- 0:00Hello, and welcome to another episode of the Christian read
- 0:03podcast. But it's not just any episode
- 0:05today. We have good friend of the show.
- 0:07Good personal friend, me me. Is that I can't speak.
- 0:10His name is Calamity. Hatcher animals, Jack Hatcher,
- 0:13welcome to the show. You're sick appearance on the
- 0:16show. Welcome, is, is it's my first
- 0:19appearances, actually. I was a wee.
- 0:21Drop the Calamity. Oh, oh well.
- 0:23Okay, it was kind of random but we won't.
- 0:28I say we like theirs. Multiple people behind the
- 0:31season, I decided that everyone knows me as Hatcher that
- 0:35everyone in my life, cause me Hatcher.
- 0:37I really, I was like, well, why am I distinguishing between the
- 0:40two? Because this channel is just me
- 0:43in a nutshell. So let's shake Browning.
- 0:46The only thing I didn't realize it is after doing this, there
- 0:49are a lot of other hatches on YouTube, and it makes me harder
- 0:52to find. And so there wasn't the best
- 0:55idea in that regard, but I like it.
- 0:56I think it's just more open system.
- 0:58My assistant Leon And that's about the time I was looking
- 1:01for. It's interesting with I believe
- 1:04either we spoke about what I think we actually spoke about
- 1:06this. The last time you run this on
- 1:08the shoe and you took it about kind of rebranding and moving
- 1:11slightly away from the Sonic story.
- 1:13And that's always going to be a big part of what you are about
- 1:16what you enjoy and stuff, but you would sort of saying, like,
- 1:18you want to play a lot of different things, online and
- 1:21demonstrate you can do other things and, you know, I think
- 1:24it's the logical move really. You've got to do it sometimes.
- 1:28Yeah. I mean I will always love Sonic
- 1:31the Hedgehog. It's you know, it's length
- 1:34discourse of my 29-year life, you know, it's completely
- 1:39without me even realizing it made the foundations and led me
- 1:42the entire way through my life to create a new YouTube channel
- 1:46to Now give me have in my dream job and it's crazy.
- 1:51But I mean, you know me, on a personal level, there is a lot
- 1:56more stuff. I'm into like, you know, I'm as
- 2:01big a Marvel fan as I am a Sonic fan.
- 2:04I love Kingdom Hearts. I love Avatar.
- 2:06I love D, sing and I started these the movies.
- 2:09But I will be getting some the channel at some point but like
- 2:11there's lots of things like that.
- 2:14I love I definitely gets talked about like, for instance, what
- 2:16would you say my favorite TV show is Oh God, I'll get
- 2:22actually there's two that take the top place together.
- 2:25Right now that's help right now. Yeah it's how it's been out for
- 2:29a while. How long as they see both of
- 2:31them will say the past 20 years, both of them.
- 2:37Supernatural. Now you Phi, Phi not, you might
- 2:44get it so because it's completely light.
- 2:47Left field really nice. Oh yes, you know that man that
- 3:02they're smashing is still come on, it's nice to see them.
- 3:05Come back and blow everything up with Disney anymore and he's
- 3:08like two number ones worldwide. I was like okay yeah cool I say
- 3:12this much weight there solo stuff is really good.
- 3:16Yeah I enjoyed that sort of stuff.
- 3:18But I'll give you the answer going to my two favorite TV
- 3:21shows of all time. Ah How I Met Your Mother and
- 3:27these are not things. You would think of me
- 3:28necessarily from looking at my channel, I can work.
- 3:32Okay, fair enough. I was gonna say knowing you, I
- 3:35think How I Met Your Mother does make sense.
- 3:37But maybe there's a shout out to my friend, Ben will freeze L
- 3:40friend of ours who started this with me a teenager's oh really?
- 3:45We were both obsessed. With How I Met Your Mother when
- 3:49we were teenagers. And it's just stuck with me ever
- 3:51since explains a lot about been just kind of got into it.
- 4:04I love it. I think it's a fantastic show as
- 4:06well. It's not kind of one of the few
- 4:09remaining things that keeps my hopes up of eventually finding
- 4:14somebody. It's yeah.
- 4:17But, you know II, it's literally, I always say to
- 4:21people like my life story is, is kind of like tents, not like
- 4:27event.prevent b4b, but like, same general, like my I just
- 4:32have a lot of Ted in me. Then I've come to realize as an
- 4:35adult like as I've grown up in my life.
- 4:37I am an amalgamation of all three main characters.
- 4:42Like I have a lot of Martial attributes are not particularly
- 4:47Tool or anything like that. But I have a lot of, like,
- 4:50martial arts abuse in like my my emotional side and things like
- 4:53that. And I have a lot of Barney and
- 4:56sense of my humor. I'm not saying that I am play a
- 5:01player King of New York City, but you know, like I have my
- 5:06Barney isms. I have my, my humor that I'll
- 5:09insert into a situation that's like, oh my God, you know, why
- 5:12would Jesus Christ? Why would you say that?
- 5:15But also, you're laughing at the same time, like, Yeah, so I have
- 5:18a lot of things like that and yeah, I think that's why I love
- 5:22it so much. I think as I've grown up as a
- 5:24person, I've taken aspects from those characters that I've
- 5:29watched all these years on repeat and kind of amalgamate
- 5:33them into myself. So, yeah, they're like I have it
- 5:36back to the original point. I was making I have a lot of
- 5:39other interests that I feel deserves some time and don't get
- 5:45me wrong, this is huge. If the Sonic we just had some
- 5:48new car engines, which I'm really enjoying.
- 5:50It's the collection of Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3.
- 5:54And I really would recommend if, you know, anyone out there
- 5:57hasn't played these games for the first time, one wants to try
- 5:59them out or you remember paying them back in the day and you
- 6:01think, oh, I'd like to play them on by modern consoles.
- 6:03Give them a go. I'm not paid by, Sega to say
- 6:05this, just just this is my opinion.
- 6:09We have Sonic Frontiers this year which is the open world
- 6:11opens own 3D Sonic game. So then we'll be a lot to cover
- 6:15on the channel. We've also got new Mind games
- 6:17that year. I really want to get into those
- 6:20and things are. So yeah, that diversification is
- 6:25still hasn't quite happened yet. Like it's still this.
- 6:28The video is I put up my Sonic videos because I don't have as
- 6:32much time for Content as I would like recently because work has
- 6:36just been so crazy. But I do have a big Sonic
- 6:41project coming out this year which obviously I think what
- 6:44we'll talk about that later I guess.
- 6:47We can talk about it now if you want okay, I won.
- 6:50Last time I was here, I mentioned that I had a project.
- 6:55I was working on a big Sonic project and I am thrilled to say
- 7:02That you will be getting a teaser.
- 7:05Pretty much around the time. This releases of you exactly
- 7:08what that's going to be assistance.
- 7:10Please, here's what I'm gonna, I was gonna drop this clear on the
- 7:16day of release and then when attached the teaser tip.
- 7:21Well, know, whatever works. I mean, okay, the actual show
- 7:25will come later because I have plans for this show.
- 7:28Okay. Yeah.
- 7:29Okay, yeah. But when it comes to this
- 7:31specific thing. Yeah.
- 7:34And and the yeah, isn't it sometime?
- 7:36It should be. Yes.
- 7:38End of this month. As many of, you know, I've quite
- 7:42enjoyed delving into voice acting in my shorts and things
- 7:45like that. And I will be voicing every male
- 7:52character. In a re-creation of What Not
- 7:56Recreation. How do I put this?
- 7:58I will be dubbing every cutscene from a certain Sonic game.
- 8:03No, way officially for Sega. No novice.
- 8:06I got another saying. This is just for my channel.
- 8:09This is the big project I've been working on and not for
- 8:12Sega. I like there are things.
- 8:14I'm going to be going to take of all.
- 8:15We will talk about that. It's kind of that I is coming,
- 8:19but I will be voicing. Sonic 06.
- 8:23The Infamous, Sonic, 06, and its entirety.
- 8:27All of the male characters in there.
- 8:30Although it's by me. Sonic Tails, Knuckles.
- 8:33Eggman Shadow Silver, I'm gonna voice Omega because he's a
- 8:38robot. So you guys, you know, doesn't
- 8:42really need to be there. Microsoft Sam would Buzz that
- 8:44for them. So yeah, that's going to be
- 8:47coming T's of should roll after this made me.
- 8:51If you're seeing this clip by the time to watch this video,
- 8:53Video the the teacher should be out.
- 8:55So yeah, look forward to that. A lot of work is going into
- 8:59this. This is the most ambitious
- 9:01project I've ever done and I'm really looking forward to
- 9:04sharing it with used in a you know like head over to YouTube
- 9:07channel. Subscribe, he'll be notified.
- 9:10The second it goes up because I've really excited about this.
- 9:13I'm really excited about this and I'll confounding this now,
- 9:16which you won't get in the teaser there.
- 9:19I will be following the three or the four story structure.
- 9:23So, First story, we will be going through is Sonic's, so you
- 9:26will hear me voice in Sonic and Mario characters and their the
- 9:29second will be going through his silver.
- 9:32And then third party has to be my boy Shadow.
- 9:37I've deliberately save that to the last one so I guarantee this
- 9:40series gets finished. It's like save your favorite one
- 9:43till last so like you're more dedicated to a record and edit
- 9:49that one than any other one in there.
- 9:51He's and then of course, we'll have the last story.
- 9:53That happens in the game, the final story act.
- 9:56So yeah, super excited to be announcing, this car will if you
- 10:00guys the to hear it. I just so excited.
- 10:04Honestly, so so excited about this.
- 10:05I'm always wanted to do something like this and this
- 10:09year let's make some different content.
- 10:10Let's go fill out. And you know do like how long is
- 10:14it? I think it's like Nearly three
- 10:19hours worth of content. So yeah, very excited for this
- 10:25one and I hope you guys are too. So yeah, it's announced.
- 10:29I'm really happy for you man. Congratulations.
- 10:31Thank you. I can I can just I can only
- 10:33imagine how that must feel. I mean, it's awesome.
- 10:39It's a dream come true to be able to voice these characters
- 10:42and whether you think I can do it.
- 10:44Well or not. that's up to you, but The old boot, you will know
- 10:50when you watch it, regardless of, whether you think it's good
- 10:52or bad, is I have a hell of a good time, recording it and
- 10:56putting it together, so there's nothing to it.
- 11:00You know. And that's as I said, it may, it
- 11:02may not be particularly good. I'm certainly no Roger.
- 11:05Craig Smith or Jason Griffith but I'm having a hell of a lot
- 11:10of fun doing, so I'm calling it swells.
- 11:13I think there's a very, very high probability that you will
- 11:18end up in some shape or form of capacity working with Sega On.
- 11:27A similar kind of project in the future.
- 11:29I can see it. I can see I is a dream of mine
- 11:32it's but the thing is it's storytelling because who better
- 11:37to, you know, voice these characters and be involved in
- 11:41this kind of stuff. Then someone who's a big fan is
- 11:44actually passionate about it. I mean, from a marketing
- 11:46business perspective, it kind of just such a great story to tell,
- 11:50you know, it's yeah, exactly. So yeah, that is a dream.
- 11:59Something I've actually said to people recently is like one day,
- 12:02I will voice Sonic the Hedgehog in some official capacity, and
- 12:06it's like it before. I was laugh that off, but
- 12:12considering everything that's happened with me working at Sega
- 12:15and everything, like the impossible becoming possible.
- 12:17Just yeah, I do. Anything is in reach now.
- 12:21That's what I mean. Nothing's gonna stop me.
