- 0:48Speaker 2: Hello?
- 0:49Speaker 3: It's Bridger, host of this podcast. This week's episode is

- 1:38Speaker 3: I'm Bridger Wineger. We're in the backyard I'm here to
- 1:42Speaker 3: protect you. You're safe. Now. The mysterious clicking in my
- 1:48Speaker 3: car ended up being a dry leaf that was kind
- 1:50Speaker 3: of trapped under the windshield wiper, so that was actually
- 1:54Speaker 3: kind of cute. It was obviously not going to get
- 1:57Speaker 3: the car looked at, so that solved itself. Let's get
- 2:01Speaker 3: into the podcast. I adore today's guest. It's Michael Uri. Michael, Hello,
- 2:06Speaker 3: welcome guys. What a pleasure, What an absolute pleasure.
- 2:10Speaker 2: What about the mystery sounds in a car? Oh, very strange.
- 2:13Speaker 3: It was at least two weeks of clicking. Oh, and
- 2:16Speaker 3: I just wasn't going to look into.
- 2:18Speaker 2: It, and it was a leaf all the time, it.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Kind of holding on and clicking, clicking, clicking.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Gosh, you must have survived a couple of rains.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it was like a It was very brittle
- 2:28Speaker 3: by the time I got to it. Wow. But it's
- 2:30Speaker 3: a story of survival.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Ultimately, probably dried out and then got wet again and
- 2:34Speaker 2: then tried out.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Kept thinking of it was going to have a second
- 2:37Speaker 3: chance to escape, and now it's gone. It's a very
- 2:41Speaker 3: holl story. Ultimately.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I've got currently a hangar on one of the hooks
- 2:46Speaker 2: in the back of my car. Oh No, it took
- 2:48Speaker 2: a while for me to remember that it was a hanger.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I kept thinking somebody was I kept thinking somebody was
- 2:53Speaker 2: throwing things at me, Like it sounds like something's falling
- 2:56Speaker 2: on the roof of the car, but it's actually just
- 2:58Speaker 2: a hanger banging the inside.
- 3:01Speaker 3: For you to go there first, to think that someone's
- 3:03Speaker 3: just antagonizing you over, I know, I know, is it
- 3:06Speaker 3: plastic or wire or would.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Be would it's I think that it's gosh, I don't
- 3:11Speaker 2: even know. I haven't even looked back really. Once I
- 3:13Speaker 2: realized what it was, I just but it's still there.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I think it's plastic. It was for a Blazer, So
- 3:18Speaker 2: I'm guessing one of those big plastic.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Right heavy, yeah, because there are the thin plastic that
- 3:24Speaker 3: I almost constantly snap taking them out of things, And.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I get so angry when one of those things snapped.
- 3:29Speaker 2: When you like pull a sweater off and it's snacks awful.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Nothing makes me more angry.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Although that snapping, if you did it on purpose, would
- 3:36Speaker 3: be so satisfying, but it's always just disheartening. Like now
- 3:39Speaker 3: I've got like this thing that kind of still works,
- 3:42Speaker 3: but it'll fit weird into the garbage can, and it's
- 3:44Speaker 3: going to pile up in.
- 3:46Speaker 2: There, absolutely, And I don't need another hook. I've got
- 3:49Speaker 2: plenty of hooks, so the top part is all of us.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I've got nothing, but I'm lousy with hooks.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Now, you told me you almost ran over my neighbor's
- 3:59Speaker 3: dogs on the way own. Yes, I did the same.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yes, And I can't. I can't pass a loose dog
- 4:05Speaker 2: and not stop and check on them. So I got
- 4:09Speaker 2: out and I talked to the dogs for a while.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I knocked on a few doors and I was about
- 4:15Speaker 2: to call the number when another neighbor of yours said
- 4:17Speaker 2: not to bother because she's called the police. Oh boy,
- 4:21Speaker 2: and animal control, I guess, and told that, And they
- 4:24Speaker 2: don't care.
- 4:25Speaker 3: The owners don't care, and animal control doesn't care.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And animals from control, I guess, doesn't. I mean the
- 4:30Speaker 2: dogs have collars and and.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I think one of them is kind of a tidy
- 4:33Speaker 3: little vest.
- 4:34Speaker 2: One even has a costume. But they won't they will not.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And then and then it seems like there's a school
- 4:42Speaker 2: right by. There's a school, so I heard kids, and
- 4:45Speaker 2: then I and then there was another yard where there
- 4:47Speaker 2: were dogs inclosed and I thought are those your brothers
- 4:49Speaker 2: and sisters? But the dogs wouldn't say anything. They just
- 4:52Speaker 2: barked at me. They were very they were they kept
- 4:54Speaker 2: barking it.
- 4:54Speaker 3: They're kind of snappy little dogs.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, not nice.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Yeah, street ultimately will be street dogs probably, but these
- 5:00Speaker 3: neighbors just are out of control.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I guess they must still be feeding them.
- 5:04Speaker 3: They're still feeding and dressing them, but that's as far
- 5:08Speaker 3: as they'll go. They're not going to take care of
- 5:09Speaker 3: them in any other way.
- 5:11Speaker 2: One of them's very wiry hair and personality. It's very
- 5:16Speaker 2: wiry hair, and the others quite cute.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Very cute little creature, but so snappy. And then right
- 5:21Speaker 3: across the street we have similar dogs that make Jim
- 5:25Speaker 3: furious because he doesn't want them out and about, and
- 5:29Speaker 3: the neighbors will do nothing about an animal control will
- 5:31Speaker 3: do nothing. I don't know what step you have to
- 5:33Speaker 3: get to for animal control to step in. Does the
- 5:35Speaker 3: animal have to bite you?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Probably yeah, or be without a collar.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Okay, so I could use myself as bait kind of
- 5:42Speaker 3: just go out there and get I'm.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Sure you could get bitten by one of the that
- 5:44Speaker 2: wiry one would bite you, for sure. We have cats,
- 5:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I guess that's good.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I mean, I've I read a big thing recently about
- 5:52Speaker 3: cats in LA. Apparently we're just gonna have billions of
- 5:56Speaker 3: cats forever. Really, it's they breed too quickly to take
- 5:59Speaker 3: care of the issue.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Well, they're they're probably keeping the coyotes at the top
- 6:04Speaker 2: of the food chain.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's devastating to hear. That's tough to hear.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I mean, if it's a stray cat that gets picked
- 6:13Speaker 2: off by a coyote, I think that's better than like
- 6:16Speaker 2: a housed cat or or.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Okay, this is a classist thing. This is a real
- 6:21Speaker 3: we're dealing with some class warfare here.
- 6:23Speaker 2: And I have a twenty My partner and I have
- 6:25Speaker 2: a twenty year old cat, twenty, he's twenty. What's his name, Dawson.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Oh, I'm not familiar with this cat.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Dawson was Ryan's cat before I came into the picture,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and probably named for Dawson's.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Creek, I would help twenty two thousand and three.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and was named you know, was named Dawson
- 6:44Speaker 2: when Ryan got him.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Oh.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Interesting, we kept the name, so Ryan did not name
- 6:48Speaker 2: HI Dawson. But we realized a few years ago that
- 6:50Speaker 2: He's not Dawson's Creek. He's Jack Dawson of the Chippewa
- 6:54Speaker 2: Falls Dawsons, who from that from Titanic? Is that knew?
- 7:01Speaker 3: The last time I saw Titanic was in a movie
- 7:04Speaker 3: was in the car Mic twelve in West Shordan, Utah,
- 7:08Speaker 3: nineteen ninety seven. So dot com for me. Oh wow,
- 7:13Speaker 3: so that's an even deeper.
- 7:14Speaker 2: That's what we think. Yeah, we love Titanic, Ryan, I love.
- 7:17Speaker 2: In fact, we've gone to see remasters in the theater. Yeah,
- 7:20Speaker 2: oh yeah, we love that.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I feel like I would respond really emotionally to that movie.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Oh it's great?
- 7:27Speaker 3: Is it hold up?
- 7:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's terrific. It's so Great's majestical? Majestically majestical
- 7:34Speaker 2: is the word. We're not stopping to question. Majestical. If
- 7:37Speaker 2: it's majestical, does that mean it's just testing.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Majestical sounds like a medical term. That sounds like a
- 7:44Speaker 3: severe problem.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I sprained my majestical. I was just a pta. It was.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I'm doing all these exercises. I don't know if it's
- 7:50Speaker 2: ever going to get better, but uh, it's it's The
- 7:53Speaker 2: movie is is huge, still huge and sprawling in the effects.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Hold up, this is the thing that you did special effect?
- 8:00Speaker 3: Oh my god, I'm of course.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Is that so many don't hold up?
- 8:05Speaker 3: I mean some don't hold up, like a week later,
- 8:06Speaker 3: I know, I mean, what's that the TV show we
- 8:09Speaker 3: just didn't watch True Detective. Oh, it starts with a
- 8:14Speaker 3: like a herd of cartoon reindeer. It looks so I know,
- 8:18Speaker 3: I know you can't and you can't.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It's it's wild. And then and then like the reactions
- 8:23Speaker 2: to the special effects, I think is the other thing
- 8:25Speaker 2: is like the acting around the special effects, Like you
- 8:27Speaker 2: can tell if they're just acting with tennis balls or
- 8:32Speaker 2: if like something like I mean, I always use Jurassic Park,
- 8:35Speaker 2: the original Jurassic Park as the example. Like that's nineteen
- 8:38Speaker 2: ninety three. You watch that movie and you don't know,
- 8:41Speaker 2: you can't really tell what's computer and what's puppet. Largely puppet.
- 8:47Speaker 2: There is a lot of puppet, but there's also quite
- 8:49Speaker 2: a bit of CGI and those hold up and they
- 8:52Speaker 2: really hold up. Yeah, I'd say even better than like
- 8:55Speaker 2: subsequent Jurassic films.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Oh, some of those later Jurassic ones. I mean it's
- 8:59Speaker 3: full cart.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yeah, not just the Titanic. There's a few places in
- 9:04Speaker 2: Titanic where you're like, that's not a person falling from
- 9:07Speaker 2: the ship.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Oh, I remember that moment. Yeah, the person that hits
- 9:09Speaker 3: the Yeah, we love him. That's an iconic person in that.
- 9:14Speaker 2: It's a few little things where you're like, I don't
- 9:16Speaker 2: really buy that. But so much of it is really
- 9:17Speaker 2: really good. But it's also practical. I think that's the
- 9:20Speaker 2: thing about Like, so much of what makes a special
- 9:23Speaker 2: effect work is the practical effect mixed with the CGI.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Of course, I want to know that something real happened. Yeah,
- 9:30Speaker 3: Like like I respond better to like even I know
- 9:34Speaker 3: it's a special effect, but I know it happened kind
- 9:36Speaker 3: of in reality, something happened.
- 9:38Speaker 2: It's not just like people in an entirely green room
- 9:41Speaker 2: with green things everywhere, acting with green scene partners. Something
- 9:45Speaker 2: has to be real.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Right, And the thing I have seen from that movie
- 9:50Speaker 3: multiple times since its releases the old lady dropping the
- 9:53Speaker 3: thing in the ocean.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Yeah, the heart of the ocean. Yeah is that.
- 9:59Speaker 3: The Is that the actual end of the movie. I
- 10:01Speaker 3: don't remember from my original viewing of it. Do you
- 10:04Speaker 3: want me to tell you? Yes? I do?
- 10:07Speaker 2: After she drops it, So the whole movie, they're like,
- 10:09Speaker 2: where is this diamond? Where's this big blue diamond? Turns
- 10:12Speaker 2: out she's had it all along, okay, and now that
- 10:14Speaker 2: she's told the stories, she can release Jack Dawson from
- 10:17Speaker 2: her heart and release the heart of the ocean into
- 10:20Speaker 2: the ocean for his.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Five Okay, because I feel like when I watch it
- 10:25Speaker 3: on YouTube, it says like cut scene or delete a
- 10:27Speaker 3: scene him like what they originally filmed this and didn't
- 10:29Speaker 3: put in the movie? That makes that actually makes more
- 10:31Speaker 3: sense to me.
- 10:31Speaker 2: But no, it's in there. It's so definitely in there.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I wonder if there's some other part of what I'm
- 10:36Speaker 3: watching that's been deleted.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Oh maybe, Well there is like a whole I think
- 10:41Speaker 2: there was a whole deleted thing of this, the people
- 10:43Speaker 2: on the submarine looking at the time. I think there
- 10:45Speaker 2: was a lot more to that. Oh, in the original
- 10:49Speaker 2: the six hour cut, right, the three hour cut.
- 10:51Speaker 3: That's very James Cameron of being in a submarine.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, he loves the submarine.
- 10:55Speaker 3: He loves to get in one gets below the ocean.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I think the final final moment of Titanic and those
- 11:00Speaker 2: if you haven't seen it, please plug your ears. I
- 11:02Speaker 2: think you go into a fantasy sequence where she's back
- 11:07Speaker 2: on the ship, young beautiful Kate winslet and everyone's alive again,
- 11:10Speaker 2: and she gets to experience is that right, Analise, Yeah,
- 11:13Speaker 2: that's right, Aalise is nodding.
- 11:15Speaker 3: What does she get to experience getting to port?
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yeah, they make it, they make it.
