- 1:44SPEAKER_08: So Thursday, the Star City Syndicate opened our season.
- 1:47SPEAKER_08: Well, yeah, because I always consider uh Smyrna or Oakfield a a soft opening.
- 1:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_08: So our first like big gig was Riverside.
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: It's like it's like that when you open a restaurant and you only invite friends and family.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 2:01SPEAKER_04: That's what Smyrna's like.
- 2:02SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 2:03SPEAKER_08: So so we our first real gig was was Rockin' on Riverside and huge crowd.
- 2:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it was really big.
- 2:10SPEAKER_08: Really big crowd.
- 2:11SPEAKER_08: Yeah um and I'm we the we only botched really one song.
- 2:17SPEAKER_08: Only one?
- 2:18SPEAKER_08: Well, did we botch more than one?
- 2:20SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 2:20SPEAKER_08: I I know we did get messed up on one, but we we read Yeah, we regroup yeah.
- 2:24SPEAKER_08: We always recreate.
- 2:25SPEAKER_04: We were a little rough, but uh we we we passed it off nicely, I think.
- 2:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I think so.
- 2:29SPEAKER_08: So it'll get better from here on out.
- 2:31SPEAKER_08: It will.
- 2:32SPEAKER_08: So and then you and I had uh graduation party, kind of like a private party to play.
- 2:37SPEAKER_08: Uh Dalhousie University.
- 2:39SPEAKER_08: On Friday night.
- 2:40SPEAKER_04: It was all it was, you know, the whole campus of Dalhousie was there.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: Apparently.
- 2:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:47SPEAKER_04: You you would think that anyway, from all the t-shirts.
- 2:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:50SPEAKER_08: Well, the kid, the the graduate uh has has been accepted and is going to Dalhousie.
- 2:55SPEAKER_08: Where is that?
- 2:55SPEAKER_08: Is it Nova Scotia?
- 2:56SPEAKER_04: Uh Prince Edward, no, maybe it's Nova Scotia.
- 2:59SPEAKER_04: It's in I know it's in News.
- 3:00SPEAKER_04: It's in Canada, yeah.
- 3:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it's on the ocean.
- 3:01SPEAKER_08: Is it somebody in Newfoundland?
- 3:03SPEAKER_08: Is it Newfoundland?
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 3:05SPEAKER_04: Let's let's ask Google.
- 3:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah, because you know we do have the technology.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: Hey Google.
- 3:11SPEAKER_04: Where is Dalhousie University located?
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: I almost think it's Newfoundland.
- 3:16SPEAKER_13: The address for Dalhousie University is 6299 South Street, Halifax, NSB 380.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: Nova Scotia.
- 3:23SPEAKER_08: Nova Scotia.
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: Cool.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: Thank you, Google.
- 3:27SPEAKER_04: You're most helpful.
- 3:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:29SPEAKER_08: So um yeah, we played Friday night and oh, and then Saturday, I played golf.
- 3:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_08: I saw I saw a picture.
- 3:38SPEAKER_08: Not of you actually playing golf.
- 3:39SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 3:39SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 3:40SPEAKER_08: So Jude came up.
- 3:41SPEAKER_08: We had Jude's birthday party Saturday morning.
- 3:43SPEAKER_08: His birthday's actually today.
- 3:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:44SPEAKER_08: Hi birthday, Jude.
- 3:45SPEAKER_08: We're recording on Tuesday.
- 3:46SPEAKER_08: Uh and it's and he's actually 21 today.
- 3:49SPEAKER_17: Twenty-one.
- 3:50SPEAKER_08: And but we but he came up for the weekend, so we celebrated Saturday morning.
- 3:54SPEAKER_08: And then uh Saturday afternoon we went golfing for the first time.
- 3:58SPEAKER_08: Hi he and I, it was our first time ever.
- 4:00SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 4:01SPEAKER_08: And we went with Johnny B and his dad.
- 4:03SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 4:04SPEAKER_08: And um it was fun.
- 4:08SPEAKER_08: We I think we I I enjoyed the company.
- 4:11SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 4:12SPEAKER_08: Um I'm not sure golf is for me, but again, it was my first time.
- 4:17SPEAKER_08: So yeah, yeah.
- 4:18SPEAKER_08: So you get better every time, you know, I would hope.
- 4:20SPEAKER_04: Well, I would assume so.
- 4:22SPEAKER_08: But I'm uh I'm uh I get stressed out pretty easily.
- 4:25SPEAKER_08: So like after the fourth time not even hitting the ball, I get really stressed out.
- 4:32SPEAKER_04: Well that's when you switch to the baseball bat.
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: You'd be like, hey, take that.
- 4:37SPEAKER_08: Well, that's Johnny B was like, this is a happy Gilmore moment.
- 4:43SPEAKER_08: Um so yeah, but it was good.
- 4:45SPEAKER_08: We uh we we had a good time.
- 4:47SPEAKER_08: And let me see, I'm typing this in here.
- 4:51SPEAKER_04: Typing stuff.
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: Seven we're gonna give out Bob's phone number to everybody.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: No, we're not.
- 4:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we are.
- 5:00SPEAKER_04: It's 1-800-BobSocks.
- 5:05SPEAKER_04: That's S-U-K-S.
- 5:08SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 5:08SPEAKER_08: So um, yeah, we're gonna we're gonna have our our buddy Bob on.
- 5:11SPEAKER_08: We're also gonna have um Chris Morton from uh Star City Syndicate and Skinny Elvis on with us.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: And the owner of KMH.
- 5:19SPEAKER_08: And the owner of KMH Music, one of our fine sponsors.
- 5:21SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 5:22SPEAKER_04: Uh I don't know what we're gonna talk about, but we're gonna we're gonna have some fun.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: That doesn't matter.
- 5:26SPEAKER_04: It goes, you know.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: Something will come up at some point.
- 5:29SPEAKER_08: Oh yes.
- 5:30SPEAKER_08: Well, speaking of of of cool things, uh the fun dungeon has been changed around.
- 5:35SPEAKER_08: Do you think do you like it?
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: I do like it.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: It's very uh funny dungeon-y.
- 5:41SPEAKER_04: Funny dungeon-y.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: Funny dungeon-y.
- 5:43SPEAKER_04: Uh that's a new phrase I brought up.
- 5:45SPEAKER_08: I um let's see.
- 5:47SPEAKER_08: So I s I decided because I've been uh trying to clean the basement, but things come up and I get distracted and you know I've done a little bit of work.
- 5:57SPEAKER_08: But this was uh the middle of last week I decided this needs to change.
- 6:02SPEAKER_08: And so I did it and it took me a full day to to do it.
- 6:07SPEAKER_08: It was a large undertaking, but um I like the way it it uh it turned out.
- 6:11SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I've got my keyboards, both my keyboards here for easy access.
- 6:16SPEAKER_08: Nothing is really hooked up yet.
- 6:18SPEAKER_08: No, it's just it's it's moved into place.
- 6:19SPEAKER_08: It's moved into place.
- 6:20SPEAKER_08: And there's more room.
- 6:21SPEAKER_08: It just seems like there's more room here.
- 6:23SPEAKER_08: And I I did there's a there's a box of CDs in my van that are going to charity.
- 6:29SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 6:30SPEAKER_08: So I cleaned out probably another hundred and maybe two hundred CDs.
- 6:35SPEAKER_08: Um not from here.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: No, I noticed there's you know there's not much missing from there.
- 6:40SPEAKER_08: No, there's not much missing from there.
- 6:41SPEAKER_08: Most of the most of the CDs I'm I'm getting rid of are country CDs.
- 6:44SPEAKER_08: Ah.
- 6:45SPEAKER_08: Um not that I don't like them or want them to.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: That's a commentary.
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: I am I don't like country anymore.
- 6:52SPEAKER_08: No, that's not true.
- 6:53SPEAKER_08: I but I'm coming to terms with the fact that I have all these CDs and I don't listen to them.
- 7:02SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 7:02SPEAKER_08: Like if I have a minute to come down here and listen to music, it's usually on iTunes.
- 7:11SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 7:12SPEAKER_08: Or if I really get a minute, I put an album on.
- 7:16SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 7:17SPEAKER_08: Um but I don't listen to them the way I used to.
- 7:21SPEAKER_08: And I have the the ones that I'm getting rid of, I have them in my iTunes.
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 7:26SPEAKER_08: So I just, you know, I would try and sell them, but people don't buy CDs anymore.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: No.
- 7:30SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 7:31SPEAKER_08: Like I I had a I have a box of DVDs.
- 7:33SPEAKER_08: Actually, I should let you look through those.
- 7:34SPEAKER_08: I don't do you have do you have DVDs?
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: I have DVDs, I have Blu-ray.
- 7:39SPEAKER_08: Do you want some?
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: Because it depends on what they are.
- 7:42SPEAKER_08: Because I'm trying I put a thing on um Facebook Marketplace or Cloud Classifies or something like that.
- 7:49SPEAKER_08: Um I have about I think there's probably 75 DVDs that I was trying to sell.
- 7:56SPEAKER_08: I was I have a tot of 75 or so DVDs that I was trying to get uh rid of for like 20 bucks.
- 8:02SPEAKER_08: Um 75 CDs for 20 bucks.
- 8:04SPEAKER_08: DVDs.
- 8:05SPEAKER_08: DVDs.
- 8:06SPEAKER_08: Oh, DVDs.
- 8:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah, 20 bucks.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: The whole box?
- 8:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:09SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 8:09SPEAKER_08: Uh just because I want to get rid of them.
- 8:11SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 8:11SPEAKER_08: But nobody has bit yes.
- 8:13SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 8:13SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:14SPEAKER_08: Interesting.
- 8:14SPEAKER_08: Because I don't you know, I don't think people everybody streams now.
- 8:19SPEAKER_08: They all stream.
- 8:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:21SPEAKER_08: We do too now, by the way.
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, you have you actually have internet.
- 8:24SPEAKER_08: We have broadband internet, I'm excited to say.
- 8:28SPEAKER_08: So um, yeah.
- 8:30SPEAKER_08: Uh we probably won't we won't do any um um well this would but another one to uh tape.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: I know it is the two hundredth.
- 8:39SPEAKER_08: I know, but I did I didn't get the the cameras out.
- 8:41SPEAKER_08: So I know we we did we didn't we're not gonna do we'll do it for the three hundredth promos for this one.
- 8:46SPEAKER_08: But yeah, we are gonna start recording again.
- 8:48SPEAKER_08: Uh and I'll edit those together like I used to and uh Snip and we'll put Speaking of those you had you were going through them some of the promos that we're I spent like three hours last week.
- 8:59SPEAKER_08: If you go on YouTube uh to our page, actually you'll have to type Well actually I did it all off the O'Brien and Doug uh Facebook page.
- 9:09SPEAKER_08: All of them?
- 9:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:11SPEAKER_08: We used to post them on there too.
- 9:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:13SPEAKER_08: Um but if you go to YouTube, uh you'd have to type in O'Brien and Doug Podcast, uh, because that's where you'll find our YouTube page um because we don't have that many followers.
- 9:23SPEAKER_08: Um 53 or subscribers or whatever.
- 9:26SPEAKER_08: But if you type in O'Brien and Doug Podcast, you'll see our page.
- 9:30SPEAKER_08: And um all we used to make promos for all of these episodes, and some of them are pretty friggin' hilarious.
- 9:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:38SPEAKER_08: Um so you went through them this week, this this past week?
- 9:41SPEAKER_08: Is that what you're doing?
- 9:41SPEAKER_04: Well, last night I spent like three hours going through them picking out the ones I thought were really funny.
