- 0:03Yo, So I'm mad that I'm an idiot and I didn't start recording because
- 0:07that genuine reaction would have been great. Yeah. But this shirt that I'm
- 0:11wearing right now is the shirt I wore on me and my wife's first date.
- 0:16I got it like sixteen years ago. Our Old Navy and Waterford Lakes.
- 0:21If anybody lives in Orlando, and that's why Waterford. I got this
- 0:26shirt that Old Navy in Waterford Lakes for five dollars. Set me up for
- 0:31success. You heard me sixteen years ago? Yeah, man, that's fucking
- 0:35wild. When I was just a young boy. That's funny. Wait does
- 0:42vow remember? Yeah, Okay, I got I got this shirt. And
- 0:46then I have this long sleeve that night Mamby before Christmas. It's a black
- 0:52long sleeve and it has like a night Rember before Christmas graphic on the front.
- 0:56That was I wore that when I first met her. And I still
- 0:59got that and I'll be wearing that got that's so yeah, man, it's
- 1:03all it's crazy, man, And it's held up pretty good. Yeah,
- 1:08saying sixteen years old, you know what I mean. And it's black and
- 1:11like the black isn't like really dingy like I've actually worn it like out like
- 1:15in the in the years, you know what I mean, like in the
- 1:18recent years, because it's still hits, you know. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:19it's a nice little, nice little color way of stripes. Here, say
- 1:26so myself. That's funny, bro, Like, Hey, let's just say
- 1:30this. I remember the shirt that I wore my first day with my fiance.
- 1:34But let's just say the boy got a little bigger. Yeah, hear
- 1:41the gold shirts right right? Right? Oh, it's funny, man.
- 1:47I've been I've been wanting to get back into hooping, so I've been like
- 1:51in the courts more like going with my son and stuff. And I've been
- 1:53wanting to hit this one court more lately. And we were getting ready to
- 1:59go today and it was a shooting there yesterday. So never mind, Dan,
- 2:05Yeah, bro, it's crazy. Was it down? Damn? Supposedly
- 2:08it was like away from the courts and stuff. It was just some kids
- 2:13kind of like playing around from what it seems like right now. But but
- 2:19yeah, man, it's kind of scary because I'd be out there with my
- 2:21son, you know what I mean. Yeah, still ain't gonna bring the
- 2:23kids out there. That's crazy. Yeah, man, even in that area.
- 2:25I wudn't even expect that, you know what I mean. It's like
- 2:29a neighborhood area, a lot of families. It's like a rec center too,
- 2:32you know what I mean. It's super super random for sure. Man,
- 2:36It's funny because that gym actually has I've seen it randomly pop up on
- 2:39ig like little random viral street ball kind of clips. I guess they got
- 2:45a couple guys that be filming that live out here, you know what I
- 2:49mean. They'd be going to those outside courts and the inside courts every once
- 2:53in a while, and they'd be like a lot of viral basketball clips from
- 2:55there, and I'd be like, oh, damn, that's the court that
- 2:58I'd be going to. It's crazy. I never would have thought, you
- 3:00know what I mean, because I'm not like some crazy like city area,
- 3:04you know what i mean. Damn, Bro, you'd be going out there
- 3:06trying to hoop boy about to go out there and get cooked by wanting the
- 3:08viral boards. Sometimes we be playing and a dude be like, just so
- 3:12everybody now, I'm feeling oh sing in the corner. Noah, but you
- 3:19could bring I'm not. I'm not killing them like I used to, you
- 3:23know what I mean. Yeah, I'm not going to say that I'm killing
- 3:24them. I'm not in that kind of shape yet. I can get in
- 3:28that shape. I feel it. It's on the way. Yeah. But
- 3:30like if I stick to like the stuff that I know I could do,
- 3:35I'm ooping out there. You still hold your own Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 3:37Like like if I if I just know, all right, I'm shooting
- 3:39and passing, you know what I mean, Like I can I could get
- 3:44like a nice little mid range penetration a couple of times, but like I
- 3:46can't score every time, you know what I mean? Like, yeah,
- 3:50I can give you a good like four points, you know, solid for
- 3:53the person I'm playing on defense on he ain't really doing nothing, you feel
- 3:58what I'm saying. I'm holding my own random rebounds. Yeah, I got
- 4:01the slick eye, so I'm catching the steel. You know what I mean?
- 4:05You count on me for the final, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:09I might have missed the first three, but if it's the game, you
- 4:11know I'm a making That's funny, man. No, I actually recently got
- 4:17back into soccer, man, and that's been dope. Man. That's actually
- 4:23been really dope. Man. I don't know if I ever told you this
- 4:24story, bro, but like or I might have. But like you know,
- 4:27I grew up playing soccer, man, and I was nice, dog
- 4:29Like I was really really nice dog like trophies and stuff worth right, yeah,
- 4:34yeah, yeah, yeah, And you know when we moved to Florida,
- 4:38Like you know, I remember one of the pictures, dog of you
- 4:41in the uniform, like in your house, Dog. I see the pictures,
- 4:46you see it? Yeah, did you wear like a Maroon jersey?
