- 0:18Speaker 1: Turn a glory podcast once again.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It's raining. I'm not outside this time following the Huskers loss.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Just not many words.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Again, I will.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Say I texted you guys yesterday halfway through the third quarter,
- 0:39Speaker 3: so I don't want to talk about this team on Sunday. Yeah,
- 0:41Speaker 3: you still send me the text message of hey, what
- 0:43Speaker 3: are we doing the pod? So it was a little
- 0:45Speaker 3: disappointed you didn't take me more seriously.
- 0:47Speaker 4: But he said, yeah, did you say what team or
- 0:50Speaker 4: something like that?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, real quick start. Worse than the Indian analysts
- 1:01Speaker 2: or not?
- 1:02Speaker 3: No, hmmm, no close, but no, we got absolutely punked
- 1:10Speaker 3: in the analysts. We still were in position to win
- 1:12Speaker 3: this or at least make it a tie game.
- 1:16Speaker 5: At the end of the game, you're on the track
- 1:18Speaker 5: to getting punked, but turned it around at the end.
- 1:23Speaker 2: There were a few better moments in this game. I
- 1:27Speaker 2: guess it's how I would word it Indiana. There just
- 1:30Speaker 2: really was. But this was also a game that we
- 1:33Speaker 2: were favored to win by a touchdown versus favored to
- 1:36Speaker 2: lose by a touchdown.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I just don't understand. I just don't get it. I
- 1:47Speaker 1: don't I don't know.
- 1:49Speaker 2: You know, you try to rationalize and and and as
- 1:52Speaker 2: a fan reason with what happened and could be this
- 1:57Speaker 2: could be that, it is this, it is that I
- 2:01Speaker 2: just don't even have answers anymore as to what those
- 2:05Speaker 2: are as a program, And this goes back pre rule,
- 2:12Speaker 2: but now on a different level in real second year
- 2:16Speaker 2: you're kind of there too there as well with what
- 2:22Speaker 2: are the answers with this entire program?
- 2:25Speaker 1: And is it ever going to be fixed?
- 2:29Speaker 2: Like can it ever get back to when I say
- 2:33Speaker 2: fixed a championship type level program?
- 2:37Speaker 3: The answer to that is yes, maybe it's yes. If
- 2:43Speaker 3: Indiana can be a top ten team, we can also
- 2:46Speaker 3: at some point become a top ten team. Again, let's
- 2:49Speaker 3: not act like it's nebra like the location.
- 2:53Speaker 2: It can be No, Yah, I agree with you, but
- 2:59Speaker 2: I don't the word can. Yeah, I agree, it's never
- 3:03Speaker 2: zero percent. But as far as what what is the
- 3:06Speaker 2: hope to get there? It just has now seems so
- 3:09Speaker 2: much further away potentially. I know it's just one game,
- 3:14Speaker 2: but it just brings up so many more questions that
- 3:18Speaker 2: I don't I just don't have any explanation or answers
- 3:21Speaker 2: to anymore. As just as as a as a casual
- 3:24Speaker 2: fan watching those games, it just I mean sure or false?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Are we at a better place right now this year
- 3:31Speaker 2: than we were last year at this time.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yes, we have a quarterback that can be here for
- 3:37Speaker 3: four more years that we believe is good.
- 3:39Speaker 1: That can Willie.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I think you will.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Do We want him?
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yes, man, you.
- 3:48Speaker 1: You I'm not.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I'm not siding with any of these I have opinions
- 3:51Speaker 2: and all these questions. I'm just asking because you have
- 3:53Speaker 2: all things that are going through Husker fans comments in mine,
- 3:58Speaker 2: I will say all things that I've heard.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I was very upset, and then I went on Reddit
- 4:03Speaker 3: and read the post game Reddit post, and I feel
- 4:07Speaker 3: so much better about the program. After reading the people's
- 4:10Speaker 3: shitty takes on what to do next.
- 4:12Speaker 6: I was like, oh my god, like okay, mother. Watching
- 4:19Speaker 6: the Viking game, I.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Believe mister field goal the thirty yard off the post,
- 4:28Speaker 5: great dank yep. You know I thought I thought tweet
- 4:37Speaker 5: before I hopped on this, and it said, uh, name
- 4:41Speaker 5: one player that's improved from last year than the Harvard
- 4:44Speaker 5: and I I couldn't think of one.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I think this was the first game that we actually
- 4:55Speaker 3: had something to say about the offensive line. We haven't
- 5:00Speaker 3: about the offensive line all year. Really in this in
- 5:03Speaker 3: a negative way. And this is the first game where
- 5:04Speaker 3: I felt like our offensive line played poorly.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, let's okay, let's try to steer this somewhere because
- 5:13Speaker 2: we are. I My general thought here at the beginning
- 5:17Speaker 2: is just there's a lot I'll say it, people's hope
- 5:22Speaker 2: right now is a little bit getting ripped. I'm not
- 5:25Speaker 2: saying it's gone, but as a fan base right now,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and I'll say it again, I don't think our.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Opinions matter.
- 5:35Speaker 2: At all, Like it does not affect anything besides it's enjoyment,
- 5:46Speaker 2: entertainment for us. Now, I think that has be careful
- 5:51Speaker 2: with how I say this. I think it does as
- 5:55Speaker 2: an entire culture or program have an over marching gloom
- 6:03Speaker 2: and doom that not that we bring upon it, but
- 6:07Speaker 2: that the program has. And the fans are trying to
- 6:10Speaker 2: understand why and why we continue to try to understand why.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I don't know, Like I guess that's the fans do, right,
- 6:16Speaker 2: But it is not something that we can pinpoint an
- 6:22Speaker 2: answer to right now as a fan base. No one
- 6:24Speaker 2: knows like no one everyone And like you said, Austin,
- 6:28Speaker 2: you probably go read it.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Everyone thinks they no.
- 6:30Speaker 2: But this year especially it's so funny the contradicting takes
- 6:36Speaker 2: I have, especially around our offense, but in general about everything.
- 6:42Speaker 2: And this week the new one that came in was
- 6:46Speaker 2: Dylan Royola. Like, as crazy as that sounds, I'm with you.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I'm with you completely. Dylan Royola is still our quarterback
- 6:54Speaker 2: and it should be. But there's people in the game
- 6:58Speaker 2: booing him.
- 7:01Speaker 3: But you can't boo the offense.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So we just we had a ton of booing on
- 7:08Speaker 2: the offense this week in the game and very several
- 7:15Speaker 2: people around me yelling get him out of there.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Dylan's horrible, put in Heinrich, That's just where our fan
- 7:22Speaker 1: base is at.
- 7:23Speaker 2: We are so all over the place again, and that
- 7:26Speaker 2: comes from a lack of hope, a lack of vision
- 7:31Speaker 2: for what this looks like. So while we're on the offense,
- 7:34Speaker 2: I think that's the big talking point. I think we
- 7:36Speaker 2: could talk an hour about it. So the offense struggles again,
- 7:40Speaker 2: and I guess the question is, like, what are general
- 7:44Speaker 2: thoughts Austin like about the offense after this game?
- 7:49Speaker 3: Like I said, this was the first game where I
- 7:50Speaker 3: was like, man, our offensive lines kind of getting pushed around,
- 7:54Speaker 3: Dylan L's pockets collapsing pretty quickly he was. You could
- 7:58Speaker 3: tell you look to run a little bit more this time,
- 8:00Speaker 3: but he still wasn't, like I want to run the ball.
- 8:03Speaker 3: And then he did run and that's when he got hurt.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Ja Cory Barney's really freaking good. I hope he sticks
- 8:10Speaker 3: around as long as Dylan sticks around. There weren't screen
- 8:17Speaker 3: passes up the wazoo, you know. Uh, we moved the
- 8:24Speaker 3: ball like we still almost like we put up twenty
- 8:28Speaker 3: one and we were moving the ball well. On that
- 8:30Speaker 3: last drive, the interception was an unfortunate outside of the
- 8:34Speaker 3: pick six, but the interception on the last drive was
- 8:37Speaker 3: an unfortunate The guy got drilled while catching the ball,
- 8:40Speaker 3: popped up in the air, hit his leg while he
- 8:42Speaker 3: was going down, stayed in the air. Defender dove under
- 8:45Speaker 3: it like that's not that's gonna happen.
- 8:48Speaker 2: So I'll pause you because all those things you just said.
- 8:50Speaker 2: It's it's so funny because a week ago those were
- 8:53Speaker 2: our I mean, I'll say those were kind of our positives.
- 8:56Speaker 1: This week.
- 8:56Speaker 2: A week ago they were our negatives. We didn't run
- 8:58Speaker 2: these screen passes, but our office still wasn't good. It
- 9:00Speaker 2: still was just a blaring what is this you mentioned
- 9:05Speaker 2: Dylan Royola I heard today listen to a couple of
- 9:09Speaker 2: recap pods. We need to stop, you know, putting so
- 9:12Speaker 2: much on him and making the game, you know, him
- 9:14Speaker 2: take us out of the game. He just looks like
- 9:16Speaker 2: he's running around in there, like he doesn't know where
- 9:18Speaker 2: he's going. Oh I thought running him around a little bit,
- 9:23Speaker 2: and now scrambling was what was working against Ohio State,
- 9:25Speaker 2: and now's a little bit different type of running around
- 9:27Speaker 2: because he was getting pressured.
- 9:29Speaker 1: But it's like people don't even know do it? Okay,
- 9:31Speaker 1: do it?
- 9:31Speaker 2: We don't want Dylan loose now, Like again, nobody like
- 9:37Speaker 2: no from a game to game base is what we want.
