- 0:00Steve Webb: The time is here. Here it is.
- 0:10From Riverside, California, this is the Lifespring family Audio
- 0:13Bible and podcasting since 2004. I'm your OG God caster, Steve
- 0:17Webb. This is the daily show where we're reading through the
- 0:20entire Bible in a year. And today is August 1, the first day
- 0:24of the last month of season 12 of the Lifespring family Audio
- 0:27Bible. And today, they're just 30 more episodes. More about
- 0:32that a little bit later. Today is Monday. So we're going to
- 0:35read from one of the books of the law. We're currently in the
- 0:37book of Deuteronomy, and we're going to read chapters 20
- 0:40through 22. I'm calling today's episode, there are two. The show
- 0:45notes page for today's episode is at Lifespring media.com/s 12
- 0:49e 334. My email address is Steve at Lifespring media.com. And I
- 0:54would love to hear from you. Let's get started.
- 0:58Deuteronomy chapter 20. When you go to war against your enemies,
- 1:03you may see horses, chariots and armies larger than yours. Don't
- 1:07be afraid of them because the Lord your God, who brought you
- 1:10out of Egypt will be with you. Before the battle starts, a
- 1:14priest must come and speak to the troops. He should tell them.
- 1:18Listen Israel, today you're going into battle against your
- 1:21enemies. Don't lose your courage. Don't be afraid or
- 1:25alarmed or tremble because of them. The Lord your God is going
- 1:29with you. He will fight for you against your enemies and give
- 1:32you victory. The officers should tell the troops if you have
- 1:37built a new house but not dedicated it, you may go home.
- 1:41Otherwise you might die in battle, and someone else will
- 1:44dedicate it. If you have planted a vineyard and not enjoyed the
- 1:47grapes, you may go home. Otherwise you might die in
- 1:51battle, and someone else will enjoy the grapes. If you are
- 1:55engaged to a woman but have not married her, you may go home.
- 1:58Otherwise you might die in battle and someone else will
- 2:01marry her. The officers should also tell the troops if you are
- 2:05afraid or have lost your courage you may go home, then you won't
- 2:09ruin the morale of the other Israelites. When the officers
- 2:12finished speaking to the troops, they should appoint commanders
- 2:15to lead them. When you approach a city to attack it, offer its
- 2:19people a peaceful way to surrender. If they accepted and
- 2:23open their gates to you than all the people there will be made to
- 2:26do forced labor and serve you. If they won't accept your offer
- 2:30of peace but declare war on you set up a blockade around the
- 2:33city. When the Lord your God hands the city over to you kill
- 2:37every man in that city with your swords. But take the women and
- 2:41children, the cattle and everything else in the city,
- 2:44including all its goods as your loot. You may enjoy your enemy's
- 2:48goods that the Lord your God has given you. This is what you must
- 2:52do to all the cities that are far away, which don't belong to
- 2:55the nations nearby. However, you must not spare anyone's life in
- 2:59the cities of these nations that the Lord your God is giving you
- 3:02is your property. You must claim the Hittites Amorites,
- 3:06Canaanites, parasites Hivites in Jebusites for the Lord and
- 3:10completely destroy them as the Lord your God has commanded you.
- 3:14Otherwise, they will teach you to do all the disgusting things
- 3:17they do for their gods, and you will sin against the LORD your
- 3:20God. This is what you must do whenever you blockade a city for
- 3:24a long time in order to capture it in war. Don't harm any of its
- 3:28fruit trees with an axe. You can eat the fruit, never cut those
- 3:33trees down. Because the trees of the field are not people you
- 3:36have come to block eight. You may destroy trees that you know
- 3:39are not fruit trees. You may cut them down and use them in
- 3:42blockades until you capture the city.
- 3:45Deuteronomy chapter 21. If a person has been killed and is
- 3:50found lying in a field in the land, the Lord your God is
- 3:53giving you for your own and it is not known who killed him.