- 4:50Yeah? I had one team where I was Maroon. I had a few
- 4:54different teams, bro, but yeah, I know the one you're talking about
- 4:57at that point when I had the Maroon where I was nice. Yeah,
- 5:00by that time, I was nice. Like I had some pictures of when
- 5:01I was younger and I was still kind of learning the game, you know
- 5:04what I mean. But by that time, but I was I was that
- 5:06dude. And I remember I moved to Florida, man, and like my
- 5:11mom put me in like a league and it was a bunch of white kids.
- 5:15I think I was the only black kid, and they immediately like put
- 5:16me on a bench and like, being like thirteen at the time, fourteen
- 5:19at the time, bro. I already didn't want to be in Florida,
- 5:23so like I was like, forget it. I gave up on soccer,
- 5:25which I really regret that, man, because like I was actually really good
- 5:29but recently, but I basically my sister she started to put her kids in
- 5:36soccer and she became a coach. And when I went out there to go
- 5:39see the game, I got like super motivated. I was like, yo,
- 5:42I'm a train I'm join an adult league. And so I had my
- 5:45first game last Sunday, and Yo, that joont was dope man. I
- 5:47had a great time. That adult league community in soccer is dope, man.
- 5:51Like s got out to my homie Matt Man. I used to work
- 5:55with him at the airport and he's a big soccer guy, and he was
- 5:58the one that kind of put it on my or that they even be doing
- 6:00that. Like you used to go to like these indoor soccer leagues and play.
- 6:03You would get together with people and play soccer. Yo, buy my
- 6:05house one of the times you come out here, we will go out there
- 6:10on the weekend. If they out there, yeah, going every weekend because
- 6:14you know they got the big soccer fields near my crib. We going out
- 6:16there every weekend. Deep. Bro, they be playing games like on like
- 6:19four courts, I mean four fields. You know, they be going in
- 6:24over there. Bro. It's dope. Man. The league that I'm in
- 6:27is super organized too, bro, Like they got like it's almost like I
- 6:30said, it's like the leagues that I was in as a kid. You
- 6:32know what I'm saying, Like there's uh, you know, a week week
- 6:36every game every week. You know, you got your they keep the record
- 6:41at the end, you know what I'm saying. They got the playoffs.
- 6:43Whoever wins, they get the trophy. You know what I'm saying. It's
- 6:45like it's like a legit situation, you know, and they for real bro,
- 6:48like they put Bro. I was out there and I was like,
- 6:50oh, oh yeah, this is what I needed because now I'm in the
- 6:54gym. Bro, y'all not about to see me out here trash, Like
- 6:56y'all gonna see me, you know. So like that was like the motivation
- 6:59I needed to really like get right. I've been back in the gym working
- 7:01on my cardio and I'm just super hyped, bro, because it's like the
- 7:05season is like ten weeks and then there's another season a month after that,
- 7:10that's another ten weeks. So I'm gonna just stay locked in with it because
- 7:12it's definitely getting me motivated to get back in shape for sure. Yeah.
- 7:15Man, that that athletic kind of competition, not even just competition, but
- 7:24just something with a motivation to do something athletic, you know what I mean.
- 7:29That'd be the thing that that I feel like is missing specifically for my
- 7:33life, just because I used to play ball so much, you know what
- 7:35I'm saying, So like I'm gonna play I'm in that league with Joe now,
- 7:41the softball league. I never played softball before, but you know what
- 7:45I'm saying, he said, it's I like baseball. I played baseball before,
- 7:49so you know, I'm Puerto Rican dog this right. Yeah, you
- 7:56know what I mean. I'm a hype to do that, just to you
- 7:59know, have something every week to look forward to, like that, you
- 8:01know, something to be mindful of when I'm working out, you know work.
- 8:05You know, I'm probably gonna pull up like workouts that are good for
- 8:09softball, you know what i mean, change up my routine to work around
- 8:13that. So I'm excited about that. Man. It's gonna be dope.
- 8:15Yeah, man, that's super dope, bron. Like you know you kind
- 8:18of like, especially as we get older, but we kind of forget,
- 8:20like you know what I mean, you kind of need that, you know
- 8:22what I mean, that little outlet you know. Yeah, I'm like,
- 8:24man, I'm telling you, bro, Like I left that game, bro,
- 8:26and I was like, damn, Like I almost forgot how I feel
- 8:30to be like in something like that, like that competitive spirit, you know
- 8:31what I mean. Yeah, And even from the mental point of view,
- 8:35like that's the thing we always talk about with music, Like people sometimes want
- 8:37to look at arts like it's something stupid or whatever, but it's like it's
- 8:41just a mental way to relieve that stress or you know, a mental exercise
- 8:46something that. You know, them hobbies, bro, Like them hobbies be
- 8:50crucial. A lot of people will be putting that to the side and they
- 8:52be just focused on work or like thinking they have a machine or something like.
- 8:56It's like, nah, man, like you're here to to enjoy and
- 9:01grow as well, you know what I'm saying. Big facts. Yeah,
- 9:05So definitely looking forward to this weekend, bro, because the last week I
- 9:09ain't gonna lie. Man. We caught that l at the last minute,
- 9:11so we already know. I've been in the gym last last weekend. My
- 9:16son won the championship and won the championship. How he do like on his
- 9:24own the last game, so he was disappointed in himself because he didn't like
- 9:30he wasn't scoring, like about like halfway through the game, and he was
- 9:33like you could tell he was down about it, you know what I mean.