- 9:40Speaker 2: And you're trying to justify everyone's trying to justify why
- 9:43Speaker 2: the offense didn't work, and big picture why is It's
- 9:47Speaker 2: just it's not good and I don't I don't have
- 9:49Speaker 2: an answer to it.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Ultimately, the reason the offense hasn't worked is we don't
- 9:54Speaker 3: have an identity that we can go back to. Whether
- 9:58Speaker 3: that's passive a well, we're not consist said enough in
- 10:00Speaker 3: either area. Some games of the running games working really well.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Some days the running game's garbage, and just the fact
- 10:06Speaker 3: that we're not consistent in a single area. It leads
- 10:10Speaker 3: fans to be like, man, remember when we were really
- 10:11Speaker 3: good running the ball last week? Well I was like, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 3: but we're not good every week at it. So we're
- 10:17Speaker 3: just not We're not consistent. What we did well last week,
- 10:20Speaker 3: we did poor this week, but we did good last week.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Or what we did poor last week, we did good
- 10:24Speaker 3: this week. And so there's just frustration in that because
- 10:28Speaker 3: what do you do outside of just execute better. Maybe
- 10:32Speaker 3: the play calling is bad, maybe yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Sadderfield go.
- 10:40Speaker 5: I've already said what I need to say it on
- 10:42Speaker 5: the last every podcast since you got already sucks.
- 10:45Speaker 4: He's terrible, but.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Yeah, right, I said the last one in the last
- 10:52Speaker 5: p said it was it live after Indiana, so that
- 10:55Speaker 5: you guys really have a conversation about him. No, not yet,
- 10:58Speaker 5: but I would to be worried about him. He's he's
- 11:02Speaker 5: missing wide upen guys. I mean, I guess he's a freshman.
- 11:06Speaker 1: But okay, I'll pausey on that cause I heard that
- 11:09Speaker 1: a lot too.
- 11:11Speaker 2: He has missed some, but every quarterback at every level
- 11:15Speaker 2: misses wide open guys often. That is one thing that
- 11:18Speaker 2: frustrating about Husker fans especially in the game. They're like,
- 11:21Speaker 2: he's so wide open. I'm like, you, guys, do not
- 11:24Speaker 2: understand one when there's pressure and real set a little bit.
- 11:29Speaker 2: It's not an excuse when you're you're seeing pressure. He's
- 11:31Speaker 2: a freshman. When you're seeing that much pressure constantly, you're
- 11:36Speaker 2: not you don't have clear vision. And second of all,
- 11:39Speaker 2: everyone misses wide open guys. Has it been a little
- 11:43Speaker 2: bit worse maybe than he was the start of the year.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Yes, it also feels worse because we've lost games close
- 11:50Speaker 3: and you can be like, if had we hit that
- 11:51Speaker 3: open guy. That's I'm not saying that that's why, but
- 11:54Speaker 3: that's why. There are people in the stands that are like,
- 11:56Speaker 3: he's missing the open guy because you go back and
- 11:58Speaker 3: you look like, oh man to want it.
- 12:00Speaker 4: There are these are these fans. They are saying that
- 12:02Speaker 4: they look like they could go out there and play quarterback.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Like you.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 3: It.
- 12:10Speaker 2: It's it's one of those things that what's the solution
- 12:16Speaker 2: about quarterback? If you think that if you think Ryola
- 12:18Speaker 2: is missing throws, okay, so you're just you're saying, just
- 12:22Speaker 2: let's just go with Heinrich like you you really think
- 12:26Speaker 2: for the last three games of the year. The Heinrich
- 12:28Speaker 2: Harberg is the better option at quarterback for three games
- 12:31Speaker 2: than Dylan Rayola. Now, bouncing back and forth between the two,
- 12:34Speaker 2: you had to pick one. That's who you're picking. That's
- 12:36Speaker 2: who you're going with. Okay, like that, that to me
- 12:40Speaker 2: is what and and and you have to keep in
- 12:43Speaker 2: mind the future. To right, You're you're you do that,
- 12:46Speaker 2: You're you're basically saying, Okay, Dylan, we don't want you anymore.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I think you're making I mean, I think that it's
- 12:51Speaker 2: opened up a big can of worms if you decide
- 12:55Speaker 2: to do that.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Maybe they're right.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I don't know, because again I don't have the answers.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 13:00Speaker 5: You might you might be forced into that though him
- 13:03Speaker 5: limping off the field after the game didn't look great.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Well, if that's totally different.
- 13:06Speaker 5: If he's hurt, yeah, yea. And you can't you can't
- 13:10Speaker 5: bench Ryle. If you do, he's gone, like, he's not
- 13:15Speaker 5: coming back next year if you bench him now.
- 13:16Speaker 2: So that's what I'm saying, do you again the same
- 13:19Speaker 2: people want to try something different? Whatever, because not we're
- 13:22Speaker 2: going I get it, like anything right now is not
- 13:27Speaker 2: really gonna be worse because it really isn't still that
- 13:29Speaker 2: identity or momentum.
- 13:31Speaker 1: For an offense.
- 13:32Speaker 2: It So here's what the question that I keep going
- 13:36Speaker 2: back to big picture wise with our offense, and it
- 13:40Speaker 2: doesn't really have anything to do with specific players, but
- 13:46Speaker 2: does the coaching staff that gets paid all this money?
- 13:49Speaker 2: And I'm gonna say this is an opinion, I don't
- 13:52Speaker 2: know this. I think rule has way more say over
- 13:57Speaker 2: the offense than we think, and I think Saturday Fields
- 14:00Speaker 2: more of a yes man puppet guy.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Than an actual creator schemer himself.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I don't think it's all him, and I don't know
- 14:11Speaker 2: we're ever going to know that. I think there's a
- 14:12Speaker 2: lot more rule in saying this is what we should
- 14:14Speaker 2: be doing now. I think Saderfield probably is still maybe
- 14:17Speaker 2: calling the place, but from an identity standpoint, I think
- 14:21Speaker 2: this is still rules vision.
- 14:25Speaker 1: From that big picture standpoint.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I wonder does this coaching staff actually know what they want?
- 14:37Speaker 2: And then the second part of that question, do they
- 14:39Speaker 2: think they have the players. I'm not saying to have
- 14:42Speaker 2: five four or five stars at every position, because obviously
- 14:46Speaker 2: no matter what you run, it's probably gonna work pretty well.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But do they have adequate enough guys that they think
- 14:51Speaker 2: this offense should be working or do they know that, Okay,
- 14:56Speaker 2: we're just we're missing a couple offensive line guys, we're
- 14:59Speaker 2: a little bit banged up.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Are running back just aren't there yet? Or that?
- 15:03Speaker 2: I mean, I hope they're not saying all that. We
- 15:04Speaker 2: don't have, you know, our quarterbacks too young still maybe
- 15:07Speaker 2: in a couple of years. I don't know, but that's
- 15:10Speaker 2: my that's I guess first question to ask, what do
- 15:12Speaker 2: you think about that?
- 15:13Speaker 1: Do you think they know the coaching staff?
- 15:15Speaker 2: Because we're going to get into the whole sadder field,
- 15:18Speaker 2: new offensive coordinator and eventually I'm gonna do it. We're
- 15:21Speaker 2: gonna get into the rule conversation. What does what does
- 15:26Speaker 2: the offensive picture look like? What do you think they
- 15:29Speaker 2: think it looks like? That's my question.
- 15:32Speaker 3: What do they think it currently looks like? Or what
- 15:33Speaker 3: do they think they is?
- 15:34Speaker 1: Offensive? Everything?
- 15:36Speaker 2: Like?
- 15:37Speaker 1: You think they know? You think they're one.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I think they know what they want. I think they
- 15:46Speaker 3: want an offense that is flexible to go against the
- 15:52Speaker 3: team that they're playing, that is loaded with just athletes.
- 15:56Speaker 3: They're all big, fast people. I think that's what they want.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Do you think they think we have the players should
- 16:08Speaker 1: do it?
- 16:09Speaker 2: Do you think if you asked them with a light
- 16:11Speaker 2: attempt and said, hey, coach rule, do we have the
- 16:15Speaker 2: players that we need to execute this offense effectively? Would
- 16:19Speaker 2: he say yes or no?
- 16:19Speaker 4: To that?
- 16:20Speaker 3: I would say you'd say yes, yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 4: I think well without.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Anybody, no, not publicly like one on one, never getting
- 16:28Speaker 2: out private.
- 16:29Speaker 3: I think he's yes.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Your wide receiver corps lacking a little bit. But other
- 16:36Speaker 5: than that, I still.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Think it's a pretty good wire receiver corps group.
- 16:40Speaker 3: It's they're pretty good.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Your running backs are just so average.
- 16:44Speaker 1: So I like this.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So that's the first part. Again, I don't not saying
- 16:49Speaker 2: I agree or disagree. I would probably lean where he
- 16:52Speaker 2: might say no with a caveat, but if it was
- 16:55Speaker 2: a yes or no question, probably no. So second part
- 16:59Speaker 2: to that, if he thinks we have the guys, then
- 17:01Speaker 2: what that tells me or tells us, is that that
- 17:05Speaker 2: that means that this entire picture vision that we have
- 17:09Speaker 2: for our offense is.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Just wrong.
- 17:12Speaker 2: It's not it's not good. If they think this is
- 17:15Speaker 2: what should be working and it's not, so, then it's
- 17:17Speaker 2: just it's where our our coaching staff is. I'm gonna
- 17:22Speaker 2: call it incompetent or not smart. They're not good coaches
- 17:25Speaker 2: to figure out that this isn't working, because I'll say it,
- 17:28Speaker 2: We've continued to pretty much do the same thing, and
- 17:31Speaker 2: I don't know what the next thing is you try,
- 17:33Speaker 2: but this whole picture of what we're trying to do offensively,
- 17:36Speaker 2: whatever that is, it's not working. And while it shows flashes, right,
- 17:40Speaker 2: it's okay at times you allow a first year head
- 17:43Speaker 2: coach that's never been a head coach anywhere come to
- 17:48Speaker 2: your house and beat you and really shut you down
- 17:50Speaker 2: for the first half. The second half thing has got
- 17:53Speaker 2: to working better.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Great. They are also up three touchdowns, so you can
- 17:56Speaker 1: play it if.