- 12:23Obviously, we spoke coffee. Which will remain off are
- 12:27conversation. But what I will say on that is
- 12:30that, you know, for someone like myself, looking at you and
- 12:34watching your kind of career trajectory, it makes me at
- 12:39least. Keep believing that, you know,
- 12:41things are possible. Yeah.
- 12:43Because I'm very much in the same.
- 12:45Well, I'm well-known nowhere near where you are.
- 12:48I'm just desperately throwing stuff out, hoping something will
- 12:52stick it's not that. Hey, it Is What It Is, Well
- 12:55badly. But yeah, I'm not so sure.
- 12:58But what I will say is it's inspiring to watch people such
- 13:01as yourself and it's really cool to see because it's like, Jack
- 13:06is a guy that really deserves this and it's really, really
- 13:11nice to see that in life. Yeah, it's just I think that,
- 13:14you know, You want to see everyone succeed in life, but
- 13:18there are particular people that you really want to see succeed.
- 13:20Because you know what? They've been through in life
- 13:23challenges and obstacles. They face and stuff.
- 13:25And also just like the passion that you have for this, you
- 13:29know, like you really love doing.
- 13:31It's not like if you were doing it wouldn't be a job to you.
- 13:34It would be like yeah, even your current role that you're doing
- 13:37right now is, you know, like there's all these really cool
- 13:41things I've seen, like, you know, the fact that you take a
- 13:44photo every single day They of just giant, massive life-size
- 13:49Sonic model, that's in your office.
- 13:51Yes, sir. It is really sweet.
- 13:52It's basically Jack's taking a photo every single day.
- 13:57With Sonic 21-day show his future kids, just for this.
- 14:01It's beautiful. You know, that was inspired by
- 14:03Ted Mosby as well. Like that right there?
- 14:07That was like say how I met the icon, the hero and the yeah, I
- 14:14love doing that. And Joe I thought about I'm
- 14:17probably going to make myself an instant or Twitter or Facebook
- 14:20page for that real purpose of pasting those because I think
- 14:27Sonic fans might find that entertaining, you know, he's
- 14:30like people a lot of people have like really spoke to me about
- 14:33how kind of Folsom is. Is it is and then there was a
- 14:36time when I wasn't going to do it anymore as well.
- 14:38We got 250 and I've been here in like a few things that people
- 14:43have been saying about me and regards to Sonic, the were very
- 14:45positive and all that kind of thing.
- 14:46And I was kind of important roles that we got 250.
- 14:50It's cool. I don't need to keep spamming
- 14:53all of my Facebook friends with this same selfie every day with
- 14:56a slight variation. Normally, and what I'm wearing
- 14:58and that's about it, but people just kind of flooded in on that
- 15:04and so, Now you keep posting it. So I keep posting it and we all
- 15:09went very close to 100 though. We're going to hit 130 C then
- 15:15the next month or while probably two months, we're going to hit
- 15:19the 100 Mark. So yeah.
- 15:20I'm going to start sharing that out with making that like a
- 15:24maybe a Facebook page and Instagram or something like
- 15:26that. Yeah, I'm for it.
- 15:29But that's, you know, the great thing that I can say about
- 15:32savior as a company is it's not one of those stay in your lane
- 15:38companies like iím. It help desk.
- 15:41My my primary job is to help with all it Solutions in the
- 15:45office and it's something I love doing.
- 15:48I've loved working 94 near the past, five years.
- 15:52Now it's I've previously I was working in the VFX the industry
- 15:58now. Julie, I was actually building
- 16:00some PCS for Sega through my old company and things like that and
- 16:04it's just it's something I love doing.
- 16:07But then at the same time I am having weekly meetings, with
- 16:14people giving them Summit Community updates.
- 16:17On what I'm seeing out there from the community.
- 16:20I have been quoted by the head of Sonic team and and I know I
- 16:27was quoted because As I use the words snarky and cynical which
- 16:32are not native Japanese words like there's be completed,
- 16:37completely honest, there they are, they are quite Americanized
- 16:41maybe even more British than words.
- 16:44And then you know, I pass on those notes and then three
- 16:47months later. The head of Sonic team is saying
- 16:49snarky and cynical when referring to Sonic and on my I
- 16:54just want to percent sure I've just go quieted and it's just
- 16:58it's great. Like say the provided me a
- 17:01review code or something Origins because they want they wanted me
- 17:05to put a review out and I really, you know, can't thank
- 17:08them enough and I know I will be getting a review code for Sonic
- 17:12Frontiers this year so I'll be able to get my review out you
- 17:15know for the Embargo like all the big boy YouTubers and you
- 17:19know they know put that I'm going to twitchcon.
- 17:22Next week on what you choose. Well, by the time this comes
- 17:25out, I would have been at twitchcon, bime, and flying out
- 17:28on Tuesday, to Amsterdam. And I'm there till the following
- 17:32Monday, because Sagan want me there, I'm doing the, it support
- 17:36their, you know, setting the booth up all the PCS for the
- 17:38streamers and the just normal game is to come and play.
- 17:41But after that, you know, one I'm probably going to do a
- 17:44little stream on the Savior computers and that will be Then
- 17:50bre cost on Sayers, official Twitter account, so that'll be
- 17:55awesome. And then I'm going to get to
- 17:58walk around and talk to Sonic fans.
- 18:01Well, then some weeks not even going to be there, but I've been
- 18:03showcasing Soni Sonic games to this.
- 18:05We've got a fantastic step games that we will be showing there.
- 18:08You can play age, but I just be talking to people about them and
- 18:10so I can just walking around and be like, hey guys, you know,
- 18:14what do you love about these games?
- 18:15And what I know is fantastic as well.
- 18:17I'm going to give her a shout out.
- 18:19I will Sprout whose name I can't actually tell you because she
- 18:28wants to go, but they'll Sprout. Do you know who that is?
- 18:32Someone going to school? If I chatted to you right now is
- 18:35I'm going to come up in the recording.
- 18:39I don't know. No, that's fine.
- 18:43Because I don't want to say her name out loud and just never
- 18:46tried this before and during, you know, oh okay, interesting
- 18:52chirrup. She's a fantastic streamer the
- 18:54following her. Wow.
- 18:56Really, it's shaving cream? Yeah, I've been watching over
- 18:58the course of a lockdown up till now.
- 19:00Grow a channel and we got back in contact through, I think it
- 19:03is Instagram. Oh, that's cool.
- 19:04And then I've tried to support her through her and she
- 19:06supported me through his rib, really cool.
- 19:08And I've seen some details Yeah, hoodie.
- 19:13But I haven't seen her since Secondary School time.
- 19:15She's gonna be a church from. So I'm going to finally get my
- 19:18reunions with her. She's got a fix on something
- 19:21called that, she's got a photo of me from school that I'm
- 19:24desperate to get. And I asked her for a while back
- 19:27but I don't know she, I think she forgot it's a picture of
- 19:29when we went. This is so sorry random but I do
- 19:32go low. We know this now just sit for
- 19:34the people listening and watching their below, what's he
- 19:37talking about? So this last story high school
- 19:40so do you remember here a camp? Faintly.
- 19:44They linger. Okay, so you're right cam
- 19:48basically our school. You went to camping in the woods
- 19:52for like three or four days and nice camping in the woods.
- 19:56Yeah it was nice. It's nice.
- 19:57It's fun. She's here.
- 19:58Seven was France. Wasn't it was south of France?
- 20:02I don't think it will the rich kids when they
- 20:14never went skiing. Did you go skiing?
- 20:19What? This is gonna cost you about 2
- 20:24grams? Yeah, I remember bless my mom.
- 20:28I'm Amber. And I knew that we wouldn't be
- 20:30able to afford it. But I just asked anyway and I'd
- 20:34asked for everything I said, oh can I get music lessons are
- 20:36sorry. Chris can afford it.
- 20:38Can I get this sorry, we can't do it and I like believe me,
- 20:43like if my mom could have sent me there, she would have like,
- 20:45she's amazing. But yeah, I asked about skiing,
- 20:50which I think is a bit dumb for me at the time to ask that, but
- 20:55I don't know. I guess I was kind of hoping
- 20:57maybe it was possible and Miss 100% of the shots.
- 21:00You don't take Well I think I think I told her how much it was
- 21:05that I seem to recall issues and slide.
- 21:07No there's no way but really but she's really sweet about it like
- 21:11you know yeah it was a difficult one to be able to swing that the
- 21:18sorry. You're right.
- 21:19Castles be right cam. Yeah.
- 21:22So she's got a photo of me with like at the time I had I don't
- 21:27even know what to call it. I've always had long hair, but
- 21:31it was like long Ashish medium car.
- 21:34I know it like the emo Diemer you.
- 21:36I was cut. Oh yeah.
- 21:38When did I not have any money? We were born that way.
- 22:00And she just went on and on and on about it and Tulsa.
- 22:04OK, fine. I'm just going to essentially
- 22:05cosplay as Gerard Way and that's a little eyeliner and you don't
- 22:11convincingly. I one point I did actually look
- 22:14quite a lot like him. I think, I'm, I seem to remember
- 22:16that. I seem to remember that actually
- 22:19see. I see, I was in a weird spot
- 22:21with my mom has like, You get this haircut.
- 22:25Oh no, your you are ginger deal with it.
- 22:28What your mom said it was? Yeah, see how it works.
- 22:32And then it was like oh yeah. But that was No, I thought it
- 22:45very dark brown because I want to like take both Drake and Josh
- 22:50and already kind of had the haircut so I just thought I'd it
- 22:54all down and it was it was very much a bit pale for them.
- 22:58I've got being a sore throat, I'm sure you've had it black,
- 23:00maybe red. No, no.
- 23:04I've never had black uyuni. I did like brown with very blond
- 23:10on top, and then pink on top of that.
- 23:13That's my favorite hat. We feel, that's awesome.
- 23:15I did. I look straight out the Myspace
- 23:17senior, but I loved it. Those were the days.
- 23:32Basically, I had like blond highlights that time, and people
- 23:36used to call me bumblebee at school, which was hilarious.
- 23:40And there's a picture of me apparently, like, sitting and
- 23:43she's got it. And I just thought that's
- 23:45amazing. I'd love to get my hands on
- 23:46that. Yes.
- 23:48Yeah, because one thing is that I don't have as as many photos
- 23:51as I'd like of, when I was younger.
- 23:54I guess I just didn't think to save or not.
- 23:57I think I seem to recall that I lost a USB drive or I lost files
- 24:01on the USB and I lost a lot of stuff and I'm really good
- 24:04brother, which is one of the reasons why.
- 24:05Now I take photos of the time wherever I got chance whenever
- 24:09someone takes a photo of me and us together I'm like give me
- 24:14that. Give me that save it.
- 24:15So. Yeah, and it's it's amazing.
- 24:17It's like for instance, I've got a lot of photos of my time when
- 24:20I lived in Estonia and I recently went through them
- 24:23because I cut, this is really sad and pathetic, but just a
- 24:25little bit of a thing about me. So I like to have like, a
- 24:30changing screensaver on my Peters and I've got two
- 24:33monitors, so they show different things.
- 24:35So, I have a mixture of, like, things that I screenshot, like
- 24:38things. I don't know, marvel Star Wars,
- 24:41pictures that I find pretty and nice.
- 24:44And then there's a lot of like, images of places.
- 24:48I've been to and stuff like that.
- 24:50So like sometimes I'll get random pictures of like a Road
- 24:52or somewhere in the wilderness and Estonia come up and stuff.
- 24:55And it's it's it first. What blows my mind that that
- 24:58even happened feels like so long ago now like a different life.
- 25:01Yeah, and Only. I'm very like nostalgic and
- 25:05sappy and like for about the past and stuff.