- 9:35And then like they benched him. But it's like one of those leagues
- 9:39where they have to bench you, like you know, yeah, every kid
- 9:43amount of quarters you know, yeah, coach did it. So at least
- 9:46he's in the fourth quarter. And he was explaining to him, like,
- 9:48yo, I want you in the fourth quarter because he's putting the best lineup
- 9:50at the end so they can close it out, especially if it's tight.
- 9:54It was tight, you know what I'm saying. And the coach, that
- 9:56coach be taking this serious, bro, like he'd be playing beforehand. He
- 10:01be coming with a clipboard with plays and everything. Dog Like he got my
- 10:05son locked in, bro, Like it's super dope. He's it's dope,
- 10:09man, because he's a black dude. He's a sheriff saw the picture,
- 10:13yep, And he's and his son is on the team too, and his
- 10:16son is like the best player on the team, you know what I mean.
- 10:18But he's like one of those dudes that he's not like being like a
- 10:22favorite to favorite to the sun, you know what I mean. Like,
- 10:24you know what I mean, there's some games that he sees that my son
- 10:28got control of the flow and everything. He's telling his son, Yo,
- 10:30make sure you give it to him so he can run the ball or whatever.
- 10:33You know what I mean. Lets my son run the game and make
- 10:35the decisions and stuff. So it's dope. But he didn't score. It
- 10:39was a tight game though, Like they didn't even score past twenty, you
- 10:43know what I mean. Yeah, Like he had a couple of looks and
- 10:46that's why he was disappointed because he knows that he missed ones that he should
- 10:48have made. But he played great defense. He had he had his dude
- 10:52on lock. His dude, his dude ain't do nothing. He was stilling
- 10:54the ball. He had a lot of rebounds, you know what I'm saying.
- 10:58And I explained it today on the way home. Matter of fact,
- 11:01because like I gave him a couple of days, you know what I mean.
- 11:05I didn't want to like, you know, they still at the end
- 11:07of the day, they won, right right right right like rain on his
- 11:09parade to talk to him about it, you know what I mean. And
- 11:13so you know, I waited till today, which has been like three days
- 11:16or four days. I was like, hey, you know, I just
- 11:20asked him about like how he was feeling during the game and everything, and
- 11:22he was just telling me, you know. You know, that's when he
- 11:26mentioned to me that he was mad that he got benched, and then he
- 11:28was that he was mad that he ain't scored. And I just basically like
- 11:31explain to him, like, you know, how you can affect the game
- 11:33in other ways. And at the end of the day, basketball was ball
- 11:35again in w and they got to w you know, they're the champion.
- 11:39You know, if somebody else was there shouting him and and he wouldn't have
- 11:43made the shots, but he had a better attitude, they would have known,
- 11:46like yo, they would have known by seeing his form and everything that
- 11:48he's a good player. Maybe he was just off that day exactly his undeniable
- 11:52like you don't need to be on to play defense, you don't need to
- 11:56get those steals, and you know what I'm saying. So he was locked
- 11:58in on the other end. But I told him, like, but the
- 12:01thing that might have messed you up was they would have seen the attitude and
- 12:05to look on you're facing stuff, and they might have thought, oh,
- 12:07maybe he's not a good fit for my team because maybe he got a little
- 12:09attitude. I mean, so I was just explaining to him, like,
- 12:13you did good. You know what I'm saying, Like you played the best
- 12:16that you could. You know, you missed some shots that could have gone
- 12:18your way, but that's you know that happens. You didn't let it affect
- 12:22you the rest of your game. But you know what I mean, Like
- 12:26the attitude, you know, you can't got to fix that team. You
- 12:28can't let it affect how you're moving, you know what I mean? Mm
- 12:31hm, that's real. Now, that's dope, man, Like that's dope
- 12:35that he got the dub though, because I you know, I don't know
- 12:37if you ever bought it up on the pile, but you know, last
- 12:39year was a tough He had a tough loss when I was out there,
- 12:41and he kind of he had like a little chip on his shoulder two years
- 12:46in a row. He cried in the last game. Brom h the first
- 12:48year, he cried in the last game when he realized, like that was
- 12:52it, you know what I mean. The second year, they was in
- 12:54the playoffs and he knew they had to win that game, and they lost
- 12:58and he knew that was it too, where it's even more. And this
- 13:01year they came back undefeated and won the championship and he was crying, but
- 13:05tears of joy this time. You know. That's dope. Yeah, man,
- 13:09one of the dads he got them like little championship rings and everything.
- 13:13Yeah. I saw that in the picture. I was like that they got
- 13:15rings and the coaches son. It was his birthday the day they played the
- 13:22game, so they had altitude. Oh, they had a great game place.
