- 0:06Speaker 1: Hello, my love. First of all, I want to apologize
- 0:09Speaker 1: for my voice being way it is. My sweet little
- 0:13Speaker 1: Ocean is sick and she handed it down to me,
- 0:18Speaker 1: so is the voice. Is my voice annoying?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Right now?
- 0:21Speaker 3: I don't think it's annoying. I think it's kind of cool.
- 0:23Speaker 3: It's like the Miley cyrus esque voice. Oh yeah, like
- 0:27Speaker 3: the rasp I love when I'm sick because of that,
- 0:30Speaker 3: because I have such like a screechy, high pitched voice
- 0:33Speaker 3: that when I'm sick, I feel so cool.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Kind of brings it down.
- 0:35Speaker 1: All yeah, I love that. So today I'm really excited
- 0:39Speaker 1: because it's a voicemail kind of podcast day.
- 0:43Speaker 4: M hmm.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I was like this voice. I canceled our guest because
- 0:48Speaker 1: I just this voice is fucking with me. Yeah, and
- 0:53Speaker 1: I feel like it is, and I feel like I'm
- 0:55Speaker 1: in my head and if I have a guest on,
- 0:57Speaker 1: I'm like, I want to be present with what you're saying.
- 1:00Speaker 1: All I can really think about right now is the
- 1:02Speaker 1: fact that like it's taking a lot out of me
- 1:04Speaker 1: to like even.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah, and we have a lot of great voicemails too.
- 1:08Speaker 3: We need to catch up people still mentioning like the
- 1:11Speaker 3: dating app stuff that you talked about people asking about
- 1:15Speaker 3: your life lately, people asking about your dating life. We've
- 1:18Speaker 3: got a ton, yeah, so it's.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Gonna be a ton.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I went to my trainer slash dear friend's birthday yesterday.
- 1:26Speaker 3: So fun. How was it?
- 1:27Speaker 1: It was so much fun? You know me, Jess, I like,
- 1:32Speaker 1: rarely do anything.
- 1:33Speaker 3: You never go out, Like I saw it on her
- 1:36Speaker 3: stories this past weekend, guys that La La is out
- 1:38Speaker 3: and I knew she had a birthday party to go to,
- 1:40Speaker 3: which she was like, I don't know if i'll I'll
- 1:43Speaker 3: be feeling up to going. And then I walked in
- 1:45Speaker 3: and I was like, you went to the birthday party.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I was so excited for you.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Everyone knows that if I commit to something, there's a
- 1:52Speaker 1: ninety eight percent chance that I will cancel, okay, because
- 1:56Speaker 1: I'm just I'm a homebody. And then you know, I
- 1:59Speaker 1: don't like leaving ocean. It's just mom guilt is real,
- 2:04Speaker 1: And I think that's actually a question that I want
- 2:06Speaker 1: to ask when for my mommy's out there, When after
- 2:09Speaker 1: you guys had a baby, did you have mom guilt?
- 2:14Speaker 1: And if so, when did it ease up? Because I
- 2:17Speaker 1: know my mom. I was like two.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Weeks old, and she like took off.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I love, and I'll say, like, yesterday, I was like
- 2:27Speaker 1: because I went to the birthday and I didn't know
- 2:30Speaker 1: how long I would be gone because it was in Malibuka,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and my mom was like, she's not gonna remember.
- 2:38Speaker 2: No.
- 2:39Speaker 1: She's like, do you remember me leaving you? I said no,
- 2:42Speaker 1: not at all, and like the amount of love I
- 2:44Speaker 1: have for my mom, I'm.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Like, all right, it's fine, We'll be fine. So the
- 2:47Speaker 3: birthday was fun, would you guys.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Do We went to winery okay, and then we went
- 2:55Speaker 1: to a Greek restaurant. It was fantastic, I'll say though,
- 3:01Speaker 1: and I hope that they don't get mad at me
- 3:03Speaker 1: for this winer eight. So we're sitting there and it's
- 3:08Speaker 1: before we go on the.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Tour and the wine tour okay.
- 3:12Speaker 1: The tour guide was talking. I don't know how it
- 3:16Speaker 1: got brought up, but someone said something about a giraffe
- 3:21Speaker 1: and I, you know, this is my first time going in.
- 3:24Speaker 1: My ears kind of perked up and I said, what's
- 3:25Speaker 1: the reason for the animals?
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:28Speaker 1: And she goes just because why not? And I go
- 3:33Speaker 1: because I don't think giraffes belong in that's why not. Yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 1: and she goes, well, we don't have him anymore. He's
- 3:42Speaker 1: in Texas, so me, I hopefully he's happier there. And
- 3:45Speaker 1: I go, mmmm, I don't think Texas.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Is where giraffe should be either.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I was like, I'm sorry, I'm an animal activist, so yeah,
- 3:51Speaker 1: I don't mean to put you on this spot. It
- 3:53Speaker 1: was very uncomfortable. I'm bolted. I'm shocked.
- 3:57Speaker 3: This is obviously the first time I'm hearing about it.
- 3:59Speaker 3: That was the wrong person to say that in.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Front of the bolted.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But there was a guy there, my friend's husband who's
- 4:07Speaker 1: from South Africa, and he was like, I agree with you.
- 4:10Speaker 1: M like, I agree with what you're saying. I just
- 4:14Speaker 1: don't think she was prepared to answer that. I was like, right,
- 4:16Speaker 1: we live in Los Angeles. You should definitely be prepared
- 4:19Speaker 1: for someone to ask you what's the reasoning.
- 4:22Speaker 3: And also, uh oh, let's give you the benefit of
- 4:25Speaker 3: the dough and assume you think that drabs exist in Texas. Naturally,
- 4:31Speaker 3: we're just gonna let you know they don't know.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And but but she did say and by the way,
- 4:37Speaker 1: this tour guide had nothing to do with you know,
- 4:39Speaker 1: she just worked there yeah, it's not responsible for right
- 4:42Speaker 1: what animals are on the property, right. She said they
- 4:46Speaker 1: don't have anything now except for like Lama's alpacas donkeys.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And I was like, okay, that's that's fine. Yeah, I'll fine.
- 4:55Speaker 3: So you, I know we've talked about this before a little,
- 4:58Speaker 3: but is it annoying being on a wine tour and
- 5:02Speaker 3: you don't drink or were you like, no, this is great.
- 5:05Speaker 1: It's just so a part of my life now. Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Like and there was another girl there who she's not sober,
- 5:13Speaker 1: but she doesn't drink, okay. And then there was another
- 5:16Speaker 1: girl who showed up to dinner. She had been in
- 5:18Speaker 1: the she's been in the program for a decade.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So just at this point, Jess, it's just like I
- 5:25Speaker 1: show up places and it's it's not even a thing.
- 5:28Speaker 3: It's not a thing, like you could still have fun.
- 5:30Speaker 3: It wasn't like, yan, I'm on this wine tour, I'm bored.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I need to go do something else. No, oh that's good.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I got a cup and they had like pellegrino. Yeah yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 1: and I was drinking cambucha and then someone went to
- 5:44Speaker 1: hand it to me. Yeah. After I had been drinking
- 5:47Speaker 1: it and you know, I needed a lot of help
- 5:49Speaker 1: getting up and down the off the jeep because it
- 5:52Speaker 1: was a big drop. Now boobs are newly done. Oh yes, yes, yes, okay.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So someone was holding my drink and then they handed
- 5:58Speaker 1: it back to me and said, here's your apples side
- 6:00Speaker 1: vinegar water, and I was like, I don't want it anymore.
