- 0:02Speaker 1: Tommy, how are you this evening? Some of the content
- 0:05Speaker 1: of Patriots Unfiltered may not be suitable for all audiences.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. All right,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome into Patriots Unfiltered. Wake up that give us a call?
- 0:21Speaker 1: A five to five? What Red Radio Radio at pavewayts
- 0:26Speaker 1: dot com. The book Encyclopedia, encyclopedic knowledge of the game.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Were you're seeing red? Were you disagreeing with his every
- 0:36Speaker 1: You're disagree with everything? Yeah, I didn't want a man
- 0:39Speaker 1: slain basketball to this kid. But move into the strengths.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Let's look at the total total, total, totality. Totality made
- 0:46Speaker 1: that up, not really work up? Yeah, but go ahead. Now,
- 0:53Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say that wasn't me working blue there.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I didn't under your bread five? Did I enter my best?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Sound like an F bomb to me. I'm having trouble
- 1:01Speaker 1: trusting again after last year, his last relationship trusting. Oh man,
- 1:06Speaker 1: I gotta take red eyes more often than this is
- 1:08Speaker 1: hopefully entertaining. This is Patriots Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All Right,
- 1:15Speaker 1: Welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here at Gilletts Stadium,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and we're back at a regular time after a week
- 1:24Speaker 1: with joint practices in Vegas and all that stuff, and
- 1:27Speaker 1: a preseason game which we want to put behind us.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I think for the most part, you know, except for
- 1:33Speaker 1: maybe a few plays, but we got a lot to
- 1:36Speaker 1: talk about. Yeah. I didn't realize Deuce was quite that
- 1:39Speaker 1: far off the rails as it was going on. I mean,
- 1:42Speaker 1: I do specifically remember the F bomb they put it
- 1:45Speaker 1: all together. Alex and I just looked at each other
- 1:47Speaker 1: in absolute horror. But you had a lot of other moments.
- 1:52Speaker 1: He was working on fumes. Yeah, Oh, he was the
- 1:53Speaker 1: totality of it. Is that the word yes? And I
- 1:56Speaker 1: really appreciated that he came in because I was fun,
- 1:59Speaker 1: you know, and as I said at the end of
- 2:01Speaker 1: the show, Alex induced came in. Otherwise it would have
- 2:03Speaker 1: been one of those two hour solo solo ventures that
- 2:06Speaker 1: wouldn't have been fun. We've been there before, correct, What
- 2:10Speaker 1: do you think, Matt? A lot a lot of throwing
- 2:11Speaker 1: it to Matt and the booth. It's amazing. I don't
- 2:13Speaker 1: get to talk as much when it's a solo show
- 2:15Speaker 1: because I have no one argue with anyway. Today is
- 2:18Speaker 1: cut down day. By four o'clock, teams have to reduce
- 2:21Speaker 1: their rosters down to fifty three. Um. There's always already
- 2:24Speaker 1: been a report that Devin Asiasi, Mike Giardi and Mike
- 2:29Speaker 1: Reese has had a visit by the turb Yeah. I
- 2:31Speaker 1: saw some speculation that maybe they're getting it out early
- 2:33Speaker 1: to try to get a trade Canny. I don't know
- 2:35Speaker 1: anybody who seeing Devon as play and feels the desire
- 2:38Speaker 1: to trade for him right now. But I mean, it's
- 2:40Speaker 1: a disappointing. It's a disappointing cap on him and Dalton Keane.
- 2:43Speaker 1: The two third third round tight ends from twenty twenty
- 2:46Speaker 1: you know, you know Gronkel left that position was just
- 2:49Speaker 1: a total black hole that season before. So it's it's disappointing,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and that's why they had to go out and get
- 2:55Speaker 1: Hunter Henry john Smith last year. Sopfully they're better yep.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So obviously that's not going to happen while we're on here.
- 3:01Speaker 1: There there might be you know, one or two reports
- 3:04Speaker 1: of additional guys, but that comes at four o'clock. Usually
- 3:07Speaker 1: we don't actually put that release out until a little later.
- 3:10Speaker 1: We're notoriously slow with that So why do you think
- 3:14Speaker 1: that is right? We were talking about that this morning. Um,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I just think that they want to make sure that
- 3:18Speaker 1: all the players are talked to before they read it
- 3:21Speaker 1: anywhere else. And I think it and honestly, you cut
- 3:25Speaker 1: a guy by telling him, well, I know, but they're
- 3:28Speaker 1: doing it right up to the end and then they
- 3:30Speaker 1: get the release written and then they I think I
- 3:34Speaker 1: think there's Um, you might be right. I think that
- 3:37Speaker 1: they like to I think that that bill feels like
- 3:41Speaker 1: if the longer they put it off, the less time
- 3:44Speaker 1: other teams have to see your list of cuts, you know,
- 3:47Speaker 1: for anybody that you might want to bring to the
- 3:49Speaker 1: practice squad. Maybe if that's like point zero zero zero
- 3:53Speaker 1: one percent less chance that one of your guys get
- 3:56Speaker 1: seen on the on the wire as being really, I
- 3:59Speaker 1: don't know, it doesn't make much sense to me. Yeah, really,
- 4:02Speaker 1: to be honest, But I mean, it's it's a media thing,
- 4:05Speaker 1: and I know that people want to know who who
- 4:07Speaker 1: made it, who didn't. I think in general terms, there's
- 4:10Speaker 1: always a surprise or two, but nothing earth's shattering. It's
- 4:14Speaker 1: not like mac Jones is going to get released. Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: that's like the like the sewn Wades of the world,
- 4:19Speaker 1: like somebody going to grab Sean Terence Mitchell Sea. They
- 4:22Speaker 1: could both make it, they could both get cut, probably
- 4:25Speaker 1: be one one staying one guy you know who don't.
- 4:27Speaker 1: There could be anything. Yeah, Um, one thing I wanted
- 4:30Speaker 1: to bring up because I wasn't on the postgame show.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Um yeah, we missed you. Yeah, I'm not being sarcastic,
- 4:36Speaker 1: but there was something that Bill said in his postgame
- 4:39Speaker 1: press conference that I don't think he's ever said before,
- 4:42Speaker 1: and it kind of struck me. You know, obviously, it
- 4:45Speaker 1: was not a good game, and he said that, you know,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it wasn't our best football he did, but he also
- 4:51Speaker 1: said that maybe we left it all on the practice field,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and he's never said anything like that before. And to me,
- 4:57Speaker 1: that's a good and bad thing. Obviously, you want to
- 5:00Speaker 1: be ready for a game, even if it's a preseason game.
- 5:03Speaker 1: But it's a good thing that he felt good enough
- 5:05Speaker 1: about probably that Wednesday practice that he said that that
- 5:10Speaker 1: maybe we left it, you know, So he liked that
- 5:14Speaker 1: Wednesday practice, And you know, I don't want to make
- 5:16Speaker 1: excuses for the team, but you know, you're out there
- 5:19Speaker 1: since Sunday for a Friday game. You're practicing in over
- 5:24Speaker 1: one hundred degree heat for four days, including the walkthrough.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I'll bet you they were a little burned out. And
- 5:30Speaker 1: even that walkthrough was more than a walkthrough. I mean,
- 5:32Speaker 1: that first day that we were there on Monday, it
- 5:34Speaker 1: was I mean, not like a full practice, but it
- 5:36Speaker 1: was more significant, I think than anybody expected, you know,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I mean I thought it was good. I it's hard
- 5:41Speaker 1: to say exactly what it was because you could only
- 5:44Speaker 1: see so much there, you know, like we I'm gonna
- 5:46Speaker 1: tattle on you. Mike gave a stink face when he
- 5:48Speaker 1: heard of that comment. Well, I thought it was fine,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you know, I thought like they had nice finishes the
- 5:53Speaker 1: two days, but overall it was, you know, more of
- 5:55Speaker 1: the same. It was sporadic. You know, they had a
- 5:57Speaker 1: lot of eleven on eleven periods and you'd see one
- 6:00Speaker 1: two plays per eleven on eleven period Usually it's about
- 6:02Speaker 1: six reps, and then you'd have four or five that
- 6:05Speaker 1: weren't so hot. So I'm sure that he's looking at
- 6:08Speaker 1: everything that drills, the one on ones stuff that we
- 6:10Speaker 1: weren't even seeing, and thinking of that as the you know,
- 6:14Speaker 1: all of the work that they did. But I was
- 6:16Speaker 1: just it was it was a little bit disappointing. I
- 6:18Speaker 1: just thought with Trump Brown even like I'm ready to
- 6:20Speaker 1: go home, Like, how often do you hear a player
- 6:22Speaker 1: saying that, like the day before a game, Like, I mean,
- 6:24Speaker 1: he kind of played like it too. So it's ah,
- 6:27Speaker 1: it was not a great end for sure. We talked
- 6:30Speaker 1: to um help me out, Duce the Raiders guy Vinny
- 6:33Speaker 1: bunsignor Vinny good Guy. Yes, Fred thought his name was
- 6:39Speaker 1: good Guy um Sign so signor he thought it was.
- 6:43Speaker 1: He reported that the Raiders also felt that Wednesday practice
- 6:47Speaker 1: was a good practice for them too, So oh that's fine. No,
- 6:50Speaker 1: but I'm just saying, like to Mike's point, I don't
- 6:53Speaker 1: think the Patriots like had the better of play. I
- 6:55Speaker 1: think both teams sort of felt like they've got some
- 6:57Speaker 1: good work. Yeah, and I think that's what Bill meant,
- 6:59Speaker 1: like they worked. I think it wasn't Wednesday, like two
- 7:01Speaker 1: and a half hours. Yeah. Now I'll say this to
- 7:04Speaker 1: you a point about the heat and whatnot. You can
- 7:06Speaker 1: look at that as a good and bad thing too,
- 7:08Speaker 1: because now they're going to go to Miami and spend
- 7:10Speaker 1: a week there. You know, I hope they're not burnt
- 7:12Speaker 1: out by Sunday. Well, It's fine, I think to spend
- 7:14Speaker 1: a week in a place in the payoff as a
- 7:16Speaker 1: preseason game, and the other is a game that counts
- 7:19Speaker 1: well for you. To your line of thought, Freddie, it
- 7:23Speaker 1: was a long two and a half hour practice to
- 7:25Speaker 1: which the Patriots first teamers presumably got most of the
- 7:29Speaker 1: action at that practice on the Wednesday. Right then they
- 7:32Speaker 1: turned around and played on Friday, not against the Raiders
- 7:35Speaker 1: first team, right against the Raiders second and third team.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And I know you're looking at the what is Parola
- 7:39Speaker 1: talking about? Why is he accentuating the fact that it
- 7:42Speaker 1: was against backups? Well, the backups weren't put through that
- 7:45Speaker 1: two and a half hour practice for the most part. Yea,
- 7:48Speaker 1: So maybe they were a little fresher than you were. Again,
- 7:52Speaker 1: you know, could I'm trying, Yeah, it was. I mean,
- 7:56Speaker 1: it was a long two days of work, I mean
- 7:58Speaker 1: with the Raiders, So I get it. And I also
- 8:00Speaker 1: just feel like Vegas generally is exhausting. Yeah, there looking
- 8:04Speaker 1: at it having got there a Sunday, I mean, I
- 8:06Speaker 1: I felt trump Brown's tweet. I didn't have to play
- 8:08Speaker 1: a game and stay there, but I was I was
- 8:09Speaker 1: so ready to get out of there, just the oppressive heat.
- 8:12Speaker 1: It's like you're you're either freezing and air conditioning or
- 8:15Speaker 1: sweating your ass off outside. Right, it's not fun. Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 1: the AC there is like it's not normally ac. It's
- 8:23Speaker 1: like refrigerator. It just feels that way. You know. You
- 8:26Speaker 1: just look out at the city and it's like every
- 8:28Speaker 1: single one of these buildings is cranking a C twenty
- 8:31Speaker 1: four or seven. Right, But it was, Yeah, I couldn't
- 8:34Speaker 1: get like, I couldn't find a happy medium. I was
- 8:36Speaker 1: either in my hotel freezing with like the air conditioning blowing,
- 8:39Speaker 1: or you know, or outside just absolutely drenched in sweat.
- 8:42Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean, I guess it's a good for
- 8:44Speaker 1: them when they get back there and you know, you
- 8:45Speaker 1: have some familiarity with with everything and where it is
- 8:48Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff. But that's I understand.
- 8:50Speaker 1: You guys saw Josh on the way out too. We
- 8:52Speaker 1: stopped and yeah, as a matter of fact, I was
- 8:54Speaker 1: walking out with Bob Socy and who else were Evan?
- 9:00Speaker 1: And this is postgame, probably an hour after all the
- 9:03Speaker 1: press conference were done, and this car pulls up to
- 9:05Speaker 1: us and it's Josh and he says, hey, guys, you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: I just want to you know, say hello, and it's like,
- 9:11Speaker 1: you know, it was nice of him, a little different
- 9:14Speaker 1: than the last time he beat us. But um, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I said, nice joint you got here and goes Yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 1: it's a lot of fun. You know, it is cool.
- 9:22Speaker 1: It is cool. I mean, that was beautiful. Bill said
- 9:25Speaker 1: everything there was to say about it, I guess, but
- 9:27Speaker 1: for the media not quite as friendly. We were trying
- 9:29Speaker 1: to get through all kinds of locked doors and hey,
- 9:31Speaker 1: you got to close those doors. I'm like, I'm with you,
- 9:33Speaker 1: guys the whole time. But it was it was cool.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I just I wonder how they balanced practicing in that heat,
- 9:39Speaker 1: and then like after practice we would go and through
- 9:41Speaker 1: the interviews inside their their bubble, and it was like
- 9:44Speaker 1: so cold in there and so nice, so we'd all
- 9:46Speaker 1: just like collapse, and I only imagine the players like,
- 9:49Speaker 1: all right, we're gonna be inside today, Guys, Like, how
- 9:50Speaker 1: do you balance like when you're outside? I mean, and
- 9:52Speaker 1: especially if the practice and now when August Worth, Yeah,
- 9:55Speaker 1: like it's as hot as it plus you play inside.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It's like going from the sauna to the cold shower
- 9:59Speaker 1: after it's actually supposed to be really good for you.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I wonder if that was Kwon McMillan. After every practice
- 10:03Speaker 1: he couldn't get in that pool fast enough. It was
- 10:06Speaker 1: right there. The stadium itself is beautiful, um, really nice.
- 10:10Speaker 1: On the outside. Um, I think it's you know, a
- 10:12Speaker 1: lot of these stadiums don't have a lot of character.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I think this one does. It has a lot of
- 10:17Speaker 1: character on the outside. The inside though, is pretty normal. Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 1: it's you know, it's an indoor stadium. I think one
- 10:24Speaker 1: of the nice features it's grass inside, and they take
- 10:28Speaker 1: that grass out and water it and all that stuff.
- 10:30Speaker 1: But um, you know, the inside stadium it's it's fine.
- 10:33Speaker 1: It's nothing special. It's not like Dallas where it's got
- 10:36Speaker 1: the big screen or sofi stadium. I'm sure the club
- 10:39Speaker 1: areas are really nice and everything, but the you know,
- 10:42Speaker 1: the general bowl and field area is just a normal stadium.
- 10:45Speaker 1: So they do the same thing on a thing as
- 10:46Speaker 1: they do in Arizona. Where like the grass just that
- 10:49Speaker 1: was out yeah, because it was to the broadcast. Huh No, No,
- 10:52Speaker 1: I was. I was somebody that went on and on
- 10:54Speaker 1: about that. Yeah. So, but but the grass look kind
- 10:57Speaker 1: of it was a very thin, very yeah thin, and
- 11:01Speaker 1: there were patches where it was you know, not existent.
- 11:04Speaker 1: That's the first thing I thought it when time Montgomery
- 11:06Speaker 1: went down, was like, you know, was this some kind
- 11:07Speaker 1: of turf fishy? But it seemed like he just got
- 11:09Speaker 1: rolled up on. Yeah, and he was not out there yesterday,
- 11:12Speaker 1: so I think that's I don't know. Yesterday everyone started
- 11:15Speaker 1: going off of Bill talking about what we'll see as
- 11:17Speaker 1: if that was a positive report. I told the pau
- 11:19Speaker 1: I'm like, Paul, I'm not buying this like positive report
- 11:21Speaker 1: thing on. It seems like semantics right now. He wasn't
- 11:24Speaker 1: you know, people, I think we're almost expecting he was
- 11:25Speaker 1: going to be out there. The Montgomery thing. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 1: Well we both came in and you know, because Bill
- 11:32Speaker 1: did his EI hit it like six, like a little
- 11:35Speaker 1: after six. It was very early. So when I woke up,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I'm seeing on Twitter something along the lines of Bill said,
- 11:43Speaker 1: we haven't practiced yet this week. We'll see what happens,
- 11:46Speaker 1: see what he's able to do, or something like that.