- 13:28So he was out there, you know, bouncing off the trampolines and
- 13:31stuff like it was. That's why, like I said, that's why I
- 13:33ain't talked him about it. I'm like, yeah, let him ride that
- 13:35high. Yeah yeah, facts, I'm not gonna ruin this great day for
- 13:39my man. Yeah. That's dope, man, that's super dope. Mm
- 13:43hmmm. That boy just size yeah, man, the kids the kids of
- 13:48Hooper Man. Yeah, you know what I'm saying, if you get some
- 13:52size, we might be on the song, but we shall see right and
- 14:00you never know, man, because you might hit that grol spurg and out
- 14:01of nowhere. You know, bro, dudes in my family and vows family,
- 14:05it's tall. That's why I'm tight, Like I'm supposed to be tall,
- 14:09dog like you know my own my great grandpa's tall, you know what
- 14:15I'm saying, Like like everybody was tall, Like I don't know what happened
- 14:18with me. Like I'm not short, you know what I mean? But
- 14:20I'm not tall right right, a regular guy. Hey, man, it's
- 14:24all good because I accepted my fate a long time ago. I had no
- 14:28chance, no chance in hell. Yo, Kudos to you and Joe though,
- 14:35because at least y'all pass the threshold. You feel me, y'all not
- 14:39in the threshold where it's like damn bro, you know what I mean,
- 14:43Like you're not even touching the sad category. Yeah, yeah, Like the
- 14:48sad category is where it's like, dang, bro. That gotta be like,
- 14:52bro, life could be cruel dog life cool? Bro. Hey.
- 15:01The good thing, bro, is I got a little size on me,
- 15:03So I always feel good because I got size, you know what I mean,
- 15:05Like I've always said, you're not even in the You're not even in
- 15:07the range where you even have to justify it because you're not in the range.
- 15:11Yeah, you're in the range. That gotta be crazy, brog.
- 15:18Yeah that's right. Oh man, but no, I know you wanted to
- 15:24uh, you wanted to tap on tap into this Wentworth Wentworth? Oh yeah,
- 15:31man, because that that went Worth party was crazy. Man. That
- 15:35was the last album technically that I dropped, like that album, yeah,
- 15:43because I haven't dropped the album since. Oh snap, like you had like
- 15:46EP, like look like EP. You know what I'm saying. Oh wow,
- 15:50Yeah. Yeah, So that was like the last actual like real put
- 15:54together project got dropped. It was a while ago. Bro mm hmm,
- 15:56I mean twenty nineteen, twenty twenty. I believe that was the last you
- 16:04mentioned that I didn't really think about because that was another thing that's kind of
- 16:08crazy to think about. That was the last event that we had went to
- 16:12before the COVID stuff started, right literally right before, like people had just
- 16:18started like hearing the rumblings and like on the level they were starting to like
- 16:22not show up places, staying home things like that. But it wasn't like
- 16:27a lot of people were doing. It was just like the real careful people
- 16:30that was really like Okay, it was like something ain't looking good right now.
- 16:33Yeah. Yeah. I think that night there was at least a couple
- 16:37of people that even bought tickets that were like, yo, you know this
- 16:41thing is kind of going around, We're not going to risk it, you
- 16:44know what I mean. It was like the first like little rumblings, you
- 16:47know what I mean, Yep, yep. That was just that was kind
- 16:51of crazy, man. And it was just like wow, because it was
- 16:56such a dope event and like it was such a major thing that we were
- 16:59able to pull off, like in a very like Novice way, you know
- 17:03what I mean, Like it just kind of like dipping our toes in it.
- 17:06And then the COVID thing happened, and it's just like turning everything around
- 17:10facts COVID really like because I feel like that event was like almost like a
- 17:15propelling like situation that was about to happen. We were on a trajectory,
- 17:18for sure, It was definitely on a trajectory, bro And then COVID happened,
- 17:22and I really set everything back because I feel like even at that time,
- 17:26but neither of us really had our own studios and stuff like that,
- 17:30yet you know what I mean, Like we had our little setups, but
- 17:33it wasn't enough to make quality music, you know, Like we were just
- 17:37going to the studio regularly. Yeah, Like we was booking sessions just to
- 17:41book sessions. Like it was like, yeah, we got none to work,
- 17:45don't have no plan, but if not, we'll figure it out right
- 17:48right right. Yeah, I definitely missed that vibe, man, Like that's
- 17:52something that's like something that you don't even consider, is like a really dope
- 17:56moment in time until it passes, you know what I mean? Mm hmm,
- 18:00because you can't recapture those moments. Man. I feel like that's one
- 18:03of the beautiful things about being an artist and making music, dog is like
- 18:07when you have those spontaneous sessions like I'll never forget, Like sessions like the
- 18:14Mama Ain't working session, you know what I mean, Like the session like
- 18:18the this Moment session from the Wentworth album Shoot, Like you know, I
- 18:25feel like every song on that album just about you can just think back to
- 18:29those moments, Like, man, those were dope moments, you know what
- 18:30I mean. Just the fact that like give her Love was like one of
- 18:33the songs that people really rock with, and we we figured it out.
- 18:37We figured that song out like ten minutes on the highway. Facts like driving
- 18:42Literallysion was just like old spur of the moment. Oh we out all right,
- 18:47but let's figure it out. And then we just like had to be
- 18:49like sent to us like not that long before, and we just and was
- 18:55like, Yo, let's do something like this. Got there, laid it
- 18:56down and he was like, y'all, just y'all just did this right now
- 19:00like he did. He was surprised, Yo, got about that because he
- 19:04had just yep, that's facts. I forgot about that. Open the door.
- 19:08Remember he was laying the son, Yo, this ship is dope,
- 19:12and he opened the door. So the people that was like walking back and
- 19:15here here. Yeah, I forgot. We met a couple of people off
- 19:19that like they were just coming in. Yeah. They was fucking with it.
- 19:22Yeah, man, that's crazy. I forgot. Man, we was
- 19:26in such a pocket. That was a good next little time creatively. Yeah,
- 19:32man, that was that was definitely a zone brom. You know.
