- 0:00Speaker 1: I have a pup date, pup date.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Pup date. Is it like I was in a small tent?
- 0:07Speaker 1: No? An update on the new puppy.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Oh, I thought you meant it's like a pupp tent. Oh.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And I want to thank a guy for creating the
- 0:16Speaker 1: logo for the pup date segment. If you go to
- 0:18Speaker 1: X ninety six dot com slash live. We got a
- 0:22Speaker 1: new puppy three weeks ago. Not planning on the new puppy,
- 0:26Speaker 1: but we have it.
- 0:28Speaker 2: It was like an unplanned puppy.
- 0:31Speaker 3: It was thrust upon them.
- 0:33Speaker 1: There should be there should be an organization called planned
- 0:35Speaker 1: puppy Hood where you go and plan these things out.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I mean, if you weren't so loose all the time.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I love this puppy and I'm glad we have this puppy.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Her name is Oakley. And if you follow me on
- 0:50Speaker 1: Instagram or Facebook or wherever, I've been posting some pictures
- 0:53Speaker 1: and videos of Oakley and Riley, who is taking to
- 0:59Speaker 1: her new little her just great. She's putting up with
- 1:04Speaker 1: a lot because Oakley likes to chew on her with
- 1:08Speaker 1: her sharp puppy teeth, and she just lets her because
- 1:12Speaker 1: that's that's a golden retriever for you, and she'll look
- 1:15Speaker 1: up at me like, can you do something about this?
- 1:17Speaker 1: But she'll just let her to it. But my problem
- 1:21Speaker 1: is this, all right? So I go to work very early, yes,
- 1:27Speaker 1: in the morning. And because of that, over the years,
- 1:31Speaker 1: Riley has learned that four am is breakfast because I'm
- 1:36Speaker 1: up and she's up. And well, this puppy, I'm pretty
- 1:41Speaker 1: sure would just keep on sleeping through the like she's
- 1:44Speaker 1: sleeping through the night.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I bet she'd sleep till seven o'clock probably, But I'm
- 1:51Speaker 1: up and Riley's up, so we're I didn't want to
- 1:56Speaker 1: train this pup to have breakfast at four am. I
- 1:59Speaker 1: was hoping we could, we could make it different.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah, but how do you do that? How do you
- 2:03Speaker 2: do that? When you say, okay, here, Riley, here's breakfast.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Nothing for you, I know.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So this is the thing. And and Mohammed, who's mostly
- 2:13Speaker 1: taken care of the prophet, no my son, nothing, oh
- 2:17Speaker 1: has said. You know, I would like her to be
- 2:19Speaker 1: on like a seven o'clock schedule. You can't feed one
- 2:22Speaker 1: dog at four don't have.
- 2:24Speaker 2: The other dog not, Yeah, but you can.
- 2:29Speaker 3: So it's a matter of training the older dog to
- 2:32Speaker 3: eat later.
- 2:33Speaker 1: But then I worry is that fair to her if
- 2:35Speaker 1: she's already.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, but you do you know these are not they
- 2:39Speaker 2: don't take it. It's not They don't think of these
- 2:41Speaker 2: things like human beings do. I mean, they do kind
- 2:44Speaker 2: of know that. But but the dog is not going
- 2:46Speaker 2: to go. This isn't fair. The dog is just going
- 2:51Speaker 2: to go, I'm hungry, I'm hungry, gonna think she's proud
- 2:56Speaker 2: for three hours. The dog is gonna go, I'm hungry.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I'm hungry, and then oh now I'm being fed. I'm
- 3:04Speaker 2: not hungry.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Because the problem is if I feed the puppy at
- 3:09Speaker 1: four a m. She doesn't want to go back in
- 3:11Speaker 1: the kennel. That's I eat, and it's place you know
- 3:15Speaker 1: you eat.
- 3:15Speaker 2: It's place the puppy train the poppy. Sorry you don't
- 3:20Speaker 2: eat now, I mean that's that. You've gotta you've gotta
- 3:25Speaker 2: you've gotta draw the line somewhere because they're not.
- 3:28Speaker 3: People, and and you'll be it'll be easier to train.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Riley, Honey, We're gonna eat a little later, eat a
- 3:35Speaker 1: little later now.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So here's what I'm thinking. We've got daylight saving this weekend.
