36Speaker 1: the stand, it's definitely very interesting. But as I ruminated
- 3:41Speaker 1: on it last night and I let it marinate, I
- 3:44Speaker 1: had some more questions, right? Like, did he get a
- 3:47Speaker 1: proffer agreement? Is he working with the government? because he
- 3:51Speaker 1: doesn't want to be charged himself? Or did they just
- 3:56Speaker 1: turn him as a witness? So it's going to be
- 4:00Speaker 1: very interesting to see all of the details, right? All
- 4:02Speaker 1: of the specifics as we move forward. And with something
- 4:06Speaker 1: like this, a trial, a case with just so much information,
- 4:11Speaker 1: it's going to be very fluid. Things are going to
- 4:13Speaker 1: happen quickly and things are going to happen on a
- 4:17Speaker 1: daily basis. Every single time that you have this jury impaneled,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and the trial going on, you're going to have significant
- 4:26Speaker 1: things coming out of those sessions. So, getting right off
- 4:32Speaker 1: to a jump with Larry Vysotsky as witness number one,
- 4:37Speaker 1: it just tells me that there's going to be some
- 4:39Speaker 1: more surprises coming down the old chute here. And I'm
- 4:44Speaker 1: very curious to see who else the government offers up
- 4:49Speaker 1: As witnesses. And on the flip side of that. I'm
- 4:52Speaker 1: wondering who the defense. Is going to pony up as
- 4:55Speaker 1: a witness. Besides their paid for specialists. Are they going
- 5:00Speaker 1: to have anyone show up. And you know. Polish. Ghislaine
- 5:06Speaker 1: Maxwell's reputation. Is anyone going to step into that box.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And say hey look. Ghislaine Maxwell is a good person.
- 5:13Speaker 1: She didn't do this. And I think that she's innocent. Now,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I haven't heard that they're going to have anybody up
- 5:20Speaker 1: there to do that, but you would think, right, if
- 5:23Speaker 1: you're the defense, one thing you want to do is
- 5:26Speaker 1: try to establish that your client has, you know, is
- 5:29Speaker 1: a person of character, is somebody who this is below
- 5:33Speaker 1: and somebody who would never engage in behavior like this.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And if your client is somebody like that, it stands
- 5:39Speaker 1: to reason that you'd be able to find a few
- 5:41Speaker 1: people that are willing to, you know, go on the
- 5:44Speaker 1: record and testify that she's a good person. Or that
- 5:48Speaker 1: she's somebody of upstanding character. So I'm interested to see
- 5:54Speaker 1: what sort of trick the Maxwell team pulls out of
- 5:58Speaker 1: their hat. When it comes to establishing her as a
- 6:01Speaker 1: credible person. Or somebody who should be believed. Because you
- 6:07Speaker 1: know that the prosecution is... They're coming hard. Obviously if
- 6:12Speaker 1: Vysotsky is the first witness. You gotta think that there's
- 6:15Speaker 1: gonna be a litany of people. trotting up to that
- 6:18Speaker 1: box that have damning statements about Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey
- 6:22Speaker 1: Epstein and the way they were conducting themselves. And who
- 6:27Speaker 1: better situated than the guy that was flying them all
- 6:31Speaker 1: around the world? Now, last night, I updated and I
- 6:37Speaker 1: uploaded an episode about the other pilot that was brought
- 6:40Speaker 1: up at this trial, David Rogers. You might want to
- 6:43Speaker 1: check that out as well. But with Larry Vesosky taking
- 6:46Speaker 1: the stand here, it's pretty significant. For those of us
- 6:49Speaker 1: who have been following the case especially, I was talking
- 6:53Speaker 1: with some of my colleagues who follow the case yesterday,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and it was pretty much a unanimous consensus that this
- 7:02Speaker 1: is probably going to lead us to even more explosive
- 7:06Speaker 1: witnesses hitting that stand. So I'm very interested to see
- 7:10Speaker 1: where things go today, and I'm interested to see what
- 7:13Speaker 1: sort of strategy the defense is going to use when
- 7:18Speaker 1: it comes to cross-examining Larry Vysotsky. We can definitely expect
- 7:26Speaker 1: more of Vysotsky today. And, you know, we'll see what
- 7:30Speaker 1: comes of it. But I think it's very, very interesting
- 7:33Speaker 1: that he was the first witness. And I think it's
- 7:36Speaker 1: going to be interesting to see how it all breaks
- 7:40Speaker 1: down from here. So... Today, what we're going to do
- 7:45Speaker 1: is we're going to take a look at some of
- 7:46Speaker 1: the headlines from overnight and, yeah, take a look at
- 7:51Speaker 1: what's going on. We have a headline over here from Slate,
- 7:56Speaker 1: and this is an article that was published by Seth Stevenson.
