- 0:00Speaker 1: Be in this league podcast network. There's this Dynasty Sports Life,
- 0:06Speaker 1: a podcast about playing fantasy baseball, basketball, football, and haunting
- 0:11Speaker 1: three hundred and sixty five days a year. Here's your host,
- 0:16Speaker 1: Jesse Sylvia. Oh, welcome to the Dynasty Sports Life. Jesse
- 0:21Speaker 1: Severe here, ready to talk to you about the wonderful
- 0:23Speaker 1: world of dynasty fantasy sports. When am I not is
- 0:28Speaker 1: what I would ask you. It is the season. It
- 0:31Speaker 1: is always the season. But you know what season it is.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It's NFL preseason. People are all up in the NFL preseason.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I bet if you play a lot of fantasy sports,
- 0:39Speaker 1: a whole lot of your buddies are out there thinking
- 0:42Speaker 1: about nothing but football. But you know what we can
- 0:45Speaker 1: do better than that. We have for sports to think about.
- 0:49Speaker 1: That means baseball is in the playoffs. Don't forget about those,
- 0:52Speaker 1: or soon to the playoffs, or just in the back
- 0:55Speaker 1: third in your roto leagues if that's how you roll.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And yeah, it's been exciting times over there. The final
- 1:02Speaker 1: stretch is coming for baseball and basketball and hockey. It
- 1:06Speaker 1: is time for rookie drafts. That's what time I see
- 1:08Speaker 1: it as. And it's only six weeks out from the
- 1:11Speaker 1: beginning of the NHL season. Can you believe that they're
- 1:13Speaker 1: starting in September this year because they and the NBA
- 1:17Speaker 1: used to both have eighty two games. Now NHL has
- 1:19Speaker 1: gone to eighty four, which is probably a mistake, but
- 1:24Speaker 1: a day. If they think it's going to make the money,
- 1:26Speaker 1: do what you gotta do. You're still wearing me out.
- 1:28Speaker 1: People in any event, Today is going to be all
- 1:32Speaker 1: about the NBA because we have to catch up with
- 1:35Speaker 1: what the heck happened. I know some of you are
- 1:37Speaker 1: just coming out of NBA hibernation and you probably missed
- 1:40Speaker 1: what some of the changes were. I know that some
- 1:43Speaker 1: of the trades and so forth. Marcus and I broke
- 1:45Speaker 1: down a few weeks ago. We made the Western Conference
- 1:48Speaker 1: happen in the NBA, all the team changes, and this
- 1:52Speaker 1: week we're going to do the Eastern Conference. Will cost
- 1:55Speaker 1: us once again from rasball after this. We did West
- 2:04Speaker 1: Coast last week, this week East Coast. It's going to
- 2:07Speaker 1: take a while to make it all the way to
- 2:08Speaker 1: cost us out there in Greece. There's several more coasts
- 2:11Speaker 1: between us and him, but that's all right. We're ready
- 2:13Speaker 1: to talk to costas. How you doing today, buddy.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I'm good to this. Thank you, thanks for having me again.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And we're fired up from the West. Let's get todays now.
- 2:22Speaker 1: That's right, that's right, and the East is not quite
- 2:25Speaker 1: as they're actually better out there than they have been.
- 2:28Speaker 1: They just produced the NBA champions and things are kind
- 2:31Speaker 1: of looking up for the East. It feels like for
- 2:33Speaker 1: some depth perspectives, there's been a lot of changes going
- 2:36Speaker 1: on over there. So we'll go through, just like we
- 2:39Speaker 1: did last week. If anybody didn't listen last week, what
- 2:41Speaker 1: we're doing here is talking about the major additions and
- 2:44Speaker 1: subtractions to the Eastern Conference teams one by one. How
- 2:48Speaker 1: does that affect the rotations, who's going to get the production,
- 2:51Speaker 1: the fantasy points, whatever, And of course we'll go through
- 2:54Speaker 1: all of these teams, starting with the Boston Celtics. Anybody
- 2:58Speaker 1: ever heard of them? They very obviously and very famously
- 3:02Speaker 1: moved out Jalen Brown and for those of you who remember,
- 3:05Speaker 1: Nicola Bussovich was a deadline a deadline addition of the
- 3:11Speaker 1: Celtics that didn't really turn out to be much and
- 3:13Speaker 1: he left as well, and they added Paul George in
- 3:17Speaker 1: that trade. They brought in Mitchell Robinson to fill the
- 3:21Speaker 1: gaping hole at center that they'd had. That was their
- 3:23Speaker 1: big addition. Of course, Mitchell Robbinson got played off the
- 3:25Speaker 1: court in the NBA Finals because he kept bounding he
- 3:28Speaker 1: could make a free throw. And then Mike Conley, whatever
- 3:31Speaker 1: Mike Conley is still doing, he's going to come in.
- 3:33Speaker 1: He's still maybe kind of a fringe rotation guy. What
- 3:36Speaker 1: do you think here causes? What are the big changes
- 3:39Speaker 1: that happened with the Celtics in your mind? For impact?
- 3:43Speaker 3: Obviously, the biggest change is the swap of let's say
- 3:47Speaker 3: Jalen Brown and Paul George in the rotation. We cannot
- 3:51Speaker 3: expect Peg to take the offensive load that Jalen Brown had,
- 3:56Speaker 3: so I guess there are a lot of more opportunities
- 3:59Speaker 3: to go aren't in for other players in the Boston rotation.
- 4:02Speaker 3: But in terms of all George, I think health is
- 4:05Speaker 3: going to be key for him. If we assume that
- 4:07Speaker 3: he is healthy, maybe we can see some sneaky value
- 4:10Speaker 3: from him because he has always been a good fantasy contributor,
- 4:15Speaker 3: and given some more responsibilities in the Boston theme team,
- 4:20Speaker 3: I think we can have a productive season from him.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And also there's the question at the five spot.
- 4:26Speaker 3: As you correctly said, they did bring bar Mitter Robins,
- 4:29Speaker 3: but they also resigned the Mayas Ketta for a hefty price,
- 4:34Speaker 3: and we're very well deserved for the Mayas Ketta.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Who would have thought that a pople player would be
- 4:39Speaker 2: a thing, but strangers didn't have happened.
- 4:42Speaker 3: But I think that they will continue to start Getta.
- 4:45Speaker 3: They're just going to have a backup that fits their
- 4:47Speaker 3: style more because Wosceovitch was not obviously not the answer there.
- 4:51Speaker 3: They need something the more defensive presence. Now they have
- 4:54Speaker 3: two centers that play similarly to interchange with Mitch Robinson
- 4:58Speaker 3: and maas Keta. But I still think they're going to
- 5:01Speaker 3: start Kitta, and Mike Conley will continue to I think
- 5:06Speaker 3: a clap with grace from the bench.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I don't think he's going to get meaningful minutes at
- 5:11Speaker 2: fifty years of eights, but it's a nice presence to
- 5:15Speaker 2: have in the looker for sure.
- 5:17Speaker 1: That's right, that's right. Yeah, Mike Conley will be drawing
- 5:20Speaker 1: his AARP card. That's in American terms. But yeah, he's
- 5:24Speaker 1: a good guy to have around. Actually the Wolves might
- 5:26Speaker 1: miss him a little bit, I don't know, but yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 1: he is probably a little bit buried in the rotation
- 5:31Speaker 1: here and moving on next, we have the least relevant
- 5:35Speaker 1: team in the Eastern Conference, the Brooklyn Nets, because they
- 5:38Speaker 1: are doing smart things and they are trying to make
- 5:42Speaker 1: the full on rebuild and they're this far, so they
- 5:45Speaker 1: are bringing in a couple of guys, a couple guys
- 5:48Speaker 1: with some interest. They wound up with Julius Randall in
- 5:51Speaker 1: the great Big Minnesota Timberwolves trade that shuffled the whole
- 5:54Speaker 1: bunch of guys around and ended up with of course
- 5:57Speaker 1: famously LaMelo making it to Minnesota. Julius Randall had to
- 6:01Speaker 1: move out. Then they got Mo Wagner just despite the
- 6:05Speaker 1: magic by taking one of the Wigners. Maybe they didn't
- 6:07Speaker 1: know which one they were ginning. And then they signed
- 6:10Speaker 1: Kean Ellis who's he's from Alabama, I believe, and in
- 6:14Speaker 1: the last couple of years he's gonna become a guy
- 6:16Speaker 1: who's made a little bit of a reputation by playing
- 6:18Speaker 1: some defense as a card. And then they have moved
- 6:22Speaker 1: out Nick Claxon, that was what they lost in that
- 6:24Speaker 1: Julius Randall deal. And Zire Williams, who has been a
- 6:29Speaker 1: fringe he's been trying he's gone to the La Lakers.
- 6:32Speaker 1: The Nets have a couple of guys who've got NBA
- 6:35Speaker 1: rotation experience coming in. They lost Claxton who has been
- 6:39Speaker 1: that class. But they're just full up to the brim
- 6:42Speaker 1: with rookies and second year guys from their own roster
- 6:45Speaker 1: who are trying to get minutes. Are any of these
- 6:47Speaker 1: guys because Randall just gonna soak up a whole bunch
- 6:50Speaker 1: of usage here just because he is former All Star
- 6:53Speaker 1: of that type of thing, or what do you think
- 6:54Speaker 1: is gonna happen with this Nets additions and subtractions.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it's obviously Runner will get to it as much
- 7:02Speaker 3: as he wants with this kind of roster that's lacking
- 7:05Speaker 3: offensive talent.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Now, the interesting thing with Brooking is I think they do.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Not control their first round pick this season, so there
- 7:14Speaker 3: is no real reason for them to attract tank. Obviously,
- 7:18Speaker 3: they don't have a good enough roster to be super competitive,
- 7:21Speaker 3: but there is no realis to tang and this makes
- 7:25Speaker 3: some of the veterans in the roster very interesting for
- 7:27Speaker 3: the fantasy next season because maybe we don't see so
- 7:31Speaker 3: many random rest days, or they have no real incentive
- 7:34Speaker 3: to lose and if they started the season on a
- 7:37Speaker 3: hot streak. Maybe they try to appeal to their fan
- 7:40Speaker 3: base a bit and go for a play in run
- 7:43Speaker 3: or as much of the high seed as they can,
- 7:46Speaker 3: so both Michael Porter jun And Julis Randal might get
- 7:51Speaker 3: a bump in fantasy projections next season because someone has
- 7:55Speaker 3: to score in this roster. They also resigned their own
- 7:59Speaker 3: shark to play the five spot all Bite with the
- 8:02Speaker 3: contract that does not signify so much confidence because it's
- 8:06Speaker 3: a two year deal. If you have if you believe
- 8:09Speaker 3: that this is the long term solution at the five spot,
- 8:12Speaker 3: I guess you resigned the guy for much longer, but
- 8:15Speaker 3: he will be interesting to see how he fares with
- 8:18Speaker 3: the starting position for a whole season. And finally, there are,
- 8:22Speaker 3: as you said, a lot of young guys, especially at
- 8:25Speaker 3: the one and the two. I think there are five
- 8:27Speaker 3: players for two positions of the rookie Michael Brown Junior
- 8:31Speaker 3: and the three rookies from last season, Ben saraf Roland
- 8:34Speaker 3: Trauer and Demin, and you add to those Kean Ellis
- 8:39Speaker 3: as you said, and this is a position battle to watch.
