- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, friend.
- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to Bible Tract Echoes.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: I want to thank you so much for taking your time and joining me right here on the program.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to give you a call to action Lord willing if I can recall, you know how my memory can be some time is, but I'm going to give you a call to action at the end of the broadcast.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to tune your ears for, but before we get there, look at Deuteronomy chapter number six.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to look today.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about the household of faith.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think my father-in-law, he has a great little phrase, a way to just kind of make you think about this.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: He says this, do the walls of your home, laugh.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: To the walls of your home laugh, you think about what the walls of your home observe.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: You say, you know, that all phrase if I were a fly on the wall, well imagine that.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine there was a hidden camera crew watching your home.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: Would it be a horror show?
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Would it be terrible to view, would you not want the public to ever?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: ever, for that film to see a lot of day, or would it be something of a drama, would it be something where it's a constant source of edge of your seat, got a tune in next episode, because you never know what crazy things are going to come know, it shouldn't be that either.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying it should be a comedy either.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: Shouldn't be a tragedy, shouldn't be a drama, maybe shouldn't be so much a comedy.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I wonder, is there joy in your home?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about modeling faith in the home.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to take as our scripture due to our only chapter number six.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to begin reading in verse number one, the Bible says this, now these are the commandments, the statutes and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: that you might do them in the land whether you go to possess it.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I commanded thee, thou, and thy son, and thy sons, son.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: See that multi-generational ministry happening there?
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: All the days of thy life, he continues.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: And that thy days may be prolonged.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: Then it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: As the Lord God of thy fathers had promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Here, O Israel, the Lord your God is one God, and now shall bell the Lord that God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might, that's probably a familiar passage something you've heard before.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: in these words, which I command thee this day shall be in thine heart, and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and thou shalt talk of them when thou sitest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou lie astound, and when thou riseest up.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: I ask your friend, would the walls of your house laugh?
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: If we're talking about modeling faith in the home, we can't instantly assume that it's daddy's fault or it's mama's fault or it's the kids' fault.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: If things are not as they should be, it's me, it's me, it's me, oh Lord, standing in the need of prayer.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: This passage that we just read, a scripture, of course it emphasizes the importance of
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's about making faith this house hold a faith a natural and organic part of daily life, showing that investment in the next generation.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: Start at home.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: is the household of faith, a moniker, a nickname, something that could ever be applied, ascribed to your home.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not asking if you have eight children.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not asking if your quiver is full.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: You could be single.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: You could be a single mother.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: You could be by yourself, just literally just you, could be a small home.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe just husband and wife.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever it may be, I ask you, do you have a household of faith?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: And if you do have anyone else in your home, younger, older, mother, father, children, and uncles, maybe you have a very multi-generational home life, regardless, do you model faith in your home?
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder, as we look at this concept of the household of faith, how often we look to someone else, to bear the load, to shoulder this burden, and then we don't act, but we react.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: When someone else is angry, what do we do?
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: We so often we mirror them.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: We do one of two things.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: We either mirror them and get angry or a self or we cower.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: If someone's happy, sometimes we'll be happy too.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: We'll mirror them or we'll jump the other way and decide to ruin everyone's day.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that's not what we do, but so often we mirror the emotions of other people.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: And we want to wait for someone else to be the spiritual one.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: We wait to say, I'm sorry, until someone else has said it.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: I ask.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: is your home, a house, all of faith.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: And more convictingly, if you were the litmus test, if everyone was just like you, or of course it's easy to say, oh, if I was like me, this life would be perfect.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone would be, no, you know that's not the case, don't you?