- 8:02Speaker 1: The headline, Glenn Maxwell's trial opens with her lawyer diving
- 8:06Speaker 1: straight into the muck. And he goes into what's going
- 8:10Speaker 1: on like outside of the courthouse and all of that jazz.
- 8:13Speaker 1: From the article, Outside the Thurgood Marshall Federal Courthouse in
- 8:17Speaker 1: Lower Manhattan this morning, the media throng assembled to cover
- 8:21Speaker 1: day one of the Ghislaine Maxwell trial. Print reporters, newsletter writers, podcasters,
- 8:27Speaker 1: and television crews coalesced into the strangely glamorous frenzy that
- 8:31Speaker 1: seems to accompany the launch of every high-profile criminal proceedings. Now,
- 8:37Speaker 1: the reason I bring this headline up is I talk
- 8:39Speaker 1: a lot about how it's Carnival Barker City right now.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And you're definitely seeing it out in front of the courthouse.
- 8:48Speaker 1: There are people of all stripes showing up and making
- 8:52Speaker 1: their voices heard. And you have a lot of misinformed
- 8:57Speaker 1: people as well. But one thing is very apparent to me.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And it is that there is a lot of anger
- 9:07Speaker 1: on both sides of the political fence. And it's not
- 9:11Speaker 1: very often that you see that. Now, of course, there
- 9:14Speaker 1: are the yahoos that are using this as a political
- 9:17Speaker 1: cudgel to beat their political opponents over the head. And
- 9:21Speaker 1: I'd be very cautious of any of these pundits that
- 9:25Speaker 1: are talking about this case from either side of the conversation.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I'd be very cautious about what sort of rhetoric they're
- 9:34Speaker 1: spinning towards you. Because this is much bigger than that.
- 9:38Speaker 1: This is so much bigger than Republican and Democrat. This
- 9:41Speaker 1: is so much bigger than left and right. You have
- 9:45Speaker 1: to understand that this was people at all levers of
- 9:48Speaker 1: power from both parties who were enabling this and facilitating
- 9:54Speaker 1: this for decades. So to try and penetrate... it on
- 10:00Speaker 1: one party or the other is a great disservice to
- 10:03Speaker 1: those who were actually abused by this scumbag. So while
- 10:08Speaker 1: the circus-like atmosphere is to be expected, I think that
- 10:12Speaker 1: it is one of the most gross ways to go
- 10:14Speaker 1: about things when you're using this as a political cudgel. Now,
- 10:18Speaker 1: of course, there's a political angle to it, right? Definitely.
- 10:21Speaker 1: A lot of the people involved had ties to politicians
- 10:24Speaker 1: or were politicians themselves. But it's very apparent when someone's
- 10:30Speaker 1: trying to harness this as a political weapon. And I
- 10:36Speaker 1: would just caution you to be very, very wary of that.
- 10:41Speaker 1: He goes on to say, I've seen it before. It
- 10:43Speaker 1: always starts this way. No matter the trial, when it
- 10:48Speaker 1: comes to a high-profile one, it's always going to have
- 10:52Speaker 1: a cast of characters, right? So, I just, it's one
- 10:56Speaker 1: of those things where I just, I witness and I
- 10:59Speaker 1: observe and shake my head. You know, you have like,
- 11:04Speaker 1: like he says here, when Michael Jackson's trial for child
- 11:07Speaker 1: sexual abuse charges was getting underway, the media revved up
- 11:11Speaker 1: to cover the bizarre tale of an eccentric global superstar.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And then the trial began and we met a dim,
- 11:18Speaker 1: lonely drunk who liked to show porno mags to little boys.
- 11:22Speaker 1: So I guess what he's trying to say here in
- 11:25Speaker 1: this article is the perception of what a trial is
- 11:29Speaker 1: going to be and then the reality of it are
- 11:32Speaker 1: usually two very, very different things. And I think we'll
- 11:36Speaker 1: see a lot of that in this case as well.