- 8:41Speaker 3: We will see in the precision how it goes, because
- 8:44Speaker 3: whoever gets minutes from those guys and the usage can
- 8:49Speaker 3: emerge as a fantasy winner here. I think the first
- 8:53Speaker 3: two names that will get the opportunities Edgar Demin and
- 8:57Speaker 3: Michael Brown Junior. But keep an eye on Nolan Trouter
- 9:01Speaker 3: as well, because he sawed less season that he can
- 9:03Speaker 3: handle the offense. So we should wait and see how
- 9:08Speaker 3: this positional battle plays out.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see the psychology of teams who
- 9:17Speaker 1: do not have their own draft pick in the first round.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I think the Bucks are in the same boat. My
- 9:22Speaker 1: impression is they can kind of go one to two ways.
- 9:25Speaker 1: One of them is they could say, screw it, let's
- 9:28Speaker 1: go for the play in and if they catch lighting
- 9:31Speaker 1: in the bottle they do it. In the old days,
- 9:33Speaker 1: it's like if you don't, then you're going to tank,
- 9:37Speaker 1: and tanking means getting to the bottom and getting the
- 9:40Speaker 1: more lottery balls. Now the bottom three teams don't get
- 9:43Speaker 1: the same number lottery balls. I almost kind of feel
- 9:46Speaker 1: like if the Nets aren't doing well, they do just tank.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Just to some extent, they play their younger guys because
- 9:52Speaker 1: they don't care if they end up in the bottom three,
- 9:55Speaker 1: Unlike some of the team that's got their own pick.
- 9:57Speaker 1: They they don't carry the way, and the only problem
- 10:00Speaker 1: is then in the second round their pick will be
- 10:02Speaker 1: later because of the way that they are doing this
- 10:05Speaker 1: reversal for the second round. For the lottery teams, I
- 10:08Speaker 1: guess they kind of if they ended up with the
- 10:12Speaker 1: lowest and then it flipped in the second round, then
- 10:14Speaker 1: they're picking maybe fourteenth or whatever, and that would be lousy.
- 10:17Speaker 1: But I don't know, it'll be interesting. But guards mature
- 10:21Speaker 1: those first couple of years, things change a lot for them.
- 10:24Speaker 1: The ones they get better, but when rookie point guard
- 10:28Speaker 1: egor demon, you could see them take a big leap,
- 10:30Speaker 1: just because that's what happens. When guards get the game
- 10:33Speaker 1: slows down a little bit around them.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I think those two things are very codependent.
- 10:37Speaker 3: How well their guards mature can very much play a
- 10:41Speaker 3: huge part if they start the season on a hot
- 10:43Speaker 3: streak and can be actually competitive.
- 10:47Speaker 2: If not, maybe they do not outright.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Ton with the definition but we had last season. But
- 10:53Speaker 3: maybe they play their younger guys just to give them
- 10:55Speaker 3: minutes and they don't perform so well because that's a
- 10:58Speaker 3: very very young gross as you said before, So let's
- 11:01Speaker 3: wait them to see for sure.
- 11:04Speaker 1: The New York Knicks. We don't have to wait and see.
- 11:06Speaker 1: They're the champions. They shocked the world yesterday and shocked
- 11:10Speaker 1: everybody who just never believed that New York would win.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And smartly they didn't do much. Their owners said we're
- 11:17Speaker 1: not going into the second apron Nos Surrey. Subsequently, not
- 11:21Speaker 1: much really came out of that except that Mitchell Robinson
- 11:23Speaker 1: has gone. Now Ariel Huporti, who had a couple of
- 11:27Speaker 1: good minutes in the finals, he showed up and did
- 11:29Speaker 1: a couple of good things and then he was never
- 11:30Speaker 1: heard from again. But Mitchell Robinson couldn't make a free throw,
- 11:33Speaker 1: he couldn't stay on the floor, so you know, he
- 11:36Speaker 1: was gone. And Jeremy Sohan left because he had already
- 11:40Speaker 1: pulled the deal where I think he would have gotten
- 11:42Speaker 1: the He would have gotten a ring on either side,
- 11:45Speaker 1: either for the Spurs or the Knicks, if I remember,
- 11:47Speaker 1: that's always one of those fun things. And they signed
- 11:49Speaker 1: Andrey Drummond, who for some reason, Andrey Drummond is still
- 11:52Speaker 1: kicking out there after he seemed to lose relevance like
- 11:55Speaker 1: ten years ago, but he still chills up on these teams.
- 11:58Speaker 1: He still gets some good rebounds. And this is a
- 12:01Speaker 1: team that probably is going to need a little more
- 12:03Speaker 1: center rotation because again Robinson hook party gone. What do
- 12:07Speaker 1: you think about any changes to the Knicks? Is there
- 12:10Speaker 1: much to worry about with all this?
- 12:12Speaker 2: Not much to say?
- 12:13Speaker 3: I think in terms of regular season basketball, Andrew Drammond
- 12:17Speaker 3: is a downgrade compared to Mitch Robinson, but they had
- 12:20Speaker 3: to do what they had to do to meet the
- 12:23Speaker 3: cup space criteria to avoid the second up Roun. And
- 12:26Speaker 3: another small notice that they resigned Mohammed Avara on a
- 12:30Speaker 3: multi year contract. That's a name to watch for dynasty
- 12:34Speaker 3: because if you checked his management, he was on the
- 12:38Speaker 3: floor last season. They weren't very much, but he started
- 12:41Speaker 3: games and he does pass the ite test.
- 12:44Speaker 2: He's a modern forward.
- 12:45Speaker 3: He can knock down the three shot, and I think
- 12:47Speaker 3: getting a multi year contract with a lot of years
- 12:50Speaker 3: guaranteed is a very good indication. I think he will
- 12:53Speaker 3: get more minutes this season with the Knicks also getting
- 12:56Speaker 3: older and trying to preserve some of the guys after
- 12:59Speaker 3: such a deep chanelran. So that's a name to watch
- 13:04Speaker 3: for thee per leagues.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. Okay, Philadelphia seventy six ers, they had
- 13:10Speaker 1: themselves a bit of an offseason.
- 13:14Speaker 2: No, no big deal.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Hey, we've already got We've got Tyrese Maxi, We've got
- 13:19Speaker 1: Joel Embiid. What do we really need to do around here?
- 13:21Speaker 1: We're fine. Nope. They they were the beneficiaries of Jalen Brown,
- 13:26Speaker 1: apparently wanting his way out of Boston. And of course,
- 13:31Speaker 1: the kicker with Jaylen Brown is he has a contract
- 13:34Speaker 1: that is a small fortune. Forget about whether he's overrated
- 13:37Speaker 1: or not. Dude has a gigantic contract that's that's already
- 13:41Speaker 1: on the books. And then how dare we not say
- 13:44Speaker 1: Lebron James first? Maybe because you made us wait Lebron
- 13:47Speaker 1: for this whole time. Surprisingly signs of course with the
- 13:50Speaker 1: Sixers if you've been living under a rock. But that's
- 13:52Speaker 1: not all. There were other guys Imforny Simons, who probably
- 13:56Speaker 1: is kind of pissed off now because he's like, I'm great, now,
- 13:59Speaker 1: what am I gonna do? But he is good for
- 14:01Speaker 1: some scoring. He signed away from the Bulls. We mentioned
- 14:04Speaker 1: a party who left the Knicks. Dean Wade left the Cavaliers.
- 14:08Speaker 1: That's good. They need kind of that part of their
- 14:11Speaker 1: roster filled in and maybe some defense and some wing
- 14:15Speaker 1: stuff there and Condavious Caldwell, Pope. You gotta love guys
- 14:19Speaker 1: who were signed after they were bought out by another team.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He's really fallen off the table in the last couple
- 14:24Speaker 1: of years. He missed thirty one games for finger surgery
- 14:28Speaker 1: and in the meantime, who did they lose? So that's
- 14:30Speaker 1: a long story too, but primarily Andrey Drummond. We just
- 14:33Speaker 1: talked about Paul George traded to the Celtics. We just
- 14:36Speaker 1: talked about Quentin Grimes signed off with the Lakers. They're
- 14:39Speaker 1: excited about him. Kelly Oubray left, he was a long
- 14:42Speaker 1: time Sixer there and should we say that Daryl Mory
- 14:46Speaker 1: left too. Daryl Mory got his butt kicked out of
- 14:48Speaker 1: there and they've got a new general manager. So all
- 14:51Speaker 1: this was not processed. Two point zero? What do you
- 14:54Speaker 1: think of the Sixers? It's chaos. It's a advance factory here.
- 14:57Speaker 1: What's going to happen with this.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Team? To predict for fantasy paraposes?
- 15:02Speaker 3: Of course, at least the starting five and if the
- 15:07Speaker 3: Benz unit, if we think about the Ben's unit with
- 15:10Speaker 3: the Rootie guard, the le Baron Filon signons of the
- 15:15Speaker 3: two caseyp at the three, then wait, at the four,
- 15:18Speaker 3: and I don't know, add the bone or rapport at
- 15:20Speaker 3: the five.
- 15:21Speaker 2: You pick whoever you want.
- 15:23Speaker 3: That's ten guys that are a very strong core to
- 15:26Speaker 3: change the championship.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I guess that's why Lebron also decide to sign there.