- 17:58Speaker 3: You have some thing, have a went. The defense did
- 18:02Speaker 3: not get off the field versus like eight minutes, yep,
- 18:05Speaker 3: and I agree. But the offense right now, the first
- 18:08Speaker 3: same thing we've seen all year. The offense in itself
- 18:11Speaker 3: does not produce what it didn't produce at all.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It did when we got down three touchdowns because they
- 18:19Speaker 2: got conservative UCLA did, but our offense did not produce.
- 18:24Speaker 1: And I get it.
- 18:24Speaker 2: You can say anything we want about the defense, but
- 18:26Speaker 2: our offense when they were out there, they went three
- 18:28Speaker 2: and out and UCLA did a good job of holding
- 18:31Speaker 2: the clock. But when you have the ball, then that
- 18:33Speaker 2: means you have to take advantage and rule new That's
- 18:35Speaker 2: what they do in the first half. You have to
- 18:36Speaker 2: take advantage of the times you have the ball.
- 18:38Speaker 1: We didn't do it.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Now every time since you brought it up about Saturfield,
- 18:45Speaker 5: I laugh at that. That big playbook he has. What
- 18:47Speaker 5: is he what is he looking at there? That has
- 18:51Speaker 5: to be for show? Like, he's not He's not that creative.
- 18:55Speaker 5: He could he can have his plays on what posted note,
- 18:58Speaker 5: that's that creative he is, But I don't. I think
- 19:03Speaker 5: your main problem with Dophins is you don't know. You
- 19:06Speaker 5: have no idea what you want your identity to be.
- 19:09Speaker 5: And that's that's the main thing. Every other game you're
- 19:12Speaker 5: trying to either be a run game or a running team,
- 19:16Speaker 5: and then some games you're trying to be a passing game.
- 19:18Speaker 5: It's like totally different every game. You just need to
- 19:20Speaker 5: stick to one thing and and do that, I guess
- 19:24Speaker 5: the most, figure out figure out what you want to
- 19:26Speaker 5: be first, a running team.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Pass The rules said when he came here he wanted
- 19:30Speaker 3: to be what they had. He wanted an a system
- 19:32Speaker 3: to match the talent that they had.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Which then that's a fun conversation too, because everyone has
- 19:42Speaker 2: an idea of what you want to do, and you
- 19:43Speaker 2: recruit the players to that, or you take the players
- 19:46Speaker 2: that you currently have and fit it into a system
- 19:48Speaker 2: that you want to run.
- 19:52Speaker 4: So what does he want to be?
- 19:53Speaker 5: Does he want to be a running team or passing team?
- 19:57Speaker 3: I think he wants to be a big, physical team.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Whether that's running, I think, I don't.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I don't know what the identity is.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I don't think that Rule and staff would have a
- 20:08Speaker 2: problem answering that question of what they want to do.
- 20:12Speaker 2: My problem, I think with the offense that I have,
- 20:15Speaker 2: this is my this is my opinion now that I've
- 20:18Speaker 2: thrown out every option out there, I don't think they
- 20:21Speaker 2: know how. I honestly don't think that they are smart
- 20:27Speaker 2: offensive football coaches. I don't think Rule is for whatever
- 20:31Speaker 2: hand he has in it as the head coach. I
- 20:33Speaker 2: would say I would give him a lean towards his
- 20:35Speaker 2: defenses as the head coach his specialty, but I don't
- 20:39Speaker 2: know that for sure. I don't think Sadderfield is smart
- 20:45Speaker 2: and creative now when it goes to play calling, When
- 20:48Speaker 2: we go to play calling, I don't know what's all
- 20:51Speaker 2: good behind that.
- 20:52Speaker 1: But what I don't see.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I don't think we know how to develop counters to
- 20:56Speaker 2: what the other team's doing.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I don't think we have a clue.
- 20:59Speaker 2: I don't think we know how to when you say, hey,
- 21:01Speaker 2: we can't be predictable this week, I don't think they
- 21:03Speaker 2: know how to scheme something up to not be predictable.
- 21:06Speaker 2: When we say, hey, we need to be creative, we
- 21:09Speaker 2: need to put in like five creative plays. What was
- 21:11Speaker 2: our creative plays that we put in this week? I'll
- 21:14Speaker 2: give you a couple that I thought.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Were new creative.
- 21:17Speaker 2: One that weird double reverse past thing whatever that was,
- 21:24Speaker 2: got ten yards off it great. Two full that trap,
- 21:30Speaker 2: great job. I'll give you a star for that one.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Three we had the little like first and goal from
- 21:37Speaker 2: the four, the the like reverse hand up that last
- 21:42Speaker 2: four yards like that was another play like that was
- 21:45Speaker 2: new that failed.
- 21:47Speaker 1: There's one other one.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I was thinking, oh, there's a bootleg pass it, we'll help.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Let's even go with the first play of the second half.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Obviously we know what happened there. So I just I
- 21:58Speaker 2: just don't think that our coaching staff knows how to
- 22:02Speaker 2: be creative, because then I go and watch a game
- 22:04Speaker 2: last night.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Remember who I was watching.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Someone just ran a simple bootleg and leaked the tight
- 22:10Speaker 2: end out of the backfield and hit him for twenty
- 22:12Speaker 2: five yards. And I'm like, okay, I don't know why
- 22:14Speaker 2: they ran that play, but we never see anything like that.
- 22:17Speaker 1: It wasn't super complex.
- 22:18Speaker 2: It was just something that the coaches saw, schemed and
- 22:22Speaker 2: executed and got thirty yards on a play in the
- 22:25Speaker 2: middle of the third quarter. I'm like, we don't do
- 22:27Speaker 2: any of it. We don't have that option to do. It's
- 22:30Speaker 2: not a trick play. It's not a fleet flicker dack,
- 22:33Speaker 2: it's a it's a it's being creative and encountering what
- 22:38Speaker 2: the other team did.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Oh, I know, I'm rambling UCLA. Second half. What'd they do?
- 22:42Speaker 2: They had a great creative play action where they leaked
- 22:45Speaker 2: the fullback out and we had nobody left, dumped down
- 22:47Speaker 2: ran for forty yards.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I was like, oh my gosh, they out schemed this there.
- 22:52Speaker 1: That was creative.
- 22:52Speaker 2: They must have saw something that we blew. An assignment
- 22:55Speaker 2: on it and stuff like that. You never see that
- 22:58Speaker 2: ever out of our offense. So that's what needs me
- 23:00Speaker 2: to believe like we just aren't smart.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I don't now like in game play calling. I totally agree.
- 23:08Speaker 3: There aren't when you're watching it on TV. Haven't been
- 23:11Speaker 3: any games, well I went to the Illinois game. Whatever.
- 23:14Speaker 3: But when you're watching on TV, there's another moment like a, oh, man,
- 23:17Speaker 3: did you see that they caught them in this scheme?
- 23:20Speaker 3: And perfectly you're like, oh, they were in a man
- 23:22Speaker 3: coverage and they were able to draw their guy with
- 23:25Speaker 3: a pick play and cut. There's none of that. There's
- 23:28Speaker 3: no conversation of like, oh man, you see him catch that.
- 23:30Speaker 3: It's always like, man, what an incredible throw by Rayola.
- 23:33Speaker 2: The only time was slipped that track this week, that
- 23:37Speaker 2: was the only time that I have that feeling. I
- 23:39Speaker 2: was like, huh, well that was neat, that was smart.
- 23:42Speaker 2: That's the only time I said that the whole game.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:46Speaker 5: No, now, yeah, the main the main thing with the
- 23:53Speaker 5: rule is, and it keeps happening, is these first year
- 23:57Speaker 5: coaches come in and beat you thing, and then I
- 24:00Speaker 5: can't I have no clue what the UCLA coach's name,
- 24:03Speaker 5: couldn't tell you, but another first year coach comes in
- 24:07Speaker 5: beats you, and then and I was looking at Minnesota
- 24:09Speaker 5: before the Gophers before you come in here, PJ.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Fleck.
- 24:13Speaker 5: Every year has he has no quarterback and they get
- 24:17Speaker 5: better as the year goes on. What when's the last
- 24:19Speaker 5: time Nebraska has gotten better as the year has gone on?
- 24:24Speaker 5: Like that, they have improved at all as the year's
- 24:25Speaker 5: gone on. This year they've gotten worse.
- 24:27Speaker 1: That's a picture question, Like, when's the.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Last time that you've said, from the beginning of the
- 24:32Speaker 5: year we got well.
- 24:33Speaker 4: I guess maybe last year.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I think West.
- 24:39Speaker 5: Yeah, and and and the only reason why he got
- 24:41Speaker 5: better is because you've been somebody that we don't even
- 24:43Speaker 5: bring up.
- 24:43Speaker 1: We lost our last five games that I don't Yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 1: we didn't get better.
- 24:49Speaker 5: No, I can't tell you last time that from beginning
- 24:51Speaker 5: of the year that you've gotten better. And I I
- 24:57Speaker 5: don't know any game this year that Nebraska, for the
- 24:59Speaker 5: full game has a it's good. Yeah, Colorado, the second
- 25:03Speaker 5: half you didn't look good, and you didn't look good.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I get that.
- 25:09Speaker 2: There's gonna be moments you're not gonna look good in games.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Very few times are you gonna go out and do it.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Indiana did do us a few weeks ago. That's very
- 25:16Speaker 2: rarely gonna happen.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I get that.
- 25:18Speaker 4: And maybe they're that good.