- 25:07And so now I cling onto that you know like really heavy a lot and
- 25:12take as many photos as possible just met.
- 25:15Yeah, I get that. I mean recently I just keep
- 25:18looking through my La photos like constantly because I swear
- 25:23to God man. Like if you're a YouTuber and
- 25:25you go to La, it's just like this is what I need to be like
- 25:29what am I doing? Why am I going back to London?
- 25:31By of all MGK, paying the, my headphones going going down
- 25:36highways, I'm like, yeah, okay, this is, this is the life.
- 25:39I was meant to have. I'm literally, I feel the same
- 25:42as you right now in the sense that like I'm at a point in my
- 25:45life where like a, I've been in Manchester enough about two and
- 25:49a half years, nearly three years and my life follows this
- 25:52pattern. Where every ever since.
- 25:54My gosh, I turned 21 every three years.
- 25:58My life changes in a big way. Okay.
- 26:01Okay, so between so, when I 21 went to UNI, okay, down 24,
- 26:08finish unit, right? Yeah.
- 26:10And then went to Estonia for three years.
- 26:13Okay yeah, back obviously the end of that three years would
- 26:16have been 2020. Now, next year 2023 that will be
- 26:25three years in Manchester and I'll also be turning 30 this
- 26:29that year some said okay. Oh my God, I'm old sorry.
- 26:35So up man. Yeah it doesn't feel it.
- 26:37Does it but yeah, why. It doesn't it doesn't.
- 26:39Anyway, it does for Chelsea. I feel I feel like that kind of
- 26:44like I'm ready to kind of go anywhere and do anything.
- 26:47You know. I don't know.
- 26:48Don't have kids. I don't have a partner don't
- 26:50have any responsibilities. The only responsibilities I have
- 26:53or just make sure that the rent is paid.
- 26:56And I'm somehow able to live other than that, there's a lot
- 26:59of opportunity. So I'm trying to take as many
- 27:02opportunities as possible and risks and Etc.
- 27:04But I genuinely don't know where to go.
- 27:07Like I think if someone said to me tomorrow, like you want to
- 27:09move to LA? I'd be like, why not?
- 27:12Let's just try, I mean. Yeah.
- 27:14What do I really have to lose at this point?
- 27:16Like, no, I'm with you on that. Like, That's the beautiful thing
- 27:20about that this kind of lifestyle that we're doing as
- 27:24well, but this content creation life.
- 27:26Stopped in particular, it can go anywhere.
- 27:29They could lead to any point. I'm like, obviously like he's
- 27:33got the most subscribers of any individual person on YouTube as
- 27:36opposed to a corporation, but I look at PewDiePie like
- 27:39swedish-born lived in Brighton for a very good period of his
- 27:44life and now he's moved to Tokyo no wife.
- 27:48Yeah, he's like me what? I don't know if it was
- 27:50necessarily Tokyo and Japan. By think it might be somewhere,
- 27:53just outside of Tokyo but he's moved there with his wife and
- 27:58it's crazy where this life can lead you.
- 28:01So this life that we live in the same thing that we've got all
- 28:03our G, fuel, flake response, ships around flavors, and
- 28:05although, I've never, I'm so I so like, I, I really Envy you.
- 28:10But like, in the best possible way, I always use that worked.
- 28:12Well, because when you say well, Envy is the good one, isn't it?
- 28:16Jealousies the bad one but envies the good one because it's
- 28:18Like, you know that, you know, envies the bad one, no jealousy
- 28:23is the bad one. Because jealousy me, his Envy,
- 28:26the MV is one of the seven deadly sins.
- 28:28Doesn't it? Where it's jealousy isn't hard?
- 28:31And I feel like an idiot know. I always thought that MV was I'm
- 28:33not sure I'm questioning this myself.
- 28:34It might hit my head. I always thought that it was
- 28:37more like you, appreciate and you're slightly jealous but not
- 28:40like in a hateful because I think like gently you don't want
- 28:43to be jealous of other people because everyone has a different
- 28:47life that you know. Like it's there's different
- 28:50circumstances to where someone's got where they are today.
- 28:53Like, I look at your life and, you know, I know you on a
- 28:56personal level and I know obviously I don't know
- 28:59everything about what you've been through saying the last 10
- 29:02years, because we just haven't really spoken much in that time.
- 29:04Yeah, we reconnected later in life and that's fine.
- 29:07That's just life. You know there's yeah, yeah I
- 29:10don't think there's anyone. I really kept up with from
- 29:12school and now then against them is just you move on you you know
- 29:16whatever right. But when we did reconnect and
- 29:20you know, I think back to when we were at school together and I
- 29:24saw some of the hardships you went through then, and then, you
- 29:27know, I see like how well you're doing now.
- 29:29Like it's it's the main thing that comes to my head is I'm
- 29:33just I'm just happy for you and it's just nice to see.
- 29:37And, of course, like it's very, for me, it's difficult not to
- 29:42be. To wish that I was in the
- 29:45similar spot to people such as yourself and other people that I
- 29:48know that are doing well, but at the same time, you know, I am
- 29:51very happy for those people, like, I think the worst thing
- 29:54you can be is like angry and like, ah, like it's not fair
- 29:57whatever. Because, yeah, I mean, it's
- 30:00doesn't make any sense to the nemean.
- 30:02Lion will know. Yeah.
- 30:03I know, and also more to the point like, if you look at it,
- 30:07like really specifically, like, I don't want like your life and
- 30:10that's not because there's anything.
- 30:12Well, yeah, it's just There's different goals, there's
- 30:14different things course that what you're looking for and
- 30:17sometimes I don't know like a lot of what I hear people say
- 30:22when it comes to things like success and getting there as
- 30:24they always say that you know it's it's first of all it's not
- 30:29it's a marathon not a not a race, right?
- 30:32Yeah. And that different things have
- 30:34to move and shift in your life before you can get to where you
- 30:36want to be and I think mentally I'm ready for that change.
- 30:44If it ever does happen, but I'm also in the head space now which
- 30:49sounds kind of sad, but I am trying to just be realistic
- 30:52about things. I'm also thinking about, you
- 30:54know, if it just never happens for me, you know, and what that
- 30:58might look like and how that might know bit, like I don't
- 31:01mean, I don't want. Yeah, now I got women.
- 31:03I'm not trying to say this in, like I want sympathy way or woe
- 31:06is me. Yeah, I'm just trying to say
- 31:07that like first of all it wouldn't be the end of the It's
- 31:10I know I talked about it a lot. So anyone that listens our be
- 31:13like, oh this again, right? But it's think about it like
- 31:16this for me right now. I'm going through, I suppose,
- 31:21like I'm thinking about this, and I'm learning to come to
- 31:24terms with it and be like, you know what, yeah, maybe that
- 31:27that's okay. Maybe it's not the end of the
- 31:29world and I think the big thing that's in my head right now is I
- 31:35want it to kind of I want to come to terms with it so that I
- 31:38can have the right attitude. The last another one is to have
- 31:41this bad attitude towards that and life because I don't want to
- 31:45upset like, you know, my followers people who listen to
- 31:48me, people who support me in my own life.
- 31:50I don't want to become like a bitter person or anything
- 31:53because life, you know this, there's so many amazing things
- 31:58about life and there's so much to be appreciated and savored in
- 32:02life. And this is these things that
- 32:05we're aspiring to, I just one aspect of it.
- 32:08And, you know, I think that, For instance, might my goals.
- 32:14Mainly I just to be able to do like this sort of stuff for a
- 32:17living and I've seen other people do it and that inspires
- 32:22me to keep going and I would love to be able to do it but You
- 32:28do one thing I hear a lot, people say is all one day.
- 32:30It will happen for you. One day, it will happen for you
- 32:32and I just don't know. If that's the way it works, if
- 32:38that's like, if everybody gets what they want in life, you know
- 32:42what I mean? Like it's and this is all pretty
- 32:44new from. Yeah.
- 32:45Well, like I only really I started understanding what I
- 32:51wanted like in 34 years ago. Yeah.
- 32:55Before that. I had no idea and for anyone
- 32:57listening, who's either about to hit their 20s or yeah.
- 33:04Good thing to remember is that, it's okay, if you haven't
- 33:07figured out what you want to do in life.
- 33:09Yeah, you know, sometimes it takes many years before that
- 33:12happens and it's I think it's good to try a lot of different
- 33:14things to see what you're good at.
- 33:17So, what you like, see, What you don't like and you know, you
- 33:20kind of figure it out from there, you know?
- 33:23Yeah. I mean I didn't really get on
- 33:25this road that I was on in terms of, you know, working in it and
- 33:31working at my dream company. Until I was about twenty six,
- 33:36twenty five, twenty six, twenty nine.
- 33:38Now you know, it's not all going to come to you at once.
- 33:42It's It's sometimes things just do fall into place.
- 33:48I ended up at a company. The company, my previous
- 33:51company. I ended up there in a role that
- 33:53didn't particularly do anything. For me, it was like, admin,
- 33:58payroll work. Okay.
- 34:01And I, I said that when, you know, I got very friendly with
- 34:04the empty computer, engineering department and a friend of mine
- 34:10at work was promoted to manager of Pure engineering department.
- 34:15And I'd spoken to him before, many times down the public.
- 34:18I'd really love to get into what you do.
- 34:19And I just said to him, I wanted a computer engineer and it was
- 34:22done, you know? And I got into that, I've
- 34:26finished, we broke up for Christmas and then I started in
- 34:30January and it, you know so it doesn't Just it, you don't have
- 34:36to have it all figured out sometimes things will just
- 34:38happen, but I was so wrong thing that you did.
- 34:41Say that I think is a valid point that because I like to
- 34:43drop some truth bombs. Whenever I come here, I feel
- 34:45like I do I dropped some like stuff that you don't really want
- 34:48to hear guns away Banzai. Here we go.
- 34:52You, if you are starting out on any platform whether it be
- 34:57YouTube Spotify Tick-Tock Snapchat, Instagram, you are not
- 35:03entitled. Want to followers.
- 35:05You are not entitled to views. You are do not do these things
- 35:11expecting to be handed, something in terms of, and I'm
- 35:15not trying to sound arrogant and saying things.
- 35:17Because like, I don't really know, I'm still trying to make
- 35:19it two thousand Subs. I haven't quite over yet.
- 35:22Like the work I've had to do to get.
- 35:24There has been insane and then you get other people who is so
- 35:31lightning in a bottle. You know, they upload.
- 35:34A piece of content that just really works and suddenly their
- 35:38views, their subscribers, all that, it blows through the
- 35:40brief. That is a 0.01 percent chance of
- 35:45that happening. Everyone else, on the platform
- 35:47is going to have to grind, and you know what?
- 35:51It may not work out because you still need an element of that
- 35:54lightning in a bottle content to really go bang to get into that
- 35:59algorithm. Like, I've had a video recently
- 36:01in Scott 75 thousand pieces. No sound a lot, but to me that's
- 36:06huge. Its most people have gotten the
- 36:07video and that was because the YouTube algorithm picked it up.
- 36:12It was a video essay that I release like over a year ago for
- 36:17Nanda Devi movies. One villainous seen series.
- 36:21We have sunk by like your favorite scene.
- 36:23Involving a villain from our comic book.
- 36:25However, or a TV show or movie and I picked Jim Carrey first.
- 36:29Jim Carrey's Eggman the Sonic at the end of the silent movie
- 36:33because I would, To make a case for how it really showed like
- 36:38the delusions of grandeur and like how over bloated, a man's
- 36:44ego is, and how it really made him.
