- 2:02Speaker 4: in line with a big event that we have coming
- 2:04Speaker 4: up that you might have heard Coldes investment perhaps perhaps
- 2:07Speaker 4: and you will return to Atlanta. So the pink nookie
- 2:10Speaker 4: is an interest in herbal infused feminine hygiene brand. Got
- 2:15Speaker 4: it Ricky and Brianna Murphy. And the reason how it
- 2:19Speaker 4: ties into investmentst is that they were actually vendors in
- 2:21Speaker 4: the invest fast marketplace for how many years?
- 2:24Speaker 2: This will be our third year, third.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Year, so yep, so the past two years and it
- 2:31Speaker 4: actually helped them and now they're on the path of
- 2:35Speaker 4: the pathway of scaling their business. So it's gonna be
- 2:39Speaker 4: an interesting conversation as opposed to talking about where they
- 2:43Speaker 4: started where they are now. The industry, and of course
- 2:48Speaker 4: invest Fast marketplace, the legendary vendor market.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Is a legendary place.
- 2:53Speaker 5: And we've met before, which is interesting and y'all had
- 2:56Speaker 5: the footage to prove it. We spoke the first year
- 2:58Speaker 5: you got there, y'all a different place, and then we
- 3:01Speaker 5: spoke last year and took pictures and y'all a different place.
- 3:04Speaker 6: And this year you were.
- 3:05Speaker 5: Gracious enough to come to the press conference for the
- 3:07Speaker 5: announcement of invest Fast and shit your story. Uh So
- 3:10Speaker 5: we're looking forward to to continuing to watch.
- 3:13Speaker 6: The crow because it's beautiful.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Right.
- 3:14Speaker 5: We talk about something that started and you got to
- 3:16Speaker 5: watch every stage of it.
- 3:18Speaker 6: I feel like that's what's happening here with y'all.
- 3:19Speaker 4: So first, full on, thank you for joining us, appreciate it,
- 3:21Speaker 4: thank you for having us. So all right, so let's
- 3:23Speaker 4: get into this. So what exactly did your company do?
- 3:28Speaker 4: Let's start there and tell us the pathway because you
- 3:31Speaker 4: guys originally from Indianapolis, though you left it who to Atlanta.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Theres a whole story. Yeah, so tell us the story
- 3:36Speaker 4: of how you even became entrepreneurs and started this company.
- 3:40Speaker 2: The Pin Lookye is a herbal feminine hygiene brand. Everything
- 3:44Speaker 2: is handmade by me and my husband, and I got
- 3:47Speaker 2: started during my pregnancy with our son. His test statshrone
- 3:50Speaker 2: came my pah thrown off and at the time Rickie
- 3:53Speaker 2: was a heroin attic. We were flat broke. I didn't
- 3:56Speaker 2: have anything, so I had to look up polistic remedies
- 3:59Speaker 2: with ingredients I could by my food stamp car and
- 4:01Speaker 2: so you know, he's seeing how it was helping me,
- 4:04Speaker 2: and he encouraged me to start giving samples away their
- 4:06Speaker 2: friends and family, and then the response was so overwhelming
- 4:11Speaker 2: we just started selling the products.
- 4:12Speaker 4: And so it's what is ZACKI doesn't do though it
- 4:16Speaker 4: helps women's pH balances.
- 4:19Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So, I have a soap like all other you know
- 4:22Speaker 2: soaps out there, But the thing about it is there's
- 4:25Speaker 2: no chemicals, there's no harsh ingredients. Everything in the products
- 4:28Speaker 2: for the most part, outside of the soap, is edible.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So it has been known to help women with you know,
- 4:34Speaker 2: BVST infections or just like women, we have things for
- 4:38Speaker 2: our hair. You know, so many hair products. Why not
- 4:41Speaker 2: treat your vagina to the same type of luxury.
- 4:43Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, pH balances can you said it brought
- 4:48Speaker 5: me back to my health back. Yeah, I was like, well,
- 4:51Speaker 5: pH bounced down off he's infection back to Like, so,
- 4:53Speaker 5: it's all these things and most people will probably think,
- 4:57Speaker 5: especially when I hused to teach young young adults, would
- 4:59Speaker 5: be like, my gosh, that's so discussing. And then you
- 5:01Speaker 5: look at the statistics about eighty percent of women will
- 5:04Speaker 5: have a use affection at some point in their life.
- 5:06Speaker 5: And there's player causes. It could be diet change, it
- 5:08Speaker 5: could be pregnancy, like you said, it could be even
- 5:11Speaker 5: for like people who are swimmers, right, wearing wet clothes
- 5:14Speaker 5: for too long. So there's all types of symptoms in it.
- 5:16Speaker 5: But when you were thinking of the company, this is them.
- 5:20Speaker 5: I'm sure everybody wants to know, right, the word nookie. Yeah,
- 5:24Speaker 5: how did we summise to that? And like, what was
- 5:26Speaker 5: that process like of trying to come up with the name.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Well, at first the name was refreshed because my name
- 5:31Speaker 2: is Brianna and then pH freshed. But I learned that
- 5:36Speaker 2: not everybody has the same connection to my name as
- 5:38Speaker 2: I do. So I rebranded to pin Nookie and he
- 5:42Speaker 2: took off.
- 5:44Speaker 4: So okay, so so you start that, but it's trying
- 5:47Speaker 4: times for you because you're pregnant and okis you say
- 5:50Speaker 4: you're battling addiction, right, So how how were you able
- 5:55Speaker 4: to get clean and how was that family unit able
- 5:58Speaker 4: to survive those trying time to actually be able to
- 6:02Speaker 4: start a business.
- 6:03Speaker 8: Yeah, I was able to get clean.
- 6:05Speaker 9: I had to go sit down for like six months
- 6:07Speaker 9: in jail, So that was like, really what got me sober?
- 6:11Speaker 9: So the six months and I came home, well, she
- 6:15Speaker 9: it was started before I went in, but when I
- 6:18Speaker 9: was incarcerated. She was telling me all the phone like, oh,
- 6:20Speaker 9: it's doing this, and it was doing COVID like doing
- 6:23Speaker 9: like the hit the beginning of it. So she on
- 6:25Speaker 9: the phone telling me like everything's going good, everything's going amazing.
- 6:29Speaker 9: So when I came home, we got a men's line too.
- 6:34Speaker 9: So before I came home, she asked me, did I
- 6:36Speaker 9: want to start the men's line first? I'm like, no,
- 6:38Speaker 9: I don't want to sell no no penis products.
- 6:41Speaker 8: To know me, y'a. So I'm in jail right out
- 6:46Speaker 8: of tough guys.
- 6:47Speaker 10: I'm like that, see it right here with the penis product.
- 6:51Speaker 9: So but when I came home and on the yalls,
- 6:54Speaker 9: it was either get a job or go back to
- 6:56Speaker 9: the streets. So for a minute, it was kind of
- 6:59Speaker 9: a struggle because it is like it ain't enough money
- 7:01Speaker 9: for both of us.
- 7:02Speaker 8: So I just I stayed down.
- 7:04Speaker 9: When I start the men's line, King Nooky was going
- 7:07Speaker 9: crazy when it.
- 7:09Speaker 8: Just it just started going off, he said.
- 7:11Speaker 10: So COVID plays a pivotal partner story.
- 7:13Speaker 6: But DURINGKO you had a.
- 7:15Speaker 10: Job, Yeah, you lost your job.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I had a job and I lost my job like COVID.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I lost my job. And then COVID hit maybe like
- 7:23Speaker 2: three or four days later, and so now I'm like, well, dang,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I'm never gonna be able to find another job. I
- 7:29Speaker 2: was working in payroll for Ascension. It's like they owned
- 7:32Speaker 2: all the Catholic hospitals. So that's that is my laying hr.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And so you know, obviously COVID everything shut down. So
- 7:40Speaker 2: I took my last check and invest in actual bottles
- 7:43Speaker 2: because at first I was just using tub board containers
- 7:46Speaker 2: from Dollar Tree. Like condiment containers, and I was putting
- 7:49Speaker 2: the products in there that way. But I took my
- 7:51Speaker 2: last check and actually invested in bottles and I never had.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Yeah, so it said six hundred dollars, no job, we're
- 7:58Speaker 5: putting it in containers.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And he went to jail.
- 8:00Speaker 5: He's in jail, but I think that at some point
- 8:03Speaker 5: he's like, you need to pitch this out to other people.
- 8:05Speaker 5: People need to have that product. What was that like
- 8:09Speaker 5: when you're initially saying, all right, I'm using it for myself,
- 8:11Speaker 5: but now I can help other people.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I know a lot of people like
- 8:16Speaker 2: we had. Ricky has a huge family, so and a
- 8:19Speaker 2: lot of women are in the family. So at first
- 8:21Speaker 2: it was just me giving it to our friends and family,
- 8:23Speaker 2: and they were noticing changes in their pH or you know,
- 8:27Speaker 2: just in their natural hygiene routine and using the product,
- 8:31Speaker 2: and they were like, okay, now you're ready, like sell it.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So I made a post on Facebook. I was posting
- 8:36Speaker 2: like little pictures in the subware containers still like you know,
- 8:40Speaker 2: hew y'all have this product. It's ten dollars. My first
- 8:42Speaker 2: product was it's called the Nookie Glaze now, but it
- 8:44Speaker 2: was called of gloss and because it's for your other
- 8:47Speaker 2: set of lips. But that was the market product.
- 8:50Speaker 11: That's what made me tell her to sell it good marketings.
- 8:54Speaker 2: So we did. I did that and it I immediately
- 8:57Speaker 2: had a good response.
- 8:58Speaker 5: So of those natural conversations, right, even when you're talking
- 9:01Speaker 5: to his family and y'are talking about family hygiene products?
- 9:05Speaker 6: Are those not orbard conversations?
- 9:07Speaker 5: But is that commonplace? I don't know as a woman
- 9:09Speaker 5: to do. Are we talking about pH bounce? Are we
- 9:11Speaker 5: talking about things that are going on down there?
- 9:13Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say it's not natural. It's just the
- 9:16Speaker 2: way you talk about it. Like sometimes, you know, you
- 9:19Speaker 2: just come up with like there's all kind of brands
- 9:22Speaker 2: out there. There's all kinds of things out there. You know,
- 9:23Speaker 2: we see it on the internet, and so it'll just
- 9:25Speaker 2: be like a natural conversation like what type of products
- 9:28Speaker 2: do you use or what sob we are you using?
