- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to Jacks Zermline, Kinai, Stevens, Brian Sext and John
- 0:18Speaker 1: Osier with me today as we get ready for wild
- 0:21Speaker 1: Card weekend. It's a playoff edition of the show and
- 0:23Speaker 1: we're very excited to get things going and talk about
- 0:25Speaker 1: that Buffalo Bills matchup on Sunday. Let's go over our
- 0:27Speaker 1: big things for you today, brought to you by GEHKA
- 0:29Speaker 1: Government Employees Health Association benefits for federal employees and retirees.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Big thing Number one is gonna be be a bully.
- 0:36Speaker 1: We talk a lot about this team going out and
- 0:38Speaker 1: being physical as the line of scrimmage and elsewhere on
- 0:41Speaker 1: the football field, and not being intimidated in a game
- 0:43Speaker 1: where the Bills are very familiar with playoffs as of recently.
- 0:46Speaker 1: But Traves CPM talked a little bit about not letting
- 0:49Speaker 1: the game be bigger than what it is.
- 0:51Speaker 2: You just can't make it bigger than what it is.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I feel like some guys who haven't been in this
- 0:56Speaker 2: position might get to there and just kind of just
- 0:59Speaker 2: confue that anxiety with nervousness when you're just really excited
- 1:03Speaker 2: to just do something you love, you know, and like
- 1:05Speaker 2: just have the opportunity to just be in a pontime game.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Haven't everybody know what the whole football He's gonna be
- 1:11Speaker 2: watching this, So I feel like it will be very exciting.
- 1:13Speaker 2: So now we get opportunity to chances people who haven't
- 1:16Speaker 2: been seeing us, We get to show them who we are.
- 1:19Speaker 2: And so I feel like it just people confuse that
- 1:22Speaker 2: the anxiety for nervous is when they really decided for
- 1:25Speaker 2: the moment.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Right. I think the whole city's buzzing right now about
- 1:28Speaker 1: this game. And they haven't been in the playoffs the
- 1:31Speaker 1: past couple of years, but a lot of these players
- 1:33Speaker 1: remember that twenty twenty two game and that feeling. And
- 1:36Speaker 1: what I found interesting this time around is they won
- 1:38Speaker 1: the division, but it felt like, Okay, now, what's the
- 1:40Speaker 1: next thing. It wasn't just we're happy to be here.
- 1:42Speaker 1: There's definitely some experience there and some understanding that this
- 1:45Speaker 1: isn't the accomplishment. Continuing is the accomplishment.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Say with me, Kai, these Jaguars aren't those jaguars. There's
- 1:52Speaker 3: a completely different mentality in that locker room. And I
- 1:55Speaker 3: think the guy that we just heard from is going
- 1:57Speaker 3: to have a huge role in this team winning. On Sunday,
- 2:01Speaker 3: you see the sweat on his forehead that was a
- 2:03Speaker 3: sixty degree day in shorts and T shirts. The work
- 2:06Speaker 3: they got done, the energy with which they're approaching this
- 2:10Speaker 3: game is greater than the anxiety that some other teams
- 2:13Speaker 3: may have for playing in a big game like this.
- 2:16Speaker 3: And by the way, the biggest bully on the Jaguars
- 2:19Speaker 3: right now, the guy who has the biggest impact in
- 2:22Speaker 3: this game is going to be Devon Hamilton. Johnny's killing
- 2:25Speaker 3: people inside playing at such a high level. You want physical,
- 2:28Speaker 3: you want bully, you want disruptive. Devon Hamilton and Travis
- 2:32Speaker 3: etn are two of the most important players that will
- 2:34Speaker 3: play on Sunday.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 5: I think a couple of things.
- 2:38Speaker 4: I think people nationally because they see Trevor Lawrence, he's
- 2:44Speaker 4: the only people I'm sure he's the only thing people
- 2:46Speaker 4: talk about nationally. They see the hair, they see the touchdowns,
- 2:49Speaker 4: and they think, oh, this is a team that's high power,
- 2:53Speaker 4: this is a team that beats me. It's at its core,
- 2:57Speaker 4: this is a physical team that has gotten much more
- 3:00Speaker 4: better because he is ascended. And I do think even
- 3:03Speaker 4: some Jaguars fans and even some media are used to
- 3:06Speaker 4: this team sort of in twenty two. They got in
- 3:09Speaker 4: with a late playoff run. They kind of snuck in.
- 3:12Speaker 4: They came back on teams. This team, I liked the
- 3:17Speaker 4: headline on this segment, be the bully. This team is
- 3:19Speaker 4: far more a team that, Hey, we've been here, we
- 3:23Speaker 4: deserve to be here. We're gonna beat teams that try
- 3:25Speaker 4: to beat us. They're not trying to upset people.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Guy now, just trying to be a bully when you
- 3:30Speaker 1: have to be. Our second big thing today is gonna
- 3:32Speaker 1: be one verse one. Talked a ton about the Jaguars
- 3:36Speaker 1: run stop defense so far this season, but they're facing
- 3:39Speaker 1: off against James Cook, You're leading rusher in the league,
- 3:41Speaker 1: so it's gonna be one verse one. Devin really talked
- 3:43Speaker 1: about what they have to do on defense.
