- Look at that, but let's Yes, the recording is working. I can hear you just fine. Hey, we did it. So should we put a PSA out for the people who are listening, who might be creating their own podcast and running into similar problems and find that they have to use QuickTime even though they don't want to? Well, I mean, it's a problem for Some of us. Yeah. So last week I had the problem last fortnight I had the problem where as soon as I clicked run on audio hijack, I ceased to hear all of you. and we couldn't diagnose the problem. Just now we have spent ten minutes attempting to diagnose the problem, and we've had success. It was not audio hijack it was in fact another product made by Rogamieba SoundSource. That was somehow getting in the middle of things and I guess rerouting my routing. I think that's what it's designed to do: route audio, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So I've as soon as I quit that app, everything works fine. Brilliant. Love it. So he's not recording with QuickTime. Thank goodness. Because we just we couldn't deal with that again. No. No. That was horrible. Oh man. Well, good thing I haven't set up any loop back audio. I've got that app as well, but I haven't set that anything up in there, which thankfully. Oh, loop back. Oh, that's actually the one I thought you were talking about. Wait, which one did you were using? What? Oh, Sound Source, which is like it's like another another routing app. Oh, when you said Sound Source, I thought loopback. Nah, we'll have all of them. It's ba. Just run all the audio routing programs. All at once, it's probably fine. Cool. I don't think this software is too powerful for me, really. Yeah. It's not safe in my hands. I've used it a couple of times. The loop back one I've used a couple of times for. when we had done some live streams, it was handy for that because I had to push like something somewhere that was weird and The system didn't want to do it, but Loopbag was like, Yeah, I'll do that. And yeah, other than that, I don't use it day to day. No, and that's probably wise. It is fun though, because it feels like you play it feel it's like you're a real audio engineer with those little virtual wires you're kind of plugging in. And then they kind of like bounce and dangle as once you plug them in. Yeah, it feels good. It makes you feel good. It's a fun app. But there we go. So Rogue Amoeba's audio apps were not cooperating. Right. Which probably wasn't their fault. I imagine it was probably user error. I imagine it was probably Apple error. Oh, it could be. Because it used to work just fine in the previous Sequoia. You think this is a Tahoe issue? Yeah, I'm putting it down to Tahoe. It's probably just the corners are too rounded that the cables get stuck. That's probably what's happening. So people are probably wondering why it's just you and I. babbling to each other. We've lost our um our Sherpa at the show. Is is Martin not here? No, no, he's not. Oh, shoot. Okay. Do you know where he went? Yeah, it's just the two of us. I think he went to the toilet. Probably looking at our work if you look back a couple episodes. He's just been in there looking at those, what were they sold? Wands, I forget now, but whatever they were. He's just been in there for like a day and a half, just studying them, working out the pricing. Yeah. Yeah, he says he's got a bit of gastro, but I think he's actually just doing a little shopping. Yeah, that's a typical excuse for an art connoisseur such as himself. And he doesn't want anybody else to come in the toilet and like potentially buy it out from under. It's like an eBay situation. You don't want to get sniped, you know? You're in there, you're waiting for that last. Last second, we're gonna hit bid. You got the internet connection stable, you wanna make sure that nobody comes in and snipes it from you. I understand. It's like when you push you push the flush button and that's like your indication to buy. Last Exactly. Yep. Just don't half flush it, Martin. You need the full flush. Do you guys have half you guys have half flush buttons, don't you? We do not. generally. On the Japanese toilets that we do have, we do have the half and the full for sure. This is like a So so is this just like a Portland thing, or is this an American thing? You don't have half flushes? No, I think most folks can't be bothered with a half or a full. Because they, I mean, let's be honest, they would all do full every time anyway. There's no one trying to conserve, right? That's not a thing. Yeah, and if there were like a third option for like burn some fossil fuels while you're at it, like that would be the option people would go for. I think it must be mandated here because every single toilet is half-flush. Like has a half full flush option. I know there's a thing where there's like a how many gallons or liters per flush that a toilet can do. So, you'll always see like the one GF, which is the one gallon per flush or whatever. So, I think that's maybe the route because I feel like if there's two buttons, that's just too much choice, and people get confused here. You know, like, I don't know. I guess I'll just always go full because eagles so On that note, should what do you do we do topics still if Martin's not here? Or like, how does this Well, usually when it's just the two of us, we just go totally rogue. Yeah. I like that. And it