- 9:29Speaker 2: And you know, once you get in like you're pregnant,
- 9:32Speaker 2: so we're binding over being pregnant. Women are going through
- 9:35Speaker 2: the same things and so it's just like, hey, gir
- 9:38Speaker 2: I made this product. They helped me here try it,
- 9:40Speaker 2: and that's how it happened.
- 9:42Speaker 4: So how much money did it start to did it
- 9:44Speaker 4: cost to start the business?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Six hundred dollars That was my last check.
- 9:47Speaker 4: And then you just invested and just invested.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And remember the ingredients were edible, so I was getting
- 9:51Speaker 2: food stamps.
- 9:52Speaker 6: So but the EBT car.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Yeah, so you was using the items that you was
- 9:57Speaker 4: buying a food chimp stamps to make the Yeah. So
- 10:00Speaker 4: when did you really start to hit your shroud and start.
- 10:02Speaker 2: To scale when COVID hit. When COVID hit and everybody
- 10:05Speaker 2: was getting unemployment, you know, that was a time for
- 10:09Speaker 2: the entrepreneur. A lot of businesses started around that time.
- 10:12Speaker 2: And that's when I first noticed like, Okay, I'm making
- 10:15Speaker 2: literally thousands of dollars a week on just selling my product.
- 10:20Speaker 2: So right around that.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Time, Oh so used marketing on social media?
- 10:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all I've ever done. I just started running
- 10:26Speaker 2: ads this year. Everything has been organic, just me making
- 10:30Speaker 2: a post and people sharing it.
- 10:32Speaker 4: So is you have like a fulfillment center or are
- 10:33Speaker 4: you just shipping out items yourself.
- 10:36Speaker 2: We are shipping out items ourselves still. We retired my mom.
- 10:40Speaker 2: We have a brick and mortar location in our hometown
- 10:42Speaker 2: and she makes the products and ships the orders.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Out of there, and that's Indianapolis. Yeah, so you have
- 10:48Speaker 4: a brick and mortar in Indianapolis, people can't go and
- 10:51Speaker 4: walk in and buy it. Yes, they can't.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Yes, the warehouses in the back, our warehouses in the bank.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Okay, So what made you want through that? Indianapolis and
- 10:58Speaker 4: not in Atlanta.
- 10:59Speaker 2: That's where're from, That's where I started at. We moved
- 11:02Speaker 2: to Atlanta after, you know, seeing so much success at
- 11:05Speaker 2: the store, we wanted to come down here and open
- 11:07Speaker 2: like maybe a second location. And invest Fest was our
- 11:10Speaker 2: first event that we ever did in Atlanta.
- 11:13Speaker 6: And you were there, Yeah, so what what when you
- 11:16Speaker 6: get home? Like, what's the reaction?
- 11:18Speaker 4: Like?
- 11:18Speaker 6: Yo, we looked like what was going on? You touch down?
- 11:21Speaker 11: What's so crazy?
- 11:22Speaker 10: Day out?
- 11:23Speaker 9: She got kind of hesitating about like letting me come
- 11:25Speaker 9: home to her because you know, I was.
- 11:28Speaker 8: Stealing money. I was like fucking up, like, so she
- 11:33Speaker 8: was scared. I go in. She everything takes off and
- 11:37Speaker 8: start going going for it when I get out her way.
- 11:40Speaker 9: So on the way home, she's like, oh no, I
- 11:42Speaker 9: don't want to let you come back, like because everything
- 11:44Speaker 9: going good, I don't want to let you come back
- 11:46Speaker 9: and you come home and destroy everything I felt while
- 11:49Speaker 9: he was gone.
- 11:50Speaker 11: So I came home. I didn't I didn't grow and
- 11:52Speaker 11: like change a lot.
- 11:53Speaker 9: When I came home. It was I was I put
- 11:56Speaker 9: it in their face. I'm sober. I feel like I
- 12:00Speaker 9: had a lock to prove. But it was amazing. I
- 12:02Speaker 9: couldn't believe she did it, like I'm stealing shot. Like
- 12:06Speaker 9: it was just like one day we was broke, car
- 12:08Speaker 9: repold a car note, repold house election. Then I go
- 12:15Speaker 9: for six months and come home. She got like fifteen
- 12:18Speaker 9: twenty thousand.
- 12:20Speaker 2: So I moved out. He came home to a new house.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Everything I was on my kitchen k or stuff. I
- 12:25Speaker 2: was trying to make sure he came home to something
- 12:27Speaker 2: that kept healed was all the way on the bone dock.
- 12:30Speaker 4: So, like you know, a lot of people have not
- 12:33Speaker 4: dealt with addiction, or they haven't had family members that
- 12:36Speaker 4: doble edition, and they look at people that are addicted
- 12:39Speaker 4: to drugs as like you know, low lives and different
- 12:41Speaker 4: things in the nature. But I want you to kind
- 12:44Speaker 4: of tell the story of your story if you can,
- 12:46Speaker 4: to humanize it right, because it is a situation that
- 12:49Speaker 4: a lot of people have battled with or are continuing
- 12:52Speaker 4: to battle with, So, how did you fall into that
- 12:54Speaker 4: path and how hard was it for you to actually
- 12:59Speaker 4: kick the abbit?
- 13:00Speaker 9: I started? I was, I started selling it. So uh
- 13:05Speaker 9: In the process of me started selling Heroin, I was
- 13:07Speaker 9: popping pills too. So it was one day all I
- 13:12Speaker 9: had was all I had was the Heroin. I didn't
- 13:14Speaker 9: have no money though, so I'm waiting. I'm waiting for
- 13:16Speaker 9: a fiend of college so so I can make some
- 13:18Speaker 9: money buy some pills. So so I'm withdrawing from the pills.
- 13:23Speaker 9: So uh, man, I just somehow I just topped myself
- 13:27Speaker 9: in and just snorting the line of the Heroin to
- 13:30Speaker 9: kill the shakes from the pills.
- 13:32Speaker 8: Man, that one sniff.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Just took you down there. You know, it's crazy. It's
- 13:36Speaker 4: crazy that you say that, because I was listening to
- 13:38Speaker 4: something on the news the other day about how Heroin is.
- 13:43Speaker 4: It was it was about how Heroin is like real
- 13:46Speaker 4: big right, and they were saying they interviewed this one
- 13:49Speaker 4: lady and they was like, she she's the least person
- 13:52Speaker 4: that she would expect to be Heroin at it. She's
- 13:53Speaker 4: like a white soccer mom from like Iowa or something.
- 13:56Speaker 4: But long story short, she had a too in fect
- 13:59Speaker 4: She had to get two pole. They put her on
- 14:01Speaker 4: prescription pain medication. She was she got addicted to prescription
- 14:05Speaker 4: pain medication, then became an addict for perfription pain medication.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Somehow she wasn't able to get prescriptions anymore, like the
- 14:11Speaker 4: doctor said, no, you too crazy, So now she couldn't
- 14:16Speaker 4: get prescription pain medication anymore. The cheapest and get it
- 14:20Speaker 4: on the black market. It costs so much, so the
- 14:22Speaker 4: cheapest option at that time, which is similar, it's in
- 14:26Speaker 4: the same family of drugs. It's heroin on and then
- 14:29Speaker 4: she so she took heroin one time and then got
- 14:32Speaker 4: addicted to heroin and then became a heroin addict. So
- 14:34Speaker 4: it's like you can see how like you know, and
- 14:36Speaker 4: it's crazy, Like that's the same story. It's just it's
- 14:39Speaker 4: different paths as well. But it started with prescription which
- 14:41Speaker 4: people probably thinking, Okay.
- 14:43Speaker 8: That's how most likely happened.
- 14:44Speaker 9: Though on what I experienced, I got family members, car accidents,
- 14:50Speaker 9: all kind of stuff.
- 14:51Speaker 8: Just man, that stuff is power. I can't believe it's
- 14:54Speaker 8: still lead.
- 14:55Speaker 6: It's the most addictive drug. Right.
- 14:58Speaker 5: This is like I used to teach this lesson, Like
- 15:00Speaker 5: people like, no, it's marijuana, it's alcohol. I'm like, those
- 15:02Speaker 5: are probably the most commonly used, but the most addictive
- 15:04Speaker 5: of what it does to your body is is heroin
- 15:06Speaker 5: because once you use it, within twenty four hours, it's withdrawal,
- 15:10Speaker 5: which is not common for most drugs.
- 15:12Speaker 6: So that that that that story is, so are you.
- 15:15Speaker 10: I'm gonna fast forward, just keep on because I got
- 15:18Speaker 10: a question is it to kick?
- 15:20Speaker 4: That's because I always heard that heroin is the hardest drug,
- 15:23Speaker 4: even people that sibling, which is still kind of in
- 15:25Speaker 4: that of the same like they go through like you
- 15:28Speaker 4: could almost die. They actually have to what's the drug?
- 15:32Speaker 4: They have a drug to win you off arols of
- 15:34Speaker 4: boxing that and then also methodon methodon, and it's like
- 15:38Speaker 4: because it's like you could literally your body can going shock.
- 15:40Speaker 4: You could actually die.
- 15:42Speaker 9: Addicted to them too. It's a botching methodon. It's still
- 15:45Speaker 9: addictive because it ain't it's still making you feel the
- 15:48Speaker 9: same as.
- 15:49Speaker 4: So how how hard was it to It was hard,
- 15:52Speaker 4: like throwing up and stuff like I had to go
- 15:55Speaker 4: to jail.
- 15:56Speaker 8: That's how I did it.
- 15:56Speaker 9: Like I've been in rehab like five times. I didn't
- 16:00Speaker 9: tried I never tried method on, but I tried to
- 16:03Speaker 9: subox it's a strip.
- 16:04Speaker 8: You take the put out of your tongue. You get
- 16:07Speaker 8: addicted to that too.
- 16:08Speaker 9: They start you can take a strip and put it
- 16:10Speaker 9: in water that's always melted.
- 16:12Speaker 8: Snorted like it was hard though, it's to the simple.