- 25:21Speaker 3: No, I will say again not happy with the team,
- 25:26Speaker 3: not making excuses for the team, but things to think about. One,
- 25:32Speaker 3: we all thought that UCLA might be better than what the
- 25:36Speaker 3: record showed, yep. And they were coming off of bye week,
- 25:41Speaker 3: so they did have an extra week to repair. Not
- 25:43Speaker 3: that that should do anything, but all things to consider.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Yes, maybe on a week to week basis, which I
- 25:53Speaker 2: guess I've been trying to say.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I mean, this is the third team you played off
- 25:57Speaker 3: of bye week.
- 25:58Speaker 1: And we're gonna face another one.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Yep.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I yeah, I just it's just hard to swallow these
- 26:07Speaker 2: new coaches that, and not only that at programs that
- 26:13Speaker 2: don't have the resources and fan base and expectations that
- 26:17Speaker 2: Nebraska has. That that's the hard part to swallow, regardless
- 26:22Speaker 2: of that week to week situation that they're in or
- 26:26Speaker 2: what's happening. We just we've just never seemed to be
- 26:28Speaker 2: able to improve. And if we do, I think it's
- 26:33Speaker 2: a little bit of a false sense of thinking we
- 26:37Speaker 2: were improving from a fan base perspective, I don't. At
- 26:41Speaker 2: bottom line, we don't. We don't win, and schedule, schedule
- 26:44Speaker 2: is sched whatever the schedule is. It's it's hard, that's
- 26:49Speaker 2: what's hard. To swallow and obviously Lincoln Riley, now you'd
- 26:53Speaker 2: say he's probably one of the I mean, he's been
- 26:56Speaker 2: a few more places than these other coaches, not to
- 27:01Speaker 2: name many other schools. I know Dak has his opinions,
- 27:04Speaker 2: but some would say, you know he's going to he's
- 27:06Speaker 2: going to be one of the better coaches real quick?
- 27:09Speaker 4: Can I can I do? Can I do my little
- 27:12Speaker 4: parade here.
- 27:14Speaker 5: About what I said earlier about Lincoln Rolly getting fired
- 27:16Speaker 5: at the end of the year. Go ahead, gosh, I
- 27:19Speaker 5: hope he inspired every everybody said beginning, you're crazy.
- 27:25Speaker 4: There we go. That's that. That's just my parade right now,
- 27:27Speaker 4: and keep going.
- 27:29Speaker 1: What what.
- 27:32Speaker 5: He's gonna get fired? I think he's getting fired in
- 27:34Speaker 5: the end the year. But but all right, that that's
- 27:37Speaker 5: my parade.
- 27:38Speaker 4: You can keep going.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Inspired me to bring him in as OC that'd be incredible.
- 27:44Speaker 5: You'd want him, Yeah, that'd be perfect with Roola, that
- 27:47Speaker 5: would be that would be who you want. But I you,
- 27:50Speaker 5: you better throw the money out there, because I hope
- 27:54Speaker 5: it goes back to Oklahoma. But I didn't say that.
- 27:57Speaker 2: The The other last thing that I guess to have
- 28:01Speaker 2: to say about the offense and just the game. In general,
- 28:06Speaker 2: our offense looked better, I say better from a getting
- 28:08Speaker 2: first down standpoint because of the three stupid penalties that
- 28:11Speaker 2: UCLA committed on one sportsman likes and I don't. I
- 28:14Speaker 2: don't have no idea what they did. Like, I never
- 28:17Speaker 2: didn't go back like maybe they were.
- 28:21Speaker 3: One of them was pulling a guy off a pile.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Another one was you shoved the guy in the back.
- 28:25Speaker 3: And then one of them they were taunting the sideline.
- 28:28Speaker 2: So great, like, thank you refs. I guess, like, no
- 28:32Speaker 2: talk about the refs this week, right, we lost? No
- 28:34Speaker 2: talk about the refs.
- 28:37Speaker 3: There really weren't any controversial calls this week.
- 28:40Speaker 2: To be honest, I bet you UCLA is not happy
- 28:42Speaker 2: about those three.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Uh they were. I would say the pile one was
- 28:45Speaker 3: definitely it was a buy the book call. Probably didn't
- 28:49Speaker 3: deserve it. The other two the guy walked towards our
- 28:52Speaker 3: sideline and was chirping at him and like giving hand gestures.
- 28:55Speaker 3: The other one, the other dude definitely shoved the guy
- 28:57Speaker 3: one of our offensive linement in the back in front
- 28:59Speaker 3: of the ref and.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Two of them were on fourth down.
- 29:02Speaker 2: So gifts like pure gifts that made that made this
- 29:07Speaker 2: loss or was us coming back. I'm like, we don't
- 29:10Speaker 2: deserve to win this game, Like we were given so
- 29:13Speaker 2: many stupid things that game that we were we were
- 29:16Speaker 2: so bad and the majority of the games. I mean,
- 29:20Speaker 2: I obviously wanted to win, but at the same time,
- 29:22Speaker 2: I was like, this is stupid, this is like, this
- 29:24Speaker 2: is dumb we played. We have played so bad and
- 29:27Speaker 2: just looked horrible this whole game and we still have
- 29:30Speaker 2: a chance to win. Hell, we were down thirteen to
- 29:33Speaker 2: seven a half time and everybody was like, oh my god,
- 29:36Speaker 2: we feel like we're down thirty five to seven right now.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Just the way the game was going, it just felt
- 29:42Speaker 2: horrible because of the way everything went. Bill Oh, not
- 29:45Speaker 2: to mention the offense that we had in the first half,
- 29:47Speaker 2: the seventy two yards offense with forty of them being
- 29:50Speaker 2: on I'm not gonna say it.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Was not a good thrown ball by Dylan.
- 29:55Speaker 2: It came out wobbly, it was almost adduct and it
- 29:58Speaker 2: just happened that Barney ran underneath it, and the U. C.
- 30:01Speaker 3: L A. D.
- 30:02Speaker 2: D Backs were not anywhere near Like that was forty
- 30:05Speaker 2: yards of our seventy two yards offense in the first half.
- 30:08Speaker 2: It just was It was so bad.
- 30:11Speaker 1: So I just didn't.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I didn't think that our offense did anything. Again late
- 30:16Speaker 2: in the game. I hate to say it, but it's
- 30:18Speaker 2: that that's all in game UCLA saying Okay, we're up
- 30:22Speaker 2: twenty seven to seven. We can afford to play off
- 30:25Speaker 2: and not be as aggressive, and we took advantage of it.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Props to us, I guess, but the game was in
- 30:31Speaker 2: control at that point for the most part. We almost
- 30:34Speaker 2: had made a miraculous comeback.
- 30:36Speaker 1: But you didn't.
- 30:37Speaker 2: No one thought we were scoring on that drive, did you.
- 30:39Speaker 3: I mean, uh, honestly, and that we were. We were
- 30:44Speaker 3: moving the ball pretty well in the second half. Once
- 30:46Speaker 3: we missed the extra point, though, I was like, oh no,
- 30:49Speaker 3: it's not half ed.
- 30:50Speaker 4: Yeah I missed that. I was at a wedding. What
- 30:53Speaker 4: how did he just shank the kick or what?
- 30:56Speaker 3: He shanked the kick? Yeah?
- 30:59Speaker 4: I went I went took a p after that touchdowns
- 31:01Speaker 4: like I came back. I was like, they go for two?
- 31:03Speaker 4: What happened? I missed the Pah? Wow?
- 31:07Speaker 3: Is honestly moving the ball all right? I really?
- 31:11Speaker 2: I honestly, it's that's that's U c l A being conservative.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say it. That's my opinion. I just
- 31:19Speaker 2: I don't think that as much to do with anything
- 31:21Speaker 2: of how we played offense. Second, it's gonna count towards
- 31:24Speaker 2: the stats.
- 31:25Speaker 5: But that that pick wasn't on him either. That's just
- 31:29Speaker 5: the Fluke play. And I did ask earlier and rides
- 31:34Speaker 5: the play happened, I was like, man, they might throw
- 31:35Speaker 5: that from unncessary roughing this.
- 31:37Speaker 4: What did you think that? That was a hit? Uh?
- 31:40Speaker 4: Kind of targeting hit to the head, Austin.
- 31:43Speaker 3: It was definitely a hard hit. I'm fine with them
- 31:46Speaker 3: there no.
- 31:46Speaker 5: Call, Yeah, rewatching it again. It was kind of they
- 31:50Speaker 5: didn't leave with the helm or anything.
- 31:51Speaker 4: I think. I think it was a good no call.
- 31:53Speaker 5: But but in real time, I was like, holy crap,
- 31:55Speaker 5: it was just a good, hard hit.
- 31:56Speaker 4: And usually nowadays lls get flagged.
- 31:58Speaker 1: But okay, flip side defense. I don't know. I don't know.
- 32:08Speaker 2: I good, there's good and bad. It wasn't our defense's
- 32:12Speaker 2: best game, but they did come through a couple of times.
- 32:15Speaker 2: First half was horrendous from about all levels. I guess
- 32:20Speaker 2: we came through and.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Held them to two field goals.
- 32:24Speaker 1: But U c.
- 32:25Speaker 2: L A milked that clock and converted every third down
- 32:29Speaker 2: they needed to and rule said it. That's what they've
- 32:32Speaker 2: done another game, so we shouldn't be surprised by it.
- 32:35Speaker 2: But they did it to us. First two drives in
- 32:39Speaker 2: a row. We never had the ball. It felt like
- 32:42Speaker 2: in the first half their quarterback was running, which apparently
- 32:46Speaker 2: we knew he could run a little bit. But this,
- 32:49Speaker 2: this Garberge, who supposedly was horrible, we made him look
- 32:51Speaker 2: a lot better. Again, it's like we've done to every
- 32:53Speaker 2: other opposing teams quarterback. The second half, I thought we
- 32:57Speaker 2: played better for the most part, but the.