- 11:48Speaker 1: We'll see what you know by the time, you know.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I also thought when I heard the quote off radio,
- 11:57Speaker 1: it was less optimistic than it was written in the tweets.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Then when we talked to Bill around about twelve thirty
- 12:04Speaker 1: ish um before practice, he was asked flat Art if
- 12:08Speaker 1: he had an update and he said no, which told
- 12:11Speaker 1: me that they got here and realized, yeah, yeah he's
- 12:14Speaker 1: not We're not going to have to see it practice.
- 12:16Speaker 1: He's not practicing. Um, so I gotta think he's gonna
- 12:20Speaker 1: miss to at least miss a little time. No, oh
- 12:23Speaker 1: for sure, Like, I don't know for sure that he'll
- 12:25Speaker 1: have to start on I R. I don't know what.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I don't know. Injury. I don't know if you'll have
- 12:28Speaker 1: to wait, you have to miss four weeks. What is
- 12:31Speaker 1: the injury? Some kind of ankles, like ankle, a little
- 12:36Speaker 1: ankle broken. Yeah it's a wide ring. But I'm just
- 12:43Speaker 1: saying if he can't practice, like, I don't know, I
- 12:46Speaker 1: would be surprised if he was available week one that
- 12:49Speaker 1: I wouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised either way, Yeah I would.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I don't know. I just think he got carted off.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I don't think usually guys get carted off, you know,
- 12:59Speaker 1: like when Damian and other players are helping him off,
- 13:02Speaker 1: Like every pool, every player on the bench came over
- 13:06Speaker 1: and pat him as you was getting carted off. You know.
- 13:08Speaker 1: My theory, there's if you can play a day a
- 13:13Speaker 1: week later, get up. Well. I think basketball, soccer and
- 13:18Speaker 1: football the new thing that it's always been in soccer.
- 13:20Speaker 1: But like just you know, every injury is life ending.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's not football. The drama. Oh, I think
- 13:27Speaker 1: that's not football. It's becoming that way. Football is the opposite.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Like Ty Law he had that injury. I brought myself
- 13:37Speaker 1: off the field. Then I called for the card underneath
- 13:39Speaker 1: the stands. No, now it's different now these guys, it's
- 13:42Speaker 1: it's you accentuated. Football does not have people milking injuries
- 13:46Speaker 1: like that, depending on the guy. Soccer, yes, but it
- 13:50Speaker 1: was good. So hey Harris. Harris was around and spoke yesterday,
- 13:54Speaker 1: though there was some question about his concern. I mean,
- 13:56Speaker 1: I was wondering if we were going into week one
- 13:57Speaker 1: with just rom Andre Stevenson healthy. So, Sony Michelle's out there.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Sony Michelle is out there. Fred, I think you can finally,
- 14:03Speaker 1: we can finally bring him back, calling back, you know,
- 14:08Speaker 1: let you spread your wings, Sony, now come back. Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 1: it's just tough. Could be looking for his fourth team
- 14:13Speaker 1: in his five years in the league. Yeah, stud, I
- 14:16Speaker 1: still don't feel like we know what we have in
- 14:17Speaker 1: stronger Harris, and Harris put the ball on the ground
- 14:19Speaker 1: a couple of times in the game. J J. Taylor's
- 14:22Speaker 1: had problems putting the ball on the ground too. So
- 14:24Speaker 1: you know, what does it look like week one with
- 14:26Speaker 1: receiving back. I mean, does maybe maybe it gives Stevenson
- 14:29Speaker 1: a chance to kind of play a more extensive role.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I think he's your best all around back right now.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I don't know about blitz pick up, you know, blocking,
- 14:36Speaker 1: but in terms of passing and catching and running I
- 14:40Speaker 1: mean not passing, catching and running, I know, yeah, he's
- 14:47Speaker 1: I think he's your best all around back. I like
- 14:50Speaker 1: him better than Harris, but I have no issues with Harris.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I think Harris is a good, solid back. I think
- 14:56Speaker 1: we've got a good room. Good those are two that's
- 14:58Speaker 1: a good one two punch. If they're both ready to go,
- 15:00Speaker 1: they'll be They'll be okay, they'll both play until Montgomery
- 15:02Speaker 1: gets back. But you know, it's just how does it
- 15:04Speaker 1: affect things? I mean, last year, you always are going back.
- 15:06Speaker 1: You always had White as kind of the third down guy.
- 15:08Speaker 1: It was so obvious when he would come in, And
- 15:11Speaker 1: you know, now maybe it will in one of those
- 15:13Speaker 1: weird ways of injuries kind of forcing you to change
- 15:15Speaker 1: a little bit. It will, you know, allow them to
- 15:18Speaker 1: not be as predictable. They're gonna have to work somebody
- 15:20Speaker 1: else and unless it's jj T. But as much as
- 15:22Speaker 1: I you know, have hoped for Montgomery, um, you know,
- 15:26Speaker 1: based on his versatility so far in preseason, it's only
- 15:30Speaker 1: been a rumor like I haven't seen anything in a game,
- 15:33Speaker 1: or like oh okay, he can do it, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 1: yeah mont Coomery. Yeah, well, I mean I think we've
- 15:39Speaker 1: seen him. We've seen him as a runner round a receiver. Oh,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I've seen him do both. But like, no big play
- 15:43Speaker 1: so much. Oh, we haven't seen a big play by
- 15:45Speaker 1: the offense. I mean I have one, the forty five
- 15:47Speaker 1: yard passed agglore. Nothing on the ground, Yeah, nothing on
- 15:50Speaker 1: the ground. There's been nothing. And the best running play
- 15:52Speaker 1: they had all summer was the play after the penalty
- 15:56Speaker 1: that wiped out the touchdown, which was like second and
- 15:58Speaker 1: seventeen and Stevenson got like thirteen yards in a complete
- 16:02Speaker 1: you know, passing situation. We have six defensive backs and
- 16:06Speaker 1: that's the only positive running play they've had. I'll be
- 16:08Speaker 1: and I don't mean positive, I mean it's the only
- 16:10Speaker 1: really good running play they've had. They've had four yard games,
- 16:13Speaker 1: but that was like twelve yards on a sweep. Yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 1: it was a good run by Stevenson. It's just unfortunate
- 16:19Speaker 1: because I felt like Thornton and Montgomery were two new guys,
- 16:22Speaker 1: and I Parker is still upstanding and you know, is
- 16:25Speaker 1: still available, but those were the kind of guys that
- 16:27Speaker 1: gave you something different this year than the guys that
- 16:29Speaker 1: you're hoping progress with, you know, Aglare and Bourne and
- 16:33Speaker 1: obviously Myers has been reliable, but I just Thornton and Montgomery,
- 16:37Speaker 1: Parker doing extent, those have been the exciting new twist
- 16:39Speaker 1: to the offense this year, and now you kind of
- 16:41Speaker 1: lost two of them already, So it's it's just kind
- 16:43Speaker 1: of going back to these old guys and kind of
- 16:45Speaker 1: testing the group that you already had even more out
- 16:48Speaker 1: of the gate, which is you know, really really tough
- 16:50Speaker 1: set of games that they're gonna have to deal with.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It's frustrating. Yeah, I mean, especially Thornton, and you continue
- 16:56Speaker 1: to watch you know, the offense and you know, just
- 16:58Speaker 1: the the athletic ability that he has. It's it's unique
- 17:01Speaker 1: within this roster. And I heard a report that he's
- 17:06Speaker 1: gonna have surgery, had it, So that's clavic surgery. Never
- 17:12Speaker 1: had to have surgery. It's just skialed on its own. Yeah,
- 17:15Speaker 1: both of them, Yeah, both of them. So in some cases,
- 17:18Speaker 1: like surgery helps it heal faster, like maybe they put
- 17:20Speaker 1: a pin in or something like that. I don't know,
- 17:22Speaker 1: but um not good. Yeah, I would be now, I
- 17:26Speaker 1: would be stunned if he doesn't open on I are
- 17:29Speaker 1: I would. I gotta think he's gonna miss at least
- 17:31Speaker 1: four games. Yea, And you need that spot, right, roster spot? Yeah? Yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 1: But how's it all going to play out after that?
- 17:37Speaker 1: Is is little Jordan going to be? You know, does
- 17:40Speaker 1: he get into the mix now with out? I think so.
- 17:43Speaker 1: He's probably one of the top guys that that are
- 17:45Speaker 1: getting considered, and you know, saw him more in Vegas
- 17:47Speaker 1: a little bit getting a chance with the top line guys,
- 17:50Speaker 1: but a little disappointing when he was playing with them.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I mean it's just like I get the everyone's kind
- 17:55Speaker 1: of excited, but how many more big guys that don't
- 17:58Speaker 1: really push the speed of the offense forward? Like and
- 18:01Speaker 1: I think right now looking at the offense, I know
- 18:03Speaker 1: it right now is very closely looks like what last
- 18:05Speaker 1: year's offense was. But I still just as much as
- 18:08Speaker 1: I like Thornton, it's like just the quickness, the quickness
- 18:10Speaker 1: continues to be an element that I just don't think
- 18:13Speaker 1: this offense has really any quickness short area, you know,
- 18:17Speaker 1: catch something and make something happen. It's it still feels
- 18:20Speaker 1: a little bit too methodical on offense. Maybe Thornton would
- 18:22Speaker 1: change that as he gets involved. But you know, even
- 18:25Speaker 1: with the quickness he showed, I still think he's more
- 18:27Speaker 1: of an outside longs being kind of guy. And you know,
- 18:29Speaker 1: with the injury, it's like, how many times are you
- 18:31Speaker 1: gonna bring him back and start running him back into
- 18:32Speaker 1: the middle of the line at the point of attack. Like,
- 18:35Speaker 1: I think they got to manage him a little bit better.
- 18:37Speaker 1: So we'll see. We'll see what happens today. Maybe somebody
- 18:39Speaker 1: pops open and yeah, somebody, you know, speaking of the line,
- 18:43Speaker 1: the offensive line, you know, Mac Jones had a comment
- 18:46Speaker 1: after the game about, you know, I gotta you know,
- 18:49Speaker 1: I gotta help my line out by you know, being
- 18:52Speaker 1: where they expect me to be. And I think he
- 18:54Speaker 1: was a little bit antsy during the game, you know,
- 18:57Speaker 1: kind of giving up a little early. He's got this
- 19:01Speaker 1: new habit of spinning and turning his back to the play,
- 19:04Speaker 1: which Russell Wilson can't get away with that. You can't,
- 19:07Speaker 1: you know, because when you turned back around a lot
- 19:09Speaker 1: could happen that you weren't ready for. Ye, and he's
- 19:12Speaker 1: also not, it seems, And I agree with his assessment.
- 19:15Speaker 1: His self assessment there, I think is dead on. And
- 19:17Speaker 1: we asked Joe Judge and Matt Patricia about it yesterday.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Didn't get great answers on it, but I did feel
- 19:24Speaker 1: there were times where he ran into pressure. Yeah. The
- 19:26Speaker 1: first sack was almost I would say ninety nine percent
- 19:30Speaker 1: on Mac. He ran to the only guy that had
- 19:32Speaker 1: any penetration and like got tripped up. Yeah, And I
- 19:36Speaker 1: tried to get outside the pocket right. There was no
- 19:38Speaker 1: reason for yet. He had a very clean pocket and
- 19:41Speaker 1: there was no reason to leave it right. Step up,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you sidestep, you back pedal, But when you turn around,
- 19:47Speaker 1: you don't know what you're gonna be turning into. You know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: that's super uncomfortable. Yeah, that's just one of the weirdest
- 19:52Speaker 1: things for me about this preseason is I thought that
- 19:54Speaker 1: was what stood out to Mac about Mac the most
- 19:57Speaker 1: to me in the first right from the get go,
- 19:59Speaker 1: just that he didn't really seem flustered by everything going around.
- 20:02Speaker 1: He was willing to stand and I still think he's
- 20:03Speaker 1: willing to stand in I just he doesn't really seem
- 20:06Speaker 1: to have that feel that I felt like he had
- 20:08Speaker 1: last year where the pressure was coming. I mean, it's
- 20:11Speaker 1: one of the things that makes Brady one of the
- 20:12Speaker 1: greatest of just having that innate sense of where's the pressure.
- 20:15Speaker 1: If I can just take a little step this way
- 20:17Speaker 1: and buy myself that extra second, rather than oh, no,
- 20:20Speaker 1: here comes somebody, It's all lost. I gotta but you know,
- 20:22Speaker 1: like it all kind of falls apart, and to Fred's point,
- 20:25Speaker 1: doing so without taking your eyes off you know, your
- 20:29Speaker 1: targets down field. You know, Brady did that really well.
- 20:32Speaker 1: And to your point, Fred, not only Mac is seeing
- 20:36Speaker 1: the rush now, but he's turning his back right you
- 20:39Speaker 1: know at times, you know, and I know he you know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: I don't want to ignore everything that happened last year
- 20:44Speaker 1: that wasn't great, you know, because I know we accentuated
- 20:47Speaker 1: because he was a rookie. I think we accentuated everything
- 20:49Speaker 1: that was good. I do think he had really good
- 20:52Speaker 1: pocket presents for a rookie last year. But I do
- 20:55Speaker 1: remember the first pass that he attempted as a pro. Right,
- 20:58Speaker 1: he turns back and threw the ball backwards, right, you
- 21:00Speaker 1: know you remember John who Smith ended up recovering it,
- 21:03Speaker 1: So I like, I do remember there was some bad
- 21:05Speaker 1: plays last year. Yeah, I think that now he's being
- 21:08Speaker 1: looked at more as a quarterback as opposed to a
- 21:10Speaker 1: rookie quarterback. Right, And some of the warts that we're seeing,
- 21:14Speaker 1: I think we're talking about more than they did last year.
- 21:17Speaker 1: But mostly it's all about the coaches. Everybody's talking about
- 21:20Speaker 1: the coaches still. Yeah, I think for me right now though,
- 21:23Speaker 1: and I mean we talked about this a little bit
- 21:25Speaker 1: on the postgame show. I don't really like always get
- 21:28Speaker 1: into this buy in kind of stuff, but I do
- 21:30Speaker 1: kind of get into it with two specific players, and
- 21:34Speaker 1: those players being Trump Brown and Isaiah Winn, who I
- 21:36Speaker 1: think are key players. And right now you've got you know,
- 21:39Speaker 1: Trent Brown obviously did not play against the Panthers for
- 21:42Speaker 1: what were reportedly disciplinary reasons because of effort. We know
- 21:45Speaker 1: he's had a pass to that, the tweet about him
- 21:47Speaker 1: ready to go home. Then you have Isaiah Wynn kind
- 21:50Speaker 1: of getting broken down by dan Orlovsky kind of not
- 21:52Speaker 1: even really paying attention to you know, now, again this
- 21:55Speaker 1: is dan Orlovsky saying it. So I don't want to,
- 21:57Speaker 1: but my radars up in that. You know, Usually you
- 22:01Speaker 1: feel like if the top line is is okay, you're
- 22:03Speaker 1: gonna be okay. But I just have real questions about
- 22:05Speaker 1: these two guys. Was it the right move to flip them?
- 22:09Speaker 1: And that's and that's another great point, fred because I
- 22:11Speaker 1: wonder everyone says, oh, should they just go back to
- 22:13Speaker 1: the offense. I don't think that exists. I don't think
- 22:14Speaker 1: that is even possible to just go back to the
- 22:16Speaker 1: other offense. But I do wonder. I do wonder if
- 22:20Speaker 1: you're gonna go back to something just flip those two guys,
- 22:23Speaker 1: maybe you go back to that. So Freddie, remember before
- 22:26Speaker 1: you left, I sort of was alluding off air to
- 22:29Speaker 1: stuff about the money that's out there, so we can
- 22:33Speaker 1: talk about Yeah, she already had a report. Well what
- 22:35Speaker 1: if you can say what a post on what threads?