- 3:56Then your leaders and judges will go out and see how far it
- 3:59is to the cities that are around the dead man. The leaders of the
- 4:03city that is nearest to the dead man will take a young cow from
- 4:05the cattle. The cow must never had been worked or pulled the
- 4:09plow. The leaders of that city will bring the young cow down to
- 4:13a valley with flowing water which has not been plowed or
- 4:15planted. They will break the cow's neck there in the valley.
- 4:19Then the religious leaders the sons of Levi will come near for
- 4:22the Lord your God has chosen them to serve Him and to bring
- 4:25good and the name of the Lord. Every question about what is
- 4:28right and every fight will be decided upon by them. All the
- 4:32leaders of that city nearest to the dead man will wash their
- 4:35hands over the young cow whose neck was broken in the valley.
- 4:38Then they will say our hands if not killed him. Our eyes have
- 4:42not seen it. Oh Lord, forgive your people Israel whom you have
- 4:46set free. Do not put the guilt of killing a man who did no
- 4:50wrong on your people Israel and they will be forgiven for the
- 4:53guilt of the man's death. So you must take away the guilt of
- 4:56taking the life of a good man by doing what is right in the eyes.
- 5:00Have the Lord. When you go to battle against those who hate
- 5:03you, and the Lord your God gives them to you, and you make them
- 5:06go with you. And you see a beautiful woman and have a
- 5:09desire for her as a wife, bring her home to your house. There
- 5:14she will cut off all the hair from her head and cut her nails.
- 5:17She will change the clothes she wore when you took her away and
- 5:20stay in your house. She will have sorrow for her father and
- 5:24mother for one month. After that you may go into her and be her
- 5:28husband, and she will be your wife. If you are not pleased
- 5:31with her, you should let her go wherever she wants, and do not
- 5:35sell her for money, or act as if she were a servant because you
- 5:38have put her to shame. If a man has two wives, one loved and the
- 5:43other not loved, and both the loved and the one not loved have
- 5:47born him sons. And if the firstborn son belongs to the
- 5:50wife who is not loved. On the Day when that man divides what
- 5:53he has for his sons, he cannot make the firstborn of his loved
- 5:57wife, the firstborn before the son of the wife who is not loved
- 6:00who is the firstborn, he must respect the firstborn, the son
- 6:05of the wife who is not loved by giving him twice the share of
- 6:08all he has. He is the beginning of his strength and the right of
- 6:12the firstborn belongs to him. If a man has a strong willed son
- 6:17who goes against him and does not obey his father or mother,
- 6:20and when they punish him, he will not even listen to them.
- 6:22Then his father and mother will take hold of him and bring him
- 6:25to the leaders of his city at the gate of his city. They will
- 6:29say to the leaders of his city, this son of ours is strong
- 6:32willed and goes against us. He will not obey us. He eats and
- 6:36drinks too much, then all the men of his city will kill him
- 6:40with stones. You must get rid of the sin from among you, all
- 6:44Israel will hear about it and be afraid. If a man has sinned and
- 6:49should be put to death and he is put to death and you hang him on
- 6:52a tree, his body must not hang all night on the tree, you
- 6:56should be sure to bury him on the same day. For he who hangs
- 7:00is cursed by God. So do not make your land unclean which the Lord
- 7:04your God is giving you
- 7:06Deuteronomy chapter 22. If you see another Israelites ox or
- 7:11sheep out where it doesn't belong, don't pretend that you
- 7:14don't see it. Make sure you take it back. If the owner doesn't
- 7:17live near you where you don't know who owns it, take the
- 7:20animal home with you. Keep it until the owner comes looking
- 7:23for it. Then give it back. Do the same if you find a donkey,
- 7:28some clothes or anything else that another Israelite may have
- 7:31lost. Don't pretend that you don't know what to do. If you
- 7:35see another Israelites donkey or ox lying on the ground, don't
- 7:38pretend that you don't see it. Make sure you help him get back
- 7:41on his feet. A woman must never wear anything men would wear and
- 7:46a man must never wear women's clothes. Whoever does this is
- 7:49disgusting to the Lord your God. Whenever you're traveling and
- 7:53find a nest containing chicks or eggs, this is what you must do.