- 6:04Speaker 3: That's actually exactly that's what it is. That is do
- 6:07Speaker 3: you like I call it kombucha. You call it kambucha.
- 6:10Speaker 3: That's I don't know what it's called. Do you like it?
- 6:12Speaker 1: I hate it?
- 6:12Speaker 3: Love it? I love it. I could drink it every day.
- 6:15Speaker 1: But you know, when you're out and about, like doing
- 6:17Speaker 1: things like a wine tour, you're like sure, Like, can
- 6:20Speaker 1: I tell you every time we stopped at a new
- 6:23Speaker 1: little area on the winery and they would try new wines,
- 6:25Speaker 1: I would drink something different. Oh I like that. Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So like at one stop I had.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Like regular pellegrina. Yeah, next it was like.
- 6:33Speaker 1: The sand Pellegrino grape.
- 6:38Speaker 3: You know what that makes me think wine tours should
- 6:41Speaker 3: offer just a non alcoholic version of like very interesting whatever.
- 6:48Speaker 3: If it's grape juice, these are the grapes from this region.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I think that would be really cool.
- 6:53Speaker 1: No, I think it would be too, because people not
- 6:56Speaker 1: drinking is becoming like a big thing because people like
- 7:00Speaker 1: have problems. I think people are just becoming aware of like,
- 7:04Speaker 1: this isn't good for me, right, so I'm not going
- 7:07Speaker 1: to partake in it.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Well it's not enjoy But like Kyle doesn't drink, and
- 7:11Speaker 3: he's not he never had a problem, he's not. He
- 7:14Speaker 3: doesn't call himself sober, but he just doesn't drink. He's like,
- 7:16Speaker 3: why even if I'm saying, Okay, I guess I'll have one,
- 7:19Speaker 3: He's like, I feel like shit, yeah, Like what's the point?
- 7:21Speaker 3: What's the point? Yeah?
- 7:23Speaker 1: You know what though, hmm. The only time and I
- 7:27Speaker 1: don't feel triggered to drink, it's just when I go, oh,
- 7:30Speaker 1: I remember, and that that was fun. This moment. I
- 7:32Speaker 1: remember when I used to be a drinker. This moment
- 7:35Speaker 1: was fun the very first drink because everyone's still normal. Yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but then they start feeling warm and you notice like
- 7:43Speaker 1: their personalities get a little like.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Get a little more giddy, and they're loosening up.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yeah. And then you get to the end of it
- 7:50Speaker 1: and everyone looks like fucked up, And I'm like, and
- 7:54Speaker 1: this is where I this was not the fun part.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, this is. And that's I heard. I think
- 8:01Speaker 3: I saw this on Flight Attendant, that show about the
- 8:05Speaker 3: pink cloud, because I've heard you talk about it, but
- 8:07Speaker 3: I guess I didn't really know what it was.
- 8:09Speaker 1: We talk about the pink cloud on.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah, because that character is spoiler alert. It's not really
- 8:14Speaker 3: spoiler you kind of know. But she is sober this season. Okay,
- 8:17Speaker 3: so she goes to AA and she talks about and
- 8:21Speaker 3: I think they talk about it where they say something
- 8:23Speaker 3: about like, oh, you're on the pink cloud. Eventually you're
- 8:27Speaker 3: gonna feel comfortable enough to say I've mastered this, I've
- 8:29Speaker 3: got it. Yeah, and you're gonna have one drink and
- 8:32Speaker 3: then you're gonna forget it from there. You're not you
- 8:34Speaker 3: can't just have one drink. And it's called the pink cloud.
- 8:37Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, that's that's interesting. I'm sure
- 8:40Speaker 3: people get to that, like, oh my god, I'm fine,
- 8:42Speaker 3: I've mastered it. I can have a drink.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Well, when you first venture into sobriety, yeah, you do
- 8:47Speaker 1: sit on a pink cloud. It's like this is amazing.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I feel so great. But then as time goes on
- 8:53Speaker 1: and you see, you forget why you chose sobriety, and
- 8:58Speaker 1: you're like, I don't have a problem. Look how long
- 9:00Speaker 1: I've gone without a drink, Like I can have one,
- 9:02Speaker 1: And then before you know it, your shit faced daily
- 9:07Speaker 1: and you find yourself back in a meeting with twenty
- 9:09Speaker 1: four hours under your belt, and it's just like, yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 1: worth it. Yeah, I feel like I'm still on the
- 9:15Speaker 1: pink cloud a little bit, you do.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Well.
- 9:17Speaker 1: My sponsor tells me that I'm not on the pink
- 9:19Speaker 1: cloud anymore, because the pink cloud doesn't last three and
- 9:24Speaker 1: a half and some change. Yeah. Years, Maybe it does, though,
- 9:28Speaker 1: who knows. Yeah, but I love my sobriety.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Maybe you feel like you're on it because you keep it.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Maybe the reason changes, like at first you did it.
- 9:36Speaker 3: You did it before you got pregnant, so I bet
- 9:38Speaker 3: the reason then was different, and now your reason is
- 9:41Speaker 3: probably at the very least ocean is added to that,
- 9:45Speaker 3: you know, So maybe it changes as like you keep
- 9:48Speaker 3: refreshing the reason for why you're staying sober, and it
- 9:51Speaker 3: makes you, I don't know, filled with like some sort
- 9:53Speaker 3: of like this is why I'm doing it?
- 9:55Speaker 1: You know? Can I tell you?
- 9:56Speaker 4: Though?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Every time I think about drinking, not me like picking up.
- 10:02Speaker 1: But when the thought of like just drinks, right, yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 1: I always go into this state of like, oh the
- 10:11Speaker 1: part where you wake up the next day. Just the
- 10:14Speaker 1: thought of that is enough to keep me somewhere for
- 10:16Speaker 1: the rest of my life.
- 10:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so depressing.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Depressing and also like I look back at when I
- 10:23Speaker 3: was heavily drinking in college, my face so swollen, like
- 10:27Speaker 3: I was like what, And I would work out religiously,
- 10:31Speaker 3: like to an unhealthy point. I don't even work out
- 10:33Speaker 3: as close to that much anymore, and I love it.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I just feel better. But I would work out religiously,
- 10:38Speaker 3: eat healthy, and I still had that. I always looked puffy.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Same wild and my eyes were always glazed over. Yeah weird,
- 10:46Speaker 1: gross all right, now that we ventured into sobriety, that
- 10:51Speaker 1: took a weird turn, I know, but it was just
- 10:53Speaker 1: always goes back into sobriety. It does when I talk
- 10:56Speaker 1: about going anywhere.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's just interesting.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I asked you that.
- 11:00Speaker 3: It's just interesting because you know, I see me and
- 11:03Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't think I could go on a
- 11:04Speaker 3: wine tour and not drink.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'd be bored. So then I you you're normy. You
- 11:08Speaker 1: should go on a wine tour and drink and drink.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Yes, what you're supposed to do. Yeah, but it's just
- 11:13Speaker 3: nice that like you can go and not be bored.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Well, the thing is is it was so beautiful. The
- 11:18Speaker 1: grounds were so gorgeous that it's like I don't need
- 11:21Speaker 1: to it's so pretty as is like I'm not here
- 11:25Speaker 1: for the alcohol. I'm here for the fucking scenery. It's stunning,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and for the friends and like, oh, the company was fantastic. Yeah,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I so needed that energy.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Was it all women? Because I saw a lot of women,
- 11:39Speaker 3: but you said.
