- Jackson: Hello everyone, welcome back. No special intro from me today. My name's Jackson, that's Davis, and this is the Mike Check Podcast. Davis, what's going on? I see you're sporting Auburn on Auburn. See you seem like a happy camper over there. Tell us tell us what you're feeling now. Davis: I think I I I think this is the best I've been since we started this, to be honest with you. I'm feeling good. Jackson: I think this is I think this is the worst I've been. Literally like ten days ago, Alabama was undefeated and I was like, dang, AM's not good. we talked about the four game gauntlet in the middle of that schedule. A M's not any good, so we really just have to do we can only lose two games against LSU, Tennessee, and Georgia. Well, we're currently and two in that stretch, so Not much room for error if you're Alabama, but yeah, you g Davis: Yeah. Jackson: gotta move on, gotta gotta pick up and and get some things figured out. But yeah, sorry Davis: Yeah. Jackson: to sorry to interrupt your your good weekend, Arant. You feeling good? Davis: Yeah. Well as an Auburn fan, you know, hadn't been great recently. To make things worse, you have your two biggest rivals, Alabama and Georgia, have been dominating the college football landscape for what feels like eternity. So when you get a weekend where Auburn wins, Alabama loses, and Georgia loses, you gotta celebrate a little bit. my brother, he he he hit me with the stat the last time that Georgia lost, Bama lost, Auburn won. And I thought I wrote it down, but I didn't. I think he said two thousand and six, but it might have been even l Jackson: That's I think that's what I saw. Davis: Yeah, so that's just crazy to think about. What what a weekend in college football. We hyped up the the sl I mean everybody hyped up the slate going into this and it undoubtedly lived up to it. Man, it was fun. Th this is why we Jackson: Yeah, another Davis: love college football. Jackson: Yeah, and another kind of similar stat, doesn't have anything to do with Auburn, but Alabama, Georgia, and Texas lost regular season games on the same day for the first time since October twenty sixth, nineteen ninety six. So there was chaos yesterday. It was it was all over the place. I got home from a engagement party at like eight and I asked Macy to turn a game on and she put the Florida State Miami game on and no no no let's put better game on. I turned around, looked at the score and Florida State was winning. I like, What in the world? What's going on today? Like it was Davis: Yeah. Jackson: it was wild. But yeah, I had Auburn and Tennessee fans coming all up in my phone, blowing me up about, you know, Bama losing, Tennessee winning, Auburn winning, but Davis: my whole family, I mean like third quarter when Auburn went up two scores. I I can't tell you how many people texted me and was like, is Auburn gonna do it? Like, we're like my grandma's texted me, like, I'm so proud of Auburn. Auburn's playing so well, their quarterbacks do, and I'm just like, stop. There's a lot of game. Like, I just literally texted back everybody. A lot of game left. I was not. I was not feeding into in into any of that BS. I was locked in. It was I was way more invested than I was expecting to be. I mean, I went into that game thinking we had no sh no chance. I wasn't gonna get Yeah, Jackson: You and I both. Davis: I wasn't gonna get hurt and then in Auburn fashion, man, they they make it close and I was like, dude, we're not no, don't nope. And luckily we pulled it out. Thank God. Jackson: Yeah, well we'll go ahead and jump into it. I know, as we've said, we've got a lot to unpack, so we will go ahead and get rolling here. All right. Starting things off with the comment section pick'ems. we had a little contest last week. Hopefully we had a good bit of you guys jump in on the comments and and give your place, but we Davis: Yeah. Jackson: did have one winner. John Isaac, my boy. Good job getting it done. what'd he go? Five of six? Five for six? Five and one? Yeah. Yeah, good job. Well Davis: Five and one. Yeah. The the only miss was the the Notre Notre Dame game. Yeah. Wha when I originally calculated this up, I I I put that he had five and then I s I miscalculated someone else's and said they had five. And John Stafford did not put the tiebreaker. so we almost lost. by not putting a tiebreaker, but then I went back and recalculated it and he was the the only one that went that got five of right. So congrats to you. what? Is he Jackson: He's already he's already he's already hit me up about his plays of the week, so we'll feature three of his plays Davis: Okay, I'm looking Jackson: of the week this next week. He told me to reach out to his agent, so we'll get those and Davis: Yeah. Jackson: get up on the slides for for this next pod. Davis: I I'm looking forward to it. Jackson: All right, biggest winners and losers. I'm not sure who's going first. Let's see. Me. Davis: You're going first. Go ahead. Go ahead. Jackson: It hurts me. It hurts me to do this. but on a weekend where it seemed like nothing was going my way, I guess it's it's kind of it's kind of where we are. So Auburn is my first big winner the weekend. Get their first win in Sanford Stadium, which feels like ages. You know, to me, Auburn, when I look at their schedule and they have Bama and Georgia away, it's kinda like, All right, let's just kinda get the next year and and try to, you know, figure that out. But and Davis: Yeah. Jackson: when they have at home, I seem like it seems like they always play Bama and Georgia. Pretty close, but man, I did not see this coming. I did not see them going on the road and and taking down Georgia. But congrats Auburn. Maybe Davis: Yeah. Jackson: they'll make a bowl game now. So yeah, good job guys. Davis: Hey, don't don't try to do this to me. Let me let me let me enjoy enjoy the win. I was watching some I was watching Jackson: yeah. Davis: some other shows and it was funny because like one of the podcasts after they talked about the Auburn game, they're like, So where do you see us finishing the season? I'm like, stop with that. Just just just stop. There's no reason to get into that. We're gonna enjoy the win. We don't need to look too far in the future. Like let it let us have our moment. Jackson: Yeah. No, I agree. Take one one one game at a time. Davis: Yep. All right. So for my big winner, Chaos. We kinda opened with it, you know, five out of the top seven AP poll teams lost. We had Georgia, huge upset. Notre Dame loses to BYU. Miami squeaks by Florida State. Questionable calls to end that one. Ohio State, Indiana, someone had to lose that game. And then, you know, we'll get into the rest of these, but yeah, just what a great, great weekend of college football. Jackson: Alright, so you're next on your first loser, what you Davis: Yep. Jackson: got? Davis: My loser, I have a five star quarterbacks. I was curious because I kept seeing a lot of, you know, former five star struggle. So I wanted to go through the list and read off to you and I think y'all will find this as intriguing as I do. So Jackson: It's funny you did this before you start reading. It's funny you did this because my loser was gonna be Arch and I was like, Wait, I can like include some other guys in this and then I went through them and I was like, bang. All right, Davis: That is exactly what I went down to. Jackson: so go ahead, re read the list. Davis: Okay. So I'm gonna start in twenty twenty-six. this is just for awareness. I'm not we won't include this last year's class and in this as the losers, but the five stars from last year, Keyshawn Henderson at Houston, Jerry Curtis at Van Dy, they did lose with him at quarterback, Faison Brandon, Tennessee, did not start, and then Diabell at Texas. All right, so here's where the actual losers list starts, I guess. So I'm gonna read off every single five-star quarterback. and you can make the determination if they're a loser or you know, if you want to classify them as something else. All right. 2025, number one player in the country, Bryce Underwood, had more interceptions than touchdowns this year and was benched in the last game. Second quarterback, Heelon Russell. Has been playing great this season, but not against Tennessee. 