- 11:38Speaker 1: There are a lot of misinformed people when it comes
- 11:41Speaker 1: to the Jeffrey Epstein case, the Ghislaine Maxwell trial. and
- 11:44Speaker 1: all of the players on the stage. And hopefully, when
- 11:49Speaker 1: we're done here on the podcast, we can try and
- 11:52Speaker 1: clear a little bit of that up. And my suggestion
- 11:55Speaker 1: would be to all of you out there who are
- 11:57Speaker 1: new to this case, who have just found the Ghislaine
- 11:59Speaker 1: Maxwell trial or have just gotten interested in this, I
- 12:03Speaker 1: would suggest that you go onto social media and you
- 12:07Speaker 1: seek out some of the survivors from this case and
- 12:11Speaker 1: follow them on social media. And listen to them in
- 12:14Speaker 1: their own words. That way there's no background noise. There's
- 12:18Speaker 1: no middle man. And one thing that these survivors did
- 12:23Speaker 1: that was pretty much groundbreaking. Was they skipped the legacy media.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And they went directly to social media. To independent content creators.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And independent journalists to get the story out. And once
- 12:37Speaker 1: there was such a swell from all of you people
- 12:40Speaker 1: out there who have been following this case. They were
- 12:42Speaker 1: forced to act, right? And it's been pretty crazy to
- 12:48Speaker 1: watch it all unfold. Because it has been time and
- 12:56Speaker 1: time again where not only were these girls, women... Victimized
- 13:04Speaker 1: by Jeffrey Epstein and allegedly Maxwell. But by our very
- 13:10Speaker 1: own justice system. By the people who were put in
- 13:13Speaker 1: place to make sure that the most vulnerable amongst us
- 13:15Speaker 1: are protected. Those very people failed these girls. And you
- 13:21Speaker 1: heard it yesterday in the trial. And it's something I've
- 13:23Speaker 1: been punching home for a long time here. They chose
- 13:27Speaker 1: girls from broken homes. Girls who come from Low income families.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Girls who don't have as many prospects on the horizon.
- 13:37Speaker 1: And they specifically search these kinds of girls out. And
- 13:41Speaker 1: that just makes it even more draconian to me. As
- 13:46Speaker 1: if it's not hard enough. Being broke. Being poor. Coming
- 13:50Speaker 1: from a broken home. Now you have this multi hundred
- 13:54Speaker 1: million dollar predator. And his co-associate. His underboss. Bringing you
- 14:02Speaker 1: in to groom you and molest you. It's absolutely horrendous
- 14:07Speaker 1: to think about. And the fact that they preyed on
- 14:09Speaker 1: the most vulnerable amongst us. It just makes me so mad.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I really dislike bullies. And I really like people who
- 14:18Speaker 1: punch down. I really dislike people who punch down. And
- 14:22Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein was all of that. And Ghislaine Maxwell. She
- 14:26Speaker 1: went right along with it. She was right there making
- 14:29Speaker 1: decisions with them. And... helping him facilitate all of this
- 14:34Speaker 1: according to multiple, multiple survivors. He goes on to say
- 14:41Speaker 1: that he suspects that the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, who
- 14:44Speaker 1: stands accused of helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse minors, will
- 14:47Speaker 1: follow a similar arc to those other trials, meaning, you know,
- 14:52Speaker 1: the whole entire circus atmosphere, etc., etc., He says the
- 14:56Speaker 1: media has revved itself up to cover the story of
- 14:58Speaker 1: a stylish jet-setting socialite who broke fantastically bad. But over
- 15:03Speaker 1: the coming long courtroom days, chances are we'll hear less
- 15:06Speaker 1: about how she graduated from Oxford, speaks several languages and
- 15:10Speaker 1: can pilot helicopters, and more about how she allegedly took
- 15:14Speaker 1: teenage girls on Florida shopping mall excursions as a means
- 15:18Speaker 1: of prepping them for molestation. Yeah, well, anyone who's showing
- 15:23Speaker 1: up here thinking that Ghislaine Maxwell is just some you know,
- 15:25Speaker 1: shrinking violet socialite, you're in for a rude awakening because
- 15:30Speaker 1: that is not the case. Ghislaine Maxwell is not that, okay?
- 15:39Speaker 1: She knew exactly what she was getting into. Well-educated lady,
- 15:43Speaker 1: comes from money, comes from power. And to think that
- 15:46Speaker 1: she was just along for the ride is absolutely ridiculous. And,
- 15:53Speaker 1: you know, again, When we talk about the overall atmosphere
- 15:58Speaker 1: around this trial, there's going to be some wildness. There's
- 16:01Speaker 1: no doubt about it. And there's going to be a
- 16:05Speaker 1: ton of carnival barkers and a ton of disinformation agents.