- 36:46Carry that character and it did fairly well when it came out, it
- 36:50got like 4000 views which is good for me and then Sonic movie
- 36:532 comes out suddenly YouTube site, okay?
- 36:57Yeah, this this this needs to go into the algorithm that we need
- 37:00to. This is going to get pushed.
- 37:02I did nothing. In the six months between that
- 37:05video coming out and it blowing up to make it do that, it was
- 37:09just lightning in a bottle. YouTube decided the algorithm
- 37:13was worth showing, its people its luck, it is just luck.
- 37:19Even if you try and figure out every intense detail of the
- 37:23algorithm, the algorithm will change next week.
- 37:26It always does. So don't get yourself
- 37:30disheartened people when you when you try and put stuff out
- 37:33there. There and it doesn't get to any
- 37:35views or the because I'm telling you now that's what happened.
- 37:39When PewDiePie started here loading videos.
- 37:42They've got like no views, don't have these now because you know,
- 37:46the subscriber count. He has, you know, people want to
- 37:48go back and see the first video PewDiePie ever made.
- 37:51He's probably got millions on all these videos, but there was
- 37:54a time when PewDiePie and markiplier when Game Theory all
- 38:00these people uploaded videos, movies, I mean, I think a good
- 38:08thing to keep in mind as well as like if you are just starting
- 38:11out and you're not seeing much attention, but you are seeing a
- 38:15little bit click onto that because, yeah, I know I've said
- 38:19this before, and I always say this to my current followers and
- 38:23listeners, I appreciate them so much because they are a driving
- 38:30force and I'm very for me to keep going.
- 38:33And also, They inspire me. They're all amazing people with
- 38:37amazing lives selves and I just wanted to touch on what you were
- 38:43saying before about. You know, like not having
- 38:46expectations like in the sense that, you know, you feel you
- 38:51like I have to have like followers like I deserve this.
- 38:54Did it? Like even if you get like a
- 38:57handful of people and they care enough to spend their time in
- 39:02your live stream, or liking a video of yours, or taking the
- 39:05time to, like, comment on something like you got to
- 39:09appreciate that and be thankful for that and realize that like
- 39:13that is worth more than anything else.
- 39:15And that you are actively achieving your goal of reaching
- 39:19people. You're doing swell, appreciate
- 39:22what you have before you start trying to reach out and get
- 39:25more. But it's just It's just that,
- 39:27you know, it's like I said before, like I've said that, I
- 39:30would love to reach more people and, you know, sometimes I get a
- 39:33bit sad about the fact that I can't do that sometimes but the
- 39:35same time. Like the thing that always
- 39:37brings me back to reality is realizing that there's there are
- 39:40people that care and dude, listen, them and following,
- 39:43that's like, that's the thing you need to remember.
- 39:46And also I think it's really it's important because that's
- 39:50what keeps you grounded and keep short head in the game and you
- 39:54know where it should be. But also So, it keeps you in
- 39:59this mindset of realizing that. If you're chasing views and
- 40:06chasing, that's, that's, that's all you're trying to do.
- 40:11Then inevitably your content is going to probably lesson.
- 40:17Yeah, you know, it's gonna Suffer.
- 40:19Well, it's just that, you know, you won't be necessarily doing
- 40:22what you love anymore. You're just doing whatever it
- 40:24takes to get views, you know. And yeah, like, I'm not gonna
- 40:28sit here and say that, I don't try different things in order to
- 40:31get views because, of course, I do.
- 40:32But at the same time, like I don't make, I don't do that.
- 40:34As my only focal point, you know?
- 40:38If you saw what I'm doing on Tick-Tock, I had About six
- 40:43months or a year ago to basically create a second, a
- 40:45backup camera, which I think all people should do just in
- 40:48general, it's good to have backup accounts and on that.
- 40:51But I basically transitioned it into a thing where it's like the
- 40:56account where I just mess up and mess around and basically use
- 41:00Tick-Tock for its intended purpose.
- 41:02Yeah, it has a lot more reach compared to my main Channel,
- 41:06which does have more followers and stuff.
- 41:09But I just produce You know, my main account is kind of more
- 41:15like a base for showing what I can do.
- 41:19Like, hey, ya know, I do a podcast, I write music.
- 41:23I'm an aspiring actor. You can see all this stuff,
- 41:25right, but the second account is let's just jump on Trends, see
- 41:29if we can reach people, whatever have fun and since I took that
- 41:34approach, it's been more successful but it's also been a
- 41:37lot more fun, which I think is kind of more important, you
- 41:41know, in the Fun, you're having. And I think the better at your
- 41:45attitude is the better. Your content will be.
- 41:48Yes, completely agree. You have to put your heart into
- 41:51you have to enjoy what you're doing.
- 41:54Like, for me with the Calamity, quickies, I was doing for quite
- 41:59a while. I was living off YouTube drama.
- 42:04When I was making those like I was loving the commentary
- 42:07channel was they were all in my algorithm you know, I my nerves
- 42:12Occations on, for keemstar, I was ready to go and Omni I
- 42:15absolutely love on me. I still think of me as
- 42:17fantastic. And like, the thing is, I can't
- 42:19get through in a whole Army video now, because the YouTube
- 42:24news, the drama is just become this thing where it's like, I
- 42:27don't really want to hear about all of it anymore.
- 42:31Like I used to find it, someone had staining and now, I'm just
- 42:33so, I just okay. And so the Calamity quickies
- 42:36have stopped because it is easy to get into a point where it was
- 42:40like, I was covering some really.
- 42:45Deep stuff going on. That was I really unsettling to
- 42:49watch. It was unsettling for me to
- 42:51record when I was like talking about it, like some of the stuff
- 42:54in the smash community and stuff like that.
- 42:57And it's couple Toppers that I'm not enjoying putting this
- 43:00contact 10-hour anymore, I'm sitting there like, okay, let's
- 43:03talk about some really nasty stuff that's going on and just,
- 43:08So, grossed out by talking about something formal stuff for
- 43:11people doing. It's just wasn't enjoying it.
- 43:13So I haven't really done them for a while.
- 43:16I was kind of I was trying to turn them more into kind of like
- 43:19a nerd culture News segment, with bits of drama thrown him.
- 43:25So I got his cup of her in like no way home stuff before know
- 43:29Aaron was coming out and it like I was giving updates on that and
- 43:31like various different Marvel projects and you know things
- 43:36coming out but it just got to a point.
- 43:37Rose. I'm not ready.
- 43:39I'm having to really convince myself to sit down and record
- 43:42these. And that shouldn't be the case.
- 43:45I've chilled just want to go and sit down and record them.
- 43:47So I hadn't really done them, but they'll come back in the
- 43:49future, who knows your needs is always a possibility but you you
- 43:55know, if you're not putting your heart and soul into our content,
- 43:58if you're enjoying the content, you're making your audience can
- 44:01tell, and there's no point putting out that kind of content
- 44:04because people are responding to it.
- 44:06Why people going to Respond to something that's, you know, a
- 44:09bit more lifeless will say, because that's just not the
- 44:12heart in it. There's another thing actually
- 44:14reminded be like one thing I've said to my audiences that I'll
- 44:18always be authentic and real demand, you know, if I feel down
- 44:23I'm going to voice that but I tried to avoid kind of doing
- 44:28that all the time. It's difficult.
- 44:29You know, sometimes I, you know, I just don't get it right, you
- 44:34know. I'm human at the end of the day,
- 44:35I'm trying and trying to get better.
- 44:37Um, but I try, I have consciously tried to avoid it as
- 44:44much as possible with live streams and more specifically,
- 44:48with the videos I've noticed that I used to post a lot of
- 44:53kind of likes, more cynical stuff, or jumping on Trends, but
- 44:57it was all just kind of really depressing.
- 44:58Like and I don't get me wrong, I still will post those videos
- 45:01every once in a while because just, yeah, fun relatability it.
- 45:04But I'm trying to kind of consciously make the content
- 45:07over Overall more positive and having fun with it.
- 45:10Yeah. And the reason for that is I
- 45:13want to make my audience smile and feel happy and take their
- 45:17minds of stuff. And you know, I've said this
- 45:19before in the show and I'll say it again, like when you get
- 45:22people reach out to you and they tell you, hey this content got
- 45:26me through a dark time or, you know, made me smile or, you
- 45:28know, I was having a bad day and you've cheered me up.
- 45:31Like that means everything to me.
- 45:33That's amazing to hear. And I started to realize about
- 45:36myself that I think I'm the sort of type of person that I'm able
- 45:43to make other people smile and laugh.
- 45:46Yes, I'm a bit weird. You know what?
- 45:51You know it's like how when you start being more true to
- 45:55yourself and you stop trying to be something you're not.
- 45:59You just focus on being you to life becomes a lot easier or at
- 46:04least it feels Right, you know? Yeah and I think for so long, I
- 46:11was like so obsessed with trying to appear, you know, serious and
- 46:15sensible and respected in particular.
- 46:18And now I'm just like, you know, it doesn't matter if people
- 46:20don't respect me or think of me this way.
- 46:25The main thing is, am I happy? Am I happy with how I am?
- 46:29Who I am. Etc.
- 46:30Am I being true to myself? And I feel like now, for the
- 46:33first time I'm beginning to like, really, Get to that.
- 46:37But the interesting thing is yeah that lessons keep coming,
- 46:40you know, every day. You know, I think I'll be okay.
- 46:44This is where I need to be and then something will pull you
- 46:45right back and I'm like, oh okay there's much more like I
- 46:48literally in the last couple of days.
- 46:51I had a moment where I was like, Wow, Let's Get Some got more
- 46:55growing up to do, you know? And I'm just, yeah, it's
- 46:57intriguing. The way life works like that.
- 46:59Yeah, I could beat you get with you mean as well because I I
- 47:04used to really lean in on Cynical content.
- 47:08I used to criticize the Sonic series a lot like that.
- 47:13That was a large bulk of my videos is criticizing what was
- 47:16going on. And, because we were in a bit of
- 47:19a drought, you know, we weren't getting any information about
- 47:22games or projects in the Gap from like 2017 till last year.
- 47:28It's very, very quiet. So my channel was kind of
- 47:32getting built off that and recently past year or so I've
- 47:35tried to be a lot more positive. Active.
- 47:37I don't really want to talk about solid negatively because I
- 47:41think it's spreading the conversation.
- 47:44I think it's had an impact on the fan base, for the fans.
- 47:47Just never happy because they become so content with moaning.
- 47:50Because it's like, we just sit in our Echo chamber, zooming
- 47:53moaning, each other all day, and then, and I'm so like I'm pretty
- 47:58honest on my channel. I'm pretty honest about my
- 48:01thoughts and feelings on things. But, of course, like, I can't go
- 48:08and just like, slag off Sonic stuff.
- 48:12Like you have to understand that I can't.
- 48:15That would put my job in Jeopardy.
- 48:17Oh no, I mean like I can say if I have criticisms with a game
- 48:24like I've said about some of the bugs and glitches that I found
- 48:27in Sonic Origins that weren't present in the original games on
- 48:30bit. Like I found some, I mentioned
- 48:33in my review, I have one that was game-breaking Hopefully this
- 48:38will get passed out in future, I can be constructed like that
- 48:41like and they're not holding a gun to my head and say you have
- 48:45to say nice things but you have to understand there is a level
- 48:48of being a professional not going out and slacking off your
- 48:52company and and I'll be honest I don't throw I really have much
- 48:56need to slack off the company at all just full transparency but
- 49:01if I did, I couldn't exactly do that because I have
- 49:04professional. I have to have some integrity
- 49:07So, I'm trying to be more positive with the content.
- 49:10Like I completely don't respond to it in the same way, that's
- 49:13the problem I can put you get what you mean.