- 9:46SPEAKER_08: How many did you pick out?
- 9:47SPEAKER_04: Uh well let me let me consult the the book here.
- 9:51SPEAKER_08: Um before we do this, or it's up to you, man.

- 10:14SPEAKER_08: We have twenty-nine promos.
- 10:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 10:16SPEAKER_08: Did you put them in order?
- 10:18SPEAKER_04: Well, they're just like from first season to the most recent one that we had.
- 10:23SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 10:23SPEAKER_08: So all right.
- 10:25SPEAKER_04: So it actually ends in twenty twenty-two, because I think that's when we stopped doing promos.
- 10:29SPEAKER_04: So Yeah, you're probably right.
- 10:31SPEAKER_08: Yep, you're probably right.
- 10:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:33SPEAKER_08: Um, so let's see.
- 10:35SPEAKER_08: I don't want to keep them waiting, but I did tell them about 727 30, something like that.
- 10:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's only a quarter after.
- 10:40SPEAKER_08: So whatever.
- 10:42SPEAKER_08: So let's go through them.
- 10:44SPEAKER_08: Um, what's the first one you'd like to uh you'd like to?
- 10:47SPEAKER_04: Well, do you want to start at the first season or yeah, I think so.
- 10:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:51SPEAKER_04: Well, you'll have to go all the way down to the bottom of the O'Brien and Doug uh page.
- 10:56SPEAKER_17: Let's see.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: On Facebook.
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: No, no, I I don't know if it's on I I don't think it's on YouTube, so don't go there.
- 11:02SPEAKER_08: Oh, did you well did you did you write down the name of the Yeah, I did.
- 11:05SPEAKER_04: I wrote 'em down.
- 11:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so I think Or I I actually I put the date that they were posted on the O'Brien and Doug page, so.
- 11:11SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay, let's see.
- 11:14SPEAKER_08: Um I would have posted them on the same day probably on.
- 11:21SPEAKER_04: Well, some of them were those like sound bites from uh Buzzbrook.
- 11:25SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 11:25SPEAKER_04: So I don't think those are on the YouTube.
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: That's the thing.
- 11:29SPEAKER_04: That's that's why I went off the the Facebook page.
- 11:32SPEAKER_04: I didn't go off YouTube.
- 11:34SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 11:34SPEAKER_08: Well let me just look here.
- 11:35SPEAKER_08: Because do they have did you have did you write down titles?
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: Not really.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: I just wrote reminders of what who was, you know, what was you know whatever.
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: I can't speak.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: Stop asking me questions.
- 11:50SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 11:51SPEAKER_08: Uh let's see, episode five.
- 11:53SPEAKER_08: I have um I have them from the beginning, I think, on YouTube.
- 11:57SPEAKER_04: No, you don't have the one the first ones I have.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: You don't have them there.
- 12:01SPEAKER_08: Alright, well, let's see.
- 12:03SPEAKER_08: Because this might be an undertaking here.
- 12:05SPEAKER_08: So if I go to uh our Facebook page, would they be in photos?
- 12:11SPEAKER_08: Like under videos, probably.
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: I think I just went down the feed.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: That's all I did.
- 12:18SPEAKER_04: Probably what it took me forever, but you know.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: That's what I did.
- 12:21SPEAKER_08: I think they're probably in in in videos.
- 12:24SPEAKER_08: Hold on a second.
- 12:24SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 12:25SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure why, but my internet is acting pretty slow.
- 12:29SPEAKER_08: Actually, I think I know why.
- 12:30SPEAKER_08: Probably because your kids are on it.
- 12:32SPEAKER_08: Because my kids are watching something upstairs.
- 12:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_08: But if I go to our Facebook page and then go to videos, um, all of our promos should be there.
- 12:44SPEAKER_08: Uh season six, episode nine, the teaser.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Mark!
- 12:48SPEAKER_08: That's one of them, actually.
- 12:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah, this is this is slow loading.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: That's okay.
- 12:58SPEAKER_04: We're not going anywhere.
- 12:59SPEAKER_04: It's 200.
- 13:00SPEAKER_04: 200.
- 13:04SPEAKER_04: English is hard today.
- 13:07SPEAKER_08: Some of these are not just promos, though.
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I didn't I didn't count the ones where I was just like rambling.
- 13:13SPEAKER_04: So or you were rambling.
- 13:15SPEAKER_08: I see what you mean by by these were these were different than uh Yeah, you know what I'm talking about?
- 13:20SPEAKER_04: They were like little snippet, like 30-second minute snippets of uh of the show.
- 13:27SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 13:28SPEAKER_08: Season three finale.
- 13:29SPEAKER_08: So we're just we're gonna keep scrolling down here.
- 13:34SPEAKER_08: Um so anyway, two hundred episodes is is uh pretty much a long time.
- 13:40SPEAKER_08: I never thought we'd ever get to two hundred.
- 13:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah, neither did I.
- 13:42SPEAKER_04: So here we are.
- 13:49SPEAKER_08: Thanks for the Michael McDonald book, by the way.
- 13:51SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 13:52SPEAKER_08: I know it's yours still.
- 13:53SPEAKER_08: I'm just I'm gonna read it.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: Well, I know, yeah.
- 13:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:55SPEAKER_08: Thank you for loaning it to me.
- 13:57SPEAKER_04: Not a problem.
- 13:58SPEAKER_08: I'll do I'll do appreciate it.
- 14:00SPEAKER_04: And I'll be able to then I'll be able to return your uh Steve Lukather book.
- 14:04unknown: Right.
- 14:06SPEAKER_08: Oh, there's the promo with uh Joko where Eddie Van Halen passed away.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: So we're getting closer.
- 14:11SPEAKER_08: We're getting closer.
- 14:12SPEAKER_08: So there's so season two.
- 14:13SPEAKER_08: We're on season two now.
- 14:15SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:16SPEAKER_08: And then that's the tour of the fun dungeon.
- 14:18SPEAKER_08: Okay, so O'Brien and Doug's podcast season two, episode one, teaser.
- 14:21SPEAKER_08: No, keep going down.

- 14:25SPEAKER_08: There's more.
- 14:26SPEAKER_08: Episode 18.
- 14:27SPEAKER_08: Then why is episode one there?
- 14:33SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 14:34SPEAKER_08: I forgot that you you you started doing this in your uh in your drum room.
- 14:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:41SPEAKER_08: Okay, so I've got O'Brien and Doug's video, 11 seconds.
- 14:44SPEAKER_08: No, that's not a good one.
- 14:45SPEAKER_08: That's not it.
- 14:45SPEAKER_08: That's what that is.
- 14:46SPEAKER_08: That's a j I think that's a joke.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: There was a there was a there was a clip of us on remember when Anthony had uh had us on his podcast?
- 14:54SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: Is that right there somewhere?
- 14:56SPEAKER_08: Um, it's right there.
- 14:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it's right there.
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: Is that the one you saw?
- 14:59SPEAKER_04: That's the first one I have.
- 15:00SPEAKER_08: That's the first one you have.
- 15:01SPEAKER_08: All right, so we're going to we're gonna check out this promo.
- 15:05SPEAKER_08: Um so this is Anthony Scott, lead singer of the Star City Syndicate, who had his own podcast.
- 15:12SPEAKER_08: I don't know if he still does or not.
- 15:13SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: He hasn't said anything about it.
- 15:14SPEAKER_08: It was during the pandemic.
- 15:15SPEAKER_04: So a lot of people he might actually has a life.
- 15:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah, right.
- 15:21SPEAKER_08: We we on the other hand.
- 15:23SPEAKER_04: We just have nothing.
- 15:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:24SPEAKER_08: So let's see if this plays.
- 15:26SPEAKER_15: Well, um, let's talk about this the songwriting process.
- 15:29SPEAKER_15: We talked about the podcast process of creating the podcast.
- 15:33SPEAKER_15: Um is there any is there any confluence, anything where that process is similar for writing a song, or is it just totally unique for you?
- 15:41SPEAKER_15: Does it totally come from a different place?
- 15:44SPEAKER_04: Hold on, I gotta I gotta Google confluence.
- 15:53SPEAKER_04: There's nothing going on in here, man.
- 16:01SPEAKER_04: There's like a hamster and he like passed out like eight months ago, and he's just kind of laying it, and the wheel's going like this.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: That's basically going on in my head right now.
- 16:11SPEAKER_08: I can hear it.
- 16:19SPEAKER_15: That's the promo.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: So our interview with Anthony Scottko.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: That was a that was a that was actually big that was actually pretty fun being on Anthony's podcast.
- 16:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it was.
- 16:42SPEAKER_08: Um so when you hear the music, if you it's it's better if you see these because you know you see our facial expressions and things, but yeah, but when you hear the music, there's actually words on the screen and promoting the episode.
- 16:52SPEAKER_08: So and the sponsors and all that.
- 16:54SPEAKER_08: So what's the next one?
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: Uh it's it's one with Shane from June 30th of 2020.
- 17:00SPEAKER_08: Okay, I have July 23rd.
- 17:05SPEAKER_08: Uh oh, uh on this week's episode of Brian and Doug chat with Shane Mountain.
- 17:09SPEAKER_08: Okay, that must be that there.
- 17:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it must be that one.
- 17:11SPEAKER_08: Okay, let's check this one out.
- 17:12SPEAKER_08: Um, see, I used to have I th I I thought these promos were fun.
- 17:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they were they were fun to do.
- 17:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was our desert island.
- 17:34SPEAKER_04: We were talking about desert island.
- 17:36SPEAKER_08: I picture you guys alone on a desert island listening to Pantera.
- 17:42SPEAKER_08: Just like a full voice.
- 17:44SPEAKER_04: I'd be like, I'd be like headbutting like palm trees.
- 17:53SPEAKER_08: Jeff Neely Band, see the light is the uh album of the day for the climbing wall.
- 17:59SPEAKER_08: It also has a very similar title to RDP record, right?
- 18:04SPEAKER_08: The light of the day.
- 18:05SPEAKER_08: It's all connected.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: I just I just think Jeff Healy's is more ironic.
- 18:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 18:26SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we had a good time.
- 18:27SPEAKER_08: You are definitely the um comic foil of this uh of this podcast, for sure.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: The go to the very next one over there with the the heads of Slayer on the striper.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 18:38SPEAKER_04: Remember that whole thing?
- 18:38SPEAKER_04: Oh, yes.
- 18:39SPEAKER_04: I went I went off for like ever on this Slayer Striper uh uh tour.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: It was a fantastic idea.
- 18:47SPEAKER_04: It really is.
- 18:48SPEAKER_04: And it's still I think it still could work.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: I'll be honest with you.
- 18:51SPEAKER_08: I think you're right.
- 18:52SPEAKER_08: Um I have clicked on it, I I promise.
- 18:55SPEAKER_08: Uh it's just the internet is uh internet is super slow.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: Not really sure why.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: Well, because people are using it.
- 19:02SPEAKER_08: You're probably right.
- 19:03SPEAKER_08: You're probably right.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: People are using the internet.
- 19:09SPEAKER_08: Uh I've clicked it.
- 19:10SPEAKER_08: Oh, there we go.
- 19:11SPEAKER_04: There it comes.
- 19:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was just I could not get rid of this idea.
- 19:23SPEAKER_18: You got your striper and you got slayer.
- 19:28SPEAKER_18: I would be like, don't see an edge show, man.
- 19:30SPEAKER_18: I got I got that image of striper and slayer on board together.
- 19:35SPEAKER_18: That's just like blowing my mind right now.
- 19:37SPEAKER_18: And that would be just like and I'm still tripping on that Slayer Sniper.