- 3:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, anytime the quarterback is a runner that
- 3:48Speaker 6: presents challenges to the defense, whether it's design quarterback runs,
- 3:51Speaker 6: a quarterback scrambles, so I'm gotta have a good plan. Obviously,
- 3:54Speaker 6: I'm gotta have good rush lanes when he does scramble.
- 3:56Speaker 6: And then the quarterback design runs obviously pulling a guy
- 4:01Speaker 6: out the box. So they just gained an additional gap.
- 4:03Speaker 6: So guys got to strike blucks get off blucks and
- 4:06Speaker 6: make place well.
- 4:08Speaker 1: James Coush is a focus, but also Josh Allen can
- 4:10Speaker 1: run a little bit too. John And we know this
- 4:13Speaker 1: team has dealt with some quarterbacks rushing, so they're gonna
- 4:15Speaker 1: have to be very focused and kind of keep containment
- 4:18Speaker 1: as well as focusing on James Cook.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I think with both Cook and Allen, this is
- 4:23Speaker 4: a game where they're gonna get some of theirs. The
- 4:26Speaker 4: Jaguars about eighty five yards a game rushing. No. One
- 4:29Speaker 4: hundred yard rusher. It wouldn't surprise me if Cook pushes
- 4:32Speaker 4: a hundred. They're a really good running team. You can
- 4:35Speaker 4: tell by the way Liam was talking about it. He
- 4:36Speaker 4: really respects how they scheme things. They're hard to stop
- 4:39Speaker 4: the whole game. They're gonna get a driver to where
- 4:42Speaker 4: they're running the ball. I think the key Brian is
- 4:44Speaker 4: gonna be can you get out of that?
- 4:46Speaker 5: Can you stop that? Can you not have that? Dominate
- 4:48Speaker 5: the game?
- 4:49Speaker 4: And then when you have your opportunity to stop these guys,
- 4:52Speaker 4: put them in long yardage, take advantage there and get
- 4:55Speaker 4: off the field.
- 4:55Speaker 5: I think the Bills are gonna score.
- 4:56Speaker 7: I think the Jaguars are gonna score more.
- 4:59Speaker 3: The Bills average twenty eight points per game. They scored
- 5:01Speaker 3: more points in seventeen games than the Jaguars, and so
- 5:04Speaker 3: you know that this is a team that can do
- 5:06Speaker 3: what they want to do on offense. The question is
- 5:08Speaker 3: can you make them shift away from it a little bit?
- 5:11Speaker 3: Can you make them throw the ball more than they
- 5:13Speaker 3: run the ball. Here's why that's important. They are number
- 5:15Speaker 3: one in the league in time of possession, Kay, they're
- 5:17Speaker 3: number one on third down. They shrink the game, they
- 5:20Speaker 3: take possessions away from you. You've got to get them
- 5:23Speaker 3: out of the running game so that you can do
- 5:25Speaker 3: what you want to do. John mentioned the Jaguars will
- 5:28Speaker 3: score because they're one of the best offenses in football.
- 5:31Speaker 3: You're going to have fewer opportunities to be the best
- 5:34Speaker 3: offense in football if your defense can't.
- 5:36Speaker 7: Stop the run.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Let's go to our final big thing today, which is wildcard.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And I think going into this, Josh Allen's fon the
- 5:41Speaker 1: focus for both sides of this, and that's because he
- 5:44Speaker 1: can be the wildcard.
- 5:45Speaker 5: He can win a football game for a team.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Brian, this isn't the same Bills we've seen of past years,
- 5:51Speaker 1: though some different targets. It doesn't look quite the same,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but ken Josh Allen put on his tape.
- 5:56Speaker 5: And leave this game for them.
- 5:57Speaker 7: Yeah, without a doubt.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I mean he is stupendous. To use a word that
- 6:01Speaker 3: I haven't used to describe him this week. I mean,
- 6:04Speaker 3: the guy is he's this massive guy. First of all,
- 6:06Speaker 3: I asked Treyvon Walker yesterday about Josh Allen being bigger
- 6:09Speaker 3: than him, because he is. He's just a massive human being.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Trayvon looked at me, like, you don't think I can
- 6:13Speaker 3: stop him?
- 6:13Speaker 7: Like, no, no, I think you can.
- 6:15Speaker 3: But this guy is just physically a freak. He is
- 6:17Speaker 3: so big and can do so many different things. But
- 6:21Speaker 3: you know you mentioned this is a different Bills team.
- 6:23Speaker 3: And John, I mean, the Bills defense last year was really,
- 6:27Speaker 3: really good.
- 6:28Speaker 7: It's not that good this year.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Their passing game is not the scary down the field
- 6:33Speaker 3: passing game that it has been in years past. They
- 6:35Speaker 3: don't have Stefon Diggs and that speed that takes everyone
- 6:39Speaker 3: away from the line of scrimmage. This is the Josh
- 6:41Speaker 3: Allen And why did I just draw a blank on
- 6:45Speaker 3: the running back James Cook. It's those two guys.