- 15:31Speaker 2: But in terms of fantasy, I think something has got
- 15:34Speaker 2: to give.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Obviously, you have Lebron, who supposedly will not play the
- 15:39Speaker 3: huge minutes he was playing for the Lakers, but it's
- 15:42Speaker 3: still Lebron, so he will need the ball in his
- 15:45Speaker 3: hands a lot more than all Georges obviously, and we
- 15:49Speaker 3: have also Jayleen Brown there, so it's it's gonna be
- 15:52Speaker 3: tough to see how the users will be split out there,
- 15:56Speaker 3: and also it's going to be interesting to see how
- 15:58Speaker 3: they will try to manage Joel Embid. He did the
- 16:01Speaker 3: turn less season and played a lot of games at
- 16:04Speaker 3: the second half of the season. But if the seventy
- 16:08Speaker 3: six ers start winning and they have real playoff aspirations
- 16:11Speaker 3: or they are easily inside the playoffs, maybe we see
- 16:15Speaker 3: some more maintenance stays that we want, both for Lebron
- 16:19Speaker 3: obviously and for the Bid. So that's another thing to watch.
- 16:23Speaker 3: And finally we have with j Edgecomb was very good,
- 16:27Speaker 3: had a very good first season in the league, but
- 16:30Speaker 3: now seems a bit more buried in the rotation. He
- 16:34Speaker 3: will have to earn his minutes more in the defensive vent,
- 16:38Speaker 3: and I don't think this is going to be good
- 16:40Speaker 3: for his let's value him with a starting in this
- 16:44Speaker 3: starting five with Maxi, Brown, Lebron and Embid, he's clearly
- 16:48Speaker 3: the number five offensive option, which is never good for fundus.
- 16:53Speaker 3: So that's something to watch out, especially in read draft leagues.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Maybe don't expect to see a leap from last season's
- 16:59Speaker 3: number Forge Comb.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that is a bummer because Edgecomb looks like
- 17:04Speaker 1: he's going to be a real good player. He should
- 17:05Speaker 1: start right, but again will be one of the lesser options.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it will be a shock if he
- 17:11Speaker 2: doesn't start, But maybe it will be good if they
- 17:15Speaker 2: try to stagger him with Maxi so that he gets
- 17:17Speaker 2: more minutes with the second unit when he can run
- 17:20Speaker 2: them all more. But it's it's.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Very tough to find the same means for Edgecumb with
- 17:25Speaker 3: neither Brown, nor James nor Marxi on the floor, so
- 17:29Speaker 3: it's going to be tough to see how his value
- 17:32Speaker 3: will will increase.
- 17:33Speaker 2: His second year in the league.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. All right, onto the Toronto Raptors, the
- 17:40Speaker 1: last team in this division, and of course the number
- 17:43Speaker 1: one item on their list is the same thing we
- 17:47Speaker 1: talked about. On the Clippers side, we don't know what
- 17:49Speaker 1: the heck is happening with Leonard that is the kicker,
- 17:53Speaker 1: and we've got Grady Dick brandon Ingram potentially headed back
- 17:58Speaker 1: the other way. Perhaps this is probablyrobably all gonna happen.
- 18:01Speaker 1: We seem to be cruising toward resolution here. It's probably
- 18:05Speaker 1: all gonna happen. So you're gonna have a team with Kawhi,
- 18:07Speaker 1: Scottie Barnes, Emmanuel Quickly, RJ. Barrett, and the newly added
- 18:12Speaker 1: Kyle Anderson. Okay, fine, he's kind of a fringe guy.
- 18:15Speaker 1: He's kicked around with the Spurs and the Timberwolves for
- 18:17Speaker 1: a couple of years. And the Lakers backed up the
- 18:20Speaker 1: truck for Sandro Mamu Kushebili, the Delaware legend who is
- 18:26Speaker 1: now considered one of the rotation players on the LA Lakers. Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 1: we'll see how that goes for them. And Colin Murray
- 18:33Speaker 1: Boyles is of course rounding in the form. He's coming
- 18:36Speaker 1: up there, so it's not a lot of depth, but
- 18:38Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of hope for this team.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I don't know what to say here. Well, I guess
- 18:43Speaker 1: we can talk about the Ingram of it all, but
- 18:45Speaker 1: what do you think is changing on this team?
- 18:48Speaker 3: Is obviously an upgrade over Ingram, and they don't have
- 18:53Speaker 3: much depth, as you said, which I think we come
- 18:56Speaker 3: back to Batam if they tried to do a deep
- 18:59Speaker 3: playoff round.
- 19:00Speaker 2: It's an impressive starting five.
- 19:02Speaker 3: My only concern in terms of from possible perspective, from
- 19:04Speaker 3: a founder's perspective, if there is enough shooting on this
- 19:09Speaker 3: I don't I don't see the usual knockdown three point
- 19:12Speaker 3: shooters apart from the guards. Arzi Barrett has never been
- 19:16Speaker 3: a good three point option. He's very unreliable there. So
- 19:22Speaker 3: it's a talented roster. I'm not sure if all the
- 19:26Speaker 3: pieces click together. Maybe a mid season trade top Bart
- 19:31Speaker 3: for some shooting guip will be necessary because he's more
- 19:36Speaker 3: explanable now that Colin Murray Boils has on that he
- 19:40Speaker 3: can play in this league, and they also have raised
- 19:43Speaker 3: Action Davis for the backup five. But I'm seeing a
- 19:47Speaker 3: bit of imbalance in the roster, mainly because there is
- 19:50Speaker 3: no depth, no real depth behind the starters. But it's
- 19:55Speaker 3: gonna be fun starting five to watch for sure, if
- 19:57Speaker 3: they all stay healthy, if Kawhi, if the QUI trade
- 20:00Speaker 3: goes through, and I hope that they don't avoid it
- 20:03Speaker 3: and make whatever we discuss here unnecessary next week or
- 20:07Speaker 3: so for what is worth.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Kawai said that he expects to play.
- 20:11Speaker 3: In Toronto, and if someone knows what's happening, I guess
- 20:15Speaker 3: it's quite himself.
- 20:16Speaker 2: So that's something also to think about.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Yeah, he wants to be back there, and they do.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Let me tell you. Up in Canada here they freaking
- 20:25Speaker 1: adore Kawhi.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I was gonna ask you, We ask you the same
- 20:29Speaker 3: thing because I had a friend here in Greece who
- 20:31Speaker 3: lives in Toronto for the last five years, and he
- 20:34Speaker 3: tells me that both him and Laurier are like national
- 20:36Speaker 3: heroes there. So it's oh, yeah, they are indeed that
- 20:41Speaker 3: much beloved.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Right after the championship, yeah for sure.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Okay, we're onto the Central and the Chicago Bulls maybe
- 20:50Speaker 1: starting to get it, starting to do smarter things. Who
- 20:53Speaker 1: knows they were they got them they horned into that
- 20:57Speaker 1: four way trade and spitting out of the machine. Was
- 21:01Speaker 1: Nick Claxon for them. That's pretty good. I like Nick Claxon,
- 21:04Speaker 1: speedy junior he is, He'll get you a little bit
- 21:07Speaker 1: of everything, and the Nets are not making grace use
- 21:11Speaker 1: of him. And then they signed Norman Powell, who's had
- 21:14Speaker 1: an amazing kind of mid light career renaissance. He kind
- 21:18Speaker 1: of was, he was kind of okay, he's kind of
- 21:20Speaker 1: popping around for a while. Then All Star time over
- 21:24Speaker 1: with the Heat after really having a pretty good season
- 21:27Speaker 1: with the Clippers before that. Yeah, so Norman Powell big
- 21:31Speaker 1: signing again, it's the Bulls. Why are we doing a
- 21:33Speaker 1: big signing if we're not going to be all that good?
- 21:35Speaker 1: But they also got they got Caleb Wilson obviously in
- 21:38Speaker 1: the draft. We're not going over the draftees and the
- 21:40Speaker 1: guys they lost. Anthony Simon's probably wishes he was back
- 21:43Speaker 1: on the Bulls right now because you'd probably get a
- 21:45Speaker 1: bit more usage there. You still got Josh Giddy and
- 21:47Speaker 1: Norman Powell and some of those guys. But they lost
- 21:50Speaker 1: Colin Sexton to the Lakers and Hama Gay. The Gay
- 21:54Speaker 1: boys are they're two of them, and I think mohammadu
- 21:57Speaker 1: Is is he the better one? Isn't there one with
- 22:00Speaker 1: Atlanta and their both.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 22:05Speaker 1: All right, the other ones in Atlanta Anyway, the guys
- 22:07Speaker 1: they lost are probably not big impact guys. Simon's is
- 22:11Speaker 1: a scorer and not much else who's financial value has
- 22:14Speaker 1: gone way down. They added a couple of good guys,
- 22:16Speaker 1: They added a great draft pack. What do you think
- 22:18Speaker 1: of changes to what's going on with the Balls?
- 22:21Speaker 3: I think after a lot of seasons in Deiocracy trying
- 22:24Speaker 3: to win and failing, I think the Bulls are finally.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Trying to do the right thing.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Now that the Projectives starting five has four sure spots
- 22:36Speaker 3: with Gid Powell, Buzzellis and Clarkston, I think they're going
- 22:40Speaker 3: to start coleb Wilson.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Maybe they try to keep Buzelles on the four and
- 22:46Speaker 3: start the Isaac Ocoro as they did last season, but
- 22:49Speaker 3: eventually I think Wilson will start.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Which this starting five is a fun starting five. Will
- 22:56Speaker 2: it win a lot of games?
- 22:58Speaker 1: No?
- 22:58Speaker 2: Will it be fun to watch? Yes?
- 23:01Speaker 3: Will it defend I guess no, again I think, but
- 23:06Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be fun to watch. And in
- 23:08Speaker 3: terms of fantasy, Nick Lakson gets to play on a
- 23:13Speaker 3: team that is a lot more competitive than the Brooklyn
- 23:16Speaker 3: has been in the last years. So it's a real
- 23:19Speaker 3: test for him because he's not so young anymore. He
- 23:24Speaker 3: has to show gains that he can play for a
- 23:26Speaker 3: winning team. There is a fantasy monster and he will
- 23:30Speaker 3: continue to be. And I agree with you the normal
- 23:33Speaker 3: power signing is an underraty one. And if he can
- 23:36Speaker 3: continue to be at the level that he has on
- 23:39Speaker 3: the last two seasons, he will have all the opportunities
- 23:42Speaker 3: to continue doing what he can and why not continue
- 23:46Speaker 3: to be a non star and we will see how
- 23:48Speaker 3: much of a leap matters Bosellis can take on a
- 23:51Speaker 3: team that is finally more functional around him. I am
- 23:55Speaker 3: excited for the Bulls also called Wilson was easily the
- 23:58Speaker 3: best player in the Summer League, and if he's as
- 24:01Speaker 3: ready as he sowed he can he can spin up
- 24:04Speaker 3: the whole process in Chicago. But I'm sure the bullsh
- 24:08Speaker 3: fans are excited to watch this decision's iteration of the Bulls.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm looking at their actual complete depth chart, and I
- 24:17Speaker 1: feel like the guys that were added, subtracted, or drafted
- 24:21Speaker 1: really comprise most of the good ones.