- 16:18Speaker 9: Six months and even since then, I came home and
- 16:21Speaker 9: relaxed like three times. I didn't relax like three times
- 16:24Speaker 9: in the last three years since I messed over. But
- 16:27Speaker 9: I shook it off though, So it's really impossible. Like
- 16:32Speaker 9: everybody tells me, like like where I'm from, we like
- 16:35Speaker 9: we don't know nobody who beats her on you know
- 16:37Speaker 9: what I'm saying, either in prison or dead or something.
- 16:40Speaker 8: They're not nowhere doing what I'm doing in the corporate
- 16:42Speaker 8: world succeed.
- 16:43Speaker 4: But I'm sure this helps the situation, right as opposed
- 16:46Speaker 4: to just being on your own, haven't.
- 16:48Speaker 8: I wouldn't have did it without it. I wouldn't.
- 16:51Speaker 9: I probably if I wouldn't have came home to the
- 16:53Speaker 9: pink nookie, I'll probably be somewhere dead.
- 16:56Speaker 8: It really was saving me. The pink hooky.
- 16:58Speaker 10: Child could be I see I saw the tap man,
- 17:02Speaker 10: I saw that tap.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Yeah shout, But I mean this is all new for you, right,
- 17:06Speaker 5: You're coming home to Pinnucky.
- 17:07Speaker 6: But you starting Pinnuky is new. So this entrepreneurial.
- 17:11Speaker 10: Journey, Like, what has that been like from the start?
- 17:14Speaker 6: Did you?
- 17:14Speaker 5: Did you feel that anst like, because everybody thinks I'm
- 17:17Speaker 5: gonna be an entrepreneur, it's gonna be great. I'm gonna
- 17:19Speaker 5: make money, We're gonna make thousand dollars, we're gonna vacation
- 17:22Speaker 5: when we're going, we're gonna earn our leisure.
- 17:24Speaker 8: No, that's not really all.
- 17:26Speaker 2: It's not how I went it all. And I never
- 17:28Speaker 2: expected myself to be an entrepreneur, Like, I feel like
- 17:30Speaker 2: I was pushed into this losing my job. What am
- 17:33Speaker 2: I supposed to do? You know, I do have a
- 17:35Speaker 2: product that was making money, but it was just I
- 17:39Speaker 2: guess second nature to be able to provide for my family.
- 17:42Speaker 2: But it's been rough. I've lost friends. You know, people
- 17:46Speaker 2: who haven't even shot Pinnookiy will form this opinion. They'll
- 17:50Speaker 2: post on the internet to try to bash me and
- 17:52Speaker 2: bash my brand. And the reason Ricky and I started
- 17:55Speaker 2: being so open about our story was because people started
- 17:58Speaker 2: telling it for us, So why not just tell it
- 18:02Speaker 2: the right way? Let us do it so then now
- 18:05Speaker 2: you don't have anything else to say, like, Okay, yes
- 18:07Speaker 2: he was on Heroin, Yes I stayed with him. Yes,
- 18:10Speaker 2: if you say so, I was done. Whatever you want
- 18:12Speaker 2: to say. But the journey for doing all of that
- 18:16Speaker 2: in public eye was rough. It's been many nights. I've cried,
- 18:20Speaker 2: We've argued, like I'm the entrepreneur originally, so him coming
- 18:25Speaker 2: home and being you know, the spouse of entrepreneurs, like
- 18:28Speaker 2: I'm always in my phone, I'm not paying attention, I'm
- 18:31Speaker 2: not doing no wifely role. I'm more in the business role.
- 18:34Speaker 2: So that was an adjustment. It was a lot and
- 18:37Speaker 2: losing money. I've you know, paid people to do certain
- 18:40Speaker 2: things and gotten back bad work or not gotten what
- 18:44Speaker 2: I paid for it all. So it's been a really
- 18:46Speaker 2: rough training.
- 18:48Speaker 4: So how big is your team right now?
- 18:50Speaker 2: It's just us my mom, Yeah, four or five people.
- 18:57Speaker 4: So the roles.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Mom is like the store manager fulfilledment. She she's making
- 19:04Speaker 2: the product, so she's manufacturing and she's shipping out the orders.
- 19:08Speaker 2: And then social media. Yeah, I have a social media manager.
- 19:12Speaker 2: She does all of my posting, replying to dms, things
- 19:15Speaker 2: like that on the pinkookie end. But I do have
- 19:17Speaker 2: a Facebook group caught the knookie club. It's over eighteen
- 19:20Speaker 2: thousand women in there. Now I manage that by myself.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I'm still Ricky's childhood friend. He is shipping out the
- 19:29Speaker 2: orders or even doing our local deliveries in Indianapolis. So
- 19:32Speaker 2: we're doing it all ourselves and we get a thousand
- 19:34Speaker 2: and two thousand orders some a month.
- 19:36Speaker 5: So right, so let's talk about this monumental moment in
- 19:41Speaker 5: the Pinknucky journey. You hear about this thing called the
- 19:44Speaker 5: best Fest. Walk us through it.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Our social media manager, her name is Julisa. She sent
- 19:51Speaker 2: me a post on Rashad's page and it was like
- 19:54Speaker 2: talking about invest Fest and it was like a week
- 19:56Speaker 2: away and you guys still have vendor slides open. But
- 20:00Speaker 2: I'm like, well, I've never heard of Rashai or invest
- 20:02Speaker 2: Fest and I clicked on this link. It's two thousand dollars.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I'm not doing it, and she said, read the comments.
- 20:07Speaker 2: So I'm looking at the comments on your post, and
- 20:09Speaker 2: so many people are like, invest Fest changed my life,
- 20:11Speaker 2: and it did this and it did that. And somebody said, well,
- 20:14Speaker 2: I moved to Atlanta after I did invest Fest, and
- 20:17Speaker 2: that struck a nerve with me because we just came
- 20:20Speaker 2: to Atlanta, like a few months before we moved to
- 20:23Speaker 2: do a vendor event and just seeing like the culture
- 20:26Speaker 2: there and how people really support black businesses and yeah,
- 20:30Speaker 2: if that's not natural where we're from, so I'm like,
- 20:32Speaker 2: forget it, We're moving to Atlanta. So that specific comment
- 20:35Speaker 2: made me say, okay, let me just go ahead and
- 20:37Speaker 2: buy the table. And then when I got the table,
- 20:40Speaker 2: you know, we got there. The way invest Fest is,
- 20:43Speaker 2: you know, you can come set up a few a
- 20:45Speaker 2: day before. Well, we walked in and everybody's booths are
- 20:48Speaker 2: like outraged, here we come on, we're walking. All we
- 20:54Speaker 2: have is a banner with the Pinooki logo on there
- 20:57Speaker 2: and a pink tablecloth like nothing. So while our team
- 21:01Speaker 2: was bringing in products, we I left and went to
- 21:03Speaker 2: hobby lobby like we did, for a little shelves to
- 21:05Speaker 2: put on the table and everything. It was so crazy,
- 21:08Speaker 2: but we sold out. That event worked, yeah we did.
- 21:12Speaker 4: And so all right, so that was your first year
- 21:16Speaker 4: and then next next year, which was last year, what
- 21:20Speaker 4: was the thought process going So you was a season veteran,
- 21:22Speaker 4: you had one year under your belt. What was the
- 21:24Speaker 4: thought process going into year two?
- 21:26Speaker 2: We invested in a totally different setup, like the we
- 21:29Speaker 2: had like a backdrop it lit up with the logo
- 21:31Speaker 2: and everything on there. I actually had people come down
- 21:35Speaker 2: and like my mom came, my social media manager came.
- 21:39Speaker 2: We made sure we had like we shut the website
- 21:41Speaker 2: and store down for a few days just to be
- 21:43Speaker 2: able to make inventory for in best best only because
- 21:47Speaker 2: it's crazy, like you have to have enough business card.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I mean, it's just wait.
- 21:52Speaker 9: We did hustle, like because we could hustle. We gonna
- 21:55Speaker 9: were standing in the middle of the.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Crowd, stopping everybody walking by. Come here, let me show up.
- 21:59Speaker 9: We had extra prepared because we know we're gonna hustle.
- 22:02Speaker 9: We got a big goal, so we even come to
- 22:04Speaker 9: plate Year.
- 22:05Speaker 6: One was their nerve? Right?
- 22:07Speaker 10: Was it anxiety built up of like hoping this worked because.
- 22:10Speaker 5: You didn't have the best experience. Yeah, that's the that's
- 22:13Speaker 5: the first question. And the second one was as far
- 22:15Speaker 5: as inventory, because I always wonder, right when when people
- 22:18Speaker 5: are doing their venta boots, do they realize.
- 22:20Speaker 6: What's about to happen.
- 22:21Speaker 10: They don't realize did they over.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Prepare or did they underprepare?
- 22:24Speaker 10: So, did you guys sell out all products like day one,
- 22:27Speaker 10: day two or by day three?
- 22:28Speaker 6: It was like we gotta figure something.
- 22:29Speaker 10: I gotta go to the shopping.
- 22:30Speaker 2: The first year, we had to go home that night
- 22:32Speaker 2: and make stuff out of the product.
- 22:34Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 22:34Speaker 2: The first year, okay, we had to make more, go
- 22:37Speaker 2: home and make more stuff. And then the parking situation
- 22:40Speaker 2: for invest Fest is crazy, so we had to walk
- 22:43Speaker 2: with carts of stuff. You have to walk a while.
- 22:46Speaker 2: So it's I don't think anybody prepares for investmest. But
- 22:51Speaker 2: last year I had when I seen you guys announced
- 22:54Speaker 2: the date, I shared it. I'm like, I'm going to
- 22:56Speaker 2: this event again, change my life. And people from all
- 22:58Speaker 2: over were writing me like how did change your life?
- 23:00Speaker 2: And I gave them the same story that I told
- 23:03Speaker 2: you guys. But I think they still underestimated because when
- 23:06Speaker 2: I went by their booths, they're still like sitting back
- 23:09Speaker 2: in their phones, not missing people. I'm showing them all
- 23:12Speaker 2: the pictures of everybody I've seen them, Like I didn't
- 23:14Speaker 2: see that person because you're in your phone, you're not
- 23:16Speaker 2: paying well.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean this is and it's not just one.
- 23:21Speaker 4: This is just a lesson in life.
- 23:22Speaker 6: Right.