- 11:39Speaker 1: There was a guy, a lot of chicks, okay, And
- 11:42Speaker 1: then Jenna brought her boyfriend, Ansley, who's so sweet, and
- 11:48Speaker 1: then there were I think three other dudes who were
- 11:53Speaker 1: partners of her friends, who were also so sweet. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: one of the guys he was like, I think we
- 11:58Speaker 1: should go around and say what we love about Jenna,
- 12:02Speaker 1: and I was like, this is just such a good
- 12:05Speaker 1: group of people.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's great.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I had one of the most amazing times that I've
- 12:11Speaker 1: had in a very long time.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I love that for you because you and I are
- 12:16Speaker 3: the same. And where like if I get invited somewhere
- 12:19Speaker 3: or there's like a birthday party or I know that
- 12:22Speaker 3: there's like I've pushed off this, like go to get
- 12:25Speaker 3: drinks with a friend for weeks and I'm like, I
- 12:27Speaker 3: have to go. I'm always I mean, this is just
- 12:29Speaker 3: gonna be honest, the introverted me, I'm not looking forward
- 12:31Speaker 3: to it. Okay, that's just how it is, because it
- 12:34Speaker 3: takes a lot of energy out of me. And ninety
- 12:37Speaker 3: nine percent of the time, I'm so glad I went.
- 12:39Speaker 3: And I feel like, you know, like I go and
- 12:43Speaker 3: I'm not looking forward to it. And then I like
- 12:45Speaker 3: talk to a friend or I hang out with people
- 12:47Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh, yeah, this isn't so bad.
- 12:49Speaker 1: You know, yes, and you're so happy that you went.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Yes, And so I'm really glad you went. I think
- 12:54Speaker 3: that's great.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Yeah, and everyone it was so and I like people
- 12:57Speaker 1: who drink adult like mm hmm. So, like we went
- 13:01Speaker 1: to the winery, they all were, you know, participating in
- 13:05Speaker 1: the drinking of the wine. By the time we got
- 13:07Speaker 1: to dinner, everyone's eyes were you know, everyone was like
- 13:11Speaker 1: sobering up. But it was like we've been drinking and
- 13:13Speaker 1: everyone was drinking like hot mint tea at and the
- 13:17Speaker 1: guy the waiter is like, it's a birthday. Does anyone
- 13:20Speaker 1: want a cocktail? Everyone's like no, No. I was like,
- 13:23Speaker 1: this is my vibe.
- 13:24Speaker 3: That's yes. You know, adult drinkers are very different from
- 13:28Speaker 3: you know, the all day drinkers, and it's nice.
- 13:31Speaker 1: It is nice. I wouldn't know anything about that. We
- 13:35Speaker 1: will take a short break and we gaped it. When
- 13:38Speaker 1: we come back. I've got your voicemails are back, Jess.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Can you play me a voicemail please? Yes.
- 13:51Speaker 5: My name is Taylor. I love your podcast. I just
- 13:58Speaker 5: try question for you about the guss find. We have
- 14:03Speaker 5: not seen them or heard from them in a while,
- 14:05Speaker 5: and I just wanted to sow when you were going
- 14:08Speaker 5: to have them back. They are wonderful and are always
- 14:11Speaker 5: put the fun and I just said that you just
- 14:14Speaker 5: revamped your podcast to a newer, better podcast, and I
- 14:18Speaker 5: just think that is the fun episode and I look
- 14:22Speaker 5: forward to potentially possibly hearing them have a great day byebye.
- 14:28Speaker 1: That one makes me sad. One of my gusbands got
- 14:34Speaker 1: a new job, which was great, and then it just
- 14:39Speaker 1: I don't know what happened, but he just decided that
- 14:43Speaker 1: my other gusband was not who he wanted in his
- 14:46Speaker 1: life right now. Okay, very weird.
- 14:51Speaker 4: I don't like it.
- 14:52Speaker 1: But they're not talking right now, and it's very strange,
- 14:57Speaker 1: and I want to shake the one guysband and be like,
- 14:59Speaker 1: what a are you doing?
- 15:00Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I don't see them being on the podcast together anytime soon.
- 15:04Speaker 4: I mean, they haven't even spoken.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Maybe they can hash it out on the podcast. Maybe
- 15:08Speaker 3: we can trick them and have them both over.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I think at this point in time that would not
- 15:13Speaker 1: be a good call because I'm on my one gusband's
- 15:16Speaker 1: side and I have a real issue with the gusband
- 15:20Speaker 1: who got a new job and went into some weird
- 15:23Speaker 1: fucking spiral of what he wants his life to look like.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Here's my question, not knowing, I really don't know a
- 15:30Speaker 3: lot about this. You guys are really anything at all?
- 15:32Speaker 3: But is do you think it's just a phase like
- 15:35Speaker 3: people go through phases.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I do think it's a phase, okay, but when you're
- 15:38Speaker 1: a grown ass person mm hm, this type of phase,
- 15:43Speaker 1: I don't have time for it right It's weird.
- 15:46Speaker 3: And you don't think right now like he's probably wouldn't
- 15:48Speaker 3: even be open to hearing anyone.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I'm just guessing no, And honestly, if you were to
- 15:53Speaker 1: listen to this, he would probably call me and be like,
- 15:55Speaker 1: I didn't know you felt that way, because I just
- 15:57Speaker 1: I know if I were to text him right now,
- 15:58Speaker 1: I would not be kind. Mmm, I would not be
- 16:01Speaker 1: kind at all. Yeah. I love them both. And just
- 16:04Speaker 1: like my one gusband said, when he snaps out of
- 16:07Speaker 1: it and he comes back around, who's gonna be there
- 16:10Speaker 1: to like pick him up? Right? The two of us will.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And that's very true.
- 16:15Speaker 3: So there's the update on the gusbands, not as positive
- 16:19Speaker 3: but as.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Maybe you all makes me so sad.
- 16:22Speaker 3: But I truly think because I've seen obviously the gusbands together,
- 16:26Speaker 3: I've seen Lalla and the gusbands together, they're like, to me, unbreakable.
- 16:31Speaker 3: So it's not like it's the end of an era.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I hope. Not because I told him, I said, I
- 16:37Speaker 1: don't know what's going on, but I feel like my
- 16:39Speaker 1: parents are getting divorced. Yeah, like, you guys got to
- 16:42Speaker 1: figure it out.
- 16:43Speaker 3: It's just a thing. It's just a face, I hope.
- 16:46Speaker 1: So I think he's lost his spark.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't want that.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I mean, I'll be here. I'm very forgiving.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Lala will be here. The other gusband will be here.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Okay, what's my next one?
- 16:57Speaker 3: Next one?
- 16:59Speaker 2: Hey, I was just listening to your most recent podcast.
- 17:03Speaker 2: And this isn't a question but a recommendation for Lalla
- 17:08Speaker 2: and Ocean. There is a place called the Gentle Barn
- 17:12Speaker 2: about thirty to forty minutes north of La and Samaquarita
- 17:16Speaker 2: that I highly recommend you guys going to. You can
- 17:20Speaker 2: take the baby. It is the sweetest place where they
- 17:24Speaker 2: rescue animals from the food industry. They have cows that
- 17:28Speaker 2: you can hug, and pets and pigs and chickens. It's
- 17:32Speaker 2: just like the most sweetest place and it's not too
- 17:36Speaker 2: much money, and it's for such an amazing cause. So
- 17:39Speaker 2: and there's also a place quote Farm Sanctuary, but the
- 17:41Speaker 2: Gentle Barn is the most sweetest place. I highly recommend it.