- 11:23Speaker 3: We just watched her kind of getting off the ship
- 11:25Speaker 3: with her suitcase.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they make it and then they live
- 11:29Speaker 2: happily ever after. Something something like that. I can't really
- 11:31Speaker 2: I can't really remember, but it's something kind.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Of liss nodding their head. Interesting, Okay, okay, good, I've
- 11:37Speaker 3: got to I've got to get back to it. Yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 3: do you know what I was also wonder what?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Sorry, sorry, please.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Don't actually do apologize. I appreciate the apologize.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I'm sorry to interrupt, but I just remembered, like, we
- 11:49Speaker 2: have this little house here, right right, And I got
- 11:51Speaker 2: this little house here, and we have and we spent
- 11:54Speaker 2: a week or two over the summer getting it ready
- 11:56Speaker 2: to airbnb before we would move here now. And one
- 11:59Speaker 2: of the things that we put in the house we
- 12:01Speaker 2: get some books to put in the house about some
- 12:03Speaker 2: books that like books, yeah, you know, like To Kill
- 12:06Speaker 2: a Mockingbird and there's game, you know, traditional books that
- 12:09Speaker 2: you find it is Selation. But we also got the
- 12:12Speaker 2: double VHS of Titanic.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Oh, that's a great air it's on the sholf. Is
- 12:17Speaker 3: there a VHS play, No, that's called a VC That's
- 12:20Speaker 3: really sad for me to call it a VHS play.
- 12:22Speaker 2: There's no way I'm in the market for one of those.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Little I had this when I was first moved to
- 12:28Speaker 2: New York, this little TV. It's a tiny TV that
- 12:31Speaker 2: has a built in piece combo. That's so if I
- 12:34Speaker 2: find one, I'm getting it and I'm putting it somewhere
- 12:37Speaker 2: in the house.
- 12:37Speaker 3: A great Airbnb thing so that you.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Can come to our house and watch nothing.
- 12:41Speaker 3: But we do it.
- 12:43Speaker 2: We also have a TV. But but you can't play
- 12:47Speaker 2: the tape that was Titanic.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Just two VHS tapes.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Or four, No, just the two, just the two, or
- 12:53Speaker 2: it would be a lot that would be like yeah, no,
- 12:56Speaker 2: I don't know. That would be like north by Northwest No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 12:59Speaker 2: that's what i mean, North in South, North and South.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I feel like that's a mini series. Things are I
- 13:05Speaker 2: don't know, I don't know read the recesses of my brain.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I'm not sure, but it's only two and I think
- 13:10Speaker 2: that the I think the iceberg is when you switch tape.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Oh oh, that's a perfect cut. I think that's yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Or you can stop watching right there and just assume
- 13:19Speaker 3: something else happened.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Oh that's true.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Just kind of create your own little fantasm.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Oh you could finish it, or just think that's the
- 13:25Speaker 2: end and be very confused. So sweet. They made love
- 13:28Speaker 2: in a car.
- 13:30Speaker 3: So that's why everyone talked about the Titan.
- 13:34Speaker 2: That's history.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Do you know I was wondering about recently? I heard Oops,
- 13:39Speaker 3: I did it again Britney Spears song recently, and I
- 13:41Speaker 3: was like, remember the part where it breaks down and
- 13:43Speaker 3: it's a very dated thing that happens where she's like
- 13:45Speaker 3: talking to a guy about the jeweled getting dropped in
- 13:49Speaker 3: the ocean. Do you remember this? There's like a she
- 13:51Speaker 3: talks to a guy and she's like, thank you for this.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Didn't the old lady drop it in the ocean? Oh? Yes, right, right,
- 13:56Speaker 3: right right. I want to know who the guy was,
- 13:58Speaker 3: who was that actor? Who was the He could be
- 14:01Speaker 3: dead by now? No one knows who that I named. Yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 3: we should guess who could have possibly been.
- 14:07Speaker 2: That's like nineteen. That's like two thousand.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Second album two thousand least. Yeah, nine eleven.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Eleven, So who was famous pre nine eleven? We're gonna
- 14:20Speaker 2: go with like a I'm gonna say it's going to
- 14:22Speaker 2: be like Scott Wolfe.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Or like.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Uh Dermot mulrooney.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Who plays uh oh, I can't even think of the
- 14:34Speaker 3: CBS show. So no, I guess Scott wolf is. No,
- 14:37Speaker 3: it's no post r. He was lucky for John.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Well, you know it's you're not okay, you're far off,
- 14:46Speaker 4: but it actually not, and it's actually connected in a
- 14:49Speaker 4: very funny way.
- 14:50Speaker 3: It's a real like it's a celebrity.
- 14:52Speaker 4: No, that's that's where you're far off. But it's going
- 14:54Speaker 4: to come back to medical ship in a second doctor
- 14:58Speaker 4: his name, his name is Eli Swanson and he actually
- 15:02Speaker 4: was mostly a model, but then he decided to quit
- 15:05Speaker 4: modeling and acting and he became a doctor.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So many, so many stories like that.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Of course he became a real estate agent, not a
- 15:16Speaker 3: TV doctor, but an actual now supposedly doctor. Was that
- 15:20Speaker 3: his final role? Nail in the coffin? Wow, what's what's
- 15:27Speaker 3: his name? One more time?
- 15:28Speaker 2: Eli?
- 15:29Speaker 4: Eli Swanson?
- 15:30Speaker 3: Eli reached out do you think it.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Do you think a doctor turned I mean an actor
- 15:35Speaker 2: turned doctor would have a good bedside manner?
- 15:38Speaker 3: Oh, I think incredible, right, Yeah, I feel like a
- 15:42Speaker 3: recent Oh I went to a an urgent care recently. Yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 3: the worst bedside manner I have ever excalated. This was
- 15:49Speaker 3: a couple of months ago, and I had had a
- 15:51Speaker 3: fever for a few days and various other things. And
- 15:54Speaker 3: I went in and told him this, and he I
- 15:57Speaker 3: couldn't give like a what my temperature was, and so
- 16:00Speaker 3: when he was listing my symptoms, he said, you're a
- 16:03Speaker 3: subjective fever. It's just like I can say, I told you.
- 16:08Speaker 3: You can just believe me.
- 16:09Speaker 2: It's not that crazy you think you have a fever, sir, subjective?
- 16:17Speaker 2: You just keep the heat on in your house. But
- 16:19Speaker 2: I'm not convinced. Wow, that's not cool. I've got a
- 16:22Speaker 2: great LA urgent care doctor.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Please, Oh wait, that you can recommend.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yes, I've gone two times now today, two times today.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I'm very I'm definitely ill. No over the actually once
- 16:35Speaker 2: back in April and then once recently. Because I don't
- 16:37Speaker 2: I live mostly in New York, but whenever i'm so,
- 16:41Speaker 2: I don't have a doctor here.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Right, I mean neither do I well, right.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I've only had a doctor in New York for a
- 16:47Speaker 2: few years. It was the thing that I, you know,
- 16:50Speaker 2: neglected for a long time. But I was staying near
- 16:53Speaker 2: this urgent care and I thought I had I got
- 16:57Speaker 2: I thought I got very sick. I was very I
- 16:59Speaker 2: was not feeling well, and I was shooting this movie
- 17:01Speaker 2: and I had to kiss spoiler if you're going to
- 17:04Speaker 2: see that. If you see it, I had to kiss
- 17:05Speaker 2: a I'm not going to say who. I had to
- 17:06Speaker 2: kiss a very famous actor.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 17:10Speaker 2: And I was like, I think I'm sick. And it
- 17:12Speaker 2: was several days away, and I thought, if I'm sick,
- 17:14Speaker 2: I need to get on antibiotics right away so that
- 17:16Speaker 2: I'm not contagious when I have to kiss legendary household name.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I had a screaming if I have COVID or strep throat,
- 17:30Speaker 2: That's what I thought. I thought it was strep throat
- 17:31Speaker 2: because I've had strep throat many times in my life,
- 17:33Speaker 2: and I know the feeling, and I've in fact diagnosed
- 17:38Speaker 2: myself to a doctor. They said, no, you don't don't
- 17:41Speaker 2: take my job tested me. They said, you're subjective. Strep
- 17:45Speaker 2: throat and then later tested me and later it was
- 17:48Speaker 2: strep throw and I was right along, but this time
- 17:53Speaker 2: it was not strep throat. I went to this doctor
- 17:55Speaker 2: and he was so nice, and he gave me all
- 17:57Speaker 2: the drugs that I could possibly have wanted, which it's
- 18:00Speaker 2: all I really want. I want that, I want, I
- 18:01Speaker 2: want antibiotic, I want steroid, and I want like something
- 18:05Speaker 2: that will make me feel immediately better. And he gave
- 18:09Speaker 2: them harry like a heroin shot like immediately. But it
- 18:12Speaker 2: turned out and this is okay, Now it's gross. Are
- 18:15Speaker 2: you ready? This is where it gets gross. It was
- 18:17Speaker 2: not strep throat. Thank god. I am prone to canker
- 18:21Speaker 2: sores and have been my entire life connection. Oh yes,
- 18:25Speaker 2: I have been my entire life. If I bite myself immediately,
- 18:29Speaker 2: I will definitely get definitely get a cankerstorm. And sometimes
- 18:32Speaker 2: they just come from stress or you know whatever. I
- 18:35Speaker 2: had two canker sores where on my uvula, on my.
- 18:43Speaker 3: How did they get there?
- 18:44Speaker 2: I have no idea. I have no idea.
- 18:47Speaker 3: I didn't know that they could climb.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Basically, this has happened to me before, where I've had
- 18:54Speaker 2: canker stores in the back of my mouth and it
- 18:56Speaker 2: has felt like because it makes you know, it makes
- 18:58Speaker 2: the whole area irritated, like a sore throat situation. These
- 19:03Speaker 2: were on my uvula. He looked back there and he
- 19:06Speaker 2: was like, he's like, it's probably strapped. You're right, and
- 19:08Speaker 2: you're probably right. Let me just take a look. And
- 19:11Speaker 2: he looked and he was like, Oh, you've got canker
- 19:14Speaker 2: stores on your uvula. And I that's never happened to
- 19:18Speaker 2: me before. There were two of them.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Oh, I wonder how that happened. I don't know.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I don't know if it was like they got the
- 19:25Speaker 2: uvula got scratched by some you know, or something. Yeah,
- 19:30Speaker 2: at that time, I ate a pencil, or I had
- 19:34Speaker 2: my glass sandwiches. I don't know, but I suddenly like
- 19:37Speaker 2: like like suddenly I felt so much better. Right because
- 19:40Speaker 2: a canker stor because those do get better and you
- 19:42Speaker 2: can medicate them. You can, well, I do, yes, Actually,
- 19:46Speaker 2: if you get them, I have a pretty good remedy.
- 19:48Speaker 3: I would love to hear this, I mean share it
- 19:50Speaker 3: with the listener.
- 19:51Speaker 2: It's called canker. I think it's called canker, rid canker,
- 19:54Speaker 2: and it's made of b pollen. Okay, And I get
- 19:57Speaker 2: it online, okay, and my mother found it for me.
- 19:59Speaker 2: You're ago because because I always suffered from them and
- 20:02Speaker 2: nothing that you can get at CBS or Walgreen. It
- 20:05Speaker 2: really does a trick. It might numb it, but it
- 20:07Speaker 2: doesn't really make it better. But this stuff, it stains
- 20:13Speaker 2: everything it touches. It's it's black and it's a black liquid,
- 20:16Speaker 2: and it stains everything it touches. So it'll get if
- 20:18Speaker 2: you have it near your teeth, it'll get all of
- 20:20Speaker 2: your teeth, all your all of your fingers in your hands.
- 20:23Speaker 2: But it really does the trick. If you start using
- 20:25Speaker 2: it as soon as you get a kinker store, it
- 20:27Speaker 2: will not run its.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Course and you just kind of apply it with your finger.
- 20:31Speaker 2: It has it. It has a tip, so I I
- 20:33Speaker 2: just use the tip or I douse a Q tip
- 20:37Speaker 2: for the uvula was so far back there. I doused
- 20:40Speaker 2: a Q tip and I just like jammed it back there,
- 20:42Speaker 2: but immediately started feeling better.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Uh.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Of course the steroids helped, right. I think he gave
- 20:46Speaker 3: me storids. Then. See, this is the thing about urgent
- 20:49Speaker 3: care doctors. They will give you whatever they're going to
- 20:52Speaker 3: lead to. When there's like this super bacteria that we
- 20:55Speaker 3: can't destroy it will be because of urgent care doctors. Yes,
- 20:58Speaker 3: they will give anybody whatever drug they want. Yeah, antibiotics, sure, sure,
- 21:03Speaker 3: you just drive by and they'll throw it into your car.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Absolutely want to steroid and here it is, go far
- 21:08Speaker 2: whereas your real doctor, your normal doctor will be like
- 21:11Speaker 2: I gave you a steroids six years ago, you're not
- 21:13Speaker 2: getting another one.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Or like begging them Yeah, yeah, like I gave you.
- 21:17Speaker 2: A zpac once once in twenty thirteen. I can't give
- 21:20Speaker 2: it to you again. But you know, an urgent care
- 21:22Speaker 2: they don't. They don't well, I don't.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Think they'll ever see you again. They think you're going
- 21:25Speaker 3: to die at home and you're the problem for them
- 21:27Speaker 3: is solved.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Yeah, But what they don't know is they're creating like.
- 21:31Speaker 3: A cult mutants.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah. And I'm going to go back to doctor this
- 21:34Speaker 2: doctor every time I'm sick in Los Angeles, because I
- 21:37Speaker 2: know he'll give me and he's really sweet. Back to
- 21:39Speaker 2: bedside matter.
- 21:40Speaker 3: He's really sweet. Yeah, he was nice. I can't believe.