- 23:23Speaker 4: I felt like as an entrepreneur, like you got to hustle,
- 23:25Speaker 4: like it's not nothing is going to just fall into
- 23:27Speaker 4: your lap. And it's something that I learned I was
- 23:30Speaker 4: in sales before this, and that I couldn't just sit
- 23:32Speaker 4: behind my desk and just expect people to call me.
- 23:35Speaker 4: I would have to go out and get out of
- 23:36Speaker 4: my comfort zone. And I feel like a lot of
- 23:39Speaker 4: vendors don't fully understand that right. And they felt like, Okay, well,
- 23:43Speaker 4: Rashad didn't come talk to me like yes, it's like
- 23:46Speaker 4: it's twenty thousand people that yes, I'm not the person
- 23:49Speaker 4: that I'm not the only person.
- 23:51Speaker 6: But they told me that.
- 23:53Speaker 8: I was joking people there.
- 23:56Speaker 2: The thing about it is that's the part when you guys,
- 23:59Speaker 2: any when you're thinking about doing a best face, look
- 24:02Speaker 2: at the pictures of the people who you say are
- 24:04Speaker 2: gonna be there or if not even sometimes y'all don't
- 24:07Speaker 2: have the pictures, but you have the names get from
- 24:10Speaker 2: Google those people because they're gonna walk through the marketplace.
- 24:13Speaker 2: That's how you have it. Subconsciously, y'all have it set
- 24:17Speaker 2: up for the vendors to win, but the vendors aren't
- 24:19Speaker 2: paying attention because the way to get to all the
- 24:22Speaker 2: speakers you have to go through the marketplace. Nobody can
- 24:25Speaker 2: get anywhere without going through I mean, Steve Harvey, Tyler Perry,
- 24:28Speaker 2: everybody walked through the market.
- 24:30Speaker 4: That's that's un attention. We always try to walk the
- 24:32Speaker 4: big names through just to create that buzz, create that
- 24:35Speaker 4: you never know. So last year, Geez, he did a
- 24:37Speaker 4: book signing. We walked Steve Harvey.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Through, Kathy walked through you.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Yeah, so tell us about that.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I feel like I did.
- 24:47Speaker 10: It was you tell the story then, because you did
- 24:49Speaker 10: bring them to me.
- 24:49Speaker 2: It was a Sunday yep, it was chick fil A.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Chickil A is clothes on Sunday. I'm like, what is
- 24:54Speaker 2: this man walking through here with chick fil A?
- 24:56Speaker 9: And early no body wasn't even there's probably like three
- 25:02Speaker 9: four vendors out.
- 25:04Speaker 10: Remember he had bags in his head of chick fil A.
- 25:06Speaker 2: That is the thing that got me. Like, So we're
- 25:09Speaker 2: setting up our booth and Ricky's like, who is that man?
- 25:11Speaker 2: I said, I don't know. He got chick fil A.
- 25:13Speaker 2: So he like, shoot, let's throw something. We're throwing products
- 25:15Speaker 2: in the bag because he's all the white.
- 25:17Speaker 10: Past and.
- 25:20Speaker 2: So we went and took pictures with him and everything,
- 25:22Speaker 2: and he when it came time to take the picture
- 25:24Speaker 2: of course me and Ricky are together. He's like, oh,
- 25:26Speaker 2: put the rows in between the two thorns. And he
- 25:28Speaker 2: was just so cool, Like he talked.
- 25:30Speaker 9: At the products and we got him men's products and
- 25:32Speaker 9: women's products.
- 25:33Speaker 5: That's the thing is and what you're saying is correct, right,
- 25:36Speaker 5: So like even in the lobby part, everyone's face who's
- 25:40Speaker 5: speaking is there, and so the names of it, the
- 25:43Speaker 5: faces there. Like I remember last year walking through Robert
- 25:45Speaker 5: Smith and I brought him over to a booth and
- 25:48Speaker 5: I won't say the business, but they had no idea
- 25:49Speaker 5: who he was.
- 25:50Speaker 6: And I'm like, all right, let's just keep going.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Even if I don't know who a person is, I
- 25:56Speaker 2: steal you can kind of tell. So I still I'm
- 25:59Speaker 2: gonna take a picture and then I'm Google image search it.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Later I'm like, oh, I got a picture with this person.
- 26:04Speaker 8: That's how I did too.
- 26:05Speaker 11: We took it was like five people we took pictures with.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Later on, Oh okay, because I didn't know who Mike's
- 26:11Speaker 2: wife was at first, but I took a picture with
- 26:14Speaker 2: her and then Mike came around and then he you know,
- 26:18Speaker 2: he's so cool and he's like, yeah, I got to
- 26:19Speaker 2: bring my wife back and he brought her back.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I'm like.
- 26:23Speaker 8: J Screen did that first year.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he bought his wife.
- 26:26Speaker 11: We talked to him about our story and products.
- 26:30Speaker 9: He said, I don't bring my wife's back all right,
- 26:33Speaker 9: back came back, brought his wife back.
- 26:35Speaker 8: This was the first time we went to investment.
- 26:37Speaker 4: How important is it you talked about giving giving product
- 26:40Speaker 4: away to like, you know, celebrities and stuff like that.
- 26:44Speaker 4: How important is that? Like talk about that as a
- 26:46Speaker 4: marketing strategy.
- 26:46Speaker 9: Like, see, I'm come from the streets, so you know,
- 26:50Speaker 9: in the streets, you you get it. You get the
- 26:52Speaker 9: junkies the free products to make them something. And if
- 26:55Speaker 9: the products good, it's gonna sell itself. So that's that's
- 26:59Speaker 9: that's really a big part of us succeeding is just
- 27:02Speaker 9: like coming from where we come from, coming from poverty
- 27:06Speaker 9: that helps. That really is a plus for like the hustle.
- 27:10Speaker 9: So it's always in my eyes, like.
- 27:12Speaker 8: What's what's how is it gonna hurt? What's gonna hurt?
- 27:15Speaker 2: Or even if you don't take it, because I've had
- 27:17Speaker 2: celebrities like oh I don't want to take it, or
- 27:20Speaker 2: you know, obviously I'm in a femin hygiene lane. So
- 27:23Speaker 2: sometimes it's kind of sketchy on it, but not I team.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I'm gonna have on a pin looky shirt. You're gonna
- 27:28Speaker 2: take a picture with me. Your face is click bait,
- 27:30Speaker 2: So I'm gonna post a picture and it's gonna bring
- 27:32Speaker 2: more people to my page just because you know it's
- 27:35Speaker 2: a celebrity there. Like I took a picture with Dane Dash.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I had gave him the men's products and it's called
- 27:41Speaker 2: the Law Cleanser, and he was like law Cleanser, but.
- 27:45Speaker 9: Yeah it's some some like like it from the shot.
- 27:51Speaker 9: He didn't even want the products, but I still got
- 27:54Speaker 9: a picture with it. Yeah, I told him to hold
- 27:56Speaker 9: it like I'm aggressive, So I hold it. They don't
- 28:00Speaker 9: even get a chance to say no snapper pick all right?
- 28:02Speaker 4: Cool?
- 28:03Speaker 9: The people don't think he got it, you know what
- 28:05Speaker 9: I mean. So it's really it be simple. People make
- 28:08Speaker 9: stuff so hard. It's just so it's a room full
- 28:11Speaker 9: of people. What's so hard?
- 28:13Speaker 8: Twenty thousand people, one.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Hundred the lever are Your audience is there and they.
- 28:17Speaker 9: Coming to spend money, right, So all you got to
- 28:20Speaker 9: do is just sell the product.
- 28:22Speaker 5: So that that's important. The money part is important. So
- 28:25Speaker 5: how many products do we have? Well for him as
- 28:27Speaker 5: the men's brander's and then Pink Nuky. How many products
- 28:30Speaker 5: does does each brand have?
- 28:32Speaker 2: Pink Nugky has about thirteen. But I have a top
- 28:34Speaker 2: six that I take everywhere or that I push the most.
- 28:38Speaker 2: So that's what I bring and I always sell out
- 28:41Speaker 2: of them.
- 28:42Speaker 5: So when you bring it, I'm assuming when you're thinking
- 28:45Speaker 5: about an event, let's say investment, as you're saying, I'm
- 28:47Speaker 5: gonna bring the top six or the top.
- 28:49Speaker 6: Three, and then how are you managing price points right?
- 28:52Speaker 5: Because we want to make sure that this is profitable
- 28:54Speaker 5: for us when we make sure when we.
- 28:55Speaker 6: Get the booth.
- 28:57Speaker 5: Is that like the team meaning before, Is it like
- 28:59Speaker 5: a strategy that goes into preparing for a.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Bent like that, I sew the products at the same
- 29:04Speaker 2: price I always do, but I, you know, you kind
- 29:07Speaker 2: of gauge the person you're talking to, and if I
- 29:10Speaker 2: can kind of tell like, okay, they want to buy
- 29:12Speaker 2: what they maybe can't afford it at the moment, then
- 29:15Speaker 2: I'll change the price. You know, I'll give them a
- 29:17Speaker 2: discount or a word investments use invest best to get
- 29:20Speaker 2: thirty percent off or whatever the case may be, to
- 29:23Speaker 2: secure the sale. Because like you said, once you get
- 29:25Speaker 2: the product, you'll come back. So and I can tell
- 29:27Speaker 2: that that worked because every year our business double after investments.
- 29:33Speaker 4: So how many people did you bring to work with it?
- 29:37Speaker 4: Two people? So yeah, so every venday.
- 29:40Speaker 2: First year we didn't have anybody, it was us.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Every vendor gets three tickets, right, that's another thing. You
- 29:45Speaker 4: actually get tickets to invest us too. Even though it's
- 29:47Speaker 4: kind of difficult to really do two things at one time,
- 29:50Speaker 4: so you're not going to be able to really watch
- 29:53Speaker 4: somebody speak while you're trying to sell your product. But theoretically,
- 29:57Speaker 4: if you have a shift working, then one person could
- 29:59Speaker 4: be floating in. But for people that are looking to
- 30:03Speaker 4: do events, and like I said, this, this is just
- 30:05Speaker 4: best practice for events period. What are some tips that
- 30:08Speaker 4: you can give them? As far as you got you
- 30:09Speaker 4: should have your payment processing system down right, like a
- 30:12Speaker 4: credit card reader. Yes, you got to have somebody that's
- 30:15Speaker 4: on the staff that's kind of like working, right. You
- 30:20Speaker 4: got to make sure you have enough inventory. What are
- 30:22Speaker 4: some tips that you should give people that's like looking
- 30:24Speaker 4: at do events.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I will say after the first year of us doing
- 30:27Speaker 2: investments and seeing how it was, we bought other people ticket. Yes,
- 30:31Speaker 2: we get the free tickets, but we bought tickets to
- 30:34Speaker 2: have work, yes, and have more people.