- 17:46Speaker 2: My name is Stephanie and love listening to you guys.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I want to go to the Gentle Barn.
- 17:52Speaker 3: They rescue them from the food industry. I love that
- 17:57Speaker 3: in Ocean would be BESI herself do anything.
- 18:01Speaker 1: She would love it. Can I tell you something? So
- 18:06Speaker 1: because we talked about the giraffe being in Malibu or whatever,
- 18:10Speaker 1: and I say I'm an animal activist. Yeah, I don't
- 18:17Speaker 1: love meat. It just I've just never really loved meat.
- 18:23Speaker 1: But I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian. Like there
- 18:28Speaker 1: are moments where I definitely have eaten meat, do eat meat.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I really want to not eat meat right now. It's
- 18:38Speaker 1: just a part of like it's like, oh, that looks good,
- 18:40Speaker 1: I'll eat it, right I don't want to do that anymore,
- 18:46Speaker 1: right you want to?
- 18:46Speaker 3: That's a really great goal, And what I've heard is
- 18:50Speaker 3: a small step you can make if you don't want
- 18:52Speaker 3: to or can't for some health reasons or whatever, become
- 18:57Speaker 3: a vegetarian or a vegan. I do know that if
- 19:00Speaker 3: you buy again, this is a not a luxury but
- 19:06Speaker 3: a privilege because it's usually a little more expensive. But
- 19:10Speaker 3: if you buy, if you are in the space in
- 19:14Speaker 3: your life to buy like grass fed cow, which they
- 19:18Speaker 3: sell it like normal grocery stores, but grass fed or
- 19:21Speaker 3: organic beef, or for the chickens, pasture raised eggs, because
- 19:28Speaker 3: I've heard that cage free is basically like just the
- 19:33Speaker 3: same as normal. Pasture raised is the key words you're
- 19:37Speaker 3: looking for, and that's like they actually let the chickens
- 19:40Speaker 3: out legally. They have to run around in a grass
- 19:43Speaker 3: area and then like you know, free range, grass fed
- 19:48Speaker 3: beef and stuff. Again, I know a lot of vegetarians
- 19:50Speaker 3: and vegans will be like, you should just give it up.
- 19:52Speaker 3: It's not that hard. But if you're trying to make
- 19:54Speaker 3: a small step, id I have heard that's I try
- 19:58Speaker 3: and do that because.
- 19:59Speaker 1: It's just like, don't even enjoy even enjoy it. It's
- 20:02Speaker 1: just when you go and order things for some reason,
- 20:04Speaker 1: it's just like we're we're programmed to just like eat meat,
- 20:09Speaker 1: Like here's a chicken taco, here's a beef taco. Like
- 20:13Speaker 1: we weren't. We didn't come into this world and have
- 20:16Speaker 1: it where you roll up in a restaurant and it's
- 20:18Speaker 1: like veggie taco. That's definitely a part of the menu now, right.
- 20:23Speaker 1: But like the other night I went to a Mexican
- 20:25Speaker 1: food joint and I got, oh my god, it was
- 20:29Speaker 1: so good. Yes, what was it? It was a mushroom
- 20:33Speaker 1: taco and it was so bombed.
- 20:36Speaker 3: I bet you're to be like, I got a chicken
- 20:38Speaker 3: taco and.
- 20:39Speaker 1: It was so mushroom taco.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Please call Candela on Libreak. And they have corn tacos.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Corn tacos.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah, just corn taco Wednesdays, yum. Oh my god, mushroom taco.
- 20:54Speaker 3: You can do a lot with mushroom and Jackfrew, I
- 20:57Speaker 3: love a black bean and rice taco.
- 20:59Speaker 1: See. So so it's just getting myself to just go
- 21:03Speaker 1: that direction and just switch the way that I've been
- 21:07Speaker 1: programmed because I don't fucking enjoy meat that much. And
- 21:10Speaker 1: then when I go into all of this stuff about
- 21:12Speaker 1: like how he cares so much about certain like all
- 21:15Speaker 1: these animals. But then it's like I look at a
- 21:16Speaker 1: count and I'm like, I love that cow and I've
- 21:19Speaker 1: eaten one of them. Yeah, that makes me sick stomach.
- 21:23Speaker 3: And perpetuating the the yeah, I know she Jamie Lynn
- 21:27Speaker 3: talked about it, but perpetuating like the industry where kows
- 21:31Speaker 3: are just basically shoved it next to each other and
- 21:33Speaker 3: can't move.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Oh my god, it makes me sick to I have
- 21:37Speaker 1: to make a change.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah, But there are like you know, and I've heard
- 21:40Speaker 3: like I've heard again, don't know this for a fact,
- 21:43Speaker 3: Eating too much like tofu and soy is also not
- 21:48Speaker 3: good for you. But there's so many hours in moderation.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Right.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I think a kid died from drinking too much water,
- 21:54Speaker 1: like years ago.
- 21:54Speaker 3: You could drown from drinking too much literally right.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It was like a yeah, is it an initiation for
- 21:59Speaker 1: like a f oh what it is? Yes, initially they
- 22:02Speaker 1: had to they had him drink a certain amount of
- 22:06Speaker 1: water and he like literally died because.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Well that's hazing, hazy. Yes, you can drink too much water.
- 22:12Speaker 3: You can drown in in a centimeter of water. And
- 22:15Speaker 3: they mean that by you can over hydration. I used
- 22:18Speaker 3: to see it in school sports all the time, such
- 22:20Speaker 3: a real thing. People pass out they're overhydrated because they
- 22:24Speaker 3: know they have I saw it in track a lot.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I would watch the track meets in my school and
- 22:28Speaker 3: we had this one girl who had to go to
- 22:31Speaker 3: the hospital and was like in really bad condition, was
- 22:33Speaker 3: there for three days because she was over hydrated. Yeah,
- 22:37Speaker 3: so everything in moderation, I get it, But there are
- 22:41Speaker 3: how did we get on? Oh the farm? The farm there,
- 22:46Speaker 3: it is the Gentle Barn and it's an in Santa Clarita.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Going, I love that taking ocean immediately, what's the next voicemail?
- 22:57Speaker 6: Okay, hi Lave, my name is me and I'm from Massachusetts. First,
- 23:02Speaker 6: I love your podcast. I've been binge listening if that's
- 23:05Speaker 6: the thing for the last few weeks, and I'm filing
- 23:07Speaker 6: up to date. We had babies around the same time,
- 23:09Speaker 6: so I'm digging all the baby talk. It's so nice
- 23:12Speaker 6: to hear a different side of you on the podcast,
- 23:14Speaker 6: and it really gives listeners the opportunity to get to
- 23:17Speaker 6: know you so much more than what we see on
- 23:18Speaker 6: random Pump Goole. Congratulations on your sobriety. You should be
- 23:22Speaker 6: so proud of yourself. My question actually comes from some
- 23:25Speaker 6: of the content you've shared with us, as I believe
- 23:27Speaker 6: it can use in life too. If you mentioned with
- 23:29Speaker 6: sobriety you live one day at a time. For people
- 23:32Speaker 6: like myself, I need to live more in the moment.