- 33:02Speaker 3: One only gave it defensively, gave seven points in the second.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Half, but once again, the one drive that we needed
- 33:10Speaker 2: to get a stop and get off the field, we
- 33:13Speaker 2: got a penalty. It was second and eighteen and we
- 33:16Speaker 2: had a guy tackled for a five yard game by
- 33:18Speaker 2: four guys. Bounces off, gets the first down. Next play,
- 33:22Speaker 2: corner route, blown coverage, touchdown.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Okay, I get it.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Defense played well, but you that one lapse one possession
- 33:32Speaker 2: when we need to stop it doesn't happen. And after
- 33:37Speaker 2: that touchdown twenty seven to seven, you go whoo.
- 33:41Speaker 4: So I get it.
- 33:43Speaker 2: There's some good there, it's fine, but that does that's
- 33:46Speaker 2: not gonna win your football games.
- 33:48Speaker 1: And if you are going to take the attitude.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Of blaming someone the defense, you can't say, well, our
- 33:53Speaker 2: offense put us in a bad situation.
- 33:55Speaker 3: The defense gave up twenty points.
- 33:59Speaker 2: And we've said it, you got to really hold them
- 34:01Speaker 2: under twenty to win games.
- 34:03Speaker 3: And then the offense gave up seven.
- 34:05Speaker 4: So it was okay performance.
- 34:12Speaker 3: It was an okay performance. It wasn't winning Tony White
- 34:16Speaker 3: any jobs. They they just had to get them off
- 34:21Speaker 3: the field and they couldn't. I don't know why, but
- 34:25Speaker 3: it was just it was painful.
- 34:27Speaker 4: That's kind of been the story of your season though.
- 34:29Speaker 5: You've had a lot of drive and you can to
- 34:31Speaker 5: stop and they just can't do it.
- 34:33Speaker 4: The one stop you need, I can't.
- 34:35Speaker 5: I can't remember what game right now, but the one
- 34:37Speaker 5: stop you need, you need you just don't get. Yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 5: last week, yeah, Rutgers, you did the whole game.
- 34:51Speaker 4: You stopped them. But but yeah, it.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Was an okay performance, Like you held them. You can't
- 34:55Speaker 5: play that game on our defense at all. Like for
- 34:57Speaker 5: as crappy as or offense was, that first half, being
- 35:00Speaker 5: able to just keep.
- 35:01Speaker 4: You in the game is all you really need right there,
- 35:04Speaker 4: and then you.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Can't, but you can't. You can't, but you can. Though, Guys,
- 35:07Speaker 2: Ucla is not a good football team.
- 35:09Speaker 1: They're not. I don't. I don't care what we think
- 35:14Speaker 1: better than we. I don't. I don't care like that.
- 35:16Speaker 1: UCLA's two and five. They're not good.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Yeah there we' I mean Rutgers in Purdue, I guess
- 35:23Speaker 2: must be really freaking bad. Ucla is not a good
- 35:27Speaker 2: football team. And we made them look but we gave
- 35:30Speaker 2: them a win, and they want they beat us.
- 35:32Speaker 1: They came to Lincoln and beat us.
- 35:36Speaker 2: That that that's the part that they're two and five,
- 35:38Speaker 2: Like I get their schedules kind of tough.
- 35:42Speaker 1: They're they're not they're not good.
- 35:44Speaker 2: And I guess, I guess this goes back to the
- 35:47Speaker 2: whole tier question and where we're at, Like we're just
- 35:49Speaker 2: we're one of the twelve Big ten teams that are
- 35:53Speaker 2: sitting from eight six, seven to eighteen. Like we're one
- 35:57Speaker 2: of them, I guess, And everybody's kind of the same
- 36:00Speaker 2: spot a week to week basis. And I think USC
- 36:02Speaker 2: in Wisconsin maybe you're in that tier two. But it's
- 36:06Speaker 2: just frustrating when that when when the situation that U c.
- 36:10Speaker 2: L A is in you take a step back and
- 36:12Speaker 2: try to look at it from not Nebraska standpoint, like
- 36:16Speaker 2: they shouldn't have beat us. Yeah.
- 36:22Speaker 4: And another thing is by U C. L A.
- 36:26Speaker 5: They just moved to the Big Ten, which every commerce
- 36:30Speaker 5: placed DIFFERENTTOPT football, and the first year in the Big Ten,
- 36:33Speaker 5: they come in and beat in Lincoln, like and.
- 36:35Speaker 2: We're supposed to our identity is supposed to be the
- 36:38Speaker 2: being the biggest team.
- 36:40Speaker 5: Yeah, and they I would say, out physical to you
- 36:43Speaker 5: that game like that. They they came in the years
- 36:46Speaker 5: prior to this, and they were always spread kind of
- 36:49Speaker 5: weak teams in this and then one year in the
- 36:52Speaker 5: Big Ten with new coach, they come in and beat you.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Already, it's like just to kick to the balls.
- 37:06Speaker 1: What I'll can continue to say for the rest of
- 37:09Speaker 1: this year.
- 37:10Speaker 2: And now we have a bye week, but still we
- 37:13Speaker 2: have to take it on a week to week the
- 37:15Speaker 2: basis because everything that we've seen has just been just
- 37:19Speaker 2: crazy in college football, Nebraska schedule in general. Like you
- 37:24Speaker 2: just don't know. So while this might hurt and make
- 37:30Speaker 2: you just feel with a bunch of questions that you
- 37:33Speaker 2: don't have answers to, which is exactly how I feel.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Have no words for a lot of it. The season's
- 37:39Speaker 2: not over as a fan, and there still has to
- 37:42Speaker 2: be hoped. The problem is, yes, that hope word that
- 37:47Speaker 2: we talk about that is going to be that's now
- 37:50Speaker 2: getting challenged more for two parties. One the fans, who
- 37:57Speaker 2: could give a shit less about right, like if some
- 37:59Speaker 2: fans give up in the season, which we've done, like
- 38:02Speaker 2: including maybe some myself at times, okay, whatever, but the
- 38:06Speaker 2: players and the team and what they believe in as
- 38:12Speaker 2: far as hope for the rest of the year. And
- 38:17Speaker 2: I'm gonna say it, buy in for what rule of
- 38:20Speaker 2: speaking for.
- 38:21Speaker 3: For the future, I will say, And.
- 38:24Speaker 2: We don't know what that answer to that is.
- 38:26Speaker 3: I will say. Getting a little tired of the world
- 38:28Speaker 3: press conferences this year, I understand. But if I have
- 38:34Speaker 3: to hear him say, give credit to the UCLA man.
- 38:37Speaker 3: They came out here and they executed, I'm gonna. I'm
- 38:39Speaker 3: just gonna. I just don't need to hear it. I
- 38:43Speaker 3: know you lost. You don't know why. You're glad you guys, but.
- 38:50Speaker 2: I mentioned it after Indiana. You're mentioning it now. That
- 38:55Speaker 2: question mark is creeping in. Just you said press conference,
- 39:00Speaker 2: that's not Real's future. But you just start to question
- 39:07Speaker 2: you are to get tired of whatever, whatever it may be.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I guess my question, and this is, can we all
- 39:16Speaker 2: agree that Rule is a very good communicator? Yes, yes, okay,
- 39:24Speaker 2: Like I would say that is one of his best
- 39:27Speaker 2: qualities as a leader, as a coach. This is kind
- 39:33Speaker 2: of a fun question that got posed to me.
- 39:36Speaker 1: How many.
- 39:38Speaker 2: And I'm gonna say great communicator, great to the public
- 39:42Speaker 2: to that to what gets shared, how many great legendary
- 39:48Speaker 2: coaches are phenomenal communicators. Like I'm not gonna say exactly
- 39:54Speaker 2: like Rule is, but just like they word things very
- 39:57Speaker 2: very well.
- 40:02Speaker 1: There's there's exceptions, but.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Has had a thought it was It's curious, it's it
- 40:08Speaker 2: made me go.
- 40:09Speaker 1: That's interesting.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Saban wasn't really he was good.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Saban was good.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Saban is is as he's in a different category. He's
- 40:20Speaker 2: your hard ass like short with the media, like like Greg,
- 40:25Speaker 2: maybe not Greg Popovich level, but like similar to where
- 40:29Speaker 2: it's like nope, like I really don't give a crap
- 40:30Speaker 2: with the media. Is gonna say, like I'm just going
- 40:32Speaker 2: to Rule, We'll say real cares about what questions the
- 40:36Speaker 2: media asked?
- 40:37Speaker 1: How which presented the team?
- 40:38Speaker 4: Real cares?
- 40:38Speaker 1: I'm not saying that's wrong.
- 40:41Speaker 3: As a Nebraska head football coach.
- 40:43Speaker 2: I agree, it probably is a little more important.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Pop save that.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Save that thought. Saban doesn't care.
- 40:51Speaker 3: I mean, going through great football coaches, I don't know.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know.
- 40:56Speaker 3: I don't I don't watch any other press conferences.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Well, I'm just saying, like over over the past, right,
- 41:01Speaker 2: Joe Paterno like just as quiet, like didn't really care.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Mike Leach just a complete weirdo. Right, Uh, I'm gonna
- 41:11Speaker 2: say it. Kurt Signetti just a weirdo, like just like
- 41:14Speaker 2: a weird p J. Fleck a weirdo. You see, Alas
- 41:19Speaker 2: coach is a weirdo. I don't.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I haven't seen him.
- 41:21Speaker 2: I'm talking about like really good, like really really good
- 41:25Speaker 2: successful coaches. Gosh, there's so many more that came to mind.