- 6:49Speaker 7: They drive this whole thing.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the answer is yes, that he can lift
- 6:54Speaker 4: a team. And it's an overused phrase these eight everyone's
- 7:00Speaker 4: everybody wants their quarterback to lift the team. He's one
- 7:02Speaker 4: of the guys who truly can. Again, I think the
- 7:05Speaker 4: key is they're going to score, you have to be
- 7:08Speaker 4: up on them and you have to have sort of
- 7:10Speaker 4: beaten them up a.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Little bit where they don't want to run anymore. They're
- 7:12Speaker 5: not running his effectively.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Get him in long yardage late, because he will throw
- 7:17Speaker 4: you the ball and he will take sacks that put
- 7:20Speaker 4: the team in bad down and distance. You have to
- 7:23Speaker 4: take advantage of the moments where you have the opportunity
- 7:25Speaker 4: to make them look bad.
- 7:26Speaker 3: It's worth mentioning. And I had a player who was
- 7:29Speaker 3: here remind me of this. In twenty twenty one, the
- 7:31Speaker 3: Bills came in off a huge Sunday night win over
- 7:34Speaker 3: Kansas City. In Kansas City against a team with the
- 7:37Speaker 3: rookie quarterback with Urban Meyer as the head coach. They
- 7:40Speaker 3: didn't do anything particularly well and the Jaguars won that
- 7:43Speaker 3: game nine to six, largely because Josh heinz Allen was
- 7:48Speaker 3: a menace to Josh Allen. If Josh heinz Allen has
- 7:52Speaker 3: that same kind of a game then I don't think
- 7:54Speaker 3: Josh Allen will be able to get after it like
- 7:57Speaker 3: he has this season.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Absolutely going to be one of the key Stay with
- 8:00Speaker 1: us here on Jagsama check in with the Bills team
- 8:03Speaker 1: reporter to learn more about what we're gonna see on
- 8:04Speaker 1: Wildcard weekend. Jack Zam brought to you by Field Daughter
- 8:14Speaker 1: Groups The Fields First, Jacksonville's premier luxury auto group.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Go to Field Auto dot Com.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Welcome into another edition of Behind Enemy Lines where I
- 8:22Speaker 1: check in with a media member from the opposing team.
- 8:25Speaker 1: The Jaguars are, of course made it into the playoffs
- 8:27Speaker 1: and they're taking on the Buffalo Bills, So I'm checking
- 8:28Speaker 1: with Maddi Glabb, team reporter for the Bills. My counterpart
- 8:32Speaker 1: Mattie's thank you for joining us, of course, happy to
- 8:35Speaker 1: be here and happy to be in the playoffs. Absolutely
- 8:39Speaker 1: same here, catch us up a little bit. We all
- 8:41Speaker 1: know a ton about Josh Allen all the crazy things
- 8:43Speaker 1: he can do. But what's the season been like as
- 8:45Speaker 1: a whole for you guys. Feels like it's been a
- 8:46Speaker 1: little bit different than years past.
- 8:49Speaker 8: Yeah, it's been an up and down season, definitely a
- 8:52Speaker 8: ride at times. The Bills finished twelve and five in
- 8:54Speaker 8: the regular season, winning five of their last six. So
- 8:58Speaker 8: the second half of the season for team, I think
- 9:01Speaker 8: they've really built their identity who they are. They've been
- 9:04Speaker 8: known for their second half comebacks all season, but I
- 9:07Speaker 8: think have done a fantastic job of putting things together
- 9:10Speaker 8: in the second half of the season, both offensively and defensively.
- 9:14Speaker 8: The Bills have struggled on the road this year though,
- 9:17Speaker 8: five and three record on the road, but winning their
- 9:19Speaker 8: last three games on the road, and you've seen the
- 9:22Speaker 8: offensive production improve on the road to end the regular season.
- 9:26Speaker 8: The defense has been pretty strong on the road all year,
- 9:29Speaker 8: so it'll be interesting to see if the defense can
- 9:32Speaker 8: travel in the playoffs as well. But yeah, like you said,
- 9:35Speaker 8: it's been an interesting season with the Bills. Josh Allen
- 9:38Speaker 8: coming off of that MVP campaign and he's shown how
- 9:41Speaker 8: he's grown in several areas this year. But the offense
- 9:44Speaker 8: as a whole, his looks a little bit different. It's
- 9:46Speaker 8: been James Cook running the show. You're rushing title leader,
- 9:52Speaker 8: and the offensive line helping set things up. So that's
- 9:55Speaker 8: kind of been the engine of the offense this year.
- 9:58Speaker 8: Is that rushing attack, which I I know we're going
- 10:00Speaker 8: to talk more about, because the Jaguars have the best
- 10:02Speaker 8: to run defense, but it's been James Cook and Josh Allen,
- 10:06Speaker 8: and Josh Allen has had a wide variety of guys
- 10:09Speaker 8: to throw the ball to. There hasn't been that number
- 10:11Speaker 8: one receiver, which helps when it comes to going up
- 10:15Speaker 8: against different defenses because you're not sure who's going to
- 10:18Speaker 8: be catching the ball in any given game.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Absolutely, let's talk a little bit about James Cook.
