1:26
[SPEAKER_03]: It should be the BR's, the B's, the B's, the B's, the B's with wings.

1:33
[SPEAKER_03]: Hey Bob, how you doing?
1:35
[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, good morning, guys.
1:37
[SPEAKER_03]: Good to see you.
1:39
[SPEAKER_03]: How you got still got here on your head, man?
1:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you got a lot of hair, Bob?
1:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, yeah.
1:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I just had, you know, I just had my hair dresser fix it up for the show.
1:50
[SPEAKER_02]: You should be like, Joe, you should get it.
1:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Get that thing.
1:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Get that thing.
1:57
[SPEAKER_02]: That's all.
1:57
[SPEAKER_02]: That's all.
1:58
[SPEAKER_02]: That's all.
1:58
[SPEAKER_02]: This is the truth.
1:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I used to board drive my hair a little bit.
2:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't do it anymore, but I blew.
2:04
[SPEAKER_02]: I board ride my hair for this show today.
2:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Beautiful.
2:08
[SPEAKER_04]: You know what?
2:08
[SPEAKER_04]: It looks nice.
2:13
[SPEAKER_03]: I remember when Bob came and we all kind of came in together and I was there first and then they came in afterwards and so it was me, Bob AJ and some other guys that we had.
2:24
[SPEAKER_03]: And so we would go out and for a lot ordeal, you know, and like AJ and I we just throw some jeans on, you know, and throw a t-shirt on and we got Bob, you know, they got the Nick, those little silky shirts, those Nick shirts, any other pants and everything.
2:41
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he's happily married after all these years, but Bob you were.
2:49
[SPEAKER_04]: I called you the president of all the clubs.
2:51
[SPEAKER_04]: I'd go through the list of them.
2:52
[SPEAKER_04]: You were the king of Fort Latter.
2:54
[SPEAKER_04]: They're all in a nice way.
2:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I was the mayor, you remember we all had a good time back then.
3:01
[SPEAKER_02]: The center of the universe for us for entertainment, I guess you would say.
3:08
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's get back to that because you were trading on dangerous areas there.
3:13
[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk a little bit about one thing that
3:17
[SPEAKER_03]: Talk about, let's talk about your coaches over the years.
3:19
[SPEAKER_03]: First of all, you grew up in West Palm Beach.
3:24
[SPEAKER_03]: You ended up in Alabama, and you walked into to bear Bryant in Alabama.
3:30
[SPEAKER_03]: That had to be a rude awakening.
3:32
[SPEAKER_02]: It was culture shock.
3:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I moved to Tuscaloosa for more Palm Beach.
3:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I went to Palm Beach Gardens High School.
3:39
[SPEAKER_02]: My dad was in the vacuum cleaner business and got big promotion and we moved up to Tuscaloast.
3:45
[SPEAKER_03]: We all got vacuum cleaners.
3:46
[SPEAKER_03]: We had to pay for him the one.
3:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, really?
3:48
[SPEAKER_02]: You have on both.
3:50
[SPEAKER_02]: You're going on a handbook.
3:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I remember it well.
3:56
[SPEAKER_02]: But I got body points for that, too.
3:58
[SPEAKER_02]: They used to use that Kimbo camper.
4:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right.
4:03
[SPEAKER_02]: So let's get back to better.
4:04
[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, so and I didn't play ball.
4:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Like a lot of guys, I didn't start playing football towers at junior high school, really didn't know what I was doing, and we moved to Tuscaloosa.
4:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And I didn't really get recruited or anything, but late in my senior year or April, I believe, Coach Bryant saw me playing against somebody else that they were recruiting, and that's how I got my scholarship.
4:32
[SPEAKER_02]: And I went to Alabama and, you know, Coach Bryant and the coaches there changed my life, you know, big time.
4:40
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, you guys, and by the way, we played a lot at Alabama guys.
4:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Five Alabama guys at one point were on that team.
4:47
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
4:47
[SPEAKER_04]: Always wondered, you go from Bear Bryant.
4:50
[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm guessing it was pretty tough old school coach.
4:52
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
4:53
[SPEAKER_04]: And you go to Don Sheila who is also could be real tough as well.
4:59
[SPEAKER_04]: What was that like was that a big, I know it was a huge adjustment for me.
5:02
[SPEAKER_04]: What was it like for you?
5:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, for me, you know, the transition from high school to
5:07
[SPEAKER_02]: To college was the real difficult transition for me.
5:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I didn't have the mentality.
5:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't really look at myself as a guy trying to be the best I could be.
5:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I really didn't have a whole lot of focus to direction going to Alabama.
5:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Coach Bryant got my fact I quit the beginning of my junior year.
5:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean myself more year.
5:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And Coach Bryant had a meeting with me afterwards and with my dad and really was a big, big, turning point in my life.
5:34
[SPEAKER_02]: So from that point through my senior year, I worked to be the best that I could be because of Coach Bryant and Coach Brown, he and my position coaches, I guess, mentoring.
5:48
[SPEAKER_02]: And when I got to, when I got to Miami y'all, and they moved me to Knowers, I did not want to play Knowers.
5:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I was basically a defensive end in Miami.
5:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't like it.
5:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't want to play Knowers.
6:01
[SPEAKER_02]: But because of what happened,
6:03
[SPEAKER_02]: and Alabama and the experiences that I had when I went to Miami.
6:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I got to tell you, I didn't find it that difficult coming from Alabama at the time.
6:13
[SPEAKER_02]: And Bo, you remember that defense was in transition.
6:16
[SPEAKER_02]: And we were, you know, you got hurt the year prior.
6:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And we basically came up together.
6:23
[SPEAKER_02]: And it was just, to me, was just the best.
6:26
[SPEAKER_02]: There was a great experience that I still, you know, kind of have to pinch myself.
6:31
[SPEAKER_02]: that I went to Miami after living in Norpone Beach.
6:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I was in high school when the dolphins went undefeated.
6:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I was a huge fast, big, manny Fernandez fan.
6:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I was a big, burned, unheard of fan.
6:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, soccer and the whole gang living in South Florida.
6:46
[SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, it was wonderful.
6:50
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was, you know, we already talked about it.
6:52
[SPEAKER_03]: We talked about with AJ when we had him
6:55
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it was, you know, I was in with Larry Gordon and then, and then Darrell Harris, and then you and, and AJ came in, and then I think after that we had the, with the Darn McNeil, Tony Nathan, the White, all those Alabama guys came, and that was really the nucleus of what,
7:14
[SPEAKER_03]: What led us to playing a really good football, having winning records all the time, going to a couple of Super Bowls.
7:22
[SPEAKER_03]: And I thought it all, it kind of tied us to those seventy two guys, which still I'm a fan, and I'll always be a fan of that group of guys, not only for what they did, but the way they took care of us when we came in the league.
7:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, there are three hundred percent of me talking about my hair.
7:43
[SPEAKER_02]: earlier.
7:43
[SPEAKER_02]: He asked, man, he took me to get my haircut, my during training camp.
7:49
[SPEAKER_02]: And I had pretty good head of hair when I came in.
7:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And he took me to this little Italian barber shop.
7:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember where it was.
7:57
[SPEAKER_02]: And I did not have a pretty good head of hair when I came out.
8:00
[SPEAKER_02]: And I said, man,
8:02
[SPEAKER_02]: He goes, what's up?
8:04
[SPEAKER_02]: What's the matter, rookie?
8:05
[SPEAKER_02]: I said, my hair.
8:06
[SPEAKER_02]: He goes, hey, you're a rookie.
8:07
[SPEAKER_02]: You got to look the part.
8:08
[SPEAKER_02]: So I never forgot, I mean, those got to be experiences with Sabre.
8:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when we all went there and gathered after practice, once in a while, those guys were the best.
8:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And I got to tell you whether Tim Langer and Kootchenberg and Little
8:25
[SPEAKER_02]: They moved me to knows.
8:28
[SPEAKER_02]: There was a long time during that rookie training camp.
8:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't think I could play pro ball because I was like a pinball in the middle there.
8:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't do nothing.
8:36
[SPEAKER_02]: And then after we got into preseason, I started figuring things out that offensive while we were practicing against was the best in football.
8:47
[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, let's kind of regress a little bit back to Alabama with all those guys we talked about.
8:52
[SPEAKER_03]: And look, that was not, you know, Richard Todd came out, you had Marty Lyons.
8:58
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, those football teams, those bear Bryant football teams.
9:03
[SPEAKER_03]: was spit out some guys that were just great football player and then in all game ready I mean you know we I mean don't make me a first day day one he started Bob you come in your start you know Tony comes in he starts right away and and you guys came in so prepared to to play at that level and certainly that has to be a hangover from from bear because I know bear wasn't he wasn't taking any nonsense from from those teams right and
9:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And he was extremely organized.
9:32
[SPEAKER_02]: He had a good coaching staff.
9:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Discipline was at very, very high level.
9:41
[SPEAKER_02]: But the thing that Coach Bryant did for all of us is to me that you didn't always see it at the time because we worked so hard.
9:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Was he made us believe in ourselves?
9:50
[SPEAKER_02]: He made us, he created a vision for us every year in July.
9:54
[SPEAKER_02]: We got a letter from him on what the goals were for that year.
9:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And it wasn't to have a winning season.
10:01
[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't to get to a vote game.
10:02
[SPEAKER_02]: It was to win a national championship.
10:04
[SPEAKER_02]: That was always our goal at Alabama.
10:06
[SPEAKER_02]: And that gets into your psyche.
10:08
[SPEAKER_02]: That, you know, becomes part of your mentality.
10:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And you come, you know, you come to practice not, not, you know, to work towards that goal.
10:19
[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, I guess what you're talking about it related to being ready if you had the ability to play pro ball as well for
10:26
[SPEAKER_02]: But I like Shula.
10:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And for me, Coach Shula was just a continuation of the same kind of principles that we ordered our memo.
10:36
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's funny.
10:39
[SPEAKER_04]: We go from the no name defense, the undefeated team, and then I know Bo was with him the other day and guy came in.
10:45
[SPEAKER_04]: He goes, killer bees, man.
10:46
[SPEAKER_04]: You're one of the killer bees.
10:48
[SPEAKER_04]: And you know, you know, I heard it.
10:50
[SPEAKER_04]: But what's the health pressure?
10:52
[SPEAKER_04]: But health pressure was that seven of you guys last name be, and my god, I was looking at killer bees.
10:58
[SPEAKER_04]: You guys making money on that poster, by the way, I was just curious.
11:01
[SPEAKER_03]: I think Bob made some money.
11:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, nobody, I was just talking about that, but remember it was called Capture Glory, that guy that did that put that together.
11:10
[SPEAKER_03]: I remember, I can remember his face, almost remember his name, but I know he had some heavy pockets, but none of us.
11:18
[SPEAKER_03]: He gave me a foot of that one.
11:20
[SPEAKER_04]: You got to keep a couple for the family.
11:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, what was that like playing with the killer bees, and you guys,
11:26
[SPEAKER_04]: besides, by the way, people forget, in nineteen eighty two.
11:29
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a number one defense in football.
11:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Again, it was the best because we were close.
11:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, really close.
11:37
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we had a lot of really neat experiences together.
11:41
[SPEAKER_02]: And, and whether it was really, you know, watching each other get married, going out like we used to go out a lot once once, once, usually once a week, where we go out the dinner, dinner somewhere or whatever, and we were
11:55
[SPEAKER_02]: We were a close lot and you know, the relationships are still there.
11:59
[SPEAKER_02]: We were just, you know, I mean, I watched my kids, both my boys played ball and I was watching them through their football careers and they got to college and played in college and
12:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I watched what they dealt with and I just it made me appreciate for me what I had at Alabama and then especially you know I was at Miami for ten years and it really couldn't have been better from who we were playing with and you know I remember when you came in like it was yesterday Joe and you fit right in we had a lot of fun and I remember
12:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I just got a lot of really good memories about not just the killer beast, but just our team as a whole.
12:43
[SPEAKER_04]: You know what's amazing just to follow up on that bow is because Bowen I talk about this all the time too.
12:49
[SPEAKER_04]: We never talked about how talented we into Super Bowl Seventeen in nineteen last two that the dolphins have been to, but
12:55
[SPEAKER_04]: It's amazing.
12:56
[SPEAKER_04]: All we ever talked about is a camaraderie and how it's like when you see one of the guys on the team and we're all in our sixties and seventies now and it's like we were next door neighbors and it's crazy how close our teams work.
13:08
[SPEAKER_02]: We just pick up where we left off you know and still have those same feelings and all that and when you guys asked me to do this I was really excited I heard about I kind of heard about the show a while ago and I was wondering what what about me you know what do I get
13:23
[SPEAKER_04]: No one year or two.
13:25
[SPEAKER_04]: We were going to have you, but I go back home.
13:27
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's wait a year before we have Bob.
13:29
[SPEAKER_03]: We had to get back to the water with AJ.
13:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
13:37
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, AJ's daughter moved up here.
13:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
13:40
[SPEAKER_03]: She's up there, but I see it's like AJ's daughter.
13:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and she married a guy that is from up here, went to Auburn.
13:52
[SPEAKER_02]: moved down there and his dad worked for me to choose this down in Miami, and they moved back to this area up here, which we call LA, Laura Albémor.
14:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have just outside the mobile in between mobile and Petscola, but AJ and Francis are up here a little bit.
14:12
[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, let's talk a little bit about, you know, I was always
14:16
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, when when when when we were playing, uh, you know, we we talked about all the Alabama guys and I want the guys to kind of get overlooked sometimes as Tony Nathan.
14:24
[SPEAKER_03]: How good he was, you know, as a football player and what he did, but but also.
14:29
[SPEAKER_03]: And that same draft, when I came out, Richard Todd was up there and John was a Dan Alexander was come from LSU, right?
