- 0:00Karen Kenney: It's the Karen Kenney show. Hey you guys.
- 0:04Welcome to the show. I'm wicked excited to share with you a
- 0:08conversation that I had with my guests this week. Now some of
- 0:11you might know who she is, especially if you're kind of in
- 0:15the spiritual community and you're into Oracle oracle decks,
- 0:19like card decks and stuff like that. You might know who she is,
- 0:22but for those of you who don't, I'm just going to share with you
- 0:25some of her bio and stuff like that. So Colette Baron Reed is
- 0:29an internationally respected author of eight books. She's an
- 0:33educator, she's a spiritual intuitive and medium, and she is
- 0:37an Oracle expert. She's published 19 oracle decks, and
- 0:42they have sold over 2 million copies, which is just like
- 0:46crazy. Her best selling books in Oracle cars have also been
- 0:50published worldwide into like 27 different languages. She's the
- 0:55founder of the Oracle School, which is a global online
- 0:58learning platform and has students in 35 countries, and
- 1:02it's all about it brings together empowerment, co
- 1:04creation and ancient oracles, but in a modern and contemporary
- 1:09way, she's also the creator of the energy psychology technique
- 1:14called envision the total mind shift process. She divides her
- 1:19time between Canada and the United States with her husband,
- 1:22and she has three funny little Pomeranians. And you guys, if
- 1:26you stick around to the very end, you're gonna get to see
- 1:31you're gonna get to see one of her little, teeny, tiny
- 1:35Pomeranians. It is worth sticking around for just that,
- 1:38but our conversation is fantastic. What we're really
- 1:41talking about is her new book. And first of all, actually, let
- 1:44me just hold up if you these are two of her best selling Oracle
- 1:49deck cards. This is the wisdom of the Oracle. And then this one
- 1:53is the spirit animal Oracle, which is, like, one of my
- 1:55favorite decks of all times. You know me, I love animals, and
- 1:59it's also really beautiful. The at work in these is, like,
- 2:01gorgeous. Okay, so what we were really talking about on my show
- 2:06today is her new book. It's called the at of manifesting.
- 2:09And this is a meditative drawing practice to rewire your brain
- 2:13and create your reality. It's so fantastic. It brings together
- 2:17neuroscience, spirituality and creativity. I think this is such
- 2:22an incredible thing. I love this book. I've been doing my own
- 2:26drawings and stuff, which you'll see if you watch the show, if
- 2:29you and this might be an episode, PS, where you want to
- 2:32watch it instead of listen to it. You'll still get a lot from
- 2:35it if you listen to it. But there's going to be times where
- 2:37I'm like, holding up drawings, and it will make more sense if
- 2:40you can just see what the frick I'm talking about. You know what
- 2:42I mean? But Colette was lovely. Think we had a great
- 2:45conversation, and she co authored this book with another
- 2:49fellow artist, because Colette is also an artist named Anna
- 2:52Denning, and I just think it's really cool. And why I wanted to
- 2:57talk about this book in particular with her is that I
- 3:00haven't always been a fan of manifesting. I think the way
- 3:02that it's talked about and taught is kind of screwed up.
- 3:06It's kind of suspicious. It's a little suspect. And I didn't
- 3:12really, I didn't really like where so much of the quote,
- 3:15unquote, spiritual community like how they talk about it, so
- 3:19we kind of get into that. And I thought this was a really
- 3:22fascinating and interesting way, an angle, to come at it by a
- 3:25different way of looking at things. And I think you're going
- 3:28to enjoy the conversation. She's a delight. We had so much fun
- 3:31chatting, and I'm just so happy to share this with you. So
- 3:35enjoy. You don't even really have to buckle up for safety.
- 3:38Nothing, nothing big, nothing bad or major happened, but we
- 3:42had a lot of fun, good, high energy. And like I said, I think
- 3:45you're going to really enjoy learning about it. And she also
- 3:48has a workshop coming up that if you're curious about this,
- 3:51definitely check it out, because I think you'll find it really
- 3:54fun. And there's a short, little 15 minute video that she offers.
- 4:00It's kind of like doodling your way out of anxiety that I that I
- 4:04participated in because I wanted to see the effects of it myself,
- 4:07and I thought it was really fantastic. So having said all
- 4:10that, you guys, thank you so much for listening, and I hope
- 4:13you really enjoy this episode in this conversation with Colette
- 4:16Baron Reed, Hey, welcome to the Karen Kenney show you guys, I am
- 4:22wicked excited. I'm so excited today to share my fantastic,
- 4:27beautiful, wonderful, brilliant guest with you, Colette Baron
- 4:30Reed, if you listen to the intro, you already heard her
- 4:33incredible, impressive bio and all of that stuff. But first and
- 4:38foremost, let me just say, Colette, welcome to the show,
- 4:41and thank you so much for being here. Oh, my
- 4:43Unknown: God, I'm so excited. And you know, I lived in New
- 4:45Hampshire for quite a while, and I love hearing the wicked. My
- 4:50housekeeper would say, oh, that's just wicked cool, like
- 4:53wicked good. I loved it. So you're making me home sick. I
- 4:57love New England.
- 4:58Karen Kenney: I know. I know. I'm so happy to have you here.
- 5:01And I was laughing because I was looking on your website, and you
- 5:04basically, kind of go through, like, all the things you do. And
- 5:07like you, I'm also a multi passionate I'm a writer, a
- 5:10speaker, yoga, like a bunch of spiritual menta, a bunch of
- 5:14different things. But you jokingly say, I put here. So
- 5:17even though you joke that you're actually unemployed, my joke is
- 5:22always, I'm unemployable outside of my own employment, right? You
- 5:25know what I mean. But really, the reality is is you're
- 5:27actually wicked successful, and so you've done so much. And for
- 5:33some people who may not like just know you off the jump, I
- 5:36just want to hold up a couple of things. So number one, you have
- 5:4019 oracle decks. Like over 2 million
- 5:43Unknown: sold, which is crazy, and that's over 20 years, okay,
- 5:47and
- 5:48Karen Kenney: still, though, okay, you can, you can quantify,
- 5:50but, like, look at these. These are my two favorites of yours.
- 5:53We were just talking about this. So the welcome Oracle deck, and
- 5:57then the spirit animal one. This is you just said, became
- 6:00possibly the best selling one of
- 6:02Unknown: all you know those two, it goes back and forth. They're
- 6:05the most popular is this spirit animal. And I'm kind of excited,
- 6:09because spirit animal came because of my dad. My dad taught
- 6:12me about spirit animals. He was Serbian, and it's part of Slavic
- 6:16folklore. Is almost identical to North American indigenous
- 6:23folklore. It's so weird. They're like sisters and brothers and
- 6:27and so, yeah, my dad. My dad taught me all about that when I
- 6:30was early in my early teens. So it's really exciting, because
- 6:34every time I hear that, I go, daddy, oh
- 6:37Karen Kenney: my god. That this that does touch my hat too. It
- 6:41makes me so happy, because I think these days and we can not
- 6:44to go off on a segue from the stat, but like, we're really
- 6:48lacking elders. I think it's so it's so wonderful that part of
- 6:52your culture and your history got passed down from your dad to
- 6:54you and then through you and your decks to like so many
- 6:58people. I think that's incredible. But you kind of hit
- 7:01on a point that I always jump off on when I have a guest on
- 7:04the show. I do mostly, like 90% solo shows, I only have a guest
- 7:09on, like, every few months. So I always say, you have to be Thank
- 7:12you. Yeah, no, no. But I say that because I have to be
- 7:15either, like, wicked curious about a person, or I love their
- 7:20work, or I think they're doing great work, and I want to spread
- 7:22it around. But the question I always ask people that I have on
- 7:26and you mentioned your dad was it's a two fold question. Number
- 7:29one, what were you like as a kid, and did your childhood Do
- 7:35you think in any way influence, inform or inspire the work that
- 7:40you do now, okay?