- 10:23Speaker 5: You mentioned him.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Jaguars have the best run defense. They haven't allowed a
- 10:26Speaker 1: seventy five yard rusher so far this season, something they've
- 10:29Speaker 1: been hanging their hat on. But what I think is
- 10:31Speaker 1: unique about the Bills, of course, is James Cook is
- 10:33Speaker 1: having an amazing season, but Josh Allen can also get
- 10:35Speaker 1: out and run if he needs to. And I think
- 10:37Speaker 1: does you feel like that dynamic has helped the offense
- 10:40Speaker 1: be successful this season?
- 10:42Speaker 8: Definitely. The Bills lead the league in total rushing yards
- 10:46Speaker 8: and James Cook and Josh Allen made up for two
- 10:50Speaker 8: two hundred of those yards, which is eighty one percent
- 10:53Speaker 8: of the total number. So those two together, Yes, James
- 10:56Speaker 8: Cook has had a heavy dose of that, going six
- 10:59Speaker 8: twenty one on the grid throughout the whole year, But
- 11:01Speaker 8: you can't forget about Josh Allen, and I think the
- 11:04Speaker 8: pair of those two together is really what makes this offense,
- 11:09Speaker 8: I should say, hard to defend when it comes to
- 11:11Speaker 8: going up against defenses because you have James Cook who
- 11:15Speaker 8: has turned into this fantastic running back, and not just
- 11:18Speaker 8: in doing the same thing over and over again. He's
- 11:21Speaker 8: really good at read and reading and reacting to what's
- 11:24Speaker 8: happening on the field. His offensive line in him are
- 11:28Speaker 8: best friends on the field. They do a fantastic job
- 11:31Speaker 8: of communicating and finding out where those open spots are
- 11:34Speaker 8: gonna be on the field. But then if you're gonna
- 11:37Speaker 8: stack the box against the Bills because they're running the football,
- 11:42Speaker 8: Josh Allen can go in the air. And if then
- 11:44Speaker 8: you're gonna drop some guys back, then Josh Allen can
- 11:47Speaker 8: take it himself. So in any way that a defense
- 11:51Speaker 8: presents itself, I think Buffalo can find answers whether be
- 11:54Speaker 8: on the ground or in the air, and Josh Allen
- 11:57Speaker 8: certainly can.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Do both very well. The Jags defense has a lot
- 12:00Speaker 1: to plan for with you guys, and I know when
- 12:03Speaker 1: you said there's tons of weapons, you don't necessarily know
- 12:05Speaker 1: there's a go to place. The Jaguars have had trouble
- 12:08Speaker 1: with tight ends, and you guys have two of them
- 12:09Speaker 1: that are very talented, Dalton Kinkaid. What do they bring
- 12:15Speaker 1: to the offense. What kind of dynamic plays can they
- 12:18Speaker 1: make to kind of open things up as well?
- 12:21Speaker 8: Dawson Knox and don Kin Kaid this season have been
- 12:24Speaker 8: sharing duties because don Kin Kid has not been in
- 12:27Speaker 8: the lineup every single game. He missed Week seventeen with
- 12:31Speaker 8: a knee injury, was actually limited in practice on Wednesday
- 12:34Speaker 8: with that knee injury. Played in Week eighteen, now not
- 12:37Speaker 8: the full game, but got some good reps in there.
- 12:40Speaker 8: I think the coaching staff just wanted to see how
- 12:42Speaker 8: he was doing and how he could hold.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Up for the playoffs.
- 12:45Speaker 8: But when dal Kin Kaid or Dawson Knox is on
- 12:48Speaker 8: the field, I think it presents challenges to a defense
- 12:52Speaker 8: because defending a tight end is hard. You have to
- 12:55Speaker 8: figure out who am I going to put on the
- 12:56Speaker 8: field to go up against this tall, burly man and
- 13:00Speaker 8: figure out, you know, who's going to run with somebody
- 13:04Speaker 8: like this because they have the height, they have the size.
- 13:07Speaker 8: You have to be particular in how you're going to
- 13:10Speaker 8: do that, and donkin Kaid has been fantastic at burning
- 13:13Speaker 8: defenses when he's on the field this year. He has
- 13:16Speaker 8: a one forty nine passer rating when targeted that leads
- 13:19Speaker 8: tight ends in the NFL this season. Him and Josh
- 13:22Speaker 8: Allen have a great rapport with each other. The issue
- 13:26Speaker 8: this season for Kincaid has been the consistency he's been
- 13:29Speaker 8: on and off the field due to injury. Seems to
- 13:31Speaker 8: be in an okay place right now, especially just being
- 13:34Speaker 8: limited to start the practice week. We'll see how he
- 13:36Speaker 8: goes on and practices throughout the rest of the week.
- 13:39Speaker 8: But in his place, Knox has really stepped up this season.
- 13:42Speaker 8: He's been targeted a lot more in the second half
- 13:45Speaker 8: of the season, and he's answered with some big games
- 13:48Speaker 8: in terms of catching the ball in some big games.