- 30:37Speaker 8: The hotel for them mistake.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Yeah, we pay for the rental card, the hotel, everything
- 30:42Speaker 2: because we knew by the second year, like what to
- 30:44Speaker 2: expect and like you said, shifts like for for me,
- 30:47Speaker 2: Ricky is the more outgoing one, so I'm always at
- 30:51Speaker 2: the boots. He goes and gets people. He brings the
- 30:53Speaker 2: people to me and not secure the sale. That's just
- 30:55Speaker 2: how it works, like we play out for each other.
- 30:58Speaker 2: You can't just be sitting at your booth waiting on
- 31:00Speaker 2: people to walk by and seem interested, because if you
- 31:03Speaker 2: seem uninterested, why should they care what you're selling? So
- 31:07Speaker 2: that's one thing. I always have business cards. Another thing
- 31:11Speaker 2: I do is email marketing. People sleep on that, but
- 31:14Speaker 2: it's so important. So I have a sign up sheet
- 31:17Speaker 2: like whether you buy or not, Hey, can you write
- 31:19Speaker 2: your name, phone number down, email down, and we manually
- 31:22Speaker 2: add those.
- 31:22Speaker 4: To our list at Collected Data.
- 31:24Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Because again, if I can get your email, I can
- 31:27Speaker 2: convert you. Eventually, I send it out two emails a week.
- 31:30Speaker 10: So how about a sales team?
- 31:33Speaker 6: Is it just you?
- 31:35Speaker 4: Right?
- 31:35Speaker 6: Like, how did you ernest what's up.
- 31:38Speaker 5: You ever walk into a small business and everything just
- 31:40Speaker 5: works like the checkout is fast, the receipts are digital,

- 32:53Speaker 5: but understanding a professionals routine shows us how they achieve
- 32:57Speaker 5: their success little by little, day after day. It's like
- 33:01Speaker 5: banking with P and C Bank. It might seem boring
- 33:04Speaker 5: the safe plan and make calculated decisions with your bank,
- 33:07Speaker 5: but keeping your money boring is what helps you live
- 33:10Speaker 5: or more happily fulfilled life. P and C Bank Brilliantly

- 33:27Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 33:31Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 33:35Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 33:39Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 33:43Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 33:47Speaker 1: Donald J.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Trump's leadership.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I'm Christy nom the United States Secretary of Homeland Security.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings are at the
- 33:56Speaker 1: lowest levels ever recorded. In Over one hundred thousand illegal
- 34:00Speaker 1: aliens have been arrested. If you were here illegally, your
- 34:04Speaker 1: next you will be fine nearly one thousand dollars a day.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Imprisoned and deported, you will never return. But if you
- 34:12Speaker 1: register using our CBP home app and leave now, you
- 34:16Speaker 1: could be allowed.
- 34:16Speaker 2: To return legally.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Do what's right.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Leave now.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Under President Trump America's laws, border and families will be protected.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 34:27Speaker 6: Even prep for that.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Because Shryty comes from a sales background, I don't come
- 34:31Speaker 5: from a sales background. It's like, is it just something
- 34:34Speaker 5: naturally that that's been gifted to you? You just had
- 34:36Speaker 5: to develop this over a period of time.
- 34:38Speaker 2: I feel like I live by if I don't if
- 34:40Speaker 2: I don't hustle, I don't eat. So I mean I'm
- 34:43Speaker 2: depending on these things.
- 34:44Speaker 9: So everything is self taught. We never had no mentors,
- 34:48Speaker 9: no guidance. We don't have entrepreneurs in our family. Like
- 34:51Speaker 9: we jumped in head first, taught self taut everything. Social media,
- 34:57Speaker 9: everything we taught ourselves.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I'm post three times a day on social media. You
- 35:01Speaker 2: gotta think the average person checks their phone when they
- 35:03Speaker 2: wake up, on their lunch breaks and while they're in
- 35:05Speaker 2: the bed. So I make sure that every time they
- 35:08Speaker 2: open up one of those apps, I'm.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Seeing what kind of social media are you posting? Like
- 35:12Speaker 4: what is it engaging content? Is it just pictures of
- 35:16Speaker 4: your product? Like what do you what do you usually
- 35:17Speaker 4: post on social media?
- 35:18Speaker 2: It kind of depends on the day, but I always
- 35:22Speaker 2: make maybe a post talking about ping nookie or like
- 35:25Speaker 2: me and Ricky, our relationship is public. You know, people
- 35:28Speaker 2: look at us like a couple of goals. I guess
- 35:30Speaker 2: even though it's kind of strange, but like I'll say,
- 35:34Speaker 2: me and Ricky wars are. I have a product called
- 35:36Speaker 2: nookie fruit. It's like viager for women. It's just a
- 35:40Speaker 2: natural supplement. But I'd be like, Ricky made me mad,
- 35:43Speaker 2: but I'm about to pop me and nookie fruit and
- 35:45Speaker 2: you know, just engaging things like that, and people like,
- 35:47Speaker 2: oh nookie fruit, what's nooki fruit? Or the people who
- 35:50Speaker 2: do use that product, they're coming their story. So it
- 35:54Speaker 2: kind of depends on what's going on. You have to
- 35:56Speaker 2: stay up with the trends, like when Kendrick leamarg just
- 35:58Speaker 2: said the Big Three. We made a graphic and posted
- 36:03Speaker 2: the pinookies Big Three, Like you just have to stay
- 36:05Speaker 2: up with the times.
- 36:06Speaker 4: And you're forward facing, like people know that you're the
- 36:08Speaker 4: owner of it.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 4: Do you think that that's an advantage or disadvantage both.
- 36:13Speaker 2: I feel like I'm very accessible. I engage all the
- 36:17Speaker 2: time I'm doing lives, and I feel like with that,
- 36:19Speaker 2: people feel like they know me and they're obligated to
- 36:22Speaker 2: talk to me. Like, like you said, investments, it's twenty
- 36:24Speaker 2: thousand people. They might not be able to talk to you.
- 36:28Speaker 2: But I have people who won't shop if they can't
- 36:30Speaker 2: talk to me, or if they're sending an email and
- 36:33Speaker 2: my team is saying, you know, helping them, They're like, well, no,
- 36:35Speaker 2: I want to talk to Bree. So that's kind of
- 36:38Speaker 2: the bad part about it. But the good part about
- 36:40Speaker 2: it is women see me and relate to me and
- 36:43Speaker 2: shop with me because they can see their selves in me.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Is that that the social media? I guess from Instagram
- 36:48Speaker 5: that that influenced the Facebook group because you said, I
- 36:51Speaker 5: mean even in the bido was thirteen now I'm seeing
- 36:53Speaker 5: it's eighteen thousand. That's a lot of lot of people
- 36:56Speaker 5: to be communicating with, what with all women, which.
- 36:59Speaker 10: Is powerful because we know they have the buying power.
- 37:02Speaker 6: They have the buying power. That's a fact. Uh what
- 37:04Speaker 6: inspired that?
- 37:05Speaker 10: What's what takes place inside of our community?
- 37:07Speaker 2: Well, Instagram, I'm not viral on it all. I can't
- 37:10Speaker 2: seem to get that. But Facebook I went viral. What's
- 37:15Speaker 2: that song TC you know when she says she's the bab,
- 37:19Speaker 2: I'm bag or something like that. What song is that? Creep?
- 37:23Speaker 6: I think?
- 37:23Speaker 2: Yeah, Well I was sitting on the toilet and I
- 37:26Speaker 2: said BBB like I'm back and I have pin hookie
- 37:29Speaker 2: products in there. That was my first real that went
- 37:30Speaker 2: viral with a million views and just the comments were awful,
- 37:35Speaker 2: like so many women were like, well, what's bv or
- 37:37Speaker 2: I've never you know how they get it? Everybody has
- 37:40Speaker 2: this superior cuchie, I guess, but I just wrote it
- 37:46Speaker 2: like that's what made me hone in on the Nookie
- 37:48Speaker 2: Club and really give women a safe space to talk
- 37:51Speaker 2: about things that women going through.
- 37:53Speaker 6: Being viral, being honest.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Yes, so that's all we talk about Nookie Club is
- 37:58Speaker 2: pink lookie or women's issues.
- 38:00Speaker 4: So community built the community. So I do point is
- 38:02Speaker 4: it you have like a nickname for people.
- 38:05Speaker 2: I call him base. But having a community is important
- 38:09Speaker 2: because they do the marketing for me.
- 38:10Speaker 9: Then they gonna do whatever she says, like to be high,
- 38:13Speaker 9: like somebody sneak this pin nookie. She don't gotta say that.
- 38:17Speaker 9: We don't even got to say that. No more, they
- 38:19Speaker 9: gonna you make a post, say something pingnooky. They just
- 38:21Speaker 9: gonna flood you and make you be activate your page.
- 38:26Speaker 5: Was there any moment that shock you, maybe like from
- 38:30Speaker 5: an impact standpoint or reach standpoint.
- 38:32Speaker 6: You got somebody throughout.
- 38:33Speaker 10: The world and he like, I didn't even know that
- 38:35Speaker 10: the influence because this for has that happened.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a lot of stuff that goes on in
- 38:39Speaker 2: the Nookie club that it's people from all over the world.
- 38:41Speaker 2: There plans, Yeah, the what are the flight attendants? I
- 38:46Speaker 2: got on the plane to go somewhere and she was like,
- 38:49Speaker 2: oh my god, you're a pink Nookie and I'm like, yeah,
- 38:53Speaker 2: I guess so.
- 38:53Speaker 9: And that's not her. I like the attention, she don't. Yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 9: so her getting the most attention is like just so
- 39:00Speaker 9: cringe her.
- 39:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:01Speaker 2: So, I mean I love it, but it's kind of
- 39:04Speaker 2: weird for people to know my face.