- 7:42Unknown: So I was, I think that when the doctor slapped my ass
- 7:48wake me up, I slapped them right back, right. So that's why I was
- 7:52a curious, very rebellious little kid. I was always
- 7:57talking. I went in grade, nursery school in great in grade
- 8:01and kindergarten. In grade one, I remember always being sitting
- 8:05outside the classroom because I was talking too much. So I was,
- 8:11I was very chatty, chatty, Cathy here, um, and already, when I
- 8:17was a really small kid, I had, I had these experiences of knowing
- 8:23things I shouldn't know without prior knowledge, you know, just
- 8:27like just because I knew who was on the phone, I knew what my
- 8:30mom's, you know, bridge lady's husband was doing, I don't know.
- 8:36I just knew random things. And when I was little, actually, I
- 8:41could think of one thing my nanny, Mrs. Kelly, she was a
- 8:44Scottish nanny, really heavy, Scarlet, Scottish brogue. She
- 8:48must have been in her early 80s, curly, curly permed hair, and
- 8:53she had like a frog in her throat all the time, like she
- 8:56like, kind of barfed like burped. But anyway, so she would
- 9:01have her friends over and read their cards when they would come
- 9:04over. And she was a psychic, like, totally for real. I just,
- 9:08she just could not cook for beans. But anyway, so my parents
- 9:12would go off to their parties, and there would be Mrs. Kelly.
- 9:15And my older sister didn't pay much attention, but I paid a lot
- 9:19of attention to this. But I remember one time she was
- 9:22telling my mom, we used to have one of these doors that swing in
- 9:26and out of the kitchen into the into the dining room. And I
- 9:30heard her telling my mom that I had the site in a very your
- 9:33daughter has the site in a I know you're not allowed to make
- 9:36these, you know, like you can't do the accents anymore. I get
- 9:39it, but whatever, I did a good one. So imagine Scottish accent
- 9:44and I my mom was upset, and I didn't know why she would be
- 9:46upset, because I was so far the only one in the family didn't
- 9:49wear glasses. So when I hear her saying she has a snipe, that's
- 9:54good, right? But so my childhood. You know, was really
- 10:02feeling too much, but really, but I saw fairies in the garden,
- 10:07and I know I did, and they were ugly little things, and they
- 10:11were they weren't pretty. They weren't like the ones we see,
- 10:13like Tinker Bell with fluffy, sprinkly things. They were like,
- 10:16mad that I was that I could see them. One of them was like, I'll
- 10:19never forget. It it was like it was a big fat dragonfly like
- 10:22thing, and it was like it came out of the bushes at me, and it
- 10:26looked right at me. And I'll never forget that it happened to
- 10:30me maybe two or three times. And Mrs. Kelly knew, so I told her,
- 10:34and she's told me not to say anything, like, don't tell your
- 10:36parents. But then she told me that it was, she called it a
- 10:40thistle something, not a thistle fairy, but I forget. But anyway,
- 10:45I was, like, really excited, and then it never happened again.
- 10:48But it was I would see odd things, you know, here and
- 10:51there. Fast forward to where I am now, okay, doing what I do
- 10:57for a living. I believe that curiosity is a superpower. Yes,
- 11:00you know, I believe that. I believe and, and so I was always
- 11:04a little budding artist back then too. So I was my mom would
- 11:07love my little silly drawings of mice and things. But I also know
- 11:12that, like finger painting, like you have to create, like your
- 11:15five, right, and, and so, you know, right now, with my book
- 11:19The Art of manifesting, it's all about that, about bringing that,
- 11:22that be little, being forward, and letting go our tight hold
- 11:26on, on you. Because I never had attachment to outcomes when I
- 11:30was a kid. It was always about and we didn't have tablets,
- 11:34right? I'm to be 68 right? So we had no internet, like when kids
- 11:40went out. You go out to play and be back by, yeah,
- 11:43Karen Kenney: they just kicked you out of the house and, like,
- 11:45find myself and whatever, you know what I mean, but yeah,
- 11:48you're answering like, you know, several of my questions that I
- 11:51have because, you know, in your bio, it's like, oh, I'm a
- 11:53spiritual, you know, intuitive and medium. And I'm like, okay,
- 11:57for a lot of people, those gifts, those talents or
- 11:59abilities, show up in your younger years. And so you you
- 12:03were, yeah, you were aware of your gifts back then. And you
- 12:06know, it sounds like you were just really open and creative,
- 12:09and that's the thing. Like I was a kid who loved to draw, love to
- 12:14make marks on paper. I think we've always loved to make marks
- 12:17on paper. Like I remember when I traveled to Egypt with my my
- 12:21dear friend and spiritual godmother, Marianne Williamson,
- 12:24and we went, and the first time I saw the hieroglyphics, and,
- 12:28like, sec met and like pyramids, I was like, Oh my God. I just
- 12:33feel like, I've, you know, been here before, like, we've been
- 12:36making mocks on stone and whatever, like, those were the
- 12:38original tablets, right? Like, back in the day, it's like, so
- 12:42incredible. But one of the things that I love about what
- 12:46you're sharing, you already said a couple of things, is, but oh,
- 12:49what I was going to say about that, though, is, even though I
- 12:51love to draw, as a kid, I was a kid who liked to draw inside the
- 12:55lines, like, I was one of those little like, you know, liked
- 12:59everything neat, perfectionist kids. So I always love when I
- 13:02meet kind of the wild, free, abandoned kids who are just
- 13:06like, I just go crazy and scribble. I think it's so cool.
- 13:09But one of the things that I love about the work that you're
- 13:12doing, and I this book, is so fantastic, you guys. I'm holding
- 13:16up Colette's new book. It's the art of manifesting a meditative
- 13:19drawing practice to rewire your brain and create your reality. I
- 13:24love that. You can see I've mocked it up. It's pretty we're
- 13:27gonna dive into this in one second. But one of the things I
- 13:30wanted to say is, in order to get ready for this, as a kid who
- 13:36loved to draw like you could just always find me at the table
- 13:39with leg crayons and Mark is in my pads of paper. Whatever
- 13:42trying to recreate, like Charles Schulz Snoopy or like, whatever
- 13:46we're doing, right is that? So to prepare for this, I signed up
- 13:50for three of your different events. So I did, yeah, and the
- 13:53reason why I'm doing this is this also goes on YouTube. And
- 13:57before we start kind of talking about the process, I just wanted
- 14:01to show people kind of like, what it might look like from
- 14:04somebody who had never done it before, just like them, right?
- 14:07So I did doodle your way to calm, clarity and joy, the one
- 14:10you did with Mindy Peltz with Mindy, yeah. Okay, so that was
- 14:14my first one that I did with you guys, when I was just learning I
- 14:17was like, Okay, that was, that was really cool. Then I did a
- 14:21new way to vision board. You just did that January, because I
- 14:24had thoughts about vision boarding and how I felt about
- 14:27vision boarding. But this, I'm going to tell you why I want to
- 14:30dive into this. This one, I thought this was so cool. I
- 14:35haven't finished it. But what, what I loved about this, we'll
- 14:38discuss in a minute, because I want you to kind of break down
- 14:41some of the elements. And then I also just did the the fantastic
- 14:45meditation on anxiety relief, the spiral reset, meditation
- 14:49one, yeah, I just did that. Isn't that fun? This one was
- 14:53wicked fun too, and I loved it. So those of you who are
- 14:57listening to this at home, if you're not watching, ha. Hop
- 15:00over to YouTube so you can see these drawings, because it's so
- 15:03not that my drawings are fantastic, but I want you to
- 15:06have an idea, right? I want the listeners to have an idea of
- 15:09kind of like, what, what we're talking about, but not
- 15:12Unknown: about it's really not about making the most beautiful
- 15:16drawing. It's about making meaning, right? The marks are
- 15:20meaning makers, right? So, so it doesn't have to look I make. I
- 15:24used to make a joke that it doesn't have to look like
- 15:26Picasso. But then again, Picasso puts eyeballs under your armpit,
- 15:29right? So that's a bad example.