- 3:41Speaker 1: It's kind of a natural time to make adjustments.
- 3:45Speaker 3: It screws up there inner clock, so to speak.
- 3:49Speaker 1: The other problem is when Riley was a puppy and
- 3:52Speaker 1: we took her to training, they taught us, Uh, you
- 3:56Speaker 1: want them to calm down and be quiet before they eat. Oh, okay,
- 4:00Speaker 1: you know, so they're you know, you have to sit
- 4:03Speaker 1: quietly while I fill up your bowl. And then isn't
- 4:06Speaker 1: that nice when they're not barking for food? Well, Joe
- 4:11Speaker 1: and I know, I said yesterday, he doesn't do anything wrong.
- 4:14Speaker 1: This is the only thing he has done that I
- 4:16Speaker 1: don't care for.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Oh.
- 4:17Speaker 1: He thinks it's funny to have a conversation with the
- 4:20Speaker 1: dog before you feed it.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Oh.
- 4:22Speaker 1: He likes the oh are you ready to eat?
- 4:25Speaker 2: Would you like to?
- 4:27Speaker 1: He likes the back and forth and the excitement.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Wait, wait a minute, he likes the back and forth. Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I think it's just fourth, isn't it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: No, No, they talk's yeah and they Oh really would
- 4:38Speaker 1: you like that? Now?
- 4:39Speaker 3: I don't know what how?
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, he likes that. Well, now the puppy thinks, Oh,
- 4:45Speaker 1: if you want to eat, you have to dying all
- 4:48Speaker 1: around me. You have to you ask for it. It's
- 4:53Speaker 1: a it's a verbal request. Again, I was hoping for
- 4:57Speaker 1: this go around that we have the we will eat
- 5:00Speaker 1: when we my point being, I have to feed her
- 5:03Speaker 1: when she's asking for it.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Girlse she'll just bark and well.
- 5:07Speaker 4: And someone texts in and says, does Riley eat at
- 5:10Speaker 4: four am on the weekend?
- 5:12Speaker 3: Yes?
- 5:12Speaker 1: I get up at four and if you do, yeah, okay,
- 5:14Speaker 1: because because in my mind, I'm like, she doesn't know
- 5:17Speaker 1: it's Saturday.
- 5:18Speaker 4: This is the time of day that we eat because
- 5:21Speaker 4: with our dogs, they always just waited for us to
- 5:23Speaker 4: wake up, so.
- 5:24Speaker 1: You would feed them different times.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yeah, a different times.
- 5:27Speaker 2: So I'm being too nice, right, it can be done,
- 5:30Speaker 2: because again, they don't think like people. They just think
- 5:34Speaker 2: I'm hungry.
- 5:35Speaker 1: We're eating at seven.
- 5:36Speaker 3: It's seven o'clock forever. Hudson is changing our schedule now.
- 5:41Speaker 4: He used to get up and eat at five am
- 5:44Speaker 4: when I left, but now he's sleeping in until and
- 5:47Speaker 4: sometimes doesn't eat until nine.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Really yeah, just he'll just sleep.
- 5:52Speaker 1: And I'm gonna lay it on the law this weekend,
- 5:55Speaker 1: eat breakfast at seven.
- 6:03Speaker 2: It the older dog will probably go into a funk
- 6:08Speaker 2: and be depressed with the rest of its natural life.
- 6:12Speaker 3: This is what I'm worried about.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I want her to know that just because we have
- 6:16Speaker 1: this new puppy doesn't mean your life has.
- 6:19Speaker 2: To Well, then discuss it. Discuss it with right, We'll talk. Yeah, listen, honey,
- 6:25Speaker 2: you know I know that this doesn't seem fair because
- 6:28Speaker 2: because I know you understand the concept of fairness, I.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Do talk to her in this way, like like she's
- 6:34Speaker 1: a person.
- 6:36Speaker 2: So you don't like the fact that Joe does the
- 6:38Speaker 2: back and forth with the no, we don't.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Because she doesn't have to bark. I just talked to
- 6:44Speaker 1: her this way. Here's what's here's what's happening. This is
- 6:47Speaker 1: the way it is, all right, I'm gonna try.
- 6:49Speaker 3: That this weekend. Writing out some instructions this weekend would
- 6:54Speaker 3: be the time to do.
- 6:55Speaker 2: It, posting them on the inside of the kennel.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Okay, m
