The Bell Witch of Tennessee — The Sinister Past
Adams, Tennessee, 1817–1821. A frontier family is terrorized for four years by an invisible entity that speaks, sings, quotes scripture, and ultimately claims credit for a man's death — the only case in American history where a spirit has been locally credited with a killing.
In this episode, we trace the Bell Witch haunting from John Bell's first sighting of an unidentifiable creature through the entity's escalating attacks on daughter Betsy, the famous (and historically disputed) Andrew Jackson visit, and the poison vial found the morning John Bell died.