- 15:32Karen Kenney: Well, you say, and I love this. All you need to do
- 15:34is, you just need a pen and paper, and it's so simple, and a
- 15:38few quiet minutes, and you just go in and you start the process,
- 15:41and all the pressure is off. And for a kid who was a
- 15:45perfectionist, as somebody who, like, you know, tried to control
- 15:48things, that's why I found safety and all that stuff, my
- 15:51nervous system when I'm doing these exercises, when I'm doing,
- 15:55you know, the out of manifesting, as you call the am
- 15:57method, I just find, like, my whole nervous system just kind
- 16:01of like, quiets down and it relaxes like so much. Have you
- 16:05found that? And you get that?
- 16:07Unknown: I did this. So I this came about because I had anxiety
- 16:12during the pandemic. We were always we were doing all these,
- 16:14like, big events online all the time, and I was giving really
- 16:17too much, right? And yes, and I really feel the feelings of
- 16:20everybody, and I needed an outlet, so I signed up for a
- 16:24painting class. I never finished it, because I went off and did
- 16:28my own thing. After, like, I think it was 13 steps, I did
- 16:31four steps, and off I went, right? But anyway, I started
- 16:34painting, and painting changed me. I was like, Oh my God, I
- 16:39feel so much better. And I wasn't even thinking about
- 16:41anything. So then I, year later, I broke my foot, and I couldn't
- 16:46stand in front of my canvas. And I'm like, this is one of my
- 16:49paintings behind me. Yeah. So anyhow, so I'm like, Okay, what
- 16:54am I going to do? So I started going down the rabbit hole and
- 16:59and I wanted to understand, why is it that doing art, same
- 17:03thing? Because I'm a musician too, and making music, creating
- 17:06music or doing art, but mostly just doing simple because this
- 17:10is one, this is 1111 1111, prayer marks. This is all marks.
- 17:16That's the thing behind me. Yeah. People sent him prayers,
- 17:19and I would just mark the canvas until it became that, that
- 17:21thing. So just marking, marking without any thought, right?
- 17:26Mark, Mark, Mark, how that could just be, like, I let go and I'm
- 17:30in a flow state where I couldn't make myself go there, because
- 17:34half the time, whenever I get stressed out, I can't remember
- 17:37my tapping. I can't remember what the hell things that even
- 17:40I've come up with to help you, like, I don't remember the
- 17:43protocols my brain goes, Yes, I needed something. And then I
- 17:48then I did the research while I was in bed, I, you know, I
- 17:51couldn't move. So I was like, Okay, where is this information?
- 17:55And sure enough,
- 17:56Karen Kenney: neuroscience, of it all neuroscience, exactly
- 17:59Unknown: which is what went into the book. Because, I mean, and I
- 18:01know the book can be quite heavy, but I know that
- 18:05manifestation has been taught by so many people, which is a head
- 18:08exercise. It's talks about only in the head, yeah. And I wanted
- 18:12it to be an embodied practice, because that's how I know it
- 18:15works. Yes, right? So, so, but we also wanted the science
- 18:20behind it, because there's enough naysayers as, oh, that's
- 18:23just New Age gobbledy Crap. Yeah. I'm like, No, there's real
- 18:28science behind this that really is true, and it's just the one
- 18:32thing we don't understand is the universe. We it's always going
- 18:35to be ineffable, until one day somebody figures it out.
- 18:38Whatever. We don't understand consciousness with a capital C.
- 18:41We don't know why synchronicities and coincidence
- 18:44happen. All we know is that we're in a dialog with the
- 18:46universe, and that's what this facilitates, but not in a
- 18:50difficult way.
- 18:51Karen Kenney: Yes, I simple Yes, and I think that's what I love
- 18:55about it. So, you know, I'm a spiritual mentor and an
- 18:58integrative coach and a hypnotist, whatever. So
- 19:00neuroscience is part of my bag. So when you're saying it's
- 19:04really heady, I didn't actually think it was that heady. I think
- 19:07it's really clarifying for a lot of people. And I think for
- 19:10people who you know, there's a there's a whole bunch of us that
- 19:13are like, that's great, yeah, yeah, I'm making mocks on but
- 19:17there's a whole population of people that are like, I want to
- 19:20know why it works. Well, that's right, that's for, yeah, that's
- 19:24how I, you know, I want to get behind the idea because, you
- 19:28know, my I'm married to a professional musician, and so I
- 19:32know that, and I'm a writer, so I know the power like art and
- 19:35creativity for helping us. But one of the things I want to dive
- 19:39into is something that you just said about manifestation.
- 19:42Because my whole thing about manifestation is, I've always
- 19:46been kind of, like, not that much of a fan and not just shit
- 19:49on people. Like, I think that book The Secret, like, a bunch
- 19:52of people learned about it that way. But I think what happened
- 19:56is, is one of the things that I often say to people is like,
- 19:59look, man. Fist thing the way that that was taught. I was
- 20:02like, I was like, Look, God's not your fucking Aaron boy. No,
- 20:05not great. We're not here to, like, just place your order at
- 20:09dunks and then you sit back and wait for your riches and your
- 20:12Maserati whatever, to come for you. I'm like, that's that's not
- 20:15how it is. And then the other feelings that I had, and I'm
- 20:18saying these, in case anybody else out there listening might
- 20:20relate is I used to be like, Well, if you're grasping and
- 20:24wanting and you need to manifest something, I'm like, first of
- 20:27all, it assumes you're coming from a place of lack, run away.
- 20:30It's gonna run away Exactly. So this is why I'm saying because I
- 20:33want you to counter all these things. And then it's like,
- 20:36there's also kind of that element where it's lacking
- 20:38gratitude for what you already have. So what I loved about this
- 20:43method, and each time I get to take a class with you, it's like
- 20:46so fun, because I get to see it and learn it in a because, like
- 20:50the thing with Mindy, the new vision board and the spiral
- 20:53meditation, they're all little doorways into the deeper
- 20:57practice. So I just wanted to keep experiencing it. But my
- 21:01favorite thing that happened, and I'll hold up this again,
- 21:05which I loved. So if you're not looking at this right now, you
- 21:09guys, if you can only hear the sound of my voice, just imagine
- 21:11that there's a mark, a.in the center of a page, okay, and then
- 21:16around that.is a largest circle. But then on the outside of that
- 21:21largest circle, there's a box. Now this was my favorite thing
- 21:25about this whole thing to me, and please correct me if I'm
- 21:28wrong. What I loved about this is this box represents to me.
- 21:33I'm not saying this is what you taught, but my take on it was,
- 21:37oh yeah. These are like, my limitations and beliefs. So my
- 21:42dreams can't really go outside that line. That's the kid that
- 21:47colors inside the lines. Now two things, and then I'm going to
- 21:51shut up so you can talk. I remember. Well, first of all,
- 21:55there's a line in A Course in Miracles that basically talks
- 21:57about not, not that we shouldn't judge, but that we can't judge
- 22:02because we don't know everything. We don't know have
- 22:06all the information. Okay? And then number two, I remember once
- 22:12when Oprah said, God dreams a bigger dream for me than I
- 22:15dreamed for myself. Okay? What I loved about this again, you
- 22:19guys, I'm pointing at the box, is it? I'll never forget, on the
- 22:22thing, on the workshop, you said, Leave out, leave room on
- 22:28the edges of the box, because that's where the co creation
- 22:32with divine intelligence, that loving intelligence, the
- 22:35universe, source, God, whatever you call it, right? Love lives.
- 22:40And that to me, just like, literally, my creativity just
- 22:43went like, and I'm like, Yeah, because I can't know everything.