- 21:43Speaker 3: I mean, imagine if you could have given and this
- 21:45Speaker 3: will get beaped strap throat, that would have been a
- 21:49Speaker 3: career high for you. Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But what if you kill him. I mean, this is
- 21:53Speaker 2: the other thing, like legendary, right, what if I kill
- 21:57Speaker 2: legendary household name with my strep throw and if he's like,
- 22:01Speaker 2: you know, like he's just one strip thrown away from death.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I also like, I work with Harrison Ford on this
- 22:07Speaker 2: show Shrinking.
- 22:08Speaker 3: You could have killed so many.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I don't think anything he's gonna kill Harrison Ford. But
- 22:14Speaker 2: he's been in has in literal plane crashes. I mean
- 22:18Speaker 2: I think I hear him crashing right now, crash in
- 22:20Speaker 2: my backyard.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Harrison. Welcome to the podcast. You finally answer our call.
- 22:26Speaker 2: But my first job, I remember my first job. I
- 22:29Speaker 2: think it was my first or second job during the pandemic.
- 22:32Speaker 2: But four things were happening when they were do jobs
- 22:35Speaker 2: and everybody was like in hazmat suits.
- 22:37Speaker 5: Very weird sets at that weird time, Yeah, really weird,
- 22:40Speaker 5: very like that that moment in ET when the Peter Coyote, Yes, yes, okay, continue,
- 22:48Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Peter Coyote the first that's such a good movie.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Oh it's a great movie.
- 22:53Speaker 2: My god, Peter Coyote is the only man whose face,
- 22:59Speaker 2: adult man whose face you see in that whole movie.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Or Camp or Jone's Muppet babies or.
- 23:07Speaker 2: You don't see an adult man until that point.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Am I read that it must be that.
- 23:11Speaker 2: It might be that. But there is a cut scene
- 23:13Speaker 2: from ET with Harrison Ford as his principle. I think
- 23:18Speaker 2: he's the principal at Elliott's school.
- 23:21Speaker 3: How did they get rid of that? They cut it?
- 23:22Speaker 2: I think because they decided they didn't want to see
- 23:24Speaker 2: any people, any men, any adult men.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Harrison Ford didn't want to get typecast as in educate
- 23:31Speaker 3: right right right after of course, mister Indiana, after Doctor
- 23:35Speaker 3: Jones and Doctor Jones.
- 23:37Speaker 2: But the second job I had when we were I
- 23:40Speaker 2: think it was the first second job I had during
- 23:42Speaker 2: COVID super lockdown still you know, only outdoor restaurants things
- 23:48Speaker 2: like that. Was this competition reality show that I hosted
- 23:53Speaker 2: called Clipped. I'm sure you saw it.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I was watching before you got here.
- 23:58Speaker 2: About It was basically top for the British Bakeoff, but
- 24:01Speaker 2: with topiary artists.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Oh, I actually loved this idea. Okay, this is great.
- 24:06Speaker 2: And the head judge was Martha Stewart. Oh so so
- 24:11Speaker 2: here I am on the set with Martha Stewart during
- 24:14Speaker 2: but long before the vaccine and during super COVID times,
- 24:19Speaker 2: and I was like, what if I And I was fine,
- 24:21Speaker 2: I never got COVID and I was very careful. I
- 24:23Speaker 2: wasn't going anywhere. And I was like, what if I
- 24:26Speaker 2: killed Martha Stewart? What if I give Martha Stewart COVID
- 24:30Speaker 2: and she dies from it?
- 24:30Speaker 3: And she's demanding a kiss from everyone on.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Set because everyone, do you want to hear funny Martha Stewart?
- 24:35Speaker 3: Anecdotically, I mean, no, let's move on. I want nothing
- 24:39Speaker 3: to do with Martha Stewart.
- 24:40Speaker 2: She I have two I really like her.
- 24:44Speaker 3: I mean I got a god are you kidding?
- 24:46Speaker 2: And she was cool. I got a real kick out
- 24:47Speaker 2: of her. So so we had never met, but she
- 24:52Speaker 2: well we sort of met, but she would never have remembered.
- 24:54Speaker 2: But she had been on an episode of Ugly Betty
- 24:58Speaker 2: which I was on, and she filmed it. It was
- 25:01Speaker 2: a phone call. It was basically my so I played
- 25:05Speaker 2: Vanessa Williams assistant, and Vanessa Williams, her character was sort
- 25:08Speaker 2: of like Anna win Tour and so she knew everybody.
- 25:10Speaker 2: And so she was like, I need I need a recipe.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I'll call Martha Stewart and she calls. She just like
- 25:16Speaker 2: picks up the phone calls Martha Stewart and they shot
- 25:18Speaker 2: Martha on her now defunct talk show. They just went
- 25:22Speaker 2: and shot her there and she's literally on the set
- 25:24Speaker 2: of her talk show and she answers the phone. It's
- 25:26Speaker 2: so stupid, but I mean, it must have taken her
- 25:30Speaker 2: six minutes. So I wasn't going to bring that up
- 25:34Speaker 2: as something that you know, I wasn't gonna bring I
- 25:36Speaker 2: was I was going to make small you know, if
- 25:38Speaker 2: small talk came up. I wasn't going to be like,
- 25:40Speaker 2: remember Ugly Betty because I was sure she wouldn't.
- 25:43Speaker 3: To have to insist that she remembers.
- 25:45Speaker 2: No, you remember, oh you remember Martha. But so we're
- 25:48Speaker 2: sitting during some downtime and she asked me about myself
- 25:51Speaker 2: very kindly. She's like, so, what shows have you been on?
- 25:54Speaker 2: And I was like, well, I was on this show
- 25:55Speaker 2: Ugly Betty. And I thought, well, maybe i'll mention it now.
- 25:58Speaker 2: I was on this show Ugly Betty. And before where
- 26:00Speaker 2: I can, she goes, oh, I was on Ugly Betty.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I still get checks.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Martha is aware of her residual checks.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That's can you believe that?
- 26:10Speaker 3: That's incredible?
- 26:11Speaker 2: Martha? And this is like this one episode of Ugly
- 26:16Speaker 2: Betty is not. I mean, you're going to get some
- 26:18Speaker 2: residual checks, but.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Like at this point she's probably getting like fifty dollars
- 26:22Speaker 3: a year or something.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Maybe, yeah, like maybe, And and she knows, Wow. Can
- 26:29Speaker 2: you imagine how many checks Martha Stewart must get endless
- 26:33Speaker 2: she opens them all she knew, Wow.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Unless things have really dried up, she's counting on them.
- 26:40Speaker 2: She was shooting three shows at once during the pandemic,
- 26:42Speaker 2: Like I don't think you know. She was literally shooting
- 26:45Speaker 2: two shows at the same time while we were doing
- 26:47Speaker 2: this September of twenty twenty.
- 26:49Speaker 3: That is remarkable.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Crazy. And then the other one was the first day
- 26:53Speaker 2: of shooting. We were shooting in Terrytown, New York. Do
- 26:57Speaker 2: you know where that is. It's sort of like just
- 26:59Speaker 2: just below West chest forty five minutes outside the city. Okay, great,
- 27:03Speaker 2: I'm sure super charming at this big, beautiful castle we
- 27:06Speaker 2: were shooting, you know, on the grounds. Everything was outside,
- 27:08Speaker 2: you know, very covid. But after lunch on the first day,
- 27:11Speaker 2: I had lunch in my trailer or whatever. I said.
- 27:14Speaker 2: She didn't have a trailer, she had. There was like
- 27:16Speaker 2: a house on the property that was her trailer and
- 27:18Speaker 2: she had a driver, and you know, after lunch, I said,
- 27:23Speaker 2: what you do for lunch? And she said, oh, we
- 27:26Speaker 2: took a drive and we went and looked at Sing Sing,
- 27:29Speaker 2: which is a prison. Enough, that's right over there.
- 27:32Speaker 3: What an interesting thing I said, to be doing?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Is that? What ex cons do?
- 27:38Speaker 3: They go? I look, it's kind of like looking at houses,
- 27:46Speaker 3: you know, right, just like when.
- 27:47Speaker 2: You're a homeowner, right, I want to look at it.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Or like if you're at curiosity.
- 27:51Speaker 2: If you're at a bookstore and you see a book
- 27:53Speaker 2: you own, you pick it up for some reason.
- 27:55Speaker 3: You're now an enthusiast.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I do that. And if I'm at a bookstore
- 27:58Speaker 2: and I see book I own, I think, oh, look
- 28:00Speaker 2: at this, I own this. It's the same book at home,
- 28:03Speaker 2: but I have to look at it.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Wow, Martha's life, I mean truly, God bless the prison,
- 28:10Speaker 3: every element. I'm like, this woman is incredible.
- 28:12Speaker 2: And now she's eighty and never been hotter.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Oh she looks.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Wine with snooped.
- 28:18Speaker 3: All the way she's taken control of her life post
- 28:22Speaker 3: prison has been just so remarkable. Yeah. Wow, to go
- 28:26Speaker 3: look at Sing Sing and what is that you drive
- 28:29Speaker 3: up to? Like a chain link fence and watch the
- 28:31Speaker 3: prisoners work out.
- 28:32Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, yeah, you're like, that's a high wall.
- 28:35Speaker 2: I don't know, what do you what do you?
- 28:37Speaker 3: What do you look at her snipers in their towers?
- 28:39Speaker 3: I don't know. Wow. And that's what she did for lunch,
- 28:42Speaker 3: That's what she did for the Martha Stewart diet.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Let's go for a drug.
- 28:46Speaker 3: You go look at prisons. Wow. Those are both incredible stories.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Martha Stewart stories all.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Day, Martha Stewart days, we're pretty pretty great.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Was your family of Martha Stewart family?
- 29:00Speaker 2: No, No, I didn't discover Martha until I mean, you know,
- 29:04Speaker 2: like my first real like memory of Martha was probably
- 29:07Speaker 2: when she was on Ugly Betty, and you know, she
- 29:10Speaker 2: was pretty big at that time. I can't remember when
- 29:13Speaker 2: she went to prison, if that was before or after,
- 29:15Speaker 2: but she always been famous, and you remember she after
- 29:19Speaker 2: her own Apprentice, of course.
- 29:22Speaker 3: I mean, and now, look, we got the worst possible
- 29:25Speaker 3: host of the Apprentice's president. What if we had gotten
- 29:27Speaker 3: Martha Stewart.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Can you imagine a different story. We would look terrific,
- 29:32Speaker 2: This country would look Terris Sparkling. There's a great clip
- 29:36Speaker 2: that I've seen, like on TikTok or whatever, when Joan
- 29:39Speaker 2: Rivers was on Martha Stewart's show and it's this hilarious
- 29:45Speaker 2: I can't remember. I'm gonna butcher it, but basically, Joan's
- 29:49Speaker 2: doing a bit and she's like, somebody sent me a gift.
- 29:51Speaker 2: It was Trump's stakes, and Martha immediately goes disgusting or
- 29:57Speaker 2: something like that, and Joan said, I know, oh I
- 30:00Speaker 2: can't eat Trump. Jones's bit was about how she thought
- 30:04Speaker 2: Trump's stakes were made of Trump.
- 30:06Speaker 3: It's so clever. I love god.
- 30:08Speaker 2: She was funny.
- 30:09Speaker 3: What's incredible? Wait? Was she on the original Martha Stewart?
- 30:12Speaker 3: What were they doing?
- 30:14Speaker 2: I don't know, cooking. It was Martha Stewart's talk show.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Okay, the talk show. I went to the talk show
- 30:19Speaker 3: you did when I was interning at Letterman. I think
- 30:22Speaker 3: that's right. My mom came and visited and we went
- 30:24Speaker 3: and saw Martha Stewart live. I think that's right. Wow,
- 30:28Speaker 3: went and waited in line and then went in or
- 30:31Speaker 3: that's just a fantasy that I always wanted to happen.
- 30:33Speaker 2: That seems like it really happened. So she shot out
- 30:35Speaker 2: in New York. Yeah, yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, what
- 30:38Speaker 2: was Letterman like?
- 30:41Speaker 3: I loved, I mean, I adore. I'm obsessed with David
- 30:44Speaker 3: Letterman to this day. It was a dream and it
- 30:46Speaker 3: was also a complete nightmare. Yeah, being an intern there
- 30:49Speaker 3: was like being hazed by a frat every single day.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Oh wow. I worked in There's Writer's department, and there
- 30:55Speaker 3: was some real negative qualities to it. I mean, the
- 30:58Speaker 3: atmosphere of that show was so bad. I mean I
- 31:01Speaker 3: have to imagine Dave would at this point be like,
- 31:03Speaker 3: oh yeah, it was not a healthy work environment. But
- 31:06Speaker 3: I got to be on the show. I like the
- 31:09Speaker 3: whole thing. I got to play Alan Calter's son. Oh wow,
- 31:12Speaker 3: can you imagine Rip, one of my favorite announcers ever.
- 31:16Speaker 3: He died a last year, a couple of years ago.
- 31:19Speaker 2: He was the guy.
- 31:20Speaker 3: He was great, you kind of look like look he
- 31:22Speaker 3: has red hair. He had red hair, my god, and
- 31:25Speaker 3: he had a lot of bits on the show.
- 31:26Speaker 2: He was hilarious.
- 31:27Speaker 3: He was so funny. He was really man. He was old. Yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 3: he was probably well I think he was probably when
- 31:34Speaker 3: he died, maybe in his late seventies or eighties or
- 31:37Speaker 3: not that. But yeah, I got to play his son
- 31:39Speaker 3: twice on the show. I looked into Dave's eyes during
- 31:43Speaker 3: one of those bits, and I felt like my entire
- 31:45Speaker 3: insides turned to ashes. I was so scared, just terrified.