- 22:42Speaker 1: Are right? Tempted? I just want to hear your voice,
- 22:46Speaker 1: she taught She taught me. I know I learned something,
- 22:49Speaker 1: Yeah right, yeah, you told me about threats and not
- 22:53Speaker 1: the ones that are sticking out of my shirt or threats. Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 1: just like real quick. We we kind of talked about Brown,
- 23:00Speaker 1: You and I talked, and we talked about it during
- 23:02Speaker 1: the pre and postgame shows. Trent Brown has been a
- 23:06Speaker 1: guy whose work ethic has been called into question in
- 23:08Speaker 1: the past, so now he might be might be again,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I don't know this Gardi is alluding to it. He
- 23:14Speaker 1: said definitively, he was not told of any switch from
- 23:18Speaker 1: right to left tackle before he resigned. Okay, so he
- 23:22Speaker 1: might be a little myth that he resigned as a
- 23:24Speaker 1: right tackle and is being paid as a right tackle
- 23:27Speaker 1: and now being asked to play left tackle, which is
- 23:29Speaker 1: it's different, it's more valuable. Yeah, on the flip side,
- 23:33Speaker 1: we didn't talk about how it might be affecting the
- 23:36Speaker 1: other guy on the other side, Isaiah Wynn, who's going
- 23:38Speaker 1: to be a free agent and now his last year
- 23:41Speaker 1: heading into free agency, is playing right tackle right, which
- 23:44Speaker 1: lowers his value. Yep. And I know that, like fans
- 23:48Speaker 1: like to think of these things in a perfect world
- 23:50Speaker 1: and say, well, they shouldn't be worried about that. Of
- 23:53Speaker 1: course they worry about It's been a livelihoods. Yeah, so
- 23:56Speaker 1: you know, I don't wann't have to go into a
- 23:57Speaker 1: long detailed thing, but that part of the issues I
- 24:01Speaker 1: think is mental. Yeah, and with these two guys, so
- 24:04Speaker 1: that's definitely could be a factor. But you know, and
- 24:07Speaker 1: I'm just looking at purely as what are they most
- 24:09Speaker 1: comfortable at and what are they most what are they
- 24:11Speaker 1: best at? And Trent Brown could simply be a better
- 24:15Speaker 1: right tackle than he is left tackle, and when when
- 24:20Speaker 1: he's healthy, he's fine at left tackle right, you know, right,
- 24:23Speaker 1: And I mean I think like part of me is
- 24:25Speaker 1: holding out hope that Trent Brown, let's just get through
- 24:27Speaker 1: the preseason, Let's get through the eight days in Vegas
- 24:30Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff that he had to
- 24:31Speaker 1: go through. And I think he's physically talented enough that
- 24:35Speaker 1: like he's always going to be six nine or whatever
- 24:38Speaker 1: he is out there. So I'm optimistic, but I just
- 24:41Speaker 1: I think that that short circuits everything if they can't
- 24:44Speaker 1: come out and play and just give Mac, as Paul
- 24:47Speaker 1: said many times, if Mac doesn't have that pocket, we've
- 24:49Speaker 1: seen it to continue this summer. If he has a pocket,
- 24:51Speaker 1: he can step up, he can make all the throws,
- 24:53Speaker 1: he can move the ball, he can keep the offense
- 24:55Speaker 1: on time. It's just it's not going to be a
- 24:57Speaker 1: situation where you have these you know, mobile quarterbacks that
- 25:01Speaker 1: can break out still make plays. Like I think you're
- 25:03Speaker 1: really living on the edge if that's what you're you know,
- 25:06Speaker 1: kind of going in the season with expecting that these
- 25:08Speaker 1: guys aren't gonna be there. I want to tell you
- 25:09Speaker 1: what Zoe told me after the game, right after the game,
- 25:11Speaker 1: but this reminded me. So I'm on the elevator after
- 25:14Speaker 1: the game. We're going down to the ground level. This
- 25:17Speaker 1: guy gets on. He's got full Raiders gear, he's got
- 25:21Speaker 1: a camera, so he's obviously one of those game in
- 25:23Speaker 1: game presentation people that you know. He gets on the
- 25:27Speaker 1: on the elevator, looks at me, goes, bfw man, watch watch,
- 25:31Speaker 1: watch every show. I'm like, you're listening, goes, yeah, they
- 25:34Speaker 1: just pay me here. That doesn't mean I'm a fan.
- 25:37Speaker 1: That's great. Well he must have been excited. There's so
- 25:38Speaker 1: many Patriots there that yeah, and he's like full Raiders gear.
- 25:43Speaker 1: You know. He goes, yeah, they just pay me. You
- 25:45Speaker 1: got it. Should have got a testimonial. But anyway, on
- 25:49Speaker 1: that same elevator ride, uh Zolak was telling me, he
- 25:53Speaker 1: thought it was all the guards, Like all the problems
- 25:56Speaker 1: in that game were the guards. I think the odds
- 26:00Speaker 1: were a problem. I think there were more problems than
- 26:02Speaker 1: just the guards. The only thing I wasn't worried about
- 26:04Speaker 1: on on Friday was David Andrews. Yeah. I think the
- 26:06Speaker 1: tackles struggled too. I think when you know, kind of
- 26:09Speaker 1: got beat for one of the sacks. Justin Harran, Oh,
- 26:12Speaker 1: I don't know if there's a patriot just had a
- 26:14Speaker 1: worse summer than Justin Haran. Yeah, he's either struggled when
- 26:18Speaker 1: he's been out there getting called for holding penalties, lots
- 26:22Speaker 1: a lot of false starts, yep, I mean, and now
- 26:25Speaker 1: with Yadi kajuiced out, he's all you got. I mean,
- 26:28Speaker 1: it's him and him. By the way, who was it
- 26:30Speaker 1: that had that really nice plays at defensive tackle? Two
- 26:33Speaker 1: in a row, two stuffs I think on fourth, a third,
- 26:36Speaker 1: and fourth Jeremiah Farms Farms and that he has the
- 26:40Speaker 1: same number as coudjuiced pa guy in the press cast
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yani couldjuice with the tackle and like, really, well that
- 26:47Speaker 1: happened yesterday we were checking people off and that was
- 26:49Speaker 1: some confusing yesterday. Wait, I thought you said seventy two. No,
- 26:51Speaker 1: I did say seventy two All White. Yay. You know, like,
- 26:54Speaker 1: wasn't there a player that, um they were trying either
- 26:57Speaker 1: he was a deep tackle and they were trying him
- 26:58Speaker 1: at offensive line or the other way around. Ra Yeah,
- 27:04Speaker 1: so I knew there was a player that they would switching.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I'm like, that wasn't cojuiced, was it? I mean? And
- 27:09Speaker 1: that this is you know, more of the same for Cajuiced.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I mean, he was healthy last year, but oh, he's
- 27:13Speaker 1: just coming in. You've got unreliability questions with Wynn and Brown,
- 27:17Speaker 1: and you're kind of hoping that harn And could just
- 27:19Speaker 1: can at least give you some kind of hay right,
- 27:21Speaker 1: maybe your opportunity. And it's also no Dante here anymore.
- 27:24Speaker 1: That was always a big crutch of I think Dante
- 27:28Speaker 1: was a big factor in Trent Brown's success because remember
- 27:32Speaker 1: Trent Brown when he first got here, he had a
- 27:33Speaker 1: slow start, and you know, Dante really worked with him,
- 27:37Speaker 1: and Trent Brown credited Dante with his with his season. Yeah,
- 27:43Speaker 1: you know, well, maybe it's time to get him back.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, though, I've seen I've seen I
- 27:47Speaker 1: having fears everywhere I mean, it doesn't seem like he's
- 27:49Speaker 1: seems like he's maybe just like a consultant now or something.
- 27:53Speaker 1: But it seems like he's still fully around the team.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Not so much Dante but retired for a few days
- 27:56Speaker 1: and got sick of his family and came back apparently,
- 27:59Speaker 1: or they're like, I think Dante's the one they should
- 28:01Speaker 1: have probably been begging. I met another Patriots fan who
- 28:04Speaker 1: worked there. He was one of the security people. I
- 28:06Speaker 1: don't want to give him up because you'll get in trouble,
- 28:09Speaker 1: but he says when they built the stadium, he buried
- 28:12Speaker 1: a Brady jersey at the forty seven yards so big.
- 28:16Speaker 1: He's from Somerville. I love it. I probably gave him up,
- 28:19Speaker 1: but you know, that's amazing though that's actually true. And
- 28:22Speaker 1: I mean, like, who's who was born in Las Vegas?
- 28:25Speaker 1: They all have to be transplants, right, Yeah, well, you
- 28:27Speaker 1: know I think Larry Guy, Larry Guy was from Larry
- 28:30Speaker 1: Guy and from out there. They were born there. I
- 28:34Speaker 1: don't know officially, I don't know natives. It's like I
- 28:37Speaker 1: saw someone wrote Isaiah likely the kid from Everett High. Yeah,
- 28:41Speaker 1: that's had a good camp with the Ravens. Was like Cambridge,
- 28:44Speaker 1: mauld and Everett native. So what how's that about. I mean,
- 28:48Speaker 1: he can only be a native of one of those, right,
- 28:51Speaker 1: like natives. That's okay to just say Boston, right, you know,
- 28:56Speaker 1: because I think he was born in Cambridge, but Sea,
- 28:58Speaker 1: so you can't do that. Like I'm I was. I
- 29:00Speaker 1: grew up like twenty five miles outside of the city.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I was still when I'm out when I was in
- 29:04Speaker 1: like California, Yeah, I could never she's western. Where's the line?
- 29:09Speaker 1: Never you say Western, man, you go outside? I would
- 29:13Speaker 1: say Western Mass? Is that where you can't say? But yeah,
- 29:19Speaker 1: when you're outside of your area, you say Boston, you
- 29:22Speaker 1: don't say every even though when that happens, people still
- 29:26Speaker 1: know and people know Everett, Oh yeah they do. That's
- 29:29Speaker 1: real Boston. I mean, I'm like my coach told me
- 29:32Speaker 1: that story. He went to school in Colorado and when
- 29:35Speaker 1: he was out there and they were like, so are
- 29:37Speaker 1: you from you know, Boston? Why where about? Everybody goes
- 29:41Speaker 1: good football? Good football. I was my my football coach
- 29:44Speaker 1: in high school tack in the day. Yeah, back in
- 29:47Speaker 1: the day. Yeah. Well when I play, they've gone down right,
- 29:52Speaker 1: um now the legendary well they're still great, they haven't
- 29:56Speaker 1: gone down like Brockton. Yeah. Um, but their legendary coach
- 30:00Speaker 1: to go to CM you now he wins super Bowls
- 30:02Speaker 1: and seems all right. Eight five five past five hundred
- 30:06Speaker 1: is the ACE ticket. Hut line web radio at Patriots
- 30:09Speaker 1: dot com is the email address. I only managed to
- 30:11Speaker 1: lose one hundred and sixty bucks in Vegas, which I
- 30:14Speaker 1: thought was great until Fred told me it happened very quickly,
- 30:17Speaker 1: very quickly. I like playing Roulette, which I know was
- 30:21Speaker 1: a suckers game. But the first time I bought one
- 30:23Speaker 1: hundred dollars worth of chips and I was up, and
- 30:26Speaker 1: then quickly I lost it. I think it's rigged. And
- 30:29Speaker 1: then just before dinner the next night, I went and
- 30:32Speaker 1: I didn't realize it, but I had walked into a
- 30:35Speaker 1: high rollers table. So I lost sixty bucks like that,
- 30:38Speaker 1: like on one hand, yeah, so yeah, I didn't lose
- 30:43Speaker 1: any I was. I was pretty good, but but me
- 30:44Speaker 1: and Soci were surprised. It's like you just you. You
- 30:46Speaker 1: don't even realize it till you get out there, and
- 30:48Speaker 1: then you walk into seven eleven. Every spin of the
- 30:50Speaker 1: wheel to seven eleven, there's like just three people sitting
- 30:54Speaker 1: at these machines in the middle of seven to eleven
- 30:57Speaker 1: now or else to it. The place is crazy, you know,
- 31:01Speaker 1: like in the hospitals, like even the patient's roomed on
- 31:04Speaker 1: the doors they have odds like on the on the
- 31:06Speaker 1: patient's you're gonna make it. Yeah, it's crazy. But one
- 31:10Speaker 1: thing I noticed, like I hadn't been to Vegas in
- 31:12Speaker 1: like twenty years, the one thing I noticed immediately in
- 31:16Speaker 1: the airport is you don't hear the dinging ing ing
- 31:18Speaker 1: ing ing ing. It's all electronic, so all the sound
- 31:23Speaker 1: is like really you know, uh, you know, just you
- 31:26Speaker 1: can hear it when you're at the slot machines. I
- 31:27Speaker 1: thought that too in the airport too, because people like
- 31:30Speaker 1: there's no more pulling oh, I don't know if that
- 31:32Speaker 1: some have them something almost feel like you're putting some
- 31:35Speaker 1: kind of like you have some kind of control over
- 31:37Speaker 1: what's going on. Now it's just hitting a button like
- 31:39Speaker 1: that's all it is. There's no more buckets with coins
- 31:42Speaker 1: that people walk around with just your gear up, you're down.
- 31:45Speaker 1: It doesn't I don't know. I feel like if I
- 31:46Speaker 1: was a gamble, that would take away from feeling like
- 31:49Speaker 1: I got it in this, you know well. And it's
- 31:50Speaker 1: even easier to lose money because before you not only
- 31:53Speaker 1: did you have to pull, you had to take your
- 31:55Speaker 1: coin and put it in the slot. Yeah you know.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Now it's you put your card in, you leave it there,
- 32:00Speaker 1: and you just hit a button like you said, and
- 32:02Speaker 1: it just credits it off. You just got a max play.
- 32:04Speaker 1: That's the secret that I've learned from my from my
- 32:06Speaker 1: relatives that live out there. That's the max play, and
- 32:10Speaker 1: they hit it every now, and I mean they always.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I don't play slots, no, it seems like a good
- 32:14Speaker 1: way just to get free drinks. I don't find it
- 32:17Speaker 1: all that exciting, especially when you're just pressing a button
- 32:20Speaker 1: like you're not even giving it the play. Statistically, the
- 32:22Speaker 1: worst thing to gamble on. Oh yeah, craps is the best, right, Craps?
- 32:25Speaker 1: I think is that craps are black? Yeah, one of
- 32:28Speaker 1: those two. Actually, Baccarat is the birth best Baccarat. All right,
- 32:35Speaker 1: let's get to the phones. Eight five five pats five hundred. Uh.
- 32:39Speaker 1: We'll start with Christian in La. What's up, Christian? Hey,
- 32:44Speaker 1: Happy Tuesday to you guys. Hello crew, Hello, Hello, Hey.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Two things I wanted to talk about today. One, my
- 32:51Speaker 1: friends and I were debating that Vegas is real homefield
- 32:55Speaker 1: advantage is not the feat that our players have to
- 32:58Speaker 1: quickly back on me too. It's the fact that but
- 33:02Speaker 1: eight different teams are gonna have to take fifty three
- 33:05Speaker 1: mostly young millionaires into Vegas on a Thursday and tell
- 33:10Speaker 1: them to be good until Sunday, when you have hotels
- 33:13Speaker 1: that have fils with different brothels that will even saying
- 33:16Speaker 1: girls up to your room, because why can't they just
- 33:19Speaker 1: send them on Saturday like every other road game. Well,
- 33:23Speaker 1: I think most of West team, most teams are going
- 33:26Speaker 1: to go on a Friday. You know, some would go
- 33:28Speaker 1: on a Friday. But if you're worried about this, yeah,
- 33:31Speaker 1: just go on Saturday like you do every other game. Yeah,
- 33:33Speaker 1: have a curse, yeah, quickly coming quickly, But it is
- 33:36Speaker 1: a it's the city of Sin. There's no time. Oh
- 33:38Speaker 1: yeah yeah. But they still go to Miami in Atlanta,
- 33:40Speaker 1: that's yeah. Yeah. I mean when you have money any
- 33:44Speaker 1: cities and it seems to have a good effect on
- 33:47Speaker 1: James Harden. Remember that Reddit post a few years ago.