- 24:25Speaker 2: As much exactly exactly.
- 24:28Speaker 1: There's Martus Bozillis, who they love and who will get
- 24:31Speaker 1: a I think Cale Wilson absolutely is playing a ton
- 24:34Speaker 1: this year. He's one of the most exciting things they've
- 24:36Speaker 1: got going. And we'll see if Josh getting But yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 1: this this roster's got a lot of Patrick Williams and
- 24:43Speaker 1: Isaaca Carrol going on. Yeah.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the question is, I'm not really sure
- 24:49Speaker 3: how they will view Buzillis and Wilson of the three
- 24:52Speaker 3: and the four. Are they interchangeable? Do they keep starting
- 24:55Speaker 3: Buzillis at the four and keep Wison of the three?
- 24:58Speaker 3: It's they can try a little things. But as you said,
- 25:01Speaker 3: all the substructions were the mediocre guys are best, and
- 25:03Speaker 3: all the additions are exciting guys.
- 25:05Speaker 2: So that that that's good. That's good.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure. And now the Bulls
- 25:10Speaker 1: are living in the era where their strategy of making
- 25:13Speaker 1: the playing game is actually rewarded. Finally, finally we get
- 25:17Speaker 1: to the Halcyondes for the Bulls. The Cleveland Cavaliers did
- 25:22Speaker 1: not do much. They had a very expensive team and
- 25:25Speaker 1: they racked on a few more years of Spider Donovan Mitchell,
- 25:29Speaker 1: but they lost a couple of fringe guys. Kean Ellis,
- 25:32Speaker 1: We've mentioned, Dean Wade, we mentioned this episode, Larry Nance
- 25:35Speaker 1: Junior we mentioned and then they pulled. They pulled contract
- 25:39Speaker 1: shenanigans with Europe. They're they're trying to screw with the
- 25:43Speaker 1: integrity of the leagues over there because as I understand
- 25:46Speaker 1: that Mario Hazonia is signed strictly to get him out
- 25:51Speaker 1: of his contract with Real Madrid so he can go
- 25:54Speaker 1: to a different team.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Atroversies and.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, I've learnt that the Cavaliers are
- 26:03Speaker 1: just doing something nice for him just to piss with
- 26:05Speaker 1: the European basketball.
- 26:08Speaker 3: The narrative from when the first rumors about his own
- 26:11Speaker 3: and started is.
- 26:12Speaker 2: That he wants to go to Dubai SC.
- 26:15Speaker 3: So I guess the conspiracy theory here is that he
- 26:18Speaker 3: paid the buy out himself. The Cavaliers do him a
- 26:22Speaker 3: favor by signing him to an angarent in contract, He
- 26:26Speaker 3: plays I don't know, some training games or whatever, and
- 26:30Speaker 3: they release him and then he signs with Dubai just
- 26:33Speaker 3: to get out of the construction loophole of this is
- 26:35Speaker 3: an NBA out close and not a EuroLeague out close,
- 26:39Speaker 3: so the only time will tell if if this is
- 26:41Speaker 3: int the case, or if he will need to be
- 26:43Speaker 3: back against there is a rotation spot to fill in
- 26:46Speaker 3: within Wade the Living, But I don't know, I don't know.
- 26:50Speaker 2: It's we've shared this tale with a hundred different versions,
- 26:54Speaker 2: so only time mill tail.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, the cavalier's owner must owe a crown prince
- 27:00Speaker 1: a favor or something. We'll we'll see what comes out
- 27:02Speaker 1: of that. I gotta be careful, man, I'm on a
- 27:04Speaker 1: podcast now that could be Libel and they're very rich people.
- 27:08Speaker 1: But luckily nobody cares what I say. So everything will
- 27:12Speaker 1: be fine. Everything will be fine. The Pistons, gosh, they
- 27:15Speaker 1: were so good in the regular season. They just killed
- 27:18Speaker 1: in the regular season and in the playoffs it didn't happen.
- 27:22Speaker 1: The Pistons kind of magical season really petered out in
- 27:25Speaker 1: the playoffs, and they did make some changes because of it.
- 27:29Speaker 1: They brought in John Collins. Is that the cure to
- 27:34Speaker 1: winning problems rarely, if ever? But John Collins will give
- 27:39Speaker 1: you some fantasy stats and he will have to find
- 27:41Speaker 1: those somewhere on this team. Gary Harris coming in at fringe,
- 27:46Speaker 1: Isaiah Joe who you never know with guys who had
- 27:49Speaker 1: smallish roles with the Thunder. He's a sharpshooter. He'll come in.
- 27:53Speaker 1: That probably will help the Pistons a little bit with
- 27:55Speaker 1: just clearing out some space for kid Torrian Prince, Okay whatever.
- 27:59Speaker 1: They also lost Tobias Harris, Karris Lavert went out, Marcus
- 28:03Speaker 1: Sasser Isaiah Stewart beefs to man, that's a guy who
- 28:07Speaker 1: had a reputation and I don't know if it's just
- 28:09Speaker 1: because he got in fights for a little while there,
- 28:12Speaker 1: but he was like a big deal there as a
- 28:13Speaker 1: center and now suddenly he he just moved out because
- 28:17Speaker 1: the Grizzlies are assembling the monstars. They're just assembling a
- 28:20Speaker 1: bunch of really tall players and going to see what happens.
- 28:23Speaker 1: So what do you think of these changes to the Pistons.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Looks like they they got a yeah, I don't know,
- 28:28Speaker 1: they got a little bit more John Collins, what do
- 28:30Speaker 1: you think?
- 28:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess the two interesting players here John Collins
- 28:34Speaker 3: and is Ion Joe. John Collins, as you said, is
- 28:38Speaker 3: not on fed correlated with winning, so that's not a
- 28:41Speaker 3: good sign. At least He's a much better points shoner
- 28:45Speaker 3: than Bias Scottish, which is weird. To say, but if
- 28:48Speaker 3: you look at his three point percentage the last three seasons,
- 28:51Speaker 3: he's a better three point sooner than Tobias Scottish and
- 28:55Speaker 3: that's something that Troit desperately needs, especially with Alsha Thompson
- 29:00Speaker 3: on the floor and Jellien Duran, so they need shooting
- 29:04Speaker 3: in all the other positions. That's why they started also
- 29:07Speaker 3: Duncan Robinson last season also Kenny Za Joe surpassed Duncan
- 29:12Speaker 3: Robinson for the starting position easily, so that's the name
- 29:16Speaker 3: to watch there as well. And as you said, the
- 29:18Speaker 3: guys that lay twenty minutes for the Thunder can play
- 29:22Speaker 3: thirty five in another team and be Fantasy superstars, so
- 29:25Speaker 3: that's always a thing to watch. I think Joe is
- 29:29Speaker 3: a good piece of business for Detroit. I'm not so
- 29:32Speaker 3: sure for Collins. On paper, it's a better fit than
- 29:37Speaker 3: Bias Cars in terms of spacing the floor, but he's
- 29:40Speaker 3: a much more one dimensional player than Thebias. And there
- 29:44Speaker 3: is obviously the thing with Jalen Duran. He has not
- 29:49Speaker 3: signed his qualifying offer yet. They have not come to
- 29:52Speaker 3: an agreement of the contract, and if they start the
- 29:55Speaker 3: season with just the qualifying offer signed, I don't know.
- 30:00Speaker 2: What is going to happen.
- 30:02Speaker 3: So that's another story to pay attention to. I think
- 30:06Speaker 3: the lasting too, is that they eventually agree on a
- 30:09Speaker 3: conduct extension because there is no market right now for
- 30:13Speaker 3: a max level contract. I think only Memphis has a
- 30:16Speaker 3: cup space or something like that, and they do need
- 30:19Speaker 3: another big guy there, as you said, in Memphis, but
- 30:22Speaker 3: I don't think they sign.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Maybe that's why they've really signed. Isaiah's traded Isaiah Stewart there.
- 30:29Speaker 1: It was forty chess. If you take thieves too, you're
- 30:32Speaker 1: not gonna want Jalen Duran. You're the only people who
- 30:34Speaker 1: can afford.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Him exactly exactly.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Yeah, it is crazy times. Yeah, Jalen
- 30:41Speaker 1: Duran is just hanging out there. People could make a
- 30:43Speaker 1: big offer on him and it's just not happening. And
- 30:46Speaker 1: yet he is probably the second most important player on
- 30:50Speaker 1: the one seed from the Eastern Conference last year. So
- 30:53Speaker 1: you make of that what you want, becauss. Let's take
- 30:56Speaker 1: a brief break. We're going to come back and talk
- 30:58Speaker 1: to some more Eastern Conference back costas and now we're
- 31:14Speaker 1: going to the Indiana Pacers, who just you know, they
- 31:16Speaker 1: took a gap year last year. They just they chilled out.
- 31:19Speaker 1: They went to Europe, they found themselves because they had
- 31:22Speaker 1: no Tyrese Haliburton. They made a big trade for Vicha Zubach,
- 31:27Speaker 1: but really that didn't amount to much because they really
- 31:30Speaker 1: didn't play him after that. They just bought him to
- 31:32Speaker 1: have him around, And because really they were not looking
- 31:35Speaker 1: to be particularly successful last year, they brought in a
- 31:38Speaker 1: couple fringe guys. You've already mentioned Larry Nance, Kelly Ubray,
- 31:41Speaker 1: a couple of guys around the outside there, and I
- 31:44Speaker 1: don't know Cam Jones left. There's not much going on here, yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 1: so I don't know. The biggest changes coming for the
- 31:50Speaker 1: Pacers this year really are the guys who are going
- 31:52Speaker 1: to be back, and maybe the guys who are already
- 31:54Speaker 1: there who have to adjust to it. But there's a
- 31:56Speaker 1: couple of fringe guys. What do you think is going
- 31:57Speaker 1: on here?