- 31:50Speaker 3: But that ex part of the experience was wonderful.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Wow.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Every other element was hell. I was eating crackers for lunch,
- 31:56Speaker 3: I had no money. It was just awful.
- 31:59Speaker 2: But of course offices there in the at Sullivan Theater.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Yes, yes, wow, I mean but thank god, I mean that.
- 32:05Speaker 3: I don't think I would be sitting here right now
- 32:07Speaker 3: if I didn't do that.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Yeah. So Ryan was on my partner. Ryan was did
- 32:12Speaker 2: a bit on Letterman once.
- 32:13Speaker 3: What what did he do?
- 32:14Speaker 2: It was so cool that he called. He was He
- 32:18Speaker 2: was like, my commercial agents just called and I'm supposed
- 32:22Speaker 2: to go over to Letterman to do a bit. And
- 32:23Speaker 2: there was no audition. He just like got picked right
- 32:26Speaker 2: And I was like, what are you? He was so
- 32:28Speaker 2: nonchalant about it. I was like, and I was a
- 32:30Speaker 2: big fan. I watched Letterman on when I was in
- 32:34Speaker 2: college and I had my little TV VCR combo. I
- 32:37Speaker 2: would watch Letterman every night. And I was like, this
- 32:40Speaker 2: is the coolest thing you've ever done. You're doing a
- 32:42Speaker 2: bit with Letterman. Tell me everything? And he was like,
- 32:45Speaker 2: I don't know. It's like I'm supposed to be, like
- 32:48Speaker 2: I'm going to be in a suit, and I'm like
- 32:50Speaker 2: a young executive and I just walk out in the
- 32:52Speaker 2: middle of his monologue and I put a name tag
- 32:55Speaker 2: on him and then I say he goes. He says
- 32:58Speaker 2: what's this for? And I say, couldn't hurt my help,
- 33:04Speaker 2: and then I walk off. And I was like, that
- 33:06Speaker 2: is a classic Letterman bit. It's so good, you say,
- 33:10Speaker 2: he said, I'm from the network, and I was like,
- 33:14Speaker 2: that's and he's like, is it funny?
- 33:15Speaker 3: Okay? Cool?
- 33:16Speaker 2: I was like, you don't understand. It's so funny. It's
- 33:18Speaker 2: so good.
- 33:19Speaker 3: You're gonna be. It's gonna be. It's gonna kill those
- 33:21Speaker 3: interruptions I lived for, Oh God. And he didn't.
- 33:25Speaker 2: He had no idea. He never watched letterm and he'd
- 33:26Speaker 2: never seen it.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Wow, of course this is not how it always is.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and he was like he was like, I didn't
- 33:31Speaker 2: even gaze eyes on him until I was on TV
- 33:35Speaker 2: in front of him.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Oh. Like, they just said I would need a lot
- 33:38Speaker 3: of prep before that happened.
- 33:40Speaker 2: I think if it had been me, I would have
- 33:42Speaker 2: I also, I would have been so nervous and so anxious,
- 33:44Speaker 2: but because he didn't really have any right, he just
- 33:47Speaker 2: went and did it. It's on his reel and he
- 33:50Speaker 2: like takes the namesack off and the smacks it on
- 33:53Speaker 2: his chest and like Letterman's like old and frail. Even
- 33:57Speaker 2: then he was like old and frail and right and
- 34:00Speaker 2: said when I smacked him in his chest, I thought
- 34:01Speaker 2: I was gonna break him.
- 34:02Speaker 3: He kills him on stage. You two are out for
- 34:05Speaker 3: our older celebrities. You're both trying to kill all of
- 34:08Speaker 3: the food. Wow. Well, I mean speaking of putting people
- 34:13Speaker 3: in danger and kind of just being a nuisance in general.
- 34:17Speaker 3: I was really excited to have you here today, Michael.
- 34:19Speaker 3: I thought you, I adore Michael, will have a lovely time.
- 34:23Speaker 3: We'll record something, who knows what it is, but it'll
- 34:25Speaker 3: be nice, and then he'll leave. So I was a
- 34:29Speaker 3: little surprised, I would say I was borderline upset when
- 34:34Speaker 3: you nearly ran over my neighbor's dogs and then showed
- 34:37Speaker 3: up late holding what's obviously a gift. Oh yeah, the podcast.
- 34:44Speaker 3: I mean, what's the title of the podcast, Michael, I
- 34:47Speaker 3: want to hear you say it.
- 34:49Speaker 2: You said no gifts.
- 34:50Speaker 3: I said, no gifts. Right right, So I'm wondering there's
- 34:55Speaker 3: this little pink box sitting here on the table. Gorgeous.
- 34:59Speaker 3: There's no denying that.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Sorry, I misunderstood.
- 35:06Speaker 3: Okay, it was an ignorance.
- 35:08Speaker 2: That's my that's totally my beast black of education. You
- 35:11Speaker 2: know what, why didn't I just take it with me?
- 35:13Speaker 2: I'll return it to whence it came unless you want
- 35:18Speaker 2: to just see what it is, if you'd like to
- 35:20Speaker 2: open it.
- 35:20Speaker 3: I mean it is very invited, I mean it is.
- 35:22Speaker 3: There's a temptation here from me. Maybe if you don't mind,
- 35:27Speaker 3: I'll open it.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Here on the podcast open and I think you should
- 35:30Speaker 2: open it.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Okay, we're both doing something a little tacky here.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean I chose hot pink for the box, so,
- 35:36Speaker 2: like I was, I was like from.
- 35:38Speaker 3: The beginning, stunning. Oh it's a lovely color, blinding pink.
- 35:46Speaker 3: I wonder how I even open this. It's kind of
- 35:48Speaker 3: like a trick.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Yeah, because you pull that yeah.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Just then it kind of drops and blows.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, is that the top?
- 35:58Speaker 3: The top? It was opened in a way that is
- 36:01Speaker 3: deeply confusing.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that is weird.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Now got some kind of easter grass? Yeah, yeah, pull
- 36:06Speaker 3: it out. And then is there something in the eastern
- 36:09Speaker 3: It must be in there. Yeah, it must be in
- 36:11Speaker 3: unless it ate it. There's a measuring tape in here,
- 36:17Speaker 3: that's right a Iikeia to find this in this beautiful
- 36:22Speaker 3: box is absolutely ideal. This was the perfect box for
- 36:25Speaker 3: this ikeea measuring tape. Okay, why did you bring this?
- 36:29Speaker 3: And this is actually very handy for me. Okay, I'm
- 36:32Speaker 3: constantly measuring.
- 36:33Speaker 2: I know this about you because I'm a fan of
- 36:36Speaker 2: the podcast. I know that you lost all of your
- 36:41Speaker 2: measuring tapes, threw them all out, you got rid of them,
- 36:45Speaker 2: you said no more.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I couldn't have them in my home anymore.
- 36:49Speaker 2: And I heard the the Paul Rubens episode Oh Sure,
- 36:53Speaker 2: which is IP which is rip oh tragic. But I
- 36:58Speaker 2: will say it's one of the best episodes of a
- 37:00Speaker 2: podcast I've ever listened to it. It is so a listener.
- 37:05Speaker 2: I'm sure you already heard it, but if you haven't,
- 37:07Speaker 2: it's so good. You're terrific.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Paul is so it's.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Actually like devastating to hear him so recently be so brilliant.
- 37:18Speaker 3: It was just constantly funny, so funny, so inventive.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I adored it. I wanted to listen to it again.
- 37:25Speaker 2: But in it, at some point I can't remember how
- 37:28Speaker 2: it came up. You said that you had lost all
- 37:31Speaker 2: other measuring and I thought it was some kind of
- 37:34Speaker 2: like measuring tape bandit that came to your house and
- 37:38Speaker 2: took them all. Well, you were talking about yardsticks. That's
- 37:40Speaker 2: what it was, because it was in the game, I think,
- 37:44Speaker 2: and yardstick was one of the gifts for a celebrities. Yes, yes, yes,
- 37:48Speaker 2: And you said that it's made of metal, hopefully not plastic.
- 37:52Speaker 2: And Paul said, well, you can get one made of
- 37:56Speaker 2: cloth or tape right from Ikea. And I'm this is incredible.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I have been carrying this measuring tape around with me
- 38:08Speaker 2: for the last month because we have this house in
- 38:12Speaker 2: la and it's tiny, and so we have to measure
- 38:15Speaker 2: everything that.
- 38:16Speaker 3: We bought within the last inch.
- 38:18Speaker 2: And I picked one of these up at Ikea. He
- 38:20Speaker 2: described the Ikea free measuring tape.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Imagine Paul Rubins and Ikea.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing. I immediately started to imagine him
- 38:31Speaker 2: taking these because they're free. I'm sure he has many
- 38:34Speaker 2: of them. I'm sure he had many of them in
- 38:35Speaker 2: a drawer somewhere.
- 38:36Speaker 3: I mean, he gave me essentially his junk draw I
- 38:40Speaker 3: can't believe I didn't get one of these from him,
- 38:41Speaker 3: because he needed them so much, so badly, but he
- 38:45Speaker 3: didn't know is that you did too, And so now
- 38:48Speaker 3: you have this. Wow, this is really a full circle thing.
- 38:52Speaker 2: I've literally been carrying this around for the last month
- 38:54Speaker 2: since I got to Los Angeles in my in my
- 38:56Speaker 2: jean jacket pocket.
- 38:58Speaker 3: That's a very cool thing to have in a jean
- 38:59Speaker 3: jacket and paired.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it was great and and and I wear that gene.
- 39:03Speaker 2: I'm not wearing it today, but I wear that jean
- 39:05Speaker 2: jacket most days. And so as soon as I heard that,
- 39:08Speaker 2: I thought, that's that'll be the gift that I bring
- 39:11Speaker 2: Bridger and I went and found it and and and
- 39:14Speaker 2: anyway here it is.
- 39:15Speaker 3: So it's so weird because I was just a couple
- 39:17Speaker 3: of days ago thinking about Paul, like a very recent
- 39:20Speaker 3: thing thinking about him. I don't know why, but yeah,
- 39:23Speaker 3: what about him?
- 39:24Speaker 2: All the time? He was he was so magical, just
- 39:29Speaker 2: one of the all times, just a complete original. Yes,
- 39:34Speaker 2: and also somebody you know, I mean he talked about
- 39:37Speaker 2: he was in some movies, you know, he did things
- 39:39Speaker 2: not as Pewe and was great.
- 39:41Speaker 3: A like a FBI agent in Matilda.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Amazing, great, amazing, and he gave you fake money from
- 39:50Speaker 2: the movie Blow. And of course he was like a
- 39:53Speaker 2: vampire and Buffy and the vampires there right, Penguin's parents
- 39:57Speaker 2: and Batman father, so like, you know, like and and
- 40:04Speaker 2: of course Peewee and I always, you know, since I
- 40:08Speaker 2: was a kid, thought that he hung the moon. And
- 40:11Speaker 2: I never met him, but he was a hero. And
- 40:15Speaker 2: when he died, my dear friend Becky Newton, who was
- 40:19Speaker 2: on Ugly Betty with me, we shared a love of
- 40:21Speaker 2: Pewee forever, she sent me a giant doll oh of Pewee.
- 40:27Speaker 3: No, how big is it?
- 40:28Speaker 2: It's it's it's huge. It's it's probably a yardstick's tall,
- 40:34Speaker 2: but I have it in New York. And I mean,
- 40:38Speaker 2: like he really.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Was just so important adventure, Oh my god. Absolutely truly
- 40:45Speaker 3: a perfect movie, completely perfect movie. I never saw Big Top.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Big Top was not as good, but it was also
- 40:51Speaker 2: very fun.
- 40:52Speaker 3: We should revisit.
- 40:53Speaker 2: And then he remounted his his stage show. That's right,
- 40:58Speaker 2: and I saw him on Broadway. Yeah, it's it was fantastic.
- 41:02Speaker 3: When that was like in the tens, the teens.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say the time went with Ryan, so
- 41:07Speaker 2: it was post It was probably like nine or ten. Ryan,
- 41:11Speaker 2: I've been together since eight, so probably like ten.
- 41:13Speaker 3: And what was the show?
- 41:15Speaker 2: It was People's Playhouse. Wow, curtain went up and there it.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Was, Oh my god.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it was incredible cherry shame. You know, the mailman
- 41:25Speaker 2: came by the like the little wizard guy that's just ahead.
- 41:30Speaker 3: That scared me until I was old enough for not
- 41:32Speaker 3: to scare me anymore. But yeah, there was always an uncanny,
- 41:35Speaker 3: weird element to that that. Yeah, it was very eerie.
- 41:38Speaker 2: But they had the foil ball and you know the
- 41:41Speaker 2: Word of the Day and all that stuff, and it
- 41:43Speaker 2: was delight. We went on Christmas Day, Oh what a.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Perfect Chris wonderful and Paul loved holidays and there you go.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Absolutely well as far as measuring goes, are you do you?
- 41:53Speaker 3: I feel like I'm pretty good at estimating time, but
- 41:56Speaker 3: spatially I'm so bad.
- 41:58Speaker 2: I can be I can. Yeah, I'm with you. I'm
- 42:00Speaker 2: not great at it. That's why I need you know. Ryan.