- 39:05Speaker 9: So she gets out the likes like I was the
- 39:07Speaker 9: popular one. She was like the one nobody knew. But
- 39:10Speaker 9: now she's I post stuff on her page because her
- 39:14Speaker 9: page got the most gag and now like.
- 39:17Speaker 8: She doing good though she she gotta tuck it up.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's coming.
- 39:21Speaker 4: It's part of it. So how is it working together
- 39:26Speaker 4: and being a relationship together?
- 39:29Speaker 8: He got as good and bad? Yeah, I mean so
- 39:33Speaker 8: many disagreements. Money. I like to spend money. She don't. Uh,
- 39:39Speaker 8: she explained it.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Brother.
- 39:41Speaker 2: You did a video not too long ago where you
- 39:43Speaker 2: were talking about being married to somebody who's always laid
- 39:46Speaker 2: on their bills or not paying. When I say, I
- 39:48Speaker 2: hurried up and showed it to you, I'm like, hey,
- 39:51Speaker 2: now you have to but no, for real. That's that's
- 39:54Speaker 2: how it is. Like we're total opposites and in most aspects,
- 39:58Speaker 2: but we we had to learn and separate business in personal.
- 40:02Speaker 2: That was the main thing, because if you're mad at
- 40:04Speaker 2: me personally, and now I'm trying to talk to you
- 40:06Speaker 2: about me Nioki and he's like, I don't want to
- 40:08Speaker 2: talk about that, and I'm like, Ricky, you cannot let
- 40:10Speaker 2: what we're going through in our personal life impact our
- 40:13Speaker 2: business relationship. So if you would have asked me five
- 40:17Speaker 2: or three or four years ago, I would have said,
- 40:18Speaker 2: never go into business with your partner because it was
- 40:21Speaker 2: the worst. But now that we've both grown, I would
- 40:24Speaker 2: I would rather do it with him than anybody else.
- 40:26Speaker 8: To patience too.
- 40:27Speaker 9: A lot of people don't got patience, Like a lot
- 40:30Speaker 9: of people probably.
- 40:31Speaker 4: Been throw it away.
- 40:32Speaker 9: It's like we see them, We've seen a vision from
- 40:35Speaker 9: the jump though, We're like, we can't let it go.
- 40:37Speaker 9: If we gotta do this to keep it going, we
- 40:39Speaker 9: got we gotta do whatever. We gotta do it because
- 40:41Speaker 9: it's it's too big.
- 40:42Speaker 4: Yeah. So as far as expansion, how do how do
- 40:48Speaker 4: you see the company expanding? Like what's your goal for scaling.
- 40:53Speaker 2: If before now I never seen it being anything besides
- 40:57Speaker 2: like us just sealing it ourselves, like my mom making
- 41:00Speaker 2: the products. But now that I'm starting to go through
- 41:03Speaker 2: certain testing like stability testing to make sure you know,
- 41:06Speaker 2: I don't need certain preservatives and things like that, it's
- 41:11Speaker 2: opened me up to open my mind. And so now
- 41:14Speaker 2: I want to do big box stores like Target all
- 41:17Speaker 2: to Sephora, things like that. I want to make feminine
- 41:24Speaker 2: hygiene not be so taboo, like everybody has to wash
- 41:28Speaker 2: up every day. Just because you have a certain soulf
- 41:31Speaker 2: for your vagina doesn't mean anything is wrong. With you.
- 41:33Speaker 2: So that's really the going scaling, like you know, getting
- 41:37Speaker 2: certain stores and change the atmosphere around feminine hygiene.
- 41:41Speaker 6: Is that for both brands?
- 41:42Speaker 5: Because for him, I'm assuming is it on the same trajectory?
- 41:46Speaker 5: How does that work for the males here?
- 41:48Speaker 9: Well, it's it's right under everything we do for Pingmithy
- 41:51Speaker 9: we do for the man's life too, So.
- 41:54Speaker 8: Every it's the same though.
- 41:57Speaker 5: So yeah, I was gonna say, from I'm a scaling standpoint,
- 42:00Speaker 5: because it's important we start with six hundred dollars, where
- 42:04Speaker 5: are we at in terms.
- 42:05Speaker 6: Of sales from year to year?
- 42:07Speaker 4: Right?
- 42:08Speaker 5: Because the way I'm looking at it, like business grows
- 42:11Speaker 5: after invest Fest in twenty twenty two, business doubles by
- 42:15Speaker 5: twenty twenty three, but we had it for twenty twelve.
- 42:17Speaker 6: What how's the scaling going in terms of revenue?
- 42:20Speaker 2: So put it in perspective. Our first year doing investmest
- 42:24Speaker 2: we were making maybe making ten thousand a month, would
- 42:27Speaker 2: you say ten thousand? Now we're doing like almost two
- 42:32Speaker 2: hundred thousand a month. Last year was our first million
- 42:35Speaker 2: dollar a year. We're one hundred percent self funded. We
- 42:38Speaker 2: still haven't figured out the business credit and things like that.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Being you know at investmentst and listening to you guys,
- 42:44Speaker 2: that's opening our ears to that and trying to learn
- 42:47Speaker 2: that that path. But right now we are a million
- 42:50Speaker 2: dollar brand, just Us.
- 42:52Speaker 9: With just Us, we made a million before we really
- 42:55Speaker 9: knew of financial literay was Yeah, that's incredible.
- 42:58Speaker 4: So have you you thought about taking outside money like investors.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I've thought about it, but I'm so scared of it,
- 43:07Speaker 2: just because you know, I watch a lot of stuff
- 43:08Speaker 2: on TV and people's businesses get taken or even like
- 43:12Speaker 2: you know, recording artists, they get in these bad deals
- 43:14Speaker 2: and they're getting pennies while people are getting rich off
- 43:17Speaker 2: of them. So I'm not opposed to doing it, but
- 43:20Speaker 2: I just would have to make sure it's the right
- 43:22Speaker 2: the right relationship.
- 43:23Speaker 10: The education around it is what makes it fearful.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Yeah, makes sense because it's unknown, and I feel like
- 43:29Speaker 2: when you meet us, you can tell that we're green.
- 43:32Speaker 2: So you'll get yourself in a situation where people are
- 43:34Speaker 2: trying to take advantage of us not knowing certain things.
- 43:37Speaker 9: Yeah, because you see you all see black thing and
- 43:40Speaker 9: they make a lot of money, but they don't really
- 43:42Speaker 9: know the business aspects behind the business like everybody else.
- 43:46Speaker 9: But they got the brand though, so I think that's
- 43:50Speaker 9: that's what people see.
- 43:51Speaker 4: What So as far as like you said, your goal
- 43:55Speaker 4: is to move into like Target and like big box stores,
- 43:58Speaker 4: what's the strategy to actually make.
- 43:59Speaker 2: That Right now, we're rebranding it. Everything that we've done
- 44:04Speaker 2: thus far, we've did ourselves, making our own labels, our
- 44:08Speaker 2: own logos, our own websites. So now we are working
- 44:12Speaker 2: with people who have done what we're trying to do.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Are my new crib director. She has products and sporest,
- 44:17Speaker 2: so she's teaching us, you know, the requirements to get
- 44:21Speaker 2: into those type of stores, making sure I have you know,
- 44:23Speaker 2: barcodes already, making sure that I've done all the testing
- 44:27Speaker 2: that's required, so that when I do go to the
- 44:30Speaker 2: big box stores and present myself, I'm already there and
- 44:34Speaker 2: my audience is already there. They don't have to worry about,
- 44:37Speaker 2: you know, how they see other brands, Oh they changed
- 44:38Speaker 2: the ingredients or they sold and the product change. Like
- 44:43Speaker 2: we're on the path to make sure that we're giving
- 44:45Speaker 2: the same quality all the way through.
- 44:47Speaker 5: That's a retention rate for the customer. Are people returning.
- 44:50Speaker 2: By I have a sixty eight percent retention rate.
- 44:54Speaker 6: And that's pretty good. It is there a subscription model
- 44:57Speaker 6: as well.
- 44:57Speaker 2: I do offer subscription.
- 45:00Speaker 6: This is pretty good.
- 45:03Speaker 2: You can either you can build your own subscription and
- 45:05Speaker 2: you can do it monthly or quarterly.
- 45:08Speaker 4: So as far as like, you know, just from a
- 45:11Speaker 4: financial literacy standpoint, you guys coming into you know, starting
- 45:15Speaker 4: a business and making a million dollars in the business
- 45:18Speaker 4: and you know, having more money come in in a
- 45:21Speaker 4: short period of time, has it been challenges as far
- 45:24Speaker 4: as managing the money knowing what to do with it.
- 45:27Speaker 2: It blew the bag a few times, and we were
- 45:30Speaker 2: literally running sales like all months, spent all the money
- 45:35Speaker 2: all month, and then right before the day or two
- 45:37Speaker 2: before rent is due, we're running a sale to make
- 45:39Speaker 2: the rent money. Like we have been that low like
- 45:42Speaker 2: where we've had fifty thousand dollars months and at the
- 45:45Speaker 2: end we have zero dollars. So that was rough for us.
- 45:49Speaker 2: But now we have a we have employees, so we
- 45:53Speaker 2: have people who are banking on us to make sure
- 45:56Speaker 2: that they can provide for their families. Because everybody's full time.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Nobody else has anything else. So that's the thing that
- 46:02Speaker 2: I feel like made us grow up when it came
- 46:04Speaker 2: to the money. And then just looking at what we
- 46:08Speaker 2: spend every month to try to find ways to save
- 46:12Speaker 2: Those are other things that we've learned to.
- 46:14Speaker 5: Is there a specific time of year that you see
- 46:16Speaker 5: increasing sales? I know, like sometimes around.
- 46:20Speaker 6: Black Friday is a big sales there. Obviously the holiday
- 46:22Speaker 6: text time.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I call it tax tax minst is better than
- 46:28Speaker 2: Black Friday. Almost quarter one this year we've done almost
- 46:33Speaker 2: five hundred thousand, but that and that was what we
- 46:36Speaker 2: did Black Friday last year for that quarter, so we've
- 46:40Speaker 2: already done that quarter one. So I'll say tax myths
- 46:44Speaker 2: is the best because a I have women, you know,
- 46:48Speaker 2: who have the buying power, but a lot of them
- 46:50Speaker 2: are mothers, and so they're using their tax checks. Like
- 46:53Speaker 2: I have one customer who she shops once a year
- 46:56Speaker 2: and usually it's Black Friday, but this year it was
- 46:59Speaker 2: the first part of the year. She buys fifteen every
- 47:02Speaker 2: item and I don't see her again for another another year.