- 19:46SPEAKER_04: If we had that for Hot Money, that's what we would do.
- 19:51SPEAKER_06: Take Slayer out of time if it was.
- 19:54SPEAKER_18: We take Slayer out of the time of it.
- 19:55SPEAKER_18: We put Sniper one up at my door.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: Okay, that's gonna be.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: It's gonna work, man.
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: It's gonna make you a lot more money.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: We're talking about it.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: Okay, it's fine, it's sniper.
- 20:32SPEAKER_18: Debbie Gibson and Tiffany!
- 20:41SPEAKER_04: And then at the end of the tour, they uh they sacrificed Debbie Gibson and Tiffany as well.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: I'm surprised nobody else thought of that.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: That was I couldn't I think I went on for like half the episode.
- 20:56SPEAKER_08: I think you didn't bring an idea, man.
- 20:58SPEAKER_08: I think you did.
- 20:58SPEAKER_08: It was great.
- 20:59SPEAKER_08: Let's we'll come back to this.
- 21:00SPEAKER_08: Let's uh let's see if we can get these guys over here.
- 21:03SPEAKER_08: Um I'm gonna send an invite to see if uh if they can uh if they can both join us at the same time.
- 21:11SPEAKER_08: That would be cool.
- 21:12SPEAKER_04: Oh that would be wonderful, wouldn't it though?
- 21:14SPEAKER_04: It would just be super fantastic.
- 21:16SPEAKER_04: Oh, look at that.
- 21:17SPEAKER_04: There's like two boxes, so you listen to the O'Brien and Doug 200th episode?
- 21:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, all they did was go whoop.
- 21:33SPEAKER_04: Well, so far, so good.
- 21:35SPEAKER_04: So far, well it says in invite sent.
- 21:37SPEAKER_08: I'm just uh checking to see if uh anybody anybody bites.
- 21:41SPEAKER_08: Anybody picks up.
- 21:42SPEAKER_04: It's like it's like fishing.
- 21:43SPEAKER_04: You know, you just put you put the bait out there.
- 21:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:45SPEAKER_04: And you just see, you know, see if we can hook us a bass.
- 21:50SPEAKER_08: Um So we're gonna go back to those promos because I want to hear I want to listen to some more of those promos.
- 21:56SPEAKER_08: Um but I did want to ask if you've heard the new Deaf Leopard song yet.

- 23:26SPEAKER_04: We're not going anywhere.
- 23:27SPEAKER_04: Hey, this is fun watching Bob walk from his car to his house.
- 23:32SPEAKER_04: How come I got a video of you guys?
- 23:34SPEAKER_04: Wow.

- 23:56SPEAKER_08: Now you're dark.
- 23:58SPEAKER_08: Can you see us now?
- 23:59SPEAKER_08: Is that what you said?
- 24:01SPEAKER_05: How's that?
- 24:02SPEAKER_05: Oh, look at that.
- 24:03SPEAKER_05: Hello.
- 24:03SPEAKER_08: Oh, let's see.
- 24:05SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 24:05SPEAKER_08: I would like to.
- 24:08SPEAKER_11: Basically, I can't now.
- 24:10SPEAKER_11: But you're from uh you're sort of like uh copy a dome is uh not present.
- 24:15SPEAKER_08: Why why can't I let's see?
- 24:17SPEAKER_08: I've got FaceTime audio.
- 24:19SPEAKER_08: Morton, can you hear us?
- 24:21SPEAKER_08: I can.
- 24:22SPEAKER_08: Can you guys hear me?
- 24:23SPEAKER_08: Hey, look at this.
- 24:23SPEAKER_08: Hey, look at that! Wow! Technology works! So we've got, just so you just so you know, uh we've got two Chris's on the line.
- 24:31SPEAKER_08: So we have Chris Morton, um, owner of KMH Music and uh drummer extraordinaire, and we have our best friend Chris Lawrence, uh better known as Bob, on the line.
- 24:41SPEAKER_08: Do you guys know each other?
- 24:42SPEAKER_08: Probably not.
- 24:43SPEAKER_11: No, I don't think we've met I don't think we've met in person.
- 24:48SPEAKER_12: Well Bob, this is Chris, and Chris, this is Bob.
- 24:54SPEAKER_12: So there are now three Chris's?
- 24:56SPEAKER_12: There are, yes, well, yes.
- 24:57SPEAKER_12: There's technically.
- 24:59SPEAKER_08: And if I use my real name or my radio name, Chris O'Brien, there's four, we're all Chris's.
- 25:03SPEAKER_08: It's the Chris Podcaster.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: All Chris all the time.
- 25:10SPEAKER_12: Conspiracy the whole time.
- 25:15SPEAKER_08: So we uh it's a good thing we actually, hey, there he is.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Hey, there he is!
- 25:20SPEAKER_08: Hey! We um we want to thank you guys for joining us for our 200th episode, 200 episodes of O'Brien and Doug.
- 25:29SPEAKER_11: That is an amazing waste of time.
- 25:32SPEAKER_11: Congratulations, guys.
- 25:35SPEAKER_12: Yeah, I have a question for you guys.
- 25:37SPEAKER_12: So if Bob and I are here, then who's left to listen to the podcast?
- 25:45SPEAKER_08: I knew this was gonna be great.
- 25:46SPEAKER_08: Oh, I know it's having both of these guys on at the same time.
- 25:49SPEAKER_18: Total gold, man.
- 25:52SPEAKER_08: So um we started out the podcast.
- 25:54SPEAKER_08: We we've already been talking here for a little while, and we started out the podcast talking about the Star City Syndicate show on Thursday.
- 26:01SPEAKER_08: Uh just want to get your thoughts, Mr.
- 26:03SPEAKER_08: Morton.
- 26:07unknown: Oh.
- 26:09SPEAKER_12: Uh it was an uphill battle, literally, on account of the stage wasn't level.
- 26:13SPEAKER_12: So yes, this is true.
- 26:15SPEAKER_12: Um, yeah, uh for me it was fun.
- 26:19SPEAKER_12: The stage was wobbling back and forth, so so were my symbols.
- 26:23SPEAKER_12: So you had to kind of like dead reckon where they're gonna end up when uh when you tried to land on the beat, you know.
- 26:29SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 26:30SPEAKER_12: Take your best guesstimate where you thought the symbol was gonna be.
- 26:32SPEAKER_12: So that was kind of fun.
- 26:33SPEAKER_04: But you never thought you'd have to use control.
- 26:36SPEAKER_04: Awesome crowd.
- 26:36SPEAKER_04: Kentucky windage to get your you know, uh symbols.
- 26:39SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 26:40SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 26:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it was a great crowd.
- 26:44SPEAKER_08: No, that's fair.
- 26:45SPEAKER_12: And I think that even if Go ahead.
- 26:51SPEAKER_12: Oh no, I'm just I'm glad that they had it chalked well enough that we didn't roll into the river.
- 26:56SPEAKER_08: It was kind of a strange stage, but any stage that uh the syndicate plays on, we kind of have to make our own because there's so friggin' many of us, it's ridiculous.
- 27:06SPEAKER_11: Yeah, you guys are like what uh 39-piece band?
- 27:10SPEAKER_08: 39 Not yet.
- 27:12SPEAKER_08: Not yet.
- 27:13SPEAKER_04: Someday soon.
- 27:14SPEAKER_08: Nineteen.
- 27:15SPEAKER_08: Nineteen.
- 27:16SPEAKER_08: Well, actually, I say I say 19.
- 27:19SPEAKER_08: And and I Morton, I heard you say recently we had like 21 or something like that.
- 27:24SPEAKER_08: Is that true?
- 27:27SPEAKER_12: 21.
- 27:28SPEAKER_12: Uh, when you count OJ, and you should, because OJ's awesome.
- 27:31SPEAKER_12: OJ's the logistics facilitator.
- 27:33SPEAKER_12: I don't know, he has a new name every uh every show, but OJ's the guy that makes the band play.
- 27:38SPEAKER_12: He handles setup um and troubleshoot things, and he just he's the quiet fixer of the band.
- 27:43SPEAKER_12: He's number 21, I think.
- 27:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so you were including Jasmine in there as well.
- 27:48SPEAKER_08: Uh so on stage we have at least 19 Yes.
- 27:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: But sometimes we just get round people once we have to go.
- 28:00SPEAKER_08: Well, I don't know if we're we're we have RTA.
- 28:05SPEAKER_08: We don't have a very good signal.
- 28:07SPEAKER_08: Um we're you're in and out, my friend.
- 28:11SPEAKER_08: Can you see me?
- 28:13SPEAKER_08: Can you see me now?
- 28:14SPEAKER_14: Oh sorry.
- 28:20SPEAKER_05: I'm only half there.
- 28:24SPEAKER_04: It kind of reminds me when they were talking to uh Neil Armstrong when he was on the moon.
- 28:31SPEAKER_02: Oh, now we lost you.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, he's gone.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: He's gone.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: He's a forget this.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: I've had enough.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: I don't want to be on your stupid podcast anyway.
- 28:38SPEAKER_08: Oh, wait, maybe he wait, maybe he's still there.
- 28:40SPEAKER_08: He just we can't see him.
- 28:42SPEAKER_12: I'm still here uh mostly, I think.
- 28:44SPEAKER_12: Uh is it better now?
- 28:45SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it is better.
- 28:47SPEAKER_12: Probably be a lot easier.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, cool.
- 28:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 28:49SPEAKER_08: Bob, can you do that?
- 28:50SPEAKER_12: He throws my phone off.
- 28:51SPEAKER_08: Bob, can you do that too so we don't see your your mug, your ugly mug?
- 28:54SPEAKER_11: Uh what do you want me to do?
- 28:58SPEAKER_08: I'm just kidding.
- 28:59SPEAKER_11: I'm just kidding.
- 29:02SPEAKER_08: Your signal seems to be okay.
- 29:04SPEAKER_08: So so I can we can we can I could stare at you all day.
- 29:07SPEAKER_08: Well so so anyway, I know Bob, you had reached out to us uh, and actually Chris Morton, you'll you'll appreciate this too, because we actually play some Collective Soul in uh Skinny Elvis.
- 29:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:26SPEAKER_08: So Bob, you have you just went to see Hootie and the Blowfish and Collective Soul.
- 29:30SPEAKER_11: Was there anybody else just Collective Soul and Hootie and the Blowfish?
- 29:35SPEAKER_08: What?
- 29:36SPEAKER_11: I went to see Collective Soul and Hootie and the Blowfish.
- 29:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but didn't Collective Soul open?
- 29:42SPEAKER_11: Yeah, but I went to see Collective Soul first.
- 29:47SPEAKER_08: You gotta have that distinction.
- 29:49SPEAKER_08: Gotcha.
- 29:50SPEAKER_08: Were they I have to ask you this, were they the better band?
- 29:54SPEAKER_11: I okay, so uh Hootie had a far better production, stage, lights, um, all that sort of jazz.
- 30:02SPEAKER_11: But I think Collective Soul had far more energy.
- 30:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 30:07SPEAKER_11: Um and uh just I don't know.
- 30:10SPEAKER_11: I I mean I I'm a rocker anyway, so I really appreciate kind of those really hard, edgy riffs.
- 30:16SPEAKER_11: Yep.
- 30:17SPEAKER_11: Um which Hootie doesn't really have.
- 30:20SPEAKER_11: Ed Roland is 62, and that guy was dancing all over the stage.
- 30:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 30:25SPEAKER_11: Yeah, he came out actually in a yellow and black checkered suit, which was really, really loud, and an enormous black top felt hat.
- 30:34SPEAKER_11: Um and somehow, somehow that hat migrated to Hootie, and the drummer for Hootie was wearing it uh at about a third of the way through their set.