- 41:29Speaker 4: They're all kind of weird.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Oh Wlayne Kiffin like, and I'm not maybe not weird
- 41:34Speaker 2: is the right word. But they're just they just they
- 41:36Speaker 2: they just say it as it is and there's no
- 41:39Speaker 2: there's no like. They're doing what they want to do
- 41:41Speaker 2: with the program to get the program to have success,
- 41:45Speaker 2: rules doing that to an extent. But to austin your point,
- 41:48Speaker 2: he has he is. He is so cautious and careful
- 41:52Speaker 2: and words thinks, and he does a good job of it.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I think we think.
- 41:59Speaker 2: To me that this is where it ties all the
- 42:01Speaker 2: way back to the fans and the expectations of Nebraska,
- 42:03Speaker 2: and it just sucks. There's nothing you can do about it,
- 42:05Speaker 2: but you He has to do that, and therefore it
- 42:08Speaker 2: takes a little bit away from saying no, like I'm
- 42:10Speaker 2: the blue collar mentality what Nebraska football was about with
- 42:14Speaker 2: Tom Osborn, and we had all these years right in between,
- 42:17Speaker 2: but the blue collar toughness, I'm gonna line up, I'm
- 42:20Speaker 2: gonna kick your ass because that's how Nebraska football does it.
- 42:23Speaker 1: We've gotten away from that.
- 42:25Speaker 2: We are now this like prestige, top of the notch, best,
- 42:32Speaker 2: best facilities, best everything, program and everything has to be
- 42:36Speaker 2: put together in such a particular way to make it
- 42:39Speaker 2: sound good. That's why we didn't like Bow. We fired Boat.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Not saying Pa is a solution, but both and how
- 42:45Speaker 2: he wanted to right And who's been our best coach
- 42:48Speaker 2: since Tom from a win perspective, Solis, Well maybe Bo.
- 42:56Speaker 2: It's who I'm you know, So it's like it's weird
- 43:00Speaker 2: now it opens your eyes and okay, not rule is
- 43:02Speaker 2: a good communicator, and that is a good quality of
- 43:04Speaker 2: a leader. And I think there's a big important piece
- 43:08Speaker 2: of that. But does that take away from all of
- 43:12Speaker 2: the other things that go into coaching where you can
- 43:16Speaker 2: just bring a guy in and say, you know what,
- 43:18Speaker 2: we're gonna let this guy. I'm just gonna use a
- 43:20Speaker 2: random example that the code free tech comes in. He
- 43:26Speaker 2: takes over as a head coach, right, and he can
- 43:28Speaker 2: see whatever he wants to the media. He's not gonna
- 43:30Speaker 2: be judged. We're gonna he's gonna coach a team exactly
- 43:33Speaker 2: how he wants to do it. He's gonna be tough, minded, gritty, tough,
- 43:36Speaker 2: and rule preay does a lot of those things. But
- 43:38Speaker 2: there's no priority, no anything that you have to deal
- 43:41Speaker 2: with anything else besides I'm gonna make this team better.
- 43:44Speaker 1: And you can do whatever you want.
- 43:47Speaker 2: You can be weird, you can be goofy, you can
- 43:49Speaker 2: come into the press conference's dress as a weirdo, whatever
- 43:52Speaker 2: you want to do, but it doesn't affect the level
- 43:57Speaker 2: of I guess, time and comitment and focus that you
- 44:01Speaker 2: have on your team.
- 44:02Speaker 1: And again, I don't think rules not focus on the team.
- 44:05Speaker 2: I just think there's so much going on in Nebraska
- 44:08Speaker 2: that comes with it, that comes with the job. It's
- 44:10Speaker 2: going to for at least the next ten years. Probably
- 44:13Speaker 2: maybe after that, we're going to start seeing some decline
- 44:16Speaker 2: because all the people are going to start dying. That's
- 44:18Speaker 2: a little morbid, but it's true. That's going to come
- 44:22Speaker 2: part with it, so you have to deal with it.
- 44:23Speaker 2: That's part of it. But that's just the reality of
- 44:27Speaker 2: the situation. I think with rule and right now, those
- 44:31Speaker 2: question marks wrapping it all. Back to Austin's point, they're
- 44:34Speaker 2: just starting to creep in with the fans, with the boosters,
- 44:37Speaker 2: with the administration. Everybody is starting to put the question
- 44:42Speaker 2: mark on it right now. And there's still a lot
- 44:45Speaker 2: of you to change that. But that's where we're at
- 44:47Speaker 2: right now, I think.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, it's definitely I can't speak to Booster well,
- 44:55Speaker 3: boosters are fans, but like the actual administration, it's tough because,
- 44:59Speaker 3: I mean, a seven year contract saying hey, this is
- 45:03Speaker 3: a big rebuild, We're not going to turn this around
- 45:04Speaker 3: in two years, and then here we are two years
- 45:06Speaker 3: in being like, hey, why the fuck are we winning?
- 45:09Speaker 3: Mm hmm. I I don't like like I said, reading
- 45:15Speaker 3: the Reddit comments is like, Okay, I'm clearly better headspace
- 45:18Speaker 3: than half of these guys. These guys are fucking insane.
- 45:20Speaker 3: They were like rulings to be fired tomorrow. And I
- 45:22Speaker 3: was like, okay, let's not. Let's not.
- 45:25Speaker 1: There's people there. I mean, the extremists are there.
- 45:28Speaker 2: But I agree, there's there's extremists everywhere.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Like we we knew this wasn't. We had hope. I
- 45:37Speaker 3: think part of it is just where we put our
- 45:38Speaker 3: hope and ruled in help. He said, you thought this
- 45:41Speaker 3: rebuild is going quicker than years past, and how we
- 45:47Speaker 3: are not winning is tough. But it's year two. The
- 45:53Speaker 3: we're three years removed from what three and nine. I
- 46:02Speaker 3: I mean that takes time?
- 46:05Speaker 1: Does it not taking time? In Indiana?
- 46:07Speaker 3: You're right, but there wasn't as much of a negative culture.
- 46:10Speaker 3: There was a.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Lot of games.
- 46:15Speaker 4: There's a lot of coaches that come in and it.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Lost a lot a lot of games.
- 46:20Speaker 3: That's yeah, that's true. And but Signetti came in with
- 46:24Speaker 3: players rules, coming in and having to start from the scratch.
- 46:27Speaker 3: Signetti brought most of his staff and half of the
- 46:30Speaker 3: players from James Madison, where he already had it established.
- 46:37Speaker 4: I feel like you just got to get the just
- 46:41Speaker 4: the stink.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Off of if we get a bowl game win, I
- 46:44Speaker 3: think it helps so much.
- 46:45Speaker 5: Yep, you gotta get the stink and you gotta win
- 46:48Speaker 5: a one score game, which this game at that list again,
- 46:51Speaker 5: of one score games, it's the only one that I
- 46:54Speaker 5: went to. One of the worst games ever watched in
- 46:57Speaker 5: my life. But anyway, you just gotta get the stink
- 47:01Speaker 5: out of which it might be because the older seniors
- 47:04Speaker 5: and stuff are used to it by now. So maybe
- 47:06Speaker 5: once you get through this class you can get guys
- 47:10Speaker 5: that aren't like used to losing. I guess you could say.
- 47:14Speaker 3: So, we just gotta take a breath, just take a moment.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and that is where you can question him.
- 47:21Speaker 1: That is where you're right. I think.
- 47:23Speaker 2: I still think that is. I still think that is
- 47:25Speaker 2: the biggest thing. Is getting to a bowl game, winning
- 47:27Speaker 2: a bowl game, whatever it is, that's the most important thing.
- 47:30Speaker 1: That goal is not escaped.
- 47:32Speaker 2: We still only have to win one game, but we
- 47:34Speaker 2: said it going into the Indiana game. You lose this one,
- 47:37Speaker 2: you don't you probably alread even know how to state,
- 47:39Speaker 2: which we almost did. Then the pressure builds for UCLA.
- 47:43Speaker 2: It feels like I must win because you think the
- 47:45Speaker 2: last three are tougher. Well, now the pressure is built again.
- 47:48Speaker 2: So we're here like we're living it. We said this
- 47:51Speaker 2: could happen. It doesn't mean it's over.
- 47:54Speaker 3: We all, all of us, before the season started, expected
- 47:57Speaker 3: this team to go seven and five. Three of the
- 48:00Speaker 3: last games are winnable. Not that we will win them all,
- 48:03Speaker 3: but they are all within the realm that we could
- 48:05Speaker 3: win them based off what we have seen. So it
- 48:09Speaker 3: could still happen.
- 48:10Speaker 2: But the caveat to that is the mind go back
- 48:14Speaker 2: to the mindset that we've talked about a lot this year.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Getting our mindsets don't matter, players mindsets, the coach's mindsets.
- 48:21Speaker 2: Everybody in that walker room. Can their mindsets get right
- 48:25Speaker 2: to do that? Yeah, from a black and white like
- 48:28Speaker 2: simulation type, take emotion and all that out of it.
- 48:32Speaker 2: You're right like they're winnable games and you click a
- 48:34Speaker 2: button on a computer and you want to simulate the game.
- 48:37Speaker 2: We might we probably could win two of those three,
- 48:39Speaker 2: but that's not how it works. It does come down
- 48:42Speaker 2: to all the stuff that we talked about today with offensively,
- 48:48Speaker 2: what the hell are we going to do these last
- 48:49Speaker 2: three games? Because right now we continue to do the
- 48:51Speaker 2: same thing, which we've done most of the year.
- 48:54Speaker 3: I don't like vill I mean maybe not now, not
- 48:58Speaker 3: having I'm pro Dylan do not cut this and say
- 49:02Speaker 3: I'm anti doing but having Heinrich have to play. I
- 49:07Speaker 3: would prefer Dylan play, but I have to play. It
- 49:10Speaker 3: might force the coaches to actually evaluate what they are
- 49:13Speaker 3: doing the like, Okay, we have to change things to
- 49:16Speaker 3: work around our new I want to say limitations.