- 7:58If the mother bird is sitting on the nest, never take her with
- 8:01the chicks. You may take the chicks, but make sure you let
- 8:04the mother go, then things will go well for you and you will
- 8:07live a long time. Whenever you build a new house, put a railing
- 8:12around the edge of the roof, then you won't be responsible
- 8:15for a death at your home. If someone falls off the roof.
- 8:19Never plant anything between the rows of your vineyard.
- 8:22Otherwise, you will have to give everything that grows there to
- 8:25the holy place. This includes the crop the planet and the
- 8:29grapes from the vineyard. Never plow with an ox and a donkey
- 8:33harnessed together. Never wear clothes made of wool and linen
- 8:37woven together. Make tassels on the four corners of the shawl
- 8:41you wear over your clothes. A man might marry a woman sleep
- 8:46with her and decide he doesn't like her. Then he might make up
- 8:49charges against her and ruin her reputation by saying I married
- 8:53this woman but when I slept with her, I found out she wasn't a
- 8:56virgin. The girl's father and mother must go to the city gate
- 9:00where the leaders of the city are and submit the evidence that
- 9:03their daughter was a virgin. The girl's father will tell the
- 9:07leaders I gave my daughter in marriage to this man but he
- 9:10doesn't like her. Now he's made up charges against her. He says
- 9:14he found out that my daughter wasn't a virgin. But here's the
- 9:17evidence. Then the girl's parents must spread out the
- 9:20cloth in front of the leaders of the city. The leaders of that
- 9:24city must take the man and punish him. They will find him
- 9:27two and a quarter pounds of silver and give it to the girl's
- 9:30father. The husband ruin the reputation of an Israelite
- 9:33virgin. She will continue to be his wife and he can never
- 9:37divorce her as long as he lives. But if the charge is true, and
- 9:42no evidence that the girl was a virgin can be found. They must
- 9:45take the girl to the entrance of her father's house. The men of
- 9:48her city must stone her to death because she has committed such a
- 9:51godless act in Israel. She had sex before marriage while she
- 9:56was still living in her father's house. You must get rid of this
- 9:59evil. If a man is caught having sexual intercourse with a
- 10:03married woman, both that man and the woman must die, you must get
- 10:08rid of this evil in Israel. This is what you must do when a man
- 10:12has sexual intercourse with a virgin who was engaged to
- 10:14another man. If this happens in his city, take them to the gate
- 10:19of the city and stone them to death. The girl must die because
- 10:22she was in a city and didn't scream for help. The man must
- 10:26die because he had sex with another man's wife, you must get
- 10:29rid of this evil. But if a man rapes an engaged girl out in the
- 10:33country, then only the man must die. Don't do anything to the
- 10:37girl. She has not committed a sin for which she deserves to
- 10:40die. This is like the case of someone who attacks and murders
- 10:44another person. The man found the girl out in the country, she
- 10:48may have screamed for help, but no one was there to rescue her.
- 10:52This is what you must do when a man rapes of virgin who isn't
- 10:55engaged. When the crime is discovered. The man who had
- 10:58sexual intercourse with her must give the girl's father one and a
- 11:02quarter pounds of silver, and she will become his wife. Since
- 11:05he raped her, he can never divorce her as long as he lives.
- 11:10A man must never marry his father's wife because this would
- 11:13disgrace his father.
