- 0:01Speaker 1: We have to be smart about it all. Tara Servatius,
- 0:06Speaker 1: who's the morning host in South Carolina on the big
- 0:09Speaker 1: station that we're on there, 98.9 WORD, Tara asked Ralph
- 0:14Speaker 1: Norman last night if he would campaign for Darlene Graham
- 0:18Speaker 1: in the Senate race in South Carolina. He said no.
- 0:21Speaker 1: He said no. Nope, not going to do it. I'm
- 0:24Speaker 1: not going to help her in any way, shape, or form.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Ralph Norman's family has already said it. For people who
- 0:29Speaker 1: don't know, The back story is that Darlene Graham was
- 0:34Speaker 1: sort of appointed to be the placeholder for Lindsey Graham,
- 0:38Speaker 1: her brother, when he died. And then evidently the tides
- 0:43Speaker 1: changed and either she decided or the party decided or
- 0:46Speaker 1: somebody decided that she should be the permanent senator to
- 0:50Speaker 1: replace her brother. And that left a lot of people
- 0:53Speaker 1: miffed because Ralph Norman, who's been a longtime congressman from
- 0:57Speaker 1: Rock Hill, South Carolina, he was sort of the expected
- 1:02Speaker 1: candidate to go up against this radical lunatic, Dr.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Annie Andrews.
- 1:08Speaker 1: So long story short, there's a lot of bitterness and
- 1:11Speaker 1: resentment in the primary. Darlene won.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Well, guess what? The voters picked her. I wanted Ralph Norman.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I like Ralph Norman. And I got nothing against Darlene.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Lovely lady, an accomplished person, a smart person. But it
- 1:23Speaker 3: didn't strike me as a resume that said, hey, you
- 1:26Speaker 3: need to be a senator for six years. It was
- 1:28Speaker 3: just too much uncertainty there. So I wanted Ralph. You
- 1:31Speaker 3: wanted Ralph. Not enough people in South Carolina wanted Ralph.
- 1:35Speaker 1: But when the voters decide, the voters decide. And she's
- 1:39Speaker 1: the nominee, so get behind her. And look, this hurts
- 1:44Speaker 1: me to say this, but this is not a smart
- 1:46Speaker 1: move for people to— and there's a write-in Ralph Norman campaign
- 1:51Speaker 1: going on in South Carolina. They're going to blow it.
- 1:53Speaker 1: They're going to lose that state if they're not careful
- 1:56Speaker 1: to a Democrat. South Carolina's got a lot of parallels
- 1:59Speaker 1: to Texas. I mean, there's no way a Democrat should
- 2:02Speaker 1: win in South Carolina.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Nope. But she's ahead in every poll.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Did Tara ask? Tara's a good host. She does the
- 2:07Speaker 3: morning show there in Greenville. As soon as Ralph Norman said, nope,
- 2:12Speaker 3: I will not be campaigning for Darlene Graham, did she say, why?
- 2:17Speaker 1: I kind of doubt it because Tara's not exactly a
- 2:22Speaker 1: big Darlene fan, if you know what I mean. I
- 2:25Speaker 1: think Tara's– I think there's a lot of red meat
- 2:29Speaker 1: conservatives that don't like the way it played out. And
- 2:33Speaker 1: so they– I guess they think South Carolina and the
- 2:36Speaker 1: country now need to be punished.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Just get over it. Get over it from incumbents to
- 2:44Speaker 3: broadcasters to pundits to whoever. Annie Andrews is a child
- 2:50Speaker 3: sex change cheerleading ghoul in a doctor's coat. And if
- 2:57Speaker 3: these people, if they came to you, came to Tara,
- 3:00Speaker 3: came to me, is what I've said a million times,
- 3:02Speaker 3: I'll say it a million more. If you've decided you're
- 3:04Speaker 3: just going to go be a Democrat, okay, I will
- 3:07Speaker 3: mourn the loss of you to the movement. But at
- 3:09Speaker 3: least you'll be being honest with yourself and with me.
- 3:12Speaker 3: But this, well, I'm a conservative. I'm a Republican. But
- 3:15Speaker 3: I'm staying out of this election. It is so that voters,
- 3:19Speaker 3: as you so aptly said, voters who dared to pick
- 3:22Speaker 3: somebody else must be punished. What a disgusting display of narcissism.
- 3:29Speaker 1: It just frustrates me. I like Ralph a lot. And
- 3:32Speaker 1: I like Ralph. You know, President Trump's going to host
- 3:34Speaker 1: a rally in Rock Hill. Now, there's a lot of speculation.
