- 0:04MBR talk. Hey, thanks for supporting our
- 0:07channel by watching and listening find.
- 0:10Us on the web at NB Radio. Dot US.
- 0:14Yeah, and why I bought them and why I built.
- 0:17Waters up your vanilla gorilla, Big dog, another sunsibles.
- 0:42and if nobody at home knows who this guy is, this is the big
- 0:45dog. And he did get a tip from the
- 0:48Brooklyn prodigies earlier on. We had travel issues, but.
- 1:01But Yo-yo, yo, what is up?
- 1:50What is up? Happy Sunday, Happy fun day.
- 1:53It is I the big dog. We got the vanilla gorilla, we
- 2:00got the OG, and we are turnbuckles of Stogie's Pie live
- 2:07on all streaming networks and. Let me tell you, here we go.
- 2:11So you guys? Got a We got a great show today.
- 2:14It's going to be awesome. No pun intended.
- 2:17No pun intended. We are literally no pun
- 2:20intended. Talk about.
- 2:23OG is frozen. OG you're frozen.
- 2:28Hello. No, the OG froze so we will up
- 2:39there. He is.
- 2:41He's back now, so. Let's start with last night for
- 2:50those that watched ACW. For those who for those who have
- 2:56the benefit of having thriller and paid the 799 because you
- 3:03definitely you got your money's worth last night, even with all
- 3:08the the travel mishaps with Richard Holiday and with even
- 3:16without the travel mishaps with Mance Warner, Richard Holiday,
- 3:21Dante Casanova. Yes, they couldn't make.
- 3:25It I mean, you know, that was that's what happens.
- 3:31Bart is always subject to change just like this podcast, but
- 3:41there was definitely a lot of re working of the match card.
- 3:47I thought they did a great job the whole team over there
- 3:51thinking quick and on their feet even though they probably knew
- 3:54earlier in the day. But to rearrange that whole card
- 3:57and still put out insane match after insane match after insane
- 4:02match after insane match from top to bottom, I think
- 4:08personally is a big, big, big testament to the behind the
- 4:14scenes. Screw the agents, the producers,
- 4:17the guys running the show from Gorilla, whoever that is, to the
- 4:22talent in the back. Being able to, at a moment's
- 4:24notice, just switch up and and have a completely different
- 4:30opponent or opponents is a testament to what those guys do.
- 4:37So let's start with the first match.
- 4:41Which was limo, limo. And I don't think it's, I don't
- 4:46think it's limo, limo. Something like that.
- 4:50Yeah. That was the funniest beginning
- 4:54of a show, excuse me, that I've ever seen.
- 5:01He came out there, he did his thing, and everything he said
- 5:08was Yup, Yup. Yeah, lame.
- 5:11O that's what he does. So shout out to Lamo, he did a
- 5:16great job with the real 1. He's he's shown out a lot in
- 5:19ACW. He's.
- 5:20Shown out a lot at Borderman from Dublin.
- 5:23No, actually he moved to the US, right?
- 5:25But he moved. From Dublin to New York City to
- 5:29pursue his dream. And he's pursuing his.
- 5:31Dream and he's doing a great job at it too.
- 5:34So shout out to. Yes, Lamo and.
- 5:38And the real one, obviously the real one went over.
- 5:43So that was a great match. Let's get to match #2 which was
- 5:49the women. Was it the women's battle royal
- 5:52I. Think it was the woman.
- 5:53'S Hold on, let me see because I I should have pulled this up.
- 5:55This is on me. So it was a great show.
- 6:06Shout out to my boy Sal Graziano with his with his wrestling
- 6:10shirt that was actually. A really nice shirt.
- 6:12I texted him why it was on, why it was on TVI said.
- 6:14Bro, that's a nice shirt. He goes and you're the winner.
- 6:18That was you're the winner. Listen, that was.
- 6:21So we had to pay 799, but that's because Thriller knew that they
- 6:27can get them. So yeah.
- 6:29So you had so just a a kind of rundown of the new, this isn't
- 6:36the updated card, but they had to do some some reworking.
- 6:41What's the second match? I believe the second match is
- 6:45the hardcore match with Crowbar and Crowbar.
- 6:49Crowbar Fox Viner because they're supposed to be Crowbar
- 6:54and Mance, but Mance couldn't make it again.
- 6:57Box Viner. The Beast, Josepher and and
- 7:03there's one other person. Who the hell is the other
- 7:06person? Hold on, I'm just going to pull
- 7:10up the pictures. It'll tell me.
- 7:13There's a video from last night that I do want to show you guys
- 7:16though the Huw wrestling card. I got it right here.
- 7:22There is no card. You're not going to find the
- 7:23exact card. You're going to find the old
- 7:24card. That's fine.
- 7:26But they weren't all on that card.
- 7:32Not after Zach Clayton. He couldn't be there either.
- 7:35Yep, Yeah, there was. I don't know if it was due to
- 7:41travel restrictions because of the the wildfires or or what it
- 7:47was. But they live in Jersey.
- 7:48Even his wife. It was you had Killer Cross, you
- 7:51had Matt Riddle, you had Leo Sparrow and Fear, which would
- 7:58have probably been, which would have been the second match.
- 8:00It was Leo Sparrow versus Fear from the company in Chile that
- 8:03they partnered with. And, and just so you all know,
- 8:06I've never seen this guy Fear. He's from Chile and he's a great
- 8:12wrestler and shout out to him. He won the ACW title, the
- 8:17cruiserweight champion. So he is the second
- 8:21cruiserweight champion in ACW. Then out of that match, which
- 8:30that match was fantastic. I, I definitely thought it was
- 8:33an opportunity for both guys to showcase what they can do,
- 8:39showcase the cruiserweight division for ACW that it is a
- 8:42viable, you know, division there that a lot of companies don't
- 8:47have any more. It's a lost division, but it's
- 8:53it's that division is building up fear coming out of Chile and
- 8:58coming here. I don't know much about him.
- 9:01That's not saying he's not great at what he does, because he is.
- 9:05I haven't. I didn't know that there was a
- 9:07wrestling company in Chile until ACW signed a partnership deal
- 9:11with them. So now what that does is that
- 9:15gives their cruiserweight title a global expansion into Chile
- 9:20and South America. Now, now fear the way he the
- 9:28face paint, the the all black attire kind of reminds me of
- 9:37Vampiro from the later days of WCW.
- 9:41That's kind of what he reminds me of.
- 9:44And I said that last night, but I'm I I think it's a great
- 9:47gimmick. I think it's something that is
- 9:50going to go a long way, especially here, you know, and
- 9:53and doing what he does. I'm excited to see where they go
- 9:57with this now. After that was the Ten Women
- 10:05Battle Royal, which featured N.W.A top independent stars,
- 10:13stars from Chile. You had Shotsy, Indy Brook
- 10:18Havoc. You had the girl from N.W.A.
- 10:27Geez, the the the list of people in that match.
- 10:30Bro that list was so long I. Forgot Indy, Hartwell, Lady
- 10:34Frost, Vicki, Venuto, I don't have it all in front of me as
- 10:41far as name wise, but I mean all those women put on an absolutely
- 10:48fantastic, fantastic showing in that battle Royale.
- 10:53Shout out to Schatzi, I was cheeking up and beating her best
- 10:59friend. Well, and The thing is too is,
- 11:01you know, that whole match, that whole thing was that whole match
- 11:07really was absolutely spectacular.
- 11:09Again, you know, with all the travel issues that they had when
- 11:14promoting this card, you know, with with losing Dante Casanova
- 11:18to travel, restrict your travel issues, losing Mance Warner to
- 11:23travel issues. He was supposed to fly up and he
- 11:27actually had to put out a tweet that he couldn't make it and he
- 11:30was still 8 hours from Florida. So he wouldn't have even been
- 11:34able to drive up to the show because he would have missed it.
- 11:40So you lost Mance Warner to travel, you lost Richard Holiday
- 11:45to travel because he was in Detroit, and then you lost Dante
- 11:51Casanova to travel. And then Danny Doring, I want to
- 11:55say, might have been travel or something came up.
- 11:57He couldn't make it because it was supposed to be the
- 12:00cruiserweight match, was originally scheduled to be Danny
- 12:02Doring, Leo Sparrow and Fear. Danny couldn't make weight.
- 12:09That's what they said. So from there, you know, it
- 12:13became a singles match and then you went to the women's match,
- 12:15which again, they had a nice balance of men's matches and
- 12:19women's matches on the card. You know, you had the women's
- 12:23title on the on the line later on in the card.