- 22:47I have no idea what's coming down the pike. I don't even know
- 22:50what I'm capable of. So will you talk about that a little bit?
- 22:54Unknown: Yes, I'd love to. So let's go back now for
- 22:57everything. You started this entire conversation talking
- 22:59about the secret, yeah, and I love that you said it that way,
- 23:02because I know that the universe is not Uber Eats, yeah, we know
- 23:06that's right. But what, what it did was, at the time, we were in
- 23:11a if you think about when it came out in 22,006 this is a
- 23:15couple years before the big, crazy bank that, you know, the
- 23:19whole, the shemazzle, yeah, the collapse, financial collapse.
- 23:24And we were, since the 90s, we were very much in an
- 23:28acquisitional mindset, right? Go get something. I'm going to go
- 23:31get something. I'm going to, I'm going to make this thing happen.
- 23:34Hustle, hustle, hustle. So it made sense that the people that
- 23:37when they read that book, that's where they were coming from.
- 23:40Anyway, I can see that and I can have it. So like you said, I'm
- 23:44going to, I'm going to put my order in a Duncan's and wait for
- 23:47it to show up, right? And, you know, like your Maserati, and I
- 23:50love that. I can't do your accent, but it's so great. I
- 23:52could listen to you talk all day. Anyway, so, and I got a
- 23:55Canadian one, so whatever. So what happens is, is that you
- 24:00have to unlearn that. Yes, um, right, you have, because that's
- 24:04about control. That's not about co creation, right? That that
- 24:08experience is is looking you are grabbing certainty and control.
- 24:12That's what you want. You want to know that you can get what
- 24:16you want right, and what you want is going to be that thing.
- 24:20Now, definitely some, you know, things are easy to, quote,
- 24:23unquote, get if you have no attachment to them and they're
- 24:25just a thing. I always get a parking space. I always find the
- 24:28thing in the store that I'm like, I just go, bang, put it
- 24:31out there. I'm going to just go with my little nose. If it's
- 24:33meant to be, be there. If it's not there, I don't give a shit.
- 24:35Off I go. But the but when you look at this as a tool to co
- 24:40create reality, you have to learn something new, and that is
- 24:45what I have learned. Like I learned how to do all this stuff
- 24:4840 years ago, when I got clean and sober, I went to Unity
- 24:51Church, right? I did the Course in Miracles. I did a whole
- 24:54shemazzle, right? And actually, I think Mary Ann had just done
- 24:57her book a return to love, because I got sober. And I
- 24:59think.
- 25:01Karen Kenney: 891, it came out. 9192
- 25:05Unknown: Yes, I got sober in 1986 so she was writing it Yes,
- 25:08but it was like, okay, so I went to Unity. I got I learned all
- 25:12this stuff about treasure maps and whatever, and they were
- 25:15talking about alignment, right, but they didn't really explain
- 25:18it that good. I still was like, I want that. Go, get it right. I
- 25:21want it. I want it. I want it. I want it right. And so what? What
- 25:26I learned, I've done over 40 of these vision boards, for
- 25:29example. But what I learned, I kept challenging it. What's
- 25:33missing here? What is missing if I look back on every because I
- 25:38got literally every single thing that I put on the boards, the
- 25:41things that were right for me came to came to be, but they
- 25:45weren't always. 90% of the time were not anything the way I
- 25:48thought they were going to be okay.
- 25:49Karen Kenney: I'm going to be rude and interrupt because I
- 25:51remember you told the story about your sweetie, how, like,
- 25:54he was the total opposite of, like, what you would normally,
- 25:57you know, like desire or whatever. Yeah.
- 26:00Unknown: So exactly, so that, but, but here's the thing, when
- 26:04I tracked it, everything happened through
- 26:07synchronicities. It didn't happen because Collette made it
- 26:09happen. It didn't happen because I said, I want it now give it to
- 26:13me. It happened because I became the person that could have the
- 26:16thing that I said I wanted, and thank God I didn't get, like,
- 26:19the record deal that I wanted so badly for 20 years when it came,
- 26:23it would have destroyed me had I got this before, because the
- 26:26music business ate me up and shoot like chewed me up and spit
- 26:29me out. Yes, right? I mean, the whole thing, that's all I
- 26:32wanted, was to be a singer songwriter, and I had a career
- 26:35and stuff. And the career, the all the feelings that I wanted
- 26:38that career to give me showed up in this weirdo career that I
- 26:41only want. I used to tell people I don't really do this. I'm
- 26:44really a singer. Don't come back next year. I don't do this,
- 26:47right? Like, I don't really talk to dead people. Oh no. Like, I'm
- 26:51just really good at picking out information and stuff. And
- 26:53they're like, Well, I don't know, you know, I was like, No.
- 26:57And the universe like, hello, see this over there? This is
- 27:00kind of good, but no, anyway, so I'll tell you. So what I learned
- 27:06was every single thing that I thought I believed that the like
- 27:11the record deal, the things that I wanted were going to give me,
- 27:14I got in a different way, in a form that was right for me, not
- 27:18only right for me, it was 10 times better. I got a life
- 27:21bigger than my wildest dreams. And guess what? I still do
- 27:24music. I'm going to record on EP in two weeks. I love it. But you
- 27:31know what? I mean, it's no longer my identity is no longer
- 27:36dependent on that. So when people come to manifestation,
- 27:40yeah, they, they, they have to let go the need for they have to
- 27:44recognize the zone of synchronicity, which is what
- 27:46that's called, by the way. And yes, the internal thing is the
- 27:50limitations. But you know, in a vision board, when you put a
- 27:54border, you act, you're doing it for a specific purpose, because
- 27:57you're telling the universe you would like whatever you place
- 28:01inside that border to come into form, because manifestation is
- 28:05to call into ordinary reality, from non ordinary reality into
- 28:09visibility, from invisibility. You want to see it materialize
- 28:12so but you're right. That's a limitation. I don't know what I
- 28:16could have beyond what my imagination.
- 28:18Karen Kenney: Yes, that's how I meant it. That's how I mostly
- 28:21meant it, is that, like my, my imagination is like this, right,
- 28:25which is also a lot of that comes from your cultural, your
- 28:29upbringing, your environment as a child, right? Like, if you, if
- 28:33you don't think, right, I'm worthy of more than this, or
- 28:37whatever your dreams will be. And I'm not saying everybody has
- 28:40to have a wicked, big dream. But my point was, like, just with
- 28:44that boundary, what I loved you called it, what the field of
- 28:47synchronicity around it. And the zone of zone of synchronicity
- 28:51like that is where the field, yeah, that, right, that, right.
- 28:55Some people call it the quantum field, right? But that, to me,
- 28:58is like, the divine intelligence is playground, and I'm like
- 29:02that. I don't want to limit that. So that, to me, was that
- 29:05missing piece that you were talking about,
- 29:07Unknown: but also the embodiment practice, because we stay in our
- 29:11heads all the time, like most division, most talk, most
- 29:15teachers teach manifestation from this level,
- 29:18Karen Kenney: 100% she's pointing at her head. You guys,
- 29:20the neck up,
- 29:21Unknown: visualize, think about it, obsess about a stare at it.
- 29:25Get really specific, right? And then very little is taught about
- 29:30letting it go and not caring, okay? Because that's really
- 29:32needed and but that's why a lot of people think it doesn't work.
- 29:36But the truth is, you don't manifest what you want. You
- 29:38manifest what you are. And some
- 29:41Karen Kenney: Okay, Collette, hold on. I want them to hear
- 29:44that very, very clearly. Will you say that line one more time,
- 29:49please? For the people, I'm not first person to say this. I
- 29:51know, I know,
- 29:53Unknown: but actually, I heard it first from Wayne Dyer. You
- 29:55don't manifest what you want. Yes, manifest what you are. And
- 30:00what that means is that your energy, the rehearsal state that
- 30:05you are in, where you are constantly thinking about
- 30:07things, the things that you rehearse over and over again,
- 30:10your beliefs, your that's why it's so dangerous. Like, get off
- 30:14social media. Get off the news. Like, don't let that decide for
- 30:18you, your your narrative, right? But whatever narrative that you
- 30:21keep telling over and over again is what's going to come to you,
- 30:24because that's the frequency that you're sending out. You're
- 30:28broadcasting, and then the field responds it. It responds back.