- 47:05Speaker 2: So when you think about women are doing things like
- 47:07Speaker 2: that to just stock up and put themselves in better
- 47:09Speaker 2: positions and what they need for self care. So that's
- 47:13Speaker 2: been a good one for US hygiene.
- 47:16Speaker 4: So as far as you know, branding outside of social media,
- 47:22Speaker 4: how have you guys marketed and branded your product.
- 47:26Speaker 2: I keep my nails pink all the time, so people
- 47:29Speaker 2: always say I like your nails, and why every time
- 47:32Speaker 2: I see you have pink, I have a brand called
- 47:34Speaker 2: pink nookie, or I have pink in my hair. At
- 47:37Speaker 2: one point, I just make sure I have something with
- 47:41Speaker 2: the brand. Yeah, we do stand text texting, email marketing
- 47:46Speaker 2: a lot. Fashionova is crazy with the text message marketing.
- 47:51Speaker 2: So I kind of what do they do. They send
- 47:54Speaker 2: out texts like every day, ain't crazy? Yeah, Like one
- 47:57Speaker 2: was like your order is guaranteed to come faster than
- 48:00Speaker 2: your man. Like, so I'm like, and when you get
- 48:05Speaker 2: on social media, you see everybody talking about matching. Yeah,
- 48:09Speaker 2: well that's what I try to do. Like last week
- 48:11Speaker 2: I did drop and give me fifty kegels like stuff
- 48:14Speaker 2: like that. Like it gets the people.
- 48:17Speaker 4: Going, Ye, so's all looking looking for invest fast this year.
- 48:25Speaker 4: What are some things that you guys are going to
- 48:27Speaker 4: do differently this year than you thirt in the past.
- 48:29Speaker 8: We're getting that premium booth.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Definitely not to have that premium God need that premium booth.
- 48:38Speaker 2: And then this year I want to do like.
- 48:40Speaker 5: We'll talk about why that's important like location, right, Yeah,
- 48:43Speaker 5: talk about that.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Every year we've had a good booth. But when you
- 48:50Speaker 2: guys would walk through, it's certain aisles they guys come through.
- 48:54Speaker 2: You're not going through the back aisles or the middle ones.
- 48:57Speaker 2: You're going through their premium booths. And that's where everybody is.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Like nineteen Keys, every everybody has a premium booth.
- 49:04Speaker 11: So I think the faster you buy it, the better
- 49:07Speaker 11: your booth is.
- 49:08Speaker 8: That's what it SEMs like.
- 49:09Speaker 4: Yeah, because you get to pick us on the webs.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Last year, first come.
- 49:12Speaker 8: So as soon as I dropped it, we brought it.
- 49:14Speaker 9: We was, we was, We was across from the E
- 49:17Speaker 9: y L University.
- 49:19Speaker 2: That's how we ended up.
- 49:20Speaker 4: Mike.
- 49:21Speaker 9: Yeah, ain't seen Mike. I didn't even know who Mike was.
- 49:24Speaker 9: He I just seen him at the booth. I've seen
- 49:26Speaker 9: his face out.
- 49:28Speaker 2: We went back and went down.
- 49:31Speaker 6: I'm with Grets.
- 49:34Speaker 9: He gave me his personal number and everything, like after
- 49:36Speaker 9: I talked to him, told my story, gave his number.
- 49:39Speaker 9: Being that's probably like the closest thing I add to
- 49:41Speaker 9: a mentor since we started.
- 49:43Speaker 8: Yeah, that's that's dope, man, that's dope.
- 49:46Speaker 4: So yeah, I think that it's always an exciting time,
- 49:50Speaker 4: but it's important to make sure you got your business correct.
- 49:53Speaker 4: Like a lot of people be excited. I'm gonna be
- 49:54Speaker 4: a vendor investments, but that's cool. But make sure you
- 49:57Speaker 4: got a strategy. Make sure you got the A logo, corag,
- 50:01Speaker 4: make sure you got enough inventory because especially this year,
- 50:04Speaker 4: be in the market place. We haven't announced it yet,
- 50:06Speaker 4: but we got some some pretty dope vendors that are
- 50:09Speaker 4: going to do activation. So it's gonna be that vend
- 50:12Speaker 4: The marketplace is always a vibe, but this year, I
- 50:14Speaker 4: think it's gonna be even more of a vibe.
- 50:17Speaker 9: Got business cards, Make sure you got the right shoes.
- 50:20Speaker 9: Now us were like us, we brought twelve our shifts.
- 50:23Speaker 8: Three days in a row. Twelve you gotta be called
- 50:26Speaker 8: shift three days in round.
- 50:28Speaker 5: Get there early, yeah, get there early. I know, Like
- 50:30Speaker 5: I feel like the past couple years, I've always met you.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Out in the morning.
- 50:32Speaker 6: In the morning, it'll be like nine o'clock. I'm doing
- 50:34Speaker 6: laps to see what's going on.
- 50:36Speaker 9: Din't deal in a crowd of people down around Yeah,
- 50:39Speaker 9: the people. It's not enough people to run to you yet.
- 50:42Speaker 2: So it's and I feel like when you are there
- 50:45Speaker 2: earlier everybody is kind of more relaxed when the crowds
- 50:48Speaker 2: of people start coming and you obviously naturally have to
- 50:51Speaker 2: be more you.
- 50:52Speaker 4: Know, you know, it's crazy, is that? So when we
- 50:54Speaker 4: brought h We brought Robert smithstal last year, and some
- 50:58Speaker 4: people know what he was, but a lot of people
- 51:00Speaker 4: like he was able to walk through with no problem.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Like it wasn't like like you know, you bring Steve
- 51:05Speaker 4: Harvey through and this.
- 51:06Speaker 9: Like a yeah, like he walked through both too, Oh
- 51:10Speaker 9: yeah yeah this one.
- 51:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 51:11Speaker 4: So it's crazy. But like you said, as far as
- 51:13Speaker 4: the early bird catching the world and the Dan Cathy's story,
- 51:15Speaker 4: I think it's good because Sunday is the last day
- 51:17Speaker 4: of the event that was two years ago, and he
- 51:20Speaker 4: came very unisswimming name tag stuff like that. So a
- 51:23Speaker 4: lot of he was there before vendors. There's no reason
- 51:26Speaker 4: why somebody that's worth seven billion dollars it's there before
- 51:30Speaker 4: a small business vendor and it's their business.
- 51:32Speaker 8: Like Law Street Trapper.
- 51:35Speaker 11: He put us on his live Yeah that early morning.
- 51:38Speaker 6: Yeah, that's how it happened.
- 51:40Speaker 4: You gotta beat that early. I always tell people, man
- 51:42Speaker 4: like early birds catch the word like that, and you
- 51:46Speaker 4: never know.
- 51:47Speaker 5: Yeah, you literally never and that's a thing like I'm
- 51:50Speaker 5: replaying the story in my head.
- 51:51Speaker 6: I'm like, you saw him. He was actually lost.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he was just trying to find He didn't know
- 51:56Speaker 2: where to go, you know, where to go, Like, oh,
- 51:58Speaker 2: they're over there, just do We made sure the top
- 52:00Speaker 2: town first that I'm with, get you where.
- 52:02Speaker 4: You need to go.
- 52:03Speaker 5: From that moment I got the I walked with them,
- 52:05Speaker 5: showed them around, and then I was able to introduce
- 52:07Speaker 5: him to Don peoples we had never met. And so
- 52:10Speaker 5: now you got these billionaire tycoons and respective spaces are
- 52:13Speaker 5: now meeting for the first time. So the witness that
- 52:15Speaker 5: was crazy.
- 52:15Speaker 10: But to start with, you're trying to figure out, oh
- 52:18Speaker 10: there is go there all over there.
- 52:20Speaker 4: So as far as you guys looking at you know,
- 52:25Speaker 4: you moved to Atlanta and Atlanta is the place of investments,
- 52:30Speaker 4: but it's also entrepreneurship hub of Black America. How has
- 52:34Speaker 4: your experience been in Atlanta as far as meeting people networking? Like,
- 52:38Speaker 4: how how has your experience been in Atlanta that's entrepreneurs
- 52:41Speaker 4: that's moving from out of town.
- 52:42Speaker 9: Amazing, amazing, Like, so as soon as we came, it's
- 52:47Speaker 9: like the love the uh, man, it's just when I
- 52:51Speaker 9: explained it to people, I just like, it's just it's
- 52:54Speaker 9: made for us, Like you want to succeed in the world,
- 52:57Speaker 9: go to Atlanta from there and that from experience.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Though because you and meet we're just I mean, they're
- 53:03Speaker 2: regular people, but they're not regular people, but they're doing
- 53:05Speaker 2: regular people things like just out to eat or he
- 53:09Speaker 2: has season passes to the Hawks games. Like the amount
- 53:12Speaker 2: of people we've met just going to a basketball game
- 53:14Speaker 2: is in and I don't even watch sport.
- 53:16Speaker 5: Even the brand of choice that you have on today
- 53:20Speaker 5: is a testament to that, right, Like y'all are wearing
- 53:22Speaker 5: Milano for those who are not to know.
- 53:24Speaker 6: But yeah, it was just y'all. Y'all ran into it.
- 53:26Speaker 6: Y'all were looking for this, and she.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Said on the site, she said, let me tell she
- 53:31Speaker 2: took a picture in my contact card and she had
- 53:33Speaker 2: her assistant text me and have what we needed over
- 53:36Speaker 2: to us the next day.