infuriates Martin so much when he listens back. So should we just go out of order? Should I just pick one randomly from the run sheet? Yes. Okay. Yes. I'm going to start with Swapping Max. So this is Swapping Max. Let's walk through it is the title. And this was I think we'll just say that whatever the decision, Martin would have been the tie, the tiebreaker here for the decision. But instead, I think what we'll do is if you and I disagree, I'll just take his vote as one for me, and then I just win. So we'll just probably go that route. Does that work for you? Okay. Yeah. Okay, sure. Okay, so. Swapping Macs, I am looking to downsize my Mac a little. My sixteen inch MacBook Pro. Okay. Okay. It's uh it's an M2 Max. So it's three and a half, I think three and a half years old, three, four years old, something like that. And I'm looking to get myself into a 13-inch M4 MacBook Air. Ooh, with the air. Okay. Not not the bass pro? Yeah, I'm I'm kinda going full tilt the other way. Bass Pro, that's what I've got. I thought about pro, but this one's even smaller. I went and looked at them yesterday. The air is just real small and thin. And I think given that I won't really be needing. The Gigunto computer for reasons that for reasons. The Air, I think, makes sense. So I went and looked at them yesterday and I think I'm going to go with the well, they call it blue. I call it silver number three. There's no blue because there's there's silver. There's kind of goldy silver, and then there's kind of bluey silver, right? Which like I look out my window and I see the sky, the sky is blue. That computer is not that blue. It is not. No. To the point that when we went to the store yesterday, the helpful one of the many Helpful salespeople. He pointed out that that's the yellow one and that's the blue one. And I was just kind of like, hey, that's so sad that you have to tell me, because it's so hard to tell in this horribly lit Apple Store. But also the yellow one? Like, I would have thought you would have said that's the starlight one and that's the sky blue one, but All right. It's not his first radio. He knows what people that's the silver, that's the yellow, and that's the whatever. We don't care. So, I'm going to go blue. It doesn't really matter. They all look the same. They're literally all silver. It it's fine. I think I would go blue too, because why not? You know, it's some hope of getting a little bit Yep. It's better than spice gray. On the off chance the light is right that day and it happens to look a slightly blue, I can go, oh, look, it's blue So, yeah, I'm going from M2 Max 16-inch MacBook Pro. 96 gigs of RAM, 2 terabytes, down to 13-inch MacBook Air M4. 32 gigabytes of RAM, 2 terabytes. Same as my iMac. Exactly. Yeah, it's almost, if I were there, I could just probably use your iMac. Except you probably could. So that's my plan, and I wanted to get both of your rulings on if that was a good or bad decision. Okay, okay, Luke. Are you t going to take advantage of Apple trade-in or are you just going to sell this thing privately? So I did I had a gift card from when I gave him my old phone. So that came off already. And then I looked. The trade-in for this 16-inch is actually $1,250. Not terrible. It's not bad. But I think I could probably sell it privately for. Somewhere in the range of $1,500 to $2,000, I would think. Yeah. It's got a lot of RAM in it. They don't care about RAM when you trade in, which I found interesting. It's all about the. Processor that's in there and the storage. Ram like doesn't even enter the equation. Despite the fact that when they sell it to you, they charge you like sixteen thousand dollars for it. Yeah, I think that's exactly what. Yeah, I think 96 gigs of RAM cost me $16,000, basically. Wow. Well, that sucks. So yeah, I think if you can get away with the private sale I hate doing private sales, but if you can find a way to do it, that would be the way to go. In terms of the actual changeover itself I think it's a good decision. So you're going M4. It's just the M4 base, right? Is that what you said? That's all there is. Yeah, for the air, the M4 is the top of the top. Yeah, and that's what I've got in my Pro, right? Because it's just the M4. Yeah. That's been fine. It is, it's superb. It's so like, I thought my M1, my M1 still feels fast. But the M4 is blazing. I don't think you'll ever notice the difference. Maybe if you're doing rips, like. I got time. Like, if it's 12 minutes slower, I'm going to be okay. Yeah, and it will probably clock slow down because of the no fan. No fan. Like that would probably actually slow it more than the actual. Cause that it has to dedicate to it. And you're doing that so rarely. Yeah, I think honestly, I think an M2 Max and an M4 are kind of on par with each other. Other than the fans, it's really, it's a size decrease, is what I'm looking for, not like a processor upgrade. The processor is fine. Like you said, an M1 is like fine. Yeah. And then the the the air, it's so compact. It's like that little you go back to that little folio thing, you just carry it around so easily. Exactly. You just fling it fling it across the room. Yep. Travel. Travel would be great. It would just shove in there. It weighs two full pounds less than my current one. And you've got an external display, don't you? So you are. It doesn't matter that the screen's not pro-level screen. Here's