- 30:34It always is responding to us. 24/7, you want something
- 30:39different outside. You got to change the inside.
- 30:41Karen Kenney: Okay? Perfect. Two things I want to, I want to do
- 30:44so that the science equivalent of that is Rick Hansen, who
- 30:47always says, neurons that fire together, wire together, right?
- 30:52So if we're constantly, like, focusing on what we don't want,
- 30:56it's like when you're a kid, right? And in the car and you're
- 30:59playing that, like, all of a sudden, like, you don't notice
- 31:02any of the little Volkswagens until somebody yells, punch
- 31:05buggy, right? What you're looking for, that's all you see,
- 31:08is like, punch buggy, punch buggy, punch buggy. But
- 31:10sometimes, when you're focusing on what you don't want, your
- 31:12fear, your doubt, your cynicism, whatever you know, it's
- 31:17important that we, you know, check ourselves, because of that
- 31:19negativity bias in the brain to be looking for the good, the
- 31:23beautiful and the holy. You know what I mean? Sometimes it's
- 31:25like,
- 31:26Unknown: it's harder, and it's harder because of the way we're
- 31:28built. Yeah, right. We are built. The negativity bias
- 31:32allows us to stay alive, right? So when we're on patrol looking
- 31:35for potential threats, it's because we're trying to survive,
- 31:38but we don't. We can't be intuitive, by the way, when
- 31:41we're like that, we're in the instinct for survival. Intuition
- 31:43depends on our curiosity, and seriously, really, really spot
- 31:48on. Intuition comes with a regulated nervous system when
- 31:53you just deliver, oh, hey boo, and you're curious. You can't be
- 31:56curious when you're looking for something that there's a knife
- 31:59around the it's like, where's that knife? Not like, Oh, I
- 32:02wonder what's there exactly?
- 32:04Karen Kenney: Well, the other my second one, my number two was
- 32:07because you said the field, and when you just dive into that a
- 32:10little bit, for people who might not know what what you're
- 32:12talking about,
- 32:13Unknown: okay, so I'm going to talk about it in different
- 32:16language, right? So, so if you, if you look at we are part of a
- 32:22quantum field, so let's go to quantum science, which means
- 32:26we're not separate from each other. It's very hard to imagine
- 32:28that, because I see you and your pink sweater over there, and you
- 32:31see me and my green sweater over here, and I'm not there and
- 32:34you're not here, and therefore we're separate, right? That's
- 32:36like we are built also kind of weird. I don't understand why
- 32:39they built us like this, but whatever is that we can't see,
- 32:43that we're not that our connections, we can't really see
- 32:45that. So not only that, we've all been raised to see
- 32:50everything is separate, right, including consciousness, but if
- 32:54you go to the quantum field and you see that literally
- 32:57everything is connected all the time. So let's take the word
- 33:00quantum out of it, because then we get all too weird about,
- 33:03like, what is quantum science? But how about just looking at
- 33:06and Lynn McTaggart is the perfect author you guys to read.
- 33:11She has a book called The intention experiment and a book
- 33:14called the field, and she's a science researcher. Fabulous
- 33:18books. It's like you're going on a mystery adventure, and you
- 33:21start to realize that there is a proven field of connection that
- 33:26that exists in the world between all biological that we can tell
- 33:32even the grass is sentient. It feels us and me can play music
- 33:36and all kinds of weird shit that you go like, I don't understand
- 33:38that, but you just have to just go with me on this. Yes. So the
- 33:42invisible world, just because we can't see it doesn't mean it's
- 33:47not there.
- 33:48Karen Kenney: Double Amen, hands, yes, I'm with you, right?
- 33:51Yep.
- 33:52Unknown: So if we can imagine it, we can we can bump into it
- 33:57pretty easy, because part of our brain's job, the reticular
- 34:01activating system of the brain, is to guide our eyes to what we
- 34:07have rehearsed as true. It's a way, it's a it's a feedback
- 34:10system to say, Okay, well, you believe all the fear that we had
- 34:14like it's a bouncer at a party. It'll only let in the fear
- 34:17people because and then it goes, see over there more reasons to
- 34:20be afraid. Bring them into the party. But now, when you start
- 34:22to rehearse gratitude, which is what we talk about in the book,
- 34:25and you have to make a discipline of doing that for
- 34:28nothing, no other reason, just to be in that state of being,
- 34:31all of a sudden, he kicks everybody out of the party and
- 34:34goes like, okay, all you grateful people, you know,
- 34:36great, grateful experiences. Come on in, and I'm going to
- 34:39show you. I'm gonna light up the runways. You got to go there.
- 34:43You would have gone over there, but now you're in this you're in
- 34:46this frequency. We're showing you all this because the world
- 34:49has everything. The world does not just have what we are being
- 34:52fed on media, like we're being fed garbage, food.
- 35:00Karen Kenney: Okay, like this world, table scraps. Man, table
- 35:02scraps.
- 35:03Unknown: Yeah, not even, yeah, not even, and. And for a reason,
- 35:07it's like, if you keep a population afraid and divide it
- 35:11easy to easy
- 35:12Karen Kenney: to control us, so don't
- 35:15Unknown: do that. The thing is, it's like, okay, fine, I'm not.
- 35:17I'm powerless to change any of that. But this and that can both
- 35:21be true. I can be an absolute immense gratitude while all that
- 35:24shit is going on, and I can still see the runway of where I
- 35:28need to go for the miracle. The miracles are endless, and they
- 35:31are there. They are always there. We have to become that,
- 35:36that person who is, I always say to myself, who would I need to
- 35:41be, to have that, to have that experience I want, right, like I
- 35:45would need to be. Would I need to be different at all? Would I
- 35:49need to be fearless? Would I need to be so then it's like
- 35:51acting. It's like, okay, who would, who would Collette be in
- 35:53those shoes? Yes, you know? Oh, sorry,
- 35:56Karen Kenney: go ahead. No. Robert dramas, Tagore, he says
- 35:59this great quote that I share with my clients, and he says,
- 36:02everything that belongs to you, everything that is yours, will
- 36:06come to you if you create the capacity to receive it correct
- 36:11any right. Does that make sense? So like, what it's vibe like?
- 36:14And what you're saying is, like, who would I have to be in order
- 36:18to whether you want to call it, attract or relate to or that
- 36:23same energetic field or vibe that it will happen. And so
- 36:27often we're looking from that place of lack or fear or
- 36:31whatever, that's going to fix me, that thing, yes, I'm broken.
- 36:35We have that idea, quote, unquote, we're broken. This
- 36:37thing is going to fix me. I need this to be whole, happy,
- 36:41healthy, healed, holy, whatever the thing is. And it's like, we
- 36:44forget, and if we can bring ourselves into it, and that's
- 36:46why I love it. But, like, I love all of it, but I think the thing
- 36:50I love most is that it's fun and flowing, and it's funny, it's
- 36:57wicked fun and like, so on that note, and this might be a little
- 37:01weird. I've never done this on a podcast before, but people are,
- 37:06like, loving the book, and so I went to like, Amazon, like, I
- 37:10want to check out some of these reviews, and I'm gonna
- 37:12Unknown: read I never read them. I know very wicked out because I
- 37:16don't read them.