- 12:26We'll get to that. But this this this card.
- 12:32Was this whole? They, they, they always put on a
- 12:36great show and a fantastic show and a top of the line program.
- 12:41But to have that many, you know, restrictions due to travel and
- 12:49still be able to rework everything and put on an
- 12:55absolutely stellar card with all of those key components missing
- 13:01is a testament to their backstage team, their booking
- 13:06team, their agents that they can, you know, OK, let's let's
- 13:11move these guys and from this match and put them here.
- 13:14Put this here. You had, you know, like yet it
- 13:18was supposed to be Dante Casanova and Soleil versus the
- 13:26righteous. Dante Casanova couldn't make it.
- 13:29They put LSG in his place. And then because Richard Holiday
- 13:33couldn't make it, Elias or Elijah walked with the Righteous
- 13:40and then they put K they brought out KC Navarro to team with
- 13:44Soleil and LSG against, you know, Elijah and the righteous.
- 13:49I mean there was the amount of stuff that they were able to
- 13:53pull off was outrageous and still put on a top tier
- 13:59phenomenal card. That honestly shows that they
- 14:04can still that their wrestling is still wanted in that
- 14:08building. So let's get to.
- 14:13The next one would have been the hardcore match, which was
- 14:16Crowbar, Fox, Viner Yusifer. And I'll tell you right now
- 14:20because I actually pulled up. Pictures.
- 14:22So bottom line is it was a great match and obviously pro ball 1.
- 14:28Yep, Fox Viner Yusifer, Ricky Price, that's who it was so.
- 14:32Crowbar 1. So let's get to the next one
- 14:35because I want to hold up our partners.
- 14:37The next one would have been the righteous and Casey Navarro and
- 14:44Soleil and Elijah that was. I don't know who Soleil is.
- 14:48Soleil is. Soleil was in WWE under the
- 14:53name. He was with OTM for a while,
- 14:56then they moved him off of the managers of OTM and put him as
- 14:59Scripps. Then they put him as Sidney.
- 15:03Then he went on the Indies when he came back out and he was
- 15:07Sidney Akeem for a while. And now he's found, as they put
- 15:10it last night, his new spirit animal.
- 15:13Well, that was his spirit animal when he first started.
- 15:15Is so late. Yes.
- 15:18So now he's under a mask. You haven't seen him wrestle
- 15:22without a mask anywhere. He's still doing phenomenal
- 15:26things, pulling off phenomenal feats that these guys shouldn't
- 15:33be doing. I just realized we can't see the
- 15:37comments because I had to go bigger.
- 15:38Well. We don't have comments.
- 15:39Let's go back. So, yeah, I mean that.
- 15:44Then from there you went to the women's match, I believe for the
- 15:51title, which was which was J Rod versus Steph Delander.
- 15:54Again, an absolutely banger match.
- 15:58Obviously, Steph Delander retained the title and she
- 16:04almost lost it due to shots. He's interference, but Steph
- 16:08wins, Steph retains, and now you go into Mischief Night on
- 16:13October 18th. Which will be there.
- 16:16You go to Mischief Night on October 18th with Schatzi, Black
- 16:20Heart and Steph Delander for the women's title.
- 16:25Shout out to Barton's Orchard. That'll be August, August 18th,
- 16:31something like that. I think it's like.
- 16:32Wednesday Orchard It's a Wednesday night.
- 16:34Get your tickets. They're not.
- 16:36Oh yeah, they're. Going to be live in Barton's
- 16:38Orchard. Tickets aren't that expensive.
- 16:40Joey went last year. So it cost me like 50 something
- 16:45dollars to go right, But it's 50 bucks.
- 16:47That's not a problem. So after the women's match came.
- 16:54Would have been the shock of the night was would have been Tommy
- 17:01Dreamer versus Josh Shernoff in the Lumberjack match.
- 17:08That match was a great match. I missed the.
- 17:14Ending it started off. It started off very, I guess you
- 17:20would call it hot and heavy because the scent to slaughter
- 17:25came out with churn off and then the now came out and Victoria
- 17:29got off of his crutches, handed one to his partner to hail and
- 17:35they went down there and basically laid waste to send to
- 17:38slaughter for almost the entire match.
- 17:40And then all of a sudden I come back from going to the bathroom
- 17:43and taking care of my wife and Tommy.
- 17:45Jim is giving a. Speech.
- 17:46Well, yeah, because I know, but you're skipping the key parts.
- 17:50Sorry. And then, you know, the match
- 17:54goes on. Tommy's getting ready to win.
- 17:59Danny Moff gets on the apron to grab Josh Shirnoff.
- 18:03Victoria comes up with the kendo stick.
- 18:05He kicks Moth and as he goes to swing Moth moved.
- 18:11He hits Dreamer across the back. Dreamer happens to fall and
- 18:16Chernoff falls on top of him for the three count.
- 18:21And Tommy Dreamer can no longer wrestle in the MJN center.
- 18:26And one thing about Tommy Dreamer is Tommy is a man of his
- 18:29word. That's one thing I understand.
- 18:32But guess what? That's one thing cards are
- 18:35subject to change. But correct OG yeah cards you.
- 18:38Are correct. But that doesn't he's not going
- 18:41to wrestle there again. I'd be surprised if he does.
- 18:44So the last match was. Was Killer Cross?
- 18:48Yes. Was the world title match first?
- 18:51Was Killer Cross versus the rude dude the original bro Matt
- 18:55Riddle? Short hair.
- 18:58Matt Riddle cut his hair, kind of changed up his his trunk
- 19:02style a little bit. Killer Cross went from trunks to
- 19:07long pants. Mr. Four belt.
- 19:10Holder which yes he holds the the RPW belt overseas in across
- 19:15the pond he hold No he holds the WSW belt World Series of
- 19:20Wrestling out of Australia, he holds the MLW Major League
- 19:26Wrestling world title and. He has another belt.
- 19:29I can't. Remember I already said it, RPW,
- 19:32but the belt that mattered last night was the ACW World
- 19:38Heavyweight Title and it was Matt Riddle versus Killer Cross,
- 19:43which if you guys have never seen them wrestle, not only did
- 19:46they wrestle in WWE, but they wrestled in MLWI can't tell you
- 19:52how many times when Matt Riddle was champion, when he wasn't
- 19:56champion, it didn't matter. They had some fun.
- 20:01You could see they were having a little bit of fun, but they were
- 20:04also very competitive. They had a great competitive
- 20:08match and then at the end of the show as Killer Cross one, I I
- 20:16want to pull this up because I want you guys to see what I saw.
- 20:24There was a killer Cross was giving his, you know, his
- 20:30speech. He was getting ready to give a
- 20:32speech, Say thank you to the fans like he always does.
- 20:36And then you got to see this OG. And then that's, I hope it's up
- 20:42here. If it's not up here, I'll have
- 20:44to find the video and pull it up.
- 20:57OK, Yep. All right, so I'm going to
- 20:59actually do this right now and I'm going to, I'm going to
- 21:03present with I'm going to share my no, can I just do this?
- 21:08Oh no, share an extra calendar. Will it let me?
- 21:10No, it won't. We're going to share my screen
- 21:14with you guys for a couple seconds here, and I'm going to
- 21:22do this so I can watch it and see.
- 21:25Keep an eye on everything over here.
- 21:28We're going to add this to the stage.
- 21:36Here it is. So I want you guys to pay
- 21:39attention. Hold on, hold on.
- 21:43Because the why did the audio not go now?
- 21:44What the hell? See, this is the beauty of doing
- 21:48these things live, ladies and gentlemen.
- 22:12Do you hear it? Most people don't.
- 22:19They're too busy cheering the strongest man in the room that
- 22:22they don't notice the house roaning beneath their feet.
- 22:31Power has a very funny way of making men feel untouchable.
- 22:37Sure, they carry championships. They carry victories.
- 22:44They carry fear, but did they ever stop to ask who?
- 22:49Who gave them permission to carry any of it?
- 23:00Tonight a king stood tall. He conquered, He celebrated.
- 23:07He believed. The strongest walls never fall
- 23:18from the outside, they rot from within.
- 23:28Killer cross. Enjoy your Kingdom.
- 23:36Learn every hallway, memorize every corner.
- 23:43Because when the leaves fall, I'll already be inside there.