- 49:15I've been doing the same thing as well and I'm still learning,
- 49:19I'm still very much kind of trying to understand it fully
- 49:23but this thing about having a consistent reputation across
- 49:27what you do, you know it's one thing to mess around on this
- 49:30like account that I have, right? But I am very conscious of what
- 49:33I put out there and what kind of message that conveys And I'm
- 49:37still learning for some of the comments, I read sometimes I'll
- 49:39delete things afterwards and I'm like hmm.
- 49:41Okay back to the drawing board. Need to think about this more.
- 49:44Think about how the yeah portrays me.
- 49:46Because as much as I'm very kind of transparent with who I am
- 49:54like and how I am conscious of how people view that content and
- 49:59how they see it. And what that says about me and
- 50:01what the chances of maybe getting, excuse me somewhere,
- 50:05like for example, Being able to secure sponsors for a podcast or
- 50:10being able to get brand deals or stuff like that.
- 50:14I mean, I'm still kind of like our this probably would never
- 50:17happen, but if it did happen, if the opportunity was there, you
- 50:21know, I wouldn't want to lose as a result of, you know, the
- 50:24content I was producing. So I think that's part of it.
- 50:27But as you say, a big part of it, as well as it gets you down
- 50:30there, isn't it? When you wear when you're -
- 50:32about stuff or you, you post a bunch of content that's like
- 50:35that is kind of depressing. And I think Gets to you as well.
- 50:39Yeah, 100% infects your mentality and how you perceive
- 50:43things, everyday things in the real world, you know.
- 50:46And I'm not going to sit here and pretend, I'm a saint, like,
- 50:49I've got it all figured out because I really don't know who
- 50:51died. I still have a lot of things in
- 50:54the way that I look at things in the world that I want to work
- 50:57on. Hmm.
- 50:58Like like, I'm awful with people in public, oh, humans in public
- 51:07and Oi me like I'm one of those people do not have any like you
- 51:11seems like leave my house and human of being on the street I'm
- 51:15like why are you doing that? You know, first, it's a common
- 51:19sense in that and things I lay my head and I just think I'm
- 51:22trying to work on I think they set my friends, I love you.
- 51:25I think there's something to this because I get this.
- 51:27Sometimes I think a big part of it is just your mood on that
- 51:29given day because I think sometimes it's nice to see
- 51:32people but I think agree because we're a bit more introverted and
- 51:37We like to kind of have things a certain.
- 51:40Well, I up. Okay.
- 51:41Yeah, yeah, you'll spawn. I'm willing to bet that you do
- 51:45the same thing that I do. So let's say you walk into like
- 51:48I don't know comic book shop, right?
- 51:51Yeah and yeah it sounds so stupid but it's true.
- 51:57See I can vary. Okay, if I'm in a room, right?
- 51:59With people I come back to the example right now but I just I
- 52:04always say that I'm an extrovert introvert or I don't know.
- 52:07They called it ambivert them. They yeah.
- 52:09If we put like if me and you were both walk into a room and
- 52:12there's of gone, bunch of people, we're not going to feel
- 52:14comfortable, but we can present that we're comfortable and be
- 52:18the, yes. We'll probably have an anxiety
- 52:20crash later, but in the moment. Yeah, right.
- 52:23Yeah, it's like, oh, hey, a nice to meet you did it, right?
- 52:26Because you just understand that you just have to do that to get
- 52:29through that specific. You can't be like, yes and
- 52:32believe me it's about because sometimes I still feel, you
- 52:35know, like if Ike if there's an opportunity You need to be in
- 52:38the shadows, I will be there and disappeared.
- 52:40Oh, haven't person, right. So that's that's what I present
- 52:45and but sometimes I am genuinely like, comfortable as you say,
- 52:48like if you're with friends, that's a bit different than
- 52:50that's, you know. But even that could be daunting
- 52:52if there's enough people there. But yeah, when it becomes like
- 52:55you're in public and you just checking out something in like a
- 52:59shop. But like let's say there's like
- 53:01a few too many people by the area that you want to go to.
- 53:04Like, I'll genuinely just kind of wait and be somewhere else in
- 53:10the store until they leave. And if they'd never leave, I
- 53:13just won't go to that area and I'll just basically like loot,
- 53:20like, Miss out because I'm C. So what is it is?
- 53:23And I will pretend. So I'll give you a better
- 53:26example, right? You're in the supermarket.
- 53:29And let's say you're down the rice and pasta aisle, right?
- 53:34And then the next to each other, right?
- 53:36And you you want to look at Rice, there's a family looking
- 53:40at Rice, okay? So you saw Sam by the pastor and
- 53:43I peruse the pasta like okay, this isn't a gear tele, very
- 53:46nice and waiting for them to leave the whole time.
- 53:50My head. I'm like yo we're not all here
- 53:53for a day out. Can you just like, get your pack
- 53:54your rice and move on so I can get him please.
- 53:57And after like a minute, Blight. Okay.
- 54:00Now that nothing about sorry. Excuse me.
- 54:02Sorry now I'm not go all day and just take it.
- 54:04I will go. Well it's our local day.
- 54:06I like I said I'm ahead but I'll just love that.
- 54:08Sorry. Excuse me.
- 54:09I was standing up like waste of time.
- 54:12Other things to do today. Angie I need this is that my
- 54:16inner monologue. I love it, but it's just like
- 54:19just going back to that example, it deep.
- 54:22Do you have difficulty in? Like so you're looking at the
- 54:25pastor, right? You don't care about the pasta
- 54:27because you want the rice, but in your head and were your
- 54:30Acting. Now, you're basically acting so
- 54:32you have to have vein showing interest in looking at the thing
- 54:35you're looking at. Oh yeah, pick one out.
- 54:37Turn around kid, I don't know why it's the same as that.
- 54:43When you see in movies and they said okay guys I'm actually it's
- 54:46like, it's so yeah. Pretend to like to fake in that
- 54:50scenario like I'm standing before your so now like oh I
- 54:53must have had a notification. There's nothing on there you
- 54:56just scrolling through Facebook. Oh how interesting.
- 54:59Okay. Yeah, put the fire back in.
- 55:00Now, let's pretend to look at the pasture again.
- 55:02It's a performance, it's a performance.
- 55:04I'm so I find that the world just moves too slow for me and I
- 55:08don't, I know that's ridiculous. Coming from me of all people, as
- 55:11well. I've got there fast, but the
- 55:14world generally needs to soak in it.
- 55:16People in day-to-day life, don't walk fast enough.
- 55:20They don't want to get what they, what they want to die.
- 55:22What what do I do? Giveaways are they don't do what
- 55:26they've left. The do the house.
- 55:28Oh my God, I can't get my words. They don't do what they left the
- 55:31house to do fast enough. It's like seriously popping down
- 55:36to get some milk is not a family day out.
- 55:39I'm just here to my stomach. I'm so cynical her by her brain,
- 55:46and I really try. The worker, dude facing if you,
- 55:51I will always be polite and friendly to people Chucky even
- 55:53in those scenarios like. Yeah, just because my in a lot
- 55:57monologue is saying, hurry, the fuck up.
- 55:58Doesn't mean that I know get laid if you smile at, they don't
- 56:02get a smile at you, you know? See like when you're in the
- 56:05supermarket and there's like, two people in the way having a
- 56:07conversation or like, I don't know.
- 56:09You you're trying to walk down the street and there's just
- 56:12loads of people in the way and they won't get out the way in my
- 56:15head. I'm screaming.
- 56:16I'm like, ooh, get out of the way.
- 56:20Oh my God, I'm just like this, this will be me on the street.
- 56:25Okay, the worst thing is, when you have to like you To quickly
- 56:31but then you're stuck behind them but you're too socially
- 56:34awkward to walk around them or you can't walk run because
- 56:36there's no space to we'll go around them without getting like
- 56:38I don't know hit by a car. Oh my God.
- 56:40Yes, it's the worst. The absolute worst is when it's
- 56:43like an Alleyway or something and there's literally no way to
- 56:45get around them. So you have to be that are
- 56:47excuse me and but then you feel rude and then sometimes they'll
- 56:50be rude. They'll be like, what's your
- 56:52problem? And it's not like Yeah, Austin,
- 56:54you're too slow but you don't say that.
- 56:56But in your head you're thinking that and it's like my worst
- 56:59ones, the ones you swear. Move.
- 57:01Like so you say like you normal pavement, right?
- 57:05There's plenty of room for two people to walk down there but
- 57:08they do is they just they sit in the dead center of it with huge
- 57:12bags on. So you can't get around either
- 57:13side and then they'll Moon. And every time you think I was
- 57:16better, open that side. Okay, the swerve that with, oh,
- 57:19Jesus. Oh my God, oh my God.
- 57:25This is, this is what it's like to live with anxiety, especially
- 57:28since London particularly This is the worst, it's paralyzing.
- 57:32And it's so ridiculous because a lot of the time, for instance,
- 57:36you get that example earlier, if that you just grab the thing,
- 57:38you need to grab and go, and that's fine.
- 57:40And no one will have an issue with that, but sometimes people
- 57:42do. So, for example, that swerving
- 57:45example that you gave, there's been times when I've tried to
- 57:49get around that person because it just won't move and you do
- 57:53get around them, but then you hear like a, you know, like,
- 57:57yeah, trying to get around them and it's like, well, what do you
- 57:59expect? You're in the way.
- 58:02Like I do you know and I think I light a nice about it you know I
- 58:06mean I'd understand if like you push the person over or
- 58:09something fair enough but like you just try to like be
- 58:13unimposing and just walk around them and they won't move and
- 58:16they get annoyed at you. Yeah, I mean there's been a few
- 58:20occasions where I've had like the Tuttle, the side and doing
- 58:23that and I've just like, full pelt in Sonic's, boys.
- 58:28It's been like, you're too slow. I just kept walking like I'm
- 58:34trying to get from A to B, that's literally what I'm here
- 58:37to do. Like, we're silikal better, man.
- 58:41We are literally, as we both approach, 30 know, I've always
- 58:45been like this teenager, but at least these days like, um, a bit
- 58:53more like, I just let it go. But whatever.
- 58:56Let's just my own weird insecurities, but when I was a
- 58:59teenager, I was like, truly angry at the world and every
- 59:01single shape and form. I didn't I didn't know that I
- 59:04had social anxiety. I just thought that.
- 59:09Well, I even had two things. I either one felt like everyone
- 59:12was my enemy which is very own brand, being a teenager or yeah.
- 59:17And big anemic or it was like kind of I felt like I was the
- 59:21freak and everyone else is okay. And I'm just I just can't ya
- 59:27functioning planet Earth. Yeah, I think I'm all that comes
- 59:31to my school Clique. So I think once you see that
- 59:35she's so sitting outside of it, that's something that annoys.
- 59:38Me about school. Well, when we were at school
- 59:40because these days, I kid you not, every kid seems to be like
- 59:47that, it's Blurred Lines that you don't really.
- 59:48I mean, I apparently there are cliques, I hear, but a lot of
- 59:51the fun there aren't clicks so you can like listen to whatever
- 59:54music dressed whatever way you want and the norm give you
- 59:56problems. Now, if I'm wrong in that fine,
- 59:59you know, I'm not teenager in these days but I can tell you
- 1:00:02now and that me up earlier when we were teenagers.
- 1:00:06Oh my god, did we get bullied? Just Swearing blood black
- 1:00:10sometimes. Yeah.
- 1:00:11Not even necessarily wearing band shirts or anything was like
- 1:00:13oh you're wearing skinny jeans. You prick.
- 1:00:16Like what? Yeah, so with that.