- 13:50Speaker 8: In terms of scoring the ball, I think when you're
- 13:52Speaker 8: targeting the tight ends in a red zone, it's an
- 13:55Speaker 8: absolute mismatch because you're throwing the ball into tight windows
- 14:00Speaker 8: and tight ends have that size, which is definitely an
- 14:02Speaker 8: advantage for Buffalo's offense for sure.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I know you guys have been very successful on third downs.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I'm sure that's part of it. Let's talk a little
- 14:09Speaker 1: Bills defense. The Jaguars have really kind of come into
- 14:12Speaker 1: their own with Trevor Lawrence's play the last two months
- 14:14Speaker 1: or so in the past game specifically, but today head
- 14:18Speaker 1: coach Liam Cohen and the Jaguars was very complimentary the
- 14:20Speaker 1: Bills pass defense and kind of what they've been able
- 14:23Speaker 1: to do. What's some of the strengths of the secondary
- 14:26Speaker 1: you've seen.
- 14:27Speaker 8: Yeah, secondary finishes as the best in the league, allowing
- 14:31Speaker 8: under one hundred and sixty passing yards per game, and
- 14:33Speaker 8: that's something the secondary really hangs their hat on, is
- 14:36Speaker 8: proud to go into the postseason putting up numbers like
- 14:40Speaker 8: that throughout the season. I think what's happened, and again
- 14:43Speaker 8: I go back to the second half of the season,
- 14:44Speaker 8: because that's really when the defense started to put it together.
- 14:47Speaker 8: They started to play a lot more physical, a lot
- 14:50Speaker 8: more nasty, forcing more takeaways. Since Week twelve their top
- 14:54Speaker 8: ten in takeaways with fifteen, and a lot of that
- 14:57Speaker 8: is because the Russian coverage has started to work to together.
- 15:00Speaker 8: Our head coach Sean McDermott has talked about spinning the dial,
- 15:03Speaker 8: throwing different coverages at an offense throughout the game to
- 15:07Speaker 8: kind of confuse quarterbacks. You've seen corners being sent on
- 15:11Speaker 8: more blitzes and it paying off in terms of pass
- 15:13Speaker 8: deflections that have been gone for interceptions. So I think
- 15:18Speaker 8: that is kind of the foundation of why they've played
- 15:21Speaker 8: so well in the second half of the season. But
- 15:23Speaker 8: you have a great cornerback in Christian Benford and another
- 15:27Speaker 8: one in Tredevius White, who have been playing some really
- 15:30Speaker 8: great football down the stretch, really limiting teams receivers in
- 15:34Speaker 8: terms of yards allowed and passer rating allowed, those numbers
- 15:37Speaker 8: have been very low. And then on the back end,
- 15:40Speaker 8: you have two safeties in Jordan Poyer who's a thirteen
- 15:43Speaker 8: year safety and then Cole Bishop, who's a second year
- 15:46Speaker 8: safety that's really been learning this year. But once those
- 15:48Speaker 8: two got on the field together, you saw Bishops kind
- 15:51Speaker 8: of iq and the way he's played has gone to
- 15:55Speaker 8: another level. You've seen him played a lot more fierce,
- 15:58Speaker 8: a lot more nasty, and he's been up there at
- 16:00Speaker 8: the line of scrimmage at times making plays. So I
- 16:03Speaker 8: think they've just been on the field long enough together
- 16:06Speaker 8: at this point in the season where they seem like
- 16:09Speaker 8: a very cohesive unit. They're communicating well, and that's turned
- 16:13Speaker 8: into really limiting opponents when it comes to the passing attack.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Very cool. I feel like we covered a lot. Do
- 16:18Speaker 1: you have an X factor player on maybe offense and defense?
- 16:22Speaker 1: You feel like we'll need to both have good games
- 16:24Speaker 1: if the Bills want to get a win.
- 16:27Speaker 8: We already talked about the offensive player. I'm looking at
- 16:30Speaker 8: Don Kinkaid. Buffalo's offense is a different offense when he
- 16:33Speaker 8: is healthy and on the field. I think he just
- 16:36Speaker 8: adds a different wrinkle to everything. He's another player you
- 16:39Speaker 8: have to worry about. He's another player you have to
- 16:42Speaker 8: steam for because when he's on the field, he's going
- 16:44Speaker 8: to make plays. It's already hard to defend Josh Allen
- 16:47Speaker 8: and James Cook, but throw Dnt Kincaid in there. That
- 16:50Speaker 8: gets even harder and you kind of have to commit
- 16:52Speaker 8: to one thing. And Buffalo has been able to beat
- 16:55Speaker 8: teams when they decide to commit to one thing because
- 16:57Speaker 8: they have a couple other things they can throw out
- 16:59Speaker 8: a defense. In terms of what Buffalo's defense has to do,
- 17:03Speaker 8: I don't think it's one player, but I really think
- 17:05Speaker 8: it's the pass rush. Getting to Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars
- 17:09Speaker 8: have been fantastic during their win streak at scoring and
- 17:13Speaker 8: outscoring opponents by like an average of nineteen points per game,
- 17:16Speaker 8: which is such a big number in the league.
- 17:19Speaker 1: You see so many games that are.
- 17:21Speaker 8: One possession games, and it seems like, you know, down
- 17:24Speaker 8: the stretch for the Jaguars, they've just been blowing teams out.