- 53:38Speaker 4: Because I feel like a lot of and I guess
- 53:40Speaker 4: a lot of bad rap and for people, but I
- 53:44Speaker 4: don't think that's people that's fully experienced it, right, And
- 53:46Speaker 4: it's like coming from other places, it's not the same,
- 53:49Speaker 4: Like you know that level of like sometimes you got
- 53:51Speaker 4: to be inspired and be in the right situation to
- 53:56Speaker 4: have the ability to grow. And it's like a lot
- 53:58Speaker 4: of small towns are different cities and different things that nation,
- 54:01Speaker 4: and it's like it's a crab in a barrel mentality,
- 54:03Speaker 4: and it's not a lot of people that are doing
- 54:06Speaker 4: the same thing that you're doing. So it's difficult to
- 54:08Speaker 4: kind of grow if you're not in the.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Right environment and you have to go to the right places.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Like you can't say I'm moving to Atlanta to grow
- 54:16Speaker 2: and you're not in any places that business owners are.
- 54:19Speaker 2: You just only in the clubs or you only at
- 54:22Speaker 2: the bars.
- 54:23Speaker 9: Like we don't even go out, like when people come
- 54:25Speaker 9: in Atlanta, Oh, it's just like we don't know.
- 54:27Speaker 2: What's the rest restaurant, have no clue well business and
- 54:31Speaker 2: even like our lawyer at Investments, Brandon Williams.
- 54:34Speaker 8: Is our lawyer, but our part supposed to be here.
- 54:36Speaker 8: He said he had a family.
- 54:38Speaker 2: But our first year or one of the years that investor,
- 54:40Speaker 2: he walked right past us like we were trying to
- 54:42Speaker 2: give him something. He just kept on going. And so
- 54:44Speaker 2: now it's like now he's our attorney.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Tell that story, girl, that's a good story too, because
- 54:48Speaker 4: he works for Steve Harvey. He's Steve Harvey's lawyer and
- 54:52Speaker 4: now he represents you guys. So how'd you make that connection?
- 54:55Speaker 2: Investments?
- 54:57Speaker 4: There, you have it.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Investment. That's all I can say is like and he
- 55:04Speaker 2: is like people always say, oh, he's just he's somebody.
- 55:07Speaker 4: Like he is very respected. Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 55:11Speaker 2: And he took us our first time meeting him. He
- 55:14Speaker 2: took us to the Four Seasons and for breakfast, and
- 55:17Speaker 2: we were like what are we wear and what are
- 55:18Speaker 2: we doing? And he was just so like cool, like
- 55:22Speaker 2: he was just regular ago and they know him by
- 55:28Speaker 2: name there, they're like, yeah, bro, mister Williams comes all
- 55:31Speaker 2: the time.
- 55:31Speaker 4: A lot of people are fearful of moving out of
- 55:34Speaker 4: that environment. What do you say to those people that, like,
- 55:37Speaker 4: you know, sometimes you just gotta take a leap of
- 55:39Speaker 4: faith and leave the place that you grew up and
- 55:42Speaker 4: leave the familiar surround and leave the family that you know. Right,
- 55:46Speaker 4: it's difficult to leafy. How do you what kind of
- 55:49Speaker 4: advice would you get to those type people?
- 55:50Speaker 2: It's a big world out there.
- 55:51Speaker 8: I don't think about it, just do it.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Yeah, And people get so caught up in friends and
- 55:57Speaker 2: family supporting them, Like it's a big world out there.
- 56:01Speaker 2: It's way more people, and you will turn a stranger
- 56:03Speaker 2: into a customer before you turn a family member or
- 56:07Speaker 2: a friend to a customer. So my biggest thing was
- 56:10Speaker 2: just knowing like I already dominated in my city, but
- 56:14Speaker 2: I want so much more. And I don't feel like
- 56:18Speaker 2: I would have ever done that if I would have
- 56:20Speaker 2: just stayed in Indianapolis and just been content with the
- 56:24Speaker 2: support I got there.
- 56:25Speaker 9: And well we were from everybody that made it left
- 56:28Speaker 9: like Mike Apps, Biblical Fox, Babyface and everybody from our
- 56:34Speaker 9: hometown that made it left.
- 56:35Speaker 8: Nobody made it living in Annapolis. It's all right.
- 56:42Speaker 4: It's one of these things where I feel like it
- 56:43Speaker 4: ain't getting off friendly and from the East from Chicago,
- 56:48Speaker 4: I feel like it's one of these things that I
- 56:50Speaker 4: always say, you can always come back home. Yeah, if
- 56:53Speaker 4: worst comes the words you move your actra and you
- 56:55Speaker 4: try to move to la or you try to go
- 56:57Speaker 4: to Atlanta, one of these Miami one of these places.
- 57:00Speaker 4: If it doesn't work out, you could always go home, right, Like,
- 57:04Speaker 4: you know that you're familiar with that situation, But what
- 57:07Speaker 4: about the regret that you're gonna have because you never
- 57:09Speaker 4: knew what would have happened. If it's like that, drake soul,
- 57:13Speaker 4: like I'm leaving, I'm looking like what would have happened
- 57:18Speaker 4: if you would have packed your bags and left, right,
- 57:20Speaker 4: You've always gotta live with that regret thinking about damn,
- 57:24Speaker 4: I never know what could have happened. At least you
- 57:26Speaker 4: knew if it didn't work out. At least you know
- 57:27Speaker 4: I gave it my all. I tried, you know things
- 57:30Speaker 4: didn't happen. Now I'm gonna come back.
- 57:31Speaker 2: And even then, for me, going home is not an
- 57:33Speaker 2: option either. It's somewhere else to go, Somewhere else.
- 57:37Speaker 9: Peo, whoever said it was gonna be easy. Yeah, like
- 57:40Speaker 9: every it's supposed to be hard. It's supposed to be uncomfortable.
- 57:43Speaker 9: That's why when stuff happened to us, you don't FaZe
- 57:46Speaker 9: me because I already knew it was coming. Like so
- 57:49Speaker 9: being uncomfortable. Oh, I don't want to leave. I don't
- 57:51Speaker 9: want to move.
- 57:52Speaker 8: So you're just not gonna move because you don't want to.
- 57:55Speaker 8: Maybe you gotta move. I got a daughter.
- 57:57Speaker 9: I left, my my daughter still living in Annapolis. Daughter,
- 58:00Speaker 9: it's a sacrifice. She know what I'm doing here. She
- 58:03Speaker 9: knows she's gonna win off of it than the future.
- 58:05Speaker 5: Yeah, that you're building a legacy. Man, it's incredible. Six
- 58:08Speaker 5: hundred dollars, no job in jail. See it on the floor,
- 58:10Speaker 5: making a decision to come to an event that turned
- 58:13Speaker 5: into a thousand dollar business, to a million dollar business
- 58:16Speaker 5: to a multi million dollar business.
- 58:18Speaker 6: It's an incredible story.
- 58:19Speaker 4: He says.
- 58:20Speaker 5: You dominated in Indiana? Is the plan to dominate Atlanta?
- 58:26Speaker 6: Are we going to get a store?
- 58:27Speaker 4: Frond?
- 58:27Speaker 6: Are we going to see this pop up in other cities?
- 58:29Speaker 6: What are we looking for?
- 58:30Speaker 2: I want to make sure like we have like a
- 58:31Speaker 2: headquarters maybe like the main warehouse that is in Atlanta.
- 58:36Speaker 2: But I definitely do want to if I don't go
- 58:38Speaker 2: into big box stores, I do want to have pinookie
- 58:41Speaker 2: stores just everywhere. One thing we're looking at doing right
- 58:45Speaker 2: now in the Nookie club, like I said, it's eighteen
- 58:47Speaker 2: thousand women in there. Where are they from any places
- 58:50Speaker 2: where I have thirty to forty people. I want to
- 58:52Speaker 2: start doing like pop ups like meet and greets or
- 58:55Speaker 2: you know whatever, and just getting our name out in
- 58:59Speaker 2: other cities because yes, we live in Atlanta, Yes we
- 59:02Speaker 2: lived in it Indianapolis but I feel like that face
- 59:05Speaker 2: to face marketing is really what makes the determination on
- 59:09Speaker 2: how far you can go, because if you're just using
- 59:12Speaker 2: social media, as we can see, those apps go down
- 59:15Speaker 2: all the time. So the next best thing is to
- 59:18Speaker 2: get out there.
- 59:18Speaker 8: And do it the organic.
- 59:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:20Speaker 5: This, it feels like when picking close on her story
- 59:23Speaker 5: and the origin stories, it was people connected with her
- 59:25Speaker 5: and so they supported what she had. I feel like
- 59:28Speaker 5: there's there's there's a lot of synergy there, right, Like
- 59:30Speaker 5: they connected with you obviously in this community, so they're
- 59:32Speaker 5: gonna support what you have.
- 59:34Speaker 6: So I mean we can we saw her trajectory.
- 59:36Speaker 9: I feel like our personal we use our personal brand
- 59:41Speaker 9: to help the business too, right, right, who can't who
- 59:45Speaker 9: don't know or have been on That's why I'm open
- 59:47Speaker 9: with my story up more in our story, right, so
- 59:51Speaker 9: many people can relate, so we want to.
- 59:53Speaker 8: I want to relate to everybody, the rich people, the
- 59:55Speaker 8: poor people. Just really be relatable. That's another job.
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: So as far as you guys looking forward, right, well,
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: let me ask you this to this is interesting. So
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: you started and you was buying products with your food
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: stamps and making it I'm assuming that's not happening. Yeah,
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: how are you making a product now you're like a
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: warehouse that's actually making products. Is it made like in
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: China and.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Ship to No, everything is still one hundred percent handmade.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: My mom is doing it now because one thing we learned,
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: we're doing like taxes and stuff everything that I would
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: have to pay the same taxes to Georgia and Indianapolis.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: So our business is just done out of Indianapolis just
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: to you know, limit my tax liability. But my mom
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: handmakes every single product that we make or that we sell.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: It is still handmade by my mom in the back
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: of our store.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: So so by going forward at some point, she's not gonna.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: Probably oh yeah, we bought like bottle fillers and things
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: like that. But I do want to with the lab.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: That was why I started doing certain type of testing
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: because labs the type of products I sell are not
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: looked at by the FDA. It's you know, Food and
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Drug Administration. So but when you start dealing with labs,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: they have certain laws and things that they have to
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: bye by, so they can't make a product that is
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: not safe for you. And I can say all day, well,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: I've been selling it's probably for five years. Nobody has
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: done this, but legally that's not good enough. So there's
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: tests that we ran every product like and the tests
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: are not expensive, like three thousand per product just to
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: make sure that it's not growing yeast or what's to
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: commercer or all those other little bacterias in there. So