- 3:39Speaker 1: That's where Ralph Norman's from. I think he's sticking it
- 3:41Speaker 1: to Ralph. You know what? Good.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Deservedly so. Deservedly so.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Well, we'll see.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I don't know how that works. I wonder if Ralph,
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm sure Ralph won't appear with President Trump, which will
- 3:53Speaker 1: be awkward because that's his home. It's an awkward, awkward thing.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And Ralph has supported Trump. Ralph is a Trump supporter.
- 4:03Speaker 3: What is with people in their brain pan? I just
- 4:06Speaker 3: played this guy in a grocery store in Houston where
- 4:09Speaker 3: he said, well, you know, I'm a Trump supporter, but
- 4:11Speaker 3: I think I'm going to vote for Tallarico just for,
- 4:13Speaker 3: you know, checks and balances, checks and balances.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Are you high?
- 4:18Speaker 3: So Ralph Norman, who is a Trump supporter, is now
- 4:22Speaker 3: with his failure. It's a sin of omission. Sins of
- 4:24Speaker 3: commission are things you do. Sins of omission are things
- 4:27Speaker 3: you don't do that you should. And his sin of
- 4:29Speaker 3: omission is to fail to get out there and walk
- 4:31Speaker 3: through fire for Darlene and crawl on broken glass for Darlene,
- 4:35Speaker 3: as John Flippin' Cornyn should be doing for Paxton every
- 4:39Speaker 3: damn day. And if people can't do that, they have
- 4:41Speaker 3: become willful Democrat operatives. And there's just no explanation.
- 4:48Speaker 1: What I hate about it is that Ralph Norman is
- 4:50Speaker 1: no John Cornyn. You know, John Cornyn, I put John
- 4:54Speaker 1: Cornyn in the same category as Tom Tillis. They are
- 4:57Speaker 1: establishment swamp creatures who've been exposed. for exactly who they
- 5:02Speaker 1: are in defeat. The defeat that they suffered in the
- 5:05Speaker 1: primary has just let them be who they are. And
- 5:09Speaker 1: Tom Tillis wants to burn it all down on the
- 5:11Speaker 1: way out. John Cornyn's not doing his part to help
- 5:14Speaker 1: Ken Paxton.
- 5:15Speaker 2: He's bitter.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But I wish they would have taken a page from
- 5:19Speaker 1: the Ted Cruz's of the world, the Marco Rubio's of
- 5:22Speaker 1: the world, the Lindsey Graham's of the world.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 5:25Speaker 1: They said all kinds of horrible things about Trump at
- 5:28Speaker 1: the beginning. And then they put their country ahead of
- 5:30Speaker 1: their own petulance. And that's what people like John Cornyn
- 5:35Speaker 1: and I guess Congressman Norman are unable to do.
- 5:37Speaker 3: But you make a great distinction because a lot of
- 5:39Speaker 3: the people who are engaging in this behavior are the
- 5:42Speaker 3: establishment dinosaurs. who has seen voters turn away from their
- 5:45Speaker 3: whole style of governance and take it kind of personally,
- 5:48Speaker 3: which I understand. But get over yourself. You've got a
- 5:50Speaker 3: country to stay. Ralph is a dyed-in-the-wool MAGA conservative. And
- 5:55Speaker 3: so for him, this is just a tantrum. It's a
- 5:59Speaker 3: personal vendetta. And, man, that's sad.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Should I get him on the show? Do you think
- 6:04Speaker 2: I should interview him?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Ralph?
- 6:05Speaker 2: Heck yes. Why not? I like him.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And it'll be an interview wrapped in respect. And wrapped
- 6:14Speaker 3: in civility and decency. Why, Ralph? Why would you, through
- 6:20Speaker 3: your actions and inactions, do anything to help any Andrews,
- 6:25Speaker 3: a Democrat, win a Senate seat in your state? Make
- 6:29Speaker 3: that make sense to me.
- 6:31Speaker 2: And I would love to hear that.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And I'm afraid the answer might just be he may
- 6:35Speaker 1: not articulate it this way, but it goes back to
- 6:38Speaker 1: those famous that famous Ed Koch expression, which I always
- 6:42Speaker 1: think about fondly. He was the you know, he was
- 6:45Speaker 1: the very, you know, extravagant, eccentric Democrat mayor of New York.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And he lost an election once. He said, the people
- 6:53Speaker 1: have spoken and the people must be punished.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Exactly right.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And that's what these guys, that's what John Cornyn is doing. Hey,
- 7:01Speaker 1: speaking of being punished, do we have our deplorables moment
- 7:04Speaker 1: with Obama stepping in it over the Cheesecake Factory remark?