the thing about that. I'm glad you brought that up. Thank you, Andrew. Okay, so does it have promotion, liquid, XDR, whatever? No, it doesn't. No. But you know what else doesn't that I use 99% of the day, all day, every day? Two studio displays that are locked at 60 frames per second and are also not liquid, retina, whatever the hell. So it really does not matter. No, no, I don't think you'll. I don't think you'll notice that as a problem. I think this is a good decision for you. I'm really glad that you agree because I already actually purchased it about three hours ago. So I went on a hope and a dream that this was going to work out, and it looks like it did. Wow, okay. Well, I'm glad you took my input seriously. migrate or will you start fresh? No, I am going bare bones, full fresh install, reinstalling everything from scratch in the most painful way possible. Starting over because in the Discord, people have been mentioning when they get new computers that Taho seems great. I have been using the computer that has been upgraded upon upgraded upon upgraded, and I have found Tahoe to be a show. So I'm. I'm going to go in just. fresh, brand new, and hope that I have the wonderful experience that these other folks are having with Tahoe. I think yeah, I think it's probably your snow leopard. leftovers that are probably that's probably I have been upgrading since yeah 10. 2 so it's probably time To cut bait and uh move on. Yeah, that's the plan. I think that'll be good. What you will find, the first thing you will find when you boot it up into its fresh display, is you'll realize how garbage the configuration is to begin with. You'll be like, why is this mouse moving so slow? Why are these dock icons so massive? Why do I have freeform in my dock, for goodness sake? And Apple News. That's going to be a lot of customization required. Yeah, but it will be worth it. I hope so. I hope so. That there's so much crap installed that I just don't need anymore. And if I just migrate it, I'm not going to get rid of it. I'm just going to leave it there because it's easier. So let's just start fresh. And it's not even the crap. It's the stuff sitting in application support. Oh, that's where the demons are. Don't go in there. That's dragons there. You don't even want to deal with that. Com dot burk. json. Oh, geez. Don't even don't go in there. Because yeah, best case Nothing happens. Worst case, you delete the wrong thing and the whole thing crashes and you're never coming back. Hey, and the other good news is if you're starting afresh, you might actually have. An installa a Mac installation that doesn't have anything Adobe on it. Oh my gosh, can you imagine? That would be the that's the dream. No com. adobe. com dot anything. Oh Alright, I'm sold. It's still gonna be in there somehow. Somehow, some stupid codec is gonna download or something. God damn it Would you like to run Adobe Air through Java? Ah, damn it! And through Rosetta, while we're at it, Rosetta 1 into Rosetta 2. In to something, why not? That first time you installed Rosette like an app runs that requires Rosetta or whatever, and you're like, Ah, damn it. No, it's that's like a hard nope. Sorry, we're gonna find a different solution. This is not gonna work for me. All right, well there you go. That's uh swapping Max's uh section. So I guess Martin agrees. He's he's uh on board Oh, totally, totally unmoed. The segue to this is: you're looking really sexy today. Well, thank you. Thank you. Would you like to elaborate on that or do you want to just leave that word out? No, no, I'm just going to take that. Yes, I have people who've been listening over the last few months will have heard me talk about soap. Brought to you by Lillipilly Soap. Sopery. Sopery? What's it called? Soap? I think it's a sopery, yeah. Not a soap distillery. Okay. Which I kind of want to call it, but it's just a soy. Anyway. Lily Pilly, I've got to say, I'm I'm impressed. Okay. Of my four soaps, of course, the first one I opened And I've been using has been Sexy Man. Obviously. It called to you. Exactly. It did. It did. And it's a really lovely soap. And the thing is, the it Let me give you the little review. So the lather, it's not a high foam lather, but it's a thick lather. And the soap has a cream element like the colour of the soap is cream, but it also has like a blue purpley swirl through it. And I find that when I'm scrubbing, I'm getting the blue. It almost looks like my arm or my leg or whatever I'm scrubbing is has a blue tinge to it from the soap. Is that the sexy coming out, do you think? Well, well, it could be, because and then you rinse off. The thing it smells, it's it's a subdued smell But it lingers for a long time. So you can be out of the shower for a couple of hours and you can just reach up and yeah, I'm still sexy. Yeah, yeah. All the other ones had pretty descriptive names. of what they would smell like. Um if someone just randomly didn't know what a sexy man smelled like, um how would you How would you describe the the scent that is on you for hours? Well, my the first word that pops into my mind is pheromones. Oh, wow. Okay. It's kind of a woody. I'm sniffing my arm now. I just had a shower a short while ago. Mmm. It's oaky, oakish, woody, smoky, oakish. Okay. It's just damn sexy. It's like, I don't know. Imagine. What's that dude's name that's in all the movies? You seem like a