- 42:04Speaker 2: We actually have this rug in our house that Ryan
- 42:06Speaker 2: and I fought. Oh, every time we would be out,
- 42:10Speaker 2: I'd say, well, that rug is not this side. He's like, no,
- 42:12Speaker 2: no it is, and I'd be like, no, that's definitely
- 42:15Speaker 2: not and he's like, I promise you didn't. Then we
- 42:16Speaker 2: go home, and this has happened several times. You'd go
- 42:18Speaker 2: home and remeasure it and he was always right and
- 42:21Speaker 2: I was always wrong, and I'd be like, god, I
- 42:22Speaker 2: sure I thought it was more than five feet.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Were you heading out rug shopping without the measurements?
- 42:27Speaker 2: Kind of yeah, I mean this is another like an
- 42:30Speaker 2: obvious and we would go back and try to find
- 42:33Speaker 2: like the email receipt to see if it had of course,
- 42:37Speaker 2: but he was pretty confident it was my It was
- 42:39Speaker 2: really on me. I was the one who was skeptical
- 42:41Speaker 2: about how how big them?
- 42:42Speaker 3: Well, it's also I just got a kitchen rug. And
- 42:45Speaker 3: even if you have their measurements, I don't think it helps.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Once you get into your house, it's always like, oh
- 42:49Speaker 3: that's way too big.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Right, still exactly, it's still it doesn't really matter, right,
- 42:54Speaker 2: And you're trapped. And we were in a we're in this.
- 42:56Speaker 2: We have this tiny house. It's five hundred and eighty square.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Feet over and that's a very small time, like.
- 43:04Speaker 2: An actual tiny house, right, And we've lived in apartments,
- 43:06Speaker 2: so like I actually love small.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Oh so nice to just be able to look at
- 43:10Speaker 3: everything and have everything under control.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Yes, I actually quite like being in small places. And
- 43:15Speaker 2: we got all this tiny furniture to fill this tiny
- 43:18Speaker 2: house and we were airbnbing it for the for all
- 43:22Speaker 2: of the fall before I came back to shoot drinking
- 43:25Speaker 2: and it was adorable, all these tiny little things and
- 43:28Speaker 2: it was tiny little house. And then we got there
- 43:30Speaker 2: to live there, and I was like, oh, this is awful.
- 43:33Speaker 2: This is the worst couch I've ever sat on, Like,
- 43:35Speaker 2: I can't I can't possibly sit in this chair.
- 43:37Speaker 3: You just have these horrible reviews on where are these
- 43:40Speaker 3: coming from?
- 43:41Speaker 2: I don't understand what's wrong with sitting on it?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Two places jail.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Yeah, So so we started looking for and then we
- 43:47Speaker 2: want there's this show we like to watch. I don't
- 43:50Speaker 2: know if you guys do this, but if it's the
- 43:52Speaker 2: end of the night and like we're not quite ready
- 43:54Speaker 2: for bed, but we aren't ready to start a new
- 43:57Speaker 2: TV show.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Do we have the energy for a plot?
- 44:00Speaker 2: Yees don't have the energy for a plot. Our go
- 44:03Speaker 2: to is my lottery dream home.
- 44:05Speaker 3: I knew you were going to say this. You mentioned
- 44:07Speaker 3: this to me a couple of months ago and I
- 44:09Speaker 3: have started watching it.
- 44:10Speaker 2: And I have Oh my gosh, David tattooed. David is
- 44:15Speaker 2: the greatest.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Watching his transformation throughout the series is fascinating.
- 44:19Speaker 2: And if you watch later seasons where he's covered in tattoos,
- 44:22Speaker 2: the credits are still from season one where he doesn't
- 44:24Speaker 2: have any tingle. Yeah, so you see him like imagine
- 44:28Speaker 2: winning the lottery and he has no tattoos. But then
- 44:30Speaker 2: it cuts to him in Memphis or wherever, meeting the people,
- 44:33Speaker 2: and he's like, basically like face tattoo tattoos.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Now, Yes, I love him.
- 44:39Speaker 2: He said something on an episode recently. We were watching
- 44:42Speaker 2: recently in our tiny little home, sitting on our tiny
- 44:44Speaker 2: little couch on our tiny little sofa and toothpick chairs.
- 44:50Speaker 2: They were looking at a small room that had a
- 44:52Speaker 2: big couch in it, and he said he walked in
- 44:57Speaker 2: and they were like, oh, I love this room. I
- 44:58Speaker 2: love this couch. And he's like, that's right. When you
- 45:00Speaker 2: have a small room, big furniture makes it feel bigger.
- 45:04Speaker 2: And I thought that's totally crazy.
- 45:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that feels like the opposite.
- 45:07Speaker 2: But it's true. Really, we got like a proper couch
- 45:11Speaker 2: for our tiny house, and it now feels it's a
- 45:15Speaker 2: totally different place.
- 45:16Speaker 3: I would think the exact me too, in that blowing
- 45:20Speaker 3: David from my of my Lottery dream Hall.
- 45:23Speaker 2: It's totally true. If you have a small place, put
- 45:26Speaker 2: a big piece in there and it will make it
- 45:28Speaker 2: feel bigger. And in fact we're putting we're building a
- 45:31Speaker 2: tiny office in our in the tiny backyard of our
- 45:34Speaker 2: tiny house, and we've decided that our horrible, tiny couch
- 45:38Speaker 2: is going to go there. It's fine if you're just
- 45:41Speaker 2: like sitting at attention. It's when you want to relax
- 45:44Speaker 2: in any way that it doesn't work.
- 45:45Speaker 3: It's causing problems.
- 45:46Speaker 2: So like to be an office couch. It's gonna be fine, right,
- 45:50Speaker 2: but but it's not ready yet. So right now we
- 45:54Speaker 2: have our new normal sut sized couch and our tiny
- 45:59Speaker 2: awkward how are you? But it all fits.
- 46:04Speaker 3: It fits. You're finding out some interesting things about the space.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Yes, So like all these years of living in tiny
- 46:09Speaker 2: spaces thinking you need tiny furniture, I was wrong, Like
- 46:13Speaker 2: a tiny place can sustain a big piece of furniture.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Where did you get the big couch? Court court crt
- 46:22Speaker 3: r CRT.
- 46:23Speaker 2: How do I know that furniture I guess I'm just
- 46:24Speaker 2: studied this furniture shopping. Yeah, it's a famous furniture.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Okay, my lottery dream home, let's get back.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, we've got finally. God, I've been dying to
- 46:32Speaker 2: talk about those.
- 46:33Speaker 3: This show is so interesting to watch because it's whenever
- 46:36Speaker 3: I think lottery, I'm like endless money. But then there
- 46:39Speaker 3: will be episodes where the person has not one enough
- 46:41Speaker 3: to even buy a house, and so it's like what
- 46:44Speaker 3: it feels very like. It feels like there's a lot
- 46:46Speaker 3: of stretching to describe what a lottery is.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Like.
- 46:49Speaker 3: I feel like I'm gonna be watching an episode and
- 46:51Speaker 3: they're gonna be like, I want twenty dollars on a scratch.
- 46:53Speaker 2: And I'd like to buy this house. What kind of house?
- 46:56Speaker 2: A Barbie house? Yeah? Exactly. Yeah, And sometimes it's inherented.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Have you seen one like that?
- 47:01Speaker 3: Ya? Well, that's real. They push it's.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Season thirty or something.
- 47:05Speaker 3: And you know what I mean. They's kind of dark
- 47:07Speaker 3: to call your inheritance a lottery winning.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess it isn't quite.
- 47:10Speaker 3: A mom died in a slipping, let's celebrate, and she
- 47:17Speaker 3: never spent a dime on herself, so now we get
- 47:19Speaker 3: it all.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Yeah. My favorite is when somebody who does win a
- 47:23Speaker 2: big amount when it's oh, because there's always a moment
- 47:26Speaker 2: where he's like, so, how much did you win? And
- 47:29Speaker 2: they tell it and then he's like, and how much
- 47:30Speaker 2: are you giving me to work with to find you?
- 47:33Speaker 2: Because the premise of the show listener is that David
- 47:36Speaker 2: comes to your town and he shows you three.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Homes in a very flowy outfit in a gorgeous lower
- 47:43Speaker 3: year turning heads in whatever small town he's in, and
- 47:47Speaker 3: he shows you three possible homes and you have to
- 47:49Speaker 3: pick one, and then they come back six months later
- 47:53Speaker 3: when you haven't yet moved in, and they do a pretend.
- 47:56Speaker 2: It's great here. But he'll ask at the beginning how
- 47:59Speaker 2: much did you win? And then he'll say how much
- 48:02Speaker 2: is your budget? How much you're giving me to work with?
- 48:04Speaker 2: Is what he says. And my favorite is when they're like,
- 48:07Speaker 2: we won ten million dollars and he's like, oh my god,
- 48:10Speaker 2: that's amazing, and what's your budget and they're like three
- 48:14Speaker 2: hundred thousand.
- 48:16Speaker 3: We will not be using the money.
- 48:17Speaker 2: We won't be using the money, and so suddenly suddenly
- 48:20Speaker 2: he's like they're like we'd like at least one bathroom.
- 48:24Speaker 2: It's like and you see his face, like you see
- 48:28Speaker 2: him dial along side. He gets so excited, like I'm
- 48:30Speaker 2: gonna be able to find a mansion for these people,
- 48:32Speaker 2: and it's like, okay, you're getting a trailer.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of things on the show like that.
- 48:39Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, this is confusing.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 3: I see the word lottery and I think we're just
- 48:42Speaker 3: going for it, right and they.
- 48:44Speaker 2: No, No, No, it's model homes or you know, like
- 48:47Speaker 2: but it's still so exciting and it's fun to to
- 48:50Speaker 2: like try and guess what they're gonna what they're gonna pick.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Oh, are you good at guessing?
- 48:54Speaker 2: No, I'm usually wrong. I'm usually wrong. I'm often surprised.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Ryan's better at it than I. And he's like, they're
- 49:00Speaker 2: not going to do that because they want split level,
- 49:02Speaker 2: or they're not going to do that because they need
- 49:03Speaker 2: a backyard, and I'm like, I wasn't really paying attention.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Maybe I missed that part.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I feel like I'm pretty good at guessing
- 49:09Speaker 3: on House Hunters, but that's because I kind of know
- 49:11Speaker 3: the tricks of how they produce that show. At this point, Oh,
- 49:14Speaker 3: which they like basically you have to have closed on
- 49:18Speaker 3: the house before they let you on the show. So
- 49:20Speaker 3: like the houses that actually look lived in and have furniture,
- 49:23Speaker 3: those are just houses they've found that won't be purchased.
- 49:26Speaker 3: It's usually the ones that look like something like very
- 49:29Speaker 3: temperate or like you can tell that it's a house
- 49:32Speaker 3: that's going to be moved into rather than one that's
- 49:34Speaker 3: being lived in.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 49:36Speaker 3: So, but on Lottery Dream Home, there's no telling what's
- 49:40Speaker 3: going to anyone's guest. Yes, it's truly anyone's guests. Yeah,
- 49:43Speaker 3: and the people are always interesting, yes they are. And well,
- 49:47Speaker 3: people who play the lottery, I mean it's it's it's
- 49:49Speaker 3: a it's a special kind of person who plays lottery.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I don't know if you play the lot I don't
- 49:53Speaker 3: play the lottery.
- 49:54Speaker 2: I don't. I don't gamble. And at least you play
- 49:55Speaker 2: the lottery.
- 49:56Speaker 3: At least is hooked. I'm trying to get them to stop.
- 49:59Speaker 3: The money is just I mean, here's the deal.
- 50:02Speaker 4: I'm terrified of winning because then suddenly all of your relationship.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Dynamics changed totally. You'd have to tell no one you
- 50:09Speaker 3: have to move. I don't want any of that. I'm
- 50:12Speaker 3: ready for the lottery to ruin my life, just destroy
- 50:15Speaker 3: all my relationships. I'm happy to What.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Would you do if you win the lottery?
- 50:19Speaker 3: Well, first, I'd go on my lottery dream home. That's
- 50:21Speaker 3: the only reason I want to win the lottery. I
- 50:23Speaker 3: don't care about the financial freedom. Let me meet David.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Is there no other way for me to What would
- 50:30Speaker 3: I do if I won the lottery? I unfortunately, because
- 50:34Speaker 3: it's a mental illness of mine. I wouldn't change anything.
- 50:37Speaker 3: I simply would spend no more money, right, I would
- 50:40Speaker 3: just sit in a bank account and everyone would resent me. Oh,
- 50:44Speaker 3: I would kind of. That's how I would ruin relationships
- 50:46Speaker 3: because they'd be like Bridger has so much money and
- 50:48Speaker 3: he's doing nothing new with it. He's not buying us
- 50:51Speaker 3: better things. He's not solving any of our problems. He
- 50:54Speaker 3: just continues to worry about money.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Yeah, what would you do? I also, I'm a keep
- 51:00Speaker 2: money under my mattress kind of a guy too. But
- 51:03Speaker 2: I do think I would take my parents sure, and
- 51:07Speaker 2: like colleges for nephews and nieces and things. Right, and
- 51:10Speaker 2: then I would because we have a little apartment and
- 51:14Speaker 2: a little house, I want a big I want a
- 51:16Speaker 2: big I want some day, I definitely want some day
- 51:20Speaker 2: to be able to furnish a shop.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Without Oh can you imagine not think about a price,
- 51:25Speaker 3: to just be like, oh, I like how that looks,
- 51:27Speaker 3: and it doesn't matter now it's mine.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Yes, And I don't need a tape measure because it
- 51:32Speaker 2: doesn't matter. The house is big enough for anything.
- 51:34Speaker 3: We need to actually make sure that it's not small
- 51:36Speaker 3: too small for the.