- 33:50Speaker 1: That's a deep dive on me, Alex. You're gonna have
- 33:51Speaker 1: to explain it, Okay, So a brilliant Reddit user looked
- 33:55Speaker 1: at James Harden's stats in cities that are like revered
- 33:59Speaker 1: to have the best strip clubs, and he excels in
- 34:02Speaker 1: those cities and plays really bad in the poor ones.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Oh interesting, I mean that's why that's that's a huge
- 34:12Speaker 1: thing for the Nights, the Las Vegas Nights. That is
- 34:16Speaker 1: because the NHL, it's, you know, eighty two games season
- 34:19Speaker 1: you're in. You know, there's games that you're taking off anyway,
- 34:21Speaker 1: you know in NBA and NHL, and you might be
- 34:24Speaker 1: on a five game road trip and then you're there
- 34:27Speaker 1: and then absolutely they're out hitting it hard. Yeah, that's
- 34:30Speaker 1: a huge advantage for the for the hockey. But I
- 34:32Speaker 1: think in football they're all one game entities. I don't
- 34:35Speaker 1: think you're there all week No, to get in that
- 34:38Speaker 1: much trouble. Now, That's why I wonder about the interstitial
- 34:40Speaker 1: weekend with Arizona too. The football guys, right, okay, I
- 34:46Speaker 1: this seems like a mess. We have a quarterback who
- 34:49Speaker 1: was drafted for his poised pocket presents and you know,
- 34:54Speaker 1: decision making, and he seems days and confused and like
- 34:57Speaker 1: he didn't know what's going on. We have receivers who
- 35:00Speaker 1: are a bunch of number two. We bought in a
- 35:02Speaker 1: aging number one, and now our hopeful star kid is hurt.
- 35:08Speaker 1: We have a running back room where the guys are
- 35:11Speaker 1: putting the ball in the ground. We have unproven guys
- 35:14Speaker 1: and we don't really know how they're going to get
- 35:16Speaker 1: through the front line because guess what, our offensive line
- 35:20Speaker 1: it's not only being held together by like duct tape,
- 35:23Speaker 1: but it's like if you had your two star offensive
- 35:27Speaker 1: linemen at a point where you're saying, please, let's just
- 35:31Speaker 1: kid into preseason, then guess what the odds are they're
- 35:34Speaker 1: probably going to be hurt game one or game two.
- 35:36Speaker 1: So it just seems like the organization is in some
- 35:38Speaker 1: sort of weird state of not knowing what the hell
- 35:41Speaker 1: we're doing and just trying to live on what we
- 35:44Speaker 1: did and maybe it'll all work out. Well, what are
- 35:46Speaker 1: you guys feeling? I think that this season go any
- 35:50Speaker 1: which way. It can go totally solve, it can surprise
- 35:54Speaker 1: us and be better than we thought it was going
- 35:56Speaker 1: to be, or it can be just absolutely average. You know,
- 35:59Speaker 1: it can go anyway. I'm just I'm ready for for
- 36:03Speaker 1: a slow start, you know, I'm ready to take some
- 36:05Speaker 1: months early. You know, that's and that's and let's see
- 36:07Speaker 1: how it really works. I mean, you know, I get
- 36:09Speaker 1: everything you said is is totally right. Um, you know,
- 36:12Speaker 1: as far as the potential issues, but they've told us
- 36:15Speaker 1: plenty of things. We're not game planning. We got a
- 36:17Speaker 1: lot of good work. All that. All right, I'll believe you.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Let's see what happens next Sunday when it actually is
- 36:22Speaker 1: a game plan and you have an opponent that you
- 36:24Speaker 1: know that's beating you. However again now an straight uh
- 36:28Speaker 1: you know, then then then then we can actually say
- 36:30Speaker 1: I'm trying to get so I guess Bill was with
- 36:32Speaker 1: Chris Burman yesterday. Yeah, and Bill said, you know the
- 36:36Speaker 1: typical you know, you really don't know your team until November.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Actually you said October October, but even machine a lot
- 36:43Speaker 1: of people wrote November, but he said said October, but
- 36:45Speaker 1: even then, you know, so that's four or five games
- 36:48Speaker 1: in Um, for this team, it's too late, you know,
- 36:53Speaker 1: like if you think if you have your sight set
- 36:55Speaker 1: on the playoffs. Um. And like they said, I heard
- 36:58Speaker 1: it on when of Paul Shows this morning. That was
- 37:00Speaker 1: fine when Brady was your quarterback because you knew you
- 37:04Speaker 1: were gonna finish strong. I have a funny story about
- 37:06Speaker 1: that later, but like the last two three years, they
- 37:09Speaker 1: have not finished strong, right, And and that's like, did
- 37:13Speaker 1: you know what you had last year in mid October?
- 37:15Speaker 1: I don't think you had what you thought you had
- 37:17Speaker 1: at that point. So I mean, I think as you've
- 37:18Speaker 1: kind of adjusted your expectations for the season. For me,
- 37:22Speaker 1: I feel like where I keep landing a lot of
- 37:23Speaker 1: people calling and want to know what we think the
- 37:25Speaker 1: record is is like I just I want to see
- 37:27Speaker 1: them playing their best football at the end of the season.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I want to see a progression in December where they're
- 37:32Speaker 1: getting better and maybe they fall short of the playoffs,
- 37:34Speaker 1: but maybe the season ends and we say, hey, you
- 37:36Speaker 1: know what, we had something going there at the end,
- 37:38Speaker 1: it finally felt for the first time in three years.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Maybe we didn't make the playoffs, but we felt like
- 37:43Speaker 1: we found what we were doing. We started to get
- 37:45Speaker 1: on track, we started to, you know, get out of
- 37:47Speaker 1: this late season malaise that they've had the last time.
- 37:49Speaker 1: And that's why last season was such a disappointment. You know,
- 37:53Speaker 1: like people you forget that they were like the number
- 37:56Speaker 1: one seed for yes they were, and that's why we
- 37:58Speaker 1: were so disappointed because they totally collapsed after that by
- 38:03Speaker 1: they went from one to five. Right, they got smoked
- 38:06Speaker 1: by the Colts, they got smoked twice by the Bills.
- 38:08Speaker 1: They lost to Miami. The only team they beat with
- 38:11Speaker 1: the lowly Jaguars, And that's why we're upset, right, you know.
- 38:15Speaker 1: And and throw in there too, like the fact that
- 38:17Speaker 1: they smoked the bad teams like it wasn't like like
- 38:20Speaker 1: that just skews so many things when you look at like, well,
- 38:22Speaker 1: I mean they were top ten offense, Like, yeah, well
- 38:24Speaker 1: they hung fifty on So you know, it's all it's
- 38:28Speaker 1: all about context. And I think, no matter how you
- 38:30Speaker 1: cut it, the last three seasons have gone down the
- 38:33Speaker 1: tubes at the end. And I think that that's as
- 38:35Speaker 1: as much of them an indictment as anything of the
- 38:38Speaker 1: draft picks missing or anything, because I think the faith
- 38:40Speaker 1: you put in this coaching staff is that no matter
- 38:43Speaker 1: who they have, they're going to put a solid team together,
- 38:47Speaker 1: that after four months of work, five months of work,
- 38:49Speaker 1: they're gonna play their best football, you know, and no
- 38:52Speaker 1: matter how it kind of ends up, they're going to
- 38:54Speaker 1: be a solid team at the end. And that hasn't happened.
- 38:56Speaker 1: So I think that's as much as anything. Talk about
- 38:58Speaker 1: shaking the faith, like if it doesn't get better at
- 39:00Speaker 1: the end of this year and it's another season where hey,
- 39:02Speaker 1: they look pretty good in the middle and then it
- 39:03Speaker 1: all falls apart again, it's it's hard to justify that. Yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 1: real quick, you talked about, you know, the Dolphins, and
- 39:10Speaker 1: we're going to get heavily into the Dolphins as we
- 39:12Speaker 1: move along with our shows. Um, a little bit of
- 39:15Speaker 1: good news for the Patriots. Byron Jones is going to
- 39:17Speaker 1: have to open up on pup, one of their starting corners.
- 39:20Speaker 1: That's a big loss for them. So he'll miss at
- 39:22Speaker 1: least the first four weeks. Obviously he's going to miss
- 39:24Speaker 1: week one. Yeah, it's better, you know, I'll take it. Yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 1: By the way, that Patriots are plus three, believe, I
- 39:33Speaker 1: believe that's right, and that's gone up because it was
- 39:35Speaker 1: twenty from two and a half to three, I believe
- 39:37Speaker 1: based on the preseason. Yeah, according to your boy Joe Murray,
- 39:43Speaker 1: I heard him saying, yeah, it's like going out to
- 39:45Speaker 1: start understanding odds again. Well, clearly you don't. We saw
- 39:49Speaker 1: your record last year against the Spring, So you know,
- 39:51Speaker 1: Alex Thursdays every week before the game is our pickstay picks.
- 39:56Speaker 1: So the last half hour or so is devoted to
- 39:59Speaker 1: going around the NFL and picking every game straight up
- 40:03Speaker 1: and against the spread. I'm really good at it too,
- 40:06Speaker 1: so guys like dudes, He'll come with notes, Paul and I.
- 40:10Speaker 1: We just do it off the top of our head
- 40:11Speaker 1: and we win. We dominated for the league, though Fred
- 40:15Speaker 1: does have a feel for the least, speaking of a
- 40:18Speaker 1: feel for the league, I know we have calls and
- 40:19Speaker 1: emails piling up. What were your thoughts on Jimmy Garoppolo. Um,
- 40:24Speaker 1: there's something going on there. Well, it makes him more tradeable,
- 40:28Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah, but I thought it was interesting. I think, um,
- 40:31Speaker 1: not so high on Trey Lance. I think it's a
- 40:33Speaker 1: little bit of a hedge on Trey Lance. I know
- 40:35Speaker 1: they've been very quick to say no, they just wanted
- 40:38Speaker 1: to make it more palatable if they need to keep
- 40:41Speaker 1: him and he gets injured, and then I think it
- 40:43Speaker 1: makes him more tradable. I was talking to an ex
- 40:45Speaker 1: player who told me that he's hearing and this is
- 40:49Speaker 1: before the announcement of that contract that you know, Garoppolo
- 40:53Speaker 1: was late for meetings. He was like totally tuned out,
- 40:57Speaker 1: like he oh, he practices on his own you know that, right, No,
- 41:00Speaker 1: he doesn't practice with the team. He does all this
- 41:02Speaker 1: work on a separate schedule by himself. Really because you know,
- 41:05Speaker 1: he had had enough and so I was That's why
- 41:07Speaker 1: I'm really surprised at this, and so they must have
- 41:09Speaker 1: had to come to Jesus talk with him, you know,
- 41:13Speaker 1: if that is true. Well, I know it's true that
- 41:17Speaker 1: he was practicing. You know, let's just say they had
- 41:19Speaker 1: their training camp practices were at like eleven o'clock. He
- 41:23Speaker 1: was going out at like nine thirty and working out
- 41:26Speaker 1: and not staying on the field. But the team, no,
- 41:29Speaker 1: I mean that's in subordination even No, No, it was
- 41:31Speaker 1: all set up that way. Oh they wanted it that way. Yes, yes,
- 41:34Speaker 1: it was ally it was by design. But I think
- 41:37Speaker 1: both because he was too much of a distraction. I
- 41:39Speaker 1: think that well, plus he was rehabbing, you know, he's
- 41:41Speaker 1: coming back from his injury. But he was on his
- 41:43Speaker 1: own schedule. That's I mean. The way I had to
- 41:45Speaker 1: explained to me was it was all worked. I mean, yeah,
- 41:47Speaker 1: there was no animosity. It was all on his own schedule.
- 41:51Speaker 1: So weird, the benefit, very weird, I agree, Fred, I'm
- 41:53Speaker 1: totally the benefit for Garoppolo that he could maybe get
- 41:57Speaker 1: traded easier. Is that, like I'm trying to think that.
- 41:59Speaker 1: I think he's I think he's more easily attainable by someone. Say,
- 42:04Speaker 1: you know, maybe in the middle of the year. Now,
- 42:06Speaker 1: they had to get the number down for them by today,
- 42:10Speaker 1: so the cap you know, situation wasn't you know, a
- 42:14Speaker 1: situation where you had to lose anybody. Um, so they
- 42:17Speaker 1: dealt with that. So that's how they benefit. But now
- 42:19Speaker 1: I think you get to like week two, when you
- 42:22Speaker 1: know someone gets nicked up, or someone's not playing as
- 42:25Speaker 1: well as you thought. Whatever, you know, I don't know,
- 42:28Speaker 1: someone might make a deal for him. Maybe maybe maybe
- 42:31Speaker 1: Jacoby Brissette plays two stink bombs and they're like, you
- 42:34Speaker 1: know what, we have a good team here, we let's
- 42:37Speaker 1: let's make this move. I don't know. Yeah, there's still
- 42:39Speaker 1: a no trade clause though, right, so it would have
- 42:41Speaker 1: to be I believe he has a no trade clause. Yeah,
- 42:44Speaker 1: I think he would go, but that just gives him power.
- 42:46Speaker 1: But he who could he possibly say no to? Right?
- 42:49Speaker 1: He wants to play, he'd want to play, Yeah, commanders.
- 42:52Speaker 1: You know who would you say no to? The commanders?
- 42:56Speaker 1: Would I say No, I don't know a starting job
- 42:59Speaker 1: in the NFL. It's it's hard to find. If I had. Yeah,
- 43:01Speaker 1: if I was going to start somewhere, I wouldn't say
- 43:04Speaker 1: no to anybody. If I was Garoppolo, he's a backup
- 43:06Speaker 1: and he has a chance to start. You don't want
- 43:08Speaker 1: to throw out to Terry McLaurin like you probably play anywhere. Yeah,
- 43:13Speaker 1: let's go to Chris with a T. I A n Hey, Christian, Hey,
- 43:18Speaker 1: how's everybody doing? Good? Good? I know that's how I feel.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Fall Um. I was curious to get um everybody's thoughts
- 43:30Speaker 1: on Bill's press conference Friday, and particularly the part when
- 43:35Speaker 1: he said maybe we left it out all on the field.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I don't know. That's the first thing that we talked
- 43:41Speaker 1: about Freddie's lead. Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry I missed the
- 43:45Speaker 1: beginning of the show. Yeah. I think I've never heard
- 43:47Speaker 1: him say something like that before. And you know, like
- 43:50Speaker 1: I I took it like he was happy with Wednesday's practice. Um, right, Yeah,
- 43:57Speaker 1: on Thursday, I thought of the um you know, and
- 44:02Speaker 1: I know Paul always says this gets a lot of play,
- 44:04Speaker 1: but the football life in two thousand and nine, when
- 44:06Speaker 1: he's standing on the sideline and they getting blown up
- 44:08Speaker 1: by the Saints and he's talking to Brady and he says,
- 44:11Speaker 1: before we get a long way to go, Yeah, I
- 44:13Speaker 1: just can't get this team to play the way I
- 44:15Speaker 1: need to. Like that was the last time I think
- 44:16Speaker 1: they ever heard him that like resigned to like, man,
- 44:20Speaker 1: you know, just we just didn't do anything right, all right,
- 44:23Speaker 1: But we didn't hear about that till afterwards. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:27Speaker 1: right right, And that's all edited and stuff, and I
- 44:29Speaker 1: get it, but I just say, you know, to me,
- 44:32Speaker 1: that was like the real eye opener, and and that
- 44:34Speaker 1: that wiries me, like that, that really does. I just
- 44:38Speaker 1: I think when he was sort of snorting and snickering
- 44:40Speaker 1: and everybody in the spring when they were asking about
- 44:42Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator and he said, well, what players are
- 44:44Speaker 1: we call him? You know, that's kind of come to
- 44:48Speaker 1: bite him in the button. Now. I think, um, you know,
- 44:51Speaker 1: I they really have got to get their craft together.
- 44:55Speaker 1: And what less than two weeks. Yeah, And I just
- 44:59Speaker 1: didn't come out of this camp at all feeling good
- 45:02Speaker 1: a boat anything. I agree it was. It was a
- 45:05Speaker 1: tough camp. Kind of feel good a boat like Anthony
- 45:09Speaker 1: Jennings and guys like that, Um, you know, maybe and
- 45:12Speaker 1: Jude on a bomber looking good on defense and was promising.
- 45:16Speaker 1: But thord And is probably the thing I came out
- 45:18Speaker 1: of camp thinking the best about it and he get hurt, right, Yeah,
- 45:21Speaker 1: I mean I felt I feel I feel like Parker.