- 37:17Karen Kenney: I know I'm gonna read you a good one, because
- 37:19you're getting a fantastic review. But why I'm also reading
- 37:22it is it kind of breaks down the book a little bit. So it's not
- 37:25too long, but just hear it. Yeah, this person said, If you
- 37:29love creative outlets and are interested in manifestation, in
- 37:32the power of the mind, Colette Baron reads book The Art of
- 37:35manifesting is right up your alley. It's not just another
- 37:38manifestation book. It introduces the this thing called
- 37:42the out of manifesting method, the am method, which is
- 37:46basically, and you can correct any of this if this person get
- 37:49it wrong, but which is basically a meditative Drawing Practice.
- 37:52The whole idea is that you use intentional, simple drawings
- 37:56like circles and flowy lines as a tool to literally rewire your
- 38:00brain and create the reality you want. It blends creativity some
- 38:05all my favorite things right here. It blends creativity and
- 38:08spirituality with an interesting bit of neuroscience explaining
- 38:12how you can use this simple act to carve out new neural pathways
- 38:17break old patterns and align your intentions with the
- 38:20universe. Wow, I know. Well, listen, this is great. This
- 38:23person, I love them, and includes a gentle seven week
- 38:27guide that walks you through the seven steps of manifestation
- 38:31using guided drawings, meditation and journaling. It
- 38:35reminds me, in some ways, of Julia Cameron's, you know, the
- 38:38honest way, and that you don't, I know, it says and that you
- 38:43don't need to be an artist to enjoy the benefits of using
- 38:47these techniques. All you need is a pen and paper. If you're
- 38:51looking for a peaceful, joyful and deeply creative way to
- 38:55manifest change and feel more like the shaper of your destiny,
- 38:59you would absolutely love this.
- 39:01Unknown: Wow, they should get 10 free books. Here's what's been
- 39:09happening. So okay, so I'm really glad that you're a total
- 39:13nerd, too. So, you know, I just been told, before I got on the
- 39:16show, that by somebody else, that this book might be too
- 39:18smart. And I'm like, Oh, really, no. Anyway, yeah, good, thanks.
- 39:21Okay, so then I'm like, I don't write for everybody, but
- 39:24whatever, here we go. So when the book came out, you know,
- 39:30this is, people don't expect me to write a book on art. They
- 39:33would expect me to write about oracles or something like that.
- 39:36But this is really my jam, and I've been obsessed with this for
- 39:39two years before I got a book deal on it, because I started, I
- 39:42just started teaching people this thing. Then I hooked up
- 39:45with Anna Denning, and we added two components that weren't
- 39:48there before, which was the Reiki in the beginning, like the
- 39:50Yeah, the hands, how you doesn't that feel amazing anyway? So,
- 39:56and then the two of us, because I knew I needed a partner, and
- 39:58she just showed up. We both met. Manifested the other one anyhow.
- 40:01So people started having parties. My girlfriend in LA
- 40:05called me, and she goes, I need a box of books. I'm having a I'm
- 40:09having a party. I'm inviting everybody over. And so they all
- 40:13did it, and then, and then one of the women at the party. So
- 40:16there were, like 15 of them. She had a brunch, was hosting a
- 40:19brunch. She bought the books and did it at brunch. And what they
- 40:23did was use seed paper. So seed paper, these pieces of paper
- 40:28that have wild flowers, yes, squished in it. And so what
- 40:33they're going to do is paint. Is they're going to draw their, you
- 40:36know, their desire. Like, really, the desired outcome is
- 40:39feelings. Like, it's really about how do you want to feel.
- 40:41You can put something on there, like money or whatever you want,
- 40:44right? But the end of the day, it's how do you want to feel,
- 40:46and what is it that you're trying to express through you?
- 40:49Right? Yeah. Anyway, so they're all planting their things in
- 40:52these little planters. So, but it's taken off as a party thing
- 40:56with women, mostly women. I don't know any guys that are
- 40:59doing it. Well, no, that's not true. I have two men come to an
- 41:02event in Spain, and they do a drawing with us. And my husband
- 41:06loves doing this to him and his friend, but it's mostly women
- 41:09that come. But anyhow, so they, it's the, it's the coming
- 41:12together with friends, yes, and sitting at the table talking
- 41:16about, well,
- 41:17Karen Kenney: I had my best friend. I wrote to my best
- 41:19friend. I was like, Katie, you got to hop on this. You know,
- 41:23the one in January about the art of benefit, the new way of,
- 41:26like, Vision boarding. I said, hop on this. I go, what did you
- 41:28think? She's like, I loved it. And I was like, I mean, I'm
- 41:33this. I'm like, I pay attention, working closely. So I'm like, Oh
- 41:36yeah, I could figure out the steps. I got the book, whatever.
- 41:39But then I saw that you and Anna are actually doing a teacher
- 41:42training on this. Yes, our first teacher training. I'm like, I
- 41:45don't know, maybe I want to do that. That sounds wicked.
- 41:49Unknown: Well, you can come to the one in June. Hay House is
- 41:51running the June one. This was our beta group. So we ended up,
- 41:55we thought we were going to get 20 teachers. We had 150
- 41:59applicants. Wow. We didn't even tell anybody. We just sort of
- 42:02announced it under the, you know, well, you know, we talked
- 42:04about it anyway. So we ended up taking just under 50. And the
- 42:09idea is that we, you know, we want people to become
- 42:11ambassadors, but we get really nerdy in that one like every
- 42:15single step we go into the background, where it's shown up
- 42:18in different cultures, why this is part of us and why it
- 42:21actually works, and and then we just do a simple like, here's
- 42:25how you would run a group, you know, like, and then make sure
- 42:27everybody in the group gets a book. But we're having so much
- 42:30fun too. Yeah? Like, yeah. You know, learn. If you become a
- 42:36teacher, it's really about the why we why we train you is so
- 42:40you understand what you're doing. It doesn't really go
- 42:43through all that really deeper layers that in the book at all,
- 42:48like we have nerd alerts in the book. Hey, nerd alert. This is
- 42:52what neuroscience says and but you go really and we were even
- 42:56amazed ourselves, like we still can't get over it. Me and her
- 43:00we're, like, we freaking manifested this. Wow.
- 43:03Karen Kenney: I think it's so cool that actually, you know,
- 43:06that the two of you, like, came together, you know, because
- 43:08you're both artists in your own way. Yeah, it's incredible. And
- 43:13one of the things I also loved about the seven steps is, like,
- 43:17it's not passive, like you have like, number four, activate your
- 43:20intention. Number six, create an action plan. And then seven,
- 43:24like, surrender to the universe, like you got to let go of
- 43:27whatever you think the thing is, right. So I love the seven
- 43:30steps. I think it's such a smart and fun and if you're nerdy, and
- 43:35you can geek out on some of the things and understand like, and
- 43:38I think all of us like, when you think back to where we were
- 43:40kids, when you're just on the phone and you would just doodle,
- 43:45or you'd be fine, you're imagining, that's that's just
- 43:49your daydreaming and your imagination, which is literally
- 43:52when you're shifting out of that like beta state, and you're
- 43:56dropping into like alpha and theta, where the Imagination is
- 43:59and everything becomes possible, and to be guided in such a
- 44:04simple and fun way, like I'm saying, like, I was just, like,
- 44:07even when I was just doodling on the anxiety one, I'm like, Oh,
- 44:10this would be so great for my clients who have anxiety. It's
- 44:13just such a little thing, you know, like to do. And I just, I
- 44:17just think it's so fantastic. And I love that. It's, oh,
- 44:21sorry, were you gonna say something?