147 yards, two interceptions, sacked five times, only put up 10 points and a loss to Tennessee. and then to round out the 2025 five-star quarterbacks, you have Tavian St. Clair, Houston Longstreet, and Deuce Knight. All right. 2024. We have DJ Lagway. He's had a decent season and a little bit of a resurgence at Baylor, but was bad last week in a loss to TCU. We then have Julian Sayan, who got the win against Indiana. Huge win. Played fine, had his moments, but you know what? For reasons that were not on him. He actually suffered a shoulder injury and will be out for I think like three or four weeks or maybe longer. so loser on that, but not really his fault. Next, Dylan Rayola was benched two weeks ago. actually came in relief of Brock Thomas last week and threw a touchdown against his former team in a win. So He's kind of the big winner right now, which is which is sad so far. So 2023, Jackson: Yeah. Davis: Arch Manning. We don't need to spend any more time on him, and we'll talk about him as we go on. next, Dante Moore, injured, has been injured for the last few weeks now, hasn't came back. Nico Iamaleava, injured and out for the season. Jackson Arnold actually had a pretty good game against Air Force, but lost. Next, Malachi Nelson, which was kind of surprised to see this. I didn't even realize it, but he is now starting at Syracuse through two interceptions Jackson: Really? Davis: and sacked five times in a loss to SMU last week. All right. We have to go back to 2022 to get a real winner of the five star quarterbacks. Can you guess who it is? Jackson: Twenty twenty two. Davis: I honestly forgot that he was a five star because he is not with the team that he committed to as a lot of these guys actually. Jackson: I was gonna say Klubnik, but I I don't know if I'd classify him as a winner. Davis: Well, he was the year before, or no, he was I think he was twenty-one. but yeah, I didn't count NFL players. It is Connor Wigman, former Texas AM quarterback, transferred to Houston, 343 yards, five touchdowns, fifty two yards on the ground in a must win game against. Oklahoma State to keep their conference title chances alive. Jackson: Wow. Yeah, it's a crazy list. I I didn't Davis: So I know that was a a long loser, but thought it was interesting kind of deep diving the five star quarterbacks. Jackson: Yeah, the I guess I saw something on Twitter as like the last four three or four number one guys haven't been haven't panned out to be all that great, but yeah, that list was a lot longer than mine. So definitely interesting to interesting to hear, for sure. Davis: Yeah. Yeah. I mean if and if you just look at like twenty twenty three, only one quarterback still on the same team, Arch Manning. Twenty twenty four, none of the quarterbacks are on the same team, if you include Julian Saiyan and Alabama. and then twenty twenty five, you already have two quarterbacks that have transferred and it's only been one year. And that was you saw in Longstreet and Dece Knight. So And don't stick around. Jackson: Alright, my first loser, Calen DeBore, Ryan Grubb. I'll leave it at that. They had a terrible game, terrible game plan. I will get into that in just a second. So promise there is more to come there, but for now I will just shut my mouth and get into it in a minute. Davis: C can we can we pause for a second and just look at your winner and your loser? Jackson: Yeah, I I I I don't like the I don't like Davis: that's awesome. Jackson: that graphic. I don't like that graphic too much. But my next my next winner kinda goes along with my loser, Jim Knowles. Yeah, I know. Sandwiched in between Davis: That was awesome. That this makes it worse. Jackson: sandwich Alabama is sandwiched in between two biggest rivals, Auburn and Tennessee. But Jim Knowles, I he called he called a hell of a game. He had a hell of a game plan and he shut that offense down, which was really thriving before the Tennessee game. Obviously Georgia slowed that down a little bit, but I think a lot of the Georgia game had to do with Time possession really. I mean, Bama just didn't get the ball that much in the second half against Georgia, but man, they couldn't do anything. So props to Jim Knowles. Did a great job. Davis: All right, my winner was the BYU quarterbacks plural. So I know you can think of one, and that's Bear Bachmeyer. had a good game against Notre Dame in a big upset, put up 269 yards, two touchdowns in that game. The next quarterback that I'm talking about is Steve Young. Yes, that's Steve Young. Jackson: yeah. Davis: NFL Hall of Famer and BYU quarterback from 1980 to 1983. he was the guest picker. on college game day and in a week filled with upsets and chaos, he went pin and in his picks. So hard to do. Maybe we need him on the pod 'cause I haven't had his I haven't had the same luck. It's been a little rough for me over here. Jackson: Yeah, that when you put the BYU QBs thing in the graphic, I was like, What is he talking about? Like I swear Baerbogmeyer played that whole game, but maybe I missed something. So I went back and tried to look at the box for it. I didn't see anything, so I was like, I'll just figure it out whenever we get to this point. So yeah, Steve Young did a hell of a job in another note kind of on that same topic. Kirk Herbstreet's dog, Peter, I think is his name, that picks he like he'll put two toys with logos on either side and he'll like pick the winner of the game. He is now for six or for seven. He is winless this year. So something else to keep an eye on if you're if you're into that kind of stuff. All right. Your next loser. Davis: right. so my loser is streaks. There was a lot of streaks that ended this week, and I'll start rattling them off now. So Indiana before the game held the longest active win streak in college football with 22. That came to a halt in a loss against Ohio State. As soon as they lost, Notre Dame then possessed the longest win streak in college football. That lasted about six hours. Georgia had a 53-game win streak against unranked opponents. That ended. AP number one teams had a 93-game win streak versus unranked teams. That also ended. Arkansas snapped their 14-game SEC losing streak against Bandy. And shout out to Charlotte, who had the longest active losing streak with 15 games. They got a win last week. So lot of streaks ended. Jackson: Yeah. It was a crazy weekend, that is for sure. But our last loser is Texas. Kind of low hanging fruit on this one, but you have Florida coming into town, kinda limping into into your home stadium in Austin and that's just a game you can't lose if you're Texas. I mean with the with a gauntlet s of a schedule that you go through in the SEC, a home game against a team like Florida, who is not bad. I mean they beat some good teams. Florida's a great team, but or sorry, they're a good team. I don't think they're a great team. I just I think that's one you can't afford to lose if you're Texas. So unfortunate for them, but I think that kinda puts them behind a lot of teams in terms of like the race to get to Atlanta and maybe even the culture all playoff. I mean, I know they have some good wins, but shoot, you can't lose three to four games and still expect to get into the postseason. So we'll see. But for the for now, Texas is a big loser. And I did see today on Twitter that they are they're giving some reps to Who is their backup? Now I want to say Malik Dia, but who is it's a guy from KJ Lacey. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: KJ Lacey, their backup. in practice. They have said that Arch is still the starter for now, but they are testing the waters a little bit with Lacey. So interesting Davis: Yeah. Jackson: developments there. All right, first game recap. Ohio State nineteen, Indiana fifteen. What'd you think about this one? I mean it was kind of an ugly game. neither team was really able to like move the ball super well against the other. Indiana and Ohio State. Both teams struggled to run the ball, which kind of really made things a lot harder in the passing game. what else what else do Davis: Yeah. Jackson: you take away from that one? Davis: Yeah, you hit the nail on the head with running the ball. You know, both teams definitely struggled, which put them put both quarterbacks in third and long more frequently than I know both coaches would have liked. both quarterbacks I thought were fine. Saiyan, you know, had a couple misses, looked rattled. Hoover, while he put up some good numbers, didn't have any interceptions. I thought he looked I thought he looked good enough to win. Really it came down to Indiana's inability to finish drives and really like just not being able to take advantage of the opportunity. They had two missed field goals and then I don't know if y'all saw it, but the very last play, Josh Hoover threw I think it was like a fourth and Fourth and long threw threw a deep ball to Marsh and I think his feet were out of bounds by like five inches and that would have won the game. So just just a lot of missed opportunities for Indiana. You gotta feel like they could have won. I don't know if I'll go all the way to say they should have won, but yeah, Ohio State. won in the rematch and ended their twenty two game win streak. Jackson: Yeah, and another thing I'll say about this, and I'm mad at myself that I didn't mention this in the preview show, but Julian Sayan has been not great against like very good teams. I don't have the stats in front of me, but I I was reading something earlier last week and it was just basically saying like when you look at the really good teams, I don't know if it was ranked teams or like top ten teams, but he is significantly worse than he is against, you know. A team that's not as good. So he wasn't efficient fifteen or twenty-nine for two thirty-five. He had two touchdowns, but he also had two picks. So yeah, just just not the Julian that we have seen against some of these other schools. Then you go across the other side to Josh Hoover, 20 to 40, 296, and a touchdown. No pick, but I think he did have the fumble. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I wanna I wanna revisit what I said about Josh Hoover and kind of My general take on what that has been so far this season. So I'm not saying Josh Hoover is bad. I don't think he's, you know, a bad quarterback. I just don't think he's Mendoza. I don't think he's the difference maker that can win you a game when you're in a game like this and you neither team could run the ball. You're playing a good defense. I just don't think he can win you a game like that. And I know they were inches away from he was inches away from pulling that off, but I just don't think he has the capability to Of just putting the team on his back and and getting it done. But just wanted to clear the air. I don't think he's a bad quarterback. Davis: But I I wanna push back on that a little bit. And I don't wanna be the I don't wanna be the Josh Hoover guy. I didn't expect that to be I don't want that to be what I'm known for. But if I remember correctly, the words that you gave me were they mystic quarterback. And if it it Jackson: I do think they missed that quarterback. When you spend Davis: I if you're if you're if the bar for missing at quarterback is not getting a Fernando Mendoza, the number one overall pick, then every then every team but one team, whoever got the number one overall pick upcoming, missed at quarterback. So I think that those were unfair expectations if you or anyone else was thinking that he'd be Fernando Mendoza. I didn't think that. I still don't think that. I think he's Jackson: I I wasn't thinking he'd be a Mendoza, but I think I was thinking he would be a little more like like the other tier. I mean like Mensa or I just don't even think he's like middle upper tier. I think he's just more middle tier. And I think that's fine if your team's able to run the ball and and have balance on offense, but I don't think he can be Superman and just take over games. But and Davis: Alright, I'm gonna Jackson: again they they played Ohio State. Like I'm not saying I don't think anyone's going out against Ohio State and putting up, you know, three fifty and four touchdowns. But Davis: Yeah. Jackson: yeah, it's just more of a Davis: We're we're gonna we're gonna play a game of Jackson: It's just more of my analysis thing. Davis: a of a would you rather real quick. You ready? And Jackson: Alright, hit me. Yep. Davis: I'm I'm gonna go to the transfer portal quarterback ratings rankings from last year. let me Jackson: Yeah. I'm thinking okay, just before we do this, in my head I think there was a better quarterback that they could have paid the same amount that was better than Hoover. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but just off top of my head I feel like there was a better guy. Davis: Well well, Mensah was was there, so that I mean that's w that's one. Jackson: That's a lot of money. I don't know how much they're paying Hoover, but yeah. Davis: I don't know. I'm struggling to get this up. Just give me one second. Okay, you ready? All right, so I'm gonna start at the top and this is according to on three at the time of evaluation, which I guess at the time of the portal. All right, Josh Hoover or Sam Levitt? Jackson: The same. I'll maybe Joshua. Davis: Yeah, that's I'm gonna I i i if if we if we separate Jackson: Equal. I I say equal. Davis: them from their coach and it's just like in a vacuum, I think I'm going Hoover. But if you're asking me like who do I like if I get to bring Lane Kiffin with me, then I'll go Levitt. But in a vacuum, I think I go Hoover. Messamaker or Hoover. I Jackson: Yeah. All right. Mess maker. Davis: agree. Mensah or Hoover. Jackson: Mentor. Davis: Yeah, easily. All right. So that was the top three. And then Hoover is four. Byron Brown or Hoover? Jackson: Hoover. Well, I don't know. For that style offense here, I'd take Hoover. Davis: And this is I mean, so th th this is also just in a vacuum, not trying to separate the player from the team, the player from his teammates, just in a vacuum. If we would if you're Indiana, would you rather have Byron Brown or Josh Hoover? Jackson: Over. Davis: Yeah, I I think I agree with you. Or I do agree with you. I do agree with you. And then so Byron Brown was five. And then so we'll go Ryola, Hisan Long Longstreet, Rocco Beck, DJ Lagway. All those are definitely no's. Austin Simmons at ten. Jackson: Yeah, but that's kind of a I mean they they kind of not gonna fault them for not taking Austin Simmons over Hoover. Which I don't know though. Davis: No, I'm saying you. I'm saying you. Jackson: me? I would take Simmons. Davis: Okay. So I think that's that's probably the list. So out of the transfer portal quarterbacks I think we're Yeah. Jackson: Yeah, I guess there were there wasn't a lot of hits other than the top three. So and Mestermaker was going with his coach and Mensa is getting paid six and Davis: Byron Brown was going with his code. Jackson: Yeah, and then Mensa's getting paid six and a half million dollars. So yeah. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I mean, I don't know. I know it's kinda hard to judge based off a Georgia Tech offense, but I don't know how bad Al Alberto Mendoza is, but I'd probably rather have Hoover anyways just 'cause of the experience but yeah. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: And I'm not okay, let's let's also make another thing clear. Davis: Okay. I was just honestly curious. I wanted to look for myself as well. Felt like that was a fun exercise to to go through. Jackson: Yeah, well I I'm not saying that there was a better guy or I guess I was saying that when I said they miss, but maybe it was just a bad year of portal guys. I just think he is not great. Like I don't maybe there wasn't a better guy that they could have gotten, but I Davis: Yeah. Jackson: s just because I still don't think he's that good. Just because he was the best out of the bunch. So Davis: Yeah. Yeah. You think they can win a national championship? Jackson: Not with Hoover, no. Davis: You don't so? all right. Yeah. Sorry, I took Jackson: Could be eating my words here in a few a few months, but no, clip it. Davis: Oregon as my national championship champion, so I think we kind of covered everything with this game. actually I I do w have one thing I wanted to cover. Indiana did score late, but they went through a stretch between the middle of the second quarter and in the early third quarter where just just listen to these miscues. All right, here are their drives. Missfield goal, thirty-two yarder, end of half, fumble, fumble, missfield goal. Can't have that if you're gonna if you're trying to knock off a top four team in the nation. Jackson: Yeah. Yep, can't do it. And sometimes that's what it comes down to. Mistakes. one last thing, these teams are a lot closer than I thought. And I think that's bringing Indiana up and bringing Ohio State down. So Davis: yeah, I've been slowly fading back on my Ohio State. I I g I think I was like notably low on them before the season and then even after the Texas game I was like I came away impressed and then they've continued to dominate. And then I actually took Indiana in this game. So maybe I've just been all over the place with Ohio State. Jackson: Yeah, it's kinda hard to get a read on. Saiyan's been, like I said, against really good teams, he's just been i inconsistent. So you see put up a lot of points and beat the heck out of a team like Illinois, and then the next week you play a tough Davis: Yeah. Jackson: team like Indiana and he doesn't look so good. So it's kinda hard to get a real read on Davis: Yep. They have a bye week this week this week. Then they go USC, Oregon, and then Northwestern. Three r no, Oregon's not ranked. Three good tough matchups, especially if Dante Moore's back. But you're probably gonna be without Julian Saiyan for all three of those. Jackson: Yeah, that's tough. I don't know who's gonna be out that long. Davis: Yeah. Didn't they stay like three to four weeks? Jackson: Yeah, I think you're right. I think you're right. I haven't I haven't seen like an official report since like Saturday, but I think or Sunday maybe it was, but yeah, I think generally speaking it would they said like three or four weeks. Davis: Yeah, they said I think the latest update is at least several weeks. So probably three weeks. Jackson: Alright. Next game, Notre Dame 24, BYU 28. This game was I mean this game was all BYU in the first half. Like they came out and scored 21 points on Notre Dame's defense in the first half, and I was like very surprised. I mean, I did not see this coming. I thought that Notre Dame's defense would really make them one dimensional, but You know, you gotta give a lot of credit to BYU's OC 'cause he like really got in his bag with play calling and was able to keep some things up and kinda had Notre Dame on their heels for most that first half. So yeah. A a lot of credit to their OC But Notre Dame came back in second half. They would not go away. D BYU's defense held up a lot better than I thought they would. Honestly, before the game I I kinda just thought Notre Dame's dudes were a lot better than BYU's dudes, but they stacked up well against them and were able to kinda hold their own and and make it a game and end up pulling it out in the end. So yeah, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: BYU now number two the country, they are there for real. Davis: Yep. Definitely helps when you're eight of twelve on third down. Notre Jackson: Yeah. Davis: Dame just couldn't get off the field. Jackson: Yeah. Honestly when when they fake that punt, be why you faked the punt. Davis: that was so ugly. That was Jackson: I mean, what are you doing if you're Sataki? Like you're in the game. It's not like you just need some Hail Mary to flip the momentum. I mean, they they were Davis: They were they were winning. They were winning and it was like and I'm I I'm I'm typically the like like to be aggressive guy and they did that and I was like I had to like double take and like did did I miss something? Are they los that have I like is the score wrong? Jackson: Well and and most of the times when stuff like that works, it catches me off guard. I'm like, Whoa, yeah, that's why it worked 'cause like nobody saw it coming. I definitely wouldn't have seen it coming and yeah, I guess with this one, like I didn't see it coming and I don't think they should have done it. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: this one did not it did not pay off, but yeah. Davis: Yeah, luckily luckily it didn't didn't hurt or wasn't the reason like didn't make them lose. So yeah, or he would have been kicking himself for a while. Jackson: Yeah, another I'm just kind of r reading through the box score. They forced CJ Carr to throw the ball forty nine times. And if before the game you told me he was gonna throw it almost fifty times, I would have said, Whoa, like what in the world is going on? Because the last few weeks Notre Dame has really just been pounding teams, running the ball, control staying ahead of the change, like we mentioned in the preview show. Davis: Mm-hmm. Jackson: not a lot of negative plays. They like playing ahead of the sticks and they were able to do that pretty effectively given all the talent they have on their roster and and how efficient they've been running the ball. So yeah, Nolan James ran sixteen carries for seventy seven yards. CJ Carr twenty seven to forty nine for two sixty one. I mean, it's just not the kind of game you want to play for Notre Dame, especially going on the road. CJ Carr's good, but I mean, throwing the ball fifty times in a road environment like that is never is never fun. So Davis: Yeah. Jackson: yeah, credit to BYU. They had a great great game plan and it and it worked. So Davis: Yep. So under Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame has five wins in the regular seasons or in the regular season against teams which finished the season ranked. Two of those are against service academies. The others are number twenty USC last year, twenty-one NC State in twenty twenty three, and thirteen Clemson in twenty twenty two. I know that we had that the conversation that Notre Dame doesn't beat anybody and they kinda shut some people up when they made the college football playoff two years ago, but I'm not pushing back on anybody that starts bringing that back up again. Jackson: Yeah. So off the top of my head I don't remember this because they were my champion and I kind of took note of their schedule when I had as my one seed. So their three tough games this year were BYU, SMU, and Miami. I think if you lose one more, you might be out given the rest of that schedule and how Davis: How's it? Jackson: weak their their remaining opponents are, other than those three games. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: So Davis: Yeah, I I I'll say I'll be I would be shocked if their two losses are BYU and Miami and BYU and Miami continue their current trajectory and they were to not make the playoffs. Jackson: Yeah, but you gotta look at the rest of the t the schedule. Like they wouldn't have a ranked win on there. Davis: I I didn't I didn't say that I think that they should or shouldn't. I said I'd be surprised. Jackson: Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Did you okay one other thing, and we haven't talked about this, so if you don't know the answer, like all good, because I don't know the answer either, but when Notre Dame got snubbed last year out of the playoff, I saw something come up where like from now on, if Notre Dame is has a certain ranking, they will be automatically in the playoffs. Is that a thing? Or or no? Do you know anything about that? Davis: That so that that yeah, Jackson: Like they're treated differently. Davis: that was yeah, that was approved, but I don't know if it was approved for this year. Jackson: Okay. We'll revisit that Wednesday. Davis: Because the way that I understand it is, you know, they did the twelve team playoff and it was like a two year thing and then they reevaluate it. And then like after the that debacle last year, they were like, Okay, when whenever we reevaluate the twelve team, we'll have this like asterisk rule for Notre Dame. And then that's for not this this year, but for next year, and then now that doesn't even matter because they ended up going with the twenty four playoff and I can't believe we haven't talked about that. And maybe we'll Yeah, maybe we Jackson: Yeah. Well it's not official yet, but Davis: I'm not a fan. I'll just say that. Maybe we save that for another day 'cause we're we got a lot of games to talk through. But d don't Jackson: Yeah, we we can touch on Davis: don't quote me on