- 45:23Speaker 1: I feel pretty good about him. I mean, he is
- 45:25Speaker 1: what he is. I'm not going to tell you he's
- 45:26Speaker 1: a number one wide receiver, but I think what we've
- 45:28Speaker 1: seen through the preseason is that they have a way
- 45:30Speaker 1: to use him. He's going to be involved in the
- 45:32Speaker 1: offense and he's probably gonna play every snap. But I
- 45:35Speaker 1: don't disagree with what you're saying. I thought it was
- 45:37Speaker 1: a little bit striking. I also think though, that everyone's
- 45:39Speaker 1: taking this and running with it as if like this
- 45:42Speaker 1: was a regular season game, that he's just sweeping under
- 45:44Speaker 1: the rug. Like another thing that on defense that I
- 45:48Speaker 1: saw on Twitter, and it made me go, Yeah, why
- 45:51Speaker 1: is to buy getting more reps at the beginning than
- 45:54Speaker 1: Mack Wilson. Because when Matt Wilson's out there, like he's
- 45:58Speaker 1: like a speeding bullet, like he's throwing his body around McMillan,
- 46:02Speaker 1: he's all over the field, you know. I mean, I mean,
- 46:05Speaker 1: I think that the Raiders started with Jacob Johnson out there.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Mac Wilson can't play in those and they played just
- 46:11Speaker 1: a three four defense, and like their vanilla defense in
- 46:14Speaker 1: the three four where they're like, we really need to
- 46:15Speaker 1: stop the run right now, it's not mac Wilson. I mean,
- 46:19Speaker 1: I I with Paul though, I mean maybe it could be.
- 46:21Speaker 1: It should be McMillan. I think he's a better player
- 46:23Speaker 1: than to buy, but I don't think. I think it's
- 46:25Speaker 1: a pretty common storyline right now for everybody to wonder
- 46:28Speaker 1: how big of a role Jelani Tavai is going to
- 46:30Speaker 1: have in this defense and if that's going to be
- 46:33Speaker 1: along the lines of what everybody wanted to have happened
- 46:35Speaker 1: with more speed at the linebacker position, and you know,
- 46:37Speaker 1: he seems more traditional big Mike mean, I mean, I'm
- 46:42Speaker 1: disappointed to a guy like mcgron just based off of
- 46:44Speaker 1: what Mac bro said in his press conference in the offseason,
- 46:47Speaker 1: like he's an over draft pick and the kid has
- 46:49Speaker 1: the kid's been invisible? Yeah, he's haven't seen the kid.
- 46:52Speaker 1: I mean, he was in one preseason game and I
- 46:54Speaker 1: feel like he made some place which he didn't really
- 46:56Speaker 1: do much. Crazy if he doesn't even end up on
- 46:58Speaker 1: the practice squad today, Like if he's just outright, oh,
- 47:01Speaker 1: I think I think he'll be at the no. I'd
- 47:02Speaker 1: do too, But you know how much of it, how
- 47:04Speaker 1: much is true? You know, you hype up all these guys,
- 47:06Speaker 1: and you know I didn't. He didn't really do anything
- 47:09Speaker 1: this camp. So at least some of those players you
- 47:12Speaker 1: can say, oh, he made he made a couple of plays,
- 47:13Speaker 1: he stood out from time to time. Yeah, he really.
- 47:16Speaker 1: It was disappointing for me too with him. Thanks Christian.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Let's go to Todd North Carolina. Hey, Todd, Hey, guys,
- 47:23Speaker 1: will make this really quick. We kind of got a
- 47:25Speaker 1: murderers role for a first four games. So I'm going
- 47:28Speaker 1: to ask you if to come out of this five
- 47:30Speaker 1: hundred would be great in my opinion, what would it
- 47:32Speaker 1: take on the offense and the defense to see us
- 47:34Speaker 1: come out of five hundred the first four games? Thanks guys,
- 47:37Speaker 1: that's pretty day. Yeah, mistakes, I mean, I think it's
- 47:40Speaker 1: just I don't I don't think I think it's gonna
- 47:42Speaker 1: be a whole lot harder on them if they're killing
- 47:44Speaker 1: themselves with bad penalties, pre snap stuff, turnovers. You know,
- 47:50Speaker 1: if they can get their secondary to win the turnover
- 47:53Speaker 1: battle and force some you know, interceptions if the pressure
- 47:56Speaker 1: can get to tuh etc. You know, Kenny Pickett, whoever
- 47:59Speaker 1: it might be. Um, I just I think that's the key.
- 48:01Speaker 1: I mean, I don't is anyone really gonna be surprised
- 48:04Speaker 1: if you go into Week one against Miami and it
- 48:05Speaker 1: kind of looks like every Patriots Miami game where there's
- 48:08Speaker 1: some ups and downs and basically it comes down to
- 48:10Speaker 1: the end. I mean it's probably you know, generally what's
- 48:12Speaker 1: gonna happen. I mean, the first three games you're not
- 48:14Speaker 1: playing the cream of the league. But it's three good tests,
- 48:18Speaker 1: real good tests. And if you're like and I'm a
- 48:20Speaker 1: fan of like stories and narratives, it's like it's the
- 48:22Speaker 1: perfect you know, first test with Miami. This is a
- 48:24Speaker 1: team that you know every year, you know around here,
- 48:26Speaker 1: everyone's like, oh we're the second place team. This team
- 48:29Speaker 1: is beaten you consistently. Is the big wildcard there? McDaniel,
- 48:32Speaker 1: like first year coach. I think so. In a little
- 48:34Speaker 1: bit of the defense, I mean they kept the you know,
- 48:37Speaker 1: the deposit, the defensive coordinator, um, you know, under Flores
- 48:41Speaker 1: is still there. But I mean I think we all
- 48:43Speaker 1: put a little bit of value into Flores facing his
- 48:45Speaker 1: former team and knowing, you know, the attitude that his
- 48:47Speaker 1: team needs to take on. So but you know, just
- 48:50Speaker 1: the speed that they have. I mean, it's just you know,
- 48:52Speaker 1: it's not just Tyreek Hill, it's most too, who's another,
- 48:56Speaker 1: you know, Blazer. I mean, they just have a lot,
- 48:58Speaker 1: a lot of speed. And so all the offseason spend
- 49:00Speaker 1: about getting faster on defense. This is one of them.
- 49:04Speaker 1: And again, like this is why you did it. I
- 49:06Speaker 1: hate to be labor this point, but you spend the
- 49:08Speaker 1: offseason looking at the division and how do we get
- 49:10Speaker 1: to the playoffs by winning the division? And this you know,
- 49:13Speaker 1: there's just been no progress against the Dolphins or the
- 49:16Speaker 1: Bills the last two years. So at what point are
- 49:18Speaker 1: they going to find something that starts to work and
- 49:20Speaker 1: that they can build off of, because right now it
- 49:22Speaker 1: doesn't really seem like they have the answers to either
- 49:24Speaker 1: of those teams. You know, it's fourteen, it's four games.
- 49:27Speaker 1: It's almost twenty five percent of your season with two
- 49:29Speaker 1: teams that you haven't played well against lately. You know,
- 49:34Speaker 1: you know, what else are you doing if you're not
- 49:35Speaker 1: spending your time trying to think about how do we
- 49:37Speaker 1: handle two and the RPOs and and Josh Allen. I mean,
- 49:40Speaker 1: and again, like Josh Allen is an awesome player. There's
- 49:44Speaker 1: no oh, we'll just do this, like you can just
- 49:46Speaker 1: do that, He'll still beat yourself. I have all the
- 49:49Speaker 1: respect in the world for him. And they're all speaking
- 49:51Speaker 1: of Josh Allen. Um, they NFL came out with his
- 49:54Speaker 1: top one hundred and your guy Brady is number one overall.
- 49:58Speaker 1: But Josh Allen was like thirteen. Really stupid. That's stupid.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Throw that list away. I mean, I'd take him over
- 50:06Speaker 1: any anybody, right, throw that list away. You know it's
- 50:09Speaker 1: gonna take Brady. I mean good. I think that was
- 50:12Speaker 1: a respect pick, you know, because it is the other players,
- 50:15Speaker 1: and I can see them saying, you know, oh Brady, yeah,
- 50:18Speaker 1: has no that like, yeah, if you wanted to put
- 50:21Speaker 1: someone else won and Brady to whatever. But Brady was
- 50:25Speaker 1: neck and neck with Rogers for MVP. Yeah yeah, So
- 50:29Speaker 1: I mean, you know, good for him. But to have
- 50:31Speaker 1: Josh Allen that low, that's I just can't imagine there
- 50:34Speaker 1: with twelve guys better than him last year, that's nuts.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Let's go to Zachary in Saint Petersburg, Florida. What's up, Zach, Zach?
- 50:45Speaker 1: Where you'd be? Good? Job? All right? How was Christian Archean?
- 50:51Speaker 1: He had he had to get the rhythm down. He
- 50:53Speaker 1: talked over Matt's intros a few times. He felt bad, Yeah, Matt,
- 50:56Speaker 1: you know, Matt All. Matt's is a little you know songs.
- 50:58Speaker 1: I don't yell at people. I don't know why so
- 51:00Speaker 1: mad Matt got mad out of me, threw a milkshake
- 51:02Speaker 1: at the window, pissed. No, he was good. It's funny,
- 51:06Speaker 1: you know. He definitely has a little bit more of
- 51:08Speaker 1: the I mean that he kept saying, like my show,
- 51:11Speaker 1: a little little biting, little more biting. Yeah, I mean
- 51:14Speaker 1: not like not a ripper or anything like that, not
- 51:16Speaker 1: a not a not a hater, but definitely I thought
- 51:19Speaker 1: there was a little bit more like he was annoyed
- 51:21Speaker 1: with some of the comments. In the postgame show. He
- 51:24Speaker 1: was also locked in on Jared Stidhams for completions as
- 51:27Speaker 1: like you know, like, oh, George Stidham just you know,
- 51:30Speaker 1: like you could tell like you can already see the
- 51:32Speaker 1: cake being baked for the next day of what they
- 51:34Speaker 1: were gonna, you know, rattle cages with um but but no,
- 51:38Speaker 1: he's he's a good guy. Yeah, it seems like we
- 51:40Speaker 1: got to the bottom of his accent a little bit too.
- 51:42Speaker 1: We got him to expand on that, and I know
- 51:44Speaker 1: in Colorado. But it is funny because once you get
- 51:47Speaker 1: locked in on the archy and Christian archie, you know,
- 51:50Speaker 1: because the way he talked, they wouldn't let him on
- 51:52Speaker 1: college radio. Well, yeah, no, he he had a isn't
- 51:56Speaker 1: that what call? Which is for? He had a wicked
- 51:58Speaker 1: what happened to inclusion among our probably? Yeah, but when
- 52:00Speaker 1: you want to go into media, you know, you want
- 52:03Speaker 1: to you give him a chance, and you explained to
- 52:06Speaker 1: him how he might be able to improve himself. That
- 52:08Speaker 1: I always I mean, I know, this is crazy. That's
- 52:11Speaker 1: what I always thought education was. But they you know,
- 52:14Speaker 1: he had a wicked New England accent, and they they
- 52:17Speaker 1: tease that out of him. But now he's got like
- 52:19Speaker 1: a Chicago accent. I get to pop down this. It's
- 52:24Speaker 1: funny because I feel like now networks want that more authenticity.
- 52:27Speaker 1: They want the authenticity. Yeah, at least from my point
- 52:30Speaker 1: of view. Yeah, yeah, the weather's gonna be wicked walking
- 52:36Speaker 1: to Colorado. Wicked hot out here, it's wicked awesome. Yeah. Uh.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Web radio at pagris dot com is the email. I
- 52:46Speaker 1: was watching The Bachelor last night. I was going to
- 52:48Speaker 1: take a break for you, Paul, but go ahead, and
- 52:50Speaker 1: you're talking about you know, Alex brought up the authenticity.
- 52:53Speaker 1: They went there was a kid. There's a local kid
- 52:54Speaker 1: that that's there. I think he was from Salem. I
- 52:58Speaker 1: think he actually is from Beverly Bud. He grew up
- 53:00Speaker 1: in Salem. So they were around, like you know, all
- 53:03Speaker 1: the which places and they go all the all the
- 53:07Speaker 1: cliche stuff they did. And the woman that came out
- 53:10Speaker 1: and like read the start the cards and things, Oh
- 53:14Speaker 1: my god, what an accent. It was. Like I looked
- 53:16Speaker 1: at Beth. I was like, this is what they need
- 53:18Speaker 1: to do for the movies, Like they need to find
- 53:21Speaker 1: authentic people, right, Like it was just I mean it
- 53:25Speaker 1: was comical, yea comical all right. Then she knocked over
- 53:29Speaker 1: the table after she went like that can't be good, right,
- 53:31Speaker 1: did you watch this? I don't I don't want somebody
- 53:37Speaker 1: was that somebody given the tour around Salem, this was
- 53:39Speaker 1: like a flavor of his home. When they do the
- 53:42Speaker 1: they get to at the end like whatever the final
- 53:45Speaker 1: three or whatever they do hometowns and you go and
- 53:48Speaker 1: meet he's already they go and meet the Oh yeah,
- 53:50Speaker 1: which would the end? Isn't there a kid from Northampton
- 53:53Speaker 1: on it too? I don't know. Maybe that's one of
- 53:55Speaker 1: those other reality shows. There's another there's a kid from
- 53:57Speaker 1: Northampton that I rent track with. That's all the show
- 54:00Speaker 1: and it's hilarious. So we knew at the beginning that
- 54:02Speaker 1: this kid made it to the hometown because people at
- 54:06Speaker 1: seeing cameras out and they were filming. It just doesn't
- 54:09Speaker 1: have the same like when reality TV first started. Anybody
- 54:11Speaker 1: whose arm REALITIV felt like they were like a star
- 54:13Speaker 1: now and now they're like a diamond doesn't like everybody's
- 54:15Speaker 1: been on the reality TV show. Now there's nobody who's
- 54:17Speaker 1: like the famous reality people. You have to like your
- 54:19Speaker 1: brief moment in the son and then all right, it
- 54:21Speaker 1: was on season twenty four of The Bachelor. It's the
- 54:22Speaker 1: worst of us, It really is, all right, We're so
- 54:26Speaker 1: it's so scripted too, it's ridiculous. We're gonna take a

- 1:03:07Speaker 1: great moments in history. And I lost, right, Well, you
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: don't exactly predict it properly. If if you're wrong, if
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: you if you think they're gonna win by two touchdown
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: and they're winning by two touchdowns the whole game. Yeah, no,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: it kind of unfolded the way everybody thought it wouldn't.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: But if it was properly and then you were wrong,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: it's not proper You know it's wrong. Wrong. This is
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: why I don't bet. That counts exactly, And this is
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: why I don't gamble. One. This is exactly why I
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: don't gamble, because you get it right, and you can
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: still lose because you get it right. The games to play.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: All right, So did I? So I got it right?
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: So I got it right? Then right, did you want
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: to lose? I won? Then you got to be covered.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: But if you lost the cover, you got it wrong.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: But but just as easily they could have gotten a
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: yard and I wouldn't have covered Aaron. What's up? That's
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: why you don't gamble. That's why I do not Gamble's
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: trying not to agree with Paul. This is concern effort.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Say you got it wrong, but I didn't get it wrong.

- 1:04:21Speaker 1: are you could read some of them? Yeah, I want
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: to do that. Um, it's Duce, it's Alex, it's Paul,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: it's me, it's Matt and the booth and Travis and
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: West Virginia writes in why do the fans in the
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: media feel that the players and coaches owe them a
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: level of transparency similar to that of an elected official.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: This is sports, not government. When the media asked Bill
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Belichick why he's doing things the way he's doing them
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: as relates to the play calling, I think his answer
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: should be, none of your business. Tell me why I'm wrong.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: That'd be a better answer than the one he's giving. Ps.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: I once saw Ben Roethlisberger get carted off the field
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: and returned to play in the same game. I think
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: this should be illegal. I started, I lived in a boot.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: I mean yeah, and he's the poster child for exactly
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. I can't say the word on
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: the air, but yeah, I got you, I got you.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Um Terrence Mitchell. Yeah, another reported, reported, reported release. I
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: think it's an interesting one. I think he was a
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: guy for me that was right on the bubble with
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: like Wade, some of those safeties. So I do nothing
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: against Terrence Mitchell, but I just like that we might
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: be leaning more towards guys you drafted, or guys you
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: young guys, Wade and the Jones boys, and you know,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: no no offense to him, but I think just the
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: sooner you start, you know, it's the Paul thing. Get
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: these young guys some experience, get him out there. If
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Wade's legit and and has might be a chance to
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: day be better. So oh all right, never mind, what's
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: the number. What's the number of cuts we have to make?