14:38
[SPEAKER_01]: He was LSU, yeah.
14:40
[SPEAKER_03]: He was LSU with AJ.
14:42
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
14:43
[SPEAKER_03]: And then there was a number of guys that we knew down here that
14:48
[SPEAKER_03]: We would kind of associate with the offseason, right?
14:51
[SPEAKER_03]: Because they don't all come down here to get away from the work and have some fun.
14:57
[SPEAKER_03]: And then in the games, knowing all those guys and having being around them, I think that really made that rivalry, because you know who they are, you want to have that offseason when you saw them to come down.
15:10
[SPEAKER_03]: You know where you can knock them around a little bit, you know what I mean?
15:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and you remember what helped with that was Master Shree for a few years.
15:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, remember we did Master Shree with Richard and Joe and a lot of those guys from up there would come down because of that and then we'd all get together and.
15:29
[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, some of those guys from the jets went to the islands with Richard and I a couple of times so that that probably was it was special back then because we knew each other so well.
15:39
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, they had a real good football team too.
15:40
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we played each other in NC championship, game and everything.
15:43
[SPEAKER_04]: I forgot about bachelor's three, man.
15:46
[SPEAKER_04]: The original Fort Lauderdale place, Broadway, Joe Nameth, Richard Todd.
15:51
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, my God, Bob, how'd you get his toes in there?
15:53
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
15:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
15:54
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, they're like Bob having that club with those guys.
15:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we had fun.
15:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's actually my first on tray into the restaurant business was okay.
16:02
[SPEAKER_02]: And Richard and I used to talk about, we'd go in there and Richard said, well, I own that chair and I said, I don't not plant.
16:09
[SPEAKER_02]: We actually, it was all investors and we would kind of have fun talking about those kinds of things.
16:18
[SPEAKER_02]: And it was fun a lot of the last of it, but it didn't last very long.
16:22
[SPEAKER_03]: Now you know you say you grew up in Palm Beach and you've always been you always love South Florida, but you've also you always you'd love love the Caribbean.
16:33
[SPEAKER_03]: You're always going to Bimini or not to the Abacos, your Luzras, islands, all those and it's still in you right now.
16:40
[SPEAKER_03]: I know you've got a boat out there.
16:41
[SPEAKER_03]: You've got a place out there and you come down what what drew you so much
16:45
[SPEAKER_03]: to that lifestyle there.
16:46
[SPEAKER_03]: Because you know, at least I went with Bob over there a few times.
16:49
[SPEAKER_03]: You walk and he's the king of, he was certainly the king of Bimini, you know.
16:53
[SPEAKER_03]: And then you got out to like March Harbor or something.
16:56
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the same way out there.
16:57
[SPEAKER_03]: Everyone's waiting for Bob to show up and.
16:59
[SPEAKER_03]: And this just tells us about how you got that experience.
17:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you're right.
17:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And in fact, I had to go to wedding and Bimini a couple months ago of a buddy of mine who's ninety-two now.
17:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was thanks Frank Hinssey.
17:14
[SPEAKER_02]: He ran to Bluewater Resort where we docked when you go over there with me, right?
17:18
[SPEAKER_02]: But I'll obviously have the water, the fishing, the all the above, all of that stuff.
17:25
[SPEAKER_02]: But what really got me, I don't know what you call it, connected with that place over there where the people, and back when we were playing, you know, we were the only game in Tyler really
17:40
[SPEAKER_02]: and the behemium folks love the Miami Dolphins.
17:43
[SPEAKER_02]: They love the Miami Dolphins and I had the best time with them over there when I go over there and then those relationships started and then you know the Bahamas are a real interesting place.
17:56
[SPEAKER_02]: You've got all kinds of place to explore.
17:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I just got into it and I'm still into it.
18:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still learning and
18:02
[SPEAKER_02]: still loving it over there and want to share it like back in the day, you know, I would ask you guys to go and sometimes like I look and you go with me.
18:14
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, hey Bob, I gotta ask you too.
18:17
[SPEAKER_04]: You've done something and been so successful.
18:18
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not surprised.
18:19
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think both surprised either.
18:21
[SPEAKER_04]: Getting in the restaurant business and having a chain of restaurants now.
18:26
[SPEAKER_04]: I always wonder, how much of that when you look at your success, you look back at the two head coaches, the one in college and the one in Pro.
18:34
[SPEAKER_04]: And the way, sometimes you find yourself acting towards employees.
18:37
[SPEAKER_02]: That's a really good question, Jordan.
18:39
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think about that a lot and I use that a lot.
18:42
[SPEAKER_02]: That meeting with Coach Brian, because I didn't have any direction at the time.
18:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I went a bad guy.
18:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I just didn't know any better.
18:49
[SPEAKER_02]: None of my family were in the sports.
18:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I was the first one that I knew of.
18:53
[SPEAKER_02]: and my family that to place sports and and that meeting were caused by it's made me start thinking about things and one of the things he asked me because I had had a good spring my freshman year when I reported to camp that fall I was expecting to be on first string and I was all the way at the bottom of the and he had
19:14
[SPEAKER_02]: you know put me and he did that from time to time to people and after three days I said I'm out of here and then he got where do you want to see me in his office and I had my spiel ready why I you know I wasn't going to do what I was doing at third string anyway long story short he asked me well let me ask you a question what did you do to get better between spring and now
19:38
[SPEAKER_02]: and I couldn't answer the question.
19:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have any kind of a plan.
19:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I had no vision for myself.
19:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't really thinking about reporting the camp with any kind of expectations at all.
19:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And that question and a few other things he had my dad in there with me and so they were both hit on me pretty good.
19:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that affected me and whether it's whether it's you know what happened at Alabama or Miami and really in this crazy business and bone knows how
20:09
[SPEAKER_02]: crazy the restaurant businesses it's a challenge the foundation of the stuff that we learn to discipline to come out or the teamwork working hard to be the best you can be you know thinking about the guests and what is our what's our goal here as far as why are we doing this all of those things
20:28
[SPEAKER_02]: For as far as I concerned came from that, and then obviously with Coach Shula, it was all about preparation, it was all about, you know, why are we at camp?
20:39
[SPEAKER_02]: And we weren't at camp to make the playoffs.
20:41
[SPEAKER_02]: We were at camp to get back to the Super Bowl and to win the Super Bowl.
20:45
[SPEAKER_02]: And you all remember that one year that they fought
20:49
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, what do we go?
20:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Fourteen an hour, thirteen an hour, and then, yeah, we had that one loss, and Coach Schultle was not a happy camper.
20:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he was, he had those high standards as well.
21:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And to me, all of that plays into what I've done, what you guys have done is the foundation created by all that type of stuff.
21:10
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I take Bob Bobby's, he's a bill.
21:14
[SPEAKER_03]: But his restaurant, he's got restaurants all over Alabama.
21:18
[SPEAKER_03]: And they're all first guys got high end restaurants.
21:20
[SPEAKER_03]: What's it off and you got up and down and down by in Mobile, right?
21:23
[SPEAKER_03]: And then you got, and then he's the King of Tuscaloosa, you know?
21:24
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:25
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:26
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:27
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:28
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:29
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:29
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:30
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:30
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:31
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:32
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:33
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:33
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:34
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:35
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:36
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the King of Tuscaloosa.
21:36
[SPEAKER_03]: He's the
21:37
[SPEAKER_03]: is just what he talked about.
21:38
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he cares about all his employees, he cares about the product, he puts out, he cares about being first class, and I think that's what you call yourself, the chief fry cook still.
21:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, fry cook.
21:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, fry cook.
21:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, fry cook.
21:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, fry cook.
21:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, fry cook.
21:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, when our first came back home,
21:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm back up here.
22:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, you talk about how much I love it down there.
22:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody loves the dolphins.
22:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody loves stuff forward more than I do.
22:07
[SPEAKER_02]: I, you know, I got stuck on a wing station cooking wings.
22:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Probably ten years.
22:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not ten.
22:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm Boston tables washing dishes doing it all at a time.
22:19
[SPEAKER_02]: What makes it extra extra special.
22:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Spence what's the school?
22:24
[SPEAKER_02]: God's degrees said that I want to help my older son.
22:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's my president now.
22:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I got out of here that you met earlier.
22:31
[SPEAKER_02]: She's working with me and my youngest son's working with me now West.
22:34
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, hopefully
22:37
[SPEAKER_02]: The things that we're all talking about here will continue through them.
22:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And it makes, makes it a whole lot more fun and special.
22:46
[SPEAKER_02]: You're talking about how busy I am.
22:47
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still busy, but let's talk about your business for a little bit just a little bit more.
22:53
[SPEAKER_03]: So in the last couple of years, Bob is, is gutting too late.
22:58
[SPEAKER_03]: You grow your chickens.
23:00
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you have your chicken.
23:02
[SPEAKER_03]: So you cut out the middle man there.
23:04
[SPEAKER_03]: You own your own place.
23:05
[SPEAKER_03]: You're hardly able to somebody.
23:08
[SPEAKER_03]: You sell them the chickens and you keep the ones you need.
23:13
[SPEAKER_03]: But your other son's running that, right?
23:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, my youngest son, yeah, and we started that a couple years ago.
23:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And look, let me tell you, we had a full recall in Alabama's right in the middle of chicken.
23:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Why I won't call it chicken heaven because they get like, you know,
23:30
[SPEAKER_02]: the chickens are grown for a while and they go to the process or so it's not helping to live.
23:35
[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, there's a lot of chickens growing in this neck of the woods and we have four mega houses and each one of those houses had between forty five and fifty five chickens.
23:48
[SPEAKER_02]: a thousand chickens a piece and so we're growing a couple hundred thousand chickens per flock which is about five and a half weeks and a couple hundred thousand that's like a four hundred thousand wings right yeah and I got some cool videos out of sure about my mom my mom still around y'all she just turned ninety on August wealth and I took her up to the chicken farm one time and
24:12
[SPEAKER_02]: We did a little video whether and we had some fun that we were talking about the whole wing thing.
24:19
[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, it makes things interesting.
24:23
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's amazing.
24:25
[SPEAKER_04]: So growing up Northern California, I don't remember having chicken wings.
24:28
[SPEAKER_04]: No.
24:29
[SPEAKER_04]: I got to South Florida wasn't wings and things and that damn way.
24:35
[SPEAKER_04]: And his mother and his mother was very involved at the time.
24:38
[SPEAKER_04]: The old man, the old man, the new magic tricks.
24:40
[SPEAKER_04]: That's right.
24:41
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
24:41
[SPEAKER_04]: And I ended up, I'd have him every night.
24:43
[SPEAKER_04]: Those things were so good with those fries.
24:45
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, my gosh.
24:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, the greatest thing to all time.
24:48
[SPEAKER_02]: I got introduced to wings by good buddy of
24:51
[SPEAKER_02]: All of our Steve told he has you have to go to lunch one day.
24:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the matter swings and things.
24:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you remember both, but yeah, we were there.
24:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Wings and things.
25:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Any house was there.
25:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Running the place and any, hey, he had become a dolphin fan.
25:05
[SPEAKER_02]: And, and that's how I got introduced to Wings because I was just like y'all.
25:09
[SPEAKER_02]: When Steve asked me to go to lunch,
25:12
[SPEAKER_02]: and said where we go and he goes wings and things and he's I said where they serve there he goes chicken wings I said you want me to go to a restaurant and eat a chicken wings are you crazy put what do you say that man and then I asked him I said is this a cancels thing or something horse is coming down and so that was my introduction I was right there with y'all it's crazy I'm just crazy
25:35
[SPEAKER_03]: I remember bringing Mark Denard to the wins and things on Broward Boulevard.
25:42
[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
25:43
[SPEAKER_03]: And he says, he damn weighs.
25:44
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, hey, we eat these damn weighs.
25:46
[SPEAKER_03]: Wait, he tried to make the whole thing off, right?
25:48
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
25:49
[SPEAKER_03]: You're, you're like a guy.
25:50
[SPEAKER_03]: And so, so, so, so now he's the king of chicken wings in college station.
25:56
[SPEAKER_03]: So the Texas saying, I'm proud crowd out there.
25:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
25:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
25:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's crazy.
26:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Get to the eating thing went the way it went.
26:02
[SPEAKER_02]: And now now I'm super ball time or football time.
26:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's talking about how many wings you're going to be served this year.
26:11
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's crazy.
26:11
[SPEAKER_03]: So that's the last week, the last preseason game.
26:15
[SPEAKER_03]: I grew up in the TV booth that we're doing the game.
26:18
[SPEAKER_03]: And I walk in and I want to bomb arrows.
26:19
[SPEAKER_03]: Men uses up there.
26:21
[SPEAKER_03]: And I go, you know what that's saying?
26:22
[SPEAKER_03]: A bit's gone as well into the stadium.
26:25
[SPEAKER_03]: So I text my text.
26:28
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't get there.
26:30
[SPEAKER_03]: He influenced me.
26:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you never know.
26:33
[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
26:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I saw that picture dispenser.
26:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I forgot to tell you this.
26:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I spent a little money advertising at Hard Rock, or stadium.
26:45
[SPEAKER_02]: He said, how much?
26:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I said, I cost us about twenty grand.
26:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Now I said, well hey, it's hard to get your name in the stadium.
26:55
[SPEAKER_02]: And then we're going to have some fun with that.
26:57
[SPEAKER_02]: But I showed that picture.
27:01
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know where that came from, huh?
27:03
[SPEAKER_03]: Now I have no idea where I came from.
27:05
[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody must have died.
27:06
[SPEAKER_03]: What else guys was a gun up there with your place?
27:08
[SPEAKER_03]: Because everyone goes up there, they stop at your place.