- 23:34Speaker 6: You cut down on stress and anxiety and often try
- 23:37Speaker 6: to practice living in the moment, but it's so hard.
- 23:39Speaker 6: So in a future podcast, could you speak a little
- 23:42Speaker 6: more about best practices with that even if people aren't sober.
- 23:45Speaker 6: I think it's a great way to think and would
- 23:47Speaker 6: love to learn more about how to practice this on
- 23:49Speaker 6: a daily basis, if possible, how to get in that
- 23:52Speaker 6: mindset or whatnot. Thanks for taking that question, wishing you
- 23:55Speaker 6: and open the very best.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Oh sorry, I love that question. It's strange because I
- 24:06Speaker 1: feel like it's easier in sobriety to take it one
- 24:09Speaker 1: day at a time. And that may not be for everybody,
- 24:11Speaker 1: but like for me, it's easier for me to stay
- 24:16Speaker 1: present in my sobriety than it is for me to
- 24:19Speaker 1: stay present like in life. My anxiety is high right now,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and I just have a lot of stress and I'm
- 24:32Speaker 1: dealing with a lot, and I feel like sometimes it
- 24:35Speaker 1: does take away from me living in the moment and
- 24:38Speaker 1: enjoying things. And I have a lot of worry.
- 24:44Speaker 4: So I wish that I could like.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Give my advice on how to live more in the moment.
- 24:50Speaker 1: But I mean, I am struggling with it too, especially
- 24:53Speaker 1: right now where I think like a million steps ahead
- 24:57Speaker 1: and I'm worried about the unknown of everything. Think just
- 25:02Speaker 1: like trying to keep my head above water. And I
- 25:09Speaker 1: feel like there's so many times where I do like
- 25:11Speaker 1: interviews or I'm talking to people and I'm doing Instagram
- 25:14Speaker 1: posts and I'm like I'm doing great, like I'm great,
- 25:20Speaker 1: but I'm like I'm struggling. So I would also like
- 25:29Speaker 1: to know how to stay present and try to not
- 25:34Speaker 1: worry and fight anxiety and depression and things like that,
- 25:38Speaker 1: and I know mine's situational. But if anyone has advice,
- 25:45Speaker 1: because I love that question. So if anyone is listening
- 25:49Speaker 1: and you have advice, I would love for you to
- 25:51Speaker 1: call in and help me as well.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Fuck sorry, don't be sorry. I think that was a
- 25:58Speaker 3: great question. And you see how people are dealing with
- 26:01Speaker 3: it every day. You are this person is I mean
- 26:04Speaker 3: I everyone is, and it's just some way worse than others.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I mean, we won't get into you know, I couldn't
- 26:14Speaker 3: be dealing personally with you know, all the stuff you
- 26:17Speaker 3: deal with your like I said, have said before. One
- 26:20Speaker 3: of the strongest people I know. I know, it's like
- 26:25Speaker 3: how do you live in the moment? And I feel
- 26:27Speaker 3: like so many people have anxiety, stress, depression. It's like
- 26:31Speaker 3: all three every day just getting out of bed. For people,
- 26:36Speaker 3: it's like wake up.
- 26:38Speaker 1: What am I?
- 26:39Speaker 3: Why am I getting out of bed?
- 26:40Speaker 1: You know, and you start the grind all over again.
- 26:43Speaker 1: It's fucking exhausting.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I've heard, I've read and heard, you know, because
- 26:50Speaker 3: I don't she wouldn't mind me saying this, but I
- 26:51Speaker 3: have a sister who deals with the same things. Extreme anxiety.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Has been in the hospital because of panic attacks, and
- 26:58Speaker 3: and there are and they sound cliche and and like
- 27:03Speaker 3: I've said them to her before and she's like, that
- 27:05Speaker 3: doesn't like that's not gonna help. It's but because they're
- 27:08Speaker 3: so simple. But sometimes you literally just have to breathe
- 27:12Speaker 3: and Okay, I literally you could start from like, think
- 27:17Speaker 3: about the things you're thankful for. Again. I know so
- 27:19Speaker 3: many people are gonna sound be frustrated because it's like no, no,
- 27:23Speaker 3: like I can't right now. But I've heard when you
- 27:26Speaker 3: let yourself and you force yourself sometimes it helps being
- 27:29Speaker 3: in the moment. Okay, I right now have I'm healthy
- 27:35Speaker 3: or I right now have literally you could say like
- 27:38Speaker 3: I have my arms and legs, I'm thankful for that.
- 27:40Speaker 3: I have my legs, I can walk, I have a
- 27:42Speaker 3: roof over my head. And sometimes you have to because
- 27:46Speaker 3: it's like if I don't start with like the smallest
- 27:49Speaker 3: I have a chair that I can sit in and
- 27:51Speaker 3: eat breakfast right then it's like you're gonna go crazy.
- 27:55Speaker 1: You have just moments of gratitude, yes, when you take
- 27:57Speaker 1: your when you have a those dark moments, M yeah, no,
- 28:02Speaker 1: and I.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Agree with you.
- 28:04Speaker 1: But there's some days where you're just like fuck everything, yeah,
- 28:11Speaker 1: and I know that I'll go through cycles and yes,
- 28:14Speaker 1: no matter if I'm in a great head space or
- 28:17Speaker 1: it's kind of just a lower vibration type of day,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I know that you will not break me. I know
- 28:24Speaker 1: that everything will be okay. But there's always a small
- 28:30Speaker 1: part of me that goes to the what ifs, and
- 28:33Speaker 1: that can become traumatizing. Yeah, and take me to a
- 28:38Speaker 1: place that I don't want to go to.
- 28:41Speaker 3: So, I mean, how many of us wake up and
- 28:45Speaker 3: we feel like ten years ago was literally just yesterday?
- 28:48Speaker 3: I know, even thinking about the pandemic, what that was
- 28:52Speaker 3: that started two years ago. So it's almost like, if
- 28:56Speaker 3: you have the capacity and the energy to remind yourself,
- 28:59Speaker 3: I have to live in this moment because I'm going
- 29:02Speaker 3: to wake up tomorrow and it's going to be ten
- 29:03Speaker 3: years down the road.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I know. And then that opens a whole new can
- 29:07Speaker 1: of worms for me, where then I start having I
- 29:11Speaker 1: go on my guilt trip of all the moments that
- 29:15Speaker 1: I wasted worrying.
- 29:17Speaker 3: M And it's such a it's a vicious cycle because
- 29:20Speaker 3: then as you're on in the guilt trip, worried about
- 29:24Speaker 3: all the moments you wasted, you're making more moments that
- 29:27Speaker 3: you're wasting. Yeah, I know.
- 29:29Speaker 1: So, as Medina said to me, he was like, you
- 29:32Speaker 1: have got to allow the universe to do what it
- 29:35Speaker 1: is prepared to do, right, You've got to fight the anxiety.
- 29:40Speaker 1: He's like this thing with Chris Medina, He's I've said
- 29:44Speaker 1: this many times, he's very gifted. He was telling me
- 29:48Speaker 1: things that I was doing that he wouldn't know that
- 29:50Speaker 1: I was doing. No one would know that I was
- 29:52Speaker 1: doing these things. Yeah, you know, it's like an internal
- 29:55Speaker 1: thing that I do to myself. And he was like
- 29:58Speaker 1: on the money, and he said, you've got to stop.