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I think it was twenty seven, so we're down probably
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: twenty five now a lot twenty five more every other
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: team too, because you hate to say it's a lot
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: because sometimes in the past, like the Patriots, have cut
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: guys early so that by the time you get to
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: cut day, it's like you need ten. Yeah. You know,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: I thought yesterday we were not to practice, that there'd
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: be some guys missing, but that they had the whole,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: the whole kitten kabuddle out there. Yeah. I mean, you're
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: gonna keep those guys through the third preseason game. Yeah,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: you know, you're gonna have close to the roster limit
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: at that third preseason game because you want to make
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: sure that you have guys to play. Yeah. Yeah, And
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: there's nothing like releasing veterans a little bit early to
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: get them a jump on stuff. And I think, really,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: I think they do it a little differently now too.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: With those those cuts. Are you know the eighty you know,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I think it goes what ninety to eighty five and
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: then eighty right two weeks ago. Yeah, so I think
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: it's a little bit of a different timeline. It used
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: to be you had to go from I think it
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: was eighty to seventy five but late and then the
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: very next week, like you know, the fourth game, then
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you had to go. And I think sometimes that first
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: five guys like a cut would be guys like Terrence Mitchell,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: you know, the veteran guy. You've been around the league.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Give you a chance to hook on somewhere. Yeah. Uh,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Trent writes in um thanks for another great offseason of
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: donut debates, TV talk, and of course more soap with
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: a slot. But teams making their cuts today, I was
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: wondering if you can remember a player who was cut
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: from their team signed with New England and then made
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: an immediate impact cut from their team and then signed
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: with US and made an immediate impact. Well I can't.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: I can't remember like some specifics, but there have been
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: guys that they've signed and made they made immediate impact,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: like Gibbard, Gaffney, Mike Cloud. Yeah, Brian Cox, Well, they
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: signed him like during camp, right, it was a late
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: camp signing. But I'm talking about I think he's talking
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: about Now, okay, Danny Woodhead he got cut from the Jets, right,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: was there a guard Bryan now, Brian what's his face? Oh? Yeah,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: from Kansas City. Yeah, that wasn't one was I forget
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: how they got him. I think he might have gotten cut. Yeah.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I thought he was a guy who was retiring and
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: we hit him out of retire something weird about him,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: but like that he was supposedly coming back constantly for us.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: But I think we originally got him like that. And
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: then what about the Cardinals? Adrian what's his face? The safety?
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: They will big safety? Did, wasn't he? He never made
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: a cut. But see, those guys are just guys you
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: signed as free agents. I'm thinking that. I'm thinking I'm
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: not sure the emailer is looking for someone that maybe
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: gets cut today. The Patriots signed Thursday, and he plays
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: a huge role on if Next Sunday he's talking about
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: like if Mitchell signed with another team and made an impact,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: that's you know, I mean, it's a huge indictment if
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: a player does that of the team that released him,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: that he could go to another team, or at least
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: it would say I mean, maybe you're really deep as
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: hell at that position, and you know, yeah, I could
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: see like, oh wait, who is it an indictment on Well,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: kind of both teams a little bit. I think the
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: team that has I think it's more of the indictment
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: on the team that gets the guy. Yeah, that he
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: can actually step in. He didn't have anybody and this
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: guy just came off the street and he was better
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: than anything you had. Like that's tough. Um. Also, looking ahead,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: I'm going to the game December twelfth in Arizona. Looking
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: for tips on places to stay. Any recommendations are appreciated.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: What I mean, it's a lot of places. I mean,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: I know for the Super Bowl, we stayed at that
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: place in Scottsdale, the Caroland Resort, Yeah, Kirkland was this
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: something like that. Yeah, that place was beautiful. Yeah, and
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: I'm sure it's a pretty penny too, but you know,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: it's got all the amenities, golf, and we spent So
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: we stayed at a couple of different places there that
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: were beautiful. One of them was like that what was
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: that like ranch kind of a place? Oh yeah, that
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: was in the literally in the middle of the desert.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: That was nice, like a dude ranch or something. Yeah
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: kind of. I don't know. There was a there was
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: a um go out on the horse. It was like,
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: uh on the property like this western town that like
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: you could rent out, Like we had a big party there. Yeah,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: I remember that we had the welcome party there. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: And did you believe Arizona it rained that not like
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: and it was like oh muddy walking around like Arizona,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Like what are the odds? Rains in Vegas too. I
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: was like I've never seen this before. Well, you guys
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: are there, it's still too hot to be outside hot rain.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I just remember the night of after you know, Patriots
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: win and you have the party at the hotel and
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: you have to have tickets to get into the party,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: and it was you know, like there were guard shack
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: and all that. People just walking like zombies through the
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: desert to get to this thing. And like like I'm thinking,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: where are you coming from? There's nowhere, Like you must
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: have parked like miles and walked through the desert at
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: night like with rattlesnakes and scorpions. And it was like me,
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: after that Patriots practice on Tuesday, I just wandered into
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: the desert and called us tumbleweeds. Going by speaking of
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: the desert, I finished better call sault the whole thing.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I'm really good, thumbs out, really good. Yeah, yea for
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: those people who are into that. Anybody doing the new
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Game of Thrones. I haven't watched it yet. I will, yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: I don't know Will and his boys. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: If I don't know, Maddie, I don't know about this
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: one yet. You don't like, you know, I think I
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: think what I'm realizing is what I like most about
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: the first game of you don't. I love it impending
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: battles of the zombie, you know, the White Walkers and
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: you know drag, you know, and it was all these
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: different pieces and you just felt like everything's gonna build
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: to a crescendo and there's gonna be a huge fight
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: in a variety of fronts. And this one just feels
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: more to me like political intrigue and a power struggle.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: And I mean, there are dragons, but I think I
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: like the social I think I like definitely the Phantom
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Menace of game. I like the fantasy element of a
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: little bit more in the and the Wall and going
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: up into the North and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: So we'll see I'm only two ups in so half
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: of the second episode, but these two episodes didn't. Yeah, alright,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: alright forgot Russell and Arkansas. How active do you think
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: we'll be in bringing in the trade market today? How
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: annoying is it when someone on Twitter says some kind
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: of big news like breaking news a Julian Edelman returned
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: to the Patriots as a real possibility per sources. Also,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: did you guys see that the Patriots apparently called the
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Vikings about Alexander Madison per sources. I was just looking
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: it up because I thought Bill had some interesting kind
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: of like in the press conference yesterday, kind of mentioned like,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: you know, teams to be calling and maybe there'd be
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: something there. I don't mean, I'm sure that there always is,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: but I just thought it was interesting that he highlighted it.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Harvey Longey, according to Mike Reese, he's no longer than another.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: Patriots had informed Harvey Longie have their intention to release him.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: There's three um Peter is in Bournemouth, UK with Jimmy's
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: new amended contract at the forty nine ers. Do you
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: think this could entice a team or even the Patriots
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: to trade for him? Maybe a six or seventh round pick.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Would you be for him if he's available. No, And
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: I don't think the Patriots would be interested in him.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: And I don't think you get in Garoppolo for a
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: seventh round pick. But yes, I do think he's more
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: tradeable with it. Yeah, I don't. I don't at this point,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: I don't want him. You know, you decided you're going forward, Jones,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: That's right, I don't. I don't need to complicate the situation.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: You know. If I get Jimmy, it's because I got
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: a problem and I need him to play, you know.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: And I feel like you need every draft pick at
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: this point because you need to continue to feed the way.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Like does Jimmy Garoppolo going to be had for a
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: six or seventh round pick? Like I think you have
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: to give up. I mean, I mean anything more than
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: a six or seventh is something the Patriots I think
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: need at this point. I don't know. I can't see it. Um.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Let's see, Philip writes in UM from Rio de Janeiro
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: and then from Paris, so he's been around. I'm very,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: very concerned about our record this season. After the Raiders
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: lost to finish a very worrisome preseason. I'm under the
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: impression that Bill did the complete opposite of what he preaches,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: stacking bad days and decisions. He gave away Marcus Cannon
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: had a contract. I think he meant Mason had a
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: contravert versaill to say the least, draft manage the coaching
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: staff situation, poorly, underestimated the difficulty of transitioning to an
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: allegedly simpler scheme, had no significant addition via free agency.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: I don't know. Parker's pretty good. I failed to construct
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: an adequate environment to help Mac Jones, and ran a
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: concerning training camp in terms of performance and discipline with
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: all the fights. Do you guys agree with these points?
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Is that an overreaction? I'd love to hear your opinion
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: on that. And also to the following question going into
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: the season, do you feel better about the twenty twenty,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: twenty twenty one or twenty two twenty twenty two season?
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: I feel better? I don't. I mean of the last
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: three seasons, which you're more optimistic heading into the season.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: I think twenty because we thought Cam Newton might have
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: a comeback, right, I thought Cam Newton could have a comeback,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: but that roster was not very good. The last two years,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: the roster has been better than it was that year,
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: wouldn't you say? Yeah, I mean there's definitely been turnover.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I probably felt going into last year about the defense
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: with high Tower and Van Noy, and eventually Collins like,
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: I felt probably last year better about that. But yeah,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: you still knew it was a rookie quarterback. You didn't
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: know what you were going to get out of him.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: So I don't know, I mean, everything you frame it
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: that way, it's it's the most negative way to look
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: at every single you know, solitary aspect of offense. He
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: was like, am I overreacting? I'm like, yeah, probably, I
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: mean nothing that you said I would say that's wrong,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: But how did you just put that's the most negative
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: way every He's looking at everything glass half full, half empty,
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: you know. And you know, I mean I guess and
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: from his point of view that that is all true.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: But you know, I also do think that there is
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: some truth that they're going to come out and they'll
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: look more competent than we're expecting them to look. You know, Like,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: I don't I don't think that this is the end
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: all be all of preseasons I just think everybody's hanging
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: on every single thing that the team does, and you
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: know it's there is some perspective. I think that comes
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: with preseason. But look, I'm not giving them a pass.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: I'm just giving them a pass till next Sunday. Then
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: we'll see how looks, and then he might be right.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: It's gonna be great. I can't wait for the pots's
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: gonna be like. That's about either that or we're going
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: all the way. I'm giving him until next week. Yeah,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: there's no way it's gonna look as bad um in
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: the regular season when the game planning and whatnot. Drew dejarlais,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: oh won't do there's four Sorry, Drew Um not. I
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: mean curious about blood Cell. I mean I think the
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: safety group that's and are all those guys gonna Cody Davis?
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: You think Schooler is gonna stay? All those guys, but
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I think Cody Davis and Schooler will be special teamers.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I do Neil and new Brunswick. I'm upset about so
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: many things, but I've narrowed it down to one thing
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: that impacts the most things. Matt Patricia. It's been documented
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: that some players in the past hate playing for him.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: I get the vibe both Mac and old Line don't
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: like playing for him. One on Earth were Bill and
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Robert Kraft thinking making him a coach and more so
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: making him the offensive core. If you're changing the offense anyway,
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: then what would have been wrong with going out there
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: and hiring an actual offensive coordinator. If this fails, Robert
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: needs to tell Bill to change his ways or hang
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: them up. This whole thing reeks of Bill belichick arrogance,
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: the same arrogance that led to we don't want Brady
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: back because he's too old. Feels like Robert got that backwards.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: Should have kept Tom and let Bill walk. On hindsight.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Sorry for the rant, but I'm going off the deuce
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: end respect. I respect that. Uh. I mean it's funny,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: I said to Paul upstairs. I feel like Maddie Pee
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: is like bending over backwards to be affable and friendly.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Point he just he's everything, is a big smile, and
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: you know, even if he's not answering the questions, he's
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: he's doing it um in a friendly type way. And
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: I mean, I I don't really see the thing about
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: players don't like him. I don't, I don't, I can't
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: speak to that, and I'm not sure what that is.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: I mean, meanwhile, you got Dron Harman like posing for
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: a picture like they're best friends out in When he
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: was here, the defensive players absolutely loved him. I could
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: tell you that. What did everyone else and all the
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: fans like he was the rocket scientist that could do
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: no wrong way. Yeah, I don't know about the fans,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: because I think the fans were a little upset that
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: he wasn't aggressive enough defense. Yeah, and I was with him.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: I was with him, so I mean I can say,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: but the rocket scientist thing I'm with Alex like that
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: was like this cool thing that we like to, like, yeah,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: tweet about. But I found it maddening at times that
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: it felt like he was as far down the bend,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: don't break conservative defense, tackle well, don't give up a
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: big play, and it'll all kind of work out in
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: the end. And then I mean there's just the contrast
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: then when Flores took over and you were like, oh
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: my god, they've unleashed the dogs, like we've been waiting
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: for this. You know, how will that translate to offense?
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: I don't know, But I just I found Maddie p
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: incredibly likable and I mean, and I also say, like,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I don't I don't know if the coaches did him
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: any favors with putting him like this. I mean, we're
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: already talking about offensive line issues that could be the
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: critical problem. He's the offensive line coach, and he's also
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: got a coach to call the plays too, So I
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: get that criticism of you know, as much as you,
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: however you feel about Mattie p Like even if you
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: were on his side for a second, don't you do
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: you feel like he's being put in position to be
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: successful this year because I feel like unless the offense
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: is like amazing top ten, he's got a hand in
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: some kind of criticism, whether it's the blocking, the play calling,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Mac Jones's development, any of that. He's he's all the
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: guy in that. So that's my only concern with this
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: is that like he's gonna just kind of be the
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: you know, almost like the Roger Goodell of the NFL,
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: where it's like here you go go stab him, it's
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: all his fault, you know. I mean I feel like,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: at least me personally, like it really does start and
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: stop with the O line for me, like, how can
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: we even know what the passing game or running game
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: even looks like with how the offensive line has been
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: with like free runner, you know, free rushers coming in
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: like who you know, Like that's just all that's up front.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I think it's everything. I don't know how anybody can
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: watch anything that's happening on offense and be happy based
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: on this. Yeah, I think you just gotta I don't
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: think they were runner away Rusher's son Friday night. I
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: just think he just started running into people too. No,
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Like I think you got to pick somebody. I think
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: you got to pick somewhere to start. Oh, I think
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: the line that's where you start. I don't think there's
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: any question. The line is the biggest problem. You know,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: get that square issues right now? Gets you know, what's
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: the real running game? I mean, as brought it up, Like,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: what's the real running game look like? All right? I
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: mean we know every single time, all right, wide Zone,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: let's give it a whirl. You know it's it's but
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: it's more more impressive when they when they do the
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: old stuff that they did, the power and the gap
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: and all that, so you know, you know they can
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: do it. You know they know how to do it.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: I think there's still questions if Michael and when you
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: fits this, you know what they're trying to do, and
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: you know, it's just like I hate to put it
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: this simply, but like even if they just like creased
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: one of those wide zone runs during the preseason and
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: like all of a sudden, Damian here is just you know,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: was gone for like sixty yards that oh you know,
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: like maybe it's there. I mean, maybe it still is,
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: but there just was nothing to make you believe that
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: that you know, you're willing to give them some time
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: to develop and adjust to a new system, And Okay,
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: I understand why you're doing it, but there just wasn't
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: a lot of progress being shown. So we'll see our
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: phone's are stacking up. Let's empty him out. We'll start
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: with if Kevin in Florida on the Ace ticket outline. Hey, Kevin, Kevin,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: appreciate you think of my call. I just had a
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: quick UM question or update that I wanted to throw
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: in here and listen to you guys. I'll drop off, um,
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: but just Mike rees about twenty minutes ago, just recording
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: that Darren s Mitchell has been informed that he'll be
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: cut by deadline. Yes, we saw that we talked about it.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: That's it? Okay, Wow? Wait is he he just wanted
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: to call and tell us that, to tell us that
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: Mike Rees talked about something we talked about. Yeah, that's
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: all right. I don't don't get Oh no, no, I do.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: I was gonna put a post up about it. I do.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Scott and Wellesley, Hey, Scott, Scott. The reason that I
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: get a little prisnikity on those because those are the
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: people that will say, stopped talking about donuts, right Scott? There?
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: Oh there he is you guys. I want to talk
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: about the team in the position we find ourselves in,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: UM go into this year, and I was just curious
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: which which I have two questions. Number one, which draft
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: do you think will prove to be worse UM two thousand,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: nineteen or twenty twenty two? And nine? One my second
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: questions about Matt Patricia. Yeah, I think nineteen has already
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: proven its some teen. Yeah, I wouldn't. I mean, just
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: based on what I saw in Taykawan Thornton and the
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Jones boys, Yeah, I like I like the Jones is
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: a lot. Now. You know, I've told you I think
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: what Scott is getting at. Yeah, which which was predictable
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: because he's too small, and what if Cole Strange can't play?