- 11:16I'm going to talk about Deuteronomy 22. Today, have you
- 11:20ever heard the phrase fools rush in where angels fear to tread? I
- 11:24don't think I'm a fool. But if I am, so be it. You know, every so
- 11:28often current events and or cultural conditions can't help
- 11:32but influence my commentary on the day's reading. This is
- 11:36obviously not a political or a news show. And I do dislike
- 11:39participating in political speech on this show. And as a
- 11:42matter of fact, I don't think that what I'm going to say is
- 11:45political because I'm only going to talk about what the Word of
- 11:48God says. But some might want to paint today's episode with a
- 11:53political label, whatever, when I'm about to talk about needs to
- 11:57be addressed, especially with what's going on in our current
- 12:01culture. Genesis 1:27 says, so God created humans in his image,
- 12:09in the image of God, He created them, He created them male and
- 12:13female, and dropping down just a couple of verses, Genesis 1:31
- 12:17says, And God saw everything that He had made, in that it was
- 12:22very good. Deuteronomy 22:5, that we read today says, A woman
- 12:29must never wear anything men would wear, and a man must never
- 12:33wear women's clothes. Whoever does this is disgusting to the
- 12:38Lord your God. Now, listen, I am not a trans folk. I do not hate
- 12:44people of either sex if they disagree with me or with
- 12:47scripture, and I'm certainly not afraid of them. That is what
- 12:51phobia means. You know that right? The reason I'm talking to
- 12:55you about this today, my motivation on everything that I
- 12:59ever say on this show is to explain the scriptures in such a
- 13:02way that the true nature of God is revealed. I believe that when
- 13:06he is properly understood, people's hearts will be changed,
- 13:11and eternal lives will be saved. Failing that, my hope is that
- 13:16there will at least be an understanding and maybe even
- 13:19less antipathy. Now, when these scriptures were written, it was
- 13:23common for men and women to wear clothes that were similar. Both
- 13:27sexes wore long robes but with distinctive styles that
- 13:31differentiated between the sexes. Deuteronomy 22, five was
- 13:35a command not to blur the lines between the sexes, or to
- 13:39purposely dress in the manner of the opposite sex. You see, as
- 13:44Genesis 127 says, God created only two sexes, male and female.
- 13:51There is not a spectrum. It's either one or the other. Now
- 13:55before you say, but Steve, some people are born with the organs
- 13:59of both. Well, yes, I know that's true. But listen, we live
- 14:03in a world that is suffering the effects of sin. Ever since Adam
- 14:07and Eve sinned, all of creation has been under a curse. Romans
- 14:11822 says, All creation groans. Every living thing on the planet
- 14:16is less than God intended it to be. Humans were not meant to
- 14:20die. Humans were not meant to be born with any kind of defects.
- 14:25And there was not supposed to be any disease. Every system on the
- 14:29planet is not what God originally intended. The weather
- 14:33isn't even the way God intended it to be. Earthquakes weren't
- 14:36supposed to be something we worried about. Everything is
- 14:39broken. Sin ruined everything, including how we think about
- 14:43ourselves and each other. Birth defects do happen. And when a
- 14:48baby is born with a defect, it isn't because God made it
- 14:51happen. It's because of the condition of the world. It's
- 14:55because of sin, not the sin of the parents. It's just the
- 14:58effect of everything on the planet. Creation groans,
- 15:01remember? Yes, God does allow bad things to happen, but he is
- 15:05not the cause of bad things happening. Well, couldn't he
- 15:09just step in and stop bad things from happening? You ask? Well,
- 15:12sometimes he does. But other times he doesn't. The thing we
- 15:16have to remember about God is He is sovereign, which means that
- 15:20he does what he does. And he answers only to himself. But no,
- 15:24this his way is perfect. Deuteronomy 32 Four says, He is
- 15:30the rock, his works are perfect. And all His ways are just a
- 15:34faithful God who does no wrong, upright and justice he, beloved,
- 15:41one day, everyone who has ever been born will see the truth of
- 15:44that and acknowledge it. So back to the subject at hand. God says
- 15:49that it's wrong to dress in the manner of the opposite sex. Why?
- 15:53Well, because for one thing, it is rebellion against his will.