- 31:59Speaker 3: I'll just say the big question mark here is how
- 32:03Speaker 3: ready Taris Aliburton is to come back. He missed the
- 32:07Speaker 3: whole season, so in theory, that's plenty of time to recover,
- 32:11Speaker 3: but we have to wait and see it. We also
- 32:13Speaker 3: have to wait and see how if it's a Zoba
- 32:16Speaker 3: fits with this roster, because as you said he didn't
- 32:19Speaker 3: really play last season, and obviously the Indiana pass play
- 32:23Speaker 3: with the base that Haliburton sets, so they're completely different
- 32:27Speaker 3: in without him. Can they replicate the miracle round they
- 32:30Speaker 3: had the two years ago.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I'm not really sure.
- 32:35Speaker 3: I'm not seeing it with this roster, but nobody's saw
- 32:38Speaker 3: it coming at that point, so we cannot let them off.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Key Librett does provide.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Some good depth of the forward positions, but I wouldn't
- 32:47Speaker 3: bother for him in fantasy. He wasn't really inelevant when
- 32:50Speaker 3: he was playing thirty two minutes. I don't see how
- 32:53Speaker 3: he becomes relevant here. So I guess, as you said,
- 32:57Speaker 3: it's how will the existing players return and the mess
- 33:01Speaker 3: with one another than anything or exciting that is happening
- 33:05Speaker 3: with the basis.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see. They could be one of the best
- 33:09Speaker 1: teams in the East if Tyrese is back and in form,
- 33:12Speaker 1: but probably not something that's going to positively impact players.
- 33:17Speaker 1: You've been relying on the Milwaukee Bucks. We already said
- 33:22Speaker 1: that the seventy six ers were team change, but Milwaukee
- 33:26Speaker 1: and another team soon to come, said hold my beer
- 33:29Speaker 1: because the famous trade of the off season, Yiannis on
- 33:32Speaker 1: Tintakoupo is gone. We are in mourning for your countryman,
- 33:37Speaker 1: Giannis in Milwaukee Land, and basically they just traded for
- 33:42Speaker 1: the whole Heat team. They sent everything. They sent South Beach,
- 33:46Speaker 1: They sent a bunch of pink flamingos up to Milwaukee.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Were set. We put a bunch of new sand on
- 33:52Speaker 1: the beach on Bradford Beach there on Lake Michigan. And
- 33:55Speaker 1: they sent back Tyler Hero who seems like kind of
- 33:59Speaker 1: an irritable little guy, but he is from the Milwaukee suburbs.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Caspers yaka Jonas, who is still just coming into his own.
- 34:08Speaker 1: He was a rookie last year. There seems to be
- 34:10Speaker 1: something here for the guy. So we'll see Haimi Hatkez
- 34:14Speaker 1: kind of a floor razer. He'll be out there. He'll
- 34:16Speaker 1: be playing some defense. He had a pretty good year
- 34:19Speaker 1: last year, really, and then kellel Ware, who I really like,
- 34:22Speaker 1: although occasionally Eric's spulster did not seem to We'll see
- 34:26Speaker 1: if Taylor Jenkins likes him more and keeps him out there,
- 34:28Speaker 1: because he's great for your stats when he's out there
- 34:31Speaker 1: on the court, and not Miles Bridges or Miles Turner
- 34:35Speaker 1: is still there, but Bobby Portis is not and this
- 34:37Speaker 1: is really the big day acquired in that deal. And
- 34:39Speaker 1: then Karis Lbert Okay, Karris Lbert out on the fringes,
- 34:43Speaker 1: and of course last Giannis lost Bobby Portis. Bobby Portis
- 34:47Speaker 1: famously traded as a part of this because the Bucks
- 34:51Speaker 1: would not do the trade without moving Bobby Portis because
- 34:54Speaker 1: of the salary and the fact that it's upside down now.
- 34:56Speaker 1: And that's really pissing off boy Bobby Portis because other
- 35:00Speaker 1: I know him about that. He is really pissed that
- 35:02Speaker 1: people are saying that about him. Gary Harris story in
- 35:05Speaker 1: prints whatever. They went off to the Pistons. Boy, Milwaukee.
- 35:10Speaker 1: This is a brand new team. This is probably one
- 35:12Speaker 1: of the worst teams in the NBA, But there's always that.
- 35:15Speaker 1: What do you think of as.
- 35:17Speaker 3: It's a very difficult rotation to try and figure before
- 35:21Speaker 3: the season starts. I guess, as you said, kelll Ware
- 35:25Speaker 3: is very interesting. Whenever he got minutes with Miami, he
- 35:28Speaker 3: was a machine for funders. Even in limited minutes, he
- 35:33Speaker 3: was very good. His game is very fund as friendly.
- 35:37Speaker 3: So we should keep a very close eye on this.
- 35:40Speaker 3: I don't know if how the Bucks we tried to
- 35:43Speaker 3: do this. They have hero we will start. Last season
- 35:47Speaker 3: they started Tryan Rowlins and Kevin Porter Junior at the
- 35:50Speaker 3: guard positions. I guess one of them will not start now.
- 35:54Speaker 3: The small forward position is also a question mark. I
- 35:58Speaker 3: guess they will start there. It's that's the first name
- 36:02Speaker 3: that comes up to mind. But Hagas is also not
- 36:05Speaker 3: so interesting in terms of fantasy because he used to
- 36:09Speaker 3: get minutes with a hit didn't do really much with them.
- 36:13Speaker 3: And there's also the question of the four do they
- 36:16Speaker 3: start Kyle Cozma. Do you want to do anything with
- 36:19Speaker 3: Kyle Kurdman fantasy? This is an easy answer. The answer
- 36:22Speaker 3: is no, obviously, but he might get some means from
- 36:26Speaker 3: the other guys. They also have their rookies, bread and
- 36:29Speaker 3: Barries and Nate Ammond, who should get opportunity as the
- 36:32Speaker 3: season goes on.
- 36:34Speaker 2: It's a very tough team to try and predict.
- 36:38Speaker 3: It will be very interesting also to see how the
- 36:40Speaker 3: former hit guys transitioned to an offensive scheme that includes
- 36:45Speaker 3: pick and rolls. Because Miami did not do any pick
- 36:49Speaker 3: and rolls last season. That was the single team in
- 36:52Speaker 3: the league that decided that we're not going to do
- 36:54Speaker 3: pick and rolls. They try to create opportunity by moving
- 36:57Speaker 3: guys through space and trying to better man of dribble,
- 37:00Speaker 3: which is exactly the opposite of what the whole league
- 37:04Speaker 3: is doing. It was interesting to see, but it can
- 37:09Speaker 3: have a huge impact on the statistical profile of guys
- 37:12Speaker 3: because when you don't have you don't run a pick
- 37:15Speaker 3: and roll ball hundreds are much less effective. So maybe
- 37:21Speaker 3: we can see some statistical shifts we don't expect in
- 37:24Speaker 3: those guys. Maybe Hackeys can start running some pick and
- 37:27Speaker 3: roll and they can expand his game. Maybe ad simplayer
- 37:30Speaker 3: making there or the same thing can happen for Hero
- 37:33Speaker 3: or Kelllware can find some easier baskets as a role
- 37:37Speaker 3: man in the pick and roll. That's the thing to see.
- 37:41Speaker 3: And as a side note, it will be interesting to
- 37:42Speaker 3: see how the Miami he do this with bum and youngs.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Will they keep at it? Will they try to change
- 37:50Speaker 3: up their offensive scene? I guess yes, but we will
- 37:54Speaker 3: see in a bit. So I think those are the
- 37:56Speaker 3: main things we expect to ship from the Bucks, and
- 37:58Speaker 3: obviously they will move Turner and Kuzma as the season
- 38:02Speaker 3: goes on to completely dismantle the team they had the
- 38:06Speaker 3: last season, which is I guess the logical thing to do,
- 38:10Speaker 3: but it's always easy to do trades on paper rather
- 38:14Speaker 3: than real life.
- 38:14Speaker 1: So yeah, oh of course, yeah yeah, Hero Kuzma, LeVert,
- 38:20Speaker 1: Kevin Porter Junior. These guys are all on expiring contracts,
- 38:23Speaker 1: so they have to think about them. But I want
- 38:26Speaker 1: to stop you. I want to stop you right there, Coasters,
- 38:29Speaker 1: because I'm deeply offended. You named all these players who
- 38:32Speaker 1: are going to be relevant in the rotation last year,
- 38:34Speaker 1: but you have forgotten one player, And in fact, it
- 38:37Speaker 1: is the player who is owed the most money by
- 38:40Speaker 1: this team in future years, most guaranteed money on the
- 38:44Speaker 1: books coming up for him. You forgot Gary Trent Junior,
- 38:50Speaker 1: who the Bucks have already decided is a potential future
- 38:54Speaker 1: Hall of Famer by guaranteeing him over sixty million dollars
- 39:00Speaker 1: over the next four years too, in an act of
- 39:03Speaker 1: amazing collusion.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Gossip. You need to give me the gossip.
- 39:10Speaker 1: So basically the deal is here that they tried to
- 39:14Speaker 1: put the team around Giannis that they thought could do
- 39:16Speaker 1: the best. They brought in Gary Trent Junior and they said, okay, Gary,
- 39:19Speaker 1: we're going to sign you for a small contract because
- 39:21Speaker 1: we got to squeeze everything. We're in second apron Land.
- 39:25Speaker 1: We got to get you for what we can. But
- 39:27Speaker 1: don't worry. Next year we will pay you like crazy.
- 39:30Speaker 1: We promise, wink wink, and they can't promise. That is
- 39:34Speaker 1: highly deeply illegal. And then the Bucks signed Gary Trent
- 39:38Speaker 1: Junior to an absolutely astounding, ridiculous contract for the next
- 39:43Speaker 1: four years. It's basically fifteen million this year, then it's
- 39:47Speaker 1: going to get up to sixteen for the next couple. Yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 1: it's terrible, and they were actually under investigation by the
- 39:54Speaker 1: league because everybody else is like, Okay, seriously, this is
- 39:58Speaker 1: a under the table deal that they are following through
- 40:01Speaker 1: with some agent because they don't want to piss off
- 40:03Speaker 1: the agent.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Probably, But now, did we just find their starting small
- 40:09Speaker 2: photo for the Bucks?