changed man, by the way, like since this soap has happened. Like, you seem. Who's the guy in the movies with the with the with the E in E R and sells Nespresso coffee? Uh George Clooney. Yeah, that guy. So just I smell what people would imagine he smells like. Oh, okay. But he smells like tequila now, doesn't he? Oh, does he? Doesn't he? He doesn't smell like Nespresso anymore. I thought he was doing tequila now. I don't know. Maybe not. Damn it. Maybe maybe coffee tequila. We don't know. Okay. So you're like a George Clooney in Australia. You're okay. Yeah, yeah. So I am a fan of the Sexy Man side. That's all you hear her to hear first. Lily Pilly doing good work. I'm a fan of it, and I haven't even smelled it. But I'm I'm just your your your passion and and and the brightness coming through this call. And it's lasting well. It does even though bar soap has the potential to diminish quickly. This seems to have the good balance between allowing a lather, but then also not just degrading so quickly. Do you have a fancy soap tray for this fancy soap? I bought a fancy soap tray from Lily Pilly. Oh, wow. At the moment, our shower caddy has like a drying rack for a soap bar of soap, so I'm just using that. Wow. Okay. Do you think you'll do you think do you think that maybe you should try it, though? Maybe that'll like amplify the well, maybe maybe I could try it. Yeah, maybe I could use one of the other soaps as like a hand soap by the sink. And then just then I've got my two options. Yeah, it could be like your iPhone sock for your soap, you know? Maybe. We don't know. Amy. So I wonder if Lily Pilly ships internationally. I can't imagine they do. I feel like the amount of money that it would cost to ship a brick of soap would be so incredibly high. Plus tariffs. Oh, soap tariffs gotta be out of out of the yeah, those have to be three hundred percent, probably. Oh, easily, easily, yeah. You you're only you only want American soap. Yeah, we don't want to be importing soap. Oh, what would that would be terrible? Yeah, okay. All right, well, forget that then. I'll just enjoy my soap, my Western Australian soap. I tell you what you could do, though. You could just throw this out there, you could write a letter. To me, and just kind of some thin gossamer shavings of soap into the envelope. And then send that, and then you still get like, you know, the effect. So back to the soap. Is this the only soap of the six that have been tried? Yes, yes. So I've got still no, there's only four. Oh, four something. I didn't go crazy. It's not nuts, no. Okay. But the next one, I think I'm going to do the tobacco one next. That one I'm more concerned about. I'm looking forward to hearing how that goes. If people just are like, hmm, not a good thing. I'm just going to chew it and then spit it out. I think that's how it works. Yeah. It's you kind of go back to like 1865 wild, wild wests, and then you're just you're. Chewing soap, spitting it into a spittoon. But you randomly have a spittoon in your shower now for some reason, just in the corner. We don't know why, but That's that's what this soap does. You're wearing a leather duster into the shower. It's yeah, it's crazy. Okay. All right. Well, I'm glad to hear the soap's working out. I can finally stop hearing people ask me about how the soap is working for you. Oh, I know. The soap is taking the world by storm. It's like a whole thing. Yeah. What do you got next? Well, first of all, I've got to do this. Okay, now moving on to the next topic. You know, you can add those when you do the edit, right? It's easier. I don't even have to edit. I'm just going to ship it. Um. I want to know about this next topic down under soap. Hmm. Oh, the one that says no, you're green. Yeah. It's actually um It's a new thing that I've picked up. It's are you familiar with the NAS, the network attached storage? Of course I am. Sure you are. Are you familiar with a little company called Ugreen? Yeah, they sound like a pharmacy chain. Yeah, I don't know why they're named that. I couldn't tell you, but anyway, I was on a quest. I was either going to get a Synology or a U Green. I put it to the internet and said, Hey, everyone. Vote on this and tell me which one I should get. Unanimously, everybody said you green. Really? Because everybody always, all you ever hear about on podcasts, especially is Synology. Synology. Everyone hates Synology. Nope. Everyone hates Synology now. Apparently, wow, so this is like Drobo level turnaround, yeah. Pretty much. Well, I think what Synology did, you know, just a quick tangent here, um, at one point they were like, hey, We know you like our stuff, but what we're gonna do is just say you can only buy our hard drives now for more than any other hard drive costs. And everybody was like, well, that's bullshit, because that hasn't been the case ever with this kind of product. So this is a clear, you know, lock-in money grab. Then they reverted and were like, oh, actually, I mean, not really, so yet. And it's like, okay, well, we know where your head's at. So, enter you green. who uh makes some lovely hardware. I picked one up. Long story short, I we have you know, we don't use iCloud anymore. We are trying out ProtonDrive. They're the way they share folders in ProtonDrive PSA, Is idiotic and stupid. So don't use them if you ever want to share stuff with people, because it's crap. And so we