- 15:56If he created you, as a male, he wants you to be a male. If he
- 16:01created you, as a female, he wants you to be a female. God
- 16:05truly does love you and he has a marvelous plan for your life. He
- 16:09wants the very best for you. And to reject that plan is really
- 16:13cutting off your nose to spite your face. I've said it many
- 16:17times here on this show. God's laws are not given to take our
- 16:20fun away. He's not a cosmic killjoy. He is a loving Father
- 16:24who knows what is best for us. But there is an enemy. He's
- 16:29called Lucifer, Satan, the devil, the god of this world and
- 16:33many other names in the Bible. His mission from the beginning
- 16:37of the creation has been to pervert God's creation, and keep
- 16:41people from having a relationship with God. He takes
- 16:44what is beautiful, and he perverts it. What we're seeing
- 16:48in our culture today with a blurring of sexual boundaries
- 16:51and distinctions is really nothing new, as is evident by
- 16:53the fact that God talks about it here in Deuteronomy 22. people
- 16:57today think that they're being progressive by advancing this
- 17:00agenda. They're not progressive. They're puppets of Satan. The
- 17:05good news is that their sin can be forgiven. God said and
- 17:09Ezekiel 1823, do I take any pleasure in the death of the
- 17:13wicked declares the Sovereign Lord, rather, am I not pleased
- 17:17when they turn from their ways and live? And second Peter three
- 17:21nine tells us, The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as
- 17:25some understand slowness. Instead, he's patient with you
- 17:28not wanting anyone to perish, but for everyone to come to
- 17:32repentance. What is repentance, repentance is turning away from
- 17:38or going in an entirely new direction. It is agreeing with
- 17:42God that I have sinned, that I want to begin living as he wants
- 17:47me to, that I acknowledged that his way is better than my way.
- 17:52But listen, I can't do it on my own. It's impossible for me to
- 17:57live a perfect life. Only one man has ever done that, and his
- 18:00name is Jesus. But Jesus is more than a man he is also God. He is
- 18:06fully God and fully human. And he is the only way that I or
- 18:11anyone else can have a restored relationship with God. John 316,
- 18:17to 21 says, For God so loved the world that He gave His one and
- 18:21only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have
- 18:25eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to
- 18:29condemn the world, but to save the world through him, whoever
- 18:34believes in Him is not condemned. But whoever does not
- 18:37believe stands condemned already, because they have not
- 18:41believed in the name of God's one and only son. This is the
- 18:45verdict. Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness
- 18:49instead of light, because their deeds were evil. Everyone who
- 18:53does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for
- 18:57fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by
- 19:01the truth comes into the light so that it may be seen plainly
- 19:06that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
- 19:10Listen carefully. God loves you, and He loves you enough to give
- 19:15you free will. You have to decide the time is now. If you
- 19:20have not yet accepted the free gift of salvation that Jesus is
- 19:24offering you today, you can do it now. The simple fact is you
- 19:29may not have tomorrow, the lovely lady Liana and I were
- 19:33reminded recently how quickly our lives could be snuffed out
- 19:36with no warning. We were involved in a hit and run
- 19:40traffic accident and believe me, there was absolutely no time to
- 19:43think about what was happening. We were driving along a street
- 19:47that we'd been on literally 1000s of times before just a
- 19:50little more than two miles from our home. When all of a sudden
- 19:54there was a terrible crashing sound of metal against metal.
- 19:57Our car shook and I had to wrestle the steering wheel to
- 20:00keep control. LeeAnn screamed and I watched the car that had
- 20:04sideswiped us accelerate down the road in front of us. Praise
- 20:07the Lord, we were not hurt, but we could have been, because
- 20:10instead of rear ending our car, he sideswiped us, he missed rear
- 20:14ending our car by just inches. The point is, you never know how
- 20:19or when your life will be over. When you make the decision now
- 20:23to follow Jesus, if you want to have a changed life, a change in
- 20:27eternity, let me lead you in a prayer where you'll tell God
- 20:31that you want to turn from your sin, and that you want to follow
- 20:34Jesus, Will you pray with me? Now once I publish this podcast,
- 20:39I don't know who will hear it, where they'll hear it or when
- 20:42they'll hear it. I still have episodes from almost 18 years
- 20:46ago up at Lifespring media.com. And they get listened to. And I
- 20:49have no idea how many episodes are on hard drives all over the
- 20:53world. So whether you're hearing this on the day that I publish
- 20:56it, or days, weeks, months or years later, this invitation is
- 21:00for you to hear right now, as you're listening to my voice.