- 23:53You go October 17th, Mr. Joe Gase, Mischief night #2 October
- 24:0217th at the NJ 10 Center. What do you think about?
- 24:06That that was a big free agent get.
- 24:18That was a huge, huge get for them to be able to bring him in,
- 24:26especially fresh off the the Wyatts and everything else.
- 24:31I mean, dude, that's huge. That's crazy.
- 24:38And at the end, Killer Cross cut the promo and he tells him,
- 24:43Joseph, me and you have unfinished business.
- 24:48We fought each other each and every week, but we were robbed.
- 24:51Not only were we robbed, the people were robbed that tuned in
- 24:54each and every week. So on October 17th, come find
- 24:59me. And that's how they went off the
- 25:04air. So guys, on that note,
- 25:08turnbuckles and stogies, Pot is taking a quick 5 minute break
- 25:11and we'll be back. With our guest.

- 30:16logo, and then you have our logo that 4 John's has created for
- 30:22us. And now let's talk about a
- 30:24cigar. Well.
- 30:26Yeah. We are in negotiations.
- 30:31I'm waiting on our samples with a cigar company to make our own
- 30:39cigars. Well it's going to be a one and
- 30:42done. When I say 1 and done you
- 30:45prepaid it's 50 bucks for A5 pack and that's it.
- 30:49Once you pay, it goes to the guy that we owe and that's where it
- 30:52goes. Us.
- 30:54Well, even if it does come to us, because if we order them,
- 30:58however we're going to work, decided that either way, that's
- 31:02what's going to happen. It's the same.
- 31:04It's the cigar you guys seen. We just had to go back to the
- 31:07drawing board and make it more cost effective for you guys at
- 31:09home watching and listening. So now let's get to the
- 31:12interview of the week. The interview of the week is
- 31:22brought to you by Jersey Mike's, a sub above.
- 31:29And we're going to flip it over to the OG for the introduction
- 31:32of our Guest of the Week. What is up?
- 31:36Hey guys, I was excited to bring him back here.
- 31:39He's our long time friend and owner and founder of Select Draw
- 31:45Cutters. Let's bring Mark in right now.
- 31:48Mark, what's going on, brother? Another great day smoking a
- 31:55cigar got to be a great day. What's going on?
- 31:59We haven't talked to you you in forever.
- 32:02So what's new in your world there?
- 32:03What's going on? So what's new?
- 32:07Invented the Select Draw cigar cutter, sold them worldwide and
- 32:14now come up with some new ideas. Oh, and I love coming up with
- 32:18ideas. So the launch of my DNA will hit
- 32:24in 2027. It'll be a a different types of
- 32:29cutters based on my insane imagination.
- 32:33I've even come up with a weird lighter concept.
- 32:37Can't give anything away 'cause, you know, I got to sit with the
- 32:40engineers and then I got to get the Ndas and then I got to get
- 32:43the patent overtime. But I'm very excited to reenter
- 32:48the cigar world after being relaxed for the last about 2 1/2
- 32:53three years. There we go.
- 32:57So let me ask you this, bud. And we've known each other,
- 33:01Geez, now about 12 years. Yeah.
- 33:05So something like that. After after you did this
- 33:10original, after you did the the breeze through.
- 33:16The cup of smoke. The cup of smoke.
- 33:20What is your next project? There there's select ways to
- 33:26make cigar cutters, and I've realized there's angles, there's
- 33:31bends, and there are all kinds of different ways to cut a
- 33:39cigar. The goal is to get the flow
- 33:45through your mouth as you hold it and blow it out.
- 33:49So there's different, we'll say air channels, aerodynamics to
- 33:57smoking cigars and it changes the flavor, it changes the where
- 34:02the smoke hits on your tongue. So it change, it'll give you a
- 34:07different type of feeling when you smoke the cigars.
- 34:10And I'm, and I've been off for two weeks and I've been drawing
- 34:14my my mechanical drawing that I learned in high school.
- 34:17And I've let me look here. I've come up with some really
- 34:20crazy stuff. I, I mean, I'm, I'm excited to
- 34:30see what you got because you come up with, you know, whether
- 34:34it's color wise, color wise, you're, you're shot of smoke,
- 34:38your cup of smoke. You know, you have ideas for
- 34:42stuff that people would have never thought of that people now
- 34:51want to use and get their hands on.
- 34:56So I'm, I'm excited and you know, the last time we had you
- 35:01on, which was probably a couple of years ago, was the cup of
- 35:04smoke. How did, how did that wind up
- 35:07selling? Did that take off like the
- 35:09select draw did? No, it, I'm going to be totally
- 35:13honest, it was conceptual prototype type of thing.
- 35:20It sold some, but it was not as successful as select draw, but
- 35:27at least I got to get my ID out. What I'm learning is the
- 35:31simplest thing is the best thing.
- 35:35And so with these new sets of cutters is going to be, I think
- 35:396 of them. I came up with all kinds of
- 35:45different angles, all different types of ways to cut on the tap
- 35:52and the side, and they're all very unique.
- 35:56And I'm hoping people will have a unique experience.
- 35:59I even wrote down combinations of the different cutters
- 36:04together. Select draw was, I think it was
- 36:08a little complicated. I've simplified my ideas to 1
- 36:13action and I think that's what people have talked about.
- 36:20They want it to be 1 action and I have six of them down to 1
- 36:24action. I have one for the ladies, just
- 36:28to be honest, I've gone that far.
- 36:31So I just can't wait to sit with the engineers.
- 36:36I have my drawings, I have my measurements and inches.
- 36:39I probably should put in millimeters, but I'm an
- 36:42American, so I do inches. So, but I'm very excited.
- 36:48I found somebody in Baltimore that can help me with these
- 36:51ideas to bring them to market and I'm excited to be the
- 36:58inventor now and I think I'll become the manufacturer now with
- 37:03the new technologies that exist. Well, that's that's a good thing
- 37:07because, and I'm sure Dennis will agree, because then you're
- 37:10the manufacturer. That means you pick and choose
- 37:15what you can put out there and what you can't put out there.
- 37:18If you don't like it, it doesn't leave yourself.
- 37:21Absolutely. And you determine the cost that
- 37:24way too. You're right.
- 37:26And these will be custom made to order, going to start out with
- 37:32one color and I already know the material I'm going to used, it's
- 37:36going to be a frosted. Well, we'll say, we'll say leave
- 37:39it as frosted. I'm not going to say the exact
- 37:41color, but after learning from select draw, I think I know how
- 37:46to launch the product now and I know the time period.
- 37:50So each cutter will come out between 6:00 and 9:00 months
- 37:56from each other before we switch colors.
- 38:00And it was great to switch and it was great to become get the
- 38:04minis. But we didn't have a time.
- 38:07We didn't really go based on marketing.
- 38:09We went based on our heart. And this time I'm sure we can go
- 38:15from 10,000, which we saw with select draw.
- 38:18The goal is to get the 25,000 and the but, but it can even be
- 38:25higher than that this time because again, Pat, when you
- 38:29patent something in metal, it's hard to change.
- 38:35This time it'll be based on a material that can be easily
- 38:38changed and can have every color of the rainbow.
- 38:43And that's what I'm excited about this great new technology
- 38:46that's come out. It's very exciting to me.
- 38:50There won't be any limitations other than me launching one
- 38:54color at a time and one type of cutter at a time.
- 38:59And if one blows up, then I'll push that one even harder or
- 39:03I'll make more of those. I'll definitely be going to some
- 39:07cigar events. The top five states, I'm hitting
- 39:12all of those. Last time we just went Willy
- 39:15nilly. So I I think I have a more of a
- 39:18business mind now after the first one.
- 39:21The number one state for smoking cigars is Florida and we never
- 39:27went there. Speaking of Florida and there's
- 39:32TPA down there, which is the organization that Ishmael
- 39:37Olivine. Doctor Oliver from GTO or Doctor
- 39:40Oscar from GTO? Kathy's Cigar Box, Mark Being
- 39:44and Ronnie from the Great Lakes Smoke Show.
- 39:46TPA that happened an event in October, but everything is sold
- 39:50out. You can only buy tickets to go
- 39:52there. But it's definitely something to
- 39:56you can join to join because you, you can join.
- 40:01And what's what's nice about that is especially you being the
- 40:06the inventor, the manufacturer, the distributor, you can then be
- 40:12in contact with cigar lounges, cigar brand owners, media and
- 40:20consumers. Correct.
- 40:22Because everybody, what they did is they made it to where
- 40:25everybody can join. Well, how did that happen?