- 51:37Speaker 2: House exactly exactly. So I think that's probably where I
- 51:41Speaker 2: would go. I would, I would, but I wouldn't do
- 51:43Speaker 2: anything outrageous, right, you know, like cars. I don't really
- 51:48Speaker 2: care about cars.
- 51:49Speaker 3: They mean nothing to me.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't need like I like to travel,
- 51:53Speaker 2: but I wouldn't need to travel extravagantly. I think I
- 51:56Speaker 2: think I would travel more, but I would, you know,
- 51:59Speaker 2: still travel modestly. I don't need to, you know. But
- 52:04Speaker 2: I think set up my family and a big house, I.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Would probably buy a new doormat. That's and that's like
- 52:11Speaker 3: a slightly bigger, better doormat. That would be the shift
- 52:15Speaker 3: in my life.
- 52:15Speaker 2: Oh, okay, do you have a small doormat.
- 52:17Speaker 3: I think it's too small. I like it because it's
- 52:20Speaker 3: it's like, doesn't get soaked in the rain, like it
- 52:23Speaker 3: it's like kind of a weird elastic or something, because
- 52:27Speaker 3: we had one of those natural fiber ones and it
- 52:30Speaker 3: was just soaked all the time. So this one is
- 52:32Speaker 3: good for the rain. But I think it's too small
- 52:34Speaker 3: for the space and I think it looks ridiculous. But
- 52:36Speaker 3: I'm not willing to change. I'm waiting to win the lottery,
- 52:40Speaker 3: my lottery dream doormat.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Imagine a look on David's face when he says what
- 52:48Speaker 2: do you win in You're like fifteen million, and then
- 52:50Speaker 2: he's like and what's your budget and you're like thirty dollars?
- 52:53Speaker 3: What?
- 52:53Speaker 2: Oh, I don't want a house. I'm just looking for
- 52:56Speaker 2: a doormat.
- 52:57Speaker 3: That's what he has a suicide pill for. I was
- 53:00Speaker 3: right on the show, and you can.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Just like imagine when the cameras stopped rolling, he goes
- 53:04Speaker 2: over to a producer and he's like, I flew all
- 53:07Speaker 2: the way here.
- 53:08Speaker 3: I'm staying in. Its supposed to be my career. Where
- 53:12Speaker 3: did this guy come from?
- 53:13Speaker 2: Oh? I also love on that show when he goes
- 53:16Speaker 2: to the local realtors.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Oh, anytime we get a local realtter or involved househowners,
- 53:22Speaker 3: international householders, I love these people.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Yes, and he's like he's like, come here, give me
- 53:26Speaker 2: a hug, give me some sugar. And you can see
- 53:28Speaker 2: they can tell like this person hasn't hugged anyone in years,
- 53:31Speaker 2: or like this is not hugging down.
- 53:34Speaker 3: I wonder how they track down those people. Oh, what
- 53:37Speaker 3: is the casting process for a reltter on a reality
- 53:40Speaker 3: show where the reeller is not actually involved?
- 53:43Speaker 2: Oh? Good question. Last night I was actually at the
- 53:47Speaker 2: Artios Awards, which is the casting director's Oscars session. Now
- 53:52Speaker 2: the casting doctors have an OSCAR twenty twenty six coming around.
- 53:57Speaker 2: There will be a casting director Oscar, which is very exciting.
- 54:01Speaker 2: It was. It was very exciting last night to be
- 54:03Speaker 2: there because this is the first time they've all gathered
- 54:05Speaker 2: since the news. But there was a reality show category.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Oh of course, because there's casting for of course. But
- 54:12Speaker 2: my Lottery dream Home is not nominated.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Oh no, that's got a sting. I wonder if it's
- 54:17Speaker 3: ever been nominated.
- 54:18Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know, but I would nominate them,
- 54:21Speaker 2: Oh of course. I mean it's like basically the only
- 54:22Speaker 2: reality show I watched, so I probably wouldn't be a
- 54:25Speaker 2: good judgment.
- 54:25Speaker 3: I mean, they have two viewers right here. That's I mean,
- 54:28Speaker 3: something somebody cares about it. I mean, And there are
- 54:31Speaker 3: also a thousand seasons, so many we're getting into parents
- 54:35Speaker 3: dying and leaving money and calling that a lottery. So
- 54:37Speaker 3: obviously there's plenty of episodes.
- 54:41Speaker 2: I love that you can hear a school here.
- 54:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we're getting the announcements right now. We'll get
- 54:46Speaker 3: children screaming, children laughing. What else do we get? Sometimes
- 54:51Speaker 3: they'll have like music playing fun upbeat like Bruno Mars music.
- 54:54Speaker 3: I don't know what they're doing over there. But the
- 54:57Speaker 3: thing is is I have no idea what the school's
- 54:59Speaker 3: schedu rule is because we'll go it'll be like Tuesday
- 55:02Speaker 3: through Thursday silence, and then suddenly there's noise on a Friday.
- 55:06Speaker 3: I'm like, wow, this is not a normal school.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Or maybe they're punished during the week and then they're
- 55:12Speaker 2: let loose on Friday.
- 55:13Speaker 3: And cages up there.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:15Speaker 3: I don't know what's going on there, but I get
- 55:18Speaker 3: a little bit of elementary school happening.
- 55:20Speaker 2: It's a fun every day kids laughing. As the kids.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Laughing, I think it's time to play a game.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Oh finally, I've been waiting.
- 55:31Speaker 3: For him only I think it's gift or a curse.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Oh I'm so good at well, I mean yeah, I'm
- 55:36Speaker 3: not that good at anything. What are we talking about?
- 55:39Speaker 3: I need a number between one and ten from you,
- 55:41Speaker 3: Michael eight. Okay, I need to do some like calculating.
- 55:44Speaker 3: So right now you can promote, recommend, do whatever you
- 55:47Speaker 3: want with a microphone or my lottery.
- 55:50Speaker 2: Dream Home is a show you can find on Max.
- 55:53Speaker 2: There are dozens and dozens of seasons. The host David
- 55:57Speaker 2: is delightful and tattooed to the wazoo.
- 56:02Speaker 3: It's a great show.
- 56:03Speaker 2: I also just recently watched the latest seasons of Fargo
- 56:07Speaker 2: and True Detective and love them. Albeit there is some
- 56:11Speaker 2: faulty reindeer cgi in one of them, but those shows
- 56:16Speaker 2: are terrific. Great performances from the two leading detectives on
- 56:21Speaker 2: True Detective and Juno Temple, famous for Ted Lasso is
- 56:26Speaker 2: brilliant on Fargo. And then I also when's this coming out?
- 56:30Speaker 3: March twenty first?
- 56:31Speaker 2: March twenty first. If you are listening to this on
- 56:33Speaker 2: March twenty first, and you are anywhere in the Tri
- 56:35Speaker 2: state area, you have two more weeks to go. See
- 56:38Speaker 2: Spam a Lot on Broadway, which is the greatest show ever.
- 56:42Speaker 2: I was in it with Bridgers partner Jimmy Smagoula, and
- 56:46Speaker 2: it is closing early, sadly, but it is, I promise you,
- 56:51Speaker 2: the most fun you'll have on Broadway. So go check
- 56:53Speaker 2: it out.
- 56:55Speaker 3: Excellent. What a shame about spam Alat fun show. I know,
- 56:59Speaker 3: we're so good in it. Thank you, Jim so Good
- 57:01Speaker 3: and it's brilliant. James I.
- 57:05Speaker 2: Gohart plays King Arthur and he's he's wonderful. And Taren
- 57:08Speaker 2: Killem was wonderful, oh, Taren, former podcast guest here pre
- 57:13Speaker 2: spam Alot, and now Alex Brightman is playing Lancelot. Christopher
- 57:17Speaker 2: Oldzgerald one of the greatest musical comedy actors of all time.
- 57:20Speaker 2: So Good plays Patsy and it's just a wonderful show.
- 57:24Speaker 2: It is non stop laughs, and it's playing at the Saint
- 57:27Speaker 2: James Theater through I think April ninth is the last
- 57:29Speaker 2: show pure entertainment.
- 57:31Speaker 3: Go see it. Just a fun time and uh yeah again,
- 57:34Speaker 3: thank you for apologizing about this cartoon reindeer at the
- 57:38Speaker 3: beginning of True Detective. I was really upset by that.
- 57:41Speaker 2: When you saw that, were you like, is this a
- 57:42Speaker 2: Christmas show?
- 57:43Speaker 3: It felt like, like, where's Tim Allen He's gonna be
- 57:48Speaker 3: I was, I was honestly shocked. I was thinking, this
- 57:50Speaker 3: is the first thing I'm singing your TV show, and
- 57:52Speaker 3: it's the most phony looking cgi cariboo or whatever. Throw
- 57:57Speaker 3: a few extra dollars towards the cariboo.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe it's hard to get trained caribou.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Well, I don't care.
- 58:04Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 58:05Speaker 3: Get another trained animal trained to have trained dogs running
- 58:08Speaker 3: through the snow with antlers than we are in.
- 58:14Speaker 2: I mean, Jim Cameron would have done it. Jim Cameron
- 58:17Speaker 2: would do it. You can do it, Hbo or whatever.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Michael. This is how we play Gift, a curse, tame
- 58:24Speaker 3: three things. You'll tell me if there're a gift or
- 58:26Speaker 3: a curse and why, and then I'll tell you if
- 58:28Speaker 3: you're right or wrong. Because there are objectively true answers.
- 58:32Speaker 3: There are no subjective fevers here. Let's get into this
- 58:37Speaker 3: number one. This is from a listener named uh Anika
- 58:40Speaker 3: or anka A n n I k A. How do
- 58:43Speaker 3: we feel an I'd say Onnica, you could go in
- 58:50Speaker 3: any direction with that name, so I think AKA, there
- 58:53Speaker 3: we go. Of course, that was the obvious. They've suggested
- 58:59Speaker 3: gift her a curse when fitness trainers want you to
- 59:02Speaker 3: yell during their class, curse, Why.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Well, not everyone needs to speak at the gym. When
- 59:13Speaker 2: I'm at the gym, I don't want to talk. I
- 59:16Speaker 2: don't even want to say no, I'm not using that
- 59:19Speaker 2: machine when someone says, are you using this machine? I
- 59:22Speaker 2: don't want to talk to anybody at the gym. I'm
- 59:24Speaker 2: there to do my thing. This is actually a problem
- 59:27Speaker 2: in New York. I know way more people in New
- 59:29Speaker 2: York than I do in LA, so this doesn't happen here,
- 59:31Speaker 2: but in New York. I've lived in New York since
- 59:33Speaker 2: nineteen ninety nine. I know too many people, and it's
- 59:37Speaker 2: too small of a player, very small. And I run
- 59:40Speaker 2: in the same circles as people who go to the gym,
- 59:42Speaker 2: and they're always there. And sometimes I go to the gym.
- 59:45Speaker 2: If I'm going to the gym for like a short
- 59:46Speaker 2: period of time, I'm like, I can't. I just can't
- 59:50Speaker 2: run into you right now. Nothing's happened since yesterday when
- 59:55Speaker 2: we had the same conversation at the fly machine, And
- 59:57Speaker 2: I've got nothing more to say to you. I like you,
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: but there's nothing. There's and I avoid people at the gym.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: If I see somebody I know, even people I know, well,
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: I will avoid that.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: Oh that sounds horrifying to me to run into somebody
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, and it happened. And at the gym I
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: go to, there's so many people. I mean, it's like
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: and Ryan and I always joke there's so many people
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: that we know at the gym, and like sort of
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Broadway Famous Broadway, and it's like it's gotten so bad
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: that I avoid Bernadette Peter's at the gym.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: She will not leave you. She wants to.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Talk between every set, and I love her. I mean,
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: I'm obsessed with her. I'm going to see her in
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: concert tomorrow. But I can't talk. I can't talk. I'm
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: busy listening. I'm busy listening to I said no gifts,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: and I'm on my third set and I can't talk
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: to you. Bernette Peters.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: This is kind of the ultimate weightlifting podcast, really pumps
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: people high energy.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: But I actually was.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: I I think I was.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: It was some funny jiff of Bernadette or something like that,
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: and I sent it to Ryan Jiff for gift.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Interesting. I love to hear somebody naturally say Jiff because
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: I say gift, but like I think it didn't feel intense.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: It felt like you are a Jiff person.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Generated is the word, right, Well.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: It's the technically it's supposed to You're supposed to say Jeff,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: but I say, too bad. It looks like Giff, the
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: creator of Jeff's, dropped the ball.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: I'm a big fan of peanut Butter. I think that's
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: why I go to jail.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: How has there not been some sort of Jeff Peanut
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Butter crossover campaign? Yeah, I don't know animated.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: Jeff, but I sent Ryan a Jeff of Bernett Peters
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: or something like that, just as a joke, just as
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: you know, you know, as you do. And he wrote back,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: it's the lady from the gym, Like, that's how much.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: Bernadette's a huge meathead. She's just muscle bound, terrific shape.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: I mean, she's like one hundred years. She looks in crab.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: So she's just hitting the gym. She hits them. What
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: machines is she using?