- 21:05Decide now that this is the day to have your eternity changed.
- 21:10Would you pray with me? Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you
- 21:14now confessing my sins. I know that I have not lived the way I
- 21:19should. And I asked you to forgive me now. Thank you for
- 21:25sending your son Jesus to take my sins upon himself. Jesus, I'm
- 21:33asking you to be my Lord and my Savior. Now. Show me how I
- 21:38should live. Teach me, help me to follow you. Thank you for
- 21:44hearing my prayer. Lord, I pray this in Jesus name. Amen. If you
- 21:51prayed that prayer, welcome to the family, you might have felt
- 21:54like a weight was lifted from you, you might have felt some
- 21:57strong emotion, or you might have felt nothing. Whatever you
- 22:01felt, that's okay. Our relationship with God is not
- 22:05based on emotions. Our relationship with God is based
- 22:08on his promise. And God promised that anyone who accepts Jesus
- 22:13will be saved. If you accepted Jesus just now and you meant it,
- 22:18you are saved because God promised it and he always keeps
- 22:21his promise. Now, if you did just pray that prayer with me,
- 22:26I've got to get for you. It's free. I want to send you a
- 22:28special edition of the New Testament called the new
- 22:31believers Bible. All you have to do is send me a quick email with
- 22:35your name and address so I can mail it to you at my expense.
- 22:39This New Testament has hundreds and hundreds of notes in it by
- 22:42Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Church written with new
- 22:45believers in mind, this New Testament with all these notes
- 22:49is meant to help you get a good start in your walk with God.
- 22:52Now, when I get your email, I'm not going to put you on a list.
- 22:55And I'm not going to send you any spam. I just want to send
- 22:58you this New Testament. And I would like to pray for you. And
- 23:01if you've got questions, I'll answer anything that I can for
- 23:04you. send that email to Steve at Lifespring media.com. And God
- 23:09bless you welcome to the family of God. Not to mention Welcome
- 23:13to the Lifespring family. If you have a comment on today's show,
- 23:16let me know go to Lifespring media.com/s 12 e 334. Boost
- 23:27A donation just came in from a very, very long time. Lifespring
- 23:31family member from the UK Robert said in $10.42. Now I'm sure
- 23:36there's a meaning with that number, but I've got to confess
- 23:38that I'm not getting it from Robert send me an email, let me
- 23:41know. I think the first time Robert donated was way back in
- 23:44December of 2015. So Robert, thank you so much for being
- 23:48around for so long. And for your support. God bless you. And I
- 23:52got a couple of booster grams yesterday for episode 333.