said, you know what, screw it, we're just going to make our own cloud. We're making our own cloud. I mean, I'm interested in this, but I just want to need to know, did you try either of sync. com or pcloud? Yes, I tried all of them. I think if there was a solution to do some kind of syncing type operation that replaces your iClouds or your Dropboxes, I tried all of them. I tried ownCloud. No, thank you. I tried sync thing. It's fine, but fiddly as hell. So didn't really want to be somewhere where I needed a file and wondering, like, why is my rsync not working with my p list? Or like, I don't. I don't want to deal with that shit. Like, that's fine. It's great. It works. But it's more when it doesn't work that's the problem, right? So, anyway, I tried all those. I tried PCloud. P-Cloud seemed, I guess, fine, but their billing was really weird. Because if you did an individual account, it was pretty straightforward. But then, if you chose a family account, They wanted to charge you just like $700 for a lifetime account instead of yearly or monthly or whatever. So I was like, I don't, I'm not really ready to commit to a random company for $700. Seems weird. Without even like a trial or anything. So I've tried them all and ended up with just, let's just run our own cloud thing. And so I got a little 2B NAS that will do everything we need it to do. And it's been good. I've only had it for a couple of days, but. If anybody has been wondering about like going into setting up your own stuff, this one seems pretty good. Their software is pretty solid. They've only been around for like a year, but already pretty solid. Hardware is great. I'm looking at it right now. Hopefully, you've not been hearing it grind away as it sits next to me while it's setting itself up. No, I haven't in this call whether the The edit will tell the reality. The edit will tell the real crimes here. But yeah, great. It's been a great little device. They're much cheaper than Synology. They work with any drives. They don't care. You can even run other third-party NAS software if you want. If you're like, no, I don't want to run your thing. I want to run free NAS. Like, go for it. They don't care. Like buy the hardware. So I have two questions as the the format of the show dictates. First question, are you using you say you're hearing it grind away? Are you still using spinning Media or are you using solid style drives? I am using s two spinning drives with a SSD cache drive in there. Hmm, okay. Interesting? Okay. And it was purely because the spinning drives were half the cost of the SSDs. Oh, it is heart. I know. Every time you look at it, you're like, ooh, yeah. I got the same issue with my. And it's going to go sit in a corner of the basement that I'm never going to hear, so I don't really care. Second question. Is it does it operate as like a sync service as in an iCloud sort of thing? Or are we talking mounting drives and Relying on tail, scale, and all that kind of stuff. Both. So that was the biggest thing, is I wanted to be able to have a folder on my computer that had all my crap in it that I knew was just syncing to somewhere. And that's what this does exactly that. You can do the whole like normal network drive crap. That's standard. But it does have two-way sync as well. So I can say this folder. Is my cloud folder. I want that to two-way sync in real time with the NAS, regardless of if I'm at home, somewhere else, wherever, and it will do that. So, yes, the answer is yes. And it's not too fiddly. Okay. Okay, that's good. 'Cause that's always it's been a bit of a challenging area, surprisingly often. you know, in my experience. But albeit a long time ago with NASA's. And we're using it for photos as well. So instead of like an iCloud photos, I'm using Their photos solution, which is just folders of photos and it presents nicely in a photos app thing. And we can have shared libraries and all that stuff too. So we're using it for iCloud it's like iCloud Drive plus iCloud Photos kind of in one is what I would compare it to. But doesn't connect to f like the like photos in your like you're using an iPhone or no, so it goes to like their like photo thing. But then your phone syncs to that as well. So anything you take with your phone, it automatically Uploads it to this, and it's all on the same timeline. So it's effectively the same thing. Well, that's quite that's that's interesting. I've been thinking about how I'm so locked in on Apple and the photos library thing. I'm like, oh man, I'm just going to be paying Apple dollars for the rest of my life because I've got nowhere else to put these photos. Yeah, it's. I would say it's not a It's not a solution where I would go out and tell everybody to just switch right now because there's definitely like you need to know what you're doing. But if you're capable of and comfortable with this kind of crap, I think it's Totally fine. And third question, because that's what we do, we ask two and then another one. And then another one, yeah. Do you have that NAS connected to Backblaze? I don't. So that is a good point because the reason I'm using the Mac Pro with a s whatever billion terabytes hanging off the side is because that backs up to Backblaze for free. Whereas a NAS does not. So, currently, what I'm doing is my basically my plan for everything is How do I mirror it back to the Mac Pro so that the Mac Pro can shove it up to Bacblaze? So I'm basically mirroring this whole NAS over to the 60-odd terabytes on the Mac Pro. And how are you doing that? Is it got like an asking? Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. It always comes back to asking. Always, yeah. It's. It's annoy yeah, I don't know why like it's annoying you can't back up a a NAS to back plays when like I'm severely like doing it wrong in terms of their policies, I'm sure, 'cause I have Let's see, 43 terabytes backing up to back plays right now for a flat rate. Wow. Wow. I thought I was doing badly because I've got my my sort of NAS connected to my M one server doing the same thing, my little Mac Mini. A lot of that's it's essentially a NAS, but it's just a thunderbolt. Thunder Bay, yeah. Thunder Bay, yeah. Yeah, and it's backblazing all the time. Thanks, guys. Reports and says your 40 some odd terabytes is backed up. And I go, Thank you very much. Here's your $5 a month. Cool, I love new hardware stories. That's fun. You've had two of them. How's that target of spending less money on your year going, mate? Oh, pretty good. I've sold a bunch of stuff, so I think it offsets. I've removed a lot of stuff from the inventory, so I think I'm okay. Don't forget to update the depreciation spreadsheet. Oh, that's like next on my list. As soon as that new Mac comes in, I'll fire that. spreadsheet right up and get right in there I don't believe you no you shouldn't Okay. It's time for thumbs up because I reckon a couple of my topics might actually go into thumbs up corner. Oh, okay. I'm going to move the we have the board meeting on here. I figured board meetings are usually public, so we should probably do it live for everyone. But Martin's not here to cast his vote. So we should probably move the board meeting to next time. Well, we could just this way we could push through our own agenda. That's true. And he didn't actually submit his like remote voting paperwork. Yeah, yeah, his proxy form. His proxy form. No, he's perks the icon. No, no. This is perfectly fine. I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. He's not been well. I'll move the board meeting to next time. We'll push it. You're welcome, Martin. Thumbs up, Corner. Do you know the amount of it? We gotta file this with the SEC now. We had the date locked in. That's you know, that's just how much we Care about him though, is we're willing to go through that extra bit of paperwork for him. Bureaucracy and administration I'm gonna have to deal with now. It's US paperwork, it's Australian paperwork, there's a whole bunch of paperwork. That's gotta happen. I've gotta fill out yeah, the IRA Roth, whatever it is, and the what's the other one? I don't even know. Who could know? Who's HR again? They should know. That's you, isn't it? Oh, crap. All right. Next topic. I'm finance. You want to do a thumbs up, Corner? Yeah, I do. Because I want to know what your little thing is here. I've got one, and it's fairly quick. Hang on, before we need our transition. Oh. Thumbs up. Thank you. You're welcome. There we go. All right, next topic: thumbs up corner. Okay, so Martin had some stuff on here about lenses. We're pushing that to next time. I have something that is actually related to that. So. KEH. Are you familiar with KEH? Nope. It is I think there's a bunch of these, but they're a company where you can sell your photography gear to them. To kind of offload stuff to get new gear, they sell used gear, etc. Think of it like a, I was gonna say like eBay, but not like eBay, they're not auctions, they're just here's what it costs, go ahead and buy it. So I was looking for a specific lens and I came across one on KEH. I'd never done business with them in the past. I've done business with M PB before, similar company, but never KEH. And so I found their listing and they have ratings for everything. Okay. So it's like new Great, good, less good. Then there's one called bargain. And then there's below that is like basically Good luck is really it's like a for parts kind of thing, right? So bargain is the la the lowest one on their list that they will even acknowledge and support from like a war like we'll warranty this for 180 days, but it's kind of a what you it's a mixed bag. So I found the lens. It had no pictures of the actual item, it had a generic picture and said this is bargain level. Here's the price. The price was great. And I was like, oh, do I gamble? Do I try it? I've never dealt with them. You never know what people's ratings are. Because in my mind, what is good is not what someone else thinks is good, right? So. I went for a gamble and I called him up. Oh, sorry. Why did I call him? That's weird. Who calls an internet website? They do a military discount, but you have to call them for that. So I was like, okay, that's fine. So I called them and I was like, here's the thing I want. It's the bargain level gamble. Took it, sent it to me. And this company is 10 out of 10 because their idea of garbage is like So far above what you would expect as a consumer. I got this lens in the mail, opened it up kind of slowly because I was afraid. And it looks perfectly fine. Everything about it looks great. It didn't have lens caps, which was probably the biggest issue. I don't give a shit. Who cares? That's fine. Yep. But. Glass pristine. Functionality pristine. Shutter count on the lens was, I think it was like 200. So, well, oh, that probably sounds weird. Um the Hasselblad lenses the shutters in the lens instead of the body. So each lens has its own shutter count. Right. But it was like 200. If you're below like 10,000, you're basically brand new. So KEH bargain level was exceeded expectations. Incredible. 