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: She does freeways. I always see her doing freeways.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: And she has benching thousands of pounds, can bench four
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: hundred pounds. Wow, you're saying curse.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I'm saying it's a curse for a trainer to insist
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: that you shout absolutely, thank you, huge curse.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: I mean, what I'm thinking is what I can't do
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: in any situation is yell in unison. And this is
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: like they're saying during class. And since I was a child,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: I feel so embarrassed when people are yelling in unison,
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: doing cheers or whatever. I can't do it. I simply
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: I will remain silent or I'll lip sync whatever we're yelling,
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: because I just spine is just tingling at the embarrassment.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: I'm not going to get on a bike and yell
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: with the rest of my classmates about exercise. That's humiliating, don't.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: I'm there, I'm doing the thing that's as much as
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: you can ask for me.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: I think that's a fair, that's totally fair.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: Never tell me to yell. No, I'll yell when I
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: want to. I will scream, but not when somebody's making
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: me exercise so very good.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: What about like a picket or a protest, I.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: Won't even do it. Then. If we're you know, like
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: November twenty sixteen, we're marching down through New York, everyone's
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: yelling some club president I'm not I'm silent. I've got
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: a sign. That's all you can ask for you Yeah, great, great,
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: So no one asked me to yell in Unison. It's
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: no one should do it. It's embarrassing for everybody. Okay,
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: very good. Number two this is from someone named Jacqueline
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Gift or a curse. Misplacing your wallet, panicking that you've
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: lost it somewhere around town, and then finding it in
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: your home a few minutes later.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: Gift, Why, well, you're your moments from canceling your credit cards,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: from panicking from the the horror of potentially getting order
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: the DMV and replace your driver's license. And now you
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: don't have to retrace your moments. Oh my gosh, moments.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: You don't have to retrace your steps. What a relief.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: You've got your wallet. I once left. I used to
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: have one of those phone cases that was also a wallet.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Oh sure, sure, And I loved it. I thought it
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: was the greatest thing ever. I was obsessed with it.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: I thought I had figured out, you know, it solved
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: everything everything, Just like my tiny home, I have everything
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: in this one tiny thing. And then I was extremely
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: high in Dallas at a Starbucks on my way to
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: a Bury Manilo concert. I left it at the Starbucks
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: and didn't realize it until I went to the box
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: office to pick up my Manilo tickets and they said,
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: can I see your ID? And I was like no,
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: and thank god I'm notable. So he googled me and
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: they gave me the ticket and I went to the
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: concert thinking.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: Without that would have ruined my evening. I would have
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: gone home.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I should have gone back to Starbucks, the last place
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: you were. But the tickets were comped because I kind of.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: Know Berry Manalis, right, how do you know him?
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: From being a fan from insisting found his door staff,
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: from insisting I've been a Fanolo for many years and
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: the moment I had a monarch from of fame that
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: was my first course. And I've been to his concert
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: nearly twenty times. Wow, I'm a big fan, like legit,
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: not an un ironic Fanelo. And I'm more than a Fanallo,
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: I'm an ambassallo. And uh so I was like, well,
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: I'm not going to miss the concert. And I also
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: I think we figured out that the Starbucks was closing soon,
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: and I was like, it's not going to matter anyway,
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: I'll just call tomorrow, right, you know, But of course
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: it was gone, and and I was in Dallas, and
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: I had to fly back to New York in a
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: couple of days.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: I was caught in Dallas just a week ago. You
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: got stuck. I hate American Airlines. We've said that on
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: this podcast before, but now I'm saying it again. It
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: was a rough experience. All of their the restaurants there
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: at Dallas Fort Worth close at nine pm. Even the
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: Chilis two Chili's two Starbucks is no longer serving hot
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: food after nine o'clock. My ultimate nightmare there stuck.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Was there a lounge you could buy into? Sometimes?
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Probably? But as we discussed with the lottery, there's no
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: way I'm paying for that, right right, No, that's fair.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Continue, Okay, So anyway, I lost my phone
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: and wallet, and the easy thing to get was credit card,
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: literally on the doorstep of the place I was staying
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: the next day. That quickly, so fast? How does that happen?
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: Because they want you to spend money. It got there
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: so so quickly. I had to have a friend who
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: was staying in my apartment FedEx me my passport so
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: that I could get on a plane and The hardest thing.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: I mean, getting another driver's license was not easy, but
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: it wasn't pressing right. The hardest thing was replacing my phone,
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: because you cannot get a phone without an ID.
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: Oh, I will not.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: They will not give you without an ID.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Is that wild? That's bizarre? How does that work?
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it. And I was like, do you
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: have Google? I am known. They wouldn't have said no, sorry.
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: That won't work. Well, this was pre you being on
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: an Apple show.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: That would have helped.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: Oh, I wonder if that would have helped.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: That would have helped.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: If I was at the Apple store and I said,
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: we're colleagues, you might not realize this is what we're called.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: But I couldn't believe it. Also like I'm from Dallas,
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: I'm from I'm from Dallas. You know I'm a sort
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: of a local boy.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: Does it means nothing?
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: They had no idea who I was. They couldn't have
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: cared less at this at this.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Apple is just getting destroyed low and.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: They were rude. They were even rude about it. I
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: could I was so discouraged. It was like such an upsetting,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: discouraging moment. And I luckily I was staying with my
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: very dear friends, and they took very good care of
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: me and through the whole ordeal. But holy crap, was
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: at heart and they gave me. This is crazy. They
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: gave me one of their credit cards to use in
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: the interim, and I had to Like, I had a
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: rental car and I had to return it, and I
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: was driving without a license. I was freaking out. And
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: then I get to the airport and I'm like, oh shit,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: I have to return this with gas in it. And
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: I go to the gas station and I'm and I'm
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: using their card and it asked for a ZIP code
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: and I'm like, I'm like, what's that.
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: I don't know the zip code and I can't remember
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: how I figured it out. Eventually, Oh, I think I
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: had someone's one of their phones or something. They gave
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: me one of their phones and I was I was like, oh, yeah,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: there's a Louby's cafeteria at the end of their block.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Do you know what that is? Take the name of
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: this business.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: There's a Loubi's cafeteria at end of the block. If
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: I google the Lubies cafeteria, that will show me the
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: address and then and then I got the zip code
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: that way. It was like Lubis Cafeteria.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: Okay, what is that sidebar?
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: Luby's Cafeteria. They're in Texas. I don't think there are
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: any they're there anymore. But when I was a kid
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: in Texas, there were two cafeterias. One was Louby's and
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: one was Wyatt's. Okay, And it is a place where
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: you go and there's a long line. It's like cafeteria,
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: you know, like a school cafeteria. Sure, long line. You
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: get a tray and you go through and you take
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I want those I want this, Okra, I want the chicken.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: I want this, you know, mac and cheese or the
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: pudding or whatever. And you go down the line and
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: you get in. You go sit at these nice tables
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: and it's quite lovely. It sounds loveless, Yes, it's quite lovely.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: And there was a Loubies. It's not there anymore, but
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: there's a Louby's at the end of my friend's block.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: And that helped. God bless Louby or Loopy Luby l
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: u b Yluby Luby's. And I'm familiar with BUCkies, but
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: that's all different.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: BUCkies. I was. I was literally wearing my BUCkies pajamas
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: this morning. I love BUCkies.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: I've never been to one, but I read I feel
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: it would be a dream world for me.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: It is so cool. Yeah, BUCkies is a really and
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: I and the billboards are all over the South wherever
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: they are, And my parents live in the Austin area,
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: and I'm in Dallas a lot because that's where I
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: grew up and I have friends there, and I work
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: there sometimes, and I was and so I've driven from
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: Dallas to Austin many times. And there is a BUCkies halfway.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: It's a little more than halfway, but there are so
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: many signs that you are whipped into a frenzy. By
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: the time you get there, you are so ready for BUCkies.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: It's like it's like and some of the signs are
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: really cheeky. They're like beef turkey.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: It'll just like say right right, I.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: Just like say one of the things that they.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: Sell, what's their number one thing is I think that
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: there's like a beef jerky wall. Okay, wow, you can
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: get my dream.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: Any kind of beef jerky. There's like also can't so
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: much candy, but there's there's also I've never seen so
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: much any urinals.
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: There is throughout the store. There everywhere they're outside. You
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: can pump gas and pe at the same time. But
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: there's so many gas pumps, there's so many urinals. And
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: there's also so many freezers with ice. That's freney because
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: I think a lot of people on road trips with
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: coolers that need them right.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: And then of course, in addition to that, you can
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: get hot lunch, you can get pastries. Colatchies is a
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: big Calachis. You can get Calachies, and you can buy
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: your entire wardrobe. They've got clothing, clothing, anything for the kitchen.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: Any you would have so many doormat options. I'm telling
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: you any doormat you could possibly want. It could say
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: don't mess with Texas, sure, but it could also you
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: probably can find the bridge.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: That's the one thing that no one will ever print
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: on a product is the name Bridger. Bridges closest I'll
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: ever get, not even a bridge, bridget, no.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: Bridge it yeah, oh yeah, bridget. Well you can always
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: get like a bridget and like turn the T into
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: an R.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: That's true, it's gonna be janky looking carv it R.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: But yeah, but when I like BUCkies is the kind
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: of place where you go and you're looking through like
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: their housewares department, and you think, I want to buy
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: all new housewares and I want them all.
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: Idea that it went this.
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: Far, it's worth it. There's some small BUCkies, right that
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: aren't like that. There's smaller BUCkies that are more like
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: a really nice seven eleven. But it's sort of I mean,
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: it's like it's basically like Target meets a gas station
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: meets seven eleven. Yeah, it's a gas station.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: Well, you're saying, gift. Ultimately back to that gift, gift, gift, gift.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: It's a curse. Those moments between losing the wallet and
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: finding the wallet will aid you a million years. I
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: don't care what relief there is. At the end. You're
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: sick to your stomach, and by the time you get
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: to the wall wallet you might as well be dead. Damn.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: It's a horrible I know that there's some relief there,
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: but I'd rather die. It's a curse.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: Wow, losing the wallet at all.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: I can't. I can't lose the wallet. I can't. I
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: would rather not find the wallet. Oh, I'd rather just
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: have to start over, start a scratch, because I'm devastated,
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: beyond belief. I lost my bag in New York a
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: couple of months ago. The ten minutes of not having
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: it horrible, absolutely horrible. Age at least five years. So
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: you've missed that point.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: Damn okay.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: Number three this is from and this is a strange
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: combination of names. Two listeners have written in Casey and
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: Anthony have suggested food courts.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Are you sure it wasn't Casey Anthony.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: Her middle names? And we're just finding out Casey and
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: Anthony have written in apparently or Casey Anthony and she
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: thought that this would throw us, throw us off. It
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: didn't do much work on the fake name, but they've
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: suggested food courts gift or a curse. Food courts are
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: a gift?
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Why there's nothing like a cinnamon or a jamba juice
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: or a full on burger and fries to keep your
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: shopping experience going because I get very fatigued shopping. I'm
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: not I don't like shopping. I'm not a big shopper.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: But if if I can split up a day shopping
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: at them all, or you know, some establishment with lots
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: of shops with a meal or even a snack, or
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: even if it's just like an even if it's just
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: like a diet coke, sure it will make all the
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: difference in the world. I recently went to a food
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: court at the Gallery in Glendale and I had the
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: most delicious five guys.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: Burger and fries. Oh incredible, and a diet coke. It
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: was truly terrific.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: And it costs thirty dollars. What thirty? It was twenty
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: seven dollars.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: For a bird's airport pricing, right, what are they doing
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: over there?
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: I don't know. Is that am I just getting old?
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Or is everything more expensive now?
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: I mean things are more expensive, certainly, things have gotten
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: out of hand pricing wise, especially within food. Yeah, I
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: feel like food the food industry is kind of I
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: don't know what they're doing. The egg prices went up
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: for ten minutes, and then everybody said everything is now
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: forty dollars. But you should not be paying thirty dollars
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: at a food court five guys.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: I mean, I don't go to fast food often at all,
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: but like it used to be, you could get a
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: whole meal for five dollars, right, I.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: Mean that was sure, that was a thing okay, Well,
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: I mean sure, Michael, I.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Mean six under ten.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: But I will say ten years ago you could get
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: an eight dollars meal. I think you could get something
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: great dollars and now. But if you had said, if
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: I were to estimate how much you paid at the
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: food court, five guys, I would have said, fifteen dollars.
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: What did you order? I got a bacon cheeseburger right right,
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: and fries okay, and probably a large diet coke.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Sure, but that's that's it.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: I would say, max sixteen dollars for that. There's something
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: going on at that food court.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: Do you think they charged?
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: They must be. There's no way a free standing five
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: guys is charging somebody thirty dollars for that meal. If
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: they are, then the whole company should be shut down.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: But it's also that five guys doesn't have a value menu.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: I feel like most fast food places, you can get a.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: Combo right of course, and it's cheaper. Well it's not cheaper,
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: but the price is just combined and you don't have
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: to do the math. Is that I think that's basically
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: actually cheap. I don't think that. Well, maybe some places.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: They don't give it's everything's all a heart at five.
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: Guys, that doesn't it means nothing to me. That should
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: not be thirty dollars in and out that same meal
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: would have been eleven dollars. I know for a fact
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: because as I eat it probably twice a week, so
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: in and out my heart is going to explode.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: Still has they still have a reasonable.
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: Completely reasonable, well made and reasonable. I mean their politics
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: are probably horrible. Yeah, but if the fries and in
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: and out are not great, once you get used to them,
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: everything's fine. The burgers are terrific, excellent, and if you
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: order the fries well done, you're in a good spot.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: Oh interesting, These are the tricks people need to know.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: You can do that. Oh yeah, you can say I
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: want my fries well done.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they're happy to do it.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Oh okay, because I just like over salt them and
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: pretend like it's.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: I mean, it is ultimately just something salt delivery service.
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: I just need something to be pure salt in every meal,
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: so I don't really care what texture it is exactly.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: What would be your favor if you had to choose,
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: But any fast food is in and out what you would.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: In and out and howl and raise, which is not.