- 23:56Actually, this booster gram came in from Sean of San Pedro the
- 24:01day before yesterday, he said in 3333 SATs and he said I just saw
- 24:07reminder in the newsletter of the obvious episode number
- 24:10coming up tomorrow. Congrats on 333 shows this season and I'm on
- 24:15pins and needles for Monday's announcement. Oh Shawn, you're
- 24:19about to hear it. Thank you for that booster gram. And this
- 24:22morning, I got 3333 SATs from John and he said boosting 3333
- 24:29while streaming 333 cents per minute for episode 333. God
- 24:34bless that John. Thank you for all those threes. And for the
- 24:38booster gram and the SATs. God bless you
- 24:50Okay, so on the last couple of episodes I told you that I had
- 24:54an announcement to make today. The time is here. Here it is, as
- 24:59you know by now now this season of the Lifespring family Audio
- 25:02Bible is going to be ending on August 31 of this year, just 30
- 25:07days away. The announcement is this season 12 will be the last
- 25:13season of the show. After that there will be no more new
- 25:16episodes of The Lifespring family Audio Bible. And it may
- 25:19be and I emphasize may be the last episode of the podcast
- 25:25career that began when God called me to create the world's
- 25:28first Christian podcast in late 2004. Let me explain, it truly
- 25:33has been one of my greatest joys to do as God called me to do all
- 25:38those years ago. If you want the details, you can find them on
- 25:41the about page at Lifespring media.com. But the bottom line
- 25:44is that when God called me, he said just three words, proclaim
- 25:49My name. And I've tried to do that on every episode that I
- 25:53have ever produced, whether for this show, or any of the other
- 25:57shows at Lifespring media.com. But after these last two seasons
- 26:01of this show, producing a show a day for two years, with just a
- 26:05two month hiatus between the two seasons, I gotta say I'm tired,
- 26:09more than tired, really, I'll be 68 this month and sitting at
- 26:13this desk and behind this microphone for the many hours it
- 26:17takes to study, to write, to record, to edit, and to publish
- 26:21this show, literally every day for two years. Well, it's taken
- 26:26a toll on my health. I honestly cannot do a daily show anymore.
- 26:31Now let me hasten to say that this season season 12 has been
- 26:35the best year I have ever had in podcasting. And it is you who
- 26:40have made it the best. We have had more back and forth, there
- 26:45has been more engagement than ever before. And it has been so
- 26:49exciting and so rewarding and thrilling and just heartwarming
- 26:53to get to know you. You've written notes of encouragement,
- 26:56and many of you have given donations to help pay the bills.
- 27:00There's the Lifespring family team Kirsty shot of San Pedro
- 27:03and Denise, this has been an amazing year. And I love you for
- 27:07all that you've done. And right now I'm asking all of you.
- 27:12That's all that's every single person all of you whether or not
- 27:16you have interacted with me ever before. I'm asking you one more
- 27:19thing, just one, if you got your ears on, I said that the August
- 27:2431 Episode may be the last episode of my podcast career.
- 27:29Whether it is the last episode depends on you. And when I say
- 27:35you, I don't mean the collective you. I mean, you listening to me
- 27:40right now in August of 2020 to you in your car right now, you
- 27:45doing chores around the house, you doing whatever it is you're
- 27:49doing right now, I need this from you. If there is a podcast
- 27:54that you would like me to create, or if you have an idea
- 27:57for a show, email me at Steve at Lifespring media.com. And tell
- 28:02me what you're thinking, I am willing to continue podcasting,
- 28:06but I just can't do it every day. Most podcasts are weekly,
- 28:10some a couple of episodes a week, some are one or two a
- 28:13month, very, very few are daily shows. But if there is something
- 28:17that you would like to hear me do, please let me know. And
- 28:21listen, as I said, I need to hear from each and every one of
- 28:25you every individual listening right now, even if you don't
- 28:29have an idea for a show, just say, Steve, you've had a good
- 28:32run, but go ahead and turn off the mic. Or say, Steve, I don't
- 28:36have a specific idea. But I just don't want you to quit
- 28:38podcasting or whatever. Just tell me what you're thinking. I
- 28:44was talking with my friend Ron Ploof and his wife a couple of
- 28:46weeks ago, telling them that I was really in a quandary about
- 28:49whether to hang it up at the end of the season. And then I was
- 28:52thinking of asking the Lifespring family for your input
- 28:55in Ron's wife said, you could take their ideas and then do one
- 28:59idea one week and another idea the next week and so on sort of
- 29:03an ask Steve thing. I liked that idea. Maybe I'll do just that.