- 40:28It's different levels to the organization and it works out in
- 40:33people like your favorite because then people say, well,
- 40:37what else does he make? Or you know, they might say to
- 40:39you, hey, I saw you make this cutter.
- 40:41Do you have anything else? And you can say, Oh yeah, I also
- 40:44make select draw or I make this, I make that.
- 40:48And now you have the outlets to do media rounds when your
- 40:53product comes out, you can go on and send out a mass e-mail to
- 40:57all of the media people and say, hey, I got a new product coming
- 41:02out and such and such. Let's see who we can schedule,
- 41:06what interviews we can schedule for that that launch.
- 41:10Or even if you record interviews with people and you know, when
- 41:14that goes to launch everybody, you know, if it's October 13th
- 41:18of 27, you know, people can start dropping their interviews
- 41:22right on that time frame. And then you go from having
- 41:28either no interviews to, you know, 30 interviews dropped all
- 41:32at once with you and your new product.
- 41:34You're absolutely right. The beginning doing Select Draw
- 41:39has taught me all the insurance and outs of the cigar industry,
- 41:44pitching to a big corporation to see if they'll accept your ID
- 41:48and put their name on it. We, I went through all those
- 41:52different experiences, wholesale, retail, and I've
- 41:58learned a great deal based on that.
- 42:02I will be launching a website for this and that'll be very
- 42:07simple. We, I think we made it a little
- 42:09complicated. It's going to be a video of how
- 42:11to use it and the cart to buy. We, we had all kinds of
- 42:18different things on our pages and it was good because we were
- 42:21brand new and neither one of us knew how to get this stuff out
- 42:25there. But after watching the last
- 42:28couple years and having the experience on all different
- 42:32levels, even the international level, it, it's even the Amazon
- 42:37level has taught me so many lessons about business.
- 42:41And again, my degree is in science.
- 42:42It's not in business, but now I do understand the business model
- 42:47and I think it'll be much easier just like you said to make
- 42:52launches. We didn't really do launches in
- 42:56the proper marketing way. Again, we did it based on our
- 43:00heart. But I realized in business you
- 43:03have to do it the business way. There is a right way and a wrong
- 43:06way in business. We we sold so many despite us
- 43:11doing different things. But this time it should be.
- 43:14It should just flow like butter. Well, let OG talk to you about
- 43:19the business part that. OG just if you can just share
- 43:26some of the insights of some wisdom, you know, drop some
- 43:29knowledge bombs on us on the business aspect, maybe you know,
- 43:33some key points that you didn't think of before that you now
- 43:36understand. Like can you elaborate on any of
- 43:38that that really help Catalystic Cattle catapult you into this
- 43:43next phase and this next chapter in your business?
- 43:47So the United States is the number one nation to smoke
- 43:51cigars. I think it's it might be 80%,
- 43:55but I had an exact percent that I've looked up.
- 43:58We are the smokers of the world. And so you want to concentrate
- 44:03on those five major states. You want to concentrate on not
- 44:09always setting up a vending event, but using that QR code on
- 44:15the back of your cutter to press your cigar cutter out there.
- 44:20Because once they have, and I've already included that in my
- 44:24thinking, the QR code is the greatest thing you can have on
- 44:28the back of your product because now everybody can find.
- 44:33We play with it on a shirt. It's sort of worked.
- 44:37We played with it on different cards and things like that.
- 44:42But I I realized that the international market's fine, but
- 44:48you want to dominate the American market 1st and you can
- 44:51launch an international later. That should be something to do
- 44:55later. Based on the magazines we did.
- 44:59I can't remember the magazine's name, but we did six or seven
- 45:03different magazines, but some of them really didn't have a
- 45:07following. So it didn't really matter that
- 45:10we got published. It felt good in our heart.
- 45:15We were so excited, but it didn't turn into profit.
- 45:20And so the digital website stuff, and it's a little shaky,
- 45:27we did it. We looked at the numbers.
- 45:30It wasn't worth it, not in our case.
- 45:32Now maybe with cigars it was because again, this is cigar
- 45:35cutters. Very strange marketplace.
- 45:39Going to lounges was fun, but you get in one, they buy again
- 45:43one time almost like cigars or boutique cigars.
- 45:47They buy it one time, they might buy it twice and that's it.
- 45:50This time we're going directly to the masses.
- 45:53I'm bringing it directly to the people.
- 45:56And that's how we made the most money in one in three days.
- 46:01Like in Houston, in Houston, I worked the room every day.
- 46:06It was exhausting, not going to lie.
- 46:07It was very time. But that was the highest amount
- 46:11of money we made in three days ever.
- 46:14And it's because I was there. I was talking to people, but but
- 46:19I realized now is I want to bring it directly.
- 46:23PCA is great. The other organization, Boutique
- 46:28Cigar Association, is wonderful. Well, they're they're no longer
- 46:32around anymore. Yeah, I'm, I'm sort of that a
- 46:35chance, but I, I want to launch a website, hit the ground
- 46:40running and hit some different places.
- 46:44Definitely going to hit this beautiful.
- 46:46I'm sure everybody knows about it or some people probably know
- 46:48about there's an Indiana train, the last train in the United
- 46:53States where you can smoke cigars.
- 46:58And I will be on that train next.
- 47:00Year awesome. I'm very excited to be there.
- 47:05Indiana is part of the top five. I never knew that.
- 47:11So some of the things I've researched and looked at I I did
- 47:14not know. But I've learned so much in this
- 47:18business and there's so many nuances.
- 47:22But I'm excited to bring a product to the market again.
- 47:25Definitely going to do the R and DI contacted my father and said
- 47:28Pops maybe you cut like every one of your damn cigars for like
- 47:33a month with the cutter and tell me what you feel.
- 47:37I'll be giving you guys cutters to test it cause again you want
- 47:41people that smoke cigars to test it to feel it.
- 47:45This cigar cutter will be ergonomic.
- 47:48It'll probably be the first ergonomic cigar that's ever
- 47:51existed. Well, you said there's six of
- 47:53them, correct? Yes.
- 47:56So there's three of us, so we each get 6.
- 48:01You will be receiving prototypes in the mail for testing.
- 48:06I will be sending you a survey to tell me what's good and
- 48:09what's bad. If anything's not functioning
- 48:12right, maybe the blade is off center or something.
- 48:15These are all the things I need to know before I do a launch.
- 48:18So this will be a much deeper R&D.
- 48:21Again we got lucky the last time we were going to do it all
- 48:25aluminum and my friend that dabbed us cigars dropped it on
- 48:29the floor and the pen curled it it bent.
- 48:33We had no idea we were just about to launch too.
- 48:36We were within a month of launching and luckily he felt
- 48:43bad but I gave him a hug because we were about to lose money
- 48:47because we failed to realize the damage that could happen by
- 48:52something just falling right. So all these tests have to be
- 48:56done this time. The crash test, just like in a
- 48:59car, the crash test, the drop test, the throat test, whatever
- 49:05test that needs to be done. This will be made out of a very
- 49:08special type of material. It should be hard enough to
- 49:13survive, but I need people in real world situations to test.
- 49:19Well, you know me. Dennis and Joey are always in
- 49:24the real world. We always take care of your
- 49:27stuff and you know we're going to tell you if it sucks or if
- 49:32it's good. Now I will, the one thing I will
- 49:35say what I do like about the select draw being made out of
- 49:39the the spikes being made out of the the airplane steel is they
- 49:43stay sharp no matter how much you use them.
- 49:48That's the one thing I I do love and you know is that is
- 49:52something like that in your plans for the new Cutter kind of
- 49:56using the same material as the the pokers in this.
- 50:02No, this time it will be a different material and that's
- 50:06why it has to be thoroughly tested.
- 50:07This is not going to be a strong as aluminum material and that's
- 50:12why I need to test it as many times as possible.
- 50:15I'm sure there will be a failure rate because that's just the way
- 50:18it is with this material, but I'm hoping that it will stand
- 50:22the test of time and will be functional again.
- 50:26I want one action. It seems like everybody loves
- 50:29one action. Cutter select draw was a choice
- 50:33and sometimes people got confused by the choice.
- 50:37Right. Now will you?
- 50:42Will you make a generation 2 of the original with the new
- 50:49technology that you have? Will you make a generation 2 of
- 50:52the original? I definitely could do that down
- 50:55the line. I think that's a great idea.
- 50:58But I wanna launch all new ideas.