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Cole Strangers are concerned to me? Yeah, right, so there's
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: your one and two picks. Strange are terrible in the
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Las Vegas game. I can't you know, people, you know,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: the Rams lasted the Patriots for picking him. He got
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: he gotta beat like a drum in that game. I'm
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: wondering if Pizza bust as well. I mean, it's easy
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: for everyone to say two thousand nineteen because you know
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: everything except maybe Damian Harrison, Bailiard plus Yeah. Yeah, I
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: think it's one thing to bust on a wide receiver
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: in the first round or but when you bust on
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: a guard in the like, if you pick a guard
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: in the first round, you've got a hit. You've got it.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: This guy has to have a ten year career in
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: the NFL. Well, I just think that it's easy to say,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: you know, to Scots by. I think what Scott's trying
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: to say is all the guys from nineteen, now that
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: you've had three years go by and most of them
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: are gone, you know that they that's a bad draft.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: In twenty twenty five, are we looking at like Marcus
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: and Jack Jones and the only two guys still around
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: and the rest of them are gone, then you might
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: say this was just as bad of a draft as that.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: I don't think that'll be the case. I think Thornton
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: can play, and I love especially Marcus Jones. Jack Jones
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: to me, his style I think is going to get
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: him in trouble. Yeah, Marcus Jones can flat out play.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: I think he's going to be a really good player.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Thanks Scott. Let's go to Patty and Agawam Hey Patty,
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: Hey everybody, how are you today? Good? So quick question
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: on the offense, like everyone else today, how long do
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: you give it before they just start give sort of
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: scrap maybe not scrap, but put on the back burner
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: the zone run and just move more towards like Jock Gun,
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: spread amount and see what Mac can do to win
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: them games. Yeah. Week one, I mean I think that's it.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: Like that's the only time they've looked like a semblance
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: of what they had last year. And I think you
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: saw it on the fourth drive against the Raiders, that
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: they spread guys out. You know, as long as Mac
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: had some time, he was able to find guys that
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Agalore on the Crosser, I was like, Hey, there's a
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: Patriots kind of play, so I would expect that, and
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: I would all I'm also got my intent out for
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: our po stuff. I think that's one trick in the
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: bag that we've seen couple here and there. Nothing extensive,
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: but right now as they get into private practice, I
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: think that's what they got to try to do it,
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: and I think we'll start a show yea, and starting tomorrow.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: Whatever they're gonna do in terms of how they're gonna run,
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: they gotta that's it. It's there's no like we're gonna
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: do some of this and some of that. They got
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: to be totally devoted to it for the next two
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: weeks to get ready for Miami. There's no more experimenting
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: unless you feel okay, zone run is what we're gonna do,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: and you gotta just do it. I just I just
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: refuse to believe that they're going to continue trying stuff
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: that doesn't work. It doesn't mean that they're not going
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: to try stuff that doesn't end up working, but I
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: don't think that they're going to look at the stuff
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: that was completely ineffective in the preseason and say, we
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: got no choice. We gotta just we have to try
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: to own run here. It's like they're not going to
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: do that. I think they're going to put everything they
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: have into winning the game. Every single play that goes
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: into the plan. They're gonna feel like we have confidence
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: in it to run um. But you know, it's it's
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: like every season, you just don't know. In that first
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: couple weeks of the season's a question from Mike, can
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: I can I throw this out? Sure? Because Mike, you
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: remember these sorts of things better than I do, because
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: you look at the numbers, and you know, I don't
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: care about it was like under center play action a
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: problem last year. I kind of remember it as a strength.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: I don't I couldn't tell you. I'm not sure I
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: never did that. And there's what happened to the deep
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: tiffed up. I trusted you. Yeah, yeah, sorry, No, under
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: center not nothing interests me. But I mean it's just
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: you know, Mac was never really under center. Like, I
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: don't think it's a good thing that we have to say,
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: stop putting them under center, just let them play. I
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: don't think you can just do that. Let's just not
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: do that because he can't do it. Like and I
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: in Max's defense, I don't remember that being a problem
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: last year. No, And I don't remember him struggling under
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: center last year. But maybe maybe I'm not remembering. I mean,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I don't want to make it sound like that that's
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: all it is. That wasn't a shot at. Yeah, that
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: was a shot at like the vast majority of people
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: that you hear. With all the fixes, yeah, I'm sorry
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: you to fix it. I'm sure that they'll be um.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: You know that that he'll be under center plenty, um,
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: you know. But it's just I think that they got
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: to make sure that they get a couple drives where
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: let's spread them out. Let's see how they match out.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: You mentioned Byron Jones is out, Let's see what matchup
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: we get. I mean, at this point you wish Thornton
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: was out there, because then you could even go further
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: down the depth chart. But you know, let's see who
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: we can get your Kobe Myers matched up on in third,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: third down moments and you know, keep the chains moving.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: So I still think, though, no matter all this talk
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: about scheme and all that, it's just going to come
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: down to kind of mistakes and be kind of the
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: traditional first game of the season where like last year,
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: it was back and forth, fumble, they score, they win it.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: You know it's it's it's one or two plays. Thanks. Um,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: let's go to Tim in Florida. What's up? Oh? Tim
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: gave up? Thanks Hardy. How about Mike and Cincinnati? Mike? Hey? Okay?
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Um with the with the Terrence Mitchell Cook, do you
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: guys do you sean Sean Wade sliding in there? I
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: think he might make the team blood soa, and I
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: think that's where you're I think you could make the team.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: But I mean you've really got at this point, You've
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: got Mills, Jack Jones, Wade, and I guess Jonathan Jones.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: As you're outside corners. I mean that's that's it. I
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: don't know, are you gonna go into the season really
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: with three of those guys three outside corners? That seems
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: a little bit light to me. So Um, I think
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: he showed some promise. I'd be all for it. Keeping Wade.
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: I mean, even with the Harvey Longie thing, It's like,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: I feel like Paul right now, I'm like the more
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: like guys who we've kind of seen what they're ceiling
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: is are out gives more opportunity. I think Wade is
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: going to stay. I just don't think he's very good.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: There's a difference, and I understand, Like take a guy
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: in his second year over a guy with Mitchell eighth
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: or ninth year like that. I mean, I think that's
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: a rational fact. Like I don't think Terrence Mitchell was
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: any great shakes over sha If. I thought Terrence Mitchell
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: was demonstrably better than Sean Wade, I would say this
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: is a money saving thing. I don't think that's it.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: I think those guys are similar. Ye, all right, No,
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to this to find cut. I think
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: that's how you pronounced he's not gonna get cut. Don't
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: say that, Star, I don't like I shouldn't say that.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: I don't think he's gonna get cut. My opinion, I
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: don't think he'll get cut. Alright, Yeah, don't you gotta
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: take care? All right, Thanks Mike, Mike and Cincinnati. Let's
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: go to Joseph in Kentucky. What's up, Joseph? What's going on? Guy? Hey,
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I don't really have a question about the offense. You
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: know everybody's asking that question. But who do you all
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: think gonna have a huge impact? On this season for
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: the Patriots. Um, well, I hope it's Parker. That's a
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: great one. I mean you brought him in because you
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: thought he was better than and what you had, and
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: you know, and I think he's really good. So I
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: hope he has a big impact. I maybe throw Aglore
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: in there. I just but I think Parker's a good one,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: just because he's an unknown quantity. And as I said,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: your unknown quantities have kind of dried up at this
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: point or but gotten injured. So and now, of course
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: the biggest impact has to be Mac Jones. I mean,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: he's he's got to take that year to jump, not
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: a sophomore slump. Yeah, year two jump. Okay, So we
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: had some news, thanks Joe. You know, a bit of
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: an eyebrow raiser, not a stunner, but kind of surprising.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: Kevin Harris. Yeah, Tom Pellicero says the Patriots are waving
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: RIPTI sixth round pick Kevin Harris right now. My guesses
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: he'll be back on the practice squad. But you can't.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: I thought he was better and more productive than Pierre
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: Strong all summer. Yeah. Now, you made a point earlier,
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: and we talked about it a lot in the postgame show.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: We had a couple of big plays in the game
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: the other night, both of which he didn't end up
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: with the ball after the play. Right, you can't do that? No,
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: that's what any since Harry said nope, can't have it.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: But Pierce wrong. I think is those special teams too,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: that he's got maybe some more special teams potential. That
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: might be why you pick one or the other with them.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: But I agree with Paul. Didn't really see much out
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: of either of them in the fumbles. Mike writes in
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: with all the negativity surrounding the offense, the defense isn't
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: getting the credit it deserves or criticism. Last year we
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: couldn't stop the run at all, and through summer the
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: D line has been stellar. New faces on the D line?
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: So where did this improvement come from? Actually, there's no
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: new faces. I think that's what he meant, now face Okay, yeah,
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: I think, Oh no, you're right he said no new faces. Okay, sorry, Mike.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: I mean i'd say I think has been surprisingly good.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: You know a number of plays, but I think it
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: just goes back to Judeon and Barmore kind of playing
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: more effective. I throw Jennings in there, too, as a
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: think they've been disruptive, those kind of guys. I mean,
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: but you know, as Lawrence Guy or Dietrich Wise, are
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: they playing at a new level? Not that not that
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: the starters played a couple of year is against Carolina
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: and we're very good against p J. Walker. The starter
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: has played a couple of series against the Raiders and
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: were very bad against Jared'stidham. Like, I think all the
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: criticism has been on offense and no one's talked about
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: the defense because the offense has been so alarming. I
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: don't think the defense has been great. They had some
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: good short yardage plays, your boy. You mentioned earlier Jeremiah
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: Farms back to back plays on third and fourth and
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: like an inch big play, you know. But I'm gonna
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: guess that Jeremiah Farms is gonna be one of these
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: names that we're gonna see soon, right. I don't think
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: the defense has been great. It's just but the thing
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: is good or bad, I don't know what I'm looking
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: at yet. I don't know what I'm looking at yet.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: I have a great point, you know, right, and when
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: you get to the regular season, the opposing offenses aren't
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: gonna know what they're looking at because they're gonna start
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: throwing all these weird packages out at them and stuff.
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: So right, I mean, I think that's an element of it.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: I mean, I I you know, I don't disagree with Paul.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: I mean, they were, you know, dominating the Patriots offense
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: a lot of of this preseason two. But I again,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: I think that Judean, barm Jennings, if those guys can
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: be disruptive and win one on one matchups and even
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: you know J two, then I think they have something.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: But as you're seeing with the secondary, like they don't
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: have a lot of pieces in the back end. They
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: don't have a lot of proven pieces. So it's got
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: to come down they don't if they don't show significant
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: improvement against the run, which I think the emailer is right.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: I think they have played better against the run. But
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: if that doesn't carry over, they're in a lot of
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: trouble because that secondary is going to have a really
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: hard time. Well, you surprise when Berman asked the question,
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: Bill answered it, and the question was what unit do
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: you feel most well? Well, he said what units you
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: feel most safeties? Yeah, he also led them. He also
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: led the witness but to you a point, Freddie, that's
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: a question that I'm telling you unequivocally he would not
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: have answered if anybody else asked it. One of his
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: boys needed to ask that. If if Mike Rees asked
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: that question. You know, we'll see when we get to
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: the REGA. Season's harder to know you have depth right now,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: but you don't really have to have you get season. Yea.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: But Chris Berman came in and he had a bow
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: with the altar, you know, or a guy who's boomer
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: never mind Miami and the donuts, says Pete and Ottawa.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: Um I just needed to chime in and give my
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: two cents on the donut conversation. I totally disagree with
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: the gentleman from Nova Scotia about Duncan donuts. He stated
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: that Tim Hortons was better. Duncan is one hundred times
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: better than crappy Tim Hortons. I do have to say
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: a hot donut from chrispy Kreme is the best donut.
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: Yeah we almost, we almost hit that up in Vegas.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: But you gotta get them hot right oh yeah, coming
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: right out. Then they melt in your mouth. That was
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: another thing in Vegas. I'm like, it's too hot for donuts.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: I was like, oh, it'd be nice if I just
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: picked up some donuts and I walk in with everybody.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: I thought the hotel room was freezing. M go eat
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: him there? Yeah, with friends, Peter says on the party,
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: I'm currently in Fort Lauderdale. I was here. You had
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: no friends there, He says, I'm currently in Lauderdale, And
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: now finally understand when people talk about the heat down
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: here at this time of year. I've been doing CrossFit
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: uh whilst down here, and the heat mixed with the
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: humidity is terrible. I could not imagine what it would
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: be like to play a football game. It will be
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: tough for the Patriots to pull out a win. Why
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: are you doing crossfitt this heat? That seems like that's
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: the worst possible thing to do. That's why I haven't
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: been doing my CrossFit. Later, it's just the weather. I mean,
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: you got a golf and drink too, So tomorrow golf tomorrow? Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: we're playing Ready Meadows, Ready Meadows. Yes, where's that Lindfield's
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: how's the shoulder doing? All? Right? Shoulder? We're going on
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: five days without any of that numbing prolotherapy. Ted Johnson, No,
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: I just kind of hoped it went away. So far,
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: it looks like that's working. Getting in there thaa gun
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: hasn't gotten in there in a while. Ben writes in
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: from Dublin. Uh, it looks like Matt will be calling
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: plays in the regular season. This requires a lot of
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: brain power, as you've got to think too ups ahead
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: and read the opposing defense. Since Matt's brain is focused
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: on this is there's someone else closely watching the old
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: line in the game to give them quick feedback on
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: how to improve. I don't think it's possible to do both,
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: even if you're a rocket scientist. Yes, David Andrews. Hell, hell,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: what about Billy Yachts. Yeah, I think Billy Yat taste
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: Billy Yates. I think we'll have to do a lot
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: more than just be the assistant offensive line coach. Yeah,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: I think. I think I said it when I called in.
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: But when I was on the sideline of the Raiders
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: listening to carn Bricillo talked to his guys, that was
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: enlightening of just how much there is for an offensive
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: line coach to feed to their guys and do. It
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: just goes back to the point of Matty p Is
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: he in position to succeed. I think it's up again.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: It's it's gonna be tough for him this year to
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: manage all of this different stuff, especially as it's going
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: right now. Ben in Hutter or Shutters in Manchester. Thanks
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: again for all the offseason content you brought us. I've
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: had the thought that Bill the coach is the reason
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: I have hoped this team can gain plan to win
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: ten games and still be relevant in December. But it's
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: Bill the GM that gives me concerns. The poorly assembled
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: coach and player rosters could go four and thirteen. Am
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: I putting too much faith in him with the former
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: and too much blame on him with the latter. Maybe
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: we'll find out. This is I mean, every year it
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: seems like it's a hard new test of this whole. Yeah,
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: I mean, like, if you don't like the roster, like,
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: that's your like, if your view is you don't like,
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: you don't think there's enough talent, then I don't think
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: you're putting too much on Bill. It's Bill's roster. He's
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: the one that's responsible for acquiring players and deciding who
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: stays and who goes. Right, Yeah, I mean I don't
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: think the roster is as as bad as shape as
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: you know, how did you put it earlier? That's like
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: the most negative way to frame everything. Yeah, yeah, I
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: don't think the roster is like Chicago right now, well
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: like Jacksonville last year. That's the way it's kind of been,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Yeah, Like, I don't think
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: it's a three or four win roster. I think that
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: they have enough pieces that if everything you've come to
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: believe about this coaching staff and their ability to get
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: guys to play there, that there is a playoff team
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: in there if they all played together and they you know,
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: didn't make the stupid mistakes and they peaked at the end,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: Like I can see it, but right now it's hard
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: to see because we just haven't seen it consistently for
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: the first month of the season of preseason, just throwing
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: it out, dude, do you need superstars to win it
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: all or you know, to go deep in the NFL
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: on your team? Like I'm not saying loaded, but do
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: you need on both sides of ball one or two?