- 19:37It's funny man, because I was talking to my boy Kevin, shout out
- 19:40to him, man, he just finished his move back out to Florida from
- 19:42Virginia. He's retiring from the Navy soon, not super not so soon,
- 19:48but soon, you know what I mean. He's satting up you know,
- 19:51his life and he's about two hours away from me. Man, I'm hype
- 19:55man. He was my best friend in high school. Dog, so it's
- 19:57dope that he's coming back. And but yeah, I was just talking to
- 20:03him about like just the studies and stuff that have come out about like working
- 20:07from home and how it's like affected people mentally, like working at the same
- 20:12place where you're living, you know what I mean, And like a lot
- 20:15of people still having to do like a like a process that's almost like driving
- 20:18home, you know what I mean, Like they still need that time,
- 20:22regardless if it's to drive home or they need to do something, because it's
- 20:26like it's like a weird kind of world you're living in where your work is
- 20:30your home. You know. Yeah, Bro, it's like if you don't
- 20:33and that like a lot of people used to ask like like why, you
- 20:37know, go for such a big space as far as home goes. But
- 20:41it's like, Bro, me and my partner both work from home, you
- 20:45know what I mean. It's like if I have a two bedroom apartment and
- 20:48we both work from home. We would go crazy. If you don't feel
- 20:52like a jail. It's gonna feel like every day you wake up, you're
- 20:55gonna feel like you're at work. As soon as you close your laptop,
- 20:57you still gonna feel like you at work, you know what I mean.
- 21:00So, like, you know, that's why for me, I love that
- 21:03we have the space to be able to, like you know what I'm saying,
- 21:07like walk out and close the door to our office because it's like,
- 21:11bro, you need that space, dude. And you're right, man,
- 21:15After a while, you start realizing like, damn man, I'm waking up
- 21:18and going to sleep in the same place I'm working, Like what is this?
- 21:22You know? Yeah, it's just definitely like if you don't manage it
- 21:25well, it can really like get to you and you might not even know
- 21:27that it's getting to you, you know what I mean. It's like like
- 21:32you could get to a place where you're like on edge while you're at home
- 21:34exactly. You're never able to shut down. You're never able to shut down.
- 21:38And that's the beauty of like when you leave an office and your computer
- 21:42is at the office or your work is at the office. You're gone.
- 21:45There's like there's nothing that can happen that can make you go back into work
- 21:49mode because you're not at work when you're at home. Bro. It's some
- 21:53people, you know what I'm saying. They got their their work emails and
- 21:56stuff on their phone, so they just scroll in and enjoy their free time
- 22:00and they just got to email. Now they pulling off their laptop to try
- 22:03to get some stuff together. It's like, well, you're never off.
- 22:06Yeah, it's crazy, man. And man, it's just definitely uh they
- 22:15I forgot where I heard it, but they said that it's gonna be very
- 22:17interesting kind of seeing the long term effects of like this time, like with
- 22:22the what we were just talking about, the COVID, the Wentworth event,
- 22:25you know what I mean, Like what kind of came from all that.
- 22:26It's definitely like a crazy, crazy thing that happened. Like you know what
- 22:33I'm saying, it's wild, man, because people our age, bro,
- 22:37Like we've been through a lot of crazy stuff. Dog, Like you know,
- 22:41every generation ain't really how to go through like certain things, you know
- 22:44what I mean. I'm not saying we had it the worst by any means,
- 22:47because like you know, even just thinking about like people that went through
- 22:51war times whatever was like major casualties, you know, where a lot of
- 22:55young men was dying, Like there's there's you know, slavery times. Like
- 22:59you know what I'm saying, Like I'm never gonna say, like I'm I
- 23:02got it worse than somebody that was a slave dog, because like that's that's
- 23:04like just a whole dog. Like, but it's definitely like a lot of
- 23:11global and national and just like crazy events and just the way that technology has
- 23:17advanced, like it's on a whole other level now, you know what I
- 23:19mean, Like you wouldn't even like if you live somewhere and nothing's going on,
- 23:23you wouldn't even know other stuff is going on. Like we're burdened with
- 23:27everything that's going on everywhere at the same time, you know what I mean.
- 23:30Like we know like there's a struggle here, the struggle there, Like
- 23:34we know to a t, like we could pull up on our phone like
- 23:37their point of view and even see exactly what they're living like and when we're
- 23:41just doing our thing, we're thinking about like damn, bro, like somebody
- 23:44in this area right now is going through this, Like bro, Like you
- 23:48know, people back in the day. Wasn't going through that, you know
- 23:51what I'm saying. They were just dealing with their own personal struggle, and
- 23:53that was like the scope of the world, you know what I mean.