- 7:10Speaker 3: What?
- 7:13Speaker 2: What?
- 7:14Speaker 1: Scott Besson went to Cheesecake Factory yesterday, held a press
- 7:18Speaker 1: event right outside of it, and Greg Gutfeld went on
- 7:21Speaker 1: a rare— don' t dismiss this, Mark.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Do you like the Cheesecake Factory? Cheesecake Factory is a
- 7:28Speaker 3: lovely place.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Oh, well, Barack Obama doesn't think so. Mr.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Martha's Vineyard doesn't think so. Mark, they're so out of
- 7:36Speaker 1: touch that they do mock and turn their nose down
- 7:40Speaker 1: at hardworking, gun-grabbing, Bible-toting Americans. No, it's the same thing.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's another basket of deplorables moment. Might not be quite
- 7:49Speaker 1: as epic as the Hillary moment, but it doesn't help them.
- 7:53Speaker 2: It doesn't help them. What do you mean? Don't poo-poo this.
- 7:56Speaker 3: That stretch of Obama was he was talking about, once again,
- 8:00Speaker 3: ballrooms and how much gold there is. And no one
- 8:03Speaker 3: cares about this. And he talks about that because he
- 8:05Speaker 3: has nothing else to talk about. And the key line
- 8:09Speaker 3: that he chose to weaponize was, have you seen the
- 8:11Speaker 3: current White House? It's like Saddam Hussein to the interior
- 8:14Speaker 3: decorating at a cheesecake factory. A reference to ornate Saddam
- 8:18Speaker 3: palaces everywhere. And Cheesecake Factory, which is a wonderful franchise
- 8:21Speaker 3: that tends to have a lot of columns and mahogany
- 8:24Speaker 3: and ornate stuff as well. So that's the joke he
- 8:27Speaker 3: was attempting to make. People are choosing to get all
- 8:30Speaker 3: up in arms like this is a huge snub to
- 8:32Speaker 3: Cheesecake Factory.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I don't agree with you that people don't care. Let
- 8:37Speaker 1: me tell you why people care. Trump was asked about
- 8:40Speaker 1: it yesterday outside the White House.
- 8:41Speaker 3: He said, look.
- 8:42Speaker 1: The columns were cracking. The foundation was breaking.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Did you hear me?
- 8:46Speaker 3: I said, did you hear me? No, people don't care
- 8:49Speaker 3: when Democrats obsess about the ballroom or the helicopter pad.
- 8:55Speaker 1: But I do think we care that we have a
- 8:57Speaker 1: president who has such pride in America and knows that
- 9:01Speaker 1: the White House is such a symbol of America.
- 9:03Speaker 3: It should be pristine. It should be well cared for.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And the soundbite that he gave the reporters yesterday was
- 9:10Speaker 1: so pitch perfect. He said, look, I see the White
- 9:13Speaker 1: House as a symbol of America's greatness. He said Obama
- 9:17Speaker 1: would walk through the doors and he would see the
- 9:19Speaker 1: crumbling marble and he'd see the filth and the dirt.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Do you remember when you and I were invited to
- 9:24Speaker 1: the White House years ago? And we sat there in
- 9:27Speaker 1: the Oval Office with George W. Bush. And I don't
- 9:30Speaker 1: know if you remember this as vividly as I do.
- 9:32Speaker 1: My recollection is that the White House... was, the Oval
- 9:36Speaker 1: Office was filthy. The carpet was dirty. The walls didn't
- 9:41Speaker 1: look great. When we were walking through the halls of
- 9:43Speaker 1: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I thought, gosh, I thought this place
- 9:47Speaker 1: would be a lot more pristine than it is. It's
- 9:49Speaker 1: the White House for crying out loud. Well, Trump is obviously,
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know, attuned to this. And he has turned the
- 9:57Speaker 1: whole thing, he said, it's in better, it's in the
- 9:59Speaker 1: best shape. it's been since it was built in 1792.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Which I completely believe.