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: I think generally yes, Yeah, yeah, I think you do.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: I mean, you know, it's I just don't I think
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: that the Leak's too good, especially after watching Tavante Adams
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: and what a difference he makes and just in another
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: world of athleticism that he is. You know, as much
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: as you want to say, every once in a while,
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: there's going to be a scrappy team, underdogs that nobody's
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: really that talented, and they all just come together and
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: they beat the Russia, you know, in nineteen eighty. Like
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: you know, like as much as you want that comes
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: back to hockey, as you always want that to be
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: true in sports of like, well, you know, but it's
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: this is the the NFL, and I think without you know,
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: we just look at the Patriots. I mean, yeah, you
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: had Brady, but you also always had like a Gronk
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: or an Edelman or a high Tower or just at
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: the very even if they aren't high level superstar players,
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: they're players that made big plays in big moments and
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: we're able to step up into that. But I you know,
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: I just I think that's where it started. I just
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: always felt, yeah, Brady, Gronk and Edelman, who knows, you're
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: gonna probably go to the AFC Championship. But if it's
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: just Brady, But you know, like when you look at it,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: you know, and of course Brady Moss, Gronk, you know,
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: those guys, they're superstars. But you know guys that early
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: remember we remember who made the plays, Rabel and Bruski,
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: they weren't superstars. But this is what my feeling is. Yeah,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: if you don't have a quarterback, you better have, yeah,
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: a lot of superstars. Yeah, if you have a superstar quarterback,
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: then you don't need as many of them. But I
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: don't see how you can get by without a great
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: quarterback nor like star edge rusher, like wide receiver, corner,
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: someone that stands out and makes plays above all else. Right,
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: you have to have something, and it set the tone
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: for kind of everyone else. Yeah, raises the bod. Yeah, well,
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: who are like some of the least talented Super Bowl
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: champs of the last you know, a few, I mean,
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: like just to throw it out there because I'm familiar
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: with it, like the Giants. Like even if those Giants
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: teams didn't have like a star quarterback, like the way
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan played in those stars Michael,
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: you know, but you know, at the end of the
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: season they had a good line but defense, but they
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: had players that were playing like superstars in that game,
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: even if you know, maybe they weren't. And even that,
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I would also say, like probably that's probably a good
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: pick for some of the lesser talented Super Bowl winners.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: And they were a little lucky. Let's face it, no
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: one thought they were going to the super Bowl before
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: the playoffs started. Now, in the playof up they were great.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: They played great in the playoff games, and they deserve
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: to win the super Bowl. But I don't think anybody
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: would have said they're going to go to Green Bay
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: and beat green Bay that year. Should Tom eventually, should
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: Tom Coughlin go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Um?
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: I think so yeah, because I think you have to
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: look at what he did in Jackson. I was just
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: gonna say one or first or second year they got
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: to the and he built a I mean he was
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: and he was the complete architect of that organization right
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: from the ground up. Yeah, and not only like yeah, okay,
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: they made a little bit of a flukey run to
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: the AFC Championship, but then they were like fourteen to
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: two and they couldn't quite get there. And then you
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: know what he did with the Giants, And then didn't
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: he go back to Jacksonville, right, yeah, and get them
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: to the AFC Championship, and again they probably should have
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: won here, right, you know, they blew a ten point leader.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: I think he's probably one of the most underrated coaches
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: in the last thirty years. I saw a little bit
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: of a funny thing with him in Eli and Eli
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: was like breaking down Tom Coughlin's player tape and like
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: they were like to a film sec coach, I've seen
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: you break down a bunch of my film and then
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: you know it's like this old, like whatever it is,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: nineteen fifties footage of like Tom Coughlin playing, and Eli's
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: kind of, you know, busting his chops a little bit.
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: It was kind of it was kind of funny. Speaking
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: of the Hall of Fame, Robert Kraft didn't get in.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Don cory All did, which at a travesty. Did you
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: just to Travis? He talked to Aaron about this. No,
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: but don't just a Travis. You know that morning, I
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: think it was the first morning we're in Vegas when
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: I guess who didn't get in. I'm there, I'm in
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: like my wake up grace period. I don't really want
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: to talk to anymo. Well, he's got a case. Dan
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: Reeves over Correll every day, you know, seven days a week,
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: and twice on Sunday. Yeah, oh, Aaron, Aaron came in
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: home over Don Corriel. He's got a five, a sub
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: five hundred record, never won a playoff game. Do not
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: have a sub five Yes he does. No, he doesn't.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: Never won a playoff game. He never won a playoff game.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: He does not have a sub five hundred record, and
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: he is basically the architect of the modern passion. Oh really, yeah,
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: well then webw Bank should be in because Joe Namath
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: was for four hundred yards before anybody was four four
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: thousand yards. Yeah, I'm talking about in a game. I
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: gotta I gotta see what the record was that. But
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: that was what that was what I got hit with, Aaron.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: I mean he felt the same way you did it.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: Like seven in the morning. I'm just sitting there enjoyed
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: coming Dan Reeves to Correl. Dan Reeves gets in. He
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: was hot, he was just ruined. He was hot. And
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: then the funny part was he gave it to me
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: in the morning in the Hall of Fame. Is he
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: Then in the afternoon he found me again and gave
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: me the same exactly. I'll say the same thing about
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: he shouldn't be strike that he shouldn't be in. Neither
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: should Don Corriel. Dad is uh. I mean, I don't
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: know what his record was. I do know his offense was.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: You know, it was pretty pretty famous, like he took
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: with Sid Gilman. Sid Gilman is largely considered the architect
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: of like the passing game. What Don Corriel did in
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: San Diego was something that was like stolen and emulated
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: for thirty years. Like I don't I don't know who
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: Hall of Famerson who is and I'm not talking about
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: Hall of Fame, but like to just sit there and
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: say that Dan Reeves, who coached a couple of good,
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: not great teams, is a better you know, this guy innovated.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: This guy changed the game, you know, Like to me,
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: that's my opinion, only much more impressed Aaron. I don't
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: agree with him. So just for that, in case he's listening,
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: you give it to me twice though. Oka in Tampa,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: let's just say the team goes four and thirteen, five
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: and twelve. By the way, Corriel's record is one five
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: and one eleven. I'm sorry, one eleven and eighty three. So,
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: but twenty games, thirty games over five hundred. Did he
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: ever win a playoff game? Playoffs? Playoffs? He is nine
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: and three in the playoffs. Oh wait, nope, sorry, three
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: and six, three and six in the playoffs. I keep
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: looking at the wrong I keep looking at the total games.
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: They need to redo the website. I think it throws
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: me off. What the Football Reference, Yeah, the grids and
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: all the numbers. Yeah, but the nerds love that. They
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: love that. Oh table I needed to be by row
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: table just looks smart. It's an Excel sprunchie. Uh yeah,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: he's thirty. I mean he's twenty eight games over five hundred.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: That's not a terrible record. Yeah, I mean it's not
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: like a great record. I'm not gonna be one hundred
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: and eleven wins great record, but winslow. Yeah, this is
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: and he completely like he was the guy who said
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: we're gonna put three receivers on the field in one
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: running back. No one did that. Do you know what?
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: Like these are Like it's innovative what he did that,
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying. Like in terms of contributions to
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: the game, Yeah, like, are you gonna put Don Corriell
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: among like the greatest twenty coaches ever. Probably not, I wouldn't, Yeah,
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: but I think he changed the game. So do what
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: they did for Bill, like when he had that game
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: plan again in the supert put his offense in the
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: you know, okay, you know? All right, yeah, big good
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: question for Bill, though. I'm sure he's got some insight
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: about that offense. Bill talk talks about the two tight
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: ends they did in Detroit that never really, no one
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: ever really did. Yeah, okay, in Tampa. Let's just say
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: the team goes four thirteen or five and twelve and
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Mac looks lost the whole season, and the team gets
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: a top seven to ten pick. You have the opportunity
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: to get the second or third best quarterback in the draft.
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: Do you draft a quarterback or do you go tackle
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: or cornerback? I personally would go with a new quarterback,
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: given that the rookie quarterback has either a big arm
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: or who was a real dual threat quarterback. But that's
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: just me. What are your thoughts? So he's really bad,
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: he had a bad season, Like, he's just bad. He
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: looks bad lot, and you're not blamed it on the coaches.
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: I guess. Yeah, it'd be hard I'd really need to
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: see who the player is, who the other quarterback is,
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: um and what you're what you would be picking him
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: over because at this point, if there's a stud left
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: tackle available like there, I mean, I know Paula probably
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: wouldn't go top five, that would that would probably oh
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: to tackle there, Like if you had a tackle that
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: was like Rashawn Slater, protect him, you know, someone like that,
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: Like I don't think that would be a terrible move.
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: But not a guard, Like, not a guard that I
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: can get the same caliber player four rounds later. Yeah,
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: like tackle if you if you're completely sure, you have
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: to be sure. Like the kid from Carolina looks terrible,
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: yeah right, like he was like the seventh pick of
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: the draft. Yeah, that's like I need him to be
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: like a stud left tackle. She won in straight sets.
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I believe last night good Fred has the side coversations
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: with me, thinking that I'll know all of the different
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: tennis players right there. I just want Cocoa golf, I know,
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: But I don't. Like he was talking about some woman
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: from Canada that I never heard of. She was playing
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: last night. I don't know who that is, Fernandez. Yeah,
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: I don't know who there no long since retire Cody
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: in Indiana. I have something between an intake development and
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: a conspiracy theory to float by you guys. We love this,
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: We love you know this. If you recall in the
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: first game, Patricia relayed the plays while Hoyer was in
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: the game. Then when Zappy went in, Joe Judge was
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: relaying the plays. Is there any possibility that Brian Hoyer
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: was actually calling the plays when Zappy was in? And
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: that's why Bill never admits that Matt is calling the
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: plays because he isn't. Next press conference, I suggest asking
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: Bill if the Hoister is the real mastermind, Deuce, get
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: on it. I don't know about calling the plays, but
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: it's pretty common passed to have backup quarterbacks signaling the plays, right, Like,
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: maybe not entirely. I always think those are dummy signals.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: But I don't know for sure, but I can tell
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: you that Brian Hoyer has no interest whatsoever in coaching.
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: According to a source, Well, we'll take your word for that.
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: We're going to continue to bounce pound that narrative. You
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: should be a coach. Um. Let's see Matt Morrell right,
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: since he wants to know what was the best sign
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: from a homeless person. You saw him the strip. Mine
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: was Ninja's kidnaped. My wife need money for karate lessons.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I didn't notice any Uh, I didn't. It
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: was just the scantily clad people. I would say it
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: with you guys. It was too hot for homeless. It
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: was there was there was for the homeless. There were
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: like two people just lying in front of the bellaggio
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: on the street like kind of in a cuddle, like
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: just lying like it was they were in their bed
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: at their house, like just cuddling. That was. I didn't
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: see any signs though. Oh I didn't look hard enough.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: Places wild Oh it is. It's just wild. Um from
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: Tampa Bay. Any updates on Jacobe Myers and what are
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: your thoughts on Tyler Johnson if Myers can't go. I
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: always like Tyler Johnson isn't Myers Myers. He was out there,
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: but he had a sleeve on his on his leg.
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: Didn't really notice anything, but I think it's something to
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: definitely look at. He's been he's been their most consistent receiver.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Let's see Aaron in North Carolina, long time listener, first
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: time emailer. He's been listening to twenty thirteen as Week
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: one early creeps closer. I feel I can speak for
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: a majority of fans at the moment, I have a
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: sense of uncertainty amongst all acts best aspects of the team.
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: Is this really our offense? Can we force a punt?
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: What are we? Everyone relax? He says, of course, we
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: would love the bliss of knowing we will dominate the league,
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: or at least force punts and move the ball at will.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: This team is just a different team from those of
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: years past. I am by no means saying that Belichick
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: is something up as sleeve. He's the master of deception.
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: All of us fans have heard the camp reports and
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: seeing the preseason struggles. I think this team is struggling
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: with the pressures of past success and is searching outside
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: the shadows. I'm hoping to see growth in all areas
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: with the goal of building a platform for years to come.
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: It might not be pretty, but this league isn't easy.
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: I can't help, but trust Bill and Robert, They've earned it. Okay,
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: like something? I mean, I like the you know, I
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: like the idea of building a platform. I mean, I
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: think that sounds about right. You know, if you are
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: really resetting the offense this year, then just goes back
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: to at the end of the season, Let's see it
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: start to click. Let's see these things that they're trying
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: to do, simplify, make things easier, play faster. Let's see
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: those things come to fruition. And if they do, I
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: think you'll have a season where, all right, they're starting
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: to build back up again. But you know, if it
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: fades down the stretch again, if it doesn't come together,
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: they're in a tough spot. What was your line, your
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: phraseology about the overly negative way to frame everything, look
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: the most negative way and every that's the most positive
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: way to everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah, uh d writes in
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: Dylan with how some fans are kind of down and
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: out on the season. How do you see the Patriots
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: panning out? As for Week one? What do the Patriots
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: need to do to give them a win or to
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: hold a hopeful late lead in Miami? With players to
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: make play? Which players will make the plays? What are
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: you gonna need? I mean, it's not with the obvious.
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: Mac Jones has got to play well. Yeah yeah, And
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: like Deuce has been saying over and over, no mistakes.
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: I mean even last year it was mistakes. Early that
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: hurt them, and then they kind of, you know, they
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: played lesser teams, but they stopped making those dumb penalties
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: turning the ball over and they started winning. Yeah, I
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: think that's you know, I don't want to oversimplify it,
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: because I think that they do have an uphill climb
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: in terms of, you know, stringing together consistent drives and
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: having played because he's just haven't done it in the
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: in the preseason, Like, I don't know if that's something
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: you just pick up and you get to the regular
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: season where you have consistent execution. I expect the execution
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: to still be spotty, but I think they'll have a
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: chance if they just don't make the super dumb turnovers
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: and you know, blown assignments and you know, getting the
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: quarterback lit up and tackle for loss, like, you know,
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: just play a solid game and see where it is
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. I think you'll need to force
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: turnovers too. I think I don't think the rest of
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: it is enough. I think they have to force turnovers.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: That's what they I think they had thirty one force
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: turnovers last year or something. I mean that that was
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: a high number, and I think they ain't gonna need
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: to do some of that again, or your lack of
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: punts will be a problem. Hambright, I barely knew you
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: had a promising start. I thought he was kind of down.
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: You know. One more personal I just want to mention
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: before you wrap up, is like, I'm just gonna go
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: on record saying I don't get why everyone's all up
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: about Cody Russy. I haven't really seen anything from him
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: all summer, and for some reason, people I've seen what
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: silo are you getting this? I've seen it a few
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: different places of Oh, he's starting to come on a
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: little bit, and I'm like, I, I don't know. I
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: don't know, so maybe he'll make the team. But that's
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: one where I haven't seen it all summer. I don't
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: know what what people are talking about without him. No, Yeah,
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: I thought hand Bright was getting an opportunity. I thought
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: his opportunity sort of waned as camp continued, which told
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: me that they thought he was probably just average. Yeah
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: he didn't. That was I finally had one that wasn't
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: on my roster because I have three guys already out.
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: It's one of my worst roster projections ever. Jake in
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: Chicago coming in for the game, staying in Boston. This
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: is October ninth. He says, how do we get to
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: the game? Best way? Anything to check out in Boston
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: and Foxborough? First time coming in town. Well, there is
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: a train from Boston. I think it leads from South Station. Yeah,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: you'll be on a little bit of a schedule though,
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: having to you know, get in and get out. Maybe
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: not quite as much time down here as you might like,
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: but I think it's if you're renting a car, it's
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: worth it driving. It's worth coming down early and checking
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: out the hall and all that kind of stuffs. Brady
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: looks skinny, Yeah, doesn't he Yep, just take one south
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: and uh, it's only one way in and one way out,
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: but there's plenty of parking. It's fifty bucks, so be
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: prepared for that. But you know, it's not like they're
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: going to run out of spots when you get here,
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: so you can do that. Or you know, if you
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: just want to just drink all day, then take the train. Yeah,
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: take the train. I think um uber is a pain,
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: like you don't get you get dropped off like a
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: long way away from the state too. I wouldn't. They're
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: just so like sparse in the city. Now, yeah, it's
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: like there's not an uber ride that's less than like
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: forty dollars. Well that that also reminds me another Las
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: Vegas thing, Like I guess there is an uber shortage
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: in Boston, not in Las Vegas. Like everything's a minute
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: away out there. I even get picked up in a Tesla. Yeah,
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: I mean, why is anyone even driving? I was just
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: on autopilot. I was gonna ask him, but that didn't want.
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: I didn't want to suggest because they might throw it
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: in check it. I was in Buffalo once and every
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: Uber I took was an F two fifty, Like what really? Yeah,
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: get a client giant truck with a step that like
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: probably runs on diesel. I was like, how is this efficient? Random? Right?
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: You really have to pay get paid a lot to
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: make up just for the gas you're spending two people
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: in the corner. It was the Hockey National Championship a
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: couple of years ago, so I'm maybe he just decided
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: to uber that night that Weekend's good night? All right,
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: Well listen, um, that'll be it for this show, but
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: we will be back on Thursday. Next week is when
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: we start our in season schedule. What's that Oh geezus,
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: it's bridge Stone. I have to read this and there's
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: a there's a here's a post it on it says

- 1:55:51Speaker 1: forgot it says early in show right in front of me. Anyway,
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: Uh yeah tomorrow. Great is a lot of news at

- 1:56:27Speaker 1: I did the first round of Uh I got a flat. Yeah,
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: I had to get new ones. But I'll take some
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: new bridge Stones. Yeah. Everybody needs tires like offensive Lineman.