- 23:56They didn't even know what anybody else was doing. They just knew what the
- 24:00people around them was doing. Yeah, but you know everybody's doing. I
- 24:03was reading the fifty cent Hustle, Harder, Hustle, Smarter book and he
- 24:07was talking about how when he was in I want to say Africa, I
- 24:11can't remember what actual country in Africa, but he was there, and you
- 24:18know, he that experience really humbled him because he saw like a lot of
- 24:21like just situations there that was like bro us in America, like we would
- 24:26never be able to handle that kind of stuff, right, But at the
- 24:30same time, he was like, but a lot of these kids had so
- 24:33much more joy than what we have in America, you know what I mean,
- 24:38even though they had way less. And it's like, if you think
- 24:42about it, bro like they don't have that exposure, you know what I'm
- 24:45saying, Like they have their problems, of course, but if they're quote
- 24:49unquote missing out, they don't even know they're missing out exactly exactly. So
- 24:53it's like that's crazy, you know when you actually think about it that It's
- 24:57like sometimes people always think like having this access is such a like progression,
- 25:03but in a sense it's also a regression, a burden, you know what
- 25:07I mean. Like in a sense it's bliss in a sense, there's always
- 25:11ignorance. There's always pros and cons, bro. Like people in general tend
- 25:18to think like that you're getting like you can tip the scales a certain way,
- 25:22but it's always balanced, bro, you know what I'm saying. It's
- 25:25like it's kind of like how I always say, if you don't go to
- 25:27school, you're still gonna pay the price somehow, you know what I'm saying,
- 25:30Like people think, oh, I'm not going to go to college,
- 25:33I'm gonna figure it out. Like even if you figure it out, it's
- 25:36still going to cost you. You know what I'm saying. If you want
- 25:37to be an artist, it's still going to cost you. If whatever you
- 25:41want to be is going to cost you, like anything, any path you
- 25:45take, like if it's going to be worth anything's gonna cost you. And
- 25:48there's just a certain balance of life, bro, And it's just always going
- 25:52to be there. You know what I mean. Ye, facts, Yeah,
- 25:56that's that's how it goes man, That's why. You know, even
- 26:00just reflecting on that Wentworth situation, br it's like it was such a dope
- 26:06time, but also I feel like, you know, as much as we
- 26:11enjoyed that time, we both were like in situations that we would rather not
- 26:17be in today, you know what I mean, Oh, facts facts Like
- 26:19so it's like it's crazy when you think about it, Like we were so
- 26:23like invested into the music and so like in a pocket, but then like
- 26:29at the same time, like where we are today, like just in life
- 26:32is just so much further than where we was, you know what I mean.
- 26:36But it's a result of that because like once we realized that we had
- 26:41the the skills and the capacity to work for it, but we realized that
- 26:48we were utilizing those muscles the wrong way, and we redirected it. Look
- 26:52how quick everything turned around, facts, you know what I'm saying. Like
- 26:56we was, we was plateauing on every level, professionally, financially, you
- 27:03know, everything just plateauing. Then we just redirected our energies to fixing everything,
- 27:08like just in ourselves first, like in our lives and just just like
- 27:14that we was you know, light years ahead facts, you know what I'm
- 27:18saying, And it's just you know what I mean, Sometimes it goes back
- 27:25to just being solid, bro, Like you know what I mean. Like
- 27:29sometimes you just assume people are on the same vibes that you're on, and
- 27:34that naiveness is not an excuse. It's just like you got to realize,
- 27:38like that you should have been smarter type thing, you know what I mean.
- 27:41Like that's why I'm always saying, like you got to look at yourself
- 27:45whenever stuff happens, because there's always something that you did that you knew was
- 27:49against the balance, but you decided against it because something feeling, you know,
- 27:56something in your feelings made you do it, you know what I'm saying.
- 27:59But when you look back, the signs were always there. There was
- 28:02always something unbalanced, you know what I'm saying. Like whenever, whenever you
- 28:07feel balanced in any relationship, it's really easy to maintain, you know what
- 28:11I mean, because you know that it's balanced. You know that they're not
- 28:15trying to tip the scales. You know that you're not trying to tip the
- 28:18scales. You know that y'are both in it for the same reason, and
- 28:22it's just balanced, you know what I mean, Like whatever relationship it is,
- 28:26you know what I'm saying. If it's personal business, you know what
- 28:30I mean, If it's just mutually beneficial, like whatever it is, as
- 28:33long as it's balanced and everybody know what it is, everything's cool. Sometimes
- 28:37And I know for me, sometimes we fail in being balanced, you know
- 28:42what I mean, Like we don't maintain the balance, and then if we
- 28:47don't maintain the balance, it's gonna tip, and it's not gonna tip in
- 28:49your favor, you know what I mean, right right, Like you always
- 28:53it's like I always say, bro, like there's some in you that less
- 28:57you know, like what you should be doing, Like you know you're doing
- 29:00the wrong thing, And anytime you do the wrong thing, it's always going
- 29:03to come back and bute you in the ass. It might not be in
- 29:06such a like gigantic way, you know what I mean. Maybe you misplace
- 29:10your keys and you know it costs you, you know, a late trip
- 29:14in the morning. You know, you know you're five minutes late. Okay,
- 29:18you know it ain't nothing, but you still got it paid back,
- 29:21you know, right. Sometimes it's not catastrophic, but it's still gonna come
- 29:25back right right. Yeah, that's too real, bro, that's too real.
- 29:30But you uh what you got planned now as far as uh means,
- 29:33I know you have. He has some things in the pipeline, I know.
- 29:37Yeah, man, Like honestly, bro, like even like we took
- 29:41a little hiatus, he was on vacation. Joe's on a vacation right now.
- 29:45Matter of fact, he's on a cruise looking like he having a blast
- 29:48out there with his whole fan That gotta be dope. Man, We're having
- 29:51a good time. Yeah man. He just did the Puppy Tulo selfie today.