- 29:08But I don't know. So even if you don't think that your idea would
- 29:12be appropriate for a whole separate podcast of an
- 29:15indeterminate amount of episodes, maybe it would be good
- 29:18for one or two episodes. I mean, if you're interested, chances
- 29:21are other people would be too. And the reason I want in need
- 29:26all of you to participate in this exercise is because I need
- 29:30to know how much interest is there. If there's a lot of
- 29:33interest, great. But if there's not a lot of interest, that's
- 29:37okay, too. I'm at the time of my life where there are things I do
- 29:40want to do. Leanne has several projects that she's been
- 29:44patiently waiting for me to do for her. And I've got some
- 29:47hobbies that I've put on the backburner for too long. I've
- 29:50got grandkids I want to spend time with them. There are things
- 29:54I do want to do but this is a big but as a servant of Jesus,
- 30:00my life is not my own. He bought me with a price I belong to Him.
- 30:05And it is him that I willingly serve. If now is not the time to
- 30:09turn off the Lifespring medium microphone I will willingly and
- 30:12happily keep right on going along. I just can't do the daily
- 30:16thing anymore, then I feel completely at ease with that
- 30:19decision. I believe the Lord has released me from that part of my
- 30:23call. But listen, Christians don't retire. As long as God
- 30:27keeps us here. He has a job for us. I'll always do something for
- 30:31the Lord. Maybe I'll be a podcaster until I can no longer
- 30:34speak, maybe only until August 31. But please tell me what you
- 30:39would like to see me do. Please make it a matter of prayer.
- 30:43Listen to the Lord and tell me what you come away with. I'm
- 30:47serious. Sometimes God speaks through godly people. And I
- 30:51truly do want to do whatever it is he wants my next step to be.
- 30:56Send an email to me it Steve at Lifespring media.com. I'm going
- 31:01to be taking your email all month long. But please don't
- 31:04wait till the end of the month. Also in your subject line put
- 31:07the next step so it doesn't get put into my spam folder. So
- 31:11that's it. That's the announcement. This is the last
- 31:14season of the Lifespring family Audio Bible and perhaps it'll be
- 31:17the last podcast. I don't know. I need to hear from you. Steve
- 31:21at Lifespring media.com subject line, THE NEXT STEP.
- 31:37On this date in church history, August 1 1953, British literary
- 31:43scholar and Christian apologist CS Lewis wrote in a letter on
- 31:46this date, how little people know who think that holiness is
- 31:50doll, when one meets the real thing, it is irresistible.
- 32:03Prayer requests and praises. Here's a praise for yet KathI is
- 32:07at Del and KathI's daughter's home and she has a strong
- 32:10appetite. So that's great. It's been a long time since she had
- 32:14any appetite at all. So praise God for that. Let's pray. Our
- 32:18heavenly Father, Lord, we thank You for Your Word. And we thank
- 32:21you for teaching us and I pray, Lord, that what we learned from
- 32:24Deuteronomy today and my comments about it would be
- 32:28received in the manner that it was given in love, your will for
- 32:32us as always, for our benefit. And I pray that if there is
- 32:35anyone listening now that have not asked Jesus to be their
- 32:38Lord, that they would do that now. Thank you for continuing to
- 32:43bring strength to KathI and I pray that you would complete her
- 32:46healing, and bless Christi and her husband for opening their
- 32:49house for KathI and be with Dallas. He's up the hill by
- 32:52himself. And bless the Lifespring family. Lord, I pray
- 32:56that you would meet the needs that each one has. And Father, I
- 32:59asked you to speak to them about what you want me to do once this
- 33:02season is over. Give them your thoughts. Lord, I pray, I pray
- 33:06this all in Jesus name. Amen. If you have a prayer request or a
- 33:10praise, please go to prayer dot Lifespring media.com.
- 33:22Please do remember to give some thought and prayer to the
- 33:24question of what you'd like me to do once this season is over.
- 33:28And then email your thoughts to me at Steve at Lifespring
- 33:30media.com with the words the next step in the subject line.
- 33:34Very important. The next step comment on this show and

- 34:01And beloved thank you for the honor of being with you today. I
- 34:04appreciate it. It's good to see you. Are you glad the show is