- 30:02Speaker 1: You will be just fine. I told you that the
- 30:04Speaker 1: moment I did your podcast back in September, you will
- 30:09Speaker 1: be okay. Let the universe and time catch up with
- 30:14Speaker 1: what you know. Yeah, because it will.
- 30:18Speaker 3: It will.
- 30:19Speaker 1: And it's so.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I could see it being so frustrating, and it is
- 30:24Speaker 3: so frustrating when you sit there and you have to think,
- 30:28Speaker 3: remind yourself the universe, it'll be fine, This too shall
- 30:33Speaker 3: pass blah blah blah blah blah, over and over again
- 30:36Speaker 3: for days, for weeks, for months, for years. It's like,
- 30:38Speaker 3: oh my god. When though, when you get to a
- 30:41Speaker 3: point where you're like, but when though, and it's frustrating.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Well, like my best friend Madison said to me, she
- 30:47Speaker 1: was like, you don't get to tell the universe what
- 30:53Speaker 1: timeline it should be on. Yeah, you don't have that right.
- 30:58Speaker 1: It's so true. I'm like, oh shit.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Yeah, because all this this time, it's like it's like
- 31:05Speaker 3: a blink of an eye, Like the universe is like, yeah,
- 31:08Speaker 3: a couple of years, relax, And for us it's like
- 31:11Speaker 3: every day is torture and we just have to learn
- 31:14Speaker 3: to deal with it for whatever we're trying to get
- 31:16Speaker 3: toward or work toward or And it's like, but it
- 31:20Speaker 3: will all happen when it's supposed to. And it's the
- 31:23Speaker 3: hardest thing. And I like, get I give credit to
- 31:26Speaker 3: the people who don't live with that, huge credit to
- 31:30Speaker 3: those people. I talked to a friend about it this
- 31:32Speaker 3: past weekend who's like, no, no, no, I don't believe
- 31:34Speaker 3: in a god. I don't believe in a higher power.
- 31:37Speaker 3: I get things happen that we can't explain. I just
- 31:39Speaker 3: don't believe in that. If I want something to happen
- 31:42Speaker 3: in my life, I do that myself. And I was like,
- 31:45Speaker 3: it gave me anxiety because I was like, good, good
- 31:48Speaker 3: for you, because if I had to live my life
- 31:51Speaker 3: based on me, do you know how much pressure that
- 31:54Speaker 3: is me? I'm gonna my life is determined one hundred
- 31:58Speaker 3: percent by me, and I can't trust that like things
- 32:01Speaker 3: will happen when they're supposed to.
- 32:03Speaker 1: I'm done.
- 32:04Speaker 3: I'm not getting out of bed tomorrow.
- 32:05Speaker 1: If that was my brain live that way.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I couldn't live that way.
- 32:08Speaker 1: There's no fucking way.
- 32:09Speaker 3: So I mean, I do give credit to people who
- 32:11Speaker 3: are like, no, I'm getting like I make my life.
- 32:14Speaker 3: That's one way to look at it. I'm very well.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Of course I don't sit here and go. The universe
- 32:18Speaker 1: is gonna point me in all the direction rights and
- 32:21Speaker 1: God has my back. No, Obviously, if I want, like
- 32:25Speaker 1: I believe in God, right, well, God gave me a
- 32:28Speaker 1: brain and fucking use it. And if I want something
- 32:32Speaker 1: to happen, I'm going to make it happen. But the
- 32:35Speaker 1: universe will step in when something is not right. So
- 32:39Speaker 1: if something feels like you're banging your head against a
- 32:42Speaker 1: brick wall, take a different. The universe is saying, I'm
- 32:46Speaker 1: trying to show you that it's not working, So use
- 32:51Speaker 1: your brain that God gave you to pick a different route.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I'm telling you. You don't listen to that, you end up
- 32:56Speaker 1: in situations that you should.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Not be in.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Yes, And I always say in my prayers every night,
- 33:02Speaker 3: because my belief is like I have I'm healthy, and
- 33:06Speaker 3: i have the brain I have and whatever to work
- 33:08Speaker 3: my ass off, and I'm not gonna get rewarded unless
- 33:12Speaker 3: i work my ass off so I can. My mindset
- 33:15Speaker 3: is like if I work my ass off and do
- 33:17Speaker 3: everything I possibly can, then there's no like I don't
- 33:21Speaker 3: have an excuse, like things don't come to me. And
- 33:24Speaker 3: I'm like I can say, but I'm trying. I'm doing
- 33:26Speaker 3: everything I can right, So in my prayers I always say,
- 33:29Speaker 3: please continue, like to guide me if I'm if I'm
- 33:33Speaker 3: not on the right path, please like, if I'm not
- 33:36Speaker 3: hearing you, like speak a little louder, please help if
- 33:39Speaker 3: I'm not on the right path or I'm like maybe
- 33:41Speaker 3: veering off, or please guide me back on, Like if
- 33:44Speaker 3: there's a door that should be opening, please help me
- 33:46Speaker 3: see it, just all the things that like I kind
- 33:48Speaker 3: of put it. If I'm not seeing it or hearing it,
- 33:51Speaker 3: please like help a little but really overall, just like
- 33:54Speaker 3: continue to guide me, and I will pray to like
- 33:56Speaker 3: my grandpa and my uncle and like.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Of course those are your guides. Yeah, yeah, those are
- 34:01Speaker 1: those are your every days. Yeah, it's crazy right, yeah, No,
- 34:05Speaker 1: I could not live without believing in the higher power.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I mean, if you don't, that's the only thing. I'm
- 34:11Speaker 1: not pushing anything on you. But good lord, there are
- 34:14Speaker 1: moments where I'm like, this moment is going to break
- 34:17Speaker 1: me and I got to hand it off, exact, hunt
- 34:19Speaker 1: it to something greater.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Yeah, handing Get me out.
- 34:24Speaker 1: On that note, Let's cut to a short little break
- 34:27Speaker 1: and then do you have more voicemails for me?
- 34:29Speaker 6: Just?
- 34:30Speaker 1: Yes, we do. I want to hear them all. We'll
- 34:32Speaker 1: be right back. We have time for one more.
- 34:37Speaker 7: Yeah, hey, Lala, this calling from Granberry, Texas. And I
- 34:42Speaker 7: need some advice. I do not drink, and I have
- 34:45Speaker 7: a really hard time going out to social events about
- 34:47Speaker 7: people bringing it up and dry attention to it and
- 34:51Speaker 7: just making it awkward in general. I know that I've
- 34:54Speaker 7: heard you say before that you have a lot of
- 34:56Speaker 7: fun when you still go out and everyone's drinking, And
- 34:59Speaker 7: I just want to I know your secret.
- 35:01Speaker 6: What do you do?
- 35:02Speaker 7: How do you get people to just stop talking about
- 35:05Speaker 7: it and have a good time. Can't wait to listen.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Oh babe, I love this question. You know what, I
- 35:10Speaker 1: don't think that anyone should. If you go out and
- 35:16Speaker 1: you're sober and you feel like being in a situation
- 35:19Speaker 1: where people are drinking is not for you, don't force it.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I feel like I'm I'm lucky and I also my
- 35:32Speaker 1: and this is this is gonna come off weird, but
- 35:34Speaker 1: this is what the very first person that I went
- 35:37Speaker 1: into when I got sober, who's one of my angels, said,
- 35:42Speaker 1: you're a unicorn. This is not normal for you. And
- 35:45Speaker 1: if at any point in time it doesn't work for
- 35:47Speaker 1: you anymore, I want you to listen to that. It's
- 35:49Speaker 1: worked for me so far. I'm okay going to wineries.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I'm okay going into a bar. My mind goes to
- 35:54Speaker 1: a place where it's like, this is my life. I
- 35:56Speaker 1: have so much to lose, and I for sure am
- 35:59Speaker 1: not going to lose use everything over a fucking drink.