27:11
[SPEAKER_03]: And so he must have brought it back, all of me through this.
27:14
[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to come and do it.
27:16
[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, our sponsors, Edmore, saw grass automol.
27:19
[SPEAKER_03]: I got to get, this brings me to another story.
27:21
[SPEAKER_03]: Bob was a good car guy.
27:22
[SPEAKER_03]: Bob was a big car guy.
27:24
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Bob, I remember Bob, he brought, he brought that, that cream-colored corvette.
27:30
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, that was like what was like my rookie here like a seventy four core van or something seventy seven seventy seven.
27:37
[SPEAKER_03]: They have to fit in that's enough.
27:39
[SPEAKER_03]: What's what I'm going to tell you so so I I bobs to say let's he picks me up.
27:43
[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to go to work cap or work.
27:44
[SPEAKER_03]: Whatever.
27:45
[SPEAKER_03]: Come on jump in.
27:46
[SPEAKER_03]: I look bobs in that the steering was like right about the ship.
27:51
[SPEAKER_03]: his knees are like, slay it out like this.
27:54
[SPEAKER_03]: And above, you can't be comfortable, he goes, I'm not very comfortable, but you like the car, right?
27:59
[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if my memory serves me right, at some point you ended up with a Rolls race.
28:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that was late in the career.
28:06
[SPEAKER_02]: That was, that was, that was almost like,
28:13
[SPEAKER_02]: That was the same thing.
28:14
[SPEAKER_02]: It gave me a lot of grief when I drove up.
28:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I drove it to camp one time and that was it.
28:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Remember the other at the time I had a one fifty Ford pickup.
28:25
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I drove it.
28:28
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
28:28
[SPEAKER_04]: I tell you Bob, you can't say Fort Lauderdale and not think of you and Nermie Drive and all the fun we had brothers.
28:36
[SPEAKER_04]: At the end of the night, I'm going to where are you going?
28:39
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going out of September.
28:40
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to Bob's for a little while.
28:44
[SPEAKER_02]: That we had some fun.
28:45
[SPEAKER_02]: We had some fun.
28:46
[SPEAKER_02]: That was an actual bug.
28:47
[SPEAKER_03]: Do you follow the law funds a lot?
28:51
[SPEAKER_03]: I know you follow Alabama a lot and then we don't want to run.
28:54
[SPEAKER_03]: They've had.
28:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I do special files that were closed.
28:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I follow his lead and I paid attention.
29:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I paid attention of the draft and you know with two of them, water and all the stuff going on there, I pay.
29:09
[SPEAKER_02]: attention there, we're related to watching those guys, uh, how they're doing there.
29:13
[SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, you know, always hoping for the best.
29:16
[SPEAKER_03]: And so you've seen all those guys come through, Minka, you know, that's right.
29:21
[SPEAKER_03]: So you've seen all those guys come through Alabama.
29:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
29:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
29:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad to see Minka's back.
29:27
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
29:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
29:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And we are, you know, he's, he is a, he was special here.
29:31
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's got a really, really, he's a good leader.
29:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you should be.
29:36
[SPEAKER_02]: He should really help the different.
29:38
[SPEAKER_04]: He's had a great camp, too.
29:40
[SPEAKER_04]: He's he's picking.
29:41
[SPEAKER_04]: He looks great.
29:42
[SPEAKER_04]: He's got everybody lined it up in the right spot.
29:44
[SPEAKER_04]: He's just so valuable to the team.
29:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, Bob, you took double teams in the old days before they had concussions and got knocked around.
29:51
[SPEAKER_04]: You got, how's your body feel now as I'm always curious.
29:55
[SPEAKER_04]: We always talk about that.
29:56
[SPEAKER_04]: You get older.
29:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I was just talking about, I just got my second hip done.
30:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, the Anders Clinic, you guys have heard of Anders, they're up here, that's who did it.
30:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And I really feel pretty good right now.
30:11
[SPEAKER_02]: My hips were bothering me through the technology, I guess, we have the ability to fix stuff like that.
30:20
[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel pretty darn good right now.
30:23
[SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, Boat, I've been talking about some different things.
30:27
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm working really hard at trying to get to a place where I coach, coach Saber, one of the things he coaches just teams is to finish strong.
30:37
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think about that a lot.
30:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I want to finish strong.
30:39
[SPEAKER_02]: So whatever time we got left, I want to finish strong.
30:44
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel pretty good.
30:46
[SPEAKER_03]: You talk about Bob taking the double teams and all that's happened.
30:49
[SPEAKER_03]: And I mean, I wouldn't want to be in.
30:51
[SPEAKER_02]: No.
30:52
[SPEAKER_03]: First, first of all, I was like, is, is, is, is calves were about.