that, but it could be in play. Jackson: Yeah, we'll we will g get a for sure answer and get back next pod 'cause that is something to start looking at now with one loss against BYU and their three game schedule, so it's something something we need to be paying attention to. But Davis: Yeah. Jackson: anything else on this game before we before we move on? Davis: No, BYU's legit. Jackson: Yep, number two in the country. All right, let me take a deep breath. Davis: Mm. Jackson: Alabama, ten. Tennessee, twenty-six. this was one of the worst coached games I have ever witnessed on the offensive side for Alabama. Like what in the hell are you doing thinking like what are you what is the game plan here? You're missing your starting center, Rayson Delgati. You're missing Ryan Colemanwood. Yeah, I mentioned it. Yeah. Yeah. Davis: Did we know that last week going into the A we didn't? Okay. That's that was big. Jackson: Yeah, like I mean, I don't know if anyone watched this game, Xavier or what's his name? Davis: Saviour Gilliam. Jackson: Xavier Gilliam. Dude, he just blew everything up. I mean, you could not run Davis: He's so good. Jackson: from guard to guard. Anywhere Davis: He's so good. Jackson: guard, center guard, you could not run in there. And even on the outsides, honestly. But I think the thing that made me the most mad in this game is that Ryan Grubb and Kaylin Abor did not change the scheme. They did not change things for Keelan Russell and that offense to like they ran right into Tennessee's strength. Cause I think in their mind they're like, okay, we're we've been able to run the ball pretty well between the tackles. Keelan's been able to throw the ball downfield pretty well. So we're just going to do the same thing in this game. Even though Tennessee defends the run very good and they do not let receivers get behind them, they just decided that they were going to do the same thing and hope it worked. And in front of 105,000 people at Nealand Stadium screaming their heads off. So they just put They just put this offensive a terrible situation. I mean Keelan Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Russell and offensive linemen and receivers and running backs, they have to take the blame too because they did not execute a dang thing. I mean, nothing. Like I haven't even looked at the box score for this game. It's probably worse than it looks and it looks pretty bad. It was it was bad. Davis: Well if we want to look at the advanced numbers real quick and I I pulled up the chart and it's it's it's ugly. Alabama had a second percentile EPA per play, a ninth percentile success rate, a fifth percentile yards per play. I mean you just go down the list and it's I mean it's all it's all low percentiles and like Tennessee didn't Didn't do anything great from an offensive standpoint, but man, did that defense wreak havoc. And Matthew really, really called it. I remember vividly he said that Alabama struggles with pressure up the middle. Tennessee's D-line is great, especially Xavier Gilliam. he didn't have any sacks in this game, but I know his presence was felt. Jackson: it was like miserable. I mean, I I haven't seen that bad of an Alabama offense performance like since I can remember. Even the game against Clemson in the national championship where Bama just got boat raced. I mean w we were in that game, we just couldn't score, if that makes any sense. Like we were getting yards and moving the ball, but we just couldn't score points. It was the craziest thing. But this game was like I mean, there's nothing. I can't believe we we scored ten points. And I think both of those were gift our possession started in Tennessee territory. So just terrible game for Alabama. I if you're Calen DeBore and Ryan Grubb, you have to start scheming things around your players and their strengths as well as the defense that you're playing that week's strengths. Like Tennessee's defense is too good for you just to say, all right, we're gonna do what we do and we're gonna do it better than them. And Davis: Yeah. Jackson: when that doesn't work, you have to change your plan. I mean People complained about on Twitter the play calling. I mean the play calling, like the running the ball wasn't working and passing the ball wasn't working. So yeah, I mean, you can't call you can't be a good play caller if nothing's working. I think it it's all about the scheme. Your scheme was terrible, but I'll shut up. Tennessee's defense, I do want to give them credit, Jim Knowles. I I mentioned it in the winners and losers section Davis: Mm-hmm. Jackson: of the pod, but he called a great game. He had his guys ready. And in terms of Tennessee's offense, Kane Wamick was just I mean Albums defense played great. that twenty six, the offense put him in bad situations with four turnovers a lot of times. Davis: There was a there was a a pick six, right? Or fumble six. Jackson: no, they called that back. They called it back. Tennessee got the ball there, which was like the ten or fifteen yard line. They only scored three and they got the ball on like the twenty yard line. Yeah. Davis: he picked it up with his knee knee on the ground, right? Yeah. Jackson: Yeah. Tennessee got the ball like within in the red zone from a Bama turnover, I think twice and only scored three or six points. So defense played good, but at the end of the game they were gassed, and then I think the thing that frustrated me the most was George McIntyre, the Tennessee quarterback, is a somewhat new starting quarterback. I know he played last week against Arkansas, but they were just running the ball and throwing quick screens and quick passes. Bama's defense wasn't pressing the receivers to make him put the ball in a tight spot or throw the ball downfield. They were just playing cushion and they were playing the run. Which, yeah, play the run, but I mean don't play so much cushion on those receivers because They didn't make McIntyre beat them. They just kind of he took what they gave him and and that was enough to win the game with with how bad the offense was playing, so Davis: Yeah. Jackson: With all that being said, tough week for Bama. Tennessee, believe it or not, I think Tennessee is giable. I looked to see what the spread was for the South Carolina game, Tennessee South Carolina game. It opened at Tennessee minus two and a half. It is now South Carolina minus two and a half. So interesting thing to watch if you're Tennessee going into next week and a potential light down spot. Davis: I was gonna I was gonna save it, but the potential letdown spots have basically been guaranteed letdown spots, it feels like this year. You play a big game, win or lose, and you lay a dud next week. I mean the there's so many examples. I'll I might save a couple of the examples for our our preview show next week. Probably gonna go more vibes takes when when it comes to that 'cause Hard to hard to fit that into the numbers per se. Jackson: Yeah. Well, I know that was a lot. Do you have anything to say about this game or we'll move on? Davis: I have the the big T V on the Auburn game and then the another T V on this game and when the kick went in for Auburn, I let out a deep exhale and was very excited that we won. And then I look over and I neglected this game for a while and and almost forgot about it and then realized Alabama lost too. it was nice. I I know I'm rubbing it in, but it'll probably be like the only time Jackson: It's okay. It's okay. It's Davis: I'll be able to ever Jackson: It's fine. I've this was a tough weekend. It was okay. It's okay. I I'm I'm I'm eating it. We're moving on, but this is we're still doing the recap show, so I knew this was my final goodbye to week seven. So get it all out this one, 'cause next one I'm I'm clapping back. But all right, next game. Florida twenty-seven, Texas twenty-four. I mentioned it before. It's a it's a game you just can't lose if you're Texas. Florida going with a new quarterback this week. Do you think that was more injury thing or you think that was more of a let's try something new thing? Davis: I think they said it was injury. Yeah. Tremel Jones. he stepped in, played pretty well. I mean, they didn't ask too much of them. They were able to kind of get the running game going. They