- 40:10Speaker 1: Then? Oh, I think we did. I mean they're going
- 40:13Speaker 1: to have to play them. Last year Doc got him
- 40:17Speaker 1: and Doctor just benched him. Doc's like, we're not playing
- 40:20Speaker 1: this guy. But now it's going to be like they
- 40:22Speaker 1: have to play him.
- 40:26Speaker 3: And it's so awesome how little goes to the other
- 40:29Speaker 3: side of all those dealings that happens behind closed doors,
- 40:32Speaker 3: even in the NBA.
- 40:34Speaker 2: It's I even I haven't heard about this at all,
- 40:36Speaker 2: so I thought it was okay.
- 40:39Speaker 1: No, this is obviously Kawhi is much more consequential. But
- 40:44Speaker 1: this is being dealt with in some ways as a
- 40:47Speaker 1: much clearer case of collusion, and the Bucks really could
- 40:49Speaker 1: get in trouble. The joke is among everybody is the
- 40:53Speaker 1: best punishment for the Bucks is to make them keep
- 40:55Speaker 1: Gary Trent Junior on that contract. That would be an
- 40:58Speaker 1: absolute death noelt of the Bucks cap situation. Of course,
- 41:02Speaker 1: Kevin Porter Junior because now we're talking about more guards.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Kevin Porter Junior, famously famously tempestuous guy. If he lose
- 41:10Speaker 1: the minutes, that's not gonna go. Well. But again, you
- 41:13Speaker 1: can't not play Brayden Burry's and Ryan Rollins is outstanding.
- 41:17Speaker 1: He played great. So there's gonna be plenty of drama
- 41:20Speaker 1: to watch with the Bucks if nothing else. And I'm
- 41:22Speaker 1: excited because for the first time in many years, NBA
- 41:26Speaker 1: TV won't be a lead passed, will not be blocking
- 41:28Speaker 1: the Bucks because I'm not living in Milwaukee, so I'll
- 41:31Speaker 1: be able to watch them on a more regular basis. Well,
- 41:36Speaker 1: who knew we could go that long on what might
- 41:38Speaker 1: be the worst team in the NBA. Next year, there's
- 41:40Speaker 1: a lot of ten there. Who knows, but there is.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Yeah, now that you mentioned the Gary Trent thing that
- 41:47Speaker 4: I didn't know, you cannot. On top of this the
- 41:50Speaker 4: Lillard money that they owe from the stretching. You can
- 41:53Speaker 4: see that the Bucks are screwed from cup space for
- 41:55Speaker 4: the next season, So I guess there will be bad
- 41:58Speaker 4: for a little while longer.
- 42:00Speaker 1: The recent years have been the anomaly for the Bucks. Wait,
- 42:04Speaker 1: we were not used to happiness, and that is, but
- 42:07Speaker 1: they still and two of their first round picks left
- 42:10Speaker 1: this decadeighteen and twenty nineteen. They don't have so there's
- 42:15Speaker 1: still out two picks and the Miami Ones won't really
- 42:17Speaker 1: start kicking in until the twenty thirties. Yeah, and Lillard
- 42:21Speaker 1: that that money is going to haunt them until twenty
- 42:24Speaker 1: twenty nine to twenty thirty. So basically the Bucks are
- 42:27Speaker 1: going to stink for the rest of this decade. Or
- 42:29Speaker 1: that's what would do moved out just in time, I think. Yeah, again,
- 42:34Speaker 1: basically like the twenty tens. That's what we're back to here,
- 42:37Speaker 1: all right, Let's get to the southeast. The Atlanta Hawks.
- 42:41Speaker 1: The Atlanta Hawks, they're building to something and they made
- 42:43Speaker 1: a couple of they made a couple of deals. They
- 42:46Speaker 1: brought in Devin Carter, fine, but he's a still a
- 42:50Speaker 1: young player that could be some promise there. Lou Dort
- 42:52Speaker 1: very ornery, defensive minded guy who will fit on that team.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Aaron Wiggins also coming from the Thunder, the third they were.
- 42:59Speaker 1: They took advantage the fact that the Thunder had to
- 43:01Speaker 1: move some salary. They had to move decent players who
- 43:03Speaker 1: were part of a championship team. And then Ryan Nemhart
- 43:06Speaker 1: from the Mavericks because it's time to get rid of
- 43:09Speaker 1: Zachary Richet. That depresses me. Zachary. I didn't think he
- 43:14Speaker 1: was going to be that bad, but he really is.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Oh not great man.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I think they gave up to quotim him. Yeah, they
- 43:21Speaker 2: gave up to put him. They we'll see.
- 43:22Speaker 3: I think we discussed the resision with Dallas. But in
- 43:25Speaker 3: terms of the Atlata Hawks, it's obviously it's obvious that
- 43:28Speaker 3: they like their starting group. They just tried to bolter
- 43:31Speaker 3: their bends and I think they did a great job
- 43:33Speaker 3: on this. The question remains if a championship caliber team
- 43:38Speaker 3: can be led by Jalen Johnson. The fantasy team for sure,
- 43:42Speaker 3: Jillen Johnson's awesome. In terms of real basketball, I'm not
- 43:46Speaker 3: really sure, but I like their moves during this ob season.
- 43:49Speaker 3: They extended the Jim McCollum to try to bridge the
- 43:52Speaker 3: gap between him and the Kingston Flemings, supposedly taking the
- 43:57Speaker 3: reins of the pointer.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Position at some point.
- 44:00Speaker 3: That's a smart piece of business, and they did both
- 44:03Speaker 3: of their bends. So I don't expect to make sure
- 44:07Speaker 3: sake ups in terms of fatness in value. Risa was
- 44:10Speaker 3: faded out of the rotation last season, so I don't
- 44:13Speaker 3: think we're going to see something very different here. It's
- 44:18Speaker 3: more a question of can they go all the way?
- 44:22Speaker 3: Can they make a playoff run with this roster, or
- 44:25Speaker 3: they need another pitch on top of what they already have.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Yeah, because as far as I know, Jonathan Kuminga is
- 44:31Speaker 1: still not signed and he technically his cap hold is
- 44:34Speaker 1: bigger than the contract of any player on the team
- 44:38Speaker 1: for next year. That's kind of crazy. They've got a
- 44:40Speaker 1: lot of mid players again. Dyson Daniels seems like a
- 44:43Speaker 1: star in fantasy because of all the steals, he's not
- 44:46Speaker 1: really a star in real life kids. Even on defense,
- 44:48Speaker 1: he's not all that. So they got a kind of
- 44:51Speaker 1: a lot of middle of the road players. It seems
- 44:53Speaker 1: like a play in level of players. But maybe the
- 44:57Speaker 1: sun will be greater than the whole, will be better
- 45:02Speaker 1: than the sum of the parts. That's what I'm meant
- 45:04Speaker 1: to say. Yeah, that thing. Yeah, so yeah, we'll see
- 45:08Speaker 1: how the Hawks do. Charlotte Hornets had some seismic shifts
- 45:12Speaker 1: this offseason. Boo boo. They obviously they moved LaMelo Ball,
- 45:17Speaker 1: they moved Miles Bridge as two of their kind of
- 45:21Speaker 1: star players from the past few years. But now they
- 45:23Speaker 1: got Conkinentple and Brandon Miller. And they brought in Grayson Allen,
- 45:28Speaker 1: who was very expensive because matt Ishbio was given out
- 45:32Speaker 1: crazy money and he is going to hopefully be healthy
- 45:37Speaker 1: enough to provide some threes. And again, where there is
- 45:40Speaker 1: a North Carolina player in Charlotte, there has to be
- 45:43Speaker 1: a Duchie as well, and I guess he's going with
- 45:46Speaker 1: Conkinentple there, they brought in nas Reed from the Timberwolves.
- 45:50Speaker 1: That's a pretty savvy pickup. Nwas Reid really seems to
- 45:53Speaker 1: have taken a step, although he's also signed to a
- 45:56Speaker 1: fair bit of money. And then Royce O'Neil, Dorian Finney Smith,
- 46:00Speaker 1: a couple of dorin Phinney Smith really fell off last
- 46:02Speaker 1: year and he's signed a lot of money. The Hornets
- 46:05Speaker 1: are a place where you can hold some bad contracts
- 46:07Speaker 1: for a while if you can get something back for it,
- 46:09Speaker 1: and their management is a lot better than it has
- 46:12Speaker 1: been in past years. But and then Josh Green left,
- 46:14Speaker 1: I don't know Josh Green was doing all that. Yeah,
- 46:17Speaker 1: Charlotte Hornets, this is a completely different team really at
- 46:20Speaker 1: the top. Mellow and Bridges gone, nas Reid in what
- 46:24Speaker 1: do you think?
- 46:26Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of usage has left Charlotte, so there
- 46:31Speaker 2: is a person there for sure.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Obviously, we will wait and see how Cnumple first in
- 46:37Speaker 3: his second year of the league. He had a very
- 46:39Speaker 3: good rookie season, so I didn't see the reason why
- 46:42Speaker 3: he cannot improve. It's now Brandon Miller's team, so it'd
- 46:47Speaker 3: be interesting to see how he handles this role moving on.
- 46:52Speaker 3: And As will also start, and I think he's a
- 46:57Speaker 3: name to watch for sure, because although salah Horns will
- 47:02Speaker 3: not be combetitive, he can feeling that starts it if
- 47:05Speaker 3: he gets regular minutes. We saw in Minnesota as well
- 47:08Speaker 3: that when neither Compared or Rundle was injured, he was
- 47:14Speaker 3: a good fantasy contributor and for some seasons even as
- 47:17Speaker 3: a bench guy, he was very much useful. Also, they
- 47:22Speaker 3: should start Coby White at the punker position, so after
- 47:26Speaker 3: the falling off a cliff in terms of fantasy value
- 47:30Speaker 3: when she moved out of Chicago, now White has another
- 47:33Speaker 3: chance to lead an NBA team and be very fund
- 47:36Speaker 3: as irrelevant.
- 47:38Speaker 2: That's a name to watch as well. And finally, I'm
- 47:40Speaker 2: interested to see how they will go with the center position.