- 30:43SPEAKER_11: Nice.
- 30:44SPEAKER_11: Um But no, they were they were fantastic.
- 30:47SPEAKER_11: They played a couple songs from their new album.
- 30:49SPEAKER_11: They only did about nine songs, uh, but they was it was all yeah, it was all just great.
- 30:55SPEAKER_11: And they did uh they did a Dirty Deeds Done Dirty.
- 30:59SPEAKER_11: Oh wow.
- 30:59SPEAKER_11: With Edwin McCain.
- 31:01SPEAKER_08: Oh wow.
- 31:02SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 31:02SPEAKER_08: So that was really cool.
- 31:04SPEAKER_08: Um you sent some vi you sent me some videos of Hootie, and I couldn't help but commenting that boy, uh and and it could just be on video, but Darius seemed way off pitch.
- 31:15SPEAKER_11: I I don't know.
- 31:16SPEAKER_11: See, I th I think because I I saw this with Collective Soul too.
- 31:18SPEAKER_11: I I really think that the audio mic was way too loud.
- 31:22SPEAKER_11: Like, like there were times that the vocals drowned out everything else in the band could do.
- 31:27SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 31:28SPEAKER_11: On both on both of them.
- 31:29SPEAKER_11: Um to the point that it, you know, like you know, it actually hurt my ears.
- 31:32SPEAKER_11: There were times I'd almost be covering my ears because the vocals were too loud.
- 31:35SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 31:36SPEAKER_11: Um but uh the cool thing, I got a really cool story about Hootie that you probably already know this because you seem to know everything about everything.
- 31:43SPEAKER_11: Um but they were talking about when when they hired the current drummer for the band.
- 31:47SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 31:47SPEAKER_11: And uh Hootie or Hootie, yeah, okay.
- 31:50SPEAKER_11: Hootie.
- 31:51SPEAKER_11: Uh I can't remember what the guy's name is.
- 31:53SPEAKER_11: Sony.
- 31:53SPEAKER_11: Sony, yeah.
- 31:54SPEAKER_11: So they you know, and at first I I think he was just making light, but Darius was saying that he, you know, didn't really want Sony in the band.
- 32:02SPEAKER_11: To which point Sony behind him uh flipped him the bird and flexed a muscle.
- 32:06SPEAKER_11: Um but anyway, uh when you know they finally played with him and and and led him into the band, and they're talking like, yeah, we're gonna make lots of songs and and all this great stuff.
- 32:18SPEAKER_11: And Sony's got well, I I've got a song too that I wrote.
- 32:22SPEAKER_11: So Darius is like, you know, sort of got that let's humor the guy, he's in the band now.
- 32:28SPEAKER_11: And then he started and then he started to play the song that Sony wrote.
- 32:32SPEAKER_08: Which was which was Hold My Hand?
- 32:34SPEAKER_11: Hold My Hand.
- 32:36SPEAKER_11: That was a really cool moment.
- 32:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:40SPEAKER_11: Um you knew that already, right?
- 32:43SPEAKER_08: I did, yes.
- 32:44SPEAKER_11: You freaking jerk.
- 32:49SPEAKER_08: Um, I was gonna ask you, because you had mentioned that you watched Ed Roland on uh Rick Biotto interview.
- 32:55SPEAKER_11: Yeah, that's a never watched one of his shows.
- 32:57SPEAKER_08: I have not seen that interview.
- 32:59SPEAKER_08: Um what was your impression of that?
- 33:01SPEAKER_11: Uh I knew nothing about Ed Roland other than like his stage persona, so I I sort of had my own image of what he was like, and he is just the most relaxed, chill guy.
- 33:12SPEAKER_11: And I I don't want to give anything away because he there's so much stuff he talks about in that.
- 33:16SPEAKER_11: Um but a lot of great uh his process to writing a song, uh some great stories about you know the recorded in Elvis' um mansion, studio, I'm not sure.
- 33:30SPEAKER_11: Um and uh yeah, they were like I didn't realize they were the first bands to go uh independent.
- 33:38SPEAKER_08: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 33:39SPEAKER_11: Yeah, or at least one of them, and he said that when they left Atlantic, nobody would touch them.
- 33:44SPEAKER_11: They were like a pariah, and even though they had already been hugely successful, nobody was willing to take a chance on them.
- 33:51SPEAKER_11: He was like, my phone never rang for months.
- 33:54SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 33:54SPEAKER_08: So when when did they go independent?
- 33:57SPEAKER_08: Do you remember which album was their first independent album?
- 34:01SPEAKER_11: I do not, but it was it was in 19 the 19 uh 1990s.
- 34:07SPEAKER_11: The 1900s, it was back in the Yeah, I was gonna say the 1900s, I was.
- 34:11SPEAKER_11: Last century.
- 34:13SPEAKER_08: So so you'll be happy to know that in our band Skinny Elvis, uh, Mr.
- 34:19SPEAKER_08: Morton, we do um a couple of um collective soul songs, right?
- 34:25SPEAKER_08: Well, we we we've really only done one, but I I think on the seven was no, actually two.
- 34:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we have gel and we have uh heavy.
- 34:34SPEAKER_08: Right, and I think we have Shine, but we haven't done it.
- 34:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:39SPEAKER_04: Shine's on the list.
- 34:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so we've so we've got three collective soul songs in that set.
- 34:44SPEAKER_08: So actually, Bob, I think you would like uh Skinny Elvis.
- 34:49SPEAKER_11: Yeah, so is it like a 90s grunge?
- 34:51SPEAKER_08: It is.
- 34:52SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah, I would definitely love that.
- 34:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah, Morton, can you can you fill Bob in?
- 34:57SPEAKER_08: Fill Bob in, Morton, about uh the some of the songs that we're doing for Skinny Elvis.
- 35:01SPEAKER_12: Oh no.
- 35:02SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 35:05SPEAKER_12: So uh full disclosure, the first rehearsal that we get, weren't we gonna be a country band?
- 35:11SPEAKER_08: We we we still have designs on that, yes.
- 35:15SPEAKER_12: We get together and we had a list of country songs we're gonna do, and then Doug's like, we I don't know, I don't remember what came first, but I want to say it was Beastie Boys.
- 35:23SPEAKER_12: Like, we should do some Beastie Boys.
- 35:24SPEAKER_12: What you mean this one?
- 35:25SPEAKER_12: And then we just started noodling around, and all of a sudden we knew a Beastie Boys song, so then it was what about if we did Bare Naked Ladies?
- 35:31SPEAKER_12: Oh, I don't know any Bare Naked Ladies, and then we started making our way through the song, and it turned out we knew a bare naked ladies song, and it's been that nothing but that.
- 35:39SPEAKER_12: So red hot chili peppers.
- 35:41SPEAKER_12: Um yeah, oh that's awesome.
- 35:43SPEAKER_08: We do lit, um my own worst enemy.
- 35:47SPEAKER_08: We do like I mentioned, Collective Soul, um, Stone Temple Pilots.
- 35:52SPEAKER_11: Uh which song by which song by yesterday?
- 35:54SPEAKER_08: We do Interstate Love Song and we do sex type thing.
- 35:57SPEAKER_08: Oh, nice.
- 35:57SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 35:58SPEAKER_12: And our first gig was at an elementary school where there were a bunch of kids dancing around us, so we decided to leave that one off the satellite.
- 36:05SPEAKER_04: Hard to explain that title, though, you know.
- 36:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:09SPEAKER_08: We do have one gig coming up this summer.
- 36:11SPEAKER_08: Hopefully we'll get some more, but uh um, yeah, we're we're excited just to I it's almost like it's uh you know, I get excited about it because I know when we get up there people are going to have expectations uh because they see us with the Star City Syndicate.
- 36:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:28SPEAKER_04: And we're just gonna be like We're just gonna destroy those expectations.
- 36:32SPEAKER_04: I mean, just like you know, just like shoot them in the face with a shotgun, you know, kick kick dirt on them, you know, burn the house down around them, kind of expectations.
- 36:43SPEAKER_08: I know we're gonna get some Star City Syndicate fans in the audience, they're gonna look at you and I, they're gonna go like, what are you doing?
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: We're gonna be like, we're doing good socks.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah what were you expecting?
- 36:55SPEAKER_04: The temptation?
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: Nope, not in this one.
- 37:00SPEAKER_12: We're diverse.
- 37:04SPEAKER_12: Sometimes on purpose, even yeah, yeah, right.
- 37:10SPEAKER_08: So let's see.
- 37:12SPEAKER_08: Um Bob.
- 37:15SPEAKER_08: Tell Morton how you know us.
- 37:19SPEAKER_11: How I know you guys?
- 37:20SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 37:21SPEAKER_11: Good gosh.
- 37:23SPEAKER_11: Um okay, well, I first met Brian.
- 37:27SPEAKER_11: I think we were both like four years old.
- 37:29SPEAKER_08: Something like that, yeah.
- 37:30SPEAKER_11: Yeah, and so we both had members of the family that were working at I can't even remember what the place was called.
- 37:38SPEAKER_08: OTC.
- 37:39SPEAKER_11: OTC.
- 37:41SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah.
- 37:42SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 37:42SPEAKER_11: So we would end up there.
- 37:44SPEAKER_11: We didn't know that we knew each other because I didn't meet Brian again until sixth grade.
- 37:49SPEAKER_11: But in the meantime, I met Doug.
- 37:51SPEAKER_11: I think I was in fourth and you were in sixth young.
- 37:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that sounds about right.
- 37:56SPEAKER_04: Because you were dating my cousin.
- 37:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and you didn't like me.
- 38:01SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 38:01SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 38:01SPEAKER_11: And I needed to beat you up, even though you were like even though I was twice your size.
- 38:11SPEAKER_11: Uh so then Brian and I remet again in sixth grade, not knowing that we had already known each other as kids until our our family members told us that we had played together.
- 38:21SPEAKER_11: And then uh so sixth grade, we spent all the time running around the field.
- 38:28SPEAKER_11: Well, we we spent all the time, I spent all the time riding Brian's tailwind as he was chased by girls all over the all over the field.
- 38:36SPEAKER_11: Kind of kind of you know, hoping that a girl will trip and fall and I guess sort of sloppy seconds.
- 38:40SPEAKER_08: That was that was a that was a new kid in town thing.
- 38:45SPEAKER_08: It was, yeah.
- 38:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:46SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 38:48SPEAKER_11: And then so Doug and I ended up doing karate together for centuries.
- 38:54SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 38:54SPEAKER_11: Many, many years.
- 38:55SPEAKER_11: Yeah, many, many years.
- 38:56SPEAKER_11: And then your dad and my dad also were good friends.
- 38:59SPEAKER_11: So we started going like hanging out together, going on trips.
- 39:04SPEAKER_11: And then so I think Brian, you met Doug through me, right?
- 39:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah, because I used to come watch karate.
- 39:11SPEAKER_11: Oh, that's right.
- 39:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah, and we used to we used to go out to eat, like at Riverside.
- 39:16SPEAKER_08: That's right.
- 39:16SPEAKER_11: We used to go there and yeah, we'd go.
- 39:18SPEAKER_11: That's right.
- 39:19SPEAKER_11: I remember it because you always would basically if you want a really disturbing visual, Chris, uh picture like an oyster being shucked uh and and and the inside sucked out, except instead of an oyster, it's a apple jelly container from a restaurant.
- 39:36SPEAKER_11: You like this disposable ones.
- 39:41SPEAKER_11: Brian would basically peel back, peel back the top, and you hear this sound.