10 out of 10. Would absolutely buy from again. Thumbs up. Thumbs up. Okay. Well, I've got a couple of quick thumbs ups. Thumbs it up. First of all, I'm going to go to my second thumbs up and then loop back around. That's how it usually works when you go two and then back to one. Yeah, exactly. So just Earlier before I call, I fired up terminal as I do from time to time. Sure. And I run the command top grade. What is that? It's like y If if if you or anybody else installs stuff with a brew, I do, um, it's basically a way it it's You know how you can do brew update, brew upgrade, brew cleanup as commands to like pull in all the latest versions of everything? You just do top grade. And Topgrade just does all of that. Brew TopGrade or just TopGrade? Well, you'll have to you'll have to install TopGrade with Brew. So Brew install TopGrade And then just top grade. Not even brew top grade, just top grade. Okay. And it even prompts you to install system updates if you want to. So it goes right through. And it's just it's just fun. I like doing it because I like just watching all these upgrades come through and then it firing across the terminal and seeing all the updates happen. It's pretty cool. I feel like the girl in Jurassic Park when she's coding in Unix. Oh, yeah. You know, it makes you feel like a real real hacker. Okay. Elite hacker. I always do brew outdated, so I can see the list of what's going to get upgraded. I don't really care, but for some reason I like to know, like, I'm going to do anything about it. I'm not, but I don't know. I like to see it. So it just goes and just says, like, boop, you're done. You're upgraded. Yeah. Okay. Just one stop shop. So thumbs up, top grade if you use brew. And you should use brew because it's quite good. The other thumbs up, new course from our friend, Johnny Decimal. Friend of the show. Friend of the show. Friend of the Discord. We love him. He's got a new product out. And I had to give this a shout out because he's focusing on the use of or on projects and tasks. Now, if there is anything Right up my alley. Sold. It's it's projects and tasks. Yeah, I was I go to my work, and sometimes I try to explain to people how I work That doesn't usually go over very well, does it? No, no. I talk about how I have everything as a project. And there's tasks within those projects and those tasks are tagged. And then when you send a task off, you don't just tick it as done, you mark it as waiting for Yeah. With a due date of a month, a week from then, so then you can follow up. I've never had that conversation go well. It's always been, but I just have everything in my email and then I just kind of shrivel up and die. Yeah. I am the same. I am the same. I try and and I I think I I would like that people to realize this is a superior way of working. Clearly, I'm a terrible educator in that regard because everybody just looks at me like a weirdo. I'm hoping that Johnny Decimal's course has a more humanistic approach to what I would probably achieve. But I wanted to give it a shout out. He does focus on the use of things in this course. So it's probably not for me, ironically, because I'm such an omni-focused guy. But, Jason burk, I know you're a fan of things. Uh, no. Oh. I don't use IOS anymore, so it doesn't really work for me No, but it's on Mac OS. Things are on macOS. But I need my tasks everywhere. You know this. So what are you using? Ticket. It's a different stuff to do. Oh, yeah, I've been on TikTok for like a year now. Yeah, yeah. All right. Fine. You could try working on Johnny and maybe you can get him to Convert some language over to OmniFocus. Speaking of OmniFocus, he should subcontract it to me. All of the Macs in the Apple Store have like OmniFocus on them. Did you know that? Yeah. No. And things, ironically, they have both. Wow, they're going to get confused. Not going to go where their tasks live. They're not. No, it was very. I haven't looked at a Mac in a store in a while, and the default stuff on there is very interesting. It's affinity stuff, Microsoft stuff, of course. Omni stuff and then things is on there. And then there was a couple others that I didn't recognize. There was like a weird time tracking one that I'm not sure about, but Yeah, OmniFocus is like front and center recommended apps on the Macs in the store. As it should be. As it should be. It's a great piece of software. I still swear by it. I didn't see any decimal systems in the filing system though. So there's still we still have room to go. So yeah, good on, Johnny. Keep up the good work, mate. I do remember one of his earlier videos where he was talking about how the system started and his I th I th I I'm gonna butcher the story, but it was vaguely like his boss was like complaining about something and he like Popped up and was like, I can help you with that, with this system. And I think they just were kind of like, Yeah, yeah, whatever. And it was just it was a funny anecdote that he had in one of his like early things. So, and also his new thing that's called I'm also going to butcher this, but it's like