- 1:00:18Let's watch. Meanwhile the cool thing was to
- 1:00:20wear all black fans. Yeah.
- 1:00:22Let's go always choose and and and the and the most annoying
- 1:00:25because everybody just Hypocrites.
- 1:00:28Like I remember I won't say his name but there was a guy in my
- 1:00:31form, who gave me lots of hassle for having an emo hair, right?
- 1:00:37And, and then I don't know, Franz Ferdinand gets pretty big,
- 1:00:41you know, whatever 80s Revival in the 2000s, right?
- 1:00:44Suddenly everyone's got that haircut and I go up to him and
- 1:00:47I'm like I'll tell you is named after you probably won't
- 1:00:50remember him, but I was like, oh, okay.
- 1:00:53So now you've got emo hair and you were giving me problems, you
- 1:00:56know, like a year or two ago, what gives and he's like oh
- 1:01:00what's fashionable down? I'm just like, you know, I know
- 1:01:04so this guy remember he wore args mail out.
- 1:01:08I didn't even know they made at my logs and I remember We all
- 1:01:13just looked at him like what were you wearing?
- 1:01:16Well, I mean tweets are owning it like it.
- 1:01:18To each their own batteries do is you're going to have your own
- 1:01:21style. What I was most about resizing
- 1:01:24others like he literally was brutal with with the name
- 1:01:28calling and being mean and stuff and then like I chose not to say
- 1:01:31anything in that scenario. I just I think my demeanor said
- 1:01:35it was I oh okay. It was talking about is uh,
- 1:01:40everyone else walked in and I was I just kind of thought I'm
- 1:01:42not going to be that guy because you know two wrongs don't make a
- 1:01:46right, but this is quite funny thing.
- 1:01:48It's kind of resurgence is kind of happening again.
- 1:01:51Now what do you are seeing believe that a lot of people
- 1:01:55like now just now want to pull off their their emo selves.
- 1:02:01They and they probably gave people shit for it in the past,
- 1:02:03but now like he knows becoming a bit more.
- 1:02:06Trendy again and you're finding a lot more.
- 1:02:09People are kind of like shifting towards it.
- 1:02:11Which to be honest I don't think it necessarily A Bad Thing, me
- 1:02:14more than modern teenagers. Or did you mean I don't see as
- 1:02:18well? Peter well that's cool.
- 1:02:23I mean because and I think it's good for the genre well I do
- 1:02:27find it funny that like much like them like people who would
- 1:02:31rip into the emo kids and now like okay no I totally want to
- 1:02:37go and see some other people that we went to school with the
- 1:02:45maybe we're a bit mean to us. but now suddenly emo super emos,
- 1:02:52And can you confirm or deny because that's interesting to me
- 1:02:58not like super Emos and not necessarily people like mean to
- 1:03:02us. Okay?
- 1:03:04But like there are people that were kind of in that seen
- 1:03:07before. Yeah, well that's cool.
- 1:03:11That's do now of reappearing in the scene because it's become
- 1:03:14more of like a I don't have a thing again, I don't know.
- 1:03:18I don't have so much from the that so by thinking like, you
- 1:03:23are seeing like, suede's of people coming into the scene now
- 1:03:28who clearly like, Weren't originally a part of that.
- 1:03:32A lot of people have come from like the rap scene and stuff
- 1:03:34like that, how we get, there is no issue with that.
- 1:03:36Like, I don't, I don't want to date, keep pop-punk, let it, let
- 1:03:40it fly. If you enjoy it, have fun with
- 1:03:42it. Look at her for all, she's back,
- 1:03:44smashing it again, and stuff like that.
- 1:03:45And people are noticing and it's Austin, but I think we are
- 1:03:49seeing one of those kind of chains again, where he most
- 1:03:52becoming trendy again, and people has 200.
- 1:03:55I mean, look how quickly MC are sold out, Milton Keynes.
- 1:04:00And then how Despite it for like three years and it was like the
- 1:04:04second coming of Jesus for Emos like to be everyone.
- 1:04:08I know was at that gig to be play.
- 1:04:10It's insane. I will say this about MCR.
- 1:04:14I was critical back in the Dave but I did secretly like the way
- 1:04:17I felt was I loved their first two albums.
- 1:04:20I did not care as much for the Black Parade as other people
- 1:04:25did. I thought there was some decent
- 1:04:26songs on there, but wasn't really that it fast but when
- 1:04:29they released their fourth album, I was so on board with
- 1:04:32that as oh, this is cool. This is a new thing.
- 1:04:35They're going for, I love this and then they just quit, I don't
- 1:04:38know. Yeah, got it.
- 1:04:40And that's the thing. They quit on a high on a huge
- 1:04:43high. Like, you know, that they were
- 1:04:45entitled, they were really good and then coming back after all
- 1:04:48these years, I think it's much more than like, an emo
- 1:04:50resurgent. I think it's just seeing a
- 1:04:51genuinely great back because I've heard a lot of people say
- 1:04:54that MC are really really good life as well.
- 1:04:56You see, ya then that might be a part of it, too.
- 1:05:01I kind of like the first album second album I was really into,
- 1:05:04I really like the black parade wasn't so much into the fourth
- 1:05:07album and and then like later on in life, I started to realize
- 1:05:16that I'm going. So a lot of people by saying
- 1:05:20this, but I was basically in a bit of a cult Being an MC, our
- 1:05:24fan. I was basically in a bit of a
- 1:05:27cult And it's like what you said, there were a lot of
- 1:05:33issues. I think you'll recall from back
- 1:05:35in the day, where with people basically self-harming, and then
- 1:05:44being like, MC are saved my life and using that as a thing.
- 1:05:48But where is that was an original thing?
- 1:05:49That was like, people that were struggling and were self-harming
- 1:05:52then and so I did help them kind of became a bit of a trend and I
- 1:05:59look back at it now and I'm like, I don't I don't know if
- 1:06:02that necessarily was the healthiest environment for a
- 1:06:05teenager like myself. I'm going to show a couple of to
- 1:06:08be around on this. I think that First of all, there
- 1:06:13are a lot of bands around the error that you could say, you
- 1:06:18could attribute to that. Yeah, that's very sure.
- 1:06:22Secondly, I there was nothing contained within the lyrics of
- 1:06:28their songs. Specifically MCI cars, nowadays.
- 1:06:31Yeah, but there was nothing in there that was even remotely
- 1:06:37encouraging, self-harm or anything like that.
- 1:06:39There were no I don't think that was.
- 1:06:41So this is the fan base was perpetuating it in with?
- 1:06:44Yeah because I remember at the time, there was right around the
- 1:06:48time, the Blackberry came out the UK press were on the case of
- 1:06:53Emos and You know, Jean and they were kind of attacking it and
- 1:06:58saying that all this music causes self-harm and it was we
- 1:07:01all kind of rejected and it was ridiculous.
- 1:07:04It was unfounded, they put MC are at the heart of that was
- 1:07:08like being the Catalyst for that and it was completely unfounded.
- 1:07:11There was nothing to suggest that you know, nah wasn't the
- 1:07:14band's themselves, but I do feel like it was becoming something
- 1:07:17that was like, Almost like a it's in reference to someone
- 1:07:23that I know you were mentioned earlier who we can name, but
- 1:07:27there were certainly this elitist mentality.
- 1:07:31And of like, you're not suffering from mental health
- 1:07:33issues, like I'm suffering from mental health issues.
- 1:07:36You can't be as big and empty our fan.
- 1:07:37There's me and I'm talking about and, and that person that we're
- 1:07:42not mentioning was not the only person by any means that was on
- 1:07:46that hype. That seemed to be I'm a decent
- 1:07:51percentage of that fan base and of the scene.
- 1:07:55And I think when you're in that environment, that's very
- 1:07:58dangerous. I hated that, because it's
- 1:08:00something because it existed in everything.
- 1:08:02I remember there were people because I was a massive heavy
- 1:08:04metal firm and there was people telling me like all whoo, you
- 1:08:08know, you can't listen to Children of Bodom or Cradle of
- 1:08:11Filth or whatever, because you're not a big enough metal
- 1:08:13file. My, why are you on about?
- 1:08:15I just listened to. I want to listen to it.
- 1:08:17Like, I've been with the same people and other cliques.
- 1:08:19It's would be like, oh, well, you can't listen to rap, says,
- 1:08:22who? What we are about and the Beast
- 1:08:24done, it sounds like pop. And it's like, well, I'm a
- 1:08:27musician. So, I like music anyway and be,
- 1:08:30I just like good music. So, we'll see.
- 1:08:33I've, I've discussed this with my good friend and DJ colleague
- 1:08:38Dan kid. Kicked London, and the metal
- 1:08:41scene is the most gate key P seen in the history of Music.
- 1:08:47Nothing changes in the metal scene.
- 1:08:49You still have the same six bands headlining download year
- 1:08:52after year, I've noticed this all the ridiculous.
- 1:08:56It's like, yeah, I mean it's great for Our Generation but for
- 1:08:59new fans of metal, it's like, surely there's shit.
- 1:09:03I mean, it's interesting, isn't it?
- 1:09:04I mean, because I know nothing, I've been unplugged from the
- 1:09:06middle seen for a long time. Like, I'm still listening to
- 1:09:08what I listened to about 20 G's occasionally.
- 1:09:11I might hear something nowadays. That's like fairly interesting
- 1:09:14but mostly I just listen to the same old bands, right?
- 1:09:17Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:09:18Whenever you see the Festival lineups.
- 1:09:20It's always just like corn. I don't know.
- 1:09:23Let's have a car teleca. Yeah, well, I'm Aiden.
- 1:09:26Those ones you can understand. But like, I mean think they've
- 1:09:30had their day I think I think in order for not had their day but
- 1:09:33like I think in order for festivals like download Festival
- 1:09:37to thrive in the future, they need to look at some other acts
- 1:09:42like Bring Me The Horizon Brian whether you like him or hate him
- 1:09:45have proven, they can headline download.
- 1:09:48I've seen them play. They know, they know headline
- 1:09:50damage shortly before not main stage, really nice.
- 1:09:54And it's like, I've seen them, pull an incredible crowd at
- 1:09:58reading that they just held our own Festival in Malta and they
- 1:10:02smashed it. Right.
- 1:10:03It's very interesting actually because I mean, I really highly
- 1:10:08admire them. They're great life burned,
- 1:10:11that's surprising. They've got, they've got huge
- 1:10:13fan base, as well as if you would, if you would put them on
- 1:10:16Main stage. Like, I mean, you probably sell
- 1:10:18out. Download just on that alone.
- 1:10:20Yeah, I was lucky enough to see them just after we came out of
- 1:10:23lockdown. After the last, stop down at the
- 1:10:26O2 and it was genuine incredible.
- 1:10:29The production value was phenomenal and it's like and
- 1:10:34that's it. Apart.
- 1:10:35Another perfect example, that gatekeeping thing as my friend.
- 1:10:38Dan said, last last time I saw him he was like, you got these
- 1:10:41guys are like, oh you listen to bring me Jus even listen to pray
- 1:10:46for place that fuck you. Do you even listen to pay for
- 1:10:48play because I do. Nobody is that why you gang?
- 1:10:50Keeping this shit like it's pointless and I feel like the
- 1:10:54metal scene just does this. So that's where they don't even
- 1:10:56like, play that stuff anymore. Deliver pain.
- 1:10:58Pray for painting anymore. This is like, which is like
- 1:11:07socks that. But I know, I don't understand
- 1:11:13where that, I guess. It must just be like, a
- 1:11:16protector to, like, feeling wanting to feel that your Art
- 1:11:19something. So you you gatekeeper because
- 1:11:21you don't want other people to change it in some way, but it's
- 1:11:26like, it's just yeah, I don't know.
- 1:11:28It's I think it comes down to the whole thing is, you bullied
- 1:11:31me for this so now, you can't think this is cool.
- 1:11:35I think that's a huge part of. They're like, oh we, you know,
- 1:11:37we in the, in the pop punk scene, or in the metal scene
- 1:11:40were outclassed. Well, we were normal and now you
- 1:11:43want to get involved. So now you have to go through.
- 1:11:45What I went through this like, yo, you just got a sorry you
- 1:11:48went through that. It's got stuff.
- 1:11:50But yeah, like you can't just hold everyone else over me.
- 1:11:53See a booty like I did. Well, guess what?
- 1:11:55We're in our late 20s early 30s. Are you gonna happen?
- 1:11:59Go over. It might as well have someone
- 1:12:01else. You can have a connection with
- 1:12:03you didn't previously over some music then just below that fuck
- 1:12:08you. And well, I don't want to see.
- 1:12:09I just think I think one thing and one thing you have to
- 1:12:11understand as well is that like in adult life?
- 1:12:13Like it's not to say that bullying doesn't happen because
- 1:12:15it does, but he gets dealt out with, in a different way when
- 1:12:20you were at school, bullying was almost like I don't know, it
- 1:12:26wasn't really dealt with schools always failed us when it came to
- 1:12:30dating. Yeah.
- 1:12:31And so we have a bubble of a lot of stuff especially us, both
- 1:12:34inside. And outside of school, we had
- 1:12:36caught up with him all the time, and it just became a part of
- 1:12:38life, but then, as you get older, you become an adult.
- 1:12:42You realize like, for the most part, I do my language.
- 1:12:44No one gives a shit like you can listen what you want.
- 1:12:48You can dress, however you want, no one gives a shit.
- 1:12:51Sometimes you might get a few are sold comments, but most
- 1:12:53people don't care there. Just trying to live their life
- 1:12:56and whatever, you know. Yeah.
- 1:12:58It's I'll get a lot of people enjoying the music of Machine
- 1:13:02Gun Kelly. Okay I got a love-hate for
- 1:13:04enjoying this purple hooter. Who gives you this?
- 1:13:06Hey, who are these people people in the pop punk scene?
- 1:13:09He's probably the most divisive person in the entire pop punk
- 1:13:11scene, to be icy. Hot, seen how your mouth seen
- 1:13:13loving and but who are the audience, random people on the
- 1:13:16internet? Give me crap.
- 1:13:18The quite a, quite a few people on my, my friend sister, I
- 1:13:21remember when I paged, if I got my tickets for his, but I would
- 1:13:23record show friends of yours wheelchair.
- 1:13:25Friends of mine were all like yeah, they saying it.
- 1:13:29Well, I kind of figured I'm just like Okay, cool.
- 1:13:34Like I I love it and I just have to look at when they're leaving.
- 1:13:38Those kind of comments as like it's just a bit a light ribbing.
- 1:13:42Like yeah, I don't let myself believe in my head that people
- 1:13:47are so upset with the fact that I like an artist that they are
- 1:13:52going to leave these kind of comic.
- 1:13:54I can't wrap my head around that because I'm just like, yeah, it
- 1:13:57sounds like it is that I know you will.
- 1:13:58You've got more to do with your lives in this almost sounds like
- 1:14:00it's different. This is jobs Little Light.
- 1:14:03Reading about those kind of, do I have to say it because I
- 1:14:07honestly, with how busy I am, as a human being and how little of
- 1:14:11my own time? I have, I can't believe that's
- 1:14:14what people really wanted to do with this, hmm?
- 1:14:17Like like I can't believe that people are actually people.
- 1:14:21I know, obviously not complete strangers on the internet
- 1:14:24because we know they will go out and do but like, people, I know,
- 1:14:27I just have to assume that I have a good laugh for this.
- 1:14:30They ever got time to be. Be being malicious with it, you
- 1:14:33know, I mean, what I've noticed is like anyone that's just mean
- 1:14:37to you on the internet. Chances are they're hurting.
- 1:14:39They're going through something in their own life.
- 1:14:41So they're attacking you to feel better, or they're jealous of
- 1:14:44you, maybe don't know, because a lot of the comments, I get
- 1:14:49either on videos or in live streams, they just kind of like
- 1:14:53unfounded and really random and it's like, yeah, you know, I
- 1:14:57mean, like, He liked it. So I got a comment on one of my
- 1:15:02videos on one of my Sonic. 06 play series.
- 1:15:05It was I have you tried pressing other buttons and on my okay yes
- 1:15:11clearly because different bonds have different functions and I'm
- 1:15:15not just in the same function there's like to hell.
- 1:15:17I was like Think this was, you know, I think this is me being
- 1:15:22very cynical. I didn't that and just laugh
- 1:15:24along to it. I've ever the end of the color.
- 1:15:26I just put like, yeah, I should probably probably tried doing
- 1:15:29that sometime. Oh, also, thank you for watching
- 1:15:32just turn it. That's what I tried.
- 1:15:34Do, like a covering, the could coming that's trying to be - I'm
- 1:15:36like, let's try and tensed around this time.
- 1:15:38Make this a day over a joke at my expense.
- 1:15:40We can't laugh at yourself. What can you laugh at you?
- 1:15:42Yeah, for sure. Remember their bitch, I'm trying
- 1:15:45to put there were positive spin on it.
- 1:15:49I think so that is the philosophy.
- 1:15:54We've been talking for well over an hour and I didn't even God
- 1:15:57damn it. I didn't even get to any of the
- 1:15:59stuff. I was going to ask you so fast
- 1:16:01as it's been, it's been a usual thing for anyone that listening.
- 1:16:04I hope you've enjoyed back and forth, six times.
- 1:16:07You've been on the show, man, six, I love it.
- 1:16:10I love being here, obviously, London.
- 1:16:12It's such an honor to be here. I find it's a very special
- 1:16:16connection. Between me and you purely on the
- 1:16:18fact that we were the Americans in school, we were those here.
- 1:16:22We've known each other this along and our lives deviate or
- 1:16:26different parts. And yet many years ago, we found
- 1:16:29each other again through content creator, I've just like a so
- 1:16:32wonderful. I love, I love coming here to
- 1:16:35chat with you. I kind of view what you do is
- 1:16:39like one of the foundations of my YouTube Journey, do you know?
- 1:16:43I mean like you know how about you see the sidemen and you?
- 1:16:48And then we like best for use in that video is up.
- 1:16:50But this is the this is the foundation of our careers as
- 1:16:55content creators and then one day when we both have like two
- 1:16:59million Subs so I would remember him from back in the day.
- 1:17:02Yeah, he's doing a lot. Loads of videos, so just pop in
- 1:17:05and, you know, I think the weird part about it for me is that
- 1:17:10like I see the man you've become and I, you know, I really
- 1:17:13respect you and you know, I'm very proud of you and then I
- 1:17:16ought to but like there's a part of me that I always just look at
- 1:17:19you. And I just see that kid that I
- 1:17:20used to like chat with and, you know, we'd mock each other.
- 1:17:25And I just, I just remember, I have said this in previous shows
- 1:17:28but like just, you know, I was bunking off lessons in the
- 1:17:33infirmary and, and you, you're there because you genuinely
- 1:17:36needed to be there and you were always just nice and you totally
- 1:17:39knew what was up. You won't say anything.
- 1:17:42And we just have fun at. I remember stuff like that and I
- 1:17:45always see you as that that boy. And yeah but we're men now and
- 1:17:51told us with life, that's it. It's like I've grown up
- 1:17:55significantly since those days but my friend Phil actually said
- 1:18:00this and I first I didn't know what to make of it.
- 1:18:03But now I kind of like it and he's like you have this like
- 1:18:08Childish naivety when it comes to Sonic like you have this like
- 1:18:14child sense of wonder about it where you do believe, like the
- 1:18:19things that is trying to tell people like, you know, with your
- 1:18:22friends, you can do anything and you never give our little this
- 1:18:26kind of stuff like these lessons that we teach the kids, you
- 1:18:29still very much. Hold those families are those
- 1:18:31like it's kind of true, I've become a cynical grumpy old man
- 1:18:37but The same time I still kind of believe in that stuff and
- 1:18:42believe in trying to make people's days at Briar and that
- 1:18:44kind of thing. So there's still elements of
- 1:18:47teenage me there. I think in a lot of ways you
- 1:18:50need that you need. Yeah.
- 1:18:52But you need people like that in life.
- 1:18:53And I think that that's something that needs to be
- 1:18:56savored and cherished because we need to keep kind of keep that
- 1:19:01childhood innocence that sense of wonder and Happiness.
- 1:19:07Yeah, I'm from the news. I completely agree 100% 100% but
- 1:19:13yeah, no, I'm so I'm so proud of you and what you're doing and
- 1:19:16where you've got to, man, like, I just want to say this to
- 1:19:19anyone watching, right? Like you do not understand the
- 1:19:24work that goes into this episode.
- 1:19:27Now, for me, I've just sat in my studio for our and say five now
- 1:19:32or chained to this good man. But like you don't understand
- 1:19:38the level of editing and production that goes into making
- 1:19:42this podcast happen and it's like I said, I'm just doing a
- 1:19:46video recently and I equated it to like one minute of a video
- 1:19:53for me in the kind of videos I make is 2 hours of empty.
- 1:20:00Two hours. Well, he's understand when you
- 1:20:03watch this stuff that we produce that it takes a hell of a long
- 1:20:07time and because of that and the effort that goes into should
- 1:20:11really go and get this man. Some love by hitting the
- 1:20:13Subscribe button, smashing the bell with the medications on to
- 1:20:15you, never miss out on any of the latest Christian roof
- 1:20:18podcast something and of course Apple icon.
- 1:20:21This help other people. See, it really helps the
- 1:20:22engagement. Leave that comment down below.
- 1:20:24He needs that love. I'll be leaving a comment down
- 1:20:27there before. The hearts you can heart, that
- 1:20:29it will be all good. For the comment rounding, be
- 1:20:31fantastic. So yeah, give this guy some
- 1:20:33love. Go back over there and do you
- 1:20:35sweetheart? That's great.
- 1:20:38This is the script of my head that it is as good.
- 1:20:40Said, you practice that in the mirror and I think, I probably
- 1:20:46practiced it a few times at the start of this career.
- 1:20:51And now, I don't need to, I just do it all the time, sometimes
- 1:20:54some of my life, you've got Rissler.
- 1:20:55But yeah, sure. But before I give it that kind
- 1:20:57of sausage smoked, some kind of its YouTube channel.
- 1:20:59Let's go. I can just do stuff like that
- 1:21:01now and it's really worrying. I've become the thing.
- 1:21:05I hated when I first started watching YouTube Oh my God, I'm
- 1:21:08J Poole. I wish April.
- 1:21:11No, you don't know, I don't know.
- 1:21:14He's always got the money. He's got the success and he's
- 1:21:17beating every single person who goes into a boxing ring with.
- 1:21:20So you know, like I'll take some always got, he's got a couple of
- 1:21:24Bill in the bank. Surely, I'd only want a billion,
- 1:21:27just just one mill. Just one mill.
- 1:21:30Actually no to Mill too much. Just want to middle.
- 1:21:32And then one bill for the house in it and then to the second
- 1:21:36meal for just like Investments. It's and portfolio.
- 1:21:39Yeah, I'll be happy. I want to throw some random
- 1:21:42questions you that I had intended to.