- 39:48SPEAKER_11: As he would basically shotgun a uh uh jelly.
- 39:52SPEAKER_11: I'm not sure what your preferred flavor was.
- 39:54SPEAKER_08: Oh, I had oh strawberry.
- 39:57SPEAKER_04: I thought it was just whatever was on top.
- 40:00SPEAKER_12: Heard of jello shots, but jelly shells.
- 40:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's what it was.
- 40:04SPEAKER_12: Yeah, jelly shots.
- 40:05unknown: Yep.
- 40:07SPEAKER_08: And so yeah, I just I just hung out with these guys and we became real real good buds, and we used to I'd we'd go out to uh Doug's house and and play war and stuff like that in the woods and never go to bed.
- 40:18SPEAKER_08: Never go to bed.
- 40:19SPEAKER_08: Never go to bed, yeah.
- 40:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:21SPEAKER_08: No.
- 40:22SPEAKER_08: Uh and and we've been we've been best buds ever since.
- 40:25SPEAKER_08: So I wondered.
- 40:27SPEAKER_12: I've always heard of the legend of Bob and Doug Mackenzie.
- 40:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 40:32SPEAKER_08: That's right.
- 40:32SPEAKER_08: You do know the story of how they got their name.
- 40:34SPEAKER_04: Yes, yes.
- 40:36SPEAKER_04: Heard rumors.
- 40:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:38SPEAKER_04: They're all true.
- 40:39SPEAKER_08: So, so I th I don't know.
- 40:41SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure if we have told uh Bob about how uh you met us, uh, Chris.
- 40:48SPEAKER_08: So why don't you go ahead and and and fill us in there?
- 40:51SPEAKER_08: I don't remember how I met you guys.
- 40:55SPEAKER_04: I don't remember trying to forget it.
- 40:58SPEAKER_04: He's going to therapy, all right?
- 41:00SPEAKER_04: Do not dredge that up.
- 41:02SPEAKER_08: To be honest, I don't remember how you met Doug, but I remember how I met you.
- 41:06SPEAKER_08: It was Aroustic Music.
- 41:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah, well, that makes sense, actually.
- 41:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah, because you were down on State Street.
- 41:12SPEAKER_12: Yeah, wow, State Street location.
- 41:14SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it was like 2001 to 2003, I think, something like that.
- 41:18SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 41:19SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so I bought a guitar in there, I remember, and and just kind of I would I would frequent there as much as possible, and and you were always very what's that?
- 41:30SPEAKER_12: Which we appreciated.
- 41:33SPEAKER_08: But yeah, we got we got friendly that way, and I we didn't we weren't that friendly.
- 41:38SPEAKER_08: I mean we knew each other, but I guess I don't know what the the the the point at which we kind of became real good friends.
- 41:47SPEAKER_08: And I remember uh Mark asked us to play, but I think we knew each other pretty well before that.
- 41:53SPEAKER_12: Yeah, we were kind of musical, I don't know, musical mercenaries is a coin uh phrase a friend of mine coin that I I like a lot, where we wind up in pickup bands all the time, you know, like yeah backing up our shaw or somebody else.
- 42:04SPEAKER_12: So we played either with each other or adjacent to each other, like you sat in with Wally in the Virginian, and I was their drummer for two minutes.
- 42:12SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 42:12SPEAKER_12: Um, and you did the dogs thing, and I wanted to be their drummer for two minutes, and right there's a lot of that going on.
- 42:19SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 42:19SPEAKER_12: Um, but then it was the syndicate, I think, that kind of locked it in.
- 42:22SPEAKER_12: That's when it's funny because I feel like I've known you guys my entire life, obviously, but uh it's funny to think that first rehearsal at the syndicate, I didn't even know you guys that well.
- 42:31SPEAKER_12: Um and now it I don't know, it feels like it's easy to say we're the heart of the syndicate, but I I think because there's that core group on stage where it's me and you, um you the corporal, you like you and Doug, you know.
- 42:46SPEAKER_14: Yeah, right.
- 42:46SPEAKER_12: Um and John and Joel and Anthony, where the six of us are just kind of we're in the center of the battle, I guess, so we're kind of tight.
- 42:55SPEAKER_12: Right.
- 42:56SPEAKER_12: Um, it's funny to think that that didn't always exist because we're we're pretty tight.
- 43:00SPEAKER_12: But I think it was the syndicate that kind of cemented it.
- 43:02SPEAKER_12: That suffering through the fires of horrible shows like Dan Forth, not the name dropper.
- 43:07SPEAKER_08: Oh man.
- 43:08SPEAKER_08: Oh man.
- 43:09SPEAKER_08: How did we how did Doug get in there?
- 43:12SPEAKER_12: So that's the funny thing.
- 43:14SPEAKER_12: Um, I remember being uh very confused.
- 43:17SPEAKER_12: You had said that if we're gonna put together a Motown, I'd wound up talking to you about, hey, we should get everybody together in the same room and see if we can make anything uh happen.
- 43:24SPEAKER_12: Like maybe if we get everybody together, we can survive two songs and woo-hoo, we'll see what happens.
- 43:30SPEAKER_12: Um, if we can meld a horn section into these musical mercenaries who've only ever played guitar and like can't read music in in my case, anyway.
- 43:39SPEAKER_12: Um, and you said if we're doing Motown, we need Doug.
- 43:41SPEAKER_12: And I went, Oh, okay, because I'm a drummer and Doug's a drummer, and I didn't know how that was gonna work.
- 43:45SPEAKER_12: Like, are we doing an Allman Brothers thing, or is it like a tag team?
- 43:48SPEAKER_12: Do we flip a coin?
- 43:50SPEAKER_12: You know.
- 43:50SPEAKER_12: Um, and I remember it was funny that first uh rehearsal was so awkward.
- 43:54SPEAKER_12: The horns sat down, nobody knew anybody, like everybody's doing the introduction.
- 44:00SPEAKER_12: And uh uh I remember I had a set of I think it was no it was congas.
- 44:05SPEAKER_12: Um so the first song Doug played the drums and I played congas, and I don't play kongas.
- 44:10SPEAKER_12: I remember that.
- 44:11SPEAKER_12: So yeah, uh we survived it and then we switched, like we decided to trade places, and Doug was all over.
- 44:17SPEAKER_12: I think it was Soul Man that we were playing it on.
- 44:19SPEAKER_12: We look over and Doug's just he's got like shoulder motion going, you know, like all of a sudden people are dancing and singing is crazy, you know.
- 44:29SPEAKER_12: It was almost a conga line in the horn section.
- 44:31SPEAKER_12: So we finish and um we went, Doug, how long have you played congas?
- 44:35SPEAKER_12: And he goes, uh, about three minutes and 20 seconds.
- 44:41SPEAKER_12: And from that point on, it was okay, but Doug has a place in the band.
- 44:45SPEAKER_12: We don't know what the place is gonna be, but Doug has a place in the band.
- 44:48SPEAKER_12: And Doug is the heart of the band.
- 44:50SPEAKER_08: The heart, absolutely, yeah, no question.
- 44:52SPEAKER_08: No question.
- 44:53SPEAKER_08: That's that's who people come to see, actually, is the Doug.
- 44:56SPEAKER_12: I don't think that's true.
- 44:57SPEAKER_12: No, it is true.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: It is true.
- 44:59SPEAKER_12: Doug is my family's favorite drummer in the band.
- 45:05SPEAKER_12: The only time my dad has ever cheered for a band ever was he was at a syndicate show and he was watching us, and I'm up there playing, you know, his his middle son, and he goes, Go Doug.
- 45:20unknown: Yeah.
- 45:20SPEAKER_04: That was actually one of the clips I wanted to uh revisit.
- 45:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so to explain that.
- 45:25SPEAKER_08: So we used to do um promos for the for the podcast, and they were they were video promos, and we would well actually the ones on Facebook were audio promos.
- 45:34SPEAKER_04: Well, some some were, some were video.
- 45:36SPEAKER_08: Some were yeah, but on our YouTube page, which we haven't updated uh in a long time, there's uh some there's actually some full podcasts uh video.
- 45:46SPEAKER_08: Um and there's we used to do we used to do like th 30 second or maybe even a minute long promo of that week's episode.
- 45:55SPEAKER_08: And before we got on with you guys, we were listening to some of Doug's favorite ones, and we're gonna get back to that here in in a little while.
- 46:02SPEAKER_08: But um we're gonna try and get back to that now that I have high speed internet out here.
- 46:08SPEAKER_05: Oh, right.
- 46:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:09SPEAKER_08: So we I have I have broadband internet now, so uh and it's unmetered, which means it doesn't slow down after a hundred gig, and my kids are on it all the time, and so I don't have to worry about it anymore.
- 46:23SPEAKER_08: So hopefully we'll we'll get back to we're we didn't we should have filmed this one because it is episode 200, but we we didn't film I'm just gonna say we're gonna wait, we're gonna save it out for 300.
- 46:34SPEAKER_11: So we're gonna be that'll be like what three weeks from now, right?
- 46:37SPEAKER_11: Yeah, just roughly.
- 46:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:40SPEAKER_08: So we're gonna we're going to uh start putting those video promos back on YouTube and stuff, so that'll be fun.
- 46:46SPEAKER_08: So um, yeah, and we were talking uh about Bob, you had asked if we'd heard any of Collective Souls' new album.
- 46:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:55SPEAKER_08: And um we just listened to was it three songs?
- 46:58SPEAKER_11: Three or four, yeah.
- 46:59SPEAKER_11: Three or four songs.
- 47:00SPEAKER_11: Which which ones were they?
- 47:00SPEAKER_11: Just out of curiosity.
- 47:01SPEAKER_08: Oh, geez, you would ask that.
- 47:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we have no idea.
- 47:04SPEAKER_08: Uh what one was like not home uh or something.
- 47:08SPEAKER_08: Uh come home or not were any of them rockers?
- 47:13SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 47:13SPEAKER_08: I think well, yeah, I think so.
- 47:15SPEAKER_08: They were mid-tempo, or maybe.
- 47:18SPEAKER_08: I will say this about Collective Soul, and you can you can disagree with me if you want.
- 47:22SPEAKER_08: Um A, let me preface this by saying I love Collective Soul.
- 47:27SPEAKER_08: Um just uh it's just a uh great band, great songwriting.
- 47:33SPEAKER_08: Um it's uh it's very uh cookie cutter.
- 47:38SPEAKER_08: It seems that way.
- 47:39SPEAKER_11: It's music candy.
- 47:41SPEAKER_08: It's yeah, and it's also it's also um uh most of their songs are the same.
- 47:49SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 47:50SPEAKER_08: You know what I mean?
- 47:51SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:51SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 47:52SPEAKER_08: Okay, so I'm not talking out of school.
- 47:54SPEAKER_04: I uh that well I I always I always like when you say that you know I like I love such and such.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Because I know something negative is coming next.
- 48:04SPEAKER_04: Well, I don't know if I love Doug, but he will not shut up.
- 48:12SPEAKER_04: Well I love candy, but it's way too much sugar.
- 48:16SPEAKER_08: But I you know, I listened to those songs from the new album, and it sounds like Collective Soul because it sounds like all their other songs.
- 48:23SPEAKER_08: And that's not a I guess that's not a bad thing because they have a sound.
- 48:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 48:27SPEAKER_11: It's funny too, because so I I've been listening to the album sort of over and over, and I was about half about about sold on half of them.
- 48:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 48:36SPEAKER_11: Um and about about about a half of them are up tempo, which is more my thing, anyways.
- 48:42SPEAKER_11: Um but they played uh Mother's Love and Bluer Than So Blue, uh which is actually both really good songs.