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: It's there, only have two locations in LA But it's
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: a fast food place. It's like hot Chicken. Oh yeah,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: those are the two places.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: Frat Burger, what about fast?
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: Never been to a fat Burger is really good? Is
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: it really really good? I don't even know where I
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: would go to fat.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: There's one in Los Felis.
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: Oh, kind of in the same parking lot as John's
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: the grocery store, and there's a CVS there. Yeah, there's
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: yeah in the area, but it's not fast.
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: I wouldn't say I wouldn't necessarily call Fat Burger fast.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: It feels more like a casual. You have to wait.
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: I mean they have a drive through situation. So you're
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: saying they have bad service.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess that's I guess that is what I'm saying,
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: that it's a good burger but lousy service.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: Well, I'll give you the correct answer here in a moment.
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: But I do want to say one more thing about
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: the Glendale Galleria. Yeah, I just found out they close
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: at eight pm. No, that makes no sense, that is
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: not natural for them all. I'm all as you're close
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: at nine pm, nine pm earliest, absolutely are during the holidays.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: You've got a ten or eleven o'clock. Eight pm feels
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: like small town to me.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I feel like, if it's eight pm
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: and you're in the middle, will you even make it?
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: You probably freeze, dissolve or something that makes no sense
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: to me. Eight o'clock very early nine pm. I don't know.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: Maybe it's a pandemic post pandemic sort of thing where
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: that we can't sustain them all after eight pm. But
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure the dent Tai Fung is open after
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: eight o'clock. So that makes what you're not familiar with
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: dent Taipung. No. The Dumpling Place, super Dumpling Place, wonderful,
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: almost impossible to get into. They were at the Americana.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: It's a big controversy because they moved to the Galleria.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: It was a big win for the Galley.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Oh oh, and you can get to it from the outside. Yes, yes, okay,
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: I know what you're talking about, but I've never been.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: I believe it used to be a virtual reality center
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: right there that no one went to. Turned into a restaurant. Wow,
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: great dumplings. I do like the Americana. I like the
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: American I prefer the Galleria.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: Do you like the grove.
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: I don't mind the I feel like the grove is sparse.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: They don't have enough happening at the grove. Don't you
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: think it's pretty small? It is pretty small.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: The food the Farmer's market situation is pretty great. Oh
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: the food court thing there which doesn't have they don't
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: have that. At the Americana they don't.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: The Americana you kind of have to do, almost has
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: no food. It's kind of like a cheese.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Cheesecake factory or popcorn at the movie.
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: Isn't that right?
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: Really? All you can or Mike, it is like a
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: really nice restaurants.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: Right, like the Catsuya sushi place. I don't know that
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: that qualifies as a nice restaurant, but it's like a
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: sushi place.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: I like, you know, not not like I mean, cheesecake
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: factory is perfectly nice.
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: But it's we all know what exactly what the cheesecake
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: factory literally a factory. Yes, it's there are people standing
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: in a line producing your product, horrible conditions. Okay, well
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: look I have to give you the answer. Yeah, food
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: courts are a gift.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: I love a food court.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: What I'll say, I love to go. I love a
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: hot dog on a I love them. Well, that might
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: be the only thing I like to eat in a
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: food court anymore, but there's probably something else I would
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: like to eat there. And I love the atmosphere. I
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: love the mix of smells that feels bad, and I
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: prefer them to a food hall. Are you familiar with
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: food halls? Food halls are simply food courts for millennials. Oh,
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: it's exactly a food court, except for we've started calling
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: them a food hall. Maybe they're like slightly nicer restaurants,
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: more chef driven restaurants. But they're ridiculous and I hate
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: that that it even exists. Just give me a trashy
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: food court that a teen can make me feel uncomfortable.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: And Casey and Anthony have written in given us the suggestion.
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: Thank you, Casey. And and is probably her grandmother's name.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: It's a beautiful middle name, full.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: Name Andrew, grandmother grandma Andrew.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: Well you two out of three, not bad, not bad,
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: not bad, not bad, not bad. I could have I
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: could have done better, but I could. You can always
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: do better. We can always do better, and that's one
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: of the nice things about life.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: Do you like Grand Central Market? Oh?
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: I don't mind. I went there a lot during my
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: jury duty trial thing where they were trying to pick
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: jury duty. Yeah, and I ate a lot at they
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: have a good Korean place.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and amazing place or what and then a savch play.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: So they have all different kinds of phenomenal.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: I've had neither of those.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: An egg slut, Oh, of.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: Course, egg slutt. That's the original egg slut. Egg slott.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: I'm the kind of.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I like saying it, but.
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: Yeah, but the place I like, I think we've seen
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: it's seen better days.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Also, I think it should be called eggs sex worker.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: Eggs sex worker is much catchier. It's time to get
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: with the times. Egg slut. Okay, it's time for the
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: final segment of the podcast. This is called I said
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: no emails. Yes, people write into I said no gifts
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: at gmail dot com, absolutely desperate for answers. Will you
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: help me answer a question? Yeah, okay, let's get into
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: the document here. This says dear Oh, speaking of dear
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: Bridget and predictably disrespectful guests. So I don't know if
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: that was purposeful or what, but this person is just
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: kind of getting at me from the start. I need
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: help for some background. My now fiance and I got
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: together just about six months before lockdown. As you can
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: into it, we survived and thrived, but as a result
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: of our honeymoon phase continuing into the pandemic, we had
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: extra time and money to go way over the top
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: with gifts for birthdays. As examples, I bought him a
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: much needed Martin acoustic guitar. He followed that with a
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: mini album of five of my favorite songs that he
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: recorded and played every instrument on. I came back at
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: that with having a dozen of our friends record their
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: versions of his favorite songs and learned how to mix
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: to create an album. Oh my God, what's happening here?
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: He came back at that with quite literally individually illustrating
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: the thirty two things he loves about me? Oh what
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: about me? For my thirty second birthday. It goes on,
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: but I'd hate to bore you. Won We've got bad
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: news for you. Last year we called a birthday gift
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: truths as things continued to escalate and we just couldn't
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: outdo each other. Yeah, this could have led to you
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: could escalate to murder. They would have killed each other.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: In October of twenty twenty four, he will be turning forty,
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: and I feel that I must have a gift of grandiosity,
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: especially since we just did cards last year. He loves
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: music and art most of all the Tim and Eric universe,
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: and is really quite a brilliant, humble and unassuming art professor.
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: I'm willing to splurge on something within reason, but can't
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: come up with a new idea. I've done the cameo thing,
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: gotten him an outdoor pizza oven, a vacation period. Help
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: me come up with something new. Best regards Aaron, what
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: is this couple doing? Wow, the amount of things they've done,
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: It's like a lifetime of like I.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: Know, I think, I think for his fortieth birthday she
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: should dump him.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: Absolutely get rid of this looser. He drew some pictures
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: and recorded some songs that you had to act like
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: you liked. I know you're getting him a vacation, an
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: outdoor pizza oven. This guy's a dirt bag. I wonder
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: who she booked on cameo for it? Oh interesting, and
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: she kind of gave us no details about the music
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: or anything. Who could have possibly been? You feel like
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: the guy from Sugar Ray does a lot of cameos.
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: What's his name? Mark McGrath. I'm assuming it was Mark McGrath.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: Let's go over that she got.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: She's willing to spend a lot of money a pizza,
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: an outdoor pizza oven.
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: How much does that cost. It's a huge thing.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: That's expensive, right, it's got to be I mean, that's
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: a brick and you know it must be right.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: I mean, maybe my knowledge of a pizza oven is limited,
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: but I'm at I'm picturing one of those giant igloo shapes.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: It's gotta be huge. You don't just pick that up. No,
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: Low's that's something that you have to like have I
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: don't think maybe you do. I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: That's something.
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: Assuming she spent thirty thousand dollars on that. Wow, the
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: vacation it feels like. And the pandemic. It's twenty twenty,
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: this has been four years of time. Yeah, the amount
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: of this is hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts.
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: Let's assume this couple, she's got to get out of
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: the get him out of the picture.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: They don't there's no mention of they're not married.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Well, if they are married, she should divorce and get
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: all of this back.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I think she should like go out with a bang,
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: she should go get pregnant by another man and then say,
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: happy fortieth.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: I'm naming the child after you. The perfect gift. He
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: didn't have to put in any work.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: And he doesn't have to raise the child because it's
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: somebody else's. He can leave, she can leave. And but
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: what did you get for?
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: Did you?
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: Are you forty?
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: No? But Jim's about to turn a few years from fifty,
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: a couple of years from fifty, and he never does
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: anything for his birthdays. But he keeps threatening that he
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: wants to do something big for his birthday. And I
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: don't even know how that's going to manifest itself because
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: he never does anything for his birthday. What is he
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: going to want?
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: What is Jimmy Smoogoola gonna want for his fiftieth?
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: He doesn't ever want anything. It's he's a very hard
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: person to get a gift for. I guess some sort
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: of event, a party, yeah, where people come and celebrate him.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: I think, well, he loves he loves like like good desserts.
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: He loves it. He loves a good meal. So I
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: think cheesecake factory.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: I think it's cheesecake factory at the Americana.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: That's always the ultimate gift. Jim would say, can we
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: please just go somewhere where we don't get a number?
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: He says that to me because that's so funny. So
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: that's what That's how I'll spoiled Jim on his fiftieth.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: But this person for my fortieth was in the pandemic
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: and got me a few things, but he got me
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: a vintage Berry Manelow shirt.
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: Oh that's a really good you know that from what
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: decade would you say it was?
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: I think it was eighties.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: Wow, So that's a real that's a stunning, s.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: Really cute shirt. Fit me perfectly, it was, it was.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: That was a really really good gift. And for him
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: I got and his nephew, our nephew and his sister
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: helped help. We got him a video, a compilation of
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: everybody that loves him.
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: He's very sweet. That's a yeah, end in tears sort
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: of thing.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly if he if he had tears.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: He's emotionless. He's emotionless. So he didn't get a very cold,
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: cruel person.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: Yeah. So yeah, like that's that's tough. That's she's she's
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: really outdone.
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: Herself. She's she's painted herself into a corner where all
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: she can do is have an affair and get pregnant
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: and move on with her life and ditch this loser.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: I think that's it, and take his pizza up and yeah,
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: take back the vacation. However you can do that, demand
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: the rights to the cameo. Uh, and then it's perfect.
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: But if he's an art history professor, I suppose you
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: could do. You know, I was in the stage version
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: of the Da Vinci Code.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: Oh I love this. I know, I'm surprisingly on stage.
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: That's where I was. That's what it was born to be.
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: I sort of thought that's what the bulk of this
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: interview would be about. But it's okay that.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: That episode we'll have a slight music and then get
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: into episode two. Dan Brown.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: Dan Dan is actually really cool.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: House, I hope. So he's got a lot of money.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: He has so much money, and he's done really well.
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: He's done a really good job with it, like he
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: you know, sometimes he's like like really really rich people.
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: You think, you know, what are you even doing with it?
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: Like, oh, Constant, I'm like, oh, you get to have
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: all that money and we're making horrible choices he has.
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: He had us over his house and it is a
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: really cool house. Very Dan Brown. Anyway, one of the
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: closing night gifts or opening night gifts that someone gave
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: all of us was a Mona Lisa card, but instead
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: of the Mona Lisa face, it was our own face.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: And I wonder as an art historian if he might
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: get a kick out of something like that.
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: That's not a bad idea, a commission of really accurate. Yeah,
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: it's what is the Mona Lisa oil? Well, I can
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: assume oil on whatever Mona Lisa has done the original
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: medium and of his face, or.
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: What about like what about like a portrait of him
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: in the style of Van Goal?
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: Oh interest, you know, like all Like I mean, I
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: think what we're kind of doing without realizing it is
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: setting up a divorce because he's not gonna like it
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: and she's gonna feel mad.
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: I want them to separate.
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: Yes, you're just trying to get these stupid part as
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: quickly as possible.
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: Something to mock. I want her to do something to
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: say I don't respect you.
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: This is all but a lie. Well, Aaron, let's see Aaron.
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sorry you're talking to you were.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: Well, Aaron, I write this long to lose my mind
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: on the episode. No, Aaron has so many options here. Yeah,
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: cheesecake factory, baby painting. You can't go wrong, can't go wrong,
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: absolutely cannot go wrong. On a fortieth, you've got till October. Yeah,
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: you know to do all of those.
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you could do them all right, but but you
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: know you could start now and you could have the
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: baby by October.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: Oh my god, the baby could be entering high school
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: really resent already? Yes, perfect, well, Michael, we answered the
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: question perfectly.
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: Great, I think so.
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: And now I have this measuring to which I'm just
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: gonna go crazy with measure thing. I'm going to know
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: the measurement of everything in my home.
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: Anything within three feet.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: You can see your feet, but you can also go
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: you know, then you do three feet, and then you
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: just keep your finger there and then do another three feet.
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: That's right. That's the beauty of the tape.
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: That's the beauty of tape and space. Uh and uh,
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: I've just had a wonderful time with you here today.
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: Thank you for being here and listener, the podcast is over.
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: You've got to find something else to do. I'm not
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: giving you any suggestions. I'm leaving you on your own,
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: get out of here, goodbye. I love you. I said,
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: No Gifts is an exactly right production. It's produced by
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: our dear friend Analise Neilson, and it's beautifully mixed by
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: Ben Holliday. And we couldn't do it without our guest booker,
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: Patrick Kottner. The theme song, of course, could only come
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: from a miracle worker, Amy Man. You must follow the