- 16:11Speaker 1: But one thing that is going to be constant, one
- 16:14Speaker 1: thing that you can guarantee is the profile that's going
- 16:19Speaker 1: to be painted of Ghislaine Maxwell is going to be
- 16:22Speaker 1: less than flattering. By the prosecution. And not only that.
- 16:27Speaker 1: But those assertions. Well they're going to be backed up.
- 16:31Speaker 1: By evidence. And the statements from the survivors. Themselves. So.
- 16:41Speaker 1: It's going to be. A very very interesting. Few weeks.
- 16:46Speaker 1: To see which way Maxwell's team. Goes with all of this.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Now we already know. That their strategy so far. has
- 16:53Speaker 1: been to come out and blame the girls, basically, right?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Saying that, you know, Maxwell was just someone who was
- 17:05Speaker 1: around for Epstein's run. She didn't have anything to do
- 17:09Speaker 1: with it. And, you know, the girls are liars. They're
- 17:12Speaker 1: really above the age of consent. So, you know how
- 17:15Speaker 1: it goes. This is the typical defense when you see
- 17:20Speaker 1: a case like this. You know, they try and impugn
- 17:25Speaker 1: the reputation of the accusers. They try and set them
- 17:28Speaker 1: up as if they're money hungry or they're prostitutes or
- 17:33Speaker 1: whatever it may be. But they've been doing this forever.
- 17:37Speaker 1: It's like when you're in the NFL and you fire
- 17:40Speaker 1: your coach and you think it's a good idea to
- 17:41Speaker 1: bring in Wade Wilson again. Bro, why are you bringing
- 17:46Speaker 1: in the same guy with the same playbook? And that's
- 17:49Speaker 1: what the Maxwell team is doing here. And I've been
- 17:52Speaker 1: pretty steadfast in my opinion that it's not going to
- 17:55Speaker 1: work out. You're not going to paint Maxwell as a scapegoat.
- 18:00Speaker 1: She's not a stand-in for Epstein's crimes. None of that.
- 18:04Speaker 1: And I really hope that the prosecution punches that home.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Now again, not very confident. in the, the prosecution in America,
- 18:14Speaker 1: the prosecutors in America, when they're going after high profile people.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Oh sure. When the federal authorities are going after you
- 18:21Speaker 1: or me, it's a home run for them, right? Slam
- 18:24Speaker 1: dunk city. But when they're going after their own friends,
- 18:27Speaker 1: the other, uh, members of so-called elite society, it usually
- 18:31Speaker 1: turns out a little bit different, doesn't it? But hopefully
- 18:34Speaker 1: there's enough, um, interest and enough anger around this case
- 18:41Speaker 1: that they can't pull any of those nonsensical moves that
- 18:45Speaker 1: they usually like to pull. So, I hope that the
- 18:50Speaker 1: prosecution continues to beat home the fact that Ghislaine Maxwell
- 18:54Speaker 1: was not a passenger on this ship. She wasn't just
- 18:58Speaker 1: somebody who was stowing away. She was, in fact, piloting
- 19:02Speaker 1: the ship sometimes. She was in the navigation room. She
- 19:07Speaker 1: knew how the engine worked. And she certainly, most certainly,
- 19:14Speaker 1: knew what was going on. And for her to set
- 19:19Speaker 1: it up as if she had no idea what was
- 19:21Speaker 1: going on, you know, that she was just completely taken
- 19:25Speaker 1: off guard by what happened here, is just an absolute
- 19:30Speaker 1: ridiculous leap that they're asking people to take. And I
- 19:34Speaker 1: honestly doubt anyone's going to be willing to take that leap. So,
- 19:41Speaker 1: there you have it, folks, for the morning. Now, trial's
- 19:46Speaker 1: getting ready or is back underway as we speak. It's...
- 19:50Speaker 1: 6 a.m. here in Las Vegas as this episode's about
- 19:52Speaker 1: to be dropped. So we got a whole day ahead
- 19:55Speaker 1: of us. We're going to keep an eye on things.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I'm pretty much locked into the studio watching the live
- 20:03Speaker 1: streams happen with the updates, live updates, not phone or
- 20:07Speaker 1: you know, digital or anything like that. But there's a
- 20:09Speaker 1: lot of live threads on like Twitter from inner city press.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Adam Classfeld has a real good live feed that he's
- 20:16Speaker 1: been doing. So I'll be following those all day and
- 20:20Speaker 1: preparing to come back tonight and do a wrap up
- 20:23Speaker 1: show and talk about what occurred throughout the day in
- 20:25Speaker 1: the trial and what, if any, surprises or curve balls
- 20:32Speaker 1: were thrown our way. If you'd like to contact me,