30:55
[SPEAKER_03]: the size of my thighs.
30:56
[SPEAKER_03]: So that helps them.
30:58
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
30:58
[SPEAKER_03]: But Bob, but Bob, and we have talked about this before popped up in one of our podcasts.
31:04
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just going to mention the game, St.
31:07
[SPEAKER_03]: Louis Thanksgiving Day.
31:08
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you, you, Karl Banks, Big Bob Young, and AJ Duway.
31:14
[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
31:15
[SPEAKER_03]: He was your memories of that.
31:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, my memories are, we were, I was our rookie season.
31:20
[SPEAKER_02]: It was Thanksgiving night.
31:22
[SPEAKER_02]: They called in the cardiac cards.
31:24
[SPEAKER_02]: They had a lot of veterans on the team.
31:26
[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of all pros on the offensive line.
31:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Jim Hart was good quarterback.
31:31
[SPEAKER_02]: We were just, you know, we just lost a Cincinnati Sunday.
31:36
[SPEAKER_02]: And there was a bad, you know, there's some bad press on Monday from a couple of local writers.
31:41
[SPEAKER_02]: So we all kind of had a chip on our shoulder.
31:44
[SPEAKER_02]: And we've gone to St.
31:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Louis.
31:47
[SPEAKER_02]: and we jumped on him really early.
31:49
[SPEAKER_02]: And what I remember more than anything is I'm on the nose, you guys.
31:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Toppers on one side, Bob Young's on the other side.
31:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Top Banks was in the middle and they were targeting me pretty good, but we were having our way.
32:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember we sat heart once, twice.
32:09
[SPEAKER_02]: And AJ's just out on the end just freaking, you know how AJ is.
32:13
[SPEAKER_02]: He's just,
32:15
[SPEAKER_02]: He's given him hell and just, you know, he was, he, I think he invented trash talk and there's rookie here, but Bob's a little too polite.
32:25
[SPEAKER_03]: He was out there saying, hey, that rookie's kicking you in.
32:27
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
32:28
[SPEAKER_03]: Every snap, every snap, that little, Bob would come and know, shut up, he'd say, hey, you got a ball, I can't believe you remembered that.
32:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I was telling him to shut up.
32:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Because Dobra was like hitting me in the ribs, doing all kinds of crazy crap tummy.
32:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, whatever members I didn't know how it started.
32:48
[SPEAKER_02]: But remember, we watched it on film and Tom Banks got up from a place.
32:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't walk him back to the Harlem and then just turn around and just freaking late AJ out and then the bench was emptied and the rest is empty.
33:01
[SPEAKER_02]: The history of the bench is empty.
33:02
[SPEAKER_02]: What three times, boy, right?
33:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Three to the time.
33:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
33:05
[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what I remember.
33:07
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I remember all of the stuff.
33:09
[SPEAKER_03]: But I always laugh and I think about AJ out there, Bob's in the middle.
33:14
[SPEAKER_03]: AJ's out there, you know, why, you know, rushing up field.
33:17
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
33:18
[SPEAKER_03]: And bitching out the guys inside and Bob just said, AJ, shut up.
33:22
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, do I know how to do that?
33:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
33:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
33:25
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
33:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, let's go around.
33:27
[SPEAKER_02]: You know what else is funny is that I did a radio show up here for a while.
33:32
[SPEAKER_02]: and Tom Banks actually moved down here while we did the show together a Monday, we called it the Mondays during football season, the gumbo express, and I put him and AJ together a few times, and they talked a few times that was interesting to listen to those conversations, but they're kind of buddies now.
33:51
[SPEAKER_02]: if they bought one into that game because conrad doble he was doing commercials on being the dirtiest man and it became his thing yeah did you know going in that game all the dirt you were aware of it the scouting report in the whole deal they heard about the next we heard about the over you know and then and then they had a play all I don't remember both they ran at that game and then they played them in Miami the next year they call it the helicopter
34:18
[SPEAKER_02]: And I played real tight on the center.
34:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I get right on the center.
34:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I played a two-gap technique.
34:24
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we played the whole time when I was there two-gap on the center.
34:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And so what would happen is the center would drop back real quick trying to get me to extend.
34:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And then the guard would hit me high.
34:37
[SPEAKER_02]: And the other guard would hit me low.
34:38

34:59
[SPEAKER_03]: We're dragging Steve tail off the gate.
35:01
[SPEAKER_03]: And I remember he tells the trainer to bring you by the hotdle.
35:05
[SPEAKER_03]: So he sticks his head in the hotdle.
35:06
[SPEAKER_03]: And he's like, you know, he's like, you know, and he goes, it was, it was doveler.