- 17:27Speaker 8: I think a lot of it we hear from our
- 17:29Speaker 8: head coach. A lot of it starts in the trenches,
- 17:31Speaker 8: and on defense, it starts with a pass rush. So
- 17:33Speaker 8: I think it's those guys upfront playing together and not
- 17:37Speaker 8: being afraid to rush the passer and making sure they're
- 17:40Speaker 8: communicating with a back end. I think if they can
- 17:43Speaker 8: do that and kind of tee off a little bit
- 17:45Speaker 8: in the beginning of the game, they might be able
- 17:47Speaker 8: to find ways and find opportunities to get some takeaways,
- 17:51Speaker 8: which I know the Jaguars all season have done a
- 17:53Speaker 8: really good job at taking care of the football and
- 17:55Speaker 8: then forcing takeaways on the other.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Side, very good. I think it's gonna be a good
- 17:59Speaker 1: matchup for wild Card weekend. Maddy, I will see you
- 18:01Speaker 1: on Sunday and Bill's Mafia here in Jacksonville. That was
- 18:03Speaker 1: Matty Glad Bill's team reporters. Stay with us here on Jagza.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I'm coming up after the break. We'll tell you what
- 18:07Speaker 1: we think the headlines are going to be on Monday morning,
- 18:11Speaker 1: I was moving as is a floor's most trusted and
- 18:14Speaker 1: dependable moving company, so as proud to be the official
- 18:16Speaker 1: moving company of the Jacksonville Jaguars to get a guaranteed
- 18:18Speaker 1: quote VI is it Setith dot com slash Jacksonville.
- 18:24Speaker 5: I'm welcome to this future.
- 18:25Speaker 7: We're going to do our.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Best to predict what we will be talking about on
- 18:28Speaker 1: Monday morning after wild Card weekend, Ryan, what do you
- 18:32Speaker 1: think is gonna go down on Sunday?
- 18:33Speaker 3: I think on Monday people will finally believe that these
- 18:37Speaker 3: Jaguars aren't those Jaguars. As I listened to Liam Cohen
- 18:40Speaker 3: postgame Monday Wednesday, as I talked to his assistant coaches yesterday,
- 18:45Speaker 3: for instance, Shane Waldron, and I listened to the way
- 18:48Speaker 3: that they all talk in unison, and they all have
- 18:50Speaker 3: the same high standard for what they expect on the
- 18:54Speaker 3: practice field translating to the game field.
- 18:56Speaker 7: I didn't these games are built for this.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Liam was part of last year's great run by the Buccaneers,
- 19:04Speaker 3: and before that, you know the great run that the
- 19:07Speaker 3: championship Rams have had, and a lot of these guys
- 19:10Speaker 3: have been put together because of their expectations and their experience,
- 19:15Speaker 3: and John, just the more I listen watch, the more
- 19:19Speaker 3: I learn that they're built for this moment right now.
- 19:22Speaker 7: Thirteen to four is great.
- 19:23Speaker 3: They transitioned the Jaguars from a team that didn't win
- 19:26Speaker 3: to a team that does win, and now the playoffs
- 19:29Speaker 3: are the ultimate test of that. And I think on
- 19:31Speaker 3: Monday morning, people will be excited about the future, not
- 19:34Speaker 3: just January into February, but the long term future because
- 19:38Speaker 3: Liam Cohen is built for this moment.
- 19:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they're a good team that's going to
- 19:43Speaker 5: be a good team for a long time. I agree
- 19:46Speaker 5: with you, and sort of blends into what I said earlier.
- 19:49Speaker 4: There's this because they're in the playoffs and for the
- 19:53Speaker 4: first time in a couple of years, because they had
- 19:55Speaker 4: this big turnaround. It's like people are looking at this
- 19:59Speaker 4: team as it's like the little engine that could. You know, Hey,
- 20:02Speaker 4: we're gonna we're rudy, We're gonna punch up. And I
- 20:06Speaker 4: think this team feels like it's punching down and I
- 20:08Speaker 4: think they feel like they're the best team going in
- 20:10Speaker 4: they're not bragging about it, They're not, you know, guaranteeing anything,
- 20:15Speaker 4: But I think internally they have a lot of confidence of, Hey,
- 20:18Speaker 4: we're you know, we're supposed to be here. We're gonna
- 20:20Speaker 4: win this thing. We just went out and beat the
- 20:21Speaker 4: number one seat on the road. But why shouldn't we
- 20:23Speaker 4: believe we're the best team.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Apologize when I say built for this, they're not even
- 20:28Speaker 3: quite built for this yet. I mean the things they're
- 20:30Speaker 3: going to do with this roster after they've had a
- 20:32Speaker 3: year with it to decide, you know, who belongs here,
- 20:35Speaker 3: what else they need here, what this roster will be
- 20:38Speaker 3: in another season or two as they continue to build it,
- 20:41Speaker 3: I think is even more exciting.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I couldn't read more.
- 20:44Speaker 4: It's I went with one and on and it's a
- 20:47Speaker 4: boring headline for a reason, because I think this will
- 20:53Speaker 4: feel like a methodical victory. I think they're gonna win,
- 20:56Speaker 4: and by methodical, I don't mean like seventeen to fourteen.
- 21:00Speaker 5: I think it's gonna be a high scoring game.