- 36:03Speaker 1: It's not happening. If you are the type of person
- 36:07Speaker 1: where you don't have fun and you're triggered by places
- 36:11Speaker 1: like that, don't go. Because there were times at the
- 36:15Speaker 1: very beginning of my sobriety where I was like, it's
- 36:17Speaker 1: just not a good idea for me to For some reason,
- 36:20Speaker 1: I'm feeling it in my gut, I shouldn't go to
- 36:22Speaker 1: this bar tonight with my friends. Right I'm not feeling
- 36:26Speaker 1: triggered right now, but my gut is telling me steer clear,
- 36:29Speaker 1: and I wouldn't go. That's good. Yeah. So I don't
- 36:32Speaker 1: even know how to tell someone to not because I
- 36:36Speaker 1: have people that I sit in rooms with who have
- 36:38Speaker 1: been sober, you know, ten twenty years, who still say
- 36:43Speaker 1: if I go into a bar, I'm gonna be triggered
- 36:45Speaker 1: to drink.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:47Speaker 1: So I think it's just a matter of I don't
- 36:49Speaker 1: think you can teach how to get into that zone.
- 36:53Speaker 3: And this is coming from a non sober person. But
- 36:58Speaker 3: I and I know you said that you don't drink.
- 37:03Speaker 3: You just put I don't drink. I don't know if
- 37:05Speaker 3: you shared that with a ton of people or if
- 37:07Speaker 3: you're making the decision now. But I have nights I
- 37:10Speaker 3: go out and I don't want to drink. People are
- 37:12Speaker 3: annoying and they'll say, especially since I'm not sober, and
- 37:15Speaker 3: they'll go, no, no, no, just have a drink, Just
- 37:17Speaker 3: take a shot and I get annoyed with it, and
- 37:19Speaker 3: I'm sick of like it taking up twenty minutes of
- 37:22Speaker 3: the conversation. So what I do is I just trick them.
- 37:24Speaker 3: I literally go up. I wait till they're in another conversation.
- 37:28Speaker 3: I go up to the bar and I say, hey,
- 37:31Speaker 3: could I have a drink in a cocktail glass? Could
- 37:33Speaker 3: you make it grapefruit juice? And usually I get soda
- 37:36Speaker 3: water and I literally pretend I'm drinking all night, and
- 37:39Speaker 3: that is unfortunately sometimes, and I know it's like shallow
- 37:43Speaker 3: and not as deep. Sometimes that's just what I have
- 37:45Speaker 3: to do. It's annoying. People are annoying, especially when they
- 37:47Speaker 3: get more drunk and they go shot shot, I'll go, no,
- 37:51Speaker 3: I don't want to puke all over everyone, so I'm
- 37:52Speaker 3: not going to take a shot, and it would embarrass me.
- 37:55Speaker 3: And if I took a shot, I would throw up
- 37:56Speaker 3: all over you. I'm sipping on my cocktail and it's
- 38:00Speaker 3: not a cocktail, it's none alcoholic.
- 38:02Speaker 1: That's so strange to me, though, what that people are
- 38:05Speaker 1: because if you say you're not drinking tonight, there's pure pressure.
- 38:08Speaker 1: But I'll tell you what, when when people ask me
- 38:10Speaker 1: if I want to drink and I say no, I'm good,
- 38:14Speaker 1: and then they say are you sure, and then I
- 38:16Speaker 1: say no, I'm sober. I've been sober for three and
- 38:19Speaker 1: a half years. They automatically disengage. So maybe if even
- 38:23Speaker 1: if you just if if you don't drink, you're enorman,
- 38:26Speaker 1: you've just decided you don't want to drink, or you
- 38:30Speaker 1: have a drinking problem. I say, just go straight to
- 38:32Speaker 1: the sober just go I'm sober. I'm sober, right And
- 38:35Speaker 1: if they freak disengage unless.
- 38:38Speaker 3: You're with friends that know, like what are you talking about? No,
- 38:41Speaker 3: you're not, you were just drinking last night, then you
- 38:43Speaker 3: can fake fake it.
- 38:45Speaker 1: But even now I still have I still ask.
- 38:48Speaker 3: For like, uh, mocktailary a.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I don't love mocktails, you know, because sugar to sugary.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I just say, give me sparkling water in a short
- 38:58Speaker 1: glass with a line right, looks like you're drinking a
- 39:01Speaker 1: vodkis soda? No, yeah, asking you anything.
- 39:02Speaker 3: And either way, I do it anyway, because if I
- 39:05Speaker 3: am drinking, I drink waters in between, like soda waters. Yeah,
- 39:10Speaker 3: So I'll just do it anyway.
- 39:12Speaker 1: At that party that we went to a while ago,
- 39:14Speaker 1: at Tom Tom do you remember.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Yes you forget or the yeah the birthday.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I had so many people yeah, being like, you're not
- 39:24Speaker 1: fucked up right now, and you're like, or you weren't
- 39:27Speaker 1: fucked up last night. I'm like, okay, first of all,
- 39:31Speaker 1: is that an insult? I'm like, no, I haven't had
- 39:34Speaker 1: a drink in yeah, over three and a half years. Yeah,
- 39:38Speaker 1: So I think if you just keep that in your
- 39:40Speaker 1: hand and you look like you're enjoying yourself, yeah, people
- 39:43Speaker 1: are gonna be like she was worse.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Yeah or no exactly. And at that party, someone just
- 39:50Speaker 3: to let anyone know who knows me, if you I'm sorry,
- 39:53Speaker 3: but if you buy me a shot, it never goes
- 39:55Speaker 3: in my mouth, it goes over my shoulder, it goes
- 39:57Speaker 3: on the floor. I'm not kidding. It's just happens.
- 40:01Speaker 1: And so all the alcohol, the alcoholic in me has
- 40:04Speaker 1: so much anxiety that I just.
- 40:06Speaker 3: I know, I have been at a long time ago.
- 40:09Speaker 3: I went to Vegas with some people for like the
- 40:11Speaker 3: Super Bowl, and we got like a table in one
- 40:13Speaker 3: of the clubs and they got bottle service. I think
- 40:15Speaker 3: bottle service is dumb. It's so it's so so stupid,
- 40:19Speaker 3: so expensive. But they got patrone every shot, you guys
- 40:23Speaker 3: went on the floor, which is like rude of me.
- 40:27Speaker 3: I did have paper towels and tried to soak it up.
- 40:29Speaker 3: But every shot they tried to make me take when
- 40:31Speaker 3: over my shoulder or on the floor, and so much
- 40:36Speaker 3: so that I'm sure hundreds of dollars of liquor was wasted.
- 40:38Speaker 3: But here's the thing. They say, take a shot, Take
- 40:41Speaker 3: a shot. I say, I don't want one. I don't
- 40:42Speaker 3: want one. Take a shot in.
- 40:44Speaker 1: I don't want to.