- 29:56Yeah yeah, but yeah man, yeah, man, just taking some
- 30:03time to reset dog. This this business stuff is not easy, my man,
- 30:08you know what I mean. I know you know, but you know
- 30:11it's like I told my wife, man, like if if everybody could could
- 30:17set up their own thing, everybody would set up their own thing exactly.
- 30:19You know what I mean. You just got to weather that storm, you
- 30:22know what I mean. Sometimes you feel crazy because I'm like we were talking
- 30:26about it before. I'm like, damn, Like, how do you just
- 30:29like have like all like you're doing good. All your money's in the savings,
- 30:33A lot of money come in and you just say, let me,
- 30:36let me spend all this money so that I make my money later, you
- 30:40know what I mean. Like it's like you know it's for a reason,
- 30:42and you know it's smart, and you know you sticking to the plan.
- 30:45But there's those moments in between, like dangn bro, I was chilling,
- 30:48you know. Yeah, yeah, But at the same time, you know
- 30:52that being in control of my own fate, man, that's really important to
- 30:55me. Man. So I'm just I'm really focused on making moves to make
- 30:59that happen. And like even with the music, bro, Like I just
- 31:02been paused on my project because of that, you know what I mean,
- 31:04Like all the money that I had for the project went into the just salon
- 31:08stuff and you know, just things being held up there that shouldn't be held
- 31:12up, you know, certain things. But anyway, everything is like even
- 31:18and out now. And I just got like a big library of music with
- 31:22shout out to him, I got a big library of music that I've been
- 31:26working on myself, just with the with the machine, Man, I've been
- 31:30locked in. I made a man. I love this thing. Man,
- 31:33I don't know how long I've had it. I don't know you know,
- 31:38if this is like a like a halfway through review or whatever, but it
- 31:42still was a great purchase to me. I'm I'm loving cooking up on it.
- 31:48I just now started getting into sampling, you know what I mean.
- 31:52I've been hearing Splice and downloading like some guitar loops and different stuff and just
- 31:57kind of playing around with sam and building melodies and stuff around those samples.
- 32:02And one of the next joints that I'm doing is one of those. So
- 32:06I'm excited to, you know what i mean, start moving in that direction.
- 32:09Man, It's dope because you know, you get the alu. Yeah,
- 32:15you don't have to like come up with the whole direction, you know
- 32:17what I mean. And for people that don't know, splices like a music
- 32:22library of stuff that you can use, like elements that you can use in
- 32:25your music. And it's already pre cleared as far as like you don't have
- 32:30to get permission to use it because it's on Splice. You can use it,
- 32:35you know what I mean, And you don't have to like oh or
- 32:37anything like that. So it's like a dope resource and it's a big library,
- 32:42so everybody can use the sounds you just got to tweak it in a
- 32:45way that it doesn't sound like whoever else uses it, you know what I
- 32:47mean? Because go ahead. I was gonna say for anybody that's been following
- 32:53us and knows about our song perfect, that loves the song and has heard
- 32:59similar you know, melodies from the song. The main melody in that song
- 33:04came from Splice from Splice, and basically what happens is like if you don't
- 33:07tweak the sound, like a lot of people just use the sounds as is,
- 33:13you know what I mean. And you got to think it even shows
- 33:15how many times it's been viewed, how many times it's been downloaded, so
- 33:17like you know, like how many people have been looking at that sound.
- 33:22So you gotta in my opinion and shout out to them. Because he's the
- 33:24same way. He's like, he'll never just use a sample, you know
- 33:29what I mean. He's like, I'll keep the same vibe, you know
- 33:31what I mean. I'll build a similar melody, you know, I'll use
- 33:36the same chords, But he's not going to use the sample because it's like
- 33:38it's the same, you know what I mean, it's out there, you
- 33:40know what I mean. We're making original music, So I always appreciate that
- 33:45with him. You know, it takes a little longer, but I'm about
- 33:49that life, you know what I mean, Like making great music takes time,
- 33:52so I always appreciate that about him, Like we take our time building
- 33:57music. And you know, me and him got a lot of music.
- 33:59Because I've still been recording, you know what I mean. Shout out to
- 34:01him. You know, he always locks me in for a session no matter
- 34:05what. So I've still been recording and the music is there. I've been
- 34:08riding to it a lot lately and really just analyzing it and because I'm getting
- 34:14ready to start dropping. So I'm excited, man, I'm excited about the
- 34:17music that I'm going to drop. Like I forgot how dope it was.
- 34:23It's like in such a rough shape that I can't even imagine how it's gonna
- 34:28sound when it's like, you know, when it sounds like how it's supposed
- 34:30to sound, you know what I mean? Yeah, Yeah, And I'm
- 34:35finally gonna drop all Night Dog. I'm bro, that's all. I love
- 34:39that song, man, I love that song. I hope, I hope.
- 34:42I'm excited for you to drop it now with the fan base that you
- 34:45have, now you know what I mean, Yeah, facts, man,
- 34:46And I'm excited to shoot the video for that. Man. I got a
- 34:52dope idea for that video, and I still I've had it since I've recorded
- 34:55the song. Bro. It's been like almost three years since I recorded that
- 34:59song. Bro. So like that's that same idea. It's still locked in
- 35:04because it's such a like dope and like it doesn't it's not really tied to
- 35:07anything. It's just an idea within itself. So like it just still it
- 35:10still hits now, you know what I mean. I'm still doing that same
- 35:14idea and I'm just excited to get this thing in motion, man. Like
- 35:16I got a lot of dope music on the way. Man, that's dope.