- 21:01Speaker 4: But then once they win it, and I do think
- 21:04Speaker 4: they will, I think the players are gonna all say afterward,
- 21:07Speaker 4: we like, don't treat this like an upset again. We're
- 21:12Speaker 4: not rudy, We're not punching up. I think it's gonna
- 21:14Speaker 4: feel very okay. We want let's let's figure out what's next.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Are we going to New England?
- 21:19Speaker 7: Are we going you know?
- 21:20Speaker 5: Are we going here? I think that will be the
- 21:24Speaker 5: tone of the day once they win this game, and
- 21:27Speaker 5: I do think they will win it, but I don't
- 21:29Speaker 5: think it'll be easy.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I'm going with for mine focusing on I think the
- 21:34Speaker 1: matchup we've all been talking a little bit about, which
- 21:36Speaker 1: is James Cook the number one rusher against the Daguars defense,
- 21:39Speaker 1: which is the number one run stopping defense, and with
- 21:42Speaker 1: what's cooking? Because I think I think there's a chance
- 21:46Speaker 1: that this can be what normally when we talk about
- 21:50Speaker 1: matchups sometimes that doesn't end up being the focus. I
- 21:52Speaker 1: do feel like this will be the focus. Whether James
- 21:55Speaker 1: Cook can get going, he might get some he might
- 21:57Speaker 1: finally break that seventy five yard mark that they've been
- 22:00Speaker 1: really excited about. But I think there's an opportunity for
- 22:03Speaker 1: Devon Hamilton and Eric arms Staid, who's been having phenomenal years.
- 22:06Speaker 1: It might as well quote Josh heinz Allen and say,
- 22:09Speaker 1: guess nose tackle in the game. According to him, Devon
- 22:11Speaker 1: Hamilton has been playing amazing and there's the Bill's offensive
- 22:15Speaker 1: line is obviously tremendous. They've you don't have the leading
- 22:18Speaker 1: rusher without having a great offensive line. But I think
- 22:21Speaker 1: there's some spots in the interior offensive line. Gators fans
- 22:25Speaker 1: Noahsi restorants there's an ability there. I think with the
- 22:28Speaker 1: athleticism of Eric Arms said that we've seen this season
- 22:31Speaker 1: going back to his natural position, also lining Trayvon Walker
- 22:33Speaker 1: up on the inside at times, I think there's some
- 22:36Speaker 1: positioning in there where they can take advantage of and
- 22:39Speaker 1: get after the quarterback and the running back in the backfield.
- 22:42Speaker 1: And I think that's gonna be something maybe people don't
- 22:44Speaker 1: expect and we have seen in the past few weeks,
- 22:48Speaker 1: but I think that might be a surprise to some
- 22:50Speaker 1: other teams.
- 22:50Speaker 5: Sit the edges on this game.
- 22:51Speaker 7: It's gonna be very important.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Uh the Bills run well inside, that also run well outside.
- 22:56Speaker 4: One thing that I I it doesn't get noticed cause
- 22:59Speaker 4: it's not a very sexy thing.
- 23:00Speaker 5: To talk about.
- 23:00Speaker 4: The Jaguars cornerbacks they tackle well on the edge. It's
- 23:05Speaker 4: going to be a game where the Jaguars linebackers. You
- 23:08Speaker 4: have to play with great discipline against the Bills. It's
- 23:11Speaker 4: about filling the gaps you're supposed to be in. James
- 23:14Speaker 4: Cook is a guy that if you let one outside,
- 23:17Speaker 4: he's standing in the end zone. So it's a high
- 23:19Speaker 4: pressure game for the Jarras. But they're a good tackling
- 23:22Speaker 4: team and they play well as a unit. I think
- 23:24Speaker 4: that bodes well against this team.
- 23:26Speaker 3: And since you mentioned Trayvon, had a long conversation with
- 23:28Speaker 3: him yesterday and I told you earlier about the look
- 23:30Speaker 3: he gave me when I said, how do you take
- 23:32Speaker 3: a guy a quarterback that's that big?
- 23:34Speaker 7: It kind of looked at me like what.
- 23:36Speaker 3: But I asking about James Cook because James played with
- 23:39Speaker 3: him of Georgia, and I expected that we just do
- 23:43Speaker 3: what we do because that's what most.
- 23:45Speaker 7: Of them do. But this was a number one run defense.
- 23:49Speaker 3: And when he said that, we just play our game,
- 23:52Speaker 3: and when we play our game the way we play
- 23:55Speaker 3: run defense, we stop everybody.
- 23:57Speaker 7: And that's been the case this year. They've stopped everybody.
- 23:59Speaker 3: The only guy who had any semblance of a good
- 24:01Speaker 3: day against them was Jonathan Taylor, and he had seventy
- 24:05Speaker 3: and seventy four yards. So when tray Vine said we
- 24:07Speaker 3: just have to do what we do, it had kind
- 24:09Speaker 3: of a different tone, a different ring to it than
- 24:12Speaker 3: in previous conversations.
- 24:14Speaker 1: All right, say with some jagsam, We'll be right back
- 24:15Speaker 1: after the break. Jags fans, if you want customized Jaguars
- 24:24Speaker 1: furniture for your home, check out zipchare dot com to
- 24:26Speaker 1: rouse all the customizable options. Zip Chair is furniture for fans.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And this weekend's wild Card game is brought to you
- 24:31Speaker 1: by dailies.