- 47:45Speaker 3: They started last season with alc Brenner at the midway point,
- 47:50Speaker 3: Mussatbata took over, but now there is also the rookie
- 47:53Speaker 3: Steinbach on the mix, and he seems a good project
- 47:58Speaker 3: to rely on. So with the Hornets not playing for anything,
- 48:03Speaker 3: maybe he will get a chance to showcase his value
- 48:07Speaker 3: at the starting point at some point in the season.
- 48:10Speaker 2: So that's another name to watch.
- 48:11Speaker 3: But it will be completely different in last the next
- 48:14Speaker 3: season forms that's for sure. I guess they decided that
- 48:19Speaker 3: they cannot be really competitive with Samelo and Bridges. So
- 48:24Speaker 3: it's indeed the weird timing because they played their best
- 48:28Speaker 3: basketball for the last five seasons last season, but they
- 48:32Speaker 3: had to do something because the contracts were going to
- 48:34Speaker 3: run out eventually, so it seems like a weird move,
- 48:39Speaker 3: but I think in the long run they had they
- 48:41Speaker 3: did what they had to do to try and be
- 48:43Speaker 3: really competitive.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and that, Yeah, LaMelo's out there crashing cars. The
- 48:49Speaker 1: one guy who I am really this is one of
- 48:52Speaker 1: the guys I'm most excited about, and I've not been
- 48:54Speaker 1: able to acquire him in leagues, But Kobe White is
- 48:56Speaker 1: the guy who I'm really like trying to get in
- 49:00Speaker 1: right now because I think with mellow out of town,
- 49:03Speaker 1: Kobe is pretty good. Yeah, he's the North Carolina to
- 49:06Speaker 1: balance out those dookies, and yeah, I think he's I
- 49:09Speaker 1: think he's going to take a step up with all
- 49:11Speaker 1: that usage opening up this year.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Like you said, I think I can send it.
- 49:15Speaker 3: And he has been a top seventy player when he
- 49:18Speaker 3: gets a real minutes to start, so I don't see
- 49:21Speaker 3: reason why he cannot continue with friend in any minutes.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Yes, onto the Miami Heat. Of course, they're on the
- 49:28Speaker 1: other side of absolutely losing their team. Hero yaka Jonas
- 49:33Speaker 1: Hakez Powell where and Powell again not part of the
- 49:36Speaker 1: Milwaukee trade. He signed with the Bucks because again they
- 49:39Speaker 1: couldn't afford. They had to clean house to be able
- 49:43Speaker 1: to get Giannis and Portus on the books. They also
- 49:46Speaker 1: brought in Tim Hardaway, who is not he For a
- 49:49Speaker 1: while he was really over, He was really maligned for
- 49:53Speaker 1: being paid too much for a few years. And then
- 49:55Speaker 1: since I think he's kind of settled into this role
- 49:57Speaker 1: as kind of a bench score in decent and they're
- 50:00Speaker 1: probably gonna need him this year because this is a
- 50:02Speaker 1: pretty shallow team. Now they're gonna they're gonna have to
- 50:05Speaker 1: rely on Gianni's Bam Wiggins, Yovich, count On Jovic, already
- 50:11Speaker 1: poured Mitchell Hardaway. Maybe finally the Simon Fontacchio will get
- 50:16Speaker 1: some run. What do you think is going on with
- 50:18Speaker 1: the Miami Heat.
- 50:21Speaker 3: Yeah, they had to lose a lot of depth to
- 50:24Speaker 3: get Yannis. Obviously, when you have the chance to get
- 50:27Speaker 3: the real superstar, you pull the trigger. The the back
- 50:31Speaker 3: court is looking mighty thing. I guess they will start
- 50:34Speaker 3: Davin Mitchell at the one. I don't know who starts
- 50:37Speaker 3: of the two. Maybe they try with the pel Larson
- 50:39Speaker 3: more shooting. I don't think how the way Jor makes
- 50:43Speaker 3: any sense as a starting guy there, and they're gonna
- 50:46Speaker 3: need as much shooting as they can, because that's the
- 50:50Speaker 3: game you need to play. With Janie there, you have
- 50:54Speaker 3: as much shooting as you can around him. And it
- 50:57Speaker 3: would be very reasing to say, as I said about
- 50:59Speaker 3: the asks, how the Miami offensive schemes will evolve with Yanni's,
- 51:05Speaker 3: if they will try again to play with no picking rolls,
- 51:08Speaker 3: or if they will try to adapt with Yannis both
- 51:11Speaker 3: as a screener and as a bold handler, because that's
- 51:14Speaker 3: one of the strong points of his game. I think
- 51:18Speaker 3: Bum will lose some of his of the playmaking that
- 51:21Speaker 3: he used to have with Yanni's being the top dog
- 51:25Speaker 3: there now. But I think we will see some guys
- 51:29Speaker 3: that we do not expect emerge here because as you said,
- 51:33Speaker 3: there are a lot of minutes go around.
- 51:35Speaker 2: This is a very thin rotation.
- 51:38Speaker 3: So maybe some guy that we don't expect from Tekyo
- 51:41Speaker 3: or Pell Larson plays real starter minutes because they need shooting,
- 51:45Speaker 3: they need someone to play, and besides Yani is Bum
- 51:49Speaker 3: and the Wikins, nothing.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Is locked in their roster in their rotation, so we
- 51:57Speaker 2: have to wait and see.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Even the rookie Cornwall they get real minutes because they
- 52:03Speaker 3: don't have cup space to sign someone with there in
- 52:06Speaker 3: they gut positions, so that's something Worts as well.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Let's move on. Oh the other thing I'd say about Miami.
- 52:12Speaker 1: If any team is capable of just pulling some guy
- 52:15Speaker 1: out of thin air you've never heard of and suddenly
- 52:18Speaker 1: they can do something, it's the Miami Heat. They just
- 52:20Speaker 1: have a way of doing that. Orlando Magic not much change.
- 52:24Speaker 1: I guess the big change they're hoping for is that
- 52:27Speaker 1: Franz Wagner can play more than thirty four games next
- 52:29Speaker 1: year and Jalen Suggs can play more than fifty seven.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Because they didn't change much. They Mo Wagner brother Moe
- 52:36Speaker 1: is off to Brooklyn and back is franchise hero Nikola Busovich,
- 52:43Speaker 1: who has been on a sojourn to Chicago and then
- 52:46Speaker 1: briefly over to Boston. I don't I feel like he's
- 52:50Speaker 1: signed a minimum contract. They'll get stats like crazy. I'm
- 52:54Speaker 1: reading places that he's going to be like the tenth
- 52:57Speaker 1: man on the bench or something. I'm like, this guy
- 52:59Speaker 1: was in stats last year, and you can't tell me
- 53:03Speaker 1: he's not gonna play minutes in front of Goga batads
- 53:06Speaker 1: for some of the season because he's freaking Nicola Vuseovich
- 53:10Speaker 1: And maybe he doesn't really have the defense, and maybe
- 53:14Speaker 1: he completely flopped with Boston. But I feel like he's
- 53:17Speaker 1: going to be fantasy relevance, though maybe not like Bulls
- 53:20Speaker 1: level fantasy relevant, but he's gonna do some stuff for
- 53:23Speaker 1: this team. I had him in a contract league. I'm
- 53:25Speaker 1: freaking thrilled. I've got him on a minimum contract this year.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Could he still be a ten and eight type guy
- 53:31Speaker 1: something like that? I don't know. What do you think
- 53:33Speaker 1: of anything that Orlando changed other than their coach.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Yeah, schwapping mau Wagner for Nikolabovitch is a huge win.
- 53:41Speaker 3: Obviously from the basketball side of things. I think he
- 53:45Speaker 3: can be better than what he was in Borson obviously
- 53:47Speaker 3: not Chicago levels. As you said, I'm not sure he can.
- 53:50Speaker 3: He will start over Grendel Garti Junior. I find this stretch.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but.
- 53:57Speaker 3: If there is a guy that you cannot rule out
- 54:00Speaker 3: having a top one hundred fund decision, it's it's nowadays.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Nikola Woodshovitz used to be IFA this is young where
- 54:06Speaker 3: he played in every team and somehow he was the
- 54:09Speaker 3: top one hundred until he was thirty seven years old.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Now it's Wotsovitch.
- 54:13Speaker 3: So I wond drew him out, and especially if you
- 54:16Speaker 3: say in a salary league, that's still of course for
- 54:18Speaker 3: a minimum contract. I don't know if he can grab
- 54:21Speaker 3: you eight three pounds, as you said, but even with
- 54:24Speaker 3: hit in twenty minutes per game, he will be a
- 54:26Speaker 3: positive impact without hurting you anywhere. It's just the difference
- 54:30Speaker 3: that he cannot I think keep up. We saw this
- 54:33Speaker 3: in Boston as well. He cannot stay in the court
- 54:35Speaker 3: much longer lateral movement because he's getting up there. I
- 54:38Speaker 3: think he's thirty five, forty six or something like that.
- 54:41Speaker 3: So it's difficult to envision a regular role. But lip
- 54:44Speaker 3: frog in goga bitadja, Yeah sure, why not?
- 54:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, No, he's not going to start in front
- 54:49Speaker 1: a window carter, but Wendell could miss some games. If
- 54:52Speaker 1: you ever see Wendell missing a game, I'm guessing that
- 54:55Speaker 1: Bushovic can do something. But again, the other problem with
- 54:58Speaker 1: him is Roland really want to win. I'm not sure
- 55:01Speaker 1: how much Nicola with his defense can contribute. Two teams
- 55:05Speaker 1: that's winning a lot of games. So you got to
- 55:06Speaker 1: watch out there. But Washington Wizards is our final team today, Costas,
- 55:11Speaker 1: and there's a lot going on in Washington, and this
- 55:14Speaker 1: was supposed to be a moribund team in some ways.
- 55:17Speaker 1: It was going to take a long time to build up,
- 55:19Speaker 1: and sure enough they got themselves some They got themselves
- 55:23Speaker 1: a top draft picked this year. Why can't the b
- 55:26Speaker 1: YU kid? Why can't I name him? Why can't I
- 55:29Speaker 1: name him? Debon shout of a gun? That was just
- 55:33Speaker 1: a mental Okay, So aj Debonsa is in Washington now.
- 55:40Speaker 1: And unless you forget, just in case you forgot, Anthony
- 55:44Speaker 1: Davis and Trey Young appeared from nowhere last year and
- 55:47Speaker 1: then didn't play. I think Trey showed up for one
- 55:50Speaker 1: game or something like that and otherwise sat on the bench.