- 1:21:45This is what actually intended for the show to be was all these
- 1:21:48questions I have here but okay we we didn't even go for that
- 1:21:51but I love that because that perfect just flowing from one to
- 1:21:55save them. Save some for next time for
- 1:21:58sure. But when I asked you a few now
- 1:22:00because I'm just, I'm just intrigued and I feel like yes
- 1:22:02you might get some good answers. What's one thing in life that
- 1:22:07never fails to make you happy? Music.
- 1:22:17Doesn't Matter What scenario? I mean whether I'm happy sad
- 1:22:23relaxed there is a song for that like for instance, when I go to
- 1:22:29Amsterdam on Tuesday I have had a low fire plainest that I have
- 1:22:34been building since covid specifically to be listened to
- 1:22:38in Amsterdam to walk around the streets of Amsterdam at night
- 1:22:41and listen to because it's such a beautiful city.
- 1:22:43And suddenly like the the tunes I picked reminded Me of being so
- 1:22:49I can't wait and things like that that that's going to.
- 1:22:52I'm really looking forward to that experience and like one of
- 1:22:56them my DJ and like I've got that round a loved one itself
- 1:22:59was his kind of intrinsically linked to music like doing my
- 1:23:02DJing it's just there's no. Okay, I'm thinking this about.
- 1:23:07Yeah, that could work. Drop it.
- 1:23:09Okay. Everyone's got off.
- 1:23:10Like I dropped pendulum at the last face down.
- 1:23:13So pop punk, mine and I was, I okay, I'm going to end my last
- 1:23:17set. Edward Propane, Nightmares, and
- 1:23:19just see how that goes off. It absolutely went off, and I
- 1:23:22was just like, I love being able to do this.
- 1:23:24This is so because you wouldn't go there expecting to hear that.
- 1:23:27Would you really? Like you said to hear all the
- 1:23:29small things or whatever, but not necessarily that and I'm
- 1:23:31like, okay, no, I'll drop the kid laroy in there.
- 1:23:34Like, go on. Let's have some fun with it.
- 1:23:36Like it's just yeah, I think music.
- 1:23:38It's just Never fails to make me happy.
- 1:23:41Always always a good one and failing that opening a pack of
- 1:23:45Pokemon cards. They actually no because if you
- 1:23:48don't go Hollow in it then you dig up sets out your attract
- 1:23:51like okay, similar question. What in life?
- 1:23:57Never fails to move you. Do we mean move physically or
- 1:24:04moving emotions? And that is, what could be the
- 1:24:08big one there because I have to physically get there
- 1:24:10emotionally. And I knew someone would ask me
- 1:24:14that. If I ask that question, it's got
- 1:24:16to be done. Can I give up okay?
- 1:24:22Yeah, like again, this is this always something for every
- 1:24:27scenario and I'll tell her I'll put a cute little anecdote
- 1:24:30story. So not last year last year.
- 1:24:36The say the Sonic thing is that a bursary Concert Experience
- 1:24:38that's happened. It was my favorite thing I've
- 1:24:40ever seen on the internet. It was my favorite live stream
- 1:24:43over dumb. My entire chat was typing out
- 1:24:46the lyrics to the songs in full caps.
- 1:24:48Like, we were at a concert together.
- 1:24:49I've just singing along to it. It was amazing.
- 1:24:52It was like my first online contact.
- 1:24:54I think it was the best thing ever and I specifically timed it
- 1:24:59on my first day, starting a Seder.
- 1:25:02That I would listen to a certain song.
- 1:25:03From that thing, that means a hell of a lot to me called
- 1:25:05Endless Possibilities, which is literally about like, they're
- 1:25:10being Endless Possibilities to life.
- 1:25:11You just got to go out and take it kind of thing.
- 1:25:14I remember walking up the Great West Road as the course is
- 1:25:19coming in, and I just see the Savior building at the distance
- 1:25:22and it just II said that it was a jet like you did it, you've
- 1:25:29literally made it to where you've always wanted to be.
- 1:25:32And again, it was the perfect combination of reaching that
- 1:25:38overview but you could see it and the Muse the chorus coming
- 1:25:41into that perfect moment and it just, it moved me differently in
- 1:25:45a way that just, I can't really explain.
- 1:25:49So again, I would have to say music, I'm sorry to your viewers
- 1:25:52because it just Giving the same answer, but I just feel that
- 1:25:55with music, there is so much with that.
- 1:25:58You can any scenario you can, you can use music.
- 1:26:02And that there is a song for that scenario to hope you are.
- 1:26:07Bring you down wherever you want from.
- 1:26:09That moment, there is a song together and I thought so, yeah,
- 1:26:14I would say music music more than anything.
- 1:26:16What do you value? Most in life and why?
- 1:26:22I would say the people around me because I do that's probably
- 1:26:27quite generic one. No, I was laughing because I
- 1:26:30thought we were going to go with the hat trick and music.
- 1:26:32Oh my God. Yeah, I would definitely send
- 1:26:38people around me because I You know, like we we spoken quite a
- 1:26:44bit on this podcast about like, how how we were picked on at
- 1:26:47school and how difficult things were for us.
- 1:26:50And now like because of that, my feeling of self-worth is very
- 1:26:57poor. I don't, I don't consider myself
- 1:26:59in the best light in a lot of ways really times now.
- 1:27:03Yeah, it's to this day. I still like I'm still very down
- 1:27:07on myself about a lot of things. Oh you shouldn't be murdered
- 1:27:11Fenton. I really am working on that and
- 1:27:14I'm trying but I fight I feel that like the people I have
- 1:27:19around me now. First of like, I'll just say
- 1:27:24quickly as I can anecdotal pieces.
- 1:27:25Well, like the people that I now chill with face out and Fuji,
- 1:27:30the people that I consider my family, they're the people.
- 1:27:33I looked up to for a long time. A lot of them are like, older
- 1:27:36than me and they're like mid-30s, right?
- 1:27:39I'm just about to enter my 30s in a ranging in between and
- 1:27:42their people. I've looked up to since I was
- 1:27:4318. My first started going to these
- 1:27:45clubs and now they're like, absolutely family to me who
- 1:27:49under no circumstances will. Let me feel bad about myself.
- 1:27:52Like I don't like call out names because I will be here all
- 1:27:57fucking day. But like I'll pull out some
- 1:28:00particular not because Sanders more than anything else but like
- 1:28:03it's just a good example of things.
- 1:28:05So that there was a face, I'm a couple of months ago where we
- 1:28:09have a lot of guest, DJs we had some pretty cool guests coming
- 1:28:12in to do this and I was like, just wanted to check with you if
- 1:28:16I am DJing. I know the backstage room has
- 1:28:18been a bit quiet. Slut, you not want me to be in
- 1:28:21one because I'm I was generally doing the opening set so like I
- 1:28:25was just like obviously big big names coming in.
- 1:28:27Do you want to save the space and that kind of thing and he's
- 1:28:29like, I'm not having this slide stop being bad with you.
- 1:28:33I'm not having this. You've called sure that I'm
- 1:28:35like, I really appreciate that. Thank you know, it's not
- 1:28:39necessary because I was being so down on myself.
- 1:28:41In that instance, it was more like but we've got quite a stack
- 1:28:44to build the city evening, like you showing you one little old
- 1:28:46me to do something but it's like I'm surrounded by people like
- 1:28:49that. Now, who just I refuse to let me
- 1:28:52fall in that regard. Jess, my girlfriend's amazing
- 1:28:55that regard as well like that. He's just like, you're not
- 1:28:57allowed to finish it by yourself anymore.
- 1:28:59You have to be positive. You have to kind of bring
- 1:29:03something to everyone else, like bring that Hatcher that we love
- 1:29:07to everyone else. So, I would absolutely say it's
- 1:29:11the people around me, but the caveat to that look up.
- 1:29:15Again, a little anecdote story, I want to tell is the other week
- 1:29:19at work, I received a letter from a child named Jack.
- 1:29:25You had written out about how much he loves Sonic and he had
- 1:29:30drawn, a picture of Sonic Tails and Knuckles fighting Eggman.
- 1:29:36And it was legitimately like, I cried reading it because I was
- 1:29:40like, this is me and if this kid literally could have been me and
- 1:29:46I'm currently working on something again, I was saying
- 1:29:49earlier about how say you're not staying in your lane.
- 1:29:51I'm currently working with someone to have some sort of
- 1:29:55like cards with stickers and stuff like that with a response
- 1:29:59from Sonic that we can send out to all of these kids.
- 1:30:03You writings, we get a lot of these letters and being able to
- 1:30:06Things like that like to give. This kid like some of the hope
- 1:30:13and passion I had for seonguk of that age is like one of the most
- 1:30:18rewarding things, I think I've ever I've ever felt.
- 1:30:22And it's interesting because I was having this conversation
- 1:30:25with just recently when she was like like your happiness needs
- 1:30:30to matter and I was like At the end of the day, whilst I agree
- 1:30:38with you, Sonic matters more because Sonic means so much to
- 1:30:46so many people out there that I I need to do everything within
- 1:30:51my power to do everything I can to this franchise so that it can
- 1:30:56be the best ever can be so that all those kids out there who are
- 1:31:00mean, he's that age have something to believe in
- 1:31:03something to hold onto. And something to teach them
- 1:31:06right from wrong and teaching the values that give me your
- 1:31:10protect, your friends and, you know, you can do anything if you
- 1:31:13put your mind to it, and it's things like that.
- 1:31:15So it's the people in my life and I think Pace, I am at in
- 1:31:19life, but I get to influence in this way and I get to hopefully
- 1:31:24positively affect the lives of. A lot of people just by caring
- 1:31:28about the franchise and try and do everything I can for it.
- 1:31:31So yeah. It's very it's very long-winded
- 1:31:33answer very long. Winded, answer.
- 1:31:35But yeah, it's the people I am and where I am in Life or just
- 1:31:39things. Like, I value so much that I
- 1:31:41couldn't bear to think of losing for the world like not living in
- 1:31:47that reality. You very much for sharing and I
- 1:31:51shall, I shall always shh as we do things to a close for today.
- 1:31:55Do you have any upcoming projects or some final thoughts?
- 1:31:57You'd like to leave that our listeners today, obviously
- 1:32:01Hatcher voices, 06, Humming, it's going to be a big deal.
- 1:32:07You're going to hear me voice Sonic, Shadow Silver, taels
- 1:32:11Knuckles, God knows who else is in this game.
- 1:32:14I can't remember down Eggman. There's a lot of people in this
- 1:32:16game. Nevertheless the dark,
- 1:32:17everyone's favorite villain. You're gonna let you know if you
- 1:32:20play Sonic 06 you're going to love it.
- 1:32:22If you haven't played Sonic 06 because you know, it's one that
- 1:32:24regarded as one of the worst games of all time, you're going
- 1:32:28to get some other story through watching my videos.
- 1:32:30Seriously watch the worktop what this games of all time.
- 1:32:34Um any YouTuber and Sonic 06 will be on that list.
- 1:32:37It always is. But yeah, look forward to that.
- 1:32:40I will have a few more bits coming up that will be revolving
- 1:32:45around Sonic Frontiers on its release.
- 1:32:48It's not like Prime will be coming this year, so I will be
- 1:32:50doing some stuff on that and TV show is shaping up to be
- 1:32:52something really cool. And of course, there are some
- 1:32:56other projects in the works. That I can't quite speak of yet
- 1:32:59and do not involve Sonic, so get involved for that.
- 1:33:03If you could subscribe to the I'd really appreciate it was so
- 1:33:06close to two thousand Subs. I think we're like 105 Subs away
- 1:33:11from the big two thousand and I have a brand new Sonic, the
- 1:33:15Hedgehog statue that I have spent about $500 on on the way,