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: If everyone was just like you, if everyone had your temper, man, I'm not trying to change you, I'm not trying to make you know something you're not,
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think God created you just the way you are, but we make excuses often for things that we know we can and even should change, and yet do nothing about it.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Are you living in a household of faith?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: You say, but I'm likely you have no idea what goes on this household.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: You have no idea the literal danger I'm in.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: You have no idea that the terror I live through, and you are exactly right.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: I can't tell you I understand, but I know a God who does.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: I know a God who the Psalms ascribe as a shield, as a mighty fortress, as a high place,
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't lived your life, but friend, you also haven't lived mine.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know the low spots in the road, and behind me, nor do I know your horse.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: But I know a God who is all together lovely.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: I know the rows of share and the balm of Gilead, Jehovah.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: I know one who supplies our every need.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's also not just a quarter master supplying the need.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's also a warrior.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's a pilot of my boat.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope he is of yours as well.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you're listening right now and you say, I'm not in a household of faith and maybe it's because I've been less than Christian, less than Christ, like maybe this is a moment to take a few moments and talk to God about that, maybe there are some things you could change, maybe there are some things you could amend, maybe there are some forgiveness as you need
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: Let's take a moment and do that.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: But maybe you're listing right now and you'd say, I'm not living a household of faith because I'm not in the household of faith.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saved.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: If I were to die today, I don't know where I would go.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you're listening right now, it's wonderful that you can be that honest.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: If you can't be honest, right now, then when can you be?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I ask you this question, if you'd say, I don't know for sure, you're willing to admit that for yourself, whether you've grown up in church or not, you'd say, all of these things you're talking about, they sound lovely, but I'll never be able to scratch the surface because I'd be doing it alone.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you'd like to rectify that today.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: You can do so very simply.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: You must understand that we are all sinners.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: When we look at our home, it's easy to see sometimes, isn't it?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: We can so easily observe how our temper, where we can put on the facade, we can put on a fake face for other people, but in the home comes roaring to the top bubbling over sometimes, doesn't it?
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: But then we must understand that because of that, there's a penalty.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: We're not perfect.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: None of us is.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a penalty for that.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: What the Bible calls sin, those wrongdoings, the bad attitude, all of those things.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: There's a penalty for the Bible says that the wages of sin is death.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: The payment for sin is not just death, not just our heart stopping and our lungs not working.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: It means going to a place called hell.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: A place that originally, it was created for the devil, not for you and me, but we will go there if we don't accept this fact that we are all sinners, that there's a penalty for us sin, and then this, the good news, Jesus Christ, paid the penalty for you and for me.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: You want to be a part of the household of faith, the family of God, there's no better decision you could ever make, but you must realize that Jesus paid the penalty.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: But God commendeth His love toward us the Bible says.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: But God commendeth His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, He shed His blood.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: He invited us into his family.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: But this is the sticking point for a lot of people.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: They say, well, I'm mostly a good person.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: They can't get people sometimes just can't get help us enough.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: But maybe you're there right now.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: You'd say, I know I'm not perfect.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: This weight of sin, the weight of difficulties, the family pressures, the crushing down on me.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: I can't fix it myself.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I'm listening to you.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: I know I'm a sinner.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: I know there's a penalty.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: I know Jesus died for me.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: So what do I do now?
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: will you have come to a great spot?
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: You must accept the free gift of salvation.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to turn over my Bible right now to the book of Romans.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to read just a few verses for you.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to miss quote them at all.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to hear precisely what the Bible says.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Romans chapter 10, the Bible says this.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: Romans chapter 10, verse 9, that at thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: And shall believe in that heart that God at the raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: Then it continues on a verse number 13.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: For who, so ever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, friend, right now you could pray a simple prayer like this with me.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: You could do this right now.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: Dear God, I know I'm a sinner.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: I know I can't be perfect enough to get to heaven.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: I never could be, but I want to be saved.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to go to hell.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to suffer that penalty.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: Please, God save me today.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Please take me to heaven when I die.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: I want you as my Savior.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm putting away everything else I'm trusting in, and I accept you.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you prayed a prayer like that today, and friend, you believed in your heart and you said those words you believe it, and friend the Bible says you're on your way to heaven.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to hear from you.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: This is the call to action that I was talking about at the beginning of the broadcast if you did that today, or maybe your creation you have questions about this household of faith.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Question a comment a critique even I'd love to hear from you.