- 51:00What I tell people all the time is the idea was fun.
- 51:05Yeah, manufacturing was OK. The selling was confusing.
- 51:12It can be. It can be.
- 51:14I think some, I think you nailed it earlier when sometime,
- 51:17sometimes you overthink over and and if you keep it simple, you
- 51:22eliminate all that chaos that goes through your brain and
- 51:26sometimes you overthink yourself out of maybe a better product
- 51:29because you overthought that. You know what I mean?
- 51:31Absolutely. And that's why I need to have at
- 51:34least 10 to 20 people to test give me the reviews.
- 51:39I like this. I don't like this.
- 51:42The great thing about this material is it's malleable.
- 51:46So it won't be a patent. Well, the patent will come
- 51:50later, but it won't be something I can't change.
- 51:53So you say, hey, it should. It should have this indented in
- 51:58it. I was like, oh, I would have
- 52:00never thought of that. I can just change the CAD
- 52:03drawing and make it exactly what you just said.
- 52:07All this is before the patent. So I want to get in in enough
- 52:10hands that that week, honestly, it's going to be our cigar.
- 52:14It's called my DNA. It is the series, my DNA.
- 52:18That's going to be the name. But it's really going to be our
- 52:22cigar cutter because it's going to be the cigar people helping
- 52:27me to make it the best cutter. Right, so I'm going to have to
- 52:32get you in touch with bad Ass Cigar Life because if you ever
- 52:37watch his videos every day, he's up to like 4000 videos a year.
- 52:45He does them every day. He does 4000 videos.
- 52:50Well, he doesn't do 4000 videos every day.
- 52:52Not every day, but you know it's.
- 52:53Up to like 4000 posts. So I'm going to get you in touch
- 52:57with him because he will tell you.
- 53:00He's another one like us. If it sucks or if it's, well,
- 53:03he. Has a select draw.
- 53:05Right. And he likes it, yeah, but I'm
- 53:09going to get you in touch with him and you can include him
- 53:13also. Because he's like us.
- 53:15He like you like me, like OG, like my dad, he's out there like
- 53:20us smoking cigars every day. You know, I'm like you said, the
- 53:24best way to do it is to get it in the hands of people who will
- 53:26use it every day. Who?
- 53:28Smoke cigars, even if it's not every day, every other day,
- 53:32whatever. They're still smoking, so
- 53:34they're still going to use. It not somebody that goes in and
- 53:36goes oh let's put this aside and I'll use it in two weeks, 3
- 53:40weeks down the road. Well, I I'd mentioned the mark
- 53:43off, off camera, off recording, I'd mentioned that I brought one
- 53:49of the cutters to one of my local lounges.
- 53:51They had never seen it before. And I bought the little mini.
- 53:55I bought the black Mini 1. I have mini the top of my head
- 53:59but I still have it sitting around somewhere.
- 54:01The owner fell in love with it instantly.
- 54:05So what I, what I did was I left it there.
- 54:08I said, listen, this is yours. Have your customers try this
- 54:13like suggested to him. And he goes, I'm telling you
- 54:16right now, I'm ordering them. I'm I, I like the whole line.
- 54:19I showed him your whole line. He said, I love it.
- 54:22I love it all. He said I'm ordering them and he
- 54:26said I'm ordering them and if I like something, all my customers
- 54:29are loyal to me, they'll buy it too.
- 54:31So he loved the simplicity of it, the concept of just punch
- 54:37and light and smoke, very simple, very straightforward and
- 54:42adored the black and the silver. He said it looks classy, it
- 54:47looks simple and a very simple concept.
- 54:49And he said my customers are going to eat them up.
- 54:52So we'll be in touch about that, you know.
- 54:55What it is too about that, and I've, I've said this to people
- 54:57all the time, is you could leave it in your car and you always
- 54:59have a cutter. Yeah, always.
- 55:02You can leave it in your car, in your work bag, in your golf bag,
- 55:05whatever. You always have a cutter and it
- 55:09may not be the one you want at the time.
- 55:11You may want a straight cutter or V cut.
- 55:12But when you don't have one or you lost it or it broke while
- 55:16you were driving, whatever, you know, you have that select draw
- 55:20that you can kind of, you know, do what you got to do to it to
- 55:23make it. And, and Mark, Mark, you're
- 55:27going to love this cause this is going to hit home to you because
- 55:30he said this, I did not plant the seed.
- 55:32He said his wife smokes cigars too.
- 55:35She doesn't smoke as much as him because she doesn't like the
- 55:38tobacco ending up in her mouth. And I said, well, this will help
- 55:44eliminate 90 to 99% of that. I said, and he was like, well,
- 55:50then my wife will then hear much more smoke.
- 55:51And if, if I, you know, if it does it all that it says it
- 55:54does. And I said it's I have this with
- 55:57me all the time. I have two of the black ones,
- 56:00one, the one black one's in my truck.
- 56:02And now that the shop has the other one, but I use it I would
- 56:07say nearly 100% of the time. Was that the one?
- 56:11And it's it the Welton, The Welton room?
- 56:15Yeah, yeah. And they are Mark, they are a
- 56:18high end cigar lounge. They're in a very affluent part
- 56:23of town. So price point, I already told
- 56:28him pride point probably going to be spot on anyway for him,
- 56:31but his customers will have no issue going in and going what's
- 56:36that? I want one give it to me and
- 56:38they'll they're going to buy them and they're going to buy
- 56:40them fast, so. That's.
- 56:42Great. I'll be in touch with you about
- 56:44it. Yeah, definitely.
- 56:45And you know, after a while we thought we needed to be
- 56:48independent, right? It was all select draw or
- 56:51nothing when we figured out that B cut with side draw was the
- 56:57most popular way to do it. So you cut with the V, you add 3
- 57:03three holes to the side and then three, three holes to the other
- 57:06side. And once I made those videos,
- 57:09people understood it. Still people get confused
- 57:12because it's, it's not as simple as just doing it.
- 57:17Sometimes people need that video.
- 57:19And that's why I'm going to do a video for every single cutter
- 57:23multiple times with multiple people so that people can see
- 57:27how to use it over and over and over again.
- 57:31Because again, the 1st place no, one of the cigar lines I went to
- 57:35the guy just slammed it into it. Yeah, he said.
- 57:38He said it didn't work, Mark, it didn't work.
- 57:40I said wait a second, you're supposed to finacident.
- 57:44Once I showed him he was he was like oh, but he had busted like
- 57:483 cigars before I got to him. He said he could do it.
- 57:52I'll do it myself. I'll do it myself.
- 57:53No, I have to teach you with the new set of cutters.
- 57:57There is no teaching. I'm gonna have a video 1 action.
- 58:02Bam, it's done. There you go.
- 58:04That's the cutter. You don't.
- 58:07Just like that. On that note, guys, we got to
- 58:10take a 5 minute break and we'll be right back with our guest of
- 58:13the week. What is up?
- 1:02:02What is up? Happy Sunday, Happy fun Day.
- 1:02:04It is I, the big dog, the vanilla gorilla, the OG.
- 1:02:08We are Turnbuckles and Stogies pod and we are here today with
- 1:02:11our special guest of the week, Mr. Mark from Select Draw.
- 1:02:17Mark, I got to ask this before. I would be remiss if I didn't
- 1:02:21ask this question, and I want to ask it before I forget.
- 1:02:23Now that you're back. Now that you're back, you're
- 1:02:27gonna brush the dust off that robe.
- 1:02:30Are we gonna see you in that robe again?
- 1:02:32The the robe will be dusted off. I have new robes to show.
- 1:02:35I have a blue robe. I have a burgundy robe, and I'm
- 1:02:38gonna and I'm gonna get two or three other robes.
- 1:02:41The robes are. Back Hold on, Hold on.
- 1:02:43Hold on, hold on, hold on time. Out, time out, time out.
- 1:02:47Dust the the dust off the robes. What about the yeah beard?
- 1:02:53What are you talking about? That's classy.
- 1:02:54Look at that. That's knowledge and wisdom
- 1:02:56right there, hanging from a chin.
- 1:02:58It's all that's. What that is No.
- 1:02:59You know what the that goes? That's a guy who's been hard at
- 1:03:04work with his new invention. That's what that shows all.
- 1:03:06You guys say that 'cause I got I got a great beard now that I'm
- 1:03:11retired and everything else that I'm old.
- 1:03:14So what's the difference between him and I?
- 1:03:18Again, it's wisdom on his part. We're both old.