- 48:49SPEAKER_11: That's what they opened the show with.
- 48:51SPEAKER_11: Um and the more I listen to it, like like I you just sort of I don't know, sort of connecting more and more.
- 49:00SPEAKER_11: Um but you're right, they they definitely have a very particular sound, and I'll say what usually hooks me is whatever sort of guitar hook they've got going.
- 49:10SPEAKER_08: They do have a lot of great hooks.
- 49:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah, a lot of great guitar riffs in in their in their tunes, especially heavy, the one that we play.
- 49:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's one of my favorites.
- 49:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 49:19SPEAKER_11: Now, do you when you play heavy, do you do something with that very beginning part?
- 49:23SPEAKER_11: Actually, in a concert, it's audio.
- 49:24SPEAKER_11: They don't they don't they don't do that.
- 49:28SPEAKER_08: They they don't?
- 49:29SPEAKER_11: Nope, that is pre-recorded.
- 49:31SPEAKER_11: That's like the best part.
- 49:33SPEAKER_11: That is two shows.
- 49:34SPEAKER_11: I've seen two shows, and they've they've it's both been pre-recorded.
- 49:38SPEAKER_11: And then the guitarist comes in with uh the actual next riff.
- 49:42SPEAKER_08: Actually, uh while I have you here, Bob, uh you you mentioned that you've been to two collective soul shows.
- 49:47SPEAKER_08: Tell that story because uh to Morton uh about uh the one you saw them at Sunday River or Sugar Loaf or something like that.
- 49:54SPEAKER_11: Yeah, you know, and the funny thing is I tried looking this up on the internet because I was there, and I can find no record of it ever occurring, but it it definitely happened because the show was ended prematurely.
- 50:04SPEAKER_11: So uh we were down at uh Mount Snow in Vermont, and uh they had done a show uh on the ski slope.
- 50:13SPEAKER_11: So the stage was sort of against the back of the mountain, and the crowd would have been between the stage and say like the lodge.
- 50:20SPEAKER_11: Um and it was a pretty good crowd.
- 50:22SPEAKER_11: This was sort of at the height of I think their second album, which would have been like what, December and stuff like that?
- 50:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah, which they're they're they're self-titled, yeah, I think so.
- 50:32SPEAKER_11: Okay, yeah, so it was about that time.
- 50:34SPEAKER_11: It was like 1995, 96, 97, something like that.
- 50:39SPEAKER_11: And um so they sounded awesome on stage, and again, they did heavy and it was pre-recorded, and then they came up with the guitar riffs.
- 50:48SPEAKER_11: But um, snowballs are just going all over the place.
- 50:51SPEAKER_11: The crowd's getting wilder and wilder towards the end.
- 50:54SPEAKER_11: And they had done shine, they were probably gonna be at the point of finishing their set, and some jackass in the audience takes a snowball and throws it right directly at Roland.
- 51:08SPEAKER_11: It drops on stage unconscious.
- 51:12SPEAKER_11: So come to find out the guy had packed like a C battery in the snowball.
- 51:19SPEAKER_11: And it just he he just dropped like a rock.
- 51:22SPEAKER_11: So and then after that, immediately the band the rest of the band basically just threw their instruments to the stage and jumped into the crowd.
- 51:32SPEAKER_11: And not before one of them, I don't remember which band member it was, it might have been his brother, uh, grabs a microphone and says, police yourselves.
- 51:41SPEAKER_11: Uh to which point, at about 15 seconds later, a cop comes on stage with a with a uh German Shepherd and says, Do not police yourselves.
- 51:52SPEAKER_11: Do not police yourselves.
- 51:54SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:55SPEAKER_11: Um but anyway, so the show ended prematurely, and uh we're writing back, and the DJ of the local radio was talking about, you know, what a bummer that this individual did what he did and to ruin the show like that.
- 52:08SPEAKER_11: Um but my wife was there and you know when it it started to get pretty intense.
- 52:15SPEAKER_11: She's sort of like, I'd like to leave now.
- 52:21SPEAKER_11: But yeah, that was uh that was the story of Collective Soul's first show.
- 52:25SPEAKER_08: And I remember seeing Collector's Soul in the mid in the mid-90s.
- 52:28SPEAKER_08: Well, I didn't hear see them, I heard them.
- 52:30SPEAKER_11: Oh, right, because they opened for Van Halen?
- 52:32SPEAKER_08: They opened for Van Halen and my wife got food poisoning, so so I heard them from the lobby while she was in the bathroom.
- 52:38SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 52:38SPEAKER_08: She wasn't my wife at the time either, so yeah.
- 52:42SPEAKER_08: I did what I had to do.
- 52:44SPEAKER_08: Anyway.
- 52:44SPEAKER_08: Good man smart man, by the way.
- 52:46SPEAKER_08: Exactly.
- 52:46SPEAKER_08: Yes, look how it worked out, right?
- 52:49unknown: Yeah.
- 52:50SPEAKER_08: Alright, guys.
- 52:51SPEAKER_08: Um we're gonna we're gonna cut this off because we're getting some like interference here, and I'm not sure what's what's going on.
- 52:58SPEAKER_08: Uh this is I think this is the first time that we've had two people on FaceTime uh at the same time.
- 53:03SPEAKER_08: Well, we usually use Zoom.
- 53:05SPEAKER_08: We usually use Zoom.
- 53:06SPEAKER_08: And so we're getting a lot of in interference and uh it's all the awesomeness.
- 53:10SPEAKER_08: It is it is so we want to thank you both for uh being a part of our 200th episode.
- 53:18SPEAKER_08: We're gonna continue on after we hang up with you guys.
- 53:20SPEAKER_08: We're gonna say some really bad things about you.
- 53:22SPEAKER_08: So um we do uh That's so nice of you guys to wait.
- 53:27SPEAKER_12: That's great.
- 53:28SPEAKER_08: So we will we'll have you both on again uh pretty soon and and some someday we'll do it all in person.
- 53:39SPEAKER_08: Uh that would be kind of cool.
- 53:40SPEAKER_08: That would be awesome.
- 53:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:42SPEAKER_05: That sounds great.
- 53:43SPEAKER_05: All right, guys.
- 53:44SPEAKER_05: All right, guys.
- 53:45SPEAKER_05: Thanks, Chris.

- 53:48SPEAKER_05: And thanks, Chris, and Chris.
- 53:49SPEAKER_08: Did you notice this?
- 53:50SPEAKER_08: His so it says uh so it says uh Chris, parentheses, not Doug, Chris, the other Chris.
- 54:00SPEAKER_02: All right, brothers.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: All right, guys.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: Have a great night.

- 54:09unknown: Okay.
- 54:10SPEAKER_04: Um I would love to have those two in the same room.
- 54:13SPEAKER_04: Because we they kind of have this almost the same kind of same sense of humor.
- 54:18SPEAKER_08: Whoa, what's going on there?
- 54:19SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 54:20SPEAKER_02: It's you! It's me.
- 54:21SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna turn that right off.
- 54:23SPEAKER_08: There we go.
- 54:23SPEAKER_08: There we go.
- 54:24SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 54:24SPEAKER_08: Um yeah, it's yeah, the the sense of humor is whoops, I guess I didn't mean to click on that, but um it's the same sense of humor.
- 54:34SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 54:35SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, we gotta we gotta get them both in the same room.
- 54:37SPEAKER_04: That would be fun.
- 54:38SPEAKER_04: That would be awesome.
- 54:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 54:39SPEAKER_08: Um, so let's go back to Well, we've been talking for an hour now, actually.

- 54:54SPEAKER_04: Well, I have to see them.
- 54:56SPEAKER_04: Well, I love the Mark one.
- 54:58SPEAKER_04: The mark one is hilarious.
- 55:00SPEAKER_08: Do you remember which one?
- 55:01SPEAKER_04: It's way up there.
- 55:02SPEAKER_04: It's uh It was July of 2022.
- 55:08SPEAKER_04: Oh my goodness.
- 55:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 55:10SPEAKER_08: Uh let's see.
- 55:11SPEAKER_04: I mean, there were so many, there were so many good ones.
- 55:13SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.

- 55:23SPEAKER_08: Um I'm not sure which one is opened.
- 55:26SPEAKER_08: I didn't click on anything.
- 55:27SPEAKER_08: So let's see.
- 55:28SPEAKER_04: Oh wait, uh, go back down there.
- 55:31SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 55:32SPEAKER_04: Uh those ones right right there in the middle.
- 55:37SPEAKER_08: Right here?
- 55:38SPEAKER_04: Oh, what just happened?
- 55:39SPEAKER_04: What's going on?
- 55:41SPEAKER_04: What are you going on?
- 55:45SPEAKER_04: Because there was a couple on Zoom there.
- 55:48SPEAKER_08: On Zoom?
- 55:49SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah.
- 55:49SPEAKER_04: I was on Zoom, because it was uh I think we were in the middle of a storm.
- 55:52SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 55:53SPEAKER_08: Is that a better podcast?
- 55:57SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, that was one Is that the one?
- 55:59SPEAKER_04: That's not one of that's not one, but uh that was a pretty good one.
- 56:03SPEAKER_08: Or is it this one?
- 56:04SPEAKER_04: Uh go.
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: No, it's not that one.
- 56:07SPEAKER_04: Uh try that.
- 56:09SPEAKER_04: Try that.
- 56:09SPEAKER_04: No, no, you just passed it.
- 56:11SPEAKER_04: Right there.
- 56:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 56:11SPEAKER_04: Try that one.
- 56:12SPEAKER_04: In the middle?
- 56:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 56:13SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 56:13SPEAKER_04: I think that's a good one.
- 56:15SPEAKER_04: Um you were talking about uh you would it was before you were recording us, but it was the podcast hadn't started yet, and you were talking about somebody used a less paul instead of a strat.
- 56:27SPEAKER_02: And I just went off on it.
- 56:29SPEAKER_02: I remember this, yeah.
- 56:30SPEAKER_04: I can't remember if this is literally No, this is when I was just jerking your chain.
- 56:37SPEAKER_04: Who said that?
- 56:42SPEAKER_04: Can you see me or not?
- 56:45SPEAKER_18: Who's speaking?
- 56:56SPEAKER_04: No, I think it must be the next one.
- 56:59SPEAKER_08: Because I think it was that same.
- 57:00SPEAKER_08: Let me see if it takes me back there.
- 57:02SPEAKER_08: Cause unless it because for some reason the uh internet is really crappy.
- 57:06SPEAKER_08: Is it this next one?
- 57:07SPEAKER_08: Try that one.
- 57:09SPEAKER_08: Can you still see me?
- 57:11SPEAKER_08: I don't know why.
- 57:12SPEAKER_04: You're just replaying that.
- 57:15SPEAKER_08: Oh, I don't know.
- 57:16SPEAKER_06: I didn't replay anything.
- 57:18SPEAKER_08: Can you see me or not?
- 57:20SPEAKER_02: Why is it still playing?
- 57:22SPEAKER_02: What's going on?
- 57:23SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 57:24SPEAKER_02: Now I don't know who's talking.
- 57:26SPEAKER_02: Who's speaking?
- 57:27SPEAKER_17: Who's speaking?
- 57:29SPEAKER_08: Wow, my goodness.
- 57:30SPEAKER_08: I guess so.
- 57:31SPEAKER_08: I guess the internet uh is not better.
- 57:34SPEAKER_04: Well, maybe maybe if everybody in the planet wasn't on it right now, you know, including us, but you know.
- 57:40SPEAKER_04: It's true.
- 57:41SPEAKER_08: It is what it is.
- 57:41SPEAKER_04: It's true.