Be Better at Computer or something like that, which I just love the title. I think it's really funny. It's a good, good title. So. Yeah. Good job, Johnny. Did you buy any Black Friday software? I bought a Game on Steam, and I think that was basically it. I don't, I don't really need any software. There's nothing that I need at this point. I kind of have everything, you know? Yeah. Like, I don't have a lot of problems that aren't solved at this point when it comes to computer. No, I get that. I've been in a similar boat. Not that I don't want to. I don't want to like, I don't want to put it like I'm not, you know. I'm going to go buy software I'm never going to use. I do that all the time. Like, let's be clear: there's a million apps that I get that I've never touched just because I thought, you know, I had aspirational I'm going to go change the world with this software. But no, recently, I don't think there's been anything. Yeah, no, I bought a couple. I bought Velja. Which is that browser chooser theme? Yeah, yeah. With the little cat thing. Yeah, I used another one ages ago. I probably have a license for it. I couldn't find it. I couldn't even remember what it was called. So I was like, stuff it. I'll just get this one. That one seems good. I used it for a little I tried the trial. It seemed pretty good. Yeah, yeah. And it was, it looked good. It was $12. I think 'cause Nick was looking for one of those recently. Yeah, hang on, I gotta let somebody in the front door. Oh, who is it? Do you wanna do you wanna have them on the show? Delivery? Maybe. I'm just looking at a piano. It was Willis. Who? Willis. Oh, hi, Willis. Do they want to be on the show or do they have a thumbs up? No. No. No, he's just walked off. He's um. Yeah. Can't be fine. He's one of the additional children I now have in my life with all my change of Relationships. So Velja, Velj Velja. Velja. Yep. I don't know if that's how you pronounce it. Maybe it's Velia. I don't know. And then I also bought Stop the Madness Pro. I've had Stop the Madness non-pro for ages. And it's like I just thought, oh, why not? Just get the pro. Give this guy some money. What is it? It's a browser extension, and it's sort of you know all the sort of the things that happen on websites where they prevent right clicking, they do click hijacking. Oh, yeah. Like, they don't let you fill forms incorrectly, it's like you know, 'cause yeah, it fixes a lot of that stuff. kind of thing or yeah yeah yeah so originally there was a there was a version that was just stop the madness And then I think he realized he was missing out on that sweet, sweet cache. So he upgraded it to Stop the Madness Pro. Do you think we'll ever be able to stop the Madness? Nah, nah, madness is here for good. Yeah. Um and then I just bought uh Time Flies for PlayStation, which is made by the um Panic people. Yeah. Okay. And uh I've I've just played it for 20 minutes before our call. It's kind of infuriating. Perfect. And that is a glowing review. Kind of infuriating. I what did I buy? I you mentioned the game you just bought. I'm opening Steam, and now Steam is updating. So that's gonna take longer. It updates every time you launch it. Extracting package, installing package, cleaning up, closing the app, reopening the app. And it's not here yet. Oh, allow Steam Helper to find devices on the local networks? Well, of course. Probably, since it already could do that. Thanks, Tahoe. Going to library, Mac Games. Terra Nil is the name of the game I bought on sale. It is You're basically turning the the landscape from, you know, apocalyptic nothing back into kind of a a livable area. So it's it's You can go like super easy, that resources don't matter, just play, or you can go to like hardcore engineer mode. Where you gotta build like complex machines to do it. So it's interesting. I like it. It can be both a challenging SimCity kind of thing or a just like I just need to chill out and like watch some pretty stuff for a while. So you got both. Yep. There you go. Terra Nell. Thumbs up! Thumbs up! There we go, we have done it again. Anything? Martin's been quiet. Anything from you, Martin? Do you have any? Any input to the show, or are you just kind of hanging out? Just hanging out. Just hanging out. Okay. Well, thanks. Thanks for joining us today, Martin, for this episode 151. We really appreciated your input. You're welcome. Yeah, that spot. It's like he was here. Oh, I love that. I think that's it for 151. Is that it? We're at 53. 53. 24. So, yeah, I think we're done now. Can we count that out? Actually, I'm not going to edit it because we've done all our ingestitials. I can just ship this thing. You might want to give it a once over. What would Martin do if we I just did that? I don't want to know. I Very worried about that kind of thing. Can you imagine? You imagine what would he do if I didn't edit it. He would. I just released that. I don't. I would fear for your life as well as just the livelihood of Perth in general, and probably all of Western Australia. So maybe I would if I were you, I don't want to, you know, tell you what to do, but I would give I would give it a what's over. Okay, okay. I'll give it a I'll give it a once. Maybe two-thirds over. Yeah, yeah, at least a two-thirds would be good. Yeah, okay. Well, shall we? Cool, man. Let's call it. All right. Counts down. Six, five, four, three, two, one. Stop.