- 44:22Unknown: No, no. It's like, well, I of course always want to
- 44:26say something. You and I are the same, like, we just want to
- 44:28talk. No, but it's, I think what you nailed was the fact that it
- 44:33is fun and it enables you to get out of that. It's a stress
- 44:39response. And I think everybody right now. I don't care what you
- 44:43Yes, you are. All of us have been under sustained uncertainty
- 44:47for such a long time now, and the body has not been created to
- 44:50experience dysregulation that way all the time. And then now
- 44:54it becomes, if you look at the internet like, I don't have
- 44:57Tiktok, I think it's an assaulting thing, so I don't
- 44:59have. Of it, but I know, apparently I'm on it, but my
- 45:03team has me on there, yeah, but it's like, I do know that other
- 45:06on if I look at Facebook or Instagram where I am, I'll see
- 45:09ads for you know, you know, like, shred and and regulate
- 45:13your system. So that becomes a chore. Like, we don't need more
- 45:18like work. We need flow, like right now. We need a very easy,
- 45:24feminine way to get get regulated. That's fun, and we
- 45:28can let go, and we don't have all these rules and, you know,
- 45:32and and we we can just make marks. And when we make those
- 45:35marks with intention, you know, then synchronicity. And then the
- 45:40whole point of this entire exercise is that you start to
- 45:43notice that the universe responds to you, and if nothing
- 45:47else, it answers you in ways like my favorite story is. So
- 45:52this was the first book I've ever written. I've written eight
- 45:54books and 19 times, and I never, ever in a million years,
- 45:57expected in New York Times bestseller, nor really wanted
- 46:00one, because I just didn't think that was my thing, right? But
- 46:03this is the first time I thought, yeah, this book could
- 46:05do that one day. So I write, do a little drawing, and then I
- 46:09show my head of my brand at Hay House. And I said, you know, I
- 46:12think I am going to, because I've been saying, Oh, I don't
- 46:15care about that. I'm going, you know, it would be nice. I think
- 46:17it would be really cool if I got one. So I did a little New York
- 46:20Times drawing in my drawing and I and then I showed her, and we
- 46:23had a laugh. You had figured, in a couple years, maybe I don't
- 46:26know, right? And then two hours later, my Beth writes me, and it
- 46:31says, The New York Times would like to invite you to teach
- 46:34their staff.
- 46:35Karen Kenney: I remember you telling this story. Keep going.
- 46:39It's so good, right? That's teach
- 46:40Unknown: our staff, like in their healthy times program. I
- 46:43mean, the motive behind this was New York Times and reach more
- 46:47people. It right that because that's what I thought would
- 46:49happen if I got a New York Times bestseller. That means lots of
- 46:52more people would see the book. But the truth is, I really
- 46:55wanted New York Times, and I wanted more people. Well,
- 46:57there's probably 15 people going to be there, and it's the New
- 47:01York Times, I got exactly what I asked for, right? And I'm like,
- 47:04oh. And I think the only reason it happened is because the
- 47:07universe said you need a good story to tell people. And that
- 47:10is the perfect example of letting go the attachment to the
- 47:13form and and seeing all of it as an adventure. Like, wow. Like,
- 47:18surprise me. I was very surprised.
- 47:21Karen Kenney: Yeah, I love that. I mean, these are some of your
- 47:23words that you that went on this, on this drawing, on this
- 47:27one, where I wrote some of the things you did. You wrote
- 47:29surprise me. Thank you. Wow, wow, wow. Divine Will big
- 47:33surprise. Spirit has. Spirit have a plan. It's like spirit
- 47:36has a plan. Gratitude, love, reciprocity, the zone of
- 47:40synchronicity. Gratitude bubbles, like all of it, and
- 47:43it's like it's so what I love so much about the process too, is
- 47:49whenever you're doing the little gratitude bubbles and you're
- 47:51just training your brain, you know, Meister Eckhart says, if
- 47:55the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will
- 47:57be enough. Yeah, when you're just saying thank you, thank
- 48:00you. Thank you. With those little bubbles, thank you, thank
- 48:03you, you literally start to feel a shift inside of you. Yeah,
- 48:06it's incredibly it's, I mean, it's practical, it's powerful,
- 48:11it's super duper fun. You just get out your favorite Mac is
- 48:14your favorite paper, it is. It's like being a little kid again. I
- 48:17mean, we're circling back to where we started, but it's
- 48:20intentional and but what I love about it is it's intentional
- 48:25without the tight grip, exactly no but it's open. I always say,
- 48:30like, love doesn't happen in this state. I'm clenching my
- 48:32fist, you guys. It happens like
- 48:35Unknown: open open handed, and we did it when Anna and I got
- 48:39together. Like Anna came from. She's also an esthetic coach.
- 48:43And she's, she used to teach a Russian form of line art. She
- 48:48teaches lots of different line arts, right? But, and I had kind
- 48:51of dabbled and looked to see if I like it, and I didn't like it
- 48:54because it was too many rules, because it was too heavy, yeah.
- 48:56And then I thought, then I loved Zentangle that was very mindful.
- 48:59It was its own thing. And then, you know, like, all their own
- 49:02things. There's noodle No, not
- 49:03Karen Kenney: noodles, neurography, yeah, there's neuro
- 49:07Unknown: doodles, neurographica. And so, you know, there's lots
- 49:11of different types of these intentional art processes. And
- 49:14so when she and I got together, I said to her, I said, what I
- 49:17really want is something where people don't feel that, that
- 49:24news, that that of perfectionism, that they could
- 49:28feel looser and feel freer and more liberated and more unique
- 49:33to them, right? That it was something that, like, there's a
- 49:36lot in the you're not allowed to put glitter. I If you want to
- 49:38throw glitter all over your Go right ahead. You know what I
- 49:41mean? It's like there are no rules, like, oh, I wanted no
- 49:44rules, because I hate rules, but there has to be containers. So
- 49:47our steps were the container that that invited in the
- 49:52experience. Right then those steps, I swear to God, we
- 49:56literally both just prayed her and I, like, I. Watched a video
- 50:00with her. This happened, so I joined her membership, and I
- 50:04didn't like the the rule based stuff, but she had other things
- 50:08that was very not rule based. She was like, doing all kinds of
- 50:11really cool things. So I just joined her membership, and one
- 50:13day there was a video of her talking about doing a drawing,
- 50:17about her work and bringing in. I don't know who's coming in,
- 50:21but I feel someone is coming. I don't know how it's going to
- 50:25expand my work. Then I'm looking at it going, it's, it's, and it
- 50:31turned out she had my cards. She didn't look at who signed up to
- 50:36her, what her thing, right? So she didn't know I was in there.
- 50:38And i fall i Anyway, I wrote her and I said, like, how can we
- 50:41have a call? Like, my name is Colin parmi. She goes, What's
- 50:44your and she has, she had a stack of my oracle cards and
- 50:48everything. And I just said, this is what I feel. And I know
- 50:50this sounds crazy, but I've been obsessed with this, this, I've
- 50:54made my own thing and but I don't think it's finished. And,
- 50:58you know, want to come in and then her and I both were doing
- 51:01two things that were not in the present, the way the present
- 51:05state of what I was teaching. I was like, Oh, my God, this is
- 51:08it. And then Hay House offered us, me, well, offered me the
- 51:11book deal, and I brought her in, yeah, yeah.
- 51:14Karen Kenney: It's so fantastic. And that's what I'm saying. It's
- 51:16like, you can't make this shit up. Like, it's like, you just
- 51:19don't. And I talk about it all the time, I'll say, Oh, the
- 51:21assignment is alignment. And, you know, I was raised by like,
- 51:25My nana. Well, I have like, a step side of the family. I'm
- 51:28not, apparently, not an Italian kid or Portuguese kid, but I'm
- 51:31an Irish kid who was also raised in family. You know, with
- 51:34Italian Portuguese my little Nana was like, I call her like a
- 51:38little Italian witch. And she used to, she used to do, like,
- 51:41the malookies. And she taught me, like, how did you know she
- 51:43would do the evil and like, yeah, exactly, evil eye,
- 51:47exactly. And like, she taught me how to, like, bless houses and
- 51:50do these little things. So I grew up in a family that grew up
- 51:53knowing psychics, friends with these people who had these
- 51:57gifts, and so it was very normalized for me, but I know
- 51:59for a lot of people, it's like, Ooh, what's this? Like, woo,
- 52:02woo, stuff. And I just think there's something boo poo, the
- 52:06woo, woo. I always say what I say, I go, it's not woo, woo.
- 52:10It's true, true. That's what I always say, yeah. But I just
- 52:13love that, that you're bringing this to, like, a wider audience,
- 52:16in a way that I think is, yeah, yeah. You know what it is, it's
- 52:21smart, but, you know, smarty pants can also be super fun. You
- 52:24know what? I mean? It doesn't have to be like, terrible or
- 52:27wicked hot, but I
- 52:28Unknown: know it's also sorry. I think it's also, you know,
- 52:32people tend to be superstitious about this because of their
- 52:35religious upbringing. Yeah, and like, I have two, well, one
- 52:39woman who works for me, who runs my membership is a Bible study
- 52:42teacher, like, very Christian, like, you can make Jesus your
- 52:45manifesting partner if you want. Like, it's like, that's the
- 52:48other thing. It's like, if you believe, if you are going to
- 52:51hold space and believe that, that this is true for you, then
- 52:56this is going to show up for you. I mean, that's how I
- 52:59learned this in Unity Church, right? And it's non
- 53:02denominational. And I'm, I mean, I think if I wasn't this, I
- 53:05would have been an interfaith minister, because I was really
- 53:08fascinated with that. But this universe had better plans. Yes,
- 53:12I'm so interested in what, what is it that, because there is a
- 53:15mystical quality to Islam, to to Judaism, to Christianity.
- 53:21There's all. Every single faith construct I believe you too, has
- 53:27that more gnostic, you know, you know, personal connection. Right
- 53:32from the beginning of time, we've been trying to figure out
- 53:35our relationship to that which is unknowable. That's right,
- 53:38right? The ineffability of God. Yes, I don't have a problem with
- 53:42that word me, right? Yeah. So it's like, for me, it's God. You
- 53:45know, I'm like, I surrender my will in my life over the care of
- 53:48God as I understand God, and then I ask God to use me as thou
- 53:51wilt. And I used to go use me as thou wilt. PS, I want a record
- 53:54deal, but that's yes. I have ideas. In case you're curious,
- 53:58yeah, in case you're too busy, I have a list,
- 54:02Karen Kenney: yes, in case you want to consult with me. Yeah,
- 54:05hey, I have some ideas. You know what? I mean? Yeah, I agree with
- 54:09everything you're saying,
- 54:11Unknown: and I liked something you said earlier. I don't think
- 54:14everybody needs a big, giant dream, right? What the hell is a
- 54:19big, giant dream anyway, right? It's, it's important that you
- 54:22have your dream. It's important that, because, guess what? Like
- 54:26I got here from years and years and years. I used to charge $20
- 54:30an hour for my readings. I thought that was I moved it to
- 54:3425 and I thought I was going to throw up because I thought that
- 54:36was too much, right? Like I came from, I mean, I didn't. I came
- 54:40from privilege prior to that, but then we lost everything, and
- 54:44I was I had poverty experiences too and like but for me, it was
- 54:48never about that. It was about feeling that I had my life had
- 54:51meaning, and that's really what all of us want. We want a life
- 54:55that's got meaning. We want love in our lives. We want to be in
- 54:59Karen Kenney: awe and. And gratitude, wonder and create and
- 55:01wonder.
- 55:02Unknown: Yeah, that's what I want to boil it down to. And I
- 55:05because I think we all got very complicated look at about right
- 55:10yeah, pretty fucked up right now.
- 55:13Karen Kenney: Let's just be the world is so fucked up right now.
- 55:16And which leads me back to something that you said, which I
- 55:19want to reiterate for people, and then I know I gotta let you
- 55:21go because you have a hot stop. But yeah, thanks. Yeah, you're
- 55:24welcome. Keeping up track of the time of yeah, if you see my eyes
- 55:26looking up, that's what I'm looking at. But when you are in
- 55:30a constant state of when the sympathetic nervous system right
- 55:33that fight and flight, I'm not teaching you, I'm just I'm
- 55:35saying this for the listeners, when you're in that constant
- 55:38fight or flight, where you're feeling triggered or activated
- 55:41or in fear or whatever, like something that you said, which
- 55:44is like, that's why you don't remember to do your EFT tapping
- 55:48and your 478, breath, and your havening and your stroking,
- 55:52right? Like all the tools, where the hell did you go? All the
- 55:57tools go out the window when you're when you're in that fear
- 56:00state. And one of the great things about this work is it
- 56:03literally turns on parasympathetic nervous system.
- 56:06It literally invites in the relaxation response without
- 56:10having to overthink it. It's like literally pick up a pen,
- 56:13pick up some paper, start to make the marks, and you
- 56:17literally just feel a shift inside of you. And for those of
- 56:20you who are listening, Colette and Anna are actually doing a
- 56:25live, immersive virtual experience on sun, Saturday,
- 56:29March 7, you can sign up for that. All her links will be in
- 56:33the show notes. You guys, you'll be able to find everything. But
- 56:36before I let you go, I just want to ask you, is there anything I
- 56:39didn't ask you that you wish I had anything I didn't bring up
- 56:42that you wish we had talked about.
- 56:43Unknown: I just think you're awesome. And I never come in
- 56:46here thinking that. I just believe that whatever comes out
- 56:49of our mouths is exactly what needed to come out. Yeah, me
- 56:52too.
- 56:52Karen Kenney: I trust. I trust. Okay, I just wanted to make sure
- 56:57you were amazing. I loved you. Thank you, sweetheart. I have
- 57:00coffee with you. I know, I know I'll have to find each other
- 57:04somehow. Look, our paths will cross in real life. I believe
- 57:08that. I believe that. But so you guys look at you. Got to get
- 57:11this book. I know so many of you already love all of her tarot
- 57:14cards, like the animal spirit ones. Yep, her book. Go get this
- 57:18sucker. We're both holding it up at the same time. Go get this
- 57:21second. It's so fantastic. Sign up for the Saturday March 7 if
- 57:26you want to experience this yourself, so you can have your
- 57:29own personal experience and see what I'm talking about. And it
- 57:32is. And as a yoga teacher, since like 1999 the embodied
- 57:37experience is what we're really looking for. And I'm telling
- 57:41you, if you, if you turn yourself over to the process, I
- 57:44believe that you, you will have a shift, and you will experience
- 57:47what we're talking about. It's not just like, like, just give
- 57:49it a try. Is all I'm saying. It's so cool. And is there your
- 57:53favorite way to have people contact you or connect with you
- 57:58Unknown: on Instagram, Facebook and Instagram and Facebook don't
- 58:03go to Tiktok. I mean, it's there, but whatever. I don't
- 58:06understand it. But yeah, Instagram, Facebook, my website,
- 58:10actually, if you sign into my newsletter, you get a bunch of
- 58:13free stuff there. And if you're interested, there's a free if
- 58:17you want to do it before you come to the event March 7. But
- 58:20if you go to Collette bear and read com forward slash book, if
- 58:24you get the book, you just have to put in your receipt. And you
- 58:26get a you get video stuff, you get all kinds of stuff that
- 58:29would help you. And fun. And it is. It's fun. I'm glad you kept
- 58:33saying it's
- 58:33Karen Kenney: wicked fun. Well, it is wicked fun. Look at the
- 58:37drawings, you know. And I will tell you this too, for those of
- 58:40you who are listening, go to, if you go to wherever, you can buy
- 58:45books online, right? I'm not going to say the name, but a lot
- 58:49of the reviews, people are also submitting next to the reviews.
- 58:52They're at work, and it's amazing. They are. I have a,
- 58:56yeah, I have, like, four pictures on my desktop right
- 58:58here. I was pulling them, and I have to look. Yeah, so the
- 59:01reviews have been lovely, and people are putting incredible
- 59:04pictures on there too. So you guys, if you want to check
- 59:06Unknown: it out, I don't like to look, in case. I understand, you