- 40:45Speaker 3: I don't want to go back and forth. I don't
- 40:47Speaker 3: want to. There are just moments where I don't want
- 40:48Speaker 3: to stand up for myself and make a point. And
- 40:50Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, your fault. You're gonna tell me to
- 40:53Speaker 3: take a shot. You just spent this much on this bottle.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Guess where it's going on the ground. You should have
- 40:58Speaker 3: listened to me when I said no.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Thanks, speaking of bottle service, just ye, so do you remember, oh,
- 41:03Speaker 1: so yesterday at the party, I was like, guys, there
- 41:06Speaker 1: was a girl who was These women were all very accomplished.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I'm sure a lot of them. If I were to
- 41:14Speaker 1: say who was there, you would know who I'm talking about.
- 41:18Speaker 1: But there was one girl who was a therapist. And
- 41:20Speaker 1: I asked, because you know, I'm really holding on to
- 41:23Speaker 1: this guy who went to the strip club, like I
- 41:25Speaker 1: know that it's not right, but like I had to
- 41:28Speaker 1: ask for a second, third, fourth opinion. And the girl
- 41:30Speaker 1: was like, so tell me how it went down. I
- 41:32Speaker 1: was like, it was his birthday. I told him happy birthday.
- 41:35Speaker 1: We texted whatever. I went to bed. The next day,
- 41:38Speaker 1: I wake up. It was like mourning for me after nude.
- 41:41Speaker 1: For him, he said, sorry, I was out all night.
- 41:43Speaker 1: We went to a strip club.
- 41:44Speaker 5: Lol.
- 41:45Speaker 1: And she goes no. She goes, no, that's not the
- 41:48Speaker 1: energy you want, that's not the vibration you need with
- 41:51Speaker 1: what you've been through.
- 41:52Speaker 4: No.
- 41:53Speaker 1: And I said, I'm listening to you, but all I
- 41:56Speaker 1: could think about with the bottle service, what you just
- 41:58Speaker 1: said being stupid.
- 41:59Speaker 4: Okay, me back to thinking about this guy.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Okay, So on his Instagram the night before he was
- 42:05Speaker 1: in a restaurant with sunglasses on. Okay, So, when he
- 42:09Speaker 1: tells me he's at this he went to a strip club,
- 42:11Speaker 1: Me and my sober state of mind could just picture
- 42:14Speaker 1: a fucking stupid They all look right like drunk, thinking
- 42:17Speaker 1: they're fucking cool with their stupid fucking sung glasses on
- 42:19Speaker 1: at night, you know, and like fit inside with pitch black,
- 42:25Speaker 1: with like women shaking their asses. Talented women by the way, Yes,
- 42:29Speaker 1: the strippers don't look stupid. No, you look stupid.
- 42:32Speaker 3: You look stupid.
- 42:34Speaker 1: I just can't stay with the bottle service. When I
- 42:36Speaker 1: go into a club and I'm sober and I see
- 42:38Speaker 1: these people and they bring out like the sparklers and
- 42:40Speaker 1: the champagne, and they're thinking they're so cool. They got
- 42:42Speaker 1: their phones.
- 42:43Speaker 4: Out for the GRAM.
- 42:44Speaker 1: I'm like, you all look like I'm living. I see
- 42:48Speaker 1: it for what it is. Yes, right, I'm sober. Yeah,
- 42:51Speaker 1: you look dumb.
- 42:52Speaker 3: You're like, oh, you just spent eight hundred dollars on it,
- 42:54Speaker 3: one hundred dollars bottle of liquor.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Am I supposed to am?
- 42:57Speaker 3: I supposed to think that's cool.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Nope, But they all do. And they're like they're like
- 43:00Speaker 1: you see them filming themselves, like yeah, yeah, show the chain.
- 43:06Speaker 4: I'm like, I hate all of.
- 43:08Speaker 3: The cool bro Oh my god, No, that's that's true.
- 43:13Speaker 4: It angers me.
- 43:14Speaker 3: That's why I love the Instagram account influencers in the wild.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Do you follow it? Oh my god, La, it's you
- 43:22Speaker 3: know what you're talking it's that ship. It's videos of
- 43:26Speaker 3: people just like or like dancing. They'll be dancing on
- 43:29Speaker 3: the beach and it's girls and and it's a video
- 43:31Speaker 3: and they'll be like dancing and then and then the
- 43:34Speaker 3: music stops and they like check it and it's so funny.
- 43:37Speaker 1: It's mortifying.
- 43:38Speaker 3: It's mortified. You go through TikTok and you see these
- 43:41Speaker 3: like cool videos of women dancing, but you never really think,
- 43:44Speaker 3: like what set does actually look like. They're on the beach.
- 43:48Speaker 3: There's beach goers laying trying to enjoy and they're like
- 43:51Speaker 3: kicking stand in their face.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Yeah. No, can I tell you what it's like. Can
- 43:54Speaker 1: I see people on planes? Yeah, they're in first class
- 43:57Speaker 1: and they're like you see the picture, and they're like
- 44:00Speaker 1: lounged out, they take a selfie, They've got like their
- 44:02Speaker 1: glass of champagne. You're like, oh my god, so chic.
- 44:04Speaker 1: But then I transport myself to walking down the aisle
- 44:07Speaker 1: and watching that person do that, and I'm like, you're
- 44:09Speaker 1: a fucking idiot. You look dumb, Like no, and I'm sorry,
- 44:15Speaker 1: I refuse to look stupid just for one Instagram post, just.
- 44:20Speaker 3: For one You have to think about what's behind the photo.
- 44:23Speaker 3: You guys, it's like another.
- 44:25Speaker 1: I'm so bad at Instagram.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Well it's the other thing too. It's like, I love
- 44:29Speaker 3: there's TikTok accounts that are like the real shot or whatever,
- 44:33Speaker 3: and there's all these like gorgeous shots that influencers take
- 44:36Speaker 3: when they're like out of the country and they're on
- 44:38Speaker 3: this iconic like rock, and then you see a literal
- 44:43Speaker 3: hour and a half long line of people waiting to
- 44:46Speaker 3: get the shot on the rock, and it's like never
- 44:51Speaker 3: and it's just one shot on the rock, and then
- 44:53Speaker 3: they run away and then someone else stands on the
- 44:55Speaker 3: rock and it's like you see this iconic photo on Instagram,
- 44:58Speaker 3: but what you don't see is the and a half
- 45:00Speaker 3: line of people waiting to get this one shot on
- 45:03Speaker 3: this like rock and Bali or something whatever.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Wow, we've hit a lot of notes
- 45:08Speaker 1: to you. I know, we have cried, We've spoken about sobriety,
- 45:11Speaker 1: we've spoken about idiots.
- 45:13Speaker 3: I know, I know you said two more voicemails, but
- 45:16Speaker 3: we have so many good ones. I think we save
- 45:18Speaker 3: the rest for later.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Let's save the rest for later. Okay, you guys, thank
- 45:22Speaker 1: you so much for tuning into another episode. Of give
- 45:25Speaker 1: them Lalla podcast. I love you so much. Remember to
- 45:28Speaker 1: take your vitamins to not get what Ocean gave to me.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Remember to wear your sunscreen because sun's out, buns out.
- 45:37Speaker 1: I want you guys to protect that skin. I love
- 45:40Speaker 1: you so much, Catch you next week.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Ah, with your cold, you sounded like Kurmit.