- 57:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 57:43SPEAKER_08: Uh this is good so far.
- 57:45SPEAKER_08: Well, I'm trying to get out of it now so I can go back in.
- 57:48SPEAKER_08: But it's not uh let me switch here.
- 57:51SPEAKER_08: Let me switch tabs.
- 57:55SPEAKER_08: Okay, let's let's get out of this.
- 58:00SPEAKER_08: There.
- 58:01SPEAKER_08: Now we'll click on this one.
- 58:02SPEAKER_08: Try that one.
- 58:02SPEAKER_08: This says inside joke, is that it?
- 58:05SPEAKER_08: Maybe inside joke?
- 58:08SPEAKER_08: This may be the last one we do because this is not working.
- 58:12SPEAKER_08: Um But you can see them all on either our YouTube page or our Facebook page.
- 58:19SPEAKER_08: Um hopefully we're gonna get back to them uh pretty soon.
- 58:23SPEAKER_08: Let's see what this one is.
- 58:28SPEAKER_18: Yeah, right here, this is the one.
- 58:29SPEAKER_08: Uh and it was a guitar player thing.
- 58:31SPEAKER_08: The the guitar solo in another brick in the wall was not a strat, it was a les paul.
- 58:37SPEAKER_18: Oh.
- 58:42SPEAKER_18: I knew that.
- 58:46SPEAKER_18: I like the overheads on the mids.
- 58:50SPEAKER_18: But you can totally tell it was a les paul and not a strat.
- 58:54SPEAKER_18: Maybe they're using a fuzz box instead of a stump pad.
- 59:00SPEAKER_18: Every other third hit on the stair was uh 1k uh quieter than the rat.
- 59:21SPEAKER_08: He's on the dark side of the sun.
- 59:23SPEAKER_18: He's on the dark side of the sun.
- 59:26SPEAKER_18: The sun's here, this happy little fella.
- 59:33SPEAKER_02: I just chose uh just to be with you, apparently.
- 59:39SPEAKER_02: Alright, tell me about the writing of that song.
- 59:43SPEAKER_18: Well, I used a strat, not a left.
- 59:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's good stuff.
- 59:51SPEAKER_08: That's good stuff.
- 59:53SPEAKER_04: We've had some fun over the years.
- 59:54SPEAKER_04: Yes, we have.
- 59:55SPEAKER_08: Yes, we have.
- 59:57SPEAKER_08: Um Alright.
- 59:59SPEAKER_08: So let's move on because we gotta wrap this up soon.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_08: I did want to play this for you, though.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, I want to hear the new uh Def Leopard song.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_04: It's a new Leopard.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_04: Now that I don't have to call.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_08: It's it's new Def Leppard.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_08: And Hello! I thought you were.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_02: Why is that?
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_08: Uh and it was a guitar player thing.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_08: It's playing solo when another brick in the wall was not a getting.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_02: What is happening?
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_02: I don't like it! Make it stop Okay, hopefully this plays.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_08: So they released a song.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_08: I don't know if it's gonna be a part of an album or or what it is.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_08: I haven't read the article.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_08: All I see is 73.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_08: The song is called Just Like 73.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_04: Oh, just like 73.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_04: 1973 or like the number 73?
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_08: 1973.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_08: And i Tom Morello is on it.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_08: And I think it's either he either he helped write it or he I know he plays the lead the first guitar solo.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_08: Because you can tell.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_08: You can tell.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_04: He's he's pretty distinctive.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_08: But I don't know how I feel about it.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_08: I I I I I like that Def Leopard is still put putting out music.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_08: I mean, they don't have to.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_08: Um and I don't know if it's a one-off just because it was fun, because it sounds like their um their influences, like the because they were always into like T-Rex and you know, uh the sweet, uh, you know, the glam, uh British glam.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_08: Um and it sounds like that.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_08: And I mean it's not bad, but I don't know, you tell me.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_08: You tell me what you think.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_08: I'll tell you in a second.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_08: Because I don't know.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_08: I feel like a Debbie Downer lately.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_03: You mean Debbie Gibson?
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I meant Debbie Gibson.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_08: I feel like Debbie Gibson.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_08: I feel like a Debbie Gibson.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_04: See what I mean?
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's not bad, but well, I'll tell you this.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_04: I'm glad it didn't call.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_04: This honestly, I do not like this at all.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_04: It's way too busy.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_04: It's it just seems like it's way too much on this track.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_08: And I don't know if Tom Morello actually pro I probably should read the article.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_08: Um so Tom Morello is a longtime fan.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_08: Uh well that I'm not surprised by.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_04: Uh oh, that's why they put 72, because they had to they had a rhyme with rock with rock with you.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_04: Uh clever.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I did it.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_08: And it is pretty repetitive, but yeah, here's the guitar solo.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_08: You can tell it's Tom Roll.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_13: A rise to the crazy on electric phase.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_13: A universal.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so I'm not crazy about it.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_04: I don't like it.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_04: To be honest with you, I don't like it.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_08: I could do without it.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_08: They did a song on their last album that was almost like that, but it was better.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_08: Uh, do you remember that song?
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_08: Uh I'll play.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_08: I mean, it almost sounds like the same song.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_04: Uh I think they're doing that whole like Bon Joey thing.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_08: What Cookie Cutter.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah, well, you know, to a certain extent, I think they, you know, it's one of those it's one of those thought processes where um it worked once, so let's do it again.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_08: Um But no, their last album had well, two songs that were like that.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_08: This one.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this one's down it's sonically better.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it doesn't sound like there's so much going on.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_04: But it's a yeah, it's the same kind of it's the same it's the the glamour, same formula.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_08: This one was another one.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah, this this reminded me of adrenalize.

- 1:10:16SPEAKER_04: It might be the same song though.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_08: But like we said, I mean, it sounds like just like Deep Purple.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_02: It sounds pretty good.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_08: It's amazing how that happens.

- 1:11:04SPEAKER_08: This is a demo.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_00: There's a little black smile on the sun today.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_00: It's my soul up there.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_08: I might have to spring for this one.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_08: I think I'm gonna have to spring for this one too, man.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_00: It's my soul up there.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_00: There's a black one.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_08: That comes out July 26th.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_00: There's my soul up there.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_00: There's a flag for rag and the wind wants to.

- 1:11:53SPEAKER_08: Uh Hawk Wind.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's a that's a reissue.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_08: Uh David Gilmore's Luckin' Strange finally comes out uh in August.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_08: And I think that's it, actually, for for new albums through July.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_08: So yeah.

- 1:12:36SPEAKER_08: Okay, no, that's this week's.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_08: Okay, so what was who won last week?
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_04: I won last week.

- 1:12:46SPEAKER_04: We need to keep up with it.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_08: I'm sorry.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_04: This is the one we're doing this week.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_08: I'm sorry.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_08: I thought I thought every episode we get a winner from the weekend.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_08: Oh no, no, no, no, we winner from the week.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_04: Oh, the D the Dom Peringon.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_08: So what was what was her uh decision on that?
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_04: Uh it was me.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_04: Celebrate, cool in the game.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_08: And I think I agreed with that was a good one.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_04: So I so that she she chose mine last week.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_04: So Good job.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_04: Alright, thanks mean.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_04: Okay, this is this week's song.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_04: Play the song your best friend would say reminds me of you.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_08: Yeah, there's a banjo behind you now.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_08: I'm not liking that.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_08: I'm having to I'll I'll move that next time.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_04: So, Cousin Larry.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_04: Uh his back in black.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_04: Hopefully, I'm not too late.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_04: That is the ringtone my buddy has for me when I call the song.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_08: So so Cousin Larry's song that uh he would say uh his friends would pick is this one.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_04: It's such an obscure song, I mean.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_08: Oh, yes, of course.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_08: So, do you want to go next?
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_04: I thought mine was pretty obvious.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_04: Uh Resignation Superman.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_04: Big Head Todd the Monsters.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_04: Oh, yes.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_04: Because it is the only song I've had made into a tattoo.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_07: So.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_07: Let me get a good version of it here.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_07: I got their new album, by the way.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_07: Yes, it's very good.
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_04: Surprised we haven't talked about it yet.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_04: We'll put that on the list for episode two thousand two hundred and one.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_04: Oh, geez, I guess I I guess the only version I have is the live version.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_04: Well, that's still a good version.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_04: That's my favorite version.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_07: If I have a live version, where did my live monsters go?
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_07: Oh, there it is.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_07: Yeah, right here.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_06: No, I get I get that.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_08: So this is who your friends would say.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_04: Well, I would hope, but Okay.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_04: I mean, I literally turned it into a tattoo.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_08: Okay, so so mine.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_08: Um, and the only reason I picked this, and this was the first thing that popped into my head, because one of my friends actually did uh say that this song reminds them of me.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_08: Because they said it sounds like something I would write.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_08: So I want to get it here.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_08: And I think I'm gonna do um the live version.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_08: This is John Hyatt and Through Your Hands.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_08: Um I remember one time, because Don Henley did a version of this song.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_08: And it was, I think it was on the uh John Travolta soundtrack, like uh Michael, uh which was a when he was an angel or something.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_08: Right, right, right.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_08: I think it was on that soundtrack.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_08: Either that or phenomena.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_08: One of those John Travolta.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_08: Anyway, Don Henley did a version of this song.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_08: Let me play it for this one.
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_08: So it's John Hyatt through your hands, and like I said, Don Henley did a version of it, and I remember Shane uh hearing that song and saying, saying to me, This sounds like you.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah, this sounds like something that you would write.
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_08: So that's why I went with it.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_08: Yep, there you go.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_08: As soon as you said that, that's what popped into my head.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so that's that's why I went with it.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_08: So ACDC's back in black, resignation Superman from Big Head Todd the Monsters, and Through Your Hands from John Hyatt.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_08: Those are our answers for this week.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_08: What is next week's question?
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_04: Alright, let me pick one out here.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_04: Hopefully it's a good one.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_08: I like the I like it.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_04: Um, this'll be a good one.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_04: Uh this one doesn't require any uh music.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_04: It is favorite live concert you've been to.
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_08: Oh my oh, okay.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_08: Favorite live concert for for different reasons though.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_08: That's it's funny.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, yeah.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I get that.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_04: I gotta send a picture of cousin Larry.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_04: So yeah.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so that'll be next week's.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_08: Very cool.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_08: Alright, we're gonna take a break.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_08: We'll hear from our sponsors, and we'll come back and hear our um bonus beatles bit.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_04: Uh, I don't feel like doing that this week.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know what?
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_04: We are pretty long.

- 1:20:45SPEAKER_08: Still doing it, man.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_08: Still on tour and doing it in fine form.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_08: Um well, speaking of uh being on tour, uh, this is Good Evening New York City Live.
- 1:20:55SPEAKER_08: Ah.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_08: Um, which of course has a little bit of everything, uh, including some Beatles.
- 1:21:06SPEAKER_13: Good evening, New York City.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_04: How old is this album?
- 1:21:13SPEAKER_04: Two thousand nine.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 1:21:32SPEAKER_08: So he opens with the Beatles tune.
- 1:21:39SPEAKER_06: On the wings?
- 1:21:40SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 1:21:41SPEAKER_06: Alright, here's a little quiz for you.
- 1:21:44SPEAKER_06: What's this what album is this on?
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_04: Isn't that Band on the road?
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_04: No, no, this one's this one.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_08: I'm not even sure what song because I don't recall this song.
- 1:21:59SPEAKER_08: It's called Only Mama Knows.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_08: Got me, man.
- 1:22:06SPEAKER_08: So it's gotta be one of his two.
- 1:22:11SPEAKER_13: No idea.