- 49:20Speaker 2: But see and maybe like whether they do that or not,
- 49:24Speaker 2: this is where I'm this is where my hope is
- 49:26Speaker 2: like torn right now. I don't think they're smart enough
- 49:29Speaker 2: to do that. I don't think they know. Like I'm
- 49:32Speaker 2: comparing it back to basketball. If the team I'm gonna say,
- 49:35Speaker 2: comes out and really full court, gets up in your
- 49:38Speaker 2: face and and the nisius that you can't make a pass,
- 49:41Speaker 2: Like as a basketball coach, you have a simple counter.
- 49:44Speaker 1: That says, hey, when they do that, next time we
- 49:47Speaker 1: come down.
- 49:47Speaker 2: The court, we're gonna run a back door cut because
- 49:49Speaker 2: they're overplay and we're gonna throw a back door pass
- 49:51Speaker 2: and get a layup and make them pay for it.
- 49:53Speaker 2: When teams and I just got this from the press conference,
- 49:56Speaker 2: like you mentioned Dawson a little bit like Rule talks.
- 49:59Speaker 2: They came out and zero blitzed us and gave deal
- 50:01Speaker 2: on a bunch of different looks, and I'm like, yeah,
- 50:04Speaker 2: they did, So do we not have an answer for that?
- 50:07Speaker 2: Like do we not have a counter to when they
- 50:09Speaker 2: do that? And and then Rule says, and someone might
- 50:12Speaker 2: have followed up our said He's like, yeah, well we
- 50:14Speaker 2: you know, want some screen passes. I'm like, we didn't
- 50:16Speaker 2: run any screens. Oh wait, we did last week and
- 50:18Speaker 2: that was just disaster. Like I'm just like, no, whatever
- 50:22Speaker 2: your counters are aren't work. So again, I don't know
- 50:25Speaker 2: that we're smart enough to figure out what's different. That's
- 50:28Speaker 2: where my hope from an opposive standpoint is torn. And
- 50:31Speaker 2: I don't think there's anything you do about it right now.
- 50:33Speaker 2: That's why it's scary and the answers are not there.
- 50:37Speaker 2: You can't you can't fire Sadurfield, I don't think. But
- 50:40Speaker 2: I think maybe you can put Glenn Thomas in charge.
- 50:43Speaker 2: I don't know, like maybe that's something you can try internally,
- 50:46Speaker 2: you can try to do. You meant you mentioned the
- 50:48Speaker 2: hype behind Erichy thing. We've talked about that, but then
- 50:51Speaker 2: what's hard. You go out against Ohio State and things
- 50:53Speaker 2: look good from a running standpoint, so you're like, Okay,
- 50:56Speaker 2: maybe we're figuring something out.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Nope.
- 50:59Speaker 2: So that's where yes, it's frustrating, but you're right, take
- 51:03Speaker 2: a deep breath.
- 51:04Speaker 1: We have a bye week.
- 51:06Speaker 2: The bye week is going to be a tough bye week,
- 51:08Speaker 2: I think for the players, because you do have two
- 51:10Speaker 2: weeks to just swallow on.
- 51:11Speaker 1: This and gough.
- 51:13Speaker 2: But I think it's enough time to once you swallow
- 51:15Speaker 2: it and get past it, you have the time then
- 51:17Speaker 2: to take a deep breath. And then next thing you know,
- 51:20Speaker 2: you're not playing right away. You actually have time to
- 51:23Speaker 2: take the deep breath and now say, okay, reset three
- 51:26Speaker 2: games left, here's what we got to do. I think
- 51:28Speaker 2: I hope that for the hope that's there, this coaching
- 51:31Speaker 2: step gets to that point with this team to where
- 51:35Speaker 2: we go in and play well against the USC on
- 51:38Speaker 2: the road, we play well against Wisconsin, Iowa looks to
- 51:41Speaker 2: him friking good. Now we play well at Iowa to
- 51:44Speaker 2: end the year, and hopefully one of those results in
- 51:47Speaker 2: a win so we can go bowling and.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Have more practice time.
- 51:52Speaker 2: I think with this, I mean they think that's a
- 51:54Speaker 2: big thing, bigger than we realize. You get that extra
- 51:57Speaker 2: month and a half to practice. When you do that,
- 52:02Speaker 2: you don't do that, And I don't want to go
- 52:05Speaker 2: down this path. Things are going to get pretty ugly,
- 52:10Speaker 2: I think, from a from a question the question marks.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Are going to get more and more and more and
- 52:15Speaker 1: bigger and bigger and bigger.
- 52:16Speaker 2: And it's gonna be interesting what happens in the offseason
- 52:23Speaker 2: this year.
- 52:25Speaker 3: I think we don't make If we don't make the
- 52:27Speaker 3: ball game, if we don't make a bowl game, there
- 52:29Speaker 3: will be changes at the coaching level. Matt wi will
- 52:32Speaker 3: not be.
- 52:33Speaker 1: One of those changes. I don't think he will be,
- 52:37Speaker 1: but there's going to be a lot of discussion.
- 52:40Speaker 3: He's too sorry, but there will be seven years. There
- 52:43Speaker 3: will be amongst dumb people, seven years. The contract. It's
- 52:49Speaker 3: on top of what we're already paying out there. It's
- 52:51Speaker 3: just like, all right, we have to he's gonna be
- 52:52Speaker 3: here for year three. It's gonna be like the Scott
- 52:54Speaker 3: Frost Sinary, where it's like, all right, well, we have
- 52:56Speaker 3: to at least see where this goes this year.
- 52:59Speaker 1: I agree.
- 52:59Speaker 2: I don't think it will happen. There's just gonna be discussion.
- 53:04Speaker 4: Who would you bring in though that would he? I mean,
- 53:06Speaker 4: you keep, you can't just keep.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Everybody does though everybody does. I'm just saying everybody blings
- 53:13Speaker 2: through coaches. Yeah, that is the reality. Name coaches right
- 53:18Speaker 2: now that are at schools for longer than five years.
- 53:23Speaker 4: James Franklin, which, for the love of God, can.
- 53:25Speaker 1: You a different state of the program.
- 53:29Speaker 4: He's been stuck in Neutral for ten years.
- 53:31Speaker 2: There's there's so many programs that are obviously obviously or
- 53:35Speaker 2: Georgia's your hell, you know what I mean? Those schools
- 53:37Speaker 2: are a different state, but schools that are in Nebraska State.
- 53:40Speaker 2: You're not saying coaches stay or because we're kind of
- 53:42Speaker 2: unique where this maybe is an end job if you,
- 53:47Speaker 2: if you coach, well, if a lot of could be
- 53:50Speaker 2: your last job, A lot of coaches on the caliber
- 53:52Speaker 2: level of Maryland, A U C l A, A, Indiana Right.
- 53:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yep, you move up to a bigger job. The Alabamas,
- 54:02Speaker 3: the Georgia's, the Florida's the.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Go and.
- 54:08Speaker 2: At Florida State. I mean that that was a rumor,
- 54:11Speaker 2: a thing that got floated around. Not anymore, I don't think,
- 54:15Speaker 2: but like when we were five and zero that someone
- 54:20Speaker 2: said that not even no, no one credible, but that
- 54:23Speaker 2: just it got thrown out there, so I don't know
- 54:25Speaker 2: it again. A lot of conversation for down the road,
- 54:28Speaker 2: but that's just where my head's at is. Just so
- 54:32Speaker 2: many questions and so many like thoughts. But you're right, Austin,
- 54:35Speaker 2: deep breath, it's a bye weekday figured out. Let's not panic,
- 54:42Speaker 2: but no that it could be coming. But we don't
- 54:45Speaker 2: need to right now, and the players should not, and
- 54:47Speaker 2: the Coke shouldn't. The fans do what the hell ever
- 54:50Speaker 2: hell you want to do, because I really don't care
- 54:51Speaker 2: what everybody thinks.
- 54:52Speaker 3: But we're five and four, three games left that are winnable,
- 54:57Speaker 3: not easy wins, winnable, and we expect it has to
- 55:00Speaker 3: be six and six or seven and five at the
- 55:02Speaker 3: end of the year going into the season with the schedule,
- 55:05Speaker 3: so we're still in play.
- 55:07Speaker 4: I mean, you're gonna be favored out of those three.
- 55:10Speaker 3: Probably, yeah, probably done in Wisconsin.
- 55:16Speaker 4: Maybe maybe I see you well Iowa.
- 55:21Speaker 2: But we're not going to be a ten plus point
- 55:22Speaker 2: dog that any Maybe I maybe, but I know we're
- 55:26Speaker 2: gonna be within a ten point spread, probably within a
- 55:29Speaker 2: touchdown spread of all of them.
- 55:32Speaker 4: Six and a half. I guess, yes, see that.
- 55:34Speaker 2: That's that That's where it's at. So I they're all
- 55:37Speaker 2: winnable games. If you play well, we can win. We
- 55:40Speaker 2: can win all of them. So it comes down to
- 55:45Speaker 2: what what faith and hope there is within the locker room,
- 55:49Speaker 2: which is something that we don't know. We can only speculate,
- 55:52Speaker 2: but we do know as fans that conversations and we
- 55:56Speaker 2: I just sat there during the U c l A game.
- 55:58Speaker 1: I said, boy, it is going to be a rough week.
- 56:02Speaker 2: And I didn't even get on Reddit or I haven't
- 56:04Speaker 2: even looked at Twitter much today, but I'm sure it's
- 56:08Speaker 2: just brutal out.