- 10:05Speaker 2: He's right. And it should be.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Even Bill Maher said we need a ballroom. You don't
- 10:09Speaker 3: want to throw up a tent like it's the backyard
- 10:11Speaker 3: at a college football week.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Clay Travis did a great monologue. He said, Obama mocking
- 10:17Speaker 1: Cheesecake Factory. It tells you everything about how out of
- 10:20Speaker 1: touch political elites are. Eating at the Cheesecake Factory was
- 10:24Speaker 1: always a special occasion for my family and for thousands
- 10:27Speaker 1: of families all over America. You know, Obama is telling
- 10:30Speaker 1: on himself here.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And he is.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I mean, you think Obama and Michelle have ever gone
- 10:35Speaker 1: to a Cheesecake Factory in the last 20 years?
- 10:38Speaker 2: Give me a break.
- 10:39Speaker 1: So, I mean, it's a little bit like hearing Sean
- 10:41Speaker 1: Hannity talk about how much he loves shopping at Walmart.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Or Dana Perino talking about taking the subway. I can't
- 10:48Speaker 1: get over this. I'm obsessing about this. Do you think
- 10:50Speaker 1: she actually takes the subway?
- 10:53Speaker 3: See, my head explodes because no, and yet I will
- 10:57Speaker 3: believe anything Dana says. If Dana says the sky is
- 11:01Speaker 3: green and grass is blue, I'd run outside to check.
- 11:03Speaker 3: She's such a lovely, trustworthy, wonderful person.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I know. And I love her. And then final note
- 11:08Speaker 1: about Cheesecake Factory. Scott Jennings nailed it. Because I can't
- 11:11Speaker 1: get over that. Well, I can't get over you giving
- 11:13Speaker 1: them cover.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Shame on you.
- 11:15Speaker 3: We're trying. We're looking for everything.
- 11:17Speaker 2: No, we're not. I get the point. No, the game
- 11:21Speaker 2: came to us on this one.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And as Scott Jennings pointed out last night, Obama makes
- 11:26Speaker 1: speeches for $ 500, 000 a pop, hasn't eaten a dinner that
- 11:30Speaker 1: costs less than $ 250 in years, has never been inside
- 11:34Speaker 1: a cheesecake factory. He's undefeated at condescending to regular folks.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But here's the part that takes it all home, Mark,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and you'll agree with this. Obama will always be known.
- 11:43Speaker 1: For the presidency that ushered in the Trump era to
- 11:47Speaker 1: begin with.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Completely correct. Completely correct. And you thought you had the
- 11:52Speaker 3: last word on Cheesecake Factory. I'll take a last, last
- 11:54Speaker 3: word on Cheesecake Factory. If you're looking for a good
- 11:57Speaker 3: upper body workout for arms and chest muscles, lift that menu.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 12:03Speaker 1: It's overwhelming. It's the Manhattan phone book. It's the Gutenberg Bible.
- 12:08Speaker 1: It is the thickest menu. It's got 97 pages. You
- 12:12Speaker 1: could go there every day for the next four years
- 12:16Speaker 1: and not order the same thing twice.
- 12:18Speaker 3: God bless Cheesecake Factory.
- 12:19Speaker 2: But I love it.
- 12:20Speaker 1: My kids, Denise, we used to love the Cheesecake Factory
- 12:23Speaker 1: over there in South OU. It has to go all
- 12:25Speaker 1: the time. All right.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Well, happy Tuesday, Mr.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Elitist.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Here's Mr.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Elitist.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Stop it. Mark and Lisa, Cheesecake Factory.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I love Cheesecake Factory.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, sure you do. Dude, I have a.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Whataburger three times a week. Don't pin no elitist label
- 12:40Speaker 3: on me.
- 12:40Speaker 2: What about Walmart? What about Walmart?
- 12:43Speaker 3: Well, we just, didn't we?
- 12:44Speaker 1: I know.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Life is starting to blur. Between show and podcast.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I know.
- 12:49Speaker 3: M & M Extra, 11 o'clock Texas time, noon Eastern,
- 12:51Speaker 3: live stream on YouTube, and then Apple and Spotify. I
- 12:54Speaker 3: think we did it in both. You're very odd. Can't
- 12:57Speaker 3: find somebody that speaks English at Walmart. We made clear
- 13:00Speaker 3: with all of this that this is wrapped in love.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Love for Walmart as a company and as a money-saving
- 13:05Speaker 3: staple for many.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Including us.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Next M & M podcast, we're going to be remoting
- 13:10Speaker 1: from Martha's Vineyard at Mark's Estate.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I love you.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Happy Tuesday.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I love you back. That's Mike.
- 13:15Speaker 3: And before the podcast happens, he's on the radio.