- 1:03:23Yours is a Gray beard. They're just messing with you.
- 1:03:30Totally messing with you. Hey and before I always want to
- 1:03:34do this every show and I forget but shout out to MBR.
- 1:03:36Thank you for bring in turnbuckles, doggies on.
- 1:03:39Shout out to all our veterans out there.
- 1:03:41Thank you for your service and all that you sacrifices you make
- 1:03:44for this great nation of ours. So I want to put that out there
- 1:03:47too. MBR is included on one of our
- 1:03:50designs on Fort John's Apparel store.
- 1:03:54Yes. I included the MBR logo on one
- 1:03:57of our designs. Very cool, very cool.
- 1:04:00They are. They are included.
- 1:04:01Actually, they are included in our LJN inspired action figure
- 1:04:07design. That was cool, by the way, That
- 1:04:10was really cool. On
- 1:04:12fourjohnsapparel.com/turnbuckles of Stobies.
- 1:04:17And shout out to Jersey Mike's, by the way.
- 1:04:20Yes, guys, I was going to surprise you with this.
- 1:04:22But at one of the next shows that we're going to be together,
- 1:04:25I'm made good friends with the owner of the local franchise
- 1:04:29here, and Jersey Mike's is going to graciously provide us with
- 1:04:33lunch one day. So I'm going to bring down some
- 1:04:36Jersey Mikes, some Subs, some chips, and a few drinks for us.
- 1:04:40So. Absolutely.
- 1:04:41Let's, let's. That's fantastic.
- 1:04:43Let's get back to that. So I know you said and you I I
- 1:04:50thought I was going crazy, but. Well, you are, but that's.
- 1:04:53You kept saying July 1st, black first, black first.
- 1:04:56We're in July 18th, 19th and it's still not open.
- 1:05:01What happened? So it it's still going to open,
- 1:05:05but the new owner is gonna be very meticulous on the layout of
- 1:05:09the store. He's very particular.
- 1:05:12He's more hands on than the previous owner.
- 1:05:15It's gonna be more of a updated lounge.
- 1:05:20The front store aspect will actually look more like a store
- 1:05:23and then the back lounge is getting a whole new
- 1:05:26redecoration. But same feel the the leather
- 1:05:29furniture, you know, the the nice end tables, it's going to
- 1:05:33be very classy back there. So he's just being very
- 1:05:36particular. I got a sneak peek.
- 1:05:38I was made to leave my phone in the car so I couldn't take any
- 1:05:42photos or anything. But the old lounge that used to
- 1:05:45be Park Lane is going to be reopening under a brand new
- 1:05:49owner, brand new name. So in Clifton Park, NY, Stay
- 1:05:53tuned, it's coming soon, within the next few weeks, they're
- 1:05:56going to officially open. So.
- 1:05:58So that will be out. So.
- 1:06:00Turnbuckles and Stogies has a home to film up there.
- 1:06:02This is what I'm saying, I'm trying to get to the point here
- 1:06:05so it ain't open. Can Turnbuckles and Stogies pod
- 1:06:10come up there and film their podcast?
- 1:06:13When they if we don't have to film a podcast even if we can no
- 1:06:16some content. When they open, can we go up
- 1:06:19there and film our podcast that day?
- 1:06:21Yes. You already asked.
- 1:06:26Listen, if it's everything that I've seen so far, it's going to
- 1:06:30be all of that and more. And yes, we are invited to host
- 1:06:34our shows there and obviously we're going to pitch their store
- 1:06:39as well. And Mark, I will try to get
- 1:06:41Selectra on there as well. Put them on the shelf.
- 1:06:43Put the cutters on their shelf. So.
- 1:06:46We. Have not been to a lounge in
- 1:06:49about a year so we. Went to a lounge.
- 1:06:53Hold on, we haven't been to a lounge in about a year because
- 1:06:55we had a we had to move from my house, my apartment into a house
- 1:07:00now. So it's stressful and oh geez,
- 1:07:03oh geez, been here. It's right back there.
- 1:07:06Behind me is the backyard. It's been stressful because, you
- 1:07:10know, we got, we got to pay the electric, we got to pay this.
- 1:07:13But when I get back into the lounge across the bridge, I'm
- 1:07:20going to bring my select draw and talk to the owner about
- 1:07:25getting them in there because I'm friends with everybody in
- 1:07:28there and they always hit me up. When when you coming back?
- 1:07:30When you coming back? When you coming?
- 1:07:32Back select Draw with the turnbuckles.
- 1:07:33And I'll be able to cigars, select draw with turnbuckles and
- 1:07:36stroke and cigars. There you go.
- 1:07:39I appreciate the connections, guys.
- 1:07:41I appreciate all that you've done for Select Draw and all the
- 1:07:45help that you've done over the years, and I appreciate your
- 1:07:48kindness. We had such a good time hanging
- 1:07:52out with each other. When we say that.
- 1:07:54That event that we had together with me, you, jeez, we had what,
- 1:07:59like 150 people there, I think, even if not more.
- 1:08:03So do you remember the day that we first met?
- 1:08:09Do you remember that day? Because I do.
- 1:08:13Is it CI? Yeah.
- 1:08:14No, no, it wasn't CI. Was it the New Jersey spot?
- 1:08:19Oh yes, that was when you came into a lot of the first time,
- 1:08:23yes, and and I'm going to tell you exactly what it what
- 1:08:28happened. That was that was when you gave
- 1:08:30us the select draw cutters. That was when when we were
- 1:08:33leaving and you came over and you said, hold on, I got
- 1:08:35something for you and you walked over the car and you handed us
- 1:08:38the silver and the black and I that black one has gone to hell
- 1:08:43and back with me. I mean, it's gone to the
- 1:08:46Carolinas, it's gone to Jersey, it's gone to Pai Mean it's in.
- 1:08:51I still have it. It's just in one of my many
- 1:08:53different soap bags that have seen a different state that I
- 1:08:58take all of my shit to. I just don't know who where it
- 1:09:01is. Because the day that you gave us
- 1:09:05that stuff, I'll never forget. Cody called me.
- 1:09:09It was like, yo, he didn't give me one.
- 1:09:11I said, bro, I can't tell a guy what to do.
- 1:09:14That's him, not mine. That was when you came.
- 1:09:16He didn't give me one. That was when you had the select
- 1:09:18draw sneakers, the select draw pants, the shirt.
- 1:09:22I said that's his business. He invited us.
- 1:09:25We didn't invite him. He invited us, but you invited
- 1:09:30me. I said I did, but I didn't say
- 1:09:32you were getting anything. We didn't.
- 1:09:33Know, First off, we didn't even know that.
- 1:09:36We just, you said, yo, I'm going to be up in Jersey this weekend.
- 1:09:40Where can we go to hang out in the first place?
- 1:09:42We all thought of was fanatics because it was still nice out.
- 1:09:45You could sit outside, you weren't on top of everybody.
- 1:09:48We could all go on the one little table and kind of hang
- 1:09:51out. And you know, we tried to cut
- 1:09:53her that day and you explained to us how to use it.
- 1:09:57And honestly, I still use mine when I remember to take it with
- 1:10:02me. I still do it.
- 1:10:03That's great. Even on a straight cut, I
- 1:10:05punched three holes across here three holes across here and I'll
- 1:10:09punch almost all the way around the cap to get that extra air
- 1:10:12flow if the cigar is burning a little little rough and tight
- 1:10:16Yep, I'm I'm excited for what you have coming, though I will
- 1:10:20tell you that I'm. I'm can't wait to see what and
- 1:10:23the fact. That you've you've already
- 1:10:24gotten 6 out of your out of your brain that you've put on paper.
- 1:10:33That means that you might have just done 6, but that doesn't
- 1:10:37mean there's not, you know, 15 more in your head.
- 1:10:42You're right. You're a mad scientist, Mark.
- 1:10:44You're a mad scientist and the the Wizard of of Cutters.
- 1:10:51You're the Wizard of cutters. I appreciate that I'll have a
- 1:10:54special punch for y'all to try too come up with all kinds of
- 1:10:59strange things. I I think the punch might be the
- 1:11:04greatest thing I've ever made, but it's going to be the hardest
- 1:11:08to sit down with the engineer and explain.