- 35:21Man. Hey, it's the growing pains, bro, the growing pains,
- 35:24and I feel like that's what we've been experiencing since the Windworth. Uh.
- 35:30You know what I'm saying, project is just constant growing pains man.
- 35:32Like, uh, you know, I'm actually super excited. Man. I
- 35:36just had like the most beautiful, amazing getting fired from one of my jobs
- 35:43experienced last week. That the liberation is beautiful. So I'm so excited to
- 35:49like have that time again. You know what I mean, it did what
- 35:52it was supposed to do. It got me where I needed to get.
- 35:54And now I'm ready to get back locked in. And I still was working
- 35:58on music and writing, but I just was not really recording as much because
- 36:01I've just been so busy. Man. But you know, like I said
- 36:04that liberation is beautiful because now I have the time and the energy and I'm
- 36:07ready to get locked back in. Man. I already had my conversation with
- 36:10Freddie how we want to roll things out. So it's just really just getting
- 36:15locked in and getting everything recorded and getting everything lined up so we can start
- 36:20getting back on the grind. Man. I definitely am excited. And it's
- 36:22crazy, man, because we're not even that far off from like releasing stuff
- 36:27and really being an emotion. It's just like we're just so in that mode
- 36:31all the time that sometimes you can't really step back and see, like,
- 36:35oh, you know, put out a lot of dup music, build a
- 36:38fan base, people still listening, people still asking for music. Like you
- 36:43know, there's artists that take two years off, you know what I mean,
- 36:45and go through the same thing, like just going through the growing pains
- 36:50and different situations with budgets and things. Like that. It's like it's not
- 36:53an easy thing to do, you know what I'm saying, But we're so
- 36:57used to making it happen, you know what I mean. It's like even
- 37:00like a small layoff feels like forever, you know what I mean. And
- 37:02that's another thing too, is that like even like the people around you that
- 37:07kind of see, you know what I'm saying, things slow down, it's
- 37:09like they don't really know that. It's like, bro, this music thing
- 37:14ain't cheap, you know what I mean. It's like we are all human
- 37:17and we are all going through the same stuff that you're going through when you
- 37:22have to slow down on going out, you know what I mean, Like
- 37:24the same same stuff. The only difference is that instead of going to the
- 37:29club, I'm slowing down on going to the studio, you know what I
- 37:30mean. It's like if you privy to any other Spotify stuff, and all
- 37:34this fighting about music royalties is because no artist makes enough money off streaming that
- 37:39they could live off of it, you know. Shoop Dogg said in an
- 37:43interview that like in one year or something, he made I think like thirty
- 37:46seven K or something from Spotify, like snoopop dog Loggie. Yes, you
- 37:51know what I mean. Like if that's what Snoop Dogg making, Bro,
- 37:53imagine somebody like us, that's you know what I'm saying, Like just cracking
- 37:57one hundred thousands, you know what I mean, Like m h ain't gonna
- 38:00be that. Even even if I was making that, it's still not enough.
- 38:05Fact. It's like like you said, Bro, And it's partly like
- 38:10we always talk about, like the social media stuff, like people make it
- 38:14seem a certain way. Everybody knows what everybody else is doing, so they
- 38:17looking at it through that less and unless That's why I appreciate the way we
- 38:23moving into music, Like we just really lacking them with fans, you know
- 38:27what I mean, It really could like they really could care less what's going
- 38:30on with the trends or whatever this is. And that like when you see
- 38:34the playlist they put in our music and you know that you want to sound
- 38:37for real, you know what I'm saying, Like they throw on your music
- 38:40and with classics, you know what I'm saying. You see them Spotify playlists
- 38:44and you see where people are placing you, you know, in their their
- 38:47top artists and stuff like that, and you know, like Bro, I'm
- 38:51onto something, you know what I mean, Like, regardless of what everybody
- 38:54thinks is hot or what the vibe is right now, Like, this is
- 38:58the kind of stuff that people are going to listen to for the rest of
- 39:00their life, you know what I mean. Fact, And I mean it's
- 39:04the proof is where it needs to be. Bro. We ain't dropping music,
- 39:07you know what I'm saying, And we still got people listening to the
- 39:10stuff that we've been putting out years ago, you know, like thousands of
- 39:15people, like literally thousands of people, you know what I mean. I
- 39:17can't even remember what was on the radio two years ago sometimes, you know
- 39:21what I mean? Yeah, Facts, people adding the old songs to their
- 39:24playlist every day just because it's good music. Bro. And if you're just
- 39:28a fan of music and you come across some dope music, you're just gonna
- 39:30like it. That's why everybody always feels like I got a weird playlist when
- 39:34it comes to music, And I don't even feel like it's weird. I
- 39:36just like good music, like music exactly. I mean most of the time
- 39:39when somebody hears something weird from my playlist're like, yo, what is this?
- 39:42And they want to know what it is because they want to add it
- 39:44to they library, because I ain't never heard of it, you know what
- 39:45I mean? Right? Facts man? But yeah, man, were on