- 24:32Speaker 5: It's nicer here.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Everything, guys, is still in front of us.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Or not more.
- 24:52Speaker 7: Sucks down. I think you definitely carry momentum from playing
- 24:56Speaker 7: well for.
- 24:57Speaker 9: Sure, earning to playing meaningful games in November and December. Guys,
- 25:08Speaker 9: we can earn this right.
- 25:10Speaker 6: You can feel that these opportunities get bigger and bigger
- 25:13Speaker 6: leader in the season.
- 25:14Speaker 7: The Jackson and Jaguars, they're not a playoff caliber team.
- 25:16Speaker 7: They're not a playoff calibrity model for seeing them get
- 25:18Speaker 7: to the playoffs.
- 25:19Speaker 5: There's a lot of Oh, you don't even think they're
- 25:21Speaker 5: gonna get it.
- 25:21Speaker 7: I don't think they're gonna get it. They're just an
- 25:23Speaker 7: in the way team. Keep doubting this. I'm gonna show
- 25:26Speaker 7: up every Sunday and you got a players.
- 25:30Speaker 9: Every day to tell me our performance, people, organization, and city.
- 25:36Speaker 2: They've won the division titled one of the greatest seasons
- 25:40Speaker 2: in the history of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 25:47Speaker 7: It feels good for us to earn that as a team.
- 25:49Speaker 7: But there's a lot more for us.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Fly this episode coming up to night at seven, Let's go.
- 25:55Speaker 4: You're ready?
- 25:56Speaker 5: Good twice in football?
- 25:58Speaker 7: All right? Here you go, all ready, And it's so
- 26:02Speaker 7: much fun at this time. I mean, this scene hasn't
- 26:04Speaker 7: lost since November the ninth.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Winning is fun, and you got through the holidays, which
- 26:09Speaker 3: is that fun time of year anyway, with a great
- 26:11Speaker 3: football team.
- 26:12Speaker 7: And now it gets even better because the playoffs start.
- 26:14Speaker 7: Are you right?
- 26:15Speaker 5: I'm ready to listen Jackson's typeout.
- 26:19Speaker 7: Hit some people.
- 26:20Speaker 1: If you haven't got your ticket, out of the way,
- 26:22Speaker 1: no more fighting, more fighting, gentlemen, this is happy time.
- 26:25Speaker 1: If you haven't got your ticket for Sunday, I don't
- 26:27Speaker 1: know how you're gonna get one, but you should try
- 26:28Speaker 1: to get into the stadium some way, somehow, because it's
- 26:30Speaker 1: going to be fun. And I yes, this is my
- 26:33Speaker 1: first playoff game, and well I'm very excited.
- 26:35Speaker 7: Well then maybe what I'm gonna say makes sense.
- 26:37Speaker 3: If you just happen to be driving through a school
- 26:40Speaker 3: zone today on your way, you'll see it down that's limits.
- 26:44Speaker 3: But one of the fun things for me is to
- 26:47Speaker 3: drive by school and see all the kids in their
- 26:50Speaker 3: Jaguars gear.
- 26:51Speaker 7: Right. I mean, it's just everybody all the way.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Down to everybody walking their dogybody else.
- 26:56Speaker 7: It's just it's amazing to see the Jaguars spirit.
- 26:59Speaker 3: And it's why I've said since nineteen ninety four when
- 27:02Speaker 3: it hit me what a great football town this is,
- 27:05Speaker 3: that this can be Green Bay of the South, This
- 27:07Speaker 3: can be title town of the South. We lack a title,
- 27:11Speaker 3: but when this team in this town for all of
- 27:14Speaker 3: the way people look at it and want to disparage
- 27:16Speaker 3: it and it's small and it's Jacksonville, the waffle house
- 27:19Speaker 3: comments from the Super Bowl, from all the New England
- 27:22Speaker 3: media back in two thousand and five, none of it
- 27:24Speaker 3: matters because this team in this town are united and
- 27:27Speaker 3: you get a title. This is Green Bay of the South,
- 27:29Speaker 3: and it becomes it becomes a destination place for people
- 27:33Speaker 3: to come watch Jaguars games.
- 27:35Speaker 5: Oh hate some waffle House.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Now, listen, I'm a convert, and I think most people
- 27:39Speaker 1: and knowing them, just don't understand the beauty of the
- 27:41Speaker 1: waffle house.
- 27:42Speaker 5: I've been converted.
- 27:43Speaker 1: It's a wonderful establishment. And I hope we get to
- 27:45Speaker 1: go on Sunday night.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Yeah, this is I mean, we should do this show
- 27:47Speaker 3: at a waffle house. If they win the Super Bowl.
- 27:49Speaker 3: We're all lokey sponsorship people want to get on this one.
- 27:52Speaker 5: Absolutely. All right, you guys, that's it for us this week.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Enjoy the game.
- 27:56Speaker 1: It's going to be a fun one on Sunday, and
- 27:57Speaker 1: we'll be back on Monday to talk all about hopefully
- 28:00Speaker 1: drag Wars Winds