- 55:53Speaker 1: And then they brought in a couple of other guys
- 55:56Speaker 1: who've been relevant at different times. DeAndre Ayton played a
- 55:59Speaker 1: lot for the Lakers last year. He's definitely a flawed
- 56:02Speaker 1: and limited player, But on a franchise that already has
- 56:05Speaker 1: Anthony Davis, he could probably interested Busch. I don't know, man,
- 56:09Speaker 1: who knows what could happen here? Chris Middleton is back,
- 56:14Speaker 1: and Middleton is just getting passed around these days. It's
- 56:17Speaker 1: sad he's coming toward the end of his career. Yeah,
- 56:20Speaker 1: Alex Saaris continued to mature, Cam whitmore Man, that guy's
- 56:24Speaker 1: a mystery too, and then Keishan George. I'm just naming
- 56:26Speaker 1: guys now, but there are more players on this Wizard's team.
- 56:29Speaker 1: My point is there's more players on this Wizard's team
- 56:31Speaker 1: than you would know. Jaydeen, Hardy Gone, d'angela Wressel gone.
- 56:34Speaker 1: I didn't even remember d Angela Russell was on this team.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Maybe I just wasn't watching. Yeah, except for when Bam
- 56:41Speaker 1: put up seventy on them, I don't think anybody paid
- 56:43Speaker 1: any attention to the Wizards last year. What do you
- 56:45Speaker 1: what do you think here?
- 56:48Speaker 3: It's gonna be interesting to see how the older guys
- 56:51Speaker 3: mess with the younger guys, because, as you said, Young
- 56:54Speaker 3: and Davis practically never played the last season, so it
- 56:57Speaker 3: will be interesting to see how they start. I guess
- 57:01Speaker 3: the four of the five starting spots are locked with
- 57:04Speaker 3: the Bats are Young, Davis, and Sar because we know
- 57:07Speaker 3: Davis does not want to play the five, so they will.
- 57:10Speaker 2: He will save the court with Alex Sad.
- 57:13Speaker 3: And now for the last spot, I think we need
- 57:17Speaker 3: to find someone that will be benched from last season,
- 57:20Speaker 3: so I guess this will be Bill Kulibali who will
- 57:24Speaker 3: be bensed because this starting lineup needs shooting, so I
- 57:28Speaker 3: think they will go with Kiss. So that's something to
- 57:33Speaker 3: watch out that maybe Kulibali doesn't start the next season,
- 57:38Speaker 3: and it will be interesting to see how much Young
- 57:42Speaker 3: and Davis have left on the tank, or if the
- 57:46Speaker 3: Wizards try to use the start of the season to
- 57:49Speaker 3: showcase Davis and then move him for some value as
- 57:54Speaker 3: the season goes on up.
- 57:56Speaker 2: I have a difficult time seeing how this roster can
- 58:00Speaker 2: be competitive.
- 58:01Speaker 3: I had my reservations last season with the trade for
- 58:04Speaker 3: Davis from the start. Remember we had quite a disagreement
- 58:08Speaker 3: with the Craig on the Tradedline podcast we did the
- 58:11Speaker 3: three of us. So we will see who was corrected
- 58:15Speaker 3: with this season. But it's always helped with Anthony Davis.
- 58:18Speaker 3: He can be awesome for ten games and then disappear
- 58:21Speaker 3: for the games with a bang up knee and a
- 58:23Speaker 3: bang dubholder and the bad back or whatever.
- 58:27Speaker 2: So that's that we have to wait and see.
- 58:29Speaker 3: That makes also both Ayton and the books of It's
- 58:33Speaker 3: interesting because they play behind such an injury prone guy,
- 58:38Speaker 3: and if you ignore the fact that Ayton cannot play basketball,
- 58:41Speaker 3: we can Yeah, we have some to watch there.
- 58:45Speaker 2: And also the depth started the four is very empty
- 58:48Speaker 2: behind Davis.
- 58:50Speaker 3: Maybe Chris Mittleton can play some four at the stage
- 58:53Speaker 3: of his career because I don't think he can.
- 58:55Speaker 2: Guard any threes right now. And they have just think
- 59:00Speaker 2: some Panier as well there.
- 59:01Speaker 3: But if Davis goes down, there is a hole there
- 59:05Speaker 3: which can be exploded by some of the bench guys
- 59:09Speaker 3: in the roster. And with More, as you said, it's
- 59:12Speaker 3: very very deep in this rotation. If you don't even
- 59:14Speaker 3: start cooling Bali that started last season, I think with
- 59:18Speaker 3: More is headed for some more.
- 59:19Speaker 2: Dnp's decision as well.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a bummer. I just really liked him coming
- 59:24Speaker 1: out of college. I thought he was a guy who
- 59:26Speaker 1: was underdrafted the Rockets. He was just squeezed out with
- 59:29Speaker 1: the Rockets. But now it just looks like it's not
- 59:32Speaker 1: going to turn out to be a thing. Yeah, and
- 59:34Speaker 1: then Trey Johnson just hanging around here. The thing with
- 59:36Speaker 1: Anthony Davis is Anthony Davis. He is a ten time
- 59:39Speaker 1: All Star, he's five time All NBA. He's an absolute superstar.
- 59:45Speaker 1: But so you would think this is the type of
- 59:47Speaker 1: thing in another sport, who they would it would be
- 59:50Speaker 1: like a deadline acquisition. This is the guy that's going
- 59:52Speaker 1: to put us over the top. But in basketball, he's
- 59:55Speaker 1: also got a fifty eight million dollar contract, and everybody
- 59:58Speaker 1: knows he's going to get hurt at some point, so
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: you can't just he's just got to sit there. He's
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: got one more year on this contract, then he's got
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: a player option. I don't know, you just take the
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: sixty two million, or do you decide at thirty five
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: years old that maybe somehow you're going to get a
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: bigger count. He's not going to get a bigger contract.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Now take the sixty yes, yeah, longer, maybe bigger though,
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: I guess. I remember last season after the trade to Dallas,
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: I stayed up and watched his first game in Dallas,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: and we got the full Anthony Davis experience. He started
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: the first quarter awesome. I think he put twelve or
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: fifteen points. He was blocking sof he was getting a
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: rebounds it simply because still that they got for down seats.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: And then at the second quarter he hurt his foot
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: never returned, and that's the Anthony Davis experience.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: It's everything packed in a single game as the drama, everything.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, yeah, how I've never I'm sure this
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: has been the subject of a thousand thing pieces. But
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: if you were a d and you were traded to Dallas,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: and all of Dallas was incredibly pissed off at the trade, furious,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: like chanting fire and Nico apparently chanting it at hockey games,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: not just at basketball games. They were chanting fire Nico
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: at other sports games. It was that bad until they
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: actually did fire Nico, and the owner was like caught
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: off guard that I didn't realize that they hated it
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: this much. How would you feel if you were a
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: d and you were the guy they acquired, and Wow,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: you hate me or you disrespect me so much that
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: you decide that even though I'm the ten time All
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Star and five time All NBA guy and I've got
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: a ring, that I am so bad to you that
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: this whole town is ready to burn over acquiring me.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: He had to hate it there at some point, right,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: and going to DC is a little reclamation, I don't know,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: So there you're seeing a meme with an actor holding
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: some dollar bills and swiping his tears.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Something something like that.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: I think he will get over the fifty something million
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: two reasons to be.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Okay, I think he will be fine.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Psychologic he will be. But this I don't know that
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: he's Kevin Durant sensitive. But I don't know I would
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: be like I'm supposed to be, like playing for fans
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: that like me, and these fans are all so pissed
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: off they trade. I don't know, man, I guess it
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: doesn't matter. You're right, he should be. He's got no problems.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: He's got no problem he and he apparently he waved
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: his fifteen percent trade bonus to go to Washington, so
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: he must have been a little bit incentivized to move
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: on there. Yeah, for sure. Anyway, all right, we've been
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: through all thirty teams now between our two sections, What
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: do you think cost us any any last thoughts on
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: this this off season? Was this a wild one to you?
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Was this a fairly team one to you?
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: What do you think I think was the right amount
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: of wildness?
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: We had to wait Lebron a bit for all the
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: pieces to fall down, but it was an exciting one.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: I read it the seven out of ten, so I'm pleased.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: I'm pleased, and I don't excited for the precision.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think there's still unresolved bits, but I
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: don't think unresolved bits that are going to change the
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: seven out of ten couple of things hanging out there,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: But we're basically through it, so Costas you are a
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: hero for stepping up and doing this once again this year.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: We're getting through all the teams. You've given us some
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: great insights. People need to start thinking, how are these
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: players' values changed by this? To make a few little
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: preseasons trades. Maybe you're coming up on your drafts and
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: you want to be thinking about who could I kind
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: of sneak through here, who people don't quite realize is
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: more valuable to your team than a second round draft
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: pick and the upcoming rookie draft. But I want to ask,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: once again, we talked about it last week, when is
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: the coverage coming back at rasball. You're going to hear
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: this from me constantly now, Yeah.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I think in the next couple of days we will
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: start putting some content there. For sure.
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: We will be on full, full schedule at the start
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: of September, and I'm going to prepare my usual review
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: of last three years projections to see how we did
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: and the world can improve. And then the usual projections
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: for all the players at the midpoint of September approximately,
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: So visit Basketball dograb dot com and to check my
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: pieces and all the other guys business as well.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. Thanks for coming on
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: cost us and going through this, and good luck with
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: rass ball this year. We need to keep up on that.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: Thank you. Jess. Always a pleasure discussing to us, thinking
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: bye bye.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: You've been through it all now, folks, you know what's
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: going on with all of the NBA teams and what's
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: going down over there. In addition, I have a couple
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: other things to let you know. I'd like to thank
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: the boys in this league for hosting and posting these shows.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: I'd like to thank you for rating and reviewing five
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: stars and giving positive reviews some kind words. See what
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: I just did there. If you haven't done that, now
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: you feel guilty that you haven't because you just got thanked.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: So the best thing you can do is just go
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: make it good by posting the thing that I just
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: asked for. And also I appreciate your subscribing to the show.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: It makes a difference. Appreciate those of you who want
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: to continue to interact with me. You can catch me
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: on social media, dy and Sports Life on x or
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: you can get me over on Blue Sky Jesse Severe.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Thanks for listening everybody, and until next time, good luck
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: in all your Dynasty fantasy leagues.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Yah