- 1:22:21SPEAKER_04: It's not a cover, is it?
- 1:22:28SPEAKER_13: Oh.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_08: Memory almost full.
- 1:22:31SPEAKER_13: Oh, okay.
- 1:22:35SPEAKER_08: So it's a uh 2007 release.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_08: It goes right into Flaming Pie.
- 1:22:44SPEAKER_08: Which is from Flaming Pie.
- 1:22:45SPEAKER_08: Flaming Pie, obviously.
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_08: And then a Beatles tune.
- 1:22:50SPEAKER_04: Ah, such a great song.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_08: And then and then another Wings tune.
- 1:22:56SPEAKER_08: This is either Wings or or Paul McCartney Solo.
- 1:22:58SPEAKER_08: Let me roll it.
- 1:22:59SPEAKER_04: Oh, this is this is I think this is Wings, is it?
- 1:23:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:23:05SPEAKER_04: It's about marijuana.
- 1:23:08SPEAKER_08: And then a song called Highway.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_08: No idea.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_08: No idea.
- 1:23:12SPEAKER_08: Along and winding road, then my love, Blackbird.
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_08: Here today.
- 1:23:19SPEAKER_08: Which is a great song.
- 1:23:21SPEAKER_08: And then disc two starts with back in the USSR.
- 1:23:24SPEAKER_08: And then goes into.
- 1:23:25SPEAKER_08: Remember this one?
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 1:23:28SPEAKER_08: I'm down.
- 1:23:32SPEAKER_04: But listen to that band though, man.
- 1:23:36SPEAKER_04: Is this when he was playing with uh Abeal Jr.
- 1:23:38SPEAKER_04: Abeal Jr.
- 1:23:40SPEAKER_04: That dude is amazing.
- 1:23:46SPEAKER_04: Harold Smith did a good version of this.
- 1:23:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they did.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_08: Yep, they did, but you know, nobody doesn't like Paul McCartney.
- 1:23:52SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:23:53SPEAKER_08: He can't beat the original, man.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so so happy 82nd birthday to Sir Paul.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_08: Um what else can you say?
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_04: I mean That dude changed music.
- 1:24:07SPEAKER_04: I mean I mean he was part of that.
- 1:24:09SPEAKER_04: You know, we've said before that the Beatles are the most important band of the rock and roll.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_04: You know, they changed it.
- 1:24:17SPEAKER_04: They changed all the rules.
- 1:24:19SPEAKER_08: Well, actually, I don't know if they changed all the rules.
- 1:24:21SPEAKER_08: Well they made it more they made it they they took away the rules.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they they they just like took the rule book and just like set it on fire.
- 1:24:29SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:24:29SPEAKER_04: You know, and then because then everybody was like, oh, I could do that.
- 1:24:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:24:33SPEAKER_04: And then lo and behold.
- 1:24:35SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:24:35SPEAKER_04: You know.
- 1:24:39SPEAKER_04: Because you know, you hear stories of these, you know, you know, song factories like uh Paul Anka and those guys.
- 1:24:46SPEAKER_08: The real building, yeah.
- 1:24:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, they would just sit in rooms with a piano and write song, you know, just crank out hit songs and then just give them to artists.
- 1:24:53SPEAKER_08: Not to take anything away from them.
- 1:24:55SPEAKER_04: No, because they were great songs.
- 1:24:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:24:57SPEAKER_04: But the Beatles like just were like, well, screw that.
- 1:25:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:25:01SPEAKER_08: We're gonna do our own thing.
- 1:25:02SPEAKER_08: Well, initially the Beatles copied them, right?
- 1:25:05SPEAKER_04: Well, they were because they they loved you know American American blues and rock and rolls, Fats Domino, you know, all those guys.
- 1:25:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:25:14SPEAKER_04: You know, they loved that stuff.
- 1:25:16SPEAKER_04: I mean, they used to have to listen on like uh, you know, like pirate radio stations and sometimes the BBC would play, you know, like, oh no, it was right what was it called?
- 1:25:24SPEAKER_04: Radio Luxembourg.
- 1:25:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:25:26SPEAKER_04: Uh, you know, and you could only get it with like, you know, like, you know, certain times, like middle of the night, you know, when the you know, the atmosphere, you know, when the atmosphere gets better and you can get longer range, you know, from your AM.
- 1:25:38SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 1:25:39SPEAKER_04: You know, so yeah.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_08: Happy birthday, Sir Paul.
- 1:25:44SPEAKER_08: Happy birthday.
- 1:25:45SPEAKER_08: And uh that's gonna do it for episode 200.
- 1:25:48SPEAKER_08: Thank you to um Chris and Chris.
- 1:25:50SPEAKER_08: Chris and Chris.
- 1:25:51SPEAKER_08: Bob and Chris.
- 1:25:52SPEAKER_08: Bob and Chris um for uh hanging out with us at least for a little while.
- 1:25:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was nice.
- 1:25:56SPEAKER_08: Um we should have them on again.
- 1:25:58SPEAKER_08: We apologize for the sound quality.
- 1:25:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that was.
- 1:26:00SPEAKER_08: We probably won't use FaceTime again.
- 1:26:01SPEAKER_08: I don't think.
- 1:26:02SPEAKER_04: I bet I bet Zoom would have been better.
- 1:26:04SPEAKER_08: I think FaceTime would have been okay if it was just one person.
- 1:26:06SPEAKER_08: You think so?
- 1:26:07SPEAKER_08: I think so.
- 1:26:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:26:08SPEAKER_08: But uh yeah, we'll we'll use Zoom next time.
- 1:26:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um actually I'd rather have them, you know, in space.
- 1:26:13SPEAKER_08: I would I would too, but you know.
- 1:26:15SPEAKER_04: They can sit on, we can we can put those speakers out and you can set on the speakers.
- 1:26:19SPEAKER_04: Well, I have another chair.
- 1:26:21SPEAKER_08: Just like this.
- 1:26:21SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's right.
- 1:26:22SPEAKER_08: Yes, I have a I have your new chair.
- 1:26:23SPEAKER_08: I have a new chair.
- 1:26:24SPEAKER_08: It's a father's day chair.
- 1:26:24SPEAKER_08: It was my father's day present.
- 1:26:25SPEAKER_08: They gave me a new chair.
- 1:26:26SPEAKER_04: It's a fancy chair, it's got all the wheels and everything.
- 1:26:29SPEAKER_08: And the wheels don't come off.
- 1:26:31SPEAKER_08: That's awesome! Yeah.
- 1:26:33SPEAKER_08: Uh so yeah, that's episode 200.
- 1:26:35SPEAKER_04: And uh Well, thank you everybody for you know listening so we could get to 200.
- 1:26:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:26:40SPEAKER_04: Giving us a reason to make 200 of these.
- 1:26:42SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:26:43SPEAKER_08: And I think the reason that we make them is because they're fun.
- 1:26:46SPEAKER_04: They are fun.
- 1:26:47SPEAKER_08: We don't really I mean, we we have no I mean, I say we have no aspirations.
- 1:26:52SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 1:26:53SPEAKER_08: We'd like to do it all the time.
- 1:26:55SPEAKER_04: I mean this would be a fun this would be a fun job.
- 1:26:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:26:58SPEAKER_08: It would be a fun way to make it.
- 1:26:59SPEAKER_04: If we could make this our living, yeah, this would be the best.
- 1:27:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:27:03SPEAKER_08: But you know, um, we're having fun still.
- 1:27:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and that's what it's all about.
- 1:27:08SPEAKER_04: Just having fun and having conversations with our friends.
- 1:27:11SPEAKER_08: And we're gonna keep going.
- 1:27:12SPEAKER_08: Uh and uh I I I think actually, um, I don't know if you saw the message from Bounce and Bob on our Facebook page.
- 1:27:18SPEAKER_08: I did that.
- 1:27:19SPEAKER_08: He said that my wife is right.
- 1:27:21SPEAKER_08: Um, we should do reaction videos.
- 1:27:24SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 1:27:24SPEAKER_08: And they could submit them to us, like like you should watch this or you should listen to this.
- 1:27:30SPEAKER_04: Actually, that'd be yeah, that'd be fun.
- 1:27:31SPEAKER_08: You know, it would be fun.
- 1:27:31SPEAKER_04: That's the first time we've heard from Bounce and Bob in a while.
- 1:27:33SPEAKER_04: In a while.
- 1:27:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah, he used to like comment all the time.
- 1:27:35SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 1:27:36SPEAKER_08: I think he probably is one of our listen you know, our frequent listeners.
- 1:27:39SPEAKER_08: Oh, I mean, I think he probably listens to quite a bit.
- 1:27:41SPEAKER_08: I'm sure.
- 1:27:41unknown: Yeah.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_08: One of the very few.
- 1:27:43SPEAKER_08: So thanks, Bob.
- 1:27:44SPEAKER_08: For Bounce and Bob, I should say, for uh for hanging in there with us.
- 1:27:47SPEAKER_04: Uh and thank you, everybody else, for hanging with us.
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:27:51SPEAKER_04: It's been uh uh you know 200 episodes, man.
- 1:27:53SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's a lot of podcasts that never get to you know, never get to 100.
- 1:27:57SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:27:58SPEAKER_04: So uh here we are, 200 and still going.
- 1:28:01SPEAKER_04: We'll uh we'll start the next season.
- 1:28:04SPEAKER_04: The next hundred.
- 1:28:05SPEAKER_08: The next hundred uh next week.
- 1:28:07SPEAKER_04: It'll take us a couple years, but we'll get to three.
- 1:28:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
- 1:28:10SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I think it's about roughly every two years we get to.
- 1:28:12SPEAKER_08: And maybe, so this will be this this will be the jumping off point.
- 1:28:15SPEAKER_08: I'll set up the cameras next time.
- 1:28:17SPEAKER_08: And and so for episode 201, we'll start doing some we'll do a video promo.
- 1:28:22SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, there we go.
- 1:28:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right?
- 1:28:24SPEAKER_04: Yes, that means I have to put pants on.
- 1:28:27SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 1:28:28SPEAKER_08: Please.
- 1:28:30SPEAKER_04: Doug, you can't do the podcast naked anymore.
- 1:28:32SPEAKER_08: It's so funny that you say that because before I let you go.
- 1:28:35SPEAKER_04: I'm still I'm actually wearing pants.
- 1:28:36SPEAKER_04: That's not funny.
- 1:28:37SPEAKER_08: Hold on, hold on.
- 1:28:38SPEAKER_08: It's so funny that you say that, and it's it's quite uh comical that uh Chris Morton is in um the band with us because he fits in, fits like a glove.
- 1:28:49SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 1:28:50SPEAKER_08: Because um he says, cool on the home front, where and when, basically about being on the show.
- 1:28:54SPEAKER_08: Oh, sure.
- 1:28:55SPEAKER_08: And I said, probably around 7:30-ish, zoom or FaceTime.
- 1:28:58SPEAKER_08: He says, nice.
- 1:28:59SPEAKER_08: That means I don't have to wear pants.
- 1:29:01SPEAKER_08: And I said, I said, we encourage it either way.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_08: Just saying.
- 1:29:07SPEAKER_08: He says, geez, you sound just like my high school principal and all those toll booth workers, and that lady at the Arby's drive-thru window.
- 1:29:17SPEAKER_08: So yeah.
- 1:29:18SPEAKER_04: Uh that's why Morton's the man.
- 1:29:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:29:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:29:21SPEAKER_08: So uh yeah, episode 201 next week.
- 1:29:24SPEAKER_08: Uh, have a great one, everybody, and uh until then.
- 1:29:26SPEAKER_08: See you then.