definitely used his legs. it was surprising because Florida actually went down 10-0 early in this game. And I mean, I I know we both called it we thought it was gonna be a get right game for Texas's offense and it was far from it. it actually was the exact opposite. but yeah, Florida really controlled this game after the first quarter and held on for a victory. Arch Manning, terrible game. the numbers don't look good either. He finished fourteen of twenty. For 173 yards and a touchdown. And I know that doesn't sound terrible, but sixty yards were on a single play. Great play, by the way. It was the fourth and like twenty. And he kind of just like rolled, not rolled out, but stepped up and just took a hit and threw it deep and it was right on the money. So great, great ball there, which was really his only bright spot. Took five sacks. A lot of them weren't even on him either. just holding the ball too long, look lost out there. Doesn't look good for for Arch Banning, not at all. And you kinda already covered that that the backup's starting to get some reps in in practice. Jackson: Yeah. so you look at the stats, Florida didn't get all that many yards. I mean i it was decent, but three thirteen's not just, you know, outstanding against going on the road and playing against a team like Texas, but so Florida's yards per play three point nine yards. Texas's yards per play were five point four yards. So, you know, you may be thinking, Well, what in the heck happened? Well, the time of possession Thirty-eight minutes of time in possession compared to Texas's twenty one minutes of time in possession. So Flooder just took the w the ball away from and and held the ball, were able to convert some third downs, got some fourth downs conversions too, and limited the amount of times that Arch and Texas's offense had the ball, which, we've talked about how much that offense has struggled. So just put their backs against the wall and put some pressure on the Texas offense and they just weren't able to to come up and and get the win. So yeah. We we've covered a lot on Texas. Don't have the a a terribly hard schedule going forward, but it definitely is not easy. So this week they have Ole Miss at home, they have Mississippi State at home, they play Missouri on the road, they play L S U on the road, they have Arkansas at home and then on the road at Texas A and So yeah. Someone will games there, but definitely not a lot of gimme's if you're Texas. it'll be interesting to see what they do with the quarterback situation. Gotta gotta make a decision fast and and roll with it though if you're if you're Steve Sarkeesia. Davis: Yep. To make matters worse, Colin Simmons, one of the best defensive players in the country, high ankle sprain, expected to miss a couple weeks. Jackson: Yeah, that's a that's a big deal. 'Cause he Davis: Big blow, huge blow. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah. Alright Davis, go ahead. Take it away. You may not think about this. It may be a while before you get to say Auburn B, Georgia. Again. So take it away. It's it you're center stage right now. Davis: Yeah. I so I'll I'll set the stage a little bit. Georgia got the ball to start the game, went on like a five play, seventy five yard touchdown drive that I mean there wasn't it it was just twenty yards, twenty yards, ten, fifteen, twenty. And then I think we got a first down and then punted it, and then they did the exact same thing again. And just in the snap of the fingers, this game was fourteen And I I think I checked the live eyes and it was like 38 spread or something ridiculous. And I didn't think this game would be close, but it looked like this was gonna be much uglier than even I was anticipating. And all the credit goes to Golish and the mentality that he's instilled in this program. no one quit, no one blinked an eye. No one felt sorry for themselves. Auburn came back, punched Georgia in the mouth, and just repeatedly like won at the lines of scrimmage, which was just shocking. I mean, all Auburn Jackson: Shocking. Yeah. Davis: ran for 192 yards. A lot of that was with Byron Brown and like the plus one quarterback run game, but it didn't matter. Like our O line was not good throughout the season. And I was very worried coming into this game. And they stepped up. And then you look at Georgia's Georgia's rushing yards. I mean, 113. they they really didn't run it as many times as they should have. They had fine success against it or against us, but still, I mean, you outgained Georgia by almost eighty yards on the ground, just shocking. but yeah, 17 14 at half. Auburn starts to pull away with some very costly turnovers from Gunnar Stockton. He has two bad interceptions. His first multi-interception game of his career. very uncharacteristic, especially with the way that we saw him against Alabama where he was surgical. And Auburn goes up twenty four ten and I was starting to get worried. I that's when everybody started texting me like congratulations and I'm just like, No, stop this. Yeah, Jackson: I should have texted you, maybe that would've helped. Davis: Georgia fought back and had a chance to put it in field goal range and Gunnar Stockton fumbled on a QB draw. and this was probably with a minute left, Auburn was able to put together a couple first downs, got within about fifty yard field goal range, and then what Georgia has kind of done all game, they committed another costly mistake. Which was a rough in the passer that moved the field goal up to about a twenty-five yarder. And McPherson hit it and the rest is history. Guess that was a pretty big recap, but all that to say, Georgia definitely shot themselves in the foot a lot, but it doesn't matter. A win is a win. Albert impressed me. I think Georgia's fine. but yeah, hell of a win for the program. program changing win and I'm super proud, super happy for the fan base. It it long overdue. Jackson: Yeah, it was long overdue. Auburn's kinda swung and missed at a few of these head coaches, but I texted someone, an Auburn fan, that gave me some some crap after this game and I was like Dude, I hate it, but I I really do like Goalish. Like as a person and as a coach, like I think he's he's got he's got Auburn headed in the right direction, which is unfortunate, but Davis: Yeah. Jackson: it is what it is. It was bound to happen at some point. Auburn's kind Davis: Yeah. Jackson: of a a sleeping giant that's been asleep for a long time, so Davis: Yeah. Jackson: It's it's about that time. Davis: Yeah, and I guess throughout the season I've maybe not been sold on Goalish on as a like game day coach, as like a strategic coach. and where he has really like made his presence felt is is in that like the culture that he's setting. And while that hasn't up until this game hasn't like equivalent to any wins, I think that this win can be attributed to that. I think that this is where we felt the benefit of of what he's building in that program. you go down 14 0 years ago last year with freeze. That team is quitting. That team that team quit last year. against Georgia when they were winning. I don't know if you remember, but it was like fourth and goal from the one inch line. Auburn had a chance to go up 17 and whether or not he crossed the goal line, who knows. But it was right before half and what is what does Freeze start doing? He starts bitching to the to the reporter, starts woe is me. crying and I'm just like, we just lost. Like, like your players take like take after you and and you have not been able to move on from that moment. neither are your players. So yeah, I I'm just glad with the win. proud of Golish and proud of the team. And I definitely definitely enjoyed it because it was long overdue. Jackson: All right, well I don't have anything else to add. I'm I've said enough positivity about Auburn this episode, so All right, Missouri three Ole Miss thirty one. I mean, not really much to talk about this game. Missouri actually started this game up three zero, which is crazy. another thing, Austin Simmons threw for three hundred and thirty nine passing yards and they only scored three points. Yeah. Davis: Yeah. And only had one turnover. It's like what the what the hell was happening? I couldn't have been more wrong about this game. I thought that Missouri's defense was gonna be able to shut down that running game and that was not the case. Ole Miss was able to do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. nine of fourteen on th on third down, just just yeah, absolute beat down. Ole Miss's defense is looking better and better as the The weeks go on, and they face a struggling Texas offense this week. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, I'm excited for that game. almost I mean, they really just whipped him on both sides of the line of scrimmage, which, like you said, was kind of surprising. They really shut down the run game, which yeah, made Simmons one dimensional in the past game and he showed he can be a great passer and he threw, like I said, for three thirty nine. So I mean, if if we took away the logos, took away the scores, and I said, Davis, these are two box scores. What was the score of this game? I don't think your answer would be anywhere close to thirty one to three, but Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Is what it is. Another another big thing that a lot of people don't pay attention to, but Olmus punted the ball four times. Every single punt they had, they downed it inside the twenty. So they're making him go the whole field most of the night. So yeah. Big win for Pete Golding. I don't know why it was thirty one to three looking at the box score. I caught bits and pieces of the game, but Guess you can say Ole Miss dominated him. they did take away their their best thing on offense, which was running the ball. So I think ultimately that was the key for Ole Miss. We mentioned that in the preview show. you also mentioned a second ago Missouri's defense wasn't able to really recap it like we may have thought. I really thought Missouri would score more points than this. I mentioned the over in this game is something that I thought was pretty pretty likely to occur, but did not get the points from Missouri. Alright, so we mentioned it's been a crazy week. Let's let's unpack the rest of the slate. we talked about Florida State. I'll talk about Arizona State, Texas Tech in a minute with my upset check. I don't know if anyone sit up to watch it, but the Utah Colorado game was a lot closer than I expected. I know I guess you expected too, 'cause that was your play of the week. Davis: Yeah. Yeah, that was ugly. Colorado should have won that game too. I mean Jackson: Yeah. Davis: you look at a lot of the numbers and it's Colorado really dominated. So maybe Utah's not as good as we thought. or maybe Colorado finally got the c quarterback situation figured out. I don't know. Jackson: That's a Rover game too. Gotta gotta keep that. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Mississipp State does not put up a fight at all against LSU. And that's kinda I guess we'll get in we're about to see the the pick six breakdown, but we kinda all said that. You know, if if Kamaro Taylor doesn't play, we think this w we'll get sideways. or Matthew may have had Mississippi State either way, but I f I remember saying that Davis: I said it too. Jackson: you did? Davis: I was like, I mean if you're gonna make me pick now, I'm gonna say I'm making this pick based on Camario Taylor playing and I'm if you're gonna s make me choose Jackson: Yeah, yeah. Davis: now, I want Camario Taylor to play. Jackson: Right. But I just did not think that dude could do anything going on the road at a tiger stadium and I was right, so I'll pat myself on the back for that. But Davis: Yeah. So in my I did comment, I put my own comment underneath or on the video last week. and I put LSU even though on the pod I said Mississippi State because Jackson: Yeah. Davis: when I commented I had already gotten the information about Camario Taylor. So maybe I get like a push or something. I I I need I need all the help I Jackson: Yeah. Davis: can get with my record. It's not too great. Jackson: Yeah. all right, other games. Oklahoma State, Houston. Game was kind of what we thought it would be. It was a high scoring, old school Big Twelve shootout. Houston just came out on top there, made one more play than Oklahoma State did. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: both teams I think are really good. Going down SMU. I don't know what's going on with SMU's offense. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I mean, Virginia's defense is not just outstanding and Last week they didn't put up many points on Boston College. So I feel like the identity of that SMU team is is Kevin Jennings and Rhett Lashley and their explosive plays on offense. But they have not been playing up to their full potential, it seems like, when it comes to the offensive side of the ball. So something to watch out for if they run into a a big big name school with a really good defense. I don't know if SMU will be able to to hang with them, but could get ironed out. Any other I know we mentioned Nebraska, Oregon, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: any other games on this slate, I feel like we've we've kind of covered most of them. Davis: Yeah, that Michigan Ohio Michigan Penn State game was ugly. Bryce Thunderwood gets benched. backup kind of comes in and fills the deal. And then same goes for Oregon, Nebraska. Brock Thomas starts that game at for Oregon. cool story with Dylan Rayola coming in to beat his former team with a a touchdown drive. both of those were were fun kind of less talked about games. And then Wake Forest blows out Cal. Only reason I'm bringing that up is because you had them as your most underrated team. That calls looking better and better. Dio Lopez is playing out of his mind. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah. The reason I skipped that one was because they were my play of the week, so I figured we'd cover it in minute. But yeah, they're they're playing insane. They're going up and Cal's going down. That game was just a opposite trajectory game in terms of the vibes for both teams. So yeah, Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Wick Force. They're beating teams big time though. Like wig they're not just winning games. They are beating the crap out of teams. So I'm Davis: Yeah. Jackson: excited to see them play. I know they played Miami, but I would like I wish they'd get another shot against a a good team like that so we could really kinda see how far they've come and how good they really are. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: All right, pick six, Davis: Ooh. Jackson: seven and five week for me, five and seven week for Davis. Matthew went four and eight. Man. Davis: This was I I started off brutal. I know I guess these games are kinda out of order. I think I started like O for five and I was like, dude, I might I might have to come in with a bag over my head and then and then Auburn won and then I was like, I don't I don't care. I could go for twelve Jackson: Yeah. Davis: if it means Auburn went in every week. yeah. Jackson: Yeah, w we we've covered most of these games, but yeah, it brings our season record. Davis, you're at twenty-four, twenty-seven and one. I am at twenty-seven and twenty-four and one. Matthew, we will not read his. If you are watching, you can see his record. Davis: Yeah. Here's here's the next six, which I'm glad we did because I got it together a little bit. Jackson: Yeah, a little more green on this page. Davis: There were some good lines here that I just happen to be on the opposite side of. Virginia lost by ten, nine and a half point spread. Houston, one by four, four and a half points spread. Didn't get that one either. Indiana lost by three, three and a half point spread. So Three games with a total of one and a half points. It's tough to go and three on those three very, very, very close close lines. Jackson: Did we n the upset check? I mean, did did none of us hit I know Davis: Yeah. Jackson: none of us none of them won outright, but I guess none of them covered. Virginia didn't, Arizona State didn't. Did Georgia check? Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I don't know if they covered or not. I guess not. Davis: Nah, Georgia Tech didn't. Jackson: Alright, so three misses. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: not much to add. I think Texas Tech is getting better as the season is going along. the win yesterday against or the other day against Harrison Estate was pretty convincing. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: yeah, we'll it at that. Davis: What how many did we have on here? Auburn, obviously. Is Jackson: That one. Davis: that the only one? Jackson: Yeah, Florida State almost got it done. Hawaii almost got it done too. yeah, I think that was it. Davis: Yeah. There's always one. Jackson: There's always one. It's crazy. But all right. Plays of the week. Recap, Davis, I'll let you go first. Davis: Yeah, Utah probably should have lost this game, so definitely didn't deserve cover in fifteen and a half. Jackson: Yep. I had Wake mention it a second ago. I think they are one of the hottest teams in the country right now. And I think with a struggling cow team, a team total over thirty was kind of a a given. So yeah, they got it done for me. Matthew had Oregon State minus seventeen and a half and they get the job done for him. His season record is actually better than one and no. The last time he came on, he gave his plays of the week and I think he well, I'm I think I know he had a winning record. So Matthew is struggling Davis: Yeah, he went two and one. Jackson: in the pick six. Yeah. But he's he he's he's doing what he's The home is ground in the plays of the week, so all right, it's time for mic drop. So if you're new here, this is a little game we like to play. We we've been just playing it on the preview shows, but Davis wanted to do that this time. He felt bad for not being prepared last time. So we will get it rolling. So I'm thinking of a player. I will give Davis five hints, sometimes it's more than that, but they will progressively get h easier. So the first one's gonna be really hard and then they'll get easier as they go and he'll try to guess the player. So I'll Davis: Yeah. Jackson: just go ahead and say mine's a maybe a little harder. I don't know the extent of your knowledge with some of these guys, but the theme for mine is this player the college that this guy played for got a win this weekend. Davis: Okay. Jackson: All right. My most productive college season came during my sophomore year where I rushed for ele one thousand one hundred and ninety three yards during that season. Davis: Sophomore Thank big day. Jackson: Finished my college career with over three thousand rushing yards and I played in the SEC but I never won a conference championship. Davis: Three thousand Russian yards. Never won a conference championship. Jackson: You're really thinking about this. Davis: I I am really thinking about it 'cause no no one's coming to my mind. I like keep thinking about somebody and then I'm like, they didn't win this weekend and I'll have to go to the next team. Jeff Dempse from Florida. Jackson: all right, I went undrafted despite being a productive running back in the SEC. However, I did have a successful NFL career and made four Pro Bowls. Davis: four for a long time. Jackson: Okay, let me add to that. I also led the NFL in rushing yards for one of my seasons. Davis: Aaron Foster. Jackson: Yes, wow. Good job. Davis: Yeah. I Curious if I would have if would have came to that if you didn't say led the league in in Russian. But yeah. Yeah. What wanna be Jackson: Yeah. I didn't know you would get it just from that. I was trying to make it easy 'cause it's kinda harder hand, it's kind of a harder player. I mean, that was going back a decent ways, so Davis: Yeah. All right. I've got my player. So I have a theme and Yeah, I'll just I'll I'll make the theme a hint. Jackson: Okay. Davis: Auburn beating Georgia was the first time that an unranked team has beat a number one team on the road Since this player on this team. Jackson: So this player beat a number one team on the road. Let me just Davis: Yeah, I I worded that pretty pretty poorly. Yeah. Jackson: let me just make it clear. The player went on the road and beat a number one team. Davis: as an unranked team. And they were the last Jackson: As an unranked team. Okay. Davis: team to do it until Auburn just did it. Jackson: not no I don't think I think they were Bo Wallace. Davis: I was selected in the seventh round of the NFL draft and finished my career with over three thousand Russian yards. Jackson: Someone on the team. Three thousand. Finish a college career where there were three thousand rushing three thousand rushing yards? Davis: NFL career. Jackson: Wait, was okay, so when the team beat the number one t they were on the road, right, when they beat the number one team? Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Unranked on the road beat a number one team. Devon A Chan? Davis: I primarily played fullback in college, but played running back in the NFL. Jackson: What? What? You got me trying to guess a fullback? Davis: Okay, I'll I'll I'll I'll make it a little I'll add Jackson: The Davis: a hint. W when this player comes to you'll know it. All right. I primarily primarily played fullback in college, but played running back in the NFL. In college, two of the other running backs on my team were drafted in the first round. Jackson: Are you stat checking yourself? Make sure you give me the right hints? I hear you clicking on the computer over there. Davis: Yeah, I made sure that I was right about the first round it was. Jackson: I don't even have a conference, nothing. Davis: the S you see. Jackson: it's SC C? Okay. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: All right. That helps a little bit. Davis: Yeah, I thought I gave you that, my bad. Jackson: that's fine. Rondon the list. LSU hasn't done it's not A and It's not Florida. It's not Georgia. It's not South Carolina, I don't think. Tank Bigsby, give me another hint. Davis: Alright, I appeared on the cover of Madden Twelve wearing a Cleveland Browns uniform. Jackson: How we What's that guy's name? I don't know his name. Peyton, right? Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Peyton, what's his last name? Davis: You got it? Jackson: Peyton Willis? Davis: it rhymes with Willis? Yeah, Jackson: Hillis? Davis: there you go. Jackson: Yeah, Peyton Hillis, that's right. Who'd he play for? Davis: Yeah. Arkansas. he was in a backfield with Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. Jackson: Okay, so I thought about when you said the first round thing, I was like, McFadden and Felix Jones, who's the other guy? I didn't realize he played for Arkansas. I think I get him and Toby Gerhart mixed up. I mean I know Toby Gerhart was at Stanford, but Davis: Yeah. Jackson: I for I forget about 'cause like he wasn't really a thing in college, was he? Davis: no. I know, he played fullback. He was a I mean, he would they Jackson: Yeah. Davis: like never ran him the ball because they had two first round running backs. Jackson: Yeah, so when you first said that I was thinking Toby Gerhardt 'cause I like, all right, he may have played fullback and he didn't have a great NFL career, so but then you gave me the SEC thing and I like, gosh, I don't know who it is. Davis: Yeah, so in that game, two thousand and seven, Arkansas won fifty to forty eight. Jackson: LSU, Davis: L S U Arkansas. And it went into over it Jackson: Yeah. Davis: went into triple overtime, it appears, or maybe quadruple. but Darren McFadden had two hundred and six and three. And Peyton Hillis, surprisingly, eleven carries, eighty nine yards, two touchdowns, five catches, sixty two yards, two touchdowns. So we had four touchdowns in that game. Jackson: That's wild. That was that was one of the ones that you really got me on. I didn't I forgot that guy's name. Forgot about him, but anyways. All right. Davis: Yeah. Jackson: Anything else? Davis: Nope. We covered a lot of games these this last two weeks. Jackson: Yeah. Yeah, we we have not I mean we get a break. Yes, yes, six. Davis: We're going back to the pick six and we're we're staying at six. Jackson: Yeah, yeah. We are staying at six. That was that was a lengthy one last time, but we got through it. yeah, like it subscribe. The comment section pick six thing will be back for the next preview show, so keeping an eye on that. But until then, thank you, Davis. See you guys Davis: Yeah, Jackson: next time.