- 1:11:10But now. The great thing is they're going
- 1:11:12to help me to create the correct dimensions for it to do what
- 1:11:17it's supposed to do. Right now, let me, let me ask
- 1:11:20you this 'cause I know you said they got, you got cutters with
- 1:11:23one action and one action only. Have you ever considered doing
- 1:11:27something like a, a, putting 2 cutters on one kind of thing
- 1:11:32like this or like a, a Calibri where you know you have the, the
- 1:11:36regular cut in the front and then the V cut on the back.
- 1:11:38If you considered doing something like that or or is
- 1:11:42that just kind of you're sticking to single cutters for
- 1:11:45right now? You're exactly right.
- 1:11:47You just hit a new point with every blade.
- 1:11:51There's two sides, right? Right, so you're exactly right.
- 1:11:55I I came up with an idea. The front blade is 1 cut and on
- 1:12:02the other side is another cut. So you get to choose your cut
- 1:12:05still 1 action, but now you got to make a choice what side you
- 1:12:09use. So yes, I've definitely thought
- 1:12:11of that because with all the different angles, most times we
- 1:12:15only use one side or one side of the blade, but there's 2.
- 1:12:21So like you just said, you can have a blade will say a funny
- 1:12:27shape blade, it'll give you 1 cut on one side and a completely
- 1:12:32different cut on the other side. So you're exactly right, one of
- 1:12:35them will be dual choice. I I think the most exciting part
- 1:12:42about the new cutters is what you hit on when you were
- 1:12:45explaining with the new cutters, you're going to get different
- 1:12:49nuances out of the cigar. Like maybe you smoked the same
- 1:12:53cigar. Maybe you're, you're a padrone
- 1:12:55guy and that's all you smoke is padrone and all of a sudden you
- 1:12:58use this cutter and now all of a sudden you're getting a
- 1:13:00different profile on a cigar you've been smoking for 10-15
- 1:13:05years. And all of a sudden you're like,
- 1:13:06whoa, what in the I didn't know this had this in it.
- 1:13:10Like what is this all about? That's what's exciting to me is
- 1:13:13rediscovering an oldest old cigar that you use or a steady
- 1:13:17cigar that you use and getting a new nuance, a new flavor out of
- 1:13:22it. That's exciting to me.
- 1:13:23I'm looking forward to that. You hit the nail on the head.
- 1:13:27The goal now is for the Lenox that you use.
- 1:13:32Let's say you straight, you do straight cut every time.
- 1:13:35Now you use the special punch. I'll I'll leave it at that.
- 1:13:41And again, like you just said, you get a brand new experience
- 1:13:46because you're either using the straight cut in combination with
- 1:13:51the special punch or like I wrote down, I wrote down.
- 1:13:55It was amazing when I, when I had all the cutters and I wrote
- 1:13:58them all down, say wait a second.
- 1:14:01Now they can make one choice action, but if they want to add
- 1:14:05a choice, they can add the choice on.
- 1:14:08So now it's insanity. It's that it blew.
- 1:14:11I couldn't go to, you know, as always, I couldn't go to sleep.
- 1:14:15I was up to 4:00 AM drawing and thinking and it woke me up.
- 1:14:19The punch woke me up. I said, wait a second.
- 1:14:23Oh, oh, no. I just, oh, oh, I got to go sit
- 1:14:26with them with this one. So it, it hit me at 4:00 AM with
- 1:14:31the punch, I had to get out of bed and start drawing just like
- 1:14:35I always do. And when I finally finished, I
- 1:14:38was like, Oh my goodness. This could have completely
- 1:14:42changed the flavor that you're used to because it completely
- 1:14:47changed the flow of air, the draw.
- 1:14:50It completely changed the draw. It added different, a different
- 1:14:56direction in the drawer, which is insane.
- 1:14:58But again, straight cut will always be the number one forever
- 1:15:02because that's what people want and that's the easiest way to do
- 1:15:05it. But there are so many different
- 1:15:09angles. This what is I'm just going to
- 1:15:11throw out there. There's 65°, there's 90°,
- 1:15:14there's 120 degrees. So all these different degrees
- 1:15:19change how the flow of the air is drawn.
- 1:15:24And it just hit me. All of a sudden.
- 1:15:26I was like, Oh my goodness, I can't believe this.
- 1:15:29Let me answer this. Say you get up at 4:00 in the
- 1:15:32morning just to draw. Yeah.
- 1:15:35So what does your wife think about this situation?
- 1:15:38She thinks I'm insane, but she'll take the cash when it
- 1:15:41rolls in. See, that's the funny part.
- 1:15:43She'll take that. There's a book I bought while I
- 1:15:45was on vacation and it's full of full of all the different things
- 1:15:50I thought up over 2 weeks and it was only two weeks, but it
- 1:15:55really happened in 2 days. As usual, it happens too fast
- 1:15:58and my brain's about to explode and she's like Mark, Wow.
- 1:16:02Yeah, you do it in two days and then you need like a.
- 1:16:05Week to just recharge. To do is take time to recharge
- 1:16:11and then start all over. Not start all over, but start
- 1:16:14from where you end it. This way you can have time to
- 1:16:17spend with the wife while you're sleeping.
- 1:16:19Maybe make some babies. Or things like that.
- 1:16:23My baby days are over. But thanks, I appreciate that.
- 1:16:26I. Can't understand.
- 1:16:29I'm telling you from a friend to a friend.
- 1:16:31No, I hear you. I hear.
- 1:16:32You well Mark Mark as friends of the show and personally with
- 1:16:36each of us, we do expect a free ticket on your yacht when you
- 1:16:40make the big time OK, we want to go cruising around the Bay with
- 1:16:43you on your. Yard turnbuckles and stogies
- 1:16:45from his yacht with him while we're sitting there smoking
- 1:16:47sports. That's an invitation that's
- 1:16:50automatic. Smoking turnbuckles and stogies
- 1:16:53cigars. The the difference this time is
- 1:16:56I'm going to pace myself so I don't burn out, because that's
- 1:16:59what. There you go.
- 1:17:00There you go. Five years to do a celestial.
- 1:17:02I totally burned out stop post and stopped everything and was
- 1:17:08just laying there like Oh my God.
- 1:17:10I know because I hit you up and I'm like, yo bro, where you
- 1:17:13been? You're like, I'm OK.
- 1:17:16I think me and him were talking the other day and I'm like, you
- 1:17:19know, I haven't heard from Mark. I'm like, I haven't seen him.
- 1:17:21I'm like, I hope he's OK. And then I think I messaged you
- 1:17:25and I'm like, I seen you post and I'm like, oh, I'm like
- 1:17:29you're you're OK, you're good. You're all right.
- 1:17:31You're like, yeah, I'm, you know, I've been busy.
- 1:17:33I've been working. I'm like, well, OK, that's good.
- 1:17:35I'm like, at least we know, you know, because when, when people
- 1:17:38go Mia, you know, you don't know what happened.
- 1:17:40You don't know if anything went wrong, if they got sick, if they
- 1:17:43got hurt, whatever. So you know, it's nice when you
- 1:17:47see somebody post again after like you said, after being burnt
- 1:17:51out like that, you know, with pushing it so hard and posting
- 1:17:54every day because you were trying to push the product.
- 1:17:57Now having like you said, knowing what you've done and and
- 1:18:01having the resources you have now, it makes it a little easier
- 1:18:05for you because you can also too, obviously with the
- 1:18:10advancement of Instagram and everything, you can schedule
- 1:18:13videos so you don't even have to make them every day.
- 1:18:16You can make two or three a day and post them throughout the
- 1:18:20week. So and not have to burn yourself
- 1:18:22out with making a video every day.
- 1:18:24So tell us about this. So we haven't seen you in four
- 1:18:32years. I texted you, let's say last
- 1:18:36year, I think it was. He was like, I'm all right, I'm
- 1:18:39good, blah, blah, blah. So next thing I know, I get a
- 1:18:43message from OG. Oh, Mark is coming on.
- 1:18:46I said Mark, he goes, he goes select draw.
- 1:18:52I said when the hell did you talk to him?
- 1:18:54Because I texted him. He hasn't answered.
- 1:18:56I think I had talked to him. I think I had talked to him the
- 1:18:59week before you did. He goes, he's coming on the
- 1:19:02show, I said when, and he goes. I know people.
- 1:19:08Today's date, I said, whatever, Today's date is the 19th.
- 1:19:11I said, oh, that's nice. But yeah.
- 1:19:15So I just want to say, bro, it's always a pleasure to have you on
- 1:19:20here with all three of us because I love having you on.
- 1:19:25I like your grey beard, but it's got to get more black.