- 56:09Speaker 5: There was the was the crowd record to celebrate making
- 56:13Speaker 5: a Bowl game coming like going into it as the
- 56:15Speaker 5: crowd pumped up, you felt like.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Well, I mean shit, we had. That was the most
- 56:18Speaker 3: pumped up any of our text chains have been. On
- 56:20Speaker 3: game day, It's like freaking six thirty morning hunters like GVR,
- 56:25Speaker 3: let's go bowling. That doesn't happen. Ever, I talked to
- 56:28Speaker 3: my neighbor who I never talked to us of going
- 56:30Speaker 3: to the game, gonna watch just punch our ticket to
- 56:32Speaker 3: a Bowl.
- 56:34Speaker 1: And that's probably why.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Maybe it hurts a lot more than it probably should,
- 56:37Speaker 2: but I agree it.
- 56:41Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 56:41Speaker 2: The crowd was fine, and I think the rain it
- 56:44Speaker 2: was hard to tell because it was supposed to rain
- 56:46Speaker 2: that it didn't, but it was pretty. The winds were
- 56:50Speaker 2: kind of taking out of everybody's sales right away on
- 56:54Speaker 2: their first drive, which UCLA took the ball.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Took the ball, marched it down for eight minutes, and
- 57:00Speaker 3: then we go three and out. It's like, oh boy,
- 57:04Speaker 3: oh man.
- 57:06Speaker 1: That happens.
- 57:07Speaker 2: I mean, both sides of the ball, you're going. That
- 57:09Speaker 2: was about as worse as I could go and worse
- 57:11Speaker 2: that could go. I don't think that was how the
- 57:13Speaker 2: Indiana game went in for like the next three quarters.
- 57:16Speaker 2: It didn't continue to go like that, but it at
- 57:19Speaker 2: times it still felt like that, right, So.
- 57:24Speaker 4: Okay, at least the basketball season, right, Yeah, I.
- 57:28Speaker 2: Was gonna say Husker volleyball team swept Wisconsin.
- 57:31Speaker 1: That was cool.
- 57:33Speaker 3: That was great, and then swept Northwestern.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Yes, so that was that was awesome.
- 57:38Speaker 2: I do want to spend a little bit of time
- 57:39Speaker 2: you're talking about the basketball team, and we will here
- 57:42Speaker 2: continue as we start playing some games. But we opened
- 57:48Speaker 2: tomorrow against threeal Grand Valley I believe I went to
- 57:55Speaker 2: our exhibition game on Sunday, Sunday, Yes, Sunday of last week,
- 58:02Speaker 2: so a week from today. I don't have many positive
- 58:08Speaker 2: things coming.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Out of that, I will say.
- 58:11Speaker 2: And the we didn't play Sam, Sam didn't play Hoiberg,
- 58:17Speaker 2: and neither did the transfer from North Dakota State. Blanking
- 58:22Speaker 2: on his name the post, I'm.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Not I didn't look into it.
- 58:30Speaker 2: I also don't think Hoyberg is a top five player.
- 58:33Speaker 2: He's got a lot of pieces that will help the
- 58:36Speaker 2: team with this year. I am scared kind of similar
- 58:42Speaker 2: to our UH football team, what our offensive identity and
- 58:48Speaker 2: system is going to be without Case, Tominaga and Rank,
- 58:52Speaker 2: but mainly Case on the court. Case opens up so
- 58:55Speaker 2: much when you have a guy that you have to
- 58:57Speaker 2: game playing around.
- 59:00Speaker 1: When he crossedesaf court. From a shooting perspective.
- 59:02Speaker 2: The Case also was able to drive and do some
- 59:04Speaker 2: things in the paint too.
- 59:05Speaker 1: You had to know where he was.
- 59:06Speaker 2: I think that opens up a lot for other players
- 59:09Speaker 2: more than we realized. I'm scared we don't have that
- 59:13Speaker 2: guy anymore. I thought maybe a Seagan from Wisconsin or
- 59:17Speaker 2: a season I don't want to get his name right, could.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Maybe be a little.
- 59:24Speaker 2: More elusive and versatile and and run him, run him
- 59:27Speaker 2: more off screens and kind of some of the stuff
- 59:29Speaker 2: we do with the Case that's not I don't think
- 59:31Speaker 2: that's gonna happen. I don't think he's as quick as
- 59:35Speaker 2: Case was. Bryce Williams is going to have to be
- 59:42Speaker 2: a dude. That first half against our exhibition game, it
- 59:46Speaker 2: did not look very promising that that could be the case.
- 59:50Speaker 2: In the second half, it did pick up and look better.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Juwan Gary is gonna have to score, but he's not.
- 59:54Speaker 2: He's not a primary scorer. It's a little scary what
- 59:58Speaker 2: this team's offense is going to look like.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: We have a lot of good opponents to work it out.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: But it just didn't seem like we have a good
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: system right now.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Obviously we haven't played.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: A game, but that's that's the red flags come in
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: my way right now on the basketball team. Schedule is
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: gonna be favorable. It's gonna help us out a lot.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: We're gonna have a lot of time to work things through,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: figure out what works, which I think is very smart. Defensively,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I think we're gonna be fine.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I do.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: I think we have length, we have guys that are
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: going to be tough minded. We have some athletes defensively
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: that Braxton Mia that from Washington transfer.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: He is a shot blocker, like.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: He's gonna be good inside from bestial teams that want
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: to drive it and try to score on us. He's
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: not gonna be much of an offensive threat though, he's
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: just not. I don't don't see him doing much there.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: But defensively he's gonna be probably better than Rank was,
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: which which is gonna help us on the defensive end
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: of the floor. But again, offense concerns, there's gonna be
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: a lot there. We'll see how things go here to
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: open the season. Still promise, there's still hope I think
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: with the team, but we'll see how it goes. That's
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: just my opening thoughts. That we're watching the exhibition game.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: I didn't watch, so I don't like hearing that.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: We're gonna miss Casey guys more than we realize. We
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: we finally got a guy that we've been saying for
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: years that from an offensive shooting standpoint, can just knock
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: down shots, and that helped us out so much. Yep,
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: we have guys that can shoot the ball. I think
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: we did bring in. We have depth, Like that's the
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: word I keep hearing. But I think the depth is
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: with a lot of guys, Like our running backs are
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: five or six out of ten, We have a lot
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: of average guys. Can Bryce Williams step in and be
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: that and be a type prospect player this year, That's
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: what we're gonna need to see.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: I think for us to have a good.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Year, be that, and it's gonna be defensive to win.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: His game is kind of like our football team.
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: Yep, it's not gonna be You're not gonna be a
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: high scoring, flashy geam.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: We'll say that, and I'm okay with that from our basket,
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Like I kind of like that style, but we have
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: to be a like offense.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: We cannot go on seven.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Eight minutes scoring droughts like it can't happen, and we've
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: shown to do that in the past. I just think
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: we're gonna have to find a way to be creative
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: with the system that we're running, and Hoiberg is the
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: guy that we want to do that. I think he
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: he does a pretty good job of that. It's just
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: it's just not gonna be centered around a star necessarily
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: that we've had in the past. Last year we didn't
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: really have it. We had about four guys that were
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: all the similar. But I think Case a.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: Threat on the court was huge work effectively last year.
- 1:03:07Speaker 5: You yeah, I mean your your defense should be better
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: of that case. But got that that's scoring off the
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: bank or that scoring going into a game, especially just
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: from three. Based it out for other guys a lot
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: too when they had to. I mean, you had to
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: focus on him the whole time you're on the Brasklon offense.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: But I think a team is actually gonna be okay
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: this year.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: Decent, not anywhere great, but like I've heard a lot
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: of people say they're gonna suck, I don't. I mean,
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: you got Gary come back, you got Williams come back.
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: I think I think that point guard that gambled that game,
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: what his name is, I think he's decent.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: So I'm glad you brought that up.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Aaron Elis from Iowa and then Rollie Worcester who came
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: over from Utah. We do have two true type point guards.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Now they're gonna be where they're gonna be. They're not
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I don't think they're scorers there, but they're they're solid,
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: sure with the ball.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Type of guys.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: And they did have a couple of decent takes and
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: layups that they scored on the exhibition game that I'm like, Okay,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: that was good, Like that was decent. But they don't
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: look like the playmaker type people that we've had in
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: the past. Uh maybe not necessarily a point guard. The
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: other guy that I think is a wild card that
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: if he he just looks a little bit I don't
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: call him gangly, but just a little bit rusty or
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: not coordinated quite yet. But he's athletic as heck, and
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I can tell he can do a lot because they
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: had him bring the ball to the course and they
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: had him in the post, they had him play on
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: top of the key they had him is a berkue
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: bungein Cell or whatever his name is. That he actually
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: looks and is kind of built like a Yokic type
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: of player, just watching him in person, and plays a
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: little bit just kind of point moves a little bit
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: like him. He's not super quick, but he's he's got
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: the shoulders, he's got the body. He's six nine, six ten,
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: he's can shoot three a little bit. He's a big
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: I think that could be a wild card. This year
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: that is gonna play a lot and hopefully can give
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: us an offensive production because of who he is and
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: how he plays the game. Uh So he was one
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: that I was like, Okay, that's cool. And then Gavin
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: griff Griffith is I think can shoot the ball goggles
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: from Ruggers and I think a season can too, Like
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: both of them can. It's just they're not going to
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: be your cases that caliber of how he used him
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: in the offense.
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: Yep, well all goggles and think can come in and
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: safe the day.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: I mean, we're gonna play ten guys and he's gonna
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: be one of them. We're gonna play ten guys that
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: we just were very deep. We're very deep, and that's good.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: That's good, the good problem to have. But it'd also
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: be nice to have a couple of guys that we say, hey,
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: that this person can't come off the court because they're
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: that valuable to us.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Maybe Bryce is that guy.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: But I'm I'm excited to see how they are tomorrow.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: It'll be interesting.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, we'll be back Wednesday, Bye week. Keep breath, everybody,
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: We're gonna do it.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: We'll be fine.
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: Fire sadder Field, you got a whole week.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Ye go bi your head if.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: You are go
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: School, m