- 1:19:28I'm always excited to see what you draw up next because you
- 1:19:32always have the stuffing going. We're always excited to see what
- 1:19:37Mark pulls out of his hat. I appreciate you guys so much.
- 1:19:44What I've learned is it's a marathon and I tried this Sprint
- 1:19:50and I hurt myself and it wasn't, it wasn't that I hurt anyone.
- 1:19:54It's that I, I, I damaged myself running too fast.
- 1:19:59And that's why I'm going to pace it slow this time.
- 1:20:02This is going to be over years now instead of trying to do it
- 1:20:06as quickly as possible. And by doing that it, it was
- 1:20:10overwhelming my personalities. Introvert, Draw Something,
- 1:20:14relax, have a good time again. Now when I go to cigar events.
- 1:20:20VIP, no sales. One of the guys told me that he
- 1:20:24he came to me said Mark, you're going too hard.
- 1:20:27I said no, no, no, I'm doing, I'm doing it.
- 1:20:29He was right. I couldn't listen at the time
- 1:20:32because I all I knew was full gas everyday full.
- 1:20:37Gas. Five years and it was too much.
- 1:20:40It was too much for me. Other people could have
- 1:20:42functioned just fine. Not.
- 1:20:43A lot of gas. Well, The thing is.
- 1:20:46Doing it the way you're doing it now, you know, with that, that
- 1:20:49slow kind of build to everything, you may see that
- 1:20:54this might take off faster than you thought and you're still not
- 1:21:00sprinting. It's just your idea caught on
- 1:21:02quick and then people are going to be asking when the next one's
- 1:21:05coming. So you know, you said that 6 to
- 1:21:089 month range, which is great. You may change that depending on
- 1:21:12how fast that takes off. If somebody's looking for
- 1:21:15something new that may go from 6 to 9 to, you know, three to six,
- 1:21:21you're right. It's just great to depend on how
- 1:21:24fast it takes off. How fast do you want it to take
- 1:21:27off is the question. I want to make people happy with
- 1:21:33my cigar cutter. This time I have to balance my
- 1:21:37sanity against that because last time I did.
- 1:21:41Last time I would take a e-mail at any day, ship it out the next
- 1:21:46day. I was just always doing that and
- 1:21:49Amazon took it to even a higher level.
- 1:21:52So I'm not going to even mess with Amazon initially.
- 1:21:55This time I'm going to leave it all alone because that was too
- 1:21:58fast to pace. That was shipping out 200406100A
- 1:22:03thousand at once. Even though it was manufactured.
- 1:22:07We had to track it all. We had to make sure there were
- 1:22:10times where people bought it too fast and we weren't ready, but
- 1:22:13oh shit, they're all gone. We got to ship it back in
- 1:22:16immediately. No, this time it's going to be
- 1:22:21just like you just said, Joey it I'm going to try to paste it.
- 1:22:25If it gets too big, I can buy more of these particular
- 1:22:29machines to create it. And so it'll be AI think I, I
- 1:22:37can't, I can't be sure. I might not be able to control
- 1:22:40the pace again, but my reaction will be different.
- 1:22:45I won't push. Myself ready for it if it does
- 1:22:48do that. Oh, wow, it could explode.
- 1:22:51But the difference will be this time I'm going to be like, OK,
- 1:22:55I'm sending out, well, people have bought this.
- 1:23:00I have to make so many with this particular type of technology.
- 1:23:04You can set it and forget it. And that's why I have to go to
- 1:23:07the engineers, get that CAD drawing, and once I get the CAD
- 1:23:11drawing, I make them. I sell them on IG for a little
- 1:23:16while, nice and slow. Then I bring out the website and
- 1:23:20it might speed up. And I think this time I have AI,
- 1:23:25have a better mindset, I have a older mindset and like you said,
- 1:23:29wiser mindset. So even if somebody orders 1000
- 1:23:32at once, I'll say, hey, this is manufactured by me.
- 1:23:37I'm going to get them to them as soon as possible.
- 1:23:40And I'll, I'll ship 100 to them and I'll say, OK, now I'm
- 1:23:45shipping 200 to you. Now I'm getting 300 to you.
- 1:23:48So. If somebody calls you like OG
- 1:23:52and says, hey listen, the Wellington shop wants 500 your
- 1:24:00cutters the. New ones, the new ones.
- 1:24:02Can you ship them out? With the with the different
- 1:24:07devices I can buy the device in one day and start manufacturing.
- 1:24:12It's all based on the CAD drawing.
- 1:24:14So yes, I can get 1000 out a week based on electricity.
- 1:24:20Right. Right, right.
- 1:24:23And, and being that you are the manufacturer, the designer, the
- 1:24:27shipper, you can keep costs down.
- 1:24:29But you may be able to, you know, have a place where you can
- 1:24:32have somebody just you just design them and make them and
- 1:24:36then build them however you put them together and then pay
- 1:24:39somebody to ship them. Correct.
- 1:24:42I can do that now too. I can even hire somebody or I
- 1:24:46can go to the same engineers and say, Hey, I need you to make
- 1:24:49this one because these people have these devices, right?
- 1:24:53So I can outsource now. Before it was how many do we
- 1:24:58need from we can be totally honest now, how many do we need
- 1:25:02from China? Are we going to run out with the
- 1:25:06with the way things are nowadays, it's a good select
- 1:25:09draw slowed down because we wouldn't be able to get our
- 1:25:14shipment in now. Yeah.
- 1:25:17It would be stuck someplace now just because of the way the
- 1:25:20world is right now. Having complete autonomy and
- 1:25:23having complete control means I set the pace again.
- 1:25:27If they asked for that many, I would call the owner and say,
- 1:25:30hey, I can get them to you in a week or so, but then I have to
- 1:25:36scale up, which is OK, you know, And then then it's quality
- 1:25:41control after that again, each one.
- 1:25:44I don't, I'm not, I haven't even thought of, I've thought of
- 1:25:47quality control, but quality control can't be me.
- 1:25:50So I would have to have a team of people just cut it, cut it,
- 1:25:54cut it, cut it. OK, five cuts.
- 1:25:57They all look good. No snags, no weird peeling.
- 1:26:02It's good. Send it so.
- 1:26:05Listen, Mark, we appreciate you being on our show.
- 1:26:09It's time for us to wind down here.
- 1:26:12We got turnbuckles and Stogie's pot.
- 1:26:14I'm the big dog, the vanilla gorilla, the OG, and our special
- 1:26:19guest Mark from SSD Cigars. Cigar cutters, cigar cutters and
- 1:26:26whatever the whatever the new brand of and the the my.
- 1:26:31My DNA. My.
- 1:26:33DNA I got to I, I, it's been a thing I've been doing here on
- 1:26:39the podcast. So it kind of wind down.
- 1:26:41I've asked all the guests this these guys know where it's it's
- 1:26:44going. But with the fast-paced world,
- 1:26:46you talk about pacing yourself and stuff.
- 1:26:49You had an opportunity in your schedule.
- 1:26:51Let's say this gets out of control, but you have one hour
- 1:26:53of uninterrupted time and you can smoke a cigar with anybody
- 1:26:57past, present or future. Who would you?
- 1:27:01Who would you pick to sit down for one uninterrupted time?
- 1:27:04OK to share a cigar with. Let's think about it.
- 1:27:12I think I'd smoke a cigar with my dad because he's the one that
- 1:27:17got me in all this crap to begin with.
- 1:27:22I love my dad. He's always been very
- 1:27:25supportive. I've already sent him a message
- 1:27:28saying Sir, you're going to have to be testing the my DNA, he
- 1:27:31said. Come on, son, I'm ready.
- 1:27:35That's fantastic. And, and I actually, I had the
- 1:27:38opportunity to meet your dad at the, the big CI event.
- 1:27:42And, and he is, he is absolutely, he is hilarious.
- 1:27:49He is, he is hilarious, but he's also, like you said, you're your
- 1:27:53biggest supporter, the biggest person behind you who's, you
- 1:27:56know, ready to whatever you got next, send it my way and let's,
- 1:28:00you know, let's kind of put this in motion and see how this
- 1:28:03works. Absolutely.
- 1:28:06Wonderful, wonderful. We appreciate you coming on, my
- 1:28:09brother. We're going to take you off.
- 1:28:11Don't go nowhere. I'm sure we all want to talk to
- 1:28:14you after this. So guys, it's returned buckles
- 1:28:16and stogies pond